thinking very hard about how Berdly's dark world armor looks like Papyrus's outfit. and how the og Papyrus was gonna be a washed up gamer bro who thought he was better than you, showing in how he says he's Great and Cool and Epic but clearly doesn't belive it, while Berdly has a similar sense of inflated ego but without any of the charm. and how Deltarune acts as a narrative foil to Undertale, with all the characters that show up in both being just left of or perpendicular to themselves, and how Papyrus was a minor antagonist in the very beginning that ended up befriending the player and how Berdly also acted a minor antagonist/Henchman who befriends ("befriends") the player in chapter two, and how Berdly kinda feels like Papyrus but if he had zero charisma. many thoughts.

For the ask game: common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about?
[ask meme]
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
I...actually get frustrated with the infantilization and/or demonization of characters that could be read as autistic, because it happens so often and there's such a lack of self-awareness when people do it. If one person headcanons it, a bunch of other people pile on, and before you know it, your character is being treated like someone else entirely - and unfairly so.
Let's take the most obvious example and the reason I don't engage with fandom much:
Tumblr media
I am so tired of what fandom at large has done to Emmet since 2010. He's been infantilized since day one, often being portrayed as needing Ingo to take care of him or otherwise be his brother's keeper. He's also been turned into a violent, 'unhinged' stereotype since day one. Neither of these things are new. They've been happening since the release of the games. Neither of them have any basis in his canon characterization - a competent railroad employee who's a goofball but simultaneously responsible and always puts safety first.
I was hoping people had moved past that the way they moved past Blankshipping (though some people still do this, too, EW), but it seems like they haven't. Emmet is still either a helpless child or a serial killer waiting to happen to so many of these people, and as someone who actually felt so validated and seen the first time she discovered Ingo and Emmet, it hurts so deeply.
In real life, I'm also infantilized. I turn 35 this year and have a Master’s degree and work a big grown-up adult archivist job and live outside my parents' house, but because I'm neurodivergent and short, I'm frequently assumed to be and am treated like a teenager way more often than you'd reasonably expect. It's incredibly frustrating to constantly be treated like an innocent child because you don't meet neurotypical benchmarks of adulthood the way they want you to or because of the way you carry yourself or enjoy things. But at the same time, people shy away from me because I'm "too intense" about the things I care about.
Sound familiar?
Fandom was, when I was a younger girl, a place where neurodivergent people (especially autistic and ADHD people) were safe from the real world not understanding, accommodating, and accepting us. We generally kept things on the down-low, since it was another thing we'd be bullied for if people knew, but for us, it was a safe space. Then people realized fandom could be commodified, and once capitalism got a hold on fandom and made it mainstream, all our bullies were suddenly in our little space again, and...well, you probably know the rest. (Yeah, they brought their ableism with them.)
I'm not saying old fandom didn't have its problems. It had a LOT of problems. But it was, altogether, a safer space for neurodivergent people to find community and themselves than it is now. Now it feels more about producing things and moving on to the next big thing to produce more "content" to keep engagement instead of an actual community of nerdy, passionate people getting excited about each other's fanworks and chatting about their favorite things together.
And that reflects in how people treat autistic and autistic-coded characters now. Emmet is one example of many - look at Papyrus, or Entrapta, or numerous others.
This trend really, really fucking hurts, and I cannot stand how willingly fandom spaces just go along with it without thinking critically about it.

I like the interpretation that Phantom Papyrus actually exists but I also really like toying with the fact that Dust is clearly insane. You can decide for yourself if he's real or not.
@owl-bones
First Day, Previous Day, & Next Day.
Bad Sansuary: Dust - Haunted
Word Count: 1,256
Occasionally, you would witness Dust muttering to himself or fixating on a particular spot in the room for long periods of time. It mostly only happened on his bad days but you had pointedly ignored this behaviour as it probably wouldn't help him feel better if you randomly brought it up.
Today though, you were too curious to ignore it any longer. You really didn't want to offend him either though as it would be insensitive to just ask, right?
"what's the matter with you today? you're not usually this...jumpy."
You blinked in surprise and sharply glanced over at Dust, who was currently sitting lazily at your kitchen table for once. He raised a bonebrow and his mismatched eyelights flicked over you before settling on your face again.
Curse his incredible observation skills!
"Sorry, I was just thinking..."
"that's not good."
You huffed and planted your hands on your hips. "Wow... You must be so proud of yourself," you retorted with a heavy layer of sarcasm in your tone.
He grinned and let out a quiet "heh."
"so, what's on your mind?" he asked again.
You chewed your lower lip and picked at a loose thread on your shirt. "I... I don't want to make you upset. It's a bit of a silly question anyways..." you murmured.
His eyelights narrowed slightly in a skeptical way. "i doubt you could make me upset..."
"I really hope not..." you sighed. "Do you...do you regularly talk to yourself?"
Dust hummed quietly and tapped the table with his gloved fingers. He was silent for a few moments and seemed thoughtful.
"well i can see why you didn't want to ask..." he muttered.
"Yeah... But, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to! I shouldn't have even asked..."
He shrugged and waved you off. "no, i insisted...and i'm not upset either, okay?"
You nodded quietly and glanced down at your socks. This was just as awkward as you'd expected it would be. You wished you could crawl into a hole and never come out as long as you lived.
"i know i'm crazy and i know seemingly talking to myself makes me look worse. however, i'm sort of...haunted by my brother."
You stared at him for a moment, unsure of how to react to that information. "Is he like a ghost...?"
"phantom, he prefers the term phantom." Dust sighed and ran his hand over his face before adding, "i don't get why it matters but he likes the alliteration i guess..."
"He talks to you as well?"
"yeah... he gives me advice and keeps me company..." His voice was a lot quieter now and he couldn't seem to look at you for whatever reason.
"I see..." You glanced around the room but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. While you could see why Dust had been hesitant to tell you as it really did make him look more than a little unhinged, you were surprised by how casually he'd spoken about it.
He acted as if this was a completely normal thing, and for a moment, you almost believed that he really could be haunted by a phantom of his brother. There were so many types of Monsters and there was so much you didn't know about them. Surely ghosts could exist too, right? Still, it was just too crazy to believe...
He was self aware enough to know how crazy it sounded and yet he had still chosen to tell you. He clearly trusted you to some degree if he was willing to be open about this. So, you decided to play along as it was the least you could do.
"What's your brother's name?" you asked.
Dust turned to you with a look of surprise on his skull. His eyelights flickered across your face, likely looking for any sign that you were weirded out by what he'd just told you.
"you're really something else..." he muttered under his breath. In a louder tone, he responded, "his name is papyrus."
At first you wondered if you'd heard him correctly. Axe had told you about his own brother fairly early into your friendship and you'd learned that his name was also Papyrus. Was it a common name among skeletons?
"Oh, that's interesting. Although, I remember that Axe's brother is also named Papyrus," you commented.
Dust's eye sockets widened and he got a look that practically screamed "oh crap..." He quickly tried to mask it a second later and shrugged.
"it's... you could say it's a common name i guess..."
You could tell he wasn't telling you the truth and raised an eyebrow skeptically.
He tried really hard to maintain a poker face but seemingly couldn't under your intense gaze. With a heavy sigh, he tugged his hood further over his skull and buried his face in his hands.
"sorry...i'd really rather not explain the actual reason behind that right now..."
You placed your hand on his shoulder in a comforting manner. "Hey... I'm not upset, but you don't need to lie to me, okay? I understand you and Axe aren't normal people. There's a lot of things he didn't really want to tell me too. I don't mind though, so long as it isn't something that will affect our friendship or hurt someone, okay?"
He nodded slowly but made no effort to respond.
Deciding to change the subject, you asked a different question. "Can Papyrus see or hear me right now?"
"yeah, he can..."
You glanced around the kitchen again but still couldn't see any sign of the Phantom Papyrus. "I wish I could actually see him face to face so we could communicate properly... Is he doing alright?" you asked quietly.
Dust shifted and you noticed his eyelights flickered to a spot just above your head. He stared intently for a few seconds before the corners of his smile quirked up slightly.
"heh... he says he's doing fine and thank you... also, that it would lovely if you could see him but it's not possible."
You looked up where Dust was focusing and then back to him again. The room felt colder all of the sudden...like there really was another presence that you couldn't see.
"You really care about him, don't you?" you asked in a soft voice.
Dust nodded and smiled at you. The corners of his eye sockets sort of crinkled and for a moment he looked like an entirely different person. Someone who in another life was happy.
"more than anything..." he answered.
You pulled out a chair and sat down next to him. "I wish I could say the same about my family, but I'm happy for you, buddy." You smiled and patted his shoulder affectionately.
He frowned slightly at the mention of your family. "i noticed you never seem to talk to them..."
"Yeah...we don't exactly see eye to eye you could say."
"i can't imagine anyone would."
You opened your mouth to answer before shutting it again. "Was that supposed to be a joke?" you hissed.
"depends, was it funny?"
"Not really."
"then it wasn't really a joke, bean."
You stared at him for several seconds in disbelief. "Are you okay? You've been uncharacteristically happy today..."
"kinda hard not to be when you're around," he hummed.
Was he flirting with you? Or were you just that bad at picking up social cues? There was no way he liked you to that extent!
"Well, in that case, I'm glad you're able to be happy. I like spending time with you, Dust."

Each skeleton's reaction to his kid/niece/nephew walking up to him and holding their hand out. "Hi Dad/Uncle, let's shake hands" The skeleton notices that the kid has what seem to have a Laughing Box in the hand trick on their extended hand.
Undertale Sans - He's playing along. He's a terrible influence, self-aware of it, and will definitely encourage it. Sans will teach all he knows to his kid and then watch him spread chaos and evil pranks from a safe distance. All his friends and family are sweating.
Undertale Papyrus - He shakes hands innocently before his face turns into a betrayal expression. How dare his kid falls for such low-category japes like his brother's when he can work harder for the same result. Sans is having a cup of salt coffee when he's visiting a few hours later.
Underswap Sans - He had one too. Now that's awkward as they're both just staring at the other's Laughing Box in total silence. Tricky. Very tricky. Blue gives the kid a long stare that says this war is not over yet.
Underswap Papyrus - Aaaaw. His baby's first prank. He's all fluffy inside now, so proud. Honey plays along, a big smile on his face when the kids burst into delighted chuckles as they managed to "prank" their dad. He's so proud.
Underfell Sans - "yea, nice try bud, but am not stupid". The kid pouts, mad he found out his evil plan. They went back on the couch and sat on a whoopee cushion in an offended gasp as Red is making fun of them. You can't prank the prank master.
Underfell Papyrus - Edge said nothing, neutral, which made the kid a bit sad. Later that day, the kid sees his uncle searching for coffins. Confused, the kid asks what he's doing. Edge answers he's preparing a funeral for their sense of humor. Ah...
Horrortale Sans - He falls for it genuinely, then chuckles at the little joke. Nice one, kiddo. He ruffles the kid's hair and encourages them to try it on Willow as he will have a better reaction than he has. He then goes to sit on the couch to enjoy the show.
Horrortale Papyrus - He high pitch screams when he falls for the trick, then proceeds to stomp angrily, screaming his brother's name who can't stop laughing from the sofa. He then starts lecturing the kid to death to make sure they're bored enough to never do that again. Oak keeps crying with laughter on the couch while the kid is glaring daggers at him, mad he dragged them into this situation.
Swapfell Sans - He tssks. That's just humiliating. Him? Pranked by such a foolish jape? Like hell he is. As the kid leans his hand, he quickly grabs the other one to shake it, pats their head two times as a "Better luck next time" and leaves. The kid is so mad.
Swapfell Papyrus - He's a bit disappointed. He taught you better than that. See bigger! Laugh boxes are so predictable, you can do so much more better than that! That can't wait. He's kidnapping the kid in his room to teach them how to prank people better. He even let them try everything he just learned on Nox afterward.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He's not amused. He simply rolls his eyes lights at the child and keeps walking. The kid pouts. Uncle Wine is not funny. Welp, time to throw tomatoes on his beautiful just cleaned luxury car instead. Surely he will think it's a funny joke. His scream can be heard several miles around.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - The sound startles him and he instinctively teleports back into his room with the kid who is confused for a few seconds, then starts to cackle when they realize they just did that. Ha, ha. Very funny indeed. Coffee goes to sulk in his closet.

So I think it's been asked before, but I'm curious where the HND skeletons stand relationship wise with the Reader. A lot of them seem to be discovering their feelings a lot with all that's happened up to the most recent chapter 135 how do they feel about the MC romantically and such?
This is a lot of skeletons. AND I WANT TO ADD MORE?!? who hurt me????
Anyway the HND skeletons feelings towards MC as of Chapter 135!!
Sans -He has a crush on her, a pretty big one but he’s also not used to liking people like that. He’s had maybe one crush in his entire life before and that didn’t end well for him. He is also keenly aware of just how much his brother likes the human so he has convinced himself he’s happy to step back from this one. Basically he’s pushing his emotions down and it’s not working for him. It probably won’t hit him until he can’t see you everyday and he realizes that he likes you way more than he thought he did.
Papyrus-oh there is a plan in motion here. Papyrus doesn’t like wasting time after he realizes he likes someone and he isn’t. He just needs the best mood to ask you out officially. Your date to the anniversary celebration that he invited you to in chapter 110 will be the perfect setting for him to ask you to be his official date mate. He isn’t too concerned about the move and distance he knows when he wants to ask you out so it’s perfect. Of course if she asks him out before that he will immediately say yes.
Red-He is full on in love with her but he isn’t asking her out. His low self esteem has him believing that someone like you still hates him and will always hate him to some extent. There is no way that you could feel the same so he’ll continue to watch from a distance. Unless you ask him out or someone else asking you out for him it won’t happen. He is so crushed about moving away from you but he is also fully convinced he’s love is unrequited and he’ll be lucky to have you lust after him.
Edge-Completely in love with you but doesn’t think he deserves you. He wants to get better before asking you out as he’s still beating himself up over you getting kidnapped when you were so close to their house. He feels guilty that you trust him so much and he would love nothing more than to ask you out but he won’t until he thinks he can protect you. He wants to earn your trust before asking you to be his date mate.
Blue -Literally could ask you out at any moment but also wants to be 100% sure that you’ll say yes. It’s the slow game for him and he loves it. He’s been in love with you for a while but is worried that you’ll see him as immature. Really Blue doesn’t mind waiting, he wants you to see all sides of him before he asks you out but he also won’t say no if you ask him.
Orange - Is still feeling very embarrassed about the whole Myra thing. He wants to ask you out but he is so scared it would ruin your friendship that he is absolutely not going to do that. He values you too much as a friend. He is also keenly aware that Blue likes you a lot and he doesn’t want to stand in the way of that because of that even if you ask him out he’d probably say no but it would destroy him.
Berry - In love with you and has been for a while. Him and his brother now have that deal though so although they are both actively trying to pursue you and stop the others from getting a chance to date you he has to take it slow to ensure you choose both him and Syrup as he doesn’t know how into poly relationships you are or if you’ll even go for it. It’s a slow build making sure you like both him and his brother equally.
Syrup -Is really in the same boat as Berry. His feelings have grown so much with you it is almost unbearable and he finds himself doing stupider and stupider things when around you. The difference is if you asked Syrup out he knows he can convince you to date both him and Berry whereas Berry is scared you’d turn one of them down. Because of his brother's feelings Syrup will wait until you come to them.
Axe-Definitely has a crush but because he hasn’t had one in so long it is really strong to him. It won’t be long until he falls completely for you. You also stuck in his memory which is odd since it’s not that good. He doesn’t remember your real name but he remembers you.
Crooks-Crooks has never really had a crush before and this is driving him insane. He wonders if it normally makes others do stupid things and feels as if he keeps embarrassing himself in front of you. He definitely likes you through and wants to spend more time with you.
Nightmare-He’s fucked and he knows it. You are a lot like his version of you, the one he lost and it didn’t take long for him to fall. He isn’t using you as a replacement but it wasn’t hard for him to fall in love with you. He doesn’t want to go after you though in case you get hurt again. However if you keep being nice to him he won’t be able to hold back.
Dream -He likes you a lot. The last time he knew a you he gave you to his brother but not this time. He feels as if this is his chance but he’s worried you won’t like him back or feel he’s trying to replace someone he didn’t actually know that well. He doesn’t really know what to do but he knows he likes you.
Ink-Is struggling the most over the other version of you he knew and loved. He likes this you but he also feels like there's a lot missing, like your holding back. He’s starting to enjoy the new thinks he’s learning about you but is overall confused about his feelings.
Error- Feels it’s inevitable he falls for you at some point but is trying his hardest not to. Being mean to you didn’t help and you seemed to push all of his buttons but he isn’t going to just give in. He’s pushing you to the back of his mind. Outta sight and all that. Too bad his bedroom is marred with pictures of you.
Killer-Awe he likes you which is not the best. You have a weird effect over his shifts because of how the last you he knew died. He wants to protect you but he also wants to keep you away from everyone else and he knows he’s not the safest. Unless he gets a hold of himself and his emotions this could end badly.
Day-Is staying true to his promise with Killer. He only wants to be friends with you. Of course he is madly in love with you, you’re his wife but he had that ending. He wants to give Blue and Orange a chance to have the happy ending he did. Of course if the others come to him for help he would also help them. As long as you are happy he doesn’t care who you end up with, even if it kills him inside that it can’t be him.
Mint-Thinks you are interesting and attractive but also a filthy human who should die. Don’t feel bad he doesn’t like any humans, not just you. You did make him falter a few times during your most recent stay at the hotel but it means nothing. Or he assumes it means nothing. Theres no possible way it could mean anything.
Mango-Thinks you are amazing and wants to be best friends. It’s just a shame that he can’t seem to get up the nerve to talk to you. There is the beginning of a crush starting to form. Just a sliver of one barely at the surface. If he spends more time with you this will quickly grow.
Roulette-Still doesn’t want to get involved because of his job and your connection to his boss. He knows that technically Damian has given permission on several occasions but feels like your brother isn’t thinking of your safety there. He still has a crush and still thinks your insanely attractive so of course there's no harm in looking but he won’t be actively pursuing you.
Sniper-He feels like the time he got to spend with you during your birthday party helped strengthen your friendship and he realized he likes you. A lot. He is also aware that others like you a whole lot and isn’t sure where to go. His brother keeps talking about how getting involved with you can be dangerous and he sort of sees that but you can’t help who you fall in love with. He needs time to process his feelings and decide if he wants to pursue you.
Colt-Damian gave him the go ahead and he has been in love with you for way longer than he’s actually known you. Skulls is a legend and he always thought they were amazing, meeting you he didn’t realize you could be even more amazing than he ever imagined. Having your older bro (and his best friend) seem to root for him is only spurring him into wanting more of a relationship with you.
Musket -He fell hard and fast which he hopes he’s made obvious from the flirting. Just something about you was so enigmatic to him that he wants to know everything he can about you. Plus being in competition with his brother always poses a fun challenge. It’s too bad work is keeping all of the mafia busy.
Carbine -He has a crush and knows it, you're the only one who can really get him to stop working and he just can’t seem to say no to you. He loved having you as his assistant and would adore it if you did that more but he’s also talked himself into thinking that it’s a crush and nothing more so he will not do anything about it.
Rifle - Likes you a lot. Like a lot a lot. He hasn’t put it together yet that it may be a crush or even more but he will listen in to any conversation that might be about you and will full on fanboy about you when he has a moment. He seriously thinks your amazing and he just wants to see you again.

Undertale University AU??
Hellooo I am new(ish) to tumblr and also the Undertale fandom but I just finished the game a few weeks ago (played neutral and pacifist, watched genocide on youtube because i do not want to kill them myself) !!!! And I loved it a lot so I am finally passionate enough about something to be creative with it So I was like why not make an AU-type thing where everyone goes to university? It's probably been done before (?) but whatever I get to do it again I'm currently thinking of maybe doing some comics and potential fanfiction / writing? Anyway so far I have planned out everyone's majors: Sans - Physics I chose physics for Sans because he's aware of alternate timelines in the game, so I think he would be interested in quantum physics specifically. Papyrus - Game Design I had trouble coming up with a major for Papyrus at first but finally decided on game design. Here he can be creative with all of his interests as well as create puzzles for players to solve. He also seems to be online a lot in-game so I think this would be perfect for him Mettaton - Theatre This one is pretty self-explanatory, he likes to be dramatic and will do great in theatre. There is also a cutscene of him acting in-game so I think it fits Alphys - Computer Science (with Biochem as a 2nd major or minor) Alphys very much programs in-game as stated by Mettaton when he talks about her naming programming variables after Undyne, and she builds machines and robots! And Biochem might change but I chose this based on her experiments in the True Lab, I felt maybe those would be considered biology? Undyne - Criminology (potential focus on forensics) Undyne is a cop in Deltarune so I felt like this major fits Napstablook - Music (minor in business) Napstablook seems to be very passionate about music so that is their true passion, but their parents wanted them to become a business major so they could carry on the family business. They were originally a business major to appease their parents but decided to just have it be a minor and follow their true passion. Shyren - Music Obviously Muffet - Literature Muffet talks very properly in-game and is also based on the fairytale "Little Miss Muffet" so I thought this would fit! Toriel - Theatre Professor? Maybe English At the end of Undertale hard mode (where you name yourself Frisk) Toriel reveals she was acting out being dead so clearly she has the ability to be involved in theatrics. But she also gives off English teacher vibes and likes to read a lot so I'm not sure. Maybe both? Asgore - Biology Professor In Deltarune, Asgore grows his own flowers. I also need the professors to teach classes the characters will actually attend so this works lol Alphys will be in his class W.D. Gaster - Physics Professor Specializes in quantum physics and has his own lab at the university where he conducts research. Some people find him a little shady, but Sans works in his lab and does research under him. I'm very excited to work on this more, hopefully I have the time!! I also haven't really drawn much before but I will try my best :P Thanks for reading!

To kind of differentiate/clarify, I decided to start a little "chart" explaining the characterizations of Invertedfell as opposed to a swapped au
The baseline I've been working from is essentially: the characters are the same at their core, but all of their main characteristics are the linear opposites of those traits. So like, opposite ends of the same spectrum kind of deal
I haven't finished it and it's just been sitting in my wips, but since I'd done a few, I decided to post at least those
Flowey, Toriel, Sans, & Papyrus below the cut
Flowey
UT - sarcastic, bitter, lonely, OG Flowey is the reincarnation of a child whose final days caused significant enough trauma he believes himself emotionless and regularly participates in self destructive actions.
⬇️
UF - scared, resentful, exhausted, the way I generally interpret uf Flowey is the reincarnation of an anxious, yet feebly hopeful child who's greatest fears were realized and had what little innocence he'd retained stripped from him violently. He'd struggled with acceptance initially, but over time, was worn down into someone just as desperate and tired as everyone else...
⬇️
IF - calm, quiet, avoidant, instead of sinking into despair and resentment, he'd swayed more toward despondent. Overwhelmed and afraid of experiencing hope only to be let down again, instead of anger he is averse, wishing to abandon his world the way it'd abandoned him. Yet he can't entirely let go all the same...
~
Toriel
UT - kind, self righteous, isolated, Toriel is shown to be a very motherly person, but it is made clear quickly that she's been through much and it has affected her deeply.
⬇️
UF - fearful, manic, desperate, with the stakes much higher than in UT, I imagine her UF counterpart's experiences splintered what meager stability she'd originally retained. At times unpredictable, she does still care, but the way she shows it can be dangerous.
⬇️
IF - detached, withdrawn, despondent, falling less into the brink of madness, she shut down instead. Cold and aloof, she tries to sever her own feelings to maintain her sanity, and actively avoids others to the best of her ability, no longer wanting to play a role in this twisted game.
~
Sans
UT - laid back, weary, secretive, most think of Sans' humor as his defining character trait, but we can see throughout the individual runs, Sans tends toward being passive aggressive, pessimistic, and outright sad. He’s weighed down by responsibility and a stubborn attachment to hope he seems to resent at the worst of times, yet it's what enables him to endure despite.
⬇️
UF - disingenuous, anxious, miserable, the way I interpret uf Sans is essentially just Sans but with significantly worse depression. Not only has he accumulated the same perceived failures as his original self, but he’s bogged down by many new ones, too. He’s beyond exhausted, deflects with dark humor often, but aside from coming across more tense and a little more cruel, he’s not all that different from his original counterpart.
⬇️
IF - aggressive, unstable, stubborn, under similar pressures, he instead swayed more toward desperation than apathetic acceptance. Paranoid and willing to do whatever it takes to protect himself and his brother, he’s given up that stubborn shred of hope in a ditch effort just to keep surviving.
~
Papyrus
UT - boisterous, optimistic, indecisive, Papyrus might come across as naive and conceited, but it becomes clear quickly that he’s more aware than he lets on. He is fickle, changing his opinions and goals often and frequently throughout the game, yet stubbornly remains upbeat and positive, no matter what.
⬇️
UF - brash, uncertain, defensive, the way I interpret uf Papyrus draws mostly from his reflectiveness, that despite still being optimistic and wanting similar things to his original counterpart, he’s learned to mask or disregard these things to better his chances of surviving and taking care of his brother.
⬇️
IF - standoffish, deceitful, driven, with the shift in everyone else, again, Papyrus reflects. As his brother became less predictable, the person he had to become instead is a pillar. "Ruthless" and interested only in what will keep him and his brother safe.
~
And as always, this isn't carved in stone. The more I work on this au these characterizations may change some as I grow more familiar with them, but! Feel free to ask questions abt these guys or anything else for this au ✨

Forgettable?
So, the first place we learn that resets and loads lead to the reset-er being forgotten is during the ASRIEL DREEMURR fight, at the end of True Pacifist. Which lines up with our friends never remembering us or anything we did, just a vague feeling of deja vu when they meet us for the first time.
This brings up questions about a lot of the characters, and why being forgotten is such a recurring theme. Like, if being forgotten is a property of resetting/loading, why is Papyrus "forgettable"? Why can no one remember the Blooks' real names (and, somewhat relevant, where the heck did Ruins Dummy go and why is no one looking for them)? Why is sans worried about forgetting his 3 friends in the picture (and who the heck are they???)?
And then, over in Deltarune, it's not that nobody remembers Dess, but Noelle is the only one looking for her. And being forgotten must be something that's bugging Dess, because she's the one telling us "don't forget, I'm with you in the dark", almost like, maybe she's being brave about where she is. Also, the song was very corrupted in Chapter 2. If this ends up becoming a trend in future chapters, with an increasing amount of corruption, could that be a symbol of Dess' increasing corruption within in the void? Possibly of her being forgotten by more and more people who knew her?
Speaking of the void, I might as well bring in the most well-known forgotten character. Yeah, Gaster was shattered across time and space, most likely when he fell into either the Core or the darkness that he opened in Entry 17; but since it takes Determination to save/load/reset and Gaster was doing Determination experiments at the same time he was building the Core and running the Entry 17 experiment, we don't yet know that Gaster being shattered wasn't simply the result of, perhaps, a literal explosion of Determination that shattered him. (And if this is the case, it would certainly explain how Dess can be trapped in the void without being completely forgotten- she simply wasn't shattered).
And then there's the evidence that Kris may have reset, and that's why they can remember Susie and Ralsei, but they don't remember Kris.
And I still feel like SFB is relevant here. Even if it's not directly connected to Undertale or Deltarune, it is definitely a very. big. clue. as to how characters gain self-awareness, and they do NOT reach this achievement without causing major corruption to the world around them. We see this with Flowey and ASRIEL DREEMURR, how they can drag us into some nightmarish black... well, void, in order to try to destroy us. Spamton is the epitome of a corrupted save file, and Jevil can do anything, including manipulating the room (the world?) into a revolving carousel (not to mention that Jevil's cell door, and the cell beyond, appear to be outside of normal game space; plus, there's his insistence that he's the only one who's free).
And while were talking about self-aware Darkners, what about Ralsei? The little guy sure seems to know a lot more than he should, eh? And it's not like he's not unforgettable- he was surprised when Susie remembered his Pacify spell after fighting Spade King, and Queen straight-up forgot all about him when she caged up everyone else upon our arrival at her mansion.
And, while I don't feel like his character matches any of these examples- he sure ain't self-aware, he can't manipulate anything, he turned himself into a jackass and a moron- I'm still gonna throw Berdly into this mix, because he described himself as a "forgettable little bluebird," and I think anybody who is easily forgotten should be in this post.
One more thing about Papyrus: why does sans never mention him by name? And if Noelle really did hatch Papyrus from an egg, why can't she remember his name? And why does it bug her so much that she can't?

11. Consequences
Behind the bruise-colored socket rims, there was panic flickering in his eyes. As there should be.
“You’re late. Again.” Flowey rebuked Sans coldly. “It’s making me start to think that you’re not so keen on our deal anymore, hmm?”
The skeleton kept his head bowed, shoulders tense. “i’m here, aren’t i? let’s just--”
“An HOUR after I said to meet me! I was THIS close to fetching Papyrus to take your place!”
Sans flinched, wringing his hands in stress. “i swear i set my alarm, but i slept through it, ‘m not trying to flake out, i’m jus’.... so tired.”
He certainly looked it.
“i ... i feel like i’m livin’ two lives, and i barely have the energy for one. pretending that none of this is happening is exhausting....” He seemed to want to say more, but lost the nerve before he could.
“Golly, those really sound like excuses!” Flowey taunted. “Maybe one of these times you decide to sleep through a session, you’ll just happen to wake up back in Snowdin, hehe!”
“st-stop. i get it, okay?”
“Mmm.... I don’t know....” Flowey flashed him a sharp-toothed grin. “I think a little lesson is in order. Just to help you avoid more drastic consequences.” His vines erupted from the ground, startling the trashy monster, though Sans at least knew better than to dodge.
Wrapping him in a loose restriction, Flowey forced him on his knees, lifting his arms up over his head. Only two tendril tips -- one at either side -- hovered threateningly close. “I suppose you need some motivation to stay awake! Let’s see how well you do!” Giggling slyly, Flowey unleashed a wave of spores that lingered in the air.
Though he couldn’t see what Flowey had done, Sans felt a warm weight pulling at his senses, smothering his fear in grogginess. His frame drooped, sockets starting to close.
As soon as he was starting to drift, the tendrils sprang into motion, poking his ribs and teasing under his arms.
“gh-hhk--!” Sans jolted back to consciousness, twisting and giggling, though remarkably still had enough self-awareness not to object to the treatment as per Flowey’s ever-standing rule.
Once Flowey had backed off, Sans grunted and fidgeted; the spore’s effects were back upon him just as heavily as before. But with how sleepy he already was, he didn’t have enough fight in him left to resist.
Again and again, Flowey cruelly jarred him awake. It wasn’t long before the skeleton was shedding frustrated tears, trembling badly. Finally, paranoia set in, allowing him to stave off sleep long enough for his tormentor’s satisfaction.
Back in his bed, Sans sniffled and whimpered. Every time he closed his eyes, phantom vines plagued his dreams, keeping him up until the crack of dawn.
He vowed never to keep Flowey waiting again.

PacifideTale Frisk and Chara (Undertale AU)
Tumblr media
PacifideTale Frisk and Chara are two semi-immortal children who are on a mission to visit all Undertale AU and save all their alternates and counterparts while killing and slaughtering any threatening monsters in the way. The six souls also joins and follows them on their mission, however they are not themselves.
Frisk is somewhat the leader of the group as she's also a host for Chara and the six souls. While Frisk is still a pacifist and still has a kind caring heart, she has no problem going through with genocide. Frisk also has no problem allowing her body being control by Chara and the six souls. Frisk came from an abusive family and would cover up her wounds and bruises with both bandages and clothing. She finds herself fighting for her life in both pacific and genocide route mainly because the monsters want her soul to free themselves from the underground, she wasn't always successful in her battles and have died multiple times causing her to be reminded on her old abusive life. While her scars reminds her of the pain she's been through, she refuses to make them fade away just so she would be reminded on why she chose the path she goes on. She goal at first was the help free the monsters in the pacific route and succeeded until she restarted out of guilt for the six souls. She was planning on going through with the same pacific route until she went down the genocide route upon becoming self-aware of some of the monsters motives like Toriel attempting to keep Frisk hidden from the world and as a replacement for her deceased children (not to mention her attacking Frisk first), Papyrus wanting to send Frisk to the guards where she would be killed, Mettaton obviously wanted to kill her for her soul for himself so he could escape and be popular, Undyne and Asgore wanting to kill and take her soul so they break the barrier for the monsters to escape. None of them have even bothered to ask nor made a deal with her for her soul...not to mention the other previous children, she would have considered giving up her soul. And the fact that Sans would call her a monster despite almost all the monsters wanting her dead for her soul seemed to have triggered her to the point where she calls out Sans for what the monsters ahve done to the previous and how he supporting Papyrus down that road (and not once protected her like he promised) before being killed and teams up with Chara (and the six souls) to get revenge and to erase her world. Upon finding out that there are different worlds out there and knowing that there are alternate versions and different counterparts of her that could be going through her pain if not worse, she made it her life mission to go save them all and take out only the threateningly monsters.
Chara is a supporting leader and partner in crime. Chara did not trick nor manipulated Frisk, Frisk actually managed to persuade Chara into joining the mission. In fact, Chara isn't manipulative towards Frisk despite still wanting to kill and erase everything, but was a bit manipulative towards the six souls before they changed though she mainly did it to give her and Frisk more help when they need it. Though Chara was planning on manipulating Frisk at first. Chara would guide Frisk through various of things, would explain all types of things like food, people, and etc. sometime. However, when it comes to battle Chara would research and inform Frisk of their foes like who they are, they weaknesses, what they've done, and etc.. Chara would make sure that Frisk is constantly healed so that Frisk wouldn't die and if anything goes wrong they can always go back in time. Chara would possess Frisk when she's either struggling or to talk and fight the foe herself despite having the ability to reveal herself without Frisk's help. Due to Frisk unexpectedly gained new abilities and Frisk having the ability to use her determination to go to one AU to another, Chara soon gained the soul of SAVE which gave her new powers and abilities. Chara gives Frisk her own golden heart necklace and knife as a way to let Frisk know that she's trusts and that she was fully on Frisk's side.
The six souls are the souls of the previous children (after Chara) who were killed by the monsters. They weren't corrupted nor wanting to harm the monsters who killed them at first, until Chara reminded them how the monsters killed them without mercy, took and used their souls without their permission, and how Frisk would end up just like them if they didn't step up. These reminders along with knowing that Frisk could end up just like them, they agreed and ended up...changing. They don't really possess Frisk as they mostly just give Frisk their powers and abilities, but they do reveal themselves to their foes and will fight alongside with Frisk and will posses Frisk when necessary.
And yes! I know it's really spelled "pacified" and not "pacifide". It's for a pretty good reason.

ok this discussion about jungkook’s chart is getting interesting, and the thing that is making me more curious and curious is that even with a leo rising he would be a leo moon in his sideral 🥲, also he would be a cancer rising .. idk if this makes sense but maybe it would explain his soft features?? like round eyes, him being a roundie lol. also with moon in the first house this can also explain those beautiful starry, shiny round eyes 🥹 aaaa this man ..
the only thing that is making me question a bit is that MC in aries, because personally i never ever seen him as an aries or with aries vibes. but at the same time him ruled by saturn and his placements in the 8th house seems to me a bit too much??? like his energy seem to be lighter than that.. idk lmao. also with a cap rising he would have a chiron in the 10th house, i don’t really see it but honestly i think that to judge this placement u really have to be him, seeing from the outside is not easy.
at the same time he looks really approachable like a leo rising but he’s still an introverted like a typical virgo lol, this man is getting me an headache 😭😭😭
sorry for this long papyrus (if you can call it that lol) i really like to see different perspectives, and i want to know your point of view if you agree <3
It's amazing that we are able to have such conversations!! I really enjoy sharing points of view and I 100% always encourage you guys to take a stand!!!
I wish I had more time to be online for it 🥹
I also love the line this man is getting me an headache because yeah same, it's always like that with jk (gotta love him tho)
I agree, although I personally am terrified of Leo vibes so I don't approach them, I see how it would make him appear more approachable esp because usually the virgo/cap combo would be a hell of an impression even more so if we compare it to idk say the big cap vibe Taehyung exudes and we've been made aware of by people that have met them.
I doooooo believe he has that big vibe of 'wow factor' to him although in a different light just from that one article that said "the room fell silent as the youngest one walked into the room"
And I gotta agree with the whole soft features linking to his sideral too because 🥹 gotta love it as for the 10H Chiron idk if we take it with a pinch of salt and look more into it as an interaction within his chart, it would explain his steady pace in vocal training along with some time before wanting to just be a dancer, come back to being mainly a vocalist and that one streak of his we saw more recently of him going back to pursue dancing. Especially, at least from my view as a therapeutic companion, it would explain how we see him more loose and truly himself as he starts to fully envelop his self-esteem and success as an artist (10H Chiron is said to present itself as a healing journey that begins with developing your self-esteem and career success)
But I couldn't have said it better! Just as you pointed out: honestly i think that to judge this placement u really have to be him, seeing from the outside is not easy. Kudos to that!

Skeleton Darkners is in that space where i don’t buy most of the Evidence cited for it but i also don’t buy a lot of the of the arguments i’ve seen against it. the evidence feels like an overthinking of cherrypicked details that are more likely coincidences than anything else. on the other hand i feel like a lot of the refutations betray a lack of… i dunno… curiosity?
“shouldn’t they just be objects in the light world?” yeah. exactly. they should be. if they’re darkners walking around and retaining their form in the light world then that means they’re anomalies. is that not an interesting possibility in a game that incorporates glitches and game-breaking behavior into its diegesis? in a story that seems interested in examining the process of story-creation and the relationships between creators, creations, and audiences, in which darkners represent self-aware fictional characters? doesn’t that seem consistent with the skeletons' generally anomalous natures? why the hell do they have dark world doors in their house???
“why isn’t ralsei making a fuss about it?” who’s to say he knows about it? he doesn’t know about jevil or spamton before meeting them and they’re absolutely Problem Darkners. i don't think the evidence holds that ralsei is all-knowing; he has a Prophecy and some way of detecting other Fountains when they open, but he doesn’t seem to be clued into stuff otherwise. not to mention... if the person who’s feeding him information is also one of the people who escaped, then it follows that they could keep that information from him if they needed to.
“but how did they enter the light world at all?” <- a question i’ve posed myself in the past that is currently unanswerable, though we do know that spamton thinks it involves using a lightner’s SOUL. where’d he get that idea from? did he just make it up because he’s Random and Unhinged or is it possible he learned about it from someone? are there any known lightners who are presently unaccounted for? i can think of one. that does bring up the question of “did sans and papyrus take SOULs too?” to which i’d say i’m EXTREMELY skeptical that either of them would do that lol. but it’s possible that it isn’t as simple as Steal a Lightner SOUL, Become a Real Boy. maybe a Lightner SOUL is just part of a bigger equation? why does the story even have spamton make such a big deal out of the possibility of a darkner “reaching heaven” in the first place if that isn’t an idea it’s looking to explore further?
i think part of the issue is that most of this theorycraft centers around sans and papyrus being darkners and i just don’t think that’s the most fruitful lens for interrogating this given the current information. there aren’t majorly compelling reasons right now for why either of them should have originated as darkners, but i do think there are compelling reasons to think gaster in particular might have. light and dark are a balance, right? we have our Forces of Light. who’s our Force of Darkness? gaster’s entire deal centers around darkness, in both literal and metaphorical senses, as a major motif. he’s a satan figure, a representative of temptation and want; he’s a gnawing absence, an unknown that begs to be understood; he’s an eye peering through a crack in the wall. ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN seems to discuss a descent into darkness beyond dark. memoryhead has only six faces until you count the laughing skull that they comprise. we may even have a direct foil for gaster in a specific missing lightner who parallels him in situation yet contrasts him in motifs. they’re mutually connected to noelle, who’s attuned to the unknown, a conduit between the Real and Unreal, the only lightner gaster seems to attempt to contact directly (barring the tree rooms, which may have more to do with the Player than they do with kris). does it not make sense for this story’s greatest arbiter of darkness — the one who, by the story’s own logic, is fulfilling a certain Purpose to a higher/greater power by facilitating the Player’s entry into a layer of reality below theirs — to be, himself, a darkner?

Been a long time coming but I was too busy with Bad Sansuary to finish this last one up. I had originally planned two more bonus chapters but I think the story ends nicely here. Besides, I'm ready to wrap up this project.
This chapter happens immediately after Chapter 30: Souls btw.
First Day & Previous Day.
Bonus 3: Respite
You let Papyrus go with Sans so they could talk with Gaster on their own. It just seemed fair to you somehow.
Instead, you turned your attention to Frisk who was still standing near the King and Queen. While you were still a bit lightheaded, you were able to stand up and walk so long as you were careful.
Frisk glanced over as soon as you approached and a bright grin immediately broke out over their face. They turned and practically went to tackle you, except you scooped them up into a fierce bear hug and embraced them.
"I'm so glad you're safe..." you whispered. Your voice trembled and you couldn't manage to hold everything together any longer. While you normally hated crying in front of strangers, you no longer cared if anyone thought badly of you.
It was finally over. Against all odds, you'd both survived. Surely, this was the best possible ending... You couldn't imagine how things could be any better at least.
Frisk loosened their hold on you and lightly patted your shoulder to get your attention. When you let go slightly and pulled back, you could see that they had been crying as well from the tear tracks running down their cheeks. They vigorously wiped their face on their sweater sleeves and smiled weakly.
"I tried so hard..." they signed slowly. "This is it now... We can't go back anymore."
Your eyes widened slightly at the realization of what they meant set it. This was permanent and there would be no more resets. Now it was your turn to get them through the days ahead and, while you were a little anxious, you were glad to put this whole difficult journey behind you.
"You did so good, Frisk. I couldn't have done any of this without you," you responded. "Thank you..."
They seemed relieved to hear that and smiled more genuinely. "I love you..." they signed.
With a slight chuckle, you ruffled their fluffy hair and pressed a quick kiss on the top of their head, much to their embarrassment. "I love you too, kiddo."
Your self awareness suddenly kicked in and you glanced up to find the three goat monsters just quietly watching you and Frisk's reunion. You swallowed nervously and out of habit pulled Frisk a bit closer again, except they resisted and pushed off your chest much to your surprise.
"This is Asriel, my best friend," they signed and motioned to the little goat monster you'd never seen before.
The goat child glanced at Toriel before approaching you apprehensively. He had similar scruffy white fur as his parents did, long floppy ears, and a pair of fangs that slightly poked out of his mouth. He also had a pair of sharp but stubby horns on the top of his head and his eyes were yellow with a red ring around the black sclera. You couldn't be sure of his age, but from his green and yellow striped sweater and black overalls, he seemed older than Frisk, maybe eight or nine?
"Um, hi... It's nice to meet you properly this time," he said. His voice was a bit gruffer than you'd initially expected and while he seemed rather shy right now, there was a bit of a teasing lilt in his tone.
"Sorry, we've met before?" Turning to Frisk, you asked, "And when did you make a best friend?"
Frisk grinned in a mischievous way before responding. "He was trapped in a flower until now. Remember Flowey?" When you nodded, they added, "Well, I gave him a small piece of my soul so he could return to his true form."
To say you were concerned was a bit of an understatement. While you still didn't know much about souls in general, even you knew that a person's soul was not something that could just be given away carelessly.
Glancing between both children, you couldn't help the slight frown that flickered across your face. "Frisk...how? Are you okay...?" You had no idea how to respond to this situation and your tongue couldn't seem to form any substantial sentences at the moment.
While Asriel couldn't maintain eye contact with you, Frisk seemed confident with their decision. They nodded vigorously and quickly tried to reassure you. "I had a lot of Determination, much more than most people do, so I gave Asriel some of it to form a soul for him. Which is why I can't do that...thing anymore. We'll be fine, okay?"
You didn't really understand what they meant but if Frisk was so sure that everything would be okay, then you would do your best to trust them. They had been responsible for freeing everyone after all, the least you could do was believe them, right?
"Alright then. While I don't fully understand all this, I'm glad you both seem to be fine." With a smile, you turned to Asriel again, "Nice to meet you then. I apologize but I had no idea you and Frisk were so close."
"It's alright..." The goat child smiled sheepishly and rubbed the fur on the back of his neck. "I'll be honest, I didn't know they thought of me that way either. They're really amazing, aren't they?"
You grinned and moved some stray hair strands out of Frisk's face. "They really are..." you murmured.
Toriel placed a furry paw on Asriel's shoulder and squeezed him in an affectionate way. "I... Or rather we, are so, so grateful to have our son back. Thank you, Frisk..."
Asgore had been very quiet after everything that had happened. If you were to guess, he seemed to be the strong and stoic type who rarely showed any emotion. Still, he had shed more than a few tears earlier when first reunited with his son, so he wasn't completely heartless at least. You still didn't like him though and that probably wouldn't change any time soon.
He knelt down in front of Frisk and bowed his head slightly, but he was still much taller than them even like this. "Thank you...Frisk, for bringing Asriel back. And thank you for breaking the barrier when we could not," he said solemnly.
Frisk smiled sweetly up at the now humbled king. They lightly patted his massive furry paw with their much smaller hand before answering. "You're welcome!"
The King turned his gaze to you, his yellow eyes still glistening with emotions, but that air of solemn duty he had been exuding earlier was back. "I want to do what is best for my people and I believe right now peace with your kind is the right thing to do. Forgive me, but would you be willing to help with the negotiations with the human government? Like an ambassador of sorts?" he asked.
Frisk nodded excitedly but you frowned and put your hand on their shoulder, which got their attention. Squaring your shoulders, you addressed the King of Monsters for the second time today.
"I am going to have to decline your offer on the basis that neither of us have any experience with politics and Frisk isn't even seven." You held up a finger before he could interject, "However, I am willing to help for the sake of all the friends I've made and to make a better world for everyone."
While he seemed a little disappointed, Asgore seemed to take your rejection pretty well. He stood up again and gave you a firm nod. "Very well... I suppose it was presumptuous of me to ask, especially after everything you've both been through."
He pressed his furry paw against his gold plated chestplate before adding, "I will make a decree that no monster is to harm a human. If there is to be true peace, we must prove to your kind that we are willing to put aside our past grievances."
"For the sake of our son and our people, I will assist in negotiating with the humans," Toriel stated. Her tone of voice had turned cold as she turned to address Asgore but there was still a spark of hope in her eyes, despite the obvious tension between them.
The King seemed momentarily taken aback and he started to say something, but stopped himself. "We should sit down and discuss how things will be going forward," he mentioned with a bit of an awkward cough.
Toriel only let out a low hum in agreement and narrowed her yellow eyes at him.
You felt incredibly awkward all of the sudden, wanting to be anywhere but next to the bitter former couple. You didn't want to just walk away, although you didn't know what or if you should say anything.
Fortunately, you were saved from making a fool of yourself when Undyne scooped both Frisk and Asriel up in each arm. The goat child let out a startled bleat and flailed his arms for a bit until he realized he wasn't going to fall. Undyne then shifted both children so they were sitting on each of her shoulders and chuckled, flashing a sharp toothed grin at you as she did so.
"I don't know how you did it, but congrats! The barrier is gone!" she exclaimed. Her grin faltered a little and in a quieter voice she added, "I wasn't so sure I'd ever get to see it for myself and if I did, never like this."
Frisk attempted to give the fish lady a hug but could only wrap their arms around her head. They ended up just leaning down and resting their upper body and head on top of hers, earning a quiet chuckle from her.
You couldn't help but smile at the adorable sight. "I don't understand it myself but I suppose it doesn't really matter. We're here and we managed to do so without much bloodshed. I'm just so happy..."
You trailed off as you felt your throat start to close up again and the familiar sting of tears at the corners of your eyes. Taking a deep breath, you managed to blink away your tears before they could flow down your cheeks. Alphys then appeared next you and placed one of her clawed hands on your arm in a reassuring manner.
"I don't know how to begin to thank either of you for being willing to support us. The chances of our plan even working were slim and if we'd failed, I know it would have cost both of you greatly," you finally said, doing your best to keep your voice even, although it was a bit difficult.
Undyne carefully set the kids back onto the ground and scratched the back of her neck. "Ah, well, of course we'd help. Friends stick by each other..." she murmured in a much quieter voice than she usually did. Her gills and cheekbones seemed to become a deeper blue and she was having a hard time actually looking at you all of the sudden.
For once, Alphys didn't seem like the more shy one of the two women and she gave you a gentle smile. "I'd been working on finding a way to break the barrier for my whole tenure as Royal Scientist. I'm just very glad it's all over and that we can finally have peace." She grew thoughtful for a moment before adding, "Even if this hadn't worked, it was worth a try I think. I'm just glad we could help you and put an end to the violence."
"Me too," you hummed.
When the skeletons eventually rejoined the group, you began to sense a sort of anticipation in the air. You felt a similar sense of excitement as it had been months since you'd seen the sun and had all but given up on seeing it again. You thought the monsters actually seemed a little hesitant though, as if they were afraid to take the first step outside in possibly a millenia or more.
Frisk tugged at your sleeve and motioned to the opening in the cave. You gave them a gentle nod and they instantly grabbed one of Asriel's paws, beginning to pull him towards the fading sunlight. That seemed to be the push the others needed and they began to follow the children to the surface. The older monsters followed at a slower pace and you noticed how solemn their expressions had become.
Papyrus glanced back at you and tilted his skull. When you realized he was waiting, you darted over and gave him a hug. He smiled and pressed a skeleton kiss against the top of your head, before wrapping an arm around you and guiding you towards the sunlight.
The sun had sunk halfway below the horizon, colouring the sky with a canvas of reds, oranges, and yellows. You took a deep breath of the crisp mountain air but instead of focusing on the sunset, you turned to see the reactions of your friends instead.
Asgore and Toriel still seemed solemn and you could see their eyes once again glistening with tears of joy. You couldn't help but wonder what the world had been like back before the war that had trapped them Underground. Hopefully, things would be better now.
Asriel had a small frown on his face and you noticed he seemed a little sad. At least Frisk was quick to comfort them but your heart went out to the poor goat child. No one deserved to be sad, let alone children, and you hoped he would be okay.
Undyne was completely silent for once but you swore you could see her good eye sparkling with unbridled excitement. There was a wide grin plastered across her face and while her body was tense, it was as if she was trying to desperately contain herself while everyone took in the view.
Alphys seemed awestruck as well and her jaw dropped which she quickly covered with her hands. The glow of the last few rays of sunshine reflected off her round glasses and you couldn't look directly at her for very long. She caught your eye and you saw her cheeks flush a bright pink, although she quickly looked up at Undyne rather than try to duck away from embarrassment.
Gaster's expression seemed rather clinical and he had propped up his chin with one hand in silent contemplation. You couldn't imagine what was going through his skull right now and you weren't about to ask either. Maybe he was thinking about the future? You would have to sit down and have a proper conversation to get to know him at some point.
Sans wore the widest grin you'd ever seen on his face. His hands were stuffed into his gray hoodie's pockets as he slowly rocked back and forth on his heels. You realized he'd noticed you staring at him when he turned his skull slightly to look at you out of the corner of his eye sockets. His crimson eyelights seemed to glitter with an almost childlike wonder and you couldn't help but smile back at him.
Papyrus' scarlet pinpricks were similarly sparkling but the expression he wore was more serious than that of his brother. He couldn't seem to tear his eye sockets away from the sky or the sunset even for a moment. His arm was still wrapped around your waist but his grip on you had slackened as he took in as much of the beautiful sight as he could.
"Sans..." he finally murmured. "Is That...?"
His brother hummed quietly in agreement. "yep, that's the sun..."
"I Never Thought I Would Actually See It..."
You slid one of your hands up his back and leaned against his chestplate in an attempt to get even closer together. "You can see the real stars too if we wait long enough," you remarked softly, although your voice was still loud enough for the others to hear.
There were quiet murmurs of agreement, although some were more enthusiastic than others, and you couldn't help but smile to yourself.
It didn't take long for the sun to finally dip below the horizon and the last of the brilliant colours to give way to twilight. By then, everyone had gotten settled into various groups on the mountainside to wait for the first star to make its presence known.
You took this moment to have a bit of a silent reflection. So much had changed over the last several months, you'd made several new friends, learned a ton about an entirely new culture, helped set a civilization free to rejoin humanity, found out you actually had magic, and now you were technically engaged with a monster. Your life had definitely taken a turn for the better and while the reintegration of Monsters into Human society likely wouldn't be easy, you were ultimately hopeful for what the future held.
At some point, Frisk made their way back to you and Papyrus trailed behind them. You smiled and made room so they could sit in the soft grass next to you. Frisk was all to happy to sit in your lap and sprawl out on top of you, which you didn't mind in the slightest. Papyrus on the other hand seemed content to just hold you close and rest his clavicle on the top of your head.
You could hear quiet gasps of surprise from the other monsters when the first stars appeared. It didn't take long for the sky to be dotted with hundreds of little twinkling lights and even you found yourself in awe at the sight. The light pollution in the city had never allowed you to see nearly this many, even on clearer nights like this one.
Frisk suddenly patted your arm to get your attention and when you glanced down at them, they grinned up at you. "Thank you for being there and always encouraging me...Mom..."
For a second, you wondered if they'd made a mistake and used the wrong sign or if you'd misinterpreted them. But no, they had tapped their thumb to their chin with an open hand and by the way their cheeks had flushed a light pink, you realized it wasn't that kind of mistake.
You didn't know what to say for several long seconds. Once you'd managed to find your voice, you gave their fluffy hair a gentle pat. "Do you see me like that, kiddo? As a parent...?" you asked quietly.
They looked surprised for a moment before slowly nodding.
"Do you want me to be?"
"Yes! I would!" they signed excitedly as a wide grin broke across their face. "I love you so much!"
You smiled and moved some stray locks of their hair out of their face. "Alright then, I'll try looking into seeing if your parents will allow me to become your guardian, okay?"
Papyrus let out a soft chuckle and pulled away from you a little bit. "I Told You So, Precious," he teased.
You huffed and gave him a bit of a playful swat. "Yeah, you did, multiple times in fact! I didn't want to promise something I couldn't make good on, okay?" You sighed and looked away from both of them before adding, "I'm not even sure if your parents will agree to this, but I'm going to try my hardest. I guess...after everything, I've come to see you as my own... I love you so much, Frisk."
Frisk wrapped their arms around your waist and buried their face in your sweater. You gave them a gentle hug back as best you could in this position.
Glancing back at Papyrus, you furrowed your brows slightly as a realization occured to you. "Are you okay with this? I know in the past you expressed that you don't like kids very much..."
He shook his skull and gave Frisk an affectionate pat on their back. "I Like Frisk And I Would Be Willing To Try Being In Their Life. Whether That Means Being An Actual Father Figure Or Just Continuing Supporting Both Of You Like I Have Already," he said.
You smiled and put your hand on top of his. This seemed like a great arrangement and you couldn't help feeling a little excited at the idea of having a family.
Things would turn out okay.

Okay, hear me out, yandere house where their brother got you tied up in a wedding dress in their brothers room?
WARNING: Yandere, Blood, gore, toxic Relations
13: Ok so I think you meant Sans kidnapped MC and has them tied up in Papyrus’ room in a wedding dress and that’s the reaction you want. If this is wrong, sorry but that’s what we’re going with.
Sans -He doesn’t notice at first. Honestly he hardly leaves his room so the fact that Papyrus managed to get you in here is a miracle in itself. When Sans finally does notice you he just sort of leaves you there for a while, while he finishes up whatever he was doing before untying you and making some bad jokes about how you should really be more careful. The outfit does register and he tells you you look good but nothing else.
Papyrus -He gives you such genuine compliments but makes no move to untie you. In fact you stay there for most of the day as Papyrus rambles and goes around cleaning. It’s not the worst but it’s definitely not the best, especially since the ropes are cutting into your arms.
Red -He begins flirting with you before your outfit really hits him and he gets super self conscious and upset. He angrily unties you and tells you to get out wanting to be alone. Seeing you in a wedding dress just makes him think he’ll never have that. It’s best to leave unless you want to get yelled at and threatened.
Edge -He doesn’t seem to register the outfit or he is just not interested. He’ll offer you some tea before untying you and insisting on checking you over for cuts or bruises, after all his brother can be a little rough at times. He is very polite and lets you go, much to Red’s disappointment.
Blue -Squeals in delight, after all his baby brother must have gone through some trouble to get him such a pretty gift tied in a bow. He keeps telling you how lovely you look and will be his bride as he keeps you there, planning the wedding. If you don’t participate or play along he might get a bit upset so the quicker you plan a wedding the sooner you will be united.
Orange -Ok he loves the gift but he is also well aware his brother is doing this to spite him and he is not going to fall for it. He doesn’t want you to know he’s a creep even if his brother definitely doesn’t care. He quickly unties you and asks all the right questions checking to see if your ok whilst using this to his advantage and trying to get you to trust him more.
Berry -He freezes in shock, not entirely sure what to do. He slowly makes his way over to you and runs his hand over your soft skin, a memorized look cover his features until he suddenly snaps out of it and begins to stutter out an apology as he unties you. He avoids looking directly at you and you don’t see him the rest of the day. Syrup found the whole thing very amusing.
Syrup -Has to do a double take when he sees you. You look stunning, but he can’t leave you like that. You look so distraught no matter how many things he could do to you rush through his mind. He lets you go but not before giving you a genuine compliment about how you look and apologizing for his brother.

i rambled off about sans and papyrus not being skeletons, so heres anothed quick thought:
how screwed would the undertale cast be if they actually came to the surface? in the credits we see them having fun, going to the beach, preforming acts, driving cars, etc, but if we looked at it from a more realistic standpoint, would it really be like that?
a lot of people are pretty mean, and coming from the fact that monsters were forcibly put down into the ground after a big war, im sure the undertale universe's version of conservatives would hate monsters. They could get targeted and attacked, especially depending on where they actually are on earth.
another thing, its not really going to be the monster population reuniting with humans. its more like a big family of out-of-towners moving into a strange place. why? because the population of monsters is INCREDIBLY TINY. we know there are millions of humans on the planet, and according from the genocide route, theres about,, i dunno, 100 monsters. thats barely ANYTHING. most CITIES contain hundreds of thousands of people! the undertale cast really is just one giant family.
unless of course, theres more? we are only ever looking at mount ebott in the story. are there other monsters across earth? maybe other parts of the world also had monsters shoved underground. maybe some were completely put to extinction in that area. maybe some are still on the surface but enslaved. maybe some actually live in harmony? maybe theres a town or city or even a whole country thats ran by ONLY monsters!!
maybe, just maybe, mount ebott really is the only source left of monsters on the entire planet. maybe the bloody war they faught really WAS just that terrifyingly genocidal, and there was just barely a scrap left of the monster population.
heres another thing i thought of just as i was writing about this post; why do they want to reach the surface so badly? they all seem to hate humans, and yet the thing they want to do the most is escape onto the surface, a place full of terrifying humans that are well over than 20× the size of their tiny monster population. AND more powerful. they know the humans hated them, and we know for a fact that the rumor of the monsters being hidden in the mountain still exists, so we know society is aware of it. and we know for a fact that no humans, other than frisk IF you chose the pacifist route, EVER came to their rescue to try to give it a second shot.
those monsters were buried away forever, COMPLETELY. the humans wanted them GONE.
so is it really safe to go back? do you think maybe the humans attacked them again and they had to go back underground? Asriel was a kid, a recent kid from what im aware of, and when he and frisk (or chara? i dunno much about the geno route so idk chara very well) went to the surface breifly all the humans in the town viciously attacked him. Humans, the ones surrounding mount ebott at least, are probably dangerous.
but then again, maybe monsters were bad first? in the pacifist route they use frisk as an embassador and are then shown frolicking on the surface, and in the monolog about asriel and frisk/chara's sad death it mentions that the humans attacked asriel because they thought he killed the human child, so perhaps it was just self defense? maybe most humans are good and are simply just scared.
i am going on and on about this and im honestly becoming very braindead and have forgotten what i was talking about several times while writing this post, so I'll end it here and add on later if i think of anything.
for now, heres just some random thoughts poured off of my mind. thanks for reading this far :)

this is my theory on the entire timeline of mario (idk why but i need to share it all of a sudden)
this does link to this post about wario btw (i will mention it later on) and trust me, this gets weird.
THE MAINLINE GAMES
the mainline games are at the centre of the timeline. everything, from the arcade game to bowser's fury. they all take place in the order they came out, unless a game is specifically set in the past or future. i am more of a sonic kid, so i haven't played all of the mario games, but as far as i'm aware, none are set in the past or future anyway. games i would also put here are any of the canon-compliant side games, such as mario and luigi, paper mario, etc.
BEFORE THE MAINLINE GAMES
i honestly can't think of much that happens before the mainline games. the best i can give you is that luigi's mansion could possibly take place beforehand. that being said, it would make sense for luigi's mansion to be literally anywhere on the timeline and probably would make less sense to be beforehand. again, i'm not a mario enthusiast, so if someone can confirm that there are any other games that should take place here, please do correct me.
edit: i realised that yes, actually, there are games that take place before! games like yoshi's island, where the mario brothers, peach, etc. are all babies, are definitely before the mainline games lol
DIRECTLY AFTER THE MAINLINE GAMES
this would be things such as warioware, possibly luigi's mansion (again, i have literally no idea where that goes), anything along the lines of that. not much goes here tbh.
YEARS, POSSIBLY DECADES LATER
any of the party games. there is no way they are all getting along that well lmao. when i say 'the party games' i'll be specific: anything that involves the mario cast doing completely random activities that have nothing to do with what they regularly do.
MARIO TENNIS (2000) WHY MUST YOU CAUSE SUCH PAIN
something that would have caused an easy fix is if i just made this a visual thing, but no, i just had to be lazy. ok, so, we can deduce by wario's outfit if something happens before or after mario tennis. if wario is in his biker outfit, he hasn't met waluigi yet, therefore, the game takes place before whenever mario tennis comes out. this means that if waluigi merely exists in a game, it has taken place after mario tennis. if wario is wearing dungarees, the game takes place after mario tennis. anything made before mario tennis with wario in it and anything with biker wario takes place before mario tennis.
ALTERNATE UNIVERSE MEDIA
if the game features biker wario AND waluigi, it completely destroys my entire theory. so screw it. that's an alternate universe. in my defence, the majority of games that feature both couldn't happen anyway (eg smash bros).
the mario movie goes without saying, you knew that wasn't gonna be
unfortunately, most comics and animations aren't canon compliant, so definately are AUs. sorry.
THE BIT WHERE I LOSE MY MIND
undertale is canon in mario.
undertale is canon in mario.
...
please just hear me out
look at sans and papyrus for just 1 second.
Tumblr media
do they seem familiar?
Tumblr media
HAHHAHAHA! YOU'RE WRONG! THEY ARE JUST LIKE:
Tumblr media
now, i know what you may be thinking, 'but jupitercl0uds, i thought you shipped wario and waluigi,' ik, ik, you've just got to hold on for a minute.
wario and waluigi are sans and papyrus in a past life. sans is still lazy and short while waluigi is still self-obsessed and tall. there are more ways they are connected, but that is besides the point. the point is, wario was reborn as sans. he has plenty of memory of his past life. as he saw papyrus grow, he himself grew horrified as he realised who his little brother was. papyrus, on the other hand, had barely any memory of his past life. sans becomes self aware due to questioning everything, but he loves waluigi so much that he's willing to accept that he'll just have to move on and accept that papyrus is his brother. he may never be able to love him in the same way again, but he is still happy to know that he is at least with waluigi, always.
i feel in the pacifist route, sans would leave the underground believing that he and papyrus were made for each other, regardless of the relationship the two have. he would feel as if every life, they find each other and love each other, regardless of how easy it is to find the other, regardless of what kind of love they have.
this means that it's ok that their relationship is ambiguous, it always will be.
