the lack of compassion that a good portion of lotr fans show for frodo ("why can't he fight or do simple tasks" "why is he so weak" "why does he always need help / to be rescued") mirrors the lack of compassion of people for those who bear the burden of invisible disabilities. he's struggling against an immense weight at every step! something that actively tries to destroy him, worsening at every moment! his heroism is in just continuing to walk his path, step by step. his bravery is in just existing as himself under the debilitating weight of the ring. but because the influence of the ring is invisible, it is forgotten, and frodo is written off as a weak, cowardly, and/or useless character, much like disabled people irl. in this household we do not stand for frodo slander!!!

1. Do they sleep with a stuffed animal? If they have multiple, who’s the favorite?
Assistant Conductor has a Swirlix plush she's really attached to because it's cute and pink and fluffy, all things she aesthetically loves, and it does come with her when the crew is on the road and is cuddled very lovingly in hotel room beds.
Conductor has a commissioned plush of C.Q. Cumber that Engie got him for his birthday - he doesn't sleep with it, but he keeps it with him in the staff car because it reminds him of the woman he adores up in the cab of the locomotive.

19. Do they study before tests? Practice before job interviews?
When she was younger, Fireman actually found it difficult to study for tests. Her degree in chemistry was fought for desperately - she was great at applying what she knew when she knew it but it was harder for her to retain the information she was being taught and she had to find unique ways to actually get it to stick.
As an adult, she's realizing in retrospect that she probably should have had an ADHD diagnosis but never got one because she was a girl.
20. What do they like that nobody else does?
It's probably less of a case of being the only person who likes it and more a case of 'it's a bit jarring to a lot of people to still be actively obsessed with internet videos from the early and mid-2000s,' but that's where Fireman's at! She also loves YTPs, which have made a comeback - that one doesn't weird people out as much.

54. Who’s more likely to carry the other to bed?
Conductor, every time, without fail. Engie works herself to exhaustion and passes out at her draft table half the time and Conductor literally has to drag her away to make her go to sleep.
57. Who's the serious one when grocery shopping and who likes to toss random things in the cart?
Conductor's family runs a diner, and he knows how to cook, so he actually takes grocery shopping unusually seriously. Except when he doesn't. He can and will be both. Engie just looks at cooking like chemistry and trusts him to make good decisions in exchange for doing things that require physics like getting two pots unstuck from each other.
60. Who pulls the other closer when they’re sleeping?
Engie starts out really touch-averse, and she knows she's down bad when she actually wants to make physical contact with Conductor more. Once they're together and she gets over her nervousness about it, she actually finds herself leaning on him or curling up next to him in bed like a cat because her thyroid disorder means she's cold a lot.

1. Who would end a heated argument by defending their actions with ‘because I love you!’ ?
Probably Conductor, because most of their arguments are really just him trying to get Engineer to stop overworking herself and dragging her to bed. Engie's not used to being loved without overworking so it always makes her stop and reassess things.
5. Describe their cozy night in.
Generally they're content to stay home and play video games since so much of their work involves them being out on the rails and therefore away from home, and Conductor loves cooking, so the odds are good he'd make something really nice and they'd just be able to spend the night eating it and playing Salmon Run.
10. Describe their first date.
They're co-workers and best friends and spend a lot of time together, but the first time they go out to grab dinner together after becoming a couple they're uncharacteristically nervous around each other, and Engie's even dressed up, something she almost never does because she's usually getting dirty. It takes them a little bit of time that night to just remember they can both still act normal, but once it clicks they're a lot more comfortable again.
18. How likely are they to have fur babies? How many and what kind?
They're away from home too often for most pets, but Engie would love it if they could get a shop cat to hang out in the engine shop and keep everyone company when they're doing maintenance.

This has been in my drafts for ten months because I kept wanting to draw it and kept being too burnt out to draw it.
Yes, the two of them 100% would, and Engie would draw up plans for it on her drafting table to make sure it was structurally sound before they built it, because she's a consummate professional who loves making too much work for herself.
The second it's done Conductor uses it to force her to go to sleep, because he'll do anything to get her to take better care of herself.
