Request: how would jack react to his girlfriend breaking a bone?

It was an accident, once second she was on Luke's old skateboard as he tried to teach her how to skate. Laughter filled the air as she started to get the hang of it. But then she lost her balance, and down she went, slamming into the pavement and breaking the fall with her hands which led to a loud crack noise.

Quinn was the first one out of the house, with the car keys in hand, and some old sling he had found buried in the back of one of the bathroom cabinets. Jack was out right after him, his face full of worry as he saw her just defeatedly lying on the pavement.

“Are you okay sweets?” he kneeled beside her, she blinked away her tears as she just stared at him. “I'm fine, but I think I need to go to the hospital,” she groaned sitting up as Jack helped her, pressing a kiss to her hairline as she looked at him and laughed at the mess of a state she was currently in.

"Quinn's waiting in the car," he said as he helped get the sling on her arm, wincing as she hissed in his ear. He swung her good arm around his neck to help her stand, his glare falling on his younger brother, "first you break my girlfriend's arm, and then you watch me struggle to help her up, get over here," he said pointedly as Luke rushed over to help,

"Leave him alone, it's not his fault," she looked to Luke who gave her a smile that thanked her for sticking up for him. Jack brushed his hands over her back and legs to wipe away any dirt as Luke helped her keep her balance, the fall winding her and making her legs wobble as she tried to regain her cool, "I don't care, he shouldn't have let you ride that death board without being more careful," he scolded as he pressed a kiss to the scrap on her thigh before standing back up and death staring his brother.

"I'm sorry Y/n/n,' Luke said as he helped her into the back seat of the car, a genuine look on his face as Jack began to buckle her up, acting like a worried mother before gaining a slap to the hand. "It's okay lukey," she grinned and motioned for him to come closer so she could ruffle his hair with her free arm.

"Stop exerting yourself, you’re gonna get more hurt," Jack hissed as she smacked him again. "Stop mothering me," she glared as he nodded and took that as his sign to shut up and get into the car, "I'm fine tho Lu, don't worry your little head about me," she grinned as he nodded and shut the door.

Quinn let out a loud laugh as he looked at the banged-up girl in the back seat, "you should've seen Jack when Luke came in, he jumped like five feet off of the couch," he laughed as she looked over to a pouty jack. Strawberry ice-cream | the summer in which Luke Castellan fell in love *ੈ♡⸝

In May, when you first arrived at camp, it was obvious to everyone that you didn’t like the place at all. Usually, campers would finally find bit of peace in that lost spot, far from the normal life and the judging mortals. But that wasn’t the case for you, you didn’t like living there.

But nonetheless, other than being a bit quiet, he wasn’t mean or bad to you at all, so you brushed Chris’s words off as well.

Quick weeks went by and it was already June, and all you did was follow Luke Castellan around. All of the other counsolers tried their best to integrate you inside of the camp’s community, but without much results. It’s just seems as you couldn’t enjoy anyone’s company.

You were quick to get sad, and it took a lot to even get you to open your mouth. It wasn’t that you were wary, just irreparably miserable.

Once again, the only light you had, was Luke. He was the only one who seemed to get you, and eventually everyone just gave up on you, leaving the burden to the guy. after all, this was the first time he took on a new camper ever since the quest.

You didn’t necessarily despised the camp, or the activities, Luke figured, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to like them either. Luke would often see you around camp, pouty, and lost in thoughts. Even when you had a training session with him, you still sighed and huffed everytime you got disarmed. Thankfully I didn’t have any homework to do since I finished it last night. Ever since i’ve gotten close to jack i started to get feelings but there’s nothing i can do about it since i doubt he feels the same way. My brother will be his teammate in a couple of years and I also don’t want to make things weird between them.

At around 11:02 a.m. there was a knock on the door, I paused the show and went to open the door.

“Hey, this is for you” Jack greeted me smiling with an extra coffee in his hands, when I opened the door.

“Hey, come in and thank you, you didn’t have to get me a coffee” I replied smiling and taking the coffee from him, while opening the door wider so he could walk in, once he did I closed the door. Jack took off his shoes and we made our way to the living room.

“ it’s nothing, i know you had class this morning so i thought you might need one”

“I really did, so thank you”

“ What are we doing today?” He asked

“I have no clue, what do you want to do?” I said

“I was thinking maybe if it’s okay with you, i could take you on a date” he said looking at me waiting for my response. I was shocked. I didn't think he felt the same way.

“I’d love that” i said smiling softly

“Perfect, do you want to go after we're both done with our coffees?” He asked

“That’s perfect” i said nodding

“How have you been? How are your classes?”

“I’m good, my classes have been a bit stressful but it’s normal since it’s my senior year.”

“Makes sense, are you excited to be graduating in May?”

“Yes, I can't wait,” I said eagerly, making him chuckle.

“Jeez, it is that bad” he said sarcastically making me chuckle

“No, i’m just excited to be able to do what i love full time” i said smiling

“I’m glad”

“Are you ready to go out?” He asked once I took the last sip of coffee.

“Yeah, let’s go” i said smiling

We put on our shoes and jackets before making our way out of my apartment. I grabbed my hand and I looked at him smiling.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked curious

“It’s a surprise” he said smiling

Jack ended up taking me out to one of my favorite restaurants that he showed me when i first moved here, it was an amazing date, i had a lot of fun.

Now Jack dropped me off at home. He walked me up to my door.

“I had an amazing time tonight” I said, turning and looking at Jack who already had a smile on his face.

“Me too, any chance I can take you on another date soon?” He asked.

“I would love that” i said blushing

“Perfect,” he replied.

He leaned in and kissed my cheek.

“I’ll talk to you later, have a good night Yn” he said before leaving.

Once I made it in the apartment and closed the door I couldn't stop smiling.

Another date? I like the sound of that!!

Finale Thoughts

The show stuck the ending far better than I thought it would and when compared to the preceding episodes it knocks it out of the park. That being said, I think because the bar was so low going in, that it makes this episode feel spectacular when really every episode should have done this well, at minimum.

Solo Lessons and Ares Battle

I'm so happy they included the one-on-one training sessions with Luke since its so essential to foreshadowing. I also liked the setting in the woods but why was it like autumn/fall in the flashback lol? However, I think that did unintentionally add a dreamlike quality to the scene which I did really like so whatever I'm here for it.

That being said I do wish these scenes were in episode 2/3 alongside the other chb stuff instead of being a flashback in the finale because it makes it just so on the nose that Luke's the traitor. However, the shot panning from Luke's extended sword to Percy's on the beach ate I can't lie.

Honestly it may have been interesting if they had established some of the solo lessons early on in episode 3 and then done periodic flashbacks to expand on them throughout the series. That way, its not so obvious that Luke's the traitor in the final hour and we also get cool transition shots and establishing that Percy is thinking about what he's learned from his lessons with Luke.

#Relieved that the Ares and Percy fight was not a single sword strike and then cut to black. Glad we had some action. Still think we should've pushed the limits much harder tho.

Oh but Percy's wave did go hard. They actually made the wave much bigger than what happened in the book and now I'm just sitting here wondering why we couldn't see some more of this instead of 10,000 cut to black scenes every time Percy uses his powers.

I wish we had gotten this Ares's reaction from the book when he lost: "The roar that followed made Hades’s earthquake look like a minor event. The very sea was blasted back from Ares, leaving a wet circle of sand fifty feet wide." Show Ares's reaction seemed so anticlimactic in comparison.

And no curse???? huh??

I know Ares was like "we're enemies 4 life now" but the curse and dialogue from the book goes so unbelievably hard: “You have made an enemy, godling. You have sealed your fate. Every time you raise your blade in battle, every time you hope for success, you will feel my curse. Beware, Perseus Jackson. Beware.”

Why couldn't show Ares say that??

Olympus, Zeus, & Poseidon

sorry Olympus could've should've been prettier.

Like Olympus in the book felt a lot more wondrous and lush and colorful. But in the show it seemed so dull. Idk if its cause the "war's happening" or whatever it was just bland. a wash of dull-looking cgi and then an instant cut to the Big Palace.

Lance Reddick's Zeus was amazing tho. He had that godly presence I've been waiting for.

And Toby Stephens's Poseidon? oh I loved it.

I especially loved their conversation in greek.

I still wish however they would have done effects on the gods' eyes. Like glowing with energy or something when they get emotional. I felt like I was waiting to see electricity burst from Zeus when he was yelling at Percy.

And so it turns out that the reason why they changed it to Percy missing the deadline in the show was to create a situation in which Poseidon surrenders a war for his son.

And listen, if this scene existed in a vacuum I'd be so here for it. I guess a part of me can't fathom the solstice being anything other than a hard deadline. I enjoy the scene without context, within context I have mixed feelings about it.

But the "do you dream?" convo between Percy and Poseidon. Oh my god no notes. I loved it.

Some more book dialogue that I wish made it: “You did well, Perseus. Do not misunderstand me. Whatever else you do, know that you are mine. You are a true son of the Sea God.”

Luke's Betrayal

Okay here's where we get some high highs and low lows.

Some things I sincerely liked:

The setting. Fireworks going off in the background. The lantern illuminating the side of Luke's face with the scar. So visually nice.

Luke actively trying to recruit Percy! I've always joked that if Luke was just a little smarter he would have tried to persuade Percy to join his side rather than immediately kill him. And I do like that the show went this direction.

While I do mourn the loss of the scorpion them battling via swords is a great subversion of the sword mentor/mentee dynamic they share. It makes the scene tense and fast pace.

And its all of the above that makes me wonder why we didn't have more of this throughout the show: talking while battling, visually appealing and dynamic settings, unique visuals, etc.

I love how triggered Luke was at Percy's mention of meeting Hermes. I still hate how much Hermes introduction bogged down the show but damn if it didn't lead to one singular funny moment.

Percy getting a hit in on Luke and then immediately apologizing

"I didn't think you'd give the shoes to Grover." Oh that was cold.

Walker and Charlie deserve their flowers and more they were fantastic and carried.

Now things I DIDN'T like:

I don't like how Percy pieced it together with the information he did have... which honestly isn't a lot in the show? If he was going to figure out that Luke was the traitor I would've have had Luke show more of his bitterness like he did in the book. Like the fact the show never even mentioned Luke's failed his quest loses the entire element of Percy succeeding an "impossible" quest and being celebrated while Luke only got a scar and a chip on his shoulder from his failed one.

Luke's scar shoulda been worse idc.

Percy should have been mortally wounded. That's where we run into an issue with there being no scorpion because yeah, a fatal sword injury probably would've been a bit much to depict. I also 10000% think that Luke is enough of a baby to get his daddy issues triggered and then try to off Percy for it even if his original intention was to recruit him.

Also the fact that you see Luke raise his sword for a damning blow and then the very next day you have Percy like "I don't think Luke was trying to kill me." and Chiron agreeing? asdlkfjsdlkf WRONG.

Also, sorry, I don't like that Annabeth was there.

But if you're gonna have Annabeth there, her reaction to Luke betraying her and trying to hurt Percy should've been way more severe than a solemn "I heard everything."

She shoulda been crying, questioning, yelling even if she had suspected him. It's one thing to suspect it, it's another to see the person you consider your family to actually prove it true.

(And this isn't on Leah! It's 100% on the directors cause what was the thought process here? Her brother figure betrays her and she's like :/)

And sure, in the book Annabeth isn't actually all that surprised by Luke's betrayal when Percy tells her about it... but we also never got to see her initial reaction to it. Percy was out for 2 days.

Just, if book Annabeth had been there, she would've been so emotional and that's okay!! let Leah show off her chops!

Sally

I mourn book Sally. I mourn her arc. I mourn the power of Sally unapologetically petrifying Gabe with Medusa's head.

One of the most iconic storylines from the book and it was sanitized in the show to the point that it lost all sense and meaning.

Honestly one of the biggest disappointments of the show for me.

Other

I love the fact that a flower is the searcher's license for satyrs its just so silly and sweet.

I love Annabeth sincerely hugging Percy but also using it for strategizing purposes it feels very on point for her.

Also her braids at the end!! so sweet!

I am very very bitter that Percy didn't see the fates. This + the changes made to Sally's characterization and arc... the show truly doesn't get it.

Series masterlist, previous chapter

Chapter 6- you don’t need him

Summary: jj is struggling with the guilt he faces, Rafe and you help each other get through everything as always, and when Jj comes to apologize at tannyhill, how does Rafe feel?

Warnings: small short description of psychical abuse, slightly toxic!rafe, maybe ooc!jj?

“Dad! Dad-“ you shouted, desperately trying to get him off of your brother. Your shout was gut wrenching, your voice cracking and your eyes full of tears.

You finally managed to get him off, and you saw Jj staring at you, his face bloodied. His eyes struggling to stay open.

“Oh my God… Look what you fucking did! Look!” You cried, quickly getting down onto your knees next to JJ, ignoring your father behind you telling you he’s not worth it.

“It’s okay, JJ. It’s okay. You’re fine.” You mumbled, mostly to yourself, wiping away the blood on his cheek and the drool that fell when his mouth hung open.

Your tears fell onto JJ, the memory forever engraved into yours and his brain. He was only 15 at that point, it was his birthday. You were 17.

You’d always protected him, always. He felt a strong sense of regret, having to fight the urge to turn back and come back to you, telling you he’s sorry. He was pulled out of the memory when someone came up behind him, a hand on his shoulder.

“You okay, man?” John B asked him, his eyebrows furrowed.

“Yeah. Yeah. I’m fine.”

Rafe took you to Tannyhill, the ride was quiet the whole way.

And when he got there, Ward was standing outside, police cars and boats around.

You furrowed your eyebrows and looked back at Rafe. He held out an arm, telling you to stay in the car for a moment.

“I just saw Sarah.” Ward told him.

The next days, during the sentencing for John B, you and Rafe stayed in. He had become anxious, and you were the one to calm him down every time.

He had gotten to the point of multiple panic attacks, asking questions like what if they found out or what if they caught him.

“They won’t. They won’t, Rafe.” You whispered quietly, your hands on his face, and your eyes searching his. He looked down, shaking his head to himself.

When you saw the news that John B was captured and in prison, it had calmed Rafe down a bit. But a part of you felt bad.

That was your brothers friend, your brothers friend who you practically watched grow up with him, your brothers friend who had a crush on you in his awkward acne and braces phase.

You knew that JJ was planning a way to get him out.

“-They’re gonna eject you to the hospital. You remember cousin Ricky?”

“Cousin Ricky, the weed dealer?”

“He’s an EMT.”

“He sold us our first dime bag.”

“So? You can do both. Gig economy, bro.”

“Jesus.” John B sighed.

“Okay, but step 3 is extraction-“ Jj continued his plan.

“Times up.” Plumb spoke, interrupting the two.

“Yes, ma’am. You gotta trust me on this one.” Jj said, staring at John B. “Nothing to lose now. Eleven PM.” He stood up, and walked out.

He heard talking, when he suddenly saw a familiar face. He turned back, doing a double take, he stared out at the window, stepping closer.

He watched his father play basketball, and began banging on the door.

“Dad! Dad!”

“Let’s go.” Plumb said, grabbing him.

“Dad!”

“Let’s go.” She repeated, peeling him away from the window.

He turned back, his jaw clenched as he walked.

“I see what you did there, Plumb.”

Rafe was speaking to his dad in the living room while you sat on the bed, texting back with your cousin.

You decided to tell him that Luke was in prison. He wasn’t very surprised. And somehow the topic went back to Jj.

“He’s an asshole, you know how he is.”

“I feel bad, tho.” You typed.

“Don’t feel bad, He’ll come back, I mean what’d you do for him to get pissed at you?”

“Pretty bad shit.”

“He’s always off doing pretty bad shit anyways. He’ll come back to you.”

“Hope so. Thanks Ricky.” You typed,

“Anytime.”

You shut off your phone, staring at the ceiling for a moment before you heard something hit the window. A rock.

You furrowed your eyebrows, turning your body, then standing up and looking out to see a small figure in the yard. Was that…

“Jj?” You mumbled to yourself, opening up the window. He waved.

“Jesus Christ.” You groaned, shutting the window and quickly gathering your stuff, and heading downstairs.

You opened and shut the door quietly, stepping outside and seeing JJ.

“What the fuck do you want, JJ?” You asked him, walking towards him. He stood, staring at you and back at the house behind you.

His hands were shoved in his pockets.

“You know dads in jail?”

“Yeah… so what?” You told him.

“And you didn’t think to tell me…?”

“I wanted to, J, but I couldn’t have-“

“Why? Why couldn’t you have, y/n?” His voice raising, you put your hand over his mouth.

“If any one of them hear you they’re gonna be fucking pissed. C’mon.” You mumbled, walking away from the house, but he stood there.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” He asked again.

“Because, I thought you would blame me. I just found out not that long ago, and I didn’t know how to tell you.” You spoke, your back to him. You turned around now.

“I wouldn’t have blamed you.”

“Is that why you came? To just say that?”

“No. I’m sorry. I- I said some shit back at the dock… shit I didn’t mean…” he paused. “And I’m sorry.”

Your eyes widened at his words. It was rare for him to apologize like this. It was silent for a little.

“You have to get it, that I just… why him?” He asked, referring to Rafe.

“Because he’s the one who was there for me when no one else was. He was there for me when you weren’t.”

He stayed quiet now.

“But I get why you weren’t. Looking back at it, I haven’t treated you the best either. You’re my younger brother. And I should have protected you more-“

“Don’t.” He spoke up, quietly. “You did-“

“Well, what do we have here? Maybank, don’t you know you’re trespassing?” Rafes voice interrupted, stepping down to the both of you.

You both turned around at the voice.

“I was just on my way, cupcake.” He clicked his teeth, and turned around.

Rafe was behind him quickly, a hand on his shoulder, tightly gripping it.

“Don’t come near here again.” He whispered into his ear. “I will fucking shoot you on sight.”

“Mmm.. I’ll look forward to it. I would love to stay and join your tea party… but I have some other shit to get to.”

“You have some nerve showing up here, JJ.” He shouted when he began to walk away, Jj flipping him off from behind his back.

“Rafe, he was just-“ you began.

“Do I need to remind you that he was the one who made you cry like a fuckin’ baby the other day?” He turned to you now.

You were taken aback at his words. Stepping back as he walked towards you.

“I told you, you don’t need him. Or anyone else.”

“He’s my brother, Rafe…”

“And when has he ever done anything good for you?”

You stayed silent. He walked closer, a small sigh escaping his mouth. You slightly flinched when his hands went up. They made their way to your face, cupping it.

“I’m just trying to protect you, baby. Don’t want you getting anymore hurt than you already have been by him, or anyone else.”
