Writers confidence challenge! List your 5 writings you love the most! Reread them and tell yourself you are a gem to this world! And if you want, send this to the writers you like let them know how awesome they are! It can WIPs or published fics! 💌
🧡 for you, beloved gemma, creator of incredible worlds.
Sy, thank you! Since you specifically referenced worlds, here's my top 5 world-building/AU WIPs. (I love them all equally, though. Okay?)
Feylands - I've spent so much time on worldbuilding here. It keeps getting more intense lol. Magic, royalty lineage, staff hierarchy, technology, botany - I get to play with all these fun nuanced pieces that all influence the world(s) I'm building in this story. I'm hoping for the possibility of playing more in this universe when I'm done with the main story. (This means smut, mostly.😉)
The Contract - @pfhwrittes blew it out of the park helping me develop this one. This world keeps expanding too, but in a different way. There's a universe to tell different stories in here, which ought to be fun. It's definitely a wee bit darker than Feylands, but just as good.
Call of the Wild - Would you believe me if I said this one came from a dream? Well..parts of it. I'm kind of making up the lore on the fly for the werewolves/shifters, so it's not as detailed for lore as other stories. Will my brit-picker absolutely lose their mind when they read it? Probably.😅 But it's a different universe! Lightly inspired by @deadbranch's Werewolf AU. (<- So good. Go read it. All of it.)
Journal Exchange - Six planets formed. Entire resource and processing plans are being developed. Societal structures built out of what little's given in Prospect (highly recommend watching if you like sci-fi) and expanded it into a universe. I want to get back to this one, even if the style (journals sent to an individual) is difficult to write.
Palace Hallways - An as-of-yet unshared WIP. Inspired by @sentientcave's Heavy Weighs The Crown WIP and some ideas that have been floating around in my brain soup. Lady-in-Waiting 'Petal' is menaced by Knight Kyle, Artificer Johnny and Druid 'Ghost' assist. Playing fast and loose with historical fiction and D&D lore. (I have a thing for Gaz x Soap x Ghost x OC, okay? That's two now.)

Two days before Christmas. The store is left in tatters. Shelves strewn with sparse lefftovers and aisles hastily paced by those who left their shopping a bit too late. The frantic shoppers searching for a diamond among the sand grains of untouched product.
You work at arranging the remnants of the season’s beauty advent calendars on a table draped in a bright red cloth. There’s a large tag in a metal stand that marks them as ten percent off. On the other side of the holidays, they will drop to a full eighty percent off. You always believed giftcards were a better prize, not that you got many gifts.
That year, Luanne gave you a new journal and a specialty hot chocolate bomb in the department’s secret santa. You go Michelle and gifted her a copy of your favourite novel and some nail polishes. That is the extent of your shopping and gift exchanges. Except for your puppy, Ernie, who will get a bone and one of those special gourmet dog meals.
You finish your arrangement and step back, admiring your work. It’s close to close and so close to the end of the race that the shop isn’t as busy as usual. The only customers you do see are in a rush and horribly disappointed when that very specific thing isn’t in stock.
“Excuse me,” you’re drawn around the deep voice. A man strolls up the center aisle of the beauty section, the tails of his coat flicking behind him, “hi,” he uses your name as he approaches, “I’m so sorry to bother you again but can you point me to, erm,” he looks down at his phone, “a ring light?”
You hesitate. He seems to know you and you admit, he looks familiar. You’re at that point where the faces all blur together. Your one innate flaw is that you really don’t have a good memory for that, bt you definitely recognise his voice.
“Hello, sir,” you fall short of his name. You want to say Alan but you also don’t want to be wrong. “The ring lights are actually with the cellphone.” You gesture back at electronics, “I know it makes more sense to put them with cameras.”
“Ah, oh, thanks,” he nods but doesn’t move to find his quarry, he lowers his phone, “how’s your holiday going? Thing’s slowing down,” he looks around and you can’t help but do the same.
“Uh, yeah, yeah, most people are all done,” you shrug.
“Ha, wish I could say the same,” he sighs, “I thought we were done but the wife just sent me on a wild goose chase.”
“Hm, oh, well, I’m not very busy, did you need help finding anything else?”
“Really?”
“Yeah, my manager’s done for the day so doesn’t really matter if I leave my zone,” you say, “kinda boring around here.”
“You’re too sweet,” he smiles, his blue eyes deep and swirling, “and that sweater is adorable.”
You look down at your dark blue sweater with the white crochet peter pan collar. You wiggle your shoulders and grin back at him, thanking him. You know he bought some perfume for his wife but you’re still blanking on his name.
“Here’s my list,” he tilts his phone towards you and looks down, shifting closer to you as he shows you a text bubble.
“Oh my, right. I’m not sure we’ll have everything,” you teethe your lip as you go through the items, “but we’ll see.”
A message pops up over the top and you try not to read, putting your head up as you try to act like you didn’t see it. It’s not that you meant to decipher the words but your brain quickly skimmed that ‘tomorrow night?’ Not much but just feels a bit personal.
“Alright, we’ll go to electronics first, then work our way forward,” you suggest.
“Good idea,” he agrees.
You set off and he follows at just a step. You have to remember to slow down as often you’re so determined you find yourself leaving your customers far behind you. You bring him to the mobile accessories and point to the ring lights.
He considers them and rubs his chin. He points between two; “what’s the difference?”
“Oh, this one comes with a tripod extension and this one is a full kit with a mic,” you point from one to the other.
“What do you think is better for, uh, streaming?” He sounds unsure of that last word.
“I think that kit would have more to it, especially if whoever it’s for is just starting out. But I’m don’t know too much about these things.”
“I’ll take the kit,” he scoops it off the shelf, “the kid can never have enough.”
“Oh? You have kids?”
“One,” he sounds less than excited, “teenager now so he really can’t stand me.”
“I’m sorry, sir, I didn’t mean to…”
“No, no, it’s not your fault,” he forces away the shadow across his features, “you know how they can be. What about you? You going to see your parents? Spending the day with someone special?”
“Um, just Ernie,” you answer, “my puppy.”
“Cute,” he remarks, “are you guys open tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow, yeah, ‘til five,” you try to remember the next thing on his list.
He seems less concerned with the items than before, instead turn to examine a pop socket, “you have to work on Christmas Eve?”
“Yeah, closing, but I don’t mind.”
“What’s this?” He holds up a pop socket.
“It goes on your phone,” you pull out your phone and show him your daisy one, “see?” You hook your fingers around it, “it’s a grip to help you hold on.”
“Ah, makes sense,” he turns the thin package over, “kid’s always breaking his screen…”
You wait patiently as he makes up the mind to add the grip to his haul.
“What’s next?” You prompt as gently as you can.
“Oh, uh,” he looks at his phone, “video games…” he squints, “V-bucks?”
“Ah, yes, that would be a gift card,” you say, “I can show you the rack.”
He lets you lead him to the large rack of subscription cards. You point out the various currency amounts available and he rubs his brow. His forehead lines as you see the stress needling in his cheek. He’s struck with the late shopper syndrome. He’s start to feel the crush of time.
“So, just your dog?” He wonders as he picks up a $75 card.
“Yeah,” you answer softly.
“No boyfriend? Siblings?”
“Just me,” you assure him, “I don’t mind. I get to choose the dessert!”
He chuckles, “that’s a good way to look at it. Did you buy yourself something special?”
“Not really, I’ve been saving for a vacation so I put most of my overtime into that,” you explain. “You having a big dinner?”
“Last minute change, wife’s parents want to host. Had to figure out travel plans.” He looks at the giftcards again and your eyes fall to the large back curled up in his arm and the card and phone grip balanced between his fingers. He slides free a Netflix card and reads the fine print.
“Do you want a basket, sir?” You offer.
“Oh, well, sure,” he accepts as he looks down, “that’s very considerate.”
“Don’t want you to drop anything,” you smile and turn on your heel.
You go to the stack of rolling baskets beside the electronics desk. Tyler doesn’t acknowledge you as he sorts through game shells to put back on the shelf. You pull the basket behind you, rattling on its wheels as you approach the shopper by the gift cards.
“Here,” you veer it around towards him.
He bends to lower the ringlight inside and drops the smaller items into next to it; he adds the Netflix subscription along with it and holds onto the Kindle card in his hand.
“You got any of these around?” He holds up the card, “the reader?”
“Hmm, we should,” you rub your neck, “I suppose if we didn’t, you can get a tablet and download the app.”
“I guess,” he nods, “can you check?”
“Of course, sir.”
You turn away and call over your headset. Regan tells you there’s a kindle up in return they can sell. You ask them to put it aside.
“There’s one left at checkout. They’re going to have it waiting for you,” you announce proudly.
“That’s great. You like to read?” He asks.
“Oh, sure, my one vice is my book addiction,” you giggle, “how about you?”
“Well, I don’t get much of a chance with work. I’m usually burnt out from all the legal documents,” he drones grimly, “then the kid has extracurriculars or there’s a PTA meeting or the wife needs something done.”
“Sounds busy,” you say empathetically, “I hope you get some time to relax this holiday.”
“Me too,” he agrees. “I almost envy you. I’m sure your dog’s good company.”
“He’s so sweet,” you can’t help but beam at the mention of your boy.
“Big cuddler?” He asks.
“Uh, yeah,” the question is a bit unexpected, “you like dogs?”
“Never really had one. Dont need the extra work,” he says, “but I don’t mind them.”
“That’s fair. He can be a bit needy.”
He flinches and looks down at his hand. His screen flashes and he gives an apologetic look as he raises his palm, “I’m so sorry. I need to take this.”
“Take your time, sir, I’ll wander,” you point over your shoulder with your thumb.
He mouths a thanks before he answers, “Barber.”
You back up and turn to distract yourself with the shelf of controllers and switch cases. His deep voice carries but you focus on the Sinatra carol playing overhead to drown him out. Still you can’t help but catch a few words.
“Five, yeah…no, she won’t…it’s fine…” He’s quiet for a moment before he raises his voice, “figure it out.”
His stern tone sends a chill through you. It’s a sharp contrast to his previously friendly demeanour. Well, he mentioned he’s a lawyer, you assume he has a lawyer voice, akin to your customer service one.
“Sorry,” he comes back to you, “my wife…” he takes a breath, “you don’t happen to sell wine here?”
You smile. The way he answered, it didn’t sound very affectionate but maybe he hadn’t expected his wife.
“No, sorry, sir.”
“Kidding,” he chuckles, “well, I guess I should get my butt in gear,” he flicks through his phone, “um, I assume toiletries? Face masks?”
“Oh, that’s near me,” you point back towards beauty, “there’s a special for the sheet masks.”
“Great,” he grabs the extended handle of the basket, “thanks so much for this. I’m so lost.”
“That’s fine,” you go ahead of him, “it’s the job.”
🎀
You groan as you put the last empty bin in the stack. You stand and rub your shoulders, traps sore from all the lifting and moving. The night crew will set up for the day after Christmas but in the last hour of work, you and the few others in the store scrambled to get the old displays torn down.
Luanne walks with you to the employee break room. She’s in more of a hurry as she has her three children waiting for her at their grandparents. She goes ahead of you and punches out as you wait and stretch out your arms.
“Have a good Christmas,” she says breathily as she opens her locker and pulls out her purse and jacket, folding the latter over her arm, “I’ll see you after. You’re opening, right?”
“Sure thing,” you say as you punch in your employee number. “Merry Christmas.”
“Give Ernie some pets for me,” she trills as she goes to the door. “Thanks again. You saved my ass today.”
“No problem, “ you shake your head, “Christmas Eve brings out the best.”
“Does it ever. Bye, sweetie,” she waves over her shoulder as he sweeps through the door.
You go to your locket and take out your fluffy pink sherpa coat and purse. You loop your scarf around your neck and slip your earmuffs around your head. You sit to pull on your boots and stand with an ache in your calves. You feel the fatigue finally setting in. It’s not over yet; one day off and you’re right back to the furor.
You yawn as you leave the breakroom and drag your feet across the store. You take out your phone as you pop your earbuds in and choose your holiday mix. You wave goodbye to a few other stragglers and go out the front door, Spencer locking it behind you.
It’s bitterly cold out. You’re surprised by the fresh fall of snow swirling in the air. It gives an extra sparkle to the time of year.
You scroll through your phone. The buses are on holiday hours already. The next one is in an hour. Great. You can just walk, at least until you get to the next stop. More buses stop there and you can get at least ten minutes within your building.
You trod along, kicking through the powder of snow as headlights gleam ahead of you. You walk along the narrow walk beside the hotel on the other side of the intersection and a pair of flashing tail lights blink ahead of you. A dark figure stands beside the white SUV but you can’t make out much more than their silhouette.
You keep going, peeking up curiously as you near. The boot of the car pops up and the stranded driver searches. As you pass, you trip over an unseen shape, the metal clank painfully against your toe. You look down at the small foot jack.
“Oh, shoot, sorry,” the man stands straight and turns to you, “I didn’t see you coming. I was just grabbing the iron–”
“That’s okay,” you pick out your earbuds, “I wasn’t looking.”
“Wait,” he stops short and points a gloved finger in your direction, “it’s you. You work at the store just down the way, right?”
You know the man. He’s the one who was in the store just yesterday. There’s a flutter in your chest at the coincidence of your encounter. It happens, especially in the shopping district. Half the city at least passes through her during the holidays.
“Yeah, uh, that’s me. You finish your shopping?”
“Just about,” he tuts and shakes his head, “blew a tire. So, happy holidays to me.”
“I’m so sorry,” you look down at the snowy walk.
“Mhmm,” he grumbles, “all this snow, I can’t get the jack to work either.”
“Dang, unfortunately, I’m not help. I don’t know much about cars.”
“That’s fine, I called roadside assistance but they’re taking their damn time,” he checks his watch.
“Oh…” you utter.
“Don’t let me rain on your holiday, honey,” he says, “your toe okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s fine,” you look down.
“Wait, are you walking home?” He asks.
You nod.
“Wish I could offer you a ride. This weather’s only getting worse,” he bemoans. He slips his hand into his jacket and pulls out his phone, “they should be here shortly so if–”
A set of headlights pull onto the apron and roll towards you. You look over as the man beside you does the same. You stand, somewhat dumbfounded at the unexpected run-in.
“That’s them,” he declares, “hey, guys.”
He waves as the white van pulls up. You were expecting a tow truck. Oh, well. Not your problem.
“Great, I guess I should get going,” you excuse yourself, “have a happy holi–”
As you step back, your heel catches on something. You don’t realise until your plummeting onto your ass that the man stuck his leg out behind you. You hit the ground with an oomph, barely missing the metal jack half-buried in the snow.
You hear the van door sliding open and a clatter of heavy treads. You can barely catch your breath as the world moves fast around you. The man bends over you as another rushes over, grabbing you off the ground as the two vehicles block out the street from view.
“Be nice,” the first man warns as your arms are seized. “Don’t hurt her.”
You suck in a deep breath. What is happening? You go to let out the shriek as you’re struck by the situation. This can’t be real but you’re being half-carried towards an open vehicle. A hand comes up and stifles your scream, smothering you as you’re yanked harshly forward.
“Careful,” the man girds again.
“Shut the fuck up,” the other grits and pulls you away from the other, spinning you around as he hooks an arm around your neck and covers your mouth, forcing you towards the van. He bends backwards, lifting your feet as you kick and squirm.
“Honey, calm down,” the friendly customer coaxes, “it’s okay.”
You don’t understand. Why are they doing this? Why you?
The man’s hand slips as you grab at his arms and your teeth come over the vee between thumb and index. You bite down and he yowls. Even through his leather glove, you give him a viscous pinch.
“Fuck!” He tosses you forward so your knees hit the side of the van and fall half-inside.
“Hurry the fuck up,” another voice calls from inside the van.
“Trying,” the second man snarls as you stand and let out a shrill note, only for a second before you’re caught from behind and muted again. This time the leather glove seals over your nose. “Fucking bitch.”
You’re lifted into the van, writhing and kicking as the door slides shut from the outside. You’re pinned on the floor in the seatless rear of the vehicle. You whimper as your eyes glisten with a sudden spring of tears.
That question rings in your head again; why you? You have no one to look for you, no one to care. It’s only you against them.

Writing with Executive Dysfunction (or how to lower the barrier of entry)
So you want to write a book, but all you have is a cool one-liner, a niche super power you want to explore, and the blurry image of a love interest with a two-syllable kind of name. You don’t know where to start, what to tackle first, how to jump in the deep end.
Can you write the ending first? What if you want this really cool gimmick in a fight scene but can’t write action to save your life? Do you start in media res or with a prologue, or with the character starting their daily routine? Do you write the villain’s POV first?
Or do you start with an outline, character sheets, a title, summary, your themes and motifs? How many pages and pages of worldbuilding notes should you have built up before you’re good to tackle the first page? You’ve heard time and again the critical importance of the first three sentences. The first chapter if your audience is generous.
The pressure mounts to be unique, but not try-hard, descriptive but not flowery, intriguing, but not confusing, all in the first hundred or so words. You sit there staring at the little blinking black line on your blank page… and the idea gets shelved for another day. It collects virtual dust in the backlogs of your computer, forgotten until you have to clear out space on your hard drive and stumble across unspent potential.
Everyone and their dog has their own bits of writing advice and I’m sure I’m about to echo tips that have been around the block once or twice, but there are a few I don’t see talked about enough.
Whether you suffer from severe procrastination, fear of failure before you even begin, the overwhelming limitlessness of choice, or just can’t sit down and dedicate any time to see what happens, this list might be for you.
1. Write Every Day
This is nothing new, but I’m going to tackle the implementation of such a habit over why it’s important. You already know why it’s important. Writing every day doesn’t demand a full page of a Word doc, or 200 words before you can get up and do something else. Sometime a witty dialogue exchange comes to mind while you’re doing dishes – write that down.
Or you saw a cool name for a character in a commercial – write that down.
Or you had a dream about your characters in a high-octane street chase – write down the synopsis.
Personally, I use Apple Notes. It’s free, I can log-in to iCloud through a browser and keep writing, and my phone is always with me. I have dedicated folders to sort which notes belong to which concepts.
Disclaimer: Apple Notes is meant for exactly that: Note taking. I take it to the extremes, but it’s not a word processer. It’s not meant for anything more strenuous than putting virtual pen to virtual paper.
I build up so many variations of scene ideas and concepts for character arcs that my ‘notes’ for any given book can be as long as a full-length novel. Most of the time, admittedly, those ideas get outdated fast as I move on to bigger and better things, but the point is this: I never would move on to better things if I didn’t have somewhere to start.
I have a personal grudge against OneDrive for a sync failure losing 20k words of a WIP, so most of my writing is done through Google Docs and saved to Google Drive. It’s not the most powerful word processor, but you don’t have to worry about formatting until the very end and can export later. It’s free, like Apple Notes (assuming you have an iPhone), and the smart phone app for Google programs works phenomenally better than the MS Word app – so once again, the barrier for being within reach of places to jot down ideas is lowered. My phone is always with me.
It doesn’t have to be digital – carry around a journal or a notebook or a legal pad if you want. Whatever gets your creative juices flowing. The point is to have somewhere to take all the ideas you have in your head and get them onto paper the moment inspiration strikes.
2. Writing is Supposed to be Fun
The dreaded writer’s block, scourge of authors everywhere. You’ve reached the point in your manuscript where you’ve caught up to the epic adventure you’ve written in your head. The little writer in your brain has gone on strike and you’re left in the doldrums of how to transition from one chapter to the next. One idea to the next. One scene, one line of dialogue.
Answer: Skip it.
Unless you have a hard deadline to make, writing is supposed to be fun. Your best work comes when you’re passionate about doing it, not when you’re holding your fingers hostage to put something on the page or else.
When you start getting frustrated, walk away. When you get stressed, walk away. The manuscript will still be there once you’ve slept on it for a day or two and you’ll be glad for it. Or, write a different scene. Write a hypothetical scene (more on this point later). Write anything you want and come back to the hard parts later. The gaps will fill eventually, and if they don’t—consider what about that transition or scene is so hard and consider axing it entirely. If it’s frustrating for you, it’s probably boring or unimportant to the reader.
3. Script it
My favorite writer’s crutch is to make a skeleton of the scene I want to have, fill it with dialogue, and move on. The pretty thematic narrative can come later. It’s halfway between an outline and a first draft and, for me, someone to whom dialogue comes easier than narrative, this is another barrier removed to letting creativity flow.
I don’t have to think about dialogue tags or movement of a scene or how exactly I want to structure a sentence or describe the setting. Scripting lets me sus out the pacing of a given scene, test run a conversation I have in my head to see if it might really work before investing all the time and effort of a fully fleshed out first draft, only to erase it all later.
You can do this mid-narrative, too. If you just want to skip over a couple lines that aren’t coming naturally to you, script a vague sense of stage directions until you get to easier narrative and come back later.
When I say scripting, mine look something like this:
Character A (ChA): [position within the setting, tone of voice, any notable gesture or action that enhances the dialogue] “Dialogue.” [specific dialogue tag, if necessary] … (often a paragraph break) … “Dialogue.” Character B (ChB): “Dialogue.” [emotion, reaction, details about the setting that are now important, new revelations by the narrating POV] … “Dialogue,” [action. Tonal shift. Movement] ChA: “Dialogue.” [action] … (scene continues)
In practice:
… ChA: [kicks back against the wall of the room, arms crossed. Annoyed, waiting for ChB to speak first, but they don’t] “Why didn’t you tell me you wanted to leave?” [head tilts, still waiting on an answer ChB isn’t giving] “All you had to do was ask.” ChB: “You were having fun,” [quiet, wringing their hands in their lap on the edge of the bed] “You wanted me there. So I was there.” [huffs, flips their hair back. Not sure how many times they’ve had this conversation. Will always hate parties, not going to suddenly like them just because ChA is there] “You can either have me there, or make sure I’m comfortable. You can’t have both.” ChA: “So now I’m the bad guy.” [foot thumps on the floor like a judge’s gavel] …
Scripting also lets you fill a scene with multiple new characters before you figure out their names or descriptions, tagging their lines with the bare minimum. I often test out entire action scenes (which I loathe writing) in script form, so I know I’m satisfied with the pacing, blocking, and amount of movement before I lock it in and write the first draft of actual narrative. It also forces you to make sure your characters are taking actions and not just sitting at a table like talking mannequins.
Transitioning from script to narrative can be mighty tedious sometimes if you try to fit in chunks of narrative in the exact places you left on your initial pass. Fictional prose is organic, so let it breathe.
Maybe you let a character monologue for too long, or they have too much movement in a scene that becomes unnatural and clunky. Or the entire scene ran away from you because the conversation was just that good. Whatever the case, a script, bare minimum, gets your foot in the door.
4. Write Fanfic
I like sci-fi and fantasy. I also like taking my sci-fi and fantasy characters and throwing them into ‘fanfics’ to test out relationships and start to get a feel for what makes them unique from the rest of the cast.
Sometimes the setting changes to something mundane, sometimes it’s a hypothetical scene that the current pacing of the narrative just doesn’t have room for, or it’s a flashback you’ll never include but want to have written so it’s concrete when you reference it in the present.
It also helps you fall in love with your characters when you can write them without consequence, doing whatever, doing whoever, saying whatever, going wherever. In fanfic, their personalities can start to write themselves and you discover them as you write them. And, hey, sometimes you come up with a concept so good, you change the entire real narrative around to fit it.
All your attention doesn’t have to be on the story you’re actually writing.
5. Keep All of Your Deleted Scenes
I keep so many of mine, the ‘deleted scenes’ doc of one book is 40k words longer than the actual manuscript, filled with numerous variations of the same scene written over and over again in vain trying to keep something that no longer works.
Keep them for several reasons:
It reminds you of how far you’ve come.
You can pick through the bones for bits of dialogue and setting descriptors even if the majority is trashed.
You remind yourself of what didn’t work before, so you don’t fall in that same trap again.
If you change your mind, all you have to do is copy-paste it back in.
6. Remember First Drafts are First Drafts
Let the word spew flow forth from your fingers and don’t look back and start questioning every decision and all its flaws until your creativity tank starts sputtering on empty. It’s supposed to be messy, it’s supposed to have plot holes and typos and inconsistencies and things to fact-check. If you start hyper-fixating on making sure your manuscript has absolutely no errors before moving on to the next chapter, it will never get written, and you’ll convince yourself you’re a terrible writer.
Writing is easy. Revisions are hard. Just as storytelling doesn’t have to be linear, neither does the writing process. If that critical first line just won’t come to you, stuff a mediocre one in its place and move on. Write the ending first. Write all the romantic entanglements first. Write the big climactic argument first and figure out how the rest falls into place around your beautiful centerpiece.
But remember: You do, at some point, have to write the hard stuff. Hopefully, when the time comes, you look at all the rest you’ve written and are proud enough of your progress that those daunting scenes that looked impossible before become much more approachable now. Do it for your future readers who want to know how it ends. Do it for your characters. Do it for you.

The surviving suspect, a human-ganzi woman of probable protean heritage, illegally entered the Adivian Bridge security zone maintained by the Order of the Scourge on the night of Calistril 21 at approximately one in the morning. Her entry from the surrounding underbrush bypassed designated security checkpoints, leading to her arrest shortly after. By order of presiding garrison commander, Paralictor Jaisade of the Scourge, the woman was detained for immediate investigation into suspected espionage and/or infiltration on behalf of hostile forces of Adivian Bridge fortifications.
The suspect maintained her innocence throughout her arrest, claiming only that she sought medical care for her injuries allegedly sustained from a ghoul attack that also led to the deaths of her four traveling companions. Immediate medical examination proved that the nature of her wounds was consistent with her claims, save for a single blade injury partially severing her right calcaneal tendon [allegedly delivered by one of her companions in the confusion of the attack]. In addition, her visible condition suggested signs of mildly progressed ghoul fever, later confirmed via appropriate testing. No items on her person supported nor refuted the pending charges against her.
An immediate secondary investigation was deemed necessary despite wartime protocol restricting operations not explicitly related to Order concerns, as the presence of ghouls in such proximity to the Adivian Bridge and highway poses a clear threat to continued Order operations. The suspect was temporarily detained, with minimum medical treatment needed to sustain life, for questioning and security, until the completion of the investigation, as per protocol.
Consistent with the suspect’s testimony, tracks from the scene of arrest led to a ruined campsite approximately two miles north and east of the Adivian Bridge containing four humanoid bodies in addition to the corpses of nine ghouls. All are suspected to have perished in active combat as suggested by their wounds, matching those commonly inflicted by ghouls and consistent with the weaponry found among the deceased. However, further investigation of the humanoid corpses and the campsite provided a clear contradiction of the surviving suspect’s claim of innocence. Evidence of involvement in guerilla activity that directly endangers or impedes Order operations and or aids known oppositional forces was discovered among various packs as well as on the persons of individual corpses [e.g. journal detailing Order patrol sightings along Adivian Highway; legal tender bearing serials known to be exchanged among known hostile factions; more individually detailed within.] None of the evidence connected the slain agents to a specific faction noted to be involved in the war, aside from the discovery of an Asmodean holy symbol upon one of the corpses suggesting possible Thrune affiliation. When confronted with the discovered evidence, the surviving suspect expressed shock before becoming nonverbal. Her physical condition at the time prevented the use of more traditional interrogation methods.
Ultimately, it is not believed the suspect approached the Adivian Bridge with hostile intent. As the torches around the bridge and battlements are both unobscured at night from the scene of the attack, as well as the closest sign of civilization, the survivor’s testimony that she only sought medical help is believed to be legitimate. Further corroborating her claims of innocence, the cadence suggested by the cadence of her tracks, her known injuries, and depressed spots along the trail suggesting the suspect fell and did not rise for periods of time indicate an approximate minimum travel time of nine hours. Aligned with the progressed state of her ghoul fever alongside the estimated time of death of both the ghouls and enemy agents, it is not believed she was able to deviate from her path to meet with a sponsor or superior.
The original charges are not believed by the investigation to be founded.
However, despite the surviving suspect’s cooperation throughout the majority of the investigation, and her silence and inability to produce evidence of both her uninvolvement and ignorance in her companions’ espionage, the investigation concludes that the survivor is yet guilty by extension of the crimes of the deceased. For subverting the operations of the Order of the Scourge and thus propagating further chaos against the interests of restoring a peaceful and orderly Cheliax, the investigation holds that the suspect be put to death.
Regarding the secondary investigation, thorough searching within the area yielded no further evidence of ghoul presence or activity. It is not believed that any remain in the area. In addition, no ghasts were among the ghoul corpses. The attack is believed to have been an isolated event.
The active investigation concluded after forty-five hours.
No further resources are recommended.

Writeblr Introduction
Hi! I’m Jessica Gail (she/her). I’m new to Writeblr, though I’ve been on Tumblr for many years now. I have recently decided to create a sideblog for my serialized romance writing under a new pen name, just so these stories have a place of their own.
I’ll be posting writing updates, art/snippets, and edits here. My hope is that I can connect with other authors and be part of a community of writers.
While I love to read most genres, it's all romance from me here. I am hosting my writing in free weekly updates on Substack and you can check it out here if you are interested.
Tropes I enjoy writing:
Found Family
Redemption Stories
HAPPY ENDINGS
Enemies to Lovers
Opposites Attract
WIP:
Six Strings & Stardust
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Summary:
World-renowned pop sensation, Naomi Bell, finds herself entangled with the charismatic front man, Benjamin Ferreira, of a rock band that is quickly making a name for itself. Their encounter is nothing short of electric as a profound connection forms between them during a very charged weekend. However, their blissful time together is shattered by expectations and misunderstandings, propelling them into an intense and highly publicized feud.
The media frenzy intensifies as Naomi and Ben engage in a lyrical battle, each pouring their emotions and frustrations into their music. With every verse, they exchange sharp words and veiled accusations, fueling the flames of their apparent animosity.
As their fame and careers skyrocket, the once infatuated duo now stand on opposite sides of the music spectrum, bitterly divided by a web of misconceptions and manipulations. But, despite the ever-growing chasm between them, their hearts keep pulling them back to each other.
In the midst of the turmoil, both artists face immense pressure from their loyal fans and industry expectations. They struggle to break free from the stereotypes and preconceived notions that have woven a complex web around their lives. Amidst the chaos, they discover the true power of their music - a medium through which they can communicate their deepest desires and emotions.
Driven by an unrelenting determination to reunite, Naomi and Ben embark on individual journeys of self-discovery. Along the way, they confront their personal demons, navigate the treacherous waters of fame, and rediscover the passion that first drew them together.
As their paths converge once again, they find solace in their shared experiences and an unbreakable bond that defies the odds. United by their passion for music and a profound understanding of each other's struggles, they rise above the fabricated feud that tore them apart.
This is a story of forgiveness, redemption, and the unbreakable spirit of two artists who refuse to be defined by the barriers erected around them.
Upcoming Stories:
In a world where people are destined to find their soulmate through a unique name tattoo, one woman with an incredibly common name ends up meeting two men who share the same bizarrely uncommon name that she happens to have tattooed on her skin. She must navigate the complexities of fate, choice, and love as her heart becomes entangled in a web of unexpected connections.
When a woman stumbles upon a mystical journal that materializes anything written in it, she seizes the opportunity to create her ideal partner. But as her dream man comes to life, she soon realizes that perfection may not be all it seems, leading to a poignant exploration of the power of love and self-acceptance.
I can’t wait to meet and interact with other writers here!

The Voice In The Wires - New WIP Intro
Genre: Cyberpunk-Horror
Backstory: Shortly after a gifted, but troubled, high school senior--Rachel--kills herself. The junior--Danika--she tutored begins to received text messages and DMs from someone who claims to be the dead student. At first Danika calls it off as someone playing a bad prank. Yet after she finds out other students she tutored received similar messages, Danika delves deep to find who would do such a thing.
Only to find herself going down a rabbit hole that leads to experimental nano-drugs, corporate cover-ups, and a young woman who discovers an ability to directly connect to the internet--where the vengeful spirit of Rachel dwells.
Main Characters
Danika Quin: A bisexual high school junior with few friends, a cat named Neko, and an inquisitive mind. Not particularly gifted in school or athletics. Plays dungeons and dragons on the weekends. Loves anime, and has a crush on the new foreign exchange student.
Rachel Goldsmith: A gifted high school senior who has never failed at anything in life--at least academically. Despite a full scholarship to the University of Washington. She lost out on an opportunity for a prestigious internship over the summer at Pharma-Tek Corp. Constant bullying from a particular Stacey. As well as a growing mental illness she had hidden from everyone outside of her family. Finds herself standing at the edge of a very tall building.
Amber Quin: Danika's older sister, a sophomore at University of Washington for English and Journalism helps Danika in her investigation. Spends too much time buried in her own work that she can't see the forest from the trees sometimes.
William and Sally Quin: Both doctors and rarely home. Oblivious to their daughters' lives, but good-natured, well-intentions.
Emily Goldsmith: Single mother, lawyer, and with the stubbornness of a bull.
There's a few others as well! I am already halfway through a chapter and hope to have several more done soon!

IM ATTACKING YOU RIGHT BACK 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️ how did you get into fandom/writing fic and how do you come up with inspiration for fic ideas? is there a specific place or time of day that strikes you?
Ahem… BUCKLE IN FOLKS this is a long af answer but I have the time. So sit down with your popcorn. Lola this all your fault 🥰
How did you get into fandom: I have (brace yourselves) read in fandom for over 15 years before participating in any way shape or form outside of just enjoying it from the comfort of my screen. I read or watched something many moons ago and said I want more and tada I was initiated. But I stuck around for so long because of the sheer creativity, and talent, and ingenuity of people globally to come together and say “we want more and if you won’t give us more we will do it ourselves.”
I was that reader that lurked with guest kudos and left random inane comments from accounts you could never trace back to one place. When I mean read I mean… if I did have an AO3 account or an ffnet account during that period of time, the sheer number of works in the history would be of concern to everyone.
How did you get into writing fic: As for writing in general, I have a stack of journals I’ve kept since middle school, and an itch in my fingers that feels like I am broken if I am not writing. From the minute I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up “author” was the answer and it’s always sat at the back of my subconscious like one of those rocks in the bottom of your shoe. There are too many stories rattling around in my head that want to get out, but I took a break for 8 years of writing anything except my journal entries because the world can be a cruel place.
I started writing again just this year in June, and it was really a case of “write the things you want to see in the world,” + it’s time to get back on the horse + the thirst to participate more than just sit on the outside peering in at the inside jokes of chapter end notes and tumblr links I never clicked on. I joined a single discord, had a breakdown, and bon appetite here we are 3 months later with an actual AO3 account, a Tumblr, and a WIP list that is at least 15 works long 4 of which are 25+ chapter outlines.
(This truly was fueled by an idea I had this March for a RWRB full length mystery novel law-case thriller that I could NOT get out of my head, it now has 37 chapters outlined and is getting written this fall/winter to be posted next year)
Where does your inspiration come from: My inspiration comes from everything everywhere all at once. (Not meant to be a reference but it was too good not to use). A not so succinct list of places I’ve found inspiration:
the truth is stranger than fiction: my first day post for FirstPrince week is a “there was only one tent” situation that actually happened on a camping trip this summer. I screamed internally the entire time it was going down.
Songs: I could never write while listening to music except I absolutely will imagine storylines from it. The song Delilah by Mikolas Josef and Mark Neve is going to produce a smutty RWRB one shot of a ski weekend hookup
Co-Authoring: I am currently working on two different co-authored fics. One with @celaestis1 that was just us lovingly yelling at eachother in the DM’s until an outline was made and now every chapter we write makes me more and more giddy. The other is a RWRB x PJO au with @read-and-write- and @userd0esn0texist that is genuinely the most ridiculous fun I have ever had plotting. There is a full blown super six prophecy y’all are not ready.
Prompts: my first two works ever (ever!) were based off of the same prompt for a gift fic exchange. “Don’t look at me I thought we were getting ice cream” (you can read the results of that prompt here or here) I’m participating in @thebrownstone FirstPrince Week which has 7 prompts and @halloweenhuh with two different prompts as well. Sometimes it’s the best way to get the juices flowing.
Asking for it: if someone asks “hey is there a fic that does this” and I haven’t found it, it is really easy to think “hmmm but maybe I could write it” and then the dominos fall and I’m stuck with a problem of my own creation
Fulfilling a need or gap in the fandom: honestly, my current WIP I’m posting is an Ace!Alex fic because well… we need more ace fic in general, but also more ace fic that is happy, and positive, and loving. I love a good whump fic as much as the next person, but sometimes you just need some serious fluff. (Also my first two fics are Demi!Alex so maybe I have just stumbled into this on accident though many of my upcoming fics differ from this pattern)
I want it I got it: truly most of my WIP’s started from a “wouldn’t it be funny” idea that then morphed very quickly into an out of control spiral in my notes app.
Betas: the backbone of fandom and honestly the people who help me take incoherent ramblings and make them something readable. So many amazing ideas come from betas leaving comments in my gdocs and for that I am forever thankful
Is there a specific place or time of day that strikes you?: HA I uhhhhhh will wake up in a cold sweat at 4:37 in the morning with a fic idea, I’ll come up with one walking to work, I’ll get an idea standing in like for groceries. Genuinely my notes app is always open. All of the random ideas I get from a line, to a more fleshed out plot idea go into a note or the matching doc called “table scraps” and then if they evolve from there they get their own note or document for them.
First 🧚🧚 Nice Ask Day 🧚🧚 answer and I can’t wait to ask/answer more

kasperia character journal please? 👀
Hi Romeo! Sorry this is a lil late (days later edit: now a lot late), time kind of stopped functioning for part of Friday, hahhh . Anyway some good luck on this one being the only one I have screenshots from while my laptop hangs between this world and the next! (days later edit: it's actually dead forever) Anyway, this was admittedly a bit of a cheat because it is a tabletop character journal, but it's a WIP to me and I like working on it. Counts!
Anywayyyy. I don't think it's actually been said on Tumblr at this point, but Kasander and Asperia are two parts of a dissociative identity disorder system (I don't know if this is too jargon-y an explanation...?). Not the only two, but the two who interface the most with the outside world and in some ways have the strongest feelings about "Asperia's" life. In tabletop, their journal is how they communicate with one another to mitigate the effects of losing time and to get some sense of coordination with what they're doing. On a meta level, it helps me track what each of them knows about game events and how they feel about each other (and any other alter who adds something to the journal). Relationships within the system aren't really something that generally makes sense to externalize into regular RP. The journal is a helpful way to develop that running self-exploration side plot without derailing what's happening in session.
It's been a really fun exercise in character voice. I love writing epistolary type stuff- Carmen's mission report character journal was one of my favorite parts of playing her back in 2019- so it's been very relaxing to me. Excited for our hiatus to end to gather more material for it. I've gotten a little off track from some original plans though- one significant concept I'd had going in was that Kasander's parts of the journal are written as direct letters to Asperia, while Asperia's were supposed to be written as a diary as if the other pages didn't exist. Stubborn willful ignorance from someone struggling to come to terms with their reality. Unfortunately, it's very fun to write things that are a little bit more communicative ^^;; I'll probably have to rewrite pieces of recent parts of the journal to be a bit more in line with that intent before adding the next chunk to our party's notes drive. Not a lot room to develop the twins' relationship over time if there's not much distance between the start and the end, after all.
With that said, some of the direct exchanges are very fun. Pros and cons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's also fun to think through what's tracked and what's omitted (intentionally or unintentionally). Kasander loves describing the cultural experience of a location but carefully skips mentioning having actually spent money on things. They're always on thin ice with the funds. Asperia keeps (mildly exaggerated) accounts of personal achievements but completely skips over failures, especially failures that involved injury to the body. She needs to communicate a sense of superiority- something that certainly works when Kasander apologizes profusely any time the body is hurt under their care.
Tumblr media
(yeah it seemed like a good idea at the time to use a more "handwritten" font for the final thing but I've been having A Lot Of Regrets)
I unfortunately don't have a screenshot, but the journal has also had one small addition from Paracelsus as well. It's just a to-do list of ways to organize and restock the crafting supplies. Very typical of them. Asperia thinks he wrote it, like everything Paracelsus writes.
Also fun to get to work in some in-world explanations for things that raise some meta questions, like not having some items that I need for my character concept (I ran out of starting equipment budgettt). This bit is also consistent with the pattern that Asperia avoids referring to Kasander by name.
Tumblr media
How common the two of them actually sabotaging each other's possessions is has yet to truly be established, but it is an aspect of what the party thaumaturge refers to as their "feud."
Pros over BG3: they are aware of and communicating each other, and they didn't have to have five near death experiences for it to happen. Yay!
Cons over BG3: lot more hostility from Asperia persisting past that point. Kasander did in fact ruin their life a little.

Hello! Please tell me about Qin Su's slutty adventure, because she deserves it. (I also want to know about JYL and tentacles as well as the magical boyfriend journal) :D
Hello! You hit a trio of team efforts. 👀
Qin Su's Slutty Adventures is a delightfully filthy porn-logic romp @maniibear and I have written like... half-ish of wherein Qin Su, having <handwaves> discovered the truth of her parentage ahead of schedule and perhaps engaged in a little light parricide with her brothers, decides that her next goal is to strengthen inter-sect relationships. Carnally. Her brothers are happy to help meimei achieve her dreams. 😌 It's basically "you've heard of slut shaming but what about slut praising huh?": the fic.
[INCEST WARNING]
A puff of laughter greets her lips, and then slender, callused fingers slide along her jaw and into her hair. The hand is too small to be Jin Zixuan’s, and the calluses are wrong to be Jin Guangyao’s. She shivers in excitement at the realization that for the first time, they’ve brought her someone new. Their lips are soft, teasing against her own, and she's dizzy just from the kiss, so turned on that it's finally happening, that her geges have deemed her ready. She moans a little when they pull away, and her partner gives a low, amused chuckle. When the blindfold is removed, she looks up to see the smirking face of Luo Qingyang, cheeks flushed and eyes hot. "Don't think we didn't remember everyone on your list, meimei," Jin Zixuan says, kneeling behind Qin Su to untie the sash at her waist. "Mianmian was very excited to help us get you ready." "Can't be cultivation society's favorite slut if you don't know your way around a pussy," Luo Qingyang says with a wink. “It will be my genuine pleasure to help you in your ambitions, Qin-guniang.”
[/end incest warning]
JYL tentacle friend is a very sketchy PWP idea @theleakypen and I have discussed wherein a friendly cephalopod with some mental projection powers squeezes its entire body into a cavity she did NOT expect it to fit. 🫢🐙
And Zhancheng Magic Boyfriend Journal is an unfinished modern AU with @bideroo where Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji are each gifted a diary that is enchanted to link with that of your soulmate so you can exchange anonymous messages. Here's JC's opening salvo:
Well, I’ll give them this, the commitment to verisimilitude is impressive. I’m pretty sure this is bullshit, but if there’s actually someone on the other end of this, hi, I guess.
My name is ncuk47^÷&×hdj7hka(@
You can call me hdk^63$(zws<@=p
hdk^63$(zws<@=p
Wow, for a journal that’s supposed to help us find our “fated one,” you’d think they’d be a little less zealous with the redacting.
MAN WHAT IF WE FINISHED THINGS HUH? Thank you for the ask!

any tips/reassurance for when u have lots of owed art (comms, trades, etc)? i get stressed over making people wait too long sometimes with just a few things on my list. u manage to make SO MUCH stuff for patreon and personal work combined each year?? must be magic no other way /pos
let me start with saying:
people are [generally] more than okay waiting for art!
you are one person. you can get sick, have emergencies, and you also need personal time as well! you're not a company, and most clients are very understanding of that. there will always be the one odd client that's impatient, yes. it does happen. but as long as you are transparent, communicate, and [as a bonus] have a public queue - you really have no reason to fret.
i have commissioned artists that took three days to finish art. i have commissioned artists that took three months to finish art. there is no "standard" turnaround time when it comes to commissions. every artist works at different paces, not every artist is self-employed. some have school or jobs that take away time from their art, and that’s fine! it is okay to take a long time to finish your work! just be honest.
let me elaborate [i’m gonna say client a lot but these can also apply to trades]
be transparent: if you know it'll take you a while to finish the art, write that in your commission post and/or order form when you open. make that the very first thing the client knows before any payment is exchanged. i like to write it in my order form and in my first email back when i'm taking on a commission, as it covers my butt and keeps the client in the know.
public queue: set up a trello or make a post/journal somewhere [such as furaffinity or deviantart] where your clients can go and see the progress of their work. if they can go check where they’re at in the queue there, they won’t have to stress you out by having to send you an email every week for updates.
answer in a timely manner: i have an autoresponder set up for my email. it lets clients know that a) i got their message and b) i’ll respond to them within a couple business days [if there are no other delays / holidays]. it takes away the stress of having to drop everything and answer my client right then in there, as much as my adhd brain panics and wants to do that. it also reassures the client that their messages are getting through and that they aren’t getting ghosted if i don’t respond for a day or two.
if there’s going to be a delay, tell your client asap! if you have an emergency that’ll impact your work, tell your client as soon as possible. you do not have to go into personal details, just be honest and say “hey, there’s been an unexpected event that’ll cause a delay in updates. i will try and get an update to you as soon as i’m able. thank you for your patience!” and leave it at that. the majority of your clients will be understanding and grateful for the update.
be professional. a little professionalism goes a long way. you can be more lax with trades as usually you're doing that with friends, but if a client checks in to see the status of their commission maybe write "thanks for checking in! here's what i've got so far" and attach a WIP or "thank you for checking in! i don't have an update for you yet but will try and get one to you soon! thank you for your patience!". some artists merely say "i don't have an update sorry", and sure that does work, but it may come off dismissive to your client and they're not going to feel great about waiting. it's okay to not have an update yet when messaging people back! just be honest about it.
if you’ve bitten off more than you can chew: refund them. it's not bad business if you have to refund a client. if you find you've taken on more work than you can handle, or just cannot fulfill a client's commission - you absolutely have the option to simply refund them. be sincere, apologize for their time, thank them for considering you, and tell them you hope they'll consider commissioning you again in the future.
i hope this reassures you a bit! i 100000% understand the stress from making people wait in the queue for a long time. i’m the exact same way!! but rest assured they’re not going to get mad at you for having to wait. like i’ve already said multiple times; just communicate and be transparent and you’ll be fine!

In the mood for a Fic...
~*~
1. Itmf, any fics with similar vibes to "Would You Come Home?" by s6115? Esp any hurt comfort fics where wwx's innocence is discovered before he gets brought back to life?
hey, don’t you wanna go? down this road and never come back? Series by comforting_monachopsis (M/T, 25k, WangXian, Diary/Journal, Golden Core Reveal, Canonical Child Abuse, Canonical Character Death, YL WWX, Grief/Mourning, Dysfunctional Family, Angst and Tragedy, Canon Divergence, Fluff and Crack, Yúnmèng Siblings Feels, Twin Prides of Yúnmèng Dynamics, Good Sibling JC, Good Sibling WWX, Yunmeng Bros Reconciliation, Good Kid LSZ, Misunderstandings, Idiots in Love, Good Uncle WWX, Good Uncle JC) Ok, so Comforting_Manochopsis' "Hey, don't you wanna go down that road?" series technically counts for 1, but only if you read BOTH stories, as the first story is technically a stand alone tragedy since it ends without wwx's resurrection.

3. Ooo fics where A) nhs was on wwx's side during the whole wen remnants debacle. Even if he doesn't have the political power/resources to help (whether officially or personally). Esp if nhs pov. Also! B) Nhs finding and taking in baby ayuan.
3A)

4. For the next 'itmf' I'm in desperate need for fanfics where lwj gets heavily injured trying to save wwx, it can be on any arc, modern aus work too, preferably happy endings! [ injuries that are not the 33 whip lashes tho ]
~*~
5. This might be a bit of a challenge, but for an IITMF, can I get some fics that give some attention to Wei Changze?? We all know Cangse Sanren is the more famous of the two, but come on!! Give Papa Wei some love!!!

6. hi lovely people! may ask for.. fics where madam lan's situation makes lwj goes the opposite way of 'perfect disciple' and into 'rebel' or 'maliciously compliant' territory (even if only low-key like So He Thinks He's Straight (A Memoir By Lan Zhan) ? bc in another world, using scarce visits to her as blackmail for good behaviour might backfire actually, both if she dies when he's little or in a madam-lan-lives au. thank you!

7. Hello! Sorry for bothering, since its my first time asking something and Idk if im doing it right-- I wanted to read something about wei ying being in a band, preferable in a rock/metal band, and lan zhan being just a normal person. I really loved forever & whatever, but it's unfinished. The longer the better, and if it's novel/canon dynamics even better! Many thanks! @cosmic-latteh

12. I'm (always) in the mood for fics where the Jiangs are bad parents to wwx. Not necessarily violent or abusive, but where JFM and/or YZY don't totally bring him into the family. Where they're a bit neglectful or don't give wwx his due, if that makes sense? Especially when wwx just Accepts it. I love the angst of him being left out, or struggling if the jiangs cut him off easily/disown him, etc. Bonus for an outsider being mad on wwx's behalf. Thank you! @math-is-magic

I’m so glad you liked what I sent in again for the Three Wishes part 2 (genie yandere)! I really like that I was able to help you cause your writing talent is way too good. (And as a fellow artist…I get what it’s like to be in a roadblock and the frustration that comes with it).
I actually really love reading more unusual or less well known fairy tales and mythology, so I could always send some more your way so you don’t have to do any research. (You can be lazy! Yay!) Though if you’re up for that, I think it’d be easier if I just messaged you privately instead of going back and forth with anon asks (if that’s comfortable with you of course).
I also like Reader’s “suffering” too in yandere stories. I always like stereotypical HEA, but my version of “suffering” is more so that the yandere wins (and Reader doesn’t die either or is heavily abused to the point where death is the better option. I hate where there is no heavy “dere” in yanderes, cause if it’s just “yan,” it’s just an abusive piece of shit).
That’s absolutely understandably about not wanting to focus on the Prince, I was just throwing it out there in case you wanted to make him a new important OC. And changing the Prince into a different profession also is perfectly fine. (Heck in the original story, pretty much the main reason the Prince was out and about was because he was scholarly-like. Having a deep and wide fascination with all the world had to offer. The dude really just wanted to go on an adventure and learn more).
And I’m glad 6.e. made your heart explode with delight! (I also have a guilty pleasure of thinking about all the fucked up things yanderes can do to their lover/others).

Do whatever you feel comfortable ask if you wanna stay anon or dms~ If you are thinking about spam this blog doesn't get many to to be fair. But yeah it is probably more comfortable in dms.
But just a heads up I personally don't know when I would actually start posting here again just yet. While I am slowly getting back to writing rn but I am taking the chance to write some longer stuff or more personal (deranged really) without pressuring myself to post like one or two fics every week. (also started another hobby of journalling soo) If you don't mind just exchanging ideas and stories then yeah~ ^^
Another reason why I dont want to deal with tags, hashtags and proofreading
But yeahhh hmm I deff placed a few readers in a "better death than this" while also adding to it that the reader in my head still has a fear of death but no real bad abuse???? I THINK- lmao Ehh I guess it is more so I love the idea of yanderes having control over where the reader is I guess, so controlling the area where they are, or maybe the controlling the mind or movements, or arranged marriages :p All my wips that i am working on currently is just that right now. Either one or a mix of them.

Requesting some WDLF: WSLFIASAN 2 for WIP Wednesday because I am always intrigued by large amounts of letters I don't understand. It delights me.
So, I totally screwed up the acronym, because of course I did. This particular round of the We Die Like Fen chaos exchange is called We’re Dark Like Fen in a Storm at Night. Unfortunately, I had to default. Have a little bit from whiskey on the rocks & adderall instead!
~
His dad gives his torso a pointed look. Stiles looks down and sees that he’s wearing one of Derek’s t-shirts.
“It’s totally about smelling like pack!”
“Son, I went to see Derek about a case and he opened the door wearing a red hoodie that was too small for him.”
“Because smelling the pack helps with separation anxiety!”
His dad’s giving him an impatient look now. “You know detective work is part of my job.”
“There’s nothing here to detect!”
“He gave you a family heirloom for Christmas.”
OK, so Stiles doesn’t really have an answer to that one. He understands why Derek didn’t give the journal to Deaton. Stiles is pretty sure Derek doesn’t fully trust the druid, and after what happened with Gerard, Stiles doesn’t blame him. Still, he’s Derek’s emissary. Shouldn’t he have the former emissary’s journal?

Best Of
Rules: Link a few pieces of writing that you think best define you, your aesthetic, or your personality.
I was tagged by @omgkalyppso ! Thank you!! <3
I definitely think my dialogue/characterization is my strongest aspect of my style. So here's a few passages that I really love + one from a wip that isn't dialogue but i like the prose.
Bad Blood (Mature): Part 1 of Bend & Break; Word Count: 2,764; Original setting and characters, backstory for my D&D character, Gale.
CW: mentions of child abuse
“What do you plan to do with him? Put him out on the fucking street? Run your little errands while he gets shot at and killed?” Hayden’s voice was filled with venom.  “I didn’t pay you to ask questions, Hayden,” Ace was calm, with only a hint of tension. “I was handed an asset, I plan on using it.”  “Oh, I’m not fucking surprised. Asset, that’s what he is to you?”  Gale saw Ace straighten. “And what do you plan to do about it? Run to the police?” There was a smile in his voice. “I’m sure they will take your report with the sincerity it deserves.”  Hayden leaned forward onto Ace’s desk, completely blocking Gale’s view of his father. “I’m not afraid of you. Lay a hand on that child while I’m here, and I will fucking break it. I might snap your legs, too, just for old time’s sake.”
Feather Fall (Teen and Up): Part 2 of Witcher, Poet, King; Word Count: 3,311; The Witcher; Zafir (original school of the griffin character) spends the winter at Kaer Morhen following the collapse of Kaer Seren.
CW: mentions of alcohol
Another storm rolled in a week later, trapping the witchers inside Kaer Moren. While most of them gathered around the fireplace and drank through the day and night, Zafir occupied the candle-lit laboratory. He spent the first few hours experimenting with more potent ingredient combinations, writing the results in his journal. As he was bottling some of his new concoctions, another witcher strolled in. He was the youngest of the group, who Zafir had few indecent exchanges with. Lambert held a crate of bottles of alcohost, that he nearly dropped on the table. One of the potions wobbled, and would have toppled over if not for Zafir’s reflexes. The griffin glared at Lambert. “What do you want?” He snapped, patience already wearing thin.  Lambert leaned on the crate, looking at Zafir’s work. “Dunno. Vesemir told me to hall this crate down here. And to make sure you weren’t disrupting his moldy books,” Lambert nodded to a series of bookshelves that were covered in a blanket of dust.  “I have little interest in the basic knowledge every witcher should know,” Zafir muttered, firmly corking his potions before Lambert could cause real harm.  “I don’t even remember half the shit Vesemir taught us,” Lambert raised a brow. “Sitting through his lectures was worse than watching paint dry.”  “That is to be expected of a man with your character,” He bent under the table, digging through one of his saddlebags for a wooden box.  “Asshole,” Lambert walked around the table, picking up one of Zafir’s potions and swirling the pitch black liquid inside. It sparkled like oil against the dim light. Despite nearly spilling it just moments before, he handled the bottle with the same care he would a freshly sharpened blade. “Black blood, but you did something to it?”  Zafir watched Lambert closely. “There is a thistle that grows in Koviss with toxic thorns that have a minor paralytic effect. When properly portioned with the other ingredients of black blood, those effects can be enhanced. I hope it has the potential to paralyze a vampire or similar fiend when they bite.”  “Interesting, although it just sounds like you had a deadly encounter with a vampire. Not that you would have the scars to prove it,” Lambert gently set the bottle down. “A witcher without scars. You’re even more of a freak than the rest of us.”  Zafir opened the box, where he had about three potions of various colors remaining. He opened a secondary compartment, where he stored his newly mixed potions. “Did you just accept Vesemir’s task so you could bother me?”  “Perhaps. If you hadn’t noticed, it's a bit boring and miserable upstairs. And when Geralt gets back from watch I don’t want to be sent out there. The snow is sideways, Zafir.”  “Ah, so you’re hiding,” The corners of Zafir’s lips twitched. “I think I should go thank Vesemir for bringing down the crate of alcohost, and that you were very excited for Geralt to return from watch.”  Lambert’s cocky smile flattened. “Was that your attempt at humor?” Zafir returned his gaze to his box, putting it back together and closing it. “I don’t really want to go out there either, in truth.”  Lambert wandered over to some more crates on the far side of the room, moving them aside. “So you’re hiding too,” There was another crate behind the others, with a thick bear hide over top. “Vesemir is so shit at hiding his good stuff,” He reached down, pulling out an intricate bottle. “Would be a shame if a couple of idiots like us got into it.”  Zafir frowned, then sighed. "I suppose you aren't going to just let me walk out, are you?"  "Drinking alone sucks," Lambert popped the cork.  "I know."
Call in the Wind (WIP, Mature): The Elder Scrolls; Lazarus (original dunmer character) wading through the grief of losing his mother finds new purpose in unraveling the mystery of his father's identity.
CW: death mention
Lazarus slid into the tub, the steam a blanket of warmth that spread across his face and neck. He sat for a few minutes, submerged at his shoulders with the length of his hair sitting atop the water like an oil spill collar. It had been a long time since he could appreciate true silence in this house. He expected to hear the echoes of his mother’s cough from the other room, or the hissing of a kettle above the fire. Instead, there was nothing. The water was still as he was, still as his mother’s coffin on the long journey to Necrom.  Lazarus couldn’t let his mind linger too long on what he lost. He sank further into the water, disturbing its tranquil surface as he held his breath. He emerged again with ripples bouncing off the edges of his tub. He wiped the water from his eyes and squeezed his hair, the tapping of water breaking the serenity. Lazarus’ thoughts turned to his father, who he now could put a name to. Before her mind succumbed to her illness, his mother spoke about Balthazar for the first and last time. “I know you,” she said. “I know you will go looking. And when you do find him, you’re going to give him a piece of your mind. I like to think he still loved me, but it’s been over fifty years. Not a letter, not a trace of his existence.”
