yesterday I was just in town at my hair dresser but there was a song that was on the radio it's a korean song.But what caught my attention was my salonist talking about kpop songs/kdramas and kpop artists etc..But the client that she was discussing this with mentioned jimin "Jimin from that big kpop boy band" those were her words.She said she isnt a fan of kpop. i was really curious and i joined in their conversation by showing them the bts group photo and without hesitation she pointed at Jimin.But she was mixing up the names of members 😭like she just knows jimin.And it's an ongoing thing in the fandom that people always joke with locals only know jimin like jimin is like the face of kpop.all locals know jimin and its not a joke btw his name always pops out in random places...So I was asking why do locals only know jimin the other members are popular too so I don't understand why just him?.Why is he the only one who is popular among locals

It's becoming a cliche to point to his talent, hardwork and charisma as that quality that draws people to him- when truth is there are so many talented hardworking people out there we care nothing about even if we came across them. This is because they lack something that JM has in abundance.

Mystery.

Mystery is one of the most attractive traits a person could have. Some do well to cultivate it through their actions, fashion choice, personality or even sexuality. But for JM it comes so natural to him because it is how he has been made by God herself.

Truth is Jimin is outstanding to most because he is effortlessy and divinely mysterious. It's easy to look at someone like Jungkook and say he is an attractive young man. Taehyung is beautiful. Jin is a boy over flower type of guy but Jimin is hard to place in a box because he doesn't fit into any gender stereotype. He is quite androgynous and androgyny is a mystery to most.

As Virginia Wolf says, in each of us two powers preside, one male, one female. The androgynous mind is resonant and porous; naturally creative, incandescent and undivided.

And as another poet writes, a great mind must be one that is androgynous. To embody both masculine and feminine divinaties.

Throughout history artists and philosophers have been obsessed with androgyny and in one way or the other deemed androgyny as higher a form of being and beauty. Androgyny never goes out of vogue.

Jimin is such an experience.

For a lot of people when they come across him, they are experiencing the the charms of the Illucebra Arcanus for the very first time.

His beauty and androgynous looks invites you to dig deeper into him. To unravel his mysteries. You become curious about him, fascinated with him and very soon captivated. And when you are captivated that's when he puts you under his spell.

Androgynous people are bound to stand out wherever they find themselves, leave an impression, make you intrigued by them and ultimately bind you under a spell. It's true of Jimin, Harry Styles, Michael Jackson, Prince and the others like them.

When you look at Jimin you say wow to yourself a lot.

My guy is just pure art.

He is a trendsetter

His style is also a contributing factor to his popularity. He is one of the biggest fashion and lifestyle influencers in Kpop. He cares about his looks and what he wears and everything he puts on is interesting. We all want to be Jimin.

Even Doja Cat used his hairstyle as inspiration for her music video get into it

He has an interesting choice in clothes, jewelry, and make up that for someone looking to glam up or step out of their comfort zone or be interesting, it's easy to look to him for inspo.

He is a muse

There has been so many books, songs and movies authored by famous and talented artists all over based on the personality of JM from his looks right down to his features.

Even our own V uses him as muse for writing his songs. He is welcome.

His looks aside, his personality and masculinity is consumable.

This is the Era of the Soft boy. While I won't clasify JM'S physique as soft, his brand of masculinity is so easy to digest. I think I've mentioned this before... yea I have. He has a great personality, he is kind and warm and open. People are attracted to such traits also.

He is right there with the likes of Timote chalamet and the ROCK. We are tired of the aggressive violent markers of gender associated with traditional expressions of masculinity. They are shoved in the trash where they belong.

Due to this, Jimin is also especially popular among the younger fans. I've seen kids mistake him for a girl and try to play princess with him😩

There is a viral video going around of a kid crying because she wanted her Jimin plushie not chim🤣

He steals the show

He stands out in almost every single BTS music video because he is a wonderful performer hands down. 🤧

He is a born star. And that's an understatement.

Regardless of the screen time he gets, he outshines every body easily.

Sorry to the others but facts are facts.

His discipline, talent, exquisite brilliance and marvelous interpretation of concepts through channeling every thing that makes him unique makes him such a rare artist to glance over. And he does all these consciously through deliberate choices in movement, landing, sensual expressions, camera interaction, shock value and serves brilliance yo the audience.

When you are looking at him you are not just looking at a person you are looking at passion personified, drive and ambition anthropomorphized. He means business. His intention is to Wow you and he ends up succeeding.

He adds spice to every single song and performance and takes everything up a notch. He is beautiful to look at, his voice taste like honey and his musical technique is just wonderful.

He is cool

This ties back into the first two points I raised on his looks, his style and his artistry.

He has the swag. He got the jams.

Just stunning.

All in all he is a spectacle to behold.

But damn, I have no idea why he is so popular among locals 🥲

10. Something that made you cry this year?

stares at Sleep Token with red-rimmed and puffy eyes

No, I mean. Certainly their music overall and the last leg of their tour (and Wembley) got to me - not ashamed to admit I cried both out of sadness and happiness at seeing how that specific show went. Honestly, I could probably ramble about personal emotions or connections I've felt with their music, but I don't know if I could be eloquent enough (or interesting enough) to go on that much.

Aside from that, there's been several moments especially towards the end of the year where friends have shared funny videos or I've found some on my own time, and I genuinely love the internet for that - for making me laugh so hard I cry. People and their senses of humor are so endearing sometime, I just want to throw awards at them for their talent.

19. What’re you excited about for next year?

Answered here, but I can certainly add more! I want to start drawing again, and I want to try to make it a daily or weekly practice. Seeing so many amazing artists on here - and being lucky enough to call some of them mutuals or friends - has been a genuine delight, and certainly inspirational. That, and I miss it. Used to draw so much as a child throughout my teenage years and I lost both it and the little talent I had with it due to pursuing writing and being busy with school.

Long-winded way of saying: more creative stuff in the new year, hopefully!

22. Favorite place you visited this year?

Hmm, I haven't traveled much at all due to having to be frugal, to summarize that briefly, but I did get to go out-of-state to a convention where I had to speak at a conference. While there, there was a really nice music shop me and the people I was with visited, and I picked up a book of poetry there by one of the shop owners. (Of course, the English major is going to get a poetry book at a music story, the irony.) Not sure if it was my favorite place, but it was certainly memorable! I really do need to travel more.

Oh, I got to try Caribbean food for the first time while I was there which included a whole deep-tried tilapia, which was an experience? Especially with the bones. Not sure what was funnier, me playing Operation as I ate or my friends and coworkers being all surprised about the entire thing. Super delicious, though.

(As an aside, adding taking more pictures to my "plans for next year" thing. My camera roll is mostly my cats and books my professors showed me.)

🎨 When did you start creating art for the Inception fandom, and what is your inspiration?

I kind of stumbled upon Inception's fandom presence on the tail end of Inceptiversary 2020, which was a pretty big deal being the tenth anniversary and all. I saw all the amazing content people were making for the event, and I immediately wanted to join in. I think my first ever Inception art piece was the one where I drew the characters as animal crossing villagers (a most professional and dramatic beginning, I know). After that, I started experimenting with style and color and some more dark/serious stuff, trying to find a balance. I've found a lot of inspiration in the movies of Makoto Shinkai and some other anime-style stuff. While I don't exactly have an anime art style, his work's color palettes and large-scale cityscapes have always been something I admire. I think those aesthetics show in a lot of my work.

🎨 Tell us about your creative process, and which part do you enjoy the most about it?

I wish I had a consistent creative process, but usually it adapts to my mood, the weather, how much time I have, what I had for breakfast, and the position of Venus relative to Jupiter /j. If I'm in the mood, I'll browse pinterest until I see something with a vibe I want to replicate, I spend a couple minutes listening to music and cementing in my mind what I want to try, and then I fiddle around on my iPad/paper until the piece starts to come to life. My favorite part has to be seeing that process all the way through. I'm all about experimenting with new things, so I'll put on some music to keep my stim brain happy and get to work. I can usually draw for three to five hours at a time on a good day.

🎨 Link us to your first and latest artwork, and how your style has evolved since then?

My first Inception artwork was the animal crossing one, where I was just kind of messing around before I really got into Inception content. My most recent non-meme fully finished piece was the ocean one with Cobb and Saito (I'm so good at titling art, huh?). Looking at it now, I think some parts of my original style have stayed intact, like the rounded, thicker outlines. But besides that, I think I've really come a long way since 2020. I learned how to color things, and fell in love with Inception as creative inspiration. I think that love really shows in the art.

🎨 What is your absolute favorite piece of art that you've made, and why?

My favorite piece of art I've ever made is also the biggest one I've ever made, and the one that took the longest. It's called Leap of Faith, and it's not just my favorite because I like the way it looks--it was probably the most fun I ever had making art. If you were following me or on Discord around this time, you know I was hyper and posting progress pics every five minutes because I was so excited about it. This was a big experiment with lighting, mostly. A fun secret about this piece is that the entire color palette is taken from a scene from the movie Your Name. I've used Your Name as inspiration for a lot of my Cobb x Saito stuff, both art and writing. I don't know what it is about that movie that makes me think of them, but it's something about connection against all odds. Also pretty colors.

🎨 What is something about Inception that you really want to make art for someday, and why?

Another big artist inspiration for me is Simon Stålenhag. I read his book The Electric State, and I'm obsessed with his ability to capture emotions in art that sometimes doesn't even have living entities in it. He can show everything from hope to despair in just a cityscape. I would love to make art like his portraying limbo, or Saito's castle.

🎨 Give a shoutout to your favorite Inception artists here!

It's so hard to pick only a few, but I will never get tired of @lemon-yellow‘s watercolors. Lemon has made all my ship dreams come true, and I owe a lot to her. Also, @katribou has some amazing and hilarious Inception art that really got me into the fandom. Finally, shoutout to @dingdangit who brought the Muppet Inception screenplay to life.

🎨 Anything else you'd like to talk about art and the Inception fandom in general ❤

I really owe this fandom so much in terms of all my art. I rediscovered my love of both painting and writing through Inception, and everyone has been cheerleading for me since the beginning. While I may not be active as often in the fandom, I'm now designing tattoos and working towards a career as an author, and I can't say I'd be doing any of this if the gang hadn't hyped up my fanfiction and convinced me that I could draw. Shoutout to everyone in this fandom, even if you don't create and simply comment and leave likes on other people's work. It's all so inspirational, and incredibly important for emerging artists. Having this space to create and experiment in has been so good for my art. Also shoutout to all the smaller ship folks. In a mostly one-ship fandom, we're still going strong and making art, and I think that's awesome.

Do you think that modern eggman has any kind of appreciation for the arts? I see him as the type to appreciate literary works, primarily novels and maybe poetry from time to time. Possibly could be appreciative of fine/visual arts too if he's the one drawing out and designing his robots from scratch (If so, he must be a really good artist!)

Yes absolutely!! He definitely likes reading with all the books we see in one of his private rooms in Adventure!

I imagine that a bunch of them are informative books about science/robotics/machinery/etc, quite similar to how he got books from the library for research in Sonic X. He likes things that he might find useful for work, or he can read and find entertainment in knowing his own work and knowledge on the subjects they're about are far superior to theirs with his genius heheh

But I can also see him reading novels or poetry as another hobby to indulge in his free time and having a nice collection of them, maybe even a huge library somewhere! I could always picture him sitting down with a book to unwind after hard work and a stress relief. He'd be great at story in depth analysis and review and I can see him getting really immersed in it.

There have even been Sonic Official posts that imply that Eggman is an author himself. I'd love for that to be game canon so he could be interested in both reading types of literature from others and also doing writing of his own!

I'm sure he does design and draw out his ideas all by himself. You can see how often his special personal touches and unique design reflects in his creations, with the most notable being those that have any resemblance to his appearance and I adore it heheh. I can't picture anyone else drawing out his creations and designs for him. Because he's so smart, he's probably constantly getting ideas and inspiration all the time, including from things he sees in daily life and maybe commonly taking notes and sketching at the thought.

An example is how he's taken inspiration from various creatures and insects and found creative ways to incorporate and translate their known natural abilities into mechanical functions and attacks for his robots and I find that super cute. He's creating his machines for destruction and I'm like oh my god adorable lol. Designing and drawing it all by himself would be a big part of the pride and accomplishment for him, so they must all be drawn out and designed from scratch with his own hands. With his 300 IQ and genius, he's very imaginative, creative, and skilled!

He was also seen drawing for his creations in Sonic X, which I imagine his game self doing

And he also had stationary at his desk in this Sonic Channel art which he could use for both notes and drawing, so it does point towards that being true

I love to imagine that he's a beautiful and talented artist, he can draw incredible complex detailed artwork for his designs but also likes to scribble cute doodles in his notebooks for fun, like in this Sonic Official post XD 💜 So I can also see him having good artistic knowledge and the ability to analyze, review, and appreciate various works such as fine and visual arts too because he's very creative and imaginative himself. But he knows all if his own works are the greatest of all!

Sonic Official have also shown him to have an interest in music more than once in Twitter Takeovers, where he's talked about appreciating and even creating music. I do feel it would suit his game canon self well and him having an interest in showtunes is very believable! He said he'd tweet about his opinions if he had an account, so perhaps he could even be into analyzing music as well.

I also like the idea of IDW Eggman making figures by hand and I can definitely see him doing this in game canon as I like to imagine the plushies used as test dummies in Final Egg were hand sewn by him. And him drawing his ideas first and then making them into 3D figure models would make a lot of sense. That way he can save time and resources if he decides there's any changes he wants to make and assure that he's happy with it before the real production. He can get right to the tests of function with the actual thing then instead. It's also a fun hobby for him to have and I definitely think he'd like to play with them sometimes too!

I adore the idea of him being artistic and creative in many ways as it shows already through all the creations and designs of his we've seen in the games. Not only is he good at designing and building by hand as much as he can have them produced in his factories, but he's also interested and skilled in other handcrafted creations, art and design in other areas such as artwork and fashion, writing and appreciating various forms of literature, and perhaps even music. I believe in him having a plethora of talents as the brilliant genius he is. 💜💕

Oh my, how unexpected. There appears to be a shiny apple hidden amongst the potato pile. It came as quite the surprise to find a blossoming beauty had tumbled out of the Dark Mirror. Adored by all, you have seemed to gain quite the fan base at Night Raven College, though this was nothing you new to you. Your charisma and carefree personality makes you easy to get along with.

At first, Vil thought of you as some sort of rival. Of course, he has worked long and hard to achieve for his efforts and flaunts that fact onto everyone. However, you attract others towards you with so little effort, your bubbly airheaded demeanor not helping the situation either. But another thing he and the others couldn’t but pinpoint were your fears. How could someone as beautiful as you be so frightened by those that adore you so?

Oh my! How interesting you are Rose Dorée! Such exquisite beauty! You’ll definitely be a new target on Rook’s list once he’s laid his eyes on you. He finds it amusing how quick you are to change personalities as well: one minute you’re charming princess winning the hearts of your classmates, the next your shaking in fear of a man’s presence. You being a female, he’ll try to come off as less threatening but Ace and Deuce are having none of it. He’ll also get scolded by them for invading a lady’s privacy.

At first glance Epel wanted nothing to do with you. To him you were another one of those high class weirdos, just like those in Pomefiore. However, you managed to change his mind once you caught him training out by the courtyard. You called him a strong and honest young man, capable of the strength he so desires, wearing that beaming smile of yours. Your supportive nature may be exactly what he needs, it’s certainly refreshing after all the work Vil puts on him.

Scarabia ☀️

Now this would be interesting: your coolheaded persona and intellect would certainly catch some eyes. Your silver tongue and playful habit of lying makes you at first untrustworthy, but that only means more fun for you as you’ve always been interested in other people. Especially since your ability to weave tall tales, whether it be about your own experiences or something made up, draws them in.

Kalim thinks you just the coolest! Not only are you such a amazing rapper but your such a talented author as well. Whenever you visit Scarabia, he’d pester you like a small child, practically to tell him about your new idea for a next book or how your day was and if anything interesting had happened. He’s also rather gullible when it comes to your habit, he’s so easy to fool and the reaction is just so adorable when he finds you we’re lying. You almost feel bad, but not entirely.

Jamil finds you quite the troublesome one: your ability to fool others so easily worries him seeing as how gullible his master is. You might trick Kalim into doing something irrational or just plain stupid for your amusement. He doesn’t need Kalim jumping off the balcony just because you told him to. However, your persuasive speech and creativity is something he finds both interesting and annoying. He just can’t seem to read you, and it’s getting on his nerves.

Ignihyde 💀

It honestly feels like a dream to you. Of all the places you could end up, it had to be a completely different world. It didn’t help your emotional state that much because not only you were worried about going back home, but the people here don’t take kindly to the sensitive type. However, it came as a shock to everyone finding such a drastic change in your personality, once you gave some unruly students a taste of the dark power you hold within your voice.

Idia is both ecstatic and nervous to meet you. You’re like a character straight out of an anime: a dark and mysterious student from another world? With the destructive yet awesome power of music at your side? And you’re a visual kei artist?! That’s so cool-wait, your crying! Please don’t cry! Was it something he said?! Your crybaby side, however, is something Idia isn’t ever prepared for. He’s worried about hurting your feelings and he’s not that good at comforting.

Ortho thinks your amazing! You have such wonderful talent, and your a real person his big brother is willing to talk to! He also finds Amanda adorable, often asking to hold your little piggie to give it a gentle squeeze. Maybe he should get a plush companion for his brother? It could help ease his nerves.

Inspiration

Pairing: Shawn Mendes x Reader

Warnings: None!

Summary: Sweet moments between Shawn and his girlfriend while recording his next album.

You sat on the couch in the corner of the studio, book long forgotten as you instead chose to stare and admire your handsome, talented boyfriend. Shawn had returned from tour only a few short weeks ago and was already busy again in the studio, creating more new music. Thankfully, you were off on break from school this time around which allowed you to sit in on the writing and recording sessions of this album, a process you had never had the opportunity to see or be apart of before.

When you and Shawn had first started dating, it was still too early in the relationship and Shawn was a bit nervous to invite you into that space, knowing that these were very vulnerable times for him where he would unleash his innermost thoughts, fears, and desires. Then, once time had gone on and you were more comfortable and settled in your relationship, your schedules had never aligned with his crazy touring often forcing him to record while on the road and your hectic school and work schedule not allowing you to tag along. So, this was a very special thing for you to be invited into this space and to see Shawn so completely in his element.

You had always stood by the fact that Shawn performing was your favorite version of your boyfriend. You loved being able to see him so passionate and on fire, energized by the excitement of the fans. However, seeing him now you had a feeling that that was about to change. As you watched him strum his guitar carefully, brows furrowed in concentration, singing softly along to the words, feeling out how they tasted on the tip of his tongue., you couldn’t help but swoon.

You had always loved music. Although you yourself were not musically gifted, either with the ability to play an instrument or even carry a simple tune, you had always had a passion for music and the heart and soul that was involved in every aspect of it. In fact, that common love was something that had first brought you and Shawn together. A mutual friend had introduced the two of you at a party and you had carried the entire night away talking, most of the evening spent sharing your favorite artists, songs that had most deeply effected you, and so on. It was rare that you met someone that you connected on such a deeper level with, but it was a unique bond that you and Shawn both sensed very early on that you possessed. And it was a bond that had only grown stronger with time.

So, being able to sit in the studio now and to watch the love of your life create these beautiful melodies and heartfelt lyrics simply left you teary-eyed. You couldn’t even explain the emotion that was overtaking you at the moment. You were just so grateful to have someone as special and caring as Shawn in your life and to have a front-row seat into his hard work and dedication. He inspired you constantly. And yes, it was nice to be there for the big moments, the award shows and parties and what not, but secretly you loved these quiet moments even more - the chance to see him in a pair of old sweats, eyes soft and tired, curls messily scattered about his face as he dug deep into himself in order to pull out the innermost feelings in his heart in order to bring those things to life with song that would then go on to resonate with so many people. He most certainly had a gift and you counted your lucky stars that you were there to witness it.

You didn’t realize that tears were actually starting to fall down your cheeks until you involuntarily let out a small sniffle, not only startling yourself, but your boyfriend as well. Shawn looked over at you in concern, fingers idly continuing to strum the guitar strings, his team still so focused on the music, not yet noticing your emotional state.

Shawn’s brows furrowed in concern, eyes carefully searching your own as he tried to assess what was wrong. Quickly, before he could stop the flow that the team of musicians had going, you shook your head, signaling that you were fine and that he shouldn’t stop what he was doing.

“You sure?” His eyes seemed to ask you.

A slight smile appeared on your face, loving how caring and attentive your boyfriend was. You had truly struck gold when the two of you met.

“Promise,” you mouthed, wiping the few remaining tears from your eyes before offering a genuine smile, letting him know that you were truly okay and that he didn’t need to worry.

Shawn nodded briefly, turning back to the notes on the paper distractedly, glancing up in your direction every few seconds to ensure that you truly were okay and not just saying that for his benefit.

You shook your head at him, a wry smile twisting its way onto your face. Always so protective, you thought.

A few moments later, the team wrapped up the song they had been playing and Shawn was quick to pipe up before anyone could suggest going again. “Why don’t we take five, everyone?” He announced, setting his guitar down before making his way over to you, the sound of chatter filling the room as the writers, producers, and musicians began sharing their excitement with the progress they had all made thus far.

Shawn sat down on the couch next to you, taking your hand in his and giving it a comforting squeeze. “You okay, baby?” He questioned softly, causing your heart to melt at how sweet he was.

“I’m fine, Shawn, I promise,” you smiled up at him, squeezing his hand in return. “I just got caught up in all the emotion,” you confessed. “It’s a beautiful song. I’m so proud of you, bub.”

Shawn’s face lit up, never tiring of hearing those words from your lips. He loved to receive praise from you and never passed up an opportunity to hear how proud you were of him.

Leaning forward, Shawn gently pressed his lips to your own, pulling you in for a slow, sweet kiss, lips moving softly against one another as you lazily explored each other’s mouths as if it was still the first time.

After a few moments, Shawn pulled away and rested his forehead against your own. “Thank you, baby, that means a lot,” he murmured. “It’s all because of you. You’re my muse. You’re what makes it so easy to write these songs. I have a lot of inspiration to draw from,” he grinned.

You blushed, looking down, still not quite used to the fact that some of the most popular songs in the world at the moment were about you.

“Go, “you smiled, playfully pushing his shoulder. “Go be a rockstar, your creative genius is needed.”

“One more minute,” he replied. “I need a little bit more inspiration,” he teased before leaning back down to press his lips to yours again.

You grinned into the kiss, unable to help it. God, was he cute.

i saw this game going around and my excitement was out of bounds because i essentially thought that all of my favourite authors were being given a chance to celebrate themselves by creating a self rec list of the works they would most love to receive flailing comments on. i never expected to be tagged myself, but the people in this fandom are so wonderfully kind and sweet that despite being relatively new as a participant to the drarry side of tumblr, i have been given the same wonderful opportunity to celebrate the works i am most proud of.

thank you ever so much @sitp-recs and @tackytigerfic for thinking of me. everything the two of you have done this year have played a special part in maintaining my spiralling sanity.

My Hands Are Of Your Colour (7.9k, E) written for the delightful Hp Suds Fest 2020, (and the prompt given by the wonderful @sitp-recs ) this work occupies a special place in my heart. while i adore writing from the perspective of both boys, harry always allows me to explore the depths of my thoughts better. some part of me echoes the same wails of self imposed desolation that his does. i’ve realised that the work i am most proud of is always born of some kind of personal pain– this one is no different. writing a heavy fic with elements tinged with dark themes that was mainly about hurt/comfort felt cathartic. it was difficult for me to leave certain questions unanswered (i like letting my readers know everything) and even more so to simply hint at backgrounds and reveal nothing. but as a writer, this was a creative step forward in storytelling because the finished product felt richer and more multidimensional somehow.

Though Your World Is Changing, I Will Be The Same (15.9k, E) i make it a point to sign up for the H/D Wireless Fest every year not only because the mods are some of most accommodating and talented people i have had the good fortune of working with, but also because i believe musical inspiration draws out the best in me. this fic, about infidelity and love, was one i wrote while working through removing the shards of a broken relationship from my heart. while i don’t necessarily think this is my best work in terms of plot exploration or even character exploration, i do think i will have a hard time retelling a story with the same personal standard of prose. i scavenged the deepest parts of me for all the pain and heartbreak and loss i could feel and converted it into words. i still cannot bring myself to read this fic in its entirety, but sometimes when i go through the document and chance upon certain descriptions and certain emotions, the work feels like a desperate love letter to someone who will never read it, signed off with the happy ending i was hoping for but wasn’t offered.

Every Breath You Take (19.2k, M) written for the Unhappily Ever After Fest, this fic was something that broke all the boundaries and limits i generally set for myself as a writer. i tend to write young!drarry, in their early twenties, or at best early thirties, but this one had me writing about draco and harry as parents to a teenage boy. what’s more, while i love writing angst, i usually can’t find it in myself to write tragedies, finding that they break my own heart more than they could break a reader’s. this fic however, was based entirely on the premise of death, terminal illness and the gradual destruction of a relationship that could have ruled the world. when i was writing this, my personal agony was fresher and hope was absent almost entirely. i am actually proudest of this fic for the magical theory i came up with, simply because i usually don’t explore much of that at all in other fics. i especially love that i thought to personify death in this, because i think, in some inexplicable way, that decision changed how i view death even in this world.

i unfortunately have only three to offer as this nightmare year draws to a close. but this year, i have written, explored, loved and been loved more than ever. the feedback i have received has been so warm, so welcoming, like an embrace that holds you close and doesn’t let you go. i have met some of the most astounding people this year, within and without the fandom, whose talent and kindness are unparalleled. while i am not sad to see 2020 go, i am incredibly fortunate to be one of the few who have the energy to welcome 2021 with open arms and hope for the best. thank you for being the best companions i could have asked for on this journey i have undertaken to understand myself better through the lens of a messy haired boy who wears his heart on his sleeve and a grey-eyed angel who is learning, with me, that being human is painful, gritty work with just enough pay-off to make it all worth it.

Distant, quiet, and timid at first making people thought I'm a demure, modest, and self-effacing that looks "immaculate" or "one of a kind" (due to my protective mom, a reason why I've never been in a relationship) but the truth is, dunno how to initiate a conversation, but a total opposite if I open up---friendly, ambivert, witty, laughing loudly on a daily basis---like my happiness is too shallow, super talkative, eats a lot (yeah I can finish a huge slice of cake or a meal in one sitting), awkward, daydreamer (I got embarrassed from knocking at the door even I'm inside the classroom 😂), EXTREMELY CLUMSY (mostly gets bruises from hitting, bumping my head somewhere, walking into something on my way, and being careless to my belongings), secretly likes affection, easily overwhelmed, prone to melt over wholesomeness, flusters on compliments, lightly blushes on cheesy banters, eager to share what I know (especially about Catholic Church---my past teacher joked that I'll become a saint because of it 🤣), oftenly speaks full of sarcasm with a lowkey crackhead energy citing meme references, and talented girl who can be your no.1 supporter and unashamed to be true to myself but can be awkward to strangers. In terms of leadership, I only educate and guide than being a prefect (I might take the role seriously), will lift my group when there's lacking/incompleteness. About doing projects in school, I become too extra and prepared for efforts, but I'll forget the process in the end.

The extent, I'm expressive, warm-hearted, willig to help, kind, intelligent, supportive, nice, creative, enthusiastic, laid-back, determined, tough, competitive, and feisty outside, but a real softie that can be childish and dramatic that cries so easily (but will enlightened real quick by smallest things that makes me smile) filled with doubts, frustrations, and insecurities with fear of failure that pushes off the limits to to please everyone because they might get dissappointed from expectations---I simply can't stop proving myself too much because I'm a survivor of bullying. But I still managed to be stronger than ever after I stumbled, even it's a slow burn process. I can be blunt, intimidating, harsh, and a douchebag if I receive ends or I got interrupted while doing something. Immature, headstrong, perfectionist, demanding, hesitant, jumpy, forgetful, overthinker, quick-tempered, sensitive, and anxious (no joke, my nervousness makes me think worse scenario will arrive). Though can be procrastinator and arrogant, I raised as a religious 𝖺𝗇𝖽 diplomatic youth, willing to fight what I believe (including my dreams and what's important to me) and what is right. In addition, I have a habit of staying up late and doing sign of the cross to ease nervousness.

Rowdy and feeling-brokenhearted and bitter friend in the group who fangirl a lot, swears like sailor, will call out on people that we loathe, will make fun of your stupidity (in a good way) before helping, and bring gossips, but a hopeless romantic and cheeky (makes banter with sarcasms or pick up lines as an endearment, but gets annoyed if I received sappy or offensive one), Still generous and concerned person in a subtle and different way.

My hobbies are singing, drawing, roleplaying, listening to music, chatting/browsing on social media, conceptualizing, writing, and reading some stuffs. I'll include making corniest jokes/puns, sleeping, and dancing when nobody's around or walking like a model if I feel so bold (even I'm terrible at both xD). I also used to learn Italian language a bit.

Loves kittens, milk tea, singing at the karaoke, cartoons, iced coffee, memes, cute things, watching YouTube videos (mostly pageants, ASMR, edit audios, and mukbangs), also enjoys playing games on my sister's PSP. Sucker for arts, choir, poetry, night sky, makeup, fun/deep/dumb conversations, Christianity, documentaries (about saints, real crime stories, and inspirational people), reading interesting stuffs, talking about social issues, and creative writing, chilling both indoors and outdoors. Beside that, my music taste are like late 90s-2000s songs (mostly rock, pop, and country) sometimes Catholic songs, kpop and ppop, chocoholic, and a sweetooth as well.

𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘𝗦

Things that I hate are stereotyping, HUGE creepy crawlies (spiders, toads, snakes, and cockroaches), firecracker sounds, thunder and lightning, being left out, loneliness, heart break, blackout, and judgemental people. If I found out that someone hates or backstabbing or being rude to me, I won't hesitate to throw offensive criticisms, leaving them with a "I don't give a f" attitude. One random fact about me is, I 𝗐𝗂𝗅𝗅 vent out EVERYTHING I despise in my entire existence---from bad soap operas to toxicity, worse scenarios in real life, and how terrible is my love life from unrequited feelings that I got, because it's a big deal for me, and I consider forcing me to do what I'm not into and manipulating me as my major pet peeves.

𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦

In terms of triggers...I only have two which are ta𝖨king about divorce/annullment/separation because I came from a generational broken family (it sucks that some people I knew assumed that the reason why I'm overly unaware that someone is interested in me in secret, is I have "high standards" looking for a partner, but the truth is I'm strict and I have a personal preferences...I know my worth and I don't want settle for less!) and religion/beliefs discrimination, cause' there are reasonings that doesn't makes sense because some, sounds too hypocritical, like as if you're a morally good person.

𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 + 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗦

My love languages are quality time and gift giving, but I actually swoon over physical touch (especially cuddles and cute kisses) and words of affirmation when it comes to having a partner, though I get attracted so easily, matured but can be a goofy person who's nice, friendly, kind-hearted, loving, faithful, and excels in academics is my cup of tea. Whenever I have a real life crush (which is rare), I act the same but deep inside, my heart is about to explode and will eventually share to my trustful friends how I highly admire that person, however if they spilled the beans out, I'll obviously deny it and will cry if they like someone else, it will take some time for me to move on, now I don't care for them anymore.

Best Friends to Lovers is my ideal trope because I find it very cute since you already knew each other before dating (which happened to my 2nd cousin, she married her best friend!)---perfect balance for romance, laughters, comfort, and tears when it comes to sharing your vibes, being there through thick and thin, safe with embraces, and helping each other to grow.

My best assets are smile, eyes, personality, singing voice, artistic skills, writings, intelligence, oratorical skills and I have potential in hosting...so I can consider myself as a singer, artist, orator, speaker, and a top student who's a former active campus ministry member with three roles (choir leader, psalm singer, and reader).

May sounds different but I'm passionate for helping people through my talents and sharing my story to inspire everyone. I may look selfish, but I have a different way on how I show that I actually care also I have a biased sentimental value

Currently a college freshman, learning how to cook. I have so many interests, to the point I don't know what I'm into because of my dreams to become a popular Filipino YouTuber, a novelist, and being part of a successful chorale competing internationally...I also consider joining pageants at school too once the pandemic ends, but maybe.

HP: Remus!

- Remus is also quiet and a bit reserved when he's not in a familiar situation, so your own first impression on him would be a good one, as you'd seem similar to his own personality. He's sweet and is able to start up a conversation if he notices the other person is having a hard time doing so, so hopefully he'd be able to bring out your more extroverted and friendly self after a while so he can be around the more open you. He wouldn't mind you being a bit awkward-he's very much the same way-honestly, the comradery that would come from that would be more positive than anything else. He loves sharing knowledge and learning about new things, so your eagerness to talk about what you know would work really well also! He does a lot better when he knows someone has his back too, so your extra supportive nature would endear him to you as well.

SW: Han!

- Your nicer and more helpful personality would balance out Han's more standoffish vibes when first meeting. You might get on his nerves a bit first, but you'd quickly grown on him and, in turn, make him a bit of a better person. Your ability to be blunt and a bit harsh would serve you well if you ever needed to stand your ground on an issue that two of you have, as he can be quite stubborn.

VLD: Lance!

- Lance can be a bit immature from time to time as well, especially when it comes to trying to be funny or cheering up those around him-he's also headstrong and typically firm in what he wants to do, so your own determined personality would attract him to you a lot as well. He often puts off things he needs to do if they make him anxious too, but if you both recognize that you share that problem, helping each other might be a good solution!

Disney: Flynn!

- Flynn is quite a sarcastic and teasing person, so your own humor would match well with his. He's also quite a hopeless romantic as well, even though he's certainly not one to admit that right off the bat. He enjoys singing, and as he gets closer to someone he feels more comfortable doing so in front of them, so a partner he's been with for a long time would get to see him be more and more open with it. That also applies to activities like dancing.

NOTE: Not really shipping related, this is just for fun I was idly doing based on tweet that came up on my timeline and people who try it are freak out of how accurate it is; even those who doesn’t really believe about personality traits from zodiac sign. This is the tweet:

So I went to “universal-tao-eproducts” and got what I copy-paste below. The sun signs are taken from their official bday. To get the moon one, you need to put your birth place in Birth Chart. I put Texas as Cloud & Tifa’s birth place for Nibelheim’s reference and the result is crazy accurate for them. I have no idea about Aerith which city in our earth similar to Icicle Inn so I pick the combination of moon sign that describe Aerith the most. As for Zack, since his bday isn’t given by SE (ugh, why?)... so this is the most accurate combination for me to headcanoning his bday^^.

Zack & Aerith’s sun sign is air; the most expressive tribe. Air sign is social butterfly, flirtatious, and they quickly drag you to their life. They are truth-seeker to put their right belief onto before action and curious about many things in the world. You also could see them externally similar as fuck and being happy couple, no need explanation, do you agree? Meanwhile, as the one who has fire element under the sun sign, Cloud has the highest ego and fiery personality upfront. You see how he alienated himself and pick up fights since kid because he thinks he’s the best of everyone. He’s also someone who hardly admit his weakness and prefer to cover it. But his exterior energy matches Zack’s inner self. His desire of what he want to become is what Cloud carries for the rest of his life and put into real action. Like the name, Earth sign, Tifa is the most grounded character and the most stable outside while Zack-Aerith-Cloud are turbulent/chaotic people.

Surprisingly, Aerith-Cloud-Tifa are emotionally similar as they all carry water element as their moon sign: sensitive, depth of feeling, private, empathetic. So they all can be compatible each other to understand feeling while Zack is the most rational one who uses mind more than heart. The difference is... As Pisces, Aerith is the most selfless. As Scorpio, Cloud is the most secretive. As Cancer, Tifa is the most nurturing. Meanwhile, Zack & Tifa has no compatibility, both of their sun and moon sign are all opposites. Story-wise, they also have no interaction other than a week in Nibelheim where Tifa guided Zack to Nibel reactor, texted him about blond SOLDIER, and he felt responsible for the incident happened to her.

(1/8) You're really out there publising new chapters in such a short amount of time and each chapter is better than the last one! I'm seriously in awe of your talent! It's so difficult to pick a favorite chapter but this one might be one of my favorites. First of all, I loved what you did with the chapter title, whiskers literally taking padfoot's place in the order they were named on the map. It was sirius' worst fear and it happened. Also Remus and mc's chemistry is so great. I'm a big fan

I've had so much inspiration and free time this past week! and I'm going to start getting really busy this upcoming fall so I want to try and upload as much as possible!

Their little moment in the halloween party was so great as well, mc (who is dressed up as mcgonagall) drunkly playing with remus' (who is dressed up as FILCH) is probably one of my favorite moments in the sbtmas. Speaking of the costumes, I wish I was a good artist so I could draw

yeah! it's always a struggle to write two different dynamics when it comes to a love triangle because you don't want it to be:

a) the same

b) have it be unfair (although rn it's kinda unfair but hey, sirius will have a chance)

c) please both remus and Sirius stans (its been hard bc sirius stans are so mad with me rn LMFAO its kinda hilarious. I'm sorryyyyy! I SAID SLOWBURN DIDNT I? I WASNT LYING)

and oh my gosh - this chapter was literally so fucking fun to write and I think that really showed in my writing this time. the map - omg - since it's technically remus' magic for his little messages, the map is unable to insult her and I think it's just so cute :)

and I think dressing up as the professors would be so fucking cool! actually, fun fact - this idea was originally supposed to be for fifth year. Sirius was supposed to be McGonagall and MC was still supposed to be a cat but I obviously flipped shit around. for seventh year - I've had their costumes all picked since I started writing and I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT TO WRITE IT MY GOD

(3/8) a fanart of them. Lily as a 20s flapper, marlene as carrie, dorcas as dorothy (it's official, dorcas is the cutest person in this entire series) and sybill as the crazy cat lady (hands down best costume)! And of course marauders as teachers. Remus as filch was son unexpected yet brilliant! I almost died when marlene started flirting with mc for a grade and james called her hot (and also mcgonagall took a photo with her, minnie and marauders era students is always so fun to read about. (4/8) you imagine her keeping all of those memories in a box and looking at them after most of her students from that time period die in the war.) Peter had some really good costume ideas after all. But honestly, thank you for... giving peter a personality. In most fics he's just there, only eating in the background (similar to movie!ron). But in sbtmas he's so great and has a great sense of humor (he got his hands on a pen and chose to write "evans' bitch on james' face, an icon). I feel like

okay, that hurt my feelings. I can just picture McGonagall getting teary eyed as she stares at a picture of the Marauders after the second wizarding war, wishing she could have saved her students.

(5/8) this is going to make his betrayal so much better when it eventually happens. I mean, I was genuinely disturbed when james started to talk about how sneaky he was (famous last words). I loved all of the pranks they did in this chapter as well. The exorcist music and ballpoint pens were so creative (and they gave us that adorable scene with dorcas and nifflers) and also... funny. I feel like in a way, it showed how much marauders learned from "The Prank" and matured because of it. Last year

Peter was a marauder through and through. he was just as sneaky as the others, brimming with personality and just as smart. maybe not in academics, but the fucker had strengths in other areas. It was such a pet peeve of mine when they didn't include him in the fics I used to read. idk, sbtmas is everything I guess I wanted in a fic that I didn't get 💀 (I sound a bit egotistical here. If it comes off that way, I don’t mean it to)

(6/8) their halloween prank with spiders was a bit cruel. But this time, it's somethig that would make everyone laugh and maybe a bit annoyed, but still less harmless. Everything was funny and great and honestly, while I was reading this I was laughing the entire time... until I got to the "five years" part! Now that was cruel! You really did used costumes and pranks as a distraction and hit us with the angst! One second I was laughing and the next moment I was having an existential

(7/8) how we have no idea about what future will bring and you can never know how much time you will have with your loved ones before it's all taken away from you. But I guess that's the appeal of the marauders era, we all know about the tragic ending they will have but still want to learn about their hogwarts years. And of course the song you chose perfectly captured that. It's halloween 1976, exactly five years before lily and james' death. And they have no idea about how they only have five

(8/8) years together. James and lily was laughing along with peter! There was something so beautiful yet disturbing about the innocence they have and you captured it beautifully. I can imagine sirius, sitting by himself somewhere, thinking about how he lost his friends and not having any idea about the tragic things that'll happen to him (or how he'll try to break into hogwarts on halloween 1993 to kill one of his friends). Okay now I made myself even sadder, I'll just shut up. -🌸

I obviously didn't add him in this chapter but while writing, I imagine him to be in Padfoot form, silently watching the fireworks. just thinking. :((((( I just made myself sad again :( I think I even wrote a small blurb of that part but I can’t remember if I deleted it. I've been drowning in uni work for the past days so I've been offline until now and daaaaaaaamnnnnnnn. This totally deserves to be questioned and criticized. We can't treat famous rich people like they can only be gods or devils because there's a lot of ground in between and no one is perfect, but especially it's wrong to blindly defend these people when their actions usually have a strong impact on the cultural trends that arise in societies. This objectively looks like white rich people riding off their privilege. Lots of extremely talented people work hard for years to even get a record label contract and then work even more to even score a Grammy nomination, let alone an AOTY win. So even if you're a talented instrumentalist and songwriter/lyricist, it's just not fair to go from "doesn't have any producing/songwriting credit history, unknown in the music industry, and has never worked on a record" to "AOTY Grammy winner". There's so many levels between those two stages and people actually work very hard to expand their musical/writing abilities and the cultural impact of their work in order to get recognition from the Recording Academy, which is the highest most valuable form of recognition a musical artist can get. People are supposed to earn this type of honor through hard work and talent, not because they live with a very succesful and recognized artist and therefore have easy access to jump all the levels and contribute to their record.

Like don't get me wrong. Joe obviously has musical formation and is skilled as an instrumentalist, that's just a fact. They were in quarantine in the same house and there were instruments (we know he plays music for fun), one day he sat at the piano and came up with a fun chorus for a song, Taylor was there and got inspired to write a song based on what she heard. Does he deserve credit for this creative contribution? Yes fair enough, he came up with the lyrics and the music. Then one other day he came up with a cool low melody on the piano, Taylor was there, got inspired to write lyrics over that and so Exile came to be. Does he deserve credit for that too? Yeah fair enough he came up with the melody. I believe her completely on this because unlike some "fans" I refuse to think she would lie about someone writing in a song, even if it's just one line.

Did he contribute significantly to the production of the album? That's definitely a possibility, he's artistic, he was there, and he even wrote on these songs. I'm not saying that didn't happen. But formally being credited for this several months after the album came out and after said album won a Grammy? And being credited only on enough to be elligible for a trophy, after it is known that said album won? Not fair or cool.

Maybe he really did contribute that much to the album (that's what the Academy's website is saying 🤷🏻‍♀️), but they both knew everyone would question this if they made it public bc there's no way it doesn't look nepotistic and that would negatively affect their campaign to win awards bc ppl would only focus on that. WB was credited on just 2 songs and ppl made it all about that🙄They didn't want this body of music and art to be overdshadowed by Taylor Swift's boyfriend being a part of it, which I kinda get bc ppl love to hate on her and discredit her and I do think her and Aaron wanted this to be about the art. And if they didn't win anything, they would've suffered that dragging (which tbh would've been a fucking NIGHTMARE) for nothing. So they "hid" his credit to avoid this being an isssue and decided he would only get the credit after the Grammys were over, so as to not draw attention to it. Well, hiding information is still dishonest and low-key unethical Taylor. I would love an explanation and even if it's the one I gave above, I would would like producer Joe to elaborate on his contributions. Unless the fucking Grammy trophy was actually a gift to him like some of you are suggesting, which would reduce this whole situation to absolutely pathetic and embarrasing. Her doing this sneaky shit for him just bc she loves him is the most dissapointing possible scenario to me. So I really hope he produced on this album as much as they're claiming he did.

What shocks me the most is how tf did the Recording Academy agree with this?!?!?! Like did she make some sort of deal with them where they knew Joe was submitted as a producer but they didn't show this information? Did she give them solid proof that he really did so much for this album and they agreed to give him the credit after the Grammys? Maybe these rich people eventually drown so deeply in their privileges that morality fades to the background. I don't speak their language, maybe this type of nepotism is normalized and aceptable to them. Dissapointing but unsurprising I guess. Maybe Taylor is a much shittier person than I thought and after this I do think it's possible that she's been consciously queer baiting to profit from a marginalized community. I really hope I'm wrong tho and I really hope Joe really worked his ass off on this album coz ewww otherwise.

It’s For My Art

Synopsis: An idea pops into Kevin’s mind, so demanding he can’t seem to shake it off. What happens when the words fly past his lips?

A/N: This work was so hard to get right… I really hope I did it justice in the end. I’ve experimented with a new pov in this, I hope you like the change! Enjoy~

Kevin was content with looking at you from afar. He leaned against the wall as Chanhee blabbered on to him and Jacob about one thing or the other. The loud music rang in his ears, in combination with the liquor in his cup. The smell of cigarettes and sweat filled the air and Kevin did his best to brush it off.

He stole glances at you, trying to be sneaky and not stare too hard. You were sitting on the couch with some of your friends, giggling back and forth. Kevin hated the fact that you turned to your friend so much, showing him the view of your strong shoulders and back.

The spaghetti sleeves of your dress did little to conceal your back, topped off with your hair tied in a high ponytail… It was enough to drive him wild. He nodded then and again, pretending to listen to his friend’s conversation as his thoughts became hazy.

Kevin was an art major. Since he was little, his hands were filled with colour as he dug his little hands in whatever paint supplies he could find. Slowly but surely he cultivated his talent, which managed to grant him a position at one of the most prestigious universities in the country.

As an artist, it was easy for him to find beauty in everything. The most mundane things sparked his interest and his inspiration derived from almost anything, to some spilled coffee on his kitchen counter, to the myriad of colours in a sunset.

He recalled now seeing you for the first time only a week ago, in the grass outside the main building on your campus. Contrary to popular belief, almost no one sat on the grass at your campus, and yet there you were, lying on your stomach, feet up in the air, your nose buried inside a book and earplugs hanging from your ears.

You were just perfect. Kevin had been looking for someone just like you, broad shoulders and back for the longest time for one of his long-term projects. He had tried some of his friends, but until then, it had taken too much convincing and too feeble a result for him to be satisfied.

The past week, he couldn’t take you off his mind. The anonymous girl from uni, whose broad shoulders made his inspiration run wild. And now that you were standing only a few feet away from him, his mind was hazy with thoughts of you.

“I’m getting another drink” he announced to his friends, earning an eager nod from Jacob.

As he made his way to the kitchen, he scoured the rows of different bottles for something he recognized. His eyes landed upon a brand of tequila he knew he liked, so he reached for it. At that moment, another hand made its way on top of the bottle, holding a tight grip on the neck.

Kevin’s eyes made yours across the kitchen island, making him gasp. You giggled at his unexpected reaction, cocking your head to one side in confusion.

“Want one?” you asked him.

“Yes” he simply answered, nodding his head for good measure.

“Strong or easy? Can you handle your alcohol, sweetie?” you asked him again.

“Sure” he answered as you poured both your drinks.

“Ask her, you idiot” his brain was screaming at him. Yet he remained silent, accepting the cup you offered him while muttering a small thank you.

“No problem, sweetie. Have fun!” you encouraged him, before turning right on your heels and walking out.

“Fucking hell” he muttered to himself as he assumed his place with Jacob and Chanhee.

Only this time, your eyes were on him. The encouraging smile on your lips made him shuffle in his spot, trying to weasel himself back in his friends’ conversation and ignore your stare.

Some rounds of shots later, Kevin could definitely feel the effect of the alcohol running in his veins.

“I’m just going to ask. She can always say no. It’s no big deal. I’ll just re-take the damn class” he was telling his friends.

“Do you really think this is the time and place to ask her? She could say no just because she gets the wrong idea. Why don’t you-” Chanhee was trying to reason with him, when Kevin caught you making your way to the kitchen.

“I’m doing it now. Wish me luck” he said over his shoulder, already walking towards the kitchen.

A few shoves and a shower of sorry’s later, he was standing near you once again. After a deep breath, he mustered up the courage to lightly poke you and introduce himself. You turned around, your eyes shining in recognition once they fell on him.

“Hi, sweetie” you told him.

“Hi, I’m Kevin” he announced.

You giggled, nodding your head.

“Do you want me to fix you another drink, Kevin?” You asked.

“No, thank you” he replied.

“Well then, I’ll be going” you said, moving past him.

Kevin acted quickly, afraid that he was going to lose you.

“Can I paint your back?” the words flew past his lips before he knew it.

You turned around, a curious look on your face when you regarded him. At least it wasn’t horrified or disgusted.

“What?” you asked, your voice getting a little bit high pitched.

“It’s not a weird thing I promise! I- I’m an art major and we’re doing this project were we have to paint something on anything but a canvas and I was trying out painting on people’s backs and I think yours would work perfect with my theme so I thought, hey, she’ll either think I’m a fucking weirdo or she’ll like the idea and help me with a fun project” Kevin rambled, the words flowing out of him in a hurry to make you understand.

You stayed quiet, looking at him and he only hoped you were considering his proposal.

“A project. And you want to paint… On my back?” you ask, your head falling on one side.

“Yes.” Kevin was quick to answer you.

You took a few more moments to think, before you started shaking your head. Kevin’s face fell as he felt the rejection approaching. His mind was racing, trying to figure out a way to get to you.

“Look, Kevin, was it? I’m too drunk for this right now. Let me… Think about it after my hangover.” You proposed.

“Yes! Yes, take all the time you need, of course” Kevin was quick to comply.

You reached inside the pocket of your jeans, retrieving your cell phone and handing it to him.

“Put your phone in there. Imma text you” you said and Kevin did as he was told.

“‘Weird back guy’? Wow, you hardly give yourself enough credit” you joked.

“Well, I thought that Kevin would be a little too vague. Maybe ‘Weird back guy’ is going to ring a bell” he said with a light laugh.

You laughed along with him as you both walked back out to the living room.

“You’re decent… For a weird back guy I met at a party.” You said.

“I’ll take it as a compliment. Just text me whenever, okay?” he asked.

“Sure thing, sweetie” you said, rejoining your friends.

Days flowed by as classes and life managed to distract Kevin from longingly looking at his phone. He was sat on his desk, an array of materials and pieces of paper surrounding him, classical music flowing through his speaker to keep him focused as his hands worked ceaselessly.

Projects were piling up and he had to get his portfolio ready for the professors to look through. In a streak of creativity, he was pouring out piece after piece, not bothering to inspect them for mistakes, only rushing to work on the next one.

The dinging of his phone pulled him out of his trance. He completed some finishing touches to his drawing, before cleaning his hands and reaching for his phone.

Hey Kevin! It’s Y/N, you know, from the party?

Kevin’s heart danced in his chest as he read the message. Finally, you had texted him! Pushing his thoughts on the back of his mind, he texted you back.

Kevin’s phone

Of course I remember you! I’m so glad you reached out, and finally I know your name haha

Y/N

Omg that’s so embarrassing I never introduced myself-

Sorry about that, I guess I was too out of it lol

Kevin’s phone

Don’t sweat it, I’m just glad you reached out at all

So about that… I did some thinking and then I grew tired of doing it so now I’m saying fuck it

Kevin almost screamed in delight reading the last text. A smile spread on his face as his thoughts were swarmed with things he could draw. Inspiration flowed like a river, drowning his thoughts and making his head ache. He felt jittery, his leg bouncing up and down with excitement.

Realizing he still hadn’t answered your text, his fingers worked fast on the keyboard.

Kevin’s phone

That’s amazing to hear! I’m so glad you’ll help, I was so ready to just drop everything and hide

Y/N

I’m glad I’m doing this too! It’s going to be fun, right?

Kevin’s phone

Most definitely! I’ll try not to bore you out of your mind lol

When are you free? We can do this in my place since I have all my supplies and whatnot

Y/N

Sure thing! Um, I’m free all afternoon Thursday, is that okay?

After figuring out a few technical things, like the exact time and giving you directions to his dorm room, Kevin threw his phone on his bed. Giddy with excitement he bounced on his chair as he went through his supplies, making sure he had all the colours he needed.

This is really happening, huh, he thought to himself as the smile on his lips didn’t seem to falter.

Thursday afternoon came along sooner than Kevin would have liked. He did everything in his power to clean his dorm room, efficiently kicking Jacob out to give you both some privacy.

Right on time, a knock on his door alerted Kevin of your arrival. He took a deep breath, trying to compose himself as he opened the door for you. You smiled at him and greeted him politely. Kevin was torn between hugging you and merely sharking your hand, when you stepped forward, wrapping your hands around his torso and letting yourself in.

You leisurely sat down on his bed as if you owned the place, striking up a pleasant conversation with him. After talking to you for a while, he decided to finally take the initiative.

“If you don’t mind, I think we should get started soon or I’ll lose all the natural light” he told you.

Your eyes widened for a mere second, so fast he almost missed it. You quickly composed yourself, not saying anything, only nodding at his request.

“I’m going to go to the bathroom, leave you some time to change. Call for me when you’re ready, okay?” he asked.

“Okay” you said, but from the tone of your voice he could tell you’re your demeanor was slowly changing.

“Hey, Y/N, at any point you want me to stop, just say the word. It’s okay, I promise. There’s no point in doing this if you don’t want to.” He tried to reassure you.

A small smile made its way to your lips as you whispered a thank you. Kevin only nodded, getting in the bathroom and closing the door behind him. He closed his eyes, resting his head on the door as a million pictures rushed behind his eyelids.

A certain picture kept resurfacing, a cloudy night sky, with some stars still shining through. He knew that was what he was going to be painting today. He only prayed that it would be good enough for his professor.

“I’m ready now” your voice called from the other room.

Kevin made straight for his painting supplies, his hands itching to prepare the colours he needed. From the corner of his eye, he saw you lying down on his bed, your top laying neatly folded a few inches away from your head.

“Do you need another pillow? Are you comfortable enough?” he asked.

“I think I’m okay. I just don’t know what to do with my hands” you said with a laugh.

“Don’t worry about it, just try not to fold them if that’s okay” he requested.

A nod came from you as Kevin finished preparing his colours. The atmosphere was tense as he took a stool to sit next to you, hovering over your body.

“So… Music?” he asked

“What about it?” you asked him in return.

“Do you want to play some? I think I’d bore you too much with the classical music I use when I paint” he said.

“Okay… Well, there’s been one album I’ve been dying to listen to” you said and Kevin hummed.

He showed you how to connect your phone to the speaker and was very surprised when you played one of his favourite band’s new album.

“That’s literally one of my favourite bands” he confessed.

“Really? That’s so awesome! I only discovered them a few years ago… They’re too good” you said.

“They really are” Kevin admitted.

He timidly placed his brush on your body, making you shiver. He chuckled at your reaction, while you let out an awkward laugh.

“Probably should’ve said something. Sorry” he apologized.

“It’s okay” you mumbled.

“So, how did you get to know them again?” he asked you.

The conversation flowed easily from there on as you seemed to relax more and more under his fingers. He worked while you two talked, allowing his mind to roam free as his hands moved almost without him noticing.

Sometime later, the album had finished playing and a calm silence had overtaken the room. Kevin’s eyebrows were scrunched together as he placed the finishing touches on his work. Taking a step back he admired his work, until his eyes fell on your face.

You had fallen asleep somewhere in between, your mouth now hanging open as you breathed evenly. Kevin smiled lightly, as he shook his head. He really had bored you to sleep.

Taking his camera, he stood on top of your body to take some pictures of the painting on your back. However, his attention was brought to your soft features, your arm hanging down from the bed, palm outstretched, the shapes your hair outlined as they danced over the pillow, the lines of your nose and mouth.

The clicking of his camera came and went and he could already imagine the way he could edit those later. He tried not to show your features too much, careful not to give away your identity, although he could tell he could hardly show these pictures to anyone but you.

Putting his camera back in its case, a sigh escaped his lips. He looked back in all he had learned about you today. You were studying to be a special needs teacher, hoping to help children through your work. You had scored a scholarship through swimming, explaining your broad shoulders and strong back. You lived out of campus in a small apartment with your best friend. Your friends were real fun to be around and you loved hanging out with them, but sometimes you found that they were moving too fast for you.

You liked a lot of the same bands and pretty much listened to the same music. You hanged out at your apartment most of the time, savoring the peace and quiet and opting out from clubs, finding that house parties, quite like the one you met at, were more your style. You favored books over movies and absolutely despised modern art. You also hated poetry, one of your professors and mint chocolate ice cream.

He realized then, he had gotten so much information just from talking to you on and off as he worked. He couldn’t even imagine how sitting down to actually talk to you would be.

At that moment, Kevin realized he really wanted to see you again, to get to know you better and he would make sure that would happen.

He sat in the corner of his bed, placing a hand on your shoulder and shaking you gently. He called your name, but you didn’t seem to stir. Without thinking much of it, he run his hand through your hair in a soothing manner and tried calling your name again.

This time, you did stir, your eyes opening with effort. A small groan escaped you as Kevin continued running his fingers through your hair. He smiled down at you, not even bothering to hide it.

“Sorry to wake you, I just thought you might have to leave or something” he told you.

You stirred, turning to lay on your back and Kevin immediately looked away from your topless form. From the corner of his eye he saw you rubbing your eyes sleepily, humming as an answer to his words.

“I don’t have anything to do actually, I cleared my afternoon just for you” you said with a laugh.

“Oh, I’m honored” he told you, eyes still stuck on the opposite wall.

“Kevin” you called him, sitting up.

“Yeah?” he asked.

Your hand was on his chin, your touch so light it felt like he almost dreamt it.

“I want you to look at me” you whispered, turning his head for your eyes to lock.

His eyes landed on yours and he was shocked to find you looking at him with hooded eyes. His gaze fell to your lips and felt himself take in a sharp breath.

“I am looking at you” he said, his eyes finding yours again.

Like magnets, you moved at the same time, finding each other somewhere in between the distance that was separating you. Your lips found each other in an experimental and passionate kiss, as Kevin’s hands buried themselves in your hair.

Leaving your lips, he peppered kisses all across your face, before moving to your jaw and neck. Not yet satisfied, his lips found yours again, as the kiss only deepened.

Breaking away, you moved backwards a bit, tracing his cheek with your hand. He tried reading your eyes and he could clearly see that you were thinking about something, although he wasn’t sure what.

“What is it?” he asked you in a whisper.

“Nothing. I’m just glad I came” you told him with a smile, placing a small peck on his nose.

Without giving him a chance to say anything in return, you get up from his bed, getting your things and disappearing in his bathroom. Kevin hears the shower being turned on, which snaps him back into reality.

As he finishes packing up his supplies and the spare sheet he had used for you to lay on, now filled with colour, you emerge from the bathroom.

“Hey” you greet him with a smile.

“Hey” he says as he smiles back at you.

“So I’m craving some Chinese food. Care to join?” you ask him.

The smile on Kevin’s face only grows as he gets on his feet, walking up to you. He holds your hand in his before saying,

“What are we waiting for?”

Despite complaints about “cancel culture” and racist insistence that people who talk about these important issues are “playing the race card,” Hollywood can’t seem to get away from conversations about race and diversity.

And while hopefully those discussions can lead to progress, lately they have led to controversy for some.

Osbourne said she didn’t necessarily agree with Morgan’s comments, but defended his right to make them. She herself was accused of being less than respectful when she berated Underwood for appearing to get emotional and insisted that if anyone should be crying over the conversation, it should be Osbourne herself.

Her perceived “victimhood” not only didn’t go over well, but the incident led to both an apology from Osbourne and an investigation by CBS into happenings on the set of “The Talk.”

Chris Harrison: “The Bachelor” franchise and its issues with race have long been discussed.

From its lack of diversity to last year’s outrage over “Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown using a racial epithet while jamming to a song, it’s safe to say the reality show has generated some headlines on matters of race.

But things came to a head this season after the casting of the first Black “Bachelor,” Matt James.

Longtime franchise host Chris Harrison has had to step aside from his duties after controversial comments he made during an interview with Rachel Lindsay, the first Black “Bachelorette,” who has been working for the TV show “Extra.”

During the chat, Harrison appeared to defend contestant Rachael Kirkconnell for being photographed at an antebellum plantation-themed fraternity formal event in 2018.

Harrison apologized, and James ended up giving Kirkconnell the final rose but then broke up with her over the controversy.

Billie Eilish: This instance was not so much an apology aired but rather yet another time a White artist has felt compelled to acknowledge a Black artist when an institution — in this case, the Grammys — did not.

Last Sunday, Eilish took home the final award of the evening, the prestigious record of the year, and used her acceptance speech to explain why rapper Megan Thee Stallion, one of her fellow nominees, really deserved it.

“You are so beautiful, you are so talented,” Eilish said. “I root for you always. You deserve it, honestly.”

If the moment felt familiar, it was because we had seen it happen before.

Adele tearfully gushed about Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” album deserving to win album of the year in 2017, instead of her album “25.”

Three years before, White rapper Macklemore apologized to rapper Kendrick Lamar for winning rap album of the year instead of the Black artist.

Race and identity politics can be complicated, but what’s not hard to understand is that these incidents happen because disparities and a far-from-level playing field absolutely exist in this world and in Hollywood.

Until that changes, someone is going to end up feeling sorry for it, or at the very least need to acknowledge it publicly.

‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

Calling all superhero geeks.

The time is now to finally see how the Justice League film fared in the hands of Zack Snyder, thanks to the release of this extended director’s cut. Joss Whedon had stepped in to complete the 2017 film after Snyder left the project due to personal tragedy.

“The result of this fresh take, strictly from a creative and filmmaking standpoint, is fascinating: How did two different directors — Whedon, who birthed the ‘Avengers’ franchise on screen; and Snyder, who tackled adapting the famously unadaptable ‘Watchmen’ — approach the same material?” is how my Appradab colleague Brian Lowry described the project.

The movie premieres Thursday on HBO Max (which is owned by Appradab’s parent company).

‘Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal’

Ripped from the headlines, as they say, this film uses re-enactments to tell the story of the college admissions scandal that landed several wealthy parents — including celebs Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman — in legal trouble.

The story dominated the news for months, and now you can relive it all by heading over to Netflix, where it’s currently streaming.

‘Minari’

Now that the Oscar nominations are out, you may want to check out some of the nominees.

“Minari” is up for six categories, including best picture. The drama draws on director Lee Issac Chung’s childhood to tell the tale of a Korean American family trying to survive in rural Arkansas in the 1980s.

The film is currently available to stream on several services including Apple TV and Amazon Prime.

Justin Bieber recently told Billboard there is a message behind his new music.

“I just want to be somebody who can say, ‘Look, I did some things that I’m not too proud of, but I took a look in the mirror and decided to make some changes, and you can too,” he told the publication. “There was a time where I really did have my identity wrapped up in my career, but I really do have an overflow of feeling like my purpose is to use my music to inspire.”

His sixth studio album, “Justice,” drops Friday and is Bieber’s second album release in 13 months. (“Changes” came out on Valentine’s Day 2020.)

With marriage to model Hailey Bieber and more private time — thanks to quarantining and no cellphone to limit who can get a hold of him — the now 27-year-old former teen idol appears to be at a new stage in his life and career.

Last year, Lana Del Rey announced she would be delaying her new album, “Chemtrails Over the Country Club,” for a few months.

Now, we get to see if it was worth the wait.

The studio album from the singer is the much-anticipated follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2019 collection, “Norman F**king Rockwell,” and expectations are high that she will continue to deliver her special brand of artistry when it drops Friday.

One thing to talk about:

It’s not breaking news that award shows and their voters appear to be out of step with the general public.

But this year’s best supporting actor category for the Oscars is even more confounding.

That’s because the two stars of “Judas and the Black Messiah,” Lakeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya, are both nominated in the category.

Which begs the question: “Which one is the actual star of the film if neither scored a best actor nod?”

I reached out to the Academy about this and a rep declined to comment. So we’ll just have to be content with the fact that the two won’t have to compete with the late Chadwick Boseman, a best actor nominee who is favored by many for what is believed to be his final on-screen performance in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”

Hi Alex! How much of the instrumentation was figured out before heading into the studio? Did you just bring in bare minimum demos and then fleshed them out in the studio? Or did you have most of it prepared and just recorded it? I really loved the album by the way!

Thank you! It was different for each track. A lot of the songs I had full fleshed demos that my band and I had recorded in Portland, and Sam Cohen and I worked around those. Some of the tracks like "But You" I had some Garage band demos I made on my own that we worked around, and some of the tracks like "Soft Currents" were just raw iPhone recordings of me playing and singing, and Sam and I worked out together in the studio.

Your music has some really interesting chord progressions and melodic phrases. To what extent do you consciously apply music theory to your songwriting, and how much just comes naturally from ear and instinct?

To no extent :/ I am not super skilled in music theory, I just play around until it seems like it makes sense to me

You described your desire for Belladonna of Sadness to sound "murderous", and I thought that darkness and dangerous feeling really shone through. What adjectives would you powerfully ascribe to your sophomore album? What tonal differences were important to you while recording?

I like this question! hmmmmmm. “honest"

I'm pretty new to your music, but, everyday I can't stop myself from liking it more. My two current favorite songs are “The Phantom” and “Bad Disease”. I've seen that many people prefer other songs from the album, so that made me think. What is your personal favorite song from your new album? Thanks!

I've seen a few people comparing your latest work with Lana del Rey's. Do you listen to her? Was she really an inspiration for the record?

I like Lana she's talented, I understand the comparison in some ways , people tend to compare things naturally. But, no she wasn't my personal inspiration in any conscious way

Did you make a conscious effort to distance yourself from the sound of Belladonna of Sadness with this new album?

No, I have gotten mixed feedback some people say its the exact same sound, some say it is different, I just created what came naturally to me and used sounds that I am personally drawn to.

If you were to try to make someone a fan of your music, but could only show them three of your songs, what songs would you show them?

oooooh! hmmmmm. “But You”, “Audeline”, “Crying All The Time”.

Excuse me Ms. Savior - I fell in love with your duet "We're Just Making It Worse" many moons ago. What can you tell us about that song?

Thanks! Well my homie Cameron Avery wrote that tune, he just asked me to sing on it and I was glad to!

What do you think was the biggest difference between writing The Archer and Belladonna of Sadness?

Can you talk about the differences in recording your first album while signed to a major label and this album while signed to a indie label? I know you’ve spoken about why you left Columbia, but I was wondering how your personal process differed this time around, especially with different resources and personnel?

Yeah it was a lot less pressure making this record, I had more say and more freedom of expression.

You said in an interview that you wrote the songs for The Archer on piano or guitar and brought them to the studio recorded on your phone. Would you ever consider releasing these as bonus tracks?

I might ya! They’re probably a lot less interesting than you think

Do you have any tips on how to overcome writers block/find new ways to approach writing ? I've been struggling a bit lately... Have you been reading lately? If so, what books would you recommend ? :)

Just be kind to yourself, do what is natural, don't beat yourself up. I just re-read "My Year of Rest and Relaxation" by Otessa Moshfegh, now I am ready " Conversations With Friends" by Sally Rooney. I would recommend any Joan Didion, also I enjoy Salingers "Nine Stories"

This album feels a lot more personal than the first one. How would you say it compares in relation to how you expressed yourself as an artist?

I was very insecure while writing my first record, and I was co-writing so I used a lot of techniques to shelter my own opinions and feelings, in The Archer it was just me, so it was more of a journal entry than a big fancy record

Which artists did you grow up admiring, and inspired your style? Also, do you have any poetry recommendations, seeing how all your lyrics are poems in their own right?

hmmmm. ok Hilary Duff, Elvis, The White Stripes, Billie Holiday. Poetry: I don’t read much poetry but I like Rimbaud and Sylvia Plath

How did you feel when you found out “Risk” played on True Detective?

I cried

On Belladonna, what inspired the lyrics and melody for “Till You're Mine”? That song is always on repeat in my household.

Thanks! I would say my own insecurities and jealousy towards a specific woman in my life

Do you write the melodies as well as the lyrics or is it a collaborative effort?

For this record I wrote the melodies, lyrics, and chords for every song aside from "The Phantom" which was a collaboration with Sam Cohen.

What inspired you to make this new album?

I just make songs, and each song was inspired by something different, but mostly I needed to show people I WRITE MY SONGS

Do you have plans to sell more merch? I would really love to get my hands on signed stuff or one of your drawings/crafts.

As a budding songwriter and musician myself is there any advice or wisdom you could pass on when it comes to making a career out of it?

I think writing as much as you can and trying to write honestly is important. I was lucky in a strange string of events that started my career, and every dream is different, but I suppose just keep writing and releasing your songs wherever you can

Often when I listen to music I tend to relate the song to places I've been to or places I'm at while listening. Is it the same for you when you write your songs? Do you think about a specific place for each song?

Yeah totally!

Would you ever be interested in collaborating with another artist on their record?

Yeah! Depends on who, I have always wanted to sing on a rap song.

Well, sometimes it is hard to move on and write more, with so much time between the final touches of the record and the actual release.... But, it ebs and flows and its out now so its no difference to me now

How much was growing up in Portland an influence on your music?

I would say the rain had a lot to do with my melancholy, but also the music scene in Portland has always been very DIY and rock-based so “ guess that influenced me in some way.

Spotlight - Olivia Lunny

It's time for some new music and today our Spotlight - Olivia Lunny. Hailing from Winnipeg Manitoba, Olivia is coming off a win on season 2 of The Launch. We were excited to spend some time talking about her love of music and the new release of Think of Me out now!

You come from a quite creative family, your brother and manager Christian is the CEO and co-founder of several impressive companies. Have you 2 always been competitive with each other? Supportive? What was it like growing up in a household with 2 incredibly passionate and creative types? My brother and I have always been each other's biggest cheerleaders. Growing up and witnessing his success was incredibly motivating and led me to the mindset that anything is possible if you practice patience and hard work. We definitely feed off of each other's energy and passion- that being said, we both have very strong personality types so we have our fair share of debates and challenge each other's ideas often. I definitely feel blessed we get to work as a team. Since he’s come on board as management we’ve really taken things to the next level. I’m really looking forward to what we can accomplish in the years ahead as a team/sibling duo. You are very passionate about Winnipeg, your home town, boosting it up, but with travelling around the country, do you still think you guys have the best poutine? Favorite place in Canada you’ve played so far (other than hometown faves)? Where’s somewhere you want to play here in Canada? Winnipeg will always have my heart! Our poutine however was one-upped when I tried the poutine of ALL poutine’s last summer in Quebec City (at FEQ)! (Winnipeg remains a close second...) I had the chance to play In PEI at the Cavendish festival last summer and that was a huge highlight. Such a dreamy place. Future wise, I would love to hit the West Coast and play in Vancouver someday soon! Who is your biggest music inspiration and why? I always find this question so difficult to answer. Over the years I’ve been exposed to so much different music. Because of this, my inspiration has come from a collective group of artists. Coldplay will always however be one of my first and present favourite bands. (I admire their authenticity and identity in their sound!) The video for Blacklight, super cool, great song, talk us through the inspiration for that. After being on The Launch were you a bit more comfortable with the creative process in the video. Thank you!! Blacklight was the first music video/shoot I had ever been a part of. Through being on the launch, I really evolved both as a person and artist. I feel that Blacklight was the first project “post launch” where I got to explore another side to my artistry. The video itself represents how people run from their insecurities. In the case of the video, “insecurities” are shown as people lurking in the shadows. This video was so fun to shoot and the director Haille Tut is such a talented up and coming fellow female creative. What is the best advice you've been given so far? Be patient & the only person you’re competing against is yourself. I find it so easy to get distracted and start comparing goals to others etc. irony is, when you can stay disciplined and zoom into your own goals/ life- that’s when you will become the happiest and most successful. Big year for you, winning CTV’s the Launch, must’ve been pretty wild, walk us through what that was like, how it felt to win. 2019 was a very surreal and crazy ride- I went on The Launch with absolutely no expectations. I was the most excited to simply have my music heard by such a large television audience. Winning opened up a whole new chapter for me and I’m forever grateful for my time on the launch because of that. Receiving validation from industry moguls was 100% the reassurance I didn’t know I needed. This really helped me gain some confidence on the writing side of things and at the same time was incredibly humbling. The music industry is a wild place, every artist's journey is so individually unique, and I feel blessed that this opportunity has become a big part of my story and stepping stone so early on in my career. What was the experience like working with Scott Borchetta? Scott is such a kind and passionate human being. I really felt supported and respected working with him. He also has a great ear for music so receiving positive feedback from him was amazing. You received a lot of praise from Jann Arden specifically, what’s it like having a Canadian icon gush over you so blatantly? The “gush” was 110% reciprocal! Jann is so talented and an iconic Canadian. Hearing her speak the way she did about my music was a surreal and special moment. I will always hold that moment in my heart. What was the process like writing with Tyler Shaw for the new single Think Of Me? Tyler is one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve met. I found the writing process with him very easy and organic. I think our styles of music blend really nicely, so collaborating has been really fun. What is the story you are trying to tell with your music? What’s the story behind Think Of Me? I almost always draw inspiration from personal experiences (whether I’m aware of that or not). The narrative in my songs explore the different perspectives and sides to experiencing love. Think of Me is a post break up anthem with a nostalgic feel. I had gone through a recent break up, Tyler had a concept and melody idea, 3 hours later the song was born! With the new release is there any plans for shows and or tours coming up? Yes- I hope so! The world’s chaotic right now though so I think the most important thing we can do is stay home and enjoy music digitally Finally what would you like to tell your fans?
