So uhhh i wrote something for the AU

You can count this as like a little bonus story or something I guess

He hadn't been down here for long. By his standards, at least. It was lonely down here, but it was better than being in the queen's presence.

Dero aimlessly swung his sword from side to side, his many eyes shifting through the empty cells. It was funny, how no one got sent here. One would think that a tyrannical queen would have cells upon cells of undeserving victims awaiting judgement. But the queen seemed to always have something special in mind, some unique form of eternal torture that could not be carried out in the jail. An endless maze of mirrors. An everlasting tea party. So the jail remained empty. Except for Dero.

The kingdom was going to shatter soon, and Dero knew it. He thought it ironic that he was there when it was founded, and that he was probably going to be there when it fell. He wondered if he would be able to live through that, too. He hoped not.

Why was he even still here? He hated the queen. Was the one before her any better? He couldn't remember. All of Wonderland's rulers had started to blur together for him. All except for one. He still remembered the first queen. He still remembered her face.

She had the most beautiful smile.

Would things have been different if he had told her how he felt? Probably not. He would've failed her all the same.

Why was he still here? He was here because he made a promise.

And he intended to keep it.

Oh, Dero...

It's ironic that this world you are protecting for the Queen, is nothing more than a delusion, from someone that has entered into endless denial. Don't worry though, things will end, sooner or later...

Exercise Fic (and podcast) Recs 6

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve done six of these already!

I have four fic recs this week (all DC, but not entirely superbat) with some bonus art! The first two are by the same author, Batshit_Bogs, and they are series. I got interested in the first fic series because it is a wingfic AU and those are my SECRET WEAKNESS (don’t tell anyone!). The second fic series is a reverse robin AU where Damian is the first Robin, and it works backwards from there. I’m not completely done with it yet. I’m on part 6 of the series, and let me tell you, it is HARD TO WALK on a treadmill when you are CRYING. Uhhhhhhgggg. Very good though, I can’t wait catch up with the rest of the series. The third one updated twice (!!!!!) this week, so I was very excited to read the new chapters while walking (it was also a nice pick me up after reading the last one). The final fic is a timkon fic! I saw januariat’s lovely art inspired by the fic, and had to check it out :D I haven’t read much of timkon, but after reading this one, I NEED more of them in my life!

I’m still catching up with the Lions Led By Donkeys Podcast, so I listened to a couple of there episodes while walking. These episodes are from late 2018/early 2019, and both of them (especially the Battle of Hogwarts episode) mention JKR. It’s interesting to hear people’s thoughts and opinions of her in the past compared to now. The Battle of Hogwarts episode was also interesting for me to listen to because until recently (whenever The Batman movie came out), I was reading A LOT of HP fanfic, and you can tell that the hosts either don’t know about or don’t read fanfic. Also, it was fun yelling at my speakers when the one host kept fucking up the canon lore, lol.

I mixed it up a bit when I went to the coffeehouse for breakfast this morning. Instead of getting a croissant with my latte, I got a CHOCOLATE croissant. Very tasty 😋

It was overcast at the arboretum today, but it was still nice to walk. I got another good picture of my Favorite Spot. I like how the moss covered rocks follow the water.

There were SO MANY cardinals at the bird watch today, omg. There are EIGHT in this picture (possibly seven, one of the birds might be a male house finch).

Here is a nice picture of a male cardinal and female hairy woodpecker I liked.

Me now (older, wiser, chiller): It’s so neat that the youth have adopted “u” as an unofficial informal/intimate register and it feels so cozy to be called “u” in a tag or similar
