DCU from a Marvel fans limited perspective
recently i've accidently been sucked into the DCU universe, mostly Bat family, if i'm being honest, and although i've never watched a single movie/episode, this is what i have gathered from purely reading the occasional fanfiction/lots of tumblr posts
SPOILERS i guess
There are A LOT of batkids
Bruce Wayne adopts these motherfuckers like they're some kind of limited edition pokemon set
no one is actually sure how many there are but if you have black hair and blue eyes and live in gotham, Batman doesn't care if you've got parents or not. you're coming home with him
There appears to be five Robins and Batman goes though these children like a chainsmoker with a pack of cigarettes
people die a lot
Thats okay though because people come back to life a concerning amount as well
Jason Todd died and came back to life by being dumped in a pit of magical water
Damien Wayne is the only biological child of Bruce and he mentions this a lot
Dick Greyson was the first Robin and the first adoption and i think he and Bruce got in a fight and he left to become Nightwing
Jason Todd stole the Batmobile's wheels and became the second Robin. after he came back to life he became Red Hood
Tim Drake was not an orphan, he just fit Bruce's target demographic and was conveniently close (I mean come on, it's like express shipping) He is also some kind of super-genius. He was the third Robin but became Red Robin/Drake
Stephanie brown(?) was the fourth robin(?), not sure for how long. People get upset when other people forget. I think she's called Spoiler or something
Damien Wayne is the final Robin. Hes this assassins son and im pretty sure Talia dropped him off at the Wayne Manor and said, "I had him through the terrible twos, you get the teen years'
Not entirely sure if Tim runs Wayne enterprises
Brucie wayne is the funniest fucking thing i swear
He's so stupid
not sure is Tim, Dick and Jason follow Bruce's lead and become absolute airheads as well
Alfred is a butler
Alfred has guns
There's someone called Duke and Cass knocking around
The Justice League think Batman works alone
someone in the JL is allergic to the colour yellow
there is a concerning amount of Danny Phantom x DC crossover fics
sames goes for Miraculous
Tim Drake is Bi and for some reason people don't like that
internet is divided on whether of not Batman is a bad dad
#OnlyInGotham is a thing?
Gotham is like an australian NYC
the Riddler is a not funny, less aggressive version of the Joker
apparently Alcatraz and Arkham are different prisons but thats on me
there's a whole group of superheroes out there, each have strong powers and they decide to leave the most dangerous city to the member that has no powers and dresses up as an anthropomorphic bat and runs around the city causing copious amounts of property damage with his children
there is a girl called barbra? Gordon
there is a criminally small amount of content for the girls
for some reason people ship the bat kids together, ike, anytime you have to remind yourself 'its TECHNICALLY not incest is Not Good'
Clark Kent is running round acting as if his reading glasses are the only thing standing between a normal life and CHAOS and the worst thing is that he is right
i am a MCU fan and i was SO sure that Deadpool was MCU but now i'm not so sure
Fandom likes to have this troupe that Bruce wayne doesn't believe batman exists when obviously the superior troupe is that Gotham is pretty sure they are exes
teen titans and young justice are a thing but i cant figure out which robin is who.
Damien Wayne has enough animals to open a zoo
who tf in the batfam are metas?????
Batman has definetely used the Tired Dad voice on villains and the Brucie Wayne voice on the JL
Bruce Wayne has contingency plans if someone discovers his contingency plans
THERES A PLACE CALLED THE FUCKING BAT BURGER???????
it took 2 robins until batman realized that a small child running around in a vest top and speedos was not the greatest idea
Someone needs to tell me, like right now what's going on, where to start and what to read. bc rn im LIVING on chaotic fics

The crew gathered in the mess hall like usual, only this week the Captain had someone new joining the crew which she planned on introducing to everyone. The Captain sat at the head of the room on a small podium they put up each week for this exact meeting, this same meeting being the only one the Captain insists on having so the crew doesn’t fall out of touch with each other. Even though the gathering is to help unify everyone the crew has their own groups or cliques that they choose to associate with. The engineers mostly with other engineers, the medics with other medics, the navigators and linguistics specialists, you get the idea. With little crossovers happening all the time too, usually because the two people come from the same planet and it doesn’t matter what their job is on the Starliner, they have something in common so they easily get along.
The groups were forming as all the crew slowly filtered in through the mess hall doors. The noise in the room grew to a dull roar as people greeted each other and conversations continued. The Captain watched as everyone entered and once the crowds coming had slowed he stood up and got a good look as the now at capacity mess hall finished getting filled in. The noise of conversation didn’t cease as their noticeably blue skinned Captain stood, however a silence suddenly fell over the room as a human from Earth stepped into the mess hall with a light brown complection. The silence faded as a few of the groups around the hall started whispering to each other; however, as the Human walked to the back of the room, the quiet seemed to follow.
The Captain didn’t blame the crew for their fear of the Human it just seemed odd that over time they wouldn’t warm up to him. It was interesting to consider the origin of the entire crew was from any of the nine Paradise planets and that Carl (the human from Earth) was the only one from one of the five death worlds. The attitudes from the Paradisers was unusual because the Paradise planets have been the most accepting and open people in the whole span of discovered universes, it shouldn’t be so difficult for them to welcome in a Deathworlder like Carl especially because Carl was a total sweetheart and he wouldn’t hurt a fly but no one has really tried to get close to him and he wasn’t very outgoing in the first place. It has been nearly nine months since he had joined the crew and all anybody does is fear him.
Well that was all about to change as the new recruit to their Starliner also happens to be from a Deathworld. The Captain held up her hands getting everyone's attention and the mess hall fell silent again.
The Captain tapped the microphone before she began to speak. “We are all gathered together again to update the entire crew on what is going on around the ship, and this week I want to start by introducing our newest recruit to our crew. Stroughtbearee, come on up here.”
A large figure in a cloak stood up amongst the crew and walked up to the podium in slow lumbering steps. The figure pulled down its hood and revealed her blue tinted skin and brilliant red eyes. Many sections of her face came to a sharp point that was whiter and more translucent than the rest of her deep blue pigments. As she took the cloak off she seemed to shrink in size like some kind of magic trick. The points of the spikes along her body were holding the cloak up enough to make her seem like a large hulking figure but the dainty figure of her normal sized body stood in the midst of the long spikes that protruded out about six inches from her body. Her clothes were finely crafted to neatly go around each spike and not disturb the simple style of the crew uniform, plain black slacks with a light blue button up shirt
Many in the crew gasped but quickly tried to cover up their surprise. This clearly showed the separation the crew had amongst itself and how dynamically different this new crew member was to everyone else. Stroughtbearee recognized the instant social rejection such as this being pretty much the same way everywhere she goes. Being a death-worlder means everyone has fear and anxiety going through their head whenever you are around simply because the living things in your home world had evolved deadly ways to survive like external teeth or poisonous hair. The reality was that those who came from death-worlds were more adept at survival which was why they were often crewed onto large ships like these cruise Starliners to have some modicum of sanity when things go a little awry.
Cruise Starliners like this one stop at many ports and pick up many vermin as well as other strange creatures along with many unusual passengers of any race the universe can offer. Sometimes the crew falls into panic not knowing if their situation is dangerous, risky or food chain oriented. Most of the time it is none of those things and the survival officers know what to do in almost all of the situations. Very rarely does a survival officer actually need to do any survival tactics to help a crew that has crash landed on a planet but when it happens everyone is so happy they are there.
“Straughtbeary is our new survival officer, the second on our slowly growing team.” The captain announced finally cutting the awkward silence like a dull knife. “Please welcome her with our Starliner cruise cheer.”
The crew followed protocol and gleefully began to chant and dance. “When aboard the Melisandaunte ‘Happy to be here’ is what you will say- ay” After the chant rang clear for the third repetition, the tune changed at the end for the grand finale “Is whaaaaat yooouuuu wiiiiill say-ay-ay-aaaay!”
The crew burst into applause and yells of excitement over their grand performance of their port cheer that they welcome every guest that boards the Starliner with. The crew was actually very proud of it because they were the ones who wrote it, worked on it, and perfected it, not that Staughtbeary could tell the difference.
The Captain clapped mirthfully before bringing the meeting to an end and sending everyone back out to their stations. No other business could have been done anyway with everyone all excited for a new arrival.
The crew during the next following days and weeks continued without gaining any deeper connection to Straughtbeary than the obligated “hello” that everyone gave simply recognizing she was a part of the crew, and even that hello was often timid or nervous as they glanced awkwardly at her sharp spikes. No one was actively attacking her in any way but she could feel the tight pangs of rejection as they busily buzzed about their business not paying her any mind or even acting like they saw her there. Straughtbeary wasn’t really much of a social butterfly in the first place but even a single friend would be nice as they travel through the cosmos to the most touristy destinations. She just wanted one confidant she could laugh with as she would share every time she saw a stereotypical tourist doing the most touristy things like taking pictures of the blurry stars out the window of the Starliner, or when they wear their sandals and still have socks on. She only wanted one and there wasn’t any lack of trying either, in fact she had tried enough times to not want to try any more.
During their return loop to the HQ dock for the maintenance that could only be done when the ship is motionless and at the disposal of the dialysis crane crews in the hangar workshops that originally built the starliner cruise ship, you know the one time a year that there aren’t any passengers onboard and most of the crew doesn’t have to follow any schedules, anyway, during that loop the crew was throwing a crew appreciation BBQ with a hawaiian theme (being an earth related custom actually made the event macabre) and Carl being the resident expert was the inspiration (intelligence) for the most of the event. Once everyone had nervously pulled all the information they could out of him they set to work and didn’t come back to him for anything.
Once the BBQ had begun the many performers on the ship were twirling batons lit with fire and dancing on the edges of volcanoes to get everyone's shock and awe for their holographic realism performances that weren’t at all as dangerous as they looked. Carl sat alone at a table meant for eight and slowly worked on his series of drinks that ranged from fun and fruity mixed drinks and slowly became hard liquor. Carl wasn’t drinking his problems away he just didn’t have any company during the party so the drinks filled that role.
Half the night had passed when Carl got up to go to the bathroom. Upon returning to his table he found that the table he had total claim of before had been filled into by a rambunctious group eagerly goofing off and loudly having fun in the ways that Carl didn’t really appreciate or even want to tolerate being around. Carl moved on like he always did when he found himself naturally the outcast in the situation. Carl didn’t only find himself the outcast because of his Deathworlder origin but also because he was more of an introvert than an extrovert which was quite the opposite of most of the rest of the crew.
Carl was now wandering half drunk and unsure of what he was looking for but he was still searching all the same. Was it a spot to sit down? Was it a place to be alone? Was it at the bar? Or maybe at that nearly empty table? That almost empty table sounded better than the full ones, so he swaggered his way over to the table and plopped down in the first available seat. He chuckled to himself at how dumb his night had been already and how much he should just call it a night. He slowly turned his head around the table and finally met eyes with Straughtbeary who was the only other person at the table.
Normally he wouldn’t say anything but tonight he had already been drinking so the words sort fell right out of him without any filter either.
“You have the same problem I do, everyone is too scared or intimidated to become your friend, I’m not intimidated though, I have been to your planet and your people are kinder than mine, mine are all aggressive and jumpy, you guys are all collected and cool, if you didn’t look so scary you would have tons of friends.” Carl blurted out every thought contained in his brain  just before he started to have the thought to stop it.
“Well capitan, you are just the freshest perspective on the obvious, aren’t you?” Staughtbeary asked sharply, with every word completely soaked and dripping in her sarcastic tone.
“Why, thank you.” Carl replied, sounding like he clearly did not realize her tone and being too drunk for anyone to tell if he was really being sarcastic back.
“So much for comradery.” Staughtbeary commented unsure of where to go next.
“Oh, yeah.” Carl began with a calm realization. “We technically work in the same office, don’t we?”
Straughtbeary smiled slightly. “I think this is the first time we have actually talked to each other, but yeah, the survival office is too busy for any pleasantries.”
Carl frowned. “Pleasant trees?”
Staughtbeary rolled her eyes at the idiotic pun, but still smiled at his quip.
“Get it?” Carl chimed in digging his own grave.
“Wow, if the pun wasn’t bad enough, you also have to be insufferable.” She stated as she walked away. “Goodnight, I don’t deserve being treated this way.”
Carl wasn’t so drunk that he couldn’t help himself, he was really lashing out and now he felt stupid for doing it. Just when he actually met someone who was being authentic with him he had to push her away in the worst way ever, social awkwardness. Carl’s heart tugged with the weight of every footstep that carried Staughtberry away from him. It was like time had slowed and he was wishing for the steps to stop their expeditious journey that was pulling him back into his lonely cocoon which he had only just begun to burst out of.
“Wait.” Carl’s tone had dropped to a serious and desperate place, showing how vulnerable he was with the quaver in his voice which he hadn’t intended to do.
Straughtbeary froze mid step and waited to hear what Carl seemed so adamant to say.
“Look, I’m sorry.” Carl glanced at his feet. “I have had a rough go at this Starliner and I really didn’t want to hurt my only chance of having a friend but I am scared to be vulnerable enough to admit that I need a friend.”
“I know what you mean with this Starliner, I have only felt like an outcast the whole time I have been here.” Staughtbeary said, still frozen in place afraid to turn around and face Carl.
“Do you want to start over? Maybe forget my social suicide attempt by pun and try to not cross cultural boundaries like being insufferable?” Carl was practically begging.
Straughtbeary turned around and walked back toward Carl. “Sure, let's try this thing again because believe it or not, I am as desperate as you are for companionship.”
Carl sighed in relief and gestured to the empty table. They both walked to a chair and sat down without saying another word. Now sitting in an awkward silence, Carl desperately tried to start up a conversation.
“Staughtbeary.” Carl grinned. “Your name closely resembles the name of an earth fruit, a strawberry.”
“Yes, it does. I was told that when I left orientation to join the crew on the ship. The trainer knew you were from earth and said that it would be a good icebreaker to start a conversation with you.” Staughtbeary stated proudly hinting that she was proud that Carl did it on his own.
“Well, orientation is getting better and better at determining the way in which we need to live our lives, someday orientation will run the whole ship instead of us.” Carl tried his hand at humor.
Staughtbeary chuckled. “We could tell our fortunes by it if it gets any more accurate.”
Carl laughed. “That's good. Your joke was definitely better.”
“Why, thank you.” Straughtbeary said rather humbly.
“So tell me, what led you to getting this starliner gig?” Carl asked sincerely.
“The devalue of life skills in the workplace.” Staughtbeary stated outright.
Carl shrugged. “I was hoping for your story, not the fact that society is crumbling around us.”
“Oh, sorry.” Staughtbeary turned a darker shade of blue, which Carl recognized as blushing. “I applied everywhere that pertained to ecological decay and restoration but not only was there not any job openings, many of the restoring efforts have been solved by gene splicing and the thing that I am so passionate about doesn’t even exist anymore. I got my degree in ecological decay and now it is as useless as an arts degree.”
“Hey, what a coincidence…” Carl started just before he was interrupted.
“You have a degree in ecological decay?” Staughtbeary asked rather excitedly about being in the same boat with at least one person.
“Uh, no.” Carl couldn’t hold back a chuckle. “I have an arts degree.”
They both laughed for a bit before Staughtbeary moved the conversation forward. “So you have a useless arts degree and that landed you here?”
“No, I was trying out to be a part of a musical being done on the cruise ship and even though I am talented as an earthling, I just didn’t stand a chance against the Rumaiens who have two sets of vocal cords and can sing their own harmonies. The Captain of the ship was one of the judges for the tryout and noticed all my survival skills on my resume.”
“So, you were lucky? And I am desperate?” Staughtbeary deflated in her chair.
“No, I was desperate enough to accept the offer of a groundbreaking, ‘at trial’ position that if there wasn’t any good outcome would have disappeared.” Carl shugged. “I had no better prospects either, but at least you came into this position while it is secure.”
“What kinds of skills did you have on your resume?” Staughbeary pedaled back a bit.
“Oh, just knot tying and camping.” Carl stated.
“You had camping as a skill? Camping is a recreational activity, not a skill.” Staughtbeary mused at the incorrect thought.
“A friend of mine told me to put it on my resume because there are many in the universe who don’t see camping as recreation and see it more as a whole set of skills, which is exactly what happened to me.” Carl was trying to explain that his side of the story was similar to her story.
“Well, if you hadn't paved the way for me I wouldn’t even be here.” Staughtbeary said appreciatively.
Carl smiled with his teeth and then quickly let his lips fall to cover them up, which was a long standing habit that Staughtbeary noticed Carl do and got curious.
“Why did you sort of stop smiling just now?” Straughtbeary asked.
“Oh, that?” Carl shook his head. “You will stop baring your teeth to smile soon enough.”
“What? Why?” She cocked her head to one side as she asked curiously.
“Well, people from paradise planets, which is everybody else on the ship, don’t have a predator or prey relationship with anything, so when they are around Deathworlders, like us, they see us as Deathworlders in context, so if we show any signs of aggression it will push them into a fight or flight survival mindset, and since they have never needed to prey on other creatures or be prey they don’t know how to fight against anything, so when they get triggered they act like prey, trying to run or play dead or something. It really detracts from getting work done so I never bear my teeth anymore because subconsciously it gets perceived as an act of aggression.” Carl ended nearly out of breath as if he was trying to say it all in one breath.
“I haven't experienced that yet, I don’t think my face changes from pure confusion.” Straughtbeary explained. “Everyone who comes in asking for help with something is carrying a small trinket and asking if it could kill or harm them.”
“Is it like marbles and stuff?” Carl asked specifically.
“Yes, they have marbles and rocks and one guy even brought in a tooth, they are all totally crazy.” She said getting flustered just thinking about it.
“That is kind of funny, I think they are all trying to verify what I have already told them. Even though I was the only expert, they didn’t believe me, and now that there is a new expert they are trying to find out if the first one was really wrong, they don’t want to believe the truth.” Carl explained excitedly.
“You know I thought better of it but I had a moment when I had the idea to just lie and go along with what they say they think this thing will do.” Staughtbeary admitted.
“Yeah, that was smart of you to do.” Carl stated. “I wasn’t so smart.”
Straughtbeary twisted her face in intrigue as what Carl said sunk in. “Wait, what? What happened? Did you?”
“Yes, I gave in,” Carl’s head lowered. “I am not proud of it, but a cult on board the ship still meets weekly to worship a pebble.”
“So you started a religion?” Staughtbeary asked.
“Not really, I went to one of their meetings and tried to convince them to stop, but instead got labeled as one of the deceivers, and before you say it, I know how backwards it is to be labeled a deceiver and it being my word that started the believing in it in the first place.” Carl explained with such exasperation.
Straughtbeary couldn’t stop laughing at the irony of it all. Carl couldn’t believe how honest he had been about some of the most embarrassing things he had ever done. The night was passing by as the two reminisced over some parallels in their cultures and talked through the night one upping each other about scars and wounds. Before they knew it they were side by side looking out the windows at the many star patterns that they each knew.
“This one looks like a Dracnotolumis drainage ivy.” Straughtbeary stated with glee pointing to each star that made up the pattern.
Carl followed along but didn’t know what she was talking about. “Oh wow, another plant shaped one.”
Staughtbeary grinned. “At least it is not another ‘Greek god’ as you put it.”
“Well, Earth’s basic astrology is tied closely to an ancient and dead religion.” Carl said as a matter of fact.
“And Ravnareer’s basic astrology mirrors the life that is upon it, including my favorite things, plants.” Staughtbeary smiled and swayed in place, staring back out at the stars again.
Carl looked down at his feet before glancing over at a nearby group of partiers and then looking back to Staughtbeary. “You ever wish you weren’t from a death world?”
“No, but I can tell that this place has gotten to you though.” Straughtbeary gave away that she had been watching Carl in the reflection of the window as she talked right to him but not turning her head in the slightest. “I would hate to be from some paradise planet, I would be afraid of everything and nothing would ever be good enough, besides that I would be even more upset that I didn’t have all of my life threatening stories which in a whole make up who I am.”
“Yeah, but being from a death world you didn’t really face death that often did you?” Carl asked.
“No, not that often but when I did face it, it was good to know that I was still alive regardless of the threat against me.” Staughtbeary grinned again. “Like that one time I was attacked by a Reek, it’s stinger could have punctured my skin and left it’s poisonous tip behind killing me in minutes but instead the Reek reared back for a strike and I turned my head away which hit the Reek with one of my spikes causing it to spin and fall to the ground probably saving my life.”
Carl excitedly nodded his head. “Wow, that reminds me of the time that I got surprised by a rattlesnake in the wild-”
“Wild?” Staughtbeary interrupted. “Do you have certain animals that are more chaotic than others?”
“Oh, no.” Carl shook his head before explaining. “On Earth, we had many people keep animals in captivity and those that were living in nature and were not domesticated by the influence of humans were considered wild animals.”
“Undomesticated, got it.” Staughtbeary said as if repeating carl.
“Anyway, that kind of poisonous snake makes a loud rattling sound with its tail to warn or scare other creatures away because it is ready to strike to protect itself, and I didn’t hear any rattling until I nearly stepped on it.” Carl started to sound like he was bragging. “The Rattle snake snapped at me but just barely missed.”
“Wait a second, have you ever actually had any life threatening injuries or have you only ever skirted around the dangerous things?” Staughtbeary asked with curiosity.
“No, I have always stayed out of harm's way and most of my scary experiences are just near misses.” Carl explained. “Why do you ask?”
“Well, I am the same way, nothing has happened to me either, I just look back at my life and see all the times I could have died and never experienced the things that could have caused death. I have only been a survivor by avoidance, not experience.”  Straughtbeary shrugged from her realizations.
“Well, I believe that makes us better qualified for our jobs then, because I have met those from my world that are not careful and think that nothing bad will happen to them, we are opposite and we would teach others to be like us and avoid dangers. If we were to encourage diving in and asking questions later then we would be as good as doctors treating people for what has happened to them,” Carl explained. “and I am not a doctor, I would not be able to help afterwards anyway.”
“I never thought of it that way,” Staughtbeary smiled. “I also never thought I would be grateful for an analytical over-explanation.”
“Oh, my world calls that mansplaining.” Carl stated.
“Mansplaining? That is rather descriptive and on point, how clever.” Straughtbeary mused.
The crowds of people gathered around the dance floor made some noise that both Carl and Staughbeary thought was part of the partying so they paid no mind to it.
“I wonder, have you ever-” Carl stopped when the crowd's noise didn’t sound like fun noise.
Carl and Staughtbeary were now looking at the group of people trying to understand what was going on. A blood curdling scream pierced the air and Carl and Staughtbeary started running towards the crowd worried for what was going on. The crowds were backing away from something on the dance floor as if there were some kind of dangerous creature. They pushed through the crowds to see what was going on and finally got sight of the cause of comotion.
A team of attractive dancers were dancing in unison and the crowds were entranced and excited, calling out and screaming when some part of the dance stimulated them.
Embarrassed that they were thinking about survival stuff and were reacting to normal stuff like it was something dangerous, they stepped back and sank back into the crowds which wasn’t that hard to do because everyone gave Straughtbeary a lot of space now that they could see her.
The two laughed as they walked away from their embarrassing moment which wasn’t really that embarrassing because everyone avoided the two of them anyway. They walked out of the “Funasium” where the party was being held and Carl walked Straughtbeary to her quarters.
“I guess we need to get off our one track mind.” Carl said with a smile. “See you around the office when it’s not busy.”
“Has the office ever been slow?” Staughtbeary asked with hope for the future.
“No, but I might say hi when I pass by your desk.” Carl smiled again.
“That sounds good,” Straughtbeary smiled back. “I will do the same.”

assorted Transformers fics to rec (part 1...?)
i really do think fic recs are valuable to fandom so here’s a random collection of Transformers fics i like, with no particular theme. these were compiled by frantically googling half-remembered bits to try and find the only ones i remember reading years ago, and i know i’m missing some i’d like to include
EDIT: part 2 here!
A Prime Performance
TFP AU, incomplete, AO3. Megatron is an actor in a children’s show. this is just as hilarious as you think it is. some slowburn MegOp. i love all the easter eggs and references and the way this in-universe show is created and run?? it’s fascinating
All Roads Lead to Rome
no set continuity/vaguely Bayverse, oneshot, AO3. a huge robot warrior like Sunstreaker is odd enough in modern times, just imagine him in ancient Rome. extremely interesting premise to me i love this bit and would love more. warning for typical crass patriarchal expectations for women in marriage but nothing actually explicit
Another Gate
Bayverse, complete multichap, FFN. whatever Sam is now, it isn’t human. some REAL good body horror, friendship, and alien strangeness ooooo
Bodies (break)
IDW, oneshot, AO3. Ultra Magnus goes to therapy and Rung is something wrong. oooooooghhghghhf i LOVE when people lean into the oddness and creepiness of the local god
Brave New World
fan canon, ongoing webcomic, TFW05. a spin on BW among other things, following Rodimus Prime’s crew of beastformers as they face down an assortment of bad guys and mysteries. LOVE this canon guys i LOVE it, very very good beast mode choices, very heartfelt and very funny, i also love seeing the art progression over the years. lovely webcomic here
Burn a hole in the old grip of the familiar
TFP, complete multichap, AO3, NSFW near the end. it’s focused on Ultra Magnus/reader but the first half of this fic is probably my favorite. the overwhelm and incredulity the reader character grapples with for awhile, i feel like it’s pretty realistic for someone who’s been shoved into a weird new world. DEFINITELY did Breakdown dirty though. has sequels that i haven’t read
dares for the first time
G1, oneshot, AO3. lovely little take on a G1 Guiding Hand that makes me feel things
Dog of Law
IDW, complete multichap, AO3. the Lost Light crew don’t find Minimus in Tyrest’s cells, they find a small green turbofox. lovely character driven piece here and honestly i just really like when his canonical turbofox alt is used i think it’s a shame we never got it in the story proper
First Contact
IDW, incomplete, AO3. listen it’s only a little bit written but i am OBLIGATED to post isekai/modern girl in Middle Earth/falling into fiction type of stories and i really liked the setup for this one okay! i love isekai and this was the only one i could remember to track down
Grey Is The Night
Batman/vaguely IDW crossover, complete multichap, AO3. there’s a new police car in Gotham, and it’s up to no good. listen i don’t even do DC stuff but Batman meeting Prowl here is done MARVELOUSLY ohhh i love this very much, the plot is GOOD, and i bet folks who actually like DC will love it even more
Hazard Light
IDW, oneshot, AO3. a hanahaki take on Brainstorm/Perceptor that i actually like, despite not usually enjoying hanahaki at all, with some nice Cybertronian biology too
How to Save the World in 8 Minutes and 3 Seconds
vaguely G1/continuity soup, oneshot, AO3. how does Prowl save a species, with blocked communications, no visuals, and a short time limit? why, he just keeps an eye on social media of course! a lil dark and fun and clever
In Media Bellum
TFP, incomplete, AO3. human reader is caught up with Team Prime in a delightful exploration of culture and introspection and found family. no shipping but masterful platonic relationship work! it feels... idk relaxed? caring? i love the tone of this writing
Juxtaposition
vaguely G1, complete multichap, FFN (also on AO3 but never finished crossposting). a human OC gets in a car accident and starts hearing voices in her head, unknowingly saving a Cybertronian’s life, even if it’s in a very atypical manner. love this OC, love the whole premise here and the exploration of an alien reality from a human POV. no shipping, if that’s not ur thing
Lost Light/Rodimus
IDW, oneshot, Tumblr. the ship comes to life and has something important to ask Rodimus. i love this concept it’s very good, very intriguing
Magnus Carey
IDW, oneshot, AO3. Verity teaches Minimus about Christmas. short and sweet, i love their friendship
My Totally Real Mary Sue Husband Who Lives Back On Cybertron
TFA, oneshot, AO3, Dratchet. “Ratchet offhandedly mentions he's conjunxed. Bumblebee refuses to believe him. Hijinks ensue.” funny and in character and sweet
Mythbusters Season Nine Interlude: The Autobot Special
G1/Mythbusters crossover, oneshot, AO3. busting some myths AND some Decepticons! it just keeps getting better and better the further you read. i laughed out loud so many times, and cheered at recognizing so many classic Mythbusters bits, and i will get on my hands and knees to beg for a Dirty Jobs sequel these shows were my CHILDHOOD
Patronus
TFP, twoshot, AO3. Megatron has teatime with Rung, who... is not a normal bot. more good good Rung being something wrong
Property Of
Bayverse, incomplete, FFN. when Sam and Mikaela meet Bumblebee, it isn’t as an Autobot scout, but rather as a new owner of these recently discovered organic animals called “humans”. a very well done human pet fic that doesn’t veer into psychological torture or boundary crossing or anything (sorry if that’s your jam) and while it’s incomplete i still love what’s there, especially as the kids learn how to communicate their personhood to an ignorant Bee
Rules to Follow When Making First Contact
continuity soup/fan canon, ongoing series, AO3. listen i know many folks aren’t here for the human characters but i LOVE all the humans here they are each characterized so well and i love seeing how its been blended together across canons. this is a very clever, very engaging setup with a very grounded presence for alien robots that hits in ALL the right places for me. AUTOBOTS LEARNING ENGLISH YALL!!! YES!!! very good very good
Scrimscrim
TFP....... sort of, incomplete, AO3. what do you do when you end up with a Starscream toy brought to life? this is a hilarious premise with good characterization, a lovely human OC, a ridiculous situation handled very realistically, and generally good fun to read. reverse isekai is perhaps more of a favorite of mine than isekai!
SG Prime
TFP SG au, ongoing webcomic, own website and DA. REALLY REALLY COOL YALL. fantastic designs and inclusions and expanding on TFP lore and making very interesting SG dynamics and just. excellent.
TFP Wheeljack in TFA
TFP/TFA crossover, ongoing series of posts, Tumblr. i LOVE crossovers, i will kill and die for crossovers, and this is one of the few i’ve been able to find! there’s enough posts under that tag that i haven’t been able to read them all but what i did see is GOOD
The Echo Garden
IDW/TFP crossover, incomplete, AO3. Soundwave gets picked up by the Lost Light. okay i am a SUCKER for crossovers as previously stated and this one is Good. leans fully into being a crossover and expounding on the differences between universes. Soundwave needs to figure out what to do with himself! also features some delightful slowburn SoundRod and a lovely ensemble cast. Toaster is the best
The One Where The Decepticons Are The Good Guys
TFP SG au, incomplete, AO3. i’m not typically a fan of Shattered Glass stuff but this doesn’t feel terribly OOC or completely upended or alien to the original plot, i think this is done very well and i can’t wait for more
Transformers Recovery: Primal Launch
fan canon, complete multichap, AO3. it’s like the Lost Light but weirder, i don’t even know how to convey its awesomeness. VERY funny, VERY cool, Sky Lynx is there, Swerve is important, Riptide is such a good bot, Megatron exists, just all good things here. treat yourself and read this it’s such a delight
Twenty-Five to Life
vaguely IDW, oneshot, AO3. Starscream/Minimus soulmate au that makes me wheeze when i read it because it it so painfully in character and hilarious oh my god i am CRYING laughing by the time i finish it. petty criminal Starscream, noble Minimus, oil and water. gets raunchy but nothing explicit with an NSFW sequel
Under Control Till You’re In Front Of Me
G1, oneshot, AO3. i need more people to join the Shockwave/Moonracer ship please please it’s good
Xenoethnography
canon soup/based in TFP, ongoing series, AO3. a more hard scifi take on Transformers from the POV of an anthropologist hired to study them. y’all, THIS IS GOOD. seriously if there’s one fic out of all of these i could keep, it’d be this one, it’s just so so good ugh. ugh i love it i need to catch up with it again

@mahpotatoequeen thank you for tagging me!
How many works do you have on AO3? only 11, but I make up for it in word count.
What’s your total AO3 word count? 468,908 words (sorry)
How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they? Only three fandoms. TMBS (show and books, idk if these count as separate) and wolf 359.
Top five fics by kudos:
So...I'm in some pretty small fandoms and only started writing last year so I don't have a lot of high kudos fics. But this is what I got so far:
S.O.S
The Oldest Siblings
Who You Were Meant To Be / Treat Them With(out) Mercy (tied)
It Should Have Been Us
A Joy To Obey
Honorable mention: The highest Wolf 359 fic I have since I only started writing for that fandom like a week ago (it's a nice fic about Renee and Dominik for anyone interested): For Better or For Worse
Do you respond to comments?
Of course! I love hearing from you guys and discuss my work, fandom theories and ideas.
What’s the fic with the angstiest ending you’ve ever written?
My tmbs followers know the answer to that question. Sorry S.O.S. fans (but also: not sorry at all).
Edit: Also, how did I forget, but my tmbs fic The Boys Who Waited, has a super angsty ending. It's one of my lesser known fics, but I do really like how it comes full circle in the end and you don't realize the implications of what's happening until the fic is over.
As for my Wolf 359 fics, I'd say the one with the angstiest ending is my most recent fic about Jacobi dealing with the loss of Kepler. The fic received positive critical review from the esteemed @sophieswundergarten, but the last chapter does end on a slightly ominous note/cliff hanger. Here it is if you want to check it out: The Legacy of the Artist Formerly Known As Warren Kepler (or An Ode to Whiskey Boy)
Do you write crossovers?
Not really. Some of my fics blend the show and book elements of tmbs, or reference the other, but not to the point of what I'd call a "cross over"
Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
Not on my fics. I think a few times on my blog, but I don't have time to think about or deal with that. I'm also neurodivergent, so sometimes I have trouble knowing whether people are actually insulting me or doing or saying something "as part of a joke". I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Do you write smut?
Nope, it's not for me.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not, and I don't think so. I write for really small fandoms. It would be pretty obvious if someone did.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but @sophieswundergarten recently made a podfic of the first chapter of my fic Who You Were Meant To Be and that made my whole day! 🥰 The link to the podfic is in the chapter notes if you want to listen.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I don't do a lot of shipping. I wrote a few things about Renee Minkowski/Dominik Koudelka, but they're married in canon so a lot of that wrote itself. (Works are here if you're interested: For Better or For Worse / The Return of the Blessed)
What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
All of my SOS sequels. I'm going to try though. We'll see what happens.
What are your writing strengths?
Long fic. I can take an idea and run with it. I'm also good a picking up where I series left things off or when a show gets cancelled and leaves a cliff hanger.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Short fic. I wrote around 7k-8k words for a Wolf 359 fic and someone commented how happy they were that they "finally got a long fic about this". And I was flattered, but like. 7-8k words???? LONG????
...who's gonna tell them?
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?
I've only done this a few times. I try my best and do as much research as I can. I want it to be accurate though, so if you're a native speaker, and I got something wrong, feel free to (politely) lmk so I can fix it.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?
For the tmbs fandom S.O.S. since it's what I'm known for, but also Who You Were Meant To Be because I love a good redemption story and I've gonna a lot of really nice feedback on it.
For the Wolf359 fandom, weirdly enough, The Return of the Blessed, which is based on my own unhinged crack theory, but I love writing it.
Tagging: @itsgoghtime @oflightningandstars @myfairkatiecat @mysteriouseggsbenedict @heyitsthatonesmolgay and anyone else who wants to participate!

As someone who is long-time fan of Mlp EG and who has just finished watching TFP, your fic is true delight. I read it 5 times at least and it is still awesome. You perfectly matched girls with their autobots partners just as well as you did with decepticons as their evil counterpart. For example Twilight/Shockwave - both have high inteligence, but while one uses it for greater good and to help the others, the other abuses it to gain power and hurt the others; Fluttershy/Soundwave - even thought they are both animal lovers and quiet types, FS is just very shy girl while SW is calculating sadist; Rainbow/Starscream - Apart from being queer icons (If you can look at these two without the word gay constantly entering your mind, congrats, you´re legit cishet) they´re actually pretty similliar in function and personallity wise. They´re both eccentric, aroggant showoffs and are also fastest on their team. But it´s their differences that are making them great foils. RD is impaitent hothead, who jumps straight into action without the second thought, while SC is great schemer, who has his plans planed out. RD is literally element of loyalty, while SC is mostly loyal to himself and etc. I can´t wait to see all their interactions in the future. If you´re interested in some writting advice, there is one minor thing that can be fixed : your description of characters feelings and thought. You start explaining how and why they feel that way instead of giving readers benefit of the doubt. The best term I can think of is that you are describing a picture. Like you want us to see, hear and understand everything at once. It creates unnecessary sentences or whole paragraphs without which some emotional moments would have sounded better. For example if paragraph in Ch.2 with sentence "She was too stuborn." it would have sounded so much better. Or sentences like "She was too precious." are also kind of waste of space since they don´t tell anything new. It´s not worst type of description, but it can create a feeling that you don´t trust youre readers to read from emotions characters alone. Many new writers and comic artists are often doing this. It can be solved 2 ways : by improving their writing or start drawing comics. I´m sorry if I confussed you in some way. I tried my best to explain it, but english is not my primary language. If you don´t mind, I would recommend fics from @whatwooshkai to see what I am talking about ( it´s mostly TF shipping stuff, but man, the writting is so good that I can´t stop reading even if I wanted to). Overall great story and art, just writting needs a little improvment.
I want to finish this already long post with few questions:
1.What is group dynamic with eachother? I mean in and outside of their decided pairings. I can see Sideswipe and Rainbow´s relationship as chaos siblings and that Rainbow is definitely driving Ratchet insane, but what about the others? I´m courious to know.
2.Did you already started writting the next book? If not, do you have planned when you will start?
3.Do you consider draw this as a full time comic or at least draw some parts of it? Or drawing some strips of your incorrect quotes? It´s just that you´re artstyle is so pretty and redesigns of the autobots and girls are great. It´s shame to see so little of them.
4. Did you thought about getting your comics dubbed on youtube?
5. Do you draw ideas from the asks from your followers on Tambrlane or you take commissions only? Like if they had a idea for a comic/sketch and they post it to you, would you draw it? If not, could they draw it with your redesignes?
6. What gave you idea for this crossover? My best guess is that comic from Hasbro.
Holy- I never thought I would get such a long ask.
*rolls up sleeves and rubs hands*
Okay, let’s do this!
First, I want to thank you so much for the kind words, the fact that there are people who got really interested in my fic makes my heart flutter. <3
And I really love it when readers point out small details that I haven’t thought about that much while writing! Thank you a lot for the advice and recommendations, I really appreciate it! I will keep that in mind!
Now, to answer your questions:
1. You are absolutely correct about Sideswipe and Rainbow’s relationship, in my opinion, they will be the best chaos siblings (I am 100% sure that most of the members will go insane because of their pranks) I could write more detailed headcanons for them and the others too.
2. The next book is nearly finished, I will make sure to post it at the beginning of January.
3. I will drop more art soon, promise! Sorry for the lack of content, I’ve been pretty busy for the past few months. But now I’m finally free and I will certainly start drawing again! I also have several ideas in mind for some parts of the next book.
4. I don’t mind my comics being dubbed as long as I’m credited and they’ve asked for permission.
5. Again, if I’m credited and asked for permission, there will be no problem for other artists to draw my redesigns. I don’t usually take requests and it really depends on my free time and motivation, but if I really like the idea that has been suggested, I would (probably) draw it.
6. Good guess! But actually no. I was really into this crossover way before Hasbro decided to make a comic of it. I’ve been into a lot of fandoms and reading crossover fanfics basically became like a hobby to me. I got a lot of inspiration after I accidentally stumbled upon some pretty good written Tf/Mlp fics, but it took me a lot of time to finally get enough courage and start writing my own. I’m more than thankful for the support and love that I was given through the years! It really motivated me to keep on going!

Chapter 3 - Chapter 5
Chapter 4
Next morning, Marinette walked down to an empty dining room. She awkwardly took a random seat and sat quietly for a few moments; she hoped that the family would join her for breakfast. After about 10 minutes she gave up waiting for them, “Um, Alfred?” she asked in what she assumed to be an empty room. Alfred, almost by magic, appeared before her with breakfast.
“Good morning, Miss Marinette,” he greeted, “Today’s breakfast is an assortment of pastries and a cup of chocolat chaud.”
“Thank you, Alfred, where is everyone?” Marinette asked as she gestured to the empty table.
“Ahem, Master Bruce is a late riser as he is usually up late. Master Dick returned late last night, so he won’t be up until later. Master Jason stayed up into the night reading, so he won’t be down for breakfast either. Master Tim has been awake for over 48 hours and I've made him rest. Miss Cassandra has left early for ballet practice, and Master Damian has fencing practice and would rather not be disturbed,” Alfred recited, his explanations prepared long beforehand.
“Oh,” Marinette muttered, “All right then.”
“You know, every month, we all gather and chip in to help the people of Gotham. Master Dick will be going to local orphanages tomorrow. Why, Master Damian goes to the animal shelters every week. Would you like to follow me to help give food to the homeless?” Alfred offered.  Marinette blinked for a moment as she tried to picture Damian, with his usual sour scowl, being surrounded by cute animals.
“That sounds great Alfred, would…would anyone mind?” Marinette asked.
“Not at all,” Alfred said before leaving.
Later, Marinette sat in the back of the limousine with a few baskets beside her, all filled to the brim with sandwiches made by Alfred. Her heart sank the deeper she went into Gotham City. She could never truly get used to the state of the city. “Where are we?” Marinette asked.
“Gotham City’s East End,” Alfred answered, “where most of the unfortunate souls reside.”
The car slowly came to a stop in front of a small alleyway. The entire street grew silent as everyone focused on the car. It wasn’t everyday a luxury car came to this part of Gotham, it attracted all sorts of attention. Alfred got out first and locked the car, and as he walked towards the side to open the door for Marinette, he was accosted by a man.
“Nice ride old man, wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to it.” The man spoke with a malicious glint in his eye.
“Let’s keep this amicable, Gentlemen. Please go away.” Alfred answered monotonously.
One man drew his arm back for a punch, only for Alfred to deliver a swift kick to the groin. The man instantly collapsed and writhed on the floor. Alfred opened the door and Marinette nervously stepped out and watched the man on the floor in worry and pity. She whispered a quick apology to the man. People on the street began to gossip, was this girl the heiress to a crime family? Gossip began to die down as Alfred gave them a stern glare, and people began going about their business.
Alfred quickly collected the baskets, “Miss Marinette, please stay close.” Marinette followed Alfred through the streets until they reached a shanty town filled with children.
Marinette gasped at the ragged children living on the streets and took an unconscious step back. Tears pricked her eyes for a moment as she saw the conditions they lived in, but this was replaced with a determination as she walked up to them and offered a sandwich. The children eyed her suspiciously, the closest one slapped her hand aside. “How stupid do you think we are?!”
Marinette froze at the hostility coming from the children, “But…I…” she stammered.
Another child shouted, “That's how they kidnapped Bob and Bill last week, two people came in dressed as the Mayor's Homeless Outreach Project. They threw Mackey through a window and even killed old man Steve.”
Marinette began to panic as the children of Alleytown began to yell at her. "All right, that's enough," a voice behind her boomed and all the children were silent. Marinette looked back to see Jason standing behind her.
“Jason?” Marinette said in shock, “What are you doing here?”
“I just happen to be around," he said unconvincingly. He turned to the children, “She’s with me,"
“Well well, if it isn’t Jason Todd, what brings you and your friend to Alleytown?” a voice came from nearby. Marinette turned around to see a blonde woman perched on the sill of an open window with one leg crossed over the other.
"Holly," Jason greeted plainly, "Marinette's a friend visiting from Paris. She just wants help out while she's in town." Marinette felt a twinge of shame, did Jason not refer to her as family out of contempt? She looked down at the floor, unable to meet Jason's eyes. "She's one of the good few, trust me."
Marinette looked up tentatively at Jason. She wasn't sure how to react, but here he was vouching for her to strangers. "I brought some food…" she said as she held out a sandwich.
Holly leaped off the window sill and landed in a roll, she strolled towards Marinette and picked up the sandwich offered to her. Marinette seemed a little startled by the ease with which Holly managed to do that. "Well, don't mind if I do," she said as she took a bite. Marinette nervously looked at Holly chewing, all the Alleytown kids stared too, suspicion still in their glares. "Hey, this is good. Come on and have some," she told the kids. In a split second their suspicious glares disappeared and the kids crowded around Marinette for free food.
The children swarmed and overwhelmed Marinette, she frantically gave everyone sandwiches.
They then quickly dispersed back into hiding after taking their portion, Marinette, Jason and Alfred were then left alone. Marinette breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from her brow.
“Would you like a lift home, Master Jason?” Alfred asked as he gestured to the limousine.
“Sure, why not?” Jason shrugged. Alfred got into the driver’s seat and Jason joined Marinette in the back. Marinette sat quietly beside Jason, refusing to make eye contact with him. Instead she preferred to stare at her feet the entire ride home.  As the car made its way back to Wayne Manor, there was a deafening silence in the back seat.  Marinette felt like her siblings simultaneously wanted nothing to do with her, and yet one of them was nice enough to vouch for her back there.
"What's wrong?" Jason asked bluntly.
“Nothing, I’m fine,” Marinette snapped back.
Jason sighed and crossed his arms, “For the last two days, you looked as if someone kicked your puppy. Didn't think Gotham would make you miserable that quickly.”
“What's it to you?” Marinette asked, almost grumpily.
“Because there's only room in that manor for one miserable person and that's usually Bruce. And it seems like you inherited Bruce’s ability to brood for days too. Now are you going to tell me what's wrong?"
"Did I do something wrong?" Marinette whispered, her voice slightly cracked.
Jason looked at her in confusion. "Do you even think of me as family at all?"
"Is it because I called you a friend back in Alleytown?" Jason asked, Marinette nodded.
"It's something the public isn't ready for yet, it's to protect you. The moment someone finds out, you can kiss goodbye any privacy you have." Marinette nodded slowly as she processed Jason's words. "If it makes you feel any better, you're probably the only normal kid Bruce has," Jason said offhandedly, only to suddenly grimace. He swore internally at the careless remark. Marinette perked up at Jason's comment and looked towards him curiously. "Dick, Tim and I are all orphans. Unlike those two, I grew up on the streets similar to the kids you helped back there. Eventually we were all adopted by Bruce, one way or another. Cass ran away from an abusive home, and Damian’s mom travels around a lot.” he recounted, carefully wording it with half-truths. “And even though Steph has her mom and isn’t adopted, her dad was always in and out of jail."
Tears began to form around Marinette's eyes as she listened closely to her siblings' life stories. By comparison, her mother and father cared for her all her life, she couldn't even begin to comprehend what they have all been through.
Jason sighed and pondered what he could do to calm Marinette down. After a few moments of tolerating Marinette’s crying, he tentatively placed a hand on her head. “Still, you did good. Not many people would reach out to help the children of Alleytown. I’m sure it meant a lot to them.”
“Thanks…”Marinette sniffed. “I just did what I felt was right.”
Jason’s face changed to one of annoyance, though he turned to look outside the window. He groaned internally, at the very least Marinette wasn’t a Robin or a superhero of any kind. He was sure the very first thing she would do would be to jump in front of a bullet out of pure selflessness.
Early the next morning, not long before sunrise, the family sat around Batman. "I have bad news…"
"Well, that's ominous," Nightwing quipped.
"Just get on with it," said Red Robin.
"Marinette has caught the attention of Vicki Vale," Batman admitted, the entire room erupted in groans. "Quiet." Batman ordered. "Alfred and I have discussed it and we decided we should take the initiative. We have agreed to reveal Marinette but on our own terms."
Alfred spoke up, "We hope to cultivate a positive reputation for Miss Marinette and her family in Paris. Who knows what nonsense these tabloids can spew."
"So that's why you suggested to her to give food out yesterday," Red Hood summarised.
Alfred nodded, "Yes, I took photos too.”
“Any suggestions?” Batman asked.
Spoiler rubbed her chin for a few moments, being the only person in the group who actually reads tabloids of her own free will. “Why not a photo shoot? Have her look her best.”
Alfred took out his notebook and began writing. “Not a bad idea. I was considering a debutante ball or a formal introduction at the next gala. Though, she will require etiquette lessons.”
Red Robin raised his hand stiffly, “Will there be an interview?” he asked.
Batman nodded in response, “Yes, Ms. Vale is asking for one.”
“Then I suggest it be pre-recorded then broadcasted, or at the very least a strict script for both Marinette and Vicki to follow,” Alfred suggested.
Nightwing sighed and facepalmed, “I hate the paparazzi,” he groaned. “This is our fault for not being careful. We need to make sure her and her family’s reputation stays intact.”
Red Hood laughed, he grabbed Nightwing by the shoulder and with his free arm waved across the space in front of them “I can see the headlines ‘Gotham's Homewrecker!’” Nightwing elbowed Red Hood in the ribs. “Come on, this is exactly the kind of shit to expect.”
“He’s got a point,” Oracle chimed from the screen, “The Gotham Gazette can be ruthless.”
"Then it's settled, I'll break the news to her later," said Batman.
After another quiet breakfast alone, Marinette quickly went back to her room. She curled up and sat on her bed, her knees against her chest.
"Are you okay?" Tikki asked.
"I want to trust my family, to trust my father and siblings. I want to believe in Dick, Steph and the others. It's just…been hard, especially with what we saw out there."
"Hmm, I understand how you feel. Maybe it is just your father, after all, he did mention most of the others were adopted,” Tikki remarked, “Besides, Dick, Cass and Steph seem nice."
"You might be right Tikki. Who knows, maybe the adoptions were publicity stunts,"  Marinette said.
There was a knock on her door, Tikki quickly flew into Marinette's sleeve. "May I come in?" asked Bruce from outside. Marinette slapped her hand over her mouth, worried that he heard what she just said. She shakily opened the door slightly to peer out.
Bruce gave her a polite smile, "Good morning, how are you?"
"I'm g-good" she stammered as she opened her door to let him in. Bruce stood inside for a few quiet moments, he ran his hand through his hair nervously. This in turn made Marinette more nervous.
Bruce broke the uncomfortable silence, "It seems, the paparazzi found out about you," Marinette's eyes widened and was about to speak before Bruce interrupted her.
"I've decided that, if we don't have a choice, we need to make sure your introduction is flawless."  Marinette quietly nodded as she listened to her father. "Alfred will provide you the details, and he will give you lessons on etiquette. We have a photo shoot planned and you'll be formally introduced during the next gala."
Marinette continued to nod, an awkward silence enveloped the room again. "Just be careful, gossip magazines can be ruthless. This may also affect your family," Burce said ominously.
Marinette didn't respond, she just looked down at the floor. Bruce checked his watch, "I'm sorry, I have an appointment soon. See you later,” Bruce then quickly left the room. He had hoped he conveyed the message to Marinette that all this was for her sake.
Once he was out of earshot, Marinette slumped onto her bed and screamed into her pillow. Tikki flew out and tried to console her. "I can't believe it, that jerk! Now that his secret love child has been revealed he expects me to be the perfect child? All for what? To protect his reputation?!"
She sighed deeply, before turning on her TV, she flipped through the channels, and froze as the news came on screen. “Mr. Wayne! Mr. Wayne!” the reporter yelled as she pushed through the crowd. The cameraman followed the best he could, the camera shook as he pushed past the large group of people gathering. The view slowly came into focus and she saw her father in a fancy suit, scantily clad models on either side, his arms over their shoulders. She didn’t have the energy to be any more shocked, she could only stare at the screen blankly. Watching billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne appear before a large crowd at some party. He was chatty, sociable, flirty, he winked towards the camera with a bright smile. It was as if he was a completely different person in public. Frankly, it made Marinette feel uneasy and reaffirmed her earlier beliefs, Bruce Wayne was someone who valued his reputation above all else. And it made her sick.  The interview that followed was vapid and uninteresting, though she was amazed to see her father acting like an absolute airhead.  She stared in shock as she watched her father act like a loveable fool for the cameras, she was almost impressed by his acting.
"Why don't you go for a walk, try to clear your mind?" Tikki suggested. Marinette signed and nodded, she got up and left her room.
She wandered the empty halls of Wayne Manor aimlessly. She spent much of her time staring at the floor instead of its architecture. Fear began to slowly creep up as she thought what would happen when word got out, what would happen to her? Her friends? Her parents? Would an angry mob try to burn down the bakery? Just as her anxiety began to spiral she noticed a familiar pair of shiny shoes in front of her. She looked up to see Alfred in a frilly apron dusting a few portraits.
"Ah, what brings you here Miss Marinette?" asked Alfred as he worked.
Marinette took a closer look at the portrait, some man who, from what she gathered, passed centuries ago. The entire length of the hall was decorated with portraits of serious looking men. Their stares felt judgmental, as if all her ancestors deemed her unworthy. "Uh, I just wanted to know who the people in all of these portraits are," she said.
"These are portraits of all the heads of the House of Wayne, starting all the way back to 1640 with Nathaniel Wayne," Alfred explained as he walked to the corresponding portrait.
"The Waynes have been here for that long?"
"Indeed, the Waynes have been around since the founding of the old Gotham Town. By the way, has your father told you about your predicament?" Marinette nodded. "Good, first we should focus on your photoshoot and interview. I've arranged an appointment at the tailor's later and asked Miss Cassandra and Miss Stephanie to join us."
"Actually," Marinette interrupted, "I was wondering if maybe I could design my own dress for the event? In fact I did design something for Gabriel Agreste." Marinette thought this might save her from being poked and prodded by a seamstress while everyone argued over what would look best on her.
"Why, that's wonderful" Alfred said with a smile, "we can just get the fabric as well as any tools you may need. Why don't you wait for Miss Cassandra and Miss Stephanie in the living room?"
Alfred opened the door and ushered Marinette into the living room, she froze slightly as she saw Tim sitting on a sofa. He seemed busy as he worked on his laptop. Marinette awkwardly walked in and sat across Tim, on a different sofa. The two sat in silence until Cass and Steph walked in.
"Hiya Marinette," said Steph as she entered while Cass gave her a wave. "Ready to go shopping with us?"
Marinette glanced over at Alfred, who gave her an encouraging nod, before walking towards them.  The two girls ushered her out of the room, waving back at Alfred behind them.
Before they walked out, Marinette said, "I was hoping to make my own clothes, I want to be a fashion designer. I even designed something for Agreste Fashion."
"What? no way, what did you design for Gabriel Agreste?" Steph asked excitedly as she sat beside Marinette.
"Sorry, wait, you designed something for Agreste Fashion?" Tim said as he looked up from his laptop.
Marinette nodded, "Yeah, it was for a competition at school. My design was featured on the front page of a magazine," She took out her phone and showed them the photos of her hat in various stages of production along with the front page with Adrien as the model. Everyone crowded around Marinette's phone to take a look at the hat she designed. "I also embroidery my signature into it, as proof of authenticity." She turned her phone upside down and lo and behold the golden etching spelled her name.
Everyone's jaws dropped, as Marinette's name was spelled clearly in the hat.  The three of them crowded around her phone screen to get a better look.  Marinette was starting to get overwhelmed from their excitement, she took a step back to try to compose herself. Lucky for her, Alfred had stepped in just in time. "Ahem, shall we make our way to the tailor's?"
Tim had decided to join their shopping trip at the last minute, Marinette sat quietly unsure as she hadn't really interacted with him other than mealtimes. Steph and Cass conversed with each other, it was more like Steph doing the talking for both of them.
"So other than fabrics, what else do you need?" Tim asked.
"Um, let's see…" Marinette thought of what she may need, she considered her budget based on the pocket money she brought with her. "Some pencils, a ruler, thread, needle…" she listed.
Tim listened intently, before turning to Alfred. "Alfred, do we have any empty rooms near Marinette's for her to work her dress?"
"Yes, Master Timothy, there is an old unused study near her bedroom," Alfred responded quickly without even taking his eyes off the road.
Shopping at the tailor's became a blur for Marinette, she was introduced to many materials, each with their own pattern. She struggled to decide which to pick as she didn't have inspiration just yet, she was a very long way away from the place in Paris where she used to sit and sketch out  her best ideas. Normally her work would be based on the materials available to her, yet this new found freedom of choice made it hard to pick a specific fabric. At Tim's suggestion, they purchased almost all the fabric available at the shop. Tim even offered to pay for it all, much to Marinette's surprise, she tried to stammer a protest that this was too much but she was cut off by the others.
Next came the tools, she asked for a simple set much like hers back home. A needle and some thread, with some basics like pencils and rulers. Just like earlier, Tim had again purchased all the tools needed, an entire sewing machine, a mannequin, tables, chairs, racks and shelves for all the fabric.
After a long and hectic day of selecting everything she needed to make her dress, that and so much more, she sat in her new workshop in awe.  Her workshop looked like a professional tailor, in fact even better equipped than the tailor she went to earlier that day. She slowly walked around, examining each and everything in the room, Tikki quietly followed behind her. Marinette reached out to touch a piece of the fabric, vicuña wool, the world’s most expensive fabric. Beside it, a large roll of guanaco, she ran her hands through the roll of the finest wool she had ever seen. But at what cost? Perhaps this was their way of showing their support and helping her, at the same time, it felt like she was cheating her way to the top. It felt like a dream come true, she now had a studio beyond her wildest dreams. But at what cost? She now had to make a dress like her life depended on it.

20 questions for fic writers
thanks @annerbhp for the tag! i really enjoyed reading her answers too!
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
215
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
646,705 (average of 3k per fic, which sounds about right)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
stargate atlantis most often, followed by sg-1, various star treks, and the x-files (with other miscellaneous fandoms on demand for exchanges and gifts).
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
No Sooner Met (voyager, janeway/chakotay)
Career Day (sg-1, mini!otp)
Next Chapter (the good place, chidi/eleanor)
First Date (voyager, janeway/chakotay) editor's note: man my title game was weak in my voyager era
Occupational Hazards (the good place, chidi/eleanor)
it's so funny to spend my online time in small or inactive fandoms and look at statistics because i'm like yeah... i'm kind of a big deal... people know me... i have many leather-bound volumes... and not a single one of my fics crack 300 kudos (& very few over 100). the person i reblogged from topped out over 9,000! what's it like to write long fics for popular fandoms? is it cool?
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i do now! and it's awesome! for a long time i was intimidated by praise and had a hard time responding, but my brain works now and i really enjoy exchanging comments that turn into long threads of headcanon back-and-forth and sometimes new friends.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh god PLEASE let me unburden my soul about Twilight (sga, john/elizabeth). it's so uncharacteristically hopeless for me -- far future fic, complicated family dynamics, elizabeth has dementia and john is estranged from their son... really no one is having a good time. i think it's interesting and a cool departure from my usual writing style, but it's also a big sad mess.
i still feel sooooo guilty about these two thousand words of misery that i REGULARLY think about writing a sequel where john and his son fix it with time travel and mend fences. like i lie awake at night worrying about these characters because one time in 2007 i didn't give them a happy ending and suggested john might not break the bad father generational cycle. normal fic writer behavior.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Weaving Loose Ends (sg-1, sam/jack)! i love happy and hopeful endings but i think of all of them, this one is the most resolved and least complicated.
8. Do you get hate on fic?
nope. oh!!!! there was the one time when i caused Big Drama in a corner of the Dancing With The Stars fandom by turning people's headcanons into rpf, which everyone liked until one included porn. people got so heated with each other over this one smut fic (doxing! splinter factions! a fandom schism!) but somehow no one was ever actually mean to me. i didn't even get blocked or banned for my rpf transgressions, i was just standing there at the eye of the storm. so... i guess the answer is still no??
9. Do you write smut?
yes! i should probably write more, though. it has been all slow and gauzy the past few years, somebody should really get railed pretty soon.
10. Do you write crossovers?
nope.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i don't think so. happily toiling in obscurity.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
back in the x-files days i think someone translated some of my doggett/reyes fics for a spanish archive, so those might still be out there.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no i haven't!! i am really not doing well collecting my fic writer girl scout badges here!!
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
john sheppard/elizabeth weir my beloved.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
i have 10k of an sg-1 episode-by-episode soulmate fic that started really strong and i would love to share someday, but i lack staying power so it will surely just go to seed in my dropbox forever!!
16. What are your writing strengths?
hopefully character complexity and dialogue. dialogue is interesting in fanfic, because the dialogue on many TV shows is really different than how real humans speak (it's scripted to be clearer, more concise and direct, uninterrupted, etc), so it's a fun challenge to balance that and get something that sounds both in-character and realistic.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
long fics!
the big related weakness is that i find it incredibly difficult to keep writing on a fic after i show it to anyone (as a sneak peek, or because i want feedback / encouragement / brainstorming help). i lose steam on my own, but posting or inviting other people into the process is like pouring sugar in the gas tank. why is that!! how do i fix this!!!
and i don't know if this is a "writing weakness" or an "egregious personal character flaw" but i sure did finish an exchange fic this year literally forty seconds before reveals, so that's... pretty bad.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
SO SCARY aughhhh my fear of Being Wrong really nukes me here. it doesn't even have to be a real language. it's like the ghost of JRR Tolkein himself is standing over my shoulder telling me that if i don't backwards engineer an entire proto-latinate space language instead of just chucking words into google translate and calling it Ancient i'm committing unpardonable sins.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
star trek! first internet-published fics were x-files, but first limited-print-edition fics were xeroxed hand-bound voyager stories my sister and i would give as "gifts" to family friends (and then stand there staring at them while they read the first few pages and told us how clever and creative we were and promised to "read the rest later").
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
new answer! i have always answered this before with ain't no sunshine (sga, john/elizabeth) or career day (sg-1, mini!otp), but i think i really stuck the landing this year on pieces (sga, john/elizabeth). which, incidentally, is the one i finished forty seconds before reveals so i'm definitely not going to learn anything from that narrow escape.
tagging @ussjellyfish if you haven't already done this one, @coraclavia, @havocthecat, @lonesomehighways, and anyone else who made it through this long post and would like to do it!

Do you respond to comments?
yes

the only thing i can think of that would be angsty towards the end would be Santa Tell Me from my Holiday Bits and Bobs - it was pretty much 1800 words of angst

probably the second hand unwinds - it was one of my hey sweetheart fics and is pretty much just shy of 3700 words of alex being a sap (and the boys being cute girl!dads)
Do you get hate on fics?
um not hate - but recently a weird 'that couldn't have happened cuz of yada yada' kind of comment
Do you write smut?

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i had always planned go back and do more for my darcy/clint fic and make it into a series, but those ideas that got written down lamented away in a doc and are gone now lol
What are your writing strengths?
um....i don't know do i have these - i can write smut fairly well
What are your writing weaknesses?
i usually hafta go back and make sure i didn't just get uber prose-y and included enough dialogue - unless i'm doing it on purpose
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
cool if it works for the character - i really like when there's a translation somewhere - unless it's obvious what it means
First fandom you wrote in?
wrote in and posted somewhere - HP - followed closely by Idol RPF - i dabbled in other things that never got posted tho b4 that (the usuals for any 'lil geeky girl - star wars, star trek, angel, buffy
Favorite fic you've written?
idk - maybe something in your mouth cuz it just came togther so quickly and was fun to write (even if i intially thought it was gonna be smuttier lolz) or maybe my silly lil fairytale baby just say yes that topped out over 20k it's my first RWRB actual AU posted that wasn't just a small ficlet
alright so few quick tags to: @typicalopposite @adreamareads @inexplicablymine @stellarm
@sophie1973 @suseagull04 @hgejfmw-hgejhsf @itsmaybitheway

Sons of wisdom by darkmagyk
'Bruce has always known he’s meant for war.
As a son of Athena, the gods probably think he’s meant for their war.
They are wrong.'
Bruce Wayne is a Demigod. It changes absolutely everything. It changes almost nothing.
-
The ship of Theseus by zipadeea
“What do you think of the Waynes?” Percy had asked Annabeth the week before. “Seems like they’re in Gotham’s headlines all the time, and not always for great reasons. You think they’re involved with the mob or something?”
“The opposite, actually,” Annabeth had replied, a wry smile on her face.
“What’s the opposite of the mob?”
“In Gotham? What do you think?”
Percy’s eyes had widened. “No. No way. Bruce Wayne is such a goof, there’s no way--,”
“Wouldn’t that be the best cover, though?”
***
Poseidon once told Percy he was his favorite son.
But he's not the only one.

Oh my Gods by siren_of_the_ocean
Tim Drake is a demigod in the Battle of Manhattan. He sends Thalia to inform the Justice league about well…Everything. And Kon is concerned.

Toil and trouble by silverbird6
The air was thick with magic, so similar to the Mist and yet much more…chaotic. It pulled at the strands of Hazel’s hair and clutched at her mind, trying to convince her she was Betsy, a member of the neighborhood women's club and was very interested in making sure the town talent show went off without a hitch. Hazel was more concerned with the way she seemed to lose time every once in a while and wake up in a strange house, usually cooking or cleaning or tending to the garden.
After the events of Avengers Endgame, Hazel follows some unusual magic to the small town of Westview.
-
The File by denimbeans
The elevator dinging was probably the best sound Hazel had ever heard. Thanking the Gods for Leo and his well thrown screwdriver hitting the button, she had rushed to the Doors.
Clytius got there first.
When a body had collapsed on the threshold, Hazel almost felt like throwing up. It was Percy, it had to be, but…Gods of Olympus, he looked horrible. His hair was longer than she remembered, matted and streaked with blood. His clothes were torn and coated with golden dust. His skin looked like somebody had sucked the life out of it.
-
Can I Write 'Tried to rob Tony Stark' on My Resume? by hyperInactive
Percy was at least happy that this wasn't a prophecy. Stealing back some demigod weapons from a mortal? Sure, Iron Man was a superhero and a genius, but after dealing with Gaea, that was nothing. They just had to steer clear of anyone who might recognize them, and they were positive that they could pull it off easier than most of their quests. And potentially land Leo a job, while they're at it.
But Percy should have known better. Nothing is ever that simple for a demigod.
-
The Battle of New York... the SECOND Battle of New York by Variscite
The Seven (plus Nico and Will) fight in the Battle of New York with the Avengers.
This is set after the Trials of Apollo, so if you haven’t read that you’ll get pretty major spoilers, just a heads up.
ROUND TWO ADDITION:
Ancient History, Modern Times by tearsofsaudade
Clint was the first one to notice the kid, maybe sixteen or seventeen years old, wearing an old blue hoodie over a faded orange shirt and sitting cross-legged on a bench in Central Park eating a sandwich.  All normal things for teenage boys to be doing.  He shook his head and brushed black hair out of his face as he took another bite, completely unconcerned.
Meanwhile, Thor flew two feet in front of him at the speed of sound as a giant robot flung him away from the fight happening literally right in front of the bench.
Or: Percy Jackson meets different Avengers because he's doing things he shouldn't be doing. As usual.
-
And Death Won't Come Knocking by icewhisper
The history books remember Steve Rogers as the son of an Irish immigrant, but the people who saw him every summer remember him as Greek.

Fanfic Tag Game
Ayyy, @krankittoeleven, thanks for tagging! Love these little lists!
1. How many fics do you have on AO3?
34! (I used to write in two languages, but for this game i count only the English ones)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
295,814... (~1.5 times more words than "Fellowship of the Ring" by JRR Tolkien *sweating*)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Totally obsessed with Assassin's Creed (Valhalla in particular), but also have some WIPs for Cyberpunk 2077.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Right Behind You (Witcher 3), a piece about epic friendship & love between Geralt of Rivia and the absolute husband material Emiel Regis
10 years apart, no more (AC Valhalla), a fix-it for the fLicKEriNg flame nonsense (if you know you know...)
Shall We? (AC Syndicate), another fix-it that makes Maxwell Roth survive the fire as there's no fire at all
The Truth (The Wolf Among Us), about shaky relationship between the Big Bad Wolf and the Woodsman (i'm so surprised it made it to the top-5!!)
In the Belly of the Beast (AC Valhalla), about Ivarr Ragnarsson eating the forbidden Saxon fruit while no one is watching hehe
5. Do you respond to comments?
Of course! Can't leave them hanging there in silence!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Usually, I don't do sad endings, but the most bitter-sweet one is Pebble (Dragon Age: Inquisition) about a kossith who cuts his massive horns off to look more like a human so he could follow his lover to the city where kossith race isn't welcome :c Although I don't think his lover would let him go there anyway......
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Haha every other one :D But Sun, Rum and Gunpowder (AC Black Flag) has the happiest and the most carefree vibes whatsoever!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not on the fics, but the ships! I just delete those because why is it an author's problem suddenly that some people don't know how filters work??
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Oh, I sure do ;> It's not extremely explicit (no holes in sight, but dicks and balls can be spotted) and is mostly focused on emotions and dialogues.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Nope, but I write AUs sometimes to spice things up! Modern days AUs are the bane of my existence, and still... somehow... I keep making them...
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, but I noticed my lines and phrases in the stories of fellow writers. I appreciate it!!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah!! Out of all possible fics, it was The Remnants of a Ruined Past, a Mad Max (the game!) story translated into Polish. Love it lots!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Never as i am incapable to work in groups haha. I did some challenges though, such as picking a theme and writing something small with a fren to compare the results later. It's very fun and helps to keep your brain gears spinning!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Like, the one and only ship that I could bring along if I was stuck on a desert island? Or the one I don't even write for anymore but carry in my heart daily? The former would be Hawke x Varric (Dragon Age 2) because they're a comfort ship with many possibilities for plots. The latter is Ezio x Leonardo (AC II + Brotherhood + Revelations) and Arthur x Eames (Inception) because they started it all hehe.
15. What’s a fic you’d like to finish but don’t think you ever will?
It's a compilation of drabbles written for a very niche CGI Resident Evil movie (Damnation) & very rare pair that i was planning to continue for as long as the planet keeps spinning, but got overwhelmed with the amount of ideas I had in mind :c
16. What are your writing strengths?
Humor and dialogues!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Everything el– 🥲 Deep character studies, believable politics and fights.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
A big yes from me, it ads depth and character when used correctly. Also, it's very interesting to keep an evening reading about the language you're planning to use, even it's for a few simple words.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
It was an attempt to mimic Marie Corelli and write a ficlet for her novel "The Sorrows of Satan". And then Assassin's Creed took my soul and I've never seen it since! Kinda ironic, huh...
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I'm gonna cheat bc I'm quite proud about Beautiful Decline, a series of four fics written for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It's an enormous project that was never meant to break out from its confinements and produce three more stories lmao.
Tagging @firefly-partyn and @krankittoeleven if you wanna join!

20 questions for fic writers, J7 edition
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 15
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 90,585
3. What fandoms do you write for? Star Trek, mostly Voyager, some cross-over into Picard and TNG.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Four times she denies you and the one time she doesn't. What happens if our ladies have their shit together and mutual attraction trumps stupid little issues, like Starships to run.
Slowly, then all at once a collection of moments, big and small, painting the picture of two women, learning and growing together, falling for each other slowly, then all at once.
Things that Fall What happens from the first time your heart feels full until you finally let yourself fall? An exploration in 12 vignettes.
The Space in Between  Seven is a precious baby-queer, Kathryn is in denial, B'Elanna is the friend we all need (and a fun play-mate to Kathryn).
I'm a little tied up right now My attempt at rectifying the severe lack of prehensile-plant fics in the J7 fandom...
5. Do you respond to comments? Sometimes, when I don't get too in my head about how to respond...
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hands down definitely They're In Love, Where Am I?
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics have a happy ending... For finished fics I think I'd go with autumn is a second spring, including WIPs I think home is a moment in time has the most momentous happy ending so far.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Nope!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes. Depends on the what the story needs - sometimes soft and emotional, but I also have some more kinky BDSM fics. And sometimes they mix, just like in real life...
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Within the Star Trek universe, yes (ask me about the polycule, I dare you!). Not crazy by any standards, but a fun little drabble has the biggest crossover: Come to Quarks, Quarks is Fun (...they said)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of...
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?  No, I don't think so.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, not yet.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? NCC-1701 will always be my first love, but Voyager is hot af. (half-kidding. It's J7. Hands down.)
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The Janeway & Riker Chronicles. In my mind he hit on her once and got bitchslapped so hard he worships her to this day. They end up being thick as thieves and getting into all kinds of trouble with each other. There's traces of this in some of my fics, but I doubt I'll ever actually write it.
16. What are your writing strengths? Flow, emotionality, little details, switching POVs
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Brevity, Punctuation, getting lost in the characters' mental space too much
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Sure, why not. But not if you can't speak the language/have someone to help with translation.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Star Trek Voyager | Janeway/Seven
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? I think I'll always be especially fond of my first one (Things that Fall) and the most recent one - just because the idea wouldn't let me go for three years (home is a moment in time) - but I Will Follow Where You Lead has a special place in my heart - because of the challenge of it and the fact that it started a new relationship tag.
Tagging: Thank you for the tag, @curator-on-ao3! If you see this, consider yourself tagged - because I just know I probably forgot to tag someone. Also, to the amazing writers I got to meet here: @moonxshape @jennyandvastraflint @femslash-universe @notdeannatroi @queenology @katerinadeannika @waknatious @stardatextoday @problematick @captainkatie42 @angstbotfic @ussjellyfish @evilwickedme

fic writer interview
(tagged by @sunriseverse, tysm for the tag!! 💙 posting on my sideblog because it feels like the right place for this sort of rambling.)
How many works do you have on AO3? 10 (plus the one i orphaned, which still has my username attached). one is fanart. i'm... a very irregular writer.
What’s your total AO3 word count? 32,694 words (i do mean a very irregular writer lol).
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1) snow and repetitions of snow (elder scrolls) (169) 2) no takebacks (mysterious lotus casebook) (126) 3) a light that does not flicker (elder scrolls) (85) 4) what's in a name? (mysterious lotus casebook) (78) 5) to gravity and the unknown (elder scrolls) (50) the actual most-kudosed work of mine is the Accursed Orphan, red oni, blue oni (tensei shitara slime datta ken) with 2202 (oh god). it really, really wasn't my best work, i stopped following the canon when i got bored with the plot, and the constant stream of kudos emails started to get on my nerves, hence the orphaning.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? i try my best to! that said there are a lot of unanswered comments from periods where i just couldn't keep up with life. i appreciate each and every one though! i swear i'll get around to them someday 😭
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? i tend to write bittersweet more than outright angsty. maybe snow and repetitions of snow, featuring two shitty stubborn wizards who are on-again off-again exes/enemies with benefits. it ends on them realizing that their ideals and personalities are irreconcilable and yet they cherish each other regardless. sometimes it just be that way!
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? no takebacks is very short but given that it undoes a major character death and ends with a sort-of marriage proposal: probably that one. sometimes you just gotta write fluff to soothe the soul.
Do you write crossovers? not really. occasional crossover cameos can be fun, but overall they don't interest me a ton? i much prefer fusion AUs, but i don't often write them; perhaps because my stuff tends to be shorter and more intensely character-focused than setting-focused.
Have you ever received hate on a fic? not openly. if anyone's hating on my fics in private that's their prerogative lmao.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? occasionally! there's one explicit fic on my account and numerous WIPs that may or may not ever see the light of day. "porn with feelings" is probably the best description for the stuff i tend to write. sometimes the characters are trying very hard to ignore those feelings but they're still there. (shout out to the one lin chen/mei changsu WIP in my folder which is Very Much That.)
Have you ever had a fic stolen? not to my knowledge. i tend to write for small fandoms and rare pairs so i'm probably not high on the radar for that sort of thing?
Have you ever had a fic translated? yes! snow and repetitions of snow was translated into mandarin, i'm very happy that someone liked my fic enough to do so :)
Have you ever co-written a fic before? not yet, though i've done illustrations for big bang fics in the past, and RP'd and created shared AU verses with friends. actual co-writing isn't something i've done, but the idea is intriguing! (that said, i'm extremely flakey and wouldn't wish myself as a co-writer upon anyone.)
What’s your all-time favorite ship? "all-time" is a pretty broad category, wow. in terms of sheer volume of fics i've bookmarked though mei changsu/xiao jingyan are absolutely destroying the competition, no contest. in terms of "currently rent-free in my brain" i am frantically paddling this XJY/MCS/LC rareship against the current.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? (gestures vaguely at my entire folder of WIPs. weeps loudly.) tbh talking too much about my WIPs or even giving them a serious title until they're most-of-the-way finished feels like giving them the kiss of death. i'm not superstitious but i'm like a little stitious, you know?
What are your writing strengths? given that my entire writing process feels kind of like banging my head against a wall while crying: hard to say! i'm told i'm good with conveying tension though. in terms of characterization, insufferable theatrical magnificent bastards.
What are your writing weaknesses? long plotty fic and me are not friends. my pacing can be a bit mood whiplash-y at times. i abuse italics and semicolons like they're going out of fashion.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? depends on the cultural context of the canon, the purpose for doing so, etc... like pretty much anything else, it can be used to good effect, or it can be really grating. i think things like honorifics and terms that don't have a good 1:1 english translation are pretty much fine.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? idk probably some pokemon OC thing when i was like ten years old? in terms of fic completed and posted online, elder scrolls.
What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? (shoving numerous WIPs back into my folder) does NiF count? i haven't finished anything for it yet... in terms of canons i haven't touched at all, maybe sha po lang. i read the entire thing in one long weekend while house-sitting for a friend and i'm still not sure if it was good or if it just hit all my kinks just right, but either way there's probably something to work with here.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? it's also a WIP (mostly written, just lacking a solid ending) and it's utter self-indulgent nonsense designed to appeal to no one but me but: i'm very fond of how to deflower your martial brother (wo jia dashixiong naozi you keng). hanahaki disease, fucky shixiong/shidi relations, horrible pun in the title: these are a few of my favourite things.
tagging! @shararan @strandedchesspiece @foxofninetales @sinni-ok-sessi @junemermaid @melodious-tear @thebansacredbanned and anyone else who's interested (no pressure ofc!)

Calling all rarepair/crackshippers
Got a weird one for y'all, but in between the completion of this bracket and the preparation for the next one (because I have officially been told to chill about the next bracket while the first one is still running) I want to run a 'these characters never met/interacted but they would be so good together' mini bracket.
I've got 8-9 possible ships now, ranging from Thirteen/River Song to Thirteen/Miss Frizzle with stops at like Chessy (Parent Trap)/Miss Honey (Matilda) and Snow Queen/Maleficent. The goal is to hit 16 to keep the bracket actually small and quick, but I need more ships for that. And finding rarepairs is, by definition, hard to do.
The criteria mostly follows the regular bracket criteria, except this time for characters that never interact. Crossovers are fine, pretty much all media types are fine, absolutely random is fine. Whatever you want as long as both characters are female identifying (we are not misgendering anyone on my watch), either both adults or both high schoolers (no teacher/student pairs), both appeared in whatever canon at least 5 years ago, and there are no scenes with them together. If there's fic/fanart of them together, that's great.
If you know an artist who would be willing to let their work for the pairing be used in the bracket image (with credit and a reblog of the original post) then that's even better. I'd love to use fanart for as many ships as possible, but if I can't contact an artist to get permission then screenshots from their shows will work.
If you've got ideas, feel free to reply to this post or drop me an ask with the ship you're thinking. Anon is on!

heya!! ❤️I'm +25NB looking for canonxcanon mxm Bungo Stray Dogs or Jujutsu Kaisen rps, over discord, with a +21 partner. crossovers also welcome!
I'm especially fixated on writing Chuuya atm but also muse Megumi (preferably college age). I'm very flexible with who I write them against, with a small preference for the following ships:
Bungo Stray Dogs
Dazai x Chuuya
Verlaine x Chuuya
Jujutsu Kaisen
Gojo x Megumi
Sukuna x Megumi
Toji x Megumi
Poly Sukuna x Megumi x Yuji
I write in third person, past-tense, multi-paragraph style and aim to reply at least every other day. very NSFW/kink/dead 🕊️ friendly and down for a lotta weird things, but also very respectful of your limits! my muses are typically switches and I'd like to write them against tops or other switches. they'll be active participants in the toxicity regardless of who's in control
right now I'm most interested in writing spicy AU plots including themes of forced proximity, enemies to lovers, codependency, lots of witty banter, power struggles, and mutual manipulation (+ optional omegaverse). give me problematic assholes that love each other (eventually) but are terrible for/to each other!! I love anything fantasy or supernatural based that includes physical dependencies in addition to emotional ones (think: vampire/human). I've got a few ideas rolling around in my noggin depending on who you'd like to write and would love to build up something neat together! I'll write anything from epic fantasy slowburns to raunchy pwp
ooc chat is much loved and encouraged!! let's plot, scheme, share fanart, make a playlist, etc etc. my muses may be spiky but I'm soft and friendly uwu
thanks so much for reading, please like if interested!
Leave a like, and anon will get back to you!

Fic author interview - tagged by @elwing. i think the mutuals who would be have been tagged but if a follower and wants to answer this, use me as your excuse.
1- How many works do you have on AO3?
80
2- What's your total AO3 word count?
287,637
3- What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Whatcha Gonna Call It? wins by a landslide with 268 kudos, 2. Tears, 147 kudos, 3. The Brides of Death, 111 kudos, 4. Book of Hours, 91 kudos, 5. Hold Fast Ere Night Comes, 85 kudos
4- Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to reply to all of them, though sometimes I can't offer much more than a thank you.
5- What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
ooh, that might be difficult. Since one of my favorite things to write is 'death of an elf', but I always have in the back of my head that for 99% of these cases the elf in question will eventually be healed, reborn, and reunited, even if the fic ends on angst the knowledge that this isn't final lessens the angst, at least for me. But my other constant well into which I am dipping is Aegnor/Andreth, which has a less certain and far more distant proposed rebirth reunion. And Kinslaying from the Teleri perspective. In its own way, The Swanships has the most fridge-horror delayed angst ending because the fic is building up what these objects mean, their source of community and safety, and ends right before they are going to be permanently destroyed right when most needed. Of the various Tol-in-Gaurhoth fics, every single one ends on or right before the death of the focal character, so it's a tossup on which one is the angstiest. It's down to what flavor of death seems saddest, the futile hope of Pins, the anger of Filial Piety, the despair of Take Thy Brother's Hand and the mental break in Kingfisher... Or the Hithlum fics- the stuff with Mornacu is really angsty and the happy ending reunion more delayed than anybody but canon Aegnor/Andreth.
Let's take the cop-out and pick one of the Andreth fics, and tie it between The Ring and Blood on Bone for a Lover's Burial.
6- What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Okay so there are pure fluff fics that I've written. They exist!
But I think in the spirit of this question, for a single fic, it has to be Release from Bondage because the final chapters are all about how the horror of Angband is defeated and the main couple admit their feelings and get to now live in freedom and paradise. With the coda of Our Lady of Canine Compassion because what is happier than an abused dog warg also getting reborn and adopted into a happy home as a pampered toy dog named Cuddles
7- Do you write crossovers?
....YES and no. Fusions. feels like 50% of the time the fic is that variation of a crossover where the characters and/or plot or even just small details are directly inspired to the point of an AU, but these are never pure crossovers of canon interactions.
8- Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Got into an argument in the comments of one fic but never hate. At least not for the fics themselves.
9- Do you write smut?
Tiptoe around it and some very light smut in the finale for Release from Bondage. One day I'll copy over the smutty paragraphs to Ao3.
Then there's everything with "Cold/Baby Shower". Which never gets fully explicit but is overloaded with D/s vibes and is basically a porn with plot fic that censor blurs the actual porn. And Baby Shower is the "millisecond post-climax" fic.
10- Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
11- Have you ever had a fic translated?
Twice by the same person I think. Howl and Whatcha Gonna Call It? were both translated into Russian for two collections or challenges.
12- Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No
13- What's your all-time favorite ship?
Well, discounting original characters, looking at my fics it should be obvious that in canon it's Aegnor/Andreth, with some Theon/Jeyne
14- What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I tell myself that I'll finish or get to all the fics. For a long time Warpath home was one I wasn't sure about but now that I know how I want to expand out Faron's angle and tie into the Author Findis, it has a better chance.
OII is the one that I scream at myself for lost inspiration/drive to write and the one that will be most stubborn about because of the scope - esp because the parts I want to write about and the parts that need to be written/that readers want don't always align.
15- What are your writing strengths?
I think when I nail my descriptive prose it reals sells itself. And I usually find writing both action and dialogue to be easy.
16- What are your writing weaknesses?
It's hard for me to plot out and write multi-chaptered fic and commit to finishing those in a reasonable time frame. My sentence structures can get convoluted and dropping articles for clauses, some of which is reflective of my manner of speech which in itself is partially dependent on dialect - I know some features would be damn obvious if I was reading what I wrote out-loud and y'all heard that Texan drawl. Also my character voices and personalities aren't as distinctive as someone to whom that was their strength would be.
17- What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I dislike it if it's more than a phrase or two and if it's more than a sentence I start to dislike it, because it makes reading comprehension extremely difficult on the readers and ruins the flow. And the POV- if the character understands the second language they would be at least partially translating and if they don't they wouldn't discern the words. Better to describe the dialogue than transcribe it untranslated in the body of a fic. Written text in-universe I give more leeway. Authors' notes are an excellent place to put the untranslated text.
18- What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Fanfic? Tolkien
19- What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
ASoIaF proper maybe, or Star Wars. Not just a fusion. Well, the ASoIaF would just be writing out that silly modern AU or maybe the Selyse constantly trying to assassinate Robert.
20- What's your favorite fic you've written?
uuuuh. Let's got with In Need of a Cold Shower.
