BUGGY HEADCANONS

Wrote this on a whim when I remembered how much I liked this guy 😎

Buggy stans, assemble!!

I love buggy and I don’t talk about it enough

but like he needs more screen time

he has a decent amount I just wanna see him more :)

onto hcs!

buggy is a guy who wants to be confident but isn’t so he fakes it but you can tell

at first he’s just as phony towards you but as time goes on he opens up to you

you try to convince him he can be himself around everyone, especially his own crew he but still thinks he has to put on a show

its what he does best afterall!

buggy is subtly physical affectionate, for example, resting his hand on your waist

or putting a hand on your head

him being more flashy would be giving you a big kiss

he dips you and makes a “mmmmwah!” sound so you know it’s for show when in public

other times he does it to be playful

Another grand love gesture he does is sit you on his lap or shoulder

the man’s got some good muscle so he can hold you not matter your weight 💗

He likes make a game or show out of a lot of things you do for fun

he won’t do it if it bothers you

but he makes you laugh so much how can you not like it??

buggy doesn’t really like anyone seeing him without paint/makeup on

he gets up like really early, around 4-5 to do it

he doesn’t even want you to see very often

he says he doesn’t feel ‘buggy’ without it

ngl cabaji and mohji are wonder how buggy bagged you?? 🤨🤨

buggy always talks to you before bed.

he like, caresses your hair and whispers in your ear

he’s not tryna do it in a suggestive way

like in a way where he’s trying to comfort you or lull you to sleep

“I wish I coulda been there to punch that sucker in the face. you did not deserve that.” /

“That’s good honey, why don’t you go ahead and get yourself some sleep?”

“What about me? Oh sugar don’t worry about me, you just go ahead and get some shuteye”

he kisses you atop your head as you two snuggle up and fall asleep

YOU GUYS ARE SUCH A CUTE COUPLE

just for the record it took a WHILE before buggy got that smooth 😊

like he had to get comfy in the relationship before he could even think to say any of that without cringing at himself

at first he was a lowkey stuttering, blushing mess

buggy enjoys if you help him wash his hair, especially the part where you massage his scalp 😍

he loves it,

it’s his favorite part

if you wanna do his makeup tho..😗

your gonna need the rest of the crew to pitch in on a plan to capture all of buggy’s separated limbs for that one 😋

anyway buggy’s main love languages are physical touch

because it’s easy to display his love for you

and sometimes he would make a show out of it ;)

because I mean he just oh so loves to serve his sweet darlin’!

he lives for it even!

he lives to bring people joy and laughter from his shows

why would that be any different, especially with you??

and gift giving too

this is mostly for if he has a more so materialistic/superficial s/o

who likes the luxurious life and being pampered

or he might just get you stuff to see that big ol’ smile of yours 💛

he may be a coward sometimes

but he’s always a man in the sense of being a gentleman

It happens a lot but he gets really upset when his crew ruins what was supposed to be a romantic date for you

like picture it: everything’s going well

your dressed up and feel confident and buggy is too

you both sit down at a private reservation to a restaurant he rented

he takes your hands and kisses them as you both giggle and stare at each other, with hearts practically in your eyes

then the waiter comes in :)

*sniff sniff* “what..can I get you?..” 😢

”CABAJI?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE WHERES THE WAITER??”

”well you said do anything possible to rent this place since we didn’t have enough money..*sniff* so we had to sell Richie” 😭😭😭

”ARE YOU SERIOUS?! SO WHERES THE STAFF??”

”well you said you were renting it out so they thought you needed it for a party or something..not for a date” *sniffles*

buggy was practically on FIRE 😂

all bro wanted was a romantic date

but instead he had to go search for a LION 🤦‍♀️

Well you spent the rest of your day tracking down the restaurant staff and richie

and trust me that was a hassle

Everyone was tired and ready to give up but cabaji kept begging and crying

eventually you found the restaurant staff!…..forming they’re own circus..with richie..who was also crying

you had to fight the staff to get richie back

and they were unexpectedly strong

yeah at the end of the day you and buggy were tired and went to be early

he keeps it in his notes never to ask his crew to help him with a date again..

i feel buggy would really like receiving massages

like back/shoulder ones specifically

rub some lotion in his back and that’s the ultimate way to calm a angry buggy 💗

he really appreciates when you do this

he’ll return the favor too

more likely to come in the form of gifts than another massage

but if you state that’s how you’d like to be repaid he wouldn’t mind at all

in fact he’d be quite good at giving massages

especially since he can simply separate a hand or too so he can continue to manage his crew 💖

buggy likes to put you in his acts

He teaches you everything he knows and is really proud of you when you impress the crowd or master a skill

he’s very supportive and patient in that sense

and when I say the word ‘patience’ is reserved for you I mean it

he prioritizes you a lot even if he can’t afford the L he’s about to take in order to impress you

refer back to the failed date where he couldn’t actually rent the restaurant

and don’t get me wrong buggy isn’t broke or anything

it’s just he gets expensive when pampering you

like buying you lavish resorts, cruises and any other thing you could possibly want

he thinks you higher than him, better.

And in a attempt to get you to stay he gives you reasons!

lavish dates! Comfort! Happiness and laughter!

a part of him thinks you’d leave if he didn’t do those things

that you wouldn’t love him for just him and that it must be for the show

later on in the relationship when he explains that’s how he feels and opens up to you

you’ll definitely reassure and correct him about your love for him

that you’d love him even if he was a bum, nobody and total loser

he tries not to tear up but he’s tearing up

btw if you don’t like being in the spotlight/stage

he doesn’t mind :)

will occasionally try to push you out of your shell—

“your a star baby! Your meant to shine!”

”people would love you! You should at least try!”

—but he won’t force you <3

he’ll give you a front row seat to his acts and look for you to see if your smiling/laughing during the big act/climax of the show

he definitely values your opinion way over other’s and a lot of the time even his own

even more so if your intelligent

he might ask you to at least be a volunteer for his acts even if you prefer to be in the crowd

and you accept sometimes, to make him happy 😊

or maybe you work backstage!

like on spotlight or curtains!

maybe you made the props, if your an artist you may have painted them!

He compliments you on it too!

That line about katherine being a myth and a legend sounded ooc coming from kai katherine already is a overrated villain and we are supposed to believe he would have this respect for her over bonnie who killed the devil when all katherine did was use her whims to manipulate cade they had kai there why not just make him the villain over katherine

No clue why they decided to juggle Kai and Katherine at the same time as villains 😭 .They were a weird mashup imo

Though I think maybe they paired Kai and Katherine up on purpose to try and divert attention away from Kai x Bonnie, sort of like a "hey everyone look what about these two instead" -and certain people definitely ate that pairing up.

Kai and Katherine have pretty big personalities, Katherine's kind of a narcissist and Kai's...well, Kai. Even though they're both antagonists who are at odds with the MFG, doesn't mean they would get along and be this perfect pair, though it seemed that maybe that's what the writers wanted us to think about those two.

In fact, I think Kai's dynamic with Katherine would be a bit like his dynamic with Damon (not when they made Damon and Kai buddy buddy for no reason but like their initial dynamic through season 6) -like on paper Damon and Kai kinda seem similar in that they have a "devil may care" attitude, they can be tricky and they've got murderous tendencies. But they did not get along/ like each other.

Damon and Kai both like the sound of their own voice too much, they both like to be the one to be in control of a situation, -so it makes much more sense they'd likely be annoyed by eachother /dislike each other -so their season 6 dynamic made much more sense than when the writers switched it up to make them besties.

(In season 6 Kai and Damon seemed to best case scenario- only tolerate eachother or be sort of indifferent to eachother, there were also times they were outright annoyed/ hostile to eachother, also seemed like Kai said certain things on purpose in order to provoke a reaction from Damon and get him riled up- and it always seemed to work too lmaooo, I think Kai definitely knew how to push Damons buttons, it was light work for him lol -tho let's be honest Damon isn't know for his restraint)

--- I think Kai's dynamic with Katherine would also be sort of similar to this.

Also find it funny they tried to make Kai have some sort of relationship to other characters in season 8 -and imo they did not make sense for his character/ progression. Just seemed like they were avoiding having him interact with Bonnie as much as they possibly could.

Azul Ashengrotto:

Azul didn’t realize he would be dealing with another Floyd. While Floyd’s mood swings are certainly worse to deal with, he’s not quite sure that your impulsive behavior is any better for his heart. He generally sighed at your antics but played it off like it was just to be expected, always keeping up airs and pretending absolutely nothing wonky was happening around him. He thinks your impulsivity has its benefits if you work along with him but he can’t exactly expect you to stick to a plan, so he had to account for any wild journey’s you might go on if he includes you in a scheme.

Kalim Al-Asim:

Kalim thinks you have great fun energy, so you’re more the bane of Jamil’s existence than your boyfriends. He always cheers you on as he sees you as practically invincible with all the things you pull, though jumping out a window is one that might raise some alarm even for him. As long as you’re not hurt you can always count on Kalim’s laughter to ring through your ears, asking how you managed to do that so quickly without the use of magic. He’s tempted to try some impulsive acts himself but he’s normally stopped by his common sense (Jamil) before he can do much.

Leona Kingscholar:

Leona appreciated the endless entertainment you brought him while his worry for your well-being is a little more subtle. He’s not really in the business of controlling you but he has learned your tells, knowing exactly when you were thinking of doing something reckless. He’ll normally warn you that it’s not a good idea or tell you to think twice about your next move but your actions are ultimately your own responsibility. If you cause someone else problems, he’ll find it funny though.

Riddle Rosehearts:

You stress Riddle out beyond belief. Falling for someone so impulsive had not been on his bucket list but he seemed stuck with his decision, as nothing you did could quite offset how his heart yearned for you. At least his first reaction to your stunts is always concern as he thoroughly checked you over for any wounds, frowning as he poked and prodded at more sensitive areas of your bones to double-check they were strong as could be before he gives you a severe tongue lashing. If you wanted to be in the sky then simply go to flying class where you could do so safely!

Vil Schoenheit:

Vil is a little frustrated with your actions but as long as you don’t ruin your clothes, hair, or make-up he doesn’t scold you super harshly. He would prefer that you learn to curb your reckless behavior or at least realize when the right time to act in a surprising manner is, but he supposed your unpredictability is what attracted him to you. You were an interesting person overall but that doesn’t mean Vil will let you jump out of windows at your own whim, keeping a bit of a ‘leash’ on you during times he especially needed you to behave.

I would deadass mean a lot to me if it was made canon that Willy, Ron and Scary all have aspd/npd/autisim. Like the(largely accidental)rep would be so great in my opinion.

I fully believe Ron also has npd but unlike Willy he had somewhat of a support system through his mother and later the dads.

Scary fundamentally struggles with empathy and connecting emotionally with others. As much as the "lol I'm an angsty teen girl who's a mean loser" is like a joke, its sorta played too over the top to not be indicative of something else here.

Even as a autistic child I knew there was something "wrong" about me. I felt out of step with reality and often that no one actually could understand me.

Scary is constantly trying to connect and then failing in a way that I actually think is really similar to Willy.

I always interpreted the Fishing Scene as Willy legitimately being like "uhhg ok what do dads do?? They take their sons fishing????" Willy was very loosely trying to be a "person" and the second it went wrong he gave up immediately and just went back to the solution that's worked for him since he was a kid dealing with annoyance/harm.

Repeatedly there are these moments where Scary, very awkwardly is attempting to connect/mask and be a part of the group and works for like 10 seconds and then she can't keep the jig up and goes back to her normal/natural behaviors. Specifically I think the DnD game is a good example of this for her. Its really common for people like us to have this tbh sorta irrational belief that we know the "right way to have fun". Travis McElroy actually talked about how his npd would often make him genuinely frustrated at his family during Graduation because they weren't playing it right and he would have to stop, think, and remember " oh I'm not the ultimate authority for fun and other ppl can play however they want"(did he actually do that? No, but still he's trying I guess)

When I was a kid I'd get mad at my brother for adding toy cars to our fantasy games cuz cars don't belong in dragons and princess political dramas and my mom would literally tell a 6 year old me "u know this is why no one plays with u at school right?" Absolutely devastating but she was right lol.

Scary being controlling and weird and saying no constantly during her game is such peak npd/autistic behavior. She thinks that her way is the "correct" and "fun" way to play and gets frustrated when they won't play right. And the worse part is that she's very clearly trying so hard here. This is uncomfortable and difficult for her to be vulnerable and open like this. But she can't seem to do it right and the end result is everyone playing without her. Once again proving in her mind that No One Understands her and that she's Alone.

Scary can't mask or connect in her own neurodivergent way and she's literally being left out. Her sense of empathy and right/wrong is slightly off from everyone else's and more often then not Link or Normal's reaction to that is to call her bad or just get(rightfully)angry at her for not being able to understand something that is literally not able to come to her naturally like everyone else.

Or maybe its just really funny for Scary to be a over the top emo teen and for Ron to be unhinged lunatic who will say the most hurtful and deranged shit of a whim. Lol its sorta difficult to apply this deep analysis cuz how much of this is Beth genuinely giving us character information and how much is it "oh wouldn't it be funny if I said who's ur daddy tho" and I'm supposed to just laugh and not go on a iasip style conspiracy on Ron's brain

not intentionally!! i was never really into wtnv tbh, but from the little i know about it might kind of work as a reference tho?

in my heart this fic is called library fic... basically it's an au where seb works at a library in a small town! but there's something Weird going on with the weather....

There’s something strange going on with the weather.

Sebastian’s been noticing it for a while now, the way it will change at the blink of an eye, from rain to sun and then back to rain again. Or the thick fog that sometimes rolls through their tiny town and then clears away just as quickly. And then there was that random hail storm the other week.

It’s June. It should not be hailing in June.

He can’t wrap his head around it. The obvious answer would be climate change, but even that is starting to make less sense as time goes on and the weird weather persists. What’s even more frustrating is that no one else seems to be too bothered about it.

He’s determined to get to the bottom of it.

he of course doesn't work at the library alone! there's kimi and there's lily (and lily's boyfriend alex who doesn't work there but is there whenever lily is) and then. there's also charles:)

And then there’s Charles, who- well.

When Charles had first started, Seb thought he was a bit. Weird. Awkward, in the way he always laughed at the things Seb said, even if they weren’t jokes, and when Seb did tell a joke it would go right over his head. He’s warmed up a bit, since then, found his footing. He’s a good guy, really, even if he sometimes makes Seb question his own sanity.

(yeah it's a cheb fic. are any of us really surprised?)

((there's also lewis who's a primary school teacher who brings his class to the library every tuesday and brings seb some organic honey from his husband valtteri's farm))

but yeah. there's something up with the weather. it changes almost as if on a whim. it'll be a a grey and rainy day and then suddenly the clouds will part in a matter of seconds and the sun is shining and the birds are singing. i'm not gonna tell u what is actually up with the weather in CASE i finish this... i do love the idea & the little universe i've created inside my head.... have a last little snippet!

He gets a notebook. On the first page he writes Weather Watch, and then immediately scribbles over it, thinking it sounds a bit silly. This isn’t silly; it’s a very serious investigation into a very serious problem. He opts for just writing down the date instead, and then the time.

24th of June, 2022

08:12: Partly cloudy. 19℃. Nothing out of the ordinary.

He brings his pen up to his lips, chewing on the end of it as he considers what else to put. It had rained yesterday, but he’s not sure he should be including that. He hadn’t paid attention to the temperature or the timing, and he doesn’t want the data to be compromised.

“What’s that?”

Seb jumps at the sudden voice, the pen slipping out of his fingers and cluttering to the floor. He looks up and sees Charles standing on the other side of the desk with the book cart.

First of all I am so jealous that she’s getting a well-established garden to make her own instead of starting from scratch. It would also be sweet if the gardener stayed the same or she talked to the previous owners to like bond over plants or whatever and so she could know the personal history of each one. Also I want to know if there’s anything left in the greenhouse….

Ben basically assuming that they will adopt teddy and being totally fine with that🥺 I wonder if he discussed that with her aunt and uncle but anyway that’s so amazing of him love that

I can’t wait for Josie to get there lmao going to fucking eviscerate every fuckwad in the entire ton

“I’m not a cactus” LMFAOOOOOOOO dyinggggg that’s the funniest thing. My theory that Ben thought she had a fuck buddy came true and I love that lmaooooo

All the people who love her are so thoughtful and put a lot of care into the gifts they give her and it’s so sweet to see that she’s now surrounded by people who so genuinely love her

The fact that clover was so confident in the fact that Benedict did not want kitty but was choosing her and would do so no matter what. It really shows how much she trusts him already🥺😭

also tho I wonder if she realized that she was so fiercely defensive and staunch in saying that he is in love with her or if she was consciously like ‘well no but she doesn’t know that’. Like a Freudian slip of sorts- she’s subconsciously accepted his love and trusts him; it’s just a matter becoming aware of it and her being choosing to accept it.

This is a side note but I’m not sure if you know what the semicolon project is? Anyway I had a custom necklace made that says ‘cho;ce’ to kind of signify that everyday is a choice that I get to make and I get to choose to go on and how to live my life. Like I make my own decisions and choose to accept things and where I go from here and how I get treated etc. sort of deal, which was a pretty huge thing for me.

Anyway I feel like clover kind of has to make that step for herself, where instead of living in fear and at the whims of the past and others, she gets to make her own decisions and choose how things affect her. She gets to choose to love benedict instead of relying on everyone telling her that she’s in love with him, she gets to decide that she’s going to react to things or believe certain things instead of just believing what she’s been told and living in fear of the unknown/potentially bad things that might happen.

Idk sorry that’s really long and ramble-y and idk if it made sense at all, but it’s kind of something that I felt a connection to with her but I could just be making that up lol. It’s like the scene in brave that’s like ‘I’ll shoot for my own hand’ or whatever where she’s choosing her own path. Idk this is probably super cheesy and overly optimistic lolololol ignore me over here just spewing whatever comes to mind

Anyway loved this so much but my thumbs are hurting and also I need to get out of bed to take my meds so I’ve got to go but I’ll definitely be thinking about this chapter all week (and definitely for the next 24 hrs while I wait for u to return to the askbox lmaooo).

rly wonder how the "wild mood swings" deluxe edition (which i'm p sure robert said is coming at some point) will be handled when they get to it, especially w/ regard to remixes.. 🤔

cos like, none of the deluxe editions from 3ib -> disintegration included remixes.. which makes sense bcos they were then (mostly) included on the "mixed up" deluxe edition (altho it did still miss a few things out like the primary 12" version, lovecats 12" version, in between days 12" version, the 1986 boys don't cry new voice new mix 7" version etc) 😆

so the "wish" deluxe that came out last year was the first deluxe edition to actually include it's remixes, and it did a p good job of that too!! (still unfortunately missing a couple of things like the "trip mix" of high, and the extended version of a letter to elise tho 😔)

..but wild mood swings came out at a weird time in the late 90s where cramming cd singles full of remixes was all the rage, and so there's absolutely fucking Loads of them 😦 like going off what i have in my library (which i'm p sure should be everything??) i've got..

4 remixes of "the 13th"

2 of "mint car"

1 of "strange attraction"

3 of "gone!"

1 of "this is a lie"

which all together comes out at just over 50 minutes of remixes.. which i guess could fit onto a cd p easily?? but it makes me wonder if they'd actually bother re-releasing All of them?? cos wild mood swings isn't exactly their most critically acclaimed album, and idk how much interest there'd be for all those 😭

and as well um.. if they continue the route of including non-album singles from around the same time as the album on the deluxe editions, like they did with boys don't cry, jumping someone else's train, charlotte sometimes etc.. they'll also presumably include "wrong number" on the wild mood swings deluxe?? and that in itself has another 6 remixes, and they're Long as well, like the 7 versions i have of "wrong number" on it's own are just over 45 minutes all together 😳

so who's 2 say what the hell is gonna happen?? personally i hope as many are released as possible, bcos i'm a big fan of the album and also a completionist bitch.. but i guess it'll just be up 2 the whims of robert smith, and who knows what he's ever thinking?? 😆

were there patterns i was supposed to follow? did i fell of the track? or am i on the same right track i’m supposed to be at? how to change when you don’t know what and what to change to? i wish i could be as grounded as i was over a year ago. things weren’t perfect; a lot of heartbreak and panic, also exhaustion… but in the midst of things i found my inner peace… how did i do that? i remember my life being so simple (not not hard but simple, my outlook on life etc it was so …? organized?) now a lot of things are overwhelming. i remember a lot of things not being the way i want to but me still being okay with being at that moment - i think it’s because i had myself and when you have yourself no matter what happens you don’t collapse, at least not as hard, you have your inner strength to let you stand or stand back up. how did i do that? was it really therapy? was it being minimalistic with the things i owned? i didn’t start to buy more materialistic goods, perhaps not as much as my family members or some of my friends but still- it was quite a change… maybe those things have me a sense of seeming like things are more alright than they should be? but then again some of them do make me happy, feel more softer. so maybe it’s not about buying things but buying things more on a whim and not really using, utilizing then as i used to? i think i should go back to being more meaningful about things that i want and do. also just believing myself, which i find is extremely hard when living with my parents, especially my mom who’s so eager to share all her critique regarding me everyday, even if something good happens, she always has something downgrading to say… it’s like i’m never enough; and when i confront her about it she denies it.. wtf even… i sometimes do miss our family therapy bc even tho it wasn’t perfect and was often used against me, at least sometimes when i brought such things up at least they were confronted, at least they were brought up and i feel like my parents were holding back more… now they don’t and it actually hurts to realize it was all for a show, all just to make an illusion as far as family therapy went… it’s different compared to me bc i always act accordingly to my own compass, very often if not always thinking about an imaginary moral audience watching me as if it was a movie - imagining everyone i know would seeing me act as certain way and thinking of i would regret it often leads my decision of whether to do something or not. that’s why i’m embarrassed about less things as compared to how i used to. my parents want me to feel regret and embarrassment and remorse as if it was a rule, no matter what i would do, the second there are hard emotions and an argument, blindly following that imaginary awful guidebook i have to apologize and say i was wrong (too). it’s sick, and i’m starting to loose that fresh perspective i had a week ago after coming home from a trip. i think a therapist could help; but i so don’t want to start having conversations about money with my parents but that seems to be the only way to get out and start making my own, start re establishing myself the person i am outside of my family, because i’m so much more than that?!

-rubs grubby paws together- Random assorted Pokemon AU stuff

I apologize for nothing.

- It’s mostly canonverse with Pokemon shoehorned in.

- Logia Fruit Powers do NOT always protect them from Pokemon moves. Not sure if I want to go ‘all Pokemon moves to count the same as haki’, or like ‘Normal physical moves wiff but elemental moves don’t’, or ‘Moves that are a legitimate foil to the fruit’s element will work but nothing else will’

- Pokemon don’t like devil fruits. They give off vibes that make them uncomfortable/afraid/on edge. They will actively refuse to eat them if offered (and may even hiss at you/throw out an attack, be careful). It’s not dangerous for them to consume them though, and a person who ate a fruit is NOT instantly hated by all Pokemon forever. Once the fruit passes your lips they don’t care anymore (and may actively like you for it, because you got rid of the scary thing)

- Zoan fruits don’t turn people into variants of Pokemon. Pokemon based zoans just plain do not exist. Yes, people do question this. The world is not forthcoming with the answers. Naturally, the questions change depending on if Pokemon co-exist with regular animals, or if it’s a ‘Pokemon 100% replace animals’ type of world.

- This AU runs off anime logic, not video game logic.

- Pokeballs don’t work on Giants, Fishfolk, Merfolk, or any other ‘that’s a person’ type race.

Luffy:

- Pokemon love him. Luffy is in a constant state of “it sure is great to live in a world where all the creatures are so pettable/huggable” and all the pokemon are like “gee I sure hope this guy pets/hugs me” He’s a super mega pokemon freak and pokemon can sense it, which creates a feedback loop. This includes legends.

- He’s got an Aipom. Literally only the one Aipom. Every time he wants to catch something else he never has any pokeballs on him. Which is kind of a good thing because Luffy wants to catch everything he sees.

- She’s strong as fuck tho. Terrified of Garp for the same reasons Luffy is. She was not spared.

- She has a nickname but I’m not sure. I’m thinking either Gummy or Pommy. Something cute, childish, and not very creative, because Luffy got her as a very young child.

- Garp just randomly brought home an egg one day like “Luffy I found this while I was at work! You can have it!” Luffy asked what it was gonna be and Garp point blank said he had no idea, and he meant it. The villagers were worried because “Garp, what if it hatches into something dangerous?! Luffy’s only like 4!” (maybe he’s 5 -shrug- who knows) Luckily it was just an Aipom.

- Garp acting unworried about what the egg might be had people thinking he’d given it to Luffy on a whim, but it was a genuine gift out of love.

- Did she imprint and think Luffy was her mother for several years? Yes, absolutely. She's probably learned otherwise by now. Maybe... She has, right?

- Ask Luffy anything about Aipom as a species and there is a good chance he knows it. Luffy properly studied up and takes excellent care of his partner, thank you very much. She’s one of the healthiest mons on the crew. People are always shocked by this.

- She knows Fire Punch. Other move candidates are: Swift, Acrobatics, and Power-Up Punch.

- If someone brings up Alabasta and Crocodile, Luffy will adamantly defend her performance. Only Luffy lost to Crocodile, Aipom was kicking his mons’ asses, and Luffy will not allow for slander.

- Croc’s mons weren’t just trying to beat her up, they were actively trying to eat her. So that’s fun.

- Aipom has the pick up ability. And Luffy’s insane luck when it comes to it. Go on a walk and come back loaded with nuggets, herbs, evolution stones, and just about everything else under the sun. Luffy is always holding her instead of letting her wander on her own because he got sick of carrying everything she brings back. Nami can never know her money making potential.

Garp:

- He has a Stoutland. It’s old as fuck and strong as fuck.

- Luffy is far happier to see Stoutland than he ever is Garp.

- Stoutland used to let Luffy ride on his back when he was small. Ace and Sabo too.

Ace:

- He’s the one with the chimchar line.

- Got an egg from Garp the same way Luffy did (got his egg before Luffy tho)

- His Chimchar was a monferno before Ace met Luffy.

- IF Ace were to die (Highly unlikely. We don’t do that here), then his Infernape would eventually end up with Sabo.

- His Infernape might have taught Luffy’s Aipom Fire Punch. I’m unsure.

Sabo:

- Welcome to Fort Fuck If I Know. -shrugs-

- Legit my only idea for a mon for him can only happen for something we don’t do here. (I’ve only recently started thinking of Pokemon AU, so not everybody is getting 50 paragraphs of love)

- I’d love to say elegant, fancy pokemon a noble would have are something he wouldn’t have, but the irony in him having one anyway is gold. Honestly either works and it’s frustrating.

- He also got an egg from Garp. New grandchild? Hand them a mystery egg. The ultimate showing of love is to give them their very first partner, obviously.

Nami:

- Purrloin. Sneaky thief cat let’s go.

- She gets a Castform eventually too.

- Surprisingly does not nickname her Pokemon.

Zoro:

- Pawniard/Bisharp. Eventually becomes Kingambit.

- Rowlet. But like, think Hisuian for Dicidueye. Maybe the Hisuian starters evolve that way in Wano or something.

- He might not nickname his Pokemon.

Usopp:

- Well obviously he has Arceus, what else would he have?

- No, but seriously he has a Rowlett. That evolves into a regular arrow shooting Dicidueye.

- The Sobble line seems like a good fit too.

- He doesn’t nickname his pokemon, but he DOES lie about what he’s sending out, or lie what pokemon is attacking if you haven’t seen it yet.

- I feel like him getting a Zorua/Zoroark would be appropriate.

Sanji:

- Slurpuff, and I’ll fight you on it. They help him get the freshest ingredients.

- A fire type would fit but I don’t know which exact one.

- Sanji picks his mons on their ability to help him as a chef, not on their ability to fight. (Which is why he doesn’t have something like a hitmonlee, despite it being a good fit for a purely thematic team)

- They’ll still kick your ass if you do fight them tho.

- They’ve got cooking themed nicknames.

Robin:

- She has a Cherrim

- Possibly something that could help with her archeology work. Not sure what that would be.

- She nicknames her pokemon.

Franky:

- He has something strong to help him with his work. Think Timburr and Machop lines.

- Super manly Pokemon!

- Not sure if he nicknames his Pokemon. Leaning towards yes.

Brook:

- The bad news is that there is a decent chance his first partner is dead, so we’re ripping that off like a band-aid.

- Unless his first partner was a ghost type. Maybe. Not sure how those fuckers work. Maybe he kept it in its ball and that kept it in a sort of stasis? Wow, not technically being alone but having to force yourself to keep the one person you can talk to locked away to make sure they don’t die? I don’t know if that’s better or worse than in canon.

- He definitely gets musical pokemon like Kricketune.

- He definitely nicknames his.

Chopper:

- Ah yes, the mechanically fun one. If animals co-exist with pokemon, nothing changes really. He’s just a reindeer. HOWEVER, if pokemon replace animals, then Chopper is a special drum variant of either Stantler, or Deerling/Sawsbuck.

- He can understand Pokemon regardless if he is one. They fall under the ‘animal’ umbrella enough.

We’re moving to ‘he’s a pokemon’ territory because that’s fun:

- He’s a shiny, which isn’t something anyone realizes until Law points it out. (Maybe Robin knew. Robin probably knew.)

- Pokeballs don’t work on him because he’s too human.

- He can’t evolve either, if his base form was capable of doing so

- Pokemon hate devil fruits but Chopper was very hungry (or he’s a weirdo who doesn’t get the bad vibes)

- His different points allow for different moves to be used. Leg point is Bounce, Arm point is Arm Thrust, Guard point is Cotton Guard (maybe?), etc. He can’t use moves in his full human form, and if he goes for his default form, he can use his full range of moves like a normal pokemon (still can’t be caught tho)

- He doesn’t have a Pokemon. This is true regardless if he is a pokemon or a regular reindeer. Chopper isn’t sure if it’s okay for him to have a pokemon when he’s not really a human (or ‘that’s a person’ type race).

- His crew will naturally encourage him that he can totally have a pokemon. Meeting and befriending Law will further encourage him, because Law uses his own pokemon as medical assistants. (and I really need the Law and Chopper friendship, it has so much potential -cries-)

- Not sure what his first partner would be. Absolutely a medically inclined pokemon tho.

- He’d ask them before he nicknamed them.

Jinbei:

- The only person on this crew with a water type.

- They’re all water types. This is very common with Fish and Merfolk, because of where they live.

- Might be interesting if he could understand water types and only water types. Not sure on that tho.

- I don’t think Sharpedo would be a wrong choice per say... but I dunno.

- Relicanth is yelling at me that it wants to be here. -shrug-

- Most of his water types are ‘from the sea’ rather than lakes or rivers.

- They don’t have nicknames to make Jinbei seem more ‘professional’ but he wants to.

- He doesn’t have one but he thinks Applin are really cute. Once he joins the Strawhats for real he might start looking.

Vivi:

- Karoo is here! Even if pokemon replace the animals, he’s just a unique species to Alabasta. Not even a ‘regional variant’ of something we already have, he’s just something new.

- If Karoo isn’t a pokemon then I don’t know what she’d have. Rather than a pokemon that’s naturally pretty and princess seeming (like Gardevior or Furfrou), it might be better for her to have a Pokemon that thrives in desert regions.

- Her family is definitely the type to go for Pokemon from their home region instead of like, importing something to be fancy.

- Her having a Sandile while Crocodile has a Krookodile would be so good for the contrast.

- Yes, they’re nicknamed.

Crocodile:

- Bastard man has a Krookodile and possibly a Feraligatr.

- They are indeed nicknamed, and not even anything intimidating (Think being named Banana)

- Crocodile has no qualms about sending out multiple pokemon to fight you at once, and he doesn’t care if they eat yours if you’re his enemy.

- Trying to eat Luffy’s Aipom was a thing they tried to do. Unlike Crocodile vs Luffy, they didn’t have invincibility tho and she was kicking their asses. They gave her more trouble because she kept trying to ditch to help a struggling Luffy than they did because they were any sort of real challenge for her.

- They’re rude. They’re incredibly well trained but in a bad way. Crocodile you shouldn’t teach them to do those things.

hmm i've been on tumblr since i was 11 but only started creating when i was 15 or 16 gfhjk i got into gif/gfx making cause i was inspired by many many talented creators here and i thought of trying out on a whim;; and here i am FGHJKL :')

4. what do you enjoy about making graphics / gifs?

i def enjoy making my own psds and changing the colors of certain scenes in anime!! it's rly fun tinkering with ps and i learned a lot throughout the process hehe tho one downside of gif making is tht it takes away the fun of rewatching cause i keep rewinding one whole anime ep just to choose a scene i wish to gif TT

18. what is your go to adjustment / PSD for colouring?

def the selective colors!! i tend to make my scenes pastel? (tho i always fail i cry hhng) while focusing on certain colors like pink or violet if tht makes sense FGHJKHGJK

i am in desperate need of posting so here are some random headcanons about my main 9!! (i'll do like at least 2 each, some may have more)

~~~

- connie would be the kid with the speaker in his bag (public school kids, y'all know exactly who i'm talking about)

- eren went through an eyeliner phase. in public? no, but he would just sit around with eyeliner on

- never give sasha the aux because she would just blast "tia tamera" by doja cat on full volume while screaming the lyrics with the windows open

- levi loves cats, he like...,. relates to them? idk but he sees himself in cats and thinks they're adorable n shit

- mikasa has cried to multiple different mitski songs, even ones she can't even relate to (she's just like me fr fr)

- sasha and connie always gaslight jean by making up scenarios and being like "omg remember when..." and jean gets so anxious and thinks he's losing his memory

- erwin really wants a cool sleeve of tattoos but won't do it because he remembers that tattoos are permanent and removing them is painful and expensive

- hange owns a cowboy hat for absolutely no reason, but when they remember they have it, they don't take it off for like a week

- armin, eren, and mikasa fucking love dancing even though they're horrendous at it, and they don't even actually dance, they kinda just jump around and head bang to whatever song is playing (it's cute tho <3)

- sasha is a sucker for squishmallows, especially the food shaped ones

- hange is definitely, not exactly a stoner, but an avid smot poker and is always willing to share

- mikasa can play guitar!! not that well, but she can still play better than everyone else!!

- armin keeps a picture of his pet in his wallet in case he ever feels down and needs to cheer up a bit

- eren's guilty pleasure is astrology. he's not super into it and he doesn't understand everything, but sometimes he'll just be like "oh of course she's a taurus" or some shit

- levi owns so much jewelry. like.... so much. and it's all silver. this mf has rings and necklaces and bracelets and is so tempted to get his ears pierced too

- connie bites. like if him and his friends are like fake fighting/wrestling, he will bite. not hard, but he'll do it

- jean's hair is super fucking soft, regardless of how sweaty or gross he might be

- erwin is great with kids, but not babies. like someone will ask him to hold their baby and he'll like place it under his armpit and just keep it there

- hange has the worst sense of humor– corrupt gen z humor. like y'know that one picture of the horse without legs on the ground and it's captioned "ground beef"? yeah that kinda shit

- armin collects funko pops of all his favorite shows/movies and has all of his all-time favorite characters out of the box on a separate shelf

- levi has baby soft skin regardless of any wounds or scars, and he doesn't even have like a super specific skin care routine or anything

- sasha, jean, and connie all play roblox together at like 3 am when they're drunk off of tiredness and everything is funny

- hange gets fascinated by things that are holographic and will buy it even if they're never gonna use it

- eren steals mikasa's phone and takes 4000 blurry and unflattering pictures on it. she always keeps the most humiliating ones

- armin and hange discuss fnaf lore. jean once caught them playing the first fnaf game together and then he got hooked too

- levi once got into a bad habit of calling things "camp" and then had to explain it to erwin. he was very confused

- jean and connie wanted to make their own nft. everyone immediately shut them down

DIABOLIK LOVERS DARK FATE Official Visual Fanbook Short Story: Mukami Ruki VS Mukami Yuma

Disclaimer: Both sides portray the same story, but from a different perspective. The first story is written from Ruki’s POV, while the second portrays the events from Yuma’s POV.

RUKI’S SIDE

With the book in my hands still turned open, I gaze at the TV.

Yuma’s disrupting presence as he sits next to her does cross my mind, but I do not let it show on my face.

On the screen which she watches with her full attention, a movie is playing about a gravely ill young girl and a doctor who tries every option available to him to cure her.

While watching this cliched story unfold with a cold expression on my face, a thought emerges in the back of my subconsciousness.

Would I be capable of doing something for another person? Would I ever find myself growing utterly desperate for the sake of just a single individual, just like the man in this movie?

While lost in thought, my gaze involuntarily shifts to her, as I go against all of my principles and start to ponder.

...If she were to be the young girl in this movie, what actions would I take? Would I be able to save her?

Since she is a human, she should fear death. In that case, if she were to become a Vampire like me, she would be freed from this fear of one day meeting her end.

“...Uu...”

I hear a small grunt which snaps me out of my trail of thought. I can tell she is crying even without looking at her face.

Seems like the movie had ended at some point. Not only did I break character by showing interest in some wordly movie, but I ended up putting her in place of the movie’s protagonist.

“Wouldn’t that shit get cured from eatin’ Sugar-chan?”

“That is impossible if you think logically.”

I subconsciously reacted to Yuma’s carefree statement. Of course, I know that Yuma was only saying that as a joke as well.

However, perhaps it is because I replaced the protagonist with inside my head, but my tone sounded quite harsh.

As respectively human and Vampire, our vision on death is different. That being said, life is not easy for either of us.

“...Being alive comes with a lot of pain and suffering...”

When I look at her while she continues to sob quietly, she seems somewhat dazed, as if the movie is still lingering inside her head.

I can only assume that this tale embraces something only a human can comprehend.

“...They say that one’s soul weighs 21 grams. Did you know?”

When I pose said question, she lifts her head to look at me.

“Heeh, I see...I wonder if that’s heavy?”

I have trouble answering her question. However, I could definitely declare the weight of her soul in particular.

“Livestock, your soulーー”

Your soul should be heavy. She has a definite value after all. Without being able to finish my sentence, I am interrupted by Yuma.

Looking at Yuma as he states a soul weighs the same as five sugar cubes, her eyes start to glimmer.

The feeling which quietly wells up inside of me as a result isn’t rivalry towards Yuma. I simply did not like how she seems to have forgotten who she belongs to.

“Lemme suck yer blood. I’ll suck ya plenty to make up for all this time ya kept me waitin’!”

Yuma restrained both of her wrists as he purred. She looked at me to seek rescue, but those teary eyes of her only lured me in instead.

“To find out the weight of your soul, your blood is the best way.”

I gently lift her chin, locking eyes with her.

“I’ll teach you one more time who you belong to.”

I was the only one reflected in her eyes, which twitched either out of fear or anticipation.

ーー End.

YUMA’S SIDE

I wonder how long it has been since I sat down next to her?

“Come on Sow, open yer mouth.”

Even if I bring Sugar-chan to her lips, she won’t even bat an eye.

“Want me to thrust it in there again, huh?”

This time I try to force her to look my way, but she grabs hold of both of my wrists and attempts to break free. On top of that, her eyes remain glued to the television screen.

“This is an important scene, so hold on for a bit.”

I get the same response again. I don’t think I’ll able to able to understand what’s so fun about these kind of tearjerkers.

If you’re wondering why I’ve remained seated next to her regardless, that’s because there’s one other person present in the living room right now. I want to avoid leaving her all alone with Ruki, who was sitting a few inches away from us on the couch.

Since she didn’t seem to be in the mood to entertain me at present, I had no idea what to do now that my hands had let go of Sugar-chan.

“...Uu...”

When I glance at her face after hearing a soft sniffle, tears were pooling in the corners of her eyes.

I wonder how she can cry this much from some movie about a girl who is gravely ill?

“Wouldn’t that shit get cured from eatin’ Sugar-chan?”

“That is impossible if you think logically.”

It was meant to be more of a nonchalant remark, but Ruki immediately responded in his usual fashion.

“...Being alive comes with a lot of pain and suffering...”

Ruki gazes off into the distance, speaking those words as if he seemingly just came to a realization.

Even though I had been sitting here messing with her, her mind seemed to have been fixated on the television screen this whole time. Knowing I’ve been kept waiting for some stupid movie triggers my temper.

“...They say that one’s soul weighs 21 grams. Did you know?”

My thoughts get interrupted by Ruki’s sudden statement.

“Heeh, I see...I wonder if that’s heavy?”

The Sow looks up at him with reddened eyes.

If Ruki starts to ramble about the weight of souls now, her attention will be completely on him. First that darn movie and now Ruki, huh...!?

“Livestock, your soulーー”

“One Sugar-chan weighs ‘bout four grams...Which means a soul is give or take five Sugar-chans, huh? That’s lighter than I thought.”

“Wow! You make it so easy to understand!”

She smiled at me after I blurted out those words on a whim.

“Well, your blood is way more delicious than Sugar-chan tho.”

When I say that, I suddenly get an overwhelming craving for the blood pumping through her veins. This sensation which is unlike anything else became vivid inside my mind once more through my own words. The desire was further spurred on by the relief when she finally looked my way, as well a sense of fulfillment from winning over Ruki.

“Lemme suck yer blood. I’ll suck ya plenty to make up for all this time ya kept me waitin’!”

While saying that, I tightly grab hold of both of her wrists with one hand. Those slender wrists are within my grasp in no time.

“To find out the weight of your soul, your blood is the best way.”

While I purr, Ruki lifts her chin with a dissatisfied expression on his face, looking straight into her eyes.

I’d love to tell him to back off, but I’m sure that having Ruki and I suck her blood simultaenously will make her blood all the more delicious.

While imagining how interesting that could be, I plunge my fangs inside her fair skin.

I always love your takes on Dany because I think you explain her really well and was wondering what you think of this take by a Dany stan. It's got some uh... interesting ideas. Sorry too because it's quite long

The main difference in between Daenerys' political arc, and that of other "heroes" and their Houses is that Dany's is not currently a political arc relegated to fighting for Targaryen grievances and wins. Meanwhile, all other main House representatives in the narrative (Starks, Martells, Lannisters, Greyjoys, Tullys, Tyrells, Baratheons) are generally fighting precisely for nothing else but their own (and their Houses') grievances and wins.

That's where the double standards come in-

+ Daenerys is harshly and minutely judged for the quality of her every act, upon every single person in her narrative, bc her arc involves her aim to hold responsibility over the wellness of all these people.

+ Everyone else who are part of the Great Houses however are merely judged as per how they perform towards the wellness of their own Houses, because that's all they aim to perform for.

One girl dies in an act Dany is not directly involved in, particularly in intention, and the discussions are endless as per the repercussions and outrage of the occurrence. Because Daenerys took it upon herself to defend all these people, and this seems like a failure, particularlyin her POV: one girl with no other importance in the story and a few lines, among maybe millions. One girl. Hazea.

Robb Stark and his men, on the other hand, will kill, maim and rape thousands, or even tens of unnamed thousands, and there is no outrage; rarely discussed repercussions. Because Robb's political arc is not about protecting nameless people. Not about caring for the fate of one-liner non-noble characters. His arc is about the grievances of House Stark. About Ned. Readers judge him upon how close he gets to getting revenge on Tywin and Jofrrey, about how well/or bad he leads wars, not about what kind of leader he is to people, what kind of 'monster' he is to enemy commonfolk. The relevance of his eventual loss is not about the fate of his people, or enemy people, either. It's about his personal tragedy. It's about the tragedy of the remaining Starks.

There is outrage for Daenerys even killing her (leader) enemies. For everyone else, it's an undisputed aim.

Daenerys is even already judged for the possibility of a future where she will anything that concerns her actually being Daenerys of House Targaryen in Westeros. The possibility that any Westerosi people might die, while hundreds of thousands may have been dying so far at the hands of other Great Houses (directly and indirectly), and it's mostly irrelevant for them. But for Daenerys that judgement is everything. She is looked through the lense of "if she's a Queen she's meant to protect them, not kill them" tho she has not yet been granted that status, while those who have had the status of Kings, Queens and Lords of Westeros in the meantime have been responsible for the deaths of their own people all of this time.

No noble Northener really cares for a Jeyne Poole, least of all for a Hazea.

Daenerys alone is (harshly) judged as a leader of people, because that's her current actual arc. She is not Daenerys of House Targaryen currently, in a real sense, not really. Her family and House don't really matter where she is now, and to what she is doing.

Almost every other noble character (and I only say almost to partly exclude those not taking particular part in politics) is given the leniency of the tragic MC in a tragic family drama biopic. ALL THEY ARE IS X PERSON OF HOUSE Y. And in most cases nothing else matter. - end post

Well, obviously no hate to this person whoever they are and I don't necessarily think it's a bad take just because I disagree with it. I particularly DO agree on things like Jeyne Poole, and I think that is GRRM very intentionally trying to point out some huge hypocrisies with everyone in the story, even the "good guys", because it is incredibly unfair that no one will come to save Jeyne Poole while a fuckton of people will come to save "Arya Stark" just because they cared about Ned.

But where I don't agree is on that aspect in particular. Because it's not about winning or airing grievances for these great houses, a lot of their actions are largely driven by the fact that they simply care deeply about the other people who are involved in the war now or who have been hurt or killed in the past wars, and that is largely what is motivating many of them to do what they do. And in even more intense cases, they're going to war because they are in extremely immediate danger.

This is true for both villains and heroes, I mean Robb and Cat go to war against the Lannisters because there is an immediately mortal threat to their entire family, and even though Cersei and the rest of the Lannisters are clearly villains, their actions are also driven by an immediate mortal danger that their family is facing. And it's safe to say, a huge portion of what happened in the WOT5K would never have even occurred if a lot of these people weren't put in a position of "HOLY SHIT me or someone I love is about to die RIGHT NOW if I don't do something so I better fucking do something".

I feel like the story makes it clear that the wars that they are fighting are very pointless and brutal anyway. I mean FFS, GRRM does not accidentally traumatize the shit out of Arya by putting her in a commoner's position in a war that is supposedly being fought in her name. So I actually agree with the writer in the sense that there is a double standard when it comes to Dany vs. everyone else, but I feel like the double standard is valid because all of these characters for better or worse have a dog in this fight. Whatever they've done is incredibly personal and therefore pretty irrational for them.

And the fact that the men are rallying to save Arya Stark when they wouldn't rally to save a thousand Jeyne Pooles is very telling and demonstrates that they are extremely hypocritical, but it's also telling because they're not fighting for the "heir to House Stark". They repeatedly talk about how they're fighting for Ned's girl. It has very little to do with her nobility and power and a great deal to do with how these people feel about Ned not as a Stark, but just as a person that they knew and cared for who was horribly wronged.

So while I agree and recognize that a ton of the main characters have done the wrong things, often for the wrong reasons, it's personal, it's emotional, and it's irrational. And in a lot of cases it is driven by something as simple and pure as "I am about to die if I don't do something so I'm doing the first thing I fucking think of to get out of it". Even for the houses who initially got involved as a power play, it has become very much about the people that they care about and their own feelings rather than strategy and house advancement.

That doesn't magically make it moral, but it does make it hugely distinct from what Daenerys is doing. Because Daenerys doesn't have a dog in this fight at all. She has absolutely no personal ties to Westeros or anyone in it, and she is not in any danger from anyone in Westeros. Literally the only Westerosi person who has ever even really tried to kill her is a man she doesn't know and is already dead, and the only Targaryen she ever knew who even had a connection to Westeros was someone she hated who abused her horrifically and who is also already dead.

Ergo, Dany is a villain because she literally has no personal or political justification for the massive war that she's going to bring to Westeros. She is going to leave the place she's in that is a complete mess and desperately needs help even more than it did after her intervention, and she's going to invade a place that she doesn't care about beyond some imaginary concept she has about it in her head, has no connection to, has no need for her, and poses no threat to her.

She's not fighting for anything besides herself and her own sense of entitlement over Westeros. She's more harshly judged for her actions because they are completely driven by her own whims and desires and nothing more. She has the opportunity to think things through and plan and get advice and actually figure out the best way to do things, whereas every character in Westeros is reacting to something very immediate that they don't have a lot of time to consider and that is deeply emotional for them. But still, she doesn't even do that.

She's judged for all of the mistakes she makes because they're unnecessary and foreseeable mistakes. And, if she actually just waited and tried to figure out what to do instead of basically throwing herself into situations where she's suddenly overthrowing governments and ruling hundreds of thousands of people without a plan or any governing experience, then a lot of the bad things that have happened as a result of her campaign wouldn't have happened.

And obviously, I think this is a very intentional move on GRRM's part. I think he establishes that war is pointless and often outrageously hypocritical with the WOT5K, but there's a reason he gave Dany no one she loves and no one who needs her help and no one who poses a threat to her in Westeros. She's going to bring war to an already war-ravaged continent simply because she feels like it should belong to her.

That is drastically different than Robb going to war because his father has been falsely charged with treason or Cersei murdering Robert because he will try to murder her children if he finds out they're not his. And while all of the wars in ASOIAF are terrible and purposeless in the end, GRRM is going very far out of his way to demonstrate that Dany has literally zero justification or even explanation for why she acts the way she does beyond her belief in her own super-special entitlement.

okay, so i finished the untamed AND found some posts on the differences between the novel, so here’s my thoughts overall in bulletpoints:

wei wuxian: certainly a character of all time

i want to hit the author of the novel with my car. hard. fucking weirdo

while at times some of the development with LWJ/WWX felt a bit told to me, not shown to me, i really like how its expressed (and am glad i didn’t get what was in the novel, tbh) and i actually liked their ending?? tho i see its controversial

that said i wish lan wangji was developed more which relates to--

i think everyone’s characterization/development paths were a looot more interesting in the flashback? outside of jiang cheng who really did develop more into a complex character who i really can’t gather my feelings onto

i actually by what i said before, in many ways, it think i’d be content with viewing this series through the lens of everything ending with WWX’s death and no resurrection--i think the story stands more strongly as a tragedy than the sort of vague mystery it becomes post resurrection

THAT SAID if the story had explored more of the emotions and actual dynamics post resurrection more, i’d probably change my mind? i think the pacing got REALLY fucked by focusing on so many side stories (i really did not think we needed to know about xiao/song/a qing/xue) and in trying to churn all those out, it’s like “oh, yeah, everyone just accepts wei is back because he’s useful in solving what is going on”

yes i also understand that’s the point, that the whims of who is “evil” and who is “right” change easily, but it felt emotionally hollow at times

rly a pacing issue and how everyone seemed less complex in part 2

i did not care about jin guangyao and i think so much of his backstory was just... stupid? i understand he’s meant to be a foil to wwx but the oops incest thing was weird, the whole thing about why they had to kill their son was worse (and ableist and gross, even if that was teh intent), and as fucking OBVIOUS as they made he’s backhandedness early in the series, the heel turn still felt too sudden? lik ehe just gave up, trauma dumped, and died. like bro you’ve been at this like 20 years??

and i know his relationship with lwj’s brother is also meant to be a foil to lwj/wwx but...... it didn’t work

also why does this show hate women? i know its because the author was a fujo but like... i DO love a lot of the female characters but the way they are sidelined is embarrassinggggggggg

loved that so much of this show focused on music

i love wei’s vindication

i love what it has to say about rules and conformity, that even the most sensible rules must be questioned and challenged in how they are enforced. “do not befriend the devil” makes sense on paper but who is the devil? who decides that? who is society prone to demonizing and how can sensible rules lead to senseless violence?

like... what does justice actually look like? is it vengeance? or is it looking past your own hurt and seeing a bigger picture?

and i love that the story ends with an understanding that the Big Bad being taken out doesn’t mean justice is served

beautiful cinematography ic an see where all the budget went so ic an forgive some of the special effects looking... the way they did (That fuckign demon dog LMAO)

all in all i had a great time even tho i think the last ~10 episodes kind of got a bit muddled, the ending was worth it 4/5

wait also i want to hit lwj’s dad with a car too, i’m glad that the story KIND Of frames his story as complicated rather than fully romanticizing it but no i’m hitting him with my car, stealing someone else’s car, and hitting him again with that car too

i’m probably not consuming any of the other adaptions outside of gifs unless anyone can HEAVILY recommend them and promise me none of the weird shit is included

like beyond the consent issues (putting it lightly) why do they break so many bath tubs at a certain point that’s just weird like what’s going on there what fetish is that catering to. die for that.

okay and i promise outside of maybe anotehr couple musing here or there, my untamed posting is going on the main, so don’t be scared off

Titans 3.05

once more into the cold dark void of the internet with my stream-of-consciousness take on a superhero tv show...

spoilers ahead.

1. i cannot believe that among the first things i get to hear in this episode with my own two ears is the line 'eluded our overdudes'. why must you give me such pain along with so much joy, show?

1.5. scarecrow stringing jason along on this path to red-hood-dom is not something i would’ve ever expected, but does kind of make sense.

1.55. i don’t know all the details of the original resurrection arc in the comics but i like that jason, weirdly, has a greater role to play in his own demise and rebirth? i think it makes it easier to draw a line between his past trauma, the demonstrably shitty and terrifying responsibility of being robin, the ways bruce and the titans wronged him, his responses to that, the reasons he turns to scarecrow, and his final evolution to red hood. it makes for a smoother character arc rather than a one that was interrupted for two decades before somebody went oh hey let’s resurrect that kid that the audience once voted to kill and make him an anti-hero!

1.75. what’s crane giving him? anti fear toxin? anyway, crane is a fucking creep and i’m not sure i want to see a whole lot of him on my screen.

2. oh, um, heads up: there’s a long sequence of unsteady cam + flickering lights right after the title card upto the 3:16 mark. it’s a bit headache-inducing so if you want to skip, you can go ahead and do that.

2.45. that’s... weird... why would he dream about... donna...

ok, who am i kidding. i’m going to jump right into my theory about Why Titans Makes Sense Actually because the show itself is apparently not interested in explaining itself:

a) it makes no sense for jason to be conjuring up donna--who famously did not care much for him!--in his dreams. (he wasn’t even there when she died.) or for her to be telling him don’t go or there’s still time.

b) this leads me to think that that’s actually donna, in some sort of limbo between life and death, the kind of place where jericho used to be

c) rachel has demonstrated that she has the power to link the minds of the titans across great distances--she called jason and hank/dawn for help in 2.01, she linked up everybody later in the season, projected dick’s hallucination of his father into their brains without even realising she was doing it, and in the finale, she managed to get dick into conner’s brain. she’s in themyscira now. is this how she gets donna back to life? but reaching out to her in that non-space between life and death?

d) the next obvious question is: why isn’t donna appearing in the dreams of the other titans? she probably is, but they have better reason to be dreaming about her since they were actually close to her, unlike jason.

e) but why would she warn jason in particular? does she foresee jason entering the afterlife--however briefly? does she have an idea of what jason plans to do and what he will become?

f) anyway, more trippy mindscapes and weird psychic powers, yay!

2.5. my heart clenched when bruce comforted jason post-nightmare: clearly i’ve been reading way too much batfam fic. this is a side of bruce we haven’t really been told to expect by all the characters on the show calling him a ‘psychopath’ (*cough*unreliablenarrators*cough*) and him getting jason to speak to a professional speaks volumes about the kind of self-reflection he’s done post dick’s departure, and maybe some of the regrets he has with regards to how he dealt with dick’s traumas.

i mean, just look at him when jason dismisses his concerns! BRUCE IS TRYING JASON

anyway, i have a whole lot more i want to say about this, but i’ll save it for later.

also: LESLIE THOMPKINS!!!!

3. i really like molly--and i love that she’s a friend from before jason got taken in by bruce, the implication that they meet up regularly and that she’s a grounding influence on him (tho clearly not grounding enough to not go along with his dumbass idea about confronting a child trafficker alone).

3.5. aw, jason. robin was his armour against everything in the world that would throw him down and chew him to bits, but san francisco proved that even robin wasn’t enough to protect him. it’s really interesting how ‘disillusionment with the idea of robin’ is so integral to the traumas of both dick and jason but in such different ways.

4. LESLIE!!!!!!! i even forgive her office being so goddamn blue because leslie!

4.5. it makes so much sense for titans!verse leslie to be a therapist, because this show is so inward looking anyway, and therapist sessions are a useful tool to showcase this character work in a story. besides, at least in fanfic, leslie often seems to double up as a counsellor anyway.

4.6. oh man. i’m not terribly convinced by walters’ red hood (tho i think that may be the point--argh. i’ll come back to this thought later. have to stop getting distracted!) but he plays the asshole kid that’s trying not to let any real emotion seep through really well.

“you’d like me to punch you, wouldn’t you”

5. not sure what to think of batman’s little trophy case other than the show winking unsubtly at us and going look look - catwoman! the riddler! two face! you excited yet?! it’s like the scene from the end of amazing spiderman 2 when they were trying to drum up excitement for a sinister six spinoff by having harry osborne walk by a bunch of display cases with stuff from iconic villains in them.

... but then again, bruce does like to display a lot of shit in his batcave, including his dead robin’s bloodstained costume, so.

5.5. bruce is so soft with jason it’s killing me. beyond just trying to learn from his mistakes with dick, it speaks to his own genuine desire to balance his dedication to gotham with doing the best by his sons, although he’s often not successful with that.

i love that titans is really playing the long game with bruce wayne, with each season and character-perspective sliding in fresh pieces of a bigger puzzle. titans’ bruce has always been a phantom of other peoples’ making, but now we’re getting the idea that he’s a whole lot more complicated than other people make it seem.

5.75. it really recontextualises some of his actions from previous seasons: the fact that he locked dick out of his security systems in 1.06 is likely his way of respecting dick’s independence and his desire not to be associated with batman/gotham anymore. jason knowing about bruce’s tracker while dick doesn’t is probably bruce trying to be more honest and upfront with his charges. bruce sending jason packing off to sanfran to spend time with the titans is probably not him passing on a big responsibility to dick (as i first uncharitably thought) but him trying to get jason out of the toxic influence of gotham for a while and a sign of his trust in dick as a leader and a mentor,

5.8. i mean, bruce is a prick, but he’s also human.

6. i think leslie is doing some good work with jason here, though she may have overstepped the line with her line about robin as a construct being projected by a man with BPD. her speculations about bruce’s diagnosis have no place in her session with jason, and if bruce confides in her, an egregious violation of patient-therapist confidentiality.

(about the diagnosis itself... i don’t know. i can’t really confirm or refute this without a whole lot more information, and i’m not sure if the writer of this episode means BPD in the same way an actual professional might.)

6.5. i think a huge thing that gets missed out in a lot of recent comics as well as movies/shows is that bruce didn’t create the robin persona out of whole cloth. dick did. he’s the starting point of that legacy and to call it entirely bruce’s creation is blatant erasure of that. in fact, i’m surprised that dick doesn’t feature more in the conversations they’re having about the pressures of being robin. after all, the guy had been robin--bruce’s partner--for such a long time before jason.

6.8. (and here’s the primal part of me that resonates the deepest with dick grayson--the Eldest Daughter part--that’s sort of resentful: that jason gets the therapy and softness and the learning from mistakes when it took years and years for bruce to reach out in any meaningful way to dick.)

7. oooh that was a great scene!

it’s fun to do these stream-of-consciousness live reactions, because the moment you step down from your soapbox, the episode goes right into tackling what you were just complaining about. bruce means well, he’s learning, but he goes about exactly the wrong way to help jason: taking away robin now can’t be read by jason as anything but a devastating judgment call from bruce. and iain glen really sells the moment that bruce realises this--too late--and his helplessness in trying to get jason to see that it isn’t jason’s fault that he’s trying to do this. he loves jason enough that jason is enough.

7.5. aaaah so jason brings up the elephant in the room at last. dick got everything makes sense from his perspective, where getting to put on a costume and fight crime means approval, means being something stronger and better than you are. dick got to be robin, then nightwing, and a leader of a whole team of other costume-clad heroes.

8. ... how did jason just walk into arkham????? this is ridiculous.

8.3. i mean, clearly jason’s not thinking straight, but betraying batman like this puts his possibilities of being robin again even further away.

8.5. watching that chemistry experiment montage was strangely funny. this guy is looking for an antidote to fear? well, constantly mixing up and inhaling gases concocted by a mad-scientist supervillain is something only the very fearless--reckless to the point of foolishness!--would do. what’s to say crane’s not given you a formula for a drug that will keep you tethered to his every will and whim? hmmmm?

8.7. so he sought out the joker to... test the formula???

9. wow the “loud and clear... boss” hits different after a whole episode of them referring to each other as father and son.

9.3. waitwaitwait HOLD UP. wait a DANG MINUTE. you’re telling me that scarecrow had enough resources that he could not only have folks on the outside steal jason away and dunk him in a lazarus pit (i TOLD you that this show would bring up and dismiss ra’s al ghul in a ten second aside! I TOLD YOU) but also have his own little chemistry lab in the basement, AND have enough resources for jason to build his red hood persona???????? all of this in barely twenty four hours?

well there goes my ‘jason orchestrated his death’ theory. it was nice while it lasted. *cups hands to the sky* fly away, my baby.

9.6. a part of me is gleeful at the rushed nature of such an iconic transformation though, especially when compared to all the character work that went before it. we’re so used to getting the opposite that it’s fucking delightful to have a show that’s more interested in exploring its characters’ minds rather than battle scenes or recreating transformations from the comics. that’s taken such bold and exciting steps to fully convey all the nuances of its most recognisable character, bruce wayne, from casting an older actor to play him to unflinchingly showing just how damaging the vigilante lifestyle has been to him and the people he loves. BRILLIANT

10. again, heads up: a whole lot of flashing lights between 40:28 and 42:00.

10.3. i guess it’s the super-compressed timeline that’s really throwing me off. where did he have the time to get/develop the mind control thing from? or is it something that he got from the cabal of villains that he intimidated at the beginning of 3.02? very messy.

10.5. i love molly, i hope she shows up again this season.

11. aaaand that’s it! that was a solid episode as flashback episodes go, but now i can’t wait to return to the present.
