Snowflake Proposal
Two halfas met in winter and after an eventful day full of snowballs and laughs Jason offers Danny a snowflake, not realizing that this action was a promise of a future engagement for ice core ghosts.
Since Jason had a fire core, he was taught by the other fire core ghosts when he discovered he was a halfa; the traditions of other types of ghosts completely ignored.
He learned important things for the fire cores like: how romantic the bonfires were, saying I love you through food among other things. Fire cores used to value survival and effort above all else.
However, Jason had no idea about the others ghosts; according to him, Danny had started flirting first (Danny didn't know he was, since he only knew the traditions of ice core ghosts)
It was common in the Realms to investigate your potential partner's traditions if they didn't have the same core. Something most ghosts knew about, of course, this didn't include halfas.
So, Danny has no idea how to respond to this proposal...

Is it Canon or Fanon?
A little over a week ago, I received a very thought-provoking ask that wondered whether the Fenton parents could be considered good parents after everything they've done throughout the show. I did leave a response to that ask, and you can find the original answer here. But even afterwards, it had me thinking:
Why did we start depicting Jack and Maddie as Bad Parents to begin with?
I aim to answer this question through canon evidence to see where this argument might have come from. Now, something to keep in mind is that we still tend to ignore canon a lot of the time, so there may be some people who won't take this meta to mean all that much anyways. But for the purpose of fanfiction, we have to acknowledge that there needs to be an in-universe explanation to these events and sadly, the 'it's a Butch Hartman show' or 'it's an early 2000s cartoon' excuses don't really cut it.
So let's start with some basic stats. There are 49 episodes to the Danny Phantom cartoon (we will not be using the Graphic Novel, A Glitch in Time, for examples); 20 for the first season, 17 for the second, and 12 for the third. If you looked this up on Google, you might notice that these numbers don't line up with the episode list provided. This is because I counted any two-part episodes as one for convenience's sake. Season 2 has three two-parters: "Reign Storm", "The Ultimate Enemy", and "Reality Trip". Season 3 has "Phantom Planet".
Jack appears for 43 of those episodes, although he does not have any speaking lines in the episode, "Frightmare". Maddie, on the other hand, appears in 40 episodes. The three episodes that Maddie does not appear in, but Jack does, are as follows: "Memory Blank", "Flirting With Disaster", and "Double Cross My Heart".
Let's Start with Season 1:
"Mystery Meat": Jack is shown as dismissive to Danny and his friends' preferences, telling them, "True, I've never seen a ghost, but when I do, I'll be prepared. And so will you, whether you want to be or not." Later on, when Sam and Tucker are visibly shaking and Danny is panting from exhaustion, he doesn't realize something is off about this. When Jazz offers to drive Danny to school, the Fenton parents quickly assume that she's a ghost and go off to track them down... even despite her previous argument that she was mentally an adult (should I be concerned that Jazz called Danny an 'abused, unwanted wretch' to make a point to their parents?) A POINT TO MADDIE, she worried about hurting Jazz if she really wasn't a ghost but Jack quickly dismisses that, as their ghost-hunting device only hurts when gets into human hair (spoiler alert, it gets into Jazz's hair). She also insists that Danny is not a ghost, but unfortunately she ultimately doesn't try to stop Jack when he insist Jazz is a ghost. Standing aside and letting abuse play out does not mean Maddie is innocent of hurting her daughter too.
"Fanning the Flames": When Jazz and Danny are struggling to study for an upcoming test, Jack decides that they should put their kids into the 'Fenton Stockades' which is basically an iron maiden. And yes, the Fentons have an entire floor that is meant to torture people. I feel like that should probably be addressed at some point. A POINT TO MADDIE, she stood her ground and refused to let him put their children inside, and even locks him inside instead.
"Teacher of the Year": After hearing displeasing news about the state of Danny's grades in a parent-teacher conference, Maddie lectures Danny by saying, "Get this straight Danny. You're a Fenton. Fentons get As. Or in your father's case, B minuses." Before this, when Danny tried to explain himself, Jack shuts him up with, "Now that's enough of your sass talk mister." Do a lot of parents act like this? Yes. Does that make this a good, conductive way to help your child improve their grades? No, it does not. In fact, Maddie's response in particular probably reinforces the idea that Danny doesn't fit in with the rest of his family and further proves that Jazz is the favorite child. Not a great parenting moment.
"Fright Knight": In this episode, Jack tells Danny, "If I didn't consider it a sign of weakness, I'd weep with joy!" Not a very promising sign when a parent tells their child that it's wrong to show emotion. It's especially telling, however, when it's crying from joy and not even sadness. Yikes.
"13": This is the episode where Jazz 'dates' Johnny briefly, and we see Danny stalking them on their dates. I've seen people give Danny a decent amount of flack for that as well, so this would be a good time to say that the Fenton parents were there too and even encouraged him to keep stalking his sister. Danny was wrong to ignore Jazz's privacy like that, but he definitely learned it somewhere.
"Public Enemies": Here we see more of the Fenton parents' aggression towards ghosts. We get a line from Jack: "I'm gonna tear that ghost kid apart into a million different-" Notice something here? He recognizes that Phantom is a ghost 'kid' and yet still fully intends to shoot at him with the intent to hurt if not straight-up kill him. The only time Maddie disagrees with him is to insist that she does the dirty work because she has better aim than him. These are not the type of people you should let children stay with.
"Maternal Instincts": Okay, I gotta say it, this is a really cute episode. We get to see Maddie reminiscing over how close she and Danny used to be and wishing they had that bond again. Unfortunately she does get some points docked off for deciding what they should do as a bonding activity instesd of asking what Danny wanted to do and maybe learning more about his interests and who he is as a person now that he's a teenager. But there is this really sweet moment where Maddie tells Danny 'I love you' at the campsite which absolutely melted my heart and then later on when she saves Danny from the ghosts, Danny tells her she's awesome and gives her a hug. So sweet. But then she kinda ruins it by asking her son to act as a distraction and- Please do not ask your teenage children to keep skeevy old guys 'entertained' when you know he's a creep. A POINT TO JACK, while all this is going on he's defending his daughter and even shouts, "Back off, she's a minor!" That's some Dr. Doofenshmirtz energy right there, I respect it. He also talks about making Jazz an action figure, which was a really cute moment amidst the chaos.
"The Million Dollar Ghost": This episode is filled with some great Danny-Jack bonding moments and goes to show how much Danny cares about his father that he's willing to get caught to make Jack feel better about himself. We also get to see how much Jack cares about how Danny views him and he wants to be someone in Danny's eyes. Unfortunately, this is the episode where Danny gets lectured for not doing all his lab chores, such as cleaning the beakers and changing the ecto-filtrator- despite knowing that the portal could blow up if they don't change in time and knowing that Danny is bad at cleaning his own room. And we literally get a scene where Jack knocks something over and tells Danny to clean it up because he was too busy running around to do it himself. Is it important to give children chores? Yes, it teaches them responsibility. You should not be asking them to deal with hazardous, dangerous chemicals that can literally cause an explosion capable of killing people. Something to keep in mind.
Now let's look at Season 2:
"Doctor's Disorders": In this lovely (sarcasm) episode, we have Jack saying to Danny's face: "Poor Jazz. She's always been my favorite." I don't feel like this one needs much more explanation for how horrible this is. Also, this isn't really too relevant to the bad-parent-thing and more to the "they wouldn't take Danny's reveal well under other circumstances" thing, because Maddie literally says to Tucker: "Everybody knows humans can't have ghost powers." Which would technically, probably, dehumanize Danny in their eyes.
"Identity Crisis": There's one line in particular in this episode I wanted to point out, which is from Jack where he says, "Safety features? Why, safety features are for punks." ...I know this is probably supposed to be a joke, but when you think about it, it's even worse than you might think. In fanon we do tend to stress how forgetful the Fentons are when it comes to lab safety, but it's one thing to forget and it's a whole other thing to purposefully dismiss it. I could even argue that we're doing the Fentons a service by characterizing them as simply forgetful.
"The Fenton Menace": This is one of the episodes I referenced in the original ask as well, for its... plethora of concerning material. There are lines such as, "Whether it's air land or sea I won't stop until we capture a ghost and tear it apart. Molecule by molecule." A POINT TO MADDIE, she told her family she loved them by saying, "Nothing like spending quality family time with the people you love." However she immediately loses those points when she and Jack attempt to 'spin the crazy' out of Danny. The episode transcript reveals Danny's reaction to this, which is described by, "Danny screaming, his face and hair flying around. Zoom out to show him strapped to a table, which is attached to a metal arm. Zoom out to show the metal arm connected to a centrifuge-like device on the ceiling." As well as, "Danny is shaking, hair sticking up with bags under his eyes." Is this supposed to be a joke? I wouldn't know because quite frankly, I'm not laughing.
"The Fright Before Christmas": So in this episode we learn why Danny hates Christmas! Which is because he got peed on by a dog. As a baby. What kind of parent lets their baby get peed on by a dog? Again, child neglect is a criminally punishable offense, and if they had left him out, in the cold, with dog piss on him, we could have had a lot bigger problems here. They also ignore both their children for most of this episode due to their arguing, although they go back later on and tell Danny that he shouldn't be alone for Christmas and where was all this concern before?
"Secret Weapons": Ah... This is the episode where it happens. Here we get the infamous interaction. Please note how a ghost is referred to as an 'it'. Not a person, not even a kid. But an 'it' that can feel pain that will go ignored.
Jazz: "Does it hurt the ghost?" Maddie: [laughs] "Oh, Jazz! You know your father and I don't care about that. Jack: "Yeah! If we hear it scream, then we know it's working."
"Micro-Management": At the very end of this episode, Jack makes a comment to Danny, "I'm so proud. Our boy finally has the physical prowess of a 60 year old president. Here's to you son." Clearly it's meant to be a compliment, but I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't take this as a compliment.
"Masters of All Time": This one takes a more distressing turn, because after Maddie catches Danny for snooping around, she has his strapped down to a table and fires a laser at him to interrogate him, thinking he's a ghost (though the laser doesn't hit him, just threatens him, which... isn't much better). And this is after he's already insisted that he's her son. He is still very clearly a child, and even if she doesn't believe that he's her son (for admittedly understandable reasons, people usually remember when they bear children), the fact that she strapped him to a table at all does not look favorably on her. Especially when he very clearly believed that she was his mother, and he was her son. And she still did this to him. Yes, there were time shenanigans involved, but that doesn't make this any easier on Danny just because he knows the truth.
"Reality Trip": This episode showcases that the Fenton parents can actually be decent parents. While they have a hard time believing the truth at first, they do eventually accept it. However, it is still important to remember that Danny could have never known what their reaction would be, so his fear is understandable and rooted in real concern for his life. Here are some of the best points from this transcript:
Jack: "Imagine, our own son has had ghost powers all this time and has kept them a secret from us. [confused] But we love him! [turning to Maddie] I wonder why he didn't trust us enough to tell us." Jazz: "[sarcastically] Hmm, let me guess. [mimicking Jack] "Hey, Maddie, let's destroy the ghost!" [mimicking Maddie] "No, Jack, let's dissect the ghost." [mimicking Jack again] "I know, let's catch the ghost and rip it apart molecule by molecule!" [normal voice, sarcastic again] You guys are so understanding." [Jack and Maddie drop their gazes, ashamed.]
Moving onto Season 3:
"Eye for an Eye": This is more a passing mention, but Jack seems to be a little obsessed with the GIW and huge fans of their work, and you do see it some more in "Livin' Large" later on in the season as well.
"Girls' Night Out": We see Jack trying to make an effort with Danny in this episode again. I did point out in the original ask reply that Jack was obviously trying to be a good father for Danny, which definitely deserves some points. However, it is still important to point out how generally uninterested Danny was in the bonding activity. It goes back to how Maddie ignored the chance to give Danny a choice, and how dismissive they tend to be towards him. I still want to award Jack a point for looking for advice from 'Father/Son Relationships For Stupids!' but I do so half-heartedly. Their interactions in this episode definitely reek with discomfort, but considering everything that has gone down in between now and "The Million Dollar Ghost", that does make sense.
"Torrent of Terror": This is another instance of extreme lack of safety precautions- the airbags don't deploy? In the GAV??? Somewhere out there, OSHA is crying.
"Forever Phantom": Maddie and Jack show a lot of anti-Phantom rhetoric in this episode. So this tracks how uncomfortable and/or threatened Danny might feel at home. Some examples include:
Jack: "He keeps this up he's liable to make people forget he's nothing but a putrid rancid ball of self-aware protoplasm."
Maddie: "Don't be fooled sweetie. He's up to something. Remember that time he attacked the mayor? Or stole everyone's Christmas presents? Once a filthy ghost always a filthy ghost."
"Livin' Large": Something to remember, the GIW intend to fire a missile into the Ghost Zone after gaining access to the Fentons' portal. While they didn't have the password right away, it cannot be understated that the Fentons basically gave away their house in exchange for wealth. Thankfully the missile was just a fake and not a real weapon of mass destruction, but do not mistake this to mean that- had it been real- the GIW wouldn't have gone through with it. And the Fenton parents would have been just as responsible.
And that concludes our canon research for this argument! Let's wrap things up with some stats. Of the 49 episodes in the show, we have evidence in 21 episodes. That is roughly 43% of the show, and this does not include comments that Danny has made about his parents and how they treat him. Obviously, at the end of the day, human error is possible. There is always a chance that I could have missed another piece of information, or perhaps another thoughtful addition to this list. However, 43% is no laughing matter.
Yes, the Fenton parents had their shining moments, but with all the other evidence presented that overshadows those little gems, can you confidently say that they are good parents? And most of all, if you were in Danny's shoes, would you say the same thing?
It's easy to excuse this as a cartoon. When you're writing in this world, playing with these characters, that excuse instantly evaporates.
Thank you for reading, I hope you all learned something about the Fenton parents like I did.

Y/n quickly learns that touring with the brothers she is so emotionally intertwined with is not all that it’s cracked up to be.
Read part seven here
Listen while reading: Money for Nothing - Dire Straits, Voodoo Child (slight return) - Jimi Hendrix, Pride and Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughan
Pairing: sam kiszka x f!reader, jake kiszka x f!reader
Word Count: 12k
Warnings: drinking, swearing, smoking, arguing, jealousy/intentional jealousy, insecurity, angst, sad Jake, flirting, making out, brief emotional talks, sorry if I miss any!
finally!! most of this is light hearted fun, but the end is clearly setting the tone for the following chapters. the calm before the storm, perhaps 🥰 sorry for the wait, and sorry if this is not my best work! im just trying to bridge the gap and set the themes before we get into the gritty emotional stuff next. as always, enjoy, be kind, and don’t mind any grammar mistakes!! (p.s. this is super lightly edited 🫣)
Your bag dropped to the ground with a pathetic echo, the sound barely breaking through the dead air of the hotel room. It seemed just as exhausted as you were, and you found the slump of the fabric on the track bag ironically funny, because you felt like doing just the same. You kicked your shoes off at the door, immediately looking to the bed with longing in your eyes. Before you could get the chance to shut the door and climb under the covers, a surge of voices rang from down the hallway. You made your first mistake of the day as you peeked your head around the corner to investigate. Immediately, you saw your bandmates following behind Danny, who was moving towards your room with mischievous intent written all over his features.
By the time you had registered what was happening, Danny was close enough to reach out and touch you. You took a step backwards, a fruitless attempt at escape, but his hands were already reaching out for you. His fingers closed around your wrist just in enough time to pull you back into the hallway. “Danny!” You exclaimed, feeling a laugh break from your lips despite your disinterest in their antics.
“What do you think you’re doing? Trying to get away from us?” He questioned, raising an eyebrow as he spoke.
“Was hoping to take a nap before the show tonight. You know, so I don’t fall sleep on stage.” You rolled your eyes, but that answer was unacceptable for him.
“Oh come on, you’re gonna sleep away your first day of tour? Don’t let a little travel get you down.” Your two bandmates nodded their heads in agreement, standing guard with their arms crossed over their chests.
“I’m okay with that.” You nodded. It was uncharacteristic of you to refuse a party, but your bones were aching with sleepiness, begging you to rest on a mattress even for a moment.
“Yeah, but I’m not.” He said, reaching into his pocket and grabbing a mini bottle of fireball. “Drink up, sound check is in two hours.” You watched him, hoping for him to change his mind, but he had never looked so serious. You grabbed it, although openly reluctant about doing so. “That’s my girl.” He basked in his victory only for a moment before crouching to the ground.
“Danny, I’m not getting on your shoulders.” You refused. It was a charade the two of you seemed to fancy when you were drunk, but you were far too sober to entertain the idea now.
“Come on, have some fun!” He exclaimed, clearly over your displeasure with his attempts to set the mood. You let out a sigh, but ultimately did as he asked. You were never one to say no to Danny, especially when he seemed so happy. “Aha!” He spoke in triumph as he secured his hands on your thighs. He rose to his feet, and you ducked your head instinctively. The ceilings were high, not near close enough for you to hit your head, but your anxiety seemed to be much worse when you didn’t have any false confidence from alcohol.
“Don’t drop me, Daniel.” You scolded, holding onto his hands secured on your legs.
“Shut up and take the shot.” He chuckled, both of you knowing that dropping you was the last thing he would do, and if he did, he would cushion your fall just to make sure you wouldn’t get a scrape. He was the best friend you had ever had, and you were always a priority to him. He stopped in front of another door, loosening his grip on your leg only for a second to knock on the wood. After a few seconds, shuffling could be heard from inside the room, and Josh popped out from behind the door. He let out an immediate boom of laughter at the sight, clearly equally as thrilled about the first day of tour. Danny carefully grabbed another fireball shot from his pocket and handed it to the boy. He accepted and joined the party without a single exchange of words. You realized that this must be a normal antic for the boys, which also came with the realization that you had willingly signed up for months of the same torture.
“Two more to go.” Danny smiled.
“How many shots do you have?” You questioned, genuinely curious about the collection he was hoarding.
“Enough.” Was all he replied. Another door was knocked on, and Sam joined the party.
“Seems you’ve gotten taller.” Sam noted, looking up at you with a twinkle in his eyes. You wanted to chastise him, to sit back another witty remark, but every time you looked at him for a moment too long, all of the thoughts seemed to disappear from your brain. He always stole the moment, shining brighter than anything else. Instead of waiting for a response, he cracked the cap of the shot and tilted his head back, drinking down the liquid with nothing to spare.
You were hyper aware that the last person to retrieve was Jake, and you were excited to see him, although a bit nervous. Since the fiasco of the tour agreement signing, you and Jake had been distant. Not by an overwhelming margin, but definitely enough to notice. You were withdrawn because of your guilt for pushing him away, and he was withdrawn due to his hurt from you doing so. In your moments and nights spent alone, you could feel the tension in the air. It was minimal, but completely unspoken. Even the sex seemed to be different, definitely still phenomenal but a little less emotionally gratifying. You were both aching for connection, but couldn’t seem to find the right words to express it. You hadn’t seen him much on the plane, and you were itching to catch a glimpse of him, like an addict looking for a fix.
Sam, on the other hand, had grown quite fond of your company after the shared sweetness that night in his car. He felt closer to you than he ever had, and he wasn’t willing to give that up. In the weeks leading up to the start of tour, you had found yourself playing house with him more than usual, spending the night and drifting through the morning in minimal clothing and hearts dancing in your eyes. Morning coffee no longer tasted the same without his company, and the sunrise was a little less pleasant when he wasn’t there to share it with you.
Even with the space in your bed spoken for and the mornings laced with a promise of love, you couldn’t help but miss Jake. Every now and again, you yearned for that first morning spent with him, with his hands around your waist and his sweet nothings whispered in your ear. The serenity of cooking breakfast while he plucked away at a guitar and wordlessly dedicated songs to you; it was a subtle show of affection because, like always, he had been too afraid to speak it into existence. Your heart still ached for Jake, even with Sam loving you so deeply. He could tell; your eyes spoke it louder than any words you could say. You loved Sam, and he knew that even if you had refrained from saying it aloud, but he knew you loved his brother, too. He chose not to mention the pain he felt at the thought.
The debacle the three of you found yourself in had been going on for months, now. All of you were tired, ready for it to be over, but nobody was willing to give up. By refusing to let go, all of you were simply allowing the hurt to grow. If a choice in the beginning was impossible, it had grown into something even more catastrophic than what it started as. You prided yourself on being a levelheaded person, someone who was calculated and well thought out, but this mess was something so uncharacteristic for you. Had you been half the person you viewed yourself as, you would have put a stop to it long ago. You were a fool for both of them, and a fool for thinking you could outsmart them in their own game.
“Open up!” Danny sang as he knocked on the door of the last brothers room.
“M’coming!” He grumbled from inside. Within a moment, he appeared looking just as tired as you were feeling. He paused his movements, head just slight cocked to the side as he took in the sight before him. Slowly, his head upturned to you perched on Danny’s shoulders. You gave him a smile, one that showed him just how happy you were that he decided to join. His eyes softened at your expression, any gruff exterior melting away within an instant.
“Fireball?” You asked, carefully reaching down to hand him your bottle.
“You shouldn’t have.” He chuckled, retrieving the shot from you. He let his fingers rest on yours for a second extra, desperately wanting a moment of closeness with you. “But what about you?” A smirk tugged at his lips.
“Plenty more where that came from.” Danny answered for you, content that you seemed to be enjoying the energy, now. “Onward!” He sounded, turning quickly to go back in the direction you all came from. You grabbed on to him, holding yourself steady in fear of being dropped. He tightened his grip on your legs, a silent reassurance that he had you, and he wouldn’t let you go. “You know, I think we should try beer pong like this.” He theorized.
“I think that’s cheating.” You replied, seeing him near the door of your room.
“I’d let it slide.” Josh said, as if he were the commissioner of the game. Danny let out a noise of triumph, happy that he had someone on his side to disregard your arguments. He led everyone into your room, immediately walking to your bed and leaning backwards. You let out a shriek of terror as you began to lose your balance, but he loosened his grip on your thighs. You fell to the mattress, landing with a thud and a chorus of laughter from the audience surrounding you.
“Asshole,” you grumbled as you straightened yourself out.
“Here,” Danny threw a mini bottle at you. It landed beside you, catching your attention and distracting you from the excitement of the moment. “Drink up.” You did as you were told, cracking the cap and draining the alcohol from the bottle. The burn settled deep in your chest, the cinnamon overpowering and warming your body. Although the burn was not comparable to both of the familiar sets of eyes on you, neither thinking anything wholesome.
Sam was by the door, lost in chatter with Dylan and Riley, but his gaze was only settled on you. It did not matter who he was caught in conversation with, or what he was busy doing, you were permanently in the forefront of his mind. Jake was talking to Josh, small business about the show tonight and the importance of an opening night. Even though the context of the talk was about his passion, his biggest dream in which he’d been working his whole life to achieve, you were still heavily weighing on his thoughts. Jake was not even attempting to hide his stare; Josh was aware, and uncaring of the infatuation between the two of you. He continued speaking despite knowing Jake’s attention was not directed at him.
“Another?” Danny asked, pulling a few more bottles from his pocket.
“Jesus,” you laughed, amazed at the amount of alcohol he had shoved in the pocket of his jeans. “I’d like to make it to the concert, tonight.”
“Oh, you will. Don’t worry about that.” He assured you. “We’re celebrating your first day on tour ever. Isn’t it exciting?” He questioned, taking a seat next to you. You turned to face him, your back to the brothers in hopes to forget about their lingering eyes and wistful thoughts. You have a shrug, plucking another shot from his hand.
“Of course,” you nodded, but your tone was withdrawn.
“You’re nervous.” He stated, narrowing his gaze at you.
“No,” you scoffed, but avoided meeting his eyes at all costs. He could read you like a book; he didn’t need you to say the words for him to know. “Yeah.” You finally changed your stance when he refused to look away. “It’s normal, is it not? I mean, those people are there to see you guys, not us. And your fans… they can be ruthless, sometimes. I’m about to give my entire soul to the public, everything I’ve been scared of for my whole life. I think it’s okay to be a little scared.”
“Of course it is, y/n, but if you’re scared because you don’t think you have the talent, that’s not okay.” He corrected. You drank down the second shot, finally feeling a touch of relief from the anxiety constricting your chest. You took a deep breath as you swallowed down the alcohol, bargaining with your fear.
“I mean, I guess.” You sighed. “Fear of not being good enough is just as normal as anything else.”
“Not when you have as much talent as you do.” His answer was final, no willingness to debate the issue any further. “You’re going to get up there, and they’re going to love you just as much as they love us. You’re going to do fantastic, y/n. I’m not worried and you shouldn’t be, either.”
“Thank you, Danny.” You smiled. The warmth of his sincerity alone was enough to make you feel better, but his company worked even better. “I am excited, but I think the anxiety gets in the way of that sometimes.”
“Trust me, when you get in your stage clothes and they put your makeup on, you’ll feel like a whole new person. It’s a different kind of feeling, like you’re the most extravagant version of yourself and you can take on the whole world.” He assured you, taking a shot of his own. “Plus, we’ll be there on the sidelines cheering louder than anyone else. If you get nervous, just look for me.” He grinned. Sometimes you were overwhelmed by the support and love that Danny gave you. It was more than you had ever felt in your life, and you hoped he never stopped. Friendship with Danny was more beautiful than most simple pleasures in life, and he proved that love existed in many different ways, and even stronger than romantic by times.
“I love you.” You smiled, feeling the tension whither away indefinitely.
“I love you.” He said, glancing past you for a moment. “I think lover boy is jealous that I’m getting a moment alone with you.”
“Fuck, which one?” You sighed, rolling your eyes at the thought.
“Both.” He muttered, laughing to himself. “Any sign of stopping?”
“Plenty, but it seems like I’m colourblind, now. The stop signs look green and the red flags look pink.” You mumbled, twirling a frayed string from the rip in your jeans around your finger. “But the show must go on, right?”
“Not necessarily.” He shrugged. “Effect from cause, remember? If you’re hurting, you can stop it at the source.”
“I think that would hurt worse.” You gave a sad smile, shaking the idea from your head. “It doesn’t matter. It’s my own fault, so I’ll fix it somehow.” You advised, shuffling to your feet. “Thanks for the pep talk. I needed it.” You spoke softly as you moved towards the large glass doors on the other side of your room. Danny watched you walk away, realizing that pre-show anxiety might not be the only thing that was troubling you. He let you slip on to the balcony with no intent to follow. He loved you enough to recognize when you needed to be alone, and solitude was what you were craving. You were fine with the crowd hanging around your room, but you were searching for a moment of peace in hopes to decompress from the days activities.
You broke out into the afternoon air, surrounded by the distant sounds of the city. The sky was blue, cloudless and beholding the type of beauty you couldn’t recreate in a picture. You rummaged through your sweater pocket, locating a pack of cigarettes, and pulled one out. You took a seat on the patio chair, lighting the end and watching the flame from the lighter fizzle away in the wind. The building was tall, taller than any you had ever seen in your hometown, and you were nestled nearly at the top. You’d seen plenty of skyscrapers in Nashville, but upon your arrival in Atlanta you couldn’t believe how many people littered the streets of the cities you had never been privileged enough to visit.
You thought of your younger self, how excited she would be for you now, how thrilled she would be that you had broken free of the generational curses and you were finally living your dream. If only she could understand that implications of dreams were dangerous, and just because you were living the life you had hoped for did not mean you were perfectly content. Ever since the confessional of your broken childhood to Sam, it had been looming over your head like a sinister nightmare. You felt more pain over the memories of your past than you ever had before. You were forever wounded from the scars you had collected from loving the brothers now, and your body was giving way underneath the weight of your wrongs.
You were living your dream, yet you were so worn down that it was painful to enjoy it. You felt guilty for not being able to have fun; you knew you should be joyous, celebrating and drinking with the rest of your friends, but the ache that settled in your chest was almost too strong to withstand. Laughing felt foreign, and you thought that fun could not come without crushing guilt following it. You wished so badly that you could fall out of love as fast as you fell in love, but it just wasn’t possible. For a while, you felt like you were ahead, winning by possessing the ability of control, but they had their teeth in you, and as the days passed, claws, too. They were tearing you apart and you were letting them. The grief was growing, rooting into your bones and metastasizing on your soul while you mourned something you hadn’t even lost yet. But, loss was familiar even if you weren’t aware you were feeling it; you had lost yourself, respect for yourself, and the sense of right and wrong. You’d spent months believing you were gaining something from their love, but it simply wasn’t true. You’d given up so much of yourself amidst loving them that you were unrecognizable, now. The losses outweighed the benefits, and you were finally beginning to understand.
In your journey of learning how to love, you had quickly learned that loving was not easy. You can love and hurt at the same time, just the same as you can die while the sun is shining. As you sat under the sun, cigarette smoking in your hand, you realized that you already were. You were inviting it, welcoming death with open arms just to enjoy the peacefulness as you drifted. You were out of ideas on how to satiate the pain without inviting it back into your life, no idea how to heal the wounds without reopening them. The pain was worsened by them, but healed by them, too, and you were at the end of the road. Your last flame was flickering away, and they were out of fuel to keep it going. Instead of protecting it, you chose to focus on attempting to warm yourself with their fire, ignorant to the fact that their flames were producing a wind strong enough to turn you to dust.
“Hasn’t anyone told you that those are bad for you?” His voice cut through the serenity like a knife, breaking you from your internal brooding. It was so familiar, so comforting, yet left a lasting burn on your skin. He was comfort, but he was also catastrophe. Unfortunately for you, you were so comfortable in chaos that you loved him despite the disaster.
“Woke up a hypocrite, today?” You asked, not bothering to turn and look to him. For once, you weren’t yearning for the moment with him. You were perfectly fine with being upset, and perfectly fine without his help.
“Ouch,” he said, taking the seat beside you. “Just because I do it doesn’t mean I want you to do it, too. Not allowed to worry about you anymore?”
“I think you should stop worrying, Jacob.” You said, still refusing to look at him.
“I thought you quit?” He refused to give up, knowing that being on the receiving of your standoffish nature was better than not speaking to you at all.
“Living the rockstar lifestyle, now. Have to look the part.” You joked, but your tone was flat. You both fell into a silence, listening to the sound of cars passing below. You wanted to touch him, but you were afraid that you would give too much of yourself to him once more. It was so easy to give everything to Jake, even when he wasn’t asking for it.
“I miss you, y/n.” His admission was prompted by nothing but his own heart. The distance between you two was larger than it ever had been, and he was desperate to bridge the gap. He craved that connection he felt with you in the beginning, and he was fearful that all of the time you spent with Sam was locking him into a corner. He regretted pushing you to tell him your troubles, scared that it drove you even further away from him.
“I miss you, Jake.” You finally looked over at him, the sight of his face giving you nothing but pain. He caught your eye, holding your gaze but doing nothing more. He didn’t reach for you, not even expressing a thought that he would. He wanted you to reach for him, he needed to feel like you still wanted him as badly as he wanted you. If only he knew how much you wanted to tell him, he would never have to worry. You wanted to be everything for him; the best version of yourself, one that knew how to love properly and how to be loved by another, one who could give him the entire world, but you were fearful that you would never be that person, that you couldn’t be that person.
“When are you going to let me in, Gold Dust Woman?” He asked, looking back out over the balcony rail. The cloud of emotion radiating from him was so large that it was beginning to fill the sky with confessions and desires.
“I’m trying.” You whispered, flicking the ash off of your cigarette and watching as it fluttered to the ground. “I don’t know how.”
“Do you want to?”
“Yeah.” You admitted. “I really do, Jake, but it’s hard.”
“I think it’s time you let go of the idea that intimacy is easy.” He said, no passion nor desperation in his voice. He was fighting the battle with nonchalance despite every molecule in his body screaming for salvation. He had become painfully aware that emotion was not easy for you, but it was still excruciatingly difficult to contain his own. “You’ve been searching for the simple solution, but you need to understand that it’s not supposed to be easy. If it was, this would have been over a long time ago.” You wanted to be angry, upset that he shoved words down your throat that you didn’t want to hear, but he was right. Simplicity was extremely tempting, but it was not the answer to your questions. If you continued to search blindly for it, you would remain on the same journey until you died empty-handed and alone. “If you want to love me, you can. If you want to love him, you can. Sam and I aren’t strangers to the world we’ve been living in. I know you love him. I can see it. I can feel it when you look at him, y/n. I’m not asking you to stop feeling that way for him. I’m just hoping that you feel it for me, too. I think that you do, but I need to know if this is more than just sex, or if I’m only waiting to get my heart broken.”
“You’re an idiot if you can’t see it.” You were harsh, unbelieving of the fact that he was unsure if you felt that way for him. “It’s never been about sex, Jake. Maybe that first night, but never after that. If Sam gave me the world, and you didn’t, why would I still be here?” You asked, pulling your knees to your chest on the flimsy chair. Your cigarette was long burnt to a butt in your hand, but you continued holding it so you wouldn’t reach for another. You did feel obligated to teach them a lesson, but you never would have subjected him to so much pain if you felt nothing for him. “I don’t know how to let you in. I’ve spent my entire life trying to keep everyone out. Before you and Sam, I never needed to open up. I apologize for struggling, but it’s never been because I don’t want you.”
“There you go.” He whispered, looking back at you with more hope in his eye than before. “I’m not asking to be your hiding place for every secret. I would always keep it safe for you, but I know that’s too much to expect. I just need to know that you care. I think we’ve been doing this long enough for me to ask.”
“Like I said, Jacob. Idiot.” Your words were insulting, but a smile was tugging at your lips. There was one on his, too. “Don’t convince yourself you’re not special, because you know it’s not true. You know what you mean to me.”
“Don’t have to be so mean about it.” He joked, but the tension was nonexistent. You were back in the realm of comfortability that you hadn’t felt in a long time.
“I think we’ve been doing this long enough for me to say that.” You shot back his own statement. “In fact, I think you like it.”
“Sadist,” he whispered, hopeful for normalcy. He was rewarded when extended your hand out to him, which he slipped into his own eagerly. Silence became you as you both leaned back in your chairs, fingers interlocked while looking down upon the city. Although normal was not even close to what the current situation was, it was normal for you and Jake, and that was all that mattered.
“Are you excited?” He broke the silence after a long while without conversation.
“Scared.” You corrected. “Seems like fear is the only thing I know how to feel.”
“You’ll blow them away, Gold Dust Woman.” He assured you, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. “I didn’t give you that nickname for nothing.”
“I can’t believe you talked me into this.” And you meant it. It was beyond you that Jake was able to persuade you to join them on tour, and although he did not single-handedly convince you, he definitely did the brunt of the work.
“You’ll change your mind after tonight. I promise.” He assured you, still trying to keep his eyes off of you. He felt if he looked in your direction again, he would never be able to look away. “Once the dream comes to life, you’ll never look back. You’ll want to live in it forever.”
“You’re telling that to someone who’s created a life from running away.”
“At least slow down to look at the sights, this time.” You broke, looking over at him in a moment of weakness. Through the storm weathering your brain, he was the moment of serenity. It was like driving under a bridge during a hurricane, loud for so long until you were covered by his shadow and blessed with silence.
“I am.” You promised, the two words strong and full of hope for something better. “I’ve been angry with myself for not knowing how to change, but it’s time to learn.” You explained. “I’m done running, and I’m trying not to be afraid anymore.”
“And I’m proud of you for it.” He finally caught your gaze again, weak from the power you had over him. “I’ll be proud of you forever, even if it has to be from a distance. Even if you don’t pick me, Gold Dust Woman.” He hoped the profession wouldn’t cause another rift between you, but the truth was that you had been waiting years for someone to say something so meaningful to you. When he said it the first time, it was too overwhelming to accept. Now, you could listen to him say it forever. Little by little, he was breaking down the wall.
“I…” Love you. “Like you, Jake. A lot.” You couldn’t muster the strength for the truth, but he knew. Even without the proper word spoken, he could feel the power of the statement.
“I like you, too.” He said, leaning in for a kiss. It was short, but sweet and filled with love. If you weren’t okay with speaking it aloud, he could settle for showing you. “We should probably get ready to head to the venue.” He said, regretful for pulling away. He wished he could kiss you until his lips turned blue and his lungs could no longer remember what oxygen felt like.
“Yeah, you’re probably right.” You agreed, but wished you could stay, too.
“I’ll come and see you before you get on stage.” He promised. “Just so you know your biggest fan is cheering you on.”
“You don’t need to be there for me to know that.” You murmured, nose still brushing with his own. He left another kiss on your lips, the sweetness strong enough to last until he could get the chance again.
The two of you filtered back into the hotel room to join the crowd. Your chest felt lighter, like Jake had picked up some of the weight that was dragging you down and put it upon his own shoulders. In a sense, he did. Jake was always willing to carry some of your struggle so you could walk with ease, even if it was a bit too heavy for him to handle. You grabbed your bag from the floor, picking through it to grab your wallet and any other necessities for the night. By the time you collected your belongings, the rest of the company dwindled away, returning to their own rooms to do the same. Jake did not stay to chat, but he did give you a look of longing before emerging into the hallway. He didn’t stay long enough to see it, but you gave him one just the same.
When you arrived at the venue, the sheer size of the building was overwhelming. It was a long journey from playing bars around town to opening for a world tour. A regular crowd for your local shows wouldn’t even fill a single section of this venue. Riley slipped an arm around your shoulder, sensing the return of your anxiety. He was incredibly understanding, mostly because they were both feeling the pressure too. When you entered the back door, event organizers were pointing you in the correct directions. You tried to swallow your nerves, but seeing how naturally the boys responded only made you realize how much of an amateur you were at their craft.
“You guys are up first for soundcheck,” Aaron said, nodding towards the stage. “We do most of the work, so just play a few songs. If something sounds off, let us know.”
“Oh, o-okay,” you nodded, looking to your bandmates. They seemed eager to get out there, like they were counting down the minutes until they could finally play for the world. You wished to dig a hole and hide in it forever; you never felt more out of place than you did in that moment.
“We’re okay.” Dylan assured you. “It’s going to be fine.” You gave another nod, letting the other to lead the way to the stage. Your instruments were set up, ready to go so the sound check could run smoothly.
You grabbed your guitar, throwing the strap over your head. You plucked a few of the strings, caught off guard by the volume. Riley did the same with a grin eating away at his cheeks, wanting to test the volume for himself. Dylan couldn’t contain her laughter at the excitement dancing in his eyes, hitting a few off beats to join in on the moment. It seemed like the sound of the music had struck a nerve in all of you. The sheer excitement from the volume was enough to keep you going. “Give me something to work with.” You broke out of your shell, joking with the drummer. She was pleased with your response, taking your comment and running with it.
She began a familiar beat, the sound ringing through the empty stadium. The noise was so strong that you could feel it in your chest, rattling your bones and overtaking your heartbeat, but it was fantastic. You had never felt more alive; all the fears you had been feeling seemed to float away, replaced with electricity from the booming beat of the drum. After a few moments, you hit a couple chords on the guitar. The clean tone wasn’t good enough for you, though. You took a step towards the pedalboard and engaged one of the switches with your foot. The distortion kicked in, prompting a smile on your lips. Dylan hit a high, her arms moving faster than you could comprehend, and then she stopped completely. There was stagnant air only for a second before you started the main riff of the song. Once you ran through it, Dylan and Riley joined.
“Now look at them yo-yo’s, that’s the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain’t workin, that’s the way you do it
Money for nothing and your chicks for free.”
You stopped playing as you finished, opting not to play the entire song and eager to move onto something a little harder. You looked between the two, your smile never leaving your face. “Let’s pick up the pace.” You teased, breathless and your cheeks stained red.
“Try me.” She challenged.
You turned off the distortion, clicking another pedal to replace the effect. You hovered your foot over the Wah pedal and began an intro to Voodoo Child. The other two joined and Riley began singing the lyrics to the song. You finished without a hitch, all of you giggly and high off the adrenaline rush.
“You want a challenge?” Riley asked. You nodded, listening intently for him to begin a bass line. He plucked a few familiar notes, lighting a fire in you.
“You’re on.” You cut him off, switching your pedals again. He lowered his hand, taking a step away from the mic in anticipation. You took a breath, closing your eyes for a moment to channel the right energy. He had picked a hard song, and you were unsure if you could pull it off, but you were more than willing to try. You took a look over your shoulder before starting, catching the staring eyes of the four boys watching in awe. Jake wasn’t even attempting to hide his stare, falling more in love with you every time your fingers graced the strings of the Les Paul. His eyes flickered to your face, hoping to catch a glimpse of your beauty in the moment. When he realized you were already looking at him, he sent a smile your way. You gave him a wink, but didn’t wait to see a reaction.
Your fingers carried the tune from muscle memory. It was fast, hard to keep up with even when you were the one setting the pace. You took a step to the microphone, Riley already well aware that you were leading the way. It was your favourite song to play, and one of the most difficult to beat in comparison to any other. It was a show stopper, and clearly he was looking to set the record straight with your talent. He knew that you belonged on the stage, but he wanted you to realize it, too. You sang through the first verse, extra concentrated to ensure you didn’t make any mistakes. When the chorus came around, the tension in your shoulders dissipated indefinitely, and you were one with the guitar as you played.
“He’s my sweet little thing,
He’s my pride and joy
He’s my sweet little baby,
He’s my little lover boy.”
You laughed into the mic as you sang and Riley jumped right into the next verse. He sang the second chorus, looking over to you as he led you into the solo. You took a step back from the microphone and towards the bassist, leaning into him as you played. He laughed at your antics, leaning forward as well while his fingers continued to move on the fretboard. Dylan was giggling as she tried to keep time with you both, always finding your performance hilarious. Being on stage seemed to bring out an entirely new side of you, but it was fantastic for them to see. You had a passion for performing, and if you could, you would stay on stage and sing until your lungs gave out. It was getting up there that was the trouble, and never anything that came after.
You both moved back to the microphones to finish the song, singing the lyrics together for the finale. When you plucked the final note, you barely had time to comprehend the loss of the music before cheers erupted from the side stage. You looked over at the group of boys, skin still tingling with the euphoric feeling of playing live music. Aaron gave you a thumbs up, happy with the sound and signalling that you guys were good. You placed your guitar back on it’s stand, rushing off to meet the group waiting for you. “We sound okay?” You asked, looking between them with a hopeful gleam in your eye.
“Okay?” Sam scoffed.
“Try amazing.” Josh corrected.
“Three man band really is all you need.” Danny smiled.
“Stevie Ray Vaughan?” Jake questioned, an eyebrow raised. The entire group turned to look at him, wondering if he was really going to critique the performance.
“Yeah,” you breathed, suddenly feeling nervous. ‘Was it that bad?’ You thought to yourself, shifting your weight on your feet.
“You have to be one phenomenal guitarist to pull that off.” He said, gaze still lingering over your face. He had a far away look in his eye, like his mind was completely elsewhere. “I think that you played it even better than he did. That was fantastic, Gold Dust Woman.” The term of endearment slipped out, like a little secret he’d been burying for a lifetime was finally too strong to withstand. He was too in love with you to notice, and you were too ecstatic to care. Hearing such a compliment from Jake was more intoxicating than any kind of substance you could use. You wished you could live in the cloud of elation from his words forever.
Before you could speak to thank him, you were being pulled in another direction from a set of unfamiliar hands. The event staff was whisking you away to your dressing room, but you weren’t ready to leave. You wanted to tell him how much his compliment meant to you, to stay and admire his beauty for just a moment longer. Looking at Jake was like wishing upon a shooting star; normally, your hopes felt feeble, but the sight of him before you served as a reminder that all dreams could come true if you wished hard enough. Before you were completely out of reach, he managed to reach for your hand and give it a gentle squeeze. Your fingers broke from him while still caught in a plea for more, but you had things to do that did not include his company.
“Gold Dust Woman?” Dylan asked, both her and Riley following along close behind you. The staff directed you into a dressing room, stating that this would be yours and your stylist would join you shortly. “Did the name come from him, or does he call you that because of the name?”
“Lines a little blurred there, honestly. I couldn’t tell you.” You shrugged, stepping inside the room. Riley went his separate way, being led down the hallway to a different area. But Dylan wasn’t one to quit, never leaving your side until you were unable to escape her.
“Come on, y/n.” She pried, a laugh stuck in her throat.
“Yes, the name came from him.” You snipped, taking a seat on the couch. She sat beside you, kicking her feet up on the table sitting in front of her and making herself at home.
“I thought you and Sam were a thing. Doesn’t it bother him that you named your band after Jakes nickname for you?” It was your turn to laugh, the question so incredibly hard to answer that it was more humorous than anything.
“Yes, Sam and I are a thing.” You said, sinking down into the cushions. She watched, waiting for you to continue. When you didn’t, her eyes widened in shock.
“Him, too?”
“Him first, actually.” You muttered. “It’s all so fucked up.
“They’re brothers,” she said, looking off into the distance as she processed the information. “Promiscuous.” She giggled, looking back at you. “Good for you.”
“No, not good.” You chuckled, still finding her jokes funny despite the twisted premise of the conversation. “It’s a mess, and I don’t know how to get out of it.”
“Clearly, if you named the band after him.” She let out another giggle, shaking her head at the new information as she reiterated her point. “You’re a smart girl. You’ll figure it out.” She assured you.
“Haven’t felt very smart lately.” You sighed as you looked up at her. She gave a sympathetic nod, but wasn’t anywhere near ready to end the conversation yet.
“They’re cute, so you have that going for you at least.” You both shared a laugh, unable to refute the fact. “How long?”
“Couple months.”
“And you’ve been keeping it a secret from me for that long?” She feigned a look of hurt.
“Guess I thought if I didn’t talk about it, it would work itself out. I was wrong.”
“It’s okay to be wrong sometimes. Happens to all of us.” She shrugged. “I thought Gold Dust Woman came from your love for Fleetwood Mac. I was wrong. Very wrong.” You both divulged into another laugh, one that made your stomach ache and your lungs desperate for oxygen.
“Which one are you in love with?” She asked, ceasing her laughter but holding her smile. You looked up to meet her eyes, unable to give her the proper answer. “I mean, whichever one you choose should be the one you fell in love with. After this long, you should know that by now.”
“Both of them.” You mumbled, looking to your hands in your lap. “I love them both, for completely different reasons.”
“Ouch,” she winced, not expecting the bluntness of your words. “That makes it tough, then.”
“You have no idea.” You replied, cut off by a body entering the room carrying two large suitcases worth of supplies.
“Alright, y/n?” The unknown woman asked, eyes drifting between you both. You raised your hand, giving her a smile. “You’re up first for makeup and wardrobe.”
“I’ll leave you to it.” Dylan slapped her hands to her thighs before making a move to stand. You gave her an apologetic smile, but she was out the door before she even noticed. You turned your attention to the girl you had yet to be introduced to, giving her a warm grin, excited for what she had in store for you.
She ushered you over to the chair on the other side of the room. You took a seat, but didn’t speak a word until she got a good look at you, familiarizing herself with your face. “I’m your stylist. Specifically yours, but I do work with Greta’s team occasionally. I’m Rachel.” She hummed, running her fingers through your hair.
“Nice to meet you.” You said, looking at your reflection in the mirror while she studied you. You could already tell you were going to like her; she had an exuberant attitude that drew you in, even with her minimal conversation.
“I have lots of stuff planned for you, but I want to hear your thoughts.” She said, pulling another chair up beside you. She took a seat, leaning back and watching your face. “What do you want to look like? Who do you want to be when you get up on that stage?” You pondered her words, thinking hard about the personality you wanted to encase.
“Confident. I want to be me, but just more confident.” You deducted. “Don’t have a whole lot of that normally, so I want something to make me look like I am. Maybe I’ll actually feel it once I get out there.” She nodded as you spoke.
“I like it.” She smiled. “Are you a bold colour type of person, or do you like darker?”
“Darker clothes usually, but I don’t mind a bit of excitement.” She chuckled.
“You’re comfortable with makeup?” You nodded. She repeated your action, standing once again. “Alright, I think I’ve got it figured out.”
She got to work, starting with your makeup. You made as much small talk as the situation would allow, but mostly just enjoyed being pampered. It was something you had never experienced before, and you were enjoying being able to sit back and relax while somebody else was doing the brainstorming for the final look. She was agile with her hands, quick at her job and damn good at it, too. When she finished your makeup, she took a step back for you to admire the sight. You had a black smokey eye, bold and yet elegant looking. It was complimented by a precise wing of gold eyeliner that made your eyes stand out. Deep contour and a dusty blush plastered your cheeks, and your lips shined with a glossy glow. Where highlighter usually sat, she had arranged a few gold star stickers that shimmered under the light. Your eyebrows were done neatly and false eyelashes sat on your eyelids.
You barely recognized yourself; you felt more beautiful than you ever had before. The makeup was heavy, but somehow looked natural, like your face was meant to house such a statement. When you looked to her with a gleam in your eye, you didn’t even have to tell her how good she did. It was written all over your expression. She got you into your outfit next, saving your hair for last. She helped you into the unfamiliar clothes, fixing a shirt on you that would certainly catch attention. It was a metallic gold tank top with only one strap. It was asymmetrical, coming down further on the opposite side of the strap and sitting above your hip on the other. She used a few safety pins to hold the fabric to your bra, ensuring it wouldn’t slip out of place. You out on a pair of black pants that were tight, hugging every inch of your skin and complementing the right spots.
“Heels or no?”
“Yeah, I’m good with heels.” You agreed. You wore them often enough to be comfortable in them all night without worry. She found a pair of black leather boots with a thicker heel to make you as comfortable as possible. You changed from your regular shoes into the new pair before checking yourself in the mirror.
You were baffled at your reflection; you had no idea you could look so enchanting with such little work. It seemed like she completely transformed you into the most stunning version of yourself. “Alright, hair and then we’re done.” She smiled. You took a seat back in the chair and watched as she searched for the tools she needed. She took little time running a curling iron through the locks of your hair with ease. She clipped them as she curled, wanting them to keep their shape while she worked. Once she finished, she brushed through the ringlets with her fingers, breaking them up as they formed into one solid wave. She doused it with hairspray to hold it there, and then spritzed some glitter into the strands so it would glisten under the stage light. “What do you think?”
“I… I don’t even know what to say.” You gave a small laugh, inspecting your reflection intently. “I don’t even recognize myself. It’s… ethereal.”
“It’s all you, Gold Dust Woman. You just look the part, now.” She grinned, making a move to pack up her things. You knew that she had called you that because of the name of your band, but you couldn’t help but feel a tingle down your spine at the term. Jake had done fantastically at sedimenting himself into your thoughts, making himself inescapable even when the situation had nothing to do with him. “I have to get started with Dylan, but if you need me I’ll just be in her room.”
“Yeah, okay.” You nodded, still breathless at the glamorous nature of your presentation. “Thank you.” She filtered out of the room, bags rustling as she struggled to keep them all in her arms. After a few more moment of admiration for her work, you decided to explore the place a bit more.
You stepped into the hallway, peering around for a familiar face. You heard the sound of music lingering through the air, figuring the boys were still amidst their own sound check. Instead of waiting around, you walked towards the door that led to the main building in hopes of locating a bar. You snuck into the next hallway, looking around curiously at the unfamiliar territory. It was silent, seemingly no bodies present in the area, but you continued on your search anyway. You broke into a main entrance, sunlight beaming through the panel windows. Chatter sounded from a distance, and you noticed a sign on the wall displaying directions. You let out a noise of triumph, following the arrow that was pointing to a bar.
When you presented yourself in front of the counter, there were a few people bustling behind it and making small talk amongst themselves. When they noticed your presence, a younger man walked to greet you. “Was hoping there was a bar here. Otherwise I would have looked quite ridiculous walking around for nothing.” You grinned.
“Where there’s music there’s alcohol, right?” He chuckled.
“Right.” You agreed. “Double rum and coke, please.” You pulled a twenty from the back of your phone case, ready to pay him, but he seemed immersed in the details of your face.
“You’re part of the opening act, right?”
“Yeah, that’s my band.” You smiled, nodding your head towards the tour posters splayed across the walls.
“So, was that you I heard singing earlier?” He raised an eyebrow. You scanned his expression, noticing his eyes were laced with flirtatious undertones. He wasn’t bad looking; in fact, he was quite handsome, but you were in no position to entertain a third pursuer. Not that he could ever compare to the two boys you had already fallen for, anyway.
“It was.” You nodded, keeping the smile on your lips. Entertaining was different than enjoying, after all, and you could definitely enjoy it without intent for more. “Did I sound good?”
“Don’t know why you’re not headlining.” He responded, his voice dropping slightly as he poured the liquor into your cup. “Pretty face, pretty voice. You’ve got it all.” Under all of the makeup, you felt your cheeks heat with a blush. He sat your drink on the counter and you tried to pass him the money to pay. “This one’s on me,” he said, refusing to accept the bill. “As long as you come back and say hi before the night ends.”
“I guess I’ll have to.” You grinned, taking a sip from the straw. “Thank you.” He grabbed a pen and quickly jotted something down on a napkin. He slid it your way before speaking again.
“If you’re around town after the show and looking for some sights to see, give me a call. I make a great tour guide.”
“I’ll certainly keep that in mind.” You grinned before uttering a small goodbye. You followed the same path back to the backstage entrance. As you made your way back to your room, your stomach sank with disappointment in yourself for flirting back with the bartender, even knowing how in love you were with Jake and Sam both. Even so, you couldn’t help but notice the carefree nature you had during the interaction; it was nice flirting with someone other than the two boys. It was easy, no crushing guilt nor worry for repercussions about your actions. You’d spent so long tangled within the Kiszka web that you forgot how simple love could be, and the realization was horrible to feel.
Amidst loving both of them so deeply, you had forgotten the ease and carelessness that came before them. You adored them, and knew that what you felt for them was true, but the pain from loving them was hard to handle sometimes. It wasn’t hard enough to want to stop, but it was definitely painful enough to make you wish for something easier by times.
You rounded the corner into your dressing room, stopping with a shock when you noticed the body present on your couch. He looked up from his phone with a smile on his lips as he prepared to greet you. Once his eyes landed on you, he couldn’t seem to find the words he wanted to say. At the sight of him, your previous thoughts dissipated instantly, only leaving a residual sense of guilt behind. The phone number in your pocket was meaningless; no matter how difficult loving them could be, nobody else could ever make you feel the same way that the brothers could. “Hi, Sammy.” You breathed, suddenly nervous just from his presence. Even in his street clothes, completely relaxed and careless, he was stunning.
“Hello, Gorgeous.” He greeted you in the same awestruck tone, a smile tugging at his lips. “Or Gold Dust Woman, rather.” He corrected. You forced a smile onto your lips, worried that his words were hidden with hurt from Jake’s term of endearment, but he didn’t seem to be upset at all. Perhaps he was just referring to the band name. You had gotten yourself in quite a bind by naming the band after Jake’s favourite nickname for you, but it felt so right at the time that you couldn’t seem to refute the idea.
“Like the new look?” You asked, moving towards him. He stood, ready to greet you as you approached. Once you were within reach, you placed your drink down on the table and he snaked his hand to your waist, pulling you into him.
“Love it, actually.” He brought his other hand to your cheek, fingers gently brushing against your skin as they moved under the hair framing your face. Your eyes fluttered closed at the touch, an involuntary reaction prompted by the blissful feeling of his skin on your own. “I think I’d like it more if we took the clothes off.” He added, the hand on your hip tightening more as he spoke. You felt a flutter in your stomach, unable to fight the rush of emotion that arose from his statement.
“Behave yourself, Sam.” You scolded, but a smile was growing on your lips.
“Where’s the fun in that?” He was smiling, too. His face was just hovering over your own, his lips dangerously close to yours. Too close to resist. “I’m sure your stylist wouldn’t mind fixing you up again. If we locked the door, nobody would ever know.”
“Don’t want to ruin her hard work.”
“Can I at least get a rain check for the hotel?” You could practically feel his lips on yours, his close proximity being the only thing you could think of.
“You know my room number.” You said, leaning forward and bridging the gap between you. He responded enthusiastically, happy that you made the move. Although you denied him sex, you weren’t willing to deny him everything all at once. You parted your lips slightly, deepening the kiss. The longer you kissed him, the more you were willing to agree to his suggestion of locking the door. When you parted from him, you were both breathless with stars dancing in your eyes. “Is that my good luck for tonight?”
“You don’t need any luck,” he brushed your comment off. “Not with that much talent.”
“So it was just an invitation for later.” You laughed.
“Yeah, exactly.” He agreed, pulling you in for another kiss. It was short, but sweet and filled with love. You both had become experts at saying I love you without uttering a word. “They opened the doors not too long ago, so you guys will be up soon.”
“Okay,” you heard his words, but didn’t really register the meaning. You were too immersed in his company to care about what was to come next.
“I don’t want to distract you for too long.” He mumbled, letting his thumb drift over the exposed skin on your neck. “Just wanted to tell you that you’re going to do great. The kiss was just a bonus.”
“I think another one would be even better.” You crooned. He let out a low chuckle, agreeing with you but not willing to give in. “Just for a little extra luck.”
“Well, if that’s the case…” he trailed off, leaning down and pulling you into one last kiss. You held him to you, enjoying the moment too much to let it slip away so soon. You let out a hum of pleasure against him, letting him know just how much you appreciated his company.
You were so lost in him that when a sharp knock on the door sounded, you nearly jumped out of your skin in fear. You jumped away from him, much like a kid who was showing guilt for doing something mischievous. Although your entanglement was known to many, you still felt that pestering need to hide it. You turned, nearly vibrating with anxiety, to see who was at the door. When your eyes landed upon the intruder, your stomach sank. Jake was standing in the doorway, face stoney and eyes glossed over with a type of pain that was impossible to conceal. You had forgotten about his promise to visit you before the concert. You had forgotten about your own rule of keeping your relationships with them separate. You had welcomed Sam and disregarded Jake once again, and this time it seemed like it had devastated him even more so than the last.
Sam could sense the tension, also appearing sheepish for being caught. It served little comfort to know that neither seemed like they were in a rush to leave. “Wardrobe, Sam. They’ve been looking for you for ten minutes.” His tone was strong, his sentences short. His chest was aching at the thought of Sam loving you in the same way he did. Knowing it was one thing, and seeing it was another, even more horrible thing.
“Sorry,” he cleared his throat. He omitted any type of goodbye, but did brush hands with you on his way by as a silent show of apology. Jake barely moved out of the way to let him by, causing Sam to bump Jake’s shoulder with his own. When he disappeared around the corner, you were at a loss for words to express your remorse.
“Came by to make sure you were doing okay. Guess he beat me to it.” He gave a tight lipped smile, showing no emotion as he spoke, but you knew how much it was bothering him. “You seem to be doing more than alright.”
“Jake, I’m sorry.” You pleaded, desperate to make up for the mishap somehow. You took a step towards him, but he took a step back. He didn’t want it, and you didn’t want to push him. As he scuttled away from you, his eyes landed on something on the floor. He leaned down and picked it up, eyes dusting over the words written on the paper. The napkin with the bartenders phone number had slipped from your pocket, but the innocent interaction seemed to come back just to bury you within the grave.
“You really have been busy tonight.” He hummed, looking back to you and extending his arm for you to grab the napkin. “Better give the ‘handsome bartender’ a call, just to make sure he doesn’t feel left out, too.” He didn’t intend to sound so rude, but he didn’t know how else to respond to the situation. You snatched the napkin, frantically reading over the message the nameless boy wrote.
“This?” You said, crumpling it and throwing it in the garbage. “Is nothing. If I can swear to anything, it’s that.” You came off stronger than intended, your desperation evident and very unflattering. “I’m not calling him, Jake. I call you, I want to see you, I like spending time with you. I like you.” You hoped that your profession would serve a purpose, but it only seemed to drive him further away. Perhaps if you were able to speak the true sentiments that you had for him, it would have made the difference.
“And Sam, y/n. Can’t forget about him.” He reminded, raising an eyebrow at you. You couldn’t find the words to answer, so instead you said nothing. You had never seen Jake look at you with such contempt, and it was killing you. Any thoughts of the simple nature with the bartender were futile. You were certain you would never care this much about another person. You had never before cared enough to want to stop someone from walking away. You were a lot of things, but never one to beg someone to stay. “And it was enough to get you to take his number, though. Two not enough for you anymore?”
“Oh, fuck you, Jake.” You snapped, feeling a bubble of anger rise within you. “You started this and now you want to chastise me for being stuck in the middle? You don’t get to be mad, Jacob. We’ve been over this.” Your defensive response was not what was needed to diffuse the situation, and you could tell that it did nothing but worsen the tension. Jake gave a slow nod of his head, wondering if you were going to say anything else. When you stood, staring with fire dancing in your eyes, he spoke again.
“You’re gonna do great tonight, y/n.” He said as monotone as he could. He thought if he had the ability to properly express himself, he might be able to put the suffering to an end. The first time was child’s play, a superficial scrape in comparison to the stab that came with this one. Before, it was easy to digest the knowledge of you loving Sam. Now, it was excruciating. Everything was easier to overcome when love wasn’t a question, but once the dreaded feeling settled in and seemed to want to stay, the pain seemed to hurt just a little bit worse each time.
“Wait, I’m sorry. Jake, please.” You took another step towards him, hoping he would stay long enough for you to talk to him.
“You look beautiful.” He added, turning away from you. “You really fit the part, Gold Dust Woman.” He muttered to himself, shaking his head as he walked away. You stepped into the hallway to follow, but instead, you watched him walk away. You knew there was no way to stop his hurt; that ache in his chest was all too familiar, and the only thing that would put an end to it was a decision that you weren’t ready to make. As much as you wanted to take his pain away, you needed to understand that sometimes it was impossible, especially in that moment, because you were the one causing it. It was horrible knowing that you wanted to give him the world, but you were the sole reason he couldn’t have it.
You didn’t have time to dwell because your bandmates had crowded behind you, jittering with excitement and eager to see your outfit. In hopes to tend to your own wounds, you retired to your dressing room with the other two in tow. You drank away your sorrow as your friends expressed their feelings about performing, and after a while, you managed to find the strength to speak, too. When the time to perform drew near, the staff came to explain how it would work and give you instructions and cues to remember. You were so nervous by the time you were supposed to get on stage that your interaction with Jake had floated to the back of your mind. Your stylist came to touch up makeup, and the three of you were sent to side-stage.
You had your eyes closed intermittently as you walked to the curtain, blocking out the world and repeating encouragements in your head to overshadow any doubt. As you opened your eyes and exhaled the breath you were holding, you took a look around your surroundings. When you turned your head back towards the hallway, you felt like you had been punched in the stomach. Jake was placed perfectly against the wall in plain sight. He had a smile on his lips and his arm slung around the waist of an unfamiliar woman. In an instant, you were brought back to your own garage, drunk off cheap vodka and grief over your non-existent relationship with Sam Kiszka. It only took one smile with hidden implications to send you into a downward spiral of despair. One touch that was bordering the line of innocence shattered your confidence, leaving you choking down the suffocating feeling of not being good enough. His fingers lingering on her waist were grounds to drive you to insanity. You felt like you were going to be sick.
As if he knew you were watching, like he knew you were there and hurting over his careless behaviour, he looked up and caught your eyes. He let his stare captivate you for a moment too long before a smile graced his lips, proving that his motive was solely to piss you off. He was intentional about his actions, and covering his own hurt in the only way he knew how: shutting down and pushing you away. It was soul-crushing, the way he protected himself, because it was the exact same thing that you had learned to do. He didn’t break your stare until the woman let out a giggle and wiggled further into his arms.
“You look like you’re going to throw up.” Dylan said, worry evident in her tone.
“I’m good.” You assured her, swallowing down your momentary distaste for Jake. If he wanted to play with fire, he was asking to get burned. “Let’s put on a hell of a fucking show.” You said, staring straight faced at the instruments that awaited your hands.
“You guys are on.” Aaron ordered, cutting your conversation short. You shared a look between your bandmates, feigning confidence as you emerged onto the stage. You pushed the thought of Jake as far down as you could, ignoring the searing sensation left in its place. Your entire body felt like it was on fire, ignited with rage over his childish tactics.
The spotlight beamed down on you, nearly blinding you as it illuminated your face. You picked up the Gold Top, taking your place by the microphone as your friends situated themselves with their own instruments. “Hello, Atlanta!” Riley boomed into the microphone. He was met with cheers from the crowd. Thousands of people were staring up at you, curious about who you were and what you had to offer. “It’s great to be here. We’re new at this, so please be patient with us while you wait for the main event.” Laughter filled the air, easing your erratic heartbeat.
“If you don’t know who we are, I really hope you will after tonight.” You smiled into the mic, eyes drifting over nameless faces. Another wave of applause filled the stadium.
“There’s no better way to introduce ourselves than by honouring the woman who started it all: Stevie Nicks.” Riley said, looking to you. “Take it away, Gold Dust Woman.” You smiled at his introduction, immediately looking down at your hands and plucking the first notes to the infamous song.
Muscle memory guided you through the cover of the song you held so dearly to your heart, but the lyrics served no comfort as you sang. You took the stage by storm, breaking out of your shell and singing the anthem of the band, the anthem perfect for a woman who was as despicable as you, but there was still some habits that you couldn’t seem to break. Every face in the crowd seemed to morph into Jake’s, and your lungs burned with anguish at the sight. No matter how hard you tried to forget him, he seemed to want to invade every possible aspect of your life until there was nothing left to overtake. You loved him dearly, but it was at a cost too high to afford; you were losing your sanity, and he was just happy that it was at his own hands rather than his brothers. Your twisted game only seemed to become more sick as time passed.
But, the blame was not on Jake alone. You would not have taken the name Gold Dust Woman had it not fit the narrative. You would not be a Gold Dust Woman if not for your deepest desires being the exact things that would inevitably destroy you in the end.

All For Me
Tumblr media
Pairing: Danny Wagner x (F) Reader
Word Count: ~3900
Warnings: SMUT [fingering; oral sex; hand job; grinding; non-penetrative sex; tiny bit of power-play; smidge of dirty talking) 18+ ONLY
I received a request a while back on Wattpad for a super jealous, rougher than usual Danny. Well, I find it pretty difficult to write this sweet one in such a bad mood, so to speak, so you might have to level with me here. But he IS angry and he DOES want to get that out of his system ;)
Thank you to @ascendingtostardust for the gif (fantastic name, by the way)!
---
You could feel how much of a horrible, stupid mistake it was even in the moment but everything was moving so quickly, it was too hard to stop. You kissed Jake. In front of Danny. It wasn’t totally obscene–just a quick one, a juvenile, giddy peck, but still on the lips, and not just in front of Danny but in front of everyone. Your face immediately flushed when you pulled back in stark realization and Jake was frozen, eyes wide with shock, and the entire atmosphere around you shifted into something sluggish and heavy. It felt like it took ages just to turn and meet Danny’s eyes instead and, instead of their usual light and brightness, there was a raging, dark storm brewing. You’d never seen him so pissed off, and you were too high and a little too drunk to even react as Danny pulled you away from everyone and to his car, tearing both of you away like it was a crime scene.
“Jesus, Y/N,” Danny said once you were on the road. He’d held off on speaking at all until that point and the words came out tired. Despite the high still swirling in your head, you could tell he was going fast, the overwhelming darkness of the highway coming on suddenly as the tires spun wildly below you. “What the hell was that about?”
His words carried a shocking calm to them, contrasting to how hard he was gripping the wheel and how abruptly the car accelerated. Danny never yelled–you weren’t even sure he was capable of it–but the intentional articulation of each syllable unsettled you. Beyond that, your own actions unsettled you–being unfaithful in any way wasn’t something either you or Danny took lightly and you weren’t even sure where all of this had come from. You didn’t have feelings for Jake or anyone else–you could only blame it on the weed, alcohol and extra-close proximity to him. Everything felt exciting, or it had before all this shit went down, and that excitement had propelled you to the nearest target. Just briefly, but it was enough to rattle you and certainly make Danny upset.
“I–I’m sorry,” you said. You weren’t even sure where to look–the head and taillights of the other cars on the highway were whizzing so fast they were making you dizzy, but you hated Danny looking as he did, with his face full of obvious tension even in the dark. “I didn’t mean to, really, Danny–”
Danny interrupting you was another sure sign he was beyond mad. “Not for nothing, Y/N, but you were getting really close to Jake all night. Is there something you’re not telling me?”
That question nearly snapped you into total sobriety. “No, Danny–Jake would never do that to you. I’d never do that to you.”
Danny’s jaw tightened before he spoke again: “You already did.”
That stung, but he wasn’t wrong. “It didn’t mean anything. I didn’t even realize I was–”
“You know, this might be the first time you kissed someone else,” Danny started to say, his voice still even as he merged out of the left lane. “But this isn’t the first time you’ve–gotten like that. I always want you to have a good time but, man–” He stopped; you turned to look at him again.
“But what?” you asked, trying to flip back through snapshots of the night as best you could, going even further back into all sorts of inebriated nights as Danny slowed the car along the exit.
There was a sad bitterness when Danny told you: “You get trashed and you flirt. Like, with everyone. Everyone but me, which is pretty ironic.” At the stoplight, the red glow illuminated the hardness of his face, everything sharp angles. “It doesn’t make me feel very good.”
You bit your lip hard, not sure what to say because he wasn’t wrong yet again. You’d always been a flirt when you got a few drinks in you–that was how you’d had the confidence to make a move on Danny in the first place and thankfully, blissfully, that drunken night had led to something remarkable. You loved Danny and you didn’t really want anyone else, ever. So you told him that as the light turned green and he turned, rolling the window down so you could have some cool, fresh air over your burning face.
“How would you feel if I did that?” Danny asked, his voice raising ever so slightly. “I mean, I’ve been pretty good at kinda ignoring when you get all handsy with other people. It doesn’t matter. But Jake? That crossed a line.”
You knew it did. Your face continued to heat with shame thinking about how this could twist your friendship with Jake–with all of them–around in addition to perhaps ruining your relationship. “Don’t be mad at him.”
Danny shook his head. “I’m not.”
Dense silence lasted for the rest of the ride. You rubbed your sleeve over your mouth as if that would erase what happened; you needed water, needed a long shower. When Danny pulled into the parking lot in front of your building, you expected him to just let you go up alone but he followed you out of the car. He walked at your side, matching your pace–every buzz from the weed and alcohol felt obliterated, leaving you awkwardly sober and all-too aware of how much you’d damned yourself.
Your keys felt heavy in your hand as you unlocked the front door and made your way to your own door, the jingling too loud as the key turned and you went in first. You left Danny behind you as you kicked off your shoes and booked it to the kitchen, getting a big glass of water from the tap.
Danny still followed, leaning back on the countertop beside you, arms crossed, and sighed. “It had to be Jake of all people? Come on.”
You finished the water and set the glass down hard. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, I probably fucked up that friendship forever.” You hadn’t realized how much of this sort of thing happened when you went out; Danny had every right to be mad and a sharp, splintering fear pierced through you. “Are we breaking up?”
Danny’s face turned genuinely incredulous. “What? No. Do you want to?”
“No, oh my god, no.” You brought your fingers up to your temples, trying to soothe the headache that had started to grow. “I’m sorry. This is so messed up. I wish I could take it back–all of it.”
Danny gave a little huff. “Yeah, same here.”
You looked right at him then. Quite a bit had changed in both of your lives since the first time you’d met, but the calming, gentle and genuine soul that was the very essence of Danny was still there. You knew that’d always be there, but even tolerance and forgiveness had limits. “I wouldn’t have even managed to, I don’t know, get with you without being drunk that night,” you told him. “It wasn’t random, not like all this has been–with other people, I mean. I didn’t know if you were into me at all but I thought, well, why not?”
Danny turned and lifted one hand to your cheek, stroking your skin gently. “And that worked out pretty damn well. It just hurts to see you get all flirty with other people when we go out or go to parties or whatever. It feels like, in those moments, I don’t even exist to you.”
You reached for his other hand, holding it in your own. “You always exist to me. I’m really sorry. That’s such a shitty thing to do to someone–to you.”
“It’s okay,” Danny said and even though it wasn’t, the way he said those words did make it feel like things would turn out alright. “I want you to have fun. Maybe just not that type of fun.” His hand left your cheek and slid down your side, curving gently around your hip. “Not without me, anyway.”
Just that simple touch began to pull you into his depths. You wanted to soothe him somehow. “How mad were you earlier?” you asked, pressing your whole body against him and brushing your lips against his. “Like, really? How mad?”
Danny just barely reciprocated, but then he tilted his head back and put a firm hold on your hips as if to push you away. “Pretty mad, Y/N.”
Without him actually pushing you back or pulling back more himself, you ran your hand up his thigh to the waistband of his jeans, toying with the leather belt he had taught around his hips. “I never see you get mad,” you said, daring to press a soft kiss to his jaw. “There’s gotta be so much pent-up anger in there somewhere. Unless drumming helps–” Your words were cut off by your own surprised yelp as Danny smacked your ass.
“Sometimes it does,” he agreed, then one finger was hooked through your belt loop and he was dragging you to your bedroom with very little effort. It seemed to take even less effort for him to toss you back onto the bed and climb over you, two strong thighs straddling your hips as Danny’s hair hung over your face. You barely had a second to see if there was actually any anger showing in his face before he sealed his mouth to yours, wasting no time in licking past your lips in a messy, heated sequence of kisses.
Strong, skilled fingers quickly undid your jeans and slid over your underwear; you hummed in surprise, melting into Danny’s kisses. This was all you ever really wanted–him. No one else. You managed to unbutton his shirt and feel his chest, his skin overheated, and run your fingers through the faint sprinkling of dark hair there. Danny’s own fingers began to stroke you over your underwear so lightly in comparison to the harshness of the messy makeout session that was still happening above; the gentle whispers over the thin fabric were still enough to make your hips buck.
Danny tugged a small handful of hair at the crown of your head and pulled you back. “Do you ever think about anyone else?” he questioned, his dark lashes fluttering once as he looked down at you, waiting.
You couldn’t even feel the mattress beneath you or the sheets around you. It was all Danny. The darkness of your room–neither of you had managed to get a light turned on–cloaked his usual darkness, leaving him almost as only a silhouette. The help of moonlight through the windows cast light on his face in certain angles and you looked into his eyes as best you could as you answered: “No. Never. Seriously.”
Danny sat back on your hips completely, sparing none of his weight from settling down on you. The problem wasn’t that he was too heavy, the problem was that his ass was right against your crotch and his thighs were flexing around you and you couldn’t do a thing about it. “So when you’re flirting with other people,” he started to say, tracing his fingertips down your scalp to the side of your face, then to your neck. “You’re not thinking about them? You’re still thinking about me?”
You were such an idiot sometimes. How many lines had you crossed without a care in the world for anyone else? “Okay,” you said quietly, tentatively putting your hands on Danny’s thighs. They were so hard, the denim strained over muscle, surely even harder from the tension brewing in his body. “I’m not thinking about you.” You pet your hands over his quads. “But only in those stupid moments.”
“Right.” Danny grabbed your wrists and pinned one on each side, bending over you again. He was close enough to steal a kiss from, but you didn’t dare–this was interesting. A little unnerving. But still hot, the jealousy and anger that had built up inside your boyfriend slowly trickling out in a sequence that you’d never even fantasized about before, because you had been too dense to realize what you’d even been doing.
“I wanna touch you,” you told him, attempting to break your wrists free as you also tried to rub your pelvis up against him.
“Oh, now you do?” Danny chided, not relenting his hold over you. “What changed all of the sudden?”
You successfully yanked one wrist free and immediately went for the fly of Danny’s jeans, cupping him hard, and he himself was already hard, too. “I always do,” you said, and he grunted softly and his whole body relaxed for a brief moment, but then he reached behind himself.
“Yeah?” Danny went fast again, shoving his hand down your own jeans, working his fingers past the hem of your underwear. You cursed and he just kept going, leaning back as he ignored your hand on his crotch, sliding his fingers inside you slow and deep. You just grabbed him harder in response, squeezing his cock until you worked another grunt out of him and his hips twitched on top of you.
“Oh fuck,” you gasped when Danny curled his fingers and tugged lightly, then slid them even deeper than you thought he could get. Your brain couldn’t process what exactly your body was feeling, but you knew it felt damn good, and Danny looked damn fine above you. His hair was running down his slightly heaving chest, the tan skin catching a sliver of silver light and shining bright for a moment until he shifted.
“So you never think about anyone else doing this?” Danny taunted with words and another curl of his fingers, just barely pulling out to add a third. You felt too confined by your clothes and you pulled your hands away from him entirely, trying to yank your jeans down which jostled Danny on top of you in the process. He caught himself, resting on his knees at your side, and raised his eyebrows: “Desperate?”
You succeeded in getting your jeans off but before you could finish ridding yourself of your underwear, Danny hauled you up onto your knees in front of him. Before he could make another move, you went straight for his belt and broke it free, sending the leather flying away from his hips; next came the button and zipper, easy enough to undo with your eager hands. With his tented boxers breaking free, you grabbed his shoulders and pushed him down onto his back to switch positions, you taking your turn to crawl over and straddle him.
“Hey,” you said, catching Danny’s eyes in the dark while you finished unbuttoning his shirt and slipping the panes of fabric away from his body. You smoothed your hands down his abdomen and then back up to his chest, resting one palm over his heart. “It’s just you. You never have to doubt that even if I’m being an idiot.” You latched your mouth to his neck before he could reply. You knew just what Danny liked–mutual adoration and lots of slow, languid touching and kissing. He smelled so good, dark, deep and musky, and you inhaled a sharp breath as you kissed your way down the soft skin of his throat. Danny moaned quietly and kept his hands in your hair, fingers just gently tangling in the strands and silently encouraging you onward.
With your lips, tongue and teeth creating messy but loving trails down his chest and abs, you scooched down his legs and brought one hand between them, cupping once more. Completely hard, Danny was a little intimidating even after all these times, but he was never forceful or aggressive. Not even now, after you’d pushed his buttons for the last time. He laid patiently, petting your hair and shoulders, while you navigated down and down some more to finally rest between his thighs.
Except there was one thing that he’d never done before.
Danny pulled out his own dick and held it, the surprise of the sudden shift in the dynamic forcing you to lean back and watch. But then you were made to look back up as Danny’s voice slid through your ears like silk: “So if you only think about me, I think you should show me exactly what that looks like.” There was a little wobble to the words though, like he was nervous to even request that. You were nervous too, feeling like it was your first blowjob all over again and you had more than just a mouthful to contend with.
The heat between your own legs would have to wait, you knew that. You had a lot to make up for. You felt Danny’s breathing pause with one hand over his stomach as you bent down and replaced his hand with your own, wrapping it around his cock as best you could. The tip of your tongue licked slowly over half his length and that was enough to make him squirm and whimper; you hid your glee behind your fist and his dick. Even if Danny was pissed, it apparently didn’t actually take too much to appease him. Even still, he deserved something good, something messy–you drooled over the head and smeared it with your palm, starting to jerk him off steadily.
“Fuck,” Danny bit out, his hips squirming again, threatening to arch up off the bed as you wrapped your lips around him and sank down as far as you could with one breath in your lungs. “Y/N–I’m gonna–”
You popped off but kept stroking with your hand, delighting in how fast this was all happening, at how damn easy Danny was. “Already? Jeez, Danny, you must have really been pent up for a while.”
“Yeah,” Danny managed to say as he exhaled, letting his head fall back against your pillow. You kept jerking him off, pausing briefly to let more saliva dribble from your mouth onto his leaking cock, curious to see just how quickly you could get him off with just your hand. You took your other hand and brought it to yourself, slipping your fingers past the waistband of your underwear. You kept your eyes on Danny’s bare abdomen and chest as you slid two fingers through your own wetness. Danny’s cock twitched against your palm; you stifled a groan while you rubbed yourself, getting both fingers slick.
“Danny,” you said quietly, stretching up along the length of his body with that hand outstretched, the slick glistening on your fingertips as you pressed them to his lips. “No one gets me wet like you do.”
Danny lifted his head and took those fingers in his mouth without hesitation. It just made the heat below burn even hotter and you struggled not to stop stroking him just to bring yourself more relief. He kept his eyes on yours, sucking your own fluid dutifully, then sat up and pulled you into his lap. It felt so messy, all of it–Danny’s shiny lips and wild dark eyes, you sitting in his half-bare lap with your wet panties as you both panted and clawed at each other. But it felt too good already, with Danny grinding up against you and squeezing your thighs in his strong hands, to even try to move around or get anymore clothes off. So good, in fact, that you knew his thick, hard, wet cock grinding into your pussy through the damp cotton was going to get you off just as quickly.
“Fuck, you are really wet,” Danny whispered against your lips. His hands moved to your ass, squeezing and pushing you down against him even harder. You managed to snag a bite against his bottom lip, then he pulled back and brought one hand to the nape of your neck, keeping you in place from above and below. “Come for me. I wanna make sure it’s all for me.”
That drew a sharp whine from your chest; you blinked back at him, Danny’s eyes catching the moonlight again, and arched your back, angling yourself a little lower so his cock was rubbing right against your clit through your underwear. The wetness from yourself had grown from the precum leaking from him and everything felt sticky and hot–strands of his hair were sticking to his collarbones with a sheen of sweat against his breastbone, and you could feel the dampness of your own skin under his fingers at the back of your neck. Denim scratched underneath your thighs while Danny’s cock slid steadily against your center and his dark lashes fanned beneath his eyes for just a second before he found your gaze again.
“Shit–I–” you stuttered, having to close your eyes while the fiery tension raged through your stomach and down into your pelvis, even your pubic bone beneath all your soft skin seeming to tighten and force its way down even more furiously over Danny. The last few words were caught in your chest while the fire burst upwards and your chest was heaving, pulse wildly racing, head a sudden burst of smoke and fog.
Danny captured you in his arms, pulling you tight against his chest. “God, yeah,” he moaned, and with soft, open-mouthed kisses along your neck, you felt the sudden halt of his hips beneath you and the release of heat and wetness against your own.
You kissed his lips softly while you both caught your breath and tried to slide away some of the hair that was clinging to his chest and shoulders, but it just got caught on the headboard instead. “God, we’re a mess,” you said with a laugh. You planted a kiss right between his eyebrows and relaxed in his lap, both of you spent out, finally. “I really am sorry, Danny. I love you and I haven’t been good at showing it sometimes. Like, yeah, I’d be pissed if it was you with other girls.”
“Well, you don’t have to worry about that,” Danny said, running his hands down your arms to your hands, clasping them gently. “The only person who really ever flirts with me when we go out is Sam.”
You laughed loudly, throwing your head back. It felt so good to have this back–the humor, the giddiness, the adoration. Every insecurity and plucked nerve could be put to bed, not so unlike the way you were going to put Danny to bed once you both got cleaned up and maybe, probably, had a late-night snack to tie the whole night together.
“I don’t know about that,” you countered, stroking his cheek. “I’ve seen girls flirt with you. I think you’re just a little oblivious sometimes. But you never flirt back with them–just with Sam. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
Danny patted your thigh. “I’m sure you have.”
You sighed. “What am I gonna tell Jake? That was so embarrassing.”
“Just tell him the truth. I believe you when you say it didn’t mean anything.” Danny chuckled softly. “You’re just like–like a moth to a flame, I guess.”
“Not a great comparison,” you said but you laughed, too. “I’ll talk to him in the morning. I just wanna talk to you tonight. Only you.”
“Same here,” Danny replied, smiling softly, the moonlight slanting over his face again. “Always.”

A random headcanon I’ve been thinking about with the boys would be how would they react to their partner constantly getting asked out while out with them? Like their gf is a real baddie and is always getting compliments. I wonder who would be jealous or who would lowkey like it
Absolutely, I adore watching jealousy in action.
I feel like Sam would know just how stunning you are, obviously. But going out, his hands are constantly attached to you, wrapped around your waist, entertained with your own hand, or his hand on your thigh. Marking you as his own by kissing you whenever he gets a chance. Never needing to say anything more than what his own body language is already screaming, blaring out to the world like a neon sign that says, "she's mine."
Sweet baby boy Josh I could see smiling through out the whole thing, watching people throw themselves at you, knowing you're the one he goes home with every night, that no one can make you feel as good as he can, that your voice breathlessly calls out his name, that he's the one you beg to stay in bed by your side every morning. I feel he would just tag on his own compliments on to you, like some guy would say something about your eyes, "you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen" "aren't they?" He'd smile at you with a look of pure adoration mixed with a little smirk of superiority, knowing this man's efforts are all but in vain.
Jake I feel is a whole other story, I feel like he would almost get off on the way others looked at you, flirting with you, trying to make you smile or buy you drinks. He'd make a show of coming up to you, in the midst of a man telling you some story to impress you and interrupt by staking his claim, "there you are baby." He'd grin knowingly, snaking his arm around your waist, pulling you in for a kiss, "I've been looking for you everywhere." He'd say, not even paying attention to the stranger in front of him until he would turn his head to them, finally acknowledging their presence. "Oh, thank you for entertaining her for me, that's very kind of you." And before the man even begins his objection, he'd pull you away, whisking you off into the opposite direction, "Let's go, baby." He'd escort you, hand tight on your hip, "You're so cute when your jealous." You'd tease, "I'm not jealous baby, I'm just proud you're my girl."
Danny, always the gentleman would never be one to hold a bad bitch back. Letting you revel in the attention, the winks from the girls at the checkout counters, the waiters who's eyes lingered a little too long and the overly flirtatious guys at the concerts, his own concert. You would wear your "I'm a Danny Girl" tee that you ironically bought, dancing your little heart out, making friends with those at the barricade and dancing with them. You'd make eye contact with Danny during the show as a guys hands were placed on your hips, swaying in time with the song. You love stirring him up, knowing you'd pay for it later. He loves to play the long game with you like this, knowing you would always be his. You'd stand with this clueless guy who insisted on coming to the stage door with you, and just as the guy is asking for your number, Sam and Danny would emerge from the side door, taking the guy by suprise to see the band members in the flesh. "Holy shit, you're-" "Her boyfriend." Danny would finish for him, pulling you close to him and kissing you, almost territorially. You'd smile into his kiss, "ready to go?" He'd smile back, completely ignoring the fan. "Yeah, baby." You'd grin as he takes your hand and leads you back inside to his dressing room, leaving Sam holding the stage door open. "I thought she-" "Did you not read the shirt?" Sam would interrupt with a laugh, closing the door in the guys face, ignoring the sound of Danny's dressing room door being bolted shut.
Oh I love jealous boys.

The USM Team when their s/o is a great cook
Tumblr media
Anonymous said: Omg how would the TT or USM crew (you can pick whichever) react to a member who is an amazing cook? Like yeah, she’s a great team member and can kick ass but her cooking? Elite? Gordon Ramsey has been found unemployed, wig snatched.
Peter Parker / Spider man
He won’t be that involved with you in the kitchen
Which if fine because he doesn’t really know what he’s doing
But he’s always going to eat it
And he’s always always going to praise the hell out of you
The first time you cooked something for him he wasn’t really expecting anything amazing
But he knew he would eat it without complaints for you
But once he took a bite?
This kid was literally licking his plate clean
Legit always asks for your cooking when you can help it
Sometimes he suggests you having cooking days with Aunt May because he wants you to bond
But you know it’s because he likes your food
Sometimes when he gets home and he had to tough day to your cooking he swears he’ll marry you
He loves your cooking but he loves that you take the time to cook for him even more
Sam Alexander / Nova
Boy gets kinda jealous
Because before everyone wanted him to cook
But once they found out that you cooked even better
They only want your cooking
So, he imposes the ban
The ban that you can only cook for your boyfriend
At which point Peter starts flirting with you just to piss him off
You cook together sometimes
But that either results in a whole cooking competition or the two of you going all out and making something amazing
He also watches you very carefully while you cook
And when you ask him the answer is always the same
“You’re just so beautiful, I want to look at you.”
But you know he’s trying to learn your tricks
Danny Rand / Iron Fist
I don’t see Danny as being much of a foodie
He definitely very aware when it comes to food
Like he only eats when he’s hungry and not just because he’s bored or stressed like the rest of us
So, I don’t see him being extremely amazed with the way you cook
But he definitely praises you for it
He appreciates the trouble you go through when you cook for him
And never asks you to cook if you don’t want to
One day you cooked him something after finding an old recipe in the attic
The second he tasted it; it was like he was back to being 9
Because it was exactly like how his mother used to make it
After that, he’s always asking you to cook for him
It’s quite adorable to see him whine for it
But you indulge him anyway
Luke Cage / Powerman
Another one who doesn’t understand the power of food
Not because he can control what he eats
Because he can’t
This would inhale his food if possible
He definitely wasn’t expecting you to be so damn good at cooking
Because he’s used to no one (except Sam) knowing what they’re doing and burning pans instead of food
So when you cooked one night, he was actually impressed before he even tasted it because the fire alarms didn’t go off
But once he tasted it
Wow
Sometimes you dabble in Amuse-bouche, which is meant to be bite-sized
He doesn’t get it
And it’s them like crackers
It’s kind of frustrating because you enjoy making gourmet food but he doesn’t enjoy eating it
So, you find a nice in between
You make gourmet junk
Any fast food that he enjoys, you make fancy, so you both enjoy it
Ava Ayala / White Tiger
The only one in the entire group that actually enjoys the fancy food
Yes, Danny is rich and doesn’t hate it but he definitely prefers down to earth things
But Ava is all for the stylish life
The first time she tasted your food, she was hooked, she loves loves loves your cooking
She actually understands the importance of plating for aesthetic purposes
And while she isn’t the type to take pictures of food, whenever you’re the one cooking, she always will so she can print it out and stick it in her journal
She encourages you to take a job at some 5-star restaurant or something of the sort
She’s also the only one who gives feedback
It’s never harsh or anything
But just something like, “It would taste better with a little more...”
Because she’s a cat of a sort, her taste and smell senses are really strong so just by tasting something she already knows what’s in it

AssClass Halloween Costumes
Tumblr media
I’m a few days late lmao...but here we go 👻🎃
Karma: Edward Scissorhands. A classic. He goes all out in his costume and it looks really good...scary but awesome yeah. Waves his scissors in front of people’s faces to be annoying.
Isogai: The Phantom of the Opera. Gets complaints later from his fangirls that the mask was covering his “beautiful face.”
Okajima: A sexy devil costume. It’s not too revealing but it’s certainly quite feminine, which throws people off guard. But he struts with confidence and 3-E supports him all the way.
Okano: Princess Mononoke. She looks like such a badass with the wolf cape and the red markings on her cheeks.
Okuda: Mickey Mouse. She looks so so cute in the little overalls and gloves, and ear headbands. Matching with Kayano.
Kataoka: Audrey Hepburn. Sis got legs for days and the tights/heels emphasizes them even more. Turns so many girls gay, let’s be real.
Kayano: Minnie Mouse. She looks adorable in the dress and cute ears headband. She’s matching with her bestie Okuda UwU.
Kanzaki: Mario!! The comical handlebar mustache looks hilarious on her, and she’s just such a cutie in the outfit.
Kimura: a Mummy, who looks legitimately terrifying with dark makeup and gold contacts. Ends up having a crisis when he needs to pee but can’t get out of the wrapping.
Kurahashi: Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The yellow dress looks gorgeous on her. Lowkey wanted to ask Karasuma to be the beast, but thankfully, she didn’t.
Nagisa: Luke Skywalker. The tunic looks really adorable on him ngl, and his lightsaber is actually so cool. Half the night, his friends keep trying to steal it and play around. Didn’t expect to coordinate with Mimura but they take a bunch of great pics together uwu.
Sugaya: Doesn’t really dress up. But he has the best and most elaborate face makeup. Dude seriously looks like a monster or demon or whatever he intended. It looks so good and professional. Other than that, he’s wearing plain sweats he just threw fake blood on.
Sugino: A werewolf umpire, of course. He’s dressed in the baseball outfit with a scary mask on. Definitely gets called a furry by multiple people.
Takebayashi: KIRITO FROM SWORD ART ONLINE FSDJHKS. He spends forever (and with some help from Hara) on his costume, having the black trenchcoat and swords and everything. His hair is messy and unlike it’s usual style, and he lowkey gets some attention for his visuals.
Chiba: Howl Pendragon. He looks so charming in the outfit. Is he blonde or does he keep his dark hair? I can’t decide. Also Kaho is Sophie.
Terasaka: Totoro. He goes as Totoro. I’m not kidding at all. He may have lost a dare to his sister, and had to wear this giant onesie of the beloved character. But as much as he’s laughed at for the night, the joke is on everyone else. He (smugly) stays warm and cozy even when it starts to get more chilly.
Nakamura: A Zombie prom queen. Bought the dress part for the costume but she made the sash herself. And her makeup is on point, it’s so scary and good. Loves making guys squirm with creepy looks, then flirting with girls.
Hazama: A ghoul. But it’s literally the most horrifying, gut-wrenching costume ever seen. Straight out of a horror movie. Super detailed, makeup is on point and terrifying. Carries weapons and scares the shit out of everyone. Makes some people even pee, and cry.
Hayami: A cheetah, in a full body costume and hat with ears. She looks so GOOD. Her sharp eyes look even more bright and feline than usual in such a dark outfit.
Hara: A ballerina!!! She looks so pretty and angelic in her pink tutu outfit, and it highkey looks so professional too. She made it herself after all haha. But yes, our Hara is a pink princess, ok?
Fuwa: Piccolo. It’s ridiculously accurate and well-made. Halfway through the night, she changes to be a One Piece character.
Maehara: Thor. Let his hair grow out a bit just for this costume. Slings the hammer around everywhere and almost accidentally kills someone with it.
Mimura: Han Solo. It’s so accurate and well made...the only thing wrong is his height lmao.
Muramatsu: the KFC guy, except he keeps advertising his ramen shop to everyone at the same time.
Yada: a bloody Alice in Wonderland, with a basket full of cookies that she carries around, and a ripped apart white rabbit plushie.
Yoshida: Danny Zuko from Grease ADJHKS. Takes out his dreadlocks for the night to have a pompadour. All his friends roast him hard and say he looks no different than he usually does lmao. Itona voice: “Are leather jackets the only things you own?”
Ritsu: Who else would she go as other than the legend Hatsune Miku. Turns her hair blue too, and sings a couple songs for everyone.
Itona: Iron Man. He looks so cute ok, this tiny little 14 year old in a bulky superhero costume that doesn’t suit his face at all.
Korosensei: Tinkerbell. One of his favorite Disney characters. Totally rocks the green dress and blonde bun. But then he starts crying and whining when his students tease him. “Tinkerbell? How fitting, Sensei! You’re both such attention seekers!”
Irina + Karasuma: They go as a sexy vampire couple, much to Karasuma’s hesitance. They look really good though. He has to hold Irina back from killing someone when the students dub her a “trampire.”
Gakushuu: A skeleton, but it’s way more elaborate than it sounds. It’s like a very detailed black tux outfit, made of 3 pieces. And every piece of it has a bone design on it, with like a blue glow so it looks he’s literally an X-ray picture. Hella cool. And he refuses makeup but reluctantly compromises with just dark eye stuff.

Libraries
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word Count: 2.6k
Pairing: Strange! Fem! Reader x Danny Rand
A/N: based on the headcanons I posted awhile ago. also it has a shifty ending but you know how it be
Warnings: gets a little heated but nothing over pg-13, I swear. On god. Also Doctor Strange tries to give them “The Talk”
“Careful with that!” Danny yelped as you nearly hit him with the books. You had been working on perfecting a new list of spells Mordo had given you, and you were having a particular hard time with this telekinesis spell.
“Sorry.” You giggled as he walked farther back behind you. Some other sorcerers were working in the library, and would glance at the two of you every time you made any noise. So it was pretty often since both of you would laugh every time you messed up a spell.
“Y/N, focus.” Danny reminded over your shoulder.
“You know, telling me to focus just distracts me from focusing.” You mumbled as you tried to regain control over the heavy books you were levitating.
“Steady your hands.” He added.
“Danny!” You turned to snap at him for distracting you, instead making you completely loose focus.
You loose control of the books, and they fly across the room. You wince as the heavy books knock a whole shelf over, and it starts a domino effect. Danny watched with his jaw dropped as the shelves all tumble over, books scattering across the floor as they fell out. It stops with one last crash against the far wall.
Every single sorcerer and sorceress turned to glare at you, annoyance evident. You feel their stares but don’t look them in the eye, since they can all be really scary and intimidating when they needed to be.
“Sorry.” You smile nervously. That only seemed to make them glare harder, if that was even possible, at you.
“I think we should leave.” Danny whispered to you.
“I think so too.” You nod, and followed him out of the room. You two rushed outside, nearly knocking Wong clean over. Seriously, what was wrong with you today?
“What are you two up to now?” Wong asked, smoothing his robes out.
“Sorry, Wong.” You grin, grabbing Danny’s hand and sprinting away.
“You are in so much trouble!” Danny laughed as you both ran, scared to be caught by Wong once he figured out you had ruined half of his library.
“Don’t remind me!” You say as you two reach a temple, where your father was talking to Wiccan, a magic user your age who would visit once in awhile.
“Ms. Strange, to what do I owe the pleasure?” Wiccan greeted you. “Hello, Iron Fist.”
“Hey Wiccan.” You greet quickly.
“Y/N, what did you do?” Your father raised a suspicious eyebrow at you.
“What? Nothing.” You say, though it was obvious you had done something from your tone of voice.
“STRANGE!” You hear Wong scream from the library, which was only a few buildings down.
“Gotta go!” You shout, taking off down the street.
“Wait for me!” Danny scrambled after you.
You looked behind you and saw Wong racing after you, which was funny enough on its own, but you also saw your father shaking his head in disappointment, which was even funnier.
You and Danny ducked behind a building once you momentarily lost sight of Wong. You both stifled your laughs as he ran by, and he turned to say something.
He stopped when he realized how close he was to you, your bodies pressed against each other in the small alleyway. You stared into his emerald green eyes, admiring the sparkle of mischief that was so rare to see in the honorable warrior.
You both realize you’ve been staring at each other and look away, clearing your throat awkwardly. You poke your head out of the alleyway, not seeing Wong anywhere.
“Uh, coast is clear.” You tell Danny.
“Can’t you just use a sling ring and take us somewhere...where Wong isn’t after our heads?” He asks.
“Oh shit you’re right.” You dug into your pocket, sliding the ring onto your finger. You point and think of his room in K’un Lun. The portal opens, just as you hear a yell behind you.
“Run!” Danny yells, jumping through the portal as Wong charges at the both of you.
“Sorry Wong!” You shout again before following, and closing the portal just before Wong can get to you.
You pant, out of breath. You make eye contact with Danny, and you both burst into laughter. You fall onto his bed as he sits down like a normal person.
“You are in so much trouble when you get back.” He chuckles as you continue to die laughing.
“It’s not like I meant to knock over half of the library.” You giggle as you sit up. “Did you see my dads face? And Wong running? It was totally worth it.”
“Okay...I guess it was pretty hysterical.” He nods after awhile. “Still, he’s going to kill you.”
“Eh. He’ll probably just make me clean it up. I could just steal the Time Stone and fix it.” You shrug.
“Doesn’t your dad never let it out of his sight?”
“Please, he takes it off when he sleeps.” You scoff. “Besides, even then it’s not that hard of work.”
“If you say so.” He smiles.
You both catch yourself in a silence again, staring into each other’s eyes.
You’ve been best friends forever, ever since you and your father first visited K’un Lun back when some inter dimensional demon was threatening your existence again. He had been kind, polite, charming, and practically making you swoon over his stunning smile. The first time you hung out was at the K’un Lun library, and he taught you some meditation techniques to strengthen your focus while you were casting spells. Eventually one of you was hardly seen without the other. Whether it was studying, eating, drinking tea, working, or training, you would always do it together.
He’s been your best friend for almost 3 years now, was it a crime to develop feelings for him? You didn’t think so. And how could you not, he was an amazing person, and it didn’t help that he was really hot. Especially now, as you both couldn’t take your eyes off the other.
“Um...Y/N?” He says, just above a whisper. “May I, uh...may I kiss you?”
Your eyes widened, stunned that he asked you that. Sure, you’ve been flirting back and forth for the past couple weeks, but you didn’t think it was because he actually liked you.
“Sorry, sorry. Forget I said anything.” He looked away. “Sorry, I didn’t-“
You grab his face and crash your lips onto his. He’s stiff at first, but quickly melts into the kiss. You tangle your fingers in his sandy blonde hair as his arms wrap around your waist, your chests pressed against the others. You’re holding onto each other as if the other would disappear if you let go. Your kisses become more heated and passionate with each one, pent up feelings for each other over the years pouring out.
When you do finally pull apart to catch your breaths, you’re still holding each other and press your foreheads together. You breathe in the familiar scent of incense and green tea, trying to savor and soak in the moment.
“You know I’ve liked you ever since we met?” He whispers after a few seconds.
“You know I have too?” You smile as you pull away slightly, just enough to fully see his face, most likely chiseled by the gods themselves.
“I apologize if it is too soon to say this but...I love you, Y/N Strange.” He smiles sheepishly, a light blush spreading across his face.
“And I love you too, Daniel Rand.” You beam, overjoyed that he did indeed feel the same way you did. You just felt stupid that it took you two dorks 3 years to finally realize it.
He leans in and kisses you again, holding you close as he lays you down so he’s on top of you. You grab his hands and intertwine your fingers as you feel his tongue swipe across your bottom lip, and you part your lips to deepen the kiss.
“Ha! I knew you-! Oh.” Someone shouts as the door slams open.
You recognize the voice and shove Danny off of you, both of you whipping around to see a very stunned Wong in the doorway.
“Hey there, Wong.” You scratch the back of your neck as Danny quickly climbs off of you and catapults himself to the other side of the room. Both of your faces and necks turn bright crimson red the longer Wong stares.
“Well, um...I guess I owe Mordo and Scarlet Witch $25.” He finally states.

“What?” You raise an eyebrow.
“We have a bet going.” He shrugs, before crossing his arms and his usual poker face returns. “So sorry to interrupt your little make out session, but I have 30 bookshelves knocked over and the books are all over the place.”
“Wong, I swear it was an accident.” You spit out. “I promise I’ll help clean it up.”
“Oh no, I wouldn’t ask you to help with something that time consuming.” He says, dripping with sarcasm. “You’re cleaning it up by yourself.”
“Yes sir.” You sigh.
“Now, I expect it to be properly organized by tomorrow afternoon. Let’s go.” He motions for you to follow him.
You groan as you get up, dreading the hours of arranging the shelves you’d have to do. You slip the sling ring into Danny’s hand as you pass and whisper, “My room tonight.”
“Wong, have you seen Y/N anywhere?” Doctor Strange walked into the now neat and tidy Kamar Taj library that you had spent hours working on about a week ago. He had been looking for you, wanting to help you practice perfecting the telekinesis spell, which obviously didn’t go well the first time.
“I believe her and Daniel are tending to the Garden of P’an-T’ao.” Wong waved off the question, deeply concentrated on trying to win a Twitter roast against this talking raccoon. And this talking raccoon was quite brutal, to Wong’s surprise.
“Is it just me or have they been hanging out way more often lately?” He asks his friend.
“They always hang out.” Wong mumbled.
“Well yes, but they’re basically joint at the hip now.” Doctor Strange paced. “There’s something going on between them, I can feel it.”
Wong stayed silent, trying to think of ways to divert the doctors attention elsewhere. He had another bet going with Mordo and Scarlet Witch, Wiccan and Magik had joined in on this one, so he wanted the grand prize of $80. Now they were betting on how long it would take the Sorcerer Supreme, one of the smartest men on earth, to figure out that his daughter was now dating the Iron Fist, and Wong had bet the longest amount of time.
“They’re just gardening.” He shrugs once more.
“I suppose. But every day?”
“They’re probably just enjoying the last few weeks of summer left.” Wong quickly adds. Thank god you had complained about having to do homework again soon, or he wouldn’t have thought of that.
“...you’re probably right.” Strange nods finally.
“Oh, curse you, rodent!” Wong throws his phone down after reading the latest, and particularly nasty Tweet the raccoon had just posted.
“What on earth are you doing?” Strange picked up the phone and his eyes widen. “Oh wow. That’s clever.”
“Load of help you are.” Wong scoffed, still offended by the insults.
“Ha! This ones even funnier!”
You were definitely not gardening. First, because gardening was one of the worst things ever. Second, because you would much rather be spending time with your boyfriend. You cringed at yourself when you felt giddy just saying that, but you were in fact now dating Danny Rand.
You weren’t necessarily hiding it, but it was quite amusing that your father hadn’t yet cracked the case. He was a smart guy, but was apparently clueless about your personal life. Human interactions weren’t always his strong suit, to be fair.
You and Danny were just peacefully reading in your room, since you still needed to do more research for Mordo’s “tutoring” (which was really just him watching you make mistakes over and over until you learned how to fix them yourself), and Danny was always reading. You two were just nerds that way. So when your father burst into the room, neither of you were thoroughly impressed. I mean, it’s only taken 2 weeks for him to figure it out.
“You two are dating?!” He screeches at the both of you.
“Really?” You say sarcastically as you turn to your boyfriend. “Danny, why didn’t you tell me? I would’ve put my book down.”
“Now is not the time for your clever little jokes, young lady.” Your father snaps, offended when Danny snickers. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Gee, maybe it was because you’d react irrationally. My mistake, I should’ve known you’d be totally cool with it.” You say dryly.
“Plus, we weren’t exactly hiding it.” Danny added.
“Shut it, blondie.”
“Dad, don’t be rude.” You cross your arms.
“Well, now that I know you’re dating, I think we need to have a little discussion.” He clears his throat awkwardly.
“Oh God...” You groan, already knowing what’s coming.
“You’re too young to have sex, but if you’re going to do it-“
“Do it safely, responsibly and consensually.” You and Danny recite, already hearing this a million times from Wong and Mordo when they found out you were dating.
“...right.” Your dad narrowed his eyes at you. “So don’t forget to-“
“Use protection.” You both say,
“...um, yes. And make sure-“
“We both consent with an enthusiastic yes.”
Your dad stares at the both of you, apparently you had already heard this speech. He was your dad, he hadn’t given it to you before. He would have to have a little chat with the other sorcerers. But he sensed that you two weren’t taking him seriously, despite how maturely you were taking it.
“I’m just saying, you know how many girls your age I’ve seen giving birth at the hospital?”
“Dad, you were a surgeon, not an obstetrician.” You blink at him. “Besides, I don’t want children, I’ve mentioned this. That’s more than enough reason for me to uh...not do it.”
“Well then. This was a lovely chat. Carry on with your...reading.” He slowly exits your room, leaving the door open. Not that it really mattered, he stepped through a portal to the Kamar Taj library, leaving you two alone in the Sanctum.
Doctor Strange turned to Wong, hand on his hip and an eyebrow raised. Wong stared at him, freezing mid-bite of his food.
“So when were you going to alert me that my daughter was dating Daniel?” He taps his foot in annoyance.
“What? You weren’t supposed to find out till November!” Wong threw down his food. “Curse Wanda.”
“What?”
“What?”
“Anyways.” Strange shook his head as he joined his friend at the table. “I gave them a little chat. I think I really got through to them. We’re on a new found level of respect.”
“Now is not the time for your clever little jokes young lady.” Danny mocks your dad, and you double over in laughter.
“Can you believe him?” You wheeze. “Oh man, that made my year.”
“So are we ever going to tell him that we’re waiting till marriage?” He asks as he follows you through the Sanctum, on your guys’ way to the library.
“Nah.” You giggle as you intertwine your fingers. “I’ll let him stress.”
“You’re an evil daughter.” He chuckled.
“Hey, that’s what he gets for sitting and watching me put every single book away when I knocked them over.” You shrug, placing a kiss on his jaw.
“You’re the one who knocked them over with your clumsy ass.” He laughs as you open the door to the library.
“I am not clumsy!” You shout, slamming the door open. Turns out you slammed the door so hard, and your father rearranged the shelf placement, because the door knocked over a case of books. Then another, and another, and another...
“No you’re right, you’re graceful and elegant.”
“Run?” You wince as the last shelf makes a loud BOOM as it collides with the marble flooring.
“Run.” He simply nods.

Doppelgänger (8/?)
Previously on Doppelgänger ~ Masterlist ~ Next time on Doppelgänger
Danny, Sam, and Tucker were just 14 when they took a look inside the portal Danny’s parents had built. From there, everything changed. They woke up with white hair, green skin, and powers they could learn to control. They were hybrids, halfas.
They were the hero Doppelgänger.
{Lucky in Love, Part 1}
A heatwave had hit Amity Park, which meant all the teens could be found in one place: Floody Waters.
“It’s way too hot,” Tucker said and winked at a guy that was passing. “Just like the people.”
“I don’t think it’s hot,” Sam said, choosing to ignore the second part.
“Are you kidding, I’m broiling,” Danny huffed, tugging at his swim binder.
Sam frowned at him, then took off her hat and put it on his head. “That better, baby?”
Danny gave her a look as he pushed the hat’s veil off his face. “I don’t know, are you sure you’re not going to catch on fire if you let the sun touch your skin.”
“Seriously, how are you not hot in this?” Tucker asked as he tugged at the edge of the black cloak she was wearing over her bathing suit.
She shrugged. “It’s just not hot. And I need to keep up the goth aesthetic.”
“Well far be it for me to mess with your aesthetic,” Danny chuckled and pulled the hat off to give back to her.
“If you’re overheating -”
“I’m fine, really.”
She gave him a look that said she didn’t completely believe him, but took the hat.
“Hey, Danny!”
Danny smiled and turned to Valerie as she walked up. “Hey, Val.”
She smiled back, then turned to Sam and Tucker with a pinched expression. “Foley. Manson.”
“Whatever,” Sam said, turning to face the front of the line they were waiting in.
Tucker followed her lead.
Danny frowned at them before focusing on Valerie. In a quiet voice, he asked, “Is your thermos working okay now?”
“Yeah, thanks for the help. I don’t know why it didn’t work before.”
“You got an older model, electricity-powered. The new ones are powered by ectoplasm. I don’t know how one of the old ones even got on the market.”
“I don’t either. I guess it’s a good thing I know you,” she said, setting her hand on his shoulder.
Sam snorted.
Danny sighed and let Sam and Tucker go ahead without him when the line moved up. “Sorry about them. They’re just protective.”
“It’s alright, I get it,” she said, squeezing his shoulder then letting it go. “Are we still on for tomorrow?”
“Of course. See you then.”
“See you.” Danny watched Valerie wander off then ran up to join his partners.
“Done flirting with disaster?” Sam asked.
“I’m not flirting, and she’s not that bad.”
“Tell that to our bruises.”
“We don’t have any bruises,” Danny huffed. “And I’m the one that usually fights her since I have the best chance at evading so I don’t see what your guys' problem is.”
“That’s exactly our problem,” Sam hissed, turning to him with yellow eyes. “She shoots at you every chance she gets and you’re still trying to cuddle up to her.”
“I’m not -”
“You are, even if you’re too clueless to see it. And she’s definitely trying to cuddle up to you!”
Danny blushed. They weren’t… Valerie was just his sparring buddy. That’s it.
Their ghost senses went off.
Sam rolled her eyes. “I’ll go deal with it. Make sure clueless doesn’t get himself killed while I’m gone,” she told Tucker, shoving Danny towards him.
She had just gotten out of sight when the screaming started. Danny and Tucker looked over to see a dark shape hovering over the running crowd.
“It’s Johnny’s shadow,” Danny said. “We should find a place to hide in case Sam needs help.”
Tucker nodded and they jumped the railing, but ended up getting separated in the crowd. Danny ran for the bathrooms, only to be pushed out as soon as he slipped inside. He flushed as he realized he’d gone into the wrong one.
“Hello, ladies’ room!” Star said.
“I’d tell you to go to the men’s room, but I don’t think you qualify.”
Danny scowled at Paulina, one of the few classmates who went to elementary school with him. “That’s a low blow, even for you,” he muttered to her as he passed.
He was almost to the men’s room when he heard an unfamiliar scream in a familiar voice. He turned to see Shadow hovering over Valerie, glaring down at the huntress.
“Oh no you don’t.” He ran for the two, grabbing the Fenton Fisher out of his Space Fold. “Hey! Tall, dark, and formless, remember me?”
Shadow turned to him and roared.
Danny tossed the line like a lasso to bind its arms. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
Growling, the ghost flew into the air.
“Danny!” Valerie yelled as he was pulled along for the ride.
Shadow shrunk down to slip free then swooped down to grab Danny out of his free fall. It brought them face to face.
“I swear, if your biker pal is flirting with my sister again…”
Shadow snarled and dove.
Danny looked down to see them heading towards the sharp points topping a wrought iron fence that bordered the edge of one of the pools. His eyes darted about until they locked onto the emergency drain for the pool.
“Come on, slick,” he said and cast the fisher’s line, catching it on the fence on the other side of the pool. “Let’s see how well you mix with water.”
Using a bit of ghost strength he pulled the line hard enough to send them into the pool. Danny swam out and climbed up to the lever. He glanced back to see Shadow melting in the pool. He pushed the lever, saying, “Enjoy your trip to the sewers! Oh, and if you see Monday’s meatloaf, say hi for me.”
Danny jumped over the railing and was immediately grabbed. “Danny, that was so amazing!”
“Thanks, Val. You okay?”
“I’m great, thanks to you,” she said, then kissed him.
Oh. Oh! Maybe Sam wasn’t completely wrong.
Danny pulled back and tried to say something, but whatever had been on his tongue was lost when he spotted Sam floating behind the huntress with glowing green hands.
The half-ghost vanished.
“That’s for saving me.”
Danny blushed and pushed Valerie so she was at arms’ length. “Val, I, uh, I’m flattered and I like you, but I don’t know if-if I like you that way, you know.”
Valerie grabbed his hands and stepped closer. “Well, there’s only one way to know. Tomorrow, you and me.”
“We, uh, already had plans for tomorrow.”
“Those were plans, this is a date.” She kissed his cheek and walked away. “I’ll meet you at your house. Four o’clock.”
“Okay?” He watched her for a moment then buried his face in his hands. Sam? Tucker?
There was no response.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“For the record, she kissed me.”
“Come on, guys, you’re being ridiculous.”
Sam spun around and grabbed the front of his shirt. “You put yourself in danger! Put our secret in danger!”
“I couldn’t just sit back and let Shadow hurt Val.”
“What if she had seen your eyes when you used your power? What then?”
Tucker set his hand on Sam’s shoulder and gave Danny a blank look. “Dude, that was really dangerous. You know our human forms are a lot less durable. You could have really been hurt.”
“I’m sorry, guys, but I didn’t have time to change and Shadow knows me. Human me. I thought I could distract him long enough for Sam to get there.”
“You did a wonderful job of it,” Sam snapped and the two turned to walk away.
Danny sighed and went to the water fountain. He pressed the handle, but nothing came out.
The pipes rattled and Danny’s ghost sense went off.
Shadow burst from the nozzle.
“Oh no.”
The ghost’s green eyes landed on him and it grabbed him, phasing him through the floor.
“Come on, I’m already in trouble for tussling with you once. Can’t you find someone else to kick your butt?”
It glared at Danny and its hands tightened. Then Danny was sinking into it.
“What the -- Let go!”
They came out in the boiler room, but Danny only caught a quick glance before his head slipped into the darkness. There was a moment of weightlessness, then light stung his eyes and he was falling.
Arms wrapped around him, knocking the breath out of him.
Danny coughed and looked up to see Sam floating in front of him. He looked up and gave Tucker a smile. “Thanks.”
They nodded and flew back up through the ceiling. Once they were back in the halls, Tucker set him down.
“Danny!”
The two growled and Sam disappeared.
Valeria ran up and pulled him into a hug. “Are you okay? I saw people running and screaming.”
“I’m okay. That shadow ghost showed up again, but Doppelgänger saved me.”
She turned to Tucker with a smile. “Thank you.”
Danny’s jaw dropped and Tucker flinched back before disappearing.
“Did… you just thank them? You hate Doppelgänger.”
She blinked, then gave him a flirty smile. “Well, if they saved you they can’t be all bad.”
“Really?” Danny asked, excited. Was Valerie really reconsidering her stance on Doppelgänger?
She hummed then kissed his cheek. “Sit with me at lunch?”
“S-sure.” It wasn’t like Sam and Tucker were talking to him anyway. Maybe he could finally get through to her.
Something moved in the corner of his eye, but when he turned there was nothing there.
Shrugging, he took Valerie’s hand and walked with her to the cafeteria.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You seem happy,” Jazz said as Danny came into the house.
He sent her a smile as he passed her perch on the couch. “I am. Val’s meeting me here at four. I’m going to go toss my backpack in my room.”
“You’re not usually this happy about your sparring sessions with Valerie,” Jazz said, suspicious.
Danny froze. What could he even tell her? Yeah, I’m thrilled because my friend is finally seeing that my ghost half isn’t an evil poltergeist out to ruin her life.
Jazz’s eyes widened. “Oh my gosh, are you going on a date?”
“What? No, of course not! Val and I are just friends!”
She smiled and turned back to her work. “Sure, little brother.”
“It’s not a date, Jazz,” he said, pushing aside the fact that Val wanted it to be a date.
“I won’t tell our parents, don’t worry.”
Danny marched up the stairs. He threw open his door, ready to spend the next ten minutes groaning into his pillow about how everyone in his life seemed to think he had a crush on Valerie, only to freeze at the sight of the ghost leaning against his desk.
“Where is she?” Johnny growled.
Danny glared at him and shut the door. “Like I told your shadow, you need to leave my sister alone.”
“I don’t care about your sister, punk. I want Kitty.”
“Who?”
“My girlfriend.”
He narrowed his eyes. “If you’re messing around with another girl’s head.”
“Calm down, punk. She’s a ghost. I only even went after your sister because Kitty got caught between here and the zone and needed a body.”
Danny opened the door. “JAZZ, GET TH-”
Johnny yanked him back and slapped a hand over his mouth.
“WHAT WAS THAT?”
The two teens shared glares then Danny shrugged the biker off. “NOTHING! NEVERMIND!”
There was a moment's pause, then Jazz gave the affirmative.
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t blast you all the way back to the zone?” Danny said, shutting the door.
“My girlfriend’s overshadowing yours.”
That was a very good reason. “Excuse me?”
Johnny pointed down at his shadow. “Shadow’s been tracking Kitty since she took off. He finally caught up to her right as she overshadowed your muscular girlfriend.”
“Valerie’s not my girlfriend!” Danny snapped.
“Sure, kid. That’s not what Shadow saw.”
Danny suddenly remembered the flicker of darkness he’d seen before lunch and rubbed a hand down his face.
Then he realized.
“Let me guess. Kitty overshadowed Val at the waterpark.”
“Yeah, right before you attacked Shadow.”
“In my defense, we didn’t exactly leave things on the best terms and I thought it -- he? -- was going to hurt Val.” So all the stuff about wanting to date him, the kiss, it was all Kitty. Which means Val wasn’t reconsidering her stance on Doppelgänger either. “And he’s the one who escalated from capture to kill.”
“Maybe if you learned to keep your nose out of other people’s business…”
“Uh, my sister. My friend. You and Kitty made it my business. Speaking of which, why is your girlfriend trying to date me?”
“Hell if I know. She just stormed off out of nowhere. Girls, you know.”
Danny stared at him. “Dude, I’ve spent enough time in a girl’s head to know that whole stereotype of girls getting angry for no reason is bs.”
“You’ve spent time in a girl’s head?” Johnny asked incredulously.
“You’re a ghost. You shouldn’t be surprised by weird psychic nonsense that happens around here.”
“You’re human.”
“My bedroom is directly above a portal to another dimension, a nerd who died in the fifties haunts my school locker, and my partners aren’t talking to me right now because my sister’s ex’s girlfriend kissed me while overshadowing my friend who they don’t like because she hates the local ghost kid that half my school has a crush on. My life is weird.”
Johnny didn’t respond.
“Yeah, so what did you do to tick off Kitty?”
Johnny huffed and leaned against the desk again. “Nothing.”
“Sure. What were you doing when she took off?”
“Driving around the next town over, keeping out of the ghost kid’s reach.”
Danny narrowed his eyes. “And how’d you get there without tipping them off that you were here?”
Johnny smirked. “Wouldn’t you like to know.”
“We’re coming back to that. So you were driving, that’s it. What were you doing while driving?”
“Just checking out the sights. Maybe had Shadow run off some guys when they tried to hit on Kitty. Snagged a ham when she phased us through a meat truck.”
“We’re coming back to the theft too,” Danny said and Johnny rolled his eyes. “Why’d she phase you through a meat truck? Is that a thing you guys do?”
“I didn’t see the truck ahead of us while we were on my bike.”
“And what distracted you?”
The older teen shrugged. “The girls in the car next to us were cute.”
Danny facepalmed. “You’re an idiot.”
“Watch it.”
“You nearly crashed your girlfriend into a truck because you wanted to ogle other girls and you can’t figure out why she’d be mad?”
“I didn’t mean nothing by it. She knows that,” Johnny snorted.
“Are you sure about that?”
“We’ve been together since before you were born.”
“You literally said you still get jealous, so why can’t she?”
Johnny scowled and crossed his arms.
“So what are you going to do to fix this?”
“Me?”
“Yes, you. It’s your girlfriend,” Danny said, then shrugged. “I mean, I can do it, but my idea of fixing it is calling up Doppelgänger to have them rip your girlfriend out of Val so we can all kick both your butts, but I didn’t think you’d like that plan.”
“And how do you expect me to fix it?”
“Apologize. Get her candy and flowers. I don’t know. She’s your girlfriend. How do you guys usually make up after a fight?”
“We make out.”
“You guys need help.” Danny opened his door.
“Where are you going?”
Danny ignored him and went to the stairs. “Hey, Jazz.”
“What?”
“My friend’s girlfriend caught him checking out other girls and now she’s ticked.”
“Good.”
“Yeah, so how would he make it up to her?”
“She can do better.”
“Come on, Jazz,” Danny said, losing the fight against his smile as he heard Johnny grumble behind him.
Jazz sighed and put down whatever she was working on to look up at him. “First, he needs to apologize. And actually mean it. A gift couldn’t hurt, but it should accentuate the apology, not pick up it’s slack. It should be something specific to her, to show that he’s thinking of her. Not flowers or candy, that’s too general. Though he can get her favorite candy or flowers to go with the main gift. Get something that connects to her interests. Preferably something she’s mentioned wanting, to show he’s been listening. Maybe there’s a book she doesn’t have that she’s been talking about or a dress she’s been eyeing. But remember, the main thing is the apology. Telling her that he knows he messed up and he’s sorry and he’ll work on being better in the future because he doesn’t want to lose her. Clear communication is important, got it?”
Danny glances back at Johnny’s pinched face. “Yeah, thanks Jazz.”
“Any time, little brother.” She started to turn away, then stopped. “Also, your friend should know, she might not forgive him. Especially if this isn’t the first time he’s done this. He needs to respect that or it will only make things worse. Apologize, then step back and give her time to make her decision.”
“Right.”
Danny returned to his room with an annoyed Johnny.
“That plan sounds stupid. She even said it might not work,” he scoffed.
“Well if you don’t like Jazz’s plan, we can go with mine.” Johnny gave a growl that sounded more like Shadow. “So what is Kitty interested in?”
“Me.”
“Considering she’s trying to hook up with a random human boy right now, I don’t think that will work.”
“I wouldn’t call you random.”
“… Oh my god, did you complain about me to your girlfriend?” Danny laughed. “Is she trying to date me specifically to make you as jealous as possible? Well, now I feel used.”

10.11. – Review and some musing
Since yesterday I'm thinking about how to start this review. I guess it'll end up being an ode to McDanno. Because let's be honest…still after such a long time, years of being in love, my love for the boys is a blazing fire. They make me sit on the edge of the couch, smiling stupidly, happy with what I witness what's happening between them. They make me sweat and grin and cry and gasp for air.
So, I start with the boys. Honestly, I've never expected season 10 to be so freaking full of McDanno moments. Gosh, I'm still a bit beside myself. For example, the scene in Steve's office. Danny…Danny. This handsome man (and the haircut! This freaking hot Mohawk, gah!!!) gets me twisted in knots because I try to find out what's he's up to. Danny doesn't normally admit to Steve his inner secrets. The way he confessed so openly why he has made up the mold story? Uh-huh. Intense. He shows feelings. Shows how much he was worried about Steve without being ironic and ranting and cutting the air to pieces with his hands. Intense. That what it was. And Steve? Steve takes Danny's confession in stride, kind of shifts on his seat and says he was touched. Steve doesn't really know what he should do with this piece of information even though he’s known it the whole time. It's kind of a load of emotions getting dumped on Steve only to grow in intensity a second later.
The bonsai comment? So not Danny-like, at least, not to the Danny I'm used to. He admits just openly that he's started that hobby for therapeutic reasons, telling there that he's not okay, that he's needed some support, some help from the shrink-corner and that's new. Did he visit a therapist? A psychologist? Does he still have sessions? Steve didn't ask any of this but the questions hang in the air. Danny, being just Danny, tells him of course, he doesn't normally inform everyone that he has a bonsai but he's just said it to Steve. So, he wants Steve to know and he even takes his miniature tree to Steve's house where he’s gong to trim this little precious tree with the special clipper doing this with a steaming cup of coffee beside him on Steve’s table only dressed in a flimsy shirt and old boxer shorts and Steve forgets how to breathe and decides to wear only sweat pants made of heavy cotton farbric. Not so easy to stretch. So, many hidden signs.
And what's with the burst pipe full of sewage? Yak, that's something traumatic when that happens, meaning Danny’s house was flooded with that stuff, ugh. At least, the bathroom and normally Danny would freak out, ranting, complaining, telling everyone how he's drawn the short straw from life. But none of this is happening. Danny smiles when he explains how the shit-smell has chased him out of his own home and he seeks refuge…at Steve's house. I'm sure he just made that story up, too and Steve knows this but still. Six to eight weeks! That's a long time and they haven't even mentioned where Danny would sleep. Maybe with Grace gone and Charlie growing older Danny feels lonesome and needs company.
But I can't get over Danny's sweet smile. The smile where he's asking Steve to let him crash at his place. It's a smile where one couldn't hide effectively enough the crush, they have one the one person that stands right in front of them. It's a sweet, tender, meaningful smile, uncommonly in Danny's repertoire to make faces. It's a gentle, genuine smile and it's connected to the stay at Steve's place. And normally Danny is the one who's annoyed and not Steve. Somehow the tables have turned and Danny tries to coax Steve into doing something Steve's not so fond of just for the fun of teasing Danny. Steve plays the annoyed one very well and all he can come up with are used towels. Ha!
Danny pushes boundaries twice in a short amount of time. He barges in Steve's door the first time without telling or calling or asking if it's okay with Steve. Now, just the same. He packs his bags and even takes his bonsai with him, stores his luggage in the office for Steve to see because Danny knows already Steve won't say no. So, what has Danny in mind? Living together for about two months? Jesus! I love this scene. It reveals Danny's softer side, an unexpected side. He wants to be with Steve that's a fact. And Steve lets him. I'm really curious about what's going on. Guys!!!! Ahhhh!
And the helicopter scene! That's another great McDanno moment. First, Danny jokes about animals although he loves animals. But he teases Steve about the gooses. And Steve comes up with the helicopter ride and doesn't even ask Danny if he's okay with it. He knows very well that Danny hates to fly with him. And oh, surprise! Danny goes! He jokes about the wild goose chase and Tani rolls her eyes at the boys! But Danny doesn’t scream and digs his heels in the ground just for the reason to show how much he doesn't want to be with Steve in a freaking helicopter, in the air!! Nope, he just went after Steve again with this mysterious smile.
As for the record, I…god…I loved seeing them paired up again, chasing bad guys, like in the old days. Time changes things, I get that but it was a great moment. And guess what. Steve is super correct and knows all the rules and is the pilot of the helicopter and yet he lets Danny use his cell although is highly prohibited and against the rules. But he lets Danny be. And Danny gives two shits about rules because they're in a no-fly zone because of gooses so no rules. And that's heavily teasing and an odd flirting with Steve. He dares him and Steve goes with it as always.
And I love that Steve still trusts Danny with all he's got. The Adam case bothers him and he leaves it to Danny to get through to his rogue team member. But Steve can't deny himself the comment if Danny can manage secrecy and Danny only lifts an eyebrow, tilting his head and quips a nice answer in return. Not offended in the slightest. That's really new and I freaking love it. Danny is much more relaxed and that rises my interest.
The guys going to live together for a longer time. That's going to be interesting and my heart whispers already poems of love…mm-hmm.
The half-season finale was just as good, as fantastic as every episode from season 10. I'm so in love. There's something thrilling about this season. It's heavy on the feels. The unexpected McDanno moments throw me. It's overwhelming. The cases are interesting and I never forget that it just a show and things might be bent a bit until they fit. Yes, they mess up timelines and don't follow up often on loose ends. I don't really dwell on those moments. I take what I get and I tend to extract the best moments for me. These 42 minutes and something always fills me with a giddy joy. I'm still enjoying every moment. It's still a wild ride and every episode leaves me with a lot to think about.
Lou is surprisingly fun. He's the one I struggle with the most. He's often over the top but so far, his scenes are filled with quip, pulling faces while discussing important leads, adding a lot of solid ohana-feelings and deep-rooted devotion to the team. This season Lou kind of grows on me. He's good people when he's not losing himself in some stupid, senseless explanation about how to dip malasadas in coffee or how to be a respected young man, or some stories about the good ol' days in Chicago.
The team has grown together. Tani fills her shoes and she walks tall. She's badass, proud, unwavering and would make Kono proud. She's full of admiration for Steve with the needed respect. But she's also the one who kind of sees the private person behind Steve the boss-man. She's caring and she's not afraid to show it. She loves Steve deeply, like a sister. She also breeches with ease Steve's professional persona. She expresses feelings and thoughts that have Steve gulp because it's so honest and straightforward and I love that.
Junior… man, this guy captured my heart. He's great. He's Earth where Steve's Air. They match as perfect Brothers. I'm always calm knowing Steve's not totally detached from his former, very important life as a SEAL. Junior watches out for him. Always, everywhere. He's grown a fantastic backbone and I'll never get tired of watching him morphing into a SEAL. He becomes a brother and a teammate for Steve. My heart still skips a few beats remembering the scene where they freed Joe White and Steve ordered him to stay behind, to not get entangled with the danger. And Junior's answer came sharply and precisely like a shot. "Today I'm a Seal and you're not my boss. We're a team and I'm coming with you." He said it with such confidence it blew me away. And it took Steve one second to recognize Junior as his brother. Junior is Steve's younger brother and he's always all in or nothing. I love his courage and the tender, shy side he always shows together with Tani. I love this boy and he's a good company for Steve. Keeps him sane.
Adam…Adam. Yeah, there's a lot going on. The way he laid down his gun and the badge was dramatic. I'm not sure yet what to think of that. I have always liked Adam. He fits into the team although he has never undergone any police training. He's born and bred Yakuza got taught from his father, a big name in that world. He should have had the courage to just tell Steve that things went wrong and he has to quit the team. That would have been the right thing to do.
The way he did hide information to safe his girlfriend was okay for me. Steve would have done the same, Lou and also Danny were already in such a situation and they just did what had to be done without informing anyone. But with Adam things went sideways and he went rogue, also emotionally and friendship-wise. After everything was settled he should have gone to Steve and get things out of the way. Steve would have understood. There, I don’t get Adam’s intentions.
Quitting the team like that? The worst imaginable way for Steve. You don't just quit the team and that's an emotional blow for Steve just because Steve cares for every single member on his team. But as I see it, Adam's world shifted when he lost Kono. Being an important member of the Yakuza makes you a slave, for a lifetime. You never can get out. So, they say. No freaking chance. Adam's history proves that. He killed his brother. He tried to be an honest businessman only to realize his past bites him in the ass. He ran away and tried to start a new life with Kono only to lose Kono to her obsession with a case that grew out of hand. Adam loves with all he's got. He has found new love with an old friend, unsurprisingly a daughter of a Yakuza boss. Adam grew up with all those people and now he's back in this energy. He knows the game. He's found a new woman and he loves again. For a man like Adam, he will do everything in his power to protect his woman. He won't lose again a woman he loves.
And his move to quit the team is about the woman he now loves. He has to stay close, by her side. Maybe he realized he only can really play one tune, only be fully immersed in one game, being on the Yakuza team. He betrays Five-O but as it seems Adam has reached a crossroad and his decision is made when he sits down at the head of a big table with other members of Tamiko's family and members of her father's clan.
Quinn…she wasn't in the episode and with some shame I have to admit I didn't even realize it. Not until someone pointed out that Quinn was missing. God, that's so horrible of me. She's a great team member but I seem to have a blind spot for her on the team. She doesn't leave an imprint. I can't tell you why. It's just…she's there and it's really good and she isn't and I don't miss her.
And the cliffhanger! Wo Fat is back. His name at least and seeing Steve's face when he spits his name revealed how much it pains him to just spell it. I think Steve might still have nightmares over what he had to undergo getting tortured, getting to hear dark, poisonous secrets his mother designed and everything came back to haunt Steve never to be really free of that massive emotional trauma. And now his nemesis is back in the form of Wo Fat's former wife. Just as cruel, brutal and cold-hearted as her husband. A killer seeking revenge with the deep wish to get to Steve.
Wow!
Season 10…ten points out of ten!

LIZ BECOMES A SCULPTRESS
October 7, 1950
Tumblr media
“Liz Becomes a Sculptress” (aka “Liz the Sculptress” aka “Liz Turns Sculptress”) is episode #100 [some sources say #99] of the radio series MY FAVORITE HUSBAND broadcast on October 7, 1950.
This was the fifth episode of the third season of MY FAVORITE HUSBAND. There were 31 new episodes, with the season ending on March 31, 1951.
Tumblr media
This program was the basis for “I Love Lucy” episode titled "Lucy Becomes a Sculptress" (ILL S2;E15), first aired on January 15, 1953.
Synopsis ~ Liz decides that she needs a hobby, and the proprietor of the local arts and crafts store convinces her she's a natural artistic genius when it comes to sculpting clay.
Tumblr media
“My Favorite Husband” was based on the novels Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, the Record of a Happy Marriage (1940) and Outside Eden (1945) by Isabel Scott Rorick, which had previously been adapted into the film Are Husbands Necessary? (1942). “My Favorite Husband” was first broadcast as a one-time special on July 5, 1948. Lucille Ball and Lee Bowman played the characters of Liz and George Cugat, and a positive response to this broadcast convinced CBS to launch “My Favorite Husband” as a series. Bowman was not available Richard Denning was cast as George. On January 7, 1949, confusion with bandleader Xavier Cugat prompted a name change to Cooper. On this same episode Jell-O became its sponsor. A total of 124 episodes of the program aired from July 23, 1948 through March 31, 1951. After about ten episodes had been written, writers Fox and Davenport departed and three new writers took over – Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh, and head writer/producer Jess Oppenheimer. In March 1949 Gale Gordon took over the existing role of George’s boss, Rudolph Atterbury, and Bea Benaderet was added as his wife, Iris. CBS brought “My Favorite Husband” to television in 1953, starring Joan Caulfield and Barry Nelson as Liz and George Cooper. The television version ran two-and-a-half seasons, from September 1953 through December 1955, running concurrently with “I Love Lucy.” It was produced live at CBS Television City for most of its run, until switching to film for a truncated third season filmed (ironically) at Desilu and recasting Liz Cooper with Vanessa Brown.
MAIN CAST
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball (Liz Cooper) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.
Richard Denning (George Cooper) was born Louis Albert Heindrich Denninger Jr., in Poughkeepsie, New York. When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Plans called for him to take over his father’s garment manufacturing business, but he developed an interest in acting. Denning enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He is best known for his  roles in various science fiction and horror films of the 1950s. Although he teamed with Lucille Ball on radio in “My Favorite Husband,” the two never acted together on screen. While “I Love Lucy” was on the air, he was seen on another CBS TV series, “Mr. & Mrs. North.” From 1968 to 1980 he played the Governor on “Hawaii 5-0″, his final role. He died in 1998 at age 84.
Bea Benadaret (Iris Atterbury / Miss Crawford) was considered the front-runner to be cast as Ethel Mertz but when “I Love Lucy” was ready to start production she was already playing a similar role on TV’s “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show” so Vivian Vance was cast instead. On “I Love Lucy” she was cast as Lucy Ricardo’s spinster neighbor, Miss Lewis, in “Lucy Plays Cupid” (ILL S1;E15) in early 1952. Later, she was a success in her own show, “Petticoat Junction” as Shady Rest Hotel proprietress Kate Bradley. She starred in the series until her death in 1968.
It is not unusual for radio performers to double up on voices, especially if they have very little to do as their principal character. Iris only has a brief phone chat with Liz before Miss Crawford’s entrance. It would not make sense to hire another actress for the role when Benadaret was under contract.
Bob LeMond (Announcer) also served as the announcer for the pilot episode of “I Love Lucy”. When the long-lost pilot was finally discovered in 1990, a few moments of the opening narration were damaged and lost, so LeMond – fifty years later – recreated the narration for the CBS special and subsequent DVD release.
Gale Gordon (Rudolph Atterbury) and Ruth Perrott (Katie the Maid) do not appear in this episode.
GUEST CAST
Tumblr media
Hans Conried (Carl, Art Store Owner) first co-starred with Lucille Ball in The Big Street (1942). He then appeared on “I Love Lucy” as used furniture man Dan Jenkins in “Redecorating” (ILL S2;E8) and later that same season as Percy Livermore in “Lucy Hires an English Tutor” (ILL S2;E13) – both in 1952. The following year he began an association with Disney by voicing Captain Hook in Peter Pan. On “The Lucy Show” he played Professor Gitterman in “Lucy’s Barbershop Quartet” (TLS S1;E19) and in “Lucy Plays Cleopatra” (TLS S2;E1). He was probably best known as Uncle Tonoose on “Make Room for Daddy” starring Danny Thomas, which was filmed on the Desilu lot. He joined Thomas on a season 6 episode of “Here’s Lucy” in 1973. He died in 1982 at age 64.
The Professor (aka Sam) and Muscles Malcolm the model are played by uncredited performers.
THE EPISODE
ANNOUNCER: “As we look in on 321 Bundy Drive, Sheridan Falls, it's late afternoon. Liz is just arriving home from her club meeting, and is met at the door by George.”
Liz has had a very educational day at the club today. They had a lecture on older people and how they can be kept happy and useful, but as Liz has no hobbies, the lecturer pointed out that she's on a slippery slope to being lonely and unhappy when she gets older. So she's going to get a hobby!
Tumblr media
On “I Love Lucy,” the motivation for Lucy Ricardo to take up art as a hobby is so that her baby will be born into a cultured household. Lucy shows Ricky a portrait of her great-grandfather (above), who she says was was a great artist. In reality, this is a photo of writer Bob Carroll Jr., who co-wrote both the radio and television scripts!
After some conversation about who will pre-decease whom (and whether they will re-marry), Liz vows to go down to the art store first thing in the morning to get a hobby.
Tumblr media
Liz enters Carl’s Arts and Crafts shop and is welcomed by Carl.
CARL: “I have all media. What do you usually like to work in?” LIZ: “Oh, just an old housedress.”
Tumblr media
On TV, Lucy is confused by the term ‘media’ and likes to work in ‘an old smock.’ On TV the art store clerk will be played by Russian-born Leon Belasco (right) who had done three movies with Lucille Ball between 1939 and 1944. William Abbott, the shop owner, is played by Shepard Menken.
Liz flirts with the idea of finger painting. After all, she already has fingers!
LIZ: “Are these the right kind of fingers?” CARL: “You can start with those. Later on I’ll sell you some better ones.”
Instead, Carl convinces Liz to try sculpting with their in store clay display. Carl suddenly is taken aback by her handling of the clay!  It becomes apparent to the listener that Carl is more salesman that art lover. He gushes over her primative squeezings.
CARL: "All the world is waiting for a squeezer like you!”
Carl calls over an art critic (whom he calls “the Professor”) who just happens to be browsing in the shop. They both fawn over her lump of clay, even falling to their knees in admiration. Liz is convinced to spend $25 on clay and leaves the shop feeling she is destined for greatness.  Once she is gone, the men drop their pretense and we learn that “The Professor” is really a clerk named Sam.
CARL: “The next aspiring artist to come in I get to be the Professor. You have all the fun!”
Tumblr media
The idea of a convincing a customer to make a purchase by staging a deceptive scenario will also be used on in “The Girls Go Into Business” (ILL S3;E2) in which dress shop owner Mrs. Hansen (Mabel Paige) tries to convince Lucy and Ethel her shop does a booming business by recruiting two ‘shoppers’ (Kay Wiley and Barbara Pepper) to buy lots of merchandise while Lucy and Ethel look on in amazement. The scam works and Lucy and Ethel buy the store.
George comes home from work to find Liz has set up an art studio in his den. To George’s surprise Liz is wearing an artist’s smock and a tam.
LIZ / LUCY: “This is the official outfit of all us sculptressessss.” GEORGE / RICKY: “All us whatressesessss?”
Liz proudly shows off her latest work to George, who teases her about not knowing exactly what it is. Finally, he says it is a bunch of grapes and Liz bursts into tears. She’s sculpted a man’s head!
Tumblr media
On TV, Ricky guesses Lucy’s first sculpture is supposed to be a boy and his dog or a girl and her dog but Lucy says it is a child at its mother’s knee.  Ethel guesses it is the nose on somebody’s face.
After Bob LeMond does a commercial for Jell-O (”You can turn out a work of art with Jell-O!”), the story resumes with Liz sobbing and George comforting her. Liz says she’d do much better if she could hire a model. George volunteers as her model but Liz quickly rejects him. George asks why.
LIZ: “Your muscles. They’re all in your coat.”
George takes off his coat and shit to prove he has what it takes to model.
LIZ: “Well! Gypsy Rose Cooper!”
Tumblr media
Liz is referring to the famous strip tease artist and burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee (born Rose Louise Hovick, 1911–1970), whose life was the inspiration for the Broadway musical and film Gypsy in 1959. Above, Gypsy Rose Lee visited the set of “I Love Lucy” during the filming of “Hollywood Anniversary” in February 1955.
Liz unfavorably compares George’s physique to the Discus Thrower, a Greek sculpture completed at the start of the Classical Period, depicting a youthful athlete throwing discus, circa 460–450 BC. Liz measures George’s ‘bicups’ (biceps) but they fall short.
Tumblr media
On “I Love Lucy,” Ricky avoids being a model, but Fred is recruited to pose as the Discus Thrower - and throws his back out in the process!
George scolds Liz for spending so much money on her ‘hobby’ - $50, which is equal to more than $500 in today’s economy. George demands she return everything to the art store and Liz bursts into tears again.
The next day, Liz telephones Iris to tell her that she has hired a model anyway.  The doorbell rings and it is ‘Muscles Malcolm’ from the modeling agency. To Liz’s surprise he wants to pose ‘au naturel’ but Liz convinces him to wear a tiger skin.
George comes home early from dinner so Liz quickly stashes Malcolm in the closet. George sees Malcolm’s street clothes.  Liz tries to convince him that they are his clothes!  Malcolm suddenly sneezes from inside the closet.
LIZ (quickly): “I didn’t hear anything. Nobody sneezed!”  GEORGE (suspicious): “I didn’t say anyone did.”
Tumblr media
In “The Saxophone” (ILL S2;E2), Ricky stashes a handsome man in the closet to turn the tables on Lucy. Writer Madelyn Pugh remembers: "For some reason, Bob [Carrol Jr.] and I liked the idea of people hiding in a closet. We used it in this show, and in a couple of other 'Lucys.’ We even used it in the pilot of 'The Mothers-in-Law’ fifteen years later – and it always got a laugh!”
The jig is up and Malcolm emerges from the closet. Surprisingly, George is not mad at all.  He leaves the house calmly, but Liz smells a rat.
George returns with a giggly girl named Miss Crawford (also Bea Benadaret). George is going to take up painting and Miss Crawford is his model.
MISS CRAWFORD: “Do you want me to pose draped or undraped?  I usually pose undraped.” LIZ: “Draped. You’ve got a bad enough cold already.”
NOTE: This line gets the biggest audience reaction of the entire episode, perhaps because of the intimation of nudity or because Bea Benadaret’s voice sounds very scratchy. Perhaps the audience knows that she is under the weather and feels in on the joke?
Tumblr media
In the live Jell-O commercial, Lucille Ball, in a seductive voice, tells Bob LeMond claims she always wanted to be...a ballet dancer!  Instead, Ball switches to her “Professor” voice; a deep, husky, and blunt tone.
LUCILLE BALL: “I ain’t gonna do the Jell-O jiggle. I had an accident. I had on my new shoes; they’re kinda sharp. I spun six times. Once for strawberry like this. Once for raspberry like this. Once for cherry, like so. And once for orange, lemon and lime, like this. Darn that Jell-O jiggle, I dun it again. I dug myself right into the ground!”
Tumblr media
ANNOUNCER: “Lucille Ball can currently be seen in Columbia’s laugh-fest ‘The Fuller Brush Girl’.  Watch for it when it comes to your city.”
A recorded commercial for Instant Sanka coffee and the Jell-O jingle ends the broadcast.
FAST FORWARD!
Tumblr media
The television version of this script ends very differently. Lucy tries to pass off her own head as an example of her art work. Ricky invites an important art critic to assess it, and he attempts to buy Lucy’s head and take it with him!  The highly visual ending, with Lucille Ball’s head stuck through a table and covered with clay, works much better than the radio conclusion.
This isn’t the last time Lucy had a brush (pun intended) with the visual arts.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy Goes To Art Class” (TLS S2;E15) in 1964, Lucy Carmichael also visited an art store and took a drawing to meet an eligible bachelor (Robert Alda).
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and Uncle Harry’s Pot” (HL S5;E21) in 1973, Lucy Carter took up pottery in order to recreate a vase she’s broken which had sentimental value to Harry.

100 Homestuck Headcanons Of Mine
Both Meulin and Nepeta say “hewwo” unironically. They can also replicate the OwO and UwU faces near perfectly.
Roxy loves Five Nights At Freddie’s, Undertale, and Minecraft.
The Striders and Lalondes have a group Minecraft server.
One time Roxy convinced Rose to play Halo with her, Dirk, and Dave. That was when they found out Rose was surprisingly good at it, and Fortnite.
The trolls all love Animal Crossing
Actually, everyone loves Animal Crossing.
The Mayor is the only one who had Raymond. That is because Dave gave him Raymond.
Everyone else wants Raymond.
Vriska stabbed someone for Raymond. She didn’t get Raymond.
The Harley-English-Egbert-Crocker family have a group Minecraft server, and that’s it.
They tend to spend their free time seeing what whacky things they can alchemize.
At one point they managed to alchemize Captain America’s shield. No one is sure how, but it works.
Roxy and Dirk can both eat whole ghost peppers. Rose and Dave both hate spicy food.
Jane doesn’t mind spicy things but prefers sweet stuff instead. John and Jake are fine with a little spice but not as much as Roxy and Dirk. Jade can’t have anything spicy or she will get extremely sick.
Spicy peppers, and peppers in general, are lethal to trolls, due to the capsicum in them. The first time Karkat and Kanaya saw Dirk and Roxy eating peppers they freaked out.
Dirk and Roxy have occasional competitions to see who can eat the most peppers in a minute. It’s hilarious.
Karkat learned the Alternia equivalent of an Earth ukulele before the game. He remembers one song from it and occasionally borrows Jake’s ukulele to play it when he’s sad.
Jake, Jade, Jane, and John have every musical instrument you could name, and some you couldn’t.
Jake can play the ukulele and bagpipes. Jane can play piano and keytar. Alongside bass, Jade can play the trumpet and otamatone. John can play guitar and saxophone.
Dirk can play the otamatone. That’s it.
Roxy keeps requesting that Jade alchemize cats. She has about 30 by now.
Roxy gave Dave a cat. He named him Skittles, and claims it’s completely ironic.
Dirk also has a cat, named Twilight Sparkle
Rose has a cat named Cthulhu.
Jake has a parrot named Indiana Jones
Jade now has a corgi named Thor.
John managed to get Jade to help him alchemize a dragon. It’s name is Fluffernutter.
Jane is a master at anything kitchen-y. Jake and John both burn water. Jade can cook stuff but prefers take out.
Roxy knows how to make grilled cheese and soup really well, and Dirk is good with a grill but that’s it.
Rose makes the best hot chocolate, tea, and coffee. Any drink you want, she can make. She can’t cook anything though.
Alternatively, Kanaya is an excellent cook but thinks that mixing Dr. Pepper, Sprite, and Faygo together is good.
Kanaya has mixed every soda the kids could find together before. Dirk paid John $30 to drink it. John did.
“If you open a banana from the bottom you are a disgrace to the world and we all know you’re a top who can’t find a bottom.”- Rose, Kanaya, Jade, Vriska
“Opening a banana from the bottom lets you have the most banana without eating the weird thing at the end of it”- Dirk, John, Jane, Karkat
“Why bother peeling bananas when you can just eat them whole?”- Jake, Dave, Terezi
One time John used the Mayor’s cuteness to get Jane to bake him a cake. Dave found out and was pissed.
Dave convinced Rose to knit the mayor a sweater.
The mayor loves Doritos. He always gets the last one in the bag.
Kanaya loves mixing different types of one kind of food or drink. She has mixed all the candy in the house, much to the delight of most everyone, has mixed all the soda (it now lives in the back of the fridge for when they play truth or dare) and has mixed all the cereal in the house, much to the irritation of Roxy and Rose.
Dave ate a handful of Kanaya’s cereal mix because Dirk said he wouldn’t.
Has read Twilight: Rose, Roxy
Hasn’t read Twilight: Jade, Jane, John
Doesn’t know what Twilight is: Mayor, Calliope, Karkat, Jake
Hates Twilight: Dave
Vocally anti-twilight but secretly wrote and published a 100k fanfic: Dirk
Can swim: Rose, Roxy, Dirk, Jake, Jade
Can’t swim: John, Calliope, Jane
Hates bodies of water: Dave
Trolls don’t have grey skin, they have grey fur.
Said fur poofs up when the trolls are scared as a defense mechanism, like a cat. But instead of being fluffy, it’s spiky and sharp. Trying to punch a fluffed up troll ends badly.
If you mix Faygo and sopor slime you get the troll equivalent of weed.
Calliope found archery and axe-throwing, and is wonderful at both.
Dave convinced Rose to knit a sweater for the Mayor.
Cereal before milk: Rose, Roxy, Jane
Milk before cereal: Jake, John, Jade
“Just eat the cereal dry, cowards”: Dave, Dirk
Dave had a popular Vine account
Karkat does not understand the term Yeet.
Instead of saying “Yeet” Rose says “defenestrate”
Roxy has a Tumblr account filled with things their group has said.
Kanaya has designed outfits based around pride flags for everyone.
Dave likes Mindless Self Indulgence and My Chemical Romance
Calliope likes Fall Out Boy
John listens to twenty one pilots a lot
Dave also likes cavetown
Kanaya loves girl in red
The beta trolls ancestors can change their size.
The Grand Highblood and the Condesce shifted to a larger size permanently to intimidate other trolls.
Some don’t use it as much, or at all, like the Dolorosa, the Signless, or Neophyte Redglare.
Dualscar uses it to ease travel or to win fights, and will grow to extreme sizes so he can get through the water faster. It’s also ten times easier to sink ships.
The Psiionic couldn’t use the power once he became the Helmsman.
Darkleer uses it to grow smaller, so he can work on the small, delicate parts of his inventions.
Carapacians grow weed as a crop. For them, it’s their main source of food. For humans, it’s weed. It’s poisonous to trolls.
Sea dwellers’ lusii die more frequently (possibly due to the eldritch being at the bottom of the ocean), so they started letting older sea dwellers adopt sea dwellers that aren’t really old enough to survive without a lusus.
How many sweeps a troll is can be equated to human years, but when compared to other blood castes it becomes very skewed. A sweep equals roughly two human years, but different blood castes view this differently. Rust bloods, bronze bloods, and gold bloods all live fairly short lives, so 7 sweeps is roughly half their life span. Lime bloods and jade bloods all view 7 sweeps as being a bit like their early twenties. Teal and cerulean bloods would consider 7 sweeps to be roughly 13 or 14. Cobalt and purple bloods would see 7 sweeps as maybe being 6 or 7. Violet and fuschia bloods live for thousands of years, so legally and when comparing life experience to other fuschia/violet bloods, 7 sweeps is basically a very young toddler. This is just how each caste views age internally, given that they have different lifespans. 7 sweeps is roughly 13 or 14 in human years. This is explained badly but it’s also an alien concept put into English.
Teal and cerulean bloods have the closest lifespan to humans.
Dealing with eldritch beings shortens your lifespan because of the toll it takes on your body. This means that if Rose never reached godtier she would have died earlier than she was supposed to. This also means that if Eridan wasn’t chainsawed in half he probably would have had the lifespan of a purple blood or blueblood.
An ahab crosshairs or whatever can be really deadly in certain situations, but outside of that it’s basically useless.
The one time Dave met Kankri, he decided to put all of Mindless Self Indulgence’s songs on shuffle and play whatever came on first to Kankri. It was ‘Stupid MF’. Kankri flipped his shit and Dave is no longer allowed near him.
Meenah turned it into a game to see who could get the loudest reaction from Kankri by playing an MSI song. So far the winners have been 1. Vriska with ‘Faggot’, 2. Cronus with ‘Bitches’, and 3. Meenah with “Fuck Machine’. Honorable mentions include ‘Get It Up’, ‘Big Poppa’, and ‘Dickface’.
The honorable mentions change constantly
The game is ridiculously easy to win, given that most MSI songs are A) about sex, B) have slurs in them, C) are just really offensive in general, or D) all of the above.
To win the game you record Kankri’s reaction to the song and upload it to a forum on pesterchum.
Kankri is unaware there is a game.
Cronus repeatedly hits on everyone he meets. There are two people who he’s stopped flirting with, though.
The first one is Vriska. The first time he flirted with her she kicked him in the balls. The next time she stabbed him. He stopped trying after that.
The other one is John. He kept comparing Cronus to people from late 20th century movies with greasers in them.
Roxy loves riot grrrl bands.
Roxy, Sollux, John, and Karkat started a coding club. Roxy and Sollux help Karkat and John get better at coding, and also challenge each other to break into more and more ridiculous places.
At one point, using the codes that let Roxy and Dirk talk to Jake and Jane, Roxy and Sollux were able to hack into different government websites in different universes.
This includes the Pentagon, the FBI, and the CIA. They figured out how to get news live from the other universes, so occasionally they invite their friends over and watch a different world panic.
They end up doing internet troll stuff once in the websites. They’ll leave things equating to “aliens from another universe were here” and shit. They’ll make it so every time the website is open the screen turns pink or red and blue.
One time they left a picture of a message in Alternian. When the feds decoded the message, it just said “2ollux and Roxy were here. 2ucker2.”
One time they replaced all the photos of people with badly photoshopped versions of the photos where all the faces had been replaced by either Nic Cage’s face or Danny Devito’s face.
When they aren’t breaking into government websites, Roxy and Sollux will set up firewalls for the other to try and get past.
Aradia and Federico bleached Eridan’s hair while he slept, and cut it short. They also put pink bows on his horns. Just because.
Because Sollux can hear voices of the imminently deceased/is basically half dead, and Aradia has a strong connection to death, they were able to manipulate this so they could communicate telepathically. It takes focus, but they can do it.
Dirk knows Japanese, and can understand Damara. He is the only one who can.
They have inside jokes about everyone they know
Vriska found 5 or 6 doomed versions of herself and brought them back to life. They live in a shared hive and use the fact that they are all various Vriskas to prank people to an extreme. The only one who know whats happening outside of them is Terezi, because A) seer, and B) the one who gave John the list of things to do was brought back as well and told her.

hawaii five-0 college au:
- danny is a pre-law student who wants to go into criminal law and when you first meet him you think he’s intimidating af but he’s actually a walnut who knows Every Single vine ever and annoyingly does all of those stupid tik tok trendy dances but he makes tea whenever he sees his friends are pulling all-nighters because he’s up every night studying anyway. and he’s infamous on campus for making insanely good weed brownies and wears over-sized sweatshirts when he studies even though people tease him for how small they make him look.
- steve mostly keeps to himself but has a close friendship with junior, who he met in a statistics class. he binge watches parks and recreation and unironically drinks seven cups of coffee a day but would eat seven burgers if he had the money. he doesn’t realize how much attention he attracts at first, but people quickly realize that he’s quiet and rather reserved, and will fluster and fumble if you try to flirt with him, and it doesn't End Well.
- steve meets danny during junior sophomore year in a boring class they’re both required to take but he doesn’t actually become friends with him until there’s a big frat party and steve loses junior for a hot minute and he’s super worried because junior is drunk and then twenty minutes later he finds junior on a couch and danny is taking care of him and giving him water and in the end, danny insists on going with steve to make sure that junior gets home okay and they strike a conversation and end up talking about everything and nothing on the steps of junior’s dorm building. danny makes fun of steve for being quiet and serious but steve secretly enjoys it, even when danny teases him for being a marine biology major.
- the two of them become friends, texting each other when they’re not together (danny sends steve vines because he is Seriously Uneducated) and steve tolerates danny being a feral idiot who is way too loud for public spaces and danny loves making steve blush and it’s rather beautiful how quickly they fall for each other but they both think the other doesn’t feel the same way, of course.
- kono, who is danny’s friend from high school, lives with chin off campus. she studies chemistry and physics (double major, because shes awesome) and chin studies criminal justice with a minor in classics and they’re danny’s best friends but they get along with steve right away.
- junior introduces tani to the group and tani and kono hit it off, and then they have this whole squad.
- late night study sessions, lunches at iHop (its the only place within walking distance of steve’s dorm and they’re all lazy around exams, Sue Them), kono and junior and steve work-out together at the school gym, the whole group forcing themselves to listen to chin’s excited rants about some gay greek shit, danny’s baking skills are used extensively particularly for cannibas-related reasons.
- in the summer danny and steve both stay on campus for summer classes and they’re now dorming together and steve is watching danny mix cookie dough and sing coldplay songs ironically and he just marches up to him and kisses him because he is so in love with this smol blond asshole who turned his college years into something that he’ll never forget.
- it turns out that literally their whole squad of friends had a bet pool on who would make the first move between danny and steve and junior and kono win because they know steve is actually a Chaotic Bastard when he wants to be.
- kono/tani and danny/steve double dates but theyre all broke college students so they go to a diner and get the lunch specials but then they get bored without the rest of the group and they text in the group chat, and the rest of the squad storms the diner and take over. every time. every date. it’s kinda sad, really.
- steve graduates a year before danny but is doing grad school and working with a professor on-campus a few times a week so he rents an apartment and danny doesn’t even officially move in, he just dumps his clothes at steve’s place and neither of them talk about it.
- chin meets malia in his required art history class and he immediately asks her on a date and they become an aesthetic couple on instagram, to no one’s surprise because they’re beautiful together. danny makes fun of them, mostly because he can’t take a selfie for shit. he runs a meme account instead. steve makes a finsta that danny doesn’t know about and follows the meme account even though danny think he’s sly about it. steve cries from laughter at the captions for each post, which is usually subjected around steve being a “dumb, hot idiot.” danny figures out it’s him a year later.
- tani and kono move in together literally before danny and steve get together because they’re gay, Brenda. they already have adopted a dog and even sent out a Christmas card together, with the dog, because once again, they’re lesbians, Harold.

Dad
“Do you think you can help me with my science fair project, dad?”
Dad.  The word echoed through Bruce’s head and nestled into his chest.  Bruce had never expected to be a dad.  It wasn’t feasible.  Not with the whole issue with the other guy.  He couldn’t risk a life where he passed that onto another person.
Then he met you.  You; who were smart and funny.  You; who were calm and kind.  You; who were stubborn and determined.  Who wouldn’t take his shit, yet somehow calmed him and kept his anxiety in check.  You; who was already a mother when he met you.  The mother of a small boy named Danny.
Things had progressed slowly between you and Bruce.  Bruce didn’t trust himself in a romantic relationship.  You didn’t trust bringing another man into Danny’s life.  It was a year of just getting to know each other as friends.  Working in the same lab.  Sharing jokes.  Getting over the crippling shyness and unwillingness to connect with another person.
It was another year of shy flirting and soft touches.  When you’d finally admitted there was something between you and moved it forward, it was years before you’d moved in together.  Now Danny was eight years old and for the past year, Bruce had thought of him as his son.  He was the child he’d never thought he’d have.  The thing he had never let himself admit to wanting.
He had worried early on that he couldn’t handle it.  That one day Danny would do something that frustrated him to the point that the other guy would come out.  He always worried about that regardless of what was happening.  To be the reason that the woman he loved and an innocent child was badly hurt or worse; he couldn’t live with that.  It turned out it was never a problem.  You were both a calming influence.  Sometimes he felt the hulk actually feeling pride or love for the new people in his life.  Now Bruce didn’t even worry that something else would draw the other guy out when you were around.  He knew in his core that the Hulk would never hurt either of you.
In the beginning, Danny had called him Doctor Banner.  He was so young when Bruce met him, that he could barely even pronounce the words properly.  No matter how many times they’d said he could use Bruce.  After a few months, he switched to using Bruce.  He’d tested it out tentatively.  Not sure how it felt or how Bruce would respond.  You could tell by the hesitant way the word was formed that it felt strange to him.  That it was too informal, and this man who was spending all this time with his mother might react badly to it.  Over time it was just natural.  It wasn’t unusual to hear him yell it through the house trying to find where he was.  Or to hear the sleepy voice say it when he was protesting going to bed.
Bruce has accepted the fact he’d never be a father.  That no matter how much he felt like one, to Danny he would just be Bruce.  He was fine with that.  To be Bruce was more than he thought he’d get.  It was enough that he felt like a father, and that he had you as his wife.
Only now it had happened.
“Do you think you can help me with my science fair project, dad?”
Dad.  Not Bruce.  It was said with such ease that for a moment Bruce worried he’d said it by accident.  That Danny had used the word the way kids will sometimes slip and call their teacher ‘mom’.  He looked to you and saw the giant smile on your face.
“Of course, Dan.  What - what were you thinking you wanted to do?”  Bruce asked.
“I wanna see what happens with plants when they only have certain minerals in the water,”  Danny says.  “Can we do that, dad?”
There it was again.  Used a little more awkwardly and with slightly more emphasis.  Definitely not a mistake.  It felt like a weight had been placed on Bruce’s chest.  His heart both hurt and feel light at once.  Bruce could feel the press from the other guy, not wanting to take over, but to push him into action.
He crouched down in front of Danny.  In front of his son.  “Uh… yeah, buddy.  That sounds pretty advanced but we can do it.  Tell you what, you uh, you go research what we need and we can go to Home Depot and buy what you want.  Or … or maybe you might like to go into the lab and see if we have it there?”
“Can we go say hello to Iron Man?”  Danny asked.
Bruce smiled.  “Yes, I’m sure we can.”
Danny’s face lit up.  “Do you think he’ll let me try on the suit?”
Bruce laughed and shook his head.  “We’ll see.”
Danny wrapped his arms around Bruce’s neck, hugging him hard.   Bruce startled and slowly closed his arms around the boy.  “I love you, dad,” Danny whispered.
“Love you too, Danny,”  Bruce whispered in return.
Danny let go and ran off to his room to start researching.  Bruce sat down on the couch next to you.  You put your arm around his back and pressed your forehead against the side of his head.
“He called me dad,”  Bruce said, touching his chest.  It still felt way too full, like his heart was trying to burst out his chest.
“I know.  How’re you feeling?”  You whispered.
He turned to look at you, a smile broke out on his face.  “I - I - I can’t believe it.”  He stuttered.  “I didn’t think…”
You cupped his jaw in your hands and kissed him.  He could feel every ounce of the love you felt for him in that kiss.  He melted into it, wrapping his arms around you.  You pulled back slowly, resting your forehead against his.  “Thank you.”  He whispered.
You shook your head.  “No, thank you.  I love you so much, B.”
He smiled and nuzzled into your neck.  “I love you too.”  He whispered.  “I - I uh should go help him.”
You returned the smile and stole one more kiss.  “Get to it my geniuses.  I expect him to get first prize.”

''So you killed her?'' Stiles questioned his best friend as both him and Scott walked into school, though Stiles casually said it as if it was a normal question to ask.
''I don't know, I just woke up'' Scott replied, shifting his backpack on his back.
''And I was sweating like crazy, like I couldn't breathe. I've never had a dream were I woke up like that before'' Scott explains to Stiles in slight worry, wondering if this dream has anything to do with the new... supernatural development.
''Really? I have. Usually ends a little differently though'' Stiles being Stiles piped up, earning a look from his best friend.
''A, I meant I never had a dream that felt that real and B, never give me that much detail about you in bed ever again'' Scott glared over to Stiles as they continued to walk down the busy hallway.
''Noted. Let me take a guess here though''
''No I know, you think it has something to do with me going out with Allison tomorrow, like I'm going to lose control and rip her throat out'' Scott cut him off, staring straight ahead.
''No, of course not'' Scott turned to face Stiles and give him a look.
''Yeah, that's totally it'' Stiles confessed, Scott's head lulling down as both of them kept walking.
''Hey come on, it's gonna be fine, alright? Personally I think you're handling this pretty freaking amazingly. You know, it's not like there's a Lycanthropy for beginners class you can take'' Stiles continues.
''Yeah not a class but... maybe a teacher'' Stiles bit his lip in anger.
''Who, Derek?!'' He shouted, catching a few on lookers attention. Stiles clipped Scott over his head.
''Are you forgetting the part where we tossed him in jail?''
''Yeah I know, but chasing her, dragging her to the back of the bus, it felt so real'' Stiles sighed.
''How real?'' He asked.
''Like it actually happened'' Scott spoke up sadly. The both of them soon walk out the other double doors and both froze in their spots at what they saw. One of the school buses was covered in blood, the back door being half ripped as forensic units and police officers surround the scene.
''I think it did''
~*~*~*~*
''Allison! Have you seen my curling iron?'' I called out from the bathroom. I glanced up and down and searched all cupboards but nothing. I huffed before turning to leave to walk into Allison's room. She wasn't there so I decided to go into her bathroom to see if she had stolen it.
''You could at least ask to use my bathroom'' I smirked to my older sister but continued to rummage through her bathroom for the iron. I smiled in triumph once I found it tucked away underneath the sink.
''Aha!'' I whipped it out and looked over to Allison with a look.
''Technically it's mine'' I just rolled my eyes and walked past her, heading back to my bathroom to plug it in, waiting for it heat.
''Come on you piece of shit...'' I mumbled underneath my breath, noticing the curling iron was playing up.
''Ready to go?'' Screw it. I threw my hair into a low messy bun and walked out of my bathroom after turning off the power switch.
''Your hair...'' Allison commented as I walked down the stairs. I groaned and rolled my eyes.
''I think my curling iron is broken'' I huffed.
''You mean MY curling iron''
''Whatever'' We both laughed before hoping into her car heading, off towards school.
~*~*~*~*
I was too busy chatting to one of my friends when I hear a collision right beside me. With a frown I turn to the side to see both Scott and Allison on the floor, collecting her stuff.
''Clumsy on your feet are we, McCall?'' I sassed, now leaving my friends, which I was surprised I had made seeing it was like only the second day of school, to walk over towards your sister and her guy.
''Something like that'' Scott replies, glancing at me with a look I couldn't really decipher before turning to face Allison again.
''You okay?'' He asked. He was kinda sweet I guess, in a nerdy type of way.
''I'll see you at lunch girl'' Alex said before leaving my side, sending a smile my way.
''Okay'' I replied, ignoring the stares I was now beginning to receive from the school body, mainly the guys.
''Ugh boys are so disgusting'' I exaggerated a little, rolling my eyes at one guy who sent me a wink from across the hallway. Allison looked up at me and laughed while Scott just awkwardly smiled.
''Not all of them are'' She says, obviously referring to Scott. I rolled my eyes once again and glanced down at her and Scott who have now finished collecting her things neatly. They were looking into each others and smiling like idiots.
''I'm going to barf, see you in English'' I said before leaving their side. I took one last look back as I was walking and smiled softly. I'm glad she has someone.
I soon collided with something heavy and almost tripped in my heels when I felt hands quickly snake around my waist, keeping me upright. I turn to face the front and smirk once I saw who it was.
''Hey cutie'' I flirted, watching his cheeks go a crimson red, his arms soon leaving my waist,
''I'm s-so s-sorry, I -didn't-'' I smiled at him which seemed to catch him off guard.
''Relax, I'll live dork'' I rolled my eyes at him, probably making him grow more flustered. I quickly maneuver myself around him and headed over towards my locker.
~*~*~*~*
''She hates me'' Stiles was complaining to his best friend all the way towards lunch. Scott had zoned out after the first minute, not really believing he was talking about someone other than Lydia.
''Or... finds me cute I don't know, she's giving me mixed signals'' Scott sighed before speaking.
''She's Allison's sister dude, she doesn't hate you'' he completed as they made their way to Chemistry.
''How do you know? I mean, for the love of god this... Olive-skinned hottie doesn't even know my name-''
''Olive-skin hottie?'' Scott questioned with furrowed eyebrows and a small smirk.
''Yeah, as in tanned skin, cold as ice, perfect complexion, she has-'' Stiles rambled, taking his seat behind Scott.
''Okay stop, before my ears start to bleed'' Stiles glared at his best friend but dropped the subject.
''Okay well... what about last night?'' Scott sighed.
''That's the last thing I want to talk about right now'' Scott dropped his head.
After a few moments of silence Scott spoke up again.
''Maybe it was my blood on the door...'' Of course he was quiet so only Stiles could hear him.
''Maybe it's animal blood'' Scott turned around to face Stiles with a confused look.
''Maybe you caught a Rabbit and ate it'' Stiles suggested, twirling the pencil in his hand.
''Raw!?'' Scott answered in a 'really' tone.
''No, you stopped to bake it in your little werewolf over, I don't know, you're the one who can't remember anything!'' Stiles replied.
''Mr Stilinski, if that's your idea of a hushed whisper you might want to pull the headphones out every once in a while'' Mr Harris, their chemistry teacher spoke up in front of the class.
''Earphones...'' Stiles mumbled underneath his breath in annoyance.
''I think you and Mr McCall would benefit from a little distance, yes?'' Mr Harris spoke with his hands now on his hips.
''No'' Stiles argued. Harris pointed his fingers and Scott and Stiles sighed, picking up their things to move. Scott soon found himself sitting in front of Jackson. He felt himself beginning to tense.
''Hey, I think they found something!'' Scott ears perked up at the girl beside him as the class rose and all rushed over towards the windows. They all hovered around trying to see what was going on.
''That's not a Rabbit'' Scott spoke up, turning to face Stiles momentarily.
Once the man in the stretcher sits up and yells, everyone gasps and steps back from the window, Scott's eyes widening in realization.
''This is good, this is good'' Stiles tried to calm his friend down.
''He got up, he's not dead. Dead guys can't do that'' Stiles tried to soothe.
''Stiles, I did that''
~*~*~*~*
''But dreams aren't memories'' Stiles countered, walking with Scott hurriedly towards their lunch table.
''Then it wasn't a dream'' Scott said, placing his tray down on the table.
''Something happened last night and I can't remember what'' Scott continues, placing his back on the seat next to him as he sits down across from Stiles.
''What makes you so sure that Derek even has all the answers?'' Stiles asked, now sitting down himself.
''Because, during the full moon, he didn't change. He was in total control, while I was running around in the middle of the night attacking some totally innocent guy'' Scott replied.
''You don't know that'' Stiles bit back.
''I don't not know it'' Scott freaked. Scott glanced to the side and sighed sadly to himself.
''I can't go out with Allison. I have to cancel'' Stiles frowned at this.
''No you're not cancelling, okay? You can't just cancel your entire life. We'll figure it out'' Stiles encouraged, picking up his apple.
''Figure what out?'' I pipe up, hearing the end of their conversation. Cutie's eyes widened as I took a seat next to Scott, Allison sitting on the other side. Lydia took the one at the end of the table while Danny sat next to brown eyes.
''Just, uh, homework''
''Yeah'' I furrowed my eyebrows at their lame save but let it go, smiling over towards Jackson as he came over, sending a smile back.
''Get up'' Jackson spoke to the guy who was sitting next to Lydia.
''How come you never ask Danny to get up?'' The guy whines causing me to roll my eyes in annoyance. I open up my backpack and reach for my lunchbox, beginning to eat. I always hated cafeteria food since being served raw chicken at my third last school in Texas.
''Because I don't stare at his girlfriends coin slot'' I smiled at this and looked up to Danny as he sent me a friendly wink.
''So, I hear they're saying it's some type of animal attack?'' Danny spoke up, obviously referring to the school bus. During class we get an announcement over the P.A from the principle explaining in minimal details of what had happened last night.
''Probably a Cougar?'' Danny wonders aloud to the group.
''I heard Mountain Lion'' Jackson joins. I bow my head down and softly laugh.
''A Cougar is a Mountain Lion... isn't it?'' Lydia speaks, obviously acting dumb. Just another reason why I didn't like this girl.
''Who cares?'' Jackson spoke. I lent back in my chair and looked at the guy across from me who sat in between Danny and Cutie. He stared back and smirked, sending me a wink. I rolled my eyes in disgust and turned my attention away from him.
''The guy's probably some homeless tweaker who's gonna die anyway'' Jackson said without any sensitivity.
''Actually, I just found out who it is check it out'' Brown eyes spoke up, showing his phone to the whole group. I lent forward along with everyone else, watching the video clip.
''I-i-i know this guy'' Both Allison and I turned to face Scott confused.
''You do?'' the both of us spoke in perfect sync. Scott did a double take before continuing.
''Yeah, when I used to take the bus, back when I lived with my dad. He was the driver.'' I frowned and lent back in my chair.
''Can we talk about something more fun, please?'' Lydia spoke in boredom.
''Like, oh, where are we going tomorrow night?'' Lydia asks, turning to face Allison. I frowned and also faced her with my eyebrows furrowed.
Allison gulped on her water and slowly placed it back down in surprise.
''You said you and Scott were hanging out tomorrow night right?'' I gave Allison a 'really' look a she glanced my way before Lydia's.
''Um, we were thinking of what we were going to do'' Allison speaks nervously, glancing at Scott.
''Well, I am not sitting home again watching Lacrosse videos so if the five of us are hanging out, we are doing something fun''
''Five?'' I questioned, turning to face Lydia. She beamed at me and nodded her head.
''You're coming with us too silly'' I gotta give it to her, it did feel like she was being genuinely nice to me.
''Yeah I guess... sounds fun'' Allison still seemed on edge.
''You know what else sounds fun?'' Jackson asked rhetorically,
''Stabbing myself in the face with this fork'' Lydia quickly snatched it out of his had and gave him a stern look. I laughed softly again and glanced across the table.
I watch brown eyes roll his eyes as he drank causing me to smile and laugh slightly more. He looked my way and seem to choke on his water making me laugh more.
''How about bowling? You love to bowl'' Lydia speaks.
''Yeah, with actual competition'' Jackson replies.
''How do you know we're not actual competition?'' Allison sasses back at Jackson with a smile.
''You can bowl, right?" Allison turns to ask Scott. I glance away from cutie over to him, seeing his face drop.
''Sort of''
''Is it sort of, or yes?'' Jackson pushed.
''Yes, in fact, I'm a great bowler'' I had a feeling he wasn't and bowed my head once again, hoping this lunch was going to be over soon.
~*~*~*~*
''Mmm pass'' Lydia sighs, shaking her head. The three of us had been in Allison's room for the past hour watching her go through her clothes finding the perfect outfit for tonight.
''I can't believe I'm saying this but maybe you should wear something of Avery's'' Lydia speaks causing me to smile.
''Nawww, babe'' I mocked towards Lydia but the both of us laughed anyways. Allison just huffed and turned around to face her wardrobe with a frown.
''Okay, let me see'' Lydia stood up and walked over, deciding to go through the wardrobe once again.
''Mm pass, pass, pass, pass.. pass on all of it'' Lydia says as she goes through each top.
''God, Allison, respect for your taste it dwindling by the second'' I tried not to laugh at the whole scenario. Allison was always the better dresser out of the both of us so it boggled my mind that she didn't have an outfit for this group date.
''Hmm, this'' Lydia pulls out a sparkly top for Allison. Allison takes it and walks over towards her wall length mirror and puts it up against her front.
We all hear the door click open as dad enters the room. Allison's eyes widen.
''Dad, hello?'' She questions, though she probably gave him a look.
''Right, sorry, I forgot to knock'' Dad says, slipping on his jacket.
''Hell Mr Argent' I heard Lydia's preppy voice sign as she falls onto the bed. With this I roll my eyes. Just as I was starting to like her...
''Dad do you need something?'' I spoke up, sitting up on the bed as I looked over his face for any signs of anything. I'm an observer.
''I wanted to tell you girls that you'll be staying in tonight'' I groaned as I slumped back into Allison's bed.
''What? We're going out with out friends tonight'' Allison began disappointed.
''Not when some animal is out there attacking people'' Dad, the over protective parent.
''Dad, dad I-''
''It's out of my hands, there's a curfew. No one's allowed out past 9:30pm'' Allison rolled her eyes and threw her shirt onto the bed next to me.
''Hey, no more arguing'' He sternly replied to Allison before sending me a look as well. He turned around and walked out the bedroom door.
''It's not fair, why does he get to go out?'' I whined. Allison turned to face me curiously.
''What do you mean?'' She asked confused.
''He was putting on his everyday jacket, duh, he was heading out too'' I gestured towards the door.
''Daddy's little girls'' Lydia speaks up to both Allison and I.
''Sometimes, But not tonight'' My eyes widened once I saw Allison look over to her closed bedroom door and reach for her beanie. I sat up and stood next to Lydia. We both watched as she walked towards the window and climbed out onto the roof, doing a double flip onto the grass. Lydia's eyes widened when mine rolled. Show off.
''8 years gymnastics, are you coming?'' She whisper shouts from the ground.
''Yeah, I'll take the stairs'' Lydia speaks, allowing me to go past her to also hop out the window too.
''You're not going flip down too, are you?'' Lydia asks.
''I prefer a more subtle approach'' With this I walked over to the edge and bent down. I reached for the guttering and gripped, pulling my body off and then let go, swiftly landing on the ground with no stumble. I wiped my hands against my jeans.
''Let's go''
~*~*~*~*
My date was going horrible. The guy found an excuse to put his hands on body every five seconds. He even had the nerve to show me how to bowl when I already knew how to. He made me lose, big time.
On the other hand I was happy for my sister though. Her and Scott seemed to be having a good time despite Jackson practically being a dick to them the whole night. Once it was my date's turn to bowl again I quickly moved to sit beside Allison. She looked at me slightly worried.
''Are you okay?'' she asked, leaning in to me so that Scott couldn't overhear our conversation.
''Yeah, I'm fine, dickwad over here keep trying to touch me every five seconds though'' Allison softly laughed at the nickname I used but quickly became serious once again.
''It's whatever, let's talk about you'' I quickly threw this conversation onto Allison. I wiggled my eyebrows at her as she began to blush.
''Your date seems to be going extremely well'' She blushed more.
''It has been... one of the greatest dates I've ever been on'' My eyes widen with happiness. I was about to squeal in excitement for her but she quickly hushed me.
''It's not a big deal'' She mumbles.
''It's a huge deal! I am so happy for you Ally'' I lean in and hug her, the both of us smiling. I pull away and glance at her.
''God I envy you, sis'' She looks at me weirdly before I continue.
''You got this whole.. guy think down pat. I've tried since we came here but... all I'm finding is-'' I was cut off by the sound of my date hollering as he scored a strike. Jackson went up and petted him on the back, the both of them doing a bro hand shake thing that was too over the top. I turned around back to Allison in disgust.
''That'' Allison laughs softy.
''I could have set you up with a really great guy'' My eyes brighten at this.
''Who?''
''Scott's best friend'' My eyebrows furrow together in confusion. Allison looks at me as if I had grown two heads.
''You know, the brown haired, skinny guy who is always with Scott...'' She trails off, looking at my expression to see if anything clicks. Nothing.
''He drives a jeep...'' I shake my head.
''He's sarcastic and always staring at you?'' Still, nothing.
''He has brown eyes-'' My eyes widen in realization.
''Oh, you mean cutie?'' I asked. Allison looked at me weirdly.
''Stiles'' She says, leaving me very confused.
''What the hell is a Stiles?''
