In the absolute highlight of my week, I was talking to my (very sheltered) grandma (Lived in a village of a thousand people all her life in an absolutely orthodox family, has trouble with the concepts of multiple countries and time zones, absolutely unaware of a thing such as homosexuality)
I told her that these days even two women or two men can get married. And then if they want children, they can adopt. And she's like oh I haven't heard of that, is this more of a thing in foreign countries ( we live in India). I explained yeah, but there are people in India who do it too.
She pondered a bit about, yeah they can't have biological children (didn't want to go into the whole surrogacy sperm donation thing), but adoptions great! A child gets parents and parents get a child!
Then for the part I was absolutely not prepared for, she proceeded to ask me about the sex. Keep in mind this is an 80 year old woman who reads scriptures and mythological stories all day.
The way she asked was also amazing, because we don't share the vocabulary for sex, or lust, or sensual desire. She tells me a story about Diti and how she really wanted her husband Kashyap one fine evening and Kashyap kept saying no "because it's evening time and the gods will curse us" (amazing reason to not have sex Kashyap, 10/10, gonna use this when I'm not in the mood next time)
So my Grandma says, what do these two married women do if they feel like that. And I am speechless. I did not expect that from my sweet grandma. And idk what to say. So I tell her, well they get married when they're in love with each other (arranged marriage is the norm here). She's like, yeah ofc and looks at me like I'm not understanding her question. "Love is awesome, but" proceeds to tell story again, "what do they do for that?"
One of the great regrets of my life that I was not ready for that and told her a lesbian story from mythology and moved on.
I am in awe of this wonderful woman.
I am so so happy. What a wonderful woman. I hope someday when I encounter a strange concept I've never heard of, I respond to it with that open curiosity and acceptance.

The pishacha are manifestations of evil itself, locked within a cursed amulet. The wearer of the amulet is at the mercy of the demon, known for possessing humans and feeding off their host's chakra energy. However, if symbiosis is achieved, the pishacha can grant its host a myriad of powerful abilities.
I just needed to draw something cool okay. I needed to draw some cool goop and some cool looks okay. okay. if I didn't post this I would have exploded okay

The "Pompeii Lakshmi," in both the shape it was originally discovered in and as reassembled. When found in the ruins of Pompeii in the 1930s, the statuette was thought to be of the goddess Lakshmi, but it is more likely an Indian tree spirit. Nevertheless, it is tangible evidence of ancient trade between India and Rome, which seems to have been quite robust.

Heracles and the Buddha
This is based on the fascinating fusion of cultures after Alexander the Great invaded India, otherwise known as Indo-Greek or Greco-Buddhism. In Gandharan sculpture, Heracles is depicted alongside the Buddha as Vajrapani, the Buddha's protector. The pairing of two figures so iconic in their mythologies seemed perfect material for art. The Buddha would help Heracles with anger management, while Heracles would help with clobbering evildoers. Business as usual.

Anyway, this was the best snapshot I could get with the dim, red lighting but to help with your imagination:
Imagine a woman with her pitch-black hair let loose and wild. Her eyes are red and burning. There is a vermillion bindi on her forehead. She is wearing a garland of red hibiscus flowers. Her mouth is crimson with the fresh blood she drank from a sinner. She has had her revenge but it is not complete. There are more sinners to destroy and consume.
If she reminds you of Maa Kali, Slayer of Raktabija, who defeated the asura by drinking every last drop of his blood, then you would not be far off the mark.
Anyway, all this is to say is that Tooth Pari on Netflix is really good!

Bro there's an Indian temple inside a cave deep in the mountains of kashmir called amarnath in which, every year, 3 shivlings (Shiva linga, is an abstract or aniconic representation of the Hindu god Shiva in Shaivism. It is typically the primary murti or devotional image in Hindu temples dedicated to Shiva, also found in smaller shrines, or as self-manifested natural objects.) made entirely out of ice formed by small drops of rainwater let in by tiny holes and cracks in the ceiling that are naturally placed at such an angle to give shape to the shivling. These shivlings start forming around april/may but it takes months for the government to clear the path and thus the tourism season starts in july, and the shivlings automatically melt a month or so after. Thousands of people travel and hike to worship this place. Isn't that cool? Indian temples rock!

Shiva and Parvati seated on Nandi, one of the many sculptures enshrined in niches around the walls of Sahastrabahu Temple in Rajasthan, India. The walls of Sahastrabahu temple are decked with stone carvings of gods, goddesses, celestial nymphs, mythological beasts in typical Maru-gurjar style of architecture.

Astrological Alchemy: The Planetary Puzzle of Superhuman Intelligence
The Answer is Ketu which is the most intelligent planet among all according as my studies.
Tumblr media
Well, Shakuntala Devi was an Indian mental calculator and writer, popularly known as the "Human Computer". Her talent earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records. In her birth chart, Ketu is sitting with Mercury, Sun and Mars.
Tumblr media
What is Ketu basically?
Ketu is past life.
Ketu is boredom.
Ketu is detachment.
Ketu is experience.
Ketu represents nothingness.
Ketu represents psychology.
Ketu can feel things without watching anything.
This means that when you have experienced the knowledge of any skill fully in your past life, you can do wonders in this life with the help of that knowledge.
Because nobody knows better than you in that field than you know it.Ketu also never runs behind anything that's why things come to a person easily with Ketu conjunctions or aspects.
How can we see what skills we have already experienced in our past life-
If Ketu sits or aspects Moon-These people have gone through lot of mental torture in past life. Now in present life, these people have learned to make their mind(Moon) stronger than anyone else.
If Ketu sits with or aspects Sun- In their previous life ,these people were trapped in such situations that they were not allowed to take a single decision regarding their life or other person's life. Due to taking away all their powers of authority in previous life, now in present life, these people finally realized to surrender to the superpower(universe) and understood the fact that no 🍃 leaf can move without the permission of Superpower(Universe). This let them win over their ego(Sun) and surrender to the God(universe).
If Ketu sits or aspect Mercury: In their previous life, these people used to memeorise knowledge in rote methodology and they connect with other peope with the help of physical technology (phone, computer , Other method of communication etc). In their present life, these people can connect to this dimension or other dimension by meditation or dreams, etc. Their understanding skills(Mercury) are more powerful than their rote memorization skills.
If Ketu sits with or aspect Venus-In their previous life, these people have conquered the beauty of this universe in form of making sexual relations and buying luxury things . Due to repercussions faced by hurting femine energy , now in their present life, they have realized the importance of living and embracing the beauty(Venus) rather than conquering it.
If Ketu sits with or aspect Mars- In their previous life, these people are extremly courageous and non-violent in nature. They have used enough of their physical powers on others and because of that they have to face the horrible troubles of violence. In the present life, these people have realized the power of courage with non-violence(Mars).
If Ketu sits with or aspect Jupiter- In their previous life, these people have done enough of rituals to praise their dieties that now realized the importance of simple devotion towards their God. In this life, these people live in devotion with the universe. They are spiritual and have won over true wisdom(Jupiter).
If Ketu sits with or aspect Saturn- In their previous life, these people went through tremendous amount of depression due to over controlling nature of others on them. In their present life, they have realized the importance of liberty and freedom of an individual. They make someone feel free to live. They have won over their controlling(Saturn) nature towards others. They have learned to control their expectations from others.
Note- When Ketu conjunct or aspect any planet, it shows that either these people have suffered in past life related to that planet or will suffer in first half of this life just to make them realize the true nature of the planet.

When the non binary planet fell in love with a gender fluid deity <3
part 1 here
part 2
Tumblr media
Ila/Sudyumna: she/him
Budh: they/them
source: the Hindu mythology tales according to which Ila gave birth to Chandravanshis (the lunar dynasty) and Budh was the Mercury planet
"Budh!"
Budh shot straight up
Was it a figment of their imagination or-
"BUDH!"
"Prince?"
Sudyumna came into sight, glint in his eyes and tightening his grip on his bow
"Shh" he said and closed behind a tree beside Budh "It's hunting time! Being in the palace alone it does indeed get boring in the kingdom after a while if you aren't the ruler yourself. I thought I'd come here and suddenly remembered you" He winked at Budh whose heart skipped a beat at that
Hold yourself together
Budh shook the thoughts away
"Look!" Sudyumna lowered his voice and crouched
A deer was about to enter the grove, his head turning around scanning for possible danger. When he suspected none, he jumped over the boundary from the path to inside the forest now
Just as Sudyumna was pulling his bowstring backward, keeping his eyes on the deer, his mouth fell upon
A light was surrounding the deer until it wasn't visible and when it dissolved, the deer's antelope had vanished
It had turned into a female!
Sudyumna turned to look at Budh with widened eyes
"Magic of Shravana" they explained "Whichever male creature enters the forest transforms into a male"
Sudyumna couldn't believe their words. He suddenly looked around his own body in frenzy "NO!" He put his hands up against his face and closed his eyes, bracing himself but when he opened them again nothing had changed
"You've already been.." Budh looked away in guilt "One month as your male body and one as female" they blurted "You wouldn't remember the memories of what you spent time in the other gender's body. I saw you for the first time that day and tried to warn you, prince. But you had already entered."
Sudyumna bit his lower lip. He looked at the sky now and closed his eyes, feeling the wind which made his curls fly against his face
He was so beautiful Budh thought. His curls and smile were an unimaginable contrast to Budh's dull life so far, something that had altered their path forever. Sudyumna's golden ray gently radiating upon Budh's heart's foliage, Sudyumna's throne covered in Budh's moss. Sudyumna's moon full of Budh's craters and Sudyumna's purpose filled with Budh's devotion. Destinies intertwined, orbiting each other
"I trust you" he said, finally opening his eyes, his gaze falling upon Budh "As a.. I mean, when I'm a woman you will not leave me, right? You will be there with me, Budh?"
With you? I've always been because of you
"Make me remember us" Ila's voice sweetly kissed Budh's ears
Only if I could
"Of course I will be there with you" they replied
Sudyumna smiled
Months after months this went on. Sudyumna then Ila and Sudyumna and again
Budh was there always, telling Ila stories of what she did as Sudyumna and she'd always be grinning ear to ear, enjoying hearing her life as a charming prince from her lover. But Budh just couldn't do the vice versa. They were so afraid that Sudyumna would feel betrayed if he came to know about it. No, Budh couldn't do that. They'd lose Sudyumna forever
But they were also miserable to hide it all from him
Because after all, it was the same person
It felt like running away from an important side of their lover which they needed to be honest with if they loved truly
"I somehow feel empty, Budh" Ila whispered as she lay on her lover's chest "Not because of you. It's like I'm missing something important. It's- wait" she got up "You haven't confessed to my male version Sudyumna yet? Does he know?"
Budh fell silent
Ila understood what they were going through. She held their face tenderly and said nothing, tears freely flowing down both their cheeks
One day when the soul was in Sudyumna's body, he broke down in Budh's arms
"I don't remember a thing from when I'm a woman! It's.. it's so scary, Budh. And you also evade most of the details when I ask you what I'm like as a woman. Why? I feel emptiness as if I'd never be able to find a crucial part of me."
Budh felt like screaming. They wanted to wail and reveal everything but they already felt like a sinner for keeping it from him for so long
Sudyumna cried and cried
After a few days, he came to Budh again "I know what I have to do" he declared firmly "Shravana is designed by Shiva, isn't it? I will devote the rest of my life to him until he restores my masculine nature back permanently."
Budh stood at their place, frozen
Ila would be gone away forever and with her, the memories of Budh would too
Here and
There
Found and
Lost
They turned their face away, sobbing silently
Budh had kept their lover to themselves for too long
They had to let go now
"I shall pray that you succeed in your endeavour, prince" they whispered, wiping their tears away hurriedly and turning back to face Sudyumna
Sudyumna knelt at Budh's feet and held their hands
"Thank you, Budh. For everything"
Budh smiled
Sudyumna was in the midst of the most intense tapasya of Mahadev. He had gone far away from his kingdom, his privilege, and sat on the rock
Up in Kailasha, Parvati kept a hand on her husband's shoulder and said
"You should go bless him now, swami"
"And take back Shravana's power upon him? But it was your idea, priye"
"And I'm the one requesting you, now. Please go to this boy who has touched my heart with your devotion"
"Open your eyes"
Sudyumna did and bowed to the almighty Mahadev, sighing at finally reaping the fruit of his karma
"I know what you desire, Sudyumna and I shall grant it to you but-"
"But what, Mahadev!?" Sudyumna clenched his chest in worry
"But what about your lover?" Shiva smiled mysteriously
"WHAT?"
But before he could further say anything, Shiva held his palm out to give Sudyumna his boon.
Sudyumna gasped as all his memories as Ila came flooding back to him as well
"BUDH!" he called out desperately, running now "BUDH!"
Budh opened their eyes from slumber. Were they imagining things again? Sudyumna has been haunting them since he left. Just falling asleep had been difficult because when they close their eyes, all they could see was Sudyumna/Ila. But now that they had finally managed to go to sleep, that bittersweet voice had come to haunt them again
"BUUUUDHHH!"
"SUDYUMNA?"
Sudyumna tackled Budh in a fierce hug, making them go toppling down on the grass together
Sudyumna kissed all Budh's face and parted a little to get a clear look of his lover
"I told you to make me remember, you idiot!" he whispered curses and started crying at seeing Budh's eyes softening in the yearning they had been through all this while
"Never do this ever again or I will hunt YOU DOWN" Sudyumna embraced him tightly again "Promise?"
"I do" Budh smiled

Dasavatharam
I recently found out some sects of Hinduism include Buddha as the 9th Avatar in Vishnu's Dasavatharam.
I am from the southern part specifically Tamilnadu, here even in our temple the inscriptions and statues for Dasavatharam always included Balaramar as one of the Vishnu Avatars, not Buddha. Like in the below order. I have used Tamil pronunciation for all.
Matsyam
Kurmam
Varaham
Narasimham
Vamanam
Parashuramar
Ramar
Balaramar
Krishnar
Kalki
This made me so curious about how different Hinduism practices are around India or the world but still hold a string of similarities among them
Which one you have heard growing up? Put it in the comments.

I'm curious. How many of you know that the word Avatar actually comes from India?
Asking because this is the fourth time I'm hearing that word from outside, and it's never related to India.
The cartoon has Chinese themes, the James Cameron movie is sci-fi, the typical online thing just means persona, and now on Moon Knight, it's linked to the Egyptian gods.
When in fact, the Ten Avatars of Vishnu (Indian major god) is one of the most important stories in my culture.
Why does this matter? Well, Indian myths and legends pass under the radar when compared to Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Norse, and Egyptian. I feel like a lot of people end up getting the wrong impression.
