werewolf iwaizumi who gets a lot clingier around the full moon. he's already someone who is pretty protective of the people he cares about but it's amplified around the full moon. he feels.. antsier when they aren't with him and he can't touch them. (this applies to partners and his friends)

and he hates feeling this way, he prides himself on being a rational person (in contrast to oikawa's dramatics) and he knows this is irrational. and so he doesn't really voice that he's feeling this way to anyone because he would feel like an asshole if he did. obviously, they can't put their lives on hold.

but... sometimes, he thinks they know. oikawa leaves the house less around the full moons. oikawa, matsukawa, and hanamaki all come out to the woods with iwa for his shifts. and matsukawa and hanamaki hang around the house more often. they both play it off like they're there to annoy oikawa but iwa has a feeling that's not exactly it.

suga seems understanding of this, maybe it's something he and oikawa have talked about. even when he starts dropping by around the full moons with food for iwaizumi, he doesn't stick around. just long enough to say hi to everyone and give iwaizumi his well wishes and explain what exactly he's brought him today. iwaizumi's not really sure how suga seems to know exactly what iwaizumi needs to eat around then but he appreciates it. he doesn't always have the energy to cook and none of his friends are exactly master chefs.

the more time iwaizumi spends getting to know suga though, the more he wants him to stay. suga has seemingly wormed himself into the group of people that iwaizumi (secretly) considers his pack. he's important to him and iwaizumi feels weird and antsy when suga's not around on the full moons.

and, in a moment of weakness, iwaizumi asks him to stay when he drops by the morning of the first full moon with some of iwaizumi's favorite full moon foods. he frames it as if it's for oikawa and not him.

he doesn't think suga believes him but suga also doesn't push the subject when he agrees to stay.

and iwaizumi feels whole again.

iwaizumi & oikawa ⋆·˚ ༘ *

this is random but i feel like they're the type to throw you in the pool LMAO

Oikawa and Iwaizumi teaming up to prank you: "get their legs, I'll grab them from the arm" one of them whispers

and before you know it, your thrown into the water

then iwaizumi joins in on the fun before dragging Oikawa's ankle

you’re always on the look out if they start bickering

when oikawa says/ does something stupid/mean or annoying iwaizumi usually bonks him on the head

sometimes iwa would look at you and nod “i’ll let you do the honors” (of hitting oikawa)

oikawa would pout “you’re on his side?!”

“nuh uh uh uh, don’t gimme that” you’d say when he tries to guilt-trip you

also staying up late at night to talk on facetime or phone calls

sometimes just leaving the call on while you guys are doing something whether it is studying, working out (Iwaizumi of course LOL), even baking

people kind of find you guys intimidating

the cool kids of the school

ppl would come up to you and Iwa to try to get Oikawa’s number but you’d just tell them:

“ask him yourself”

those two r also quite overprotective of you

anyone who tries to mess with you or bullies you will face the wrath of those guys

in fact no one dares to, especially with Iwaizumi’s scary brooding aura that he carries around

that dude is the arm wrestling champion, no one would ever dare mess with his friends

but that doesn’t mean you don’t fight back

they gotta hold you back when you do lol

cue iwaizumi scolding you for getting into a fight

oikawa on the side snickering like the little shit he is

at the end of the day you all love each other

you r always always rooting for each other and your dreams

that’s why when they lost the game, you couldn’t hold your tears back as you hugged them while they sobbed into your shoulder

and that day you all graduated, the same thing happened

tears of happiness, relief, nostalgia, and melancholy mixed together

ushijima & tendou ⋆·˚ ༘ *

being from a prestigious school and friends with the well-known pair is something that you are always reminded of by others

to you, they are just Ushijima and Tendou, two volleyball dorks

you guys workout together, having morning runs which sometimes end up with you and tendou racing

but sometimes its a light jog, having a chat while you’re at it

study buddies!!

study sessions are mostly quiet as you all try to focus but would sometimes get chatty due to Tendou’s random thoughts

“Have you noticed that we never bite downwards? Our bottom jaw does most of the work…” he says after playing with his bottom jaw, doing clanking noises with his teeth as he bites air.

“Ten—” you try to make him focus on his studies again but Ushijima perks up.

“Huh, you’re right.” And Ushijima starts doing the same thing, making you facepalm

And a new conversation starts, sidetracking you guys from your work.

you probably are the smartest out of them all, so it’s more of a tutoring session than a study session lol

ushijima is amazed by your skill and encourages you to be a teacher

tendou shrieks at his comment, laughing bc the image of you standing in front of a class somehow tickles him

you end up talking a lot about your future goals and that is enough to bring your focus back to the studying

during games you are always cheering for them

after every win, the two of them high five and then look up at you doing an air fist bump

and your fist bumping right back with a toothy grin

“Cmon, it was totally obvious that we were gonna win. With our ace Wakatoshi-kun here~” Tendou says smugly, nudging the ace by his shoulder.

“Tendou stop acting like your blocking didn’t contribute,” you said.

“y/n’s right. You also did great,” Ushijima says with sincerity.

“Haha, I know, I was trying to be humble,” Tendou jokes.

while everyone saw them as the cool, scary tall dudes from volleyball, only you get to see this other side of them.

but you’ve also shown your vulnerable side to them as well

and they wouldn’t have it any other way

mattsun & makki ⋆·˚ ༘ *

you three definitely have a handshake

your hands cross over each other to hold one of theirs, making a combination of shakes and bumps before each game

or whenever you’d meet

tons of inside jokes omFG

your groupchat is probably titled from an inside joke

matching profiles!!!!!!! (not all the time tho sometimes you each make your own)

your groupchat is never dull with Makki constantly sending memes and tiktoks in the dead of the night, making your phone screen flash in your darkened room

and you always know it’s Makki bc he’s a night owl

you wake up to a fckton of text messages, Mattsun, the early bird, reacting to each and every one

and you know he’s already on the bus if he’s got the time to be going through his phone like this

sometimes you silence your phone and forget to unmute the chat

and that’s what they usually bother you about

you guys are one of those type of friends that aren’t scared of skinship (hugs, holding hands)

copying homework/notes off each other when one person did it last minute (due to working late)

either way you help each other with any troubles you have

prob made frienship bracelets when you were kids but your wrists overgrew them so now you call keep them as keychains ❣️

teaming up together to bully your team captain Oikawa LOL

for some reason when one of u start getting super emotional, the other two would start laughing and slapping the back of the crier

ex: you and Makki surprise Mattsun with a birthday gift he’s always wanted

he ends up sobbing in his hands while you and makki are laughing your asses off, patting his back

other ppl would judge you guys for laughing but it’s just how your friendship was

it’s your guys’ way of showing love and adoration for each other

and you all understand that <3

sakusa & komori ⋆·˚ ༘ *

your group is very tightly knit

might be due to sakusa’s introvertedness or something lol

it’s you three that are always seen hanging out together

when someone mentions one name, the other two is followed

or sometimes “Where are Sakusa and the others?” or “y/n and the others” or “komori and the others”

ngl y’all are THAT bitches

you + one of the top THREE ace spikers + the number ONE high school, whew what a squad

komori has you guys as his wallpaper for sure, his best buds

oh yeah, because of Komori’s extrovertedness, he is sometimes seen talking to people you’ve never met before

you and sakusa would be like “damn who’s that”, just in awe of how easy it is for Komori to make conversation with anyone

because Komori and Sakusa are cousins, you’re often invited to family gatherings

practically part of the family now

if you don’t join family gatherings, younger cousins/nephews/nieces are sad

“where is y/n-chan? 🥺” when you’re late to one of the baby’s birthday party

sakusa and komori blow up your texts

“bitch where are you”, “the kids are asking for you”

“SORRYSORYRYRU im omw” you reply

and one of the kids are saving a slice of cake for you.

you and komori are used to Sakusa’s bluntess

having to apologize to ppl who are on the receiving end of the harshness of it

he’s no lose at truth or dare that’s for sure (bc he’s always selecting truth, but also he ends up saying how bored he is so you and Komori end up playing alone lol)

what some ppl don’t realize is that he can be a jokester too

and that usually shows when he’s playing volleyball or sending funny memes in the gc

or typically when he’s around you two

in fact you all feel comfortable showing different sides of yourself to each other.

you’ve seen each other at your lowest but also your highest

miya twins & suna ⋆·˚ ༘ *

not. a. dull. day. with them.

esp cuz of the twins who r constantly bickering omg

you and suna would try to break them up at first but eventually give up, tired of it

that’s why now suna’s taking photos when they look ridiculous fighting

“throw up a peace sign or somethin,” he’d say calmly, holding up his camera while you pose in front of the twins who are strangling each other.

“like this?” you ask holding up two fingers next to your face, ignoring the grunts and frustrated screams.

“yeah! That’s good…lean to the right a little…yeah…” suna (17), meme creator

aran would walk in watching the scene, debating if he should help or just leave (he ends up helping)

sometimes aran would look at you wondering how you put up with those guys.

but perhaps that’s the reason you’re their best friend

twins are also teaming up and nagging you two as well, making you and suna form a rivalry w them (affectionate ofc)

although there are times when you’d have your own moments with each of them

you’re much more empathetic when it comes to consoling them when they’re having a bad day

they feel comfortable sharing their struggles with you privately, or if one person is pissing the other person off they complain to you

you’re like the angel of the group

but also, only they know you’re devilish side (prob cuz they bring it out of you LOL)

when you start acting all sweet n kind to someone else they just roll their eyes and go “eh, don’t fall for the sweet act, yer just gonna—” and it earns a slap from you

you know they love you tho + vice versa

The first word Iwaizumi ever learned to say was Tooru.

Of course, he doesn't remember this. He doesn't remember much of anything from that age, unless you count the time he spilled juice all over himself in the car when he was around four, which is only ingrained into his mind because he'd ruined his favourite shirt. But apart from that, every other moment from that time has by now already blurred together into a mesh of I-guess-that-happened and I-don't-really-remember. His memory's never been that good.

His mom is the one who relives the past to him whenever they find an old album, dated back to when Iwaizumi was still in diapers and slid out of his car seat every time he sneezed. She'd flip through them with nostalgic praise, as if momentarily anchored by the steady changes in every framed corner. The soft nub of a fist, a dust of hair; a smile, a pout, two tangled bodies. And Iwaizumi saw how even at that age, he was already glued to Oikawa's side and Oikawa to his, their chubby fingers clinging onto each other like a lifeline.

The only reason he knows Tooru was his first word is because his mom sent him the video. In some grainy, muted blue-grey resolution, he watched himself at sixteen months curled up behind and double-fisting a napping Oikawa's sleep sack before mumbling, distinctively, "Too-woo." There were also pictures from that day that his mom sent over right after. Stamped in the corner of them was the date: October 26, 1995.

As surprising as it should've been, and as much as he thought his mom would've been peeved that his first word wasn't mama like every other kid, she reasoned that Oikawa and him have been stuck at the hip from the moment they were born, so it came as expected as anything.

"I wouldn't have expected anything less," were her exact words. Apparently it was inevitable, really. Iwaizumi was sixteen months old, Oikawa fifteen, and the only word he knew then was Tooru.

Looking back, he thinks he's always known just how important that name would be to him.
