#I sometimes get asked why I don't write about certain characters and it's not (usually) because I don't like them

Note
Seeing as you're getting asked a lot about live action, which characters outside of Makino and Shanks are your favourite to write about? Hancock? Buggy? The Straw Hats?
All of the above! You can usually tell which characters I love to write the most by how often they show up in my fics, like when I write the Straw-Hats, it's often from Nami's perspective, because she hits that sweet spot between 'extremely intelligent character with 100 contingency plans' and 'idiot who's never too proud to go along with the other idiots' shenanigans'. I also just love writing the Straw-Hats; they add a necessary levity to the more dramatic moments in my big fics, and their scenes together are always some of my favourite to write. I've yet to do a Straw-Hat centric fic, because my interests lie with a certain captain and barmaid, but they show up a lot in my writing for a reason.
My love for Buggy and Hancock came about a bit accidentally. I first started writing the latter through my Mihawk x Hancock fics, and I found her character incredibly compelling, the way she's so driven by her feelings while at the same time giving an appearance of being completely unfeeling. She's also a great foil to Makino for that reason, who's also driven by her emotions but who has no qualms about showing it, and after Mnemosyne, I loved their friendship so much I've started including it in the other Shanties timelines. Luffy might have taught Hancock what romantic love is (or what she believes it is, anyway), but at least in my stories, the one who taught her what it means to love is Makino. You'd also think my love for Buggy came about through his canon association with Shanks, but that was Makino, too. Their combative dynamic (read: Buggy's poorly-handled crush) first started in Andromeda Unbound, but is now a Shanties staple. I also just think he's a fascinating character, having spent his childhood and career in the shadows of others, Shanks more than anyone else, and yet he's got the exact same ability to drum up loyalty that Shanks does, and Luffy. Honestly, Buggy for Pirate King.
Another character I really love to write is Roger. Outside of Peony and Silver, his only major role is in Tideswept, but he's always such a delight to write. Like Nami, he strikes that perfect balance between 'knows more than everyone else in the room' and 'unrepentant agent of chaos'. (I also can't not mention Blackbeard, my villain among villains, who I love writing for the same reason that I love writing Roger, except with an added dash of evil.)
And of course, there are the marines - Garp and Tsuru and Sengoku (and Sengoku's goat), although my favourites are the random recruits in the various navy bases and New Marineford just trying to do their jobs. The bureaucracy and administration and everyday goings-on of this giant military organisation that is so much more than the powerful figureheads at the top.
But more than anything, it's Shanks and Makino, although their lives and stories are about more than just each other, which is something I hope my writing manages to convey<3

most writing advice is good as long as you know why it is good, at which point it is also bad. the hardest thing (and most precious thing) about being an artist is that you gotta learn how to take critique. i don't mean "just shut up and accept that people hate your work," i mean you need to learn what the critique is saying and then figure out if it actually helps.
i usually tell people reading my work: "i'm collecting data, so everything is useful." i ask them where they put the book down, even though it's too long for most people to read in 1 sitting. i ask them what they thought of certain characters. i let them tell me it was really good but i like it more when they look a little stunned and say i forgot i was reading your book, which means they forgot i exist, which is very good news.
sometimes people i didn't ask will read my work and tell me i don't like it. and that is okay, you don't have to like it. but i look at the thing that they don't like and try to figure out if i care. i don't like that you don't capitalize. this one is common, and i have already thought about it. i do not care, it's because of chronic pain and frankly i like the little shape of small letters. you use teeth and ribs in all your work. actually that is very true. i don't know what's up with that. next time i will work to figure out a different word, thank you. you're whiny, go outside. someone said that to me recently and it made me laugh. i am on the whine-about-it website as an internet poet. you are in my native habitat, watching me perform a natural enrichment behavior. but i like the dip of whiny, how the word itself does "whine" (up/down, the sound out your nose on the y), but i don't know if i want to feel whiny. maybe next time i will work on it being melancholy, like what you would call a male writer's poetry.
repeated "good" advice clangs in a bell and doesn't hold a real shape, dilutes in the water. like sometimes you will hear "don't use said." you turn that around in your head and it bounces off the edges of your brain like it is a dvd screensaver. it isn't bad advice, but it feels wrong somehow, like saying easy choices are illegal! sometimes i will only use "said." sometimes i will just kick dialogue tags out to the trash. sometimes i make little love poems where the fact that i do not say "said" is very bad, and makes you feel bad in your body, because someone didn't say something. i am a contrary little shitbird, i guess.
but it is also good advice, actually. it is trying to say that "said" sometimes is clutter. it makes new writers think about the very-small words and very-small choices, because actually your work matters and wordchoice matters. "i know," you said. "i know," you sighed. "i know." we both know but neither of us use a dialogue tag, because we are in a contemporary lit piece.
it is too-small to say don't use said. but it is a big command, so it gets your attention. what are you relying on? what easy choices do you make? when you edit, do you choose the same thing? can you make a different choice? sometimes we need the blankness of said, how it slides into the background. sometimes we don't.
i usually say best advice is to read, but i also mean read books you don't like, because that will make you angry enough to write your own book. i also mean read good books, which will break your heart and remind you that you are a very small person and your voice is a seashell. i also mean you need to eat books because reading a book is a writer's version of studying.
my creative writing teacher in the 7th grade had a big red list of no! words and on it was SUNSET. RAZORS. LOVE. GALAXY. DEATH. BLOOD. PAIN. I liked that razor and love were tucked next to each other like birds, and found it funny that he believed we were too young to know the weight of razor in the context of pain. i hated him and his Grateful Dead belt, where the colored teddy bears held up his appraisal of us. i hated his no list. it is very good/bad advice. i wasn't old enough yet to know that when you are writing about death you are also writing about sunsets and when you write about love you are tucking yourself into a napkin that never stops folding.
back then my poetry was all bloody, dripped with agony when you picked it up. i didn't know there is nothing beautiful about a razor, nothing exciting about pain. i just understood sharpness, which he took to mean i understood nothing. i wrote the razor down and it wasn't easy, but it was necessary. that's what i'm saying - sometimes it's good advice, because it's not always necessary. and sometimes it is very bad advice, because writing about it is lifesaving.
hang on my dog was just having a nightmare. i heard that it is a rule not to write about dogs - in my creative writing mfa, my teacher rolled her eyes and said everyone writes a dead dog. the literature streets are littered in canine bodies. i watched the rise and fall of his ribs (there is that word again) and had to reach out and stop the bad dream. when he woke up he didn't recognize me, and he was afraid.
it is good/bad advice to say that poems and writing have to mean something. it is bad/good advice to say they're big feelings in small packages. it is better advice to say that when my dog saw where he was, he relaxed immediately, rubbed his face against me. someone on instagram would make fun of that moment by writing their "internet poetry" as a sentence that tumbles across a white page: outside it is sunset and my dog is still in a gutter, bleeding a galaxy out of his left paw. or maybe it would be: i woke the dog up/the dog forgot i loved him/and i saw the shape of a senseless/and impossible pain.
the dog is alive in this one, and he is happy. when i tell you i love you, i know what i said. write what you need to write, be gentle to yourself about it. the advice is only as good as far as it helps. the rest is just fencing. take stock of the boundaries, and then break them. there's always somewhere else you could be growing.
i love you, keep going.

presenting the obey me dateables (+ luke) with a friendship bracelet
Tumblr media
you all asked so nicely for the dateables that i couldn't help but get inspired! i intend to reverse this prompt and write the characters making you a friendship bracelet sometime soon (will be split by demon brothers/dateables bc that's so many words)
[the demon brothers version]
[the dateables (+ luke) presenting you with a friendship bracelet]
content warnings: none
Tumblr media
prompt: you grin down at your work. in your hands is a small friendship bracelet, lovingly crafted from hard work and the embroidery thread you found in your closet. you weren't quite sure why you'd made it, but the thought of giving a certain someone the bracelet and watching their reaction made you smile. now, to hand it off...
Tumblr media
Diavolo
this is a mistake.
at least, that's what barbatos and lucifer think. because from the moment you present diavolo with a friendship bracelet, it is all he talks about.
when you approach him with the little gift--a red and black bundle of knots and strings-- and offer it up, he laughs jovially and asked what it was. you explain it's a friendship bracelet. from where you're from, you make them for people you care about, so they can have a piece of you with them every day. it's usually a tradition for children and teens, but you thought it would be fun to give him the bracelet regardless. you were just thinking about him (and his lonely childhood-- but you don't say that part aloud) and how he didn't really do stuff like this when he was young... so maybe he'd appreciate it now? you start to feel a little silly by the end of your explanation, so you look up at him to try to gauge his reaction.
you would have thought you proposed with how touched this man looked.
his expression softens and his eyes go wide. he puts out his hands to take the gift and you hand it over. his face quickly splits into a grin as he inspects each individual knot and string. did you really make this? he's impressed. look at how lovely it is! he raves about the quality for longer than necessary (it's not that good, mind you) as you flush from all the praise.
you offer to tie it for him and his eyes sparkle. truly, you never thought he'd enjoy a gift like this that much-- nonetheless, you're incredibly flattered.
how did you make this bracelet? what material is this? will you teach him how to make one, too? how often is he supposed to wear this?
the last question makes you chuckle. honestly, that's up to him. you tell him about that time you wore a friendship bracelet all summer one year, until it was a frayed biohazard that stank up the whole room. you recommend taking it off for showers and activities that might get it that dirty-- please, diavolo, learn from your childhood mistakes-- but other than that, he can wear it whenever he feels like. you assure him that your feelings won't get hurt if he doesn't, but he quickly reassures you that he definitely plans on wearing it.
... and he is not bluffing when he pledges this commitment to you. diavolo will wear his friendship bracelet all day every day, only taking it off when absolutely necessary. that does not include formal meetings or events. he is wearing that damn bracelet. what are they going to do, call him out? he's the fucking demon king (well, close enough).
Barbatos
you present barbatos with the bracelet one day when you've joined him for an afternoon in the kitchen.
he's carefully explaining how he gets the texture to this pastry just right-- there's a clear balance between airiness and moisture, you see-- while you try to listen. you can't help but let your mind wander as he talks. doesn't he know this friendship bracelet is practically burning a hole in your pocket?!
"mc, are you listening?"
he's looking up at you with expectant eyes, and you feel yourself flush in embarrassment. you barely get alone time with him as-is, and here you are, wasting it! you apologize and explain you've been a bit distracted. he welcomes you to share (if you are so inclined), pausing his work to give you his full attention.
it's now or never. you can either be brave, or you can walk back to the house of lamentation with your tail between your legs!
you present the butler with your creation-- a green and black friendship bracelet-- with a small explanation of what it is. you feel juvenile presenting an ancient demon such a childish gift, but he accepts your gift with a nod and a small smile. barbatos sets aside the gift for the rest of the day, careful that it won't get soiled by the mess of ingredients as he continues his baking lesson.
you assume barbatos has stored in somewhere out of sight-- you'd like to think he cares enough about your feelings to keep it, but you have also never seen him wear it. you're starting to feel like an idiot for even gifting him such a silly thing in the first place. he's arguably the second most powerful demon in the realm. he doesn't have time for a chintzy little bundle of strings from some insignificant human!
you're at the castle one day on another retreat with the rest of the house of lamentation residents. in a chaotic scuffle with one of his brothers, mammon manages to knock an open bottle of demonus directly into barbatos' chest. the butler sighs and begins to take off his coat while lucifer is moments away from tearing mammon into thirds.
as he opens his jacket, you spot it.
pinned inside the front of his jacket is, undoubtably, your bracelet. you recognize that striped pattern from a mile away. you can't forget the embarrassing amount of time you spent toiling away over cheap embroidery floss (not to mention the several mess-ups you had to throw out). you almost can't believe that's where he's been keeping it all this time.
barbatos catches you staring at the bracelet and gives you a small, secret smile. he leaves the jacket open for a moment longer-- it's like he knows, like he's letting you commit the image to memory-- before folding it neatly in his arms. he turns on his heel and walks back to his room before you can react further.
you're a little bummed to see him go. after all, that bracelet was probably ruined in all the liquid-y chaos from a few minutes ago. yet when he returns, adjusting his jacket one last time, you swear you see a flash of green and black string.
maybe it was just your imagination. and maybe that knowing look on his face was, too.
Simeon
you've found the clump of tangled embroidery floss in your closet among things you've brought from the human world. you aren't really sure how it got there, but you've got some free time to kill-- why not try to make one of those friendship bracelets you had growing up?
it starts out in your head as a stupid little joke. who among the people you know here would be the most accepting of a dumb little gift like this?
... simeon, probably. i mean, the guy's an angel. isn't being gracious and kind part of their whole schtick?
as you weave the threads together, you feel yourself get excited. simeon means a lot to you. he's been there any time you've needed him throughout the entire exchange program, always there to lend a hand or a listening ear whenever you so desire. you don't get to see him as much as you'd like, seeing as he lives all the way over at purgatory hall, but you feel you're close enough to give him such a gift.
you catch him after class at RAD one day. you don't have time run by purgatory hall after school, and you're worried if you wait much longer to give him the bracelet, you'll somehow lose or destroy it. when you approach, he's all smiles.
"mc? to what do i owe the honor?"
you ask if you can speak to him alone-- nobody misses the suggestively suspicious look solomon tosses the two of you-- and he leads you to a quite corner of the hallway.
suddenly, this whole thing feels very silly. but, at this point, you've already dragged him away from everyone, so you might as well go through with it.
you pull the blue and white friendship bracelet from the pocket of your uniform and offer it out to him. you explain that it's a friendship bracelet, something that human kids usually exchange as a show of friendship and devotion. you were in the mood to make one the other night and thought he might appreciate it. there. that didn't sound too cringe, right?
your gaze slowly lifts from your hands to find simeon in as disheveled of a state as you. his cheeks are flushed and his face is frozen as he processes your explanation. then a slow, delighted smile spreads over his cheeks.
out of everything to happen today, he definitely did not anticipate this happening. yet he couldn't be more pleased. he gives you his thanks as you tie the bracelet around his wrist-- over his gloves, so he can show it off to everyone, he tells you.
what did you say these were for? an expression of friendship? he's touched that you'd include him in an intimate human ritual like this (it's not that deep, but his smile makes you bite your tongue). would you be willing to stop by purgatory hall sometime soon so he can learn more about it? he loves any story you tell, after all.
you part ways with identical grins and a promise to meet again sometime soon. simeon assures you that he'll take care of the bracelet-- it's very special, you know, since you're the one that gave it to him.
and take care of it he does. every time you see him, he's wearing that bracelet. it looks nicer than the day you gave it to him! you're surprised, until satan reminds you simeon's always wearing white. clearly, he's good at keeping things clean.
he wears a big ass white cloak all day, every day. you think a little bracelet is going to trip him up? nah. simeon values your gift-- the gesture, the time you put into making him the bracelet, the skill it took to make such a pretty little thing-- too much to let an ounce of dirt sully his favorite present.
Solomon
hey, solomon. you want a friendship bracelet?
he looks up from his school work to eye you curiously. you two are on opposite sides of a table in one of RAD's many libraries. you're supposed to be studying, but you got bored fifteen minutes ago and haven't been productive since.
you pull a bundle of embroidery floss out of your pocket and spread it out on the table. a rainbow of colors sits mostly untangled-- you've been trying all day, but some knots are simply too stubborn-- across the smooth wood, and across the materials you should really be studying right now.
got a color preference, sorcerer boy, or am i going to have to give you the ugliest combination i can think of?
he laughs and tells you to do your worst. are you actually going to make one, though? how do you even remember how to do that? he admits he's never actually had one before. you tease him for being a lonely old man. he teases you right back for being a dweeb who wastes brain space on how to make gifts for third graders.
just for that comment, his bracelet's going to be ugly. and you won't even try to make it not lumpy, too. in your face, peepaw.
you get to work weaving the strings into a particular pattern of knots. you've chosen snot green and tree bark brown, paired nicely with a subtle hot pink for a more elegant look. slowly but surely, you start forming the stripes of the bracelet. you can feel his eyes on you, but for once, you decide not to tease him. you're feeling generous today, after all.
when you finish, you tie off the lose end and untape the other from the front of your textbook-- that's certainly the most useful its been to you all day-- with a victorious little smirk. he's still watching you work. you've succeeded in distracting him as well, congrats! it's what he deserves for dragging you into a half an hour argument between levi and asmo last week for no other reason than to see you struggle to keep the peace. karma's a bitch, and seeing this ugly ass bracelet across his wrist will be the cherry on top.
you instruct him to hold out his wrist and he complies. you start tying the ends together, careful not to permanently knot it around his wrist, when--
"wow, you actually made it for me. does that mean we're best friends now? i guess i'll have to brag to those brothers about it, won't i?"
you feel your life flash before your eyes. suddenly, you can hear it in your mind-- seven overlapping voices arguing, louder and louder, for you to make them a friendship bracelet as well. nothing will satiate their jealousy with each other. it's like entertaining a horde of toddlers: a gift to one is an insult to the rest.
oh. oh shit.
you're on your feet before you can speak. suddenly, maybe you don't want solomon to have that bracelet anymore. but he's always five steps ahead of you. literally, in this case, seeing as he's already taken off towards the other end of the library. oh hell no.
you manage to catch up to him eventually, and the afternoon devolves into you (playfully and consensually) bullying each other over the gift.
for all his big talk, he does actually wear the bracelet every day. you think that it's mostly to make you worry that one of the brothers might ask about it-- and that's definitely a big part of why he does it, seeing as he smirks every time he catches you looking at it-- but you think there must be a part of him that actually likes it, ugly color scheme and all.
it's solomon, remember? horrible chef, spellcaster to varying degrees of success, general menace to society. that bracelet is filthy in a matter of days. what's worse, though, is that he also has a terrible habit of breaking or losing it. this would be fine under normal circumstances. no harm, no foul, right? but every three to four business days, whenever he breaks it or covers it in mud or loses it somewhere in the hallway, he's up your ass for you to make him a new one.
what can he say? you're besties, aren't you? that's why you made the bracelet in the first place. now chop chop, mc, his wrist feels naked.
Luke
you visit purgatory hall after school one day, a pep in your step and a bright smile on your face. a few of the brothers question your giddiness as you head out (mammon especially didn't like that you wouldn't elaborate where you were going or who you were seeing), but you make it to your destination unscathed and unfollowed.
when you walk in-- you've had an open invite to visit whenever since the early days of the exchange program-- you spot luke baking in the kitchen. he calls out to you from his spot near the oven and invites you to try this cake he's been working on. barbatos taught him the recipe last week, and ever since, he's been working hard to perfect his version of the dish.
you spend a few minutes playing taste tester for the little angel before you get his attention. you've got a gift for him. the anticipation is starting to kill you, so you'd like to get it out of your hands.
you open your palms and reveal your present: a white and gold friendship bracelet. you explain that it's usually a gift kids in the human realm give each other.
... probably the wrong wording, considering who you're giving the gift to.
"is this because you think i'm a child? now you sound like lucifer! listen here, i'll have you know i report directly to archangel michael, who--"
you let him continue his little rant until he gets it all out of his system. when he's done, looking at you expectantly for some sort of rebuttal, you grin and explain the real reason for your gift. you think of luke as a close friend, and you wanted to give him a gift familiar to your culture that communicates that with the world.
an embarrassed flush spreads over his cheeks as the cherub realizes he might have jumped to conclusions. he sheepishly smiles at you and asks you to tell him more.
you tie the bracelet onto his wrist and explain all your favorite childhood memories with gifts like these. every friendship bracelet, each matching necklace you got with a childhood friend, all of those little mementos of friendships past still sit in a box in your closet. you might outgrow wearing a yarn bracelet (or it might have grown filthy over the years with all your sticky-fingered adventures), but you'll never outgrow the memories behind them.
luke asks if he can see them some day. will you tell him more stories if he visits you at the house of lamentation? you smile and agree-- so long as he doesn't get gobbled up on the way there. now he's protesting again. he's not a child! (whatever you say, luke).
by the end of the evening, you've explained the knotting patterns you used to make the bracelet. luke tells you to watch out-- he's gonna make you such an amazing bracelet, just you wait! you grin, already excited to show off his little creation.

sorry if this seems a bit out of the blue, but ever since youve been posting about fallen london, im a bit curious about it! What is the game about and where can I get it?
oh no worries! I'm happy to ramble about it
fallen london is a free to play browser game you can find here. the basic premise is that sometime in the 1800's the entire city of london is engulfed in a swarm of bats and then falls through the earth into a cavern a mile below. this is the neath, a huge underground cavern where london sits on the shore of a vast ocean. queen victoria is still around locked in her palace being a typical shitty british monarch, who, amongst other things, decided that 1900 was cancelled and we were just going to have 1899 for a second time
things are a little...different down there. humans are far from the only ones running around. there's devils, rubbery men (think mind flayer vibes), clay men, and the shadowy cloaked figures running the bazaar (and the city) called the masters. death mostly isn't permanent and the dream world is a little too real. also, most importantly, cats can talk! and there are tons of them! and tigers too
it's got victorian, gothic horror, dark humor, lovecraftian vibes. also it's extremely queer as is everything the dev, failbetter games, makes. something I especially appreciate is that you don't have to give your character any particular gender (though you can) and some of the little avatars are very gender neutral:
Tumblr media
since it's free to play it comes with the normal things that type of game has such as real money transactions (completely optional and unnecessary for enjoyment (though some of the bonus side stories you can buy are extremely cool)), limited number of actions you can take (max of 20 at a time and refills 1 per 10 minutes). it is definitely grindy too though there's so many things to do (cannot emphasize the insane amount of content enough) I will usually just switch things up every so often
it's single player for the most part but you can ask friends to assist you in certain actions and there are some specific items that can be sent to other players
(if you like the setting but not the free to play part you can check out mask of the rose which is a visual novel they just released set right after london fell. it's a romance but with full aro and ace options (which I actually preferred) and a murder mystery. that one is a normal just buy the whole game deal and I think it's on most platforms. there's also sunless seas and sunless skies which take place in the same world but are a very different type of game and would require their own post. all of these have great writing in them)
but back to fallen london. it works based off of 'storylets', or little short stories when you usually do a skill check to accomplish something in return for advancing the story, levelling your skills, and reward items. you unlock more and more things as you go and get access to new stories and areas. here's an example of one of the little activities and its resolution
Tumblr media Tumblr media
since it's a game designed to be able to play endlessly there isn't really a way to lose or game over. you can die but dying is just a minigame of its own and sometimes even a thing to do purposefully. (the only actual way to die is the notorious story called seeking mr eaten's name which you may have seen me post about, which is a very unique story that will permanently erase your character at the end. why you'd ever want to do that would also be its own post. it's pretty hard to stumble on accidentally I think and extremely well-marked as a thing with severe consequences that you probably shouldn't do. or should you...)
anyway I'd definitely recommend giving fallen london a try if you're interested in the premise and aesthetic

Ranpo,Chuuya,Atsushi x M!Reader
My hand slipped while I was doing math homework and i accidentally wrote this. This is my first time writing for a male reader I'm sure I'll be fine (this is going to be worse than my math grades)
Warnings: mentions of alcohol, mentions of bruising, death implications, might be a lil ooc I haven't watched bsd in a hot minute
Tumblr media
Oh? You have sweets? Are able to bake?? What's that, you're able to spoil him? Yea, he's imagining how to rizz you up before you two were ever dating. "Y/n thinks you're cool" "really?" He lights up at the mention of you "he does think you're kinda werid tho" he pouts disapointedly, will be whining about this
You're like another piece of candy! You're not escaping him. You thought you were allowed to leave? No. "Y/n we need you on this" "alright" "I should go too" he raises his hand popping another candy into his mouth "he can solve this himself" "well I can make it so they're right back here in secounds" "whenever I go out with you the minimums like 3 hours" you cringe remembering the holes he digs into your wallet. "That's irrelevant!"
If you ever did manage a task alone, he'd be annoyed for the rest of the day, so annoyed he actually opens his eyes to glare at people. "30 minutes" "would have been a few secounds if you took me with you" you sigh kissing his forehead "I'm sorry I didn't bring you it would have been too boring for a great detective like you" he proudly huffs "well it would have been fine since it would be with you" will make you tell him how it went and it'll always end with him saying "I knew it! This is why you should bring me"
He does get hurt sometimes, but when he does, it's just a small scab at most. Never the less you still treat him. "Don't give me the teddy bear ones those are for babies!" "They fit you're aesthetic, though." "they do not!" Applying the bandage carefully, you watch him lift his pant leg higher to reveal another small bruise. "Are you serious?" "Well were already here" does like looking at your handiwork from time to time.
Wants you to stay up and tell him stories and is pretty understanding when you say you're too tired to. "Y/n! Are you up to read 12 angry men?" "Ranpo I'm heading straight to bed" you rub your eyes sluggishly, walking past him to change out of your clothes to something more comfortable. "Alright, but you owe me more pages than usual" "deal" he plops onto you as you cover yourself with the blanket. He doesn't even attempt to gain spoilers or read ahead if this happens. He really likes hearing your voice, trying to act out certain characters. He might even ask questions he knew the answer to just to hear more of you. "Wait, so why'd he agree?" "Because that guy's thinking about his son throughout the conversion by putting his past with his son behind him he accepts the fact the kid on trial isn't his son and shouldn't be found guilty" "he should've just agreed when everything else got debunked" "yea well sometimes stuff like that holds someone back"
Tumblr media
"Do you like wine?" "No" "?!" How did you guys even date? Wait nevermind besides that wine thing, you're pretty great 10/10, not returning
He would use his ability to quite litterally sweep you off your feet. Feeling the sudden decrease in weight, you feel as if you're floating on air. "What the-" he casually grabs something out the fridge "that's the last one" "that's why I stopped you" sometimes he'd just leave you floating for an extra 5 secounds, gracefully hold your hands and and help you down. "Can't have you bursting your head open" "I was two feet off the ground" he sighs, you pull him close kissing his cheek "thank you for saving my fall Chuuya" and that's why he does it often
He does get a bit cranky, but it's usually when he has a bad day. He likes bad days if you're at the end of them, though. You'd always let him sleep somewhere or stay up and watch you try to open wine for him and fail or succeed. "Finally!!" You popped open the bottle with the Cork flying out. "Wait, where'd it go-" hearing a small thud, you see the cork crack the floor due to its sudden change of what seems to be weight. "There's a tool for that." he pulls out the drawer and shows you it nonchalantly, "but that was kinda impressive"
"I wanna get a dog" "we should get married." The guy would be on the brink of tears. A dog? And you two are living together? He's gonna love that dog. Unfortunately, that dog mostly followed you around. It likes him, but the millisecond you're there that dog lays with you, sleeps with you, he's starting to get jealous of both you and the dog! You still catch him petting it going. "You're so fluffy! Who's a good boy who's a good-" the dog sees you and walks toward you it's tail wagging .How are you fluffy?" There'd be such a defeated look on his face
Definitely would be judgemental and then do some strange shit. You'd catch him dancing in the halls? Nothing to see here, only him getting slightly upset you didn't say anything. Pulling out every product known to man to bathe the dog, it's pretty adorable. You still don't say a thing, only smiling when you see it, still a bit annoyed you didn't say anything As soon as he catches you posing with his clothes...he's flattered time to make fun of you. "What are you doing" you turn around smoothly "Why I'm Chuuya Nakahara of the port mafia" you moon walk over to him "that is not how I introduce myself" "yea you introduce yourself by trying to show off your taste in wine to someone that hates it" "you worked at a liquor store!" "I dont have to drink wine to work there" you take off his coat to put it back, but he quickly slides it back on "keep it on for a while I wanna savor this"
Tumblr media
You taught him what a flash game is. "OK so then this guy wants uhhh" "oh my god its Wally" "WHERE" unironcally so emerged in papa's games its aggressively odvious you two aren't working, you're are lucky you specialize in speedrunning paper work the secound half of the work days basically just you two getting bullied by the food critic
He's pretty shy for a lover infact when you start dating, he still feels like a friend more than a boyfriend. So when you ask him out, expect him to hide away somewhere nervous he might say something werid, he'll suck it up for you though! He's got this! It's just a museum! He can- you held his hand, and his confidence is down the drain. How he managed to keep composed is a miracle. Surprisingly for him, he didn't do anything he'd think would embarrass him in the future. He's definitely gonna ask to go on more dates in the future.
You try to help him with tiger matenence. Including getting loads of dirt out of his paws and even splinters sometimes "Alright ready" "I never will be for AH-" he winces pulling away, but you hold out his arm "you're fine lemme put on a bandaid" they do feel nice after you clean then though a bit numb
Attempting to teach him games will get him to teach Kyōka. "Y/n would you like to play quack diddly oso ?" "You know how to play that? I thought it was too old" "Atsushi taught me" you decide to ask him about it. He would get a bit embrassed, his mind racing about what you'd do or say. "Maybe I should try and teach her numbers too" he sighs in relief leaving you a bit confused but you infact did teach her numbers, a horrible day for Ranpo in particular as she and you easily beat your record of 57 with him. You didn't need her approval for dating Atsushi, but you still got it because of some children's games
You wouldn't be surprised by how mushy he could get. He'd overthink about the dangers you two face being apart of the Ada. He'd get trembaly grabbing onto your hands for their warmth. "I'll be fine. I'm more worried for you" "But what if you get hurt cause of me!" "I gladly will" "That's the issue!" He grabs your shoulders."What if you-" "Then yosano will take care of me" You pull him close, letting him calm down. "You're hopeless." "I won't regret a thing"

how to get a grip and write soap non cringeworthy (by a glaswegian lass)
Tumblr media
this may or may not be half a rant. but. okay. okay. i made a post like this before, but i kinda wanted to detail it a little more as i've seen posts like these popping up, but made by english people.
so i'm gonna make one about being scottish for non scots and how to more accurately portray soap as scottish. this is probably mostly aimed at people from tiktok, so feel free to share it around. this is also educational as well as light-hearted and is meant to be taken as such, don't get offended or just be fr
1.) okay, i'm gonna start off by saying... some of these unintentional(or intentional) stereotypes are fucking mind blowing. i'm not one to necessarily get offended by things like this, but i think it's worth mentioning. not all of us play bagpipes, or run around wearing kilts... or - for the love of god - RUN AROUND SCREAMING "SCOTLAND FOREVER." honestly..... it's so odd? i know you would be heavily offended if i called you a fat american, but really what's the difference?
(also the scotland forever is so cringe. i've never in my entire life heard anyone from this country say that)
2.) since i don't think there's any canon of where soap was specifically brought up in scotland(city-wise), i'll have to go off accents and his voice actor for this point. which is alright with me, because scottish accents can be very easily identified.
a lot like the english, scottish people can have MANY varying accents, and a lot of varying phrases. for example, someone down in ayrshire might say "i ken" instead of "i know" whereas people from glasgow usually wouldn't. you catch me?
...now, soap. soap would not go around saying certain phrases. from what i hear, he sounds glaswegian/edinburgh, which is east/west of scotland. the tiniest... TINIEST... bit of research will unveil a plethora of things that people from there would actually say.
aye/yes, naw/no, cannae/cant, could'nae/couldn't, fizzy drink/soda, how/why(this one is weird)..... that's an extremely small portion but you get the point. the scots talk EXTREMELY different than americans do, we have new words for almost everything.
and, before i lose my mind, PLEASE STOP HAVING SOAP REFER TO HIS MOTHER AS MOM. thank you.
3.) the general cringe. i've literally seen people say he would refer to himself as a big scotty boy. no one in scottish history has ever referred to themselves as that unironically. ever. again, circling back to the similarities between the english and scottish, we both have very sarcastic/edgy/cynical humour. ours won't be the same as the americans. our definition of sarcasm differs from yours. headcanons are fine, sometimes, but it's so out of character most of the time if you aren't from the country. bro would NOT spend his free time listening to lana del rey but don't let that stop you from saying he would LMAO
4.) we don't call ourselves british. i mean, some of us do(if yer a bastartin tory x), but most of us will literally get offended if you call us british. we'd all just much rather call ourselves scottish. don't ask me why.
5.) also! please educate yourself on how to properly use scottish slang. the amount of things that just genuinely do not make sense is appalling. it takes two seconds. also my dms are always open... feel free to ask a literal glaswegian lass. context also matters. if you don't know what you mean, just shut the fuck up x
6.) ...he wouldn't be a tory. none of them would be fucking tories. none of them would be sad about the queen. i know americans can't comprehend we don't actually worship the queen in britain, but considering they all probably grew up in some form of poverty or just a bad household, they just wouldn't be tories. or they literally wouldn't care.
7.) props to codie for this point. circling back to the stereotypes, i think it's MENTAL to see what you guys think are "funny" and "relatable" when really, you're absolutely perpetrating harmful scottish stereotypes. ha ha you are so funny when you make jokes about soap being really aggressive and a "gremlin" and an alcoholic and ahahha scotland forever and ahahahha he has bagpipes as his alarm clock... sorry but it's really not as funny as you think it is. like, there's a line and a lot of the time all you cunts online love crossing it with your poorly written headcanons and tiktok videos. i think a lot of you deserve to be told that it's not okay. i know you would all cry if we done the same and also it's just kinda embarrassing
8.) learn our culture but don't forget theres so much more to it. this isn't even primarily about scotland culture but more so british culture as a whole. it's completely different from any other culture and it's also not super hard to do your research. kinda hard to explain if you're not part of it but yk what i mean. sometimes it's obvious to me that you guys don't care to educate yourself and don't care to understand different cultures but i appreciate those that do lol
9.) where soap is from, he wouldn't speak gaelic either. i'm sorry, he just wouldn't. not really a thing in big cities. it's scots he would speak, and there's a difference. don't say they're the same things or you """prefer""" to call gaelic scots. yes someone actually said that LMFAOO. scottish gaelic isn't just saying aye and naw either. jesus fuckign christ x if you don't understand the difference or what you're even saying then just don't say anything LMAO
that's all for now. i'll probably randomly think of other stuff to add, but for now it's currently 5am and i cba. sorry if theres mistakes/typos, again, cba x
also if u get offended u need to get a grip and this is obvs aimed at u. ok have a good day pookie bears xx
(i promise i don't have a problem with americans but it's funny how it's always you guys)

OKokok I love your writing and I've had this idea boiling in my brain for like a week and I need to share it
Any character you want, with an s/o who's the host to some super powerful entity, and has to sacrifice themselves (or at least their ownership of the body) to it in order to win a fight and protect them(character of choice)? I've been imagining a scene where s/o is holding their injured lover as hell seems to rain down around them, and tearfully, they realize what they have to do if they want to make sure at least one of them gets out alive. S/o kisses them one last time, hands them off to someone, and steps back to wave a final goodbye while they relinquish control and launch into the fray. Maybe afterward, the entity now in place of s/o tries to offer some words of comfort? I love angst and I thought you might like this idea!
Thank you so much and have a wonderful day!
Only A Vessel
{Sun Wukong x GNReader}
Tumblr media
When you told him that you were a vessel for a higher being, the fears started to creep in his mind
He didn't say it out loud, no, but sometimes he couldn't even sleep at night, fearing that the higher being would take control of you for good
Whenever he couldnt sleep because of this, you would be waken up by a certain monkey tapping your bedroom window, silently asking permission inside
"Wukong! What are you doing here!?"
"Just wanted to see your face peaches..." he would say, already falling on your bed face first, tugging you down with him
Instead of the usual sleepy banter you two had whenever he stayed the night, he was completely silent. Just hanging you from behind, not wanting to let go
That why when the whole gang was fighting a demon and you had this look on your face, his blood went cold
Even though he was immortal, fighting for long periods of time can tire him out, thats why he needed to lean on you to not fall
So when he saw that look on your face, he tried standing up taller and grabbed your shoulder
"Peaches, whatever your thinking about doing, don't do it."
It didn't sound like a command like he had meant it to, it sound more like he was begging
Instead of answering him, you only gave him a soft smile and gently pushed him onto Mk, making Mk having to help his mentor stand
"Peaches, don't. Don't, please....Y/n please!"
He absolutely hated how Mk was able to hold him back from grabbing you as let the higher being take control.
After the higher being defeated the demon Wukong and the others weren't able to defeat, Mk let Wukong sink to the ground
He was just staring at you...no, not you...your body
That wasn't you anymore.
That wasn't his peaches...his Y/n...
The higher being in your body walked over to him, tried to comfort him, but all he could do was stare at them, utterly defeated.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry if this is bad, I really liked the idea but I really do suck at angst, but I tried my best.

Kazuha x reader
A/N: This is my first post so I hope I did it well. I'm on a writing frenzy since exams are tomorrow, and I want to keep my mind away from it. Bwahahahaha!
Synopsis: Selfless and reckless, what a horrible combination. Although you wish he'd cherish himself a little more. (Patching him up after a difficult battle)
●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●◇●
The moon shone overhead, its gentle light an extra support to the flickering flames of the camp fire. The air around the two people in the wilderness remain silent, with one lost within his rampant thoughts, and the other busy tending to the man's wounds.
He looks downcast, you observe. After being ambushed by a horde of monsters and fighting against a number of ruin drakes, you make it out alive but not unscathed. Still, ever since then, Kazuha barely spoke which is quite unlike him. Despite suffering injuries in the past, his first course of action was always to ascertain his travelling companion's safety, but now...
You wordlessly apply ointment to the scratches and light wounds on his back before placing small plasters on it. Carefully, a cloth is wrapped around his arms first before making it's way towards his torso.
"I apologize," Kazuha's soft voice sounds out, "I was irresponsible and careless with my actions, so you ended up getting hurt. Even though you were also injured, you've been looking after me. I'm very sorry."
Your hands continue to wrap the bandage around him, acting as if he never said a word at all. He seemed to interpret that as a sign of displeasure, so he promptly turns his head away from you, preferring to gaze up at the stars instead.
Quickly tying up the last knot, you let out an audible sigh. You reach out a hand for the silver haired man's shoulder.
"I'm not mad, nor am I blaming you for what happened today. It was an accident, and everyone messes up sometimes.", you reassure as he turns his head to face you, but still refusing to meet your gaze directly
"As you can see, I'm breathing. And besides, I was also there so you shouldn't be the only one carrying responsibility for what happened"
"But-"
"You were also hurt, so I should also be saying sorry for not being careful enough. I should've been more attentive in supporting your back."
Kazuha's eyes are fixed on the ground. His next words almost self-loathing, a bit out of character from the calm and self-assured person he usually presents himself as to others.
"You're hurt because I wasn't careful. Even with all my skills, I still let you get hurt. I should be someone more reliable and-"
You interrupt his words with a hug. Any more and you're certain he would continue to find more things to criticize himself about. Gently, you pat his back, paying extra attention as to not jostle the wounds you bandaged earlier.
In the time you two have been travelling together, you've learned a great deal about the enigma that is Kaedehara Kazuha. One of them being that his gentle soul hides a great deal of past grievances. He's open to an extent, but is careful enough that his defenses don't falter easily. His past must weigh a lot for him to keep his heart out of reach. In that regard, you've chosen to believe it better not to reopen an old scar.
"You are a reliable and capable person. With you around, I can be at ease no matter where I go,", you emphasize with a subtle tightening of your hug, "That's why, I'd ask that you don't think so lowly of yourself. It might seem like the most obvious thing in the world, but please cherish yourself!"
"Please be kind and patient to yourself, just as you are to others. You have many people wishing for your happiness, so consider yourself a bit more. There's also your friends from all over Teyvat, and me, so relax because we'll be here if you ever need help"
You continue to pat his back even after releasing him from the hug. He doesn't say anything more afterwards, but you sense a change in his mood - it seems a bit lighter now.
Your words may not be enough to fully remove the doubts in himself, but you pray to the gods that it would alleviate his burdens, even if just the smallest bit.
◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇○◇
A/N: Was there too much dialogue? I'm new to this so feedback would be appreciated. I also didn't know how to end it, but hopefully it doesn't sound too rushed. Thank you for reading!! <33

Hiii I don't know if you would write it (it's okay if you don't) but to change the tone a bit, could you do a list of toxic traits/red flags of the troupes members? I saw it in another fandom and thought it would be interesting! love your stuff btw
Thank you for waiting love!! 💕 That said, hope you are still around aksdjkdn it's been a while.
I wasn’t sure if you meant in a relationship or just in general, so I went with the flow a bit and did whatever felt more suitable for each at the time (hence why some are longer)
Warning: I focused on showing bad traits and exploiting them so my apologies if any fan doesn’t like what I chose, don’t take it too much to heart!
A3! and their toxic traits
Sakuya – Conflict avoidance / Insecure
He struggles to voice what he wants because he’s afraid of upsetting others, this leads to Sakuya never deciding anything which can become kinda... vexing.
Of course, when there’s a fight he just doesn't wants to argue, and definitely avoids discussing certain topics. Not to say he’ll just apologize, but he will often try to find a solution (even if it doesn’t make much sense) to pretend it’s all good and everyone is content when in reality, no ones is.
Itaru – Childish / Half-assed
Has a tendency to talk about people behind their back when they do something that upsets him, instead of talking it out.
Sometimes going out with him feels like babysitting. He tends to complain if he’s in a place he didn’t want to be. It’s his day off and you two already saw one another three days ago, couldn’t he just have stayed at home?
Incredibly bad memory when it comes to remembering special occasions but try asking him when is the birthday of his favorite character… or maybe don’t.
Masumi – Overly intense / Tunnel focus
This boy’s downfall are relationships. Masumi has incredibly intense feelings – that’s no surprise, so when he finally falls the beginning is perfect, almost fairytale like.
But then he asks opinions about choosing a wedding venue. Asks about a having kids. When going to the store he even begins to look for baby clothes. First week gone and he’ll want to meet with in-laws. Want to move in together.
He loves so much that it’s overbearing and doesn’t realize how pressuring he is – how fast he’s willing to move everything. Still, what’s there to think? Their partner must want the same thing.
Chikage – Righteous / Emotionally Distant
Being with him, whether it’s in a romantic relationship or friendship, is emotionally draining.
While people pour everything they have into their relationships, Chikage, aside from the people from Mankai, won't even be half as invested. And all the time, patience, and effort that should've come from both parties is off unbalance which ofc turns into an eventual distance.
IF he’s ever confronted about it he sighs, because as expected, it now has become a tiring task for him. People know he’s usually like this. Why getting angry or bothered by his persona? It’s not like he was lying or anything to anyone.
Tsuzuru – Workaholic/ Untrustworthy
I think at first his relationships would be great. Tsuzuru does try to make time for friends/partners/family after all.
But sooner than later, he’s again cramped up with scriptwriting, uni, work... you name it.  People notice the pressure he’s under, so he’s usually proposed to take a break, to go with someone somewhere, but he just doesn’t listen.
He will be apologetic “I’m so sorry, I have to complete this before the end of... “I forgot we were…” “I’ll make it up to you next time!” and it’s understandable, but he’s always like this.
If anyone insist too much, he might get irritated and snap, and if the person snaps back or leave he does realize how badly he messed up… but half the time, he won’t make a move. He’ll tell himself to talk it later.
Citron – Toxic Positivity / Overthinker
King of no one can be mad if we don’t focus on the issue? A little bit tactless given the situation as well.
And god bless him but while he takes notice if anyone is not feeling well, partner or not, he decides to be absolutely oblivious to their bad moods. If they want to talk about it he doesn’t get it either. Why is everyone upset about it, at least it’s over now!
Doesn’t like taking responsibility for his actions, making excuses to justify his behavior.
Tenma – Accusatory / Invasive
Always has something to say, no matter the argument – even if he's clearly the one in the wrong. Instead of working it out rationally, he shifts the blame away and pins it on the other person, guilt-tripping into thinking he's the one compromised.
If others were indeed wrong however, prepare for a non-stop nagging for days to come. If driven by his ego, this will escalate and in eeeevery conflict, this will be brought up.
In a relationship Tenma thinks he has the right to intervene in his partner’s personal affairs, meaning if they have something going on or someone they have a problem with, he’s going to lash out even if he was asked to leave it alone. What-? Why are you mad? You should be thanking him!
Muku – Pessimist / Passive
He want to know everything about everyone and in a relationship, his partner is always free to tell him about their problems… but that’s when troubles begin.
Overly sensitive, and when stresses he’s the type to blame himself in any situation which makes dealing with him kind of exhausting after a while.
That said, despite his kind self, Muku is overly passive in his communication. He often avoids direct confrontation, leading to unresolved issues which given his pessimistic nature as well have him tensed all the time awaiting when his actions might turn against him.
Since it really always his fault, you don’t have to remind him.
Misumi – Uncommunicative / Dismissive
Misumi, as many here, has a tendency to avoid confrontation and suppress his emotions, leading to communication barriers and unresolved issues in any type of relationship.
As it goes, this lack of communication prevents any relationship from progressing and resolving underlying issues, creating a stiff dynamic... at least from other people's view, since Misumi likes to get over things quickly and expects everyone to do the same. A little bit tactless in that sense.
This includes having a hard time taking the blame. He wants it to be on everyone. Even if it’s his fault, the closest anyone’s ever going to get is something like Mmm we all said and did things we shouldn’t, right? let’s try to move on!
Kumon – Overwhelming / Unattentive
He doesn’t even know he usually speaks over or interrupts others but definitely knows he has the need to protect their partner.
He’s so deluded into thinking he’s doing a good thing by pulling their partner away from the slightest danger. Sidewalk is too crowded? He’ll insist to walk on the busy road. Too hot today? Maybe it’s better to stay inside. He pulls everyone away every time he thinks they are close to getting hurt. At first it’s nice, but does become suffocating.
And if it's his partner tells him they don’t need his help, he’ll laugh before assisting anyway.
In general relations sometimes he will not stop even if you can’t keep up with him if he’s too excited. He’s just go go go all the time.
Kazunari – Liar / Dependant
On one hand Kazunari knows he can be completely honest with his partner, but he can’t differentiate between being honest in a way that supports a healthy relationship without… sometimes being honest in a way where he says something to hurt their feelings. So yeah, he sometimes lies.
He also involuntarily crosses boundaries (no consent in certain lives, photos uploaded…) and suffocates with constant attention. He struggles with trust issues too, constantly seeking validation from his partner or others to alleviate his insecurities.
This behavior in the end becomes draining if he’s in a relationship, as his partner feels trapped and unable to maintain their independence.
Yuki – Non-existent filter / Accusatory
During intense moments of blinding anger, Yuki jabs out everything he thinks without ever sugarcoating it, and there really isn't much to stop that.
Also maybe because while logical most of the time, he’s a bit short-tempered in certain situations (especially when stressed), so if provoked or at least he feels recriminated, he'll say some really hurtful things, insecurities that people took time to open up to with him.
If something goes wrong and he’s not in the fault he’s quick to complain as well. He already knew what was going to happen, so why did everyone insist on doing it? And why would anyone think he will sympathise afterwards?
Banri – Expectations / Charge
Wants to be in charge of everything. Prone to micromanaging their partner while stubbornly refusing to ask for help even if it’s obvious,
He has so much going on that if anyone crosses him, romantic relationship or not, Banri will play with the “I will leave if you want”. Because he would leave and he wouldn’t even feel regretful.
Because of his good memory and capacities, he tends to wait for people to catch things quickly. He didn’t bring coffee to class and expects people to know that he drank it on the way because morning rehearsal was rough. He didn’t answer anyone’s text so he expected everyone to know that needs revision – to him, that stuff is easy. What? No one knew? He always does similar details for everyone – he shouldn’t have to say it out loud every time.
Specially his partner. They should know what he’s thinking in these moments. If they don’t, maybe they didn’t love him as much as they said.
Taichi – Jealous / Low self-esteem
This boy lacks confidence in himself and the relationship no matter the type.
Catches himself thinking how everyone is much better than him – and in a relationship he’s scared his partner would leave him for anyone. Makes sense. They are perfect and kind, he’s just... him.
Of course he would want to be with their partner all the time, very clingy and overly emotional when arguing with him or when they tell him off. Might have taken a look or two at his partner's notifications of messages. He felt bad after though, he promises!
Juza – Self-esteem / Walls
Usually clueless about what he’s doing wrong and can’t seem to know how much effort to put into a new relationship, romantic or not. It could be days of not talking with him or him not answering just because he didn’t know if it would feel abrasive.
So yeah, I wouldn’t say he’s blinded by his anxieties and worries but then again, it’s not like he’ll ever talk about it with anyone either.
In a relationship, Juza wouldn’t think they love him enough to stay if he reveals all his insecurities. In his eyes, his partner will leave him one day, he knows it. They are too good for someone like him.
Sakyo –  Rigid / Controlling
Exceedingly strict but only when it’s related to him. Like, he doesn’t pick up the phone during work time because that wouldn’t be professional of him, yet when he’s with others? He continues mentioning work-related stuff or leaves to take calls.
There’s also certain controlling behavior in his romantic relationships. While he may initially come across as caring and devoted, his need for control becomes evident as the relationship progresses, leading to feelings of suffocation and resentment.
When in a fight, Sakyo is rough with his words and has to have the last word no matter what. His anger also lasts for days and the silent treatment is a huge thing. Will act like nothing has happened after that.
Omi -  Low esteem / Unwillingness to commit
This man's steps on eggshells with relationships, romantic or not. Omi is terrified to let anyone in and see their eyes judging.
In a relationship he’s too scared to show how much he loves his partner and honestly that very own cautiousness, that unwillingness to fall, hurts more than he realizes.
Omi is also someone who never expresses complicated feelings, either. He might just need time, but never asks for any.
People are left feeling like they might only be in the relationship because he doesn’t want to hurt their feelings. When asked he hesitates, which hurts the most. He can’t seem to understand he needs to let himself go. This happens again and again because in the end, Omi decides that it’s best to not fall at all – he doesn’t need another scar.
Azami – Extreme / Overly guarded
Azami is prude but as he grows, he becomes not so… accepting.
He scoffs wherever he sees something he doesn’t approve, and if in a relationship their partner wants to hold his hand, he’ll rip it away and lecture them angrily about how it might look to others. You should know by now.
As such, he tends to be emotionally distant and closed-off in all relationships. He struggles and often avoids discussing his feelings or concerns.
This emotional guardedness creates insecurity in the relationships, as many feel like they are unable to connect with him on a deeper level. His reluctance to open up leads to communication misunderstandings as well.
Their partner or friends must not love him, that’s the only reason he can think of – but he won’t show his fear of that possibility.
Tsumugi – Distracted / People pleaser
This young man doesn’t make it on purpose, which is all the way down frustrating.
He will have periods of time where he’s attentive to everyone, and in a relationship his partner is his number one priority.
Others becomes overly focused on his own pursuits, leaving little time or energy for nurturing any type of relationship. When he notices, he becomes again hyper attentive, doing anything for the relationship to not deteriorate.
But since additionally Tsumugi struggles to communicate effectively about his emotions and decisions, this leads to more distance to grow.
Hisoka – Ghosting / Short-tempered
Honestly he doesn’t look into the care and delicacy relationships take. Doesn’t answer messages nor call and if he does it’s quick and short.
He’s sparse with his attention. No, he doesn’t want to go out, partner, friend, or whatever should stop asking. Also it’s becoming annoying. When in a fight, if he finds it’s not important, it will always seem like he doesn’t care about anything.
Hisoka won’t compromise either, he won’t be more attentive, he doesn’t want to be, that’s too much work. And if they try to force it? Then people just don’t get him and probably just want to change him.
People unwllingness to accept and understand who he is only proves to him that this specific relationship whatever people what to call it, wasn’t meant to be, so he shrugs it off.
Azuma – Façade / Bottling emotions
No matter what, he refuses to share information about himself and can’t keep everything equal, whether you are a friend or his partner.
If there’s a feeling like something is off, and anyone mentions it rather than admitting what’s on his mind he’ll simply say that it’s fine, that all is good and perfect, and then proceed to bury it even deeper within him.
Azuma keeps burying his feelings in and trying not to resent whatever is causing him like this more and more until one day something happens and his emotions erupt out of him and he’s crying or worse, leaves for some time.
If anyone wants to know where he’s been, well, good luck trying to figure it out.
Tasuku – Rough / Absent-minded
Prioritizes his own needs and desires above others, resulting in selfish and insensitive behavior. I can’t imagine Tasuku changing his routine to fit someone else in, lover or not.
To him it’s pretty straightforward If someone doesn’t fall into sync with him, that’s life and this relationship just wasn’t meant to be. What? Why should he change the time he goes to the gym – shouldn’t his partner just get up earlier if they want to eat breakfast with him?
Or with his friends, sure he gets along, but why should he alter the way his life is, and try to finish rehearsal earlier? He doesn’t get the reason to change and tends to avoid fighting, not just because of cutting contact, but because he doesn’t want to fight with anyone... he doesn’t have time for whatever it is.
Homare – Overly worried / Opinionated
By now everyone should know that he will not give you much space when there’s a problem. He will constantly be asking questions about it and little time does he tries to listen to all versions or if he even should intervene.
And holy molly does he intervene often enough.
Also Homare doesn't get mad almost never, but becomes incredibly distressed when something goes wrong.
He won't say anything when he's feeling like that though. It's hard for him to control his emotions during a difficult time period and usually needs to be comforted to calm down but becomes so difficult when it’s time to allow people into the real him.
Guy – Distant / Trust
If this man ever has any type of problem, most people, partner included, will never know.
It’s not that he’s actively trying to keep things away, but he has no way of knowing that he should be sharing certain things.
Everyone is held at arm’s length. His partner might think being his partner would make them close, but it always feels like he confides in his troupe more than them.
Guy doesn’t have a good example of what a healthy relationship is supposed to look like, so don’t expect him to do anything romantic unless anyone tells him so. He also doesn’t have a filter, meaning he’s brutally honest. No one should be surprised if he hurts feelings in his monotonous voice.

Hope you all enjoyed it, definitely interesting to think of them in these terms.
Have a wonderful day! 💕💕

Honestly, maybe if you were forthright on how the story gonna be like, then the anon(s) wouldn't be so mad. There where a bunch of asks about whether the MC would be competent but instead of giving a straight answer you went about what this story is and isn't without actually answering the questions. Sometimes you make it seem the mC is only relevant because the other characters love the MC, and that's the only merit the MC has. And instead of confirming witch it is, you keep talking about power fantasy like wanting the mc to have qualities other than love interest/siblingtTM is wish fulfillment.
I've scrolled down the whole blog, and don'tknow wha
I know you're probably saying this kindly, but I'm probably going to answer slightly more emotionally than usual. Since you scrolled down the whole blog, you should have a seen idea the kinds of asks I've been answer to and why I might colour my words the way I have been.
But before I do that, I would politely ask you to never try to justify a certain anon's anger or behavior towards me by saying I should do this or that- I'm not here to placate people. I am here to write and produce a story and game. I don't care if people agree with what I say or not, and honestly I don't care if people get angry, but lashing out in anger in THIS fashion is completely unacceptable.
Tumblr media
I believe I have been forthright and I already give away more information about the story and plotline than I really should to temper audience expectations.
I zero in on the 'power fantasy' and 'wish fulfilment aspect' because because that's what, at the end of the day, what those anon(s) want. That's what a large majority of fiction sets out to be. Especially popular media. Wish fulfillment. And it's exactly what I say it is:
A power fantasy is wish fulfillment, empowerment and feelings of accomplishment, in all shapes and forms. It’s feeling you have worth, it’s feeling like you did something good or right. It feeling like your useful. It’s all the things that send the happy feelings to your brain. Being “competent” and “useful” can also falls into that category.
How can I not be more clear that the story is meant to be oppressive and disempowering etc?? That it's not going to be that?? I explain, justify with reasons within the MC background. I've already buildt up and fleshed out in the game why the MC is exactly way they are are the beginning of the game. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME. But if larger thematic concepts are too broad, then I've already said the MC is the underdog. Do people know what that even is anymore? I feel like I'm losing my mind.
So I'll be clear on this once again. This story is not going to give you instant gratification, you might not get it all at. The whole narrative is meant to be bittersweet at best and painfully depressing at worse. That is in almost every aspect of the narrative, including the MC.
You're going be used. You're going to be lied to. You're be betrayed. You're gonna be humiliated. And sometimes, you're going to have to gritt your teeth and move on. The MC is going to have to do that. So does everyone else in this goddamn story.
I don't give concrete answer because it's clear what I deem is competent does not match what others deem competent. Because if I do, people are going to come back and be say "but you said this..., you said that..." No matter what I say or do, people have their own expectations and belief and it's probably not going to live up to those expectations because.
And that's too bad. I've already written enough in Chapter 1 that shows mages and soldier MC can defend themselves just fine. I've already written that the MC can have a fruitful future ahead of them with their conversation with the Empress. They aren't the best in their field- they can't. They're barely an adult when the story starts. Do you hear how crazy that sounds? Most of the cast the far is 5+ years older than the MC. They have wars and conflict to prove themselves. The MC has basically finished high school and can already land a pretty comfortable career in the Empire for the rest of their life already.
This story has magic and monsters and kings and queens, but write my characters with a more realistic foundation. A lot of popular narratives have MC that dominate the narrative and I've telling everyone again, that this is not going to happen. The MC is going to have fight tooth and nail, like everyone else. It's on equal grounds.
And I say that the MC is loved and is relevant for simply being alive and loved- its because they are. The whole narrative conflict of the game is a succession dispute with in the family, were all the current successors have equal claim to the throne- including the MC and their older brothers who love them. It doesn't matter if the MC is the strongest, most powerful, capable or if they're passive. This is a constant that cannot and will not change no matter what kind of MC people play.
Sorry, but I'm starting if i'm starting to loose my patience with you, Anon, cause it does seem like you sent this in good faith, but I am getting tired of trying to justify myself all the time, especially after dealing with a particularly obsessive individual, who would not accept any explanation I gave and instead called it 'bullshit plot armor', when it really is a different flavor of realism. So forgive me, if I stop being kind, polite or generous with my time for them. Furthermore, you didn't read the messages they sent to my inbox because I made the choice not make them public and delete them. I only have so much time in the day to write game and answer every ask in my inbox. I wish I could, but I cant. There's 45 messages in my inbox as I'm writing this, but I try to answer the ones I feel are relevant and time sensitive.
Now I've said my piece, I'm gonna go retreat into my writer's den. If people are upset with what I've written so far, then I implore them to go back to pinned post, read and decide for themselves if they're willing to come along for the ride. Because if you people come at me with the same questions, I will answer the same way. If you do not understand what I am saying, than perhaps you may need to see it at a different perspective.

I think it's funny that you're not wrong, but this anonymous isn't completely wrong either. You are not obliged to do everything you are told, because you write because you love it and for free. But I think it would be nice if you at least responded to the requests that you don't want to make by saying that you don't feel comfortable or that you're not the right person to write about a certain subject, because people send requests because they like your writing and keep waiting for something that you know you'll never write, it's frustrating. You could clean out your inbox, I bet you get a lot of repeat requests and if you did the older ones there wouldn't be so many similar requests. This anonymous isn't right for demanding something like that of you, but really all the time you're opening new requests, writing things for new characters who are at their peak and forgetting about old requests. I like you, I like you a lot and I hope you take this message as constructive criticism!
"This anonymous isn't completely wrong either."
They are completly wrong. I'm not rude for opening my requests while others go unanswered.
As for what you added to the conversation, I will go through it point by point.
You think it would be nice if I at least responded to the requests that I don't want to make by saying I don't feel comfortable or that I'm not the right person to write about a certain subject.
It would be nice. You're right. But, 1. I don't have time to answer every request I recieve. There aren't enough hours in the day. 2. If there were enough hours in the day, it still wouldn't make me rude or unkind for not answering them, because I'm a person with choices.
You've assumed here that the reasons I don't want to make request is that they make me uncomfortable or that I'm not the right person. I can't speak for the latter, I'm probably not the right person for every request. But the reason I don't want to make a request is usually much more than this, and I'll list them for you.
Reasons I may not have written your request:
1. I didn't see it. I don't spend all of my free time scrolling though every single ask I recieve, and I miss them all the time.
2. Writing takes time. I may have wanted to dedicate my time to a different request, or something else.
3. I didn't like what was requested.
4. The request didn't meet my rules (which I ask everyone to read before sending a request).
5. I loved the request, but I didn't manage to make time for it.
6. I loved the request, but I forgot about it.
7. I loved the request, but I tried to write it and was unhappy with my draft.
8. I loved the request, but I loved another request, and I had to choose one.
If you want reasons for why I can't just spend every day answering requests I got sent but didn't answer, please remember I am a person with responsibilities, needs, hobbies, loved ones, etc.
People send requests because they like my writing, and they keep waiting for something that I know I will never write, it's frustrating.
People do send requests because they like my writing! But, as I'm learning, sometimes people send requests because they feel entitled to my writing and my time. Sometimes people send requests because they see me as a means to an end.
You've assumed that I know I'm never going to write a request, which isn't true.
I could clean out my inbox.
Even though I don't feel I have to share this with you, I will anyways, because I want you to understand.
I could clean out my inbox, and I do. My inbox is currently at around 900 asks. It was 1200 a few days ago, but I took some time to delete asks I felt I didn't want to answer, asks I didn't understand, spam asks, and requests. I probably deleted around 200 requests, because I will never do them. I think it is unreasonable to expect me to answer those 200 requests with a reason for each one, when, at the end of the day, a perfectly acceptable reason is "I didn't want to do this one."
I don't want to do every request I recieve. That DOESNT mean I don't appreciate the time, creativity, thoughtfulness, and often vulnerability that it took the person who sent it to send it.
Cleaning out my inbox would take a long time. If you want me to answer every request I'm deleting with a reason, it would take much longer.
I again, don't have the time to do this. I don't have the energy, or the patience, and that's okay! I'm one person trying to live the happiest life that I can, and unfortunately that doesn't include manually organising my askbox.
You bet I get a lot of repeat requests and if I did the older ones I wouldn't have so many that are similar.
Not to be disrespectful, but how would you ever know this? Again, you are making assumptions, and you are holding me to a standard based on that assumption. You can bet whatever you like, but that doesn't make what you think the truth.
That anonymous isn't right for demanding something of me.
They didn't actually ask me to do anything! They were just sending me a message expressing that they think I'm rude for opening my requests when I haven't done their request, even though in their eyes the request they sent followed my rules. But, like I've said above, there is a list of reasons why I may not have done their request, and we can add 9. The requester felt entitled to my time, and that it was okay to send me an insult based on their assumption of my actions.
But really all the time I'm opening new requests, writing for new characters who are at their peak and forgetting about old requests.
I'm allowed to open requests.
I'm allowed to write for new characters.
I'm allowed to write for popular characters.
I'm allowed to 'forget' about old requests.
You like me, you like me a lot.
I believe that you think you like me. I also believe that you are holding me to a standard that is unfair. I don't pretend to know your full intentions, but if the point of this message was to get me to answer every request I recieve every day with a yes or no, I won't be doing that. If that makes you like me less, that is your problem to deal with.
You hope I take this message as constructive criticism!
I honestly don't!
I would like to give you some constructive criticism in return!
At the start of your message, you said that I'm not obliged to do everything I'm told. You then went on to tell me a bunch of things to do. I think you should see the irony in this!
I also hope that you read this message and really take the time to understand what I'm saying. Imagine being told you have to answer every message you recieve all day and if you don't you're rude or not nice. Imagine having anonymous strangers trying to give you incredibly patronising and condescending advice on a situation they know nothing about and having to answer that kindly lest you be attacked by a barrage of messages criticising you for being rude, or for overreacting.
I cannot stress the amount of cruel anonymous asks I recieve. I can't explain it. It actually shocks my friends. There's rudeness, ignorance, people assuming I'm this and that, people framing their insults as compliments, people telling me they don't "get all the fuss", plain cruelty, and false narrative. I get very, very overwhelmed all of the time.
BUT
For everyone reading this, and to everyone who has ever sent me a request I didn't do, or support: I love this blog. I love having this blog, I love posting on this blog. I love the insane creativity and magic that people make here and lend to me. I love writing more than anything else in the entire world. It is my favourite thing to do, and so many stories I made wouldn't have been possible without the kindness, patience, sweetness and support of the people who send me requests and praise. Writing is my bona fide life saver. I will always be grateful for requests.
I hope that this doesn't get misconstrued as ungratefullness, but I have to set this boundary, and anyone who doesn't understand is fine because I know there is a sea of people who appreciate where I'm coming from:
What I do on this blog is up to me. Completely and utterly.
Again, I know there are so many people here who I can't begin to deserve, who send me requests and expect nothing in return. I love you!! I love your beautiful brains!!
Any messages trying to argue with me on this topic after this first one will be blocked. I have to protect my time and my peace of mind, and I'm not interested in debating it. — love jade

raph vs a volcano day 20
The 1987 episode plot:
Donatello's health scanner predicts Raphael has only 24 hours to live. Raphael goes around doing good deeds and taking ridiculous risks because he's gonna die anyway. Meanwhile Donatello figures out his machine didn't work right and means to tell Raphael, but you see he is distracted doing good deeds and taking ridiculous risks. It culminates with Raph inside an active volcano (trying to stop it from erupting? bro??) and his brothers have to come rescue him.
I love this episode. For so many reasons.
1) What an interesting way to give Raph his role while keeping him in character within the new role they gave him for this show. Because Mirage Raph is the guy who always wants to help without pausing to think about whether they can. He's known for sometimes being impulsive and always being protective. And not just of his fellow turtles! He sees someone in trouble he wants to help. But usually in Mirage that's expressed with violence. So for the show they made the "crazy one" express the same traits through sarcasm instead and he became the witty one, and I love how future Raphs are both. And I especially love when 1987 Raphael himself is both
2) This is such a classic plot. It's like... the tribbles spoof/tribute or 'character gets kidnapped but acts so annoying they get released.' You know the kinds of plots I mean right? Our style of storytelling has changed (it's always changing) but tv shows in late 80s early 90s especially had these. You could pretty much guess the plot from the title because you know the characters and you know the story. The exciting reveal is mostly the jokes. There are words for what I'm saying but I haven't had an english class in a few years, so take this ramble and trust me. It's a beautiful example of whatever this is. And!
---2a, It doesn't have the classic resolution that 'character thought they had one day to live due to a misunderstanding' would have on a kids show. There isn't a 'moral' about seizing the moment and using your time wisely. There also isn't a moral about communication, so instead of the miscommunication being annoying like it would in a preachy episode, it's gloriously hilarious to watch
3) Speaking of that, the obligatory 'he tried to ask' scene is Raphael watching Michelangelo cry on Donatello's shoulder because "I'll miss him so much" "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do for him" it's the oven. The oven is broken. Michelangelo is sobbing in Donatello's arms like his world is ending because they're going to have to get a new oven because this one's beyond fixing. And Raphael fully believes that Michelangelo is begging Donatello to fix him, when this version of Donatello is so very none medic. Like I don't even know how to describe why and how much I love this scene. I think I killed english
4) The scene of Raphael in the volcano. I just. He's so funny. This episode really captures what I love about the whole show, which is that I am absolutely buying into it and feeling deeply about it, and simultaneously enjoying it ironically. Does that make sense? When you can put your whole heart into unironic enjoyment but your brain at the same time gets it's 'make fun of this' treat. So both types of fun at once.
---4a it's not trying to fix the plot holes it's enjoying that in this format you don't have to. I feel like this is severely under utilized in modern cinema. make things not make sense on purpose for fun. don't explain about where they are, how they carried that object with them, why there were not other consequences for certain actions. The fun thing about stories is they don't have to be realistic unless you want them to
so for today I had intended to write a Rise version of this episode. I think it would work well for them. Plus, Raph and Donnie bonding. However. That is going in drafts and will be coming. later (march for raph is my opportunity to collect drafts for the rise turtles apparently.) I'm actually still debating if Donnie would make a health-o-meter or if something goes down in witch down, but either way, ❤️💜

Could I request 6 & 11 with Javi from the comfort prompts?
Send me a comfort prompt!
Thank you my dear 🫶
*Deténgase, por favor - Pull over, please
Prompts: Bringing them their favorite beverage; Stopping by their workplace on your way home late at night with the hunch that they’re still there
Tumblr media
"God, it's late," Connie sighs as the two of you drift out of the bar. "Steve better be home by now."
"Something you need to talk to him about?"
"Not particularly. I'm...Getting tired a little of sleeping alone," She admits with a thin smile. "Sometimes when he is there, it's like I don't even know who he is."
You nod, giving her shoulder a reassuring pat as a taxi pulls up for the two of you. You climb in, leaning back in your seat a little. Hopefully Steve is home. Hopefully, Javier is, too...
But deep-down, you're almost certain that he's not. You eye a liquor store as you drive past it, considering it. You let yourself stew in the thought for a few minutes before—
"Deténgase, por favor," You urge, leaning forward to catch the driver's attention. Connie frowns across the seat as you fish into your bag for your wallet.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, I just, um—I need to check on something at the office."
"We can take you there—"
"No, it's alright, I'll get my own. You okay getting home?"
"Yeah," She nods.
"Here," You pass your half of the cab fare over. "I'll see you tomorrow."
You climb out of the cab, shutting the door behind yourself. You second-guess yourself as you buy a bottle of whiskey, then again as you get a cab to the office. The nerves are worse still as you go up in the elevator, and you have to remind yourself that it's better if he's not there. If anything, you'll just put the bottle in his desk where he usually keeps one and get yourself home.
Rounding off of the elevator, you see the lights on, but only one person there. It's a bit of relief—it means that Steve's probably home with Connie. Javier is hunched over his desk, probably eyeing some file or map. You can see smoke curling from a cigarette that's likely either between his fingers or his lips. You knock loudly on the doorframe to draw his attention, not wanting to catch him off-guard.
Javier glances back, then does a double-take at the sight of you, his brow furrowing.
"What are you doing here?" He asks.
"Came to see if you needed help or company."
"How'd you know I'd still be here?"
"Hunch."
Javier nods a touch, gaze dropping from your face. Your skin goes hot as he seems to absently sweep your body before he turns away, clearing his throat.
"I won't be great company tonight."
"That's alright. You're usually not."
"Thanks."
You bite your lip as you watch him shift through a file, seemingly intent on ignoring you.
"...Well," You shift, "Do you at least have time for a drink?"
Javier glances over, eyes steadying on the bag in your hand. He purses his lips, thinking for a moment...And then draws his drawer out, taking out two tumblers. You try not to smile in smug satisfaction as he shuts the door and waves you closer.
"Would you like to do the honors?" You ask, setting the bottle down. Javier casts you a sidelong glance as he takes hold of the bottle.
"Thought you were going out with Connie tonight," He comments.
"I did."
"How is she?"
"Fine...Missing Steve."
"Well, far as I know, he's home, so she shouldn't be missing him much tonight."
You hum thoughtfully as he pours a healthy amount into both glasses, then scoot back to sit on his desk. You try not to overthink the way Javier watches you, instead twisting to turn his file toward you. Your eyes narrow a touch as you scan the information.
"This again?" You ask. "I thought Noonan called it on this op."
"She did. I'm looking for a new angle."
"Hell of a time to do it."
"No better time."
"No? Why's that?"
"I have a meeting with her in the morning."
"And you're planning on going into it in day-old clothing and without shaving?"
"I'll make it home in time."
"Oh really?"
"Sure. Sooner you stop slowin' me down, the faster I'll get home."
Your stomach plummets at the off-handed comment, and the way Javier turns the file back toward himself. Blame it on the late hour, or the drinks you had with Connie, but tears prick in your eyes. You force them back with a couple of blinks, raising your glass and draining it far faster than you should've. It burns on the way down, is still burning as you set your glass down and say, "Guess I'll be going, then."
"Hey, c'mon—"
You see Javier straighten in your periphery as you push yourself off of his desk.
"I didn't mean it like that," He adds.
"Yes you did."
You take the uncapped bottle petulantly, beginning to stride away.
"Wait a minute!"
You pick up your pace as you hear the scrape of Javier's chair, the thud of his feet catching up. You go still as he catches hold of your wrist. He takes a couple more cautious steps forward as he crowds closer. You can feel the heat of his chest against your back, hear the way he draws in the scent of your perfume.
"I didn't mean it like that," He repeats softly, his lips brushing against the shell of your ear. Your fingers tighten around the neck of the bottle.
Maybe he didn't. Maybe he did, and he's just trying to stay in your good graces. Either way, you're more certain than ever that you never should've come. You shove the bottle into his chest, forcing him to let go of you to catch hold of it. You don't bid him goodnight, or tell him that you're certain he's fill of shit. You just stride to the elevator and keep your expression neutral, your gaze averted until the elevator doors close. Once they're shut, you sniffle, slouching back against the elevator wall as you pinch the bridge of your nose.
"Fuck."

Sorry I know you are not a fan of thinking about it but I’m curious. Is your disgust of Skybound angst baced on a moral problem with Sa being represented and talked about at all? From what I’ve seen of your work you also uses Nadakhan’s canon creepiness that uses the fear that he is going to do worse things. It’s like you’ve drawn a certain line and shame those who write worse. Didn’t Nadakhan kiss Nya against her will? Is it because of jay focus specifically? No shame in staying away from all that of course but it’s strange like Skybound “as it is” so much but also dismiss and explain away things that happened you didn’t like or act like everyone should just not think about implications you’ve acknowledged as there. I don’t see how you could be more upset at fanfic writers than people actually paid to write and produce what clearly caused that kinda fic to be written. Again sorry to bug I don’t usually interact here but yeah.
I've read this over a few times and I think the best way for me to respond is with line by line replies because... this is a lot at once, ngl. Under the cut we go!
Is your disgust of Skybound angst baced on a moral problem with Sa being represented and talked about at all?
No. I should clarify that I'm neutral to positive on angst in general - done well, it's a great way to examine a character or situation. My specific problem with the most representative chunk of Skybound angst is how it misinterprets/misrepresents the themes of the season, usually in a way that comes off to me (key words: to me) as pointless and unfair to the characters and underlying story. It's not a moral issue. I'm just sick of the scene being flooded this way.
From what I’ve seen of your work you also uses Nadakhan’s canon creepiness that uses the fear that he is going to do worse things. It’s like you’ve drawn a certain line and shame those who write worse. Didn’t Nadakhan kiss Nya against her will?
Good point. I do use the canon creepiness factor, it's true, because that's a crucial part of Nadakhan's character. However, I draw that line and try to play within the bounds of what the show would do, because that helps me process it both to understand 1. why it's uncomfortable as-is and 2. how it serves the narrative. 2 there is kind of how I handle any analysis - no point in ragging on the writers or their intent (more on that later) because I'm analyzing the story for what the story holds. I'm not into cranking things up for the sake of angstifying my work, because I believe that with enough analysis of the existing material, I don't need to. I'm certainly not trying to shame anyone, and I understand that it might come off like that sometimes. Genuinely: I'm not trying to shame anyone, and I'm sorry if I've made it sound like I am.
Is it because of jay focus specifically?
Only kind of. (I'm writing this as if "it" in this phrase refers to my discomfort with the field of overblown Jay angst, just so we're clear.) I'm all for Jay character analysis! I like him as a character, and I love his arc in Skybound. What bothers me is when the SA themes that, by all canon means, should be applied to Nya get shuffled over to Jay even though there is zero indication in canon that he experienced it. I'm all for creative license, yes, but it also baffles me when people analyze and write Jay through that "SA was a huge cornerstone of his trauma" lens, because it wasn't. I think there are so many better questions to ask about Jay's arc and experience than "what if he was assaulted on top of all his other suffering?" On a similar note: I also think there are way better questions to ask about Nya's arc, and Nadakhan's, but unfortunately all three of them get shoehorned into reductive roles in this specific type of work, which is a disappointment. I think all three of them deserve focus in different ways, and deep dives into the things they actually did and experienced. Again: nothing wrong with a Jay focus, but I think it's more compelling to dive deep into what did happen to him than to transfer Nya's implied experience to him and crank it up.
No shame in staying away from all that of course but it’s strange like Skybound “as it is” so much but also dismiss and explain away things that happened you didn’t like or act like everyone should just not think about implications you’ve acknowledged as there.
This is where I think you're misunderstanding my position. If I've come off as saying that we should just handwave the problematic elements of the season (both of and onscreen), then please know that has never been my intention. To be perfectly clear, I'm not trying to explain these weird things away - I am simply trying to explain them. Fact of the matter is that those elements are there, stuck in a story I've found unusually compelling for eight years running; I can't get rid of them, so I may as well dig in and see why they're there and how they contribute. Does that stop the uncomfortableness from being uncomfortable? Absolutely not. However, I like to examine what role that discomfort plays in the narrative instead of giggling like a middle schooler asking you to spell ICUP and then saying you're gross for saying that. Yes, I do like Skybound as it is - because it utilizes that discomfort well to say a lot of interesting stuff about the characters involved in it.
I don’t see how you could be more upset at fanfic writers than people actually paid to write and produce what clearly caused that kinda fic to be written.
Once again: I'm not terribly interested in analyzing the deeper motives behind why the story came out the way it did. Of course it's important to consider the origin of the season, and I do that when necessary; however, keep in mind that I'm doing this for fun. I find the story layered and compelling enough on its own, and while its origins may have been questionable, I don't think that invalidates what the story has to say at all. I also find the story interesting enough on its own that I think it's weird when authors ignore all those interesting things in favor of writing hundreds of thousands of words of Jay getting assaulted in every sense of the word. I'm definitely more focused on the fic writing side of it than I am on the canon writing side because, well, the fic side is the one I'm on! These are peers I share a digital space with in a way I can't with the showrunners.
Or, put another way: This is Tumblr. You've heard of the two cakes principle, right? The idea that the audience will appreciate having more art and writing available even if it's not as fancy as the famous stuff? This situation, to me, is like that in a way. This is like me showing up to a bake sale staffed by bakers who I know are talented and have access to the best equipment and ingredients. Except I roll up and the tables are eighty percent supermarket cupcakes. Sure, sometimes a supermarket cupcake hits the spot, and generally they're crowd pleasers - they'll sell well! But this is a bake sale staffed by wildly talented bakers. I know they're capable of cooler things and I know they have access to the time and resources to make those cooler things. Maybe they just care about the bake sale in a different way than I do, and that's fine, truly... but it's still disappointing.
I hope this cleared some stuff up for you, anon. If you've got any other questions, please let me know. (And you don't have to go anon for it if you don't want to - we can even discuss it via DM if you'd like to.)

Hi 👋☺️👋☺️! I am a big fan of your writings and headcanons! I just really love how you incorporate the personality of the characters in your stories! Anyways, I saw that your requests are open for Qin Shi Huang and I was wondering if you could write a short story or headcanon of him when he is jealous. 。◕‿◕。 You don't have to do it if you don't want to and thank you for all your writings. English is not my first language so sorry for any mistakes ☺️
Thank you a lot! I'm glad you like my writing! Hope you'll enjoy this one too and sorry for the long wait^^
Tumblr media
Qin Shi Huang doesn't get jealous often and the rare times it happens he doesn't realise it either. He is the Emperor, the one and only, and considers himself to be above these sort of diatribes, yet sometimes he is jealous too. And when he does, you can't take him seriously. At first, Qin Shi Huang tries to keep his cool, he doesn't want to bore you with his worries - and he trusts you above anybody else. Yet, he can't help but feeling annoyed when certain people get too close to you. He knows it's silly, but he almost feels like you are going to substitute him. Qin Shi Huang doesn't know how to deal with it at all - he was used to keep everything inside when he was a child and now, even as an adult, he founds himself hiding his feelings. You notice there's something off about his behaviour, almost as if he is avoiding you. You have to look everywhere, in and out the palace, before acttually finding him. When you talk to him, Qin Shi Huang is detached, distant and you can't understand why. It didn't seem like there was anything different between you two, apart the fact that you had been spending considerable less time with him in the past few days. At first he almost refuses to talk, being grumpy and pouting, when you ask him what's wrong. Then he starts to loosen, sharing his doubts and insecurities with you. He is embarassed and doesn't see this behaviour of his suiting his position as the Emperor, he shouldn't be this vulnerable, yet here he is. You have to reassure him that it's fine, that he is fine and that he is human and how his feelings matter. After the confrontation, he is way more relaxed, back to his usual jovial self.

I'm very late to the party it seems, because only after getting more weird asks than usual, and a few explicitly naming the bloggers involved did I learn today of the ugliness that went down a short while ago. Storm has already said her bit and I respect her choice to quietly step back so this isn't me resurrecting a dead horse to bludgeon. I'm writing this because I've been on the receiving end of this sort of campaign before, have seen it play out too many times with the same types of people, and because I want it on record somewhere that I don't know anybody here personally (a conscious choice) but that all my dealings with Storm showed her to be a forthright and thorough person. And even if she wasn't, that wouldn't excuse any of this bullshit.
Normally if this were a private matter I'd keep my opinion to myself after all I don't know any of you. But the moment anybody brings this shit into the public then anybody gets to have a go at it. We've all seen these sorts of takedown posts before, and I'm not always opposed to them because sometimes they're for good reason. If someone is actually racist, or idk a serial killer, it's good for the public to know that shit. Differing opinions on jikook being real, someone cussing you out, or blocking liberally do not meet that threshold for me, but everyone's different.
When I see these takedowns happen, including when it happened to me, I've observed it usually involves HCP personalities in this blogging space that take certain actions extremely personally and nurse grievances until it festers into fuel for drama that they gratify in because in their heads they believe they’ve been scorned and therefore are right. They usually think in a very tribal sense, rope other people in and force people into camps of friend, neutrals, and foe, and wear their egos on their sleeves.
In my case, I'd only been blogging here actively for less than 5 months before a pair of bloggers and their followers accused me of feuding with them, using them for clout, and that my opinions on my blog somehow prevented them from running their own blog and speaking freely. They'd been nursing that grievance for months with the followers who felt as they did, while I was oblivious, blogging with abandon so to speak, even interacting with them, until the call-out post. And my followers had been receiving messages about how much of a horrible bitch I am (I mean, I can be a bitch but hadn't been to anyone here at that point).
Thankfully I hadn't been blogging for long so most people could go through my blog to read what I actually think, see how I actually engage, and decide for themselves if anything those bloggers said made any sense. Storm has a longer blogging history and the campaign against her more widespread since she was very active in jikook spaces, plus she legit needs a break so I get why she's decided to take one now. I still get weird asks from people who claim to be devoted to those bloggers and that shit, that behaviour, that mentality is ugly. The point here is too many people take shit personally and then try to make it everyone's problem. Some HCP people can't help it if they have those sorts of personalities, but that doesn't excuse it. Seeing shit like this just kills the vibe for anyone who doesn't get high off that nonsense, and it further frays whatever community people are trying to build here. I usually keep my distance but I admire the people who have tried, even if only in public, to connect with people here and build community. Not everyone has to like everyone else, but there's enough abuse and BS to jokers from outside the community and fandom, for anyone to think their momentary satisfaction is worth poisoning this space, or character assassinating someone else.
Apparently anyone who has voiced support for Storm, has themselves become a target, and that in itself should tell you how weird this all is lmao.
For the people flooding my inbox who think we're in kindergarten and I should declare where my loyalties lie, get a fucking grip. If you have a problem with my arguments or views, I'm always happy to engage on that basis. But if you think me liking Storm and interacting with her posts is reason enough for you to act a fool in my inbox, you must be high out of your goddamn mind. Take my advice and block me because nobody here has time for all that.
Borahae. 💜
