Tell me why, on a day I have to go to the office, I had the Absolute Joy of a grown couple just referring to each other by pet names and mauling each other, basically pressed up against me on the tube.
Like I get that we’re on a busy train but when I manage to escape and they FOLLOW ME TO THAT PART OF THE CARRIAGE it’s like someone is trying to kickstart my villain origin story.

Prologue & Chapter 1
A Blind Girl & Her Dog
"We followed the curse here, it unfortunately already killed the couple," Gojo says,
"Damn," Yuji says, "Well what are we waiting for lets go kill it"
"Not so fast buckaroo, Nanami and I think you two should go in alone. I wanna see where your abilities are at and whether you guys rely on Megumi too much"
"Ummm?" Nobara scoffs, "Yuji and I work just fine without that walking storm cloud. Come on let's show them" She says before walking off and Yuji follows.
"We'll follow you in after a few minutes and watch you from a distance," Nanami says
"Okay!" Yuji says in response
"Those kids are gonna get eaten alive" Gojo laughs
"Yep," Nanami replies, "Their cursed technique is great but they rely on it too much; they need to hone in their hand-to-hand combat and become more versatile with their weapons."
"Agreed, the principal is actively recruiting for a Combat Specialist, so let's see where that goes. Sighhhhh. Come on" Gojo says walking into the house with Nanami Following

The Vibe:
Most Men-Amber Mark
'Clunk Clunk Clunk'
My cane makes that insufferable sound as I walk down the bustling streets of Tokyo.  I hear the laughter and chatter coming from the restaurant with the outdoor seating on my left; and on my right, I smell a fresh brioche being taken out of the oven from the bakery on the corner.
'Click Clack, Click Clack'
The sound coming from the heels of a business women more than 30 feet away.
'I needed that report yesterday Haru;  just have it turned in by 5 please'  She says before hanging up abruptly.
"Yikes" I whisper to myself as I take a sip of my tea
'Clunk Clunk Clunk'
I continue walking down the street eventually turning off the right into the neighborhoods; they're much quieter than before. As I continue to walk I can hear loud sounds of downtown fade away behind me.
I'm on my way home from a long day of work at the restaurant, we debuted a new dish and the line was down the street for hours.  It is now 11 past midnight and I find myself operating on autopilot on my way home. It's about a 2-mile walk from my loft to the restaurant; takes me about 30 min but I don't mind the fresh air, it's become a part of my nighttime routine honestly.  It would be less draining and miles easier if I took a cab or an uber, but I need to keep my senses sharp. Every time I successfully make the walk home it's proof that I can continue to survive on my own.  Navigating through one of the most busiest cities in the world is almost a near-impossible feat for a blind woman after all.
Nearing the end of my walk I begin to hear strange noises coming from the home next to mine.  It sounds like a couple of people loudly talking and then the occasional scream or shriek maybe? And the smell, ughk, it was like someone put an industrial size fan in front of the city dump. I quickly find my way up the steps to my home and hurriedly unlock and open my door slamming it behind me to lock out the smell and sound.
"Phew" I sigh in relief, "Yukio!" I loudly call out. I hear the pitter-patter of clawed paws making their way across the hardwood floor and stopping at my feet. I fold my cane in itself and bend down to pet my pup.  She was a midsized short-haired dog and she is my eyes, my guard, and my best friend.
"Hi, baby!" I laugh and pet her as she happily greets me, "How are you? Come on, let me feed you, sweet girl"
I walk to the kitchen and grab the dog food container that I leave on the left side of the counter. My home is very consistent with where I store my things, if it's out of place then it's lost. I live alone, I have no family, or friends that I trust in my home. Just me and my pooch and honestly I don't mind it. To live a life of quiet solitude is a near miracle considering the life I've lived. I grab her food bowl from the counter and pour some food in it and do a touch test to make sure it's enough and eventually place it down on the ground on the side of the kitchen island.
While she eats I go upstairs and change into my sleepwear for bed. Tonight is just a pair of boy shorts and an oversized T-shirt. I walk to my bathroom and brush my teeth as well as brush out my long silk press, making sure I have no knots.
I make my way downstairs and grab my stashbox as I head to the back patio with Yukio.  While she runs around and does her business, I sit in my hammock and pack a bowl of the devil's jazz lettuce and begin to smoke; weed is very illegal here in Japan but the Chairperson of Japans National Public Safety is an old 'friend' of mine, so I'm not too worried.
The Vibe:
Ain't No Rest for the Wicked
I lay back in my hammock, relaxing in the cool spring air, I smell the blooming cherry blossoms in the breeze and listen to the sounds of the locusts making their music.
'Crash!'
'Fuck!'  I hear someone shout from next door
I spring up and turn my head in the direction of the noise, patiently waiting for another sound.  I wait for what feels like hours but in reality, no more than 10 secs before I hear another sound.
'Boom! Crash!'
'Black Flash!'  I hear a boy's voice yell before I hear the sound of an isolated explosion.
I get out of my hammock and run back inside to quickly grab the closest weapon I have stashed in my home. My karambit knife, I keep it hidden behind a piece of artwork on my wall; as well as an old school train conductor's hand counter. The sound from the counter will act as my cane, but in a smaller and more discreet way; it will create small sound waves that bounce off the surrounding surface, Human Echolocation.
Walking back outside I call for Yukio and she quickly runs to me, "Guard" I command to her.
Yukio has been with me since day one of my blindness; I got her as a gift from my father when he was still alive. Freshly blinded and in the hospital bed, he told me to reach out my hand's palms out, he then handed me Yukio a tiny puppy at the time.
"From now on Himari, where you go she goes when you train she trains. The loss of your sight is merely a setback; we are warriors who use weapons, she is your weapon." My father said to me.  He presented her as a tool merely in my utility belt, but I knew he also intended for her to be my friend.  We trained together for years and eventually, we became an unstoppable pair on the job.
Yukio switched from her relaxed usual demeanor to her serious kill-on-demand attitude. I begin to walk towards the back gate of my yard that leads to the alleyway, Yukio quickly follows behind me making little noise.
'Tick Tick
I use the counter to gauge my surroundings, decide the area is clear, and turn left to walk to the neighbor's house. I approach the back door and get slapped in the face with some garbage smell as well as an overwhelming smell of fresh blood.
"Shit" I whisper under my breath, "Stay" I demand Yukio pointing to the doorway. I hear her quietly whimper and sit down.
'Tick Tick
From the sound of it, the house seemed huge, which makes no sense because every house in this neighborhood is about the same size.  This sounds like a mansion, with so many walls, and so much empty space.
Feels wrong here
"Itadori watch out"  I hear a female voice yell this time before another crash.
I take a sec to make sure there's no one nearby to ambush me and command Yukio, "Come" We quickly, but quietly, follow the sound, making lefts and rights down this maze of a home, until finally, we hear the sounds of a fight more clearly.  I eventually stop at the doorway where the fight is taking place. Yukio and I hide behind the wall listening and waiting to make our next move.
"Fuck! Why does he only move when we move!!!" The girl's voice yells in a huff
"I Don't know but it's making it damn near impossible to touch," The boy says in return\
The 'It' in question is unknown to me, I hear their heartbeats pretty clearly, but 'It' had none, yet it continues to move and attack. I can tell it was physically like a person but something was off.
What is this?
Also, the smell is coming from in here as well as that fresh pool of blood in the corner on the right. I hear them continue to try to attack it together for about 10 more minutes. They were very unsuccessful, barely making contact. As they catch their breath for a minute they stand still and the room went silent.
"On 3?" the boy asks
"I guess" the girl responds
"1..2..3!" I hear them both lunge forward at the same time, but I notice that the thing locks on to him first instead of the girl knocking him back and THEN her.
That's it
I've finally had enough of this sad fight and decided to intervene, quickly Yukio and I walk up in between the girl and the boy.  "Hey, y'all okay?" I simply ask starling them
"Jesus. Does it look like we are okay?" The girl snarkily replies
"I don't know" I truthfully answer in an unamused tone
"Dude, why are you here? It's like totally not safe" the boy says, "Can you even see that?" he asks and I assume points
"Nope," I say "But yall looked like you need some help"
"Well unless you can't see it, you can't fight it; and if you can't fight it, you are gonna die. So I suggest you leave with your, cute dog Lady"
"Thank you, my dog is cute," I say not being able to help myself, "You" I point at the boy, "It only moves when you move"
"No it moves when either of us moves" he retorts
"You can't tell because you guys move almost at the same time, but I guaranteed it's locked onto you man.  Easy way to prove it if you just take a step forward" I say looking in the girl's direction now.
"Fine" She steps forward and the thing doesn't move one bit.
I go ahead and do the same thing and once again it doesn't move, "See" I say, "We are gonna use you as bait. You begin to run that way" I say pointing to the left, "And she will attack"
"Sounds easy to me," She says, "Thanks strange dog lady"
"Okay" He sighs, "Ready Kugisaki?"
"As I'll ever be" She replies, "On your count"
"1..2..3!" He yells and begins to run in the other direction. The thing quickly locks on and follows behind him and almost instantly knocking him down. The girl did manage to get a jump on him and begins to hit him once but she want' fast enough; as she goes to hit it again the thing grabs her by the wrist and lifts her.
"Shit" I hiss before grabbing my knife and commanding to Yukio to stay.  I quickly run towards the thing and quickly slice through its arm that was holding the girl. My knife went through it like a hot knife to a stick of butter, and she and the arm drop to the floor. Not wanting to give it time to counterattack, I kneel and roll behind it slashing the back of the ankles making it fall to its knees before finally coming back around and taking its head clear off. I slide back and in a protective stance waiting for it to get back up just in case, but after about 15 secs nothing happened and I relaxed.
"Everyone okay?" I ask
"Yep" I hear the muster up
"Yea, thank you, that was kind of badass," the girl says
"Thank You " I chuckle, "Yukio, Rest" I command, "Come," I say wiping my knife on my shirt and tucking it in my shorts before I pick up Yukio to hug her. Both our heartbeats were about to burst; It's been a while since we've been this on edge, "who are you guys?" I ask
"Well I'm Nobara and he's Yuji" she replies
"Pleasure to meet you, I'm Ari" I respond, "I smell loads of fresh blood, I'm assuming that's my neighbors then?" I ask
"Unfortunately yes," Yuji says
"Figures, I think I heard them dying when I got home. There were screams and yelling but I didn't think they were getting murdered in here."  I say a little guilty
"You couldn't have known," Yuji says
"Hey guys!" a random man says on the other side of the room. My head instantly turns to the new voice, "So that was unexpected" He says walking towards us. I hear that there is another set of footsteps following him, "Nanami Thoughts?"
"Nobara I'm disappointed you didn't figure it out, Yuji, I'm not surprised," another man says very bluntly
"Hey man, we aren't a full team right now, Megumi isn't hereee" Yuji complains
"Yea Megumi is the brain, Yuji the Brawn, and I'm also the brawn but hot"
The first man continues to walk towards us but specifically towards me stopping about a foot away and leaning over me looking down, "And who might you be?"  He asks in a happy tone, I'd have to assume that he is smiling.
"The nosey neighbor," I say taking a step back, "Are y'all cops or something?" I ask
"We're Jujustu Sorcerers, these are our students," the other man says unentertained
My blind eyes go dead, "Welp, you lost me at sorcerer so imma go home now. Dad always said to never ask questions you don't want to know the answer to." I say holding on to Yukio and clicking my counter beginning to walk away.
'Tick Tick
Whoa, the house sounds normal now, with less room, and fewer turns, it's like my home now.
"Weird," I say a little loud quickly stopping
"The cursed spirit locked us in a pocket dimension. As soon as you stepped in, you were trapped. It was lifted when you killed it" The first man responds, "What's the clicker for?"
"She's Blind" The other man chimes in
"No she's not Nanamin," Yuji says, "There's no way"
"He's right, I'm blind. The clicker helps me echolocate" I respond
"Like a bat?" Nobara says, "Okay batgirl, slay"
"Satoru Gojo," The first man says in front of me.
We all kinda stand there for a while in awkward silence.
"Are you- are you holding your hand out right now?" I say with a STRONG hint of annoyance before holding my hand out searching for his and finally connecting with him. He vigorously shakes my hand before pulling me to the other man, "This is my Best Friend Kento Nanami, shake the woman's hand Nanamin" he says in a childish voice
The man takes my hand and firmly shakes mine; his hand easily overpowered mine, it was big and firm. Yet he had a softness to him that sent chills down my spine., "I apologize for my colleague's behavior and the loss of your neighbors"
"Thank you," I say very genuinely
"What's your name?" Gojo says
"Himari Sanada, Nice to meet you all." I say clearing my throat, "Well, if y'all don't mind, imma take my girl and going home now. I'd say it's been fun but that would be a lie soooo bye." beginning to walk away
'Tick Tick
"Hey, you need a job? We're looking for a new combat specialist, our students are lacking in that area if you couldn't tell"
"No thanks. I've got a job good night" I say waving my hand before leaving all behind.

Meeting the Parents
Alex Cloudmill/Maya Dew
Ao3 Link <- Consider leaving comments/kudos here!
Butterflies brawled in Alex’s stomach, and she wiped her hands on her pants again. For like the fifth time in the past ten minutes.
No, it wasn’t Garnok rising or Sabine or Katja or—
“They’re going to love you, Alex.” Maya smiled and interlocked her fingers with Alex. “You have nothing to worry about.”
Alex shifted in the dining booth and nodded with false bravado. “I’m not nervous.”
“You don’t have to lie,” Maya said. “It’s okay to be nervous.”
Their booth in the Coffe Pot Café overlooked the Dundull bay and in the early morning, Alex could watch the fishermen set up their sails for the day.
“Okay,” Alex said. She smiled at Maya. Her warmth was so infectious, and Alex never wanted to be without it. “I’m nervous. But not as nervous as I was a few minutes ago.”
“Good,” Maya said. “Now, imagine how I felt when I had to meet the Mayor of one of the biggest and busiest cities in Jorvik because he was my girlfriend’s brother!”
It still made Alex giddy when she heard Maya call her her girlfriend. It was a novelty, okay? And even if it became habitual, Alex didn’t think her happiness at that name would fade, anyway.
“Technically, Mayor Peanut is Fort Pinta’s mayor. You just met his assistant.” Alex brought their entwined hands up and kissed Maya’s. “Besides, James is all bark and no bite.”
“To you! He immediately started quizzing me on every detail of my stay in Fort Pinta until he found another opportunity to make money.”
“He is nothing if not dedicated.”
“I think that runs in the family.”
Alex laughed.
“Maya!”
Alex straightened. Maya’s parents had arrived. They shared Maya’s green eyes, but not her red hair. As they exchanged hugs and hellos, Alex stood to the side glancing anywhere but at the family. She wasn’t used to such overt familial affection, and the brawling butterflies in her stomach had graduated to a full on fight ring.
“Ma, Pa.” Maya took Alex’s hand and smiled at her. “This is Alex.”
Alex inclined her head with an awkward smile. “Nice to meet you both.”
“Us too!” Mrs. Dew beamed.
They all sat down in the booth and continued their conversation.
“Your mother was so excited, I don’t think she spoke a single word about anything else the whole bus ride,” Mr. Dew complained.
“Well, Maya had told me so much about you, Alex, that it was hard to wait!” Her mother began to scan the menu. “Though, you must forgive me, but it’s slipped my mind what you do for a living.”
“Oh, well, I’m in druidic training at the moment,” Alex replied. She was sure it was not what her girlfriend’s parents wanted to hear—that she was joining a secretive religious sect, but there wasn’t much truth Alex was able to tell Maya’s parents. So, she was trying not to lie when she could. If everyone knew about the true danger and magic of the world…maybe it would be better. But, alas, Fripp would have her head. Not that he doesn’t already have a million reasons to be mad at her, anyway. “But, I help my brother out at Fort Pinta sometimes, too.”
“Druidic training?” Mr. Dew asked. “That’s…”
“Remember our blacksmith back in the day, honey? He was a druid.” Mrs. Dew pointed out.
“Alex is great at it, too, guys,” Maya said. “She’s even on this task force that helps out across Jorvik.”
“Oh! Didn’t you say you had picnics with…oh, what was their name? One of Alex’s colleagues.” Mrs. Dew said.
“Yeah, we have picnics with one of my, um, co-workers in the Forgotten Fields,” Alex said.
“That’s so darling,” Mrs. Dew said. “Do you like it in Jarlaheim?”
“Oh, Jarlaheim’s a beautiful city, but I don’t actually live there,” Alex said.
“Oh, I must have heard Maya wrong, then,” Mrs. Dew said. “Where do you live?”
“I have a house in Valedale, but I do often stay with Maya in the Harvest Counties. It’s easier that way.” Alex fiddled with the napkin in her lap. “Plus, I have a good friend in Jarlaheim that will let me crash if need be.”
“Oh good, good,” Mrs. Dew said.
The waitress came to take their drink orders and then was off.
“This Dundull weather is beautiful, isn’t it, Ma?”
“Oh, yes. I love the sea breeze,” Mrs. Dew said. She folded her napkin in her lap. “Alex, do you like Fort Pinta, Jarlaheim, or Valedale best?”
“There’s great things about all of Jorvik, of course. But, I do really like living in Jarlaheim. It reminds me of home. The music scene is really great.”
“What kind of music are you into?”
“Hip-hop. Some rock. What about you?”
“Ooh, I like Jazz,” Mrs. Dew said. “The blues.”
“She plays it non-stop,” Mr. Dew added. “Where did you say your hometown was?”
“Jorvik City.”
“We live there now! Which part?” Mrs. Dew asked.
“Governor’s Fall. I really did love it, but at some point, my family just couldn’t afford to live there anymore,” Alex said. It was bittersweet but Alex was glad for the memories she made there.
“You both will have to visit us next time in Jorvik City,” Mrs. Dew said.
“Ma, I don’t like the city. I can’t bring Elli with me.” Maya pouted. It was funny. Maya was completely at ease, as she should be with her parents, but Alex felt like she was currently acting the most professional and polite she ever has.
“I’m sure your horse will be okay for a few days alone.”
“No, she won’t.”
The conversation devolved into a light-hearted argument about Elli being able to handle some alone time that was interrupted by their waiter taking their drink orders. The dinner continued in a similar banter, and the tension that Alex had held slowly dissipated.
By the time they were exchanging goodbyes, Alex really felt close to them.
Once they were gone, Alex and Maya started walking to the Dundull stable.
“They really like you a lot, you know,” Maya said. She squeezed Alex’s hand.
Alex knew she had issues with parental figures. It was an obvious consequence of her childhood that manifested in both avoidance and over-attachment to her older mentors. Especially with Elizabeth gone, Alex felt like she had to re-confront all her mental struggles all over again.
She was glad to have Maya by her side, and a small part of her hoped that one day, just maybe, she could call Maya’s parents her own.

RP SENTENCE STARTERS INSPIRED BY "Astro City" (1995) MEGAPOST
Edit pronouns/names/locations/etc. and combine or separate as needed when sending.
#1
"In my dreams, I fly. I soar unfettered, and serene, laughing at gravity and at care. The clouds embrace me as a friend and the wind lazily tousles my hair. I lose myself in the sun and the sky."
"The emergency alert transmitter. As always."
"Some sort of weather disaster. Probably another typhoon."
"Manila's a nice flight, under other circumstances. But not today."
"There's no time. There's never any time."
"Of course, there's shock damage to dealt with, and venting the volcano that caused the wave..."
"'Deadlines' as always. Four manuscripts late out of editorial as always. And guess who gets to make up the time?"
"Well, if things are that dire, might as well get to it. 'Time nor tide tarrieth no man.'"
"You know, for someone who enjoys his job so much, you figure just once he'd get here a little early."
"Not bad-- a little florid, but it captures the subject well."
"I swear, I used to think he was standoffish-- but I'm starting to believe he really is the busiest guy on Earth!"
"Cuttin' it a bit fine, eh, [NAME]? We were gettin' ready t'start without ya!"
"Button it. They've never missed a meeting, which is more than I can say for you!"
"Now, now. No need to fuss-- we're all here."
"Boost power-flow by 13%."
"So what's the verdict? Will I ever play violin again?"
"Perfect-- We're reading 85% human with a 15% alien overlay."
"Ha!-- Enough of circuitry and wiring, we have a call to arms!"
"Yeah, yeah, big deal! Like we don't already know you're fast..."
"You'd better be in there! Lunch hour ended TEN minutes ago!"
"I know, and I'm sorry. But the solitude helps me work faster."
"I can't save everybody-- people die even while I'm saving lives *here*-- but I still do what I can. Can't I?"
#2
"Please, it's only [TITLE/FULL NAME/ETC.] when you're in trouble. Call me [(NICK)NAME]."
"I had Sally make us lunch reservations at the press club. I'll introduce you to some of the guys you'll be working with."
"Good. We've got a few minutes before it's time to head down, then. Relax, loosen your tie maybe-- you look like you're choking."
"Sorry, this article you've got framed here. I can understand the others, but why this one?"
"You're observant. I like that."
"That's a story I usually tell over lunch, but I think the club waiters are getting tired of it."
"Press! Press! I need that phone!"
"Your first week, and you already want the front page?"
"I know, I know. But all I've gotten are obits and one flower show. And I could taste this one--"
"Hotshot reporter! Ace newshound! Your pulitzer."
"I'd sneak you up, but I've got an early audition tomorrow."
"Radio jingle, or a soap opera this time?"
"They've got no money of course-- they're putting on the show in a coffeehouse--"
"By the power of the dark heart-- of blood and bone crushed to powder..."
"By the power of the killing fish... the great fish that never rests, whose hunger is never sated..."
"I open the channels to your hunger... I open the channels to your power!..."
"I don't know if what you're trying would even work, but I'd just as soon not find out!"
"I THANK YOU. YOUR WORLD IS WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE. YOU AND YOUR MINNOWS HAVE SERVED ME WELL... AND YOU SHALL NOT GO UNREWARDED!"
"TAKE MY POWER UNTO YOU. TAKE MY HUNGER AS YOUR OWN--"
"Your army's not going anywhere except the stockade, chum!"
"Quit clowning around and get the job done! We don't have time for your foolishness!"
"You're most uncool! This scene is so square, it's cubed!"
"These oversized sardines need to be put back into the can!"
"THE HUMANS ARE MORE RESOURCEFUL THAN THEY FIRST APPEARED. BUT THEY SHALL NOT PREVAIL."
"We are in a half-world between realities-- and we must prevent it from becoming a beachhead!"
"No offense, but a neophyte reporter bringing a wild story like this... extra-dimensional attack, mystic half-worlds, old legends... would you believe it, in my shoes?"
"Rewrite it, [NAME]. Rewrite it and stick to the facts you can back up."
"This is a strange world, son. And there are lots of weird things in it. That makes us, as a newspaper, vulnerable. Other papers may go out there with sensational, screaming headlines that turn out to be a mistake. We print what we can prove. Sometimes spectacular, sometimes it isn't. Our readers count on us for the truth."
#3
"Please. A drink for everyone in this establishment, my dear."
"Worth a cool mil-- and he says anyone coulda done it--"
"Hey, hey! I heard somebody went down last night-- on your lookout."
"That ain't fair. He was waitin' for us. Gagged me, then in came the cops. I barely managed to slip away."
"Go ahead! Scoff! Don't believe me."
"Oh look-- it's a ruffian of some sort!"
"I'll have the chauffeur rough them up and toss them into the river. Such impertinence."
"Uh, it's nothin' guys. I got an offer to work on my aunt's house in California. I'm thinkin' about it, like a vacation y'know?"
"[NAME] squealed! He's tryin' to bring me in!--"
"Eyes~, oh eyes~! Some people see too much, Eyes!"
"No, please stop! Don't wind that crank, please!"
"Oh, but it's such a nice song, don't you think? Why don't you sing it with me..."
"The monkey thought it was all in fun~!--"
"A hundred-thousand to the man who kills him! And two-hundred in merchandise credit!"
"Sounds like a good deal, but read the fine print: It's awfully hard to collect when you're in prison!"
"Nobody leaves the party early! Don't worry-- I'll get around to you as quickly as I can!"
"How many times have your mother and I told you? If you and your little friends can't play nice, your toys are going to be taken away from you!"
#4
"I swear. I don't know how you do it. I couldn't live up here: gives me the willies just driving through."
"--She broke out of jail. Rebuilt her commode and prison cot into a jackhammer."
"It looks like it's just a pin, but if I turn the design in the frame like-- well, I won't do it now, but it'll set off alarms at headquarters."
"Some. They're not as bad as you think, though. I grew up there. I guess I'm just used to it."
"'Not as bad as you think,' listen to her!"
"One of the gals in my apartment just took a new job in San Franscisco, we're looking for a new roomie."
"She becomes one of them! She works down there, now she lives down there--"
"Mistletoe, child, will protect you from the prince of darkness. For he cannot stand its purity. Also good if need speak to ghosts, but that for later."
"And when the dust settles, if any of you are still standing-- DON'T SAY WE DIDN'T WARN YOU!"
"Into the stairwell! It's reinforced and we've got to get to ground level!"
"Don't even bat an eyelash kiddo. I may be old enough to be your grampaw, but I got the drop on ya!"
#5
"Can't-- caught in some kind of magnetic field!"
"It's screwing up my servos!"
"We'll take him apart from the knees up!"
"No need to applaud, kiddies and kiddettes!
"Just sit back and watch while a professional demonstrates the fine art of monster-taming!"
"You're not exactly cooperating there, tall-dark-and-bloodthirsty!"
"You wouldn't wanna make me look bad, would you?"
"What did we do so wrong to deserve him?!"
"Just get 'im out of here-- before I rip his leg off and beat the monster's head in with it!"
"Cripesakes, man! This is a battlezone! Get outta here!"
"Izzat the new 720? Man, I read about those! Sweet machine, can I--"
"It is NOT your precious machine! And what it is is none of your concern! Now be off with you!"
"Cold is better than walls. I am content."
"Another rejection-- you think the boy would learn!"
"Why can't he get a normal, respectable job like any other--"
"Transmission connection established. Awaiting signal."
"Heads up in there, you lucky unfortunate, you-- And better have your autograph book ready! 'Cause you're sure to want a memento of this daring rescue to show to your grandchildren someday!"
"You know, the service in here is terrible. Whaddya say pops? Let's BLOW this popsicle stand!"
"Ah, to think that all the other superheroes will pale by comparison!"
"No autographs please, ladies! I still have work to do! I-- MY RECORD COLLECTION!"
"Hmph! Be like that! See if I don't get a lawyer for unauthorized use of the name..."
"So the woman says 'you idiot-- this is a duck, not a pig!' and the bartender says-- 'I was talking to the DUCK!'... fine, don't laugh! See if I care."
"Here you go: A trio of sleeping not-so-beauties!"
"Aw, pshaw! Gotta leave *something* for the boys in blue to do!"
"Do you mind?! We're on stakeout here!"
"C'mon! I know a little after-hours place around the corner. Could be your lucky night!"
"And you, such a sensitive guy, too. The mind positively boggles!"
"So, what about you, short stuff? Ready to graduate into the big leagues?"
"I'm only lending a helping hand, dear lady! Pretend I'm not even here!"
"Yes, it was a long and complex investigation to get the goods on this vicious criminal ring. But I want you to know there's no way I could have done it without the assistance of these girls here--"
#6
"I just... didn't know whether you'd be showing up as yourself, or as..."
"I wouldn't want to make you reveal your secret identity-- you don't need to change."
"Now we're not going to take no for an answer, big guy. You keep overworking yourself like this, you're going to crack."
"Take an evening off for once. The rest of us can keep the world safe tonight."
"Oh please, guys! That thing's fast, sure... but let's be realistic here!"
"This is priceless, isn't it? The world's most prominent superheroes, and neither of us has been out on a date in so long... we've forgotten how it works."
"I... I don't know. I didn't really think to make reservations anywhere. It's not like we can go to dinner like this, right?"
"So they are. But you know what? It's our night off. Let's go ahead and cause a fuss!"
"Where now?... we could go to Paris, or Tokyo... if you prefer."
"Where would it be different?"
"My idea of a swell evening, I'll tell you-- freezin' my buns off so some other guy can get some!"
"Um, really? No offense... but it's not the sort of thing I'd imagined for you."
"I can take off whenever I need to, as long as the work gets done."
"Well yes, but surely you could get whatever connections you want from the government or any station--"
"I suppose I could, now. But I wouldn't have been able to when I started out... And, well. I've been kind of busy..."
"That was it. That was the end of my mission. I don't know what it changed-- but that it was a crucial event."
"And I can't help but think, if one disaster could send the world into ruin... well, having seen where we could end up, I feel like I should try to keep things as safe as I can.
"But I couldn't find my family. They didn't exist-- they'd never been born."
"The dwelling unit where I grew up was gone, too. In its place was an automated taco stand."
"But the world I came from is gone. It simply never was."
"It's okay. We knew going into it that this would happen if I was successful, and we all agreed that--"
"We're a couple of workaholics, it seems. Addicted to our beepers."
"Hey, I'll turn mine off if you turn yours off."
"Because I've got a message to send, to women. Not just that they can be heroic, but that they matter. They count."
"Look, I do what I do by choice, and so do you."
"You prioritize by time, who's nearest. And I prioritize by what message I send."
"Tell me about it. I've been called everything from a pagan cult-leader to an anti-american lesbian terrorist."
"I just try to focus on the mission, on getting through to the next job that needs doing."
"I think if I stepped back and looked at it from outside I'd just crack from the enormity of it all."
"But everybody needs to step back. To get some perspective."
"You must have family, friends to turn to from before--"
"Wow! You're almost as cut off as I am..."
"Oh COME ON! I don't have the luxury you do, keeping a secret identity you don't even use! I mean, where is this normal life you say you always want? You're always on the go, you barely even had enough time for tonight!--"
"But don't you see how unrealistic that is?"
"Everything we do is unrealistic. We're fighting for dreams, and we can't give up, not even when... maybe especially when it's impossible."
"Maybe you're fine. Maybe you're still the woman you were, just more powerful and effective."
"But it seems to me that well... if you don't deal with the world through anything but the costume and the mission, hasn't it become kind of a shelter in itself?"
"Just because you saw your whole world destroyed doesn't mean I have to go crawling back to that broken, pathetic, SCARED little thing I once was!"
"You're really annoying, you know that? It's like... you're a god pretending to be normal."
"I'm a woman trying to live up to the role of a god. Letting go of that, even for a little while... well. It's hard to believe I'll ever capture it again."
"Don't worry about it: You've given me a lot to think about. Just as long as it hasn't been entirely one-sided..."
"No-- no. You said some things I haven't considered, but maybe I should..."

'It'll be the greatest music arena ever built': Manchester's Co-op Live boss gives exciting update on £365m venue - and how Harry Styles and Bruce Springsteen helped
'Co-op Live will be one of the three or four busiest arenas in the world on day one - and I’m talking the Garden, Forum, O2'
The boss of east Manchester’s new £365 million arena says it will become one of the busiest and most important music venues in the world on the day it opens.
Co-op Live, currently under construction next to the Etihad Stadium in east Manchester, is on track to be completed and host its first events in December next year.
In an exclusive interview with the Manchester Evening News, Tim Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group, the American firm behind the project, said they had already “locked down” some artists for the first flurry of gigs.
And he revealed how the venue on the banks of the Ashton Canal, which he says was inspired by a Bruce Springsteen remark and which Harry Styles helped create, will have 32 bars, restaurants and clubs, but will be a “big sweaty hall” inside.
Speaking from the Co-op Live’s swanky offices in the Northern Quarter, Tim, 65 said: “You’ll be hearing artists and events announced soon. We have some things already locked down. We have some big things locked down.”
On the possibility of heartthrob Harry, who is a “passionate” investor in the project, opening the venue himself, Tim said: “It’s his choice, as to what he wants to do, but my guess is in somewhere in the first six months of the building you are going to see a large Harry presence and I think he’s going to want to do something spectacular as this is hometown.
“One thing I absolutely guarantee you is it will be one of the three or four busiest arenas in the world on day one. Right off the bat.
“And I’m talking the Garden, Forum, O2, Co-op Live. Those four buildings will be the four most important music buildings in the world.
"Manchester deserves one of the great, great music venues. The arena we’re building here, it’s going to be the greatest music arena ever built.”
He said Covid had not delayed the project as OVG and Manchester City’s owners the City Football Group, who are co-investors, had benefited from putting in their money up front, securing the financing for the project before the pandemic economic shocks and also from ‘buying out’ virtually all the materials needed for the project at the beginning.
“The decision we entered into with the city of Manchester to try and put as much of this £365 million economic impact into the region and try to drive the economy here, it turns out that has saved us, as what we don’t have, which many other projects have, is shipping issues,” he said. "If we hadn't have done that, we wouldn't be having this conversation, we'd be delayed by at least a year or two.
“If we went out and started this project today, and priced it up today, it would be a £500 million arena. So I got some sleep at night with Co-op Live.”
The 23,500-capacity venue, set to become the biggest indoor arena in the UK when it opens, will host around 120 events a year. Tim, an entertainment and sports executive with decades of experience in the industry, said on previous arena projects he had always been “compromised by trying to please everyone” but that with Co-op Live had “made it about music and started there."
And he revealed how none other than 'The Boss' - rock legend Bruce Springsteen - had a role in shaping its ethos.
Tim said he was left "devastated" that whilst opening the Staples Centre in LA, Bruce said 'all you corporate people in the boxes come out here we're having a party.
"I went to see him afterwards and asked him what he thought. He said 'I like a hot sweaty hall'. I never forgot that. And I promised myself then I had to be smarter.
"This arena, Co-op Live, will do 100 nights of music a year. Yes, we'll do a hockey or basketball game or two. We'll hopefully do boxing. We'll definitely do UFC. But it'll do 100 nights of music. Manchester is one of the greatest music cities in the world. What are we doing trying to please everyone? Let's just please music.
"When we sat down with our architects for the first time we said "build us a hot sweaty hall. I want this to be a club, but for 23,500 people.
"So what people are going to see when they come in here is we built a music club. So for the artist, their fans, the experience and the acoustics will be perfect."
Harry Styles, who last week took a tour of the site with his mum, had helped design some of the finishes on the venue bowl, which has a 'black box' design devoid of big advertising hoardings to give it a more 'intimate' feel, Tim said.
But he said the music star had also helped design the back-of-house area for the artists, along with Tim's partner at OVG, music manager Irving Azoff, and the promoter Live Nation.
"The largest manager in the business, the largest artist in the business right now, the largest promoter in the business, and they all figured out how to make it a hot, sweaty hall. In front of the stage and back of the stage.
"The amount of expertise, knowledge and passion we have on this arena and this design, it's the best design I have ever seen and the proudest I have ever been."
The arena wouldn't be hosting events on the day or nights of City games, he added, but said the plan was for the arena and the neighbouring stadium to 'compliment each other.'
"I don't want to be a vacuum and suck the air out of the marketplace," he says. "We, and City Football Group, want Co-op Live to be a catalyst for economic rejuvenation in that part of Manchester.

under the sun | jjk
Tumblr media
The summer sun was nearly unbearable-
The suns rays scorched your skin, not to mention the air that was smoldering. The heavy heat made it difficult to breathe, much less work in these conditions.
Yet, here you were. You stood in the back of the greenhouse displacing your last order of the day. You worked quickly to transfer the last few calla lillies from their plots and into the arrangements. Calla lillies were the prettiest summer flowers, in your opinion.
A bunch had been ordered earlier in the day, and a nice lady on the phone reserved them for pickup- but that wasn't until after your shift. You grabbed the last of the arrangements and headed back into the store where you set them in the stand behind the counter. As another bead of sweet pearled between your brows, you felt your phone buzz in your back pocket.
jk ♡
you're headed home now right honey ? make sure to drink some water, its only getting warmer out here
A small smile bent your lips, and you quickly confirmed to your boyfriend that you were indeed clocking out and on your way back home.
Your boyfriend Jungkook was the sweetest and most caring man you had ever known in your life. He was also one of the busiest, and most talented men you have ever known. He toured the world, composed music, perfected dance routines, performed, and even in that never ending list of things he was responsible for, he still somehow managed to squeeze being your boyfriend into the very top echelon of his priorities.
The last few months had been rough, his group seemed to achieve levels of success they had never before pictured, and they were closing out on the biggest tour of their lives thus far. But Jungkook had let you know a few days ago that it all was coming to a close and as sad as he was that it was ending, he really could not wait to come home to you.
"-Mhm and guess what I found while we were in the city? That lego set you wanted, the orchid one!"
You had squealed in excitement, recalling the first time JK came home with a lego flower bouquet for you. After that night where you and him sat on the floor of the living room putting it together, sharing little kisses in between the lego pieces, you insisted you had to have the entirety of the botanical collection.
"I can't wait for you to see it, I really just can't wait to see you at all actually. I love what I do endlessly and I couldn't imagine my life any other way, but god I think I love you just as much. I've had a great time here but I just can't wait to hold you again. Guess what baby? I'll be home in only four days now!"
You walked home in bliss. The sun was blaring like it had been all day, beads of sweat dampened your scalp and god did your feet hurt from a busy day at the shop, but even just the thought of Jungkook was enough to satiate your discomforts.
Before you even recognized it you turned the corner onto your street and approached the home you shared with Jungkook, whenever he wasn't away that is. You reached to press your key into the lock and realized that strangely enough, the door wasn't locked at all.
This made your eyes grow just a bit, because you were sure you locked it on your way out for work. You gripped the mace on your keychain before meekly pressing on the door to open.
"There you are! I've been waiting for you for thirty minutes!"
"Jungkook!"
The minute his doe eyes met yours, it fully set in that he was sitting before you on the living room floor. On the coffee table in front of him sat a bouquet of calla lillies, the prettiest summer flowers, you always believed. Along with them were other small gifts he had picked up around the world that made him think of you, and lessened the ache of longing in his chest when he thought about how excited and thankful you would be to see them. The lego orchids were nearby as well.
You barreled towards him in a haze. Pebbles of tears had managed to fall from your eyes, and you launched yourself into his arms so forcefully it sent the two of you rolling backwards onto the floor.
"I missed you so much Koo, gosh you didn't tell me you were gonna be here earlier!" If you weren't so busy attacking his face, squished between your two palms now, with kisses on every surface of his skin you would have scolded him properly. Jungkook's laugh was his first response.
"I know bug, I just couldn't miss the chance to surprise you though. And I think getting here earlier has earned me some extra kisses,"
He raised his eyebrows at you in innocence, and you couldn't help but giggle at his cheesiness. "Whatever you want Koo."
Even though the summer was unbearable, and Jungkook had a long and dazing trip back. Even though you had worked all day in the greenhouse, with the sun perspiring on your skin, you and Jungkook remained tangled in each others arms on your living room floor for the next hour. You shared sweet kisses, ran your hands through his dark hair, and enjoyed the feeling of being returned to your rightful spot within your lovers embrace.
The relief of having each other so close after so long was one that was unspoken, but present between you and Jungkook on the living room floor. Unspoken, but present tears graced both of your faces, but smiles did too.

'It'll be the greatest music arena ever built': Manchester's Co-op Live boss gives exciting update on £365m venue - and how Harry Styles and Bruce Springsteen helped

For example, the new arena’s atrium, which can hold up to 4,000 people on its own, could be used for events before and after games as well as being able to be "turned into a nightclub" for events after gigs at the arena itself Tim said.
Co-op Live would become “not just a regional draw but an international draw” he added saying it would “help drive tourism, restaurants, hotels, nightlife” in the city centre.
And he said he hopes the venue will be a “catalyst” for more hospitality and entertainment venues opening around it in east Manchester.
“I don’t want to be a vacuum and suck the air out of the marketplace,” he says. “We, and City Football Group, want Co-op Live to be a catalyst for economic rejuvenation in that part of Manchester.
“If you think of points of destination in the world, where else do you have something like the Etihad Stadium, and an arena which is going one of the two or three best music arenas in the world, together? Where else do you see the rest of that development and ultimately have land to fill it in?
“But we do connect to the downtown area. We’re a mile from Piccadilly station and all the urban living and residential that is in between and which is moving towards the campus. We don’t want to suck the air of the downtown, we want to compliment it.”

41 Best Places To Visit In South Africa
Tumblr media
South Africa is a beautiful country with incredible landscapes, wildlife, and people. It’s a perfect destination for travelers who want to experience something new. South Africa is one of Africa’s top tourist destinations because it has wonderful cities, including Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban, that offer amazing experiences.
Cape Town is one of the most scenic cities in the world and it’s home to Table Mountain, which is the tallest mountain in Cape Town and one of the most photographed mountains in the world. Johannesburg is South Africa’s economic hub, and it’s known for having incredible museums and a vibrant nightlife scene.
Durban is South Africa’s largest port and it’s known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant art scene. South Africa also has incredible wildlife. It has Big Five game reserves, including Kruger National Park, which is home to Africa’s largest population of elephants. South Africa also has 11 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
It also has numerous game reserves, including Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, which is home to the world’s largest population of rhinos. Let’s explore this amazing country in detail.
Cape Town
Tumblr media
Located on the southwest coast of South Africa, the port city of Cape Town is nestled on a peninsula beneath the mountain called Table Mountain. From its flat top, you can take a rotating cable car for panoramic views of the harbor and city. From the top, you can also see the former prison of Nelson Mandela, now a living museum.
While the summer months are packed with visitors, springtime is a great time to visit Cape Town. This time of year offers great weather, lower prices, and few crowds. Daytime highs in spring are in the mid-70s Fahrenheit range. It’s still chilly on some days, but rainy days are few and far between. The weather in this season is ideal for outdoor activities and seeing the coastal blooms.
Aside from the sweeping views, Cape Town also offers a vibrant culture and a plethora of activities. It’s one of the few places where you can truly feel like a local. You can try hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, whale watching, or cage diving with great white sharks, among many others.
Johannesburg
Tumblr media
Whether you’re planning a safari or a layover on your next adventure, the city of Johannesburg is an amazing place to visit. It’s the largest city in South Africa and the busiest airport on the continent. It’s a great place for shopping and dining, and you can learn all about what to see and do while you’re in town.
While you’re in Johannesburg, be sure to visit the Apartheid Museum, where you can learn about the history of black people’s struggle for freedom. Visitors can view World War II fighter planes and medals, learn about war medicine, and witness life in the trenches during World War I.
This city also offers easy access to Pretoria, the country’s administrative capital, and the Cradle of Humankind, a UNESCO-listed paleoanthropological site.
Johannesburg is close to Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa, and the UNESCO-listed Cradle of Humankind.
Pretoria
Tumblr media
Pretoria is one of the country’s three capital cities and serves as the executive branch of government. In addition, the city is home to all foreign embassies in South Africa. Its neighboring cities are Cape Town and Bloemfontein, which are the legislative and judicial capitals.
For history buffs, a visit to the Union Buildings is a must-do. This building was designed by Sir Herbert Baker and opened in 1913. It houses the President’s office and is considered the executive seat of government. It features a grand view of the city and has beautiful gardens. While in Pretoria, you should also stop by the historic Voortrekker Monument.
If you’re interested in learning about South Africa’s history, you should visit the Boer War Monument, a museum, and a renovated blockhouse. The museum has interactive exhibits, a huge relief, and is surrounded by a green area. It’s worth paying a visit, even if it’s just for a short break.
The Union Buildings, where Nelson Mandela took the oath to become the president of South Africa, is another historical monument worth visiting.
The complex includes a meter-high statue of Mandela, placed in a symbolic stance facing the city. The statue is an impressive conversation piece. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to access this building, so you may want to book an Uber or use public transportation.
Franschhoek
Tumblr media
Visit Franschhoek in South Africa’s Western Cape for centuries-old vineyards, Cape Dutch architecture, and the Huguenot Memorial Museum. Hike the trails through the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve and enjoy views of the Franschhoek Valley. See vintage cars on display in the mountain farmland.
The town was once a sleepy country retreat, but a property boom in the 1990s led to a dramatic rise in property prices. The region is close to Cape Town and has ideal summer weather. The area is now one of the most sought-after residential addresses in South Africa. You can also visit the Bridge House School, which is outside of town.
Visitors to Franschhoek can hike or take a bike tour of the area. Hiking trails take visitors through vineyards and fields to the top of hills with spectacular views.
Franschhoek is also known as the gourmet capital of South Africa. Many of the town’s top restaurants are popular and book months in advance. Our favorite, Foliage, is a gorgeous place that features locally foraged ingredients. Another top-notch option is Le Quartier Francais, which serves a wide range of cuisines.
Soweto
Tumblr media
Soweto is home to some phenomenal Catholic churches, bike tours, local markets, and lush green farms. And, for those of you who prefer nightlife, there are plenty of bars and clubs to check out.
While you’re in Soweto, don’t miss a visit to the Apartheid museum, which is a must-see cultural experience. You’ll learn about the years of struggle in South Africa by visiting this museum.
Soweto is also home to the Nelson Mandela house, the Hector Pieterson Museum, and a number of popular restaurants. Download GPSmyCity on your smartphone and explore Soweto with ease. You’ll be able to get offline articles and a personal tour guide, and you can take advantage of the maps.
One of the most popular attractions in Soweto is the Nelson Mandela House, which was his home for fifteen years before being sentenced to prison. Now a National Heritage Site, the building is decorated with Mandela family memorabilia and gifts from dignitaries.
You can also visit the museum that commemorates the students who died during the 1976 student uprising. While there, you can get a feel for the underlying causes of the riots that swept the city.
Durban
Tumblr media
To get a taste of Africa, visit the coastal city of Durban in eastern South Africa. The city is a mix of African, Indian, and colonial influences. The city has a seafront promenade that was recently renovated for the 2010 World Cup. The city is also home to the Durban Botanical Gardens, which showcase African plants.
Bike rides along the promenade are a scenic way to explore the city. The journey can take up to three hours, and you can see the city’s landmarks such as the North Pier and the uShaka Marine World. For the adventurous, the city has some great water sports and a skydiving center. There is also the world’s tallest swing in the Moses Mabhida Stadium, and many other sights and activities to enjoy.
Another highlight of the Durban sightseeing tour is a visit to the city’s oldest botanical garden, which was founded in 1849. The gardens showcase plants and trees endemic to South Africa. Visitors can also visit the orchid house and view the spring-fed lake. Visitors can also admire the jacaranda trees that have been growing since the late 19th century.
Aside from the sea, Durban also boasts a diverse culture and cuisine. It is home to the largest concentration of Indian descendants outside of India, so it’s no surprise that the city is home to many Indian restaurants. Whether you’re looking for authentic Indian food or a taste of South African cuisine, Durban has something for everyone.
Kruger National Park
Tumblr media
The Kruger National Park is located in South Africa, in the Mpumalanga province. It is 250 miles (405 km) from Johannesburg. You can get to the park by air or by road. Getting there by road is easy, but you should make sure you have a vehicle that can handle the terrain.
The park is vast and unspoiled and it offers a variety of activities for visitors. There are bush walks, hiking trails, and safari rides. There is a good chance you’ll spot one of the Big Five if you visit the park. However, it’s also possible to get killed while in the park, although this is extremely rare.
The best time to visit the Kruger National Park is during the dry season, which falls between April and September. The temperatures during this period are comfortable, but temperatures can drop into the 40s overnight. Because of the low water levels and sparse vegetation, you’ll have a better chance of seeing animals.
The Drakensberg
Tumblr media
The Drakensberg Mountains are home to over two thousand examples of Bushman rock art, spread across 600 sites. Many of these paintings are centuries old.
Other highlights of this area include hiking and birdwatching. You can also participate in a variety of adventure activities like rock climbing and quad biking. The temperatures are pleasant during the day but can be cool at night.
There are several scenic national parks and game reserves in the Drakensberg Mountains. The Royal Natal National Park is particularly scenic, with its great differences in altitude. It also boasts over 300 species of birdlife. Among them is the endangered Cape vulture.
Blyde River Canyon
Tumblr media
If you are looking for an incredible natural wonder, you need to Visit Blyde River Canyon. This amazing place is filled with stunning rock formations and plenty of wildlife. It is also home to the famous Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Pinnacle Rock.
The Drakensberg mountain range surrounds the canyon. The canyon is a deep cleft created when Gondwanaland split apart around 200 million years ago when Antarctica and Madagascar broke away from Africa.
The Blyde River Canyon is an excellent location for birdwatching. There are many rare species of birds that can be seen. Some of these species include the Pel’s fishing owl, blue swallow, and Taita falcon. The best viewpoint in the canyon is God’s Window, a set of seven hundred-meter-high cliffs with panoramic views of the Lowveld and Kruger National Park.
To see the canyon, you can hire a car and drive from Johannesburg. If you are unsure of your driving skills, you can also take a Bazz bus tour or book a package tour. To see the most of the canyon, it’s best to drive along the R534 loop, a 15-kilometer road, which allows you to take in all of the major attractions.
You can also enjoy hiking, fly fishing, and hot air balloon rides. You’ll be amazed at the incredible biodiversity in this area. This region is home to many species of fish, antelope, crocodiles, and almost every species of primate in South Africa.

Millenia ago, when the Fey Forest first came to be, a humble race lived within. They took up beekeeping and worked to preserve the natural beauty of the great forest. Over the centuries of evolution, their dedication to this task was rewarded as the fey magic worked its way into them, slowly turning the keepers into bees themselves.
Now, the beefolk still work to preserve the forests. With their bulbous, insectoid eyes and their animated antennae, beefolk are often a frightening sight to those who don’t know about them. Small in stature, with squat, round, hair-covered bodies and nimble limbs, these friendly little folk answer only to their queens.
Hail the Queen
Each hive of beefolk has its own queen. The queen is the beefolk of the hive with the greatest connection to the Fey, and will often make great journeys to engage in meetings of minor feyfolk and offer her people’s services in return for a favour. Beefolk value the preservation of the natural beauty of their worlds as much as their queen’s wisdom, earning them a place as one of the few feyfolk that holds some form of law in high regard.
When a queen dies, the hive works hard to select a replacement as soon as they can. The chosen beefolk must then seek out some more powerful fey and seek their approval before they can take their place as queen.
Hive Cities
Beefolk live in massive hives constructed on and around some of the grandest trees in the ancient Fey Forest, each the size of a small human city and packed with beefolk. Each family lives in a comb, and each comb contains a regular-sized beehive full of regular bees. The collection of nectar and the production of honey is a difficult one for a race so much larger than natural bees, and the original remains superior in this case.
Something the beefolk excel at, however, is the spreading of pollen. Whenever they aren’t doing tasks set out by their queen to ensure the upkeep of their hive, most beefolk are delighted to spend their free time playing in flower fields. This fills the dense hair covering them with pollen, which is then spread wherever the beefolk flies, ensuring large amounts of flowers bloom near a hive.
Nature's Defenders
While beefolk are usually a peaceful, friendly people, this does not mean they are defenseless. If someone were to make any attempt to damage their hive, their queen, or even the beauty in the world around their hive, the attacker must prepare to face the swarm. Beefolk warriors are often willing to fight to their last breath to ensure the safety of their home and people.
Beefolk Names
The Beefolk still carry with them some lingering threads of their old ways, as seen in their names. Some traces of Gnome or Halfling can be seen, but now they favour hard consonants such as B or Z over softer sounds.
Beefolk also consider their hives to be their only family, and will also take on their queen’s name as a marker of their hive.
Masculine Names: Azziun, Bire, Gabbel, Hebz, Kinve, Obize, Zeer
Feminine Names: Avis, Cibes, Hinze, Ibfee, Loz, Nizze, Tibze
Beefolk Traits
Beefolk have a small variety of abilities granted to them by their bee-like nature, which gives them advantages in their lives in the forest.

Age. Beefolk mature slightly faster than humans, reaching adulthood around 15, and live for approximately 80 years.
Alignment. Beefolk societies answer to their queen wholly, valuing her word as much as they value the preservation of their homes. As such, beefolk tend towards Law, while they avoid Evil alignments.
Size. Beefolk stand between 2 and 3 feet tall and rarely weigh more than 30 pounds. Your size is Small.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
Flight. You have a flying speed of 35 feet. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armour.

Stinger. As an action on your turn, you can make an attack with your stinger. This counts as an unarmed strike and deals 1d4 plus your strength modifier piercing damage.
Swarm Advantage. You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.
Speak with Insects. Through sounds and movements of antennae, you can communicate and understand simple ideas with Small or smaller insects.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan.

RomanPunk#754 – Louisa Capitolinus
Tumblr media
Born in 395 AD in Rome, Louisa Capitolinus, illegitimate daughter of Emperor Theodosius I and the last Vestal Virgin, was raised in secrecy at the Temple of Jupiter. During the sack of Rome in 410 AD, Louisa escaped through an interdimensional portal where she served as a centurion in an alternate matriarchal timeline.
ATTRIBUTES
ID#: 754/1000 Name: Louisa Capitolinus Race: Roman Type: Centurion Avatar Rarity: Common WAX Rarity: Common Class: Fighter Attack: 7 Defense: 8 Speed: 9 Tagline: “You may have to fight a battle in multiple dimensions to win it.”
LORE
Date of Birth: 395 AD Place of Birth: Rome Backstory:
Louisa Capitolinus was born during turbulent times in 395 AD. Her mother, Concordia Capitolinus, was known as the last Vestal Virgin after Emperor Gratian confiscated the revenues of the order in 382 AD, effectively ending the Cult of Vesta. Concordia begged the next Emperor, Theodosius I, to reinstate the order, who demanded she sleep with him in return. For years, she refused the Emperor’s advances, yet finally submitted to him on a trip to Mediolanum. Months later, Theodosius died of a disease involving severe edema, and Concordia was left to hide in the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus to raise her child in secrecy.
Louisa and her mother lived in harmony and secrecy in the temple on Capitoline Hill until 410 AD during the famous sack of Rome. As the Visigoths looted, burned, raped and pillaged their way across the great city of Rome, an interdimensional time portal at the Temple of Jupiter opened, providing immediate access to infinite timelines. As the ravaging Goths approached, Concordia pushed her beautiful virgin daughter into the swirling abyss rather than see her violated by the invaders.
Louisa fell flat on the hard marble floor as the swirling blue portal disappeared behind her. Immediately she noticed the tiles surrounding the large chamber were clear and spotless not tarnished, chipped and stained as she remembered moments ago. Hearing women’s voices approaching from the adjacent chamber, and with nowhere to escape, Louisa rose to meet them head on. The women were dressed like soldiers, fitted with armor, capes and brandishing short swords. Both were of average height and build. “Well, well, well, lookie’ what we have here”, said the dark haired one on the left. “Another deserter!” Centurion Alexa is going to be pleased when she sees us haul you in chains!”

BEHOLD, THE BRIDEGROOM
1927
Tumblr media
Behold, the Bridegroom is a three-act play by George Kelly. It was originally produced by Rosalie Stewart and directed by Mr. Kelly. It starred Judith Anderson.
Producer Rosalie Stewart had to arrange for the loan of Anderson with her manager, David Belasco. Rehearsals began the first week in November 1927.
The play takes place at the Lyle Estate at Shadow Brook, just beyond the city line.
Antoinette Lyle, a wealthy, high-living young woman begins to have second thoughts about her wanton ways when she meets a sensitive young man who intrigues her. By the time they meet again, she has fallen seriously ill.
The title is found in the Bible.
“...and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go forth to meet him!” ~ MATTHEW 25:6
Kelly originally considered calling the play Till the Day of Her Death, which is also Biblical.
“....As to Michal, daughter of Saul, she had no child till the day of her death.” ~ 2 SAMUEL 6:23
George Kelly (1887-1974) was a prolific playwright who was also Grace Kelly’s uncle. He was the author of Reflected Glory, The Show Off, The Torchbearers, and Craig’s Wife, among others.
Judith Anderson (1897-1992) was an Australian actress who had a successful career in stage, film and television. She won two Emmy Awards and a Tony Award and was also nominated for a Grammy Award and an Academy Award. In 1960 she was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II.
Tumblr media
“I will not become one of those caricatures of women that I’m running into all over the world - disillusioned and divorced, and married and divorced again - like a lot of horrible monkeys!” ~ ANTOINETTE LYLE in BEHOLD, THE BRIDEGROOM
Tumblr media
The play opened at the Apollo Theatre on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City on November 28, 1927.
With two weeks between The Great Wooden and the Great White Ways, the play polished further at Cort-Jamaica Theatre in Brooklyn.
Tumblr media
Behold, the Bridegroom opened on Broadway on December 26th at the Cort Theatre (now the James Earl Jones Theatre).
Tumblr media
The night opened on what has been called ‘the busiest night in Broadway history’, sharing attention with 10 (!) other plays having their first performances. This was later blamed for the play’s short run. Other Broadway plays debuting on Boxing Day 1927 include:
Bless You, Sister at the Forrest Theatre
Venus at the Theatre Masque
Celebrity at the Lyceum Theatre
Paradise at the 48th Street Theatre
It Is To Laugh at Eltinge 42nd Street Theatre
L'Aiglon at the Cosmopolitan Theatre
Excess Baggage at the Ritz Theatre
White Eagle at the Casino Theatre
Mongolia at the Greenwich Village Theatre / Mansfield Theatre
Restless Women at the Morosco Theatre
“Fannie Hurst, the popular Manhattan writer of novels, stories, and plays, is believed to have set a precedent recommended to vainer and more self-conscious playwrights. The other night her new comedy ‘It Is to Laugh,’ opened. Between acts cries of 'Author!' went up. Looking about the theater, it was found she could not be located. An usher, dispatched to solve the mystery, returned with a report that she was down street, attending George Kelly's new play, ‘Behold, the Bridegroom' which, say old-timers, is something quite new under the sun.” ~ GILBERT SWAN
During the month of December 1927, Broadway hosted 17 plays and musicals.
Tumblr media
It moved to the Majestic Theatre in February 1928. It closed in March after 88 performances. After Broadway, the play, headed by Anderson, moved to the Shubert in Boston, playing there through the end of March 1928.
The play’s ambiguous, somewhat mystical ending was also blamed for its short stay on the Rialto.
The play was chosen by Burns Mantle to be published in his Best Plays of 1927 collection. It was also short-listed for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
In 1988, the play was revived off-off-Broadway on 42nd Street by the Heritage Theatre Company.

LifeOr... Aesthetic Feelings and Abstract Concepts
Tumblr media
Read the inspired lyric Long-Exposed Pictures
Dear advertisers, from someone who’s not on the branch anymore, I'm sorry but I hate how you think you can simply add the word “experience” to a piece and make everything magically irresistible. Spoiler: you can't. An experience can’t just be stated as one; it needs to be felt as such. It's an aesthetic feeling, an abstract concept. It's not a word that can be thrown out carelessly because it has to mean something, and make you feel a certain type of way. with your senses coming alive in the aftermath. Sorry, but that can’t be achieved just by adding a word; it requires action.
That doesn’t mean it needs to be something huge, great, or mind-blowing. For example, I find the most fulfilling experience just to walk on the street of my favorite buzzingly bright city, while listening and singing my favorite tune. Or to sit in a subway station (or, from a more usual perspective, a park) to read a book and watch people go on with their lives (secretly hoping to be noticed as well). They say it’s the simple things, and I couldn’t agree more.
An experience for me is something that makes me bittersweetly want both to treasure the moment in secrecy, keeping it forever to myself; and to share it with someone that would understand the beauty that lies beneath what normal eyes usually sees. Like walking on a cold street by myself in the middle of the night, feeling free but hopeless. Like wondering how it would be to have another shadow dancing with me under streetlights. Or driving with nowhere to go, just for the sake of driving. Or lying in a hotel room with lots of questions running wild in my head, only to end up asking “what are you thinking?” as if the whole course of the world could be defined by a simple, yet impossible, question.
Cherish these moments is all I can ever ask for life. It reminds me of when I was younger and I had sticker books that I would fill up with images from my favorite fantasy movie, that I would collect everyday to make the album complete. Just like that, I like to collect moments in life. And I crave the moment when my whole life will be an experience in itself. I imagine myself as the only cool living boy in New York, with a journal on my hand, just in case something beautiful appears to beg me to keep it forever remembered in my writings; and with a camera hanging around my neck just in case something beautiful appears to beg me to froze its essence for posterity.
While I’m not there, I’m taking my overpriced Starbucks coffee as I walk the busiest avenue I know, not waiting to live my Pinterest kind of life. Then I’ll go back home and open the notes app to write a song. It will make me always remember my feelings, in the event that I need to remind myself how blessed I am and how hurts and cuts are healed by a magic thing called time. That makes me wonder, maybe my life could be an interesting commercial. Advertisers, call me if you read this.

Lady C Tea YouTube 10/19/23 (a few nuggets paraphrased by me) by u/daisybeach23
Lady C Tea YouTube 10/19/23 (a few nuggets paraphrased by me) Greetings Castle Goring!Lady C, why are they being escorted by US customs and border protection? They are not working royals and they are on holiday. Here they are, leaking photos and stories everywhere they go. And why do they need to pay an agency to rebrand her? You can out lipstick on a pig but it remains a pig. First of all, she has WME and they are all hoping to make money off her. I have been told that optimism no long remains as it was at the beginning. Megsy baby is evidently no good at taking instructions or following a brief. And she certainly knows better than Ari Emmanuel. And of course she knows better than Ari Emmanuel. You know, he is just a reasonably successful agent. And his brother is an ambassador. They are both great powers in the Democratic organization. And its just not clicking as they hoped it would. I can tell you that I have had the privilege to travel as a VIP. You are often greeted by customs and whisked off the plane. It is done to many sorts of people who are common VIP’s like me. If it happens to me, it will happen to His Majesty The King’s second son. Harry and Meghan are not accorded full royal privileges. They are not allowed to visit British embassies or residences. But they will be accorded VIP privileges as many, many VIP’s do. I am not sure what will happen when Harry becomes the King’s brother, rather than son. Will William demand that all royal courtesies not be extended to Harry? Probably. Even the Windsor’s were not denied VIP status by the Royal Family.Lady C, I live in Atlanta Georgia, the city that Harry and Meghan were photographed en route back from their tropical, no kids vacation. LOL…LOLLLLL….I can assure you that they hired a photographer to photograph them at the airport. You don’t say!!! My goodness I am surprised. I never thought they would do such a thing. First of all, the airport here is one of the busiest in the world. The security is tight. Also, Atlanta does not have paparazzi. Nobody is lurking in the shadows of our airport. Atlanta does have famous residents and visitors but they are never photographed here unless it is planned. Tyler Perry and Mariah Carey have homes here and we never see photographs of them. Nobody is lingering in the shadows at Atlanta airport. Thank you for this. I have received many comments similar. You know it is amazing how Harry is snapped everywhere he goes but his brother, the future King can run in Central Park and nobody snaps him. But you know Harry and Meghan, ooops the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are soooooo famous. Lady C, Archewell says they have donated to the World Kitchen but their tax forms show no donation to the World Kitchen. And the World Kitchen does not show a donation from Harry and Meghan. Typical.

Our last day in Tokyo
I am behind - but not too far behind...
I am writing this July 1st as we cruise through the countryside on a bullet train heading to Nagoya.  No one can even image that we are traveling at these speeds as the ride is smooth as silk.
Tumblr media
Our big luggage is being shipped to Kyoto and we will re-unite in 3 days.
June 30 - Our last full day in Tokyo.
We started the day today at the Taiko drum studio.  These are traditional Japanese drums and they are quite sensational.  We were taught and entertained by a young woman and magnificant drummer.  I love this kinda’s stuff and we have been to a Taiko Drum performance by Kodo long ago in Ann Arbor.
Tumblr media
The Japanese word taiko means simply ‘drum’ in English, signaling how deep taiko’s roots go in Japanese culture. Over the years, taiko has taken on extra meaning and now also refers to various Japanese drums known collectively as wadaiko, or to an ensemble drum performance.
These big drums are made from a solid piece of oak that is hollowed out.  Cow hide is stretched on the top and bottom and tuned.  After achieving the tone desired they hide in nailed down and the stretching cords removed.  The small drums are stretched and tuned with a medal bolt.
The black drum body is made from staves - like a barrel - and the hide is stretched with cords.
youtube
We had a great concert and then she led us in a little lesson.  It was so much fun.
Tumblr media
Today is rainy and overcast - but it is a welcome change from this heat in the 90s.  It actually felt great this AM and I opted for a hat instead of an umbrella and enjoyed the cooling rain that soaked my shirt.
After drumming we walked to see the the Sensoji Temple and Shinto Shrine.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I specially loved the people dressed in kimonos.
Tumblr media
Someone asked us what is the traditional clothing of the US.  Good question - huh?  I guess the honest answer would be the beautiful regalia of the Native Americas - but that would change by region.
We had lunch by the river and then took the metro to the Shibuya Crossing - which apparently is the busiest street crossing in the world.
Tumblr media
i confess not being so excited by this - but others were - so there you go. From here we went to the Imperial Palace home of Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. Emperor Naruhito is the 136th Emperor of Japan BUT he has only one child and sadly that child is just a lowly female - so she can not inherit the throne (I'll be right back, I need to vomit!). On Emperor Naruhito's death, his brother will inherit the throne and if the brother does not out live the current emperor his nephew will be the man. UNBELIEVABLE!!! But then it appears we are going in back in time in lots of ways....sigh....
Of course we could not go in the palace - but we did walk around the grounds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dinner was on our own and I opted to go with Anson, Shannon, Jim, Maxine and Ken out on the town to find sushi. We are in the most expensive high end area of Tokyo - Ginza. Need a new Rolex or are your Pradas scuffed - this is place. You are greeted at the door by men in tuxedos and taken to the department of your hearts desire. Not exactly how I shop....
Anyway - we walked all over until we found this great little sushi place and let me say - YUM!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The night was young for some people at the table - but NOT for Ken and I and we headed back to the hotel. Anson is getting exposed to the big city and the number of strip clubs near our hotel. But the group just walked around and felt the beat of the nightlife but were back at the hotel by 10:00 PM. Ahhhhh - the big city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But they did see some amazing "billboards" - like the 3-D kitty. Cool huh? Tomorrow we leave Tokyo to explore other parts of Japan. Stay tuned.

BGM: Beastie Boys - Hey Ladies
Once I read Koutarou Sawaki, a Japanese popular journalist, and found this question in his writing. "Men and women. From which have you learned the important things in your life?". Of course, now is the diversity age so this kind of "too simple" question can be uncool or "out of fashion". Can we divide the human beings as men and women simply? ...But I like this question so try to answer. My life, who have influenced it a lot until now? When I was a child, I had been hated and bullied by girls. My generation was not the one which is based on any diversity, so the people had thought as "Men should be men" and "Men have to support/save women". That was the common sense of our era. I was not masculine, and also really poor at doing sports so the girls had treated me as a creepy creature. They treated me as a sissy boy with laughing. They also said to me as "creepy" and "wacky"... so I don't have any beautiful/sweet first love memory. I have never thought that I had a licence to love someone else... although this is like a story of the Smith's bangers.
And the time has changed... I had started working at the current company. My female boss had treated me terribly. I had to face various miserable events. Although I always think that misogyny is just a crap, at somewhere in my mind I might think as "Women must be suspicious" and "They have two faces. One is the dutiful face and the other is just a bitch". Yes, this is not any realistic or rational stance of thinking, but I tend to think that "Women are bothersome to go with"... But life is fair. I can remember that the women had helped me a lot when I had been in troubles deeply. The woman I met in my 30s. She suggested me that I am autistic. And in my 40s I met another woman, who changed me by her severe and honest comment "You shouldn't blame yourself in such a terrible way anymore". Now, I am working with a job coach woman who has been one of the precious mentors for me... It seems my life has been rolled with that connections with various wonderful women. Now I am enjoying communication with a Russian friend, Victoria. And also I am enjoying the host woman in an English saloon. Unbelievable!
On Twitter, I learned that a friend of mine I trust and respect weaved his best 10 books in the first half of 2023. I started weaving that list in my way... At the first half of this year, I had to quit my work. It was really hard time. I had to face my "beasty" and "lusty" mental and physical desire... And I read Junichiro Tanizaki's "Naomi" and Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita". I also thought/weaved my own dream in this period. I also read Ryuichi Sakamoto's autobiography because of the news he had passed away. I enjoyed Haruki Murakami's new one (it is great). I weaved that "I wanna be a bridge person who connects Shiso city and the world". It was a big, great, important change in this half. I am living with the attitude of "Don't Look Back In Anger" somewhere in my mind. But I need to do this kind of clearance/inventory. It must be important for me.
This evening I had an English conversation class. There, today we enjoyed the topic of the lesson of "your dream summer holidays" a lot. How many days/months do you want as summer holidays? If you could get, then what you would do? (you choose staying home to enjoy reading/watching? Or you would go traveling?). At my workplace summer is the busiest season in the year so we can't get any summer holidays. If I could get, I would take a week trip to my parents' house. I want to eat eels with my parents (we Japanese eat eels and rice as great summer food). If I would go to somewhere, I want to go to Taiwan and Hong Kong. A friend of mine on MeWe had recommended me to go to New Zealand and I have been interested in. After that conversation/lesson, we enjoyed a game. "Two truths and one lie". This is the one that a participant says three things (two truths and one lie), and the other member try to answer which is correct. I said to everyone as "I graduated Waseda", "I had been worked as a HOST", and "I have never seen a ghost". They got confused... and I answered "TBH I have never worked as a HOST". They got surprised a lot. But, then which was the thing surprised them? This truth as "I have never worked as a HOST"? Or another one as "I graduated Waseda"?.
