But Tony speaking only in internet memes from the early days of the internet.

Tony looking at the Guardians and thinking, You gotta have the blue hair, in Strong Bad's voice (even though none of them the blue hair).

But Tony didn't grow up with the internet - he's from the seventies - you have Wanda and Pietro born in 1989, you've got the Young Avengers they're introducing (but even they're too young for Badger Badger Badger (see, and now I'm thinking of the twins speaking in memes) and Homestar Runner) - but you can still have the twins unironically liking the Numa Numa song because they can understand it - and Nat can, too - but Pietro tries to do the Numa Numa dance with her and she just. it does not connect.

UGH GENERATIONAL GAPS.

Give me Hulk yelling TROGDOR sometimes instead of HULK SMASH or even Banner making a reference to the Hulk burninating the countryside (even though, technically, that's not what he does).

Give me Agatha getting addicted to Happy Tree Friends and South Park (or showing How To Kill A Mockingbird to Billy and Tommy instead of the wholesome shows Wanda leaves on for them).

Give me their old Xanga, MySpace, or LiveJournal accounts. Give me the quotes they had at the top, give me their usernames, give me the playlists they had going in the background and the html fiddling they did - give me one of them learning html just because they want their page to look right.

Peter trying to start up a YouTube gaming account - and not knowing any of these old references because he's too young, he's so young - which leads into give me Wanda or Pietro, who are a decade older than him the way that Sam is a decade older than them the way that Tony is almost a decade older than him - give me Pietro teaching Peter the older memes, give me how that spreads from Peter to his friends, how sometimes they just spontaneously Numa Numa dance on the bus or at dances, how they go through old Homestar Runner videos and just "it's DOT COM" - give me the shift and exchange of memes to the younger generations!

Stephen with Always stuck in his head because sometimes he uses Rainbow Unicorn Attack to sharpen his reflexes. Having flashbacks to the song and showing it to America and finding a bootleg copy of it because it's there and then she's addicted to it and uses it to settle her brain when she can't focus.

How many of them had Neopets accounts? Or Club Penguin? How many of them played with the Barbie decorating game when they were tiny? How many of them remember the first YouTube accounts? How many of them met on those old chat boards and didn't know until later - oh, so you're -?

Tony setting up Jarvis so that whenever he gets a text message it makes the AOL "You've Got Mail!" sound - or having it in there initially and then scrubbing it out when AOL dies (or having scrubbed it out because it was too much, putting it back in when AOL dies, and then scrubbing it out again because it really is too much).

Give me Wanda who, when Agatha says she's a witch, asks her if she means like the Charmed Ones or Willow or Sabrina because those are the witches she knows - what kind of witch are we talking about here? (Of course, she brings up Bewitched, but that's not the only witch.)

Give me Nat finding Wanda thriving on older sitcoms and introducing her to stuff that came out while she was being experimented on.

Give me neighbor Wilson or Feeney references.

when I was 12, 13 years old, before Youtube came into existence and took over our cultural consciousness, I got my sweet sweet meme content from a website called pointlesssites.com*. true to its name, it was just a long list of links to various webpages that were functionally pointless, but highly entertaining. flash cartoons, games, therapeutic doodling sites, weird one-off pages (I recall one page containing nothing but a gif of an animated rube goldberg machine, accompanied by some midi music). the list updated weekly, and every time it felt like I was reaching into a grabbag of odd little treasures.

most importantly, that site was where I first encountered the ancient Memes of Yore... numa numa... all your base are belong to us... badger mushroom snake... yes, it was a simple time.

Sometimes people take things further than necessary. But if your response to people being critical of you is defensiveness and passive-aggressiveness, why bother bettering yourself at all? These are opportunities to learn. Some people literally cannot read into jokes or situations, and your manner of response is almost entirely dismissive of that. Even if it's some joke, is that really more important than how it might affect someone?

Let me break down this situation so that we can pull apart just how out of their way people are going to get angry about this:

Someone on tumblr once jokingly “mistook” me for The Numa Numa Guy when I made a joke video referencing it (and I cannot believe I have to outright explain this, but THE JOKE IS FUNNY BECAUSE I AM OBVIOUSLY NOT THE NUMA NUMA GUY, I LOOK NOTHING LIKE HIM AND WAS A LITERAL CHILD WHEN THE ORIGINAL VIDEO WAS MADE), this barrelled off into a few more jokes where I photoshopped my head onto his body, and a lot of people on here apparently have a faint memory of the meme but blindly believed I was legitimately actually Gary Brolsma.

It’s been a rich comedy vein and it’s been genuinely hilarious to see how much basic fact-checking people here refuse to do on something that could not possibly be more clearly false.

I’ve kept up the joke for months in-character because it’s still funny, but recently people are apparently getting legitimately angry when I point out it’s simply a matter of common sense; every single one of my main urls (yo-its-matt, mshelley-art, mshelley-portfolio) and even my bio have my name in it, I post photos and videos of my face pretty regularly, and while I understand sarcasm is sometimes difficult to detect without context I typically go absolutely over the top when being sarcastic in response to “but are you ACTUALLY the Numa Numa Guy” asks.

I’ve gotten angry asks over the past couple of weeks about it, it’s getting increasingly worse and more hostile (hence my tone in the previous response).

This is not something I need to learn or grow in relation to, this is something that started out genuinely hilarious that’s been blown completely out of proportion because people do not bother to fucking use common sense. I’ve given every possible opportunity for people to make the logical conclusion that I’m obviously not Gary Brolsma with how I represent myself and how I respond to asks.

What started out as a source of dumb, harmless levity has now had every goddamn drop of life sucked out of it and been turned into something stressful. Thanks for ruining it.

The Emotional Weight of Star Wars, Anakin Skywalker, and Kylo Ren

It’s the year 2001. I was in 4th grade - sitting in the same exact seat that I’d soon find myself sitting in when my teacher explained what had happened on 9/11. Every month, our teacher passed out the TIME for Kids magazine, and I read it voraciously every time. Other kids would casually look at the pictures, but I’d read each article carefully - some even more than once.

In this particular issue, there was an article about Hayden Christensen - the new Anakin Skywalker. I’d seen all of the original Star Wars movies, and The Phantom Menace. I loved them, and I’d sometimes beg my dad to dig out or VHS set so I could watch them on weekends. I don’t remember what my exact thoughts were on Episode I, but I do remember thinking that I loved Padme because she was like Leia - even at that age, I wasn’t content with the way women were portrayed in media. For example, I had months and months of my childhood where I pretended that I was Xena: Warrior Princess, and lived inside of a box in my living room that I pretended was my “lair”, and ate jello because it looked like ambrosia. 

Padme and Leia were different - they were so strong, and they didn’t care what anyone else thought. At a New Year’s Eve Party in 1999 (soon to be 2000), I remember playing “war” with a group of my friends who were boys, and their little sister. “You can be a nurse”, they said, and handed me a first aid kit while they ran around with toy guns, shooting one another. I remember picking up one of the guns off of the floor and shooting each of them directly in the forehead before throwing it to the side and walking away, as if to say “amateurs”. 

Back to the TIME article. It was introducing Hayden as the adult Anakin Skywalker - we didn’t know much about him at all, but I immediately liked him because fourth grade me thought he was cute. Go me.

By the time Episode II came out, I went to see it with my dad, and I remember him remarking on how interesting the Anakin character was. I told him how he was Canadian, and some of the other facts I’d learned in the magazine. Looking back on it, wonders never cease that little me was also ahead of the Star Wars game - if only I would have known.

By the time Episode III came out, I was old enough to go by myself with my friends. I saw it three or four times, and used my allowance and birthday money to do so. And here’s where things changed for me.  1) That shirtless scene. Oh, yes, we’d had one in Episode II, but I wasn’t old enough to really think about it. By the time 2005 rolled around, I was starting out this whole angst phase where I did nothing but watch Episodes II and III repeatedly, and watch Store Wars on whatever video platform I could find it on at the time. (This was around the same time that the Numa Numa guy was doing all that for those of you that will get that reference.) 

2) The FALL. Anakin’s fall. It was the first time I’d ever watched a character go through this before. Right before our eyes, he made decisions that he thought would lead to an outcome he wanted - a better outcome - and he failed. He turned. He became this iconic villain that had always existed, and was EVERYWHERE. And Hayden did it so well. People can scream and cry and laugh at Hayden’s performance all they want, but that boy WAS Anakin Skywalker. He was everything he was supposed to be - if they didn’t like it, then they didn’t like the character - because his portrayal was flaw.less.

3) Padme and Anakin I distinctly remember having some kind of family gathering where my aunt said “and obviously some things happened off screen if she’s having babies now” and I was SCANDALIZED. I was like “how dare you talk about my characters like that? Clearly it happened but they are MY characters, I know their souls, why are YOU talking about them?” I was so oddly territorial, even then. But I’d spent so much time contemplating all of their motives, emotions, and just who they were - that they felt so incredibly real to me. 

Even though Anakin and Padme’s relationship eventually led to the creation of Darth Vader, I still wanted what they had in Episode II. The obsession, possession, the passion, the drive. The Star-Crossed lovers.

When I was fifteen, I got that. The height difference. The “I know where you are in the room without having to search for you”. The “I called you just now as you’re walking away from me just so I could watch you pick up the phone”. The strange, unnerving connection. Looking back on it, he even remotely LOOKED like Hayden. He moved like Hayden. He talked like Hayden - but I was the Anakin. I had so much going on in my life - so much baggage, so much angst in my teenage soul, I had never related to a character more than I related to him, and to this day I’m not 100% sure if that was a self-fulfilling prophecy or not. And just like Anakin and Padme, it all went up in flames in a day. Every single bit of it - laced with death and destruction, and that changed me. It split who I was to the core, and I walked into the abyss as everything turned to ash around me. I’m not kidding. That sounds dramatic, but I can’t say any more about what happened because it’s just too much to deal with and explain, but I eventually found solace in Star Wars. 

I watched II and III so often I still have every line memorized. I watched every single movie Hayden had ever been involved with, because his acting style and persona were oddly comforting to me even after Star Wars was over. He was familiar. 

Flash forward to 2014. Another Star Wars movie is coming out. There’s an image of a character dressed in black, in the snow, with a lightsaber that resembles some kind of crusade weapon. Everyone makes fun of it, makes memes where the cross vents are EVERYWHERE. What an absolutely ridiculous character? Whatever, I’ll see it. But nothing will ever measure up to what Anakin’s character meant to me when I was a teenager.

2015. There’s a trailer. Okay, Darth Emo? Again, who is this ridiculous person? 

December 17, 2015: I somehow saw a leak of this ridiculous person stabbing Han Solo with a message that this was his son. Excuse me? Again - not what I expected from Star Wars.

December 19, 2015 4:45pm: I emerged from the theater wanting to cry. Just... 1000% flabbergasted because they’d given me something I never thought I’d find. A character that I’d relate to equally if not more so than I did to Anakin when I was 13 years old. 

I was in such a strange place in my life when The Force Awakens came out. A second puberty, if you will. It was awful? Everything felt wrong? I didn’t know my place. I was wrought with anxiety. And here was this character who had this aesthetic that hearkened back to the days when I’d sit in the corner at school and draw on my vans, wear all black, and listen to Panic! at the Disco and AFI like it was my religion, while at the same time relating all-to-well to Anakin Skywalker. This character loved Anakin and was his grandson, and I felt like I’d been given the biggest gift and I had no idea that this seemingly-ridiculous creature from the trailer would have such an impact on my life.

To boot - this character was just plain badass? Everything about him was beautiful and tortured, and dark but laced with fear and possibly - good intentions buried deep beneath the mask? And his actor was beautiful as well. So incredibly stunning, and deep, and carried him so well he felt real.

The lightsaber though - that’s what got me. I felt so unstable at this point in my life - the lightsaber was such a metaphor. Jagged, unfinished, unstable. I too, felt that if I carried one, it would have these characteristics. 

I felt belonging again. This character gave me peace by bringing me discord and letting me drown in it.

December 14, 2017, 10:45pm: Peace. i’d waited two years to see what would happen to Kylo Ren - Ben Solo, and once again I feel like our journeys are similar. Although I still have many demons to face, and many lessons to learn, I’m in a better place. A more stable place. Where I felt trauma I now feel at peace, even though I have days where I feel completely out of control. 

His trajectory though, is clear. Rey, and redemption. I’m also amazed that it’s all so Byronic and/or Pride and Prejudice-y - what a gift? What an absolutely beautiful gift? How Hades and Persephone? After what I’d been through in those rough years where I felt like Anakin after he’d lost everything, I was amazed at how emotionally invested I was in Rey and Ben, because there’s clearly something there. Snoke, schmoke - that Force Bond is theirs. The idea that they’ll create balance is so freaking beautiful, and it made me want that for myself as well.

I don’t know what form it will take, but I know that in 2 years I feel like I will be so much more at peace with my own life, but also - this time there’s not as much wondering. I was so worried about what they’d do with this character, and the emotional weight he carries in the story and for so many people around the world - other than the concept of the fact that he’s just plain cool to most, or “Darth Millenial” to others. 

Anakin and Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) have a strange amount of value to me, I’m aware, but I just wanted to share the power of storytelling, and how it can truly get you through the best of times, the worst of times, and everything in between.

1. What’s your favorite thing about your muse(s)?

Oh goddess I’ve answered this twice already, but here’s me gushing over his clothes, cuz the face is just cute. There’s just surprisingly okay/good design with Momotaro that is overlooked because of all the pretty ladies that do the fan-service.

2. What’s your least favorite thing?

About Momo? Or ever? I would say losing close friends, over drama. That’s impacted me a lot, and why I can get really anxious over rping. But if you mean an actual object/show, then disposed (but there’s still notable remnants) food. Y’know the stuff in the trash. I’m allergic to bananas and that’s the most common thing rotting in the there. Makes it real tough to breathe, particularly when it comes to class too.

Don’t worry, I do have an inhaler for those sorts of things but...it’s only one inhaler and I end up mixing up where I last placed it. I just hope to the goddess that I don’t have to deal with a disposed peel during class...

3. Seeing how they’ve lived their lives - if you were in their shoes, what would you do differently?

Honestly, I’m not too sure. I would’ve said I wanted to speak up against the others (i.e. bullies, the girls) more often, but that’s just against Momotaro’s nature...and how Japan culture works. Also I would totally try to (re)tame Momotaro’s mutated friends. Come on, that Chimera is awesome! Let the boy have an awesome steed!

4. How independent is your muse(s) from your control? How much do you approve of their actions? 

Hoh boy, usually I’m like “Momo no”, so that’s pretty clear that I don’t have all le controls over him. He’s simple minded so there’s not much I would need to fuss over, I suppose. HOWEVER, I do have to restrain ourselves from doing too much in the subject of triggers/pstd, because I’m still learning about that...and not many folks are fine with muses suddenly attacking their precious muse just because they tried to be affectionate.

5. If you were friends with your muse(s), what would you do together?

We’d probably go visit animals at shelters and zoos...and befriend the crud out of them. Help care for those buggers, if possible! Also I would try to learn how to cook with Momo too, if he had my headcanon-trait of being a good cook.

6. What’s one of your favorite fandoms, and why?

H.ow to K.eep a M.ummy is one, out of the sheer fact that no one has produced r34 of it yet...or at least something that’s easily found. Also the fans are pretty cool with their enthusiasm and arts. I’ve seen some cute plushies of the main critters that are fanmade! ...I probably ruined that streak didn’t I?

Also the anime is adorable, and I look forward to reading the manga. I just don’t like the heavy focus on the protagonist. I wanted to learn more about the other peeps in the gang, AND THEIR MYTHICAL FRIENDS. Especially the baku and dragon.

7. Are there any fandoms that you want to interact more with? Any AUs that you haven’t gotten a chance to try out yet?

Utapri, and kinda Idolm@ster??? I don’t know I’m working on interacting with folks in this fandom because they’re neato folks, and I fallen in love with the idols! Gah! I had this headcanon for the longest time that Momo’s guilty pleasure is idol music, but he’s only remember how melodic the voices are, and not the names or faces! It would be really cool to well, have the boy be weak but not in a depressed manner, ya know? Actually I wanna see more muses fangirling over each other, particularly if one has a publicly known job.

An au I haven’t tried out yet is actually...Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. I did rp Momo as a pokemon...ONCE, but nothing mystery dungeony. Just a “what if he was reborn as a pokemon” or “experiment gone wrong” thing, and he had a human trainer too. Now I wanna actually find a better Pokemon to suit him and do them mystery dungeon stuff...maybe someday. There was this cool group verse!

That and I wanna try out a verse where Momo is a live-in servant/butler. Seriously I gave him too many traits that fit that sort of job...and I watched too much gakuen babysitters which has the amazing Saikawa. I hear Black Butler is cool too.

8. What was one of your favorite video games as a kid?

Lemme see, Melee is VERY popular, but I loved fooling around in that game, not being a competitive smasher with all them wave dashes. Actually there’s a fair amount of games I liked that are still popular amongst the internet so let’s go something more obscure:

Mario Party 3

Dunno how the fam got it, but that was the game me and my sister played a ton of as kids, and we still came back to it when the Gamecube was around. It was part of our like strange pseudo rping thing to jump around the games to emulate the activities our characters partake in. Start in smash bros, kick some rivals butts and go on adventure! Then visit Mario Party 3 to celebrate with a giant pizza! Oh no, we need to collect some goodies, let’s go do a round on one of the boards! Kick the impostor star’s butt again! Jump to another Mario Party to run through the dungeon and ride the bus! It was kinda our way of playing pretend...I think. Good times, which is why I see the appeal in rping, ya know?

9. What’s the best song you’ve heard for the first time in the past few months?

S.O.S, by Weaver. Holy cow it’s catchy, but like so amazing in its beats. A close second would be Nijiro ⭐ Over Drive! by Otoya Ittoki...I mean his va. I love me some energetic beats man.

10. What’s the best meme you’ve found in the past year?

Okay maybe it’s not exactly a meme but it can be a culmulation of memes...of sorts... Anyways, there’s a channel called “ColeyDoesThings” and she has a series of videos where she visits a room containing a representation of a fandom...represented by her donning various personas based off of personalities found in a fanbase. This series is called “Entering the ___ fandom”. While she can’t catch all the quirks of a fandom (because some are so freakin huge), this woman catches a lot the traits I’ve seen in the places she visits. It’s hilarious to me at least.

I highly recommend the Ship Wars video, at the very least!

11. Is there something you’re looking forward to in the next few months?

Yes. Hatchimals Season 3...oh okay, not a lot of folks are into the collectible toy things. Fair enough, YouTube has fostered the growth of creepy toy channels! I am hyped for obtaining Bayonetta for the switch sometime soon, the end of the semester...I think Blade Strangers is coming out within that time period and I’m hyped to see Curly Brace in that games! Also MORE AMIIBO. That’s all I can recall, at the moment.

Ooo girl, you are in luck: I binge-watch YouTube videos whenever I can get a break, so your ask is right up my alley, LOL. ^-^

Alyn

ALL. THE. BAKING. VIDEOS. He gets so excited when he watches them: he will actually whip out a notebook and start writing down the recipes that he wants to try (a.k.a. ALL OF THEM! xD).

He especially likes watching cake/dessert-decorating channels (think Rosanna Pansino and My Cupcake Addiction), mostly because he wants to brush up on his decorating & design skills~.

He’d also probably watch some horse-related videos (equestrian, racing, etc.) and maybe a few dog videos so he can get ideas of what tricks he could teach Arthur.

Sid

Another dog video person: he watches adorable dog compilation videos and wonders if he can teach Jess some tricks~.

He needs to stay up-to-date about what’s going on around the world for his job, so he’d probably watch some late-night show clips (think John Oliver and Stephen Colbert) for the sake of both serious and hilarious political commentary (Ya boy’s gotta stay woke AND maintain his sense of humor! :D).

He doesn’t like to admit it, but he used to watch a bunch of gaming channels before he got too busy with his job! :P

Byron

Also watches political commentary clips from late-shows because he wants to know what people outside of political positions/occupations think of the world.

But he’d much rather watch AsapSCIENCE videos, especially those that have to do with astronomy.

He also watches a bunch of pop culture/meme videos that Nico sends him in order to “help him keep up with what’s ‘cool and hip’”. Thanks to Nico, Byron now knows that PPAP and dabbing were “so last year.”

Albert

Another avid political commentary watcher. Also watches videos that summarize political events going on around the world (like “NowThis” and other news channels’ videos).

He’s definitely a CrashCourse fan! He especially loves the History Series~.

When he’s trying to destress, he looks up latte art videos. He’s always so amazed by how the baristas create their drinks~.

It’s Nico’s fault that he has so many meme videos on his watch history. Poor Albert has gotten Rickrolled by Nico more times than he can count… xD

Nico

In case y’all haven’t already figured it out, Nico is very much into meme videos: from YouTube classics (like Numa Numa) to Vine compilations (even though Vine is dead #RIP), he has an entire freaking ARSENAL of these videos. :P

He also likes watching prank videos to get inspiration for his own silly antics (like fousyTUBE’s old prank videos and Thomas Sanders’s “Pranks With Friends”).

He has fallen in love with parkour videos and he may or may not have tried to do some of the stunts (don’t worry: Albert is always there to catch Nico when he falls yell at him for being so reckless).

Another CrashCourse fan! He and Albert may have had a few CrashCourse binge-watching sessions together, LOLOL. :D

He also likes watching the book summary and analysis videos like CrashCourse Literature and Thug Notes.

He loves watching YouTube comedians, especially those whose videos are #Relatable (think Lilly Singh, Liza Koshy, Domics, sWooZie etc.). As y’all can tell, I too watch A LOT of YouTube comedians, haha~. :P

Giles

High-key cat video person, ESPECIALLY when he’s stressed (If he had a nickel for every time he watched the Keyboard Cat video, he’d be effin’ rich.).

His search history is FILLED with yoga and mindfulness meditation videos. It’s another good destressor that also helps him maintain a healthy mind and body~.

He also has a bad habit of watching cooking videos when he’s hungry, especially the sped-up recipes videos (like Tasty’s recipe vids).

He discovered CrashCourse thanks to Leo and Albert, so he’ll occasionally send the Princess some videos to help her with reviewing lessons~.

I can also see Rayvis as a TED Talks fan. He’s honestly such a nerd for these videos, and he isn’t afraid to embrace it~.

Hair tutorials and hair product hauls galore. What? Even the best of the best need some advice on maintaining their luscious locks.

He absolutely loves song covers (from vocal song covers to instrumental versions).

I can also see Louis trying out crafting thanks to DIY videos~.

Although ballroom dancing is his forte, he also tries to learn some hip hop routines! Some choreographers he watches include Matt Steffanina, WilldaBeast Adams, Dytto, and more~! Yes, I also watch a lot of dance videos, LOLOL.

in their hotel room at 1:30 AM. one time by justin bieber is playing. kent is lying on his back, singing along and doing a stupid lil dance where he moves his arms and legs around in the air without sitting up. jack is staring at him and feels like he’ll just fall over, so he interrupts kent’s singing by kneeling over him and pressing their lips together. (this is actually their first kiss and it’s not like they’d be able to tell anyone about it in the first place, but they REALLY won’t tell anyone it was to a justin bieber song)

Eu acho que a soma das coisas boas de várias pessoas, assim como a superação de obstáculos de algumas e várias histórias que eu leio. Não consigo pensar em apenas uma pessoa ou uma índole.

I think it’s the sum of the good parts of diferente people, a lot of storys about simple persons and simple atitudes or overcoming obstacles. I don’t know, i can’t think of only one Pearson or one nature.

2.       Are you satisfied with who you are?

Não, ainda acho que eu poderia fazer mais e melhor, mas talvez eu deva trabalhar mais o jeito como eu me vejo do que o que eu faço, não sei kkk.

No, I think I can still do so much more and/or better, but maybe the problem is just the way I view things not how they really are, I think I should work on that.

Talvez umas flores do campo bem na delas.

Talvez...eu começando a aprender uma língua sozinha ou alguns aspectos da minha vida acadêmica.

Umm...maybe learning a different language by my own or some aspects of my academic life.

Se sim foi por ter sido sincera com os meus sentimentos e não tenho que me envergonhar disso. Não se pode forçar ninguém a gostar de outra pessoa.

If i did, it was for being sincere with my feelings and I don’t feel ashamed of that. You can’t force someone to like you.

10.   What do you think of angels?

Eu sempre gostei muito das mitologias católicas mais do que das gregas ou romanas então sempre gostei muito de anjos e toda sua hierarquia e história. Eu lia muito quando eu era adolescente/criança. Não acho que são reais até que se tenha uma transmutação genético (como o Anjo dos X-MEN), mas gosto.

I Always liked the catolic mythology more than the greek and roman, so I Always liked Angels, their hierarchy and story a lot. I read much about this when i was little (and during adolescence ‘cause I was questioning a lot of things). I don’t think they’re real till some sort of genetic transmutation give uns some wings (like the Angel from X-MEN)

11. What’s the best way to spend an afternoon?

1, 3, 13, 26, 28, and double-58 (so a song you like by a band you hate, and a song you hate by a band you like) if you please, good sir? :)

1. A song you’re ashamed of liking: Oh boy! Which to choose, there are so many…Well, I guess I’ll go for the weirder one. Okay, if you were on the internet back in the mid 2000′s, you’ll know there were various memes that were ever present no matter where you went. One of them was the “numa numa” song. Well, some years ago I tracked down the actual song, called “Dragostea Din Tei” by the band O-Zone, and…I kind of love it? It’s a pretty good dance beat and happy sounding and I dig it. I don’t think I’d mention this to my irl friends though. They’d have a field day of it. :P

3. Favourite band/artist: …Gah, I have too many that I really like. My top five would be, in no particular order, Queen (obviously), R.E.M., Collective Soul, Rusted Root, and Stan Rogers. I can’t put any of them at the top, though (no matter how much I want to say Queen). I like them all too much for a variety of different reasons.

13. Favourite song to sing in the shower: Probably a Stan Rogers song since they’re typically lyrics driven songs, not instrument driven. Among his songs…Barrett’s Privateers is a great shower song. Just a good old sea shanty. Fun to sing, too.

26. If you could get any lyrics tattooed, which would you choose: Hmm…well, I’m not one for tattoos, but if I had to get one, I’d probably choose a line from one of my favorite Sublime songs, What I Got.

Either “Love’s what I got” or “Life’s to short, so love the one you got”.

28. Can you play any instruments, if so, which: I used to play the piano a bit and I played the clarinet in my school’s band for four or five years, but I don’t play either much anymore. For the past few years I’ve been meaning to learn how to play guitar, but I’m still procrastinating on that. Maybe someday.

58. A song you love by an artist/band you hate: Okay, to start off, I’m not one to really hate a band. And If I do dislike a particular band, I tend to just not listen to their music. Therefore, this is a very difficult task.

I guess I’ll go with Paradise City by Guns n’ Roses. Not that I don’t like a good few of their songs or their sound, but the band…er, you know…rocky history.

58. A song you hate by an artist/band you love:  Guh, again, I’m not one to necessarily hate a song. And if there is a song I don’t really like, I just don’t listen to it. Even if it’s by a band I like.

Okay, I was only able to think of a song that I have a neutral opinion on, but I don’t listen to it all that often because it’s a song I need to be in a very particular mood to listen to. Everybody Hurts by R.E.M. It’s a pretty slow and sad song, even if it is hopeful and has a good message. It just kind of puts me down when I hear it. What can I say? I like my happy, upbeat songs!
