Very spicy salty and lengthy rant incoming. This is part 1 of 2, focusing on All Might (with Izuku and Katsuki), while part 2 will focus more on Ochako and the 1A reunion. I’m trying to help myself feel better about how deeply I dislike the “Dark Deku” and Star & Stripe arcs because I need to excise the real-life anxiety I’m feeling over this coming up in the anime. IMO, these arcs did not age well at all, and are absolutely no better in light of the ~35 subsequent chapters. It’s just that the subsequent chapters feel more cohesive and well thought-out despite Horikoshi’s physical pain and burnout.

While I’m not emotional over fictional characters, it is true that these arcs have impacted the fandom; namely, many people who were fans of All Might, Aizawa, Midnight, Mic, and the overall UA vibe dropped out. I get that sense from some LOV fans too. Overall, it means far fewer fics and art pieces with my blorbos, and it’s also meant far less interaction with my blog. (I don’t give a damn about “engagement” or followers, but I like talking about my hyperfixation with others who share it!). Obviously the story has to change as the series end draws near, but spending SO much time with Endeavor, Hawks, and Jeanist has worn me out, even if I think Horikoshi is handling Endeavor’s character growth well. (FWIW, I’m utterly disinterested in “Hawks the Optimist” who inexplicably became the expert on how OFA works, and Jeanist is…well…you know…a male model.)

Aside from everyone’s basic rant about how Horikoshi introduced two hot middle-aged women only to more or less fridge them (after killing Midnight!), my real complaint in this post is that the Dark Deku & Star arcs made a complete mess of All Might’s character arc and in-universe relationships. Don’t get me wrong — Chapter 326 with Stain seemed like something Horikoshi had planned since the early days of the manga, and that one hit HARD. But the rest felt like an improvisation. It’s horribly inconsistent on (1) when All Might speaks up and when he can’t bring himself to talk, and (2) how his relationship with 1A is handled compared to Star.

When it comes to All Might’s failure to speak up, it feels like Horikoshi was nerfing All Might and reducing what we know the former No.1 is capable of doing. I mean, in Chapter TWO he stops Izuku from overdoing his training. After Kamino, All Might helps Izuku develop Shoot Style by telling Izuku point blank that he’s trying too hard to imitate his mentor. In the Overhaul/Nighteye arc, All Might refuses to support Izuku’s desire to take on a work study because he thinks it unnecessarily exposes Izuku to villain activity AND Izuku needs to strengthen his Shoot Style first. (The awkwardness with Nighteye is his third reason.) When Izuku persuades him about getting stronger under Nighteye’s guidance, All Might carefully asks himself if Izuku is being impatient just because Izuku is his successor before agreeing to let Mirio do the introduction. When Izuku confronts All Might over Nighteye’s prophecy, All Might makes SURE Izuku is ready to hear an uncomfortable truth and then proceeds to tell him everything. In the next arc, All Might encourages Izuku to use whatever support items he needs, even though All Might always chose to fight with just his body. All Might is protective of Katsuki and Shoto too — when they want to jump out of the taxi and fight the Cider House gang, he tries to get them to slow down and “assess the situation first.” In all these situations, All Might can’t physically stop his students (and is usually on the losing end of the argument, as happens with argumentative teenagers™️), but he uses his voice to speak up and make his opinion known.

At the beginning of Dark Deku, things are looking okay. All Might gives up on the secrecy that defined him early on and tells Hawks and Jeanist everything when he realizes secrets didn’t keep people safe. That’s good, I think, but he didn’t seem to consult Izuku about it. Based on context clues, and how All Might initially wanted Izuku to stay at UA (again, he spoke up!) I think his motivation was to recruit the pro heroes to protect Izuku at the hospital and at UA. It sort of makes sense he would move fast and wouldn’t ask Izuku’s permission to do that…but in front of Inko after Izuku wakes up, All Might DOES ask Izuku’s permission to tell her. A minor inconsistency, but all right. It’s made clear All Might is worried sick about Izuku, warning him not to go overboard (once more speaking up!). Hawks even picks up on All Might’s hesitation, telling him that Izuku has the right strategy and it’s on All Might to keep the kid propped up. All Might does not look pleased about this as he looks up in the sky towards Izuku.

In helping Izuku, All Might fends off assassins and talks about how Izuku’s idolization of him weighs on him. It’s not just that he promised Inko he would live and look out for Izuku; he’s acutely aware his boy is just like him in ways good and bad.

Yet when All Might sees Izuku struggle and he begins to see why Nighteye wanted him to retire, he can’t bring himself to talk to Izuku. Even though he understands Izuku’s feelings, he just can’t say a word. You would think seeing Izuku get shot, or barely escaping AFO’s mansion explosion, would prompt a conversation. But no, he says nothing. (Then again, nobody seems to remember Izuku was shot; no mention in the bath scene either.)

At the same time, we see Nighteye pop up in All Might’s thoughts, but we don’t see All Might struggling with telling Izuku what Nighteye told him (that is, we have no idea if All Might still feels violated in some way by Nighteye’s actions). We also don’t see All Might worrying about Izuku realizing the Symbol of Peace was just a human being. All Might isn’t trying to keep up Izuku’s hope by hiding the real burden of being the symbol (besides, didn’t he pull back that curtain in, oh, CHAPTER ONE???) We aren’t given any solid motivation or thematic through line — he simply procrastinated on what he knew he had to do for an unsatisfying hodgepodge of invasive thoughts. That is inconsistent with the All Might we know.

Before anyone comes at me, All Might not telling Izuku about Nighteye’s prophecy is very different. In that situation, All Might honestly did not think Izuku needed to know because knowing would put MORE pressure on Izuku than necessary. In Dark Deku, it’s the opposite, and All Might knows talking to Izuku could help relieve pressure.

I understand this is supposed to be All Might’s low point to lead into the Stain conversation. All Might is supposed to feel like “doing his best” didn’t prevent society’s downfall and didn’t stop his boy from repeating his mistakes. But…it feels like Horikoshi tied his tongue because that’s what needed to happen for plot reasons, and Horikoshi just wanted it to happen quickly. We still don’t have a good character reason why. Would it have been so unbelievable that Izuku, in his panicked state, brushes off All Might’s advice to rest? Or would that “break” Izuku’s idolization of All Might in a way that Horikoshi is still saving for the finale, where Izuku finally becomes his own hero without imitating All Might at all? I don’t have an answer, but it feels like we still could have had the same basic story beats without the bizarre characterization.

The strangeness of All Might staying quiet also makes Katsuki’s argument to Endeavor in Chapter 319 feel funny to me. Katsuki is spot on that Izuku doesn’t take himself into account and All Might does the same thing. While Katsuki understands far better than Izuku that All Might is human, Katsuki doesn’t consider how protective All Might can be of Izuku. Katsuki doesn’t see (or understand, perhaps?) how All Might doesn’t want anyone else to be a Symbol of Peace the same way he was. Maybe that’s part of Katsuki’s idolization issues? Post-362, with Katsuki seeing All Might’s vestige and showing him the trading card, I think Katsuki never let himself appreciate that he had the former #1 in his corner, or that a person can, in fact, use their willpower to become a symbol that inspires a nation. Not to sound like Prince Harry in “Spare,” but maybe there’s also a tinge of lingering resentment over feeling left behind? There’s just something about Katsuki screaming to Endeavor, of all people, that you can’t leave Izuku and All Might alone together when Endeavor knows Izuku has already ditched All Might AND Endeavor and Hawks have already realized they’re “too slow” compared to Izuku. Of course it’s Hawks — who was saying Izuku made the right choice like Second and, uh, AFO — to announce that Izuku left All Might. There’s also Shoto yelling about how Endeavor “let them operate together,” but it’s not like Endeavor has enough credibility to control either Izuku or All Might.

How does a #2 protect their #1 when they’re too slow? Can you ever “run alongside” someone whose power vastly outpaces yours, or is idolization all you can do? I think these are fascinating thematic questions, and Dark Deku makes a mess of them.

These problems compound in the reunion chapter, 327, which is really cute when it comes to the bath scene and the 1A kids, but is inexplicably confounding when it comes to All Might + the kids. Izuku clearly calls All Might multiple times to reconnect, but the man doesn’t pick up his phone. (I think we’re supposed to assume All Might is talking to Stain when Izuku calls, but…he couldn’t use the Hercules speech-to-text feature to tell the kid he’s driving over?) Then All Might just happens to show up at UA as Izuku talks about him, and gives Izuku a deep bow while saying sorry “for being of so little help.” He says nothing aloud about how he feels towards Izuku, and nothing aloud about being proud of 1A (though he basically thinks that in this chapter and again in 335). When Mina asks for an apology because he just disappeared post-war and left 1A with the Wild Wild Pussycats, he briefly says he’s sorry for any anxiety he caused, but quickly pivots to the need to prepare for “the battle that will decide it all.”

Like the Stain conversation, I understand that this is supposed to be All Might stepping up and figuring out his place in the world post-retirement. He’s realized he passed the torch to Izuku and 1A, but that doesn’t mean he’s useless. He wants to join the fight with the kids; to catch up and run alongside them. And to do that, he….ditches them to join Tsukauchi and Endeavor. I do appreciate that All Might is open with Tsukauchi (and Sansa!!!) about his OFA experience. But he basically disappears from UA for two days to deal with Star and TomurAFO before coming back in 335 and then seemingly disappearing again before joining the UA faculty to discuss the Aoyamas. (As pictured above, Ochako and Tenya, then Katsuki, all rightfully call out All Might’s “I am not here” act in 335.) Are you really telling me that the man who cries over Aoyama’s reveal isn’t emotionally attached to the class and wouldn’t, you know, BE HERE for them?

What makes All Might’s absence from 1A even more problematic is that now he’s…Star’s mentor??? See, All Might sends out the call for help from his international super friends and Star comes riding in acting like she’s his successor. Chapter 364 later reinforces this, with Agpar’s monologue about “children observing adults and adults supporting the children as they pass it forward” showing a Prime All Might reach out out his hand to Star. It’s stupid because All Might has a direct successor already, plus two students (Katsuki and Shoto) that are direct heirs to other parts of his legacy, and another group of students that he’s been hands-on teaching for the past year. But Horikoshi decides to ignore all that setup and focus on “All Might + Star” rather than have him spend more time with 1A. Once again, if the point is to introduce thematic questions of inspiration and imitation, and how there’s a difference between someone imitating their idol based on their own interpretation vs actually receiving mentorship from the human behind the idol, it’s utterly lost in the execution. I just can’t bring myself to see Star as anything other than an interloper. I’m glad her pilot bros stayed in Japan to help out, and her sacrifice was heroic I suppose, but it suffered the same flaw as All Might. She tried to take on TomurAFO alone, and the best she could do is slow him down temporarily.

That’s all I can manage for now! In part 2, I’ll take a closer look at Ochako and the chain that leads to Izuku’s retrieval and where we are now.

Saw your ask about fic "fix it" and fics " with passion" and yes I agree. I'm doing two currently. Rogue and Wrong Heaven aus are basically that...and the most change I made is "lets stop dogpille on Izu"

But your idea made me think smth. Tenko le hero...would have the choice of wanting to be smth else? Bc mha is a bit dystopian world...and I can see people forcing him to be one. "You are a Shimura!"

And how Izu and Tenko would meet?

Not about ship here. Its your idea, your fic. But one thing that makes Shig well Shig...is his thing for Izu.

Hero Tenko has 0 reason to care for Izu...guess who has tons of photos said villain?

Which now makes me think on afo. He would take izu in out of the godness of his heart...so it would be easier to believe lady nagant did that than afo.

You may write afo as bad guy as you want but thanks to canon is so hard to see him as a big deal.

To conclude: I think Tenko would be treated badly in ua(courtesy of Aizawa) and I like to think Izu would be somewhat ok if lady nagant is his mentor. Izu destroying Bk's life is sexier than him just murdering him

Indeed :) I like your stories too and seeing Izu get the appreciation he deserves.

A good point, since we don't really see how hero families really work or if there's prestige or expectations of heroism that come with that it could be easy to see Tenko as expected to continue the family line of heroism.

However, in my story I am thinking of a different angle - enter Dadmight. Instead of having AFO twist little Tenko like he did in canon, an ally of AM finds him and... cue the number one hero navigating his way into fatherhood as well as nurturing Tenko to help him heal from his trauma. Which inspires little Tenko to want to save people like All Might does (and Nana did.)

For the first part, that's a spoiler for now 🤫 but I'll have to add to the tags of the story when I post it. Also - did you read my mind? I am planning on having villian!Izu keep up his hero / quirk analysis hobby and be a fan of Tenko.

As for Tenko's time in UA... That'll be spoilers 🤫😏

Many people claim second is either time traveling Bakugou or like fore father or smth because... Well look at him. Whats your take on it?

The worst thing about Tumblr is that the search blog function is so non existent that I can't even be sure you didn't try to see my opinion about this before asking, so I can't even blame you, but... Well:

And this was a post where I mentioned that I'm basically neutral on Bakugo as a whole because I really like some of his arc and his interactions, especially the remedial course arc, but that I really don't like him involved with the OfA plot line and feel it detracts from both he and Izuku

Ok. Let's go deeper then, and hopefully make this the last post I have to make on this subject.

tldr of the read more: I don't like Second as Bakugo and I actually think that the chances of Second as Bakugo's ancestor went down after the events of this week's chapter

So, I did see a lot of bak-u-go and I finally put my finger on why I hated it so much, (BESIDES the fact that I just do not think Horikoshi has done the set up for time travel in general or Bakugo in particular. Look, izuku should have told us already if Second was Bakugo. It just doesn't make sense for him to be, functionally) and instead of posting it on tumblr and dealing with people actually, like, seeing and reacting to it I just told two friends why I didn't like it thematically in a group chat. The text of my message is pasted bellow:

"So, like, even if Bakugo grows up and yeets back in time and somehow izuku doesn't recognize him with a little face scar which seems VERY UNLIKELY to me EVEN IF, then it COMPELETELY makes First's supposition pointless

So yeah, that's my take on Baku2- it replaces the potential actual character of Second (who is someone I love exploring in many different ways) with a character we already have. And I don't hate the character, but when I'm thinking about OfA Stuff? I don't want him there! I just can't bring myself to care about Bakugo as Second. If I want to have fun with Bakugo, and I sometimes do, I have him go train and develope menteeship with Nejire. I give him some Dadzawa. I have him develop friendships and better himself with the remedial team. Getting rid of a character I like to cast Bakugo in Second's place? The least fun thing I can think of! I just don't want to do it. Have fun, write it yourself, and tag it properly so that I don't have to see it.

Ok. You also mentioned Bakugo as Second's descendent. Honestly, it's possible, but I think it's less likely now. Second has spikey hair but it looks just as much like Dabi's as it does Bakugo's. It's just how Hori draws spikey hair. They don't even have the same style, since Second has an undercut and his hair is shaded darker than Bakugo's. I also don't think that Second is going to have an explosive quirk, because Third just got one! Third's Fa Jin quirk "builds up kinetic energy and use that energy to release an explosive burst of power."

What would be the point of Izuku getting an explosion quirk from Second? It wouldn't make sense with the actual quirk lineage Bakugo has from his parents if they were trying to go that route, and frankly it's just like the Baku2 Problem: I already know how Explosion works! It's not interesting to me! I don't want to miss out on a new fun quirk just to see one I already know again.

I want Second to have a mental quirk, that's my first pick. A lighting quirk would be fine too since I really wanted Sixth to have one but then he got a stealth one so I guess I don't need Second to have a stealth quirk anymore. *Glances at Vaneer.*

Anyway so maybe Third with spikey hair that actually matches Bakugo's color is his ancestor. Maybe Second is. They both have the build of their costumes in a way that reminds of Bakugo's summer and winter hero costumes. Maybe neither of them are. I don't really care that much, because... I don't think Second likes Bakugo. I don't think he liked him at the start, and I don't think he likes him now. I'll quote a friend who actually brought this topic up before I could, and whom I agree with:

Friend: Someone asked me "Okay but what about Second being Bakugou's ancestor?" So, I had to refrain from answering "Well, if you want, but Second would probably be disgusted by Bakugou. He is a guy who sacrificed everything so some asshole with a strong quirk wouldn't do whatever he wants. What do you think he would think of Bakugou?"

Me: you're stronger than me i would have answered that and then gotten a dozen angry messages back like 'uhhhh but but hes CHANGED now if second can 'forgive' a toothpick of a man who never actually did anything to hurt him and was only considered a target because of a relative, aka bc of his genetics, then surely he'd forgive bakugo for uh activlely harming izuku bc of his genetics and openly mocking the past holder's pain, fight, and strength in a meeting he acted too good for!'

So I don't think Second would like Bakugo for those reasons, but also another one- he's naïve. Second didn't like Izuku trying to "save to win" Shigaraki, he thought it was foolish. I don't think he'd like Bakugo's "fight to win" focus either, because to him it wasn't "fight to win." It was "fight to survive" and I don't think that for a single moment he thought he'd 'win' because he was 'a hero' and 'heroes always win and villains always lose and that's why I want to be a hero.' there's a reason he didn't want Bakugo to keep OfA either, and it wasn't just because of a very circumstantial theory some vestiges have based off a sample size of two with absolutely no way to check other variables said that maybe it would kill a holder if they had another quirk.

Has Bakugo grown since those views? Sure. Do I think he's still naïve? Yeah. Do I think Second would see that growth of his, or even care? No. I don't.

I don't think Second hates Bakugo. I just don't think he likes him either. His opinion, I think, probably is similar to my own: "he's a kid who can really grow and be great... And I just don't want him anywhere near OfA buisness."

Hnnn I have so many favorites honestly, since you said All Might and Deku, I chose specifically some Dadmight centered fics- I hope that’s ok! Most of my favorites are actually by @birdantlers but here’s a list of some of my favs! (I like hurt/comfort fics, so these you may need to grab tissues for!)

These are more Toshi comforting Deku, or Deku being the one hurt in this sense:

“by only a flicker we cling to this life” by @evevoli03  An accident leads to Toshinori and Izuku becoming trapped together in the cold, with little hope of making it out alive.

“The Art of Holding It Together” by BirdAntlers Amputee Deku, After the war, when most of the dust has settled, Izuku opens his eyes. It isn't until three days later that he wakes up.

“I See You” by BirdAntlers  Midoriya Izuku is a quirkless child, blind from birth. Yagi Toshinori is the most powerful man in the world, loved by millions. They could not be more different, and yet their loneliness is the same.

“Hard Going” by BirdAntlers It shouldn’t be this difficult for the former Symbol of Peace and his student to get help when the car they call home breaks down, stranding them in the harsh backcountry of the American southwest. But then, they’re a long way from civilization, and they must not look like either of those things by now. Izuku doesn’t know how a place as open and empty as the desert can feel so suffocating, and as night falls, more than just their car begins to break down.

“Slaughter to the Lamb” by BirdAntlers He must look like a journalist's dream right about now. The Symbol of Peace on his knees; bawling and bloodied as he clutches his student's limp form." He's dying," is all he can get out. "He's dying!"

These are a bit of a mix between both of them hurting and comforting each other:

“Some Unspoken Thing” by LittleKy Green, Toshinori has always thought, is the color of life anew. (Or: It's time for Yagi Toshinori to finally accept that he has a son, now, in all but blood. It's time for Midoriya Hisashi to accept that as well.)

“Choked” by BirdAntlers  Two different hospital stays and four very long minutes are what it takes for Toshinori to say what he's wanted to for months, and what he admits terrifies him more than anything else.

Most if not all of these have made me ugly cry. I’m an emotional person but man these hurt so good. I have other fics I love if you want a different “subject” or something more focused on a different relationship or what have you. But I couldn’t narrow down this list so here’s all of them! xD

I saw someone saying that fandom managed to make this Deku arc about someone else and that they aren't talking about Deku enough in comparison. Honestly? I understand the excitement and I don't blame people wanting to to talk about that. It's really telling that this last chapter got a lot of buzz and people going back to create and discuss theories just because of the second user's face reveal (which looks like one of the most developed characters in the story) and teasing of his past (which has a parallel with one of the most important scenes in the series). This character brings back that tension that these last chapters were lacking... At least in my opinion (I'm not really a fan of big fights or training arcs 😅 I prefer fights more emotionally charged and character interaction so that explains a lot 😂).

Concerning the last interview... Considering that Bakugo didn't have a illustration in the exhibition (as far as I know) and now he didn't mention anything specific about him... I think that he's preparing something big for him. I can't believe the possibility of being sidelined when he wrote such a complex character arc. Same with Todoroki when he mentions the Todoroki family and when there are so many things unsolved and has an endgame villain. Really happy for Uraraka (pls I want to see more of her apart from her crush on Deku), Shinso, Sero and Monoma, though! Hope he gives them their moment to shine!

“Fandom managed to make” is not the right way of looking at it. It’s a question of what resonates with people. And it’s not like “fandom” as whole has a bias against Deku. 

People were going absolutely insane and excited when the Deku 306 visual came out.

I think the problem is that the transition didn’t hit the right beats, because of the forced cliffhangers, the story-flow was constantly interrupted and the tension just fizzled out right after. 

I think fandom was prepared to go “oh shit” over Deku’s arms, or Inko’s reaction or what if the OFA secret gets out or what the extra quirks were, but instead we got a boring long interlude with Shindou that was unnecessary and the Muscular fight R 2, which I think was really anticlimatic and sucked out any excitement about those questions of arms and quirks and whatnot, and the retrospective story-telling just didn’t deliver the emotions the same way.  

There is only so many times fandom will go wild about “Deku may lose his arms” before it feels like, yeah, been there... not happening.

We can see that Deku’s arms are more or less fine, he’s on track to learn all his quirks, he’s got All Might, plus the Top 3 shadowing him. And sure, he seems a bit sad and lonely, but he’s got a bunch of ghost friends he hangs out with nowadays and a goal he’s focused on and a personal dadmight delivering bento boxes. So like... he seems ok?

While in the aftermath arc, we got emotional chapters, like the Hawks flashback or the Touya backstory, but actually precious little emotional closure for the students, so of course people are craving that. There is Tokoyami we haven’t seen since he cradled Hawks in his arms. We haven’t seen Kaminari since he woke up. We only got one panel of Aizawa in the hospital. There is no status on Bakugou and Todoroki...We have no idea 

We know Deku is as fine as he can be, considering the circumstances, so the natural question is ok, fine, we get it, can you show us the others now?

BnHA One-Shot Fic Recs (pt1)

Making some fic-rec posts has been on my to-do list for a while and I’m finally doing it, yay! Currently I have 6 word doc pages full of just BnHA recs. So I’m splitting them up by length and completion, so first up is (part one of) one-shots! Let’s go!!!

Lets start with some classic Izuku and DadMight!

However, somehow, the boy still decided that there was something vital missing. This is fluffy and very cute. No one truly appreciates All Might as much as Izuku does, but 1A comes close. All Might deserves all the love, and this fic truly provides!!!

Dear Mr. All Might by QuizzicalCrow (tumblr: @quizzicalcrow​ ) Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~5,000 words Summary: As the #1 hero for decades, All Might has collected a lot of fan mail over the years. Toshinori tracks down a series of letters that only now, years later, does he appreciate for their significance.  I always love the thought of All Might looking through his fan mail, even if he can’t get to all of it. This was a wonderful glimpse into that AND it was made to be so, so personal and sweet. Go have some heart-healing fluff.

Growing Pains by LordofLies (tumblr: @theangelofchildren ) Rating: G   Category: Gen    ~5,900 words Summary: Izuku finds himself changed by his encounter with the Hero Killer, but changes of a more physical kind are in store for him as he begins to truly accept One for All as his own. Once, he would have been thrilled to look more like All Might, but now those connections are as much a source of anxiety as they are of pride.Or, Izuku wakes up one morning and sees the world through different eyes. Izuku having anxiety and Toshi being there to help him through it and calm him down? Sign me UP. Its also a pretty cool take on how One for All is able to change things about it’s holder. Could this happen in cannon? Who knows.... Regardless, it was a great read!

I’ll Carry You Home by Renesvetta Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~2,700 words Summary: While training with All Might, it wasn’t uncommon for Izuku to be so exhausted at the end of the day that he unwittingly fell asleep without regard for where he was. It consequently became part of All Might’s routine to help his young protégé home. During that time, Izuku may have let loose more than one sleepy confession towards his mentor.  Yes, it is as adorable as it sounds. Its tagged with “self indulgent Dad Might fluff” which is both accurate and appreciated. In other words: Superb you funky little writer!

Simple Gifts by QuizzicalCrow Rating: G    Category: Gen   ~6,700 words Summary: One year ago, Izuku received the greatest gift he could ever imagine. Now he’s determined to return the favor for the one responsible for it all with a gift of his own.  First off, I love the idea of Izuku and Toshi quietly celebrating the anniversary of passing on OfA from All Might to Izuku. Even just taking the day to hang out with each other. It’s a really precious idea. But there’s not just fluff! Izuku finds himself in a fight, again. (cool villain quirk, too!) I love all of the small details that are in this fic (and in Crow’s other works, too!) anyway its exciting AND very heartwarming, so go read it!!!

Affectionate by Sevi007 (tumblr: @sevi007 ) Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~2,600 words Summary: Toshinori starts to show affection very easily around his students. The  reactions he gets for that are not quite the ones he had anticipated - well, not all of them, at least.  Toshi is LOVED, APPRECIATED, and 1A feels like HOME. how many times can i say “cute” and “heartwarming” on this post?? bc these are some amazing writers, whom I adore, and their writing makes my heart WARM. AND. FUZZY. i mean, even just the first few paragraphs of this one just, really sets the scene of what i like to believe the 1A dorm is (on a good day, lol). its a really nice read, so go treat yo’ self by reading it.

paint me in trust by dinomight Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~6,400 words Summary: The first mark Izuku gets is a slight brush of green across his temple. It’s the soft touch of a mother holding her son for the first time. Inko has one to match, the same shade of green staining the tips of her fingers. Hers is more noticeable; Izuku’s tends to blend into his hairline. He loves it anyways. He has to. It’s the only soulmate mark he has. (Or: how Izuku goes from just green to a rainbow, UA-style.)  Ok, so this fic sort of plays off the idea of soulmates, and does not fit in with soulmates in the usual form of the trope. First off its completely platonic. Its categorized as Gen and sticks to that. Also it doesn’t seem to be as obligatory and permanent as you would think it would be. It seems to be more of the universe telling you who has the possibility of being important in your life. I really really loved this, it was so adorable and gives you that sweet, sweet Izuku angst, before healing your heart with the power of friendship and found family!!!

The Die Has Been Cast by ChiwiTheKiwi (tumblr: @chiwithekiwi​ ) Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~5,400 words Summary: “There’s something about that kid you aren’t telling me, isn’t there?”When no answer meets him, Shouta tries again.“You know something about Midoriya’s quirk that you haven’t shared with me. Is that right?”(Or: A canon "What If" surrounding the latest manga events and focusing on Aizawa finally making a connection.) First off, this fic has spoilers for the manga, so dont read unless you’re past chp212! I loooooooove OfA reveal fics, especially when it’s Aizawa that finds out. He deserves to know!!! its kind of important!!!! This fic chooses a great moment to work off of, and does a great job with Aizawa’s character. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t keep myself from going back and reading it just now LOL

These last two are actually two-shots, but it makes it an even 10! also Izuku and dadmight, so we can continue the theme here...

Now that the actual recs are over I can rant here- look i really tried to slim my recs down, but i have almost 300 bnha fics bookmarked,some of them are “to read” or theyre in progress, etc but i managed to get this list sorta slimmed down? a little?(to only 58!!!) but as i was gathering this post together it felt like i dont have very many Dadmight recs on that list??? but i havent rechecked all the other fics i was just going through the oneshots. i... kinda read a lot more fics with AIzawa in it instead. it be that way. DadMight content is SO GOOD. but my fav is aizawa im sorryyyyy anyway i have another SEVENteeN oneshots to put in rec posts and that does NOT include the mulitchapter and friikin series and stuff... and like i said this is aaaaaaallllllllllllllll BnHA. batfam fic posts will come after, and then star wars, and then maybe star trek? we’ll see. i have a very specific taste in ST fics and that is Tarsus IV whump. which. i have not read in a while. when they say “that trope came from ST” for sooooooo many tropes, you WISH other fandoms had tarsus as a trope, holy crap it is TOP TIER angst fodder. if you love to write/read whump, angst, and h/c i would HIGHLY recommend that you take a bit of time and explore the content and stories there. heck maybe i will make a ficrec post for just tarsus angst. ok.

I had a random idea.

Dadzawa right? We know him we love him it's cannon. Dadmight and dadmic we Stan we love. Well I have an au idea

Quick trigger warning for: death cult stuff neglect bullying PTSD and general angst

Consider an ophanige/foster home au. These three vets take in the problem kids the ones least likely to get abopted and basically become their Piller of support for as long as possible as they try to help the kids work through the trauma and such the system gave them. Let's also say that this isn't a quirkless au so even more fun.

Bakugou and izuku came as a packaged pair let's say in this au kachan isn't a dick just overly protective of his only consint in this world izuku being quirkless paired with him being on the spectrum makes him one of the 'unadoptables' though bakugou has had a lot of adopters because of his quirk despite him being mostly deaf, if his attitude doesn't get him sent back, he'll just run. Arriving here it's the first time sense they where little where they where aloud a shared room, toshi managing to get both infodumping, stimming and just talking to others so the two aren't be so dependnt on eachother but never forcing them apart like former homes did. Let's say the event that left these two orphaned was a fire during a vist to the midoriya apartment.

The Todoroki kids was separated from their father after the water incadent and after being separated from eachother shoto ends up with in this home. Aizawa is the quite understanding adult he needed who understands why he's not a fan of touch and can read him well enough for what he wants. Let's say his trauma makes him mostly non verbal and makes him attach to seemingly random things (blue fire lights, Japanese style rooms, etc)

Iida arrived because his older brother wanted him to if he where to pass away trusting mic and aizawa to take care of his younger brother, he needs a set schedule and times for everything mainly because of him being on the spectrum and because when his routine broke his brother died

Uraraka was put into the system because her parents just couldn't care for here anymore,she has a tendency to run away to try to get back to her parents ending up at the threes home because of being a problem child mic ended up getting close to her and getting her to talk to help with the homesickness. Not much trauma.

Shinsou ended up there because of his 'dangerous' quirk, aizawa being one of the few qualified to care for him and the only one willing. Shinsou is nearly always hanging off of aizawa because of the bond they ended up shareing. izuku is the first person to talk so freely with him after he's aloud to interact with the other kids. His trauma gives him nightmares and makes him really non verbal.

Kirishima jirou and kaminari are anouther joint package the threes parents worked in a sound studio together that collapsed the only reason the three where alive was because of kirishimas quirk. Mic manages to get the three to talk to adults again from a shared love of music. The threes trauma makes them hesatent to trust adults seeing as it took seconds for all of the ones they trusted to vanish.

Tokoyami came in from a cult situation his and dark shadows behaviors deemed exstreamly dangerous thus aizawa was again the only one willing and qualified to take them. The duo ended up bonding with toshi because of their fascination with his health and his coughing up blood.the two are separate beings tokoyami actually being the one who prefers being called an it and dark shadow being a he. Though the two tend to use we/us by force of habit. Their trauma makes both jumpy around new things, have a distrust to food they didn't make and utterly terrified of most animals resulting in panic attacks at first if either looked in a mirror.

Shoji came from the same situation as tokoyami, though they where split up in the system, he bonded with toshi instead for the same feeling of odd looks once him and tokoyami where reunited they became a packaged deal the duo/threuo becoming inseparable. Has the same trauma as tokoyami but with the inclusion of a tendency to overwork himself and minus the animal fear.

Aoyoma Mina ojiro sato and sero where all orphaned at birth and before the current home where in a neglect/ kid hoarding foster situation most of there lives, as the oldest haveing to take care of the youngers, they all click separately with different adults. They have trouble exspressing themselves or asking for their needs because of there prior situation.

Toru was another neglect situation though this one from her birth parents them useing the exscuse of not being able to see her. Her trauma manafests in her being exstreamly loud and trying to get attention,resulting in her bonding with mic.

Hey everyone! I made this dadmight AU awhile back, and I’ve slowly been ruminating on it even though I’m no writer. Let me know what you think! (also please stay safe and healthy during this crazy f**king time)

I can’t believe that he said that. He wasn’t serious, was he? How could Kacchan? Just because I want to be a hero? Even though I’m…

“I’m sorry, but your son is…”

“I’m so sorry Izuku!”

“Shut up you useless…”

Quirkless.  I’m quirkless. And I understand that heroes have always had quirks. But that doesn’t mean…it doesn’t...doesn’t mean that I can’t. Anyone can be a hero, regardless of talent. They just need the heart…right? Well, a certain person probably needs to stop, but I’m already upset about today – the burns and words alone are making this a bad day. I’m so upset that I just…can’t focus. I don’t know where I am. A sewer? What…what is that noise? Squelching? Wha – and something is IN MY MOUTH. WHAT IS HAPPENING. I CAN’T BREATHE. I CAN’T BREATHE. I CAN’T...

“Don’t worry citizen, for I am here!”…and it stops. I can finally breathe. Wait…that frame, and that battle cry, can it really be..?

“Oh…d-All Might. You’re here. Thanks for saving me.”

“Izuku! Hello so – I mean, random citizen that I saved. What are you doing down here in this dreadful sewer?” What am I doing here, what is he doing here?

“…what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in Tokyo?” I’m trying to keep any annoyance out of my voice. But the question is more out of genuine curiosity.

“Well…I just decided to come on by…” Ok. That’s starting to sound like an excuse.

“So that means that you didn’t tell her at all. Ok, so you’re just doing that thing where you do hero work ‘in secret’…”

“No, that’s not it…” Panic starts to invade his voice. He’s sweating a little bit. He looks tired.

“So are you actually coming by –"

“Why don’t we talk where people won’t here us random citizen about things that I have no idea about!”

“What – no! What are you doING!!!”

He grabbed and there we go – launched up to a rooftop. Thanks All Might. I was not ready for that – had to grab his freaking pants so I would flail around. Again, thanks for that. But we stuck the landing. He let go of me after landing, and the only thing I could do was just back off. When I lifted my head to look at him, I was immediately met with steam spreading all over the rooftop. Oh great – he’s been working too much. Again. She won’t be happy about that.

When the steam cleared, there wasn’t a towering blond, but a sickly skeleton of a man. If any normal person were here, they’d be shocked to see the Symbol of Peace coughing up blood and looking like he could wilt any second. But again, not me.

“You haven’t been taking care of yourself, dad. You know mom won’t be happy to hear about this –”

“Yes, my boy, I know…”  

“You know that you shouldn’t be working when you’re coughing up blood. Does your doctor know about this? Wait, you probably haven’t seen your doctor in a while –” I’m starting to mumble – hand on my chin. Should I really be lecturing my own father about taking care of himself?

“Now son, just give me a second, I can explain –”

“Regardless, that still doesn’t explain why you’re here. Are you visiting this time? You know, mom appreciates it when you –” Why is he here? I’m going through my brain thinking about the potential reasons.

“Izuku my boy, just let me speak!” Silence. Hands fall to my side. Eyes widen. Dad doesn’t normally yell.

“Izuku, my boy. I’m sorry. Are you ok? It looked like that villain was suffocating you.” His tone leaks worry. He walks over and reaches out for my shoulder. His grip is bony, a little hard, yet slightly comforting.

“No, dad, I’m fine.” I look down at my feet and feel my cheeks warming - shame. I don’t like it when mom and dad worry, and they both already do that too much because of me. I hate that so much.

“And what were you doing in that sewer? Is this sewer on the way home, and does your mother know you went this way?” His voice progressively gets a little louder and filled with more worry and confusion. I mean if you saw your son for the first time in months in a sewer being suffocated by a slime villain, you probably would be confused and worried too.

“No dad, it’s not normally on my way home. Just had a bad day. But I’m fine. What were you doing down there dad?” He looks a little flabbergasted.

“W-what was I doing? Stopping a villain!” He’s sweating a little bit and runs his hand through his hair.

“I know that – I was there. But…why were you down there? And again, what are you doing in Musutafu?” He’s…dodging the question. This isn’t going to end well. I can’t help it – I’m starting to get a little angry.

“Well, you know that I was stopping a villain…and just patrolling.” He’s not even looking at me anymore. I’m getting angrier now – was he just planning on coming here, stopping a villain, and leaving? “But, since I’m here, I can surprise your mother! I guess the surprise for you is already ruined…”

“Dad, you weren’t planning on seeing us, were you? You know mom doesn’t like seeing you hurt because you overdid it. So there’s no way this was your plan all along.” He looks back at me in shock. Bullseye.

“…”

“Why do you do this? I…I understand that you want to keep us safe, and it’s better to stay away sometimes. But you don’t go out like you used to. You’re a literal skeleton now, dad. I don’t even know how you take care of yourself anymore! Mom and I are so worried about you! All the time!”

“My boy, I understand that. And you’re right – I wasn’t planning to stay. And I’m sorry. You two shouldn’t worry about me all the time. I can still do hero work –”

“T-that doesn’t MATTER DAD!” Both our eyes widen. Like him, and my mom, I don’t yell. I’m surprised I yelled. But it fits. I have to keep going. “Why are you trying to just excuse the fact that you can barely keep up with hero work!? Every time we see you, your health is so much worse! Do you know how much it hurts mom to see you like this?! Do you know how much it hurts her to not see you for MONTHS on end, then you come home with these excuses about working hard and needing to be a pillar for Japan?! I don’t care about that!!! Japan doesn’t need you dad – we do! Why can’t you just…retire? You’re not well, and we miss you – I miss you.” Woah. I need a breather after that. When I look at dad, he looks calm? Shocked? I can’t tell right now. I just that I’m angry. I think all the emotions from today and in general are just…piling up. But I can’t feel bad about it. He needed to hear this.

“Izuku. I’m sorry that I’m not there for you both more. I know that it you both are worried about me.” I can’t tell his emotions right now. He looks likes sad and..what is that second emotion? “And you’re too young to worry about me like that. And I need to do a better job at seeing you two more. That’s something I can do. What is that second emotion? “But you…you know that your mother and I have talked about this. You and I have talked about this. You know why I can’t stop – the world needs All Might. I can’t just leave the world without its Symbol of Peace, not when I can still –” It’s irritation. He’s irritated. I know. We’ve had this talk. But he’s just rejecting our concerns for his job.

That’s it. If I wasn’t holding in my anger before, it’s all out now. “But you BARELY CAN! LOOK AT YOURSELF DAD! You look so sick right now. You look like you could DIE at any second! The world doesn’t need the Symbol of Peace! Mom needs her husband! I NEED MY DAD!!!”

He’s just looking at me now. We’re both quiet. Neither of us is moving. He looks…angry? Like he’s trying to contain anger?

“Son. I’m sorry. But this is final. I’m sorry that this is the situation that we’re in. But you know that this is what I HAVE to do. I’ve accepted this. And so had your mom. We need you to as well. I know it’s hard to see me like this – believe me, I don’t necessarily like seeing this in the mirror every day. But we all have to make sacrifices for the world and the people around us. And I’m sorry that you have to.” I think he’s trying to calm down now. “But this is what heroes do, Izuku. I’m sorry. Now let’s go, your mom is probably waiting for you.”

“…I can’t accept this. I can’t. I can’t believe you’re just asking me to allow you to die. I can’t handle this right now. I have to go. I need to be alone.” And I turn around and…walk away. I’m walking away from dad. Holy crap. I just gave All Might – my dad – a piece of my mind. I don’t look back at him. I need to calm down.

Soon after this, Kacchan is attacked and taken hostage by that same slime villain. He must have gotten away at some point while dad and I were…talking. Oops. But…no hero is doing anything. What? Why? Even if I didn’t have a compatible quirk for this villain, I would still try. I think I’m just too much like dad. I can’t stand for this. So I jump in. And everything is so chaotic, I barely notice dad come in and save the day. And then…I get lectured about jumping in without a quirk. I can’t stand this day. I need it to end.

I purposely take the long way, in hopes of avoiding dad and getting as much of my anger out before going home. Mom doesn’t need to be overwhelmed both by dad being home and me being angry.

I just start walking – randomly picking streets and wandering to the best of my ability. I’m not really paying attention to my surroundings – bumping into people and barely avoiding poles and trees. I need a place without people – I just need a place to vent. Where am I even going? Is dad right? Should we all just accept this reality? Just accept him dying without doing anything about it? God I hate this. I wish I could TALK to people about this. I wish dad was on good terms with Sir Nighteye. I wonder if…no, I know this is probably what drove them apart. And dad needs to understand – if his actions drove Nighteye away, what about us? At least he SAW Nighteye almost every day. I don’t think I can take this…

…where am I? A park? What time is it? It’s dark out. I pull my phone out and see that it’s…well past dinner time. How did THAT happen? And I see the messages from mom and…dad.  I look around the park. Nobody seems to be here. Well, it’s pretty dark out now, so that makes sense. Good.  

“AGH!!!!!!!!!!!!” The scream goes on for a while.

“Why can’t he just…realize what All Might is doing to us? He makes us worry so much! UGHHHHHHHHHH!! He can’t ask me to basically choose between him and All Might! All Might is dying, and he’s been declining for years! He needs to see that HE’S dying, not just All Might. How can he not see that All Might isn’t as important to me as he is…”

“Oh, so All Might is dying?” Oh no. Oh craaaaap. “No need to be quiet. Keep going. How do you know this much about All Might?” Shit. I turn around – and see a guy with grey hair and a…hand on his face? Oh shit. This isn’t good.

“I…I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“No, you do. Not a lot of people would say that All Might is declining, yet alone dying. It almost sounds like you’re close to him – all that emotion and seriousness.” I’m sweating. There’s no way this is happening. Can I text dad or Tsukauchi? Would reaching for my phone trigger him to attack?

“…What’re you talking about? And…w-where did you come from?” Crap crap craaaaaaaaap. He’s looking straight at me. And I don’t know his quirk. And he doesn’t look too…friendly.

“Oh, was there someone else this late in this park shouting, ‘Oh no, look at what All Might is doing to us! We can’t choose between him and All Might! Both he and All Might are dying!!! Woe is me!’?” I’m nervous. I look around. Nobody else is here. Maybe that means I can escape. “See, you can’t even answer me kid. You know something…You know what? You’ll be an interesting side quest.” Side quest? What? “Come on Kurogiri.” Kurogiri…there’s someone else?!

A man suddenly appears from behind hand-guy. He’s much taller and…hard to see? He has these yellow, wispy eyes. And from what I can see, his head is almost a…cloud? Mist? It doesn’t matter. I didn’t even see him before now. I don’t think I’m getting out of this situation. Shit. I need to run – run and try to contact dad. I shouldn’t have run off! I should have just gone home! Shit shit shit!

“Yes, Tomura Shigaraki. Let’s go.” Go? Go where? RUN – I step back and try to run, but hand guy – Shigaraki – grabbed me with his hand. Tightly. And he’s lifted a finger?

“Don’t move, side quest. Or else I’ll have to put this finger down. And you’ll die.”  And there we go, down into the ground.

Fic: Dadmight intensifies (working title) - prologue: Father’s Day.

Summary:

Inko/All Might; Bakudeku

Inko fell in love with All Might a little piece at a time. Izuku decided he had a replacement father all at once. in Izuku’s second and third years, this becomes important. Toshinori realizes he will do anything for the Midoriya family in a quick and sudden moment. 

Bakugo realized that his oldest friend was one of his closest. An event occurs that opens his eyes and they start a process of becoming something more. in more ways than one. Izuku wonders what his future after school will look like and realizes he wants Bakugo in it. 

Midoriya Hisashi, meanwhile, was fired and now wants more than his ‘family’ is willing to give.

Prologue: Father’s Day.

"Are you getting anything for your dad, Midoriya?" Mina asked during a break in between classes, one day 

Sometime in his second year, around Father's Day, Izuku realizes who his father really is. And it wasn't the man who gave half of his genetics to Izuku. 

It wasn't a big moment that he realized who he thought his father was, just a regular day with Mina asking everyone if they were getting anything for their fathers that weekend. 

While she was being respectful and not throwing fathers into the face of people who didn't have any (she hadn't asked Todoroki after all) but she didn't skip over Izuku. She hadn't known that his father was more or less out of the picture, Izuku had never really spoken about him. Besides, his mom only had another year before she was entirely divorced. Both of them were looking forward to it.

But it hadn't mattered. 

It was at that moment that Izuku had an answer.

"I am!" Izuku smiled up at her, ignoring how Kacchan's gaze as he turned to look at Izuku.

He would worry about that and everything else later. He had to concentrate on giving his gift. 

Izuku doesn't remember his father, much. Growing up, the man was perpetually overseas. The man was always gone and never called or talked to him. His mother had long stopped being excited or happy about his father returning. 

He vaguely remembers being excited about his dad coming home when he was younger - before the quirkless diagnosis. Once that diagnosis was announced, his father got even more and more distant. The already present tension between his parents' relationship got worse and worse. Until his father stopped coming home. 

Izuku was glad for the most part. His father was an asshole. 

"DEKU," Kacchan said, stalking over to him as they left the dorms in the evening. They were going to meet All Might for tea. 

"Yes, Kacchan?" Izuku said, adjusting his grip on the item he was holding. 

Kacchan frowned at him, eyeing the item. "Is the sunflower for All Might?" Kacchan always could read Izuku well, but sometime in the last few months, it had gone to near mind reading. But that was ok. Izuku was nearly able to read Kacchan that well back. 

Izuku did his best not to worry about it. The pot shifted in his hands, and he tightened his grip. It was a small plant for being a sunflower. But it had the possibility to grow bigger. And really, Izuku liked the symbolism involved. The pot was a plain one, and Izuku hoped that All Might would not mind that. He bit his lips before he could start muttering more. Instead, he said, "Yes. It's Father's Day, Kacchan!" 

Kacchan paused for a long moment. They walked in silence to the school, side by side. Kacchan didn't tell Izuku to walk behind him; he hadn't done that in months. The last time they had talked about a father for Izuku was when they were children. It hadn't been a pleasant conversation for either of them. This one, Izuku already knew, was better. But Izuku was still worried. This was another factor in his relationship with All Might that Kacchan wasn't going to be able to replicate or defeated. 

His and Kacchan's relationship had gotten better, but this step was different. Eventually, Kacchan muttered, "… That's one hell of a step up, nerd." 

"I know!" Izuku said with a growing smile. "He deserves something!" he looked down at the plant, with its cheerful colors and strength despite its size. The plants reminded him of All Might. 

"Made a good choice there," Kacchan said, his tone something Izuku didn't fully recognize. 

Izuku looked up to meet Kacchan's eyes. There was approval in his eyes, and Izuku felt his whole person warm with the look. Of course, Kacchan would think to replace his bio father with someone like All Might would be best.

The earliest fight between his parents Izuku could remember was when he was about nine. Looking back, he was sure there were others, but his father was home so rarely... That was the first fight he heard his parents have. 

What Izuku could remember most about that fight was his mother hissing at his father, "You aren't home! You never call! All you do is work! All Might is more of a father figure to Izuku then you are!"

And his father hissing back, with smoke filling the room as his quirk activated partially, "All Might? A distant hero? More of a father than me?"

"Yes! At least, a distant hero is a Hero and a comfort! Not a father who barely remembers his kid's name!"  

That's when Izuku realized; he really didn't like or know his father. 

All Might was a better dad, and Izuku hadn't even met the man. That was the day that Izuku stopped asking about his father. 

It wasn't the last time that his father came home, but it was the very last time Izuku asked about him. Izuku had a better father to look up to. Not one that left his mom and made her cry. 

It was in his second year around the time All Might became Toshinori-sensei but before father's day, did Izuku remember this argument between his parents. 

So when Mina asked about what he was doing for Father's Day, Izuku knew who his father was. No questions asked. 

Toshinori-sensei was a better dad than his father, Midoriya Hisashi. He was supportive and kind when he needed to be. He was also tough and fair. He was Izuku's Hero and Mentor. Toshinori-sensei guided Izuku in a way that only his mother had before. 

Hell, he had asked Izuku's mother to help raise him while he was in the dorms. 

Toshinori was Deku's Dad. 

While Izuku didn't tell Toshinori – fucking All Might – that, he knew it was the truth.

"Toshinori-Sensei! I have something to give you!"

Katsuki waited outside the tea room he, Deku, and All Might-Sensei met in. Deku had gotten there with a huge sunflower in his hands and a nervous look on his face. Katsuki made an excuse to go to the bathroom to avoid the gift exchange. It wasn't his place to be there. 

It was for Father's Day. And All Might-Sensei wasn't Katsuki's father.

Katsuki stayed outside for a few more moments because… 

Because… 

Well, Katsuki knew he was an asshole, but he was actively trying not to be that big of one anymore. He kicks ass at everything, changing his own behavior will fall to his feet like everything else has. 

Even if it's hard work and makes him so frustrated sometimes. 

Especially if he was frustrated over All Might-Sensei and Deku refusing to truly see the changes in their relationship. All Might and Deku had something going on that neither of them would admit to everyone else yet, and it all had to do with a missing figure in Deku's life. 

A father. 

Katsuki wondered the last time he honestly thought about Deku's biological father. It had been years, for sure. It may have been after the previous time the asshole came to visit. Because every time Deku's dad came up, Deku had brushed off all conversations about him. Even his friends, Glasses and Round Face, didn't know what had happened with Deku's biological father. They knew they weren't getting an answer, too. The topic was one of the few that Deku avoided. 

The last time the asshole had come home was when they were eleven and about to enter middle school. That was the final time the man came back to Japan. That was also one of the last times that they managed to have a decent conversation about anything. 

Katsuki was still dealing with his choices in middle school. 

Deku had been crying in one of the parks near their home, and Katsuki didn't like that. So he had yelled at him until Deku had explained. 

("A fight, Kacchan, your parents get that bad ever? …I don't think he will come back. Is it wrong to be relived?") 

Then and there, in their last real conversation, before they left for middle school, Katsuki decided that they might share fire-based quirks, but Midoriya Hisashi wasn't worth his time. Hisashi wasn't worth Aunt Inko's time. He wasn't worth Deku's time. and Katsuki told Deku that. 

("Thanks, Kacchan! I believe you. I don't think he's coming back.") 

But now.

"I'm sure I will be able to take care of it, my boy." All Might-sensei said with what sounded like a smile. "Thank you for thinking of me." 

"It's the least I can do," Deku said with what was definably a smile. Katsuki ignored the way he knew that nerd was smiling. He was always smiling. That's how Katsuki knew. 

Katsuki knew that Deku found a better father figure. Finally.

He knocked on the door and twisted the knob. "HAVE YOU MADE PROGRESS YET ON THAT NEW MOVE, NERD?!" 

"Working on it, Kacchan!"

"Ah, young Bakugo, how has the new support equipment been working?"

Toshinori would say the first email he sent to Midoriya Inko was eloquent enough, but he would be lying to himself and the world around him. He wasn't in the habit of doing that anymore now that he wasn't hiding his form.

But after nearly a year of writing back and forth to her, Toshinori knew he had gotten better at least at writing a friend. 

Midoriya Inko was unquestionably one. At first, their emails were just about Izuku. He sent the occasional update or story about how he was doing and how he was progressing. Inko was always grateful. She would write back some advice on handling Izuku and occasionally Young Bakugo; it was always information that Toshinori felt like he needed and nearly always at the right time as well. 

Inko was always worrying about her son and if he had eaten enough. Soon that had changed into if Toshinori was eating enough. He mentioned once in one of the first phone calls that he had a hard time eating a lot of food and keeping it down. Her next email had a recipe he hadn't found before on a meal that could be eaten with a missing stomach. 

Now, Inko would ask about how he was doing as well. Toshinori wasn't upset at the change. He was worried about her too. 

She was a single mother, more or less, living on her own with her son in school. He was worried. 

They had communicated entirely in email for nearly a year. It was after Izuku's second sports festival (and his first win, Young Bakugo had come in second after a hell of a fight that left both fighters on their last legs – both boys were pleased with the results. Or as satisfied as young Bakugo could be,) that they started to talk on the phone more. Both he and Inko fell into the habit of emailing each other on Tuesdays and Fridays. Just enough time to have something interesting to say. 

That had all changed after the first Friday after the sports festival, the villain duo that knocked out the internet and could make people unable to speak their first language hit the city hard. 

The villains had started their chaos near where Inko's apartment was and hadn't been caught until they were nearly past UA. 

While many of the students were fluent enough in English, it was still a chaotic mess. The English department quickly learned who they needed to work with more. Most of the students took to writing. Izuku was one of the ones who spoke English better than his peers. He was terrible at writing it, however. Bakugo was far better at writing the language and took Izuku's verbal skills at it as an insult. 

But that the day Toshinori found out that Inko spoke English fluently. Everyone who had any skills with the duo told Toshinori that it would be back to normal within 48 hours – both the internet issues and the language problems. Toshinori didn't want to wait that long to talk to Inko. 

So, he called her, thinking that they would struggle through a short conversation, and he would call again when the quirk wore off. She had answered in English, and their conversation when on much longer than Toshinori had intended. She spoke English nearly as well as he did.

Toshinori was fascinated. After that moment, they had started taking on the phone more and more often until, by the middle of Izuku's second year, they were either emailing, texting, or talking every day. 

Toshinori delighted in finding out things about his new friend. Inko had gone to university to be a translator. She also had worked from home as a translator of books for the last few years. Now that Izuku was at school nearly full time, she was now looking for a job that was out of the home. 

Toshinori thought his successor, Izuku, might eventually become a friend, too, once he was done growing and was no longer a student. 

He had to wonder at the little family, though. 

Neither of them had mentioned a father. 

Well, once. Izuku did, back before he was given One for All. "My mother has a minor telekinetic quirk. She can pull small objects to herself. But my father can breathe fire, slightly. It was mostly smoke, though…" Izuku didn't even sound like he was fond of his father, unline how he seemed when he was speaking about his mother. It was just a casual statement that didn't bring any real information.

Inko also hadn't mentioned her husband or even if she was still married until after they started to talk nearly daily. 

"Oh, yeah," She laughs, "Hisashi once said that my English skills were impressive and the man now lives overseas, so I hope they still are." 

"Hisashi?" he asked, trying to remember where he had heard the name before. 

A pause, "Oh, my estranged husband. He's Izuku's father. We don't talk anymore." 

Toshinori let the subject drop. She was clearly worried about Izuku's father. 

He ignored the way his heart clenched. He didn't know what hurt more, Izuku's father exists and it's not Toshinori, or that Inko just the words estranged and not ex. Toshinori was good at ignoring the pain he didn't know the cause of.

Inko was sure this man was going to kill her with kindness. 

Or worry, Toshinori had no idea how to be careful. 

"I know I worried the class after the last heroics lesson. Some of them, Young Asui, for instance, have started to keep handkerchiefs for me during classes." He said during their biweekly phone call. After she demanded that he live for her son (and her, because she needed more friends and having someone ask to co-parent her son and entirely mean it, made them friends she found,) they ended up talking. 

At first, the phone calls were weekly half-hour updates emails on Izuku. Then the phone calls started. Later over time, they had changed to biweekly nearly three-hour calls in the evenings. Now it was a biweekly phone call with lots of texting throughout the week. She had a feeling that if she wasn't careful, the calls would go to a nearly daily thing. 

Inko found she didn't mind. It was nice talking to a friend this often. It was also lovely to worry about someone and then get reassured they were fine and a near-daily basis. 

She hadn't met someone as caring as Toshinori in a long, long time. It wasn't hard to figure out why. A man who dedicated himself to the point of near-death to be the 'symbol of peace' would have to be caring. But in reality, this was on a level that Inko wasn't expecting. 

Toshinori truly, cared deeply for his students, for his friends (as limited as that seemed to be – he and her were in the same boat in that regard), for his coworkers, and for most of all her son. 

The very first-time Izuku came home with the word 'training' on his tongue, Inko was terrified. There was so much that could go wrong. When Izuku mentioned that he was working with a semi-retired pro hero about said training, Inko felt a little better. She shouldn't have. But at that moment, she felt better. 

She had imagined that the person her son was training with would at least be kind and careful. 

She didn't imagine how much she would be wrong and right about that idea. 

Toshinori is kind. That's engraved into his soul, Inko was sure. 

But careful was a forging word to him. Neither he nor her son has any idea what that really means. Careful. They both run headfirst into the fray because they can because they feel like they have to. 

But at the same time, caring is the right word for him. 

Toshinori has about ten seconds of holding his former larger form. Through their conventions, Inko knows he's been working on finding a way to live. Toshinori's been taking more care of himself since he promised her he would live to help raise her son then he has attempted to in the past ten years. 

Inko was proud of him. 

"I know they said the school is ready for the summer break, but I don't know if the students really are," Toshinori said in English to her as they talked on the phone. 

Inko hummed. She was trying to translate a book for a customer, and it wasn't going well. "They might just be restless. Izuku has been twitchy in the last few conversations." 

"He has! I do not know what is going on with him and young Bakugo, but they have been sparring quite often lately!" 

That draws Inko's attention from the book. "They have? Is it… equal?" While Izuku was always following Bakugo, Inko had always worried about it. During middle school, she had done her best to keep them septate in the afternoons – not that it had done much good, but she tired. 

Now though, there was a different air about the relationship between her son and his oldest … friend. They were rivals, she guessed. But she had also seen the videos of a fight they had been in with a villain robbing a bank last week. It was while the boys were on their internship training with Endeavor. 

The boys worked near perfectly together. Her son and his 'rival/oldest friend' had each other's movements mapped. It was the first fight in a long time that Inko had seen that didn't take her out of her mind worried for Izuku. He had a partner in that fight. 

Still, she worried. 

While the change had started during 

"Most definetly! They seem to be having fun. their fights have become more… choreographed might be the best word." Toshinori said with what had to be a smile. "I suspect they are getting rid of the extra energy."

Inko nodded, even though she knew he wouldn't see it. 

"Besides, they are looking forward to the summer break." 

Inko eyed the letter sitting on her table. 

She would have to tell Izuku about the contents when he comes home on summer break. 

The lawyers were excellent; the divorce in absentia would go through before the summer break of Izuku's third year. 

Four years since the last time, Hisashi came home. A year and a half since the money stopped coming. No phone calls during the previous two years. 

She got in contact with lawyers once the money stopped, and every phone call she made went to a number that was disconnected. 

Hisashi hadn't been there for most of Izuku's life. Izuku liked to never acknowledge he had a father. 

Inko didn't even feel sad about the whole situation anymore. Hisashi lost that after the last time he came home. Over the years, the hurt his words had caused her had faded to nothing. 

It was Hisashi's own stubborn refusal to sign divorce papers when Izuku was in elementary school that led to that fight anyway. 

But in the end, it didn't matter anyway, 

"Inko-san?" Toshinori sounded concerned over the phone call.

Inko startled. "Ah, sorry, just drifted off." 

Toshinori chuckled. "Ah, I know the feeling." he paused for a moment, and Inko felt her heart rate increase. 

That pause mint something. Any pause made her worry increase. 

"Ah, so young Izuku broth me something on Sunday." 

Sunday? Why would Izuku bring something on Sunday….? Inko's stomach dropped. Sunday had been Father's Day. Izuku had given something to ALL MIGHT. 

Well, she should have seen that coming. 

"What did he give you? He didn't say anything about it to me," she asked, keeping her voice even. Izuku had given him something for Father's Day and hadn't told her. Made sense, the longer she thought about it. Izuku would claim Toshinori as a father figure, someone who had supported him in his goals and helped him become the man he wanted to be.

"It was a potted sunflower. I haven't had a plant before!" Toshinori sounded surprised and happy. "Young Izuku said it reminded him of me."

Inko smiled. "Must be the hair."

Toshinori laughed. "Might be. And how thin the stem is."

That caused Inko to laugh as well. They had many conventions on body changes. If there was something they both could understand in each other was the weird acceptance and discomfort when your body changes without your permission.

Her body had come with the stress of being a single mother with a son who was headstrong and determined to go beyond his limits.

His had come from the stress and sacrifice of being a hero. Of being the symbol of peace for so long that he was still finding out what he wanted to be in times that he wasn't All Might.

Inko liked Toshinori as a friend.

She wasn't going to deny that he was an attractive person in both forms. He had a strengthen in his thin form that he was still working on. Inko admired that about him.

"He believes in you." She said, knowing that it would cause Toshinori to pause.

She was right; he hesitated before he responded, "I am glad to be with him. He takes guidance so well."

That caused her to laugh again, this time light and small. "Only if it's in something he wanted to do in the first place. He can be stubborn too."

"I have seen that part of him before!"

The conversation drove on, and Inko felt her happiness increase with each moment.

Izuku had picked a good man to be his father.

Hisashi was quietly furious.

The letter in his hand smoked from where he was breathing on it. It was a letter to his business from the IRS.

They were auditing them.

Hisashi knew what it mints. He was furious that it came to this. He could see all the power and money he had amassed quickly vanishing.

"What do you want from me?" Hisashi asked with a tight voice. He forced his quirk not to activate more than the light stream of smoke that was near impossible to control.

The boss, a tall thin man with a reedy voice and a steely glare, nodded. "We need your name away from the accounts. We are being audited by the IRS, and really, you are expendable in this situation. We will need you, specifically, gone for a while. For a long while. Why don't you go home?"

For a moment, Hisashi felt confused. The US was home. He had lived there for the past fifteen years. Then he remembered that he officially had a wife and kid back in Japan.

The last time he saw Inko, his wife, he had refused to sign any divorce papers because, really, he got more money being a married man with two dependants then he did as a single person.

Never mind that when the kid was fourteen and old envoi to have a job in Japan, Hisashi had stopped sending money. When he hadn't heard anything from Inko, he assumed that it was fine. They had finally stopped being a drain on what Hisashi really wanted: wealth and power.

Hisashi looked up from the firing letter. "I am to take my contacts with me?"

"Sorry," his boss said, not sounding bothered in the slightest. "We will need you to. Let us contact you first before you come back to the States."

Hisashi took a deep controlling breath.

He wanted to burn this place down. But he had spent so much time building the business that it would be tearing down his own work, and Hisashi wasn't that angry yet. Unfortunately, his boss was right. Hisashi was the only foreign nationals working with the accounts. This was against US law; the IRS would tear them apart in a heartbeat.

He was also the one with underground contacts.

He was expendable.

"Go home, Hisashi. When, in a couple of years, the IRS leaves us alone, we will call for you again."

Bullshit. Hisashi thought. He nodded none the less. They will call him again. Or else the company be set fire by his own breath. "I will go home." The taste of sulfur on his tongue, but he swallowed it back.

"I hope you enjoy it. Wasn't your kid the one who won the last UA sports festival?" his boss asked.

Hasashi did his best to keep a straight face. "Yes. I am very pound of him."

How the hell Izuku, who last time Hisashi had seen him was QUIRKLESS, managed to win the UA Sports festival, Hisashi had no idea. He hadn't watched the event and had only found out because the damn thing makes internarial news every year.

"You should be. Hero's make a bunch of money, through sponsorships. If he wasn't going to follow in your footsteps, that would support him well enough." Hasashi hummed his agreement. Turning out the stupid, false flattery, his boss was saying Hisashi realized that was true. Heroes do make a mint when it came to sponsorships, licenses, and other events. If Hasashi could get a piece of that pie, then he wouldn't need this company that the IRS already has looked at once.

He had the contacts anyway to what he wanted.

Maybe it was time to call Inko and talk to his son. Surely his son would want to speak to his father about business decisions. Hopefully, the boy has moved past that All Might obsession. The former 'symbol of peace,' bullshit.

Or maybe the kid hadn't had would want to emulate All Might's success with all of the sponsorships and other images licensing.

Hisashi stood and bowed at the man who was his boss. "Thank you for your time," he said formally.

Hisashi had a son to talk to, a plane to catch, and some underground people to make contact with. If this works out.

BnHA Ch.318 - Comparisons and parallels

Hey, did you hear Bakugo was back? I kid! Of COURSE everyone on Tumblr heard the collective BKDK screams. :) While the gremlin ex machina is the big news, a lot of other good stuff happened too.

We open the chapter with more Endeavor chitchat. He’s turning out to be a good coordinator, an insightful investigator, and all around worthy of being a top pro…except he’s still a crap father and still doesn’t seem to care about human beings. Even here with Deku, he appears to express concern over Deku’s wellbeing but immediately follows it up with:

Yup, he only cares about Deku as the OFA holder, not the kid who saved him in the war, the kid who used to intern for him, or the kid who’s friends with his kid. Ugh.

Deku swears to Endy that he’s fine because he’s still on his feet, but that’s a pretty poor standard. I mean, he’s wobbling and needs Blackwhip as a literal crutch. The vestiges agree with Endy and start to gang up on Deku, so Deku, in all his tired teenage wisdom, decides to ghost them. Apparently you CAN ghost a vestige, and Fourth is not here for it.

Holy heteromorph discrimination! All the villains we see Deku fighting are heteromorphs (some are even dressed like Spinner). We also see Deku fighting a gigantic shark-headed villain in the water, presumably because Gang Orca and Selkie were busy.

I LOVE the panel of Deku thinking of his family, his teachers, and Eri. This is what he’s fighting to achieve, but Deku’s perceptions (goals?) don’t necessarily line up with reality.

His mom is first (awwww) and she’s cheering for him like she did when he was little. NOT worried, not crying, just pure joy for her hero son, like he fantasized when he was a quirkless boy.

Gran Torino in his hero outfit, smiling and eating — NOT as Deku last saw him in the hospital.

Proud Dadmight with a genuine smile, NOT hero All Might. Also, All Might appears to be wearing his track jacket, not a business suit, so presumably Deku is thinking about a more casual training moment with his mentor. This is an interesting contrast to Gran Torino, who Deku DOES picture as a hero even though Torino handed his cape to Deku in the hospital.

AIZAWA GLARING WITH BOTH EYES AND HIDING HIS MOUTH, because THIS is how Aizawa looks in Deku’s happily ever after. But we all know Aizawa is probably hiding a sly smile under under his capture weapon, right??

Eri, finally smiling freely, because she’s learned how.

Also, it looks like Deku is again fighting heteromorphs at the bottom of this panel, although one of the kids he’s defending appears to have a duck bill, so we have some positive representation too.

Deku says he wants everyone to live their lives in peace and safety so they can smile together. Wow, where have we heard an idealistic kid say that before?

As Deku thinks about the ideal he shares with All Might, he arrives at Kamino, the place where “All Might” ended. Deku nearly collapses and meets his end when he sees a villain called Dictator, who was sent by AFO. Yup, Nagant wasn’t the only one sent by AFO, she just thought she was (and AFO didn’t prep her well — by comparison, Dictator received a full briefing about Deku). But look carefully at how Dictator uses different insults than AFO. He doesn’t call Deku useless or a boy (as both AFO and Nagant did), even though the imagery throughout this chapter points to the “what can you even do?” bit from Chapter 1. Instead, Dictator calls Deku reckless, impatient, and a loner.

“Rampage” in particular, calls back to this AFO/Yoichi exchange during the vestige battle, where AFO decried “rage” as being ruled by emotion and out of control, but Yoichi praised it as a form of passion.

Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but I think AFO is increasingly afraid of Deku. AFO is putting more effort into prepping his assassins, and his pass-through insults are sounding more like the taunts he hurled at All Might. AFO is now referring to All Might as useless and Deku as reckless. If, somehow, we see Dictator in the next chapter, I’m curious if he’ll explode or bust out a second quirk…..He does say taking Deku to AFO will bring him security, so I think AFO explicitly threatened him. All I’m saying is, it’s weird that a villain named Dictator has no mission statement or political end he’s trying to reach. He seems to be acting purely on AFO’s orders or ELSE, which means AFO is getting desperate and doesn’t have time for games. By contrast, AFO persuaded Nagant the boy would stop hero society from collapsing, therefore her goal and AFO’s goal were aligned. Unlike Dictator, she wasn’t aware there was an “or else;” she didn’t know she would explode if she exercised “free will.”

Deku snaps out of his stupor long enough to challenge Dictator to give up AFO’s location. Dictator says if Deku wants a fight, he’ll give him one, which echoes a line from AFO in Kamino:

There’s no more “come quietly if you want to keep your limbs,” it’s straight to “let’s fight!”

FINALLY! We. See. Bakugo! I adore how Deku is piled under bodies, twisting his tired brain around, thinking “I need a strategy,” and Bakugo is just, “VILLAIN GO BOOM!” with a precision blast. He knew exactly how to get the villain while keeping civilians safe. Perfect victory (assuming Dictator is truly done). Also, Bakugo’s “that punk” could apply to either the villain or Deku. :) It’s a nice callback to the final exam when Deku can’t think of a strategy to win against All Might and Bakugo was, “I choose violence against my childhood idol.” Both times, Bakugo’s right — sometimes a little rage is necessary to save and win.

I have thoughts on AFO and the “my body moved without thinking” bits that I’ll post separately. As for my next chapter hopes and dreams:

More Bakugo and UA kids. Plus All Might and Stain. And some LOV love pleeeeease.

Figure out why Second is being sus. He says saving everyone is the right path for Deku (contrary to AFO, who calls Deku’s path “thorny”), and that inaction is not an option for OFA holders. We also know Second believes victory = life and defeat = death, so it makes sense he’d push Deku towards victory no matter the cost. Second also says there’s something that can bolster Deku, which is presumably Bakugo and friends. However, when Bakugo arrives, Second doesn’t look pleased. Assuming he’s standing the same way against his throne chair as he is at the start of the chapter, then in the panel below Second is looking over his LEFT shoulder AWAY from the other vestiges and towards the expanse of the OFA mind realm. (Earlier in the chapter he looks over his RIGHT shoulder to speak to Yoichi and Third.) WHY YOU LOOK AWAY FROM VESTIGE FRIENDS WHEN WHEN BAKUGO APPEARS??? ARE YOU ON THE LOOKOUT FOR AFO TO ARRIVE??

Although the arrival of foreign heroes has been promised for a bit, and I’m ok with some background forces to bulk the hero ranks, I’m not keen on new cannon fodder cameo characters that will show up for 4 chapters and then disappear. A Captain Celebrity appearance would be fun, but let’s be honest, he likely noped out of going to Japan to fight villains gone wild. If Death Arms quit, there’s no way Captain Celebrity would keep going!

please say all might survives the willy wonka au?? im.....,,, i mean, izuku gets ofa so like, i feel with the knowledge that AM could die, he would just instantly go to DESTROY mode (think Izuku at overhaul fight, or certain later *manga spoilers* fights) at any villain that proclaims they want to kill AM. does usj still happen?? i feel like if izuku knows about AM's pending death and then meets shigaraki, someone proclaiming his goal is to kill AM, shigaraki's villain career would unfortunately end that day by force.

Yeah I mentioned in the tags that he survives but there are some changes:

- Izuku gets cagey once he realizes the attackers are at the usj for All Might, and freaks out when Tsuyu points out they have a plan, saying they have to defeat the villains or at least trick them into leaving before All Might gets there. His classmates are a little weirded out by that because obviously as soon as All Might gets there they'll all be saved, right? Anyway izuku then sends Tsu and Mineta around the other way to grab Aizawa while he plays decoy and distraction. All Might arrives to see him in danger, and we get a post usj scene in the hospital bay where he's ~ * actually kind of pissed * ~ because Izuku's job is to outlive him, not the other way around. That's been how it's supposed to be since the beginning, before he really went full dadmight, and now he's even more desperate for his son to survive him. I expect waterworks and Naomasa to be the most awkward poor bystander ever.

- Todoroki asks Izuku about the lovechild thing and Izuku isn't sure how to explain the truth, that he's the secret adopted son, since he'd still wonder about the same quirk, so he just says that's kinda right but more complicated and none of Todoroki's business. Then Todoroki goes "ok fair" and tells his whole tragic backstory and Izuku's like "huh ok nevermind if we trust each other that much sure" and tells him most everything, except not about OfA or the injury All Might has. Instead he said no one wanted a boy with a useless quirk that only broke his own bones and threatened whatever house he lived in. Katsuki becomes the second most awkward bystander but that's karma since he sought out eavesdropping.

- Izuku actually does go full "end Tomura's career" thing at the Mall, when he gets grabbed and is one finger from death and figures Toshi won't be that mad at him if he dies here since he was targeted specifically, and also izuku will be too dead to care. Izuku, now having lived with Toshi for two years, had his share of things about the man that upset him, and he's actually able to share a few with Tomura, who is delighted to find someone else willing to say some bad things about All Might, though he's puzzled why izuku still cares for him if he's that annoying. Izuku says he isn't sure why either, but can't Tomura relate? About Kurogiri, or his Sensei? Yeah he's going for information. Tomura admits some details but also that he doesn't know all the plans, and eventually izuku decides he won't get any more info from him so it's time to disable the threat and get him arrested so the professionals (All Might and Uncle Nao, really) can find out more. When Uraraka shows up, Izuku's got Tomura's hands tied together behind his back with a sacrificed shoelace and his head shoved in a potted plant. Regrettably Kurogiri just grabs him back later, but izuku has solidly landed himself a space on the kidnap list the next time the LoV attack.

allmight n inko end up dating and tenko n izu are brothers

dabi and tenko are third year ua herocourse students when izu and the others join

tenko is a soft sunshine boy cause izu rubbed off on him a lot

dabi wants to be an underground hero so he'll never be like his father

todoroki takes the entrance exam so inasa and hitoshi are recommendation students

izuku kills the exam because he starts ua being able to use full cowl 5%, breaking allmights record with a whopping 130 points

because consider dabi, shouto, izu, tenko and hitoshi all singing karaoke together, dabi has a tambourine and tenko is violently shaking maracas

izuku and inko dont know toshi is allmight, but tenko and toshi are terrible liars

the first time toshi meets izuku its just tenko presenting him saying "you gotta give it to him dad"

izu is only 5 n still broken up about having no quirk, toshi says he might just be a late bloomer while tenko nods

toshi sneaks izuku his quirk when he turns 7, izuku wakes up n accidentally punches a hole in the ceiling, he n katsuki make up cause izuku has a bomb ass quirk even if it does break his bones

he and inko just think he was a late bloomer cause his quirk was so strong. tenko and toshi highfive

seven year old izuku walking back into his house like mom i broke both my arms again :(((

katsuki actually helps him work out the flick thing

they’re so used to shouting criticisms while sparring that they still do it after they enter ua

when they spar at the sports festival mic can’t get a word of commentary in bc it’s just a constant slew of

dabi n tenko the third years can hear them in their own stadium. tenko is cheering softly, dabi has a heart attack when he sees the walls of ice

izu has a massive handshapped scar on his wrist from when tenko saved him by pulling him out of the way of a car

he doesnt mind it but it makes tenko sad so he wears a lil cuff over it

tenko snuck in to watch the entrance exam he n toshinori are cheering quietly, the other teachers just sigh

izuku broke allmights record for points scored in the entrance exam but hes still scared he failed

tenko wants to s c r e a m

USJ ANGST TIME

starts as normal students enter, villains arrive kurogiri has an ear piece and is talking with afo directly, some of the 8 prefects goons are there too

hitoshi used his quirk on kurogiri to find out who they are, but is targeted after that and the villains know not to respond

the students are scattered, its izu/tsuyu and hitoshi. they do the whirlpool thing w/o the sitcking, hitoshi instructs them to tread water and not to move

hitoshi is nearing quirk overuse, tsuyu is shaken, izu is pretty much ok

aizawa is fighting the villains as normal, the nomu arrives

hitoshi tries to mind control the nomu, kurogiri attempts to direct one of the nomus punches to hitoshi, aizawa cancels the portal, severing one of the nomus arms. its grows back, aizawa is beaten

izuku charges forward, fighting the nomu with a higher percentage of full cowl than he can safely use but they are evenly matched

todoroki shows up, cant help because the two are moving so fast he cant aim his quirk and not hit mido

he and hitoshi keep kurogiri busy

before allmight arrives, dabi and tenko do, after seeing tenya running towards the school

izuku can barely move, over using his quirk to the point that he has countless micro fractures and the nomu has landed a few punches, and he took others to protect aizawa

tenko yells at dabi to grab izuku, kurogiri mentions that his master killed tenkos family and hes pissed

he cant stand up to the nomu but shouto makes an opening and he and dabi try to damage it as best they can, shouto has to hold izuku down to stop him from joining the fight again

allmight arrives, quickly dispatches the nomu, turns on Kurogiri

so tenko, allmight and a shaky izu are all facing down kurogiri while afo is trying to convince him to keep fighting

reinforcements arrive and kuro nopes out

as soon as the portal closes, izuku collapses and tenko n allmight rush over, shouto is grabbing onto dabi and hitoshi is trying to get aizawa to respond

hitoshi, crying, has to ask dabi to pick up his dad because his arms are shaking to bad hes scared he might drop him

tenko has no gloves anymore and he cant touch izuku and hes just lost, shouto wraps an arm around him and hitoshi n they cry as dabi takes aizawa and allmight takes izuku to recovery girl

aizawa n izu in the same hospital, hitoshi tells him what izuku did n aizawa fucking, breaks out of bed like a jackass to call him a problem child then fucking limps back

less depressingly, happy families dabi and tenko do "get help" from Thor Ragnarok

"gET heLP hEs BUrnINg UP"

aizawa : "kids that movie is like 240 years old"

izuku : "so... you know it then?"

aizawa: "fuck"

nighteye and gran torino are izuku and tenko's terrible uncles

he stars school at 5%, internships is 10%, camp gets him up to 15% so hes around 25% at the eri rescue

ochako being a terrible influence on kirishima

happy family izuku and kastuki were eachothers first kiss but in a dumb ass way

izuku was like "i need to ruin my frist kiss so the next one will be better"

they both almost gagged afterwards

tenko walked in on them violently scrubbing their lips

BNHA “ask me” game

 So... I know this is not how this game is suppossed to be played, but I love making this kind of decisions/opinions and I just can’t wait for someone to ask me, so yeah 💪🙌😆🤗

OK this will be cool but long:

💫- What Quirk would you want (your own or existing in BNHA), and why?: One with heal power. Like “light” quirk, but not the physical type, instead, the kindness type one that reaches other’s souls and heals them from within <3 (I don’t think this is possible in BNHA world due to the lack of moral guilt villains have. It’s usually Deku who reaches other’s hearts and “others” are good people- who need to be rescued/heroes more often than not).

❇- Best quirk: OFA, of course. It gives you strengh and you can do a lot of things with that (so, speed too). Even better now that we know what he really stores, iykwim (last manga chapters, 213-5). The problem is how difficult it is to control...

🚫-Worst quirk (except Mineta): LOL. This is really difficult, they all can be used for something... Mt. Lady’s gigantification seems a little... how to say it? uncomfortable? Aoyama’s Belly Laser sounds like a pain: difficult to control and makes your belly hurt 😖 (it’ll be useful, but I wouldn’t like to have it).

😳- BNHA harem? 5-10 people: Not my thing, sorry.

👨‍❤‍💋‍👨- Fave gay ship/s: In this anime, I don’t have one (if the ship isn’t canon, I don’t ship it even if I like them, like what happens with Todomomo: I like it, but it’s not canon).

💑- Fave straight ship/s?: Izuocha. Obviously (they are somehow canon. At least from Ochako’s part, but you know... pretty obvious they’ll be a thing by the end of the series...💗).

✨- Most underrated ship?: there aren’t many canon ships, but... I dare say Inko x his actual husband 😂😂 (yes, she has one, sorry, Toshinko shippers :c).

🎎- Most overrated ship?: Pff. Most homo “ships”, TBH x’D We all know fujoshis will conquist our world some day, just as cats are doing it...

👅- Most cancerous ship/ Shipping fandom: I don’t think there is a worst shipping fandom, ‘cause BNHA is one of the anime with more ships there. I think we all respect each other in that aspect even if we don’t like other’s ships, I guess (?)

🔫- Who would you kill?: MINETA. LMAO not really, but it’s the only character I truly dislike u.u

💍- Who would you like to marry?: Todoroki. His personality fits with mine, I’m like a mix of Deku and Ochako BTW. But I wouldn’t care if it was my cinnamon roll Deku 💗 Just, things would be very awkward if it’s just the two little shy emotional frikis we are (him being hero otaku and me just otaku in general) xDD

🥂- Date with?: Mmmm, Bakugo? I want to see that part of him X) (But I don’t think we get along very well, at least from his part, you know how he is... xD). Maybe Kaminari-chan. It’d be very fun 😄

🌸- Fave BNHA theory: I don’t like theories and I don’t want to know anything about them. I also have my thoughts, maybes & possibilities but I don’t like to speell them ‘cause they can become some sort of lucky spoiler (?).

🏞- Fave Arc in BNHA: Still soon, but I liked the Summer Camp + Rescue Bakugo Arc very much (I don’t take into account the arcs that are only part of the manga yet because if I dont watch them in the anime, I won’t know if I’ll feel the same about them. It usually gets better in the anime, with the coloring, special effects, music and acting, though).

🏝- Stranded on an island with?: Deku. He’s SO CREATIVE. He’ll totally think about how to go out there or just how to survive, at least. I’d helped, of course, but he’s so utterly dependable with making solutions for situations apparently imposible to overcome... O.O Bless him 🤗💫💓💓

🅰- Fave student in Class 1-A: DEKU (I think you all know by now). I also like Ochako very much. They’re my cinnamon rolls, so sweet, gentle and... just the best cuties out there c:

👄- Best girl?: Uravity/Uraraka Ochako.

🐼- Fave animal-related quirk: Mmmm... Hawk’s Fierce Wings, at least for the moment. I love birds and the freedom flying seems to make you feel.

⚠- Flaws of BNHA that you hate: It’s very fast sometimes, and also a little convenient at times (but it’s pretty easy to fall into this kind of flaws when you’re writing a shounen manga, yk).

🔱- Most fave class: Class 1-A. Our class! :)

⚓- Department/Team: I don’t really get what this refers to (sorry English is not my mother tongue). Like... the Big Three, the Wild Wild Pussycats, the Villain League...??? Like those groups? :( Maybe the Deku or Bagugo team/squad?

♣- Fave non-hero/villain character (civilian): If we’re talking about NOW, Toshinori, if he can be considered a civilian because, you know... But I always loved Deku’s mom and now I’m also interested in Tsukauchi with the Illegals manga going on <3 (Still, Dad Might surpasses all of you guys, haha, sorry not sorry).

💀- Fave Villain?: (Bakugou? LMAO jk). Mmmmm. Gentle & LaBrava? Not really crimminals though... I’ll go with Kurogiri then... He looks like the father figure of the Villain League LOL He always try hard to help others staying calm and reasoning, particularly Shigaraki Tomura. It makes me feel guilty but I lowkey like that kind of relationships even if they’re bad news.

💯- Best Female Teacher: ... Not Midnight (not very interested in)... so... is any other woman teacher in the series yet?? xD The poor Masegaki Gakuen one seems like an underdog, gotta support her LMAO

👠- Best female fashion/costume: We could say Mina’s the most fashionable out of the girls. But I prefer Tsuyu and Hagakure‘s cute fashion (whenever one of them is wearing something LOL), being my favourite her cat-ears-hoodie from the movie.

About hero costumes, Ochako’s one is the cutest (special mention to the Fantasy RPG Game ending one. That’s the cutestest).

About hero costume, Deku’s one is the cutest and seems to be one of the most comfortable ones. Particularly the Betta one or the Gamma with the new airfoce support gloves. I don’t like the large ones design (but I know they’re important to protect his arms).

🗑- Who is your trash?: Mineta. I’m sorry, but... just, no. LMAO.

♨- Ship that you would go down to: “Go down to” = stop shipping them or support them even in the darkest moments?

If it’s the first, I don’t think I can do that until one of my ships show affection towards another person (for example, Kyoka-chan falling in love with someone who’s not Kaminari = I’d instantly stop shipping them if the other guy will be canon with her. If not, then there’s still a chance for KamiJirou, an so on). I stopped shipping ToshInko when I realized Deku HAS a father, almost instant moment I began shipping it LOL. (Still, Dad Might’s my favourite for Deku).

The fight vs stain was great too (and we’ll have to watch the Overhaul one in anime to judge it...).

🕳- Most shocking plot twist/unexpected scene: Deku freaking standing up against Muscular when he should be finished for right. It was indredible because I didn’t realized how much he had improved until then (even if it’s a typical emotional power up, I really didn’t expect him to have the energy, I swear O.O).

The first episode with AM’s true form was a comical one for this too, LOL.
