The fans of the triplets simply adored Y/N and Chris together, and that wasn't news. The number of comments and likes doubled whenever the girl appeared with her boyfriend in a random picture in a photo dump on Instagram or when her voice sounded in the background of a video.

But what they loved most was when a cute moment of the two of them together was captured during a video on the Sturniolo channel or in a fraction of seconds on Y/N's TikTok, and they made this clear by making thousands of compilations of these little moments, long enough to even post on YouTube.

1st minute:

The triplets and Y/N were walking down the sidewalk near the arena in Boston, where they played hockey with Nate.

Nick was recording himself with his phone, talking about how he had almost slipped on the ice several times, when Chris and Y/N's voices sounded, interrupting him. He focused the front camera on the two behind him, surreptitiously recording them.

"... But baby, it wasn't my fault." Y/N complained, her lips forming a pout as her eyes focused on the floor.

"Babe, I asked you to record the game, right?" Chris asked, an amused smile on his face.

They walked side by side, the girl's right arm around her boyfriend's slightly sweaty waist, while Chris's left arm rested on Y/N's shoulders, his fingers caressing her left bicep lightly.

"Yes, and I recorded it!" Her voice came out high-pitched.

"Okay, and how many times did I make a goal?" The boy asked again, raising his right eyebrow.

"Three." Y/N replied in an obvious tone, raising her eyes to look into the blue ones she loved so much. "You kissed me every time you did it." She smiles proudly.

"Yes, and how many of those three did you record?"

"None." She looked down again, her pout deepening. "But-"

Chris threw his head back, his laughter echoing through the night, interrupting his girlfriend's defense.

He leaned down slightly, sealing his lips over Y/N's head, an amused smile still on his face. Oh, how he loved his girlfriend.

2nd minute:

The triplets were filming the video "A night at the North Pole with Larray and Nai!". The camera was positioned in a strategic point so that the lens captured all the camping items around the room, as well as the brothers and the two guests.

Y/N was in her shared room with Chris, already dressed in her - his - pajamas and with her skincare done, ready for bed. But sleep never came.

She knew she had trouble sleeping without Chris after her body got used to the boy's presence pressed against hers every night for 5 years, so her mind didn't seem to give in, begging for the warmth that Chris's larger body provided.

After a few long minutes of turning from side to side, Y/N gave up trying. Sleep was taking over her, and she was feeling more and more stressed for not being able to go into dream land, so she decided to just go to her boyfriend.

Y/N rose from the bed, their duvet wrapped around her body like a cape. Her hands reached for the handle of the white door, closing it behind her and climbing the stairs in slow, silent steps caused by the fluffy socks that covered her feet.

Larray was the first to notice her - sitting facing the top of the stairs. He smiled, amused by his friend's condition; her eyes slightly closed from sleep, her hair high in a messy bun, and her hands gripping the edges of the duvet tightly.

Not many seconds passed, and Y/N's figure was finally caught by the camera, the girl having entered the frame.

"Hey, zombie girl." Nick joked when he noticed her, raising his eyebrows in amusement.

Y/N completely ignored him, walking towards her boyfriend from behind the triplets, not wanting to step on the food that was on the floor between the five of them.

Chris's face automatically lit up when he noticed her after hearing his brother, a big smile taking over as his eyes sparkled. He opened his arms, already waiting for his girlfriend's next move.

The girl smiled lazily back, planting her feet on the floor on either side of her boyfriend's hips, before lowering herself with Chris's help, sitting on his lap.

The brunette quickly wrapped her in his arms, surrounding her torso covered by the fluffy duvet. He hugged her tightly, laying his head in the crook of her neck and exhaling the sweet scent of her shampoo momentarily, before resting his chin on her shoulder, being able to see everything in front of him.

"Sleep, pretty girl."

3rd minute:

Chris was playing Fortnite live on Twitch. His camera was on and focused on his upper body. His head was covered by the hood of his hoodie, pressed against his ears by the headphone, from where muffled sounds from the video game were coming out.

Within 30 minutes of streaming, Y/N's figure shyly appeared behind Chris. Her hands held a tray with some snacks and an already opened can of Pepsi.

She walked towards her boyfriend, curving her spine slightly forward so that her face came into his field of vision, alerting him to her presence.

The boy's blue eyes widened in excitement almost instantly, a smile stretching across his face as his right hand worked on pausing the game, using the soles of his feet against the floor to turn his body towards her.

"Hi bubba, I just came to drop off some snacks for you. It's been a while since you had dinner, I thought you could be hungry." Y/N counted in a low tone, momentarily forgetting that Chris's headphones were of the highest quality, meaning it caught her every word.

The couple didn't notice the chaos in the chat, too focused on each other.

Chris bit his lower lip in an attempt to stop his smile from growing any wider, taking the tray from Y/N's hands and placing it on the free space on his computer desk.

He lifted his chin slightly in the air so that he brought his lips closer to hers, sealing them in a quick kiss, his eyes shining with intense love.

"Thank you, babe." Chris thanked in an equally low tone, adjusting himself in his chair again, ready to go back to playing.

Y/N smiled, caressing his shoulder lightly before turning to leave the room.

"I love you." The brunette shouted quickly before his girlfriend could close the door, receiving an "I love you more" in return.

4th minute:

The triplets and Y/N were at an Italian restaurant, having decided to go out to dinner together that day.

Y/N was talking to Matt about one of the random facts that the boy knew and blurted out of nowhere, the two deeply involved in the conversation.

The dishes had just been delivered by the waiter, who placed them respectively in front of the person who ordered, leaving shortly afterward.

Chris quickly pulled Y/N's plate towards himself, grabbing his own knife and fork and cutting the sirloin steak into small pieces and separating them from the pasta, knowing how much his girl hated cutting meat and how she always ate too quickly.

What he didn't notice was that Nick took out his phone the moment he started the gesture, closely recording his brother cutting his girlfriend's food, practicing the act of service.

After finishing, Chris lightly pushed the plate in front of his girl, turning around to start eating his own.

The girl smiled shyly, turning to Chris momentarily, sealing her lips over his cheek before murmuring a "thank you, babe" against his skin, turning her attention back to Matt.

5th minute:

The triplets were in their car, recording another car video. Y/N was their special guest, sitting in the backseat next to Chris, who chose to sit there just to be close to his girlfriend.

Y/N had just taken a bite of the pepperoni pizza that Nick took from the trunk, finishing chewing quickly so she could bring her point of view on something Nick was saying, gesturing with her right hand while her left held the piece carefully.

Chris watched her closely, his eyes fixed on her side profile as he listened, nodding his head.

Something the fandom loved was how Y/N was the only person Chris didn't interrupt all the time, showing himself completely interested in hearing anything his girl was saying, regardless of whether it made sense or not.

At one point, the boy lowered his eyes, stretching his right arm and taking one of the napkins that was on the car console, bringing it to Y/N's mouth, lightly wiping the corner of her lip that was dirty with sauce, but without interrupting her.

Chris folded the napkin, leaving it on his lap, knowing he would have to use it again soon.

6th minute:

"Look, boys, learn from Chris how to treat a girl right." Nick whispered from behind his phone.

He was standing behind the kitchen table, holding his cell in his right hand, the rear camera focused on the living room couch, where Y/N was.

The girl was lying on her side, her knees bent so that her thighs touched her chest. Her back was facing the room, while her face was lightly pressed against the back of the couch. A Fresh Love sweatshirt set covered her body, keeping her warm.

Small sighs escaped her half-open mouth, her eyes moving behind her eyelids, showing how deep her sleep was.

Chris, who was sitting with her feet on his lap seconds ago, was now standing in front of the couch, curving his spine down so that he could reach his girlfriend, slowly passing his arms under her neck and bent knees, pulling her up.

On instinct, Y/N raised her left arm, surrounding Chris's neck and laying her head on his chest, waking up for just a few seconds, caressing his covered skin with the tip of her nose.

"Shh, sleep baby. I'm right here." Chris murmured in a low tone, sealing her forehead lightly, stopping his movements as he watched her close her eyes again, falling back to sleep.

Chris moved slowly, hugging Y/N's body against his as he walked towards the stairs, not noticing Nick recording them from afar.

7th minute:

Y/N was sitting on the puff in front of her makeshift dressing table. Her phone was resting on it horizontally while her front camera recorded herself.

She was talking about the new trend in the fashion world, having as a hobby making videos for TikTok about fashion and makeup. While the girl explained in detail, her hands worked on doing her nighttime skincare, gesturing, and changing products alternately.

Chris's figure appeared behind her a few seconds after she started it, his hands holding Y/N's hairbrush. He was already ready to sleep, his eyes half closed with sleep and his hair slightly messy.

A habit created by the couple was that, while Y/N did her skincare before bed, Chris would carefully comb her hair, having always had a great love for her locks.

The boy approached his girlfriend, smiling quickly at the camera before stopping behind Y/N. His free hand parted her hair so he could comb it without hurting her or leaving any part behind.

Chris raised his hand with the hairbrush, starting to do it gently, untangling the knots created throughout the day and aligning the strands.

His eyes met Y/N's from time to time through the mirror, a small smile resting on his lips, adorning his passionate features.

8th minute:

It was the Versus Tour; Matt, Chris, and Nick were playing the last round of Giant Jenga when Chris spotted a fan with a sign held up.

"Wait, before we continue, can I read a sign from a fan real quick?" The brunette interrupted the group, holding his microphone with his right hand and pointing at the crowd with his left one, receiving absurdly loud screams in response.

Matt shrugged, looking at Nick, who nodded, making a go-ahead gesture with his hands.

"Hi! Can I read your sign?" Chris turned back to the audience, pointing to a specific girl. The girl's eyes widened, her mouth opening in shock at being noticed by her idol, taking a few seconds to finally nod her head repeatedly. "Your sign says, "I'm only here for Y/N"-"

Loud screams interrupted Chris, fans going wild at the mention of his girlfriend's name. The brunette took the microphone away from his mouth, laughing in disbelief and looking at a specific area on the right side of the stage.

A fan, who was in the audience and recording the moment, focused the rear camera of her phone on the place where Chris looked, being able to capture the figure of Y/N, who was laughing loudly and clapping her hands in amusement, shaking her head.

"Well, I can't judge you. Everywhere I am, I only go for Y/N, too." Chris muttered into his microphone again, laughing as he received even louder screams in response.

His eyes met his girlfriend's, throwing an air kiss and an "I love you" with just a movement of his lips, before turning his attention back to the game.

Extra minute:

The triplets and Y/N were at their house with Nate and Madi. Everyone was in the living room, talking about random topics while a movie played on the television at low volume, serving as ambient sound. Some board games were scattered on the floor, next to unopened or already eaten snacks.

Chris was sitting on a puff in front of the big windows while Y/N was on his lap. She had her legs thrown to one side while her torso was on the other, sitting sideways on Chris's thighs with her right shoulder resting on his chest.

Chris's arms encircled her body, his right one holding her waist while his left one caressed her thighs lightly.

The girl was talking about a situation she witnessed between a group of third-party friends, always keeping her boyfriend updated on the gossip.

What they didn't know was that Madi was recording their cute moment.

As Y/N spoke, Chris looked into her eyes intently, his gaze so full of love that Madi thought she could see hearts in the place of his pupils.

The brunette nodded from time to time, making it clear that he had his attention on her and understood everything she was saying, an almost imperceptible smile resting on the corner of his lips.

The two seemed to be surrounded by a bubble created just for them, the entire outside world completely forgotten.

That was their dynamic, and the triplets fandom loved it.

"They're kind of annoying aren't they?" Haechan asked. His eyes were locked on you and Renjun across the space. He didn't care that people were walking in front of him, people complaining that he wasn't moving, people bumping into him. No, he was staring at you and Renjun standing at some clearly rigged basketball game. Renjun was shooting the ball and missing every shot because the hoop was rigged.

"They're not annoying, they're just... shy," Jaemin offered. His look was less annoyed and more one of admiration. He liked to see you and Renjun interact. It was innocent and cute. All the lingering glances and brushes of the hands. It was guaranteed that if you weren't together, one of you would be staring at the other with hearts in your eyes. It was cute.

You and Renjun came back, hand in hand. Renjun had a pout on his face. You reached your friends and dropped Renjun's hand and his pout intensified. You smiled brightly at your friends, "We should get on some rides!"

Haechan's eyes sparkled with mischief, he was up to something, "We should get on the Ferris wheel! Let's go!"

Before you knew it you were all being ushered to the line. The line went by quickly, soon enough you were being seated in a double seat with Renjun. Haechan and Jaemin joined the seat that followed.

The Ferris wheel went around 3 times, all the while you and Renjun laughed, taking pictures of the bright, colorful lights below you, selfies of the two of you, even pictures of Haechan and Jaemin behind you.

On the last rotation, you laid your head on on Renjun's shoulder with a content sigh as you looked out at the view, "Thank you for inviting me, baby."

Renjun rested his head on top of yours, answering quietly, "I would do anything for you."

Haechan looked on intrigued, "what do you think they're saying?"

"Leave them alone! And be quiet, we're not even that far away," Jaemin chided in a whisper yell.

You could hear the two of them chattering behind you incoherently. They were funny, but Haechan had been acting strange, always making sure you and Renjun ended up alone at some point of you all hanging out. He always asked you what you two were up to while they were away, what you talked about, if anything had happened.

"Don't kill me for being cheesy, but I really want a picture of us kissing on the Ferris wheel. Do you mind?" Renjun asked. He was shy, you could tell from his pink cheeks that were much brighter and not just from the cold.

You looked at him with a soft laugh, "You're so cute, Jun. Of course."

He waited until you were at the top of Ferris wheel, people from the bottom were climbing off and a new pair of people were climbing on. Renjun held his phone tightly, face heating as you reached over and cupped his face with your cold hands. The camera was open as you both leaned in and kissed. His lips were soft and cold from the winter weather, but his kiss was loving and warm.

"Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Jaemin take a picture! This is the best day of my life!" Haechan screeched.

Jaemin obliged, watching on with admiration at his friends being loving. He was able to snap a few pictures before Renjun looked back and glared coldly at Haechan.

The Ferris wheel came to a stop and you both climbed off, waiting off to the side for your friends to join you. Haechan was shaking with excitement, pulling on the bar keeping him in his seat only to get his hands swatted away with a scowl from the attendant. He jumped right over Jaemin and practically skipping over to the two of you, "So? When did this happen? Oh my god, best friends to lovers! I love it!"

You looked at Renjun with a quizzical look, Haechan didn't know? You don't even know when the transition from best friends went from friendship to something more. One day it was lingering brushes of your hands and the next it was kissing. You both hadn't even taken note of the change until you were both laying in your bed, tangled together and cuddling when Renjun asked, "we should probably make this official right?"

You hummed, thinking of your answer, "Like six- almost seven months ago."

"Months?! You guys didn't tell me?" Haechan asked after he gaped at you both like a dying fish.

"I didn't realize you'd be so involved or concerned," Renjun answered with his brows pinched.

"I've been trying to get the two of you to confess all this time! For nothing! Did you know?" Haechan ranted, stopping when he looked at Jaemin.

My Top 5 BL Kisses of Jan (& Feb) 24 + why

Okay, okayyyyy I'm doing this, no backing out. I offically accept that analyzing kisses takes up so much of my brainspace that I can write about it — so here it goes. I'M NOT HIDING ANYMORE BUT OWNING UP TO IT! (lol, chill)

Last year I complained that I didn't get a single perfect kiss since I started watching BL TV shows (until PhayaTharn turned up) and now we're not even a quarter into the new year and I already got FIVE I'm absolutely in AWE about!! FIVE!!

I don't know if it's the actors, directors or coaches who upped their game (probably all of them) but hot damn, all of these are beautiful.

And don't ask me why I'm into kiss-acting so much I have no fucking clue, my first guess is that it's an artform in itself to make this amazing, wonderful, intimate form of touching look as beautiful as it feels — bc let's be honest here, irl kissing rarely looks pretty no matter how great it is! So I think it's just dope when you can see this beauty translated on screen.

So I guess this is peak romance genre for me and with that being said, enough talking, lets get to the kissykissies!

5. TenPrem - Cooking Crush EP. 11

I have to be honest with you, I was a bit confused by the kissing in this show. The tippytoe kiss was cute as heck but we all saw how Off AND Gun awkwardly blinked because they probably had to stay like that for a looooong time. It took the whole magic out of the whole first-kiss-moment. Same with the forced in, reshot makeout-scenes. But the kiss in the kitchen? Looks like they FINALLY got to show what they got.

Ten gently pulling Prem closer, them smoothly moving against each other, Ten closing in even more, the slightly open-mouthed kiss with their lips perfectly caressing each other, Ten with a bit more force, Prem with a bit more heat resulting in the perfect mix...Loved it, mwah.

4. PromNont - Playboyy EP. 12

They are my one Playboyy-couple where I'm like "if they don't end up married and running Playboyy together, starting the revolution of well-payed, insured and safe sex workers I'm gonna riot" even though I know this show will not end nicely for ANYONE.

Anyways, this kiss. Holy smokes they had so many good scenes but this one took the cake. Not just the sheer length of it (but still with perfect timing and breaks).

The slightest suck on Nonts upper lip, Prem literally making Nont sway, Nonts hidden desperation for Prom surfacing from his lips, them slowly but surely turning up the heat and last but not least, Prom grabbing Nonts face just to lean against him...UGH THEM!

3. Myungha & Yeowoon - Love for Love's Sake EP 8

I know I'm not alone in how this show swept me off my feet and hit me right in the feels. But I've gotta say, this kiss hit completely different. Again they kissed for so long but not a single moment felt wasted. It felt like their whole story put in a single kiss. And — I mean that in the most loving and positive way possible — they kissed so amazingly gay. Do you know what I mean?!

There's just this level of love, care and happiness that only queer couples can convey. Sprinkled with a hint of tongue (I saw that Yeowoon 👀) — they absolutely nailed it.

2. AlanJeff - Pit Babe EP. 11

The kiss that made me consider doing this post in the first place. I saw them and shouted THIS IS PERFECT just to realize that I did this a few weeks ago already and it made me spiral a little. In the best way possible because I felt truly blessed once again to have discovered the genre of BL in their golden era!

Because this right here is how you nail an open mouthed kiss my friends. Take notes BL producers. Put this in your textbooks! They both go at the same rythm (slow, careful but so, so loving JUST LIKE THEIR RELATIONSHIP UGH) and same level of touch so their lips caress each other perfectly. Furthermore, Alan knows exactly how to meet Jeff which is also a PERFECT EXTENSION OF HIS CHARACTER! Alan leads, Jeff follows but they meet perfectly and equally. TEN OUT OF TEN NO NOTES!

1. PhayaTharn - The Sign EP. 9

I don't understand the meaning of the "Roman Empire"-thing but I think if I say they are mine, I am correct because they will be the end of me and that's what that means right? I may be biased AF but objectively speaking, this is just an insanely well acted-out scene, PERIOD! And we all know it's thanks to Billybabes out-of-this-world-chemistry!

Phayas desperation translated into this gorgeous lip-clash, so much yearning but softness at the same time but what really got to me was how Tharn immediately melted after their lips touched, how he immediately opened up to him and got completely overwhelmed by Phayas feelings. Chapeau to Babe for showing so much range in a single second. My favorite kiss of the whole series ❤️

I also just realized all these kisses have one thing in common....hands on faces lol.

New sagau idea?

This is my first time posting something on tumblr but I just wanna say that I'm getting tired of seeing the imposter! sagau au where the player/creator is so forgiving once they were declared innocent and not the imposter or something like that.

The eldritch one was good but kinda expecting to go to the dark territory. The yandere one is kinda okay but need more spicy with the creator personality. The one with letter is wholesome in a way but I'm a picky person and the player's personality is just not to my taste.

So uh, I'm just gonna drop some ideas to spice some new inspiration or something. Apologize if these aus/ideas already exist.

Indifferent god/player

You play the game to pass time, you don't even bother speaking, only staying silent the whole duration and maybe murmuring some dissapointing things on the characters when they don't reach your expectation. The characters designs are nice and maybe the personality but you don't give a damn about them. You probably don't read their story or voiceline or something. But anyway, whether they have sobs story or not, you already have enough and don't care as well.

Almost everything bore you and the only thing that keep you going is the curiousity for the ending so you tried to level up and give them the best artifacts so you can speed run or something.

Once you are inside the game, the first thing you do is sigh loudly.

You dont know who the hell is the creator they speak of that finally arrived in Teyvat cause your day is ruined from being approached by the characters who won't leave you alone. (You got that divine presence and distant looks in your eyes that made them tremble with realisation when in fact you're just annoyed with them, never giving them a single glance. "out of sight, out of mind")

You are the Watcher of Teyvat, the God of all Gods and you are finally descending to Teyvat which you create "lovingly" with your bare hands. (Not that you know about that)

Now the characters feeling towarda you can be varies. The characters may be feeling grateful because you helped them getting stronger which may lead to stronger devotion.

Your hurtful comments back in your previous world sometimes drove them insane which may lead them feeling desperate and insecure, ashamed and upset as well as letting their self confidence dwindled. Sometimes they questioned themselves why aren't they abandoned yet and why are they gifted with powerful artifacts instead? So lots misunderstandings here.

The Archons probably go crazy trying to figure out how to please you. Wanting to be by your side and show you how Teyvat came to be under their rule and after that. Use them however you wish, the rules of Teyvat bend to your will and all will act according to you. Maybe that's why their gnoses is in the form of chess pieces? For you to play and use with?

The Fatui harbingers probably have complicated feelings about you. 2) Introvert simping god/player

You are a Genshin Impact lover. You buy every merchandise possible and owned so many of their cosplay. You are probably the top 5 best genshin gamer and made some theories judging by what the game had shown you. No characters can escape your gushing as praises bullet out of your mouth. Nothing in the game could escape you cause you love them so much.

Unfortunately, as much as you love them from the roots of their hair to their fine shoes and the blackest and goodest of hearts, you don't want to be in their world.

Because you are an introvert and a simp! These combinations can't be good if you are to meet one of them!

The solution? Hide.

Needless to say, your ability to become one with the background unintentionally shut off your heavenly divine presence. You became the world's best hider, no Fatui could ever catch a glimpse of your shadow nor an Adeptus nor Archons. Always a game of mouse and cats yet theres no progress in catching the skittish mouse.

You refuse to meet them and can only look from a far. Staring with awe when they fought or walk or talk or whatever they do. It's like seeing an idol in a way.

In short, you're a stalker.

When they learn about how you look like, every place is not safe anymore. Everyone is looking for you, eager to meet you. But not you. By the power of cosplay, it's easy to avert meeting them.

And now, you are not the only world's best hider but the world's best at disguising themself as well.

3) Eldritch god/player

What if Teyvat is only one and the players is many? When you descend to Teyvat, some said you are tall, some said you are short and others said you are a male and another the opposite sex. They even said your hair was curly and black but the other refuted, saying yours was wavy and blonde.

Introducing you. A god who is all yet one individual. A god whose everything changes from one person to another's respectives. Sometimes the same person see you in a different appearance which confused many.

Your whole being is unpredictable, sometimes you're upset and then happy and then angry, all in the blink of a moment. even your accents changes, following the tongue of the one who is speaking currently.

Sometimes, when the feeling is getting intense, mostly anger, the face(s) morph into something horrible as if it couldn't decide which face(s) to take (or was it these players are feeling the same thing at once?) or what language to speak, resulting in gibberish words falling out your many mouth(s). Your eyes however are staring at the cause of your feelings, (enemy? the one that hurts you? experiment purpose?) All varieties of colours ranging from hazelnut to black.

The Archons are regal and full of divine aura, beautiful and something worthy to behold and worship.

But you are a different existence, leaning toward the dark and gory side than the Archons or the whole Teyvat.

But you are still a god, the God of all Gods.

Are you worthy to be loved and worshipped and to be behold?

Yes? No?

You're not you and you're also not them. Yet you are you and you are them.

Acceptance and violence, you have no problem to choose.

The feelings of the many you(s) are distorted and cannot be comprehend.

Author's note: LET ME TELL YOU I HAVE NEVER WANTED TO FIGHT SOMEONE AS MUCH AS I DID WRITING THIS! Literally had this vision in my head and I got so heated I knew this was going to be a good chapter. MUAHAHA all the spooky vibes from Halloween are getting to me. I hope you guys enjoy this one because the plot is thickening. Also, I might be making a far stretch on one of the jokes i put in here... I am pretty sure these don't exist in ACOTAR but for the sake of the joke, just pretend they do 😭

Summary: After everyone in the Town House finding out about your night with Lucien and bond with Azriel, you have a nice relaxing night in with your girls... or so you thought it would be relaxing.

Chapter 5: "GYNO?"

While you were getting ready, Feyre and Rhysand were back in their room discussing what they had just learned about you-

“What should we do Rhys? Az has been wishing for his mate for so long, but little does he know that he has been so infatuated with Elain it’s caused a blockage of his bond with y/n!” as she too is getting ready for girl’s night.

“The only thing we can do is be there for y/n and for Az when the time comes. This is a very peculiar situation y/n and Az have gotten themselves into,” he chuckles as he places his hands on the sides of her waist looking at her getting ready.

“I know, and this just has gotten messier with time. It already was messy enough with Lucien being Elain's mate and her liking Az. But now, y/n being Azriel’s mate and liking Lucien just seems way too coincidental. I can tell she likes him; she is just in denial because she's still holding onto some glimmer of hope with Azriel,” she pauses. “Something just feels off Rhys,” as she starts to think through what could be going on.

“I also feel like there is something is off, and I think it’s deeply rooted. Only time will tell Feyre darling,” he says as he kisses the top of her head as she finishes up getting ready.

“I would just hate for any of them to get hurt…” she frowns up at Rhys.

“And no one will, because we will be there for them every step of the way no matter what happens,” he reassures her with a soft kiss on her lips. “Now, go have some fun with the girls tonight! But not too much fun,” he looks at her with a playful smile.

“We cannot promise anything,” she giggles. “GNI here I come!”

“GNI?” Rhys questions at the unfamiliar term.

“GNI stands for “Girls Night In,” usually it is GNO, but staying in sounds better since we were out a Rita's not too long ago.” She explains.

“GNO? Isn't that a lady doctor?” Feyre burst out into full on laughter. Tears were spilling from her eyes from laughing so hard. Rhys just looked at her questioningly because he didn’t understand what was so funny.

“Rhys… oh bless your soul… GNO is the same thing as GNI, but you go out instead of staying inside. A lady doctor is called a gyno! Oh, I am so telling the girls this!” As she wipes the tears from her eyes and catches her breath.

“Ahh shit… I'm never living that down now…”

“Nope,” as she pops the end of the word as she walks down to the living room for girl's night.

You walk down the stairs into the main living room to find all the girls already there giggling over wine all cozy in their pajamas.

“Wow, already started without me huh?” you say with a fake frown. They all look at you and smile, clearly already seeing some effect of the wine Mor brought.

“No! Just decided to pre-game a little bit!” Mor smiles at you and walks to you to link arms and lead you over to the group. You giggle.

“Well then, the party has arrived! Looks like I need a couple of glasses to catch up to you all!” you laugh. You look over and spot Amren and give her a polite smile. “It's nice to see you again Amren!”

“You too girl,” she says. “We have a lot of catching up to do!” She eyes you a bit eager to know what has been going on, but Feyre steps in.

“Nonono! I am putting a veto on discussing all things that have happened recently! We are here to forget about that and have fun! Now ladies raise your glasses,” Amren rolls her eyes, but everyone raises their wine, “and cheers to us girls and the wonderful night ahead of us!” Everyone whoops and laughs as they take a swig of their wine. You decide to down your glass to try and catch up as everyone cheers you on!

“Thats how you do it baby!” Mor pats you on the back and goes to pour you another glass.

“Oh, this night in is going to be quite interesting,” Amren says with a grin.

“Speaking of, I have something to tell you guys about what Rhys asked me earlier,” Feyre burst into laughter.

“What is it? Tell us girl!” Amren says inpatient with her laughing.

“Rhysand asked me what GNI meant, and I explained that it is basically GNO but instead of going out we stay in the comfort of our own home,” Feyre explained trying to hold in her laughter.

“Ok so like basic information, I don’t understand what is so funny?” Nesta asked confused.

“It gets funny I promise! Rhysand didn’t know what the abbreviation of GNO meant either. He said, and I quote, “GNO? Isn't that a lady doctor?”” As Feyre erupted into a fit of laughter. “He thought GNO was a gyno!”

You were the first to laugh, “You’re joking?”

“I wish I was!” Feyre was on the ground crying, and everyone soon joined her. Even Amren choked on her wine a bit from laughing at the situation Feyre just informed you guys of. Oh, poor Rhys is never going to hear the end of this one from any of you guys.

A couple of glasses later everyone is most definitely feeling the effects of the wine a lot stronger than when you first started. All of you are cuddled up together in blankets giggling over anything and everything. You decided to bring something up that you have been curious about ever since you saw it.

“Hey, Nesta! When I came home earlier today, I saw Cassian reading one of your little books.” You wink at her. “What is the book about, and why was Cassian studying it so intently?” Nesta blushes.

“I made him read a specific chapter on something that I wanted to try…” she admits quietly as she drinks more of her wine. Everyone started screaming asking to know what it was.

“Oh, Nesta come on!! You have to tell us what it is now! We are all girls here, we can handle book smut, I'm sure!” Mor says as she sits up eagerly.

“Yeah, please Nesta!” everyone says simultaneously.

“You guys want a smutty bedtime story?” She giggles as she leaves to go to get her book, and everyone cheers. Nesta comes back with the book, and everyone is already in giggles excited about hearing something they might be able to apply into their lives. “Get comfortable girls because this chapter is going to be wild!”

Everyone’s faces were bright pink along with their jaws being on the floor hearing Nesta read the chapter from the sheer number of descriptions given. Amren was the only one who remained stone faced throughout the whole thing, but you could tell every word that fell from Nesta's lips were remembered by Amren.

“Well, I can surely see why you had Cassian read that chapter now,” Amren smirked as she finished off her glass.

“Especially with his wingspan,” you said quietly, but it did not go unheard as everyone looked your way. “What?! You guys act like you don’t see his wings every day! A girl can appreciate big wingspans and think nothing of it!” Except you do think about it a lot. Curious to know which one of the bat boys has the biggest one. Everyone giggles at your comment.

“Don’t let Cassian hear that y/n, it’ll go straight to his head and then he will tell Rhysand and Az that he has the biggest one,” Nesta said with a knowing smile.

“I don’t mean to be inappropriate, but I think everyone forgets about Rhyland's wings since he only has them for special occasions.” Feyre said smirking.

“Oh little sister, are you challenging my mate’s wingspan?” Nesta eyed playfully, but before Feyre could respond you chirped in with one more fact.

“Ladies we are forgetting about one more male,” you started to blush at the thought of your mate’s wingspan.

“Oh, my gods, Azriel!” Mor finished it for you with a shout, totally feeling dumb not even thinking about the male. “If I am being brutally honest, I think he blows the other two out the water with his wingspan,” Mor said with a smirk as she twirled her wine glass and gave you a wink. This made you really blush now.

“You really think Azriel has the biggest wingspan?” Feyre asked.

“Yes.” Amren spoke and this all made you laugh hearing her agree on something like this.

“Has anyone seen Azriel’s-” Nesta tried to question.

“No,” was heard throughout the room before Mor looked at you knowingly.

“The only person in this room who could even get that close would-be y/n,” Mor said matter of factly. You blushed so hard you hid your face behind your hands.

“Mor! Stop I don’t want that image in my head!” You said giggling.

“I wouldn’t mind it…” Nesta said with a smirk remembering her thought of both Cassian and Azriel. Once again everyone laughed. This night was full of so much comfort and laughter you truly felt so at peace. However, with wine come consequences.

“Oh I forgot y/n only favors a certain red head in bed,” Mor said without thinking.

“MOR!!” You glared at her, and she slapped her hands over her mouth and said sorry. But it was too late, they all heard it.

“YOU HAD SEX WITH LUCIEN?! I thought yall just cuddled all night?!” Feyre asked with a squeal scooting closer to you.

“Ah shit- I guess yall get to know everything now… Before I met you guys, I lived in the spring court for a while,” Mor sat back and nursed her wine waiting for the reaction of the others on what you were about to tell. You tell them the story just as you had with Mor in the bathroom at Rita's. Everyone was in shock to find out about your hidden casual sex relationship with the autumn court male. Feyre was once again the one to speak up first.

“Is what they say true?”

“Is what true Feyre?” you asked back.

‘About them you know… fucking you with the fire in their veins?” Feyre asked eagerly. Everyone then scooted closer to you just like Feyre did earlier. You giggled at their anticipation.

“Yes, and it is so much more than you could even imagine.” Everyone squealed at your response!

“Screw my book y/n, tell us about a time you and Lucien had sex together! I want to hear all about the fire thing!!” Nesta said as everyone else agreed, even Amren is eager. However, before you could respond you heard a sweet voice you wished you hadn’t.

“Y/n, you had sex with my mate?!” Elain said as she had just walked through the door with Azriel, both had bags in their hands from their shopping spree.

“Oh shi-” Mor said before Elain moved closer to you, Azriel following close behind her eyeing you with anger.

“Answer me y/n! Did you or did you not have sex with my mate?!” Elain raised her voice this time.

“Elain I- I don’t know what you heard but I can explain,” you tried to reason with her for gods know what. You owed this female nothing but here you were trying to diffuse the situation. She threw her bag to the floor and pointed a finger at your face.

“NO! You expect me to hear you out after I come home to see everyone having a girl’s night without me, let alone talking about you and Lucien having sex? You are such a backstabbing sl-” before Elain could finish that sentence off Nesta was at her side.

“Elain, seriously drop it. Y/n has a valid explanation, just hear her out,” Nesta pleaded but Elain didn’t care. Maybe it was the protectiveness of the bond coming out of her, but she was not backing down.

“No! I am done being the polite one! You had sex with my mate behind my back! Is that why you both left Rita's? I cannot believe you y/n! No wonder you haven’t found your mate! It’s because you are too busy being a slut and fucking someone else’s mate!” She was fully in your face now; you looked behind her to see Azriel looking like he was about to kill you for hurting Elain. Feyre tried to step in this time.

“Elain, you do not know what you are talking about, you need to stop now before you say something you will regret!”

“Feyre, I do know what I am talking about! I heard it clear as night! She fucked my mate!” You just about had enough of being talked about this way. You kindly pushed Feyre and Nesta away from Elain and gave them small smiles to say sorry for what you were about to do.

“You know Elain, that’s a lot of talk coming from you. A female who has a mate that gladly agreed to her wishes on space. He sleeps alone every night waiting for the day that you will accept him! Oh, but poor Elain has no one to love and accept her! Wake the fuck up! Your mate has done everything for you since the day he found out, and yet you are sleazing yourself away to someone else!” You point at Azriel. “You want to talk about a slut, look in the fucking mirror!” Nesta and Feyre are looking at each other not knowing what to do, while Amren and Mor decide to stay out of it and observe the situation, ready to jump in when needed.

“Be careful how you speak about-” Azriel’s voice said dangerously low, but before he could finish that sentence you cut him off.

“Oh, don’t give me that shit Az! It might have worked in that meeting but it sure as hell isn’t going to work here!” You glared at him. “You are just as much a part of this as I am! Letting her fawn over you knowing she has found her mate is ludicrous! Especially when you’re the one who has dreamt of having a mate to call his own for years! What if your mate was standing right in front of you all along?” Everyone in the room goes silent at your words as you step into his personal space. Azriel's shadows are dancing furiously around him as he glares at you. You try pulling on the bond but are met with nothing in return except emptiness. He still doesn't know.

“You bitch!” Elain cautiously pushes you away from Az. “How dare you talk to us this way when you’re the one who threw themself at my mate knowingly! At least we have self-control!” she pushes her finger against your chest. You swat it away.

“GODS ELAIN! Why do you always have to play the victim! You can never admit to anything you have done wrong! You and him both,” you point at her and Az, “are hurting more people than you realize with whatever you want to call yourselves!”

“Well at least we are happy, unlike your mate less self-” Elain tried to say as you yelled-

“THAT’S IT!” in an instant everyone was in between you. Nesta, Feyre, and Amren blocked you from Elain as Azriel and Mor held you back. “Let me go Azriel!” you thrash in their grip. You watch as Feyre and Nesta try and calm their sister. Amren serving as a middle ground between both groups. You keep thrashing around but it's no use. The shadow singer has you in a tight hold as Mor holds one of your arms. You look at Mor with pleading eyes, but she just shakes her head at you as if to say, “fighting her isn’t right.” And you knew that… You were just so taken back by both her and Azriel being against you without hearing your explanation. Sure, Elain was somewhat valid, but nowhere near as valid as the points you were making.

You soon calmed down and looked at Mor again, “Can you please let me go now? I won’t do anything… anymore.” Mor looked at Az and he put his lips against you ear and said-

“If you so much as think about insulting her or hurting her, I will not hesitate to fire back violence, so be a good girl and walk away.” You cannot lie, having your mate that close to you and hearing him call you a good girl had your heart betraying you for a moment. You shoved yourself out of their grip and stormed towards the door before you would do anything regrettable.

“Where do you think you’re going?! I am not done with you y/n!” Elain screamed as you walked past, the jealousy of the bond obviously still influencing her. You stopped in your tracks and turned around to see Azriel now trying to calm her down. Tears collected in your eyes at the sight. He was supposed to be doing that with you, not her! You begged, screamed, yelled, pushed, and thrashed against that bond inside of you fighting for any kind of response. You don’t know how long you stood there mindlessly watching him comfort Elain as you used every fiber of your being against the bond and got nothing in return. That was your last straw. The wicked voice in your head took full control. Quite literally letting all intrusive thoughts win. You started laughing.

“Gods Elain you have everyone in this damn world wrapped around your pretty little finger, don’t you? Well guess what, I see right through your fucking act of desperation for the male gaze and male attention.” Azriel looked at you as a warning to watch your next words, but Elain ran out of his arms and ran straight to you. You and she were now face to face. A test to see who was daring enough to hit first.

“Fuck you y/n!!” Elain said with a pause between each word, and you smirked.

“I may not be able to fuck myself Elain, but you know what I can fuck?” you slightly paused as the realization hit her. “I can go fuck with fire!” you say with a wink as you walk out the Town House’s front door straight to Lucien’s apartment.

Lucien’s POV:

Lucien was relaxing on his couch reading one of his favorite books before he felt it. An overwhelming flood of emotions hitting him. It was as if they were screaming at him from two different ends of the bond. He learned how to process Elain’s end of the bond throughout the years, but whatever was going on was too much to deal with. This was all unknown feeling. Lucien ran to grab his coat and he quickly put it on. Just as he was reaching for his door to run to Elain, he heard a hard knock. He opened the door to find you in a fit of rage as you stormed inside. “Okay, just come on in why don’t you.” he said sarcastically as he shut the door behind you. "Nice pajamas by the way," he says jokingly before looking at you to see you glaring at him. "Shit, who pissed in your wine tonight?"

My one bit of advice I think every gamer should hear:

GO PLAY OUTER WILDS.

Seriously. It is easily one of my top 5 games of all time, and that's mainly because I'm being cagey about if it's the #1, because it probably is.

It's a game where you're a little alien who is taking their first flight into space, in their little spaceship. You go to space and find a mystery, and have to figure it out.

It's a game entirely about learning things about the world you're in: it's a tiny solar system modeled amazingly well, with varied planetary environments, archaeology, and quantum fun.

It's a game that's hard to talk about without spoiling, because it's about solving the mysteries. There used to be some other aliens here, they're long gone. What happened to them? Their whole society was built around trying to find something: what was it? Did they find it? And there's a weird disastrous event that keeps happening, why? Can you stop it? Should you stop it? Is it connected to the other weird things that keep happening? What happened to that ice planet that exploded with vines? One of the astronauts who came before you was the best pilot who ever lived, but they vanished. What happened to them? And why can you sometimes hear their harmonica over the radio when you point it at your own planet?

The game is wonderful and non-linear and the most unique approach to a Metroidvania I've seen years: it's basically "what if we did the Metroidvania idea but with no items or power ups? What if the thing that you got to unlock new areas WAS INSIDE THE PLAYER'S HEAD?"

Because you don't unlock the next area by picking up the high-jump boots, you unlock it by learning something new. Now you can do something you didn't realize you could before, but now you know you can.

And that's only one of the amazing concepts they stuffed in this game. The itemless Metroidvania, the tiny simulated solar system, the quantum mechanics... Each of these alone could be enough to carry an indie game. They stuffed them all in one game combined with a great story, and that's in a gamewith relatively little dialogue!

There's like a dozen people to talk to, but you spent a lot of time reading conversations left by the long-gone aliens. You get to know them, what they were working for, how they interacted, and what happened to them, thousands of years later. It's less the bioshock style audio-logs, and more like going over bits of ancient writing, making connections and correlations from the fragments you can find.

And don't get me wrong, this might sound like this game is going to be dry and boring: it is so very not. It is a game about mysteries in the void of space, the death of a civilization, and the potentially world-ending dangers that face a living one, and even bigger concepts. It could so easily be a cosmic horror, about the cold death of space and the universe itself, and the nihilism of realizing that even a race that could cross the gap between the stars and bend spacetime to their will... They too died out. If they couldn't make it, what hope do you have, in your little spaceship that's primarily made of WOOD?

And yet... The game is always engaging. It has a few scares, and space is never a safe place to be, but it maintains a sense of humor and wonder. Yes, the universe can be scary, but it's also amazing. And you're just a little salamander-guy who wants to see it all, and figure out all the things. Maybe you don't know something yet, but tomorrow is a new day, and you can go blasting off to another planet, find some writing in a city suspended upside down over a black hole, try to fly into the core of a water planet, dodge giant anglerfish inside the warped space of an exploded planet, and try to explore an ancient city that's slowly filling with sand. It is a game about Things Ending, and it refuses to give into despair. It is one of the most relentlessly optimistic games I have ever played.

And the experience of playing it is so unique. This isn't a game where you could watch a letsplay and only get spoiled on some plot points, it's a game where the fundamental gameplay loop is about learning things. You should try it for yourself. It's got hints and many different avenues to explore (and it even keeps track of them for you, in case you forget!), so you don't have to worry much about getting stuck for too long. You can always put aside a "puzzle" and come back later, after you've learned more. (I put puzzle in quotes because it's not exactly a puzzle game. It's more of a mystery game. You aren't solving a logic puzzle or putting the pegs into the right holes, you're asking "Why is this like this? Where does this go? What is this for?" and then figuring that out from clues)

It's like 25$ on steam, and you can get it for Playstation and Xboxes as well (sadly no Switch version. They were working on one but it seems that version has stalled, with no announced release date)

You can probably get it for like 10$ if you're patient and wait for a sale.

One final note: there's also a DLC. The DLC is fully self-contained, in that you won't miss anything playing the main game without it. It basically adds a huge side-area to the game which goes and fills in some gaps in the history, explains some things, and introduces some more variety to the Outer Wilds universe.

It's utterly amazing, too. It's basically Outer Wilds 2 in everything but name, but it's totally fine to just grab the base game and play that. You can always come back and grab the DLC later if you want more Outer Wilds.

Seriously. To sum up, Outer Wilds is one of the greatest games ever made, it won a ton of awards, and it should have won more. They should invent more gaming awards just to give to Outer Wilds. This is one of the games that is going to be talked about in future "history of gaming" classes and put on lists of the 50 most groundbreaking and influential games, alongside things like Myst and King's Quest and Zork and Mass Effect. It's just that good, that groundbreaking.

top 5 ttrpgs for beginners

Sorry that this one took me a bit longer to answer than all the other Top 5 asks :p i wanted to explain a bit of my reasoning behind it and this gave me q chance to ramble a bit about something that bothers me lol

So, first of all I want to talk about what TO ME makes something a good beginner RPG.

Ramble:

I've talked a bit in the past about how I have sort of a bone to pick with the way so many people, when asked for recs for beginner TTRPGs, immediately decide to recommend extremely rules-light/minimalist/one-page RPGs (Hacks of Lasers&Feelings in particular seem to be somewhat popular on this front), when IMO these types of RPGs are at their best when played by an experienced group (or at the very least with least one very experienced player/GM who can provide some guidance to the others). I think a lot of ppl seem to have the impression that simpler mechanics inherently make a game more beginner-friendly, and that thus the most beginner-friendly games are inherently gonna be the ones with the simplest mechanics. And while this is true to an extent (a 700-page RPG with tons of complicated mechanics to remember is obviously gonna be inaccessible to beginners), when you consider that mechanics exist to DELEGATE decisions about the fiction away from the players and the GM so that they don't have to manually arbitrate them every time, there is point where less mechanics are gonna make harder for new players because it means there's more thing they're gonna have to find a way to arbitrate on and decide by themselves, and that's a skill that takes time to develop. An experienced group can probably get a ton of mileage out of a system that essentially ammounts to "the GM describes the world. The players describe what their characters do, and the GM describes how the world reacrs. When the outcome of a player action is uncertain, then [simple resolution mechanic]" but a beginner group is gonna be a little lost. Especially if the game, like many of these types of games, includes practically nothing in terms of GM tools. So I think recommending beginner RPGs solely on the base of how simple they are is well-intentioned but misguided.

(Ramble over)

So, some of what, to me, makes something a good beginner RPG is

Rules provide enough support that the group won't have to constantly be figuring out how to adjudicate stuff on the fly, but they're simple and flexible enough that they're easy to remember and learning them doesn't feel like a daunting task like it does with a certain game (*cough cough* D&D)

Relatively short and uni timidating. Maybe between like 20 and 100 pages. Players should be able to read through the rules and mechanics in one sitting.

Plenty of examples of play, often a good example of play is what makes a game's rules really *click* for a new player.

Relatively quick and painless to start running for the first time. Character creation should be quick and snappy, and if possible a short pre-written adventure (hopefully with some room to be expanded into something larger) should be included within the same book and ready to run out of the box. Even if your group doesn't like using prewritten adventures, having a *good* prewritten adventure can be a huge help in understanding how to write/design them.

Solid set of GM tools and resources (if it's a game with a GM, of course)

Optionally, plenty of compatible material to either use or take inspo from.

So, I think my recs would for beginner games would be...

Mausritter

If any of you have EVER heard me talk about RPGs you knew Mausritter was gonna be here TBH. I've repeatedly talked about it being one of my favorite RPGs and also that I consider it pretty much an ideal introduction to the hobby. I think the woodland critter theme is extremely charming and attractive for people of any age, while the slightly darker elements that rear their head from time to time keep it from feeling too childish.

The mechanics are simple and flexible but still provide enough structure that even a new GM will rarely if ever be at a loss about how to resolve a particular action. They're familiar to anyone who's played a dungeon game while still being extremely streamlined. 3 stats with the main action resolution being roll-under tests, no classes, characters are defined mostly by their inventory, all attacks auto hit and initiative is extremely streamlined, which keeps combat quick and dynamic, etc. And the mechanics are pretty short and esy to digest too, the players' section of the rulebook only takes 18 pages, including stuff like inventory tables and examples of play, and the website features a handy one.page rules summary (which also comes with the box set)

It's super easy to get running: character creation takes a couple minutes at most, and it features both a simple adventure and hexcrawl that can be used right out of the box with plenty of interesting directions to expand for further adventures.

Now, Mausritter takes most of its mechanics from Into The Odd, so a lot of its virtues come to it, but I think the few changes it made DO make mausritter most beginner-friendly, such as its inventory system which makes inventory management into a genuine challenge without having it devolve into a slog of tedious book-keeping, and the incorporation of a streamlined version of GloG's magic system, which manages to still be simple and easy without being as loose and freeform as the magic system from a lot of OSR games of similar complexity (which can be initially daunting to new players)

But what REALLY makes mausritter shine IMO is the extremely solid set of GM tools. In just a few pages mausritter manages to provide simple rules, procedures, generators and advice for running faction play, making an engaging hexcrawl, making adventure sites, and generating stuff like treasure hoards, NPCs, an adventure seeds and overal just a ton of useful stuff that takes a huge load off of the shoulders of any beginner GM.

Cairn

Lets say you're into Mausritter mechanically but your players aren't into the whole woodland creature theme and want to play something more traditional. Cairn is also built on Into The Odd's system, and takes inspiration from some of the same sources, so it's very similar mechanically. It does feature some significant differences regarding magic, character advancement, and how injury and healing work, but overall it's still mostly the same system under the hood, so a lot of what I said makes Mausritter a great introduction to the hobby mechanically still applies here (quick and flavorful character creation, dynamic and streamlined but dangerous combat, etc). It's also a classless system that features msotly inventory-defined characters, but aside from the option to randomly roll your gear, the game also offers the option of picking a gear package in case you wanna emulate a particular fantasy archetype.

Now, Cairn is a much more barebones document, and doesn't even feature examples of play or an explicit GM section with resources for running the game, which breaks with the things I said I look for in a beginner RPG. However, in this case I'm willing to forgive this because, first, Cairn's website features a plethora of first party and third party stuff that isn't featured in the book itself, including examples of play, GM procedures and tools, modular rules, and a wealh of conversions of creature stat blocks and adventures from D&D and other fantasy adventure ttrpgs.

And Second, something different that specifically distinguishes Cairn as a good example of a beginner RPG is how it explicitly outlines its philosophical and design principles, and the principles of play for both the GM and the players before it even shows you any rules, which is something that I think more games and ESPECIALLY begginer games should do. IMO the whole book is worth it just for that little section.

Troika!

Troika is a game built on the Fighting Fantasy system (which originally was less of a TTRPG system and more of an engine for a series of choose-your-own-adventure books) with a really interesting pseudo-victorian space opera weird gonzo setting which is a load of fun. It has very simple 2d6 mechanics, with characters having three stats (Stamina, Skill, and Luck), and being mostly defined by their inventory and the special skills from their background. Character creation is quick and snappy. The game gives you 36 weird and extremely creative character backgrounds, but creating a custom background is as easy as coming up with a concept and the names of a couple special skills that support that concept. It also has a very unique initiative system which might be a little divisive but which I DO find fun an interesting.

While it lacks many of the GM tools I praised Mausritter for, it makes up a little bit for it with an initial adventure that does a wonderful job at naturally introducing the weirdness of the setting, and which at the end presents a ton of opportunities to segway into a variety of urban adventures.

Now, a lot of beginners come into RPGs specifically looking for a D&D-type fantasy game (which is a problem because D&D is a pretty bad option for a beginner RPG) so for those types of players I would recommend

The Black Hack

The Black Hack is probably my favorite game for doing D&D-style fantasy roleplaying. It's a game that at its core uses the original 1974 white box edition of D&D for inspiration, but modernizes, reimagines, and streamlines every aspect of it to be one of the most simple yet elegant D&D-like experiences out there. For example, TBH uses the six stat array that all D&D players know and love, and with the same 3-18 point range, but does away with the attribute score / attribute modifier dichotomy, instead building its entire system around the attribute scores, with all rolls in the game being roll-under tests for a relevant attribute (including initiative, attack/defense rolls, and saving throws). It also innovated some extremely elegant mechanics that went on to be very influential for other games, such as its Usage Die mechanic as a way to streamline keeping track of consumable resources. Basically, it's like if D&D actually played the way it looks in cartoons and stuff: character creation doesn't take 3 hours, every combat encounter doesn't take five hours, and you can place some emphasis on resource management without the game making you want to tear your hair out with boring bookkeeping.

And one of the coolest things about it is the way it handles compatibility. Despite taking loose at best mechanical inspiration from D&D and playing very differently from it, TBH is intentionally designed to be compatible with a wealth of old-school D&D material. While it very clearly stands as its own distinct game, it's designed in such a way that you can prety much grab any creature stat block or adventure module written for any pre-3e version of D&D and use it in The Black Hack with little to no effort in conversion required.

The first edition of the game is a pretty barebones 20-page booklet that just describes the basic game mechanics, since it was assumed you'd probably be using D&D creature stat blocks and adventures with it anyway, but the second edition was significantly expanded with a bestiary, expanded GM procedures and advice, and tool for creating anything you could want: Hexcrawls, towns, dungeons, quests, treasure hoards, NPCs, dungeon rooms, traps, secrets doors, etc. plus a short premade adventure and even a few premade unkeyed dungeon maps that you can take and key yourself if you're in a pinch for a map, which as you all know, I think GM tools are an important part of a beginner game.

The game only includes the 4 basic classes from old-school D&D (fighter, thief, cleric, magic user) but the community has made several supplements adding back more modern classes.

Now, if you're that type of player that wants a D&D-like experience and you want an alternative that's still beginner-friendly but doesn't deviate as much from D&D's design, I would suggest:

either Basic Fantasy, or Old-School Essentials (or any good retroclone of Basic D&D tbh)

BF and OSE differ a bit from each other but at their core they're both attempts to repackage a relatively faithful but slightly modernized version of the 1981 Basic/Expert D&D set, retaining mostly the same mechanics while ditching a few of the aspects that might seem counterintuitive to a modern audience (such as descending AC, which I personally don't mind but I udnerstand why a lot of people find it confusing). I'm recommending these bc I think if you're gonna play any actual D&D product, the B/X set represents D&D at its most beginner-friendly (character creation is at its quickest and simplest, combat flows faster and remain itneresting due to doing side initiative rather than individual initative, the mechanics forsurprise, stealth, and dungeon exploration actions such as looking for traps are streamlined to simple D6 rolls) while still being recognizably D&D and these retroclones put in a bit of an extra effort to make them even more accessible to modern audiences.

Now, just like The Black Hack, these retroclones are limited in their race/class choice to the classic old-school D&D human/halfling/elf/dwarf and fighter/cleric/thief/magic user, but in the case of Basic Fantasy, the community has made several race and class supplements, some of which are showcased on the official website, and in the case of OSE, the OSE: Advanced addon reintroduces many of the modern classes and races that were originally introduced in the Advanced D&D line.

Have in mind that this list is pretty limited by my own tastes and experiences. I'm very aware that the very specific type of game I tend to play and like and experiences inroducing some of my friends to the hobby completely color the scope of what I can recommend as a good beginner RPG, and that that scope is significantly limited. I also like more narrative storygame type stuff, and I don't doubt that some of them would also make a fantastic introduction to the hobby (some PbTA stuff like Ironsworn, Dungeon World and Monster of the Week comes to mind) but my experience with them is not significant enough for me to feel confident in telling which of them are good beginner RPGs.

Also note that there are several games that I consider to be more MECHANICALLY beginner-friendly than the ones I listed here, but that I avoided mentioning specifically because they offer extremely little to no support in terms of GM tools, which I think is an important and often overlooked aspect of beginner-friendliness for any game that includes a GM! But they still might be worth checking out. These include games like DURF, FLEE, OZR, A Dungeon Game, Bastards, Dungeon Reavers, Knave 1e, and Tunnel Goons.

"I really don't feel like doing anything today." Your fiancée said while resting her head on your shoulder, visibly tired. You hated seeing her like this, it wasn't your Melissa, and to be completely honest you felt as tired as she was. Social media could be a blessing and a curse at the same time, and in this particular situation, it was a curse. She's been getting a lot of hate these days due to the new movie, and you felt completely useless; you wanted to see her happy and cheerful like she used to be, not like this.

"I know baby, I swear all of this will be over soon..." You kissed the top of her head and intertwined your fingers together. The whole situation made you so fucking sad and angry, and you were getting tired of even opening your socials day after day. It was a habit that slowly you were getting rid of.

You've met Melissa on the set of Scream 5, in which you played the amazing role of Stu Macher's and Tatum Riley's daughter, Hailey Riley. Much like Sam, Hailey have never met her real father, and was put to adoption soon after she was born. Her whole Scream 5 premise was the fact that she found out the truth about her real parents and getting to know her on-screen uncle, Dewey Riley; while in Scream 6 she was trying to come to terms with being the daughter of a serial killer. It was what brought Sam and Hailey together, after all. And in the backstage, it brought Melissa and (Y/N) together, too. She proposed right after a year you guys have been together, and you couldn't be more certain about something in your whole life. She was the one. The love of your life. On and off screen.

You couldn't imagine that Scream 6 would be as successfull as it was being. You guys really didn't had a break. Interviews, press conferences, photoshoots. It was a dream come true to you, to all of you, and you couldn't be more grateful. But it came with a cost, especially for her. It wasn't a problem when it happened to you, it was easy to forget all the hate comments you read about yourself, but to her, it was torture. People talking about her appearance, her acting skills, even her relationship with you. It was too much sometimes, and today was one of those days where she just couldn't deal with this. "We're here, baby."

You guys were in a car getting ready to do some interviews and some press, and Melissa was having none of it. But she just had to put on a smile and pretend that everything was okay, just like you were doing. You had to be strong for her right now, and you were doing absolutely the best you could. She squeezed your hand, visibly anxious, which made you kiss the back of her hand and smile, apologetically. "I'm here for you, mi amor. You know that, right?"

She nodded, smiling lightly. "I know, I'm just tired, that's all." You both got out of the car with your hands intertwined, knowing that there would be a few people outside of the venue waiting for some shots. It got Melissa a little bit stressed out but nothing you both couldn't handle. When you guys got inside with you managers, you found the rest of the cast already there. Jenna, Jazmin, Mason, the whole crew. It made you guys relax a little bit, seeing familiar faces was always a good thing for you guys.

The day went by fast. You guys did some interviews, played a couple of games with the cast, the usual stuff. Melissa got happy for some seconds, it seemed like she forgot about all the stress she's been dealing with, and that made you so fucking relieved. That was until the last interview of the day, you guys were having this one together to talk a little bit more about the Sam/Hailey couple.

"So, (Y/N), I really wanna know how the development between Sam and your character Hailey went through this movie. Because last time, we have only seen Hailey as Sam's friend and now we know something else between them might been coming up. You wanna tell us a little bit more about that?" The interviewer asked, making you smile a little.

"Yeah, yeah. So, in this movie, Sam and Hailey definetly get closer, due to the fact that Sam thinks that Hailey is the only person besides herself that really knows what she's going through, you know?" You explained, without spoiling too much of the movie, even though pretty much everyone knew that your characters were going to be a couple in this movie.

"Good to hear that, (Y/N)! And, Melissa, it's your second time being the face of this new phase of the Scream franchise, and that must definetly be an amazing role to play. How do you deal with the pressure of being the new Sidney Prescott? Even with all the critiques you've been having?." The question itself was a bit too much, but Melissa squeezed your hand, telling you quietly that it was okay.

"Um, I'm not gonna lie, it can be a little bit challenging sometimes, but when I get to see all the love that the fans are giving me, it's definetly all worth it." It wasn't a lie, she had a lot of people online and offline that supported her. It was a tricky question but she answered beautifully.

"I can imagine that, Melissa. You've been getting a ton of negative comments about your performance these days, and I'm curious to know how you deal with that. Does it affect your relationship off-screen with (Y/N)? Do you take these comments to heart?"

That question took Melissa off guard. She stturered, not being able to answer, and that was enough for you. "I think we're done here, right?" You smiled forcibly, getting out of the chair while holding Melissa's hand.

"I believe we still have a couple of questions left, Ms. (Y/L/N)." The interviewer said, in an obvious tone. "Not anymore. Thank you for your time, okay?" That was the last thing you said before you left with her, not even caring about your managers complaints in the back while you both were getting back to the car, which was waiting for you in the parking lot. Melissa was quiet, awfully quiet, and seeing your extroverted girlfriend like this was more painful than you could ever imagine. You opened the car door for both of guys to get in, and when you did, she just hugged you tight. Tighter than she ever did before, like she's been wanting to do that the whole day. "Hey, it's alright. I'm here, it's over, okay?" You kissed the top of her head several times, letting her know she was safe with you.

"That guy was a jerk..." She mumbled, in a sad tone, but she said it in such a cute way that it made you laugh. "Yeah, baby... He was definetly a jerk."

"Thank you for standing up for me... You know you didn't need to do that, right?" You lifted her head by holding her chin, kissing her lips for a while before looking straight at her, right into those brown eyes that you fell in love with. "I didn't need to, really. But I wanted to. I will always, always, want to make sure you're happy all the time, okay?"

johnny soap mactavish comes from a large family of 5 siblings, he's the second oldest. it's elsie, him, blair, callum, and olivia.

growing up in a family of mainly girls got him on that respect women juice. he would always have to make sure his younger siblings are ok and aren't you know, being bullied. his parents were adamant on 2 year age gaps between them all.

his cousin, jack, was an sas operator and that was what made him want to join. they had to call security forces to arrest him out at some point because he kept sneaking in to watch them do stuff lol

elsie left for uni with her bf to live in soho when johnny was 16, the same year he would talk to recruiters around his hometown, driving hours and then getting rejected the same day due to his age

9th grade (year 10) chemistry got him obsessed with stem and its *explosive* results. he aced chemistry and then took advanced chemistry and physics just because he loved it so much

after this, as soon as he turned 18, he went to sign his papers THEN graduated school (he's just like me fr). his mom was so worried for him, especially when her sister told her about the danger that jack would get himself into. in the end, he promised he'll always call her and his siblings

his dad's an ass, hes an alcoholic, a cheater, a *bitch*... he would always take the kids to church on sundays and twisted the religion into a reason for his behavior. claiming that johnny's mom being at home was just "their culture"

she makes a killer shepherd's pie though

always had had some sort of love-hate relationship with the catholic faith. on one hand, it was nice to know there's always at least someone watching out for him, but after hearing the constant belittlement from his father, claiming he wasn't "manly enough" for not willing to give his life up in the service, he started to resent the “all merciful”.

he ended up blaming god for all his faults, letting him take accountability. this especially happened when he got diagnosed with adhd when he was 17, his dad didn’t believe in mental health. his mom was only a bit better about it, they both refused meds for him.

he's bisexual, leans towards women though. found this out after a truth or dare game in junior year (year 12) and some beers in a closet

at one point, callum acccidently let it slip at dinner when johnny had first moved out that he had met a cute guy and their dad screamed and yelled at the whole family, especially their mom, about "raising a fucking whore of a son, dragging the family down to shite"

blair called and told johnny a few days later and johnny rushed his work as quickly as possible and begged his chain of command for a few days off to go back home to his family

his family gets loud…like really loud. there’s 7 people what do you expect?

it gets especially bad when it’s sunday morning and you gotta get 7 people awake and looking their church best for an hour and a half 😔

johnny is the quickest everything there is, which has its downsides too. he could run and swim the fastest in the family, but he was also the quickest eater…meaning he’s on dish washing duty. he’s quick at that too so by the time everyone’s finished, he’s washed all the other dishes that took to make dinner

broke his arm chasing a cat through someone’s yard (he was 14)

had a goat scream and kicked him because he wanted to give it a hug

he got a part time job at a local bakery in 10th grade (year 11). the pay wasn’t much but neither was the work really. olivia, who was 9 at the time, made him promise that he’ll get her a doll to have tea with. her tea set had 4 cups but only one of her, so she must get another one to join her! he kept his promise; he ended up getting three dolls for her

he can make amazing soda bread and brioche loafs now too, still keeps a starter from the owner of the bakery to this day

he had a mountain bicycle that he would take everywhere. had room behind his seat for packages and his backpack, which he would tie down. that thing had such a loud bell too, would ring constantly to “let people know hes coming and get ready”

was terrified of selkies for some reason, always had the window closed and made callum sleep by it while he slept by the door

wasn’t much of a troublemaker, but would get into trouble with his adventurous heart.

got lost in the woods once and after a while of fake courage, he sat down and cried until elsie found him. he was 20 yards (13 meters) away from the clearing 😭😭

johnny is such a fun lover. he’s handsome yeah, but what makes ppl flaunt over him is his humor. he’s what jessica rabbit said “he makes me laugh”

such a charismatic and charming person, gets it from his dad. he could talk about just about anything, also the type to strike up a conversation with a stranger at the grocery store. then end up with their number and a date or helping them dog sit

this isn’t always a good thing though, one time before he was medicated, he would talk on and on, his story becoming incoherent due to the amount of self-interruptions he made, that a group of guys got so annoyed at that pub, they punched him.

he was young, 19, and couldn’t fight, so he didn’t win and came back to the barracks with a nasty black eye

he likes to be the big spoon, has to hold something in order to sleep

feel like he’s the type to wrap his arms around a pillow and lay on his stomach to sleep

speaking of sleeping, he HATES sleeping with socks on. he tried it one day and he just shivered at the feel of it, woke up and his socks were missing (he found them under the bed)

i also feel like he sleeps like a log, unmoving once he finds his comfort, i also think it's because he had to sleep in the same bed as his siblings at one point and he didn't want to wake them by moving, so he got accustomed to being a still sleeper

one time he accidentally got into a fight at a bar when a guy kept being misogynistic and was arrested and kept in jail for the whole night until one of his civilian friends bailed him out

johnny's the type to race you in the rain to the car. again, he's quick so he's always ahead of you but then he slips from the rain and ends up all wet and muddy and in the car.

his favorite thing to do is hear you laugh. he'll do anything to hear you laugh.

whenever you're sad, he'll purposely stub his toe or trip down the stairs or make you kiss his "owie" (a papercut) to get you to cheer up. like yeah it hurts like a fucking bitch but seeing you sad hurts more than a silly tumble

number one date event is city exploring and hopping. like cafe hopping, pub hopping, museum hopping, restaurant hopping, anything that makes you get up and get going with time to sit and chill at the same time.

feels like he can eat a lot, he's the type to eat your food if you end up not liking it or being too full

when he gets home from missions and the initial excitement of seeing you dies down, he also dies down and nap for hours until it's the middle of the night and he gets up to eat something.

he loves naps. feels like he needs a nap time every day if it was possible

he's a very kind lover, he's easy going so its not hard that sometimes people take advantage of this and push his buttons until he can't take it anymore

causes a huge blowup because he can have a nasty temper whenever he bottles stuff up and pushes things aside

not a physical manifestation of anger, but definitely a verbal anger, will say things he doesn't really mean just to say it and realize right after the words leave his lips that he fucked up

but he'll stake out in front of the guest bedroom in which you've locked yourself in until you come out and he gets the chance to forgive you

the type to stand in the rain and hold a sign saying sorry right outside your window, a very cheesy romcom style (gaz made him watch them)

he loves you more than anything and loves you even more than you can keep up with him and laugh at his jokes, no matter how awful they are

What does Roche's fate mean for the lore?

*spoilers for FF7 Rebirth*

So yeah Roche becomes a Sephiroth Clone. Gets the black cloak and all that.

But... how?

We see 'SC4' for the tattoo and Hojo experiment on him, so that means that he was given S Cells and became a Sephiroth Clone right?

But that's not quite how it works.

Remember Zack was supposed to be a Sephiroth Clone too. But due to being a SOLDIER he wasn't affected by the S Cells and was deemed a failure.

The procedure to become a SOLDIER is said to be more or less the same than the procedure to make a Sephiroth Clone, according to Cloud in FF7 after he remembers his real memories. But yeah SOLDIERS get injected and exposed with mako and Jenova Cells and then the strong become SOLDIERS.

I don't know if it's J Cells or S Cells specifically that gets used in the SOLDIER procedure, but I found this in the wiki and it implies it being S Cells.

*In Junon during Final Fantasy VII the player can talk to an old man in the top floor of a shop who remarks he used to be in SOLDIER. It is unknown what rank or member he was, but later in the game he starts to wear a cape, similar to Sephiroth-clones, stating that he got a sudden urge to dress that way. This hints at SOLDIER members being given Jenova cells as well as mako infusion. In Final Fantasy VII Remake, the kids in the Sector 5 slums mention that the ill robed man that has wandered there used to be a SOLDIER.* -SOLDIER FF7 Wiki.

So I guess if given enough time, SOLDERS become Sephiroth clones, with those with a weaker aptitude for mako and/or Jenova being the first to lose themselves. This being a typical SOLDIER'S type of degradation.

(Angeal and Genesis's degradation is different due to them having G Cells)

But despite Zack being experimented on and probably given a lot of S Cells, he didn't turn into a Sephiroth clone and was unaffected. Hojo himself on the reports says it's due to him being a SOLDIER.

So how I interpret it is that Zack's body has already adapted to the S Cells he already had. Jenova is adaptive and can mutate like that. So when he got more S Cells, the news ones just adapted and copied what the S Cells in his body was already doing instead of what it's supposed to do in a subject that doesn't have pre-existing Cells in them, like the survivors of Nibelheim or Cloud.

Basically the added S Cells are reprogrammed to be like SOLDIER variation and not the puppet Sephiroth Clone variation.

Maybe if Zack lived longer he would of would slowly degradated, but I assume it would of taken years for that to happen.

So how did Roche degrade so quickly and become a Sephiroth Clone?

Well... what did Hojo recently learn?

That Sephiroth Clones and the cells can fuse to create better monsters. And that Cloud is subconsciously heeding the call of Reunion.

What if Hojo is fusing samples together to see if they become more effective?

Roche does have 'SC' on his arm. So S is for Sephiroth and C is for Cloud, that's what I think anyways. (Also if Hojo had some Sephiroth samples he had left in the Manor, then he definitely has some in Midgar. He also probably has samples of Cloud despite him being a failure. It would be bad science to discard it even if it failed.)

And somehow the fusion of both, was able to create a type of Cell that can now degrade SOLDIERS in a manner of days or hours.

(I guess this also ties in that plot line from Crisis Core about Zack's S Cells are worthless, but Cloud's aren't and Genesis needed those Cells to try and fix himself. Remember 'No way he just ate my hair'? Now I'm curious if Cloud's Cells would of actually cured Genesis, or would he of become a Sephiroth Clone? Hmm...)

But yeah...

[Noting based on my recent post, this is my ranking for if you're pursuing a male LI. WLW rankings would be very different].

So, to me, I think there are two main criteria that define a season: Love Interests and Gameplay.

Love Interests can be further broken down into:

Sprite Design: How good they look overall as a cast. Are they proportionate? Unique?

Variety: How different/unique are they to previous seasons? Are they all models and carpenters and finance bros?

Fandom Impact: This one is silly and subjective. Are people still talking about them years later? Do they have fanfics and art? If you don't know this person, are you missing out?

Gameplay can be further broken down into:

Quality of Plot Drama: How it's written, how impactful it is. Is it stupid manufactured shit, or is it important and moves the game along? (Cherrygate? Great drama. Suresh wanting to 'give Lulu a chance' after he'd been all in for us? Shitty, awful drama).

Challenges: Are they engaging and interesting? Do they move the plot along?

Replayability: Are there enough unique aspects in the routes that you feel the need to replay?

So, based on these two criteria, I assigned rankings to each season, with Season 2 being the best that fusebox can possibly do. (We already know that it is).

These are completely subjective, but this is what I came up with.

Some brief explanations:

Season 1:

Not the best art style, but overall the proportions were spot on, the body shapes and types were different and unique. Personalities top tier (Tim? Jake? sigh.) Cherrygate, dunking challenge etc.

Season 2:

The best the fandom can do in terms of consistent art style, poses, challenges and replayability. Every route is unique. Characters are overhwhelmingly gorgeous. Some may not like the drama, but I think it's just enough.

Season 3:

I thought things were ranked too high but then remember Tai? Rafi? AJ? The waterfall date, the water balloon and tent challenges that meant something and caused drama?

Season 4:

Lost points for the NaJamUno character merge, but gained points for Youcef and Oliver. Great characters, poor challenges and drama points. Dylangate was dumb and so was making us sleep on the daybeds.

Season 5:

The less said the better. But the sprites were hot af.

Season 6:

The great character merge was atrocious. But the drama from Casa, the Marshall&Ozzy plotline, and HAMISH oh my god, he gets a bonus point for drama all on his own.

Season 7:

Personally very forgettable season. Some of the sprites were lovely. Evan was a highlight and he's gorgeous. But given how quickly everyone forgot about this season, it's loowww.

Season 8:

Gets a high ranking for fandom impact purely based on the immense amount of art and interest that's come about this season. Even with up to a half-point deduction to account for recency bias, this season ranks highly.

This gives us an updated ranking of:

Third? THIRD? Season 8 is THIRD?!?!?

This gives us an average season rating of 6.4. We could remove the outliers, but we're trying to plot how good each season is against the average, so let's not. If we then plotted this and threw in a bar to show the average:

It says the only seasons that are 'above average' are Seasons 1, 2, and 8. Which, honestly, given my adoration for Bruno, Ciaran, and Lewie, rude. How dare I hurt myself with my own chart!!!!!

I'm sure one of the maths people could do something statistically significant and make this fully mathematically valid, but this is just me latching on to a silly ask and being an idiot about it.

I like S8 a lot. It's worth playing.

You are now sitting on your futon watching Bachira, Isagi and Igarashi play a game about guessing what each face means, watching in even more amusement as Iemon scolds them for not being serious enough. Suddenly Raichi goes to where Kuon is, attacking him before Isagi stops him.

"You idiot! I'm not playing! Even if Team Z loses I'll still advance as the top scorer. Doing nothing at all is in my best interest!" Kuon says, making Raichi even more mad

"Then, if I score three more goals to the one I have, I'll become the scoring king with four goals. That makes you still want to do nothing?" Asks him Kunigami

"Ha! That's impossible, there's n-"

"I also can try to do that, whoever scores the first gets to do that, deal?" You interrupt, asking Kunigami who nods at your idea

"That's fair"

"Just go ahead and try, you will just get in the way of each other" Kuon scoffs

"Nah, if Kunigami scores first, I'll help him so he can keep scoring, same if I score first, hell, even Isagi is fine…no offense, Isagi" you say

"None taken"

"At the end of the final match" Bachira starts "if, say, Isagi and Kuon both had three goals…then who would move on to the next round?"

"Probably the one that had fewer yellow cards, right?" Answers Chigiri

"What if all of it is the same?"

"Then whoever has the higher ranking would move on" answers Ego from the screen "Hello everyone, Jinpachi Ego here"

"Not you again" you mumble, slightly annoyed, making Chigiri chuckle

"You really don't like him, huh?"

"He's…he talks too much" you answer, if only he knew how long you've known him he would understand.

"I won't deny that"

"Right now I'll announce the second ranking of the first selection round!" He says, showing the rankings from 265 to 275:

Kuon - Chigiri - Yn - Isagi - Kunigami - Gagamaru - Bachira - Iemon - Raichi - Nahruhaya - Igarashi

"Ha! I'm at the top!" Kuon says, a bunch of complaints arising

"As a striker you're the lowest of the low" Ego explains "actually, all of you are basically garbage"

"Tsk, how dare him" you hear Chigiri say annoyed

"What the world's best striker needs is" Ego continues "A goal that can be duplicated! You need a formula that will reliably produce goals!"

He keeps talking, you slowly start to get bored, so you unconsciously start leaning on Chigiri's back. He gets surprised at first, but doesn't say anything as you keep laying your head there.

"The only one that seems to have some consistency in this team is Yn, he's the one that has shown some consistency in the way on how he plays, but there's still a lot of work to do" Ego finishes his speech "those who can't find a formula can piss off"

Raichi goes to say something to Kuon as you stop leaning on Chigiri's back, receiving a smug yet playful look from him

"I'm a position higher than you" he smirks at you

"Shut up, it was just because of that goal"

"Well, yeah, that's how it works"

"I'll make sure to pass you again" you say as Bachira jumps in your back, almost making you fall if it wasn't for Chigiri's support

"Yn! You got praised!" He says. How could you even stand properly with Bachira on top of you was a mystery even for you

"That bastard never praised anyone and when he does is half assed" you scoff as Bachira laughs

"One day he's gonna hear you and you'll be in trouble" Chigiri chuckles

"As if he doesn't talk about us behind our backs too, he ain't doing nothing to me" at that moment Isagi leaves the dorm running

"Eh? Where's he going?" Bachira asks

"Just let him be, he's probably trying to find some formula"

"Most likely. What about you? Do you have a formula?" Asks you Chigiri

"I don't play with those complicated stuff, I know my strong points already"

"Confidence! That's good Yn!" Bachira adds as he keeps clinging onto you. What was the point of thinking too much about it anyway? There's no physical way you could even become the best striker in the world even if you wanted to.

You are now reviewing the match between Team W and Team Y, the meeting being led by Iemon as he informs you that you were in third place, which means that you have to win no matter what against Team V, against Nagi and Reo.

"...Team V key players are these 3; with five goals, Zantetsu Tsurugi; with six goals, Reo Mikage; and the team top scorer, with seven goals, Nagi Seishiro. If we don't stop them, we have no hope of winning"

"Nagi is kinda cute" you whisper to yourself while looking at the screen

"Eh?" Chigiri asks you

"Eh? I said Nagi must be really good" you say looking at the screen, thank god he didn't actually heard you

"He has to, seven goals is mad crazy" Chigiri says "but we have an amazing player ourselves" he pats your hair

"Stop doing that" you say, trying hard not to blush

"Nah, your hair is fluffy" he smirks as he does it again

"We have had the luck and enough skills to survive, we can do this" Kunigami says as you start to come out of the multimedia room towards the dorm.

Everyone seem to be acting pretty normal despite the circumstances, you thought that by now everyone will start to freak out, after all you were playing against the team that has never lost, a team where the strongest player has made 7 goals without tricky moves like Kuon, who only had 3 goals and was the highest one in our team. Everything just seemed…normal.

You all start opening your futons when everyone becomes quiet, an unusual thing in this team.

"Hey Yn" Chigiri calls you, everyone eyes suddenly on you "aren't you nervous?"

"Ehh" you say to think, what could you possibly say to make them calm down? "Not really, but I get why everyone can be"

"How aren't you nervous? Are you a robot or something?"

"Because tomorrow I'll do everything I can to not lose; of course I want us to win, but if we don't, at least I would be able to leave without regrets"

"Eh? What are you talking about, loser? We will win" Raichi says, turning around to sleep

"I get being nervous" you say to Chigiri, laying down on your futon "But we can't do anything about it now, we practiced as hard as we could, we got as good as we can be for now, and we have a strategy, we just need to do what we have been doing this whole time"

"You're right" Chigiri stretches his hand to pat your head, but you can still feel his hand shaking slightly as he stands up "I'm going to do some self care in my leg, night"

Someone turns off the light, you lay there in an eerie silence. You were a bit nervous, you wanted to win after all, but you also had to make sure they aren't as nervous so they could play at the best of their abilities tomorrow. You heard someone coming into the room, but fell asleep shortly after that.

The last match was already here, you were playing as a center forward, since you were one of the ones that had most possibilities for a goal along with Chigiri, Kunigami and Gagamaru.

"We’ll go with these four, who’ve already gotten us one goal each with their skills" Iemon explains in the lockers "Team V’s offensive power is no small matter! We’ll keep our defense tight on them and keep blocking the enemy’s attacks! Then these four on the front line will make a speedy counterattack to score! Ideally, we’ll be able to win 1-0! Without Kuon, this is the only realistic chance that we have!"

After Raichi warned Kuon again and everyone hyped themselves up as you walked towards the field.

"Hey" Chigiri calls you extending his arm so you can cross it with yours "Let's do everything we can to win"

"Let's" you cross it "Don't chicken out today"

"Ha! Never again"

You walk into the field, Team V already there waiting for you. A small smirk appears on Reo's face once he crosses eyes with you, cockyness written on his face.

Team V is the one who starts the kick off, Nagi passes it to Reo, Bachira and Isagi guards him, making him pass to Zantetsu. So far is like every play you have watched, things are going according to plan. Zantetsu also gets blocked by the team, so he passes to Nagi, however Igaguri is able to intercept the pass and passes it to Isagi, who sends it towards Bachira and ultimately passes it to Gagamaru. Sadly it was very messy, so Gagamaru had to dive in to hit it, missing the goal just slightly.

"Close" you say as you help him stand up

"I'll get it next time"

"Holy crap, that was cool!" You hear Reo "Hey Nagi, let's try that!"

The moment Reo kicks off the ball again, he sends a long, fast pass at top spin, a pass that wouldn't work with anyone except for him. Nagi easily jumps and traps the ball, stopping all the spin and kicking it, making a goal in seconds.

The team is amazed, but you were kind of expecting this, Ego had given you some details of the players at the beginning of the project, even then Nagi was a prodigy.

"Don't start panicking now, we knew this already" you say to the ones around you

"We have to do this" adds Raichi

Now you have the kick off, so Isagi gives it to Kunigami, who runs trying to find his perfect range to score. However, Reo is able to steal it from him and sends it to Nagi, who does a bicycle kick and makes another goal without anyone being able to stop him. Both Kunigami and Raichi start fighting about what they could have done to stop it before you punch them both in the face.

"Stop fighting idiots!" You say, receiving annoyed looks by both of them

"Yeah, we still have a few more weapons" adds Isagi

The match restarted, Isagi passing it to Chigiri, however Zantetsu it's not only able to arrive at the ball first, but also go back in time to score another goal for Team V.

After Team V made another goal your eye starts to twitch, annoyed by the situation; not only you had a 4 point difference, but also it was clear that your team already lost hope of winning, so you go to where Isagi is standing when Nagi passes beside you

"You did that in your last match" he says boredly

"I did"

"Then why aren't you doing it again? You lost already" Nagi adds, his voice doesn't have a hint of malice on it, he clearly wasn't saying it to be mean, but it still annoyed you

"There's still time left, don't let your guard down" you left, arriving next to Isagi and Bachira, who were talking "Give me the next one"

"Eh?" Isagi looks at you incredulous

"Are you also on fire, Yn-chan?" Bachira asks, looking at you with the same desire to win that you had, he was the only one who had hope left "I'll give it to you, but then it's my turn, okay?"

"I got you" you fist bump him, going back to your position

You do some light stretches and focus on evening out your breath. Once you open your eyes even you feel yourself more focused.

The guys start the match again, Bachira wasting no time in sending it to you with that smile of his. You take the ball easily and start running towards the goal, already set on doing a solo run for it.

With a flick of your heel, you nutmegged the first defender, leaving him flabbergasted. Then you sprinted past the second defender with a series of lightning-quick step-overs, as a third defender lunged, but a deft feint sent him sprawling. You saw Reo trying to intercept you, but in a state of full concentration, you easily and quickly changed direction.

As you approached the opponent's penalty box, it was just you against the goalkeeper. With a burst of speed, you sent the goalkeeper the wrong way with an elastico move only to flick the ball into the air and do a volley, sending the ball into the top corner of the net.

Once you make the goal you feel a mix of emotions in the air, some kind of hope from your team and confusion from the opponents. You walk back towards your side, Reo looking at you impressed

"How are you in Team Z?" He asks you

"I don't make the rules" you shrugged

"That was cool, though, you are definitely not boring" he chuckles, you continue going to your team

"That was awesome Yn-chan!" Bachira high fives you alongside Isagi, everyone in your team was kind of amazed by the goal that just had happened.

"Thanks, now it's your turn, show them what you got, Bachira"

Suddenly you feel a hand on your head, ruffling your hair with a light laugh from Kunigami, and an arm wrapping around your shoulders

"I knew you would go berserk again, your eyes were scary" Chigiri says to you with a smile on his face

"Ynnn! That was amazing!!!" Igaguri screams, as Gagamaru high fives you too

"Well done…i guess" Raichi says

"I don't understand how can you play like nothing in a moment like this"

"Do you still want to be the best striker in the world?" You ask instead

"Eh? Well, yeah"

"Well, to do that we need to beat Team V first, otherwise you're not worthy of having that title" you say, Chigiri looking at you like a switch turn on

"Ha! Well, that's true"

The other team kicks the ball to resume the game. As Reo dribbled closer, you anticipated the moment and positioned yourself to intercept the pass towards Nagi. With quick reflexes, you extended your leg, making a perfectly timed interception that sent the ball towards Bachira looks at you slightly annoyed, but it doesn't matter because Bachira quickly starts his counterattack.

He starts running towards the goal as well, his eyes shining with excitement as he encounters Reo, starting to dribble his way past him before Zantetsu appears in front of him. With that he does an outside trap leading to a mid-air elastico, passing him and leaving only three defenders left. All of them start attacking Bachira under Reo's guidance, but Bachira is able to easily pass them leaving him in front of the goalie. Since the goalie was expecting Bachira to go full onwards, he came forwards, making Bachira kick the ball with his leg crossing behind the standing one. Team Z is closing the gap 2 - 4.

Everyone runs towards Bachira too, as you finally are closing the gap faster than anyone could imagine.

"In a situation where nothing is working, all you can do is find a new formula, we just need to try new versions of ourselves" says Kunigami to the team

"We can't win if we don't figure out how to evolve ourselves, can't we?" You add

After resuming again the game, Raichi gets told to guard Reo from passing freely to Nagi, and although he didn't want to do it, he was probably the one with the right physique to stop him. Since Reo didn't have a proper open space, he's forced to pass it to Zantetsu, who enters into a battle with Chigiri for speed. Zantetsu tries to pass it to Nagi, who you and Igaguri were guarding, but Chigiri is able to touch the pass, deviating the ball a little; but of course, it was enough for Nagi to trap it and prepare to shoot. You pushed Igaguri in the direction the ball was going to go, helping him stop the ball as it hit his face. This startled Nagi, giving you enough time to grab the ball and start the counterattack alongside Bachira.

"Do you think you two can do those moves again?" Asks Reo, putting himself in front of us

"I can" you say

"I don't think so…but this time it's different, us two aren't the only ones fighting anymore"

With that you two do a zig zag to pass Reo, Bachira sending it to Kunigami. He was still far away from his ideal range, however he shot anyway with a no spin ball, marking the third goal for Team Z, leaving you 3 - 4 and sending us to the end of the first half.

You're now in the lockers while the half time passes, Kunigami explaining how his new goal happened. A bottle of energy drink appears in front of you, Chigiri sitting beside you while you take it

"I told you already, but you were awesome" he says as he drinks too "You were the one that helped us wake up and realize we still have a chance"

"Thanks, but where is this coming from?"

"Just making sure you know, once you made that goal everyone was shocked so we didn't celebrate as much as we did with Bachira or Kunigami"

"It's fine, I don't need that" you keep drinking, passing the towel around your neck to get rid of the sweat.

"I know" he says "But also, it's to prevent you from going too berserk again, so don't overexert yourself" he pats your head

"...TEAM Z IS GONNA WIN THIS!"

The match resumes, Team V guarding Kunigami a bit closer than before due to his last minute goal. Since he couldn't shoot, he decided to pass it to Bachira, who instantly passed it to Gagamaru. Since Gagamaru had run too far from the ball, he did something that only he could do, a scorpion kick, and he could have made it in if it wasn't for Zantetsu, who blocked the ball from entering.

The game continues, you keep guarding Nagi as the other team had the ball in their possession, since Zantetsu couldn't do anything in his end, he ends up sending it back to Reo, but he's heavily guarded by Raichi, who hasn't let him do anything. You're not sure what happens in between, but it ends up with Reo elbowing Raichi in the face, gaining a yellow card.

As this goes on, you go to Chigiri quickly

"Oi" you called him "That Zantetsu guy is only faster than you in the beginning of the run"

"Eh?" He says confused

"You can win against him, just not like this, think" you say leaving again. You technically shouldn't have, but nothing's gonna happen if you push them a little to the answer.

Raichi starts the game again quickly, sending it to Chigiri just like you thought. You can see him trying to figure it out until something clicked, sending the ball into a longer trajectory and reaching it faster than him, making your fourth goal and finally being leveled once again.

You go to high five Chigiri as soon as he makes the goal, him passing his arm through your shoulder while ruffling your hair

"Thanks for that"

"You made the goal, well done"

The match restarted, however Reo didn't have any options to pass it since Raichi was guarding him, when suddenly out of nowhere Nagi started to move forwards, initiating a move himself for the first time as he ran towards the goal again. You tried to stop him as fast as you could, but since he took you by surprise by his sudden movements and you had a whopping 30 cm of height difference between you two, it was impossible for you to reach him before he passed it to Zantetsu. Zantetsu pretends to kick it, luring Chigiri in before actually kicking it almost by the end of the goal post; but this is Nagi Seishiro you're playing against, so he traps it, lifting it just enough to through it in the air, turn around and hit it, making a goal by the other side of the net.

It was always a possibility, if your own team was waking up to reach a new potential, then it could also happen to Team V. In particular that was the case with Nagi, after all, maybe he thought that soccer was a pain because there was no one before that was strong enough for him to actually try, and now that your team was in control of the game, he probably also had his own awakening.

"Gotta say, that was awesome" you say to him as he passes beside you

"Thanks, soccer ended up being pretty interesting"

You reunited with your team once again, Chigiri and Kunigami talking about switching things to defense, a comment that made you raise your eyebrow in confusion. You prepare yourself to say something, but apparently, you weren't the only one thinking of doing that.

"ARE YOU STUPID! WE NEED TO ATTACK!! ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK!" Raichi screams "OUR ATTACKS ARE WORKING!! WE MANAGED TO SCORE FOUR POINTS ON TEAM V BECAUSE I'VE BEEN PLAYING DEFENSE, WHICH I HATE!! I'LL KILL YOU IF ALL MY HARD WORK IS FOR NOTHING!!! ATTACK UNTIL YOU DIE!! GIVE 'EM ALL YOU'VE GOT, DUMBASS!!! YOU'RE STRIKERS, RIGHT?!!!?"

You chuckle, you probably would have said something similar, less aggressive for sure, but the message would have been the same; though considering the situation this approach was probably the best, since the match ends in 13 minutes.

Isagi sends the ball to Bachira, he manages to move a little, however, ends up passing it to Chigiri, who plans to reuse the same move from before. But this time, Nagi appears in front to steal the ball. You move towards it to intercept, but from the corner of your eye you can see Isagi running towards it, his aura completely different from before, probably finally starting to understand his metavision. You want to intercept it yourself, you want to play and do as much as you can to win, but you knew that you had to hold back if it meant that these boys started to shine, so you slowed down to let Isagi take it and start running towards the goal just in case.

Isagi reaches it just on time and passes it to Chigiri again, who shoots it just slightly too hard, hitting the pole; Gagamaru is right on that side, so he shoots it too, but Reo is able to block him. The ball was coming right where you were, slightly too far back, and since everyone was still on the floor from previous moves, you needed to kick it fast; you waited just enough to time it properly, jumping and doing a Side Volley Bicycle Kick, with enough force to pass over everyone and making a goal. You're tied once again.

"Nice cover" Gagamaru says as the team runs to you, Raichi screaming excitedly, Bachira shaking you by the shoulders, the rest congratulating you one way or another

"I'm going to run out of things to say to you for these goals" Chigiri high fives you "Nice one"

The last minutes of the game are obvious, everyone slightly more on edge the closer to zero they get. Zantetsu sends a long pass towards Nagi, you and Isagi following close behind. But sadly, you knew that you wouldn't be able to reach him; not only you barely reach his shoulders, meaning that his legs were longer and therefore cover a lot more ground that you quickly, but also the pain in your chest started to appear, making it much harder to breath. Luckily, since you been training a lot more, the pain has prolonged it's time, now appearing on the last minutes of the match.

You both get into a good position to reduce his movements, but Nagi traps it with his back and avoids both of you, going straight to Iemon. He was about to shoot, he could probably score a goal easily and make his team win…if Kuon hasn't tackle him right on that moment. With one minute left, Kuon gains a red card and hope for Team Z.

"Kuon, you'd have advance if you hadn't done anything, so what was the idea?" Kunigami asks, everyone gathering around

"... it's just…. something I did for myself"

"Wait, hold up, you and Yn both have three goals, and thanks to that red card now Yn is in front of you now"

"If we tie or lose that means you won't pass" you add

"You guys, of course I knew that, so you better win…cause I'm gonna be the world best striker" Kuon says

"Give me a break, of course Team Z is gonna win. Theres no way we'll let this end here" adds Isagi

2 more minutes were given because of overtime. You had to make one more goal to win in 3 minutes.

You're preparing for the penal kick by Reo, waiting behind as you let Iemon deal with the situation. Reo shoots the ball with a slight curve, but Iemon is able to see through it and hit it away for a rebound, which Zantetsu ends up getting and almost making a goal if it wasn't for Raichi that blocked it. Unluckyly for you, the ball ends up in Nagi's, who justs tips it over the three blockers making the ball go to the goal. Nobody is able to reach it in time except for Gagamaru and his insane athleticism, that barely saves it by hitting the top pole, landing on Isagi's feet as you, Chigiri, Kunigami and Bachira start running to counterattack.

Isagi first passes it to Bachira, who dribbles his way through the opponents before passing it to you. You had two players in front of you, so you did a Rainbow flick, lifting the ball over their heads while using the soles of your feet before passing it to Chigiri; he's able to pass a few more players, but gets used as a decoy by Isagi as he passes to him. Isagi sends it to Kunigami, but the ball is hit by Zantetsu who barely manages to touch it, sending it outside of everyone's range, however, Raichi is able to save it miraculously, sending it to Bachira.

You once again start running towards the goal along with Chigiri, Kunigami and Isagi, Bachira ultimately choosing Isagi as he was in the freest position posible.

But Nagi was running right behind him.

Chigiri and Kunigami screams at Isagi for him to pass the ball to one of them, but there wasn't enough time for that, besides the obvious fact that Isagi had to rebuilt himself as well

"ISAGI!" you scream "YOU'RE NOT NAGI"

You don't know if he heard you, and if he did, you don't know if he had enough time to process it properly to realize, but the result you wanted was there. Instead of trapping the ball, Isagi was about to shoot it right away. Making the winning goal at the last second. You all run towards him to celebrate, Bachira was on Isagi's back happy, Kunigami was ruffling his head, and Chigiri had his arm around your shoulders as you both laugh at the scene.

Team Z had won.

You officially passed to the second selection.

Zutara, forever and ever. Usa/Mamo (now that I've seen the original Japanese version), Inu/Kag

9. Is there any couple, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

Zutara. They are my only OTP that isn't canon, but they should have been. Hayley and Andy from Modern Family is next. I'm honestly not happy at how they handled Hayley's arc in general. The writers were so cruel to her! I'm still not over it, and I'm mulling over a fix-it fic for her (one-shot probably). Ichabbie (Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills) are in third place, but a very distant third. I lost all respect for Sleepy Hollow after how they treated both Abbie the character and Nichole Beharie the actress.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

...no. Not really. I mean, I guess you could count CaptainSwan from OUAT, but that's less I didn't like the ship and more I wanted to get rid of Emma so EYE could have Hook.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now would be canceled over?

I mean...probably? I can't think of any right now. I only have a handful of ships that I care enough about to talk about, and most of them don't appear on my blog, so...🤷🏾‍♀️

12. What was your favorite crack ship?

Mai/Aang (or Flying Dagger as I call them). I don't even really consider this a crack ship. Don't get me wrong, I see them being a disaster together, but not in a cracky sort of way. More of a reality show couple way.

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?

Zutara these days. It used to be more of an even split between my top 3 ships, but the fact that I get around to reading anything these days feels like an accomplishment.

14. What do most of your ships usually have in common?

Powerful women and the powerful men who would die protecting them. Also, powerful women and the powerful men who are their biggest cheerleaders

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

I mean...pick a trait from Kataang, and that's pretty much it. Hero gets the girl because he's the hero; the woman becomes the supportive background partner no matter how powerful and ambitious she was before she got with him; Man can't control his violent outburst without his partner's help. Kataang is the embodiment of everything I hate in a ship.

Hello.....How are you? Thanks so much for sharing your analysis in your blog. I'm new to BL. I felt really helped in finding your blog. I lived in a country where LGBTQ+ is considered taboo and my own family saw it as something sinful. Until I found mlm fanfics (I know it's a ridicilous reason for why now I'm interested in BL & GL media).

Because this is a similar ask to one I recently got I am going to direct you to that for my explanations on 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us (available on Gagaoolala), I Told Sunset About You and I Promise You The Moon (available on Viki), and Moonlight Chicken (available on YouTube) and add three other shows: What Did You Eat Yesterday?, You’re My Sky, and Gameboys.

If you stick around in this fandom long enough you will start to see that Bad Buddy (available on YouTube) is one of most beloved shows on tumblr. I love love love that show, but it is not in my favorites the way these other shows are. However, I would HIGHLY recommend you watch it if you haven’t already. It is incredible, and a very important piece of BL history both for the level of popularity it gained and the way it subverted BL as a genre. 

That said, let’s get in to my favorite BLs and why I love them, again in alphabetical order: 

Gameboys

Contains Themes of: Quarantine, COVID, death, queer character being outed against their will

I literally just finished the first season of this show today, but have to thank @bengiyo for telling me this is what I should watch next because I absolutely loved it. It is the story of two boys, stuck in quarantine in the Phillipines during the COVID pandemic that meet over an online game and fall in love. I agree with Ben that this is an incredibly well handled pandemic story, the actors are fantastic, their chemistry is believable and natural, and I appreciate that they let these boys be horny for each other. I loved watching the highs and lows of their blossoming relationship and I am so looking forward to watching Season 2 when they are together in person and seeing if and how that changes their dynamic. 

He’s Coming to Me

Contains Themes of: death of a teenager (related to heart problems), murder

I talked about this show in one of my tag games as my pick for most underrated series in Thai QL. Which I stand by because this show did not have the distribution it should have due to fan interference because they were upset about Singto being moved from a match up with Krist to instead star opposite Ohm. 

This is a show that I have labeled as By, For, and About Queer people. This is an Aof Noppharnach piece that is just absolutely beautiful in the way it explores the growing realization about your own queerness as Ohm’s character (Thun) starts to develop feelings for Singto’s character (Med). I love the additional layer to this show that comes with Med being a ghost who can only be seen by Thun, and how we don’t just get an explicitly queer character in an explicitly queer relationship, but that we also get a metaphor for queerness in the fact that Thun has to keep himself and his abilities private. When he hangs out with Med in public, no one can see him, and Thun often ends up talking to air, which results in people constantly staring at him in confusion, concern, or disgust. This show will remind you that Ohm has always been The Actor of All Time, the way his voice creaks in this show still haunts me to this day. I liked the mystery element in this show, I loved the rooftop confessions and the coming out scene. I loved all the ways this show was just so so so queer. Now that it has been released to the general public, I think every person who watches Thai BL should watch this show. 

La Pluie 

(Thai BL- Available on IQIYI) 

Contains Themes of: lying to a romantic partner

God this show is an incredible, brilliant, perfectly executed subversion of the soulmates trope. A theme I am generally sensing in the content I am sharing is that queer characters are allowed to be flawed human beings. Tai needs to learn how to use his words, Patts is perfect but does have a temper that he is managing extremely well, Tien is perfect but does constantly undermine and underplay his own emotions to support the other people in his life, Lomfon is rude. This show has a lot of very smart things to say, and allows its characters to both experience desire, and sexual frustration, it uses giving sexual pleasure as a way for a character to maintain control over new forms of intimacy. Myself and my fellow clowns on this website (especially @bengiyo and @lurkingshan) have fought for this show tooth and nail for weeks upon weeks to make sure that as many people as possible were watching this absolutely beautiful show. 

Our Dining Table

Contains Themes of: death, child neglect, grief

This is a very short, very sweet, wonderful spot of comfort and warmth. Its main themes are found family and navigating grief. It has the cutest little boy in the world who is just a bouncing ball of sunshine, and he and this show won my entire heart. I love this show for what it says about family, about care and love, sacrifice and healing. Even for the parts of the show that center around pain, this show is just so full of joy. I loved watching Yutaka open up, loved watching Minoru have a chance to relax, I loved Ueda-san getting to watch his son fall in love to become happier by way of existing around his sons’ happiness. I love that Minoru is very much an older brother to Tane, not a parent, despite how much care he gives him, and I love that Yutaka and Tane are genuinely friends. 

The Eclipse

Contains Themes of: threats against protestors (including cars rolling in to crowds), suicide, grief, internalized homophobia, homophobia, authoritarianism, emotional manipulation, thoughts of suicide, queer character being outed against their will

This is absolutely one of my favorite BLs, beyond the fact that the acting is incredible, the characters are allowed to be very flawed, very complex, and very morally gray the story itself is incredibly layered and is a huge social commentary on rebelling against authoritarianism, the ways in which identities and oppression are leveraged against marginalized people to get them to commit heinous acts against the people they should be standing with and not against. This show touches on so many different things: justice, hypocrisy, manipulation, love, fear, internalized homophobia, rebellion, activism. This show gave me both my favorite war criminal and his rat bastard boyfriend. It has some of my favorite kisses and favorite crying scenes. And it introduced me to the powerhouse duo of First and Khaotung. 

What Did You Eat Yesterday?

(I am honestly not sure where you can find this easily, outside of @kinounaniresource. there is one season, a special, and a movie. There is a Season 2 on the way, and I am also not sure when it is going to be released or if it is going to be released on any particular platform)

I am honestly not sure if this technically qualifies as a BL, but it is certainly a show that centers around an already established, older gay couple. This is a story about a couple staying together, and there is an undercurrent of long carried pain that is tucked so neatly between the layers of cooking, and eating, and love for one another. I do not really know how to explain this show beyond it just being one of the best things out there. We are so so lacking in elder queer content, honestly this is the only show I have seen out of 60+ QLs I have watched in the last year that has a main queer couple over the age of probably 25. I love the dynamic between Shiro and Kenji so much because who doesn’t love couples comprised of one puppy dog of a man and one man with the energy of a very annoyed cat? 

You’re My Sky

Contains Themes of: betrayal, cheating, sports related injury

This show has some of the most beautiful, saturated coloring of any show I have ever seen, the influence of I Told Sunset About You is incredibly clear (which makes sense because a screenwriter and director on You’re My Sky was a Screenwriter on ITSAY/IPYTM). I am not a huge sports person, but I do love a sports drama, and this one does a stellar job with the way it shoots it’s basketball games. It has Suar, who I was first introduced to as Tien in La Pluie as the main character and he is just SO. GOOD. This dude has been in three shows TOTAL and he just absolutely DEMOLISHES this role, and his role in La Pluie. Seriously, even if you could not give two shits about basketball (as a sport I do not, in this show I care very much) you should watch this show just to see Suar run a masterclass in acting. 

Girl Loves 

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of girl love shows that exist, the only one I have even seen coming out of Asia is GAP the series (a handful more exist, but they either seem to not be popular and/or are hard to access). It is an unfortunate reality that we are still fighting for more WLW content, especially GL content where the romance is the main and central plot. So, I don’t have a strong list to give you, because what does exist is limited and often gets canceled, but I will give you what information I do have:

Contains Themes of: student disappearances, death, undeath 

This is an 8 year old Western webseries based on the book of the same name. I watched this around the time it came out and loved it a lot. There are a couple seasons and a movie, all of it is really really good, and was some of the earliest queer representation I had, including having the first non-binary character I had ever seen on screen (does not mean there weren’t others, this is just the first one that I found). This is a webseries so it takes place almost exclusively in one room. 

GAP the Series

Contains Themes of: severe homophobia, suicide, emotional abuse, death of a sibling

GAP was fun, it started out really strong, but it did lose me a little bit at the end. But that is mostly because I am not the biggest fan of boss and employee stories where an equal power balance is not established. I think it s a really solid attempt at kickstarting GL into an industry rather than just an occasional one off. This is required viewing in my opinion because of how it was funded, and because it has some of the highest view rates out there for queer Thai shows, and really helped prove that GLs were stories that people really really wanted to see (read: production companies started to realize they could make a lot of money). 

I can offer you a suggestion from other people: 

She Loves to Cook, She Loves to Eat 

(Japanese GL- I have not seen this yet and I am not sure where you can find this show. But I do know that everyone who has seen it loves it, and I plan to watch it soon. A Season 2 was announced recently but is not out yet)

Non GL shows that either have a lesbian or bisexual character and/or have a GL pairing as a side plot: 

Bad Buddy (the second couple, but still has limited screen time)

Secret Crush on You (very minor couple, but has been in a relationship from the beginning)

La Pluie (A very small part of the story)

Lovely Writer (I have not seen this show, I do not know exactly what the plot is, or what purpose this character serves, but I know there is a bisexual character named Tiffy, who won the BL Bisexual Swag 

The Warp Effect (one of the shows with a pretty strong lesbian couple)

Gameboys and Pearl Next Door

A book I really love with a WLW couple in it and a gay character is The Priory of the Orange Tree

GMMTV has started filming their first GL, which we hope will air late this year (or maybe early next year), it’s called 23.5 Degrees and I am very much looking forward to it!

If it is queer and from Thailand and I love it, odds are extremely high that Jojo Tichakorn wrote and directed it. Despite some very heavy themes this was a very very fun watch, it is one of the most kink positive, sex positive, and queer shows that I have seen. I have a friend who is a sex educator and I want them to watch this show for it’s public speech announcements about getting HPV vaccines and how pelvic exams work. This is not a show I can explain super well, but it is one that I highly recommend, and if you are planning on watching Only Friends, then it is something I consider a required viewing. 

Gay OK Bangkok 

(Thai- available on YouTube)

Contains Themes of: cheating, HIV

This is a very real look at the existence of gay men in Bangkok, I love it so much. This is a pair up between Jojo and Aof, two of my favorite directors. It is not a feel good show, it is an honest one. I think everyone should watch it.

Contains Themes of: cheating, manslaughter, murder, murder of a spouse, kidnapping, domestic abuse, sexual assault, strangulation, transphobia, death, gun violence

Once again, a Jojo show, and once again, despite the list of themes within the show, a very fun watch. This is one of, if not the only GMMTV show with a throuple, and is honestly very hilarious by way of three idiots on the run from the mafia, accidentally through mostly shit dumb luck and the fact that everyone is stupid, taking down a criminal empire. 

The Owl House 

(United States- available on Disney+, season 3 available on YouTube) 

Contains Themes of: white supremacy, child abuse, child neglect, heavy trauma, mind and body control, death, possible world destruction

This is an animated show that I love dearly and one I find incredibly important for the next generation of queer people to see. The main character is neurodivergent, she is bisexual and gets a girlfriend, there is a non-binary side character, and there is also just a lot of casual queer representation. This show has a lot to say, and says it well, it is adorable and heartbreaking and everything in between and the fact that it got canceled is honestly a tragedy. 

Dead End: Paranormal Park

(United States- available on Netflix) 

Contains Themes of: possession, murder, death, undeath, paranormal activity, religious infighting, amnesia, animal death, kidnapping, child death, implied transphobia

This is also an animated show that I love dearly and one I find incredibly important for the next generation of queer people to see. The main character is trans, the other main character is neurodivergent and bisexual, there is a lot of casual queer representation. Like The Owl House this show has a lot to say, and says it well, it is adorable and heartbreaking and everything in between and the fact that it got canceled is also a tragedy. 

[I realize for The Owl House and Deadend Paranormal Park that my descriptions are very similar, but I cannot stress enough that these two shows have very different premises and tell very different stories. They are just animated shows that are able to contain a lot more queer representation that the stories that came before them, because of the stories that came before them]
