B) he most likely is missing him and is lonely

Just thinking about how Adrien, who was taught by his father conditional love and that he needed to behave perfectly in order to be shown any affection or attention, is given the very opposite display of love in his relationship with Marinette. How, he knows and has the validation that Marinette has fallen for both of his identities, that she loves each compartmentalized and individual part of him. How she not only loves him when he's silly and when he's more somber but enjoys and appreciates those sides of him. How Marinette's love for him oozes out with every gift and kind gesture, to the point where Adrien doesn't even need her to tell him she loves him but she works on being able to do so anyways. How Marinette is a comfort for him and he can be vulnerable with her without having to fear any kind of retribution. How Adrien finally has a relationship in which he feels safe and loved and doesn't need to meet any sort of standard or "deserve" anything to get security and affection from her

One thing I love about Zuko and Mai as a couple is how snuggly they are with each other!
