a/n: how could i ever even describe how fond i am of minho ?? he is so silly and weird and i'd protect him at all costs <333 as my job has been less than desirable for a long time, these coworkers hcs bring me soooo much comfort, and i hope they provide the same kind of serotonin for you !! pics not mine~

almost everyone in the office is scared of him

you two never crossed paths because you work in different departments, so the only things you knew about him were what coworkers told you

the first time you saw him was when you went into a quiet place in the office to watch some videos and take a mental break from work

he was hiding in that very place because he had been reprimanded by his supervisor for a project (his partner on it was the one who dropped the ball but just so happened to be “sick” that day) and minho needed to collect himself before going back to his desk

that’s how you caught the scariest guy in the office looking at pictures of his beloved cats

when he noticed you, he tried to play it cool and act annoyed, but you saw the tips of his ears turn red as he realized you saw him being super soft for his precious cats

reading the room, you asked “rough day?” and the genuine concern in your voice completely melted minho’s scary facade away

he scoffed, rolled his eyes, and answered “yeah. gotta love being someone else’s fall guy”

that sparked a conversation that included him showing off his cats to you, and you showing him the silly little videos you were watching to boost your mood

slowly but surely, minho would seek you out whenever he wanted a friendly conversation

you were the only person in the office he didn’t try to intimidate, and everyone else was in complete awe of this

especially when they saw you two doing word/logic puzzles at work during your breaks

he even bought one of those massive puzzle books so you two could use it

whenever your lunches didn’t line up, you’d leave each other teasing and/or encouraging notes in the margins of the pages

that book became a conversational record between you two

he’d never admit it, but, sometimes, when minho was feeling sentimental, he’d look through old pages and laugh at how your notes got more and more ridiculous as you two got more and more comfortable with each other :,-)

you become the minho translator because you just know him so well uwu

like if you two are sitting together during a coffee break and a coworker asks about weekend plans, minho would give a vague answer about interdimensional travel

before your coworker’s brain goes into overdrive trying to decode the statement, you’d explain, “he’s going to the animated film festival this weekend”

your coworker nods and silently leaves after getting their coffee, completely unaware of the snort minho let out at your translation

minho, despite befriending you, does not let go of his scary persona

in fact, because he’s so fond of you, he’ll use it to protect you

if someone bad mouths your quality of work or makes a snide remark about you in general, minho responds in a way that gives them nightmares for weeks

he never tells you that he does that, but you do catch him smirking whenever one of the perpetrators is nicer to you in the office >:-)

he’s super supportive of you at work too !!

he’s your number one advocate when it comes to asking for a raise, applying for a promotion, etc.

minho thinks you deserve the best, and he’ll fight tooth and nail himself to get that for you, even though he knows you are more than capable of achieving greatness yourself

he thinks so highly of your skills and talent, and he wants to make sure you recognize your own potential <3

if he’s feeling insecure or down because of work or poor interactions with coworkers, he’ll turn to you for support, even if he doesn’t directly admit that something’s bothering him

he could make a joke like “ah, how’re you going to solve this crossword if i get fired?”

obviously, you’d know exactly what he means by that and say “if you’re getting fired, i’m quitting because firing such a smart and competent employee is a major red flag”

he’d tease, “wow, you’re really dedicated to crossword puzzles”

you’d nod, and he’d smile softly because he knew that you were always going to be his rock at work, and he’s eternally grateful for that

minho is so selective with the people he lets close to him, and, since you passed the test, he wants you two to be close outside of the office too

it takes him a while to work up the courage to invite you to hangout after work

but, when he’s throwing a casual dinner party with his friends, he knows it’s the perfect time to see each other without being bound by work schedules

you of course accept his invitation, but you also admit you’re a little nervous to meet all his friends

minho reassures you by telling you that he, a perfect and extremely cool person, has curated an impeccable group of people, so you have nothing to be worried about

and he’s totally right because all of his friends are not only super funny and kind, but they also love you !!!

and, more importantly, soonie, doongie, and dori love you <3333

every single one of his friends exposes minho for talking about you constantly lmao

minho gives them death glares but they refuse to miss out on the opportunity to tease him <3

especially chan because he thinks it’s so cute that minho is trying to act cool to impress you <3

by the end of the night, minho’s smiling ear to ear because you mesh so well with his friend group :,,,,-)

you two reference funny moments from the dinner party the next time you meet at work, and you’re both just bubbling with happiness because you can’t believe how lucky you are to have met each other by chance in a quiet corner of the office on a random afternoon <333

Welcome to the Jungle | Choices MC Colony | Episode #3

We are starting strong once again: Anitha and Rin got a case of the plague, Evie got malaria, and hot damn do we need an actual doctor out here! (Hello, foreshadowing 👀)

In good news, however, the panther problem is no more! (For now)

The MCs have been settled at Cedar Station for a couple of seasons now: purpose-specific rooms are being built; crappy barracks are being upgraded to little, individual houses, and we are getting more artsy with our crafting!

Luca *gasping softly*: cauliflowers, of course! Omg I'm a genius.

Anitha has taken non-cauliflower approaches to boosting settlement morale! Namely;

planting yellow, sunshiney flowers outside the rec room

singing songs to capybaras in the hopes they will come live with us (which... worked?! Go Anitha!! 💛)

Our MCs have collectively decided capybaras are the perfect symbol of hard work, perseverance, and being extremely friend-shaped, so they are now our ✨ venerated animal ✨ (Sprites now get a mood boost when they spend time near a capybara lol)

!!A wild Oliver appears!!

Good news: We have found a doctor! Bad news: Said doctor has been wandering alone in the jungle for weeks on end and is clearly Going Through Some Stuff

Dorian tried to calm Oliver down and talk him through The Horrors TM (and just managed to make things worse 😆)

Having a real doctor in the group means we can safely go on caravan journeys! Today, half of the MCs split off to:

Attend peace talks with a hostile faction

Fulfill a trade agreement with a nearby settlement

Loot an ancient ruin to get Dorian a cool new sword

Get... uh, wait- get mugged by a random imp raider who wanted to steal Oliver's extremely cool t-shirt?

um. Dorian's new sword got a test run and Oliver kept his shirt.

We did unfortunately run out of food on the way home, though, so our MCs have arrived back hungry, tired, and desperately in need of something fun to do.

Things were tense, folks. Rin might have snapped at Evie a little bit 😬

aaahhhh the blorbos are brawling aaahhh this is our first social fight

Things calmed down pretty quick when Evie went for the suckerpunch and cracked Rin's jaw. Rin got lots of quick jabs in too, so Evie has a ton of bruises to her torso, but I think since Evie went beast mode on this one, she wins 😆

Fortunately, Oliver knows just how to help 💗

We are all friends again in time for the Skylantern Festival though!! Awww look at them go 🌈✨ (Marianna is helping Evie with hers, that's so sweet 🥺)

Anitha: we require more morale Anitha: *brainstorming so hard* Anitha: I've got it. TWO Capybaras!!!

So, on top of our OG Labrador, Ricky, we now have Sunny and Sugar-Plum, our resident Guinea Bigs. We have also recently acquired an (actual) guinea pig and a cat!

I'm letting the smaller pets pick their owners on a "first nuzzled, first served" basis, so congrats to Evie and Oliver, who now have their very own pets!

(If it makes a difference, the guinea pig is male, the cat is female, both are 3 years old)

Raids are getting tougher! This one was weird, because some visiting traders rushed to our defense with... with their pet bull? Guys, we have it. Its... its fine, you don't need to-- okay, sure. Fine. Send in the bull. Also misfire your bow and arrow and shoot Dorian in the leg, that's great too.

It was a tough scrape, this one! A bunch of tough adventurers, pushed to their limits, trying to survive in this harsh, unforgiving jungle, came to steal our supplies. A few of their people died, some of ours were injured, and we hauled the enemy survivors inside to tend to their injuries (because what is the jungle without a little humanity, right?)

In what is perhaps the most metal move I have ever seen, here is Oliver talking Marianna through what to do when someone* has been stabbed in the kidney and is bleeding out

*"someone" in this instance is Oliver 🤘

OH MY GOD I JUST NOTICED MARIANNA USED THE REALLY GOOD MEDICINE I WAS SAVING THAT klsjgksfjglkdf dammit 😂 thats fine, I'd rather Oliver be okay, but omg that stuff is expensive and I only had 1 ahh 😭😭😭

Curiously... the enemy adventurers are rather taken by our empathy. These are good people, they say. This is a small settlement, but it looks homely. These people are tough, but fair. Hmmm...

"Do you really think we can trust them? We attacked their home." "We didn't have a choice! But these people seem... honest? They could have left us to die, but they didn't. Maybe... this could be a home for us, too." "Daenarya, that's madness. You can't just try to steal from someone, only to turn around and ask if you can join them!" "...Its worth a shot, right?"

-He's the sweetest

-Just like you're his biggest fan, he is your biggest hypeman.

-The ultimate walking sunshine. Gets an ultimate mood boost when you're around. When he falls for someone he falls hard. Always smiling around you.

-He doesn't have a main love language. One day he would constantly compliment you, next day he'd help you reach something that's standing above you and cuddle with you next.

-We all know he is the master, the pioneer, the king of rugby, he is always the best, but when you're spotted in the audience? That man is UNSTOPPABLE. Like some strange force possesed him. And this doesn't get unnoticed by his teammates.

-Starting from then, you will always be asked to attend their most important matches, to the point random people start mistaking you as a part of that team. You'd think those invites would stand for free entry to their matches, right??

-Well not at all...

-William would demand at least 10 minutes of victory kisses or loser cuddles (which, of course, barely happen).

-Also, if he sees you wearing merch with him? Get ready to not be able to break free from his arms.

-Probably has a photo of you kissing in front of his teammates under his bed.

-When he gets home he just wants to throw you onto the bed and cuddle (STINKYYYYY). You allow him only to do it after a shower.

-He'd be in heaven if you asked him to train together. He wouldn't care if you weren't the best. All that matters is that you cared enough to ask about his interests.

-Which means, he would love to take a look at your hobbies.

-Dates with William are always so much time. One time you'd wake up to him knocking on your door holding roses, inviting you for w romantic dinner, meanwhile next time he'd want to take you to a trampoline park.

-You'd be a frequent visitor of events, fairs, festivals. William WILL take part in that hammer game whatever it's called. He's also going on insiting to win you a plushie in those game machines. He aims for those big ones but you end up with a small teddy bear (you still love it).

-Holds your hand all the time. He likes comparing their sizes.

-Loves to sleep together. You both started a huge collection of plushies to decorate his bed. William would insist on you to wear his pajama - maybe sleeping only in underwear isn't the best idea when you live in a cold manor, but you would snuggle with him anyway.

-Plushies aside, you two have a collection of funky blankets.

-You spend hours braiding his hair.

-Especially loves when he's laying on his bed and you kiss every part of his face. Absolutely a big spoon.

-Pillow forts, PILLOW FIGHTS. He's... surprisingly competitive.

-Isn't a fan of reading books for entertainment, though would kill to have you reading to him. It can be anything really, he's going to fall asleep in a few minutes.

-Also loves when you sing him lullabies.

-Your sleep schedule is unhealthy? Not on his watch!!! He WILL trap you in his embrace. No buts.

-His wardrobe is basically your wardrobe now.

-Very big on pet names. Would use some basic ones but also likes coming up with the most ABSURD stuff. You don't know how to act when you're randomly called a silly rugby ball.

-You two probably make up some weird code only you two understand, maybe a special handshake?

-He loves showing you off to everyone else. If you don't have a lot of friends fear not because after William constantly talks about you his friends would be keen on meeting you.

-A volcano of energy. He can have a lot of thoughts at once. If it's too much for you, tell him to slow down. You often help to ground him.

-If you're comfortable with pda you're going to be constantly hugging, being carried, kissing. He would also make a big deal off showing himself off to you. Expect to be asked to sit on him while he's doing pushups.

-A total crackhead. Loves acting like he doesn't know you in public so he can hit up on you and make you blush.

-Would offer you to teach you some self defense moves, so his love can be safe when he's not around.

-Takes your safety seriously. He wants you to think of him as THE man.

-Loves it when you sit on his lap. You maybe me next to a table that has like 10 not taken seats yet you'd still choose William to the point when you're invited to a party people stop reserving a seat for you.

-He's the life of that party as well. He's like that one strange uncle at the family gathering who'd like to show off his wild dance moves to you.

-You're his partner in crime, his little helper. When he wants to pull off some pranks around the manor he's going to ask you to help him out.

-If you're feeling uncomfortable, he's going to take all of the attention to himself.

-Though, please, dear reader, make sure to check up on him. Sure, he finds proving himself to you fun, but i'm convinced you'd prefer to do some silly activites together instead of having to take care of his aching body.

-Whetever it's an accident or actually William's fault, you always take care of him after tough matches and training sessions. You'd have him laying in a bathtub and washing him, you'd also patch him up if anything happened.

-Secretly loves when you kiss his wounds, though won't directly admit. Also liked his beard touched!

-You love kissing his muscles in a non sexual way. It's making his ego rise to the roof.

-And he'd do the same. He'd place you on his bed and you won't have to move a hand. Maybe his bandaging skills aren't the best but he bandages you with love.

-Man's an athlete, and an athlete has to eat a lot. He would be so flustered if you made him food, especially if it's something foreign, something he's never tried before. If you messed something up he'd act like the tears from his eyes are out of love.

-Likes when you hide sweets in random places in his dorm so he can seek them.

-He'd love to make some food with you together next time! And share it with you later.

-Would make a bucket list of all the weird restaurants nearby to visit with you.

-Prepare his sport clothes for the next match/practice, he's going to melt.

-You bought some new clothes? His dorm suddenly becomes a catwalk.

-He's fit, therefore he rarely gets ill, but when it happens? He's going to act like a literaly baby, whining for you to be near him all the time, feeding him, entertaining him.

-He is very emotionally intelligent. William can tell when you're uncomfortable, sad, or acting happy but not actually feeling like it. If you feel down, he'd cheer you up by acting goofy to see you smile. You can talk to him about anything that bothers you.

-He wants to be there for you all the time. When he's not, he's making sure to hire Ganji as your bodyguard.

-He's like a walking heater. And you take advantage of it.

-You like climbing him up like a goofy monkey.

-He's turning into a giant teddy bear the moment he sees you crying. And when it turns out someone else made you cry? He makes sure to give him a talk the next day.

-Would wrap you into a blanket burrito and hold you.

-Or, a more intense option, he'd warn you about the tickle monster. WHAT monster you're probablt asking? Well, he turns off the light and suddenly the tickle monsters attacks his prey.

-He isn't very jealous. Overall, while he wants to be a safe place for you, he also believes he should let you handle a few things on your own - though do not hesitate to come to him if in need, he'd be more than happy to help. Though if he ever becomes jealous, he tries to act like he actually isn't.

-William would become feral if something happened to you. It's now up to Naib and Ganji if they decide to spare the intruder and hold William back or not.

-Arguments between both of you rarely happen, they're play fights at most if anything.

-When you provoke him into a tickle fight he shows NO mercy.

-You two are totally going to overdose vitamin gummy bears for kids.

Joe Thanksgiving Headcannon🧡

happy thanksgiving! hope everyone has a great day with friends and family. Disclaimer: this is what i just think joe would be like on thanksgiving🧡

- [ ] “Turkey is high in tryptophan, which is an amino acid so it boosts your mood.”-Joe (true fact btw.)

- [ ] will eat the ham instead though.

- [ ] his outfit will always be grey jeans and a brown hoodie for the festivities plus a white beanie.

- [ ] will give everyone a “thankful for you” speech at the dinner table.

The Story of Live Action BL in Japan

This is an extra post to accompany the history of BL post I did earlier.

Japan has had live action BL long before Thailand entered the picture. It was however mostly melancolic stories or manga adaptations, until their own particular boom happened. I make a difference between what I would call LGBTQ+ representation and BL Live Action, because even though they have existed parallely they are fundamentally different in their conception. Here is an interview with the curator of an exhibition that was held in Japan about the history of Japanese Queer Cinema.

The evolution of Japanese BL Live Action has been very slow, and mostly influenced by manga. It is still not a big market, but it has improved a lot in the most recent years. This is my attempt to put it into phases:

The indie like movies and bad manga adaptations

Let’s start with Boys Love (a movie), shall we?

It is the year 2006 and up to this point there has been a small boom of gay stories in the 1990′s (the first Tokyo International Lesbian & Gay Film & Video Festival was held in 1992 me thinks this might have sprung the yaoi debates). In the 2000's, we're at the start of a new little boom on BL type movies being made. Many of which would be directly released in DVD, with a constant melancholic and tragic approach to love stories between young men.

Homosexual love is only attarctive to the mainstream if it’s painful. Like typical japanese imposible loves that are explored because of the passion and innevitable tragedy (it’s a japanese trope of almost any kind of romance movie, up to these days). its the intensity of feelings and the poetry of it all. In Boys Love we see those elements that are now very common in BL manga. Straight men falling in love with beautiful young boys and loving them until their tragic end. The movie was released in theatres and was successful enough to get a sequel. Here is a very good review of the movie, to know more about it.

A number of similar movies (with happier endings) follow through. Then enters the Takumi kun series. Based off one of the most popular yaoi novel (and potentially the first live action novel/manga adaptation of BL), it has all the June tropes: Traumatized feminine Takumi, raped by his older brother when he was young, has developped an abberation to human touch which prevents him from making friends. He goes to a boarding school for rich kids where he shares a dorm room with Gii, the most popular kid on the premises, who has fallen in love with him. And it is through that love that Takumi gets over his illness and heals from his past. It was such a success in the BLsphere that it got 4 more movies. I believe it is the bane of @absolutebl existence.

After the first Takumi-kun movie, the production of BL type movies, or adaptations of manga gets a boost. We go from no more than 3 movies a year to 8 in 2008, ie:

Kindan no Koi Ai no Kotodama Taiikukan Baby

And so it continues. When a manga is popular enough it either gets a Live Action, a drama CD (voice actors record the manga dialogues) or/and a series of OVAs (Original Video Animation). Because that’s how they do marketing in Japan. I believe most, if not all, of these movies go straight to DVD. It’s a treat for the fans.

The beginning of the shift

As the manga source starts to evolve, so does the live actions. Japanese society starts being more aware of the LGBT (as the term is used for business startegy purposes). As it’s all about what is going to sell, slowly, a slight neutral realism starts to be felt. Melancoly starts to be replaced with happier moods.

The first adaptation I genienly enjoyed at the time was Seven Days, 2015. A 2 part movie, adapted from the manga, with a very simple story (still no characters properly defined as gay, but maybe they could count as bi?)

While more LGBTQ+ movies get made, the BL Live Action movies remain in the same vein. Adpating what is popular and sticking to the tropes of the time. For example, in 2017 we get simultaneously:

BL - Hidamari ga Kikoeru. A loud and energetic college student becomes friends with a hearing impared classmate, as he helps him take notes for class.

LGBT - Close Knit. An 11 year old girl gets tossed aside by her mother and goes to live with her uncle, who is dating a transgender woman.

The Middle Aged Man Phenomenon

Have you wondered why office settings are so popular in japanese BL? Well, it is mostly Ossan’s Love fault in my opinion.

Besides office romances being a staple of japanese tv dramas, in 2016 two major mainstream actors (Tanaka Kei and Yoshida Kotaro) participate in a small short film about a salaryman who discovers his boss is in love with him. A simple comedy filled with misunderstandings and funny shenanigans. As the response to it was very positive, they decided to turn it into a full flegged series. And so, Ossan’s Love comes out on prime television (TV Asahi) for all to see. It is the first time we see a story like this being shown in a mainstream channel, for all and anyone to see.

A year later after the success of Ossan’s Love we get the wonderful Kinou Nani Tabeta/What Di you Eat Yesterday? (2019), which would not have been possible without Ossan’s Love. There was confidence that there was a market for such a story. Followed by the OL movie: Ossan’s Love: Love or Dead. Which was later followed by a horrible horrible second season that nobody wanted. On this year too, Mood Indigo comes out. A sequel to The Novelist/Pornographer, which would secure it’s popularity. It later got a second season.

We are now in a second boom of interest in queer stories. And the number of movies and tv shows grow. Some of the most known:

Novel adaptation - Fujoshi Ukkari gay ni kokoru LGBT Movies - His Dramas - Life: Senjou no Bokura

Queer voices have been increasingly loud and, in 2015, two municipalities put in place a partnership to acknowledge same sex relationships (not recognized outside of those municipalities unfortunately).

And so, start mixing the homophobia free idealized stories, with more diverse queer content, with the harsh realities of LGBTQ+ people, and the cinematic interest of the filmmakers/directors.

The rise of the salaryman and the thai breakthrought

Thanks to the appeal of middle aged men, Japan now knows there’s a market to be had in producing BLs, so the adaptations sprout like mushrooms. The ground is ready to bear fruit, and so enters thailand with the big success of 2gether at the beginning of 2020.

Japan got to have the movie screened in their theatres. Thailand has broken the Japanese market barrier, as soon as the borders open after the pandemic, fanmeetings are held there one after the other.

And then, we get Cherry Magic in late 2020, which continues to cement that the current japanese BL boom is still going strong.

The Aftermath

The production of BL shows and movies reaches its peak and we get 26 (shows and movies) in 2022. Movies, specials and second seasons are being made.

From Utsukushii Kare 2021 to Strange 2023. Old and new manga gets an adapation and more queer representation grows in media overall.

The story of LGBT representation in shows in Japan

As an extra, I want to put here a few examples of how queer characters, and stories have entered the mainstream of japanese tv dramas. Many mainstream actors have also taken upon portraying such characters.

Pretty Proofreader (2016) - featured a gay side character, not relevant to the plot. My Brother’s Husband (2018) mini series - adaptation of Gengoroh Tagame’s manga about a man overcoming his homophobia through getting to know his bother’s husband Life As A Girl (2018) mini series - the life of a lesbian trans woman Ie Uru Onna S2 (2019) - one episode features different types of LGBT people who want to buy a house and the difficulties they face. Also had some type of side gay stoyline (a little queerbaity)? Ore no Sukato, doko Itta? (2019) - a gay man who dresses as a woman becomes a teacher at a highschool and helps with his is student’s problems.

Special mention to Residential Complex (2018).

A drama that featured 4 families living in the same residential unit, each with their own fundamental problems. The father in the traditional japanese family was unemployed, the man engaged to a younger second wife who wanted no children ends up having to take care of his son from his previous marriage, the young newlyweds that are eager to have kids can’t concieve and the single architect is actually living with his boyfriend. It was a show that had worked with an LGBT organization to make a faithful protrayal of LGBT realities.

Final Thoughts

Here is a list of all Japanese BL and Queer media, Japanese BL list. I recommend to check it out to see the variety of adaptations being made today. It is intersting to see the differences in plot in the shows that are adapting current manga (Our Dining Table) and those adapting older manga (Candy Color Paradox). There is also a lot of queer movies and shows worth checking out. Here are my recommendations:

Kamisama no Ekohiiki (series)

Both Me and Him are the Grooms (movie)

I think it is great that Japan is intergrating queer stories and voices to their BLs, as well as adapting more content to the screen. It is a very exciting moment to be living through, but it still feels like it might go away just as fast as it came. Japan is a very conservative country, that embraces change so very slowly. Queer vocies are making noise, but they have yet to manage to make their government listen. Japan is very setback in this sense.

I do no think Japan will be able to have a BL market similar to Thailand for its live action adaptations any time soon. They stick to what they know, which sometimes can be very good and others, bad.

I do hope for BL to keep on doing what it does best for society: subtly normalizing queer lives so that conservative people start welcoming the idea that they're just regular people (who deserve rights, come on Japan).

Hopefully we’re headed there.

when the time for snacks and food comes around, robin doesn’t hesitate to buy cotton candy first; it was blue and pink, bigger than the size of her head and she spent like five bucks on it. she would share it with you, pulling it apart to hand it to you only for you bite it directly out of her hand, and the laugh you let out was pure bliss in her ears, distracting her from the fact that her hair had suddenly stuck to the side of her cotton candy. she would panic, wanting it out of her hair immediately. and it’s when you rush to open the bottle of water to dampen the parts of her hair that was sticky, when she felt your hands in her hair, when your skin grazing her cheeks where you had kissed her earlier that she realizes that she was holding a breath in, making her feel like she was dreaming.

before you know it, the sun starts setting, right at the moment when you both take your seats on the cramped ferris wheel. as the ride gradually took you both up higher, you wouldinch your hand closer and closer to hers.

“hawkins is prettier than i remember,” you say, looking down at the tiny people beneath your feet all the endless trees trailing so far away, too high up to even recognize them.

Shaw [whispers]: What are you muttering about?

I didn't know when he came back and sat down behind me.

Shaw: Then I'll try another method, do you want to see it?

My heart moved, but because I couldn't give in so quickly, I didn't turn around.

Shaw: You don't want it? Then I can take it all by myself.

A burst of sweet breath came from behind.

Shaw [in a regretful tone]: It's rare for me to do it myself, and I didn't expect that someone would not appreciate it.

After all, I couldn't resist my curiosity, I turned my head slowly, and saw Shaw holding a piece of steaming pastry in his hand.

Shaw: Open your mouth.

MC: Huh?

In the moment of my bewilderment, a piece of sweetness was precisely stuffed into my mouth.

[Fifth anniversary bgm starts playing]

The sweet but not cloying taste carries the warmth of his fingertips on the corners of my lips, along with the taste buds to the heart.

MC: …Steamed sponge cake?

Shaw: It's Chinese New Year, let's add some color. I hope that next year, you’ll not be corrupted or poisoned by others and be rich overnight.

MC: Did you make this?

Shaw: Yes, I tried it when I was bored at home.

MC: Then I will try my best to help you finish it.

I pretended not to care, put the lunch box in my arms, and picked up another piece and put it in my mouth.

MC: The taste is not bad, barely passable.

Shaw [clicks his tongue]: The requirements are quite high.

He looked at me, and there was an imperceptible temptation in his tone.

Shaw: It's OK, you've got rid of the big trouble just now.

I coughed softly as I took the short end of the stick.

MC: For the sake of the steamed sponge cakes, fine. But in view of your performance, I have to reconsider whether to give you a New Year's Day gift or not.

Shaw raised his eyebrows, apparently he didn't expect that I had additional conditions. He threw away the copper coins in his hand.

Shaw: What’s so hard about this, let God fix it for you. If it’s YangYao, then give it to me.

MC: ….Let me tell you first, you are not allowed to play tricks.

Shaw: Who cheated?

Shaw: But I have a hunch that God is definitely on my side.

I picked up the coins and shook them a few times and scattered them on the table, one forward, one backward and one spinning.

When it was about to fall over, an invisible flash of lightning caused the coin to shake and fall in the other direction.

The two positive lines and one negative line are the Yang lines.

MC: Just now I seem to see something flickering…

Shaw [acts normal like he wasn't the one who did that]: Are you seeing things? Bring it here.

His smiling eyes were sly and bright, and they caught my eyes straight away.

MC: I am generous, this time I will forgive you ….

I handed him the gift box. Shaw took out the pendant inside, played with it in his hand.

Shaw: After all, you are still very concerned about the results of the old man's fortune-telling.

MC: After all it's about our luck and I want to make it better.

His hand paused, and a moment of enlightenment flashed across his eyes.

Shaw: The extreme misfortune divination that you just asked before, was also this?

When I didn't say anything, he reached out and pressed his hand onto my hair and rubbed it "viciously" a few times.

He changed his position and leaned loosely against me.

There was a hint of certainty in his lazy expression, it seemed that no ominous suffering could fall into his eyes.

It was like a solitary confidence that suddenly shattered all the unpredictable prophecies that had distressed me.

MC: It seems that my gift was superfluous.

Hearing this, he turned his palms, and hid the beads in fear of my repentance.

Shaw [clicks his tongue]: It takes a little motivation to fight against fate.

Shaw: How about it? Do you want to wipe out all the ominous divinations you made with me?

The careless ending of his sentence lifted the clouds of boredom that had been lingering in the mind for the past few days.

MC [happily]: Of course, you should take me with you for such an exciting event.

I raised my head and felt the warm breath blowing towards my face.

The second hand of the clock moved forward one by one, and there seemed to be cheers of countdown coming from the street in the distance.

I clasped it through his fingers and raised a smile.

It doesn't matter if this divination wasn't good, anyway, with him, even if there is a barren land ahead, we will definitely be able to blaze a path that only belongs to us.

As the hands overlap with the 12 at the top, there was a long chime and cheer outside the window.

MC: Happy New Year, Shaw.

Shaw: Happy New Year .

A Gift of Eternal Gratitude

The crisp notes of the holiday jazz music danced throughout the room, accompanied by the cackles of the roaring fire from the mantle. Coupled with the assortment of Christmas embellishments arranged around the mansion, the ambience was set and fitting for the festivities of the day. After hours upon hours of searching for the perfect Christmas tree, they were able to finally select one that suited the couple’s desire in longing for one that radiated warmth and coziness, while simultaneously indulging in a taste of sophistication. Husband and wife were spending the day decorating.

Shiny garland, rows of lights, and ornaments of only the highest of caliber were spread out around in totes and were at MC’s full disposal. Napoleon’s lips faintly curled upward while MC pranced around the room, eyes wide and sparkling in admiration at all the crafted options she had to choose from. Over years prior, Napoleon had grown accustomed to his own Christmas tradition that he longed for, which entailed the vision of MC decorating their tree. From the way she would fret over the minute details such as which ornament should be hung on each branch, to the way she would bat her eyelashes and sheepishly smile when it came time to place the star on top of the tree.

Even on the tips of her toes, MC couldn’t reach the top on her own. Adopted as their ritual once everything was allocated on the tree, Napoleon would give her a boost and hoist her up so that she was able to place the finishing touches on their masterpiece. There were several new customs that the Bonaparte family adapted to once Comte wedded them; most of which Napoleon never envisioned himself partaking in, but the star was one that he held dear and cherished the most.

Except for this year since they had to adjust because-

“What do you think you’re doing?” Napoleon distressed, closing the distance between him and MC as he strode across the room. MC, whose swollen belly was now visible since she had entered her second trimester, was about to set foot onto a stepstool. “I told you I would take care of the branches you couldn’t reach. Please steer caution of any unnecessary risks, for the sake of yourself and our child.”

“I-I’m sorry,” MC whimpered, her lip trembling while her shoulders hunched. “Christmas time is one of my favorite times of year, and I only wanted to partake in our family tradition. I didn’t even imagine what may have happened to the baby if something happened. I’m sorry, Napoleon.”

Napoleon sighed, his heart twitching at the sight of the dejected look cast onto her face. His intent was to not harm MC’s feelings; rather the father-to-be’s instincts to protect

Desperate to fix her dampened mood, Napoleon walked over to his desk and opened the drawer that contained one of MC’s hidden away Christmas presents.

“Here, open this,” Napoleon instructed, passing the gift over to MC while willing she wouldn’t catch a glimpse of the crimson creeping into his cheeks.

Stifled were the drops of tears glistening her eyelashes as the sound of wrapping paper being torn echoed throughout the room. The familiar warmth of MC’s embrace wrapped his body into a hug. A teardrop trickled onto his neck and Napoleon swiftly moved to brush away the wetness pooling away in her eyes, before glancing down at the gift she had unwrapped clutched tightly between her fingers. Napoleon had sought the assistance of Vincent to craft a hand painted ornament of a baby’s footprint.

“Napoleon, I’ve never received this thoughtful of a present before,” she revealed, blinking at the realization that next Christmas there would be another member of the family joining them. Her hand was drawn to the swell of her abdomen, and Napoleon’s soon joined his on the top of hers. “Next year, the three of us will be celebrating Christmas together as a family.”

The very thought caused a warmth to flood his heart. Although Napoleon was secretly overjoyed at their prospective future outlook, he also selfishly wanted to savor the last holiday they would be spending alone as a couple for a while.

“Come on, that ornament isn’t going to hang itself on the tree,” Napoleon urged, offering his assistance to MC.

He gently grabbed on to her outstretched hands and led her back over to the tree. MC surveyed the tree and then grinned at finding the perfect branch, leaving the tribute ornament front and center.

MC leaned her head onto Napoleon’s shoulder as her gaze roamed to the top of the tree. She momentarily lost herself in a sweet reminisce of how many times Napoleon and her would place the tree topper together. How such a simple action always filled her heart with such happiness was something MC would forever cherish as one of her favorite memories. Relieving those past moments gave her a sudden idea and MC perked up her head.

“Napoleon?” she prompted, capturing his gaze as looked over to address her. “Maybe in a few years, I’ll be able to join you in helping someone else put the star on the top of our tree.”

MC glanced down and rubbed her stomach affectionately. Napoleon marveled at the precious sentiment of the woman he took as his wife standing beside him in pride while their future child carried on the ritual they’ve grown accustomed to. Now that was another tradition that he could find himself looking forward to.

Though his wife standing by his side was naïve to his thoughts, Napoleon silently vowed to spend the rest of his eternity demonstrating his gratitude to the woman who was bearing the most valuable gift that the vampire could have ever prayed to be granted.

I'm super happy because I did a 67hr fast and drank a lot of water while trying to get to at least 5k steps a day and I dropped 3kgs in 67hrs...i feel so proud of myself but here's what I learned from this experience :

1. after 50hrs my body seemed to really adapt to the hunger and I suddenly felt nothing. no hunger at all but I was just super tired.

2. at this point I felt super faint and ready to pass out at anytime which sucked because I was doing a lot besides my workouts.

3. chugging ice cold water totally helps when I feel like I can't go on and boosts my energy and mood.

4. i know this may have been a cheat but at 46hrs I had a had a hot chocolate and it satisfied my hunger enough to keep going. felt like crap afterwards though cause I was convinced I would gain more weight (I didn't though :)) so maybe a hot chocolate mug is good to have I guess.

5. hunger came back at 65ish hours but I tried to stay afloat by distracting myself with reading which totally helped... I'm sure a movie would also distract me enough.

6. I surrounded myself with thinspo pics by changing my phone wallpaper to a collage of thinspo images and it was motivational.

7. avoid walking into the kitchen or seeing food as much as possible. that was a big help.

8. chewing gum really helped when I felt faint. don't know why but it kept me afloat.

9. the first 24 hours were the hardest but after that I could handle it. turns out I'm stronger than I give myself credit for.

honestly this was an amazing experience for me. really showed me that I definitely have a lot of strength and I can really get to my ugw if I want it bad enough. I'm definitely going to get to 72hrs in the future. I'm actually thinking of doing a 3 day fast every single week and having a single hot chocolate mug when I'm at my weakest of course. from a frightening 75kg all the way down to 72kg in 3 days might not seem like much but it's actually so much I could sob rn. I broke my fast after 67hrs because I had to go to a dumb food festival dinner thingy with my parents but surprisingly I only ate half a mushroom calzone and was so full I couldn't move. I took that as a good sign cause it means I may have shrunk my intake because of the fast. weighed myself before the dinner and I was at 72.6kg and this morning I'm at a clear 72.0kg so I didn't even gain from it... I actually lost. super proud of myself already. I can do it. I can get to my GW which is 60kg before Christmas if I keep going. and to whoever reads this long ass post you can do it too. you are in control.

Symptoms include feelings of sadness, lack of energy, loss of interest in usual activities, oversleeping, and weight gain." Preparing for fall to prevent or alleviate seasonal depression, also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), involves proactive steps to maintain your mental and emotional well-being as the days get shorter and the weather becomes colder.

Here are some strategies to help you prepare for fall and mitigate the symptoms of SAD:

Light Therapy: Consider investing in a light therapy box, also known as a lightbox. These devices mimic natural sunlight and can help alleviate the symptoms of SAD. Use the lightbox in the morning for about 20-30 minutes to regulate your circadian rhythm and boost your mood.

Maintain a Regular Schedule: Stick to a consistent daily routine, including regular wake-up and sleep times. This can help regulate your body's internal clock and improve your mood.
