Video published by Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas) allegedly showing them tracking an officer in the elite Shaldag unit, Yitzhar Hoffman, before he was killed by a sniper. Hoffman is said to be responsible for the siege and storming of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
Translation:
A unit of the occupation forces is holed up in Gaza City. The images obtained exclusively by Al Jazeera allow the location of the concentration to be determined. The field command center was established in a sports club, about one kilometer away from Al-Shifa Hospital, and located within the Jawazat area, which witnessed fierce clashes between the Israeli army and the Resistance factions for weeks.
This is Yitzhar Hoffman, a platoon leader in the Shaldag Special Unit. He was responsible for drawing up a plan to besiege Al-Shifa Hospital and then storm it last November. According to photos obtained by Al Jazeera, which are being shown for the first time, the Al-Qassam Brigades monitored Hoffman's movements after storming the hospital. At the end of last January, the Al-Qassam Brigades waited for the Israeli army to announce the killing of Hoffman so that they publish pictures of the operation and identify the targeted person.
The Al-Aqsa flood was not the first confrontation in which the Qassam Brigades used sniper weapons. The developed Al-Ghoul rifle that mimics the specifications of the Austrian-made Steyr rifle, caliber 12.7 mm, has the capabilities and features of an assault rifle with an adjustable system, to transform from an assault rifle into a sniper rifle.
The Al-Qassam Brigades were able to manufacture it locally and it bore the name of one of the most prominent symbols of military manufacturing in Al-Qassam: the martyr Adnan Al-Ghoul. With the rifle, Al-Qassam produced the appropriate ammunition to enhance the rifle’s effectiveness and feasibility.
The ammunition was manufactured with three specifications:
1- Training that enable the preparation of fighters within the special units.
2-Ammunition designed to target flammable materials.
3-Used to deal with the armor and fortifications used by the Israeli army.
The impact of the locally manufactured weapons is show on battlefields, in a way that the bullet penetrates the helmet worn by the soldiers and explodes after penetration. The bullet can also penetrate the protective vest, which is supported by a metal plate that shatters when hit to cause damage to the upper area of the body. It can also penetrate and disrupt devices and systems used by the occupying army.
To put the weapon into use, the Al-Qassam Brigades trained special units of fighters within its combat formations, as the photos obtained by Al Jazeera show. Training takes place after selecting fighters who have qualities that enable them to withstand long periods of waiting to capture a potential target, the ability to work under extreme pressure in difficult field conditions, the flexibility of concealment, determining the importance of the target and making the decision of execution.
The Qassam had previously used sniper weapons in field combat in battles before 2007, when it seized medium-caliber rifles like the Russian Dragunov and Brezhnev models and the Belgian FN FAL rifle. But it suffered from limited availability, scarcity of ammunition and its high cost. Then, heavy snipers including the Austrian Steyr and the Chinese M99, were brought into the Gaza Strip through supply lines. And documented operations were carried out using them.
The Ghoul rifle is the latest weapon in the resistance’s arsenal, which according to Al Jazeera’s information, recorded a verified hitting distance of 1800 meters in Al-Aqsa Flood Operation.

Guess we're asking gun opinions, alright. Opinions on the Dragunov sniper rifle.
The original SVD with wood furniture and PSO-1 optic, not the later SVDM or SVDS.
probably one of the sexiest, most beautiful DMRs there is. It's on my wishlist of airsoft replicas i want.

How big would an army of conscripts, armed with Dragunov pattern marksman rifles and iron sights, with between 1 and 3 magazines each, a radio headset that allows them to take orders on a platoon level (50 troops to be specific), and a single platoon artilleryman armed with an RPG-7 with 5 rockets, with assistance from a Mitsubishi Type 89 IFV (35mm autocannon, 7,62mm M240 pattern coaxial machine gun, tracked) and an aerial command/reconnaisance/attack/close air support aircraft, need to be to deal with an army of 1000 heavy pikemen, 50 elite knights, 200 heavy cavalry, 100 light cavalry and 200 longbowmen? The pikemen are armed with a pike and wear breastplates, pauldrons, gauntlets, a helm and chainmail. The heavy cavalry are armed with a heavy lance, a sword, cuirass and helm. Longbowmen use English yew bows and wear gambesons and a chainmail on the head. Light cavalry are armed with a spear, a short bow, and a small sword. The elite knights are armed with a heavy lance and a sword, and armoured in a full body suit of plate and horse barding, and they will move with the heavy cavalry.
Okay, so, for the record, you're not really supposed to use an SVD's iron sights. (SVD is short for “Dragunov Sniper Rifle,” so, these are formally called, “sniper rifles,” rather than just DMRs.) They were (supposed to be) issued with PSO-1 scopes. This can be a little amusing, because once you know what a PSO-1's range finder looks like, it's absolutely unmistakable, and you will see films and TV shows use them on other scopes. I bring this up, because the SVD has an effective range over 600 meters. (Specifications say it's good to almost 1.3km, but, that's very hopeful.)
However, with optics, those SVDs are going to massive out range any archer.
Your infantry have somewhere between 1k-3k packed rounds. So, if they were the only participants, they would need to be a little careful about ammo conservation. But, when you start factoring in the IFV, it doesn't matter.
This scenario isn't extraordinarily different from early battles in WWI. Where cavalry and infantry charged entrenched heavy machine gun fire, and were annihilated.
This is also a moment when the whole, “elite knight,” bit really doesn't matter. You have a minor noble, who spent almost their entire life training to be a better melee combatant. You put them in the best armor you've ever seen. And, then a bullet fired from a mass-produced sniper rifle, designed to be easily fabricated by anyone with a basic machine shop, and simple enough to be maintained by a barely literate conscript will drop them in less time than it takes to read this paragraph, before the knight even knows that someone is aiming at them.
I will say, this is a little bit of a weird combination, the Type 89 IFV, is a Japanese vehicle. The JSDF (to the best of my knowledge) has never used SVDs. These days, I think their DMR is the H&K 417. Until a few years ago, their primary infantry rifle was the Howa Type 89, which is basically a redesigned AR-18. Prior to that, they used the Howa Type 64, which was a 7.62mm battle rifle. (As far as I know, the Type 64 was domestically designed.)
The Russian/Soviet equivalent to the Type 89 IFV would be the BTR-80. As with the SVD, because it's a Romanized translation, BTR stands for, “armored carrier.” Somewhat obviously, these don't work particularly well if they're not maintained, or if the motor pool Sargent is stripping them for spare parts and siphoning gas to sell on the black market, because the government hasn't paid any of you in six months, but it's still going to have a fairly similar effect on those elite knights from the 11thcentury.
The 50 SVD rifles is weird. Full stop. It's a specialist weapon, not a general infantry weapon. In a situation like that, you'd expect to see conscripts armed with AKMs or AK74s, maybe a few SVDs and RPKs.
Now, if you were looking at a contemporary NATO unit from the 60s or 70s, then, yes, you would likely see battle rifles like the M14, FN FAL, or H&K G3. And, when you're describing using an SVD's iron sights, that's more how you have used one of those cold war era battle rifles. Also, while those rifles do have automatic settings, they're intended for semi-automatic fire.
If you're wondering why I'm not even addressing things like the areal support or the RPG, it's because they really don't matter that much. Areal reconnaissance means never having to wonder where the enemy forces are, but basically anything on this list except the RPG, could probably deal with all of the enemy forces on their own. Stacking them together would be absolutely devastating.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think you could use pretty much any modern IFV as a one-size-fits-all siege breaker if they're dealing with medieval forces.
When you're looking at modern military forces time traveling into the past, the biggest logistical issue is long term depletion of supplies. There isn't really a question of, “who's going to win? A guy with a rifle that's effective at a range of over a 1km, or 10 guys with pointy sticks. The issue is what happens in six months, or a year, when there's only three or four rounds left for that rifle on the planet, and, there won't be any more for another six hundred years.
-Starke

Hiya khushi ! I saw that vigilante arjun post and couldnt help being curious what weapons he'd use. I think he'd use a sniper of some sort but what do you think ? - @jokest3r
Hey, mate! Thanks for showing your interest in Vigilante!Arjun (〃^▽^〃)
I believe he'd mostly be a sniper, or fight on ground. If on ground, he'd use a combat knife, or any kind of weapon he finds. Not having any weapons? His fists and martial art techniques are enough to do the work.
And for sniping, he'd use a silenced Intervention, or Dragunov rifle. Hope it answers your question! ♡

Top five favorite guns?
5. Dragunov SVD. Soviet-era design semiautomatic sniper rifle! I mean, what’s not to like?
4. Kriss Vector. High tech pistol-caliber carbine design from outer space. I love the cool recoil mitigation system. Recoil mitigation is important to consider not just for follow-up shots, but also user experience and reducing discomfort and fatigue!
3. Glock 43x in 9mm. One of the best concealed carry guns in my opinion. It’s a perfect size: The grip is just large enough for a medium-sized hand, it has just enough weight and barrel length for decent recoil and accuracy, and it has a capacity of 10 rounds (+1 in the chamber) which is p decent. You can also still install a red dot sight and a weapon light on it which are huge pluses. And of course it’s a Glock which is a famously reliable brand (which I can back up with my own experience).
2. Glock 19 in 9mm. I love this gun. Slightly larger than a 43x in basically every dimension except for the grip which is significantly larger due to the double-stack magazine for a higher capacity. Good accuracy, good recoil, compatible with a wide variety of red dot sights and weapon lights, fits great in my hand & would probably be fine with even larger hands than me. Comes with multiple backstraps to adjust the grip too. Default capacity is 15+1 but it also accepts 17 round Glock 17 magazines as well as the 33 round fun sticks if you’re feeling really spicy. Suitable for competition, carry, range fun. I actually carry a glock 19 concealed which some people find bonkers because it’s technically a “subcompact” so it’s on the larger side for a concealed gun but tbh for my body shape I find it reasonably comfortable and I have never had a problem with concealment.
1. AR-15. I mean, they’re the LEGO of guns. You can build one to a wide variety of specs, there’s a huge variety of high-quality parts manufacturers, and even if you just buy a complete rifle there is a shitload of aftermarket support and you can always buy new parts to upgrade or replace shit real easy. Good ergonomics, easy to operate controls, reliable (when you have good quality parts), on average they have relatively low recoil with 5.56, not super heavy (unless you add a shitload of accessories LOL), easy to troubleshoot and disassemble, and suitable for a wide variety of applications. You can run one with a long barrel for precision, you can get a .300 Blackout upper with subsonic ammo and a silencer and run a super quiet one, you can use one for hunting, you can use one for home defense.
I know some leftists love AKs, but if you live in America, the AR is a much more practical choice in terms of parts and ammo and high quality parts manufacturers. If you’ve only shot AKs, you gotta try out an AR. They’re just downright easier to use, you can operate them faster than the AK design. Also, to the people who say that AKs are more reliable than ARs? I would counter by saying that ARs are actually very reliable. There’s lots of torture testing you can look up on youtube. The AK has loose tolerances, but the tight design of the AR actually does a good job of keeping dirt and foreign matter out of it. And you can run an AR pretty dirty as long as you keep it lubricated. Does not really need to be cleaned that often. There’s even a product you can buy online that’s a lubricant bottle that stows away inside of the pistol grip.

Since the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian authorities have begun integrating ideological and military-themed lessons into school curricula. However, their plans for the upcoming academic year are even more drastic. Children will receive instruction in combat training and learn how to use grenade launchers and automatic weapons, all as part of the required school curriculum. The Russian government has radically revised the list of social sciences, replacing them with militarized or ideological equivalents. Now, instead of economics and law, students will study “traditional values” and the “Russian world.” The independent outlet Holod explained Russia’s new educational model. Meduza shares an abridged version in English.
Russia's educational landscape has experienced significant shifts since the start of the full-scale war. In September 2022, schools across the country rolled out a new class called “Important Conversations,” a state-designed, “patriotic” lesson series meant to bring students’ spiritual and moral values in line with the Russian Federation’s National Security Strategy.
A year later, the Russian authorities supplemented this ideological teaching with military instruction. In addition to things like fire safety and first aid, students began learning “basic military training” in their “Fundamentals of Life Safety” classes. In 10th grade, they learn about the workings of the Kalashnikov assault rifle and “information-psychological warfare.”
Now, the Kremlin is looking to further expand ideological and military teaching in schools. From September 2024, “Fundamentals of Life Safety” will be replaced by something called “Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Defense.” (While related amendments to federal education law were made in July 2023, the program was only officially registered with the Justice Ministry on February 29, 2024.)
A child today, a soldier tomorrow
“Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Defense” (FHSD) is approved for students as young as those in fifth grade, but from eighth grade, the course is mandatory. Among other things, eighth and ninth graders will be taught about the tactical and technical characteristics of the Dragunov sniper rifle, the RPG-7 handheld anti-tank grenade launcher, the Kalashnikov assault rifle, and various hand grenades. Students will also study drill training, general military regulations, “the essence and importance of military discipline,” and “the essence of unified command.”
Instructors are tasked with fostering specific “personal results” in students by the program’s conclusion, including “a responsible attitude toward fulfilling one’s constitutional duty of defending the Fatherland” and “an understanding of the significance of the military oath.”
By ninth grade, students are expected to master skills such as putting on equipment and body armor, “assessing the risks of violating military discipline,” and performing drill exercises. Over the two following years, the program goes even deeper. Tenth and 11th graders will learn the basics of combined arms combat, how to set up a combat unit’s position, and how to use more modern firearms such as the MP-443 Grach pistol and the AK-12 assault rifle.
The FHSD program has between 136 and 238 lessons, depending on the grade level at which it’s introduced. Since schools can independently decide how many hours to allocate for each unit (there are still traditional topics such as disaster preparedness and response), this could add dozens of military lessons to those already required in the “basic military training” block. As a result, a significant portion of the school curriculum will focus on military training and preparing future soldiers for combat.
The Russian authorities plan to tap “special military operation” veterans to help teach the new subject, according to First Deputy Education Minister Alexander Bugaev, who said the ex-soldiers will fill an “invaluable niche [in schools by transferring] their personal experience.”
These veterans will be prepared for their new teaching career at the Vertex Center for Military Patriotic Education at Russia’s Federal State University of Education. After just 36 hours of training, a former soldier can get a document certifying them to teach in schools. In addition to retraining war participants as teachers, the center will organize military games for children. Officially, the university’s vice rector, Alexey Ryabtsev, heads the program, but the actual work is likely to fall to his deputy, Pyotr Ishkov, who served as deputy education minister of the self-proclaimed “Luhansk People’s Republic” in 2022. However, details about the center itself and its educational programs remain scarce.
Integrated ideology
Russian schools are also set to make big changes to core classes. Russia’s Education Ministry has already drafted a law that would replace social studies in sixth through eighth grade with something called “Our Region’s History.” While social studies will still be taught in high school, many Russians leave school after ninth grade to go to trade schools.
Less than half of the topics covered in “Our Region’s History” will actually touch on local history because the course is meant to incorporate topics from an existing discipline, “Fundamentals of the Spiritual and Moral Culture of the Russian Peoples.”
Course topics include: “The Traditional Family,” “Risks and Threats to the Spiritual and Moral Culture of Russia,” “The Russian World,” “Russian Language — the Basis of Russian Culture,” “Spiritual and Moral Values of the Russian People,” “Unity of Values in Russia’s Religions,” “Heroes of the Armed Forces,” and “The Citizen’s Duty to Society.”
Students will still have separate “Important Conversations” classes, but now state ideology will also be integrated into and dispersed across regular subjects.
Previously, ideological subjects could be mostly ignored. While they might influence awards at school, they didn’t have an impact on college admissions. Now that ideology has been added to the core school curriculum, though, related topics will be included on Russia’s college aptitude test, the Unified State Exam (EGE).
Students planning to take the history EGE are now required to know the reasons for “The Revival of the Russian Federation as a World Power,” “The Reunification of Crimea with Russia,” and “The Special Military Operation in Ukraine.” In 2023, only Russia’s annexation of Crimea was included.
In 2024, the list of topics students should know for the EGE in social studies includes things like “The Spiritual Values of Russian Society,” and “The Russian Federation’s State Policy to Counter Extremism.” Neither of these topics was on the exam last year.

Tell me more about Yelena. now. this is a threat. /j
BITCH. That’s like, idfk re-asking because you already know everything. But okay fine, I’ll talk about miss gurl. /h /af
Blake Clarke = Yelena Krasnova. (Yes, her name was changed).
The CIA agentry and psychological file curated for Blake’s activities at the E-9 CIA Safehouse, and of which are de-classified amongst E-9 personnel consists of the following information;
Blake was born on September 2nd 1953, as of 1981 she is 28 years old.
Blake was born in Hastings, a town close to London.
Her primary association is within SIS (MI6) in the role of Squad Leader, or more commonly; foreign agent. Operation involvement and squad activities are classified. But it is cited that she once worked alongside Helen Park, in whom recommended her for toleration.
Blake is near unmatched in the field of marksmanship, her skills also follow into near unrivalled sniper and field training. Proving herself useful in guerrilla warfare tactics. Seemingly able to make anything a viable weapon, or aide. Thus, it is recommended E-9 personnel make use of this advantage during their OP. Blake’s primary carrying weapon is a the designated marksman rifle: the Russian Dragunov SVD. The methods in how she obtained the Soviet weapon are unknown. Blake has also excelled in engineering, though the classification of her time in the military is on an immediate need-to-know basis and personal involvement. Blake is also adept in QCB/CQC and her skills of being an active intelligence officer are more inclined towards keeping her head low and blending in, taking time to learn an areas customs where she can. Which usually goes swimmingly.
Blake is a highly combative and paranoid agent. Keeping to herself is common. Engaging in conversation may seem empty or coarse as Blake commonly interacts with blunt and dry humour. But she has a sense of wit. It is cited that she is a highly unstable asset on the field, endangering herself to get the job done to an almost entirely lethal degree. She has a loose trigger finger. And tends to interpret the actions of others as hostile or invective. While professional, she is almost incapable of getting along with her peers. And in the case that she does, the bond is unbreakable. She is reliable, but it would be advisable to keep her on a very short leash. Blake may be quick to irate, but her loyalty is sung for.(paranoid—violent tendencies skills).
Blake’s appearance is a touchy subject, her usual attire, is often adorned with a balaclava with an eye slit. On the baseline, Blake is a highly athletic individual, if a bit underweight. Agile and stable on her feet; likely the fastest runner within the E-9 CIA TF. In the terms of extremely baseline identifiers. Her eyes are an olive drab green, skin is sickly pale. It is not anyones guess that her hair may be a diluted wheat blonde, maybe sandy with somewhat darker roots. And the Balaclava doesn’t cover up the scars over her right eye, it’s anyones guess how far those scars truly go. But it doesn’t take a genius to realise they’re also on her hands; continently covered with a pair of gloves.
(Other) skills are as following; Bilingual; English and Russian, Basic Cryptology, Sniper and Marksmanship adeptness, High Levels of Fitness, Advanced QCB/CQC training, Guerrilla Warfare tactics, Advsnced Weapons Maintenance knowledge, Intermediate Engineering skills.
It is 5am. I am going to calm the feck down. Some things are subject to change but it should only be very minor things. Anyways, I’m soo fancy! 🫡

"You know better than anyone never to mix pleasure with business Mr.Collins",she subtly protests ,her melodious well modulated voice resonating under the clink of wine glasses and the soft chatter of corporate moguls. She turns ever so slightly, almost without moving her body and gently tugs at a grape from a grey silver platter. Her movement is amazingly balletic, carefully calculated, calm and lateral, almost like a sniper in the snow adjusting his angle to match the recoil of a Dragunov rifle.
"Business is all about risks ma'am",I retort but my voice cracks under the pressure."Maybe if you let me close this deal with Mr.Ordell then you can teach me all you know about pleasure ".Her lower lip twitches slightly, betraying her urge.
"Fine, meet me by the balcony where our personalities collide when you are done. And don't keep me waiting".She walks off briskly, her long deceptively delicate leg parting the slit of her silk dress ever so sharply. I can't help but marvel at how God bestowed such immaculate grace on a mere mortal. She leaves behind a whiff of exotic floral scent that would make a garden of Yasmins pungent in comparison.Solidly confident in her aura, her gait is as measured as a toddler's first steps as she vanishes into the crowd of tuxedos and the soft cadence of Jazz Music.
"You will be the death of me Kaisha". I curse under my breath, and as if on cue,the band starts to play Chet Baker's classic 'I fall in love too easily'.

REVEALED: Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists were trained in Iran, a captured commander in the terror group reveals in an interrogation with the Shin Bet.
Basel Mahadi, an Islamic Jihad platoon commander, who was nabbed by troops in Gaza on December 20, details how he left Gaza and was sent to Iran for military training.
Mahadi says he was trained by Iranian instructors with 15-20 other Islamic Jihad operatives, from Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.
"My commander called me and said that I should go to Iran for a sniper course, I will benefit from it and my salary will increase when I return," Mahadi recalls, in excerpts of the interrogation provided by the Shin Bet.
"I went from the Gaza Strip to Egypt where I stayed for about two weeks, from there I went to Syria for a few days and then to Lebanon. After two weeks we went from Syria to Iran," he says.
"In Iran, the course was 15 days. It had physical fitness training and shooting training on different types of weapons," the Islamic Jihad commander says.
He says that they spent four days training on Kalashnikov rifles up to distances of 100 meters, another five days up to 150 meters, and then six days training on the Dragunov sniper rifle, up to distances of 300 meters.
He says other Islamic Jihad operatives in Iran also underwent rocket training. - Mannie Fabian
