🚨🇾🇪 A million-man march is taking place now in Yemen's Sabeen Square under the title "Loyalty of Yemen of the Ansar to Gaza of the Free," where the Yemeni Armed Forces will soon issue a statement regarding the details of the fourth round of escalation.

The march statement saluted the Palestinian people and resistance's steadfastness, affirming their commitment to popular activities in support of Palestine.

They commended the students at American and European universities, as well as the professors supporting them, expressing solidarity as their face zionist attacks and arrests.

They appreciated that the Yemeni Armed Forces responded to the popular calls to escalate and increase operations in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean, and congratulated the operations against the zionist enemy in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iraq.

They commended the movements in African countries to liberate themselves from American hegemony, and reiterated their demand to open land corridors to allow Yemeni fighters to reach Palestine.

Victory Over a Hospital:

As the IOF's failed ground invasion progressed, the crumbling zionist entity made Al-Shifa Hospital the main target of its frantic propaganda campaign. The zionists suggest that the fall of the hospital—which houses thousands of medical workers, patients, and displaced Gazans—means the fall of Gaza.

A false "victory" over a hospital seeks to create illusory achievements for the zionist entity, which has failed to achieve any goals thus far in its response to the October 7th offensive. Further, the occupation seeks to demoralize Palestinians, making them falsely believe that the fall of the hospital is a blow to the resistance to further their true goals of displacing Palestinians from their land.

This deception will not work, as these blatant lies in their offensive campaign against hospitals, amplified by the American government, have been disproven time and time again by the resistance. The heroic staff of the hospital vowed to continue their medical duty. The resistance has made clear that, strategically and militarily, the hospital is unimportant. The IOF's storming of it is simply a desperate act, reflecting their inability to achieve meaningful military objectives in the face of a humiliating defeat. The bloodthirsty IOF continues its assault, in light of the dozens of martyrs that have ascended in the courtyards and halls of Al-Shifa Hospital.

This futile attempt to undermine resolve should be understood by the Palestinian people and allies, steadfast in the face of this aggression; it will only strengthen the determination to resist. Originally, the "Resistance News Network" tweeted, "In yet another cowardly act of cold-blooded execution, zionist forces shot the martyr Aref Abdelnasser Lahlouh (21) from Jenin the settlement of Kedumim, east of #Qalqilya after beingf orcibly removed from his car. After the video evidence, there was a complete about face. They proudly show the video, saying "Martyr Aref Lahlouh attempted to carry out a stabbing operation on IOF soldiers in #Qalqilya before his ascendance to martyrdom."

Hamas also tries to have it both ways, but they choose to give one message in English to the West and another in Arabic.

The IOF has ordered by loudspeaker for hundreds of displaced civilians to evacuate their shelter in part of Al-Shifa Hospital complex. If they refuse, the building will be bombed with them inside.

Communication has been lost with people inside Al-Shifa, including medical staff. In a livestream on Instagram earlier this evening, Islam Bassam Barbari stated that very little news is coming out about what the IOF is doing there, and people are extremely concerned.

The Ministry of Health spokesman gave a press conference moments ago at the site of the genocidal US-funded zionist massacre that saw over 500 martyrs.

He says, "The IOF told us, 'we warned you yesterday with two bombs. So why have you not evacuated the hospital until this moment?'"

Several hospitals have received threats by the IOF to evacuate, such as Awda Hospital, and others have been bombed or threatened with it, such as Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Hospital. Palestinians stand steadfast: The Director of the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah, Dr. Suhaib Al-Hams said, after the occupation threatened to evacuate the hospital for the second time: "We will not leave except as martyrs." Al-Shifa Hospital lacks power because of the zionist entity's refusal to allow aid in, and the lives of 3,500 patients are at risk.

The Ministry of Health spokesman continued:

"Today, as we witness this compounded crime and these numbers, the medical staff could only perform surgeries in the corridors, even without anesthesia, to help what could be helped and save what could be saved.

Yet, the treacherous hand and the cowardly hand were ahead, causing the murder of hundreds of martyrs and injuries in this massacre, which occurred under the world's hearing and sight.

Today, as we work under these circumstances, crossings have been closed, patients have been prevented from being transferred, medical teams have been prevented from attending, supplies have been prevented from reaching, electricity has been cut off, fuel has been prevented from entering hospitals, and everything that might support a human has been banned.

Today, this matter is compounded by bombing health institutions, bombing ambulances, bombing roads, bombing medical staff...Those civilians who sought refuge in the hospital thought that this place would be safe."

Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) announced they uncovered a large tunnel created by Hamas approximately 400 meters from the Erez Crossing that goes 50 meters underground in Northern Gaza.

The Occupation claims the tunnel extends for about 4 km, and is large enough to fit hundreds of people and small vehicles.

The discovery was hailed by the IOF as an accomplishment, due to the effort, time, and resources that were lost in the attempt to dig up such infrastructure built by Hamas.

Generative AI develops potential new drugs for antibiotic-resistant bacteria - Technology Org

With nearly 5 million deaths linked to antibiotic resistance globally every year, new ways to combat resistant bacterial strains are urgently needed.

Stanford Medicine and McMaster University researchers are tackling this problem with generative artificial intelligence. A new model, SyntheMol (for synthesizing molecules), created structures and chemical recipes for six novel drugs to kill resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii, one of the leading pathogens responsible for antibacterial resistance-related deaths.

The researchers described their model and experimental validation of these new compounds in a study published in Nature Machine Intelligence.

“There’s a huge public health need to develop new antibiotics quickly,” said James Zou, PhD, an associate professor of biomedical data science and co-senior author on the study. “We hypothesised that there are a lot of potential molecules out there that could be effective drugs, but we haven’t made or tested them yet. That’s why we wanted to use AI to design entirely new molecules that have never been seen in nature.”

Researchers had taken different computational approaches to antibiotic development before the advent of generative AI, the same type of artificial intelligence technology that underlies large language models like ChatGPT. They used algorithms to scroll through existing drug libraries, identifying those compounds most likely to act against a given pathogen. This technique, which sifted through 100 million known compounds, yielded results but just scratched the surface in finding all the chemical compounds that could have antibacterial properties.

“Chemical space is gigantic,” said Kyle Swanson, a Stanford computational science doctoral student and co-lead author on the study. “People have estimated that there are close to 1060 possible drug-like molecules. So, 100 million is nowhere close to covering that entire space.”

Hallucinating for drug development

Generative AI’s tendency to “hallucinate,” or make up responses out of whole cloth, could be a boon when it comes to drug discovery, but previous attempts to generate new drugs with this kind of AI resulted in compounds that would be impossible to make in the real world, Swanson said. The researchers needed to put guardrails around SyntheMol’s activity — namely, to ensure that any molecules the model dreamed up could be synthesized in a lab.

“We’ve approached this problem by trying to bridge that gap between computational work and wet lab validation,” Swanson said.

The model was trained to construct potential drugs using a library of more than 130,000 molecular building blocks and a set of validated chemical reactions. It generated the final compound and the steps it took with those building blocks, giving the researchers a set of recipes to produce the drugs.

The researchers also trained the model on existing data of different chemicals’ antibacterial activity against A. baumannii. With these guidelines and its building block starting set, SyntheMol generated around 25,000 possible antibiotics and the recipes to make them in less than nine hours. To prevent the bacteria from quickly developing resistance to the new compounds, researchers then filtered the generated compounds to only those that were dissimilar from existing compounds.

“Now we have not just entirely new molecules but also explicit instructions for how to make those molecules,” Zou said.

A new chemical space

The researchers chose the 70 compounds with the highest potential to kill the bacterium and worked with the Ukrainian chemical company Enamine to synthesize them. The company was able to efficiently generate 58 of these compounds, six of which killed a resistant strain of A. baumannii when researchers tested them in the lab. These new compounds also showed antibacterial activity against other kinds of infectious bacteria prone to antibiotic resistance, including E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and MRSA.

The scientists were able to further test two of the six compounds for toxicity in mice, as the other four didn’t dissolve in water. The two they tested seemed safe; the next step is to test the drugs in mice infected with A. baumannii to see if they work in a living body, Zou said.

The six compounds are vastly different from each other and from existing antibiotics. The researchers don’t know how their antibacterial properties work at the molecular level, but exploring those details could yield general principles relevant to other antibiotic development.

“This AI is really designing and teaching us about this entirely new part of the chemical space that humans just haven’t explored before,” Zou said.

Zou and Swanson are also refining SyntheMol and broadening its reach. They’re collaborating with other research groups to use the model for drug discovery for heart disease and to create new fluorescent molecules for laboratory research.
