Heyy! I'm curious about your musical career, so here are a couple of questions if you don't mind:
Do you play any instruments other than drums?? And do you play in a band or you sing too and are a solo??
that's kind of you, thanks! and sorry for the slow reply! this got buried in my drafts.
i'm an orchestral percussionist. fave instrument is timpani, hence the avatar. i play all percussion instruments you'd find in orchestra or wind ensemble, big and small, and i also play drum set of course and have taken tabla lessons but don't consider myself a tabla player.
i'm a music teacher, and coming with that territory is the ability to play "every" instrument just a little bit. by every i mean, standard instruments you'd find in an elementary school classroom or in a high school band. so i also play piano, acoustic guitar, flute, clarinet, trumpet, baritone, trombone, violin, and cello. i do NOT consider my strings skills to be worth anything at all, i can just play the instruments well enough to teach a kid how from scratch. i'm better at brass than woodwinds.
basically i'm better than a 10 year old and better than most middle schoolers at all the things except strings, strings i consider myself a beginner. but there's a lot to be said for having the ability to understand all the instruments, how they work... that knowledge helps a lot so often times beginner-level doesn't appear to be beginner... oh yeah i guess i can play recorder and ukulele too. i can repair all these instruments and more if i needed to. ah and i'm a decent piano and guitar player i guess. can perform on those, but i'm very definitely a percussionist.
as to singing, i didn't really start singing until i started teaching. i get lots of compliments so i guess i'm good at it. i could definitely benefit from some professional training and not the one beginning voice class i had in college, lol.
i don't perform vocally... i sing for work, that's about it. and whatever you see me messing around with here on tumblr, which is just recording into my phone lol. i tend to only perform with orchestras and wind ensembles playing percussion, but for work again i've had to play all of the things in front of people. i've been on concert tour in england with a professional wind ensemble, that was fun.
this was very rambly aahhh i hope i answered your question! thank you very much for the interest!

I wonder if episode 3x08 was hinting that if one does not know how to look out for hints of queerness they might end up falling flat on their face x)
"Hansel and Gretel hit the ice for their bread crump shtick and boom, bloodbath on the ice."
"What Is Breadcrumbing?
Breadcrumbing is the act of sending out flirtatious, but non-committal social signals (i.e. "breadcrumbs") in order to lure a romantic partner in without expending much effort. In other words, it's leading someone on."
So Hansel and Gretel hit the ice to do their gimmick - a performance which is meant to lead someone on... And boom, an unexpected bloodbath.
The way that Hen accidentally hands over a laryngoscope (the instrument used for examining the voice box)... Like they're saying "pay attention to what's being said". Eddie finds a pinky finger (gayyy) on the ice, Buck finds a middle finger (a message to the unexpecting audience, maybe?), Hansel blurts out that he broke up with Gretel because she wasn't leaving...
Then Bobby talks with the witch - bear in mind that "snowy owl" is also slang and basically means a counterfeit, a deception.
And 'everyone went toe pick' means unexpected face planting - Figure skaters need toe picks but beginners stumble and fall because of them. "Toe pick!" is also a movie reference, it's from Cutting Edge in which Kate, a professional figure skater keeps taunting Doug, a hockey player, who keeps falling because he isn't used to toe picks.
So here:
Tumblr media
Kinda sounds like "one of the con artists went all in and everyone fell for it."
But Bobby, as it turns out, is no amateur, he used to figure skate and the toe picking instantly makes him think of sequins...
Tumblr media
Bobby knows what to look for, the thing that stops you in your tracks.
Where does this keen eye for sequins come from, the team wonders...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Also might I point out the music choice... It's Paganini, the composer who was known for his incredible virtuosity with both violin AND guitar. He was such an incredible virtuoso with the violin what rumour said he'd sold his soul to the devil. The queer subtext of delivering the line 'who says you can't do both?' to the notes of a known deviant such as Paganini? Strong.
Tumblr media
(Notice where Chimney is pointing...?)
Tumblr media
Also Hen's expressions while she's looking at Buck and Eddie...
🤔 Who says you can't do both.
(Oh, also the way the witch is green like in Wizard of Oz, and Hansel "has no heart" much like Tinman... Are you perhaps saying that we're not in Kansas anymore?)
And hey, the name of the episode was Malfunction.
"A wardrobe malfunction is a clothing failure that accidentally or intentionally exposes a person's intimate parts."
So they've exposed something intimate, there's a sequin on the ice... Too bad for the ones who can't see it. Might end up faceplanting real hard.

Guitar Showcase
#2 : Melodic child labour Stratocaster
Tumblr media
This actual piece of shit was the first guitar I bought and learnt on. Bought on Ebay for 150 big ones, this shitocaster is constructed with the finest wood whoever made it could find in landfill.
Boasting a generous 1 single coil pickup, this strat is best suited for players who are deaf. I'm not even joking there's actually 1 pickup, the other 2 are just kinda there, no wires or magnets or anything they were just thrown in there.
Honestly despite the shit sound, the tuning stability is great and it'll stay in tune longer than a lot of branded guitars I've seen, and It still holds a place in my heart for being the first guitar I learnt on.
Here's me playing the main riff to And Justice for All... (Title track) By Metallica. This song was my favourite at the time when I was using this, and still is pretty high up there). My only real complaint is that the palm muting is more off than bread that's been left out in the sun for a week because of the incredibly dodgy floating bridge, but beginner me thought the whammy bar was "super cool" and "totally worth it". It was
Honestly, It was a good beginner guitar but I outgrew it pretty quick. I still think it was really shittly built and we should find who constructed this and give them a spot in the gibson custom shop immediately

Bill Monroe challenges Mcgucket to a dueling banjo session. Who wins?
XD Here goes an unnecessarily detailed answer, as one might expect from me.
Father of Bluegrass Bill Monroe (1911-1996) was a virtuosic mandolinist (also no slouch on guitar) who incorporated fiddling influences into his playing. Rather than an old-style shimmering tremelo, Bill Monroe attacked the strings in an impressive combination of rhythmic adroitness and dogged melody. His playing had rhythmic quirks bluegrass mandolinists tease on today, but I think it augments rather than detracts from his iconic sound.
Historically speaking, Monroe stepped the game up for virtuosity in American country music. Even when he was in his twenties, performing duos and trios with his brothers on the radio in a more old-time style, his technical alacrity caught attention. Monroe fashioned bluegrass with blues and even jazz influences, such as the idea of instrumentalists taking turns doing technical instrumental breaks, one after the other. Thus, not only did he have to be at a high standard, but he pushed everyone in his band to match it. This man regularly performed hundreds of songs at a whim with good ear and improv ability.
Now, Fidds, my beloved... how does he compare? We hear relatively little of Fiddleford McGucket's banjo picking in Gravity Falls. What information we could glean is contradictory due to animation and sound design inaccuracy. I apologize for upcoming jargon, but I'll explain. ;)
McGucket owns multiple banjos. All banjos he's owned lack planetary tuners, which tends to indicate a low-cost banjo beginners and non-serious players use. However, given as McGucket has dedicatedly played banjo since at least the 1970s, and is dedicated enough to own a collection, this suggests a more invested player. (Of course, you can play for years and be passionate and still suck, but there's a higher chance you're good, hah!) Looking at the meta context, the animators would have no idea they were connotating lower-end instruments, so let's go with writing intent: McGucket is the banjo guy playing with love and passion for decades.
McGucket is most often seen with open-backs, but also has had a Seeger (long-neck) banjo and a resonator. Open-back and Seeger banjos suggest McGucket plays in the old-time style, which is (often) based on repeated rhythms and chords. That we've never seen Fiddleford McGucket wear finger picks also matches old-time. Now, I love old-time, it's gorgeous. But. Old-time banjo doesn't... shred... so in a dueling session, this would be trumped by Monroe's more advanced approach.
On the other hand, McGucket has a resonator. Resonator banjos can and have been used for old-time styles, but in general: if you have a resonator, you're a three-finger style bluegrass picker. This is a very different technique than old-time and will start to put McGucket in the competition. It's also said in Journal 3 he loves listening to high-intensity bluegrass, and when we hear sound clips of McGucket playing, it's in the three-finger bluegrass style. They animate him wrong to be making those sounds, but those are the sounds they're evoking. So, given animation is always inaccurate depicting instruments and performance, bluegrass is the genre associated most directly with McGucket, the animators and maybe even composer might've had no knowledge of old-time and its sounds, and the soundtrack always evokes bluegrass-style banjo... the Gravity Falls team probably wanted to indicate McGucket played bluegrass-style banjo.
I'm not on a computer with speakers to listen to McGucket playing, but I distinctly remember A Tale of Two Stans. I can and have played that riff. I'll transcribe (more or less) it by memory rn.
Tumblr media
McGucket is approximately playing the first few measures of Foggy Mountain Breakdown with the barcodes pulled off. He starts with the Foggy Mountain roll on a G chord, then descends to do a forward roll on an e minor chord. Without jargon, this means he's playing two very simple right hand patterns. These patterns are ones a baby banjo picker would learn in their first month playing.
And that's exactly what happened when you know how the soundtrack developed! Gravity Falls' composer learned some banjo for GF. He's doing what I would... learn baby-baby basics so you can record an instrument live. But this means that, because he learned juuuust enough to get the banjo sound in GF (S1 banjo sounds worse than S2 because of this learning curve, too), he can't depict McGucket as a skilled picker. He does an impressive job with the above measures given his inexperience (the tone is better than I'd expect), but the material itself is rudimentary.
Contrast this with Bill Monroe in one of his beloved instrumentals, Southern Flavor (he is the mandolinist who starts the song, first soloist):
youtube
Given what Gravity Falls put in the show, McGucket wouldn't stand a chance against Monroe. McGucket wouldn't get hired by Monroe. Obviously we have to do legwork to go beyond imperfect depictions - the limited knowledge and playing ability of animators and composer - so it's very fair to say McGucket is better than anything presented. But, even then, he's got zero shot competing against a professional who expanded virtuosity of a music style and forced musicians around him to get up to his level. Bluegrass had come into its own and many, many, many amateur players were playing breathtakingly by the 1960s and 1970s. But you ain't gonna beat the master who got 'em all there.

I am a beginner guitar player and IMAGINE JOONAS AND OLLI AS GUITAR TEACHERS. Here are my headcanons:
Joonas: I think he is a self-taught kind and doesn't know much about music theory. He would teach you how to play your favourite rock and metal songs, and I AM SURE he would often talk off-topic on lessons!! The atmosphere of lessons with him would be so homelike, fun, comfortable and you would feel at ease with him and learn very fast.
Olli: I think he on contrary knows music theory and stuff. I AM SURE he loves classic romantic instrumental music, etudes! He is also more disciplined because it is important if you wanna be a professional musician.? he would correct you very appropriately and tactfully, so you would also learn very quickly
IF THEY TWO WOULD TEACH YOU TOGETHER OR ALTERNATLY IT WOULD BE A HEAVEN OF ANY GUITARIST STUDENT NGNHHNGHHNGH
as someone who used to take bass lessons this is doing things to me 😳😳😳 first of all i love the contrast, i'd take lessons from both right away!!
although im also pretty sure i wouldn't be able to learn shit lol, i mean imagine olli showing you how to pluck the strings with his index and middle fingers (like finger me immediately), correcting your posture/the way you hold the instrument (just hold me while you're at it), straight up taking your fretting hand to guide it over the strings (FUCK ME RIGHT NOW)... i'm sorry but for me that's sex

😓 DOWNCAST FACE WITH SWEAT — is your oc open-minded or stubborn? are they inquisitive or do they prefer to keep to their bubble of knowledge?
BLUE OMG THANK YOU !! YOU SENT SO MANY ILYSM 💕💕 This is gonna be a mixed bag of oc responses, tried to limit it to one oc per question!
🚗 CAR — does your oc have a driver's license? can they drive/operate any automobiles/machinery besides cars?
Surprisingly, the only oc of mine to not know how to drive is Hunter. With how he grew up, it just wasn't necessary for him to learn! The rest of them aren't licensed in any other machinery. Though in my heart Emil is forklift certified
✈️ AIRPLANE — does your oc like traveling, or do they consider themselves a more homey person?
June is a homebody to the fullest extent of the word. Living in a town full of tourist traps, she gets turned off from advertisements telling her to go to similar locations.
🎮 VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER — what are three of your oc's favorite hobbies?
Carolyn's favorite hobbies include: Fishing, gardening, and writing poetry! She's a lot more shy about her writing compared to her other hobbies though!
🖊️ BALLPOINT PEN — does your oc have any tattoos? do they want any (more) tattoos?
Emil has had a couple of tattoos done! One is a small stick n poke from his teens, a very cliche broken heart on his left wrist. The other one was actually done in a tattoo parlor; a green 1-up mushroom from the Mario franchise on the right side of his chest
📚 BOOKS — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (GED, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)?
Whereas Maggie and Hunter couldn't finish college, Carolyn and June are the ones with degrees.
Carolyn has a bachelor's degree in fine arts and June has a DNP, which is a doctorate that would allow her to practice nursing!
🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)?
When Maggie was younger, she used to play the acoustic guitar as a hobby. Very intermediate player. Though as she grew up, she eventually stopped practicing and abandoned the instrument altogether. If she went up to the attic to retrieve it, she could probably only play a scale and that's it.
🎶 MUSICAL NOTES — what type of music does your oc like? do they listen to music very often?
I actually have a post going deep into this for the majority of my ocs!! [Link here]
But since she's not in that post, June's favorite bands include Fleetwood Mac and Florence and the Machine!! I can totally see her loving a more alternative pop-rocky sound.
💯 HUNDRED POINTS SYMBOL — share three random facts about your oc that others may not know.
Carolyn is scared of heights, loves sci-fi movies, and she's a vegetarian!
🔱 TRIDENT EMBLEM — can your oc swim? do they enjoy swimming?
No brainer, but Hunter adores swimming. He played in competitively throughout highschool and college!
🔺 RED TRIANGLE POINTED UP — does your oc know how to use any weapons?
Oh just about all of them know how to use a weapon (with the exception of Carolyn. She's more of a pepper spray and run kind of girl). Though if we want any specifics on their preferred weapon: Maggie has a baseball bat, Emil uses his grandfather's pocket knife, Hunter uses a pair of scissors, and June keeps a shotgun and an axe in her home.
🚫 PROHIBITED — does your oc drink/smoke? do they do it regularly, or is it more on occasion or for special events?
Maggie has been a chainsmoker since she was 13/14. A bad habit her mother instilled in her. Although she's loosened up over the years, she tends to have a cigarette when she's feeling nervous.
😖 CONFOUNDED FACE — is your oc an introvert, an extrovert, or an ambivert? do they let people in easily, or are they more reserved?
Carolyn, Emil, June: Introverts
Maggie: Ambivert
Hunter: Extrovert
🤔 THINKING FACE — what are some of your oc's quirks/mannerisms?
Emil has his hands in his pockets at all times. Loves to fiddle and play with the loose change in his pockets, sometimes when he's bored he likes to fidget with his pocket knife.
😥 SAD BUT RELIEVED FACE — is your oc prone to getting stressed out, or is it easy for them to keep their cool?
Oh June and Maggie can be the worst when dealing with stress. Magnolia tends to just break down and cry, where June is explosive and snappy at times.
😓 DOWNCAST FACE WITH SWEAT — is your oc open-minded or stubborn? are they inquisitive or do they prefer to keep to their bubble of knowledge?
Oh a trait all of my ocs tend to share is how stubborn they can all be! Though I gotta say, Emil is the worst case.

It occurred to me I can post the rambling notes at the end of each fanfic chapter here on Tumblr and just link to the post so that I don't overfill the whole AO3 end notes box. And then I can be EVEN MORE RAMBLING if I want to be, without feeling stressed about it! *lets ADHD brain off the leash*
...anyway, um. I contained myself to a sentence or two with chapters 1 and 2, but it started getting out of control with chapter 3.
Notes for A Matter of Duty - Chapter 3: May have overestimated myself
Someday I will end a chapter on a positive note, but today is not that day. Tomorrow isn't looking so good either. It'll get better eventually, I promise a happy (ish?) ending and some comfort for all the hurt, it's just... going to get a lot worse before we get there.
My Google search history is a ride right now. This fic is spurring the strangest research. Have a sampling of the more interesting stuff for this chapter:
Ichigenkin: A video of someone playing the single-string zither that Ayato prefers.
Koto: The most *delightful* video of a koto master teaching a very enthusiastic, nerdy guitar player about the koto and how to play it. Their joy is infectious.
MA - The Japanese concept of space and time: A beautiful reflection on ma.
The history of lube: Genshin has elemental oils and they're too easy to incorporate into porn, but I found this fascinating. The equivalent period in Japan (Edo period / Tokugawa Shogunate) would have used tororo-jiru, a substance made from grated and mashed yams. Or clove oil (...I feel like that would burn? Mixed with camellia oil, it's traditional for lubricating Samurai swords and knives from tarnish and rust, so maybe the camellia oil makes it less, uh. Burning?). Before that, they used carrageenan from seaweed (also in China).
Japanese sex toys as portrayed in ancient Shunga: NSFW Edo-period graphic texts about sex toys in Edo period Japan. It's fascinating. I can't find any evidence of butt plugs in that period of Japan but they had them in Han dynasty China, and I'm sure Fontaine has had something like that for ages, so we're going with it for the sake of convenience.
A Beginner's Guide to Bottoming During Sex: I had an entirely different plan for this chapter, but then I learned it can take up to 3-6 weeks of consistent dilating practice to be comfortably ready to have anal sex. Plenty of people get there much faster, obviously, and Thoma probably won't take that long. But not being able to jump right to anal sex immediately made for better story anyway, and the fact that pushing too fast can injure you opened up story potential such as, well... what happened in the above scene.
At the beginning of the chapter, Ayato is practicing mindfulness meditation, and he's labeling thoughts that he notices before returning his attention to the object of focus (his breath). Specifically, he's practicing Ānāpānasati, because that's the kind of meditation I was trained in and know intimately (thanks, hippie Tibetan Buddhist-founded graduate counseling program), so it's easier for me to write about. Historically speaking, he'd probably be more likely to practice the Japanese Zazen meditation, or maybe a Zen version of anapana, but I'm unfamiliar with how it shows up in Zen; the version I wrote is probably closer to anapana in the Theravadan (common to south and southeast Asia) or Tibetan traditions.
Fanfic summary, warnings, and link beneath the cut before you decide whether or not you want to read it.
A Matter of Duty
"Back then, I had no choice but to accept the position I was in. While I desperately looked around for powerful supporters, I endured smear campaigns and attempts to exploit me. I had no other choice... I didn't mind what became of me, but my family... No one can ever be allowed to trample over my precious family."
How Ayato secured powerful supporters, endured exploitation, and weathered the storm of the years following the death of his parents... and how Thoma helped him contend with a bunch of self-serving, degenerate public officials.
And how, after much stilted fumbling and well-intended sacrifice, they learned the truth of one another's hearts.
Note: Mind the tags. More specific content warnings will be given at the beginning of each chapter, and the story tags will be updated as needed. All characters involved in any sex scenes are adults.
Rating: Explicit. It's porn with plot. Porn as a vehicle for plot, or plot as a vehicle for porn, you can interpret it either way. (I prefer: porn and plot as a vehicle for ~feels~)
Tags that I'm not actually turning into tags here, but it gives you an idea of what you're in for: Kamisato Ayato/Thoma (Genshin Impact), dubious consent but not between Ayato and Thoma, slow burn, sex ed, first time, self-sacrifice, humiliation, exhibitionism, oral sex, anal sex, bdsm, bad bdsm etiquette, rough sex, breath play, impact play, bondage, service kink, abuse, sadism, codependency, shame, guilt, jealousy, possessiveness, trauma, ptsd, dissociation, political sex work, or sex work for political maneuvering, or political survival sex work if that’s a thing, exploitation, blackmail, political machinations, political intrigue, no aftercare, maybe someday some aftercare, hurt/comfort, mostly hurt for a long time but eventually comfort, oblivious disaster gays, for such socially savvy people they are terrible at personal relationships, dominant Ayato, submissive Thoma, top Ayato, bottom Thoma, Ayato is incredibly parentified, Thoma has no sense of self-preservation, self-sacrifice isn't a contest but don't tell Ayato and Thoma that, it's like the snipe-the-check game at restaurants but with sex and politics, Kushiel's Impact, no really this was in my drafts for the longest time as Kusheline Thomato Fic, everyone's an adult in this timeline except Ayaka, she gets protected at all costs, original characters out of necessity, finding appropriate existing Inazuma npcs for some of these roles was impossible, no beta we die like ayato's parents
Full fic: A Matter of Duty on Archive Of Our Own
Chapter 3: May have overestimated myself: Ayato helps Thoma prepare for a meeting with a Kanjou Commission official. It doesn't go well.
Chapter 3 contains: sex education, first time anal play, anal fingering, unspoken D/s dynamics, teasing (verbal and sexual), sensation play, sex toys (butt plugs), oral sex, poor communication, guilt/shame, hints/allusions to past sexual trauma, crossing one's own boundaries / pushing oneself too far to try to please the other person (it's not really self-harm but it's possibly something in the neighborhood), feelings of betrayal and rejection

hi lovely!! idk if i’m remembering wrong and if I recall correctly, you used to be a sax player (and in that case, hi from a fellow sax player!!) but i wanted to get your thoughts on this: seb the trombone player
omg sorry i missed this i've been like Not On F1blr :crylaugh: but yesss hello fellow sax player!!
re: seb playing trombone/an instrument in general, bc i'm vaguely aware that's been a thing just hearing about seblr thru the grapevine.. it's a no from me! i'm not a band kid truther. reasons why below the cut ehehe
TL;DR: he may have been a flutist (doubtful but no real evidence otherwise) or a percussionist if he was a concert band kid, also zero evidence on whether he can play violin/strings or piano, but i'm skeptical about his woodwind and brass skills. absolutely happy to be proven wrong tho
prefacing this w saying i main piano and don't play a lot of these instruments but i've also been playing in bands for 10 yrs now so i've osmosis-ed a bit
[figure 1 - woodwinds] absolutely CANNOT hold a sax, so that's sax, clarinet, oboe, and other similarly held instruments out the window. embarrassing bc nico is closer to holding it correctly. palm keys mean palm on the keys 😭 i will say flute is still on the table bc it's just so wildly different in terms of embouchure n how u hold it, but as a flutist i doubt it bc the fingerings are scarily similar between the two instruments lol
Tumblr media
[figures 2 & 3 - brass] see like this is so compelling to me bc if the audio is right then he's growling and that is NOT. something a beginner trumpet player should be able to do. like that is not the sound a trumpet makes naturally when u just start out and when u buzz. so EITHER it's post-prod audio dubbing with the actual trumpeter (most likely case if we look at the other ferrari fun vids in this time) OR in the span of the video production itself, seb learned not only how to buzz but how to growl, OR he already knew. but looking at the visual evidence, he is... rlly tense/stiff here. compare to like a real trumpet player, and unless he's playing 8 ledger lines above the staff or doing insane shit like this, i think most realistically he's just making spitting sounds or occasionally honking out some of the c harmonics series. but ahhh ling ling insurance i don't play trumpet i am only friends with trumpet players etc etc
and for the french horn--i mean. canskjfdfsnk a) that's like the textbook definition of how to not hold it b) embouchure isn't right c) he looks like he's going to break his neck 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[figures 4 & 5 - percussion] from my limited knowledge im like 67% sure that he's at least holding the drum sticks correctly, though his pointer fingers poking out are a liiiiil sus. it'd be slightly more convincing if there wasn't also footage of him not rlly doing anything creative w/ them. actually the 2015 one isn't too bad watching it again lol. i will however say that the way he shakes the tambourine between hitting w/ the heel of his palm is indicative of either someone who has seen someone play tambourine or someone who has played the tambourine, bc an absolute noob would just hold it and smack it with their palm
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[figure 5 - plucked strings] if he played guitar on the regular like this he'd injure himself. also like, video footage of him being awful at it. and judging by the way he tries to strum i don't think he's a secret bass player either, rip sebastian fucking vettel
Tumblr media
anyway in conclusion: jury's out on whether he can play flute or piano or string instruments, and percussion might be a stretch but. unless otherwise proven they're definitely possible.

Smooth Operator
Inspired by Sade's Song- Smooth Operator- https://youtu.be/4TYv2PhG89A
Diamond chandeliers, ruby lights, a Friday started right. Smooth Jazz night, saxophones playing and tranquilizing the club's atmosphere, bongo’s tapping at a slow rhythmic pace.
He was definitely here.
Jazz was always his favorite.
The man of her dreams and nightmares, a man who can make hearts beat or break.
How young and naive she was when he melted her heart.
“Sir, I'm glad you could make it.” a waitress swayed her hips seductively at the gangster who entered the club. All eyes laid on the well dressed man in a black suit and red velvet tie, followed by two black suited men.
“It’s good to be here darlin’.” his New-yorken flowed deeply like a strong material of silk.
It still made her spine shiver, like the times he would whisper sweet nothings in her ear.
He stood out like a sore thumb, but the female with piercing blue eyes stood out like a diamond in the rough, her arm wrapped around his.
Her heart hammers hard in her chest, she can’t help but fall in love with him, and all of the memories resurface. The pain she was feeling wasn’t just heartbreak, it was longing to be held in his arms once more.
Her partner who would be playing the saxophone walked up to her.
“You look really nice tonight, stunning wouldn’t even begin to describe it.”
He looks at her face to see her discomfort expression.
“Hey Teddy, are you alright.” the nickname slips from his lips with soft concern.
“I can’t do this, I- ju-st can’t”
He looks at her then to the man in the crowd, her ex lover.
He looks back at her pained expression of heartache, he caresses her cheek gently and looks at her with kind eyes.
“Listen Teddy we have to give it our all, this is our first real show” he grabs her face softly to make her stare at him. “I understand your feeling this pain but the crew and I are giving it our all and we need you Teddy.”
Her glossy eyes focused onto his, reflecting the sadness in her heart.
“But how can I when he’s out there watching me.” she tries to hold in the tears from ruining her make-up.
“Then let him watch and let him see what he’s missed out on” her eyes go wide at the me’re statement “you're better than him in every way so don’t let him define or instill fear into you, just sing your heart out.”
He kissed the top of her forehead and left her to think about his words. Loud applause echoed in the club as the present band left the stage.
“I'm so glad that everyones enjoying the show, but the night is not over yet”
Her stomach turns like a washing machine in high spin mode, as she waits for the sound of her band's name.
“Give it up for their first show”
She calms her breathing and walks up on the stage, where her band looks at her with widened eyes of amazement.
“For Teddy and The Suaves!”
The ruby lights hit her vision and she looks at her sax player and nods with the utmost confidence.

Her silky voice soothes the air in the club, and romanticizes the dance floor with slow dances.

Her eyes lock on everyone in the crowd, other than him. She kept swaying her hips to the music and focused her mind on the lyrics. But unbeknownst to her, he was watching her body sway to the bongo’s. For some reason he was finding himself wondering what she meant by smooth operator and who. He chuckles to himself.

~Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western maaale~
~Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for saale~
The gangster chuckles to himself and his lady looks at him curiously.
“Honey, are you okay?”
He doesn’t turn to face his lady, but keeps his eyes on the female singer.
“Neva’ better.” he bites his lip seductively
“Teddy, you're still thinking about me aren't ya.”
Smooth operator
She sings the two words repeatedly like a soft chant, her eyelashes slowly flutter like a butterfly's wings. Her eyes are no longer on the gangster she once loved but now on the sax’s players. She sings the word with a longing sadness, but she smiles knowing that she is going to be alright.
~Smoooth Operaator~
The song ends and the crowd erupts in cheers, whistles and claps. The singer had forgotten about the crowd and was a little shocked.
“Thank you- um I couldn’t have done it without my crew” she gestures to them to come to her and they all hold each other's hands. She and her band all bow simultaneously, then come up to face the crowd once again.
The sax’s player then takes her other hand and pulls her unto him. He places a small kiss on her forehead and says “You did a great job Teddy.”
Sparkles lit up in her heart when he said, “You did amazing as always.” without thinking she places a kiss on his lips making the audience whistles louder.
I know I will be okay.

Completely off topic but…
I want a Byler College AU where Will is a hunt seat horse boy/baseball player and Mike is taking a Western Wellness riding class because “screw it, I need a quarter credit to graduate”.
Mike is the playing his guitar/being a musician, and doing physics homework at 2 am because he couldn’t sleep kind of person. He’s the “I’m going to play my guitar because it’s 4 am and I have insomnia”, up at 8 am barely 15 minutes before he needs to rush out the door for a 9 am class, doesn’t grab breakfast, his friends always ask if he’s eaten, and is somehow running off of monster energy drinks and has yet to have a caffeine & sugar crash, probably studied for hours for the exam and didn’t need to because he’s always miraculously getting good grades person. The “I’ll just add an English major on because I’ve already taken 3 classes of literature already” and “always hiding out in the theatre department” person.
Will is the up at 4 am because I have to workout, get to the barn by 6 am, grab a granola bar and a coffee for breakfast, go ride my danger bicycle with a brain over some 4-5 ft jumps, then go to class, maybe squeeze lunch in, go to baseball practice by 4 pm, grab dinner, then go back to the barn at 7:30 pm to ride some more. Then he has a meeting once a week at 9 pm for his fraternity, and then, maybe he stays up until 11 pm doing history homework, portfolio work, and painting in the art dept. building before leaving and going to bed at 11:30 pm person. He’s the “I’m going to the barn. Be back in an hour” *takes 4 hours instead of 1 hour* person, he meticulously cares for his horse and refuses to have anything less than the best for the one animal he’s loved more than any other person, since he was 12. He’s the “Look! I found a barn cat!” *proceeds to stay cuddling with the barn cat for an hour* person. And he’s always willing to help out anyone he knows is new at the barn.
Mike is tacking up for a lesson and isn’t quite getting it. Will is in the other wash rack with his 17-18 hand bay gelding (bc he’d be a bay kind of person), and he stops to help.
Will: “Do you need help saddling?”
Mike: “Oh, yeah. Well, kind of.” *awkwardly fiddling with saddle pad & saddle*
Will: “Here,” *grooms horse, tacks Mike’s horse up & bridles it* “Monica’s a good horse, she’ll take care of you. I’m a bit surprised she’s being used for a beginner lesson, it’s a little daunting to ride 16 hands at first,”
Mike: *stammering in his confusion bc he finds Will attractive* “Why would I be riding 16 hands?”
Will: “oh, no. I uh, I meant Monica,” *rubs horse’s neck* “she’s 16 hands tall. It’s how we measure the height of a horse.”
*ducks his head sheepishly* “Sorry, I sometimes forget not everyone has been around these guys for half their life,”
———
El is a western riding queen and she and her brother constantly get into bickering arguments after practice.
Chrissy is a hunt seat rider that dragged Will into it after learning he had been taking lessons prior to college.
Mike is asked to join the Western team, so now every other weekend, he has to go to shows and watch as his crush - with very nice riding form- absolutely kills it in the arena.
Max is a supportive best friend and just likes to show up to see El absolutely killing it.
Lucas is on the baseball team with Will, and constantly jokes that Will just picked the two sports that make him look good in tight fitting pants.
Mike defending Will’s decision to play baseball and ride horses because his boyfriend looks fantastic in his baseball uniform and in his breeches.
I’m well aware this is a very niche genre of fanfiction, but I just can’t stop thinking about it. And I’m probably going to write it at some point, because Byler as equestrians… and all of the jokes I could make 👀

Why Use Hip Hop Samples And Loops?
A lot of beat producers ask themselves everyday "Which program should Make the most of to make hot beats?" fl studio Activation Code ask around itrrrs internet in watch out for the answer on where they starting to make moves into the record companies. After asking friends and after searching through countless forums for the answer, they just find a way to get mixed feedback . Everyone has their own scene on each product simply because they have been utilizing it for sometime. This is when the answer isn't feasible to get ultimately. Once subject on a beat, you very well may take your creation one step further by adding other elements including a melody and bass sequence. You can lay in a melody on the surface of your beats to give your piece texture. The bass line usually rides under the beat offer the piece a firm foundation. But it's those beats that drive the song, so they really need to square out. Ableton was in fact a loop based sequencer that you could make tunes on the fly. It might has transformed itself perfect into a full-fledged DAW including on-board effects and synths. It's a fantastic for blending loops and "normal inputted" music though. On one other hand, if you are intent on making some serious beats but cannot stand to spend hundreds of dollars along at the tools and process well then your choices might be limited. Ok, i'll start by incorporating of major players inside the sound mixing software profession. Fruity Loops Studio along with some OK sounds however, you I mean if excess to produce some serious bangers. Stimulate your sound game up. Investigate some quality plugins. For a long time am a justification expert I also use Reason (Reason 5 to be exact) like a plugin for things like FL. Pro tools, Sonar X1 for example. Another option you have is downloading a risk-free demo of desktop computer program. I would suggest Fl Studio, which stands for Fruity Loops. This is a solid program, Really feel it is beneficial towards people who make techno or trance music, however, it gets activity done with hip hop as carefully. The only down side to downloading the free demo is that it doesn't mean you can save your beats. I have the full version along with being a real quality program, but I have been at this for years, I imagine a beginner may a more difficult time than me with learning all the features, as they are rather technically dense, but good consistently. The demo version doesn't have all the presets and samples how the XXL version has, yet it will allow you to be tinker around a ounce. Once the patterns have been created, may possibly placed here in the correct sequence generate the tune contest. The playlist area also allows the development of automation stuff. These enable real-time modification within the parameter because volume or panning. Next, fl studio Torrent if you need to check at requirements editor. Is definitely what when possible be using to edit wave files, adding loops, making tempo adjustment, control on track volumes and also of course inbuilt with ample tracks and chords: drums, guitar, piano, brass, loops, combos numerous others.

Satan & Violins
I share a lot of similarities with Satan, even when before they canonized something about him; one of them being violinist!Satan😭 In spite of me having a mini identity crisis following the drop of his canon violinist card, i think it makes sense! heres why.
Disclaimer!
1. I have not picked up an instrument in years
2. This is purely bcuz my brain is so busy thinking abt Satan so its kinda rambly. . Pls bare w me T_T
3. THIS IS LONG IM SO SORRY
4. Not too used to tumblr writing just yet sorry if it's messy
(Uploaded on my twitter aswell :D)
Tumblr media
The violin and its family, unlike other string instruments (ex. the guitar), doesnt have these little things (that i forgor the name of because im a bad musician) that separates every note. those little separating thingies are the reason why people who dont know shit about playing a key on guitar but memorize musical scales (me) is at least able to strum a simple one octave melody.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously, the two come in with their one difficulty (i prefer the violin myself), but it's a little bit harder to pull that trick with the violin. As you can see, theres not exactly something to tell you where each note begins or where they end. Nothing to determine where is where. You simply have to memorize the placement and the distance between each note. You basically play the violin with Your Gut (1). We'll keep this in mind for now.
Moving on, let's talk about body posture.
Beginner violinist usually directlty face towards the strings when playing, as they aren't used to letting their 'gut' lead the show. However, more experienced players would find no need to do so. A quick glance at Satan's art could tell us he was at least above beginner level to be brave enough to face (us) instead.
Tumblr media
When you're not facing your violin, you would usually lean your head towards it, resulting in your ear becoming the closest thing to it- here's a real life example:
Tumblr media
Now, if there was anything my teacher warned me before starting violin, is that even without having your ear be the closest thing to it, the strings are already LOUD😭 so its even louder when you alr have ur ear on it. The violin is considered one of the most emotional instruments ever, their lower sound resemble what we use to express sadness in speech. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, you as a player are forced to feel what you're playing. Thus is also why you play the violin with Your Heart (2).
So, how does this tie into Satan? It's no secret that our handsome man is incredibly romantic, and to me if he ever wants to express something to us and making sure the message is clearly received, the equally emotional violin is his best bet! The violin allows Satan to play heartwrenching notes that would quickly be felt by the listener.
Lets get technical.
There's still another side of the violin, as there is another side to Satan. The way you stroke your bow matters, the way you angle it so you'll only hit the notes you want. (thankfully if you mess up, the violin is made to still sound graceful😂). Satan too, is quite the detail oriented person. He is tactical, analytical, observant, a man obsessed with striving to be the perfect one, etc etc. The need of preciseness of the violin is definitely right up his alley. The way you need everything to be correct to be rewarded for a beautiful sound. Idk exactly where I'm going with this but it's basically intelligence meets emotion kinda thing, do you see it too?!?!
Tumblr media
In conclusion, the violin is a wonderful instrument that both requires great attention to detail yet is also incredibly emotional and heartfelt, an instrument that requires your gut and heart guide your play without abandoning technique. Satan, the incredibly smart yet fluffy softie, is quite literally made for this and I LOVE HIM for that RAAAAAAHHHH. im normal.
THATS IT RLLY im soooo sorry if it's incredibly messy please have a sugarry picture <3 ily
