I could not help myself and this literally came out in five minutes? It is obviously not finished yet, but I had to share it with my Bathena nation <3 I do have to high light: this is my first take on writing this ship. I still have to figure some things out.

So far there had been three times in life that Athena had truly, truly felt conflicted with everything that she was feeling. The first time had been when Emmet died. Someone who she had believed to be her soulmate had been murdered, so it wasn’t strange that she had felt that way. The second time had been when Michael had told her his secret. As a wife, you don’t expect your husband to drop a bomb like that on you. The third time had been when she had arrested the girl who had made her daughter perform a suicide attempt. If it had been up to her, she would have done a hell of a lot more then only take that bitch into custody. The fourth time- “Athena. Athena, I’m going to need you to stop shaking if you want me to put this gown on you.” From the day she had met her second husband, a man she called her soulmate without a single doubt in her mind, Athena had known that both their jobs were not without any risks. He had never held the risks she had to take against her and she didn’t hold the risks of his job against him. The funny side was that their home would always be fire proof and the person who tried to break into their home would truly have a field day, but the What if… The “What if-” had always been nagging at the both of them. He had experienced when she had been beat to a pulp a few years back, and she had experienced it with him on multiple occasions. The kobalt poisoning, getting shot by a sniper, saving her daughter from a dispatch centre that had gone up in flames… She had always told him jokingly that she wasn’t planning yet on becoming a widow. “May refuses to leave. Her hair has been scorched and her arms and legs are covered in first and second degree burns, but she refused to leave him until you were here. Athena Grant-Nash, are you hearing anything of what I’m telling you?” Athena awoke from her slumbering thoughts when her friend Hen grabbed her by the shoulders. “Yeah. I hear you.” “Good. You should. It’s a craze in there so I’ll have to bring you to the burn unit. They only allow direct family in under the circumstances-” “I get that.” “Are you… Okay?” Athena could see in Hen’s eyes that it wasn’t parademic Wilson who was asking her that. “You should not ask me that. Not now.” Henrietta grabbed her arm, and started guiding Athena through the different hallways. The police sergeant would never say it out loud, but she was glad her friend was here to guide her through these halls. She wasn’t sure if she could have managed to get up to the burn unit floor herself. He has saved May from burning. Again. He has saved my baby from burning alive, again. When the elevator doors opened, Athena could hear a familiar yelling. “LET ME GO! I’m not leaving until my mom gets here! You’re not going to pump him full with morfine! He can’t have that! No, you’re not going to take me. NO! Don’t touch me with that needle. Don’t-” Athena saw that it took her daughter a few moments to realize who was standing in front of the room. With her line of work, Athena was pretty talented in compartmentalizing her emotions; right now, she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to feel. She saw her daughter, whose hair had been scorced and whose clothes had obviously been touched by fire, having her hand interlaced with the hand of the man she loved. Athena swallowed. Bobby’s left arm and part of his chest were covered with sterile bandages. The redness and spots in his face didn’t lie- he had been touched by fire.

if buddie happens please do not complain about how the way they get together isn't exactly what you wanted. unless there is something seriously wrong or problematic, just leave it be, at least they get together.

if buddie doesn't happen don't go and harass the actors and crew members of the show. 9-1-1 just got renewed for s8 so i wouldn't be surprised if they drug it out another season. and, as much as i want it canon, we have fanfiction.

if you don't ship buddie don't go and harass fans of the ship or actors and crew members.

One of the things I love about buddie fanfiction is the whole alternate universe thing. How, in any universe, in any timeline, Buck and Eddie (and Chris) always find each other. But not only that. How Maddie and Chimney, Bobby and Athena, and Hen and Karen all find each other as well. And they all WORK. Their love is so strong that it’s there in any universe.

They’re all connected by that red string of fate. To their partners, to their family.

And I really love reading these stories where some of them are firefighters, or none of them are firefighters, or the 118 is a pack of wolves, some of them are vampires or witches or or or. But they still find each other.

And with all of them, but especially with Buck and Eddie, they don’t just find their family. They make it.

Bobby scowled at his wife’s chuckle following the dart completely missing the board. “Aren’t you supposed to be on my side here?”

Athena winked at him over her glass of wine. “I’m always on your side, Captain but I told you I’ve never seen anyone beat her in twelve years of friendship.”

Hen laughed as she handed Bobby two darts. “Try again, Cap.”

Bobby rolled his eyes. “Now you’re just robbing it in, I told you not to go so easy on me.”

Karen shrugged. “It’s kind of hard when you look like a kicked puppy every time you lose.”

Bobby’s eyes widened. “I do not look like a—“

“Just throw the dart, Cap,” said Hen, her eyes sparkling with amusement behind her lenses.

Bobby sighed and tried to concentrate. His next dart was at least on the board but otherwise not very impressive.

Athena gently took the next one. “Here.”

Hen raised her hand. “Wait, Thena, you can’t just-“

Athena hit the bulls eye interrupting Hen’s protest. “I can and I did.”

Bobby chuckled as he bent to kiss Athena’s cheek. “I appreciate the rescue, Sargent.”

Athena nodded and tilted her head up to give him a slightly deeper kiss. She leaned her forehead against his as they parted. “I told you. I’m always on your side.”

bathena killed one of my limbs.

yeah, my dudes, my arm died.

it’s happened before when, at some point, i sat for about eight hours straight writing a story. it happened again just last night and fuck my brain if ao3 didn’t just clock my story at 172,149 words after about 2.5 months of writing. it doesn’t feel at all real because i could have sworn i just started writing this last week.

but i am having so. much. fun.

(the arm is fine. i went to the spa and they fixed me up good.)

and this strike probably won’t end anytime soon. i need bathena in my life and if i can’t have them then i’m fic-ing the fuck outta this whole thing just to get through this drought.

i wrote one chapter and a smutty oneshot i’m holding on to because i’m not sure i should post it. it’s cackling like a demon as it sits in my drafts on ao3. i mean, it was dirty and it’s definitely going to send me straight to hell but i’m not sure i should take anyone else with me. also it might be crap so that’s also something to think about. but it was also fun to write, yeah.

no disrespect to the actors but right now, there’s zero chance that bathena fans are not stuck on the idea that bobby and athena are probably just fucking each other’s brains out during the whole hiatus in a cruise ship somewhere in the middle of the ocean because yeah she gonna fuck that poor gorgeous bastard’s brains out every single time he passes by one of those many, many drinky drink bars. she will kill him with sex before she lets him relapse just for trying to make her happy.

Using this as my tidbit tuesday even though its not a tidbit but 3 paragraphs but I'm channeling my inner Buck and say rules are meant to be broken👉😌👉 (those are meant to be fingerguns why is there not a fingergun emoji)

“Seems clean enough,” Bobby says with a chuckle. “Want to do rock, paper, scissors on who has to dry him off?”

Athena huffs, “He’s only three and already rubbing off on you. I gave him a bath, you dry him off. There are clothes on the counter… that is, if he didn’t grow out of them yet… does he look taller to you?”

Bobby studies Buck. The toddler is slapping at the water and giggling to himself. “Normally he ages when we’re asleep and not during the day. But I won’t pretend to understand the rules of this… curse?” It still feels weird to say. Only a few weeks ago he was still blissfully ignorant of magic actually existing. Now he is questioning everything in the history of the earth.
