the sandra lynn / fig conversation is driving me Insane. fig saying that sometimes she doesn’t wanna exist as herself at all…not wanting to ask her friends how they see her (because she’s afraid to hear their response) saying that to someone she is a monster and she Cannot stop thinking about it. sandra lynn starting the conversation saying she needs to step up but is also simultaneously taken aback about what fig expresses and doesn’t know how to responds to it and suggests getting ice cream. sandra lynn saying “convincing people they deserve good things is really tough” talking about herself but how it also reflects fig. insane!!

There’s something so important about Gillion - who never heals himself, who rushes into danger, who hides his wounds- facing death and realizing he isn’t unafraid as he was raised to be. He uses his magic on himself to help with the exhaustion, to keep his life intact. And still he tries to comfort Jay and Chip while he’s coherent, being realistic about his chances but refusing to make it painful. Wanting their possible last moments to be light, to be about seemingly inconsequential things, small favorites that still mean the world to him purely because they’re Chip and Jay’s favorites. And then when all is said and done, he makes a raccoon for Jay. He talks about raspberries for Chip. He uses his last saved up arcane energy to try desperately to stay awake, and it works, and it saves him in the final hour.
It’s just. There’s something about how he hasn’t had a chance to rest since the Feywild, really, truly rest. How this whole time he’s been down on himself and taking extreme risks. And now, at what might be the end of it all, he realizes he doesn’t want to die. He wants to live. And not to be able to save others, not to fulfill his destiny, not out of obligation to anyone else - but purely for himself. For all the little things. And though it’s not quite healing in the literal term, his nearly final act was spent trying to save himself - and it worked.

simon saying he wants to be become ice king again is so in character it’s agonising. he wore the crown again and again to begin with so he could save a girl, even if it meant the horror of losing himself and driving away every last person he cared about. he spent over a thousand years in that state, practically lost and replaced. almost nobody knew who he used to be, not even him. the new world wasn’t jarring, because this was how it had always been for ice king, for a thousand years, for the forever that he could process. he had his place in the system and he wasn’t *happy*, but he slid into the chaos of ooo as his state of mind deteriorated.
then he’s cognisant again. but the love of his life is dead. and it truly sinks in that even though he is back, the ice king would never give back the time he took from him. the world he knew slipped away while he forgot it, and he’s left as an outsider who can’t even find solace in his own species, one that moved on without him. he has to sit with everything ice king did. everything that took from him. every way that hurt others. every moment of sickening confusion and loss and pain. and those who could never feel the gravity tell him again and again that he was so much cooler and fun back then! that he’s just some lame old guy now, such a downer! always on about some girl, or staring off sadly! who would want to mope with him at a bar rather than party with the ice king, right?
marcaline doesn’t even rely on him anymore. grown and independent now. grown when he wasn’t there to see it. it’s not like anybody else needs him either, and what does he have to give now, anyway? he tries and tries to bring his girlfriend back and every time he’s smacked in the face. he’s so tired. he’s so, so tired. he wouldn’t half mind being the ice king again, because even with the pain of that, at least he wouldn’t be capable of thinking about these things anymore. he would have powers that could help people again. he would be fun and charismatic and free from being cognisant. even better than dying, he could make people happy this way too. two birds with one stone, in his eyes. at least the ice king has a reason to be alive.
it becomes a third bird when fionna *needs* this. it’s not the only plausible solution, but it’s a damn clean one. her problems will be fixed, fixed with the crown the way that simon used to fix every problem all those years ago. the most reliable shortcut. he’ll be free from life, and the world will get their *beloved* ice king back. the events of 1000 years ago can repeat, but this time he’ll never seek a cure.
of course this is a flawed view, and i can’t remotely see this being the endgame for his arc, and it could *never* be portrayed as the right course of action. falling into that old pattern and life would be a monumental act of self harm in an attempt to escape himself, and it would leave marcaline in pieces to see him relapse and lose himself all over again in that last ditch effort. it’s genuinely a simultaneous act of relapse and suicide, and though it’s so clear why he’s reached this point, i do NOT believe this series will end with him re-becoming the ice king. and if it does, it will be a horrifying event, not a happy culmination of his character arc.

All the advertising I saw for Elemental:
Check out this wacky adventure between a fire person and a water person! A Tree Child Flirts with her! LOL! HEY LOOK CLOUD PEOPLE! *cartoon spring and honking noises*
Me: I don’t… want to watch that. Oh well, that’s fine.
Me actually watching it:
Oh wait, it’s a story of an immigrant family who come with nothing and build a community for themselves and their people and the weight of debt you feel to your parents who sacrificed for you to succeed but the way that that success sometimes isn’t what you want and how parental love can feel conditional when there’s a lack of clear communication and—
Me getting to the end: SHE BOWED AND HE BOWED BACK 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💦💧💦💧💦💧💦💧💦🌊🌊🌊🌊🚿🚿🚿

The trailer for the Garbage Dump movie and Furudate's new mini stories from the movie announcement event got me super hyped and I couldn't stop thinking about this, so here's a little one-shot centered on the moments between and after both the Nekoma and Kamomedai matches :)
Summary: While waiting for the quarter finals of Nationals to start, Kuroo tries to mess with Tsukishima, Yamaguchi's brain short circuits, and Tsukishima continues to play it cool.
Words: 5,935
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Tsukishima Kei/Yamaguchi Tadashi
Characters: Yamaguchi Tadashi, Tsukishima Kei, Kuroo Tetsurou, Hinata Shouyou
Additional Tags: Friends to Lovers, Fluff, Canon Compliant, POV Multiple, POV Alternating, Mutual Pining, Volleyball, Haikyuu!! Manga Spoilers, Haikyuu!! Chapter 298 Spoilers, Haikyuu!! Chapter 369 Spoilers, Getting Together, One Shot, Some Swearing
Excerpt:
“Have you noticed how Tsukki seems to only compliment people behind their backs?”
Tadashi chuckled. “Oh, definitely. But I hope you weren’t looking for more compliments from him out of me, Kuroo-san, because to be honest he mostly just talks shit about you,” Tadashi said with a not-so-guilty quirk to his lips.
Kuroo barked out a laugh. “No, no that’s fine, I deserve that—what I was wondering was if you knew what he said about you during the match?”

Ok so it's pretty impressive how Taiju can throw that church bench with one hand but do you think he actually knew he could do it before he tried? Lmao imagine if he tried to pick it up but it was too heavy so he had to immediately put it back down again "hang on, wait a minute let me find something else to throw"

Happy one year anniversary to Misfits! I wanted to post the next chapter to celebrate but it's not done, so you get a couple paragraphs from it instead.
“Don’t want to talk about it!”
He somehow shrank impossibly smaller. “My apologies, shutting up now.”
Emmet took a deep breath. Everything was fine. He was fine.
The candy cane he was holding had snapped. The fairy floss spiders that had been clinging to Ingo had scattered.
“No, you don’t need to be. Shutting up or anything. You can. You can talk. It’s okay.”
Ingo blinked up at him, clearly not sold on the talking thing.
Emmet should do something reassuring.
He stiffly reached over and lightly smacked his hand down on Ingo’s head. He patted the top of his hat a couple times. Tap, tap.
Ingo blinked again and he hesitantly reached up, towards where Emmet’s hand was still resting. Emmet pulled back before he came close.
Hmm. Awkward, weird, and inscrutable. Emmet’s reassuring manner needed some work. “Sorry I yelled at you.”
Ingo’s palm was pressed where Emmet’s hand had been. His brow was furrowed and his mouth was pinched. “…It’s quite alright,” he whispered softly.

the school arc to me is so good because it drags ciel out of his position as a powerful figure and literally places him in the shoes of the person he could have been. the circus arc ALSO drags him out of his position as big bad queens watch dog/head of the phantomhive estate but the school arc feels like a mockery of a future that never was. this is what he could have been had his parents not died. and even then its NOT because he will never be that kid.
he never was.
