The trailer for the Garbage Dump movie and Furudate's new mini stories from the movie announcement event got me super hyped and I couldn't stop thinking about this, so here's a little one-shot centered on the moments between and after both the Nekoma and Kamomedai matches :)

Summary: While waiting for the quarter finals of Nationals to start, Kuroo tries to mess with Tsukishima, Yamaguchi's brain short circuits, and Tsukishima continues to play it cool.

Nothing could be heard through the line except for their soft breathing for a little bit, both boys in their own homes and in their own beds making wishes.

“What’d you wish for, lemon boy?” Tadashi’s voice was more lighthearted and teasing now, his tiredness still peeking through in the way he stifled a yawn.

“For forever with you, Tadashi.”

so i completed my first ever fan binding, everything from start to finish - barring writing the fic myself - and i wanted to share the results!!

the fic is the certain things we lack by @deanpendragon on ao3 (it’s an incredible fic, if you haven’t read it already, you really really really should!!)

if anyone wants to bind their own copy using the typeset i made, i’ve put a fully formatted and print-ready pdf along with some instructions for how to go about fan binding (and links to people who can explain the process better than i can) on my google drive!

This passage from @deanpendragon‘s ‘campfire in your chest’ has been living in my head ever since I read it. The last line punched me in the gut and I’ve been trying to draw it for Months. I really, really hope you like it enough to go and read the fic if you haven’t, because it’s a masterpiece. And then all their other works, because they all are.

Tadashi is hardworking. He loves volleyball, though not to an unnatural Hinata-and-Kageyama extent. He is insecure, but he gains confidence by the day. He would do anything for his friends - for me. He loves to help, even when there's nothing in it for him. He is selfless. He is quiet but is getting louder. He loves videogames; Pokemon is his favorite. Agree with him on that and he could talk for hours. On rare occasions, he ties hair back. Mostly when it's windy outside. He's extremely clumsy in bad weather. He hugs his pillow to his chest in his sleep instead of lying his head on it like a normal person. He has soft hands. Freckles dot not only his face, but his knees, shoulders, and arms. I would do anything to watch him do nothing for hours. I am his favorite.

Soooo I read @thatfanficauthor's oni!tsukishima fic and suddenly had a burst of inspiration out of nowhere.. and wrote fanfiction of their fanfiction. Alas, it was short lived, so I stopped in the middle but I did get this scene in.

Basically, the og fic is about Tsukki being an oni, except they were hunted down a long time ago so now they blend into the human civilization, and if he wears this bracelet then he gets disguised in a human form (but it's uncomfortable to wear it for long), except people keep finding out about him being an oni. My fic is based on the premise (and set before the og fic) but a little darker.

I wanna put it below 'read more' but I'm not sure how the 'read more' works (let's see if this works). So. Here's that scene from canon (the Yamaguchi being bullied scene) but set in the oniverse!

He's walking home from school, steps hasty, when he hears voices from the playground and pauses to look.

A group of kids crowd another who's on the floor, threatening. One of them holds a stick.

"Why's your face so pimply?" One of the kids taunt.

Just bullies. Kei turns away.

"Yeah, and you're so scrawny," another sneers. There's a thump. "You're crying now?"

"Crybaby!"

*Just bullies.*

Kei freezes. He turns slowly. Just bullies, and picking on a kid because what? Because he's pimply? Because he's scrawny?

It dawns on him. Finally, he understands what he's wondered about years ago.

His body *sears*. He's an oni, living under disguise. An *oni*. To be hunted down and killed, to be shunned.

But you don't even need that.

Kei steps closer. The kid being bullied notices him and looks up, tears streaked down his cheeks and welling in his eyes.

There are freckles dotting the kid's face. Just freckles. Plain and harmless. That's all you need to be *different*. All you need to be picked on.

He wonder what they'd do if they see him. Sees his wings, his fangs, his tail. *Kei* is the one who's different, when he's in his house and can stretch out his wings. But these *humans* - they are so desperate to belong that they turn on each other. They are so desperate that they see differences where they don't exist.

*The world is broken.*

He remembers his mother's stories, at least the gist of it. The hunting. The killing. The blood spilled across the land like oil.

Of course they were hunted. What chance would oni stand, if *freckles* are reason enough to be picked on?

There is really only one thing he can say. And he says it, loading as much scorn he can into each syllable, falling crisp from his mouth.

"*Pathetic.*"

Tsukiyama angst ficlet owowowowow

I was watching a sad movie and it made me feelings I didn’t wanna feel so i started writing and I ended up making it worse 🧍🏻‍♀️

“Shut up, Yamaguchi,” Kei snips, sitting on the chair at his desk.

Taking off his glasses, he leans his head back, pinching the bridge of nose as he sighs.

“Today, was not a good day, and I don’t want to hear it from you,” he adds.

Slowly turning his chair to peek at Yamaguchi through the corner of his eye, he grumbles something incoherent.

“I didn’t say anything,” Yamaguchi says from the corner of the room, sitting on his usual stool as he stares back at Kei.

“I can hear you thinking,” Kei quips back, scowling at the innocent face Yamaguchi makes at him. “You think too loud.”

Turning back to stare at his wall full of photos and old magazine clippings, he sighs a different kind of sigh.

“How is it I’m stuck with you, even when the world has gone to shit?” He asks out loud.

“I’m always going to be with you, Tsukki,” Yamaguchi smiles at his back. “Always.”

Kei can feel the warmth of his smile beaming at the back of his head as if he’s the sun itself. The feeling washes over him, spreading over his skin like blanket on a cold winter night. It’s a familiar feeling, one that has Kei shivering.

Staring down at the papers and maps under his arms that line his desk, cities circled in red, water sources in blue, he watches a drop falls onto the pages. They keep falling, splattering across the maps like rainfall on a summer day. Hot and moist.

“Don’t,” Yamaguchi begs from behind him.

“I can’t,” Kei grits through his clenched teeth, trying with all of his might to hold back his anger, his hatred, his fear.

“You have to,” Yamaguchi shushes.

“It should have been me!” Kei cries, sobbing as he thrashes his arms, pushing the papers and pens off his desk.

The clatter echoes in his small basement. His sobs, lost in the sounds vibrating off the walls.

“I should have been the one,” he whimpers into his hands as he covers his face, hiding his puffy eyes and running nose from his companion.

“I’m glad it wasn’t you,” Yamaguchi smiles at him, reaching to pat his head, but Kei never feels the weight of his hand on him.

“It should have been me,” he sobs, staring at the empty stool where Yamaguchi always sat.

however when kei and tadashi get married, kei offers to take yamaguchi’s name with no real fuss, and yams lets him on the condition that kei keeps the nickname tsukki. kei might’ve rolled his eyes but he’s secretly relieved bc it would be weird if tadashi didn’t call him that all the time xx
