this may be blasphemous but i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: i think that the dawson’s creek theme song they use on hulu (“run like mad” by jann arden, which btw is actually the theme they used for the original pilot) is a better fit than the actual theme song (“i don’t want to wait” by paula cole). don’t get me wrong i love the regular theme song, i just think that “run like mad” is better at capturing the confusing teen angst of living next to a creek, having a weird haircut, and whining over michelle williams.

so I'm planning on getting gg from my library, I just really wanna rewatch it even though I didn't like it much at the end I only kept watching for chair tbh lol so when I get s1 my old derena feelings will probably return because I did ship them in s1 lol and ofc all my chair feels but also my serenate, dair, vanderbaizen, nate/jenny and rufus/lily feelings and ofc my blair/serena feelings!! 90210 season 2 was a drama only shakespeare could have penned

#I’m rewatching it right now and CHEFS KISS TO THE WRITING #see most shows have a golden first season and then season 2 goes so downhill and we don’t even talk about season 3 #cause nothing from that should be considered canon #but 90210 season 2 is some of the best television I’ve watched #like the liam/annie/naomi drama was a wonderful tale of betrayal and miscommunication amazing commentary on the human condition #like jen is angry that her 16 year old sister is throwing a prom after party #and to get back at her she ruins multiple people’s lives #like naomi tells jen a secret about liam #and jen pretends to be a neighbor and tells liam that she overheard naomi gossiping about him #and so to get back at his own girlfriend LIAM SLEEPS WITH JEN AND BRAGS ABOUT IT TO NAOMI? #and naomi finds annie’s scarf in the room and assum​es that annie was the girl he slept with #but it isn’t until after naomi leaves that jen comes back and tells liam that she isn’t actually naomi’s neighbor but is actually her sister #and now naomi is pissed off at annie because she thinks annie slept with her boyfriend #and Liam would rather let naomi think that he slept with her best friend bc the actual truth that he slept with her sister is even worse #and naomi goes on a tirade and starts bullying the shit out of annie to the point annie starts to go with the lie that she slept with liam #just to piss off naomi even more. AND JEN GETS AWAY WITH THE WHOLE THING 😭 #I saw that apparently pllos copies this storyline and it’s just like how dare you? only 90210 could pull off something like this

Voyager rewatch s2 ep8: Persistence of Vision

A 'something is messing with the crew's minds' episode, this one was kind of a mixed bag. I had fun watching it, but I don't feel like it gave us any valuable insights into the characters that we needed or didn't already know, or had any useful moral to the story. But I'd rather see something that's just okay and kind of ambiguous than something actively bad, like the previous episode, so I'm going to lean toward favorable with this one, since it had some nice elements.

Heaven knows I love Captain Janeway's gothic holonovel, and not only do we get to see more of it here, it actually becomes part of the larger plot, which was a nice touch. (Also, the bun hair is back, thank heaven! I love the bun, and I'm not sorry!!)

Overall it did a nice job of being very creepy and keeping us guessing as to what was going on till the end.

I love that Kes got a proper role in the story where she actually did something proactive, rather than being used as a prop for men to fight over. Kes being the one to fight off the bad guy with her telepathic abilities was a good use of her character, finally! I only wish they'd jumped straight to this instead of wasting time with bad romance.

Bad romance seems a little inescapable on Voyager, however- I was not a fan of this episode telling us that B'Elanna's got a thing for Chakotay. It feels like the show is just getting way too Beverly Hills, 90210 with everybody having crushes on everybody else every other episode. One of the things I like about Star Trek is that it's one of the few places where we see friendships between male and female characters that have a great deal of love and respect between them, but don't end up romantic. Opposite gender friends are a thing that exist, and it's nice to see that instead of constant romantic drama. I literally screeched and covered my eyes when B'Elanna's hallucination about Chakotay went from kiss to bedroom in like a second- that escalated quickly from literally no where! I was just minding my business eating chips and watching my little show about space anomalies and aliens- I was not prepared for that! I don't mind a makeout scene every now and then if it makes dramatic sense, but like, just please no out-of-left-field sexytimes right in front of my proverbial salad, ok? And they never did anything with this idea anyway (thankfully, tbh) so why bring it up at all?

Still not sure if that scene, or the scene where the Captain snaps at Harry, was the most 'omg!' moment of this ep though. Poor little Harry looked like a preschooler after his mom yelled at him. My poor baby. It's like watching someone kick a puppy. (Idk why the Captain had to be there to supervise B'Elanna and Harry testing out the doctor's new holoprojectors anyway; they're professionals, they can handle that themselves. I think maybe Captain Janeway just suffers from mom guilt and feels bad if she doesn't watch everybody's science experiments in person lol.)

Tl;dr: An solid episode that was spooky and entertaining, if not quite as psychologically illuminating as it wanted to be.

I’m rewatching stuff and noticed it’s a big thing.

Vampire diaries: Elena should never be in a car. Girl should have to just walk around.

Pretty little liars: Hanna gets hit, a car go through Emily’s house, Spencer and Melissa get hit by some rando (could’ve been A Marlene).

Ravenswood (🙄): Miranda dies when car goes off bridge (Elena did it first 😏)

Teen Wolf: Stiles crashes the jeer. deer in windshield

Glee: The horrible “don’t text and drive” reminder that they did to Quinn

OC: Marissa. Nuff said.

Veronica Mars: I’m counting the car bomb with Logan even if they were adults at the time

The OG 90210 (which is the shit btw!): Brandon was the first of many crashes in the show (season 1 episode 11)

Did that make kids afraid of driving? I’m sure older teen shows and even adult shows showed it, but this is about as far back as I could think of off the top of my head.

I was 16 when Friends premiered & i was a Chandler!girl from the jump. Watched all his romcoms & later Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, & Go On, + Whole 9 Yards franchise & Ron Clark Story. Recently rewatched Fools Rush In, just cuz. Do ya’ll remember his Beverly Hills 90210 ep? So I guess I wasn’t a Chandler!girl so much as a Matthew!girl. RIP Matthew. Thanks for the laughs.

Do you ship anyone in this rewatch of 90210 (besides the obvious romance between brandon and dylan lmaoo) since it’s been a while for you?

LOL. I don't know if I would say I ship anyone, it's more like ... in the first two seasons especially I was like, oh yeah, child Zal wanted Andrea and Brandon to get together and I absolutely see why

and they have more chemistry than people give them credit for, especially when they're both passionate about something and are arguing/debating or teasing each other in the office, and also physically, like when she kisses him just before going into the Peach Pit

and he just nods like yeah, let's - let's go inside, he was ready for that present, lmao and watching it now, I think they had very screwball comedy tension and it could've worked, like I actually think they would've been a crackling ship. And I think a Steve/Andrea/Brandon triangle would actually be compelling to watch.

I also liked quite a few moments between Kelly and Dylan,

I can't lie, even when they were being incredibly shitty

like season 3 Dylan is the Dylan where I'm like this isn't my thing but I can understand how he got his reputation

I like when they joke around/are playful and they had some of the type of angst that I go for

and then with Brenda and Dylan, I just liked watching their chemistry,

like, you two aren't even together here??

Fun fact about me.

I just continually rewatch the same old shows... often ones that were active when I was in high school. Shows I didn't get to watch way back when. Many of them I have never finished.

I was not allowed to watch TV in high school. So I seem to continue to be obsessed with pop culture from that Era.

Also some great Sci-fi shows. But I almost never never finish

Orange is the New Black... never finished. Restarted 3 times. Lea delaria. YUM

Buffy. -actually finished this once.

Firefly..... Finished this twice. Short.

Bones. Started twice? Didn't get very far.

My so called life. I did finish this one, several times. Helps that it is short and Claire Danes and Jared Leto, omfg.

Beverly hills 90210. Made it part of the way thru? Weird.

Desperate Housewives. Started twice, never finished.

12 Monkeys. Restarted. Never finished.

Vampire Diaries. Never finished.

Fringe.- actually finished this twice but really want to restart it.

Prison Break. Finished at some point, restarted this winter. Got stuck and had to pause.... ugg.

Criminal minds.... got to... S12?

The OC. Actually finished once. Restarted recently.

One tree hill. Started several times. Never get past s1 or 2?

Dawson's Creek. Restarted many times. Only finished once.

Supernatural. Obviously. And obviously haven't finished. Too in my feels on that one.

And the L word. Finished that one. Restarted many times, gosh. The Real L word. Didn't finish that one.... the new L word... Didn't finish. It is like torturing myself with all the people that aren't available around here.

Right now I am working on pretty little liars which is a new one for me... and trying to finish a couple of the old ones. So what do I do? Restart The OC, One Tree Hill & Buffy.

#5 The OC

(Spoiler alert)

Plot: Ryan is the quiet, smart guy from the wrong side of the tracks who ends up with a rich family in Orange County. Nextdoor is Marissa, the cute it-girl who hangs out with all the right people and does all the right things, but deals with a lot of shit underneath the fancy surface. Worlds collide and lives change as they and their friends navigate through teenage troubles, loves, challenges and parents who struggle with their parenthood.

Years: 2003-2007

Seasons: 4

My story: My brother was really into the OC when it aired and kind of dragged the whole family into it. Then he got all the seasons on dvd and we continued with rewatches in his small student apartment during high school. I was fascinatd with this teenage-life that was so far away from my own world, the bad boys and the good girls and how neither of them were really happy.

Teachable moments: The OC teaches us about two important things; awareness about our prejudices and the importance of giving people a second chance, in your life and theirs. The series seems quite shallow at first, but it's very layered and develops over the years.

Best character: Ryan is the core of this series and it's hard not to pick him. He comes in and shakes up everyone's worlds by just being himself. It turns he's the person everyone was missing and needed.

Best episode: S4E1 Avengers. Shits been going down and everyone's lost after Marissa's sudden death. Everything seems hopeless and noone knows how they're going to tie everything up. It's the beginning of a really interesting last season.

Best quote: "You're my destiny, Cohen" (Summer to Seth). Even though Ryan and Marissa's relationship's usually in the center everyone knows that Summer and Seth are the true endgame of the series.

Fun fact: Summer and Seth might be endgame in the series, but actors Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody split up before the series ended. Rachel went on and dated Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen for ten years and they have a child together. Adam, on the other hand, ended up married with two kids with another teen series actor; Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester. Acording to Bilson in the podcast "Welcome to the OC, bitches!", which she host with fellow co-actor Melinda Clarke (Julie), they've stayed friends though and all meet up for playdates.
