Don't know how many questions is allowed to be asked, if i asked to many i apologies:
Any plans on drawing more of the priest moth? I liked the design of her and her mantis friend.
Don't know if i missed it, but do you plan on making an angel character who's a dom? Afterall being physically intimate or sexual isn't a sin (contrary to what some might think) as long as you don't force yourself on others (or commit adultery/cheating, but that's pretty obvious).
Not a question, but so far i think my top 6 favorite designs are the two spider moms, Marigold, Sera, Cherub and Priest Moth.
What's Cherub's relation to Sera and Power and the others?
Is there any franchises you're a fan of that you've created art for? Like Wakfu, Rayman or some other show or franchise or game?
Any plans on opening commissions at some point or would be that to much strain because of your schedule?
Does Sera or Power play video games in their free time? Power kinda strikes me as someone who'd love Minecraft for some reason.
In the universe with Sera & Co. do other supernatural creatures such as fairies, werewolves or eldritch horror/cthullu stuff exist?
Ever tried a role-swap AU with your characters?
Is there any of your characters who play D&D, Pathfinder or World of Darkness?
1. No, I’m going to be using them for my uh. Other account from now on.
2. No. Being physically intimate isn’t a sin but anything sexual before marriage is considered sinful, so I don’t really have any Angel who fits that role. Prince (a character I haven’t introduced yet) is the closest to verging into that “past the physical intimacy” zone.
3. Thanks!
4. Cheri has no personal lore with Sera and Powers. Powers is just attached to her because she’s 1) very motherly and 2) a cute animal
Her history with Junior has more depth to it, but it’s huge spoilers so I can’t say why yet.
5. I made a lot of fanart for Rise of the TMNT, BNHA, warrior cats and Steven Universe not sharing any of it because it’s old and cringe.
6. No because of what you said. Too much extra work, plus I kinda hate doing comms compared to my regular patreon work where I can mostly draw what I want. For some reason a lot of commissioners do not consider my art style when suggesting characters.
7. Neither play video games. Sera actually has nothing in her house because she doesn’t want to involve herself in any indulgences. Well except kissing and hugging.
8. Yeah, eldritch horror is debatable though.
9. No but I thought about it. Maybe for April fools.
10. I have no idea what DnD is like so no answer

change of pace (ayato, ft.thoma drabble)
synopsis: drabble in which Ayato looks at you but your eyes are on someone else // featuring Ragnvindr Reader and Thoma!
notes: gn!reader // inspired by that one official art where Thoma has Taromaru on his head. not proofread and SLEEP DEPRIVED WORK =D but it's a drabble so have fun!
Inazuma had just opened its borders to Teyvat and with it came an influx of foreign businesses wanting new connections.
So it wasn't strange for Ayato to receive a meeting request from Mondstadt's most dominant corporation — Dawn Winery's collection of vintage wine and commercial drinks are enough to warrant competition from Inazuma's own local producers, even during the trade limits of the Sakoku decree.
For this, they sent [Y/N] Ragnvindr — capable, attractive, and most of all of marriageable age — to discuss new trade regulations and business prospects.
Whether you intend to or not, it's just so obvious for Ayato that it's likely an attempt for a political marriage. He's - quite frankly - sick of all the proposals but he's also aware that he has to choose someone for the sake of the Kamisato clan.
So he accepts the meeting with intentions to do business and to turn you down (your credentials are tempting but he'd rather have someone from Inazuma by his side), and waits outside the Komore Teahouse as your horse drawn carriage wheels its way over.
There's a business smile already on his face as your entourage opens the carriage door.
He sees the glimmer of excitement in your eyes as you step down, the slight rush of your footsteps towards him, the wide grin on your face, and he could only think 'Ah, an excited suitor, I suppose'
Mentally preparing himself to greet you, he does a slight bow but you hurriedly pass him, arms outstretched to embrace the pyro user standing guard behind him.
"Thoma! It's been so long! I never thought we'd meet again!"
"Y/N? Archons, wow! It's you! A couple of heads taller than I remember."
A resounding laugh reaches his ears as he turns around to see the display. You embracing his retainer. His retainer embracing back.
"I can say the same for you! Look at you!" You giggle, taking a step back but hands still holding onto his, "And is that a pyro vision? Amazing! Just like my brother! How did you get it? No, wait, how are you! It's been so long and there's so much we have to catch up on!"
Thoma laughs at the excitement on your face, about to reply before he realizes the situation, "U-um wait, Y/N— The lord—"
You raise an eyebrow before snapping upright, gasping before turning to the hydro allogene, "Ah! I- forgive me for the shameful display, Commissioner. How rude of me to lose composure." You cough into your hand, light blush dusting your cheeks as you try to switch to a more professional facade.
"It's quite alright, Mx.Ragnvindr," There's that business smile on his face again, "In fact, it's comforting to know that you're familiar with my retainer here. Thoma has been an invaluable member of the clan."
You chuckle, "I wouldn't have doubted it. He's always been incredibly capable, even back in Mondstadt."
"Ah gee, you flatter me too much." Thoma rubs at the back of his neck, a little flustered, "B-but enough about me. I believe today's agenda was on Apple Cider trade?"
Ayato nods along, gesturing towards the teahouse entrance, "Yes, I have the private room reserved for us. Let's continue with the meeting there." Before he could try to lead you away, a hand outstretched to escort you, you turn away to the blonde beside you instead.
"Will you be joining us? Or, at least staying till after the meeting, Thoma?"
"I actually have errands to run for my lord right now–" Thoma apologizes, "But I'll be free later this evening and we could catch up? If you're free, that is."
"Of course! Anything to spend time with you, Thoma."
This feels a little different than usual, Ayato thinks, but he can't say he doesn't like this nice change of pace.
masterlist 2
note !! was originally a long, slow burn work that I realize I had neither the time nor motivation to make since I have a few other works to prioritize dsjhnceiudjs

Gryffindor Lions Applaud NHL's Reversal on Tape Ban
Press release from the Gryffindor Lions organisation
The Gryffindor Lions applaud the NHL's decision to rescind the ban on Pride Tape implemented just before the opening of the season. The organisation would also like to note that the ban should never have been put in place to begin with, and strongly urges the Commissioner and Governing Body to partake in the diversity, equality, and social responsibility trainings offered by the league each year. We are disappointed that it took the NHL so long to rescind this farce of a ban.
We are grateful for the support and efforts from players around the league over the past weeks to showcase their disdain for this farce of a ban. The visible, on-ice support from Travis Dermott (Coyotes), Frederick Wentworth (Canadiens), Théo Angévine (Golden Knights), Marc André Fleury (Wild), Ryan FitzWilliam (Senators), and the entire Rangers team, was invaluable and has gone a long way to mitigating the damage done by the NHL Governing Body's thoughtless ban. As the NHL is still deliberating whether it will take disciplinary action over infringements to a now non-existent policy, we take this opportunity to remind the league that Albus Dumbledore and our Gryffindor players' association stand ready to cover all and any fines incurred for violating the tape ban. Should the NHL opt to do what is right, the funds already raised to cover any fines will instead be donated to the #Hockey4All foundation to continue its work in community engagement for the LGBTQ+ community at all levels of sport.
---
Notes: Here is the news on the NHL rescinding the ban, one of the articles that actually has information from the one (how is it only one?) player who went against the ban :> https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/nhl-rescinds-ban-on-pride-tape-after-coyotes-travis-dermott-uses-it-vs-ducks-per-reports/
Thanks to @lumosinlove and @amarguerite for the characters...
... and no, neither Fleury, nor the Rangers have taken a stand yet in real life, that is just how it works in the Sweater Weather universe.... (but it is not too late, come on guys, you can do it! Use the tape every day :D) .. also, no team would ever put out a press release that so blatantly disrespects the league. I wanted to make it even harsher, and then call it a draft press release and show Alice's editing notes with the legal team, but I don't know how to do strike-through on Tumblr yet (and drafted this super quickly in the app as soon as my partner had sent me the news).

Baking Disaster
There were three cardinal rules in Alfred’s kitchen.
1. No dishes left in the sink.
2. The microwave is for emergencies only.
3. Bruce Wayne is not allowed to touch anything. Not the fridge. Not cupboards. Not even the cutlery drawer.
Neither Alfred or Bruce would ever explain the reason why, but Jason had a feeling his mentor had once set the kitchen on fire. Or maybe more than once. But Alfred let Jason help him cook and bake. It gave Jason a rush. There were so many rules in Wayne Manor, or even outside it that he had to follow at all times. He almost missed the streets. Almost. But here there was something Jason was allowed to do that Bruce wasn’t.
Bruce and Jason only broke that rule once. Alfred caught a cold. One bad enough to put him to bed but not bad enough to send him to the hospital. And so they bought a can of chicken noodle soup and stuck it in the microwave for three minutes, bringing it to Alfred after it had a minute to cool. And after Alfred was safely asleep and breathing close to normal, Bruce got a mischievous glint in his eye and the faintest trace of a smile.
“Follow me,” he whispered conspiratorially. It was a side of Bruce Jason had never seen before. Were they gonna do something illegal? Maybe shoplift the convenience store at the end of one of the Batcave tunnels?  Break into the R&D labs at Dagget? Pull a prank on Gordon? (Well, Jason was pretty sure that was illegal–Gordon being the police commissioner, and all.)
It was nothing illegal–at least not in the eyes of the public. Jason looked up at Bruce (God, to think there was a time when Bruce was taller) curiously as he tip-toed, tip-toed into the Wayne Manor kitchen. He held a finger to his lips as he edged open a drawer to the side of the stove, and pulled out two aprons–one full size and one tween size. Bruce tied his on with a flourish and made quick work of the ties on Jason’s. “Ready to get to work?” he whispered.
Jason nodded silently, pulling out the baking cookbook and whispering ingredients. Flour. Butter. Chocolate chips. Raw cane sugar. Eggs. Almond Extract. --”Trust me, Bruce. Alfred doesn’t believe in vanilla.” Baking soda. Water. A pinch of salt.
They didn’t use the standing mixer–too loud. So they took turns mixing it by hand. “Watch this.” Bruce grinned, stirring faster and harder. “Betchya Barry can’t stir this fast–oh.”
Part of the dough flew and hit Jason on the nose. He narrowed his eyes as Bruce's eyes widened. “Now you’ve done it.”
“Wait, Jason–”
“Too late.” Jason grabbed a handful and threw it at Bruce’s face like a snowball.
It didn’t crumble like snow did, landing on Bruce’s chest with a smack. “Jason.”
Jason swallowed. “Bruce–”
Next thing he knew, the whole bowl of dough was getting dunked on his head. By the time they finished their dough fight, Jason and Bruce had to make a whole ‘nother batch to bake. But man, those cookies looked good baking in the oven.
Just after the timer dinged! Bruce and Jason heard a soft cough behind them. Oh no.
“What happened to my kitchen?” Alfred said weakly, a soft quilt wrapped around his shoulders. Jason looked behind him and saw the mess for the first time. Dough on the cabinets. Dough on the floor. Dough on the cookbook. Dough on the ceiling.
“I can explain–”
Thankfully, Alfred was a forgiving man–once Jason had cleaned all the kitchen with Bruce’s help. Bruce still wasn’t allowed though.
“Jason? You okay?”
Dick’s hand grabs Jason’s shoulder. He jumps, the mixing spoon clattering to the floor. “Huh?”
“You’ve been standing there for ten minutes.” Dick looks worried.
“Oh.” Jason looks down at the unmixed ingredients, and realizes his hands are shaking. His chest hurts. There isn’t enough air in the room.
“Master Jason?”
Jason doesn’t even realize that he’s kneeling on the floor until Aflred wraps the same quilt around his shoulders.
“It’s okay, Jason. You’re safe.” Barbara says soothingly, handing him some ice water, and helping him hold the glass.
Tim kneels in front of him. “Remember your breathing exercise. Four counts in. Hold. Four counts out. Hold…”
Dick turns the music down, along with the police chatter. He even closes the curtains. And when Jason’s ready, Dick guides him upstairs to the couch, tucking him in without a word.
Just as he starts to walk away, Jason whispers. “Thanks.”
“Any time, brother.” Dick smiles softly, and the sun glimmers in his eyes.

Thank you for tagging me @hqlylightning :D
Rules: Tag a few people you want to know better; make a new post, don't reblog!
Favorite color: Black or forest green :D
Currently reading: Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth (disastrous lesbians filming a movie in a haunted house with evil ghost wasps)
Last series: (I’m assuming book series?) The Carlyle series by Roslyn Sinclair, a published Devil Wears Prada Mirandy fic where Andy never leaves Miranda in Paris, Miranda gets pregnant, they fall in love, it’s EXTREMELY addictive, I loved the fic and the books are also *chef’s kiss*. And I weep for the 70k+ that was cut for publication cos all of it was GOLD.
Last song: Harry Styles, As It Was
Last movie: Level 16 (extremely fucked up dystopian horror-ish movie sib made me watch)
Coffee or tea: Neither 🤮
Sweet, spicy or savory: Savoury
Three ships: Leonard Snart/Barry Allen; Leonard Snart/Barry Allen/Iris West; Emma Swan/Regina Mills
Currently working on: (oh boy, how long have you got lmao)
- My novel, which is a Swanqueen AU hopefully turned original book where Emma and Regina are married assassins who keep trying to kill each other instead of working on their marital issues
- The Time Traveller’s Wife Coldflash fic, where the oculus explosion causes Len to spontaneously time travel and he and Barry have to navigate a relationship that happens out of order
- I just started a Wildmoore fic based on what would have been a Batwoman s4 plotline where Sophie becomes commissioner, and how that impacts her and Ryan’s relationship
- SO MANY OTHER FICS. I swear, more than fifty are in circulation in my head at any given moment. Aside from coldflash fics I also have current WIPs for Spider Man: No Way Home, 1970s-era Doctor Who, Batwoman, and god knows what else.
First ever ship: Larry Stylinson (I was young 😭 don’t ship RPF, kids, it gets messy.)
Favorite piece of clothing: I have these delightfully ugly joggers (sweatpants) covered in cactuses. The cactuses are all wearing santa hats. I got these pants in a reduced to clear sale at H&M while i was in uni, and they have SO MANY HOLES IN THEM that i keep sewing up because i refuse to throw them away 😊
Comfort food: i’m a crisp fiend
Favorite time of the year: probably autumn

Bitches be trippin
and I don't mean the females! We out here kickin ass and takin names, making it look easy. Whereas the men, well... we made them our bitches this week ;)
Leave it to Lexi to be a badass professor, wife, mom, pop out a bebe, go to the ER, AND still wipe the floor with the rest of us in week 1... of her first ever fantasy football matchup. There is nothing this woman can't do... ALL HAIL QUEEN LEXI!
Tumblr media
Aaron is a Karen- need we say much more about this star performance? Lexi's roster is as about as good as it gets... unless her team suffers some serious injuries or an NFL player finally gets punished for beating a woman, I don't see Aaron is a Karen falling in the ranks much. Aaron Rogers sucks a big D, but this team does not, so beware.
Miss Commish- what can I say, I know a thing or two ;) my only beef is that I let a newb beat me (Lexi, I'm coming for you)! Now if only Ja'Marr Chase and D'Andre swift could stay healthy all season... *knock on wood*
Baby Dropped Dak- girl, I see you with this name change! LOL! Luckily Niki wasn't rookie enough to actually play Dak over Patty Mahomes, which put her in a position to comfortably beat Jerry and his little Lamb. Also, how tf did Niki land Justin Jefferson? This guy literally got more yards than Dak did... (separate note, when will Cowboys fans just give up already?) Niki is new to this fantasy thang too but watch out for her because she was smart enough to make an objective decision and subsequently name her team after snubbing the QB of her beloved Cowboys. Will she continue to set her lineup each week and thrive? Only time will tell. Don't consider Baby Dropped Dak a bye-week just yet.
Denver Sex Dungeons- ahh yes, 1st male loser to the women, the best of his kind in this league. His experience shows, much more than that of the manager of Staff Infection. Even with the best Younghoe performance one could ask for, Jack couldn't overcome the absolute dominance of the Lady Commissioner. However, Denver Sex Dungeons does play a rather weak schedule in the next 2 weeks... if the male-managed teams continue to suck ass, perhaps Jack will be the lucky one to pull out the win.
Jerry had a Little Lamb- Okay in Steven's defense, who could've seen Tom Brady doing THIS poorly against the Cowboys? The part in Tom Brady's hair was wide enough for the Cowboys to drive a Ford F-450 King Ranch edition through, yet surprisingly neither team exhibited much success in scoring fantasy points. That being said, Steven is an incredibly competitive manager, and he will certainly be entering the matchup v. his wife with a vengeance. If Miss Commish is lucky, Jerry had a Little Lamb will continue to play Denver's defense, and Tom Brady will continue to be '45 years old, man', and 'have a lot of shit going on'.
Staff Infection- My time is too valuable to review the loser each week. Jake, please see the aforementioned disses on your team, and better luck next time, buddy.

Hell In A Cell
Batsis x Batfamily One-Shot
Word Count: 2K Warnings: Explicit Language and Violence
Author's Note: I can't believe I haven't put this one back up yet. Nothing's more fun than WWE references when you're kicking ass, ya feel? -Thorne
They could feel her eyes on them as they stared at their hands, too afraid to meet her gaze. Dick suddenly found the beds of his nails interesting, Jason and Tim kept looking at the steel seats they were sitting on, and Damian just turned towards the front. She sat opposite of them, on the bench against the other wall, leaning forward, her elbows on her knees. The last time any of them had looked, she had her fingers intertwined and pressed against her lips, her eyes cold and infuriated. After a few moments, Dick gathered the courage to look up from his nails and glanced at her.
He gave a fearful smile and asked, “Uh…sis? Are you still…mad?” Her eyes drifted to his and he visibly flinched from her gaze.
She tipped her mouth away from her fingers and seethed, “Mad is the smallest word for what I am right now.” The others flinched at her fury and looked up, taking in the image of their angered sister.
“It wasn’t that bad (Y/N). We’re just…detained…” Jason’s words died as (Y/N) turned her eyes to him.
“I told you four chuckleheads that the property we were on was protected, but nooooo, ‘we’ll just be in there for five minutes. No one is going to find out’.” She growled as she stood, flinging her arms out to gesture around them.
“Well guess what?! Someone found out! And now we’re stuck in a goddamn jail cell at GCPD, waiting for dad to come bail us out!” Each of their necks disappeared into their shoulders.
Tim spoke quietly. “At least none of us got hurt.”
“It doesn’t matter if none of us got hurt! This is going to be all over the news tomorrow! ‘Billionaire Bruce Wayne’s kids found trespassing on personal property’.” She looked at them as she snapped, “Do you have any idea what this is going to do to our reputations?!”
She turned to Tim. “What this can and will do to the company and future deals?!” (Y/N) sat back down and dropped her head into her hands. “We’ll be lucky to come out of this unscathed.” She groaned loudly and rubbed her face with her hands, sighing tiredly, “Dad’s going to be so pissed when he gets here.”
“Father will not be angry at us sister. He will understand what we were doing.”
(Y/N) let out another heavy sigh and from behind her hands, she muttered, “Oh, he’s going to be angry. He’s going to blow a gasket he’s going to be so angry. I highly doubt—”
A shout from the back of the room cut her off. “Will you five shut the hell up? God, you’ve been complaining ever since you got in here.” The comments made the four boys turn their heads to a group sitting in the back.
(Y/N) pulled her head up and turned, her voice dark as she retorted, “Buddy, I’m in a less than stellar mood right now and unless you don’t want me to show you what your insides look like—I’d advise you to shut the fuck up.”
Her threat made him stand up and he started walking towards her, his group of thugs following in tow. “What did you just say to me rich-bitch? Wanna repeat that?”
When he finally stopped walking, he was right in front of her, and she could see her brothers beginning to rise from their seats for a quick defense. She raised a few fingers in their direction, telling them to wait.
(Y/N) looked up at him as she rose from her seat, coming nose to nose with him. She pulled the most intimidating face she could muster and repeated, “I said, unless you want me to show you what your insides look like…shut the fuck up.”
The man turned to his friends and started laughing, causing them to follow in suit, then he turned back to her. “I don’t think you understand the position you’re in sweetheart.” He motioned to his friends. “We’re in Two-Face’s gang.” He motioned to a group in the corner. “And those clowns work for Joker.”
He turned back to her and reached out, shoving her shoulder. “You’re locked in here with us. Imagine what we’ll do to five rich kids that don’t have any bodyguards to protect ‘em.” The others laughed, and (Y/N) shot a quick glance to her brothers along with a nod before looking back at the man and letting out a dark chuckle. A feeling of apprehension came over them as they stopped laughing.
She flashed him an unsettling grin and leaned forward, whispering, “No pal, I don’t think you understand. We aren’t locked in here with you.” Her brothers rose, moving to her sides and she leaned back. “You’re locked in here with us.”
The man’s eyes widened, and she jerked forward to grab the back of his neck and slammed his head into the seat she’d previously been sitting on. He dropped and the cell went dead silent.
The gang members in the back had stood up, and (Y/N) looked at the ones in front of her. “Who’s next?” No one moved an inch, and she tipped her head side-to-side. “C’mon jackasses, we’re gonna be here all night. We might as well get this over with.”
The gang members looked at each other before nodding and they turned to her and her brothers. “You’re so going to regret that.”
(Y/N) tipped her head and gave a quick glance to her brothers, grinning evilly. “Whoever knocks out the most thugs gets to come with me to Tokyo next week.” They matched her grins and they got into fighting stances.
She turned back to the group and taunted, “Let’s dance.”
***
They all collapsed onto the metal benches, sweating and bleeding; (Y/N) glanced at Dick who was holding the collar of his shirt to his busted lip. “You good Dickie?”
He looked at her and tossed her a thumbs up, and she turned to Jason. “How’s the nose?” He grunted and held his nose before sucking in a breath and shoving it back into place with a sickening crunch. The others winced at the sound, and Jason let go of his nose, slamming his head back into the wall a few times.
“I’ll take it that you’re better now?” He raised a few fingers and she reached down, tearing a piece of one of the unconscious gang-member’s shirts and tossing it to Tim. “Put that on your eyebrow Timmy.” He caught it and raised it to his left eyebrow that had been spilt open.
He nodded at her and she finally looked at Damian who was continually spitting blood on the floor. “You alright Dami?”
He spat once more and looked at her. “I got a tooth knocked out.”
The others turned to him and leaned forward, trying to see. “Lemme see!”
He opened his mouth, pointing to a tooth in the bottom left of his mouth. “It was a baby tooth, so there’s no problem.”
Jason snorted, but immediately regretted it as he reached up to hold his nose; he turned to Damian. “You’re thirteen and you still have baby-teeth?” Damian’s retort was cut off by a tennis shoe whacking Jason in the head, and they turned to see (Y/N) reclining against the wall.
“Jason don’t be a douchebag.” He grumbled at her and rubbed the side of his head, but conceded, and silence filled the cell once again.
After a few moments, the sound of footsteps came from down the hall and they all turned their heads to see their father, Alfred, and Gordon staring at them in shock. They flashed sheepish smiles, and (Y/N) waved a hand. “Hey dad, hey Alfie…hey Commissioner Gordon.”
“What in God’s name happened here?!”
(Y/N) looked around at the ground littered with unconscious gangmembers and turned back, grinning. “Uh…they got their asses kicked six ways from Sunday.”
“Why?!”
“Well, first they insulted us, and secondly, they put their hands on us. So technically, we were well within our rights to whoop ass.”
Her father glared at her and rebuked angrily. “(Y/N) Wayne, not another word.” She gave him a mock salute and shut her mouth; Bruce turned to Gordon and began discussing something, and a few minutes later, her and her family were walking out to the waiting car.
They all climbed in and waited for Bruce to start yelling at them; no words came from him, but they could tell he was seething with rage. A few moments went by and they pulled into an abandoned parking lot.
Bruce turned around and let them all have it. “You’re all off patrol for two months. Reason number one, the trespassing. Reason number two, the Hell in a Cell you five had.” He paused and threw his hands in the air. “What the hell were you five thinking?”
They all looked at (Y/N) who rolled her eyes and scoffed, “Yeah sure, look at the oldest and expect her to explain.” They giggled at her and she turned to her dad. “First and foremost, I can’t believe you just used a WWE term. Secondly, they were thugs, and we were attacked. So, by default, we just responded naturally.”
“And breaking skulls and bones is natural?”
“Is that a legit question?”
“Don’t make me ground you, young lady.”
(Y/N) grunted at him. “I’m twenty-six. You can’t ground me. I don’t even live at home.”
The others watched them bicker until Bruce raised a hand. “Enough. We’ll discuss this at home.”
“Again, I don’t live with you. I live on my own.”
“(Y/N) Wayne.”
“Alright…whatever.” He turned back around and nodded to Alfred, and the car began moving once more.
After a few minutes of silence, Jason cleared his throat and nonchalantly mumbled, “Not that it’s super important right now…but I get to go to Tokyo with you next week.”
“The hell you do! I knocked out the most thugs!”
“No, you didn’t replacement. I did.”
“Neither of you Robin failures completed the challenge correctly. I won it.”
“Not to be rude little D, but you would be incorrect. I won the challenge.”
“Ain’t nobody asked you Dickhead.” This spurred an even bigger fight as the four of them began to bicker in the backseat, and (Y/N) groaned, leaning forward and rested her chin on Bruce’s shoulder.
His head tipped downwards, and he eyed her. “What’s wrong with you?”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and mumbled, “I gotta them all to Tokyo next week because we aren’t going to be able to figure out who knocked out the most.”
Bruce sighed, but a small grin crossed his lips, and after a few seconds he murmured, “You won the most knocked out, didn’t you?”
“Oh totally.”
“That’s my badass daughter.”
“Hell yeah.”
“Master Bruce! Ms. (Y/N)! Your language!”
They both glanced at Alfred and said, “Sorry Alfred.” They looked back at each other before sharing a smile, then the sound of flying fists reached their ears and they both sighed. Then,
“OW THAT WAS MY NOSE!”
“AND THAT WAS MY LIP!”
“OW YOU LITTLE SPAWN! THAT’S MY ARM YOU’RE BITING!”
(Y/N) glanced over her shoulder and looked at her fighting brothers: Jason had Dick in a headlock while giving him a noogie, and Tim was trying to remove Damian’s teeth from his forearm. She turned back around and looked at Alfred and her dad.
“Do you guys wanna come with me instead of them?”
Bruce eyed her with an eyebrow raised. “Do you really think leaving the city to the four of them is a good idea?”
(Y/N) thought for a moment before muttering, “I mean it’s not a great idea, but it’s an idea nonetheless.”
“One that’s bound to end up in a city on fire.”
“…Yeah you got me there.” She paused a slight second before affirming, “But the offer still stands.”
“No (Y/N).”
“But I don’t want to take them with me.”
“Too bad.”
“Fuck my life.”
“MS. (Y/N)! LANGUAGE!”

@craftybookworm5 asked about the ‘Chainsaw Incident’ that got Steph and Duke banned from every haunted house in Gotham, and I got bored because I had no school today so here it is.
Okay, so Duke and Steph are were the only batfamily members to not be banned from/refuse to go into Gotham’s extensive amount of haunted houses, either because of panic attacks (Tim, Damian, and Jason) instinctual violence against clowns (Bruce, Cass, Dick, and Damian and Jason because neither of them learned the first time) and the refusal to put themselves in any fear-inducing environment beyond what they already do as vigilante (Babs and Alfred).
So Stephanie ‘Oh someone’s behind me let me throw a brick at his face wait it’s Robin fuck I’m sorry dude’ Brown and Duke ‘I don’t care if there’s a man-eating crocodile in the sewers I’m going down there anyway oh wait shit there’s a cult down here I’m going to join a gang now’ Thomas were alone in a haunted house with no supervision.
Honestly, it probably would’ve gone okay except for the fact that the Joker happened to be using that particular haunted house as a hideout and had, naturally, replaced all the fake chainsaws and actors with real chainsaws and henchmen. Steph and Duke took care of the henchmen Joker ‘disappears’ afterwards due to what Commissioner Gordon refers to as an ‘accident’ but everyone knows was Ivy but they cause so much property damage in the process that they get blacklisted from every other haunted house in Gotham.

genuinely curious about your intricate sun lore and if the design you posted represents sun 1 or 2 (or both or neither?)
HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!! :D thank you so much for the ask, and for enabling me!!! i love infodumping >:)
so i’ll preface this by asking that you’ll excuse me if some parts of this doesn’t align perfectly with blaseball lore. this is still something i’m very much rotating in my head, and working on!
OKAY! with that out of the way... the basis for my sun headcanons hinges mostly on the fact that, to quote lootcrates, parker macmillan the first is a “failed sun,” as well as a “failed son.” the insinuation being that there is exists a successful sun, and by extension a successful son.
in less uncertain terms, what i’m asserting is that the sun is the sibling of parker macmillan the first (who is implied to be the child of The Boss). or, at least, that his sibling is a vessel for the sun.
given parker macmillan is a player, we can assume then that he’s just a regular guy, as in not a god like his mother. it’d be safe to imagine then that a sibling of parker would be just as normal as he. ....unless they were made to be godlike.
in pre-history there’s a lot of diction implying creation and upkeep of the sun, with namerifeht “forging” and “refilling” the sun. unlike the other gods it doesn’t seem to have as much autonomy, and the use of words implying refilling makes one imagine that there is something that needs to be filled.
as far as whether my drawing was sun 1 or sun 2.. well, i don’t really think they’d bare much visual difference since,
Tumblr media
given alternates were called for sun 1 just before it collapsed, i think sun 2 is an alternate for sun 1. (for clarity’s sake, the intention was sun 1! whether sun 2 would look the same or different is something else i’ll need to think about)
and, hey, that’s another connection between the sun and parker macmillan the first! who else in blaseball has had their later clone-like, minutely different iterations referred to by number? parker and the commissioners! perhaps something in the macmillan family makes them especially disposed to be replicated in the way of alternates? are the commissioners just alternates of parker, like how sun 2 is the alternate of the 1st? it plays a lot into why parker macmillan of anyone else was repeatedly chosen to be kept as commissioner, after how many times previous iterations have expired.
it’s a lot to ruminate on, and i’d love to receive feedback and thoughts >:)
thank you so much for the ask and the interest!! :D

Tokyo Tower (Part 1) Fingel
The MC meets Fingel!!! :D Finally! Please enjoy! @rurifangirl by request
You were back in the Club Takamagahara after a long night. While you were working on your final episode in the MC Romance Contest, you declared Ruri Kazama the winner and gave him all your star hearts. This was in direct rebellion of Z’s orders, and it turned out that Z was running this whole place. He reacted by temporarily cutting all the power in the nightclub by some invisible hand.
Not only that, Erii had lost control of her powers and killed 76 people in the middle of Tokyo. Caesar, understandably spooked by all of this, ordered both you and Erii to get out of the island nation on a ship to China. But Lu Mingfei had other ideas.
He drove at breakneck speed to a small town where you enjoyed yourself in Erii’s company and watched the sun go down. You thought you were going to be getting on the boat the next morning, but Lu Mingfei put you on the train back to Tokyo with her. You had to get off early, killed a death servitor who attacked you and were found by Hydra. They would have killed you had Ruri Kazama not found you and brought you back to the nightclub.
Ruri Kazama said he ‘accepted your proposal’ but as you go down the elevator to change your clothes and bathe, you realize that it could mean a lot or not much. He could have accepted your proposal to join him in the fight against Herzog. Or he could have accepted your proposal not to throw his life away, or accepted your proposal to be his bride. Or all of them. Or just two? Who knows? Your mind was a mess. Maybe Chu Zihang was right. Maybe your mental state was deteriorating slowly and you hadn’t noticed.
You hurry to the room where you were staying with the men and much to your shock, your sleeping area in the closet was untouched. They hadn’t come back after going to the hotel to put you in Lu Mingfei’s custody. What was different was a little black dress, black stockings and some jewelry.
Attached with a note from Z.
Your heart rate sped up and you looked around for his ghostly figure, but you didn’t see him. You creeped forward, looking for any signs of booby traps, but you didn't see any. You pull the note from the dress.
“To my dearest, MC. I must apologize for my uncharacteristic outburst yesterday. Rejection can be hard. I do care about you. You need a man who can survive. However, the heart will do what it will do, right? So I can only give you my full support. Please accept this dress and sage advice. This is your first date with Ruri Kazama. Be yourself, be conservative, but be girly. Quiet and silence and what is hidden and far away will attract his attention. He will notice every single detail. Make your body a scavenger hunt. ;)”
A man who can survive? Was that a reference to Chance? Is he suggesting that Ruri Kazama will end up like him? If so… how cruel.
Still, you put on the clothing. It wasn’t flashy. The body seemed to be a simple straight dress that gently held your figure before flaring out at the skirt. The open back and sleeves were covered by a sheer fabric that made its embroidered black vining rose pattern seem painted onto your skin. A single bluish colored jewel hung on a gold chain that was as thin as a thread. It lay across your chest and sparkled right in the shadow of where your cleavage began. He said, conservative but girly, so you tie your black hair up into a bun but leave some strands of hair to hang on either side of your face.
What did he mean by scavenger hunt? Placing objects in hidden places? You huff. Z really was a perv, but you took his words to heart. Just above where your skirt ended at your knees, you tie a red ribbon that would stay completely hidden, only peeking out when you sat down.
Caesar was not going to be happy once he found out about what Lu Mingfei had done. But Caesar never so much as raised his voice at Lu Mingfei so you can’t imagine him doing anything. Chu Zihang clearly threatened you not to defy the order, but you were innocent in this matter. If Mingfei didn’t take you to the dock and put you on the boat, what were you supposed to do? Swim to China?
Still, you don’t stay in the room. Ruri would be in the bar area, so you decide to go there to hide until the Takamagahara closes for the night.
Once the last patron was escorted out, you take a spot at the bar where Ruri Kazama was working as a waiter, blending in seamlessly and keeping himself low profile. For now, you both ignore each other, but he does serve you a bit of sushi and some tea without a word.
You spot Lu Mingfei, Chu Zihang and Caesar together near the exit. Lu Mingfei seems alright and that relaxes your heart. He was wearing a backless pinstriped suit and looking at someone under the stairwell. In fact, all of them were looking down at this guy and talking. Eventually, they picked him up off the floor and helped him limp over to the bar. They sat down near you with only one seat separating you.
The man they were helping was tall, with messy blond hair and smelled like he hadn’t bathed for days.
Chu Zihang poured him a glass of warm water. Caesar turned to Ruri Kazama. “Get us a warm towel to wipe his face.”
Ruri just nodded and walked off to retrieve the item. You keep your eyes low. Evidently, Caesar didn’t recognize him, but surely he noticed you at this point. After all, the bar stretched nearly the length of the dance floor. For them to sit so close to you meant they knew you were there.
“Guys.." The man nearly had tears in his eyes.
"You were dragged into our affairs," said Lu Mingfei, "Everything’s so messed up right now. I”ll go through the details later."
"My beautiful brother..." The man sighed with a weepy expression.
"In fact, we are not much better off than you right now." Lu Mingfei also sighed.
He was an ace commissioner too? Then why was he not in the team? You’d never seen him before, but if he had survived on his own without anyone’s support, he must be incredibly resourceful.
"What are you talking about? How many times have I told you? Are you going to get me something to eat or not?" He suddenly jumped up and howled like a wounded beast, making you startle. "Do you want to starve me to death to silence me?"
You crack a smile and a brief laugh escapes you before you can stop it.
Caesar immediately turns to you from the other side of the man. “Fingel, I want you to meet our new freshman. You haven’t had the opportunity right?”
Caesar looks you directly in the eyes and you look him right back. What was he on? Talking to him about a new freshman when he had tried to rush you off the boat as a Godzilla hours ago?
But he grins at you. “Don’t be shy. I swear he doesn’t bite, though he is very hungry right now.”
This Fingel was staring not at your face but at the peek of red ribbon on your thigh. You pull down your skirt roughly. That was NOT for him! “Nice to meet you, Fingel.”
“Ah! Such a beautiful face soothes my tortured heart!” He sighs. “Brother, you are so kind to have brought such a supple young beauty with you to Japan. A man cannot live on bread alone as they say. They also live on the red ribbons and a narrow waist!”
You straighten up and hiss. “Don’t compare me to bread, you-”
Fingel was undeterred. He dramatically rests the back of his hand against his forehead. “How can I? Everywhere I look, I see fine Japanese delicacies.”
Ruri Kazama returned with four bowls of Ramen and he refilled your tea. Fingel’s eyes practically glowed at the colorful bowls of delicious steaming noodles swimming in slow cooked pork broth. “Oh how thoughtful, so thoughtful!”
You don’t say anything to Ruri. You were watching in amazement as Fingel efficiently downed three of the four bowls himself, working the chopsticks like a conveyor belt and not even stopping to cool the noodles. Then he tilted the bowl back and gulped down the broth like he was one of the five Chinese brothers swallowing the sea.
The waiter Ruri blinked a moment and then returned back to the kitchen to make more. He was a fantastic host and so understated that the rest of the boys were completely unaware that he was even here, partially thanks to all the noise Fingel was making.
Mingfei’s eyes were flickering between you and Caesar but neither of you were saying anything to each other yet, but Caesar kept smiling at you with gentle eyes. It was confusing, disorienting. After all this time together, it felt like you were back at the beginning, silent and not responding much to your teammates.
Ruri poked his head out of the kitchen and caught your eye briefly. You were uncomfortable and he knew it but he was busy.
Fingel shouted. “I would like four prawn tempura and a double portion of the miso soup!”
Ruri looked up in amazement and asked Caesar for his opinion with his eyes. Caesar, with a simple look, indicated to him to comply. The waiter Ruri bowed deeply as though to say, ‘Understood’ and went flying back into the kitchen.
Fingel fished a bottle of whiskey from the liquor cabinet, and ate ramen noodles with the strong wine, not even bothering to talk to his colleagues.
“I feel like I’ve come back from the dead!” Fingel swallowed the noodle soup and sat up straight, rubbing his stomach with a baby-sweet smile.
"Ready to go take a bath?" Caesar suggested.
Fingel stank like he'd been buried in a garbage dump and fermented, and the three of them together couldn't overpower that perfume.
"Give me a break, give me a break." Fingel got up slowly, holding onto the bar, "I ate a little too fast. I need to let it settle!”
"There is still a bowl of noodles left. You also ordered prawn tempura and miso soup." Chu Zihang reminded him
"That's the next meal. I'll take a break and go to the bathroom to make room for the tempura and miso soup."
Is this man serious? You’d read somewhere about greedy feasts where people ate for the sake of eating. When their stomach got full they just threw up to make room for more food.
"It's good to see you guys, I've never felt so sincerely that you're my brothers." Fingel looked like a dog, sitting and wagging its tail, lolling its tongue and rolling its eyes at its masters. "All three of you look great, and your clothes are particularly handsome. But this… this lady. What can you tell me about her?"
You tense a bit as he leaned forward like he was going to lick your face.
"President, this dress is Oscar De la Renta. They don’t make it any more. Very exclusive and expensive. Where did you find it here? And this necklace, is that a Versace blue diamond? So understated but it’s at least 4,000 dollars right? And your face, you seem a bit Asian but you’re not. I hear a hint of eastern Europe in your voice. Are you Russian by chance? I do love Russian girls! Such delicate feminine beauty!”
He was praising you but all you wanted to do was slap his face.
"Can you speak human?" Lu Mingfei covered his face with one hand.
Caesar was grinning conspiratorially. Something had just clicked in his brain. He didn’t buy you those clothes.
“In fact…” Fingel suddenly turned away from you and looked at the other men. “You all have a delicate feminine beauty right now!” He beamed.
They all suddenly bristled at him.  “Don’t say anything about this back at the college!” The three of them simultaneously surrounded Fingel, as if three hungry tigers were ready to pounce on a lamb.
Fingel tightened his shoulders and smiled cautiously: "How could I? We doggies are taking whoever's money to do whoever's business. I ate your ramen noodles to keep your secret. but I'm sincere, Caesar. I've never thought you were so handsome. This style is too suitable for you! I think you released your ego to find the second spring of your life!"
You let out the breath you’d been holding. Just when the squawking parrot Mingfei had raised his status in your eyes, you had to collect this smelly stray dog.
"Business takes precedence," Chu said, "Now that we have a fifth person inside Japanese territory. Is anyone else here?"
"The Japanese branch has turned traitor." Caesar explained to Fingel, "We are all disconnected and can't contact Norma."
"What's worse is that the Japanese branch may have the secret of the White King's bones, and the bones may still be revived.  They are slowly hatching in Japan and are already capable of moving on their own!" Lu Mingfei added, "We endure this humiliation to investigate this matter."
"You guys are dressed so well, have food, and have a woman to fall back on, what kind of humiliation is that?" Fingel grunted disdainfully.
You open your mouth but swallow your protest.
"I know everything you guys are saying. I already know the Japanese branch is up to no good!”
"How do you know that?" Chu Zihang was a little surprised. “You’re rank F and shouldn’t have access to classified information.”
"Do you think I'm just here for an internship?" Fingel smiled triumphantly, "The Hydra have always believed themselves to be the true rulers of Japan, and were not willing to submit to the Academy to act as a mere branch. The only reason they didn't betray the Academy until now was because they feared one person."
 "The principal?" Caesar understood.
"Yes, in their eyes the academy is just a group of scholars, except for the principal. They think the principal is a thug, a thug who dresses up in Western-suits, drives sports cars. But he’s a martial arts master, and if the Japanese hybrids don't behave, the principal teaches them to behave with a blade. And if they resist, the principal uses a rocket launcher instead." Fingel said, "These hybrids worship violence, so they fear the principal, but do not hate him."
You’re suddenly reminded of Chisei’s words to you in the elevator. Chisei was suspicious that you were someone with close ties to the principal, not because of your being an Ace Commisioner, but because of your fighting style! He said you fought like the Principal, using a technique lost to time. In your pain and weary state, you didn’t think much of it. You were more curious than anything.
But in Chisei’s eyes, you were a dangerous individual! And potentially a person to be feared!
All three men nodded.
"But the principal knew that his personal authority alone could not stabilize the Japanese branch for long. So he has been sending people to infiltrate the Japanese branch for years under the name of internship. I am one of the spies, and my job is to collect information about the Hydra family." Fingel stroked his long hair, "Do you think I just came to Japan on vacation?!"
"And what information have you gathered?" Caesar asked.
"I've got all the gossip and secrets of the heads of families! So don't be afraid! If the Hydra families push too far, we will announce their private bedroom secrets to the media!" Fingel's dominance flowed as he struck a superman pose.
"We don’t need that kind of information! What we need is the relationship between the Hydras and the Devil Clan, as well as information like the Well of Bones." Lu Mingfei was completely exasperated.
"I just heard about the Devil Clan. What’s the Well of Bones? Is that information that important? More important than the private affairs of those big shots?" Fingel was taken aback.
"Fingel, I just said the White King, right? White King! Compared to a dragon king on the level of the White King, who cares if they are having sex in private? Are you out of your mind, brother?" Lu Mingfei said.
"White... White…. White King?" Fingel stammered.
"Yes! The thing that will be awakened may be the most difficult enemy encountered in the history of the Secret Party!" Caesar said slowly, "The Japanese even call it ‘God’.’
Fingel rubbed his chin. "That's tricky, I always thought that the principal sent me to Japan to cover the Hydra leaders in a racy scandal! So my time was spent on installing pinhole cameras and wiretaps. I got a hold of a lot of their racy photos. It’s useless now but why don't you take it out for everyone to enjoy? " Fingel fished out the flash drive from his pocket.
"You sure you’re not sent by Hydra to sabotage us?" Lu Mingfei asked.
"No, I was obviously sent by the principal to sabotage you." Fingel seamlessly responded.
"I’m leaving, I don’t want to get into it with you.” Lu Mingfei was crimson with frustration.
"It was you who fought with me first!”
Chu Zihang interrupted this pointless conversation, "At least, we got together with Fingel so it’s not all that bad..."
"You think it's kinda bad, right? You clearly have said it!" Fingel said loudly.
You’re trying not to laugh but you can’t help yourself. You rest your elbow on the bar and cover over your smile, looking over at the boys with rosy cheeks. This is what they get. It’s God’s punishment for casting you out!
"Sorry, I didn't mean that." Chu Zihang looked embarrassed, almost deferential, and backpedaled. "In a way, it's a good thing, Senior Fingel brought some very important intelligence ......"
"You mean racy photos?" Fingel asked, trapping him again.
Chu Zihang can only concede and not acknowledge what Fingel said. "At least we know that the principal is aware of the situation in Japan and has planted manpower. This means we might have more help.”
"If we can find a way to get the word out that we are here without the Hydra noticing, then we might be able to attract more companions." Caesar said, glancing at you.
You break his look and suddenly take great interest in your cooling tea.
"That's a good plan. We should stay here and wait for help," Fingel acted just like he already joined the group, "It’s great that you found this hideout. Hydra will never find you here. Plus this hideout is very traditional.”
“Who’s tradition?!” Lu Mingfei was stunned.
“Japanese! Japanese tradition! During the Meiji-Revolutionary era, the revolutionaries hid in brothels to cover their tracks. You are not only hiding in brothels, but also practicing in one," Fingel lamented, "That is even more concealing!"
"Since we are so hidden, how did you find us?" Mingfei looked a little more puzzled.
"I came to join you guys’ little boy band! You guys are so popular now, so don't leave me out. What do you guys think of me? Do you think the store manager will like me? I have to have a stage name to be in your circle, right? How about 'Heracles'?” He curled his arms. “The women will imagine me as a big, muscular man!" Fingel rubbed his hands together, his eyes shining, "They'll get excited by my name."
"I think you’ve gotten excited first," said Lu Mingfei, annoyed. "I'm asking how you found us, so get to the point!"
"I was talking to the girls in the Internet cafe. Someone with an unknown ID sent me a picture of the three of you in uniform, looking particularly handsome. The sender said he was my colleague," Fingel said, "He gave me the address. I followed the address to find this place."
"What was the name of that ID?" Chu Zihang's face suddenly changed to one of silent seriousness.
"Kazama Ruri… blah-blah. Some girly name!"
"It's not gentlemanly to casually put down someone's stage name." The waiter Ruri placed the tray of four prawn tempura and two miso soups in front of Fingel.
He took a chilled glass from the refrigerator, took the whiskey bottle from Fingel, and elegantly and skillfully made a Japanese-style "water chaser" drink. He placed it in front of Fingel: "Strong drinks hurt your stomach, a little water will make you feel better."
Then he moved to you and refilled your tea again. When he was done pouring, he raised his head and looked at you. The arch of his neck immediately called to mind the delicate white curve in the neck of a Japanese crane. The two of your eyes met. Your eyes were like the cold of the north and his were the cold of the Japanese deep sea.
In Japan, cranes are revered as holy creatures. Standing regally at five feet tall, covered in ivory feathers with a red crown on top of their head, they are symbols of eternal love. When they meet, they stay together for life which can last decades according to biologists, but according to legend, Japanese cranes never die.
In a single look, both you and Ruri Kazama revealed yourselves to the Ace Commissioners as more than simple allies, but as two silent warriors facing each other in the blowing winter snow.

If you could take creative control of ninjago what would you change
Tumblr media
Christ...
WELL
Actually no idk where to start with this there’s so much anon there’S SO M U C H I guess I’ll do a run of MINIMAL changes tho (for as long as I can)
I don’t think I have to change much in the first two seasons, thankfully, since the writers actually sat down to think about what they were writing at the time but g o d did it go to hell afterwards
Season 3 - This Zane focused season is going to be ZANE FOCUSED DAMN IT. We’re focusing on his loss over his Father, having salt rubbed in the wound by having his father’s work turned into an evil army, and being faced with the fact he’s obsolete compared to it all. He keeps trying to stack up numbers to win, recalculate things, and it’s why his line at the ending ACTUALLY has impact. The thing that sets him apart from the nindroids, his ability to love, is what allows him to defeat the Overlord.
Jay, Cole and Nya love triangle is DESTROYED. Pixal, Zane and Cole is the new love triangle and later OT3
Season 4 - The explanation for the other EMs being around is far less stupid. Garmadon establishes that oh yeah all of your parents had elemental powers and even talks about a few of them because holy SHIT. Cole mentions his mom because he should have done that a g e s ago. Is this supposed to be a Kai season doesn’t feel like it. Open the season with better explanations of why the ninja split. Emphasis the fact that Kai blames himself for what happened to Zane, and continues to do so throughout the season. Add that to why he’s so desperate to save Skylor from her dad (not willing to lose someone else). We still lose Garmadon, Kai and Lloyd have a talk at the end of the season. Also ZANE IMMEDIATELY GOES TO GET PIXAL A NEW BODY WTHHH????
Season 5 - Idk this season was pretty good over all I think. A bit better lore established into the cloud kingdom, hints that they don’t actually control fate they just think they do. Explain where the FUCK NIMBUS CAME FROM?? Water can still beat up ghosts but idk feel like there should be some other factors involved, some magic. Kai and Zane figure out they can make water a LOT sooner. Also why doesn’t Kai just set the preeminent’s house armor on fire??? Should have. OH I did forget since this season is supposed to be for NYA GETTING HER WATER ELEMENT how about she actually GO WITH THE NINJA AND DO SOME SHIT SOMETIMES??? I don’t mind her training, specially Ronin helping her but like??? Wtf why not have her ENGAGE, idiots.
Season 6 - I’m the weirdo who actually likes season 6 but that doesn’t mean it’s not without its issues. I don’t mind Jay wondering about where he stands with Nya but his behavior throughout the season has to stay consistent. When he agrees with Nya he needs to let it go he needs to LET IT GO. IT LITERALLY SHOULDN’T BE BROUGHT UP AGAIN UNTIL THE LIGHTHOUSE. He also needs to linger more on his birth father (and besides he should have suspected he’s adopted since season 4 cause he knows neither of his parents had lightning powers). Zane doesn’t ignore Pixal’s warning about Nadakhan but if she’s off somewhere else idk how she gets threatened I’m sure Nadakhan could figure it out. OH and time can still reset and stuff idc but like, Jay and Nya need to talk about it and they need to GO BACK FOR ECHO. EVEN IF THEY DON’T FIND HIM THERE.
Day of the Departed - just wish it was longer tbh, but major changes: Why do the ninja not seem to care that cole is FADING OUT OF EXISTENCE and Lou should be a lot more worried about his son.
Season 7 - I mean, it’s mostly a trash fire, but I think it’d be a lot more enjoyable if they actually had good sibling dynamics going on. Acronix following his brother because he always has, but starts questioning their plans as things go. At first their relationship is much better, which is why they best Kai and Nya, but by the end that flips over. Actually have Kai and Nya having an ISSUE. Kai thinks their parents could have been traitors, Nya seemingly doesn’t care because she’s so wrapped up with her samurai x stuff being stolen. They end up fighting and don’t make up until the boiling sea. ALSO GIVE RAY AND MAYA A BETTER FUCKING EXCUSE FOR BEING GONE THEY COULD HAVE FUCKING SHANKED KRUX WHEN HIS BACK WAS TURNED GET OUT OF HERE HE HAD NO LEVERAGE.
Also Machia isn’t dead okay she’s just in the past she WILL COME BACK
Seasons 8 and 9 I’d say are pretty solid honestly? My minor changes: Garmadon isn’t Garmadon he’s a fucking fake get out of here with that shit THE REAL GARMADON WOULD NEVER. We actually learn where Mr. E came from I don’t even care if it’s just Harumi and UV talking about how they found him in a scrap heap and got him fixed just give me something. Stop treating Dareth like SHIT. Ronin and The Commissioner plan a jail break long before they’re let out in season 9. Teen Wu is a lot less... air headed. Like seriously he seems to have more logic when he’s a child it doesn’t add up. I’m not saying he has to remember everything but wth?? Oh, and Mistaké isn’t dead fuck you.
Season 10 - ............................................ delete it and start over. Literally, hate all of it, get it out of here. Four episodes for villains you built up like FUCK in the last two seasons??? All of them fucking as big as people???????? cowardly, weak, uninspired, I don’t want it I’m just going to have to redo this whole gd season. A) Oni leader is a QUEEN now and she can be up to 30 feet tall no I do not give a FUCK B) Fake ass Garmadon is revealed to be a different oni entirely he was an agent for the queen the whole time but never finished his mission C) She can still paralyze a bunch of people but man Lloyd you’re going to need more than a shiny tornado to fight her off. D) In fact you need to summon your other great grandma so the two of them can get over their divorce spat. E) Where’s the mask of vengeance bring that back into play. F) Mistaké shows back up to help. I suppose plot wise it can?? Mostly run the same but I think they’re going to have to run much farther than the city with how fast she spreads her reach. Also she’s weak for Lloyd because he’s the smol great grandson and he has to use that to his advantage to slow her down. Mistaké makes something that can unparalyze people and they get some of their allies back before the finale thank god. Faith isn’t just in a coma the whole GD time.
Season 11 - Fire half? Good. I need a much better reason why the ninja go to the never realm tho because wow did they just make everyone out of character in that last episode. The ninja have no reason to just ignore Wu and shove him out like that. Wu has no reason to NOT NOTICE LLOYD IS BREAKING INTO HIS ROOM WHEN HE WAS KICKING THE NINJAS ASSES IN THE FIRST EPISODE. Ice half?? ... h Yeah no they should have known Zane was the emperor from the start LMAO. Or at least suspected the possibility. The decades of time passing??? Deleted. Maybe give it a year. Idk why it’s just Lloyd snapping Zane out if why aren’t the other ninja involved like p l e a s e. Also kill Vex with an ice spike, thanks.
Season 12 - Over all I liked what this season had going but there... should have been more. And that ending felt so crunched together like damn... Unagami was a p cool villain at least BUT idk, despite all the focus on the plot so much of it didn’t feel tangible enough. Even if we’re going to focus more on the video game world I want to see more of what these NPCs are up to. Should have tossed in a couple of filler episodes. Also can someone just kill the Mechanic too SMH (and they should have tied Wu up in something sturdier how did he not just break out of that WHATEVER)
Suppose I’ll stop there I haven’t season season 13 yet.
Oh, the timeline itself needs some fucking work too. At least establish Wu and Garmadon’s sudden aging. At least establish how old Zane is (I’d believe he was built 40 years ago but I find it hard to believe he was active for all of it). Establish that yeah the FSM really did basically fuck off like idk 14 years ago and idk why the show acts like it was so long ago it couldn’t have been based on the other facts we know have Wu learn that his dad is a bitch ass motherfucker and he needs to ditch.
Honestly there’s more but like................. this is the simple version

A Miracle In The Family - brood au
Characters: Clark Kent, Jason Todd, Lois Lane, Diana Prince, Dick Grayson, various others Pairing: implied/past superbat Summary: Jason ran off after his birth mother, and was now in the hands of the Joker. Clark just hoped against hope he’d get to his boy in time. A/N: Obviously this AU’s take on Jason’s (not) death. He’s 14/15 here (and Dick is around 18, here’s the breakdown of years apart the kids are if you forgot like I did). I don’t remember all of the canon Jason dying storyline, so forgive how it’s probably all wrong regarding Jason’s ma. I tried to follow the kind of outline of this I made in the last chapter of ‘Whole’ but suck at everything so didn’t really. Sorry ending is bad and vague. Jason attempts to be Robin a little after this but I don’t think he sticks to it much/for long, and this is probably a bit of a lead-in into how Conner and Tim get into heroing.
Other Brood AU things.
~~
Clark could kick himself. Wanted to, honestly. Wanted to straight up die, was the real truth.
Because he didn’t notice. Somehow, he didn’t fucking notice.
Didn’t notice the extra research Jason was doing. Didn’t think about how Jason was talking about his birth mother an awful lot all of the sudden.
Didn’t notice the Robin suit was missing until now. Didn’t notice that Jason wasn’t home in his room, that none of his siblings had any idea he was gone or where he was going. Until it might just be too fucking late.
“Just…” He breathed into the phone. “I…I don’t know. Get to the house. Stay at the house.” A tremor, in his own voice. “Don’t let Cass or any of the boys leave your sight, okay?”
“Okay.” Dick practically whispered. Clark could hear the car roaring down the road in the background. “I won’t, Dad. I’ll keep them safe. Just keep me in the loop, alright?”
“I’ll try.” He paused, as he began to follow a river, knew the river was the trail to Gotham. “But even if I don’t, no hero stuff, okay? No waltzing in to save the day. You get to Smallville and you stay in Smallville, got it?”
Dick hesitated, and Clark could almost hear him biting his lip.
“Okay?” Clark repeated. “Promise me, Dick.”
“Yeah, but Jason-”
“Promise me.” Clark nearly begged.
Dick sighed. “Call if you need help. Me, Diana, anyone. Jay’s already run off on his own – apparently. Last thing we need is you doing it, too.”
“I will.” Clark swore himself. “I’ve already given Lois a call too, and she’ll be there when she can be. Though the Daily will probably want to cover this as breaking news so…I’m not sure how soon that’ll be.”
“No problem.” Dick mumbled. “I’m almost there.”
“Good. I’m sorry I took you from work.” Another pause, and Clark could feel Dick’s own fear, even through the phone. He wondered if Dick could feel his too. “…I’ll bring him home, Dick. I swear on my life.”
“Okay.” Dick murmured childishly. “I’m about to the farm, and I think I can see Conner and Cassie outside, so I’m gonna go.”
“Okay.” Clark nodded to himself. “Love you.”
“Love you too, Dad.” Dick returned, a little too seriously for Clark’s liking. Though, right now, nothing was going to Clark’s liking.
Dick hung up without another word, and Clark absently shoved the phone back in his belt, returning all focus to the city appearing over the horizon ahead, and the boy within its walls that he would do anything not to lose.
“Hang on for me, Jay.” He prayed, pushing with all his strength to fly as fast as he could. Mostly to himself, to whatever god that was listening. But also into the communicator in his ear, that connected only to Robin. He couldn’t tell if Jason’s was on, if he had it, or if it had been destroyed. But he could have sworn he heard a ragged breath or two. “Please just hang on.”
The city was already abuzz with what little information anyone had. Televisions and electronic billboards were all broadcasting the grainy video and blurry stills that the Joker had released. Repeating the god-awful news.
The Joker had Robin. The Joker had already beaten Robin into the ground. Would continue to do so until he was bored, or until the little bird died, he’d declared with that hideous laugh. And no one would stop him, even if they wanted to. Because no one could.
People looked up at him as he flew overhead, but for once, he had to ignore them. Had to keep his focus, no playing up to the crowds today. Not when his boy needed him.
Not when his son might die.
He could see them talking, though. Whispering. They all put two and two together, knew Superman was here to try and save Robin.
He could see them all pitying him, too. Because none of them believed he would make it.
Poor Superman, they sighed to each other. Just wasting his breath. Try as he might, no one gets saved in Gotham. That’s just the facts.
He didn’t blame them for thinking so. Gotham was cruel. Heartbreakingly cruel. They were just realists.
But he couldn’t let that stop him. Never had before, and absolutely refused for this to be the first time.
So he took a deep breath. Deep and shuddering. He wanted to cry, but knew he couldn’t. Not until he found his boy.
He exhaled, and kept that focus, waded through the heartbeats he could hear, looking for that one. That one of seven he knew better than anyone else on this ridiculous human planet.
It took him too long. Longer than it ever had before. But eventually he found it. Slow and weak, but around the west side harbor. Sweet, stubborn Jason.
He blinked and he was there, the heartbeat growing louder in his ear every second. But not faster. Oh, no. The louder it got, the slower it seemed to become, and dread filled Clark’s soul.
And suddenly, there was a beep nearby. Somewhere in the warehouse complex.
Beep. Second. Beep. Second. Beep. Second.
Laughter. Terrible, screeching laughter. Not from the same place, but somewhere close.
And below it all: tears. Quiet, pained sobs. A quiet gasp of “Mom…”
Beep. Second. Beep. Second. Beep. Second.
He could hear it in his ear too. Tinny and soft through that communicator he hadn’t been sure was still on.
Clark’s whole world stopped.
A bomb. There was a bomb.
The warehouse doors didn’t stand a chance. He burst through them like they weren’t even there, not caring where the shrapnel landed. A woman shrieked, and for once in his life, Clark couldn’t care less.
Because…there!
There, across the room. Jason was sprawled on the ground in a pool of blood. He was barely conscious, but was trying to stand, trying to get onto his hands and knees, looking at a point across the room. But his obviously mangled hand kept slipping in the blood, and bouncing off the crowbar that had been dropped next to him.
The bomb was between him and Clark, and it read two seconds.
Clark didn’t think. Didn’t even breathe. Took off across the giant room as fast as he could, afraid that it still might not be fast enough. And even as he moved, he saw Jason’s mouth move. Bloody and bruised, he watched Jason as he continued to stare across the floor, and once again said, “Mom…!”
Oh yes, the woman. Jason’s mother. His real mother, the one who abandoned him too many years before.
The clock struck one second, and he still didn’t care about her. Only cared about the boy he still felt too far away from.
But he was Superman. He was supposed to save everyone. Even the bad guys.
And how would Jason react, if he left his mother behind?
But there was no time to think about it, so he ran on autopilot. He grabbed Robin, curled him up into his arm, and then he turned, jumped and grabbed the woman. She was tied to a post, and Clark didn’t bother attempting to be gentle as he ripped her out of the rope.
He was a foot away from the warehouse threshold when the bomb went off.
He threw the woman out of the building and to the side as the heat hit his back. Curled his whole body around Jason as they were knocked to the ground, covered him as the fires cried and raged around them.
“Mom.” Jason wheezed, even as he curled his bloody fingers into Clark’s uniform. “M-Mom…!”
Clark glanced up. Could see the woman hobbling to her feet a safe distance away, looking into the flames for them.
Or…or was she looking for a way to escape?
“She’s okay, Jay.” Clark whispered anyway, ducking his head back down, refusing to let even Jason’s hair be exposed to more pain and injury. “I got her out, too.”
“C-Clark.” Jason coughed, and even in the shadow, Clark could see tears cascading down Jason’s battered face. “D-D-Dad…”
“I’ve got you, baby.” Clark murmured himself, holding Jason as close as he could. And even as he said it, even as he kissed Jason’s temple, relief washed through his body.
Because he did. He got to him.
Just in the goddamn nick of time.
The initial explosion finally settled, and Clark felt that it was safe enough to move. Carefully, he stretched Jason across his arms, tried not to cringe at the pitiful wails of pain Jason gasped with every movement.
When Jason was finally settled against his chest, Clark stood and looked around.
Jason’s mother was gone, and not a single trace of her was left.
“Sorry.” Jason sobbed weakly. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
Clark suddenly wondered who the apology was for. Himself, or the mother who had apparently just abandoned him again.
He remained on scene just long enough for Commissioner Jim Gordon and his police department to arrive. Not on purpose, but it took him that long to get a safe enough distance away from the wreckage, and to think of a plan. Head to the nearest hospital? The Fortress?
But after speaking briefly with Gordon, and informing him that he was taking Robin, he decided neither of them were good enough, and headed towards the closest transporter to the Watchtower.
Jason came in and out of consciousness the whole journey, but the blood never seemed to stop flowing. He was whiter than a sheet by the time he got him to the ICU, and Clark was terrified that he’d lose him before they could get a transfusion started.
So he didn’t let go of his hand. So small and cold, Clark clung to it as his fellow Leaguers rushed around him, setting up tubes and machines and needles. Jason whimpered and whined, but he couldn’t do much else. He didn’t have the energy or the strength.
And even as his friends got him situated, and on the path to stability, Clark couldn’t help but fear the worst. What if they lost him? What would any of them do if they lost him?
What would his kids do? God, what would he do?
He didn’t think he could take it. Jeez, look at how he dealt with losing Bruce, and that was just a disappearance, an assumed death. Here, he’d watch, first hand, Jason wither away.
It’d destroy him. Him and Lois and his entire family.
He stayed, even after his friends did everything they could. Even after they got the transfusions going, the monitors beeping and the injuries wrapped or otherwise taken care of. Sat there, holding his boy’s hand, wallowing in the possibilities of the next twenty-four hours.
So he didn’t hear the rap on the door, or the throat clearing. Didn’t react until he felt a hand on his shoulder and jerked up to find Diana staring sadly down at him.
“I called home for you.” She whispered. “Talked to Lois and Dick. Told them what’s happening.”
“Thank…” Clark coughed, his throat unknowingly dry and scratchy. “Thank you, Diana.”
She nodded. “Dick is beside himself, and wants to come up here right away. Lois was able to convince him to stay home with his remaining siblings until morning.” Diana frowned. “The children are all beside themselves.”
“No doubt.” Clark sighed, risking releasing Jason’s hand to run it down his face. He blinked in confusion though, as he felt the early signs of stubble on his chin. “Wha…?”
“You need a break.” Diana suggested gently. “I will sit with him while you go rest.”
“No, I need to be here. I need to stay with him.” Clark shook his head. He glanced out the nearby window, though, and frowned. The stars were in a different place than he thought they should have been. “…How long have we been here?”
“It has been about ten hours since you brought him up here.”
“Feels like it’s been twenty minutes…”
“Because you are exhausted.” Diana tugged softly on his arm. “You need your rest.”
“But…”
“I will come get you the moment he wakes, should he at all.” Diana promised. “Jason will never be alone. I swear that to you, Clark. Not even for a second.”
And he wanted to shake his head. He needed to stay. He couldn’t leave his son, not after almost losing him. Not after not even realizing he’d gone.
But he knew if he didn’t, Diana would force him. Lock him into their makeshift prison, use Kryptonite on him.
And…maybe she was right.
“Just next door.” Clark mumbled, reluctantly standing. He stood for a second, before leaning down and kissing Jason’s forehead. The boy didn’t move. He breathed via machine for now, and it didn’t take an inhale for him for another second. “And if anything…”
“I will get you.” Diana nodded, all but pushing him from the room. “Rest well, my friend, and know that we will do everything we can for him.”
Clark nodded wearily, shuffling to the next door. When he got into the room he stood there, staring down at the white, clean sheets. He hadn’t taken off his bloody uniform yet, and was too tired to do so now.
“…I’m sorry, Bruce.” He found himself whispering into the silence. The silence didn’t answer. He sighed, swallowed the lump in his throat, and laid down on the cot.
~~
He awoke to another hand on his shoulder, and opened his eyes to find Dick staring down at him.
“Hey, Dad.” Dick whispered. He didn’t look much better than Clark felt, skin gray and dark circles under his eyes. He looked like he hadn’t slept. And Clark had to be honest with himself – his eldest probably didn’t.
“Dick…”
“You doing okay?” Dick asked as Clark sat up, stumbled to his feet.
“Fine. Tired, but…fine enough.” Clark mumbled as gathered Dick into his arms. Held him for just a moment. Relished in the feeling of Dick hugging him just as tightly. “Have you seen…”
“Yeah.” Dick croaked into Clark’s chest. “Lois is in there with Tim and Conner right now. Barry and Arthur are distracting Damian and Jon for the time being. Diana is helping Cassie process it all.” Dick sighed, leaned his weight against him. “I just…needed a break.”
“I know the feeling.” Clark mumbled into his eldest’s hair. Absently rubbed at his back. “I’m just…god, I’m just glad I made it in time.”
“Me too.” Dick agreed, leaning back. Clark couldn’t help but hold Dick’s cheek. He just looked so tired. So much older than his years. “…He looks terrible, Clark.”
“I know, son.” Clark nodded, that lump in his throat from before he slept still there. “I’m glad you didn’t see what I did when I found him.”
Silence.
“…Has anyone said anything?” Clark asked, gently turning Dick towards the door and leading him out. He heard Jon’s laughter before he saw them. Found his mouth twitching into a small smile as he watched Barry run around (at a human speed) with Jon on his back. Damian was sitting on a sofa nearby with Arthur, critically examining his trident. “Found anything out?”
Dick kept his frown, glancing towards the door of Jason’s room.
“Typical Joker things.” Dick mumbled. “…The mom was in on it.”
Clark froze. “What.”
“Jason’s mom.” Dick repeated, sounding just as bitter as Clark felt. “She was working with that bastard. Knew what the Joker had planned, more or less, and lured Jason there anyway. J’onn said her being tied to a pole was probably the Joker betraying her. Can’t say I’m surprised.”
Clark turned away, looked in through the window of Jason’s door. He still wasn’t conscious. Lois was holding his hand. Tim was holding the other one. Conner was at the window, staring angrily out into space.
“…I regret saving her.” Clark whispered furiously. “I’ve…I’ve never regretted saving anyone, not even Lex. But.” His fist tightened. “I will regret saving her until the day I die.”
Dick didn’t say anything to that. He didn’t act proud. But he sure didn’t act disappointed either.
“…He must have known.” Clark murmured thoughtfully, glancing at Dick when he heard Damian call his name. Watched Dick give him a tight smile and short wave. “Jason, when I found him. He…he had to have known.” Quieter, sadder. “…And he was still trying to save her, when I got there.”
Suddenly, Clark realized what Jason’s initial apologies were for.
Dick bit his lip. Closed his eyes and looked away. “…What are we going to do, Dad?”
“No, no. There is no ‘we’, Dick.” Clark pushed, turning towards Dick completely. “Nothing here is your responsibility.”
“He’s my brother.” Dick pushed back. “We share a room. I should have noticed something was up. I should have stopped him before any of this happened.”
“No, you shouldn’t have.” Clark shook his head. “Eight people live in that house total, and not a single one noticed. I didn’t notice. If this is anyone’s fault, Dick, it’s mine. Not yours. Never yours.”
Dick sniffed, wiped at his eyes.
“Besides, you did what you were supposed to, honey.” Clark put a hand on his shoulder. “You came when I called, and you took care of the rest of the kids.”
Dick turned back to look into Jason’s hospital room himself. He didn’t gasp, or break down, the tears just silently started pouring down his face. Clark did the only thing he could. Just pulled Dick back into his arms, and held him as tight as he could as he sobbed into his neck.
“What if he doesn’t make it?” Dick wailed. “God, Clark. Dad, what if we lose him?”
“Don’t think like that, sweetheart.” Clark whispered, holding the back of his head. “Please, don’t. Just have faith in your brother, okay? Jason’s a tough kid. If anyone can make it through this, it’s our Jay.”
Dick gave a little hiccup, and tried to nod. Clark just held him. He glanced over once, saw both Diana and Arthur watching them sadly.
But with Arthur distracted, Damian made his escape. Hopped from the couch they were on and came running at them. Didn’t say anything when he reached them, just latched on to Dick’s waist.
After a moment, Clark released his eldest, turning to his second youngest. “Hey, baby. Can you do me a favor?”
Damian didn’t let go of Dick, but glanced up curiously.
“Take Dickie over to Uncle Arthur, okay?” He asked. “And how about you tell him what Uncle Arthur taught you about Atlantis and the trident.”
Damian nodded, and shifted only to take Dick’s hand and drag him away. They didn’t make it to Arthur, before Cassandra appeared too, giving Dick just as big a hug as Damian and Clark had.
Clark smiled, just a little. His kids were so smart.
He waited long enough to watch Diana lead them all back to Arthur, and all of them pile onto the sofa, before turning and entering Jason’s room.
Lois looked up at the sound of the door. Tim glanced at him for just a second. Conner didn’t move from the window.
Silently, he walked around the bed, pecking Conner’s temple before wrapping a loose arm around Tim’s shoulders, rubbing at his arm.
Jason was unchanged. Still pale, covered in wires, but worst of all, unconscious.
“How soon until he can come home?” Tim asked quietly. It was naïve, but so innocent it broke Clark’s heart.
“I don’t know, Tim.” Clark whispered. “I just don’t know.”
“Boys, can you go make sure Jon and Damian aren’t driving the League out of their minds?” Lois asked politely, standing from her chair. Tim nodded almost gratefully, like he was looking for a reason to escape the room. Clark didn’t blame him. Jason was a soul-crushing sight.
He shrugged off Clark’s hand, then turned and tugged Conner’s elbow until the other moved. They disappeared silently.
Lois waited until the door was closed before looking back at Clark. She studied him for a moment, then tilted her head.
“How you doing, Smallville?”
“I feel like he looks, if that makes sense.” Clark murmured. “I just…I want to fix it. I want to fix everything. I’m Superman, I’m supposed to. But…I don’t know how.”
“Clark, you’re not a doctor. You know you can’t.” Lois offered. “The best you can do is be there for him, like you always have been. Be there for him and the other kids.”
“How am I supposed to be there for all of them if I’m barely dealing with it myself?” Clark whispered sadly, running a hand through his hair. He didn’t realize how greasy it was until now. “God, Dick just broke down in my arms because he thinks Jason’s gonna die. I can already tell Conner’s going to bottle this all up until he explodes. Tim looks like he’s aged one hundred years since yesterday, and I don’t even want to know how this will affect Cass and the babies.”
“I’ll help you where I can.” Lois smiled. “And while you’re there for the kids, I’ll be there for you. So will the whole Justice League and your parents and your friends at the Daily.”
“I appreciate that, Lois. Thank you.” Clark sighed, hooked his fingers around Jason’s. They were still so cold. “…God, Bruce would hate me for this.”
Lois’s comforting demeanor dropped immediately. “Clark…”
“And I wouldn’t blame him.” Clark woed. “Christ, he left his kids with me because he thought I could protect them, and here I almost got one killed.”
“At least you were there. At least you got to him in time.” Lois countered. “And like you said, he left them. He’s not the one here at his son’s bedside. You are.”
“He’s dead, Lois.” Clark reminded. “He’d absolutely be here if he wasn’t. Hell, Jason wouldn’t have ever gotten the opportunity to run off if Bruce was still able to raise him.”
“My point is, don’t do this to yourself, Clark. The what-ifs and thinking about Bruce isn’t going to help.” Lois tried. “You don’t need it, and neither does Jason.”
Clark sighed, and glanced out the door. Zatanna was there now, distracting Conner, Cass and Damian with magic tricks. Diana’s protégé Donna had appeared now too, and was sitting where Arthur had been, Dick leaned exhaustedly against her neck as she hugged him, smiling at Jon on his lap. Tim sat next to Dick, half leaning against his brother while teasing to tickle Jon at the same time.
Then he looked back down at Jason. Comatose and half-dead. A shell of himself.
“What do we do now, Lo?” Clark whispered.
Lois sat back down, retook Jason’s fingers for her own. “Now we wait.”
~~
Clark sighed as he sat down, inhaling the steam from his fresh mug of coffee. Smiled softly at Dick in the chair next to him, long asleep from before he even arrived. But the love for his brother was still palpable in the air, even if you didn’t notice the almost-actually-beard stubble on his face.
He’d been against the idea at first. Dick, trying to start out on his own as a young adult, taking a leave of absence from his job to stay at the Watchtower with Jason 24/7. That wasn’t Dick’s job, that was Clark’s.
But now he appreciated it. Appreciated the little shop in Smallville who employed his eldest for now. When he gave them the vague story, they’d immediately said to take as much time as he needed. Even mailed treats to the house, and started a tip-jar fundraiser for Jason’s (non-existent) medical expenses.
People were still good, despite where he was right now, and that was always a nice thought to remember.
He blew on the steam from his coffee and looked at Jason as he sat down. It’d been about two weeks now, since he’d found his boy in the nick of time and brought him to the Watchtower to heal. Two weeks since he’d fallen into a coma. Two weeks of waiting.
It all hurt a little less now. Mostly because nothing had changed. Sure, in the days after, Clark found the Joker and threw him in prison. But much like always with Bruce too, the bastard escaped and went underground. And Clark had bigger things to worry about right now than uselessly chasing him around a city that wasn’t his.
But after that, it was this. It was Dick sitting up here alone most of the time, give or take what ever League members were on the Watchtower, then Clark joining him whenever he could leave the office, or write his articles remotely. With Lois offering to stay with the others in Smallville, he slept here, with Dick at Jason’s side, then returned to the office the next morning.
The children came to visit often, even when they weren’t supposed to, but Dick being up here so much was bad enough. He wasn’t going to let the younger ones waste away up here too, even though they all desperately wished to.
Otherwise, this was it. A fresh cup of something hot, a book or documentary to watch, machines beeping, and this boring, ugly, gray room.
Every. Single. Day.
So today wouldn’t be any different. Today, he shouldn’t expect anything to be any different.
Except, apparently, it was.
He was sitting there reading, had already tuned out all sounds. Tuned his powers to listen only to the sounds of heartbeats. Of the slow, steadying breathing of Dick and Jason. Calming, for the most part.
So he missed the quiet groan. Missed the little word, almost, just assumed it was Dick talking in his sleep.
But he sure didn’t miss that second time.
“…Dad…?”
He was on his feet so fast, the chair he shoved backwards was embedded into the wall behind it, the mug sitting on the arm shattered amongst the wires lining the floor.
Jason’s eyes were barely open, and even struggling that as Clark gently put a hand on his face. It took him a good five seconds to find the strength to raise his eyes and meet Clark’s already tearful gaze.
“Whu happened…?” Jason slurred. “W’ere are we?”
“In the Watchtower.” Clark whispered, running his other hand over Jason’s greasy, shaggy hair. “Safe.”
Jason didn’t seem to actually understand anything he’d said. Just blinked slowly. A little too slowly, and Clark almost thought he was going back to sleep.
But then his gaze jerked back up, hazy and not completely there. “Joker?”
“He did this, yes.”
Jason’s eyes twitched around the room, even as he leaned into Clark’s hand still on his face. “…Mom?”
“Alive. I don’t know where.” Clark shook his head. Leaned his foot out and began softly, but urgently, tapping his foot against Dick’s shin. “She…ran off, when I got you both out.”
“Oh. Okay.”
Dick stirred, then. Grumbled a little, but sat up rubbing his eyes. It took him a second, about ten, to realize what was going on.
“Oh my god.” He was on his feet as fast as Clark had been, and practically pushed the elder out of the way to get to Jason himself, curling him protectively into his arms. “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.”
Jason’s fingers twitched in an attempt to hug Dick back, but it was all still too new, and he was still too weak.
“Dick.” Clark murmured. “Careful.”
“Yeah.” And Dick was already crying. Already practically sobbing into Jason’s hair. “Yeah, I know.”
Clark gave them that moment. Let Dick smother for a minute or two more, then carefully pulled him back by his shoulder.
“You gonna make it?” Clark joked. Dick just laughed and wiped his eyes. “Go grab whoever’s on the station for me, please? Then call Lois if you could. Let her know what’s going on.”
Dick nodded, then gave Jason one last look, as if he’d be gone by the time Dick returned, then dashed out into the hall.
Clark watched after him for a moment, as he bound happily around the Watchtower, until he once again heard the tiny, weak voice.
“…Dad?”
Clark looked back, kept his own warm, relieved smile as he stepped back up to the side of the bed. Jason’s eyes were a little clearer now. A little sadder.
“Dad, I’m so sorry.”
Clark just nodded silently as he perched on the side of the bed and wrapped one arm carefully around Jason’s shoulders. Jason collapsed against his side just as J’onn appeared in the doorway and made a beeline for the medical equipment.
Clark didn’t respond to Jason. Just gently rubbed at his shoulder and gratefully kissed his head. Held him while J’onn began his examination.
~~
It was over another month before Jason was released to even go recuperate at the farm. And even when he was, he was sent home with a laundry list of medications, physical therapy routines, and a calendar of when Justice Leaguers would be visiting for follow-ups.
But when he was released, the whole family went up to gather him. Tim, Conner and Cassie carried all his clothes and personal items, with Damian carrying a loose thing or two. Dick handled the medications. Even Lois went, and she volunteered to take all the paperwork, and threatened hell on everyone if even a single word on any of these charts was wrong.
Jon clung to Jason’s side from the moment they arrived at the Watchtower, and refused to leave it. Would whine and cry if anyone tried to pull his hand from Jason’s, and even trigged his previously-unused heat vision. So, they left him there, and he acted as Jason’s personal escort from satellite to horse stable.
They used the transporter, with Lois going before Jason to catch him on the other side, and Clark coming after. And even when they landed, Jon gleefully continued his duty, and was the one gently leading Jason across the dirt, back towards their home.
At one point, about halfway, Jason stopped, already exhausted. Jon waited patiently, staring off into the distance, waving at some birds flying overhead. Clark silently came up on Jason’s free side.
They’d already talked about it. Of course they had. What Jason had done, what he was looking for, what Clark came upon with only seconds left. They’d talked about it, and re-talked about it. They’d shouted and cried and apologized a thousand times over, and then some.
But still.
“Your family’s right here.” Clark reminded, putting a hand on Jason’s shoulder. “I know it’s a different story when it comes to biological parents and all that, but…don’t think you have to go looking for someone to love you. Not when you have all these people here who already do.”
Jason nodded, leaning into Clark’s side. “I know.” He smiled, then gave a little laugh. “Well, I know that now, anyway.”
A moment to just stare at their house, like they were a couple of old men.
“I love you, Dad.” Jason whispered. “Thanks for not giving up on me.”
Jason stepped forward again, and Jon jumped right to his side, already asking him if he was alright, that he could take another break if he wanted, that he’d bring him a burger from downtown if he wanted it, or his favorite cow from the pasture, who missed him a lot.
Clark smiled, watching the two go into the house. Then let out a long exhale and looked into the sky. Thought of Bruce, for just a moment. Thought longer about how truly lucky he was right now, in this moment.
“Never, Jay.” He promised. “Absolutely never.”

Saint Nicepherus, the Confessor
Tumblr media
He was born in Constantinople as the son of Theodore and Eudokia, of a strictly orthodox family, which had suffered from the earlier Iconoclasm. His father Theodore, one of the secretaries of Emperor Constantine V, had been scourged and banished to Nicaea for his zealous support of Iconodules, and the son inherited the religious convictions of the father. Nevertheless, he entered the service of the Empire, became cabinet secretary (asekretis), and under Irene took part in the synod of 787 as imperial commissioner. He then withdrew to one of the cloisters that he had founded on the eastern shore of the Bosporus, until he was appointed director of the largest home for the destitute in Constantinople c. 802. After the death of the Patriarch Tarasios of Constantinople, although still a layman, he was chosen patriarch by the wish of the emperor (Easter, April 12, 806). The uncanonical choice met with opposition from the strictly clerical party of the Stoudites, and this opposition intensified into an open break when Nikephoros, in other respects a very rigid moralist, showed himself compliant to the will of the emperor by reinstating the excommunicated priest Joseph....continue reading
Acts 16:16-34 NKJV
16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17 This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” 18 And this she did for many days.
But Paul, greatly [a]annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. 19 But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.
20 And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, “These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city; 21 and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe.” 22 Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. 23 And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. 24 Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
The Philippian Jailer Saved
25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. 28 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.”
29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his familywere baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.

Acts 16:18 distressed
John 9:1-38 NKJV
A Man Born Blind Receives Sight
9 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 I[a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was [b]blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”
9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, [c]“He is like him.”
He said, “I am he.”
10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”
11 He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to [d]the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”
12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?”
He said, “I do not know.”
The Pharisees Excommunicate the Healed Man
13 They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees. 14 Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. 15 Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”
16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not [e]keep the Sabbath.”
Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.
17 They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?”
He said, “He is a prophet.”
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
20 His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; 21 but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.” 22 His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
24 So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner.”
25 He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
26 Then they said to him again, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”
27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”
28 Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples. 29 We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where He is from.”
30 The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes! 31 Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. 32 Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. 33 If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”
34 They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they [f]cast him out.
True Vision and True Blindness
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of [g]God?”
36 He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”
37 And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”
38 Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him.

Desires - Hakuoki Fanfiction - Chapter 14
Tumblr media
Hi Guys! Sorry for not updating last week. I was packed with piles of works and got something to do that required my full attention. Here’s the update!
I love the scene that the picture told about. I’ve seen the scene in the movie first, Hakuoki: Kyoto Ranbu. And when Otomate also included this scene into the Shinkai series, it really makes me happy!
All the editing credit goes to @impracticaldemon and @nalufever :D
Just read and enjoy the story. Here goes!
Chapters of the story:
Prequel - Prologue - I - II - III - IV - V - VI - VII - VIII - IX - X - XI - XII - XIII - Omake

Chizuru stood in front of the stove to check if the rice was cooked enough or not.
'Hm… It needs five more minutes to be done.' After that she took the vegetables that she had washed before and began to chop them. She worked alone inside the kitchen. It wasn't her shift to work in the kitchen, but she decided to prepare the food for the others, for all the Shinsengumi's members. Why though? Because the others were busy with the preparation for the upcoming battle. The Shinsengumi were in the middle of a war, which later would be known as the Battle of Toba-Fushimi.
While preparing the food (she wanted to make onigiri), Chizuru's mind drifted to the events that happened not too long ago. In the short span of time between her encounter with Sannan and, ahem, her little intimate moment with Hijikata (she could feel the blush that crept to her cheeks; she always felt giddy and embarrassed when she remembered that event) and now, even more events had happened.
There was movement in the political world. An order was given to begin the Imperial Restoration. The Shogunate era had come to an end. The Emperor would be restored to power and his court would once again rule the nation. The position of Shogun was abolished and Kyoto's Military and Judiciary Commissioner positions were eliminated. All that the Shinsengumi had fought for and believed was falling to pieces...
Also, Kondou and Okita were wounded. Kondou got shot when he was on his way back to the Shinsengumi Headquarters from Nijo Castle. He was riding a horse with some of the members walking beside him, when out of nowhere there had been a gunshot and next thing Kondou knew his right chest was burning with pain, blood was pouring from his chest and he was collapsing onto his horse. His wound was severe enough to threaten his life back then.
No one knew who shot the bullet, but it was highly suspected that the one who did it was someone from the Satsuma and Choshu Alliance.
And for Okita... He became a rasetsu. Apparently, he heard the news of Kondō being shot. Hijikata didn't want for the First Captain of the Shinsengumi to know about this news, but word spread around the compound before the fukuchou could stop it. Then, one night when Chizuru came to Okita's room to check on his condition (Hijikata asked Chizuru to check on Okita), she found the room was empty. She also found an empty vial with small traces of its previous contents beside Okita's bed. Chizuru knew then that Okita had drunk the ochimizu and likely went out to get revenge for Kondou. Everyone that had known Okita long enough must have known his affection toward the Chief of the Shinsengumi. It wasn't a strange thing for him to seek out vengeance for Kondou Isami. Chizuru exited Okita's room and brought the empty vial. When she met Hijikata she told him the situation and showed him what she had found. The two took off immediately, looking for the newborn rasetsu. They found him unconscious on an empty street with gunshot wounds. There were also a few corpses of Satsuma and Chosu soldiers scattered around Okita's unconscious body. It looked like Okita had acted in revenge for the attach on Kondou, but the question was, who had injured the rasetsu? Later, Hijikata carried Okita to the Headquarters and he asked Yamazaki to treat Okita's wound.
When Chizuru looked at Hijikata later the same night when they stood not too far outside Okita's room, she had a hunch that the fukuchou was blaming himself inwardly. Even though his face didn't show any of his emotions, the clenched hands and the way his eyes looked straight ahead, cold and sharp at unseen enemies, showed how Hijikata was suffering inside. She wanted to ease Hijikata's heavy feelings, as he had with her previously. But she also knew that if she blatantly expressed her worries for him, he wouldn't admit it. So, in her subtle way, she dared herself to brush her hand against his clenched one. He turned his head to look at her. She didn't speak or turn her head to look back at him. She just stood in silence beside him.
Nothing happened and they were in that position for several minutes. Hijikata then turned to walk away, but Chizuru could hear the solemn word which he said only above a whisper before he left.
"Arigatou."
Since her intimate moment with Hijikata, even though her bond was still incomplete, somehow… she could feel that something had changed. Like how with just that one word she knew that Hijikata's inward turmoil had lessened, and he was not as tense and hurting as before. She knew that the man had caught the feelings that she conveyed but didn't say it out loud. That he was not alone; that he could tell her what was on his mind, if he wanted; that if he pondered on the blame and guilt too long, it wouldn't do him any good. The pull to complete the bond was there, as strong as before. But again, somehow the bond had become something that wasn't a bother anymore. Before, she always dreaded that the bond would be a hindrance and would trouble their life. She remembered the atmosphere and the high tension in the compound during the first couple of months after they had 'accidentally' bonded at Shimabara. She tried as hard as she could to control her desire to be always with Hijikata. It was hard, but she could manage it in the end.
Chizuru didn't know that the reason she could control her desire for Hijikata -at last- was because the man himself had become able to control his desire for her. Hijikata's talk with Kondou when the chief visited him in his room had helped him released a little bit of his built up tension, which had built up because of the secret that he couldn't speak of to a soul: of the fact that he and Chizuru had slept together. He could manage his feelings again after that talk. Neither realized that it was because of each other that they had managed to control their desire. And it would be only much later that these two would learn and know that their feelings were affecting each other, because of the bond.
"Ouch!" Chizuru cut one of her fingers. A trickle of blood flowed from the cut. She brought her cut finger to her mouth and sucked the blood that came out. The blood tasted bitter in her mouth; just like her feelings when the New Year came that time.
When the New Year was just around the corner, the Satsuma and Choshu Alliance formed an army and marched on the capital. There were some matters that the alliance found intolerable from the resigned Shogunate and that's why they decided to attack Kyoto. In response, the Shinsengumi moved to the Fushimi magistrate's office, and prepared for war. They had pledged their loyalty to the Shogun and they would serve their masters untill the end.
It dampened Chizuru's feelings to hear that the Shinsengumi would go to war. She had never liked violence, much less a war, where many people would get injured and some of them would lose their lives. In all her life, the time which she spent with the Shinsengumi's members was one of the happiest times of her life, but it was also one of the saddest times that she had experienced. Nevertheless, she never showed this weak side of herself to the members. She didn't have any right to be weak. She really, really, really, wanted to help the Shinsengumi. They were her family. With the little support she could offer, she tried her best to help the Shinsengumi's members for the war. Since Yamazaki was busy assisting the captains in the battle, Chizuru took over his job to treat the wounded soldiers. And she also decided to take kitchen duty as her responsibility. She wouldn't be able to help in the front line, that's why she would support the members from behind, to provide any need they might have.
Chizuru pulled her finger from her mouth. The blood had stopped flowing. And because of her being an Oni, the cut was already healed without leaving a scar. Her thoughts drifted again to her talk with Heisuke from the other night. She met the Eighth Captain of the Shinsengumi when she came to visit Okita outside his room.
"Heisuke-kun," Chizuru greeted Heisuke.
"Chizuru? What are you doing?" Heisuke asked her, while he closed the door of Okita's room.
"I came to check on Okita-san. Yamazaki-kun is busy with assisting the other captains so I thought I could take over his job to look after the others' health," answered Chizuru.
"Oh…. Souji is sleeping. I came to have a little chat with him earlier. You know, about, 'that'  thing."
Chizuru knew what Heisuke referred to, about Okita being a rasetsu now. Hijikata had asked Okita once where he got the Ochimizu, after the latter regained his consciousness and was well enough to be asked (interrogated). Sannan had denied that he was the one who gave Okita the Ochimizu. But when Hijikata asked about this, the latter didn't say whom he had received the ochimizu from. He just said that Sannan was not the one who gave him the ochimizu.
Heisuke looked at the yard in front of Okita's room. He let out a small sigh and said, "Souji told me that he drank the ochimizu and became a rasetsu because he wanted to be useful. His illness has hindered him to be useful for the Shinsengumi, for helping Kondou-san." His face turned wistful, "I know exactly how he feels about wanting to be useful for the Shinsengumi. This place… is the only place that has accepted us for who we are. The only place where we…. where I can call home." Heisuke finished in a longing tone.
Chizuru had heard the rumor about Heisuke's background story, about him being an illegitimate child from Todou's family. She didn't give much thought about the rumor. Although she couldn't do much with Heisuke's family issues, she could relate to finding the Shinsengumi a home. She knew that feeling very much.
"That's why I want to be useful for the Shinsengumi. I don't want to die yet, even though I have to become a Rasetsu in the end." Heisuke said the rasetsu word in distaste. Him becoming one didn't mean that it would change his mind of what kind of creature the rasetsu was; a monster.
Talking about Rasetsu made Chizuru remember the news that she just heard. "Heisuke-kun, is it true that Sannan-san wants to augment the Rasetsu squads?"
Heisuke turned to Chizuru with an uneasy look. His face was clouded over. "Ehm, eh, yeah…. Of course," Heisuke said in heavy tone.
"What do you think of this matter, Heisuke-kun?"
"M-me?" Heisuke was surprised by Chizuru's question. No one had ever asked his opinion about Sannan's actions regarding the Rasetsu squad. Sannan was the one that usually handled every matter that related to the rasetsu. So, he was caught off guard by Chizuru asking his opinion. "Well, I… Hmm…"
Heisuke averted his eyes from Chizuru. He looked everywhere but at the woman. Of course, he had his thoughts about this issue. He never voiced his thoughts out loud because it contradicted the things that he had done as a rasetsu and he felt that he was being a hypocrite. 'But Chizuru will never judge you for whatever things you have done.' His inner thoughts told himself. He looked back at Chizuru. The female oni was still at the same position with the same expression as when she had asked the question.
"You want my honest opinion?"
Chizuru nodded.
"I don't agree with most of Sannan-san's decisions about the rasetsu squad. But, I am a rasetsu. I did decide to drink the ochimizu, to prolong my life. But… I'm not gonna lie, I'm worried about what will happen to me. If I don't do this, what can I do? Isn't this the purpose of the existence of the rasetsu?
"The rasetsu squad already exists. We can't pretend it doesn't. And this is the right time to make the squad useful. It doesn't matter what I think of this matter. I still have to do it and I will do it."
Thinking about the rasetsu always made Chizuru feel guilty. Fortunately, she could control this feeling and didn't dwell on the guilt longer than she should; courtesy of Hijikata.
She continued her cooking while wondering how long the war would last this time - and hope that it would end soon.
---
Hijikata was in a bad mood. If not for the dire situation that they were in, he would surely follow what his mind told him to do.
To punch everyone that dared to cross their line of action. Either they were stupid or foolhardy, he didn't want to know. One thing he knew was they had tried his patience on the things that they shouldn't have.
Who was Hijikata angry with? What had they done to anger the fukuchou and turn on his oni switch?
He made a mental list of who had grated on his nerves the most, for the past several weeks.
The first was Okita.
Honestly, it wasn't a strange thing anymore for Hijikata to get annoyed with Okita. Their history had gone back to the Shieikan's time. But this time, it took the cake. The baka had turned into a RASETSU, for a reason that the fukuchou could -somehow- understand. Hijikata knew that Okita wanted to get revenged for Kondou. He also wanted to get his hands to the someone who had made Kondou like that and he would make sure the person responsible for Kondou's injury would wish for death rather than meet him. BUT, the baka had beat him to revenge. Not only that, he had been shot with a silver bullet - the weakness of the rasetsu. And for whatever damn reason, Okita didn't want to tell him who had given him the Ochimizu and who had shot him. Good thing he didn't lose his composure and strangle the sick man right there and then.
He had a hunch. The person who gave Okita the Ochimizu and later shot him with the silver bullet was the same person, whoever the jerk was.
The second was the Satsuma and Choshu Alliance.
He really didn't understand what else these greedy people still wanted. With only that silly reason, of something that they found intolerable from the resigned Shogunate, they incited a war. As soon as Hijikata heard the news, he called Saitou from his assigned duty and gathered the entire Shinsengumi group into the assembly hall to give the direct order that they would be going to Fushimi. They would prepare for war, a battle between them and the Satsuma and Choshu Alliance. Kondou was still bedridden then, so he took over as vice commander to lead the force.
How greedy and hungry for power could these people be? What else did they want? Not to mention the foreigners who were increasing each day in Kyoto, which Hijikata didn't like one bit. The war that frankly speaking should be easy, with victory was already in their hands because of their advantages, was gone, because the enemy used westerner's weapons and tactics. In the end, the Shinsengumi were at a tremendous disadvantage with their traditional weapons only; using katana and spear. If they were fighting sword against sword, the Shinsengumi would emerge as champions. Being samurais were not in name only, their skills were top notch.
Hijikata gritted his teeth and closed his eyes when he remembered the third person who had pissed him off.
In the middle of the war, when the Shinsengumi was in the Fushimi magistrate's office, an uninvited guest came. Well, two uninvited guests, to be exact.
The self proclaimed demon princess; Sen-hime and her bodyguard, the ex-maiko, Kimigiku.
The princess came to tell him about the Shinsengumi Rasetsu recent activity; of them attacking innocent people for sparring partners and of them murdering people on the street to test their strength. And it came as shocking, dismaying news to Hijikata. Sannan had told him about his thoughts of wanting to augment the squad. But he didn't know how he would augment the Rasetsu. When the fukuchou learned Sannan's method to strengthen the Rasetsu, honestly, he was speechless. Sen and Kimigiku strongly suggested that Hijikata disband the Rasetsu squad.
'It is not as easy as it sounds, damnit.'
Sannan and Heisuke, also now Okita, had become rasetsu. What should he do? What about his companions, his comrades, if he were to disband…. to kill the Shinsengumi rasetsu?
Then the princess DARED to ask Chizuru again to come and join with them. Hadn't they already covered this issue the last time these two visited the Shinsengumi? Sen-hime said that now the situation had changed (about the upcoming war). That's why she came and asked Chizuru, again, to leave the Shinsengumi and join them.
Yeah, the war would soon break out in Kyoto. Yeah, Chizuru was a woman and she would maybe get injured - or the worst, she could die (Kami forbid that). And yeah, it would probably be safer for her to go with these two female oni. He knew and understood their situations already, thank you very much.
But…
BUT!
Hijikata felt like there was a feral animal that wanted to be released from inside. Chizuru was his. No one should ever try to take her away from him. Even though this thoughts would disturb his line later, becoming so possessive and territorial over Chizuru when the woman was not really his (Chizuru was a free woman to do whatever she wanted), his instinct, his desire was the one that compelled his actions. He sent a cold and murderous glare to the two female oni. He didn't say a word. But the two must have caught his message loud and clear with the way he looked at them. In the end, Chizuru didn't go with them.
'Good riddance.'
The words flashed in Hijikata's mind when he saw Sen-hime and Kimigiku leaving the magistrate's office.
Later, for the rest of the day, Hijikata followed Chizuru around wherever she went. He even debated with himself whether he should stay at Chizuru's side, and sleep near the woman when night came. The pull to be near with Chizuru was very, extremely strong...
In the end, he opted to train his body until morning near Chizuru's room at the Fushimi magistrate's office. This or he had to take a cold bath to calm his body and mind. And with his past records, it was obvious which one he would take.
And that was the top three on Hijikata's list of who had grated on his nerves the most. No one else was brave enough to get close to the fukuchou when his oni mode was in full blast. Well, except for one person.
"Hijikata-san."
Hijikata was sitting alone at an empty table in the Fushimi magistrate's office hall. He looked to his right where Chizuru was standing, her hands carrying a tray of onigiris.
"Please take one of the onigiri," Chizuru offered to Hijikata.
He was hungry. He hadn't eaten anything since yesterday. Nevertheless, if there were food, he would prioritize wounded soldiers to be given food first. Then the other Shinsengumi members, and then the captains. He always insisted on being the last person to be look after. He was their leader, and it was his responsibility to take care of his subordinates.
"Give to the others first. I can still manage," said Hijikata.
"Don't worry, I have made enough for the entire force," replied Chizuru with a small smile. "The others won't take the food if you don't take yours first. So, please."
Hijikata contemplated Chizuru's words, then he looked around the hall. All the captains that were in the room (Harada, Saitou, Nagakura, Inoue) stood not far from Hijikata's table. They nodded to agree with Chizuru's words. His eyes returned to the woman beside him.
"What about you? Have you eaten?"
"Like I've said already, I made enough for the entire force. My share was included in the count. And yes, I have eaten my share." Chizuru assured Hijikata.
Growl~
"Shinpachi, can't you do something about that sound?" Sano teased his fellow captain. The growling sound was from Nagakura's stomach.
"Shut up! I can't help if I'm hungry and my stomach is asking to be fed," complained the Second Captain of the Shinsengumi. "Hijikata-san, please take the onigiri. If not, the others will not let me eat. And we know that you haven't eaten anything today. If you don't want to be confined in the same room with Souji, you'd better take care of your body in this bloody war."
Saitou nudged Nagakura with the hilt of his sword for his disrespectful way of talking to the fukuchou - hard.
"Itai!" yelped the brawny man, "What the hell was that for, Saitou?!"
"Please take the onigiri, fukuchou," said Saitou, ignoring Nagakura's exclamation.
"Toshi-san, Isami-san won't be happy if you neglect your health," added Inoue.
Hijikata sighed, and in the end took one of the onigiri, but he didn't eat.
"I will take one then," said Hijikata in a solemn tone. "Thank you for the food, Yukimura."
"You are welcome, Hijikata-san. Don't forget to eat the food." Chizuru walked to the other captains to give them their shares of onigiri.
Hijikata's eyes followed Chizuru's movements until the woman was out of his sight. He looked at the onigiri in his hand.
It was warm…
And somehow his bad mood had lessened a bit.
---
Growl~
"As I thought, you were lying when you said that you'd eaten already."
Chizuru whipped her head around to look at the voice's owner who stood not far behind her. The woman knew by heart who the voice belonged to without looking. "Hijikata-san."
Chizuru had been washing the dishes that she had used for her cooking at the back of the magistrate's building. Then suddenly her stomach had let out a growling sound - that was when Hijikata had come into the picture. She felt her cheeks turn red, embarrassed from getting caught in her lie.
"Sorry..."
Chizuru didn't realize that the fukuchou had followed her since she'd left the hall to distribute the rest of the onigiris. Something had told Hijikata that Chizuru was lying to him when she'd said that she had eaten.
"What are you saying sorry for?" Hijikata approached Chizuru, "It's me who should say sorry for not realizing your burden."
"I'm okay!" Chizuru said frantically, "You don't have to worry about me. And… I'm not lying when I said I've eaten. It's just…" Chizuru looked at her fidgeting feet.
"Just what?"
"Just… Not enough to satiate my hunger." Her cheeks got more red at her little confession. They were in the middle of a war. They didn't know how long the war would last and their supplies of food were limited. She prioritized the Shinsengumi over herself - she could manage, and so far no one else had noticed her actions.
'I'm not a good liar to begin with. How foolish of me to think that I can deceive a perceptive man like Hijikata-san with my lies.' Chizuru berated herself inwardly.
"Is that the truth, or are you just getting better at telling lies?" Hijikata inquired.
"It's the truth," Chizuru looked up into Hijikata's inquiring eyes, "I was never good at telling lies and you know it." For any lies the woman had ever told Hijikata, most of it was found out immediately - especially if he was the one that she had lied to. This time was no exception.
"Okay, I believe you," said Hijikata. Then he reached from inside of his haori and took out the onigiri from before. He handed the food to Chizuru, "Eat this."
"No! That's your share! You haven't eaten anything since yesterday." Chizuru rejected the offer and shook her head vigorously. "I'm okay, Hijikata-san. It's not a big deal. I have been able to hold my hunger since the war started and I know I can also manage this time too."
Hijikata raised one of his eyebrows at Chizuru's last sentence. "You have been holding back your hunger this whole time?"
Chizuru bit her lower lip. It hadn't been her intention to let Hijikata know about this information. In her panicked state of imagining Hijikata would not eat, Chizuru's mind jumbled and she didn't filter her words. It would be terrible if he gave his food to her and failed to replenish his energy; this was very dangerous while they were in a war.
Even though it was subtle, she could hear the angry tone that laced Hijikata's tone.
"...Sorry."
Hijikata wanted to face-palm.
"Don't say sorry if you don't mean the word," reprimanded the fukuchou, "Next time, if you feel hungry, don't cut your shares for the others. This is an order."
"...I understand," said Chizuru in a meek voice.
Hijikata opened his shares of onigiri (it was covered with a bamboo leaves) and divided the food into two. He ate one part and gave the other to Chizuru, "Now, eat this."
"But-"
"Or should I shove it into your mouth?" Hijikata ignored Chizuru's protest. He stared at the petite woman unblinking.
Chizuru took the rest of the onigiri from Hijikata's hand reluctantly. She stared into Hijikata's hard gaze. "Arigatou-gozaimashu," Chizuru said. She took a little bite of the ongiri. When she swallowed the food, she then realized how hungry she was. In less than a minute the onigiri was gone.
Hijikata wanted to laugh at how eagerly Chizuru took every bite.
'She looks like a chipmunk with those puffy red cheeks when she ate,' Hijikata thought amusedly. When Chizuru finished the food, she didn't realize there were some grains of rice stuck to her cheeks. Hijikata stretched his right hand and wiped the rice from Chizuru's cheeks.
"You eat like there's no tomorrow, you know," Hijikata said with a wry smile, while he ate the leftover rice. The gesture made Chizuru's cheeks redden (she swore she was a living tomato from the red of her cheeks) if that was possible. A beautiful shade of red, in Hijikata's mind.
"...Sumimasen," said Chizuru, embarrassed.
"It's good that you know. Just don't try this foolish act again. You are part of the Shinsengumi. We will survive this war together. I promise."
'It will be over my dead body if I let something to happen to you.'
"Hai," replied Chizuru.
"And don't over exert yourself," Hijikata patted Chizuru's head then turned to leave the woman.
"You too Hijikata-san."
Hijikata didn't turn around to reply and kept walking. He waved one of his hands instead and that was a good enough answer for Chizuru.
"Please be safe," Chizuru whispered her quiet prayer, "all of you."
---
During the war, the Fushimi magistrate's office was set on fire and the Shinsengumi had no choice but to retreat from Kyoto. Cannons pounded the Fushimi magistrate's office and the ground of the building shook with each impact. The situation was terrifying.
The decision to retreat was a hard one. Hijikata had to swallow a bitter pill making that decision. If they got stubborn and stayed to continue the war, the Shinsengumi could be wiped out. It was a dire life or death situation. All the captains said to Hijikata that the situation was not in their favor. They had done all they could, but the result was negative. There was nothing else they could do…. Except retreat. They were helpless against the firearms of the Satsuma and Chosu Alliance.
The Shinsengumi was Hijikata's life. His and Kondou's dream. That's why being defeated was hard to accept. The fukuchou ordered the retreat with a long, ragged sigh. His knuckles turned white. His eyes were burning with fury.
"We're pulling back," commanded Hijikata, "But we haven't lost. They will pay for this."
Chizuru didn't know if the others noticed Hijikata's eyes were not only burning with fury. She could see the bitter and desperate agony behind those purple eyes.
They couldn't win this war alone. They needed reinforcements. Hijikata's intention was to send Yamazaki or Shimada to ask Yodo Castle for help. The castle's master was known to have an allegiance with the Shogunate after all.
"Please, let me be the one to ask for the reinforcements."
The woman had heard the conversation from the beginning. To be honest, all the members were exhausted and barely had energy to walk back to headquarters. Not to mention many of them were injured. That's why she offered herself for this task.
"No," Hijikata answered.
"Please, Hijikata-san!" implored Chizuru, "Please, let me help! It's not a hard task. I just have to go to the castle and ask for Yodo's master to send reinforcements. It's not like I'll be throwing away my life or have to fight a dangerous enemy."
"..." Hijikata furrowed his brows, deep in thought.
"Toshi-san, I will go with Yukimura-kun," said Inoue, cutting into Hijikata's thoughts. "It should be okay if one of the captains go, isn't it? Even though it's just me."
"...Alright. I will wait for the good news you two will bring." Hijikata agreed in the end with a heavy heart. Chizuru and Inoue soon departed for Yodo Castle.
There was this uneasy feeling that tugged at Hijikata's heart. The fukuchou hoped that his decision to let Chizuru go to Yodo Castle to ask for reinforcements was the correct one.
He didn't know how wrong he would be. Not long after Chizuru and Inoue left the magistrate's office, Hijikata received news that the master of the Yodo Castle had changed his allegiance from the Shogunate to the Imperial forces.
He felt his heart drop to his stomach. He left to go after Chizuru and Inoue after hearing the news. He had never run as fast as he did at that moment.
'CHIZURU!'
 To be continued
