SURPRISE: YUUSHA GAINS MAGIC (By absorbing the Magic around her & dealing with Overblots)! Even better, she doesn't need a Mage Stone to control it! What would Yuusha's Unique Magic be & how does she use it? How would Jamil react?

HELPPP anon your random thought sent me down into a rabbit hole and i was hyperfixated on this for at least a WEEK 😭

anyways i also had an agonizing realization that yuusha is somewhat twisted elsa/anna because she has:

braid in front ✅

light-colored hair streak ✅

love interest that used her for his schemes ✅

desire to connect with people bc of years of loneliness (and emotional instability) ✅

unresolved childhood trauma in general ✅

(and probably more idk, these are the ones that stand out to me at the moment)

i haven't thought about frozen for YEARS and somehow it's still haunting me.

i have a lot of mixed feelings about this realization in general but the reason i brought this up is because i ended up basing yuusha's unique magic on frozen (not the ice powers part, but more the emotions aspect since elsa's powers work based on her emotions) while also still having aspects of yuu's own personality on it.

(also I'm sorry in advance i keep on dropping random lore about yuu and jamil's dynamic that only makes sense to myself hndsfhdsj)

"Show Yourself" forces the target to say what's actually on their mind as long as she touches them. Since she's not particularly powerful and skilled with her own unique magic in the beginning, it's limited to skin-to-skin contact, and it only lasts for as long as she's touching her target.

If Yuu trained it more, it doesn't have to be skin-to-skin, just as long as she makes some kind of physical contact with her target; and it could last for as long as she wants even if she is no longer making physical contact. (But the longer she keeps it up, the more blot accumulates.) Yuusha would mostly just use her unique magic to mess with people. It'll only be rare that she chooses to use it for something serious.

To add more onto how Jamil would react to these magic shenanigans: They've both agreed on not using their unique magic on each other. To do so would be a breach of trust. (Of course there would be special exceptions but generally that's their agreement.) And since Jamil is still a scheming prick (affectionate), her "Show Yourself" unique magic would be useful. Plus, Yuu would not be against using her unique magic 99% of the time since she is also aware of the usefulness of her ability. Jamil would insist on helping Yuu out on how to use her magic because there was no way she'd get the hang of it immediately. And he knows she would refuse to ask any other (capable) magician for help.

An alternate idea that I scrapped was "Let It Go" where it's essentially Yuu telling her target to let go of their (usually negative) emotions. But those feelings can't just disappear so Yuu basically absorbs them so now it's her burden to carry instead. I scrapped it because I can't settle on how it works. (But it still had angst potential so I couldn't help but draw a bit about it anyway.)

(extra rambling below about yuusha overblot thoughts if anyone's interested hdlfhjgj)

this is a brief tangent from the original question because i also thought, "hey what if she overblotted, wouldn't that be fun"

i could see the overblot going in either two ways:

yuu accidentally hurts grim (or another friend) with her magic. she’s so distraught thinking that even with magic she can't protect those who are dear to her. and so during the overblot she will not actively try to hurt anyone but instead exhausting her magic reserves in an intentional attempt at self-destruction. (yes i also see the frozen parallels shhhh)

OR

something happens that was simply THE LAST STRAW. now she’s too pissed at everyone that she no longer cares about what happens to her or anyone else, going on a destructive rampage. which can also be considered an intentional attempt at self-destruction.

either way, basically, if she can’t go home she’s just going to take herself out and/or the school instead. the girl is not okay.

(there's actually nothing good she can home to, but she's convinced she'll be happy again if she returns. but she doesn't know that because she can't remember shit about her home. that's a separate lore dump post hgdsjfkld)

also the blot monster behind her would look something like marshmallow (elsa's snow monster from frozen) :)

(i also used to have a similar idea for yuusha. i planned to have her be immune to magic *because* she was absorbing it and she didn't realize. leading to an inevitable overblot) (but i scrapped it because yuusha became my victim for jamil x yuu stuff) (like if i can't have the excuse to have jamil use snake whisper on yuu then what is the point)

a/n: first fic of this series ahhh! i can't wait to write all the fics and explore writing for other characters along the way. i really hate this but i hope it's good enough?

Y/N WAKES UP on her bed, staring up at the ceiling as she thinks about the events taking up just a few hours ago. she fell asleep quite quickly but then woke up suddenly. she looks over to her the boy beside her, his back faced to her but that didn't stop her from admiring him. his messy blonde hair, his beautiful pale skin in the little light the slytherin dungeon windows had to offer, and the little moles scattered around his body. she feels a smile form on her face as she falls asleep again.

y/n wakes up and looks around the room, thankful for the fact that she was actually able to sleep well. she gets up and realizes her lover wasn't beside her like usual. she yawns and walks over to the bathroom, knocking on the door. "draco, are you in there?" she yawns again, rubbing her eyes a little before the door opens slightly and what a sight it was. draco stood there, his hair damp from his shower. she felt her cheeks warm up.

"morning, love. enjoying the view?" he smirks, an eyebrow raised. she blushes more and walks over to the sink, getting ready for the day with draco clinging onto her from behind, admiring her in the mirror. as soon as both of them are ready they walk out of the dorms and into the great hall, suddenly gazes from other students catch the lovers eyes but they don't mind them. instead they walk over to their friends, draco kisses y/n's cheek before sitting down beside her.

"hello, lovebirds. word travels pretty fast y'know." theo chuckles, taking a sip of his pumpkin juice. y/n looks up at him and clears her throat, "please don't tell me we were that loud.." her eyes were slightly wide. she swore that they use muffilato but at the same time she didn't remember doing so. "you weren't that loud, unless you count traumatizing first years and us having to explain to them what the fuck you were doing in the most child friendly way- then yeah." pansy says calmly.

y/n's eyes widen and draco chokes on his drink, they both look over at eachother, both equally as flustered as the other. theo and lorenzo burst out laughing, suddenly remembering the looks on the first years faces as pansy tried to explain to them what they were doing. "don't worry, mate. i'm sure those kids will forget about it." blaise tries to reassure them, trying not to laugh alongside his friends.

draco rolls his eyes and sighs, "yeah, yeah. anyways, i was planning on having another party tonight in the room of requirement. seeing as we're all tense with school lately it seems like we need one." everyone nods in agreement.

since it was the weekend everyone decided to split up, the boys would get the supplies and the girls would get the drinks and a few snacks if they wished. it took them a while to get there since y/n and draco wouldn't part ways but after a while they finally did and so they were off.

"so, how's being with draco so far? i know it was your first time doing it with him and- he seems to know what he was doing." pansy chuckles as y/n playfully slaps her arm. "oh shut up! i mean he was good to be fair." she laughs alongside pansy. "but yeah he's amazing and i'm already madly in love. i know it's almost been a month but i feel like we could be more in the future." she smiles. suddenly she cant seem to get draco out of her head, blushing at the thought of his smile and his eyes and just everything about him.

"i guess you could say you're in that lavender haze." y/n's brows furrowed as she looks over at pansy, both of them still walking to the three broomsticks. "what's that mean?" pansy shrugs and looks over at her. "some muggle term that means to be madly in love with someone. i saw it when i was studying with mione and got bored." y/n raises her brows and hums. "makes sense." they both walk into the three broomsticks and grab the things they needed.

pansy decided to bring the drinks to the room of requirement so y/n would have time to get ready. as she walks back to the dorms she spots a group of girls gossiping and something caught her attention.

"she's definitely just a one time thing. i mean, i get they've been together for almost a month but trust me. as soon as this year is over, he will leave her for me."

she frowns a little but shrugs it off, she was madly in love with draco and as much as she had her doubts she knew he would never do such a thing.

y/n and draco walk into the room of requirement and the party is already bustling with different students, some younger years were able to sneak in but the older years didn't mind as long as they didn't drink anything alcoholic. they might be enjoying the party but they weren't that irresponsible.

they both walk over to their friends hand in hand and sit with them. they grab drinks that were already on the table and cuddle on the couch, y/n on draco's lap as they look around the room. draco rests his head on her shoulder and mumbles, "we haven't talked much today, love. what's on your pretty little mind, hm?" he sips his drink, waiting for her answer.

"not much..just heard a couple of girls gossiping about us. saying that i would be some type of one night to you." she mumbles back, she shrugs it off as usual but draco sits up properly with her. "really? well first of all those girls are absolute idiots. I would never leave you for I am already madly in love with you, I think about you all the time. second, the opposite thing happened to me. when i was grabbing the cups with theo he asked me if i would ever propose to you."

she blushes and laughs. "really? we still have loads of time for that." draco chuckles and kisses her neck. "that's what i told him, even smacked his head for that." they both laugh with a smile, one cuddling the other. suddenly the dance floor fills up with smoke, the lights turning into a lavender like color. a lavender haze.

y/n laughs and walks over to the dance floor with draco right behind her. they both laugh as they dance around like idiots, they loved being fools together. draco picks y/n up by the waist and kisses her passionately, their eyes shut softly.

they just wanted to stay in that lavender haze.
