I'm about to complete the rewatch of Bleach. I still got so mad at Urahara for backstabbing Aizen lmaooo. Like, Ichigo and Aizen were having an epic fight, Ichigo used the Final Getsugatensho and was sure Aizen was done for. But then my mans gets up and says "you lose Kurosaki Ichigo" only for Urahara's bitchass to show up and say "gotcha". It's so annoying. I truly felt it when Aizen said "I despise you, Kisuke Urahara" because in that moment, I did too. SMH.

Got Ichigo on the brain tonight y’all. This thought came to me a bit earlier. Inspired by events in the most recent (sub) episode of tybw. But like :(((((.

Ichigo is a tough guy. We know this. Stupid strong, but also has the biggest heart. He generally vibes and marches to the beat of his own drum but he is also literally the most caring dude you will ever meet. Evidenced by how many people he is willing to protect. Friends, family, complete strangers and even former enemies.

Just thinking about chilling and watching movies or tv shows with him. Thinking about the kind of stuff he watches or like what other people would think he watches.

He’ll enjoy an action movie. He might be a little confused at times, but he’ll get into a thriller. Watching sci-fi has him questioning whether or not certain things actually would be possible given his other worldly experiences. Horror most of the time doesn’t affect him much. He’s got nerves of steel. He’ll roll his eyes at certain tropes, but smooth small circles into you when you cling to him at a scary scene; kiss your head when you jump.

When most people are sucked deeper into the fictional storylines of a film or episode when catastrophe strikes, Ichigo wants to run away. In a horror movie meant to be scary or fucked up, he’s fine. But when it comes to having to witness a replication of genuine human suffering, he has a rough time…

If it happens to animated he normally does fine. But when it’s acted out by real people, it really troubles him.

The sounds of people running and screaming, cars honking, families crying as they hold onto their children as some unforeseen danger suddenly appears in a city that seems to spell the end of all things in a film here. Someone absolutely begging for their life as they are powerless and about to killed in some brutal way in a tv show there. Even if a resolution that saves them comes shortly after, just that moment has him shaken. The sounds of someone being tortured and/or dying in one of the most painful ways. A character being forced to witness their home (be that a building, a colony, place in nature, a country, or the world at large) be burned to the ground with no hope of saving it.

All of these things in media make him vastly uncomfortable. His palms start to sweat. He feels his jaw clench. He becomes conscious of the way he swallows his saliva. He needs to grip on something. Normally it’s his shirt if he’s alone. But if he’s with you, it’s your hand.

In any other situation he normally sits through it and gets to the next scene with a few breaths. But if you are around, he allows himself to avert his eyes. He doesn’t close them, but he looks at your lap instead with slightly furrowed brows as he listens to it to get the context he’s missing. He bites his lip when he feels you squeeze his hand in support.

The moment the scene is over, if where you are allows it, you embrace him and kiss his forehead. If not, you kiss his hand. And his eyes flutter every time, closing for a moment as if to ground himself again with your gentle touch. He’ll squeeze either you or your hand depending on the situation in thanks.

He’s experienced many a situation that in some ways parallel these types of scenes and faced them head on in the past, but it feels entirely different when in this media he is watching there really is absolutely nothing he can do to help those people. That feeling of helplessness makes him want to wither away.
