i blocked anon but im still posting this so i can say: disability is a regular part of life and i love normalising it. anon’s desperation to separate Normal from Aberrant is a eugenicist mindset

and while i’m on my soapbox, I’m so fucking over the use of ‘brain damage’ as a sensationalist troll buzzword. you can say it’s not that deep, but cmon. insults do not exist in a magical vacuum outside of social context. insults are a common means to further socially punish marginalised groups. anon is a prime example of someone capitalising on social imbalances to use as insult currency (usually to make up for a poor sense of self—anon might feel worthless, but at least they can prove they’re better than the Abnormals). ableism is a suuuper cheap way to exert power over others using existing frameworks of bigotry. anon didn’t put work into this ask, they just took glee in furthering a stigma that was already there. it’s clear to me that when ppl throw around language like this, the ableism isn’t a side effect, it’s the whole point. anon isn’t saying “I hope something bad happens to you!”, they’re saying “i hate disabled ppl, also i’m describing you as a dog because i think disabled ppl are less than human”.

anyway it’s 2am and i’m rambling. disability is a normal part of life. brain damaged people are whole, complex, beautiful humans. ableism is an oft-socially-sanctioned tool of hatred. bye

also on the topic of creators becoming too parasocial with their own audience- I feel like this is a huge issue in mcyt in general. and people talk about smaller mcytbers spreading rumors about dteam that are all end up being random and unfounded, and we are like oh these people are so annoying and petty! but I think there is an underlying problem of people being too tuned into their audience and absorbing their perceptions of other ccs as their own. and if your audience is constantly talking about how terrible this person is, even if you act civil and normal when interacting with them in events and cons, that effects the way you see them. and what you believe about them.

and this is part of why I think it's so ridiculous to try to engage in discourse with ccs in dteams circle because this is a part of the problem in the first place. no interpersonal issues have ever been solved with a well worded call out post from a stan

Being aromantic isn't like being colourblind because you "have a narrower human experience 😢" or "you see the world in black and white 💔" or whatever but being aromantic is exactly like being colourblind because most people don't even know what it is and most people who think they do have the complete wrong idea. Because our society is not designed for people like us but no "allies" take our issues seriously. Because I'm still not even sure if people want us in their communities. Because whenever you tell someone you know you're going to be asked the same stupid questions. Because people in fandom love to use you as a cool quirk to add to characters without respecting what it actually means. Because my life would be marginally better if everyone spent just 5 minutes reading about it on google. But hey it's not all negative you also get a unique outlook on life and an appreciation for beauty outside the norm.

Ya know when people told me "when you're finally safe enough that you can leave survival mode and start to let go of and process your c-ptsd/trauma things are probably going to get really, really bad before they slowly start to get better" I thought that was reasonable. I did not understand that by "things are going to get bad" they meant "you're going to find yourself in the worst mental state of your entire life, but dw, that means it's working" and tbh I simply wish someone had been more clear.

Edit: If everyone could please take a minute and think about what it must feel like to be struggling and then have multiple strangers say to your face that they find the prospect of going through what you're going through so horrifying that they'd rather kill themselves and then stop leaving comments like that I would greatly appreciate it.

i keep seeing this idea that Real wheelchair users all have custom active chairs, and that transport/standard chairs are just an embarrassing stereotype. “no one really uses those!” “stop drawing disabled characters in standard chairs!!”

well, plenty of us are a stereotype. sorry. custom chairs require MONEY and good medical support. meanwhile active chairs are unusable for some people. i used an uncomfy transport chair (the kind with tiny wheels and no way to self propel) for a year, and a standard chair for 7yrs. until i got my powerchair i was only ever pushed by a carer. a lot of disabled people will never use an active or custom chair. don’t pretend we don’t exist just because we don’t fit some cool independent ideal.
