This is a bit of a ranty post but I felt like it was important.

If you genuinely believe that young people embracing an aesthetic as a lifestyle is dangerous and should be condemned you need to reevaluate your motives. Gen z in particular had taken a liking to many specific sub-communities that have existed for hundreds if not thousands of years in the case of Dark Academia etc. and we have all heard the argument against it too many times before. We have been. Lectured on the idea of “bad-faith” and how it is unsafe to morph our lifestyles and interests around a specific aesthetic and how the gatekeeper mentality leads to a narcissistic protection of ones individuality but maybe it’s just me but I find these arguments (mostly coming from millenials) to be incredibly pretentious! Why are you to attack the interests of teenagers who are simply trying to find themselves in communities available to them. This is the very same mentality that caused millenials and gen x to smoke and drink underage and conform to specific cliques in their schools, THE DIFFERENCE is that dressing and experiencing live through the romanticized view of an aesthetic doesn’t actually hurt ANYONE! If you wish to claim that groups like Dark Academia tend to be exclusionary toward women and people of color then you are simply not looking for it, platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram have incredible women of color embracing whatever aesthetic they want because they CAN! If you are trapped in your belief system that these aesthetics are exclusionary that comes from ignorance alone. Lastly, if your concern about aesthetic communities is that it is causing teenagers to feel forced into a box, maybe you should consider that teenagers are a little bit more independent than you give them credit for because personally I would never allow myself to be restricted by the confines of an online community and I doubt many people would. It is unnecessary and unfair that we are punishing our teenagers for exploring their interests when all they are trying to do is make their lives feel a little more bearable.

I personally think it’s really weird how Tommy slowly decided to get over his hatred for Ranboo even though Tubbo has continued to put less effort into the friendship. I personally just miss the Tubbo that would have given his last canon life for Tommy during the final battle with Dream for the disks. Tommy is a forgiving person and it shows maturity for him to befriend Ranboo but there are still issues having to do with Tubbo that I feel need to be addressed.
