Hello!! If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your process for making backgrounds (if you have any process in particular!) They’re one of my favorite parts of the comic, and I’m interested to hear how you decide colors and stuff!

I sadly don't have a lot to say about this bc half the time i just raw dog the colors. I rely on complimentary colors (primarily orange/yellow and blue/purple, which is a fun secondary effect since Lain and Mariner are also yellow and blue) but if I want a very specific vibe I will often colorpick from pictures since I have a bit of trouble straying from my love of desaturated colors a lot of the time LOL.

These were some scene preps I did for a couple of later scenes! I tried to find some where I made a couple of moodboard pictures to get the vibe down but i guess i deleted all of those whoops.

as for drawing them, i don't have a lot of tips on the actually RENDERING part (i'm a very bad teacher) but here's a breakdown of how i generally draw the bgs in wac

bgs in comics are really an important aspect to me personally. the way I treat and approach bgs is to not treat them as just window dressing but instead treat them as an additional character. What is the bg conveying, whether it be a specific location, a vibe, or in terms of a den or a room or whatever, what can it tell us about the character it belongs to? I will admit I haven't done this as much as I would've liked to in WAC so far, but I hope that as the story progresses I can strive to put more life into the backgrounds. It's a little bit trickier since they are kitties living in a nature environment and not humans in houses, but I still hope to create that same sense of importance.

and I know backgrounds are often seen as "the worst part" of art, but I wholeheartedly believe you just need to figure out how YOU enjoy creating backgrounds. I love drawing them! I used to paint backgrounds for years before realizing I hated it so bad. Now I prefer this much blockier style and I love lining bgs. I highly recommend just sitting down, and doing some studies of photos of landscapes, of cities, or whatever else you want your bgs to be. appreciate the little details, figure out how to simplify them for yourself, think about the big picture of things, and it'll go a long way.

Then I’ll go back to your commission. When the flat colors will be set on your drawing, I’ll send it to you so you can check if it’s okay. If it is, I’ll go back to it and I’ll finish it!

Hi flower!!! Great to have you back and I’m glad you are doing well!! Just letting you know that LB continues to rotate around in my head like a rotisserie chicken so I have some more art!

I’ve had this as a wip for months, I hate backgrounds but I finally finished it! Loved the scenes of them in the forest! You can really tell how much they like being together!

After I finished it the first time I reread the chapter and remembered that they were covered in mud lol so hereis that edited version! I love re-reading your story I wish I could read it for the first time again and I am forever great-full that you continue to work on this fanfic! I eat up anything you write!

Lastly I was practicing not drawing same face syndrome so I practiced with the bunker group! I have some more silly drawings that I’ll share later but welcome back! I also have had some problems with art block but drawing the LB characters is always such fun!

(I love that my boy Jim is just chillin’ in the background. Ya’ll haven’t even met him yet and he’s already making headlines I can just see it now, “Breaking News! I also want to add if you’ve ever seen Creature Cases, there’s an episode where Director Scratch dissapears and Sam and Kit have to work together to figure out where she went. I’m just saying the woman is a ninja, she’d be one step ahead of any kidnapper who TRIED.

Emma is also the kind of woman that will absolutely get you kidnapped, but its okay because she’s also the woman to get you out of it . . . Can you tell this has happened several times before? If her friends aren’t sick of her, then her team DEFINITELY is! (lol)

(I will apologize now, I’m still figuring out how to simplify Emma’s colors. Because, if you don’t know, Emma is a Maned Wolf and they have such pretty shades of red and brown in their coats! I just wanna add ‘em all! One day I’ll solidify her markings so it isn’t so off. I’m not good at colors okay??? Even my Kindergarten teacher knew I didn’t like them!!! My mom had to ask her if it was okay for me NOT to do the coloring part of the homework because I thought it was so dumb! This is WHY I’m a default sketch artist! Pencils don’t have color! I HATE color theory!!! GAHHHHHH!!!!)

The full Donkey Kong Country cast! Except the ones I couldn't be bothered to draw! Let's get on with them. (DK and Candy were in the second batch)

Diddy and Dixie remain mainly the same, though Diddy I based off his movie design solely because I couldn't get the crop top to look right. Still a couple as indicated by their matching nail polish.

Cranky has a vest and sweatpants under the red shawl he has in the movie, while Wrinkly I gave a similar setup but in green and with a sundress. She's still dead in my 'verse, but her ghost appears in this design instead of a nightgown.

Chunky and Kiddy! Since in my 'verse everyone's a little older Kiddy goes from a toddler to a kindergarten/first-grade aged kid, who is still just huge for no reason. Chunky is his big brother around Diddy's age and since the movie portrayed Chunky as having some peach fuzz I gave him a bit of scruff on his chin. He ended up pretty cute I must say!

I'VE ALWAYS HATED TINY KONG'S HAT. IT'S SO UGLY. So I fully removed it from my design lol. I kept the same general idea of her teen design but aged it down just a smidge so you can easily tell Dixie's the older one of the 2, while also making her blonde hair dyed for some extra variety. instead of a crop tank top and sweatpants she has an off-the-shoulders top and a skort for some extra variation.

As for Lanky Kong I leaned into his namesake, and if he looks just a SMIDGE evil that's because I had TheMentok's video on the Kongs in the background as I drew and that might've influenced me just a tad lol.

Funky my beloved! I went full into his original full-surfer design, to get something different since Funky canonically hates going adventuring. I gave him a belly gained from just chilling on the beach most days lol. Also he has hair now! With him I set out to not just make him a clone of DK that wears clothes.

Lastly, King K. Rool and Lord Fredrik! With K.Rool I mixed his regular design with his Super Mario Sluggers design and also gave him a LOOOOOONG tail because crocodile. He wears a cuirass over his chest and gut. As for Fredrik all I did was give him some boots his design was strong enough already.

Now for extra 'verse lore: K.Rool rules Kremling Island, Fredrik rules the nearby Snowmad Island. these two alongside the Kong Isles form the Jungle Archipelago Kingdom. All three nations have beef with each other but since the recent Peace Treaty between the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms they've moved to a "cold war" sort of status where no one is openly hostile to one another but they still hate each other lol.

Alignment: part one

Lo’ak x Fem!Reader (platonic)

Eywa finally hears Lo’ak’s pleas for her to bring his brother back but instead of a brother, Lo’ak receives howling winds with lashing rain and a warrior… who eats people?

➴ Warning: mentions of death, loss, mourning, mental health and violence. Let me know if I’m missing anything.

➴ Note: I kind of hate this lol. I wrote and rewrote it so many times. I wanted to give a background into the Sully family before getting into the story but... Yeah idk. Also, I was thinking of naming the reader but I’m not sure. Let me know what you think.

Losing a loved one is not a pain you wouldn't want anyone to endure. The feeling of emptiness that fills you, a hollow ache in your chest that continues to grow as time passes. It is said that time heals all wounds, but if you asked Lo’ak, he would stare you dead in the eye and tell you that it’s complete and utter bullshit.

It wasn’t until about a month after Neteyam died that it started to show that the Sully family dynamic had begun to shift. The whole family was in mourning, and they were all dealing with it differently.

Jake Sully, the ‘head’ of the family, had been reduced to a shadow of himself. The air of authority that he usually carried with him had dwindled. A frown had been etched onto his face, not one of disappointment that Lo’ak was used to seeing. At the moment of Neteyam’s death, it was like a switch was flicked in Jake; he became very cold and distant. But once it was over and the family was back in the village, washing Neteyam’s body, the switch flicked again, and Jake was inconsolable.

Some nights, Lo’ak could hear his father step away from the family marui to cry. Although he wasn’t wailing loudly, drawing attention to himself, Lo’ak could hear his father sob into his hands and ask Eywa what he had done in his past life to have his son taken away from him and why the people around him always had to suffer. During the day, Jake seemed to speak no louder than a whisper. As time passed, Jake could still be found being strict with his family, but it didn’t hold the same weight as his voice would sometimes waver. It can be assumed that Jake had become more compassionate towards his children, but it was sad that it took the death of his eldest child for him to get here.

Neytiri had a different reaction to her mate. She cried for the first few days, holding Neteyam’s songcord between her fingers. As time passed, she would venture out of the marui, going on short walks as if on autopilot. Neytiri has kept all of Neteyam’s things where he had left them. His bow and arrows leaning up in the corner, his sleep mat rolled up next to them. Some days, Neytiri would stare at them, hoping her eldest son would walk through the entrance and make use of his things. After a month, Neytiri began to keep a closer eye on her children, ensuring she always knew where they were and when they’d be back. She was strict and was quick to scold her children if she believed that they had done something wrong. Her voice was strong and stern. It held the weight that Jake’s didn’t.

Poor, poor Tuk, although everyone in the Sully family had changed. It was Tuk’s reaction that broke hearts. At first, she seemed to be coping well, as well as a 7-year-old could after such a traumatic experience. She was still interacting normally with her family and those in the village. Some would say that she is in denial and trying to convince herself that nothing has happened. That nothing had changed. Her family hadn’t seen her cry since the funeral, as far as they could recall. But one day, that changed, one day, it was as if she couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tuk and Tsireya were spending the afternoon together; as they climbed over the rocks, Tuk’s bracelet got caught. At first, she tried to dislodge it gently, but it wouldn’t budge, she tried again, but nothing.

“‘Reya, help,” she pleaded while trying to tug on her wrist a little harder.

“Hold on Tuk, I’m co-“

Tsireya didn’t get to finish what she was going to say. Tuk’s arm came jerking back, beads falling around her and the empty string slowly slid off of her wrist. There was a pause of pure silence where Tsireya watched as Tuk’s face morphed from the initial shock to her closing her mouth, and she started to chew on her bottle lip as her eyes began to well up with tears.

“Tuk, I-“

A great sob escaped the young girl as she dropped to her knees, her hands trembling as she tried to collect the stray beads in front of her. She began to search more frantically, her head whipping around.

“No… no… no!” She cried, “It’s gone, Neteyam’s charm. It’s gone! It’s not here!”

Tuk let out the most painful, heartbreaking cry as she covered her eyes. Tsireya didn’t know what to do. Her chest tightened as she made her way over to Tuk’s side, wrapping an arm around her and bringing the small girl close.

Tsireya noticed Lo’ak walking along the shore with Rotxo, she desperately tried to get their attention. Luckily she did, and she watched as the two boys sprinted over, climbing over the rocks with no difficulty. Lo’ak was by Tuk’s side in seconds.

“Shh Tuk, it’s okay,” Lo’ak said softly as he took his sister into his arms.

Tuk jerked back, looking her brother in the eye as more tears made their way to the surface.

“It’s not okay! Nothing will ever be okay! Neteyam made it. He made it, and I broke it! It’s gone! He’s gone!” Tuk screamed

A gut-wrenching sob tore through her body as Lo’ak hugged her tighter. Tears gathered in the corner of his eyes as he tried to soothe his sister.

Later that night, just after eclipse, Rotxo came to the Sully family marui with a soft smile on his lips as he presented Tuk with a bracelet and her brother's charm dangling in the middle.

“I know it’s not the same. I didn’t manage to find all of the beads, but I found the charm, so-“

Rotxo was cut off by Tuk barrelling into him, her arms wrapping around his waist.

“Thank you.”

There was no doubt in anyone's mind that Kiri was different from the rest of her family, and this was even true in regards to how she mourned the loss of her brother. Out of everyone, she seemed to be coping the ‘best’. There were days where Kiri would sit on her own and cry, but most days, she would be the mediator of the family, helping them speak to one another. She was able to bridge the gaps, which was once the job Neteyam gave himself. On top of the loss of Neteyam, Kiri was struggling to be away from Grace. As time went on, Norm and Max had connected monitors so that Kiri could see her mother, but that was starting to not be enough. She had asked her parents if she could return to the forest for a day or two to visit her mother but her idea was shut down immediately.

They stressed that it wasn't safe for her, if the RDA sees her, who knows what could happen to her. Kiri understood and accepted this but, that didn't mean that she was close to being content. One thing that Kiri could not accept was that she couldn't connect to the spirit tree, the other members of her family could go there and relive their time with Neteyam but she couldn’t. There were a few occasions when she was tempted to go to the tree and possibly see her missing family, but she knew it wasn’t safe. Kiri isn’t able to see her mother or her brother, and it breaks her heart every day.

And lastly, Spider. Many wouldn’t consider him a part of the Sully family, but he is. They are all he knew. Deep down, he knew that he could never be one of them, not after what he did. After Neteyam’s funeral, Spider stayed with Sully’s in the Metkayina village, and it wasn’t easy for him. He was used to the Omatikaya clan, and although they didn’t treat him with respect or the compassion that he would have liked, they remained civil with him due to Jake’s status as Olo’eyktan and Toruk Makto. But here, Jake didn’t have that power and authority anymore.

The Metkayina avoided him like he carried a disease; some would practically run away when they saw him coming in their direction, and some would mumble ‘demon’ as they walked by him. Spider didn’t stay amongst the Metkayina for long; he was in the village for less than one week. He returned to the forest with the help of Norm and Max. He told the Sully’s that he didn’t want to worry about his oxygen running out but it was a lie that some family members could see through. On the night Neteyam died, he demanded a new mask and exo-pack, claiming that his was damaged. It didn’t go unnoticed by Kiri when he snuck away from the marui and smashed his old mask into minuscule pieces. As the days passed, Spider struggled to keep eye contact with the Sully family; he always had a look of guilt on his face.

Once Spider left, Lo’ak’s mind started to wander, what could be so bad that Spider all but ran away from the village? As days turned into weeks, a thought continued to cross his mind that he tried so hard not to entertain.

“What if…” No, he would never. He could never. Right?

“He’s dead.” He has to be

Some of the Metkayina warriors returned to the Three brothers the next day to make reports and check for any survivors. No Na’vi was found matching his description. Hopefully, a creature at the bottom of the ocean finally put a stop to him, but evil doesn’t die that easily. Lo’ak knew better than to believe that this was over. Maybe it is a good thing that Spider returned to the forest because if what Lo’ak was beginning to think was true, Lo’ak would not feel any guilt about his actions.

Do you happen to have a tut on how you draw your little poses? Like when you draw you? This is like a very weird question but I am in dire need of help with poses and I absolutely adore all the ways you draw them (and just in general)

Totally fine if not though,😭🫶

STEP.1: draw head.

STEP.2: choose an expression and then draw what you want the hands to be doing/gesturing. (think body language and emotion)

STEP.3: draw body as quick and flimsily as you can using lines in the shape of only C's S's and I's.

if you look at most of my quick sketches or doodles, a lot of the lines are just wonky CSI's, it's called the CSI-method. As a comic artist you just wanna communicate a pose as best as possible without lingering too much. At least if you do full colour + background + character designs + camera work + storytelling + and + and + lots of things... You don't have the time, you just wanna get to next page, tell the story.

And, like...... Allow yourself to draw crappy once in awhile and post it anyway. Idk if you've read my webcomic but there are very obvious pages where it's like WOAH MAMA THAT'S EFFORT and then there are pages where they all look like muppets. But it also makes the cool pages look even more BAMF thanks to it, it gives everything a nice melody and bounce from page to page.

I am inconsistent and I use that to my benefit by leaning into it and letting it punch emotion home more.

it's about communicating a feeling, I think, rather than always being accurate.

I am actually-- really, really, bad at dynamic poses and camera work. Like, legit super bad at it. I bullshit everything, lmao;;; I encourage anyone to also bullshit, and use references if you want! Like go! Whatever makes it fun and less stressful.

I didn't really consider perspective or anything, I'm trying to teach myself to draw from different angles and it's hard because I like my face-forward-camera lol. But I was focusing more on framing:

so that colours and shadows highlight the scene, so I can say more with one panel than I could with words. It's about the CINEMA~~!

Or, if you close your eyes and then open them. Where does your eyes go? That's the flow of your art. Sometimes it goes in different directions, but there will be key areas your eyes are drawn to. In this image, Hunter will most likely be first, Good! And then secondly Camila, also good! ... Sometimes it's the pizza as second, less good but it still works.

MY POINT IS

THE POINT IIISSSSSS---!!

As long as you have fun playing around with it, you'll learn from it. Don't hate the process, learn from it. If you just relax it'll definitely look better anyway.

My fanart looks better than my serious stuff sometimes lmao, because I put too much pressure on a perfect finish and that just works against the grain of what I'm actually, like, good at doing.

I AM JUST SAYING WHAT WORKS FOR ME.

You should absolutely study backgrounds and perspective and anatomy!

I'm just saying that, like...... It's okay if it isn't perfect. You wont die, people will like it, you'll like it. It's OKAY.

7) Favourite works of all time excluding your own

This one is so hard because I have favourite artists, but not many favourite works. Plus, my favourite changes with every passing second but right now I would have to say this drawing of Damian with some birbies by @malenjoyer

I love this art style so much and HE'S SO CUTE

8) What do you like most about your own work

Gosh this is a hard one because I think as artists we're always thinking on whats wrong or how we can improve, but I would have to say the line art. It's my favourite part of the process and I like how much character I add to it, though I want to experiment with a more messier style.

9) What are you currently trying to improve

two things. My colour and my backgrounds. I struggle with picking out background colours that makes the foreground pop out or that just looks nice. And I think almost everyone can agree that backgrounds are hard and boring to draw. But it must be done.

11) Favourite comment you've ever received on your work

I have no idea. I love and cherish every comment on my work. Sometimes I just look through them when I'm feeling down. But my favourite right now is on my comic about Damian riding Batcow. They were basically info dumping about how riding cows isn't actually that great but I put Damian in the best spot to sit when riding. I felt so smart for that, even though I just guessed where someone would sit on a cow.

15) Biggest Art Pet Peeve

I don't have a lot of art pet peeves, more like artist pet peeves. Like those people that make those speed paint videos with the clip of markiplier going "jingle jingle" and slime videos to be like "ooooh you don't have the attention span to watch this speedpaint until the end oooooh you hate artists". I'm being hyperbolic, but I still scroll to spite them lol. But for an actual ART pet peeve, I don't like it when a character has soooo many accessories. tbf that's my personal taste, I still find the art lovely and I still admire those who put so many accessories on characters, if that makes sense??? Like that one post about the art teacher who gave a critique about a girls art telling her to make the teacher hate it? Idk I'm writing this past my bedtime so my brain is a little like mush right know. I also hate people bashing art styles. like the "calarts style" (don't get me started) or any other popular trends. Like dude, ever heard of art eras? Art goes through trends.

Those old sporting calendars you used to see in hardware stores and sporting goods stores that have nostalgic paintings or action scenes from the old west with cowboys and gunfighters and hunters and mountain men. They're his primary decor in his cabin. Walking through that heavy wooden door, you could just as well be stepping back one hundred years, especially since it's far enough from town that no lights shine at night and there are no sounds other than those made by the forest and wildlife.

Flip loves dive bars. He can take you out dancing or wine and dine you somewhere swanky, and he does often. But there's something about the gritty familiarity of a dive bar - the neon lights, the bad taxidermy, the sticky floor, the smell of greasy food, whiskey, and smoke, Johnny Cash playing on the jukebox - that really gets him riled up and hot under the collar.

Friday nights after he gets off, he asks you to meet up with him and the guys for some greasy food and a beer. Work weighs heavily on his shoulders and he takes it seriously. His usual approach to stress is to sweat it out with a vigorous workout. Weights, running, or punching a heavy bag are best. A vigorous fuck works too. He tries to get his heart racing with one method in the morning and the other in the evening. But he takes Friday nights to unwind in more traditional ways, out someplace with friends and his girl. In a dive bar, he can be boisterous and crude, laugh loud and tell raunchy jokes with Ron, make you sit on his thigh and shamelessly grab your ass, kiss your neck and growl absolute filth in your ear. For his money, it beats the hell out of going someplace he actually has to behave and act civilized.

Challenging you to a game of pool is a favorite go-to. He usually throws the game just to watch you gloat. And more importantly, to watch you bend over the pool table and stretch out prettily to make a shot. It makes his blood run hot, makes him hard in his jeans, when he looks down your shirt or eyes your ass like a dirty old man. He loves that you're all his to eye all he wants. You know this, of course, and naturally play it up a little extra for his enjoyment. When you draw attention from other men in the bar, you know that too, but it's just so much fun to see Flip puff out his chest a little and glare at your fan club. Once or maybe twice according to Flip's count, this has culminated in a bar fight with you icing his bruised knuckles and kissing his bloody lip late into the night. But you should see the other guys. According to a more accurate and unbiased count - yours - this happens almost annually. It's a nice treat to look forward to once a year or so. And the fireworks he gives you afterwards are a helluva lot better than the Fourth of July.

🌭Do you have any writing rituals to help 'get in the zone'?

I really like watching movies with the vibes I’m going for while I’m writing or having them play in the background. I've currently exhausted my Victorian watchlist while I've been working on my current fic. I also like to read similar things too but that's obviously more time consuming. I recently discovered a fun series you might like with campy Victorian antics by Evie Dunmore.

When I'm a little stuck or need to picture something better, something physical helps my brain function a little. Lifting weights works for me and although I truly hate cardio, it helps to get my thoughts churning. Probably because I'm so bored and miserable, but I'll take what I can get xD.

Then there's always good ol' maladaptive daydreaming.

Omg all the edits that have been coming around the last couple years have really helped keep me rabid. Especially during these content dry spells when there's no new movies on the horizon to look forward to.

I love making aestheics/moodboards for myself and I have a ton that have never seen the light of day because they're just for me or to scratch an itch. It's extra fun because it satisfies both an artsy urge and helps stay in the zone for fics. But sometimes they also derail me with a new idea and I deviate to write a fic for the moodboard xD

🥑What are you currently working on?

I have one big fic that I'm currently focused on. Which is really the biggest challenge for me, just staying focused on any one thing OMG. But I'm right at the finish line for this one, then I have to chose which idea to focus primarily on next. I'm trying really hard to get some bigger projects done just because they have a chance of potentially being serious writing. And frankly because the engagement is down here, but if that changes, I'm more than happy to change with it and get rabid again. Even these HCs today are such a fun little burst of creativity!

Wargrave Hall

Victorian haunted house and occult story with romance of course. I have about 1/3 of this posted now publicly but its gotten too big to update my fic post now, which really pisses me off actually xD. I'm very near the end and it's just under 100k now, so it will probably finish somewhere around 110K and then I'll post it all. I'm having a lot of fun with it and it's much better than I thought it'd be when I started it. In my humble, biased opinion anyway.

Annees Folles

Roaring Twenties adventure story with a love triangle and plenty of romance and treasure hunting. This is hovering around 150k now and has never been published, although I've sent it to my friends here who have shown interest. I'd be happy to send it to anyone who's consistently supported my insanity. It's definitely my favorite thing I've written so far and has everything I love. After I finish the Victorian fic, my goal is to get this one finished too so I have two big quality fics in the bank, then start a new project. I'm probably 7/10 done with this one, so it will be a big one when completed.

A little about Junie

Hino Junie

Physical appearance please reference the pictures above but you can really envision her however you want whenever you read. I personally see her a certain way but I don't know how to draw or have a face claim for her lol she just looks a certain way in my brain. The only concrete physical feature I want readers to envision for her is her hair as I felt it was important for her to have some blonde to match with her brother but I didn't want her to be fully blonde.

Cobra's (Hino Junpei) younger sister

By default ALL of Sannoh's little sister

They nicknamed her “Baby” because she is the baby of the family. Baby and Junie are used interchangeably.

Baby used to hate the nickname but grew used to it over time.

Cobra and Yamato taught her how to fight for self-defense purposes but they REFUSE to allow her to be a part of anything S.W.O.R.D related.

But they also contradict themselves because any time something is happening they be telling Junie like she's their certified therapist.

Like when Noboru was being a little shit thinking he was gonna work for Iemura? Girl, Junie was stuck listening to both of them spill their hearts out about it.

So really she isn't involved in the fights but knows everything going on.

Their father was never in the picture, and their mother isn't very present either. This left Cobra to be the one to raise Junie.

Cobra didn't mind, he loved Junie a lot but raising a girl in the world he was involved in was stressful.

Being a girl was already hard, throw in gang life and you have an endless cycle of stress.

Cobra's money he earns from the gas station goes to bills and paying for Junie to go to school.

Cobra never saw school for himself but he does for her. He always encouraged her to do well in school. This led to a lot of arguments while the two were growing up.

"But you didn't go to school!" "That was me! I want YOU to go to school so YOU can be BETTER."

This stopped around the age of 11. Junie realized he was working really hard, juggling being the leader of Sannoh and also raising her when he really didn't need to.

Raising Junie should've been their parents' job, not his, and yet here he was trying his best.

Junie went from average grades to being an overachiever because it felt like the only way to pay Cobra back.

Junie found an interest in contemporary dance and piano.

So Cobra transferred her from her old school to an art school farther from home.

The commute ended up being a little longer ( a 30-minute motorcycle ride instead of a 10-minute walk) but thank god she had a bunch of older brothers who drove motorcycles to send her to school and pick her up at the end of the day.

If it was late and Junie thought it was better to stay at school, she would just crash at one of her friend's dorms.

Some of the girls at school were nice. They wanted to know what living in S.W.O.R.D was like. They asked questions and found it cool that Junie's home life was different from theirs.

Some girls were real fuckin mean though. They would sneer at her, making fun of her home life. Talking about how a girl with that background had no business being here.

They also talked about your looks because you definitely looked the part of a delinquent's sister also. The school didn't make you dye your blonde hairstreak back to black, you just had to put your hair up and it didn't bug them too much.

It used to bug Junie when she first started but eventually, tuned them out considering she was top of the class anyway. (insert that one video of Bebe Rexha saying slay here lol)

Naomi was Baby's older sister. You loved having all the Sannoh members as older brothers but needed an older sister at times.

Junie's first period was a nightmare for Cobra because the dude didn't know how to explain it lol. Thank god we have Naomi though!

Hair, makeup, and emotional days were with Naomi also. Considering Sannoh can barely keep their own emotions in-tact, they had to leave that to Naomi.

Yamato's mom loved Junie. She always remembered to make extra onigiri for her as well. She wasn't the best but she tried.

Yamato's ranting about his home life usually fell on Baby because she listened to him. He didn't feel the need to always be strong around her like he did everyone else. He knew that at the end of the day, she would listen to him. Funnily she acted like both an older and younger sister to him. Always checking in on him but also always there to annoy him

DTC was scared of Baby low-key because she wasn't scared to fight with them but they all loved her.

Baby is always calling them out on their shit and telling them that "That's why you're all single."

They all come to her for their therapy sessions also😂

Whenever they needed someone to talk to they came to Junie because she would listen to them before roasting them.

Everyone in Sannoh was protective of Junie. They also all helped Cobra to keep Baby motivated to go to school. It was like having one really big family.

Anyone could make fun of her or talk down to her but at the end of the day, their family probably wasn't nearly as good as hers <3

Current Timeline

The current timeline following the movies and TV Shows currently in the franchise

The first person Junie meets is Hyuga, pre- S.W.O.R.D. and pre-High&Low. Junie meets Hyuga while her brother is active in Mugen. This is right after Hyuga-Kai disbands because their kidnap attempt on Cobra failed. After all, Mugen saved him. Junie meets Hyuga when he first attacks Mugen for his brothers and is arrested.

Junie also meets the Amamiya Brothers during Mugen era. She has her own little run-in with Masaki and Hiroto

Once S.W.O.R.D. emerges, the first official leader she meets is Rocky.

Junie meets Hyuga, Rocky, and White Rascals at age 12 and these encounters happen before the start of the series.

Junie meets Oya and Rude Boys during Story of SWORD / Road to High&Low at age 13

High&Low The Movie is when she officially meets Mighty Warriors

During High&Low The Movie and High&Low End of Sky Junie is 14 years old.

Final Mission and The Worst Junie is 15 years old

According to the Discord Besties, The Worst starts like a week after Final Mission so that's what I'm going based off of

Once The Worst X comes around Junie is 16 years old

Since we don't get an actual timeline for the franchise of how much time passes between each show and movie, this is just me doing a rough estimate because I need Junie to be old enough to know what's going on during S.W.O.R.D. era but also still be Fujio's age by the time he is introduced since he is her love interest. Fujio is a third-year student by the time Worst X rolls around, which is the last year of high school in the Japanese school system. According to Google, Japanese students are around 17-18 years old at that time because their third year is the equivalent of a USA student's senior/last year in high school so I have Fujio's age sitting at 17 in my story.

I will get into Fujio and Junie's relationship more in posts dedicated to them.

Again this is all a rough estimate because we never get a concrete timeline in this franchise so don't take my word for it lol.

There is potential for this to change if LDH ever makes more High&Low movies or shows but that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon so...

And this is my OC and my story you can't tell me I'm wrong it's literally mine 😂

I will be making a master list for Junie and the shit she goes through living in SWORD because I have so much for her. Junie's story was supposed to all be one post but I realized it was already too long and we weren't even halfway into the lore yet so I had to split it into multiple parts.

Credit for High&Low and the contents from the franchise goes to its respective owners. Hino Junie however is an OC and belongs to me. Her dialogue in scenes that occur in the franchise belong to me and scenes that I make for her that do not appear in the franchise belong to me as well as I am the creator. I don’t know if this is a silly question or not, but I saw you mention how the creator of “there are no demons” uses a 3D sculpts to make their comic. Do you use a 3D software? I have never even considered it before now, but now I’m wondering if it would help me keep consistency with different characters body types

I actually do, not so much software (I'm not a 3D modeller at all lol) but 3D assets! There are a few sprinkled throughout Rekindled, mostly involving background props and set designs (though in a lot of cases my assistant @banshriek will often just use them as references to paint over rather than use them directly if they feel it looks better, much of the backgrounds in the comic since Ep 23 can be attributed to them <3).

I don't use 3D models for my character art, not so much because I'm against it, just because I've used them in the past and while I found they helped with certain things I often struggle with like perspective and proportions, they've also started to hinder my creativity because of how stiff they can be (and tbh it made the drawing process really boring for me because I was literally spending more time adjusting poses than I was actually drawing!) I'm finding I'm perfectly capable of drawing anatomy on my own now, using 3D models for a while helped me get there but now they're more limiting than they are helpful due to my outgrowing them (kind of like training wheels on a bike, like yeah they're helpful so you can learn how to ride a bike, but you won't get to go as fast or have as much freedom of movement as you would if you learned how to ride a two wheeler). I think they're great for referencing or if I'm REALLY stuck on a pose or how a character exists in a space, but I don't like being constrained by them by using them constantly and that was what it was starting to feel like while I was using them for Time Gate so I've moved away from 3D character models and stuck exclusively to using 3D assets for backgrounds and things that aren't going to affect the overall quality of my work or how I make it.

I think the fact that a lot of people straight up don't notice that I use 3D assets in Rekindled is a testament to that LMAO Although you can tell in some of the earlier episodes when it was just me working on it and I had to balance quality with turnaround time. I've always hated drawing backgrounds and so Banshriek has been a huge help with relieving that stress and adding that extra touch to Rekindled that I just can't feasibly bring on my own :' )

If you're interested in trying out 3D models for yourself, then by all means do it! You won't know what works for you until you try it. Most of my advice stems from experience, I'm not someone who wants to spend all day messing around with 3D dolls, so using them to aid in my drawing just wound up being redundant, time-consuming, and boring. But there are folks out there who love messing around with 3D models, there are even comics out there that are fully 3D with zero drawing, using models that are handmade. Webcomics are a medium, you can do whatever you want :' )

The only advice I have to give from experience is to be aware that like with any tool, they aren't necessarily a "replacement" for the learning process, they should supplement your learning alongside other resources and references. You should still make an effort to learn foundational things like composition, lighting, color theory, dynamic gestures, etc. regardless of whether you're working in 2D, 3D, or a fusion of the two. "There Are No Demons" has a look to it that's uncanny and that's clearly the point so the 3D models help a LOT with that, but there are just as many webtoons that use 3D models poorly and wind up with an uncanny look they weren't intending to have (ex. Let's Play).

Thoughts on Nightbringer (minor spoilers)

Description: What it says on the tin.

TW: None. Minors DNI.

Thoughts on game mechanics:

- Ruri Tunes is so much fun! And I'm loving the remixes of all the characters' songs.

- The difficulty spikes after lesson 4. I went from getting S-ranks to D's in the span of a single lesson. :(

- The hardest part of the game is leveling up cards/drawing the right cards in nightmare. Nightbringer makes me wish I had my old cards from the base game.

- The backgrounds, enemies, etc. are nods to the anime/past events (like Beel's carrot curry and the masked bats). Which is super cute!

-Extreme mode is INSANE.

- It's far easier to get devil points. In daily rewards, you can earn up to twenty points per day.

Lore!

- The game takes place a year after the celestial war ends. The brothers have been under house arrest staying with Diavolo while the HoL was reconstructed.

- The brothers are constantly surprised by Beel's appetite. Which tells me that their sins have been slowly infecting them over the past year.

- Solomon fought off the entire devildom at once??? AND WON???

- Finally, we have more of Luke's backstory! Apparently he was born sometime after the celestial war ended and Nightbringer begins. He could be anywhere from a year to literally like a month old lol.

- Barbatos hates Solomon for some reason. Their conversations are comedy gold. Solomon "can't" remember why his friend hates him because his memories from this time are "foggy." (I call bs)

- Guess who makes the first pact in the game? It's not you - it's Solomon. He forges a pact with Asmo when you're stuck in the maze under Diavolo's castle...which effectively rewrites how the two originally made a pact! Two lessons later, he warns you not to mess with the timeline. Pick a lane.

- Nightbringer (let's be honest, it's Barbatos) is the name of the person who brought us to the devildom. Imo, the name is stupid and Barbatos should never be allowed to name anything, ever.

- We met biblical Adam and he was in hell. For some reason.

Misc. Notes:

- The brothers are kinder to the MC than season one of the base game. I can't tell if it's because they're still acting like angels or because the MC is masquerading as their demonic attendant.

- Seriously I'm at lesson 9 and no one has threatened to kill me yet.

- Ah, cold and distant Lucifer my beloved. How I've missed you. 😌

- Mammon is a simp in all universes and across all timelines for the MC. I love that for them.

- Leviathan has always been like that™️

- Asmo misses the celestial realm so much he modeled his room after it.

- Belphegor doesn't seem to hate humans as much? I keep expecting him to lesson 16 me at any second.

- MC lied to Diavolo's face, forgetting that one of his cannon powers is that he can detect lies. Guys why are we so stupid. 😔

On AO3, it's probably Bear The Burden Alone, but I try to keep the fics that I post here on Tumblr kinda upbeat with hopeful -- albeit open-ended -- endings.

Yeah! For Whatever We Lose is actually a crossover with The Pacific, and I'd love to do more crossovers in the future

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yep! I've deleted the comments, but some people were VERY ANGRY about the background Babe/Roe content in LAGLAM -- you know, despite the fact that the plot of the fic is driven by a queer woman's decision to cross-dress. Guess they had to draw the line somewhere, but the hypocrisy of it all makes me chuckle

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Kinda? I deleted most of it from the original LAGLAM drafts and instead just alluded to it, but things are going to be different in FWWL. Get ready for crappy ocean metaphors and religious imagery, babes!

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, but I think it would be fun!

What's your all-time favorite ship?

Everlark! (said while frothing at the mouth because they make me go insane) I've been obsessed with them since I first read The Hunger Games at age 9. I could write you a whole novel about why I think they're perfect together, but I'll spare you the ramble (unless anyone wants it?)

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

Tears in my eyes when I tell you that it's probably the requests in my inbox. I keep telling myself that I'll get to them, but I've just felt unmotivated with all the stuff I've had going on in my personal life/at school. I really really do hope to get to them someday, though, because some of them will be really fun to write

What are your writing strengths?

I have no clue, lol. I tend to get compliments about how I describe settings, so I'm gonna say that!

What are your writing weaknesses?

My abuse of commas and italics.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Personally, I love doing it. Especially in a fic like LAGLAM, where even though most people don't speak the language I'm using (Cherokee), I feel like they can still see the importance to the characters and to the story. And I like tricking people into caring about Indigenous language preservation. My teachers told me that anything can be a vessel for carrying language on, and by God, I took that to heart

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Oh boy. I was in the fifth grade. I had won many writing competitions. Two classmates approached me and told me that they wished The Hunger Games had more post-Mockingjay Everlark content, and that since I was a good writer, they wanted me to write it. I was traded many cosmic brownies and other such snacks throughout the year for my services in providing my classmates with Everlark fics on pages of notebook paper that are probably crumpled up in a landfill by now. At the time, I had no idea I was writing fanfiction, but it was the start of my favorite hobby. Look at me now, baby!

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

I've always wanted to write for TURN: Washington's Spies but have never had the courage haha

What's your favorite fic you've written?

I have a couple of one-shots that I'm pretty pleased with, but currently I'm going to say LAGLAM because it's been so special to me <3

i’m kind of shy? and quiet but i can get quite chatty if im comfortable or excited. i like to hear others talk rather than talk myself. i’ve been told i give off nice answers welcoming energy when i get talked to. i loveeee making new friends but i tend to come off as awkward bc i get nervous around new people LOL.

Yuuji isn’t shy at all & lovable so he’d definitely get through that wall with you quickly but it’ll feel so natural. He’d probably notice the awkwardness and how you struggle to talk sometimes so he’d definitely talk more and answer his questions with things he thinks you’d answer with and look at you for approval.

Your welcoming aura definitely attracted him to you, and he probably will tell you everything and ask about your opinions on things. Definitely values your opinion.

When you do speak to him, he hangs on to every word that you say mentally storing it for his own reasons.

Knows you like to meet new people so he invites you to things and introduces you to everyone and gives them fun facts about you to start up a conversation.

Literally loves your height, his type is tall girls after all 😉😉

Probably has ADHD , so he’s fine with background noise, it helps him too, thanks you for introducing him to white noises.

Will definitely go to shelters with you to look at cats, stops to pet every dog with you.

Family oriented, so would definitely love your siblings and annoying them with you.
