Fanfic Writers...
So earlier I was reading a thread about Fanfic writers abandoning their fics, or deleting their accounts when they were no longer interested in writing anymore, because they felt the need to move on to other things (other types of writing, or life is lifing, etc), and I have to say this...don't delete your fics.
You never know wo needs to read that story (completed or not) years from now after you have forgotten/abandoned them.
Lemme give you an example.
Years ago, after the new Star Trek reboot came out in 2009 I was busy working a difficult job and struggling to write anything and just make a living. I'd always been a Star Trek fan since I was little. LIke seriously, I had a Klingon language handbook in highschool, I own a Star Trek cocktail dress, a messenger, bag, and a tiny replica of the Enterprise (that used to light up). I hadn't read or written fanifics in years, so I was out of touch with the fandom. When the reboot movie came out, I loved it, but I had hit a rough patch in a long term relationship, a lot of my friends were moving away to different cities and countries, and I was feeling depressed and not really finding much happiness.
About six years after the first reboot movie came out, I tried to find and old livejournal account I had that I used to write Blade, X Files, Star Trek, & other fics with. Perusing fandoms I dipped back into looking at new Star Trek content on other fanfiction websites and stumbled across some great new Star Trek fics that were amazing (My thing was the Spock/Uhura pairing). Baybee, when I tell you those stories from various writers lifted my spirits and gave me something to look forward to at the end of a hard day or week of draining work! I laughed, cried, fell in love, felt enraged, surprised, and so many emotions reading made up stories from strangers all over the world. A lot of these fics had been abandoned or the writers had left the fandom and weren't writing anymore by the time I found them...but I still had their stories. One particular writer had a 4 book Star Trek series that was better than the studio sanctioned movie book adapatations I bought at SF/F conventions or online. Just A+ writing and wordbuilding.
Reading those fics bolstered my confidence (and dopamine) to go back to living life again as best I could, and also writing my own fanfics again. I took time to write this particular writer to tell her thank you. I never heard from her (didn't expect to), but I was grateful to be able to read their work over and over again when I was feeling low, or needed to revisit old familiar friends.
All this to say, pleadingly so, don't delete your stories. Someone years from now, someone like me, may find your work and latch onto it as their lifeline to keep on getting up in the morning...have something to come home to. Or need that story you made up on the fly to give them a new way of looking at the world that will help them cope and keeping trying to make it out here.
Your stories are needed, your unique voices are needed on here, even if you no longer write anything for fandoms.
Le Fin.

So! Because I hate formatting things in AO3 comments, have some ramblings about the world building in taste of the divine! (that I can then link to in comments because I am cheaty like that.)
In this world, "godhood" is effectively a slight scam. In the sense that, while the common people believe they have a god that rules over everything, it's more that the Force chooses a vessel to channel its power through. That god is always called Anakin, regardless of gender, because it's supposed to always be the same god, just reborn in an endless cycle of death and rebirth like a phoenix.
"Anakin of the Longest Day" and "Anakin of the Shortest Night" were originally meant to indicate whether the god was currently male or female, but I decided to leave it more as a series of expected weather-related phenomena, like El Niño and La Niña. The reason this "scam" isn't apparent to the people is that when one Anakin dies and another steps up, it's usually because the Force has backup vessels to choose from, so the transition is typically immediate. In this case, however, there were no suitable vessels to channel the Force, so she had to tap Shmi to be the mother of the new god. That's why, at the start of the fic, most people expect the new Anakin to show up, and that's why 20 years end up being so strange. Although it's also partly because information gets lost between reincarnations of Anakin(s), since Anakin lives far longer than any normal human, usually for centuries. The whole choosing/betrothal ceremony was also a bit of a misdirection. Most of the time, the Anakin vessel chosen already has a lover, but to explain their existence, they made a big show of each Anakin "choosing" someone out of the crowd—when they were really just pointing at their spouse. (Who then received the Extra Marital Bonus of sharing Anakin's semi-immortality.) So the 20-year break it takes really is, genuinely, Anakin having to be born, and then Shmi yanking on his ear and saying, "No, you will not go pick up your beloved. He is going to freak out if a bossy nine-year-old rocks up to him and goes, 'hey, so all those sex dreams you've had? That's me! Or will be me, in, like, 10 years.'"
And Anakin sulkily agreeing because he doesn't want to spook Obi-Wan off. Mom said no, so he'll wait. (This is also why Obi-Wan is like you have a mother?? because Anakin is supposed to just be this force of nature, divinity-risen-from-the-ashes, singular and infinite.) OKAY HOPEFULLY THAT ALL MAKES SENSE. 👉👈

Dying of laughter that so many people mix up "definitely" and "defiantly" that any time I mean "defiantly" and use it correctly, my word processing program underlines it and recommends changing it to "definitely".

Does anyone get the feeling of wanting to write but you can’t? Not the same as Writers’s Block because you can come up with all sorts of ideas and you can put them all down into words but you just can’t seem to actually do any writing?

To whoever needs to hear this...
A popular writer of fantasy books started off as a fanfic writer of Harry Potter fandom works, and became my teacher at a prestigious SF/F writing program. Do not let people think you aren't good enough to break into trad/indie publishing. So many of you on here have what it takes.

Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Cat Anakin Skywalker, Fluff and Angst, Jealousy, Top Obi-Wan Kenobi, Power Bottom Anakin Skywalker, More tags to be added —
Even within the halls of the Temple, love was visible everywhere. The love of the crèche minders as they played with their charges, raising them until the time came for them to become Padawans. Love of a master whose greatest gift would be to pass on knowledge and wisdom to the next generation, spreading the teachings of their lineage. All of those were acts of genuine, gentle love.  What Obi-Wan felt was not gentle.  And that made it wrong.

That moment when you're writing and you stop to Google a word to make sure it means what you think it means. And ... it doesn't actually mean what you thought it meant. Which, in turn, justifies all the time you spend Googling words you correctly know while writing.

~~ MILESTONE ~~
Lovely people! It's been a decade since I first posted on AO3 and I just hit a huge milestone, something I'd been refreshing towards for the past few weeks. I'm just like bouncing in my boots over here and want to celebrate by doing prompts!
Good old faithful is 3 words and a ship, so consider my inbox open! Also happy to receive any little prompt, if that's more to your liking. There's been a lot of stuff going on this week for me and this has been such a bright little moment.
I also want to take the time to thank anyone who has ever read my fanfic and helped make AO3 (and tumblr) a wonderful digital home for me over the past decade.
Love you lots, xoxo Gossip Girl ashes :D

I managed to finish almost 500 words over and achieve my 50k last night 11 minutes before midnight thanks to sheer willpower, determination, and espresso roast coffee.
This goal was all for me, and I'm so happy I made it. I haven't posted everything I have written yet, but that's not important. Goal is reached!!! 🎉🥳🎉
On another note, I have only slept one hour because of the coffee, so I'm likely passing out early tonight in a hyper euphoria fugue state. 🤣
