I'm not normally a victim of FOMO tactics, nor do I usually let being late to the party stop me from chatting about a piece of media but I'm genuinely sad I didn't get into Obey Me/Nightbringer earlier. It makes me want to write a million essays but the disposable and decentralized nature of gacha kind of makes it feel like you missed your chance to talk about it. I keep coming across years old, unrepliable comments that I want to jump on sooo bad but I can't because the moment is gone and most of these people have likely moved on to less overtly money-hungry games.
Which sucks! because one essay I want to write in particular is how this game is extremely skilled in arousing your desire to create, to actively engage with the characters and worldbuilding, to do fandom shit, and I find this enormously fascinating in itself. The story isn't good but to a certain extent, it's not supposed to be; it functions as an elaborate set of writing/art/rp prompts for its audience to expand on and tailor to their needs.
And I think Obey Me does this well! Amazingly well. I find discussion of narrative structure fascinating, the study of how we define writing as effective, good, or as failures, so I'm drawn to this story full of contradicting lore, one-note characters, and half-finished plots. The story isn't good but that hardly matters because it's not here to be a good story; it's here to throw you into imagination boot camp. It compels you to speculate what it could be, what this character could be, what a slightly different tone would look like, what other people think about it. It feels distinct from the average popular show fandoms where, to an extent, creators congregate simply because that's where the people are. Creating for your own sake is nice and all but validation is usually a stronger force. Usually.
I keep coming across old high effort researched posts about abrahamic religions and occultism from fans setting themselves up for inevitable disappointment. I keep coming across creators leaving notes on their work like "I haven't written a thing in ten years, but,". I keep losing it over heartfelt posts defending x and y canon story decisions with their whole chest, oblivious to the fact that they're misremembering their personal tweaks/headcanons as what happened in the game, like it's seriously so cute when they're so passionate and completely wrong.
I have no idea if fandom actually plays a role in the lucrativeness of a franchise (though as a personal anecdote, I 100% started Obey Me after a single piece of horny Mammon fanart crossed my dash), but it makes more sense to me now, less a projection of wishful/haterful thinking from those with strong opinions about Fandom. Maybe it really does matter.
---
Other essays I missed the boat on:
A Casino Right in Your Home: goddamn is the pre/sequel's gacha obscene
Satan: how to put a mid character into S-tier with one simple trick (make him insane)
Sorry Belphie defenders but you're imagining a better psycho than you were given
Solmare added a shiny new rhythm game but didn't fix the now four year old coloring error on Levi's hands lmfaooo the disrespect is crazy
Remember when you saw the Nightbringer trailer of them glaring in bdsm gear with freshly blackened wings, and you thought "ah, so this takes place right after they fought god and lost. After they went to war to protect their sister only for her to die anyway. After one brother in particular saves someone, but not her, the focal point of the war. They will finally take these to their logical, guilt despair rage pain and grudge filled ends." And you were correct until that very last sentence? lol
Remember when the Ruri-chan event gave you the option to tell Levi you're not cheating on him and then the rest of the event was just making out with his brothers? Then it ends with you kissing him in front of them? Bring that energy back!!!

A list of my favorite whump and non-whump House MD fics
I've read some really great fics for House so I thought I'd share them here in case anyone wanted to read them (and really because I want to talk about them)
I'd say about half of these are Chase-centric and about half are general character stories
Bone Deep and Week One of Med School by julienwrites are hands down the two BEST House fics I've ever read and the best sickfics I've ever read. I dont know how this author writes so well its actual magic. Both are Chase sickfics set in season 7 and 6, respectively, and full of good sick whump and some very good wholesome comfort. I enjoy sickfic whump about as much as other types of whump but WOW these were INCREDIBLE!!!
Next up is Can't Change Anything by NAOA. There's some absolutely WONDERFUL emotional whump in this. Centered around Chase and his reaction to his stepmother being the team's newest patient. Wonderful character writing in this (I mean the characterization is frankly tremendous in all of them but in this one especially because of the emotional nature of the whump). Also typical House-being-an-asshole shenanigans written amazingly. Original trio fic.
Declare the Past, Diagnose the Present by andrealyn. Wow. Just WOW. General character fic that's slightly whumpy but moreso just very entertaining. Loooooooove the character dialogue in this! And the descriptions are awesome! Just a really well rounded impressive story. Original trio fic.
Let the Nerf-Bat Wars Begin by OldToadWoman is a really funny and entertaining fic set in season 6. Hilarious House and Wilson shenanigans and fantastic dynamics between the team (ironically, over their shared hatred for team building!). I think i was grinning the whole time reading this lol. Honestly one of the best non-angsty fics I've read. Highly recommend!
Self-Defense, or The One Where Foreman Teaches Chase How to Throw a Punch by ignaz. Lovely short fic with the original trio. Intended as pre-slash but can be read as platonic too. Not whump but slightly angsty and overall a good story :)
The Unwilling Host by jmtorres. A fantastic funny fluff fic about Thanksgiving at House's house. Very sweet found family dynamics between House, Wilson, Cuddy, and the original trio. Wonderful to read after all the canonical (and fanfictional) angst of this show! I loved reading this so much!
Aaaaaaand right back into whump! These Walls Are Suffocating Me by awkwardanxiousasexual is an amazing Chase centered whump fic about claustrophobia. A 5+1 fic set throughout his life with some magnificent descriptions of panic!!
Last but not least! Wonder, Wonder by A_Concerned_Citizen. Character studies of the original trio from Wilson's perspective. Mostly Chase centric. Some fantastic "missing scene" parts, and lovely internal Wilson thoughts!!

top 5 fic from any fandoms
I haven't been reading many fics in last year or two so imma go with tb/x fics I've read in the past and remember liking. To rank fics is next to impossible, not even by enjoyment. Ofc I can go here and name masterpieces like Nukume Dori or Sakura and Snow but most (all I'd say) seisub fans have read those, if not multiple times. So instead I've found 5 fics that I adored very much and defo recommend:
180° Scorching Degrees of Beautiful - post TB Subaru and Seishirou cross paths during one of Subaru's jobs and have to work together. Amazingly written, very in character, very intriguing scenario and I was especially fan of the ending. Definitely something I can picture happening in canon
灰に化す迄 —scrape— - set post Rainbow Bridge 7k angsty drama of Subaru's desperation to resurrect Seishirou - which he does, but not everything goes as planned. Very in character, Subaru's emotionally distorted state is especially well written, istg even to this day I recall my chest clenching at certain part.
Degrees of Humanity - this one isn't seisub per se but 7k fantastic character/plot study. It follows Fuuma's and Kakyou's conversation about various characters and motifs in X, author really has a great grasp on source material.
Beneath the Sakura - angsty smut with noncon sakura bondage and Seishirou constantly erasing those encounters from Subaru's mind. Wonderfully poignantly written, I can so see Seishirou doing something like that in canon
Obsidian - one of most in character wonderful fuukam fics I've ever read. They cross paths and exchange goes as you'd expect it: jabs, Fuuma's teases and Kamui's confusion.

pokemon anime fanfic rec list !!
hii!! i’ve compiled some of my favourite pokeani ao3 fanfics to create this rec list. i hope that this is helpful, enjoy!! ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
be careful, and always check tags/warnings before reading!!
this is loosely made in order of my favourite to my least, though all of these are spectacular. other than that, there isn't any particular order to this.
(moon phases are used to represent partial star ratings!!)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You Can Always Count On Me by driftveil (G) 7,281 words, 4/4 chapters [no ships] --- Ash has a soft spot for the bruised and the broken. When he says "I choose you," he means it for life. (Brock doesn't understand it at all — until, one day, he does.)
i'm a HUGE sucker for fics focused on ash's relationship with his pokemon. i am also a sucker for fics that kind of focus on brock and ash's brotherly-dynamic. i absolutely adore this fic, dear gosh, it's just a combination of all my favourite pokeani fic aspects in one!! basically, this is a character study fic from brock's perspective as he watches ash taking care of his abused/traumatized fire pokemon.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Promises by CGJ (NR) 3,940 words [no ships] --- Ash leaves on a journey, and each time he comes back different. Brock watches, and waits.
this fic is absolutely beautiful!! this fic is very warm and fuzzy, but also quite angsty and sad, sort of hurt/comfort i guess?? but not exactly. features brock pov, along with brock and ash's brotherly dynamic again!! brock's guilt(?) over not being able to protect ash is written spectacularly. i hold this fic to the highest regard, definitely give this one a chance!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amor Pietasque by driftveil (T) 2,716 words [no ships] --- Froakie’s looking for more than just a trainer. It’s a shame, then, that Kalosian children make such terrible partners.
this potrayal of froakie is absoluely spectacular, and it is exactly how i imagine it. the backstory for froakie in this makes so much sense, and is written beautifully. froakie's feelings are written so amazingly, i swear. the moment froakie met ash?! absolutely perfect. this fic is flawless, please read it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐🌗 A Professor and a Student by LeDiz (G) 136,026 words, 23/23 chapters [no ships] --- Ash seemed determined to stay in Alola, and Kukui had a loft going to waste. He'd boarded students before; he didn't expect anything special out of the experience. As it turns out, Ash isn't the only one who's going to be learning a lot this year. Snippets and fragments of life during Ash's stay in Alola.
i'm almost positive absolutely everyone in the pokeani fandom has read this one already, but just in case you haven't, please read this. it's a spectacular potrayal of ash from kukui's perspective, and it's written amazingly. a good amount of just general fragments, and plot. it's always so interesting to see how people/character's view ash, especially when the character is unaware of ash's previous journeys.
and thus the earth by imaginaryinspiration (T) 1,997 words [no ships] --- Olivia leaned over the table, an unreadable smile on her face, and her eyes flicked to Ash. And the words she said next— well, they put him on very high alert. “I heard that it’s not just a story. During that time, there were sightings of all four legendaries,” she said. “They were fighting all throughout the storm!” In other words, Olivia picks up on some things Ash wished she didn't on their visit to Akala. Everyone else is just confused.
this fic is based off of a moment in the fic mentioned above this (A Professor and a Student by LeDiz), but it's absolutely amazing. it's a further look into what might've happened if my favourite scene in that fic had gone on a bit longer.
⭐⭐⭐⭐🌘 The 48: Pokemon by LeDiz (T) 359,963 words, 15/? works [a bit of prof.burnet/prof.kukui]
this is a really great series with a whole bunch of great character studies and oneshots. mainly just a bunch of one chapter fics, with a few multichapters. great potrayals of all the characters, and it expertly explores some of the best and most interesting apsects of the pokeani. my personal favs are The Wallet, As long as no one asks, Left Behind, and Nice job, but all of them are absolutely spectacular!!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ in the light of the moon by imaginaryinspiration (T) 995 words [no ships] --- Pikachu wants to form a truce, just for one night. Meowth decides it's worth it, once he hears the reason. or: an electric rat and criminal cat put aside their differences to teach a death-defying ten-year-old how to say f ck.
(the f ck in't censored in the fic, nor in the actually summary, i was the one who did that for this post.) amazing. beautiful. exquisite. perfect in every way. exactly what i needed in life. okay, okay, jokes aside, this is very much a crack fic. this is incredibly funny, and exactly what you need after reading a whole bunch of angst, assuming you read all the recs above.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ together is better than apart by imaginaryinspiration (T) 8,670 words, 4 works [a little satosere] --- Ash loves saving the world, he really does, but sometimes it's too much. Sometimes, afterwards, he needs a little more support than he's used to.
a super nice and sweet series. focuses on ash's relationship with each of his kalos companions, and it's honestly just very nice. it does have satosere in the second work, but it can definitely be skipped if you're not a fan of that.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Caught, catching by grainjew (G) 1,470 words [no ships] --- Coda to Best Wishes episode 7, “Snivy Plays Hard to Catch!” Soon after her capture, Ash and Snivy sit down for a sunrise conversation about trainers and the having thereof.
such a spectacular potrayal of snivy, and i adore her and ash's bond throughout this fic. snivy's skepticism is written wonderfully. this is just a really cool fic!!
⭐⭐⭐🌖 put your arms around me by kopycat_101 (G) 1,255 words [no ships] --- Ash ponders about his journeys, the friendships he made during said journeys, and the unique way that everyone has hugged him.(Essentially, a fluffy fic full of headcanons plus Ash love and appreciation.)
gahhhhh!! this is so sweet and nostalgic; this fic is simply full of fluff, and i love it. the kinds of hugs each character gives fits them so well, and honestly, ash deserves all the hugs in the world. the only reason this isn't 4 stars is 'cause the way they write 'prof.' instead of 'professor,' annoys me a bit, which is just me being a little prick.
⭐⭐⭐🌖 Aspects of Ash by caspiiann (T) 5,201 words, 6/? chapters [no ships] --- A collection of episodic styled oneshots, depicting different AUs of Ash <3 Chapters do not follow one coordinated plot
just a bunch of really great oneshots, that as the title suggests, are about the "aspects of ash." it's got both crack-y oneshots, and more serious ones. some of the chapters are really great deepdives into ash's character, and those chapters are written spectacularly.
⭐⭐⭐🌗 What it's worth by CGJ (NR) 1,776 words [satogou] --- And he wonders, is this how he made everyone else feel? Is this how mama felt everyday, as he went on a journey and left her waiting? How his pokemon felt, unable to do anything but stay at a lab waiting for him to come back? Goh is leaving on his new journey, and Ash realizes a few things.
ash realizing how everyone else felt when he himself left them behind for a new journey is written spectacularly. how different goh is to all of ash's other friends is potrayed quite nicely, and this is just generally a nicely written fic!!!
⭐⭐⭐🌗 Sparkly Things by grainjew (G) 1,458 words [no ships in tags, but the fic has a bit of satosere] --- Coda to XY episode 64, "Battling with Elegance and a Big Smile!" After nightfall, Ash and Serena discuss Serena's double battle with the mysterious pokemon performer who was definitely not Kalos Queen Aria. Also, Contests.
i adore the kalos gang so much. this fic is very nice, and i love ash mentioning contests,,, it isn't often that he talks about his past adventures/things he's directly learnt from them, so seeing fics about it is always a treat. also, i loved the end note so much!! i, too, am a firm believer that serena and clemont would rant to each other about how much they liked ash.
⭐⭐⭐🌘 Static (Ability) by grainjew (G) 3,357 [no ships] --- Five times Ash Ketchum is ten years old.
ash can't age. that's it. that's the fic. anways, it's good!! ash doesn't believe in aging, nor does he physically age, so it's sorta funny.
i hope that you find these fics are just as amazing as i think they are. feel free to give some of your own recs!! maybe i'll continue this post in the future??
anyways, hope this was helpful!! o(* ̄︶ ̄*)o
(this post was edited on 1/7/2023 in order to remove (accidental) negative comments i made about the pokeani writing community as a whole. it was not my intention to hurt anyone, and i sincerely apologise to anyone who was hurt by my ignorant and careless comments.)

2022 TAZ Fic Recs!!
There has been so many bangers I've read this year, oh my goddd. This list is mainly just me going through my bookmarks to share everything that's on them, because other people deserve to see them. I will not be @-ing every author, because honestly, I don't know if all of them have Tumblrs or what their usernames are if they do sldfsdf. But they'll be linked with the story!
Fics with a black heart emoji (🖤) in front of them have content warnings that really need to be adhered. I'm taking warnings from what I remember and what is in the tags of the story already. If I need to add anything else, let me know.
On the Deck of the Starblaster by papergardener - The Starblaster crew takes a well-deserved break in the sun. It's so soft that it makes my heart kinda ache, tbh! Could not recommend more.
parlay, as a gamble by anistarrose - Lucretia doesn't erase the concept of Parley as well as she meant to and Merle reaches out to the Red Robe. This one is beautifully heartbreaking and hilarious, I'm in love with it.
🖤 Symptoms by The_Fanfic_Train - The crew has defeated the Hunger and now they must through the mortifying ordeal of healing. This one got me real good, ngl. It shows so much growth and strength and adds a very realistic side to the characters that I very much enjoyed reading.
Warning for suicidal tendencies, negative thoughts, and self-destructive behaviors, and mentions of blood.
Who Have You Become In The Wake of All That's Happened? by ArtsyRiv - Magnus and his experiences with his hair and the styling of those around him. As someone who has also written an entire fic about hair, this is so beautiful. It captures the feelings connected to hair presentation so, so well and, to top it all off, T4T Magnulia, hell yeah.
🖤 I Tried To Do The Best That I Could by ArtsyRiv - Lucretia's been having nightmares in the wake of the Redaction. She's not coping with it well. This story is so beautifully written and pulls you along with all the feelings and emotions mixed in. It's soul-destroying but in a beautiful way.
Warning for self-harm, EDNOS/Eating disorders, some suicidal ideation, and an emetophobia warning.
Caves and Cypress by crowsong - In the simplest of terms, a character study of Barry between the end of Stolen Century and the beginning of Here There Be Gerblins. It's amazingly complex and so well thought out. It tossed me between angst and yearning so quickly that all my emotions jumbled up and came out as tears. There are some fun Barry and Lucretia interactions in here, as well as some very fun Barry and Kravitz interactions.
it's my party and I'll mope if I want to by Grabbingatpowerandkissingit - Angus and Lucretia make Taako a birthday cake. It's fun and funky and fresh, with a very nice little dash of angst sprinkled in. I adore it in every way.
Someone I Have Loved, But Never Known by anistarrose - A fucking fantastic AU of Barry and Lup also being voidfished and remembering their married but don't remember it's too each other. It's hilarious and so in character, I could not recommend it more.
I Saw Seven Bounties by umbraastaff (jothending) - Kravitz took all seven bounties because things like this usually come as package deals. He soon realizes he's sorely mistaken. This one is so fun. I have so many thoughts about Barry and Kravitz's interactions between Stolen Century and HTBG's and this fulfills like, half of them at least. The writing style is so charming and nice, I very highly suggest you read it.
leaving, as an injustice by anistarrose - Another absolute banger by Rose. Sort of a spiritual successor to "parley, as a gamble" further up the list, this is another fantastic Merle fic. With Mavis as the main character, we get to see Merle in a light that not a lot of people choose to write about. It's fantastic and deep and beautiful, an amazing read.
Some of my best friends are liches by Grabbingatpowerandkissingit - So, so, so good. What if Lup had gotten out of the umbrastaff really early? What if they had to deal with two Red Robes instead of one? Everything Reese writes is delightful and zesty, but I have a special place in my heart for this one.
if the grim reaper takes your professor before class starts then you're legally allowed to leave
if the grim reaper takes your professor before class starts then you're legally allowed to leave by anistarrose - Such a good take on another Barry lives after the Redaction AU. It's so funny and so good.
Scamming me, scamming you by Noodyl - Taako thinks he's flirting with Kravitz. Kravitz thinks he's being scammed (and he's kinda loving it?). This is so hilarious and I love the way Noodyl writes Kravitz, it's so very good. A perfect fun fic to wipe away all your sorrows.
🖤 Immortal Mortality by vacuumfluorescentdisplay - I just discovered this author and I'm going wild about them, just a little. This is such a good take on various deaths throughout the Stolen Century. It's so lived-in and refreshing to read and it brings a lot of humanity to the Starblaster crew, dealing with the most living-being-oriented problem: Death. Fantastic read and fantastic writing.
Warning for character death, including drowning and extreme hypothermia. There are also blood mentions and injury descriptions.
unreliable narrator by owlinaminor - An older fic but such a powerful one. It shares Lucretia's POV throughout her entire life up until just after Story and Song. It has given me a new way to view Lucretia and the way I write her and is such an impactful story. The writing style is fantastic and beautiful, I cannot recommend this more.
but the strange lights in the sky were shining by anistarrose - Barry knows things are off but he can't pinpoint why. This one so perfectly captures the feeling of offness from being in a new world but not being able to remember how or why you got there. It's very quick-paced and really captures you in the moment of it all. So good.
Live Like This by Grabbingatpowerandkissingit - Reese has once again taken an already brilliant AU idea (Tuck Everlasting-based AU, my beloved) and made it amazing. Barry's reoccurring encounters at the Fair and his life in between. It's an amazing story and so lived-in and thought-out. It's so very good.
Offworld by vacuumfluorescentdisplay - Last but certainly not least, this masterpiece. I just finished reading this the day I'm writing this and it's incredible. Barry is trying to escape his (criminal) pass and Taako and Lup are just trying to stay alive. This story follows their trip and their slow fall into trust. Tom is so good at world-building and making the characters feel multi-dimensional. The world(s) here are fantastically built and the storyline is even better. Again, I would very highly recommend it.
And that's it!! This got a little long but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anyone on my list sldkfsdf. Shout out to all these amazing authors and all the ficlets I've been seeing all over my dash. There's so much life and love in this fandom and I adore reading every single thing I come across.

MUST READS
These are fanfiction that I feel like are must reads. Separated by Fandom. Enjoy!
MCU
🐐Death Before Inaction is literally one of the best Peter Parker fics I've ever read, if you want skewed dynamics, no slash, an OP Peter, and really good story telling this is for you.
The Anomaly is an amazing Into the Spiderverse fic that really goes into Miles character and how giving up; doing everything in your power to prevent something and then it happens anyways, can destroy you and change your perspective. And on the other side how choices can make you regret them.
Bound by a Promise to the Moon is an Avengers work that is focused on characters and relationships between people who have drifted apart. It is IronStrange but nothing in your face for the most part 💀 you can skip those parts if you don't like it😁. It really is worth the read though.
Crossovers
Gaming Spider is a MCU fic that is Peter-centric but be warned because they dropped 8 chapters on the same day in 2022 and haven't updated since. It's so entertaining because Peter just has the Gamer Power (basically Litrpg elements) and grows increasingly stronger after every encounter, and the plot makes sense and isn't only based on the system.
All of the heroes and all of the men, couldn’t save Tommy from getting kidnapped again is such a bias rec on my part, I like crossovers that are done correctly and I was a mcyt and dsmp follower (not really watcher, I can't commit to anything) and this is a story changed by the characters, where the original plot is nothing but a memory to help character development. God I love character development.
BNHA
🐐Parallax is a BNHA fic that is SI and I KNOW BUT HERE ME OUT is basically like if Todoroki was haunted by a physics loving astronomer that made him feel more like someone else, but still kept a lot of what makes him, him. It's so good, like touched me so deeply that I have a hard time explaining it.
A Study In Deceit is a BNHA fic (I know) that is SO FUNNY, basically Bakugou is BBC's Sherlock, but has hid it for all his life, he does cases on the side and turns them in anonymously to the police. It's really good if you're looking for Todoroki and Bakugou friendship.
Foresight now this, this is crack. Want a BNHA fic that speeds through the story in ways that are so funny? Want someone doing something without a clue why? READ THIS. If you know the plot of BNHA it's sometimes easy to guess why he's doing what he's doing but the reactions of other characters is sooo good.
RONIN, ronin, ronin, ronin. This thing is the best ever, BNHA, op Midoriya but now you might be scrolling past, but... It's SO GOOD, BOHB_STEVENS IS A GENIUS this fic was made to practice fighting and ohhhhh did they get plently of practice. If you like fighting scenes that are descriptive, easy to understand, and EXHILARATING read this.
Magneto is an amazingly different BNHA SI fic, where really the story stays the same but I'm a simple person and slice of life interactions can be just as fun as fighting and complicated story telling (the storytelling is good btw) . I think I you want a little angst mixed with mostly good times and crack you should read this.
Pinwheel Eyes is a BNHA if Midoriya had a quirk. But once again the story is original they aren't afraid to make unpopular decisions to keep realism, and he has to win to keep people alive, not just have plot armor. I think if you want amazing fights and to be surprised over and over with how good this is you should read it
Crossovers
🐐A Massacre of One is a BNHA/Worm crossover that is something out of a dream for me. Super long, well written, fight scenes, character development, and well done implementation of other stories elements. With quirks it makes it easy, but still the reactions of others when they figured out what happened is AHHH and the way they make them go through the story is amazing too. Big props to the writer.
Si Vis Pacem is a BNHA/John Wick fic where John Wick (would it be SI?) is reincarnated into Midoriya, and it's pretty good, ngl it updates like 3 times a year so it's been a minute since I've read it, but I remember really liking it.
Be Careful What You Ask Your God is a BNHA and Chainsaw Man crossover where once again (I know I said it wasn't the norm) the characters are the story, here they took a different approach and didn't even focus on the main characters of BNHA and just how the mc's of chainsaw man would live in that world, but the LORE (matpat😭) is interesting.
Misc.
Harry Potter
Porcupine Quills & Potion Spills A Harry Potter (Snape-centric) work. This fic is pretty good, but it's not TOP top tier. The reason it's here is because I've been looking for another fic that has this same idea but none have done it this certain way and I really like the idea. Now it is on Hiatus but its only been a few months, so they'll probably be back (man I hope so).
Crossovers
A Wand for Skitter is a Harry Potter and Worm crossover (if you haven't read worm and appreciate modern sci-fi/eldritch original works you should read it) but the characters are amazing, nothing seems cheap and the ending, THE ENDING it was so good.
Stranger Things
I really didn't mean to hurt anyone is a Stranger Things story that had Steve as Seven. The choices with the way the story is going makes sense and again the characters are so well written. His powers are original and make the story even better and even gets him into some unsavory situations.
Worm

Kuroko's Basketball
Ball Is Life, But You Still Need To Pay Rent before anything, this work is on hiatus (it hasn't updated since 2022) it's a Kuroko's Basketball fic that is a SI but omg this si is not a John Doe he is so out of pocket I'm not gonna spoil it a lot but if you like the anime you should read this you'll have fun.
The Saga of Tanya the Evil
The Chronicles of Tanya the Fuehrer is another Tanya fic where it's after the war ends, the beginning is amazing, she does get a bit ooc in some parts but other than that the story itself is so entertaining and how they describe things and paint a picture is so beautiful.
Crossovers
A Young Girl's Guerrilla War is a Code Geass and The Saga of Tanya the Evil crossover. It's if Tanya died and was reincarnated again into code geass (another war so on brand) it's something special because it feels like an AU, which so many crossovers can't accomplish, they just follow the plot of the story with new characters without changing the world based on their characters actions. This story is Amazing and something that should become a norm within the trope.

Weapon Reforged is something everyone should experience even if they don't know the fandom (I'm not even gonna say it but don't be pushed off once you see it because the story is original and uses characters simple traits to build new ones off of) it's an amazing work of art that is near and dear to me in a big way, it hasnt updated since 2021 but you have to, HAVE TO read this.
Crossovers
All of the heroes and all of the men, couldn’t save Tommy from getting kidnapped again is such a bias rec on my part, I like crossovers that are done correctly and I was a mcyt and dsmp follower (not really watcher, I can't commit to anything) and this is a story changed by the characters, where the original plot is nothing but a memory to help character development. God I love character development.
Blue Lock
A Child's Dream is a Blue Lock fic that is the only reasonabley lengthed fic that isn't slash that I have found. Theres a lot of simping for Isagi but that's normal enough. The development is interesting and keeps you engaged and the interactions are funny and so out of left pocket most of the time.
Déjà Vu is a Blue Lock fic that is probably abandoned, but the idea and execution make up for it, it's also short so don't worry about slogging through 100,000 words then figuring out it's abandoned. It's kind of crack-like but more serious than you would expect.
Miraculous Ladybug
(pockets full of) Stones is a Miraculous Ladybug one shot that is somewhat tear inducing and very realistic. Want a AroAce Adrien Agreste? READ THIS

hey, your fics on ao3 are actually saving my life rn. i’m not doing amazingly atm and reading your “breathe again” and “home to you” fics about tommy struggling with mental health (admittedly in a slightly different way to me) is somehow making it all so much easier to cope with.
i’m so in love with the dynamic of alfie being completely head over heels for tommy, despite tommy feeling utterly broken and despising everything about himself - it really does give me hope that perhaps i’m not entirely hopeless and unlovable either, even if sometimes i’m about as mentally stable as tommy is.
but yeah, idk - i don’t think any of that made a lot of sense, but i just wanted you to know what a positive impact your writing has had upon me.
and seriously, fucking wow- you’re absolutely amazing at writing - i have never read better, more in-character tommy and alfie fics. the way you create the angst and attraction between them is just everything to me and i hope you keep writing this pairing forever!
also, i was wondering - how long did it take you to learn to write like this? did you study creative writing formally or are you self taught (if you don’t mind me asking)? your use of words is just mesmerising and i’d love to think that one day i could be able to write as beautifully as you do.
anyway, thank you for all that you have done for the tommy/alfie community. seriously, you should see the indirects you get on twitter (you’re like the ceo of this ship at this point)
Firstly: This was an absolutely wonderful message to receive, and made my whole week. Secondly: this reply is long so my apologies in advance!
You make complete sense. And, not to get way to personal here, but I think it’s a very human and common feeling to be afraid that we’re unlovable when we’re at our lowest points and probably need it the most ❤️ One of the reasons I write is because it’s an escape and a comfort (and well, a huge struggle, but in the end the positives outweigh the negatives). And knowing someone else finds that through reading my fics is the biggest compliment I could ever receive, and reminds me why I do always slog through the more challenging parts of writing to finish things and put them out there for people to read.
Thank you for your kind words ❤️ I suppose I feel that my characterization isn’t spot on, but I’ve aimed for one that feels ’true’ within the setting and circumstances of the story, if that makes sense, and I’m so happy you like it. I’m wholly unable to cope with this incredible praise, but at least I can answer your question: I don’t have any formal education in creative writing. But I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing -though I mostly read in my native language (Swedish), I do try to define what I enjoy about my favorite writers’ works, and while I’m not skilled enough to always put that knowledge to use, I’d like to think that it’s helped me in some ways. As for how long it took me to learn how to write (though I definitely feel like I’m fumbling around in the dark from time to time and like I’ve learned nothing) I wrote and posted my first fanfic in English when I was 17 (a true blood fanfic I haven’t re-read since, and probably wouldn’t like to), wrote some more stuff that I never posted, and then began writing PB fic… six years ago or something? I’m 29 now, so I suppose you could say that I’ve got a few years of writing under my belt now. But I’d say that I’ve improved the most over those last PB years, simply because I’ve written so much over that period of time. And the more I write, the more critical my eye has become. And I still feel like I’m learning more every time I sit down to write.
And I fully believe anyone can learn to write, especially in a setting like fanfic, because I’ve always felt it’s a very encouraging and ’free’ environment. At least that’s been the case in the corner I’ve been in. There’s always someone out there who’ll enjoy what you put out there. And I know it’s cliché, but the key really is to just keep at it, so a huge dose of enthusiasm and self indulgence is important. I’ve got heaps of stuff that I’ve written and never posted, just because I’ve had an idea I wanted to explore. And I’ve made my peace with the fact that I’ll never be quite as skilled at writing in English as in Swedish, and won’t always find the perfect words, because as long as I write something that excites me in some way, I know there’ll be at least one other person out there who’ll enjoy it too. I try to just make it as good as I can with the tools I’ve got.
Again, thank you ❤️ ❤️ ❤️  I don’t know what else to say, but please know I’ll be back to re-read this message many times. And I hope you’ll be happy to hear there’s a new chapter coming tomorrow -please consider it a thank you gift!
PS I’m not on twitter so I don’t know what goes on over there but now I’m dying because I need to see 👀 the indirects 👀 What are they saying?? 👀 the curiosity is killing me!

18. Are there any fics or authors that have been particularly influential or inspiring to you?
Oh my god SO MANY. @blueink3 creates amazingly well-crafted stories, @mostlyinthemorning is so creative and somehow manages to make actual magic feel real. The privilege of living in @indomitable-love’s documents has taught me so much about writing in general but I live in awe of her ability to evoke feelings and craft metaphors that feel like looking at beautiful artwork. @clottedcreamfudge’s ability to churn out a stunning, fully-formed 5k story in the time that I’ve slept will never stop leaving me in awe but it’s her combination of humour, some of the sexiest smut I’ve ever read and feelings that drew me to her writing long before she was part of my daily life. I wish I could create AUs like @iboatedhere who somehow creates a whole universe that feels lived-in and real no matter whether it’s a <1k ficlet or 70k+ multichap and every single time her characterisation is on point. And of course, my beloved @welcometololaland and the way everything she writes - funny or sexy or a character study or all of the above - is infused with so much love.
I could say so much more about many other writers, but I’ll leave it there 💖
29. Are there any characters, relationships, or general character dynamics you've never written about but would like to try?
Not a particular character, but I’d like to try my hand at outsider pov.
31. Do you prefer writing from a single character's perspective or switching between different viewpoints?
It depends on the story really, sometimes I feel compelled to write it from both perspectives, other stories are really more about one character than the other, but I think really good writing has the ability to show you what the other character is thinking and feeling even through the MC’s (for the purpose of the fic) pov and I try to achieve that.

Five Fic Friday
Parched by @chocolatepot (3.8k) Absolutely lovely character study of Mary after Stede leaves (the first time). Her slow recognition of this opportunity to grow, and her connection with Doug, are beautifully written.
Haunt You Down by fluorescentgrey (12.9k) Ed/Stede, post-S1. Ed is in a whorehouse looking for someone who seems a bit like Stede, when who should he hear in the next room? This is funny and hot and devastatingly tragic, and the writing is just incredible. It broke my heart and wrung out the pieces and I love it anyway.
all dressed up by afterism (11.5k) Ed/Stede, post-E7, part of the kissing is what lovers do (and we're not lovers) series. I read this (and possibly recced it) back when it was first posted, but I came back to it, and knowing how the series ends, God, the extra heartbreak of it is so absolutely fantastic.
Not with a bang but a whimper by heartroots (6k) Ed/Stede, post-S1. Reunion fic where Ed keeps thinking about how much he likes it when Stede orders him around. Not super deep or life-changing, but godDAMN is it hot! A+++ porn.
forgive & forget by fool_for_love (44k) Ed/Stede, post-S1. Stede gets amnesia while he's back with Mary, and forgets the past few months – piracy, the Revenge, the crew, everything. But he has this idea that someone named Ed is important, so he goes looking for him with nothing more than a name... only to get captured and held prisoner by Blackbeard. Who seems really mad at Stede for some reason? Also, why will no one tell him who Ed is? So, so well-written, amazingly sharp-edged at points, and with a delightful happy ending.
The first four are Izzy-safe by virtue of Izzy not appearing in any of them; ‘forgive & forget’ I went back and forth on, but I think though the Stede POV has a shitty take on Izzy (a fair characterization choice!), ultimately the plot itself plays fair with him.

Sarah! Happy Birthday! I recently reread "things to come" since it's a personal all time favorite, and while it's both amazingly written and structured, there was just this "something" it had that made me go gooey in every way. It took awhile to really pinpoint what it was but I realize that it's how you view and characterize Steve as a whole. I know there's a largely accepted headcanon of Steve having unhealed trauma, unhealthy habits, and PTSD (very reasonable because all of the characters have been through so much), but in a lot of the other fanfiction works I've read, his episodes or possible symptoms are depicted in a very fetishistic way. In a way he is "babygirlified", or put into a submissive role that is more like an uncomfortable caricature of who he really is. This has shown up in general works as well as NSFW work.
Everyone is free to interpret things how they choose, but I have a particular itch I must scratch since I'm a lover of psychology and the affects of mental illness on the brain. I also actually really support the adopted headcanon of the Stranger Things characters developing some form of post traumatic stress as a result of the continuous near death experiences they've faced.
A direct quote explaining Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or C-PTSD: "Survivors with Complex PTSD have a very difficult time with emotions -- experiencing them, controlling them, and for many, just being able to comprehend or label them accurately..." [beautyafterbruises.org] this website actually does a great job of explaining the affects of this illness if you ever want to read about it.
This can be labelled as Emotional Disregulation. The symptoms and reactions aren't something to be romanticized: episodes can cause one to lash out in defense, lie for fear of what "is" or what they suspect is happening (could be a physical or emotional flashback), isolate themselves to feel "safe", dissociation and a low self esteem, guilt delusions that have your entire body feeling "wrong", an inability to see yourself as anything other than bad or shameful or different even when told otherwise, issues with memory. Your brain is working on a completely different level than someone else; all the cogs working ten times harder.
And I think there's just such a human beauty to how you depict Steve [as well as the other characters] because I very much see reflections of the real side of this illness in your characterization. Intentional or not. Yes, he is flawed: he was a bully, he lies, he makes mistakes, he gets defensive, and he pushes and pushes until his body can't bear it anymore. On all accounts, it makes sense why he's so willing to give himself up at any given chance and I wouldn't be surprised if he expects the people he loves to abandon him. Steve may be damaged, but he makes up for it in his loyalty and character. He tries and tries, a protector through and through, he's understanding and soft, kind and blessed with a snarky attitude, he loves deeply and gives it his all even when it's unrequited. Most importantly though, despite Steve being a contender for mental illness in this form, you still stay true to him as a person. He isn't boiled down to be this one dimensional post it note of a character. You've executed this with all of the cast actually - they feel fleshed out and real and so so human. You emphasize the importance of connection, of care, of patience and understanding. Whether that's through his friendship with Robin, his interactions with Jim and Wayne, or his relationship with Eddie. To have true friendships, people that truly care to sit with you through the ugly side of things, it's amazing. You've written a delicious piece of literature that has so many layers; I still find myself studying how you did it. But I'm so glad you did. I cannot wait to read your newest update as I'm sure it will be just as good as the last. This message extends to @lesbianrobin since they seem to be your "partner in crime", blessed thanks to the both of you.
🧜‍♂️
THANK YOU this is so sweet and means so much to me <3 :’) i spend so much time thinking abt how everything that’s happened would affect steve, and if the show doesn’t want to talk about it then i will!!! i was also a psych major so i am glad i can at least use my degree to write stranger things fanfiction hehe

You know, for me the Inhumans story is not a story about disability, but it is a story that has disability as a major theme. It was probably not intended, and it is often dealt awfully, but it is a major theme that has been there since we were introduced to Black Bolt, the powerful king who can’t speak, remained with the addition of the Genetic Council and eugenics, and got some attempts at getting better with characters like Reader and Grid.
But maybe because it happened unintended, there isn’t any storyline that deals with it properly, in my opinion. And I really, really would like to see one well-written story about it, canon or fanfic (I trust fanfic a little more because there are more chances of an actually disabled author)
(If you are interested, the fic series Blue is an amazingly well written story about the Boltagon family that explores disability themes in a way that feels very respectful as far as I can tell. It’s probably my fav long fic in this fandom)
There are so many things that could be explored! Black Bolt gets some recognition, but what about Maximus with his “madness” that is more often than not shorthand for “unpredictable evil” and more recently “the gift of seeing the future”. He lost his hands recently! What about Triton, who can’t breathe air and who was portrayed with what could be a communication disorder once? What about Karnak having no powers and “compensating” for it with study? What about the kids born after the cloud was destroyed, who will probably not fit the expectations of their parents that lived in the world of universal terrigenesis?
If I could propose one thing to Marvel, this would be it

Hello, we have aready translated and added 5 new chapters of our Snarry ff "Desiderium Intimum" in english. We've also added almost all of 75 illustrations that has been created to our story 🥰 We plan to post 3-4 chapters a week, so the translation should be finished soon.
We wanted to share with you one of over 5000 comments we received to our story over the years, which is one of our favourite comment and amazingly sum up the whole story and the most important characteristic of our fanfic 🥰 Maybe it can let you have a brief idea about what to expect.
Comment by Wilczyca:
"This story is... substantial. I have never read something so well written, with such a narrative that the readers feel like they are standing right next to the characters, and it's all really happening, right in front of our eyes. No, it's not addictive, it sucks you in and makes you feel a need to read, read, read, forget about God's world, about the fact that you had to study, eat something, go to the toilet, and sometimes you even forget about breathing!
All the other Snarry fics are so... girly. What I mean is that Severus and Harry may have a bit of a quarrel there, but it ends very quickly and, true to a girl's sense of romance, they very quickly come to an agreement and head towards eternal happiness. Because it's so... good. Because everyone likes good endings and stories about reciprocated love. Because we were brought up in such a culture that basically everyone dreams about it. However, this romance shouldn't be easy, because there are too many differences between the characters for them to just get together and be happy. The second problem I noticed in other texts is that Snape is completely flat and does not behave at all like a thirty-something man who has had a hard time serving a psychopathic murderer. And this does not surprise me, because it is difficult to realistically portray such a character, it is difficult to empathize with him. Your Snape... is Snape-like. There is no sense of absurdity in your text, it's not read with a pinch of salt, it's not bus-reading and I think it makes an impression on the reader regardless of age, as long as they like such atmosphere. The narrative is absolutely amazing, Harry's stream of thoughts and feelings are described so smoothly and naturally that you feel as if you are thinking all these thought yourself, feeling all these feelings yourself.
Snape is so… frightening! Haha, that's the first thing that comes to my mind! He is also incredibly intelligent, mysterious, and sexy. At the beginning he is so aloof and closed off, but later, thanks to Harry's efforts, he opens up more and more, allows him to do more and more, and I really like how it was presented. Nothing changes too suddenly, it's 'transformation' occurs subtly and logically, the reader does not feel like there is a sudden jump. Snape is a very complex character and it's not easy to portray him, and I think no one has ever managed to do it like you did (not even Rowling xD)
Harry is absolutely delightful and disarming. At first I thought to myself; why is he so blinded, so naive and devoted?! But then I remembered that damn, he's only 17! And Severus is his first love. And basically his behavior reflects the idea of first, crazy, uncompromising love. Every scene of his fighting for Severus and trying to get closer to him is read with such warmth in the heart 😊
I also really like how Ron and Hermione are portrayed, but I like Luna even more. She is an extremely colorful and interesting character whose strangeness adds to her charm. Despite the fact that she seems to be constantly in the clouds, in between these strange behaviors she sometimes makes extremely accurate, hardheaded comments, and that's great!
The story is phenomenal as a romance, comedy, erotic and psychological text. Erotic scenes, even though there are so many of them, are very varied and there is no feeling of monotony. They are described in an extremely graphic way, with an emotional background and interesting poetic metaphors, which makes them very hot. When it comes to comedy scenes - I love your slightly mischievous and playful sense of humor! I'm sitting in the office and reading this, smiling like an idiot at the monitor and I just have to hold back with all my strength from bursting out laughing so as not to attract curious glances from other employees!
Love… well, love is always beautiful. But in your fic it's described in a wonderful, realistic and such sensitive way and blooms slowly like the most beautiful flower. Ultimately it overcomes all obstacles and changes an extremely mocking, mean person into… a slightly less mocking, mean man! But that's good, because if Snape suddenly became a cuddly mascot, the charm of this text would disappear forever xD
You can simply feel this text, I think you have great empathy, sensitivity, sense of humor, emotional maturity, and the ability to express it all with words. Each scene evokes great emotions.
Now that I've gone through the whole thing so pompously, at the end I wish you a long, happy life, lots of inspiration to write a thousand more Snarry pics and I suggest you start writing a novel with a world presented by yourself, because it will definitely win the Nobel Prize! Whatever you write, it will be great and I will definitely read it, even if you decided to read a book about planting beans xD I live in hope that I will soon see some new Snarry on the website or a sequel to Desiderium or a small miniature of your own creation! Good luck, girls! You guys have talent, I'll be damned if you don't!"
We want to thank all readers that's been with us for those 4.5 years of writing and helped us to finish the story and we hope that those, who haven't read it yet will love it too 🥰
