Tumblr media
♡ CYNO
you were just supposed to be revising some documents for your boss, cyno. after all, he had a meeting had to attend not even thirty minutes from the current time. you thought it would be simple enough, right? this wasn’t the first time he had asked you to do such a thing for him, but what was going on was something that wasn’t exactly professional.
cyno had you bent over his creaking desk. his hand was lying against your hip while he rutted himself into your squelching cunt that was squeezing him so perfectly he thought he would cum the moment he pushed into you. you were just too hard to resist with your cute black mini skirt that showed a little too much of your thighs. you were just too pretty. how could he possibly stop himself from completely ravaging your cunt?
“ah..! cyno, please..!” your cries echoed across the room, making him shove his fingers into your mouth to make you quiet down. the last thing he wanted was for someone to hear him fucking the absolute shit out of his assistant.
he leaned towards your ear, his breath fanning against the shell. “better keep quiet.. or else i’ll stop right now and leave you wondering what might have happened..” he whispered, which earned goosebumps to litter your delicate skin.
cyno’s pace began to suddenly quicken. he could feel himself growing closer to his orgasm. his cock twitched inside of you and that delicious high he had been chasing finally came over him. his cum seeped into your womb, filling you completely. you took it so nicely. it took everything in him to not want to go for round two.
he pulled out, adjusting his pants and leaving a small kiss on your cheek. “get dressed.. we still have a meeting.” he said, heading towards the door.
♡ NEUVILLETTE
being tasked with picking up lunch for the office sounded like a simple enough task. neuvillette had even offered to go with you so you didn’t have to carry all of the food items by yourself, so you happily agreed since he was your boss. he also drove so you didn’t have to use your own vehicle to transfer everything over.
it was fine, up until you both arrived into the parking lot of your office building.
your thighs were on either side of neuvillette’s lap. his thick cock was bullying your walls, reaching the most sensitive spots inside of your pussy. you hadn’t expected such a scene to unfold, but there was just way too much tension circling between you both to just leave the car without anything happening.
“n-neuvillette! ‘so good.. fuck!” you sobbed into his shoulder when you felt his thumb toying with your puffy clit.
neuvillette’s thrusts were erratic. he craved you for so fucking long that he wasn’t about to let the opportunity to fuck your brains out slip through his grasp. after all, you were his gorgeous assistant that he just couldn’t help but sneak glances at. “keep going, just like that, darling. fuck.. you take me so well..” he cooed, grunting a bit as your cunt squeezed his cock with such delight.
his arms went to snake around your waist. his pace became brutally quick as his high slowly crept upon him. all he wanted was you in that very moment.
he practically growled when his orgasm washed over him. his body trembled and he squeezed your ass hard enough to possibly leave a mark on your pretty skin. you were a complete mess and you weren’t sure how you were supposed to walk into the office afterwards.
♡ BAIZHU
becoming an assistant for a well known pharmacist was like a dream come true. he was a great boss, and you honestly hoped to become like him someday when you finally became a pharmacist for your own company. baizhu was truly great at his work.
he sent you on the way to fetch a prescription that was specifically just for him. this wasn’t an unusual occurrence since baizhu had some underlying illnesses that needed certain medications to treat, but you weren’t anticipating that something like this would be occurring instead of him taking his meds.
baizhu had you pressed against the wall. his cock was buried inside of your dripping pussy. you were both trying your best to remain quiet as your other coworkers were around making prescriptions for the other customers. you couldn’t deny that you and baizhu had thrown a few flirty comments towards one another. you just remained professionally due to the fact that he was in fact your higher up.
the tension eventually snapped, and you two pounced on one another. he pushed you into the closet and made your body burn with passion. “baizhu..! o-oh, god..” you whined, arching your back against his body. he was just too damn good.
he chuckled, dragging his fingertips along your flesh. he was honestly playing such a dangerous game right now. it was almost as if he was itching to make you cry out his name. “heh.. you’re such a pretty girl.. i never thought you would feel this great..” he smacked your ass harshly, making you wince from the contact of his palm.
his grunts began to increase in volume and his grip on your body had become much tighter. the way his balls slapped against your clit sent waves of pleasure over your body. you gasped as that white hot knot inside of you finally snapped, allowing your orgasm to fully pass over you. it was also at that moment baizhu finally came, letting his cum fill your walls.
the two of you both were completely messy and there was this lingering odor of sex that was wafting around the room. baizhu only laughed at your fucked out state. “you did great.. maybe i’ll promote you full time, hm?”
♡ WRIOTHESLEY
you were asked by your boss wriothesley to stay after hours to work on some other paperwork that needed to be done before the next week. it wasn’t out of the ordinary for him to ask you for such a request. plus, you were being paid overtime for doing it, so why the hell not?
however, your extra work wasn’t exactly what you thought it was going to be.
you were lying flat on your back with wriothesley thrusting himself into you. all of the papers that were on his desk were now scattered around and pushed over so you wouldn’t possibly ruin them. he was so big. wriothesley could see a little bulge every time he pushed himself into you. he thought it was so cute. you sprawled out on his desk with your pussy clamped around his big dick. your moans were the best part. there was no one around, so you could be as loud as you wanted without a single interruption.
“w-wriothesley! f-fuck.. you’re so big!” tears formed at your lash line from how intense the pleasure was. you hadn’t felt something like this in such a long time. it was unbearable.
he couldn’t hide the smirk that appeared on his scarred features. he couldn’t get enough of your sweet voice screaming in pleasure for just him. “you like this, baby? you’re so fuckin’ cute when you say my name like that..” he pressed his palm against your navel, feeling his cock stuffing you full. “so deep.. no wonder you’re a mess.”
his balls twitched, signaling that his orgasm was just around the corner. his pace then picked up, sending you over the edge. he was probably the best you had ever taken. there was no way you could ever sleep with someone else better than him. a groan rumbled in his throat as he reached his peak, squeezing your hips as his cum flooded your walls. he left so much, it made you shiver from the warmth.
he panted, chuckling as he came down from his orgasm. “heh.. we’re still alone, wanna go for round two?”

☆ASTRO FACTS☆ ♈️
The Aries Woman & Her Real Power ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Pt 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
**FYI - this blog contains mature content.
Time to clear up some misconceptions! And confirm some truths. So pull up your seat, grab a snack & prepare for TOTAL fucking honesty. 💯 While this post is primarily about Aries Suns, much of it can also be applied to other Aries placements in general. So take whatever resonates.
♈️ Aries Women are usually into more dominant, masculine types. They adore men who are stronger & smarter than them whom they can learn from. 👍While Aries Women are indeed fully capable of taking care of themselves, they love knowing that they can lean on and trust the man that they love if needed. They prefer reliable partners with backbone. They have NO respect for passive males, as they will DESTROY a weaker man's soul. 🔥 Eat him alive just like the large plant in the 'Little Shop of Horrors' movie. 🤣 It truly ain't pretty!
Tumblr media
♈️ Contrary to popular LIES... many Aries Women are VERY feminine. They aren't doormats though! Nor the girl-next-door type. Ram Women typically embody the "Hot Girl" or the "Femme Fatale" brand of Femininity. ❤️‍🔥 She's often the Leader of the pack whom other women model themselves after & want to be like. Jayne Mansfield, Diana Ross & Mariah Carey - Aries Sun 🌞; Sade, Janet Jackson, Pam Anderson - Aries Moon 🌙; Marilyn Monroe & Liz Taylor - Aries Venus ⚘️. Are any of these women Tomboys?? FUCK NO! They are womanly, spicy & passionate beings. Learn the damn difference.
I sometimes find that Taurus, Cancer & Virgo Women can push the "masculine" stereotype onto Aries Women the most because they wish to be more like them in certain ways. 💯 For instance, most Aries Women aren't taking care of ANY man. But I've seen Taurus paying for men, Cancer mothering men & Virgo trying to train men into being obedient dogs! Add to that, Scorpio Women are often control freaks who insist on leading. Sag & Aquarius Women are rebels who often try to compete with & emasculate any man that they encounter. So who's actually lacking in Femininity here?? Not Aries, from what I see. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Lots of projection going on.
Tumblr media
♈️ Aries Women are indeed outspoken. They are typically confident & in possession of strong boundaries. They are open & honest communicators who aren't afraid to ask for what they want. Most Men LOVE this about them and wish more women were like this! 🩷 Alternatively, deep inside of every Ram Woman is a sweet, adventurous little girl with a heart of GOLD who yearns to feel safe. ❤️‍🔥 A maiden wanting her protector! They're an astonishing blend of pure innocence like the Spring Goddess Persephone + the wit & warrior spirit of Goddess Athena. 🙌 There are sooo many interesting layers to the Aries Woman!! It's insanely fascinating. They are deeply selective with who they disclose all of this to, though. So they can be misunderstood at times.
♈️ Aries Women are Masters of keeping men ON THEIR TOES in a healthy way. They like men and men adore them. 👌 They highly value autonomy, so they extend that to their partners and give them breathing room. They inspire men to be better, more powerful versions of themselves. They do have tempers!! But they don't hold grudges and their sex more than makes up for the trouble. 😺 They are playful and NEVER boring! How TF do you think we keep attracting the best of the best?? Not by being a Basic Bitch, my friends. 🤣
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♈️ According to Marriage Statistics: Aries Women have the longest-lasting marriages with Leo Men, Sagittarius Men, Aquarius Men & Aries Men. ⚘️⚘️ After that, we also have solid odds with Capricorn & Taurus Men. We most often divorce Virgo, Gemini & Libra Men which makes TOTAL sense to me. Not surprised! Aries Women do not enjoy flaky and/or nitpicky partners.
♈️ Aries Women are just as sensitive & intuitive as Cancers in certain ways - we just follow our GUT instincts more than the emotions of our heart. 🔥 We're rarely wrong about someone's character. We bully the bullies! And *if* we care about you, we have your back until the very end. But if you betray us?? You will go from feeling like the most special person in the world... to the most worthless piece of gum scraping off the bottom of our shoe as we walk away from you FOREVER. 🙌 Do not play with us!! Don't play yourself by losing the best prize you'll ever have.
Tumblr media
That's all for now, darlings. Happy Aries Season!! ♈️ And thanks so very much for all of the new follows, shares & support!

how do decide what ratio of documenting fake leftists to pictures of scantily clad hot men you post on your blog
I don't really have a ratio. 😐 Reblogging pictures of hot men and male celebs is something I was doing from the very beginning when I first made this blog. It's only been in the last 6 months that I've started calling out Leftists who don't practice what they preach (or are just being assholes in general), and a lot of that has to do with the rise of antisemitism since October 7th, the ongoing bullying/harassment I've seen Leftists/Westerners direct at my Jewish friends and followers while trying to gaslight them into thinking their cruelty and abusive behavior isn't real (Which is a big reason I've started saving and reblogging screenshots like that: So they're not able to pull that shit and get away with it), the way people have brushed aside the plight of Ukraine like it's a non-issue now, and just how disgusted and angry I've been at seeing the Left abandon the morals and values they claim to uphold because it's not convenient for them to do so anymore.
Believe me: I would love nothing more than to go back to just having this be a blog with hot men and male celebs (with the occasional cool finds and fandom posts), but all this other crap is going on, and I'm choosing to be here for my friends to support them, so here we are.

People really out there acting like the lackluster queer rep isn't tied to the fact that RT is a bigoted piece of shit company huh. Fucking wild lol.
Also really funny how they ignored the fact that you've talked about and reblogged posts about that RT being a bigoted, abusive piece of shit company. What, are you not allowed to talk about one of the multiple ways RT sucks when she's already covered all of the other crap they've done several times over? Do you need a disclaimer on every post that goes over all of RT's crimes?
Actually maybe we're onto something! Maybe you could add a long list of RT's crimes to every post so no one who reads them can escape from being reminded that RT is a vile, morally-bankrupt company that only cares about taking your money. :D Just really rub in that guilt for anyone who's even remotely defending anything RT does!
People will do whatever they can to pretend that 'RT' and 'CRWBY' have absolutely no overlap and that 'RT' and 'RT Higher Ups' has nothing to do with 'RWBY.' Why? Because they personally can't justify supporting RT in any way, they can't justify watching RT made stuff without being critical of it, and they can't justify enjoying something made by and influenced by RT. So they have to pretend that RWBY somewhere is entirely separate and entirely pure and entirely above criticism and that CRWBY is entirely wholly 'Not a part of RT' and that RWBY being on Crunchyroll is proof that watching RWBY doesn't help RT or bad business practices in any way. (btw I personally don't believe that watching or liking RWBY is bad, it's not the exact same thing as Harry Potter, I think talking about and liking RWBY is perfectly fine just so long as you acknowledge that it isn't perfect and are willing to critically analyze it as part of Rooster Teeth.)
And it's really funny because every time I'm like "what about the existence of Miles Luna" every so called progressive anti-rwde RWBY loving fan suddenly just be like
Tumblr media
Somehow, me calling out Miles Luna or pointing out how he was the head of animation at Rooster Teeth - aka, a RT Higher Up - for literal years, is something that they just never happen to see, so they can go on pretending that RWBY and RT don't overlap at all.
These people will say I'm being biphobic for pointing out the difference between coding and confirmation despite being a bisexual woman with tons of queer ships who writes queer fanfictions where I make ninety percent of my favorite characters including Blake and Yang openly and unapologetically bisexual and despite the fact that I'm actually actively pushing for more and better queer confirmation... And then when I say "hey by the way remember how Miles Luna told a 'funny' story about how his drunk girlfriend was making out with a friend and he and other guys stood around oogling it because it was just so hot that it made them super turned on and then went on to say that he wasn't threatened by it like he would be if they were men because women didn't have what he had?' They just shut their eyes and put their hands over their ears going "la la la la la" and never once condemn that or even acknowledge it and then will turn around and post on their own blog about how rwde posters are bullying poor helpless progressive Miles Luna for being brave enough to have two women hold hands and look at each other long enough to make fans feel like they might kiss next season.
These people will say that rwde posters are secretly misogynists for saying we want Jaune to be less involved in the show and then when I'm like "hey, do you guys remember when Miles made tweets calling Tifa Lockhart a prostitute for wearing clothes he said were 'somethin' else' and do you remember when he made a youtube video called 'video games for your girlfriends' where he basically said women were too dumb to play hard video games but if you tricked her into thinking she was doing okay at a simple one, maybe she'd jerk you off? And do you remember when people posted pictures of him happily lounging with a body pillow of a then sixteen year old Ruby with the caption 'careful miles, she's still only sixteen' and I think he liked the tweet instead of being like 'what the fuck?' And also I don't know much about it but he apparently made a podccast called 'Fan Service' with Gray Haddock and that doesn't sound super feminist" And they once again just ignore me completely and pretend they didn't see that part of my post and then turn around and be like "well my latest interaction with RWDE has proven that they DOUBLY hate women because they HATE the guy who made the pixels that are named Ruby Rose look like a woman!"
These people will tell me that I don't care enough about RT's controversies and bigotry despite the fact that I've talked about it over and over and reblogged other blogs talking about it over and over (including a post where I told people to be careful to not harass random voice actors and animators demanding answers because the problem was clearly people who were higher up) because I don't post about it all the time without ever mentioning RWBY again (wonder why they want that -_-) but then when I'm like "Hey guys, remember the fact that Miles Luna the person who helped create RWBY and has been like one of the lead writers since RWBY's creation was also a literal Rooster Teeth higher up who was head of animation for years AKA a Rooster Teeth Higher Up," they again just fucking ignore that. And then turn around and post about how RWDE posters don't care enough about animators somehow and how we're being mean to the poor defenseless indefinable 'crwby.'
Anti-rwdes do not give a shit about misogyny, they do not give a shit about queer representation, they do not give a shit about the endless controversies of RT, they do not give a shit about examining the content made by horrible people, they do not give a shit about making sure bigots don't get platformed, they do not give a shit about even acknowledging things that are problematic. They only want the media they like to be considered above criticism so that they can watch it without feeling any bad feelings.

Well for some reason known only to the tumblr Gods my 4,000 post, 3000+ follower blog was nuked... but have no fear all you skinny muscle lovers! Stay tuned, I'm gonna come back, sort of starting over by digging up some old classics to compliment my new finds!
This post was my favorite post on my old blog and I appreciate all feedback thanks
A couple of years back I had the experience of my life when I met a very tough skinny muscle scrapper. We met on a fight site where he goes by the name Boxmyfacein and I am known as Muscle Bully. We agreed to have a hard NHB scrap in MMA gloves. We had been talking for years about having a fight that would symbolically determine who would be the top bunk if we were ever to share a prison cell. I knew from reading about some of his previous matches, he had an impressive record, but few if any of his triumphs were over men as muscled as me. I am trained in wrestling and boxing, and I thought that although he had beaten bigger, I would offer him a challenge he would not be able to meet.
At the time I was 5'10 180 he was 5'9 125. I did not think it would be a cake walk, but I truly did not believe that he would be able to overcome my size and advantage in power.
It was a hot summer evening, and when I saw him, he was looking good in a striped tank top. His slim, taut hard body was glistening with a light coating of sweat. As good as his pictures are, he looked better than I imagined and I was ready to fight. Ready to show this cocky skinny muscle boy that there was no way he was going to topple this Bully.
We got to my place and we were getting along really well as we laid out the mats for the fight. We put on our MMA gloves and then we went at it. There was no feeling out period, we both just went all out trying to beat and dominate one another. As we fought, I was amazed at how well he took my shots to his face. Truth is, he liked it, and it was as though he absorbed my energy with each shot I landed. As I was not gaining any advantage in the stand-up, I thought it might be time to take him down and overwhelm him with my size. I was able to get on top, immobilize him, but his defenses were good and I was unable to land many good punches.
He eventually escaped and we were back on our feet where we essentially remained for a the rest of a fight with a few ground clashes interspersed here and there. About 45 minutes in, it became obvious to me, he was not going down. He was getting stronger and more brutal while I was losing power.
Eventually I was on my back, and he was on top. His punches were non stop.. I rolled to my stomach, but he just choked me, made me tap, and re-assumed his top position. This went on until I started saying, "I can't believe you beat me, over and over again.. We finally decided to end the fight there because the skinny muscle scrapper was the clear winner. The Muscle Bully was beat.
It became obvious that the sheer number of previous fights he had gave him the ability to over come my advantages in size and power. He bloodied my nose and my face whereas he was unmarked. It was a beautiful sight and I cherish the blood-stained wife beater I wore as a memento of this awesome experience.
I wouldn't say I was humiliated just because the experience was so incredible. We remain friends and look forward to being able to one day fight again

Omg what was up with that Feysand stan on ur post????? ITS JUST A THEORY. (Not to mention a MUCH better pairing) and lol if Feysand was always endgame why in the fck does Rhysie SA Feyre??? Did Sjm do that to build sexual tension (cause Feyre says in Acomaf she had "wanted him even then") AND THAT'S INFINITELY WORSE!!
Lmao they tried to fire up on one of my posts too and I immediately blocked them. Seen them one too many times fighting about posts that's none of their business. Like life is so empty u need to fight with strangers on the internet to feel something. I am literally so mad not them saying Tamlin Apologists deserve to be bullied?!?!? For liking a fictional character????!!
I took personal offence to that
Ha! See! I told you I would respond today. I totally didn't get sucked into Skyrim and my writing and nearly forgot.
Idk what their problem was. They blocked me like the first week I was on here so I didn't think much of them. I knew about them because there would be discourse on posts and an invisible opponent. So I guess they unblocked me to stir shit and idk, get more traffic to their blog? They rebranded with a name that is clearly meant to draw in Antis of Feysand. I think they're like 15 and so I guess they're in their "I'm edgy look at me phase" where they want to pick fights because they think they're always right and special. I'm so glad I didn't grow up with my cringe behavior on the internet. This is why we don't sell erotica or "dark romance" to children. They can't handle speculation or discussions. I bet they cry over Marvel's What If... series because it's not Canon. Like... the post that had them all fired up was speculation about something we have receipts for. And a lot of people liked the idea. All they do is make the books look worse.
And the way they talk about Feyre vs. Nesta is like they think they're written by two different people. This isn't Harry Potter (fuck you Rowling) vs. Twilight (fuck you Meyers). I don't think Feyre gets a free pass to transform into a person of another race just cuz Nesta and Gwyn modelled their stuff after the Valkyries. I think both are bad and icky because the same author wrote both and clearly doesn't see how offensive that could be. I do, however, think that there's a difference between what Feyre did and the Blood Rite. Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie were kidnapped and forced into the Blood Rite. They didn't actually choose to.
Side note though: Valkyries are from Norse mythology. It does chap me that she couldn't use a mythology or create something new for her Illyrians to flesh out their culture. She just used a primarily white culture for her non-white character's culture.
Sorry to rant about that. It just irked me.
I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would ship Feysand the way it's written in Canon. I can with 100% confidence say I've never written a romance that involved anyone SAing anyone. Hell, I don't feature SA at all really. I don't want it in my fantasy. I want people to find peace and love in my books. Men have written enough SA in fantasy, it doesn't need any from me.
But like... if you look at their posts, the reason I don't like Feyre is because I wanted "my fav" to end up with Rhys. They can't fathom that I don't like Rhys at all. I don't like any of her men. They don't appeal to me at all. The only one I might’ve had any inkling of interest in is Kallias but I'm sure if we spent more than a handful of pages with him, I'd hate him too. I think she'd eventually change all of them regardless of appearance to something shallow and toxic. The Bat Boys specifically are boring to me. Their designs suck, their personalities suck and the way they treat their women sucks. Nothing I see in her books is what I would classify as love. Her books aren't about love. They're about sex with hot dudes. But you know what? Other books do romance, love and even just sex better.
I'm glad you blocked them. Just know, they still spy on us.
Thank you for your ask. I hope you're doing well.

i mean kinda get it its just discouraging to send in asks to a blog wanting to talk to them and not get it a response back like it really feels like you only respond to the same people over and over i’ve sent in a handful of asks talking about things you’ve posted and I think you’ve replied to like maybe one it just make it feel like your not interested unless it’s one of your friends
Please tell me at what point you consider this bullying? Cause while I don’t agree what they said, it’s respectful. They explain how they are feeling, whether you agree is a different topic. But I’ve seen at least 3 posts dragging this person. And you’re feeding into it. I’m happy to defend you over the ABO situation and the country anon. Those times were justified. And you still didn’t drag those anons as much as you currently are. You got the same negative energy and shut that down. I like your content, you seem like a nice person, but I’m also not to act like this doesn’t feel like high school drama and choose to participate. But don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll tell me that if I don’t like it unfollow. And I’ll do you one better. I’ll just block you. But I would hope that you grow up just a little bit.
you know what, babe, just block me then! because nothing I say is clearly gonna change your mind on how you feel. the a/b/o situation was someone trying to accuse me of being racist, and the country anon wasn’t even about me but another anon. those were entirely different situations at play.
and I never said they were bullying me. this is just people feeling entitled and pissy about something I do for free. I’m not getting paid. I don’t want to be fucking paid for it. I’m here because I enjoy writing and I enjoy posting and I enjoy answering asks and talking to people about silly little things. I don’t fucking appreciate it when they act like me not answering asks is shitty or that I somehow know which ones they’ve sent. we are all strangers on the internet. no one owns anybody anything. if they feel discouraged to send more asks because I can’t answer them straight away, then I’m sorry they feel that way because that’s not something I can change or help with.
I think I’m acting perfectly reasonable for an adult. maybe it’s the anons who are getting pissy and upset about me not answering their asks (ones of which I still don’t know what or when they sent) are the ones who need to grow up. this is a fucking tumblr blog. the fact this has even blown up to this extent is ridiculous when it’s literally about a couple of thoughts about hot men.
I’m very much entitled to feel just as spiteful as they feel about me not answering their asks because I’m a human, not a machine. I’m not just here to answer every single ask I’m sent and have no life outside of this blog.

Untitled, Pt. 8
Parts 1-7 can be found on my blog.
Maura turns to Frankie, too stunned to speak, mouth open. He balks. “Well… wait a minute. We don’t belong to you, Doyle. We’re in a… mutually beneficial partnership, here.”
Paddy puts his hands up. “It was a statement made for the extended metaphor, kid,” he says to Frankie.
“I… what is it, exactly, that you do together? Because you’re making it sound like you hunt werewolves,” Maura raises her voice. Both of the men at the table flinch, and then she thinks maybe that’s not the part that should be said the loudest. No one else in the bar seems to notice or care. “And that can’t be right.”
“You’re right,” Frankie tells her, mimicking Paddy’s posture of elbows on the table. “It’s not really right. We more play defense. Most of the time.”
Paddy smirks. “Most of the time.”
“So… you’re protecting the proverbial village?” Maura presses, surveying the both of them, watching for lies. It all reads as so fantastical. And, oh, has Paddy lied to her before.
“We’re protecting the literal city,” Frankie says strongly. “Our city. And this particular group of… guys, they’re bad news for any city, really.”
“It’s all business, Maura,” says Paddy. “Jones and his guys came late to a game they want to run, a game I ran first.”
“So this is about drugs,” Maura replies snidely. “Or is it the weapons?”
“You don’t need to know,” Paddy tells her. “You just need to know that they are trying to take food out of my mouth. Out of your family’s mouths.”
“You’re not-” Maura breathes because a fight would derail her fact-finding mission. She addresses Frankie instead. “And what do you and Jane have to do with all of this?”
“We know how dangerous these guys are,” Frankie offers. “They’re big, they’re fast, and they muscled in on Paddy by ripping men apart, one by one.”
“And you care whether or not Irish mobsters die,” Maura states, doesn’t ask. She doesn’t buy it on its face.
“I care about bullies pickin’ on people who have no recourse. I got a real fuckin’ problem with cowards that terrorize the weak, all because they can,” Frankie asserts. He growls like Jane does, and Maura hears the nonhumanness in it that lights up her nervous system like an airport runway.
There is clearly more. But she values her throat on the inside of her body, so she doesn’t ask him more, or ask him why, or analyze his anger. He is brimming with history, though. Somehow she knows.
She wants Jane here.
“The Rizzolis are old,” says Paddy. “Which means they’re strong. If they keep my guys safe, I keep them paid. So far, they do a really good job.”
Maura wants a thousand more answers, but she remembers Frankie, who feels hot next to her. He isn’t really, but his energy is hard and wafting in her direction. “You know, I came here to ask you about some stories you may have heard as a child…”
“And I’m telling you I have. I’m telling you they’re true,” Paddy says. “Obviously, things have changed. We have new stories for a new world.”
“And now it’s about money,” Maura extrapolates.
“For your dad it’s about money,” Frankie clarifies. “It’s not just about money.”
Maura thinks to the past few nights she’s spent in a catholic church. “What is it about, then?”
“It’s about pride,” Frankie says in his distinctly Italian way. He still sounds like the North End, and Maura has met a hundred men like him in the city. “It’s about protecting the little guy. No one should be afraid of having their limbs pulled off because of business.”
Maura drops her head, nods once. Paddy looks at her, smiles. “Ask Father Kelly about some of his work,” he tells her. “It’s not all dollars and cents. There are good people in the world, who want to do good. He’s one of ‘em.”
“I will,” Maura says quietly. “I… I think we should go.” She gives the signal to Frankie and he rises, holding his hand out for her when he stands as she scoots towards the edge of the booth. She stands up, too, and then turns toward her still-seated father. “Thank you,” she tells him. “Thank you for the information. I appreciate you taking the time.”
Paddy softens. “You’re my daughter. You need time from me? I’ll make it. No matter what it's about. Just… be careful about all this. I didn’t realize how deep… just watch yourself. I know your pursuits are scholarly, here, but-”
“They could be after me,” Maura finishes with sarcasm. She holds her bag close to her side and resists the urge to scoff at him. “I know. Everyone keeps telling me that. Father Kelly, even though I haven’t asked, seems to have the security side of things covered,” she says. She points to Frankie.
“Good, I’m glad,” says Paddy. “Text the phone, if you need anything else.”
“Ok,” Maura says. Then, she and Frankie exit The Robber, and begin their trek to the car.
“You ok?” Frankie asks, vague on purpose.
Maura doesn’t answer for a while, content to let the fall breeze calm her heartbeat. When she does speak, she stops just a few feet from the Audi. “You said that for you, it’s about the little guy. Keeping people safe from monsters.”
“Yeah,” Frankie replies. He sticks his hands in his pockets and closes down his shoulders, caving in on himself in a way Jane never would.
“Who keeps people safe from you? When you need to eat?” Maura asks him.
Frankie narrows his gaze. His mouth sets in a hard line. “I don’t kill people,” he tells her. “Not good ones, not anymore. I know how to get what I need from people who wanna give it to me. The werewolves your dad is talking about? They ambush people and systematically kill them. They trap them, they murder them, so that they can weaken Paddy and take over his business.”
Maura studies him. There’s conviction in the way he stares back, undeterred. “I just… am having a hard time seeing the difference between the two.”
“I hope you never have to see it,” he tells her. “Any of it. Get in the car, huh? I’ll take you anywhere you need to go.”
Maura obeys. It is only when she gets settled in, fastening her seatbelt, that she remembers her father had given her a name - Jones.
___
Maura spends several hours in the BCU Humanities Library checking out any title she could find on Irish wolves, eyes especially peeled for tales with a Jones in them, occasionally grinning to herself when she catches a very bored Frankie Rizzoli wandering the stacks around her. She wonders about the conversation between them and her father, and wants to pull all the threads, the historical ones, that connect the two men she passed the morning with. Are there any? Or is it truly a modern tale that ties all of their disparate stories together in the city of Boston?
And what about Jane? How does Jane Rizzoli figure into the story of her brother and Maura’s biological father? And what about Father Kelly and his investment in her work? All the old men in her life, Frankie included (though he is handsome and by far the least paternal towards her), make her think of Arthur.
She wonders what he would say about all that she has uncovered. Would he believe her? Before he left on sabbatical, he, not Maura, was the premier folklorist at BCU, though their specialities are wildly different. Would his misogyny, passive and tame as it was compared to some of the others in leadership, prevent him from taking her seriously? She, for the moment, wants to tell no one. She values her reputation too much. And this angers her because the truth should be perceived and accepted no matter who presents it.
“How’s it goin’?” comes Frankie’s voice just as she feels herself start to tremble with the frustration. He leans on the shelf she’s perusing, and while he’s talking to her, she watches his gaze travel until it meets the eyes of a bearded, bespectacled young scholar in the Spanish economics and trade section a few yards away.
She chuckles to herself, the smile of it tugging her lips away from her pretty teeth, not like his own. But she has felt what he is feeling now. In an impulse born of boldness, she reaches up, touches her fingertips to his clean-shaven chin. “I think I have everything I need. We can go now.”
Frankie’s eyes snap back to her when she touches him, and then it is his turn to smile, mostly at the brazen show of possession. “Tell me somethin’, Maura,” he says when she reshuffles so that both arms are wrapped around the titles she’s picked out.
“What?” she asks him. They look only at each other.
“You wish it was Janie here instead of me, huh?” He crosses his arms and stares at her like he’s caught her.
Maura blushes. “I have really, really enjoyed your company today,” she tells him.
“I’m glad. I liked hangin’ out with you, too,” Frankie says. “But that’s not an answer and you know it.”
___
Frankie had taken her to an early dinner, Italian, of course, though he abstained from eating. He had cited the lateness of the day, and the slowing down of his body. With the night comes the death, he told her, and she accepted it while she sipped on wine and chewed on pasta across from him. They’d driven back to her place in contented silence, all while the sun set.
In fact, Frankie puts the car in park now, and sticks his hand in his pocket. “Here you go,” he says, giving it to her. It’s the spare key to her home that she had given him when he ran his morning errands. Errands she is now endlessly curious about.
She is also a little sad to see him go, so she presses his fingers closed. “Keep it. In case you need to come back,” she says. “It seems like this is probably not the last time we’ll see each other.”
“Probably not,” Frankie agrees. They are parked under a street lamp and when he turns to face her more fully, the light catches the vampire yellow in his eyes. The change only lasts for a moment, however, and then his brown irises return. “Tell you what. Give it to Janie. That’ll be our compromise, ok?”
Maura doesn’t expect the flush of wet heat that sloshes against her insides when he says it. “To Jane?” she says softly, more to process his words than to ask.
“Yeah. I gotta go, but I let her know that today was… pretty uneventful. Howling animal-wise. She’s gonna check in when she gets a chance. So, give her the key then,” says Frankie.
“Ok, I will,” Maura says. She opens the car door, suddenly impatient to hasten that visit. If she gets out of the car and into her home, she can begin the waiting. “Thank you for today. I’m sure you’re a very busy man, and I know you had to flip-flop your… resting schedule to keep me safe. I appreciate it.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Frankie says. “A friend of Jane’s is a friend of mine. Have a good night, Maura.”
“You too,” she tells him. She shuts the door, and Frankie does not drive away until she’s inside her home, with all the locks engaged and the hall lights on.
She breathes.
The scent of home, uncontaminated by wolves, dogs, or vampires, calms her. It is fully dark now; she can see the moon shining in the window above her kitchen sink, the small sliver at the top that isn’t covered by a curtain.
It’s tea time, she decides after she runs upstairs quickly to change: her go-to relaxation activity. She returns, the kettle goes on the stove, and she raids her cupboard for a Moroccan mint loose leaf that she is especially fond of. She is barefoot, having kicked off her shoes in the hall, and she hugs her fisherman’s sweater close to her body after she preps her mug. She wears dark, painted on dark jeans, and she dares to fantasize about moving to the reading room and digging into a novel - a thought indulgent and pleasing, if rare - after her tea steeps.
A knock on the door coincides with the screaming of the kettle, rousing her out of her thoughts with a yelp. Her first thought? Jane. Her second thought? Someone who knew Jane plans to visit and is capitalizing on that information to catch Maura alone and unaware.
She curses this very, very recent paranoia and the damper it puts on her very, very recent excitement. She wants to march through the kitchen and out into the front hall, and confidently swing the door open. But that would be stupid.
So, she turns off the burner and pads in silence, thankful for the rug she has that reaches all the way to the door. She has a peep hole, though when she steps to it, she fears what might be facing her on the other side.
Luckily, it is Jane. Jane, with her windswept hair, in an outfit similar to her brother’s, a white pinstriped shirt in black slacks with a peacoat over it. She stares at the hole in the door like she can see right through it to Maura’s soul.
Maura yanks her door open. “Hi,” she says breathlessly.
“Just me, checkin’ in,” Jane says, smiling with her lips closed and her eyes crinkled. “How’re things?”
“Fine,” Maura says. And instead of stepping back so that Jane can enter, she steps forward so that she can erase the space between them. “How was your meeting?” She whispers. Jane will hear.
Jane does. “You remembered that, huh? It was good.” She looks down, perplexed and maybe a little more human.
“To be completely honest, I don’t think I’ve forgotten one detail about you,” Maura tells her. The smell she sought by creeping closer floods her head. Her brain is awash in lavender and some kind of enzyme engineered completely for her. It causes her to reach out for her second Rizzoli of the day, and she rubs the lapel of Jane’s coat between her thumb and her forefinger slowly.
Jane doesn’t stop her. “Well, that’s nice to hear. But there’s a lot you don’t know.”
“I’d like to,” Maura shoots back. “Especially after spending the day with your brother. Come have some tea with me? We can sit in the reading room. Oh wait - can you have tea?”
Jane nods when Maura finally steps back. “Water’s good for any body. Even the dead ones,” she says, taking her coat off and hanging it on the available rack just by the stairs. “Tea is just flavoring. So how was it today? With Frankie? He treat you nicely?”
Maura imagines that they tease each other mercilessly when they are together, because they sure tease each other when they are apart. “Very nicely, thank you. But I think you knew that,” she says, reading another cup. She pours hot water in each, and then sets the egg timer on the counter. She grips the lip of it before turning and leaning her hips against it. “You two are a lot alike.”
“Pssh,” Jane shakes her head. Maura giggles because the reaction sounds so normal. “We’re nothin’ alike. I, for one, am much less annoying.”
Maura’s laughter turns softer, more commiserating. “He was very gentlemanly. You were both raised well.”
“Well, don’t read into it. He very much does not play for your team,” Jane says through a smirk.
“I caught him making eyes at a pretty young man in the library stacks today,” Maura leans in with a conspiratorial wink. She speaks behind her hand just as the timer goes off and she readies their drinks. She hands Jane one mug and wraps her hands around her own. “He says your type is pretty women, however.”
“You two had quite the bonding session today, hmm?” Jane asks loudly, and Maura wonders if she would blush if she could. The vocal cues sure say so. “Talked about it all.”
“Was he wrong?” Maura asks cheekily when she settles into one of her armchairs in front of the fireplace. She looks over the rim of her cup when Jane joins in the chair on the other side of the end table.
“No,” Jane licks her lips while she brushes lint from her pants. She folds into Maura’s furniture like it is just a little too small for her, her long legs spread, boots fully on the hardwood, arms stretched longer than the rests provided for them. Maura surprises herself with how easily her brain adapts to the logic of Jane’s existence. The network of veins on the tops of her forearms, weaving over the bones of her hands, rise like plump streams under her skin, and Maura knows this means that Jane has just fed. “The information is just incomplete.”
“Oh really? Who else do you like?” Maura prods. She has her feet tucked up under her in her chair, and she feels cozy when Jane studies the way her honey hair falls in waves past her shoulders. She likes how she feels when Jane studies her.
“A lot of people. But Frankie… he’s the serial lover. I haven’t really been with someone in a meaningful way in a long time. Too much other shit goin’ on. Too complicated,” says Jane.
“You haven’t had sex?” Maura leans forward, both shocked and sad. “How long?”
“Hey oh, I didn’t say that,” Jane corrects. She would definitely be blushing now. “I said, a meaningful relationship. That’s different.”
“I would agree with that,” Maura tells her. “It’s been a while since my last meaningful relationship, too.”
“Decades?” Jane smirks.
“Not quite. I’ve only lived three and a half of those,” Maura counters. “I suppose that puts things into perspective.”
“Your experiences are valid,” Jane says quietly. Her gaze moves the rippling liquid in her cup. “I’m not an expert just because I’ve been doing it longer.”
Maura sighed and set her tea down on a BCU coaster. “I’m glad you’re here.”
“Because you need relationship advice?” asks Jane.
Maura shakes her head. “God no. I wanted to ask you about the many fascinating things I learned today.”
“Frankie says you went to go see Paddy Doyle,” Jane says. “I had no idea he was your pop. Father Kelly didn’t tell me.”
“I keep it a very closely guarded secret, Jane. Father Kelly knows it's not his business to tell. If it got out that I am Paddy Doyle’s biological daughter, it could ruin my career,” Maura turns very serious and Jane acknowledges it. “Which is why I don’t understand how you and Frankie could just… take that money.”
Jane’s brows furrow like she’s unsure what her superhuman ears have just heard. “Excuse me?”
Maura readjusts in her seat. Leans closer. “Paddy’s money. You know where it comes from. How he gets it. The pain it causes. How-”
Jane puts her tea down, too. And then she leans her elbows on her thighs. She snarls. Her eyes flash when she looks at Maura. “Tell me what legitimate job I could do. Tell me how I could get legitimate documents and property. I mean, for a decade or two, maybe. But for eighty, a hundred, and hundred and fifty years? How do I live in the open? I don’t wanna go out into the woods and live like a feral animal, Maura. I could do it, to survive, but I wanna belong to society. I wanna interact with people. I wanna be a person.”
Maura had thought of none of those things. Tears prick at the back of her eyes and she swallows them down so they don’t fall. “I didn’t… I meant… I didn’t consider that. I’m sorry.”
“S’ok,” Jane grumbles. “How could you consider it? It’s not normal. It’s not something someone like you should have to think about. Some of us do go that route, you know. The witch-of-the-wood route.” Maura takes a few moments to gather herself, and it almost works, except that Jane reaches for her hand. When warmth wraps around her fingers, when a palm transmits the slow beat of a heart into her skin, the tears stream silently. She bites her lip and curses herself for being so emotional. “Don’t beat yourself up. Please don’t. Not for my sake, kid.”
Maura laughs darkly at the very Bostonian term of endearment. “I’ve had a lot of practice before you. But still, I’m sorry for judging you.”
“You’ve been doing pretty good at havin’ an open mind so far,” Jane jokes, “if I were in your shoes, I think I’d have a heart attack.”
“I almost did,” Maura wipes an eye with her oversized sleeve. They laugh together now, and she looks down at their hands, begging a deity she doesn’t believe in to keep Jane put. “Remember last night? I fainted.”
Jane appears in no hurry to leave. She has leaned back against the chair and relaxes, staring into the unlit fireplace as she thinks. “I remember. You did good, all things considered. But you like finding things out. That excites you. Even more than it terrifies you.”
Maura considers this. It’s true. A boiled-down essence of her nature. “Do you know what I found out today?”
“That my brother and I are in bed with Paddy Doyle?” Jane teases.
Maura sighs. “Yes. And that you are in some unholy alliance to rid Boston of werewolves, with Father Kelly completing the triangle. What I don’t know is why.”
Jane takes her hand back, not in distaste, but to fold hers together over her abdomen. “You need a reason?”
“Yes. Because like I told your brother, I don’t readily see the difference between what he sees as mass killing of Irish mobsters and the two of you… feeding how you need to feed,” Maura says with inquiry instead of obstinance.
“Well, me getting a meal doesn’t necessarily mean that someone has to die,” Jane asserts.
“Frankie assured me that all his… feeds are consensual,” Maura says. “That he doesn’t kill anyone. Is that true? That you don’t-”
“My brother is a very principled person,” Jane growls. “I am not.”
Maura digests what that means. She refuses to articulate it to herself just yet. “I-”
“You want me to go?” Jane asks, her visage still stormy.
“No,” Maura answers honestly. As confused as she is, she knows that. “I just need your help to understand why all of you so vehemently oppose this group of people I’ve never met.”
“Hopefully you don’t have to,” Jane says. “But your dad’s bottom line is affected. That’s what drives him.”
“He somehow knew that the group was English. Or he assumed they were,” Maura says.
“They are and they’re not,” Jane tells her.
“What does that mean?”
“They’re mercenaries. They’re… like chaos agents. They kind of just go where the power is, you know? The money,” Jane says. “They follow the money and make sure there are enough of the regular people that look like them still in the area. So they blend in.”
“And what do people who look like them look like?” Maura asks. The darkness of the room, wedged up against the lights spread throughout the first floor, makes her question scary. Makes her anticipate the answer with both desire and dread.
Jane’s prolonged look into her eyes only strengthens the feeling. “Like you, I guess,” says Jane.
It is not the response Maura guessed she would hear. “What? Like me?”
Jane is back to sipping on her drink. “It is a long, convoluted story for another time. But the pack that’s here, in Boston, came here because they looked exactly like the Englishmen taking over.”
“So they’ve been here for… a long time,” Maura gulps when she speaks.
“Longer than me,” Jane replies. “But we’ve crossed paths before.” Her Sicilian accent returns, fluid and deep, her tongue shifting to make vowels with her breath like a barque navigating the vastness of the Mediterranean - altering its shape, but never changing its essence.
This is the angriest that Maura has ever heard Jane. It rivals the anger Frankie showed her in The Robber across from her father. Maura senses pain, heaps and heaps and oceans and oceans of it when Jane shifts in her chair, coiled but unable to unfurl. There had been pain, she recognizes now, when Frankie railed against the exploitation of the powerless.
Like he, like they, had been the powerless.
Disinhibited, Maura glances at the scars in Jane’s palms. They look darker than the rest of the olive skin over her knuckles, just a thin, inch and a half strip of tissue on either side. Maura wonders if the pain leaks out from there. She follows another instinct, and rises from her seat.
She walks the ten feet to Jane, and stops in front of her as she continues to sit. She puts her hand in her pocket, and produces the key that Frankie had returned to her in the car.
Jane looks, and then looks up at Maura’s face. “What’s that?”
“It’s for you,” Maura says. “You have a standing invitation. But that doesn’t mean much if the door is locked and you have to knock it down to get in.”
Jane stands up, too, erasing most of the space between them, and giving herself six inches on Maura. She doesn’t take the key, but she marvels at it. “There are many ways that I could get in, you know, now that I have that invite. That wouldn’t involve any brute force.”
Maura’s voice distorts, turns deep, because she cranes her neck to meet Jane’s gaze. It is all yellow now, and her canines glisten in the lampglow. The skin over Maura’s neck tightens and she has a frantic moment of wanting anything to relieve the pressure.
To puncture the tension.
“Well, I…” she starts, then revises. “I don’t doubt it. But I think you’ve earned the right to march through the front.”
“Like I own the place?” Jane teases, licking the tip of one of her elongated teeth while she smirks.
“Hmm, not quite, but you’re on the right track,” Maura tells her. Then she groans. “Is this how all people react to the way you smell? I want…”
“Nah,” Jane answers, inching ever closer. “I can walk down the street without people fallin’ all over me. What? What do you want?”
“You,” Maura answers boldly, her hands going to Jane’s biceps and staying there, her thumbs rubbing muscle through soft fabric. “I want you, all the time. I don’t even know you. But I get near you and I melt into the floorboards.”
“Maura?” Jane asks cockily, quietly.
“Yes, Jane?” Maura leaves herself flayed open anyway.
“I don’t have to be a vampire for that to be the case,” Jane says, and then she retracts her fangs before she wraps her arms around Maura and kisses her.

Oh we’re running blorbo propaganda campaigns right now? I thought that would only begin after voting did. Well then, please allow me to elaborate further on my Jesse Custer submission!
Believe me, I’m aware that not a lot of people have watched this show (probably even fewer have read the comics; even I haven’t). But I’m also aware that a lot of people should. The titular Preacher, our aforementioned plural king(s), takes the form of Dominic Cooper with a clerical collar, collar tips, and magic Dom powers. Trust me, he’s hot. Even if you’re not attracted to men, I’m fairly confident declaring that you’d still be attracted to Dominic Cooper as a cowboy-goth priest with collar tips and magic Dom powers.
Tumblr media
Your Honor, look AT him.
Have I mentioned that the plot of this show is Jesse’s road trip quest to find God and hold him accountable for his many atrocities? Because that’s a mission that objectively has extreme swag. And as if Jesse doesn’t have enough swag on his own, he also has a badass girlfriend and a vampire boyfriend who also have copious swag themselves.
But enough about Jesse’s swag. Let’s talk about his plurality (since I’m the only person I know who does). As per my official submission, your honor, during one key episode of this series, a curious thing happens. Jesse, imprisoned in the same torture device that he was made to endure as a child, suddenly retreats into what is unmistakeable an inner world. There he talks to an unnamed man referred to only as “the Missouri Cowboy,” who is clearly an introject of Jesse’s idol, John Wayne (and I KNOW we all love to see some introject love and recognition around here, right?) The cowboy tells Jesse how to escape his torture coffin, which is something Jess himself was unable to do by himself. (Furthermore, after escaping, Jesse goes on to kill the members of his family who held him captive and traumatized him as a child. As I said, swag.) Sadly we never see or hear about the Missouri Cowboy again (at least in the TV series), but his single appearance is more than enough. I rest my case.
If he makes it into the bracket and only gets one vote, that vote will be me and I’ll be proud to do it. If he gets 2 votes, it may well be because I convinced the only other headmate in our system who has a tumblr blog to vote for him as well. If Jesse only gets 3 votes, it will probably be because I bullied my partner (who cosplays him!) to vote for him too. Jesse Custer may not be a popular blorbo from a popular IP, but he is my babygirl and I will run the most insufferably annoying campaign for him because my heart is SO full of LOVE, your honor.
YOU (POSITIVE)
FELLOW VERTIGO STAN IN MY POLL!
Fun fact: the vaguely worded possession guideline in the rules is actually partially so I can't finagle John Constantine into the poll on a technicality or three. However one of my other Vertigo blorbos is trendy rn so I will also say: Dream of the Endless + whatever Daniel has going on? plural. you know already
also to be clear folks: an essay like this gives your blorbo way more of a chance to get in! let em loose. be annoying (affectionate) in my inbox

The one where I’m consumed by BL Drama
the original of this post is over on my website if you want to take a look.  Otherwise, keep reading :)
Since around July 2022 I fell into a BL drama hole (feels MUCH longer!) and couldn't get up. OMG, Jules! I hear you say. What is this awesome-sounding thing you're into and why are you obsessed?
Well, come closer, my bébés, and let me give you a crash course.
Just like K-Drama is all about stories made in Korea and featuring Korean actors, BL (aka boy love) Drama are stories involving boys dating, falling in love and (mainly) living happily ever after. The HEA has some exceptions which I will WARN YOU ABOUT because I am STILL SALTY about this (Love By Chance S2, I am looking right at you!).  A lot of the stories are adapted from novels, or short stories, or manga. Some start out as an online game (!)
Tumblr media
On to a few definitions, courtesy of Nothing But Yaoi.
BL is also known as Yaoi (Yah-OY), and is a media genre depicting romantic and homoerotic relationships between males. This genre blossomed in Japan in the ’70s as a literary genre and originally consisted of derivative works from parodies of original anime and manga stories. However, it gradually transformed into an umbrella term for other forms of fiction - such as anime, movies, dramas and fan-works - featuring homosexual relationships.
Yaoi Vocabulary
Seme – (sem-AY) refers to the ‘top’ or the one who penetrates the ‘bottom’ during sex. Usually portrayed as the character with the most masculine features and the one with the more dominant personality. In standard romance writing terms, he would be an alpha.
Uke – (oo-KAY) character with the most docile and submissive personality and the ‘bottom’ in the relationship. Physically, he is presented as being more graceful and feminine.
Riba – characters with mixed traits of semes and uke, and is both submissive and dominant in the relationship.
Tsundere – (SOON-de-deh) A character who initially shows off a moody and harsh personality and sometimes violent tendencies, but then gradually shows a sweet and gentle side.
Yandere – (YAN-de-deh) a character with a possessive and obsessive personality, who will do anything to be with their crush or love interest.
The Futekiya blog has a good explanation on the differences between seme/uke/riba.
I totally recommend Gail Carriger's 2020 article BL Dramas Analysed from a Writer's Perspective because she goes into the background stuff and I don't need to say the same thing because I pretty much agree with all of it. Go read both parts.
Now, here's my observations. BL isn't just about gay/queer stories. It also deals with friendships, romantic pairings, families, school/college, acceptance and social issues. A lot of them fall into the New Adult subgenre (defined as stories with 18-24yo protagonists navigating their way in the world while dealing with a new job, college, family, social and romantic issues).
Sometimes I feel some male actors aren't that comfortable kissing other men, but that could be me. I know some actors see BL as a stepping stone in the industry and do it for the money. You can find a bunch of YouTube clips that delve into this, but please take those with a grain of salt, because the bottom line is, it's all subjective unless an actor has gone on record about it. And most will not, given most BL are produced by countries that still struggle with LGBTQIA+ acceptance.  And some are still downright homophobic.
Tumblr media
#VegasPete MY HEART
BL run the gamut of SUPER HOT (KinnPorsche, Unforgotten Night), to one kiss in the last 30 seconds of the last ep (Where Your Eyes Linger, Light on Me, Minato's Laundromat). Some BL are light and fluffy because sometimes we just need that feel-good romance story about two people falling in love. And then we have the more grittier stories that deal with social and political issues, bullying, assault, social media.
Tumblr media
You go for it, Pi! (Fish Upon the Sky)
A lot of BL are only one season, except when not (TharnType, SOTUS). This gets confusing when they give the second season/related seasons a different title. (For example, Kiss: The Series, Kiss Me Again, Dark Blue Kiss and Our Skyy are all related, with the same actors playing the same roles) I loved 2Moons (Phana and Wayo MY HEART!!!)  but the company (StarHunter entertainment) then produced a Season 2 and 3, but with completely different actors in the same roles for both seasons.  People were not happy.  The En of Love was another series that consisted of a bunch of mini stories, including a 4ep one called Love Mechanics.  I was so happy we got a full 10eps for the  retelling of Vee and Mark’s story, because the original 4eps were hugely lacking. It’s now one of my favourites, ngl.
I've managed to find a lot of related shows via IMDB, and I've also referred to My Drama List for details about number of eps, shows with the same actors, etc. It can get more confusing when it looks like a series is also a movie, and then I realised they make a 'movie' version of the series but there's a lot of heavy editing involved so I recommend watching the series to get the complete story.
Like other fiction genres, BL has its tropes, expectations and issues. I think the oldest BL I've watched was 2016, and the earlier stuff shows its age when it comes to dealing with bullying, sexual assault, consent, stereotypes, gay rights and acceptance.
Most of my BL comes from Thailand and Korea, mainly because they are the ones meeting demand and consistently making content. Japanese BL have recently stepped up (Candy Colour Paradox is one of my faves) but Chinese BL made after 2016 is rare, due to the massive government ban on anything appearing to be gay. A few production companies produce my favourite shows (GMM and Domundi are two) and those companies have a stable of actors who appear in a multitude of different shows, promote those shows and endorse products (more about that later), plus do live greets, fan service and provide content for the original soundtrack.
I watch in various places - I have Viki and iQIYI, as well as Prime and Netflix but the latter two don't have a lot of the old shows I'm looking for - and I'll tell you about that all further down.  Some production companies like O2 have a YouTube channel but sometimes scenes can be cut because ‘mature’ content.
Okay, so apart from boy love, what's BL about??
Tumblr media
My Beautiful Man - of course he is
Aside from the fact that most of the boys are just SO FRICKING BEAUTIFUL IT MAKES ME CRY???? JUST LOOOOK AT THEM!!!! Who wouldn't want to watch all the dramas with these guys???
Okay. It's also about the tropes. I get a kinda-sorta "old romance bodice rippers of the 80s" vibe from the older BL: low/dubious on consent, sexually aggressive, the "I'm interested in you so I'll overtly pursue you - even though you've said no - because I MUST HAVE YOU." The alpha-seme characters are often forceful and in your face. There's open bullying going on. Sometimes sexual assault is used as a plot/character device that makes me mega-uncomfortable (TharnType.... 😒)  But anyway. Here's a bunch of plot/trope devices that seem to crop up in a lot (if not most) BL.
Dominant male/passive male dynamic - I can count on one hand the BLs I've watched that don't have this dynamic - alpha-type guy pursuing a shy, often nerdy, passive (same age or sometimes younger) boy. It's your classic seme-uke. A lot of BL are set in college or just starting out in the workforce, so a huge New Adult vibe to it all, which is helpful to get past the censors re: sexual content. It’s also a very popular trope.
Hot previously-hetero fuckboy has GFY (gay for you) thoughts about roomie/bestie/cute nerdy boy - "gay for you" is a legit trope in the romance genre. Some hate it, some aren't bothered about it. It basically means that a previously heterosexual guy - with no indication he's ever questioned his sexuality and in fact, is overtly sexual with women - will suddenly start to have the feels for another guy. It's not that he's GAY, because he doesn't feel that way about other guys. It's just this one guy who sets his heart all aflutter. Theory of Love fits this, as does TharnType (two very male men who don't classify themselves as dominant or feminine, although Tharn is openly gay and says early on that he's a top).
Tumblr media
...or not?
Not gay, just GFY - see above
Accidentally falling on other so they can 'accidentally' kiss - tripping over objects, a kerb, a fence or wall, people crashing into them - with their bodies or vehicle - and forcing them to kiss. Bonus if it involves water, like falling into a bath or a pond. Water fights are also good.
Getting drunk - this appears to provide an opportunity for the seme to kiss or touch the uke. It also allows them to talk about their feelings 'honestly and openly'. Can also lead into...
Drunk kisses - doesn't always come with consent. Many a drunk kiss may start out as 'wtf are you doing??' And because the pursuer is just SO DAMN GOOD at kissing, it morphs into consensual (and sometimes into sex, which again, is not always consensual or appears to be 'forced seduction' - a romance writing term that's loaded with issues and sometimes used as a euphemism for rape, especially when we're talking older romance novels of the 80s-90s).
Placing a hand on a wall/chair/object and leaning in to stare into their face/get intimately close - SO. DRAMATIC. I love this aggressive move (usually by the seme) and also love seeing the uke getting all flustered and nervous. See Cutie Pie, Secret Crush on You, Unforgotten Night.
Watching the other one sleep - So we get those lovely vulnerable moments with lingering looks and tender expressions. See also: pretending to be asleep so the other one can watch them sleep and possibly confess aloud how much they secretly have the feels. Is also related to the classic #OnlyOneBed conflict device.
Bringing food/feeding - this is a culture thing. Putting food on someone's plate, bringing them noms when they're sick or too busy to take care of themselves. Feeding them directly from a utensil has MAJOR sexual vibes, and we often get close ups of parted lips and lots of staring. There's also a bit of extreme dramatic offence taken by the seme when an outsider/potential rival puts food on the plate of the seme's love interest. This preferential treatment of being served food does not go unnoticed by family or friends.
Wiping food from their face - again, we are taking care of that someone we have the feels for. Wiping off food, sauce, cream, often on their lips or corner of the mouth. Bonus if the pursuer then licks that finger. HOT VIBE ALERT.
Patting/washing/drying hair - indicates intimacy, which a shoulder or arm pat definitely doesn't.
Tending to wounds - to show their caring side. Can also involve kisses to said wound, or blowing of said wound. Which then gives us variations of gay panic from the one being pursued.
Nursing them when they're sick - see above. This is also a good turning point for the uke to realise their pursuer is indeed, concerned for them. Which means their romantic feels start/increase.
Falling asleep together - with major spooning and possible kissing occurring. Can also be paired with the #OnlyOneBed conflict device.
Riding a bike/moped/vehicle to create physical touch - where the person sitting behind must hug the driver. This is usually initiated by the driver grabbing their arms and wrapping them around his waist and the passenger is usually reluctant and/or shocked but we also see him smiling and secretly enjoying it. YAY for intimacy!
Introducing a female/ex to make the other person jealous - some of these are done SO BADLY and sometimes the ex inserts themselves into the budding romance just to be dramatic/evil/demand attention. I have a love/hate relationship with this device. It can be done so very badly, or used extremely well so I accept and understand why my boys are in conflict. In which case, I keep telling myself they'll eventually get their happy-ever-after, SO DON'T PANIC, FOR GODSAKES!
'We can never be together, so go find a woman who will make you happy'- see above.
Disapproving relative - to create tension and conflict. Yes, it's the 21st century but the reality is not everyone accepts same-sex relationships, especially when we're dealing with parents, older relatives and society as a whole. Many Asian countries still don't have gay rights or allow same-sex marriage, which makes the producers of these shows even more brave and forward-thinking.
Staring off into space, deep in thought - seriously, why is it so difficult to get someone's attention when they're doing this? It's not like they've suddenly been struck deaf.
Product Placement -  Snacks, drinks, face creams, collagen powders and pills, nasal sprays. I see them all, and some can be subtle (Theory of Love) and some literally IN YOUR FACE and wtf obvious (Unforgotten Night).  Sponsors throw money at the show and expect a return, both within the show and from the actors when they do promotional activities.  Not gonna lie, I've gone out and bought a bunch of those promoted snacks from my local Coles because I wanted to know what they tasted like. I am an advertisers dream.
Someone is gonna be shipping someone on social media - this is a cute device, and very in keeping with modern teenage life today. For those not in the know, 'Shipping' is basically the act of putting two people in a relationship together, either romantically or not. Mostly, it's of the romantic kind. In Fish Upon the Sky, this is a major conflict device for our nerdy uke, Pi, and his seme pursuer, Mork. Their ship name is #MorkPi. The actors are also shipped outside the show too (for e.g. #BrightWin, #MewGulf, #BibleBuild). Of course, some actors will do this for the fan service (i.e. providing that fan-driven squeeeee! content that keeps people interested/obsessed with the show), but then you will have a ship that sails into real-life couple waters: #MaxNat, #OffGun, #EarthMix, #NetJames, #ZeeNuNew 😍😍
Tumblr media
A Happy Ever After - this is the most important trope in a romance novel - in fact, it defines the entire genre.  If a Romance is not HEA or HFN (happy for now) i.e. an uplifting ending, it is not a romance novel.  Whatever else is going on in the story, however the characters fight and break up and reconcile and suffer, romance readers expect and demand a HEA / HFN for them.  I want my BL boys to have a happy ending because I like love stories to be positive.  I’ve seen a few that have ended badly HIStory: Make Our Days Count, Gray Rainbow and Love Bill  UUGGGGHHH.  Also, a S2 may or may not be utterly devastating -  don't get me started on Love By Chance S2 😡😡. I've seen some left up in the air (Ingredients and HIStory: Trapped), some that have a 'X years later' (Where Your Eyes Linger, Plus + Minus), and some that are bittersweet (On Cloud Nine, Doctor I'm Coming for Soul).  I watched Present Perfect (original Thai movie) and Present Still Perfect (sequel), but saw the sequel first, so I got Toey and Oat's initial romance backstory last. Didn't diminish or spoil the story at all and they're now two of my favourite BL movies.
The "I like you" moment - When a boy confesses their feels. I think a more accurate translation should be "I have a crush on you". Gail Carriger goes into more detail about translation issues, which you can read in her article I've linked to above.
A bit more on translating issues. Depending where you watch, they could be A+ or piss-poor. Some are just very very odd. I laughed aloud with KinnPorsche - a story about mafia and their tough bodyguards - and their cursing. 'Fudge', 'darn' and 'shoot'...? LOOOOL. Vegas definitely says "fuck" in English, but 'fudge' is the translator's go-to. For Love By Chance, one site's subs were "at least you won't be told you're a f*ggot." Viki translated it as: "you won't be told you're the wrong gender." The subs for Make It Right on Bilibili were crazy-ass around Ep10, so I swapped over to YouTube.
So where can I watch these awesome shows?
My first port of call is either a legal paid platform or the creators' official YouTube channel.
Tumblr media
The Cutie Pie ep10 scene YT doesn't want me to see...
YouTube - GMMTV has a channel for catchup, which I love. I also recommend MindTrio. Make sure you get an ad blocker, because I totally forgot YT has ads, and one time I watched on my iPad ... annoying ads ahoy! Plus, I read on an Instagram account there's some censoring going on, but this is a bit hit-and-miss for me.  For e.g. there's a hot bath scene in Secret Crush on You between Toh and Neua that I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT because I'd watched it on Bilibili and they'd cut it. The full uncut scenes can be found on Viki.  I've also had ep10 of Cutie Pie censored because of 'sexual content' and unless I send YT a copy of my ID (wtf, not gonna do that!!) then I'm blocked from watching it there. Yay 👍 - free! Boo 😒 - censorship!  And ads.
Rakuten Viki - The format is very Prime-looking. You can get a bunch of shows for free, and the quality is great, but sometimes they'll make the first few eps free, then the rest of the season is VIP-only, which you have to pay for. They also place LOUD ads wherever they feel like in a show, so you'll be watching an intense emotional scene and suddenly there's a 20sec ad for Pocky. UGH. And the frequency/number of ads is totally random: one 30min ep had 5 breaks in it?? On the flip side, I watched a 90min movie with two ad breaks. And sometimes you get a Skip this ad>> button so there's that? Yay 👍 - somewhat free. Excellent range of BL if you pay for a sub. Boo 😒 - random ads everywhere unless you pay for VIP.  Paywall to see a complete season.
iQiYi - I had this app on my iPad but the ads were ANNOYING on the free version and totally in the way of the buttons. Paying for a subscription removes them, of course.  But some content is country-restricted (e.g. Unintentional Love Story), so even if you're a subscriber, you may not get access to every show. Yay 👍 - excellent uncensored content! Boo 😒 - paywall/sub fee can be expensive, plus content may be country-restricted.
GagaOOLala - this channel is LGBTQIA dedicated, so if you're unhappy with the shitty offerings of Prime or Netflix, I'd totally be paying a sub for this. You can see an ep or two for free, but then you have to subscribe. Also, as with iQiYi above, content may be country-restricted, even as a subscriber. Yay 👍 - CONTENT that is frequent and excellent!! Boo 😒 - possible country restrictions, plus sub is $$
HiTV - I recently discovered this app and it's fab because there's lots of older shows here that iQiYi and Viki don't have (full version of Love Mechanics! 🥰 ).  It does have ads, but only static silent ones at the start of each ep. Yay 👍 - content you may not be able to find elsewhere. Boo 😒 - The tiniest of tiny ads at the start of each ep.
Netflix - I've watched heaps of K- and C-Drama here (While You Were Sleeping, Love and Leashes, Final Life, Sweet Home, Alice in Borderland) and I still have a bunch bookmarked, but I haven't turned on my TV for weeks. I watched Your Name Engraved Herein, plus technically-not-BL Hwarang and The Untamed here, but Netflix have edited a few scenes of the latter, which makes me v. angry. Also, apparently Germany has absolutely no Chinese drama available, which is... just weird. Yay 👍 - HD content, no ads. Boo 😒 - choice is limited via your country. Plus, you know... you have to pay for a subscription. And with the 'no family sharing thing' that's being phased in, Netflix may not be your best choice.
Okay, so that's my crash course on BL Drama. Stay tuned for a list of my favourite series.  And if you watch BL, let me know your faves in the comments!

I have a couple of questions about Karen Miller/Traviss (are they the same person?) who wrote the Clone Wars novels. Are they still considered canon? Also, I heard that Karen Traviss was abused online or something, was that over her Star Wars novels? Really, I mean that just takes toxicity to a new level.
This is a hot topic but one that desperately needs to be explored because to this day people are still spreading misinformation about that happen as a way to ‘defend’ their points. So, here we go:
Karen Miller and Karen Traviss are not the same person.
Karen miller wrote novels like  The Clone Wars: Wild Space and the Clone Wars Gambit series.
Karen Travis wrote novels like The Clone Wars movie novelization and the Republic Command Series.
Both, in my opinion, are very talented writers but both also suffered thanks to sexiest and overzealous fans. There are many reason why they became ‘infamous’ but the main reason is their political stance. They both had a lot of sympathy for the clones and the enslaves citizens of the GFFA, and both were not shy about calling out the Jedi Order and the Senate for their inaction. Of course, jedi stans hated them. To add insult to injury, Karen Traviss was the writer who ‘killed’ Mara Jade (btw, this wasn’t her idea but she’s still hated for it).
Karen Miller ‘crimes’:
Her biggest ‘offense’ was being mistaken by Karen Traviss (more on that later). Beyond that all she did was write Anidala and portraying Anakin and Obi-wan as good but flawed people. This is the kind of stuff she wrote:
“Coruscant was out there. Padmé was out there. There was a heart in his chest, beating, but it was only an echo. She was his true heart. She was his home.”  - Karen Miller’s Clone Wars Gambit: Siege
“He saw himself a candle. He saw himself behind a wall. Brick by brick he tried to raise it. Brick by brick, it was destroyed. Every death was a hammer blow. Every loss a chisel. The Sith were a wily foe, they knew where and when to strike. They were drawn to weak places, to old griefs and unhealed wounds.” - Karen Miller. The Clone Wars: Wild Space
To weep for a fallen comrade was to display unseemly attachment. A Jedi did not become attached to people, to things, to places, to any world or its inhabitants. A Jedi’s strength was fed by serenity. By distance. By loving impersonally. Karen Miller. The Clone Wars: Wild Space
Nothing particularly edgy or offensive. Imo, she’s one the best prequel writes in the game.
Karen Traviss ‘crimes’:
Beyond killing Mara Jade, she’s known for being critical of the Jedi and Republic and advocating for clone wars. She supported the highly offensive and controversial idea that clones were human being who deserved the freedom. She also believed that love (romantic or platonic), family and friends were not inherently evil and that Order made mistake by banning them.
Karen Trraviss is also know for writing so much of what we know of Mandalorian culture and she struck a nerve that too.
She wrote things like:
“The only thing [the clones] all had in common was their appearance—although they were starting to age differently, she could see that now—and what the Republic had done to them. Apart from that, they were individuals with the full range of virtues and habits of random humankind, and she now felt completely at home with them. If she had a side in this war, this was the one she chose: the disenfranchised, unreasonably loyal, heartbreakingly stoic ranks of manufactured men who deserved better.”  Star Wars - Republic Commando: True Colors by Karen Traviss
Serenity, my backside. Passion. Passion and anger and love. That’s what this galaxy needs, not serenity. Passion for change. Anger at this brutality. Love-buckets of it, for everyone, love between child and parent, between spouses, between brothers and sisters, between friends. We need more attachment, not less. Attachment can stop us from tearing ourselves apart. The Clone Wars: No Prisoners by Karen Traviss
He wanted to ask her why only a handful of Jedi objected to a slave army, and why they could claim to believe in the sanctity of all life and yet treat some life as being exempt from that respect. [REPUBLIC COMMANDO: TRUE COLORS BY KAREN TRAVISS[
Fandom (over)reaction:
Because of her ‘polemic’ takes, she started getting a lot of hate from the fandom. She used to interact with the fandom and her reward was to get constant death and rape threats. Some fans threatened her with ‘corrective rape’ to change her mind about the Jedi Order and other topics. Apparently, she responded by calling these fans ‘talifans’.
And the fans used that reaction to further vilify her. she was accused of hating the Jedi Order, of favoring Mandalore over them, getting the size of the clone army wrong, of ruining the OT by killing Mara Jade and now, of attacking fans. She was basically bullied out of the franchise.
However, her depictions of Clones and Mandalorians as heroes, while portraying the Jedi as petty or villainous, frustrated some fans, who felt that her stories and characters were counter to Star Wars. These fans wrote negative reviews of her books, and created a petition to George Lucas to stop Traviss from writing further Star Wars books. Traviss also received rape and death threats. Traviss wrote about these experiences on her blog, attacking the fans who created the petition, and likening them to Muslim extremists by calling them "Talifans." Traviss ultimately retired from Star Wars writing due to the threats she received.  [x]
It got to point where she had to write an open letter to the fandom explaining she DIDN’T hate the Jedi Order, she just didn’t believe things like war crimes and slavery should be so easily overlooked.
“No sane human can hate someone who doesn’t actually exist. From a writer’s perspective, the more super-powers characters acquire, the harder it is to develop logical story arcs and true human drama…but I don’t have any real feelings about fictional characters that stay with me once I step out of character-point-of-view-writing mode and get on with my life […] My real problem, then, is not with fictional Jedi, but with the people who refuse to believe they can do wrong. – Karen traviss [x]
If you want to know more about this, check this out :)
Now, back to Karen Miller
A few years ago, a popular sw tumblr tried to discredit Traviss writing by spreading the info that  she was a sexualizing Ahsoka with Bail so people started hating her for that too. Thing is, Karen Miller was the one accused of doing that but here is the deal:
Neither Karens ever wrote Ahsoka interacting with Bail Orgarna. What actually happened was that someone wrote a fic about Bail sexualizing Ahsoka on fanfiction.net, someone read it and decided the writing style was similar to Karen Miller’s so OF COURSE it must be Karen Miller who wrote the fanfic. Thanks to that genius level of deductive work, over the time people started saying that Karen Traviss wrote about Bail wanting to fuck Ahsoka as extra proof that SHE IS EVIL and should not be taken seriously.
Conclusion
Regardless of what you feel about someone writing, it’s NEVER okay to send them rape or death threats. Never! unfortunately, some hardcore jedi stans still spread the ‘karen traviss was attacking us’ without explaining exactly transpired between her and the fandom. According to their narrative, she was the *only* one in the wrong. That’s why there’s so much misinformation about her and what truly happened online.
My take on this ‘controversy’ is very simple: stop sending rape and death threats to women. I don’t care if you agree with her or not. The moment you believe a women *deserve* to be rape or killed, or support those who do, you lose any more ground you might think have. The situation becomes even more dire if it’s done to protect FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. 🤦‍♀️ I swear...this fandom....

Chapter 15: Shadows Fall
You numbly sat down on your bed. The room was dark. Your Phoenix brand, silent, a dull sepia stain on your inner wrist.
It hurts a lot.
“He’s no different to the power hungry elders of this corrupt society after all huh.” You were disappointed. It was dumb of you to give your heart away to him. Especially to a man who was already planning on taking in concubines, this early into your “relationship”.
You checked your phone to see the notifications. Mai and Miwa were looking for you, saying that you have dinner out with them in a few minutes.
'Ah, that was supposed to be for tonight' you thought.
"Sorry can't go, feeling unwell. You guys go ahead." You texted back to them as you slumped on your bed.
After a few minutes your door slammed open. "Where have you been?!" Mai asked, but stopped talking upon seeing your red rimmed eyes. Miwa peeked out behind her. "Are you okay y/n?" She asked.
That question absolutely crushed you. You started sobbing again, not being able to hide your shaking shoulders. The two girls filed in and closed your door.
"We are ordering take out. Miwa go ahead and cancel that reservation. We will stay in tonight." Mai said. "Right!" Miwa worriedly replied as she pulled out her phone and made the call.
"I'm not here to baby you. You will tell me what happened, okay?" Mai demanded.
"I need a few minutes" everything looked so blurry through your tears, Mai and Miwa only looked like unfocused blobs of dark green and bright blue. Literally, the only way you could distinguish the two girls at this point was by their hair color.
They couldn't get much out of you other than you talking about how Kamo-san never liked you in the first place and how you pushed yourself onto him.
The girls held you as you cried. They couldn't believe what they were hearing. "But both of you looked great. I'm sure Kamo senpai really liked you though?" Miwa questioned out loud.
Mai just nodded her head. "I said it before already. Both of you act like you're so oblivious to each other's affections. But I do agree that you put more effort into the relationship. He always turns down your request for dates off campus. Even an outsider could see that."
"No, no it’s not that. You guys know how the big 3 clans operate. He just felt that I was a suitable wife to bear his heirs. They're jumping at the chance to use me to get a blood-manipulator jujutsu shi who may also possibly inherit my psychokinesis technique. I don't want to stay in a relationship without any love in it." You whispered.
Your voice was all gone after you sobbed for hours. The fight and energy just drained out of your body.
They couldn't say anything to that as it was your relationship with Kamo and not theirs. That night, they slept over in your room, the three of you squishing into your queen sized bed and plushies.
◇◇◇
On the other hand, Noritoshi had woken up from his nap, bedhead and red rimmed eyes and all. Clearly remembering all your painful words. He looked over to the side, staring at the Jade dragon pendant atop his bedside table. A small pink letter resting beside it, one that you had given him days prior.
‘Dearest Toshi,
You must be exhausted from all of your extra tasks given to you by your clan as of the late. I hope that it gets better soon, I’m here if ever you want to talk about it or if you need any help with that. My family and I are open to supporting you in your endeavors, though you haven't met them yet. Hiroki nii is especially excited to meet you, I can already see the both of you getting along quite well. Whenever you’re ready <3
Have a good evening.
Love, Y/N.’
He felt tears burn behind his eyelids.
“It was too sudden, I couldn’t even understand half the things she said to me earlier,” he murmured to himself. He racked his brain, trying to recall the things you said. It was mostly a blur to him.
Something about what he and his father talked about yesterday. That wasn’t an issue, it was mostly clan duties as per usual.
Also, how he never liked you. Well, he hasn’t confessed yet, but he couldn’t see why you’d bring that up out of nowhere when everything was still fine 2 days ago.
Concubines. The talk on concubines. Why did you- Oh. “... from yesterday” Noritoshi’s head was getting clearer and clearer. You must have misunderstood the conversation he had with his father, and left before it finished. It didn’t sound pretty now that he thought of it.
He had that single-minded goal of pleasing his father and the elders, but somehow you got tangled in the mess.
He sighed frustratedly. It always seemed to be the case with you jumping conclusions about him, didn’t it? Now he has to clear it up with you before it gets too bad.
◇◇◇
You woke up the next morning feeling and looking like utter shit. Mai and Miwa had to dress you up and drag you out of bed.
“There’s only one thing you can do now Y/N.” Mai said as she straightened out your collar. “Get over him.”
Huh. Easier said than done.
◇◇◇
There was a drastic change in your behaviour towards Noritoshi. The name "Noritoshi-senpai", that you had always cheerily called out, was replaced by a short and curt "Kamo-san" whenever conversation was necessary. Also, you don’t look into his eyes anymore.
You avoided him as much as you can, thanking yourself for knowing his schedule so well. Not hesitating to turn and go around in another direction if you ever saw him approaching from a distance. Because of this he rarely sees you on campus.
It hurt Noritoshi badly to see you act this way. He never realized just how warm you were with him until now that it was all gone. He tried to catch you during your breaks, calling out your name with the same tenderness he always had. But it was in vain as you ran away from him.
Todo and Momo wisely chose not to make any snide comments, upon seeing how downhearted Noritoshi was in the following days.
Everybody avoided eye contact with both of you if and when you had to interact. It couldn't be helped. The tension was like a fine piece of glass waiting to shatter.
The pain in your heart didn't subside at all. You've taken to staring at the mark on your wrist.
'Did I successfully reject our bond?' You wondered hollowly.
Sometimes you half expect your mark to start flashing wildly, like whenever you and Noritoshi have off days with each other. But this is the first time you've seen it so… silent.
You wrapped it up with more darker velvet strips and ignored it.
It was the opposite on Noritoshi’s end. He would lie in bed and stare at the mark that is dangerously bright red and hot. It almost felt painful, like someone was searing a brand onto his skin.
He wrapped it up in gauze bandages and put salves to soothe the mark. But it was never enough. He needed you back.
◇◇◇
During one afternoon, you just finished an English lesson with one of the windows who teaches at Jujutsu High. You stood up from your desk and turned to see the man outside of your classroom.
"Y/n, are you free for lunch?" Noritoshi had obviously sprinted as soon as his lessons had ended. “We need to talk.” All 4 of you looked up to see him outside the classroom, as composed as ever. But he looked terrible.
There were shadows under his eyes, and he seemed to have gotten thinner. The shitty side of you was cruelly happy. Good that he’s like this, because he lost his toy. Good on him. But your heart was sad, yelling at you to go back and take care of him already.
"Ah I'm sorry, but I've got lunch with the rest of the 1st year's here." You politely declined. Trying to school your face into a neutral expression.
"I insist." He firmly stated. He looked over to the other students. "You don't mind if I borrow her do you?"
You inwardly scoffed at his poor choice of words. The stupid arse still thinks I'm his belonging apparently. Something to be borrowed and used.
But Mai stepped up. "If she doesn't want to hang out with you then she doesn't." Miwa was fidgeting worriedly. "Now now." She started.
"I really wanted to have lunch with my fellow 1st years, if you could please excuse us Kamo San." You hastily uttered, pulling Mai's arms towards you while turning away. The other first years followed your lead.
But Noritoshi was determined. He quickly put his hand on your shoulder, only for you to slap it away and flinch from him. Everybody froze.
You were clearly trembling, which made Noritoshi lower his hand and step back. "I'm sorry y/n." Whether the apology was for holding you without your consent or for everything that happened, you painfully let it slide. Silently bowing to him, then quickly walking away with the others.
Noritoshi could only watch wistfully as your figure disappeared from his view.
◇◇◇
"The nerve of shitty men," Mai angrily stuffed her mouth with eggs from her bento. "Thinking they own women, that they're better than us. It was like this with the men in my family as well. Bullying and kicking aside the weaker women."
You sadly poked at your food. It was katsudon. You ordered it ahead of time from the cafeteria, wanting to perk up with a favorite dish. But today it tastes so bland. It wasn't the cooking that was off. Just that you had no appetite.
"Wouldn't you want to talk it out with Kamo senpai, y/n?" Miwa asked. Truth be told you were adding fire to the problem. You just dumped your anger on Noritoshi and kept rudely cutting him off before leaving him.
But your pride and broken heart didn't allow you to go back to him. "I don't think there's anything left for me to say or do to be honest. I'm not in the mood to face him. At all." You lied.
Mechamaru surprisingly spoke out, "Love is a fickle thing. And it's a fact that women are more in tune with their emotions than men are. But I think you won't regret it if you give him a chance. Kamo Noritoshi isn't a bad man."
Mai huffed. "Whose side are you even on?"
"There are no sides. Just two idiots who are madly in love with each other." Mechamaru dryly replied.
Your heart clenched, but you stayed silent, not denying the fact that even after you pushed him away, you still loved him.
"Let's talk about something else shall we?" Miwa hurriedly changed the topic and started discussing the homework to be done.
◇◇◇
Hiroki was both the best and the worst brother you could ask for. Because he chose this time to surprise you with a visit at Kyoto High, claiming he wanted to see how you were doing with classes and that he would stay for a while.
Secretly, he wanted to meet and gauge Noritoshi, only to find out that the both of you have just broken up. You brought him into your dorm room to have a chat and some snacks.
“WHA?! YOU- You ended things with your soulmate?! You were together for like what?! 4 Months?” His jaw dropped as you told him the entire story.
You gave a drawn out sigh. “Hiro nii, I’m done. Like… He… I dunno anymore. To be honest I broke up with him in the heat of the moment.”
“Tsk, you’ve always been led by your emotions. That’s why you’re so reckless half the time sis. You didn’t even try to talk it out with him.” He asked as he opened a bag of chips.
You stayed silent and reached for chips. Chewing and ignoring him.
“What’s with you and bottling all your pent up anger only to toss it onto the poor guy? Didn’t even give him a chance to explain himself.” he tutted.
You whirled on him angrily. “They just want me for my power. Then they’ll let him off with like a dozen women around him. What the fuck is there for him to explain?!”
Hiroki looked way too calm. “Who are 'they'?”
You paused. “The Kamo family.”
“Are you 100% sure Noritoshi was in this only to use you?”
“Like 99.99%...” you trailed off. Hiroki eyed you knowingly. “That 0.01 percent chance of him loving you. You considered it, even though that’s a small ass probability sis. But hey, that’s your man. If you want him out, our family’s got your back. I’ll beat him up for you if you need me to”
You shook your head at him.
Hiroki sighed, “Though with that concubine thing, I can see it happenin’. Clan heads are desperate to have a son with the inherited technique. The Gojo clan just got lucky with Satoru. We dunno if it’s normal in the Kamo clan though. But with you as his soulmate, he shouldn’t need any. Somethin ain’t addin up…” He got lost in thought.
“You won’t know until you talk with Kamo himself.”
You sadly continued eating your chips. “I hate it when you’re right.”
◇◇◇
The next morning Utahime urgently called for a full student body plus all available jujutsu sorcerers on site for a meeting.
You and Hiroki stumbled into the room, almost late, pushing against each other. The other students looked curiously at the man who was fighting you for space on the couch.
You jabbed him in the gut and put a leg over his. “Uhhhh y/n who is that?” Mai asked.
Your cousin shrugged your leg off of his, stood up and said his greetings, “Hello, I am Tsuchimikado Hiroki. Alumni here at Kyoto Jujutsu High. Semi-grade 1 sorcerer. Pleased to meet you all and thanks for taking care of my lil sis- ah I mean cousin.”
“Ohhhh” Miwa took a closer look. You noticed Noritoshi glancing over at you. Todo walked up to him and pointed a finger, “Tsuchi’s relative? Then what woman is your idea-”
You used your technique to immobilise Todo and forced him to sit down in a daze. “Sorry for my rudeness, senpai. You can have that convo later.” You knew it would take too long if this starts again.
Hiroki looked affronted, “It’s rude to point bruh.”
Utahime clapped her hands to gather your attention as Principal Gakuganji appeared on the podium.
“Thank you so much all for coming into this meeting on such short notice. Especially to the alumni and other available Jujutsu sorcerers. Let's get straight to the point: I am here to announce that War is coming.”

‘True Beauty’ Taught Me That You Have A Right To Be Seen & Cherished As You Are
Tumblr media
Well, well. For starters, this was such a well-made show. Also, post gazillion discussions with my friend, we've concluded that K-dramas from 2019 have become more progressive, liberal and busters of their own stereotypes.
‘True Beauty’ was all of the above along with being funny, cute and addressing social issues head-on. Speaking of the last one, this show really puts into perspective the pressure of being conventionally 'pretty' and the nature of school bullying that leads to traumatic experiences in the life of young Korean adults. For this, I really applaud the show.
Tumblr media
The story is about 'ugly' looking 18-year-old Lim Joo Gyung who is bullied by her high-school classmates for her looks and appearance. It is rather devastating to watch the first two episodes because man, they really open your eyes to the gruesome shit people do to other people.
Tired of being bullied and unloved, Joo Gyung decides to switch schools. In the process, she discovers make-up and its unruly power to help her transform her appearance from zero to hero(ine).
Tumblr media
As she learns to master make-up skills, she is shocked by how she can manipulate and hide what she really looks like. Plot-twist: she's already met our hero Lee Su Hoo by now, who's seen her 'non-pretty' avatar and since her transfer happens to be in his school, he's already dubious about her made-up self.
Tumblr media
This is where the fun begins. Joo Gyung slowly discovers that with the help of beauty products, she can finally be a ‘normal teenager’ who has friends. Lee So Hu confronts her with his suspicions and upon them being confirmed, helps her keep her secret.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What follows is how Joo Gyung battles her own insecurities about herself, how the story displays with beautiful delicacy what it means to be truly beautiful and how, the people who love you will always be there, because they can see who you are, bone-deep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rather than using make-up as a crutch to keep running away from her lack of self-worth, we see how our heroine comes to terms with this and how she strives to be beautiful in her own might.
I cannot proceed without proclaiming my indefinite love for Lim Hee Gyung, Joo Gyung's older sister and a powerhouse of a woman. What's not there to love about her? NOTHING.
Tumblr media
I love how she's 'manly' enough to chase the person she's fallen for and I love her relationship with homeroom teacher Han Jun Woo, which is a complete power reversal than what is usually shown in K-dramas. She's the man here, she wears the damn pants and looks hot in them while she's at it. He, on the other hand, has no shame in being completely vulnerable and letting her take the lead.
Tumblr media
Lim Hee Gyung is everything I want to see in female drama leads. She's funny, digs intense video-gaming, smart, independent and a boss of a career woman. On the other hand, Han Jun Woo is kind, makes for a thorough poet through and through, is calm, composed and very sure of himself.
Tumblr media
There is no denying how much I love Hwang In Yeop in Han Seo Jun's avatar. Man, little did I know that the swordsman from 'Tale of Nokdu' was going to be a stellar second lead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seo Jun is everything Lee Su Ho is not: funny, understands and respects boundaries, isn't an asshole on purpose, loves Joo Gyung, respects her secret, respects her choice to love someone other than him rather than 'fight' for her by forcefully getting in her way, doesn't proclaim his feelings until he's sure she's not seeing anyone and is in general, SO MUCH MORE FUN than our boring, boring first lead. Sigh.
Tumblr media
Women (heroines) of dramas, please wake-up. I'm kind of tired of looking at y'all throw away the most beautiful of men because you think being with a stuck-up-arrogant-cold male lead is 'true love'.
It isn't. Really.
Also, I want to highlight how the show has women running the entire storyline on the forefront.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Be it Lim Hee Gyung, her mother Hong Hyun Suk who's the primary bread earner of the family, or Soo-Ah or Kang Soo Jin.
I loved how adorable, funny and cute Hyun Suk’s husband --- insert *one of my favorite K-actors* --- Lim Jae Pil is. Damn, I love gender-role reversals and what a success this drama has been with them. *happy tears and cheers*
Lastly, let's get on to my favorite learnings from the show:
1. Your healing is your responsibility.
Something we see so beautifully through the characters of Joo Gyung and Su Ho. With their own respective healing journeys, we see them own their self-discovery versus piling it on each other in the name of love.
2. Stop hiding your light.
After losing his closest friend, we see Han Seo Jun shut his heart to music despite it being his first love. But with time, Lim Hee Gyung and Su Ho convince him that it is a loss to the world to keep his musical gifts to himself and we see Seo Jun share his light once again.
3. Your heart is what is the most beautiful thing about you.
Not your clothes, not your talents and not your face. Who you are, how you treat others and how you love is what determines how beautiful or ugly you are.
My last thoughts thoughts, “... the ultimate dumpling war.”
