Not-so-friendly reminder that you cannot be a system without trauma.
Some more proof; done by me, a person living with DID.
This is not syscourse, this is fact.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Illness (DSM-5), a history of childhood abuse and neglect is prevalent in 90% of cases of dissociative identity disorder (DID). The remaining cases involve medical trauma, terrorism, and childhood prostitution. Ninety percent is overwhelming. Other research claims that rates of abuse and neglect in DID are actually much higher.
DID develops in response to severe, recurring trauma in childhood. Children are not fully equipped to cope with continued, severe instances of abuse, so they may develop dissociation as a survival skill, which can then develop into DID. It makes sense, then, that the rate of childhood abuse and neglect in people with DID is so high.
https://www.healthyplace.com/blogs/dissociativeliving/2016/04/the-undeniable-connection-between-did-and-child-abuse
The authors interviewed 102 individuals with clinical diagnoses of multiple personality disorder at four centres using the Dissociative Disorders Interview Schedule. The patients reported high rates of childhood trauma: 90.2% had been sexually abused, 82.4% physically abused, and 95.1% subjected to one or both forms of child abuse. Over 50% of subjects reported initial physical and sexual abuse before age five. The average duration of both types of abuse was ten years, and numerous different perpetrators were identified. Subjects were equally likely to be physically abused by their mothers or fathers. Sexual abusers were more often male than female, but a substantial amount of sexual abuse was perpetrated by mothers, female relatives, and other females. Multiple personality disorder appears to be a response to chronic trauma originating during a vulnerable period in childhood.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2044042/
Causes
The main cause of DID is believed to be severe and prolonged trauma experienced during childhood, including emotional, physical or sexual abuse.
The development of dissociative identity disorder is understood to be a result of several factors:
Recurrent episodes of severe physical, emotional or sexual abuse in childhood.
Absence of safe and nurturing resources to overwhelming abuse or trauma.
Ability to dissociate easily.
Development of a coping style that helped during distress and the use of splitting as a survival skill.
While abuse is frequently present, it cannot be assumed that family members were involved in the abuse.
Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is the result of repeated or long-term childhood trauma, most frequently child abuse or neglect, that is often combined with disorganized attachment or other attachment disturbances. DID cannot form after ages 6-9 because individuals older than these ages have an integrated self identity and history. Trauma later in life can lead to posttraumatic stress disorder or complex posttraumatic stress disorder, other dissociative disorders including other specified dissociative disorder, somatic symptom disorders, or possibly borderline personality disorder, but DID requires an unintegrated mind to form.

Genuinely the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen was an endo genuinely shocked that DID systems experience distress about having DID. Honestly, I’ve never been more concerned for a person. If you’re that deep into that shitty community, or ever have been, I am so sorry for the extra trauma it’s caused. I know what it’s like to deny that you have trauma and it’s not fucking healthy.
If you genuinely think you don’t have trauma but know about the system, your disorder’s just doing it’s job. It’s latched onto a concept that comforts you and it’s using it to stop you from finding out. Even if you think you don’t experience much amnesia, I thought the same thing until I realised we had more trauma than I knew about.

dear internet:
you cannot "create" a system. yes, this is directly targeting systems of origins that aren't traumagenic, because those aren't a real thing. yeah, it's possible for people to be traumagenic and not realize it, but true endo/tulpa systems are not real.
i don't care if you're "coping" with something. i don't care if you're trying to keep yourself comfortable. it's not a thing. systems are caused by trauma, dissociation, and fragmentation of a personality and identity that should have formed as a whole. they are caused by repetitive childhood trauma.
believing that you have a severe mental disorder like DID can in itself be considered a disorder or a delusion, but it is not DID.

Ableism
Ableism is defined by the dictionary as discrimination in favor of the abled. Your accusations are way out of left field. Saying a group of abled people are being immature for romanticizing a major debilitating disorder is not fucking ableist. It is quite the opposite. Y'all need to get your heads out of your asses for one second and actually listen to anything I'm saying before immediately verbally attacking me because I am anti-endo, especially when the medical and scientific community agrees with the trauma origin theory. While yes, you can express ideas of ableism to people who are not disabled, calling a group of abled people "immature" is not ableist. It does not reference the disabled in any way, shape, or manner, nor does it harm or tear down any remotely related social structures placed to protect the disabled community. I am not ableist. I am disabled, physically and mentally. People who are able-bodied have taken the idea of "ableism" way too far, going as far as protecting the abled from ableism, leaving the actual disabled people alone and targeted. You wouldn't know ableism if it slapped you in the damn face. I do not give a single fuck about what pro-endos think of me on the internet, because in the real world, where people deal with actual ableism, you wouldn't have the guts to look me in the fucking eyes and call me ableist for defending the disabled community.
Note: Don't take all of this literally, as it seems you pro-endos will look for fucking anything to defend yourselves with. Of course there are going to be idioms and figurative language in an angry text-post. Stop taking hyperboles and running with them.

tbh endos make my brain go thinky,, like in the same way as fictional magic systems (hehe)
cuz like, a lot of them say their orgin is from birth,, and knowing how structural dissociation works,, it’s kinda interesting to me tbh,, like conceptually. Would their personality just,, not integrate ? Does that just not happen? It’s kind of like saying you never developed object permanence or that your vision never flipped.
Endos in a sci-fi context are rlly interesting tbh.

Okay angry post because I've seen shit™ and need to vent
Tumblr media
Anyways- what the fuck, Endos? Like I know it's not all of you but now you're trying to have other disorders? Like NPD? Please tell me why you could EVER want something that people have been given the absolute worst for? I've just accepted at this point that you're gonna try to do this plurality shit, that DID will always be treated like this, but I draw the fucking line at this shit. Why? Fucking why?
This is genuinely disgusting, it makes me want to cry. It's so, so disrespectful and just feels down right violating in a way.
@sysmedsaresexist , seems like something you'd wanna see

Today on shit endos make up...
Tumblr media
"physical venting grounds"
hm.
did u mean,,
"justification of anti-healing because it's self identified"
so it's legit just self deprecation and like self hate
Even if a "headmate" is a nonsexual masochist with that purpose it doesn't need a term that basically justifies anti-healing behavior and self-harm.

professionals see you and endos exactly the same. pushing other people away helps no one except oppressors
guysss endo hate!! I'm so fucking excited this made my day
first of all, the fact that you think that professionals see DID/OSDD systems and endo "systems" the same way shows just how much you interact with the field of psychology (read: not at all)
second of all, endogenic systems are not oppressed. full stop. oppression isn't an internet buzzword that you can pull out, it is a real thing that is getting people killed. so maybe, idk, find a new fucking word to use?
if you wanna have a nice conversation we can have a nice conversation but until then have the day you deserve lol

I do not care. Endogenic systems aren't real systems. They are taking our real, debilitating experiences, and using them for pitty and internet points.
I have been told to kill myself
I have been told I'm lucky to have trauma
I've been told I am lucky to be so fucked up
I've been told I'm lucky to have such severe PTSD
All from endogenics.
I will not consider them real systems until I am given a legitimate, scientific study, proving me wrong.
That is my opinion. If that makes you mad, block me.
My disorder will not be used to gain sympathy.

So I was kinda questioning my view on endos because of reasons. Because of this, I went and looked at the research they often give. I made sure to look at actual studies, and not carrds. I found something very interesting.
None of their resources agree with them. Almost none of their own sites/pages/carrds/etc lead to actual studies, and when they do it’s always in relation to DID or an old article from the 1950s about MPD. I found an article linked by them that was from 2011 and literally said DID wasn’t real. They don’t read their own resources, they just assume it agrees with them.
This post wasn’t made to start an argument. I just want endos and their supporters to look closer at the articles they read, and consider whether it’s actually supporting them, or just openly denying the existence of DID/plurality itself.

Why are you an exclusionist? /Gen
I'm going to guess this is about endos.
The Endo community is extremely problematic. So to start with, Tulpas actually are culturally appropriating. Genuine Tulpas come from Buddhism and it's one of the highest levels of enlightenment in which you can essentially conjure someone before you for their wisdom. They are not inside your brain but instead more like a hallucination. The Buddhist community has said that the endo-tulpas are extremely harmful to their religion and even if they are being genuine about it, it's extreme malpractice.
Now for endos in general, they attempt to take over spaces and terms meant for genuine people struggling from a disorder. I'm the way I am because I was extremely abused as a child. It ruined my life. And it's extremely insensitive to claim that someone can have the same experiences as us by just choosing to. I tried to choose my way into being a singlet many many times and, guess what? It didn't work. Because it's a mental disorder. When endos try and replicate our experiences and claim to be the same, it's like a harmful charactature of it.
(Not to say that the struggles are entirely the same but here's an analogy that people will understand better). It's like if there was a community of Black people discussing their culture and struggles in the modern world and someone in blackface walked up and tried to say that they struggle too and use terms not for them. People would be appalled right? Because it's a horrifying way of saying that you can take the struggles of people who can't change what makes them struggle and acting like you can put it on for a day and it's the same. Because it's not. You can not fully understand the struggles of a community nor pretend to be inside of it when you aren't.
Endos also are extremely toxic. They send hate raids, death threats, and spam to anyone who speaks out about them. I'm expecting to get a ton of hate mail from this. I mean even this anon was to start discourse after I spoke about not supporting endos with another system./npa.
The majority of systems I have met have had horrible experiences with endos as well as do not support them. And I'm thoroughly convinced that any systems that do either: was given misinformation, is scared to speak out on them, doesn't like confrontation, or just isn't aware of the issue.
This would be exclusionist in the same was that excluding Super Straights™ from the LGBTQIA+ community was. Some things need to be excluded, because they aren't in the community. There are plenty of communities out there, and endos are free to find their own. But they aren't a part of the system community.

Hi! I have done some research in plural and multiple stuff, but am not plural myself so obviously I don't have 1) firsthand knowledge or experience and 2) some of the sources seem very contradictory. I wanted to ask, and my intention is not rudeness at all and if my ask is upsetting or triggering, please feel free to delete- but I am a little confused about endo identities vs trauma? What I seem to be reading indicates to me that an endo could have been born plural, or is that not the case? Are they (endo identities) saying they have developed plurality later in life with no trigger? Again, I don't want to be triggering in any way, but after googling and honestly now knowing more definitions but not being less confused, I thought it might be a good idea to ask someone who is informed and has experience with this. I see lots of endo DNI blogs and I'm starting to wonder if it's a thing I should be thinking about or not. Thank you!
(Tw for endo and tulpa mentions)
It really depends on the person. Some claim they are plural by chance, some claim they purposefully made themself plural.
The first one is just fully untrue, and the second one is appropriative.
Endos claim they are plural without trauma, tulpas claim they became plural through purposeful spirituality.

i know people are gonna bitch at me for this or whatever but this isn't an endo supportive blog lmao. due to personal reasons and the trauma we've experienced from systems who claim or haved claimed to be "endogenic" we don't support them. unfollow us or whatever but this is a one off topic we're gonna state. if you came for emojis just take the emojis and go.

Warning: SYSCOURSE!
~~ To preface this, I want to say that I am anti-endo ~~
Before coming on to Tumblr, I've never interacted with endo-genics. Outside of the internet, they just don't exist/are very rare. I'd never even heard of "trans abled" until coming to this website. This is what made me realize that it's all B.S.; they don't actually believe they're systems, they are just pretending because they have nothing better to do with their lives because they are children and don't understand the impact this misinformation creates.
Genuinely, they are impossible to take seriously. It's clear that they are uninformed, immature, naive, and just generally uneducated on the subject. There isn't any point in arguing with them or fighting them, their claims are just too ridiculous.
The point I'm messily getting across here is that we should just... stop. Stop interacting with them, stop correcting them. They aren't going to listen, and it's just going to be harmful to us to interact with them. They will learn their lesson on their own time, likely the hard way. The scientific community has made it exceptionally clear that DID/OSDD/UDD are all trauma-based disorders. The only people the endo-genics are going to trick are other like-minded individuals, which just include dumb preteens that want to feel special.
It is time that we as a community stop giving them the attention, which is clearly what they want.
Sincerely, the Corvidae System [Will, Eddie, & Hannibal]
