This was supposed to go up for Christmas but I decided I dont want any part of my illustration process to be digital so I gave up coloring it digitally half way, and also I drew this without waterproof ink so I cant even finish it traditionally... but please enjoy it, i had fun drawing it

the Toymaker fixation has reached a fever pitch, guys. did you notice that the Toymaker has sweets in his Toyshop? 👀
although the sweets on the right are clearly lollipops, it took a little digging to figure out what the black-and-white ones in the jar are!! although i initially thought they were humbugs, it's much more common for those to have a browner colour. instead, i believe they're bullseyes: a similar boiled mint sweet! 🔥
the interesting thing about bullseyes is that they were manufactured in the late 19th/early 20th century by an American company called Goetze's Candy Company. this seems like a bit of a weird choice, until you realise that Goetze is a distinctly German name...i could absolutely see the Toymaker (or at least, the prop department) choosing to decorate his Toyshop with German-aligned sweets and toys, historical accuracy be damned 😉
