Hello! I’m someone who’s planning to begin taking commissions in the future, and seeing as you have experience I’d like to ask; is there anything you feel new commissioners should know as they get started? Essentials with sheets/process that are easily missable, or just things you’ve learned in your time?

Sorry for the late reply! I think I could talk about the commission process in length and each step there, but I'll just share a few tips for now. For sheets first:

Function over form: Your commission sheet is not an art piece, it's an advertisement, and while pretty graphics can entice people it's important to not let your own art be cut off or drowned by it. This is especially true if you want to showcase fullbodies, character design and larger work, where the entire piece is important.

If you can draw it, show it: Avoid having your examples all be the same subject if you're saying you can draw multiple things. I draw humans, furries/anthros and animals, so I tried to put one of each in my sheet. This also applies if you only draw a specific subject: Human artist? Show different races and body types and clothing. Furry? Show different species and body types (again) etc.

If you draw multiple things also, you may have less opportunity to expand on each area. If you think that's lacking, having an extra examples page will not hurt!

Organize yourself: I know this sounds obvious but please organize your commissions!! Especially if you're taking them on social media DMs (and if they're spread across multiple platforms). I personally recommend a trello, but it doesn't really matter as long as it works.

Things I recommend writing down: The @ or name of the commissioner, where you're contacting (email, twitter, discord, etc.), the request and details of the comm & refsheets.

This will make it so easy to put down updates, the length of your queue, who to do next and grabbing your refs in one place!!

You can check mine out, and you have my permission to just steal it for yourself. I detailed payment, refunds, process & edits and the rights & permissions. It doesn't have to be long, and it's better for it to not be long! But even if you think you don't care about your art to have them, you might find some use anyway.

Fresh New Commission Sheet!

As I've been drawing more, I've decided to make some updates to what I offer commission wise!

i use PayPal and Ko-Fi for payment :) all prices are in USD!

The main difference between this comm sheet and my previous one is updating the prices, simplifying my finishing process, and to showcase more of what I can do with my art!!

Got the norm base prices - 20$ headshot, 25$ halfbody, 30$fullbody

Finishing is my term for shading, as I have two shading methods, and a wiggly-line style of art!

Examples below of Style 1 (smooth) 2 (pixel) and 3 (wiggle)

And I do offer discounts for symmetrical works! I didn't write it on my sheet but its usually 5 bucks, whatever makes the number look good.

Now for the 4 featured things -

Yes, I do have an 18 + account, i'm not linking it here but it shouldn't be too hard to search for my 2nd account on this blog

I'm also happy doing taur designs! I can even make them of usual non-taur creatures!

Nonfurry designs are cool too as you can see by my monster girls, here's a human though for good measure (her name is Sam)

And animations!!! I can do smooth Live2d Animations and also frame by frame animations!! Double the price of the usual commission for what it'll cost, so 40 for headshots, 50 for halfbodies, and 60 for full!

And not listed on the sheet.. Ref Sheets!

The base is 50 bucks for the fullbody and your choice of focus shots, and for 5 dollars each you can get a symmetrical outfit doodle added in!

Other than all that, if you see anything I post and want something like that with your characters, feel free to send it over to me!! Whether its a big OC lineup or some specific pose i did before, just let me know!

That's about it though! Here's my TOS below, and feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

I usually give updates for 1-2 sketch phases, a color phase, and then the finished piece. Once I send you one update, I'll wait for your approval before moving onto the next phase. During these updates, any requested changes should coincide with the stage of the artwork (Posing during sketching, color changes during colors, etc.). Please don't have any fear however if you do need to make a last minute change, just keep it reasonable please. I usually add filters onto my art, I'll be more than happy to send unfiltered alternate versions upon request. Feel free to also personally request different filtered looks (Making the piece pastel, adding a static filter, giving the piece a pride flag overlay, etc.) I'm always happy to experiment. When commissioning an animation, please let me know whether you'd like a smoothly made animation using Live2D or a frame-swap animation. Feel free to ask for examples, but just note that these you'll need to pick one or the other Feel free to message me here or on Discord (Mel#4367) for any questions, or if there's something you'd like that isn't listed here [By commissioning me, you agree that your commissioned piece will not be used for AI art, any cryptocurrency related means, or reused/resold for more than you paid.]

Works at the Daily Bugle, which is a combination of a News Channel and Website in this, as an errand runner. Met Peter there and immediately became his big brother (bro why is this 16 year old getting good pictures of a Spider-Guy? He's gonna get himself hurt good lird)

Generally a chill dude, but gets super protective over those he cares about, especially his friends (he could probably carry all three AND Peter at once lol).

Likes rock like Max, but prefers the much calmer classic stuff. ACDC and Def Leppard are his go-tos.

Has a complicated work relationship with JJJ, who he respects but also can and will argue with if given the right opportunity (mostly with Peter lol)

Michael Morbius (Ref In Progress)

Biology Major, makes it work despite any complications.

Has albinism! Or at least partial albinism. Either way he sun-burns easily, and needs glasses. He usually dyes his hair black, as to not stand out among his family.

Fancy lad! Loves to dress in ornate suits and such, even just to go to class. He comes from a more wealthy family, which allows this.

For how I'm going about his health in this... I'd like to keep it unspecified to keep the mystery going, but I think the doctors would write him off as having hemophilia and a weakened immune system, you know how doctors are.

(As for the origin of it... it probably ties back to his parents doing shady shit a while ago, either way he can't do much about it, despite his best efforts)

Nice, but not always kind. A little cynical when caught in a bad mood, and prefers to keep to himself most of the time. Hangs out with his friends when he can actually handle prolonged social interaction.

If there are things I haven’t listed you want to talk about go ahead and ask, the worst I can say is no, and trust me I won’t judge. Most of my no stuff is just because I can’t portray the reasons behind it correctly why someone would like it.

I do strongly suggest if you have preferred characters to use, is to send me a short paragraph of their general personality. I usually can understand them from that. If it’s NSFW and I don’t understand something about a certain kink I will ask. If you have a certain way you want the story to go, I suggest writing a plot summary in the form of bullet points. It doesn’t have to be really detailed unless you want it. I will ask if I have to. I will send a rough draft for approval before the final draft is complete. I also would like if you could provide a drawn ref sheet or a written description of any characters involved.

I reserve the right to use any written work I have been commissioned for as an example, though I will ask first if the commissioner wants to remain anonymous or want me to change names of characters/etc. before posting.

All my examples of furry work are older, but my current work has been in anime fandom, I still write furry it's just don't have anything recent to use.

bc that's a different sort of guilt that would be involved? the type of parent you love but also hate? the one you love inside your heart and hate inside your head? you're never good enough for them but they've never been good enough for you, either?

like you put that specific type of baggage on leonard mccoy? put that on him and then have him trying to save his father's life? trying to prove to himself that he loves his father by trying to save him? trying to prove to himself he doesn't hate his father?

his father begging leonard to let him go, and leonard - still genuinely trying to do the right thing - dealing with intrusive thoughts of if he's keeping his father there to make him suffer, or if if he let him go he'd be killing his father because of that hidden hate?

The Match I Never Watch

…and with good reason….

My football correspondent has written his usual exemplarary review. Honestly, I feel lucky to be publishing it, as his writing is good enough for the Telegraph or Guardian!!

His last two paragraphs had me both laughing and crying. What he says is, sadly, spot on.

I hate to say this, but I fear that Ten Hag has had it. It’s not his fault that he’s had a dreadful injury list - but other factors ARE within his control and he has completely fallen to pieces. I don’t think he will get the sack immediately- they will save that indignity for December 18th, the day after we play Liverpool at Anfield. If there is any semblance of a repeat of the 7-0, he will be out of the door the next morning. Can anyone honestly see us avoiding a thrashing in that match?

It is reminding me of the last days of David Moyes. He is a good manager but has clearly lost grip. His new signings have not gelled, and with Rashford and Bruno effectively downing tools, we may as well start each match with nine men. I read some of the fan sites and although I don’t agree with it, the majority of fans appear to have turned against him quite viciously.

I think it’s odds on that if Ancelloti leaves Madrid, the Glazers will be in a hurry to approach him and they will do so even before December 17 if they can.

In conclusion, I will clarify for the avoidance of doubt: I definitely want Ten Hag to STAY. He deserves at the very least to stay until the end of the season. The problem is that there is no loyalty and patience in football and I just don’t see it happening.

hi - united and city approached this game with contrasting recent records - any united fan will tell you that the team has not played well for 90 minutes in any match this season whilst city are keeping themselves in touch at the top of the league and are cruising at the top of their champions league group

so as a united fan i was clinging to the well worn cliches of 'its a derby, form can be discounted, its 11 v 11, we're at home, etc'

after a fairly even start (united not conceding after 15 seconds) city started to monopolise possession and the re-energised onana denied haaland - on 26 minutes united cleared away a free kick from their area - there had been the usual toing and froing while players jostled as the ball came in - play continued for a bit but suddenly it stopped and the ref wandered over to watch TV - we knew what was coming next - hojlund was judged to be grabbing rodri - a penalty was given and haaland scored and celebrated in front of the glum stretford end

i have to say it probably was a pen though if refs were consistent there'd be at least 3 pens for each side in every match

play resumed and hojlund might have equalised but was crowded out and ederson saved well from mctominay but city were on top and haaland was almost celebrating another goal but for a tremendous flying leap by onana

after 49 minutes city repelled a united raid and from edersons clearance an admirable flowing move ended with haaland heading in his and city's 2nd - rashford might have netted a consolation but missed - after 80 minutes rodri was allowed to dance into united's area and his shot was palmed away by onana - the alert haaland pounced on the ball and crossed for the onrushing foden to turn in the 3rd

this was a well deserved victory for city - it had echoes of a 3 - 0 win over united in march 2014 a few weeks before moyes was sacked - it was also not dissimilar to the 2 - 0 stroll in november 2021 that heralded ole's departure - for ten hag's sake i hope history isn't about to repeat itself

the above notwithstanding it has to be said that after the promise of last season this term is looking doomed to be one of abject failure - united lack energy, focus, ideas and form

the back four of wan bissaka, varane, martinez and shaw are all missing - casemiro is picking up injuries, amrabat seems unsuited to the premier league, mount can't nail down a role, antony flatters to deceive, sancho is exiled, rashford is a shadow of last years version, hojlund is raw and lacks support, van de beek - is he still there?

other than that everything is tickety boo!!!!

“Y/n, I bet you’re the only girl that’s ever turned Jake down.” Brock said to you over the loud sounds of people talking in the background of the bar and he wasn’t wrong, any girl who Jake has every approached or even talked to would be falling in love with him right away but not you. You always used the excuses like “I’ve known him for too long, it would be weird.” Or “I just don’t want anything with anyone right now,” But all of that just made Jake want you more.

“He’s not wrong.” The young swede sitting to the left of you chimed in. “I’ve never seen anyone turn Jake down, you must have some anti Jake gene in you or something.” The three of you bursted laughing at Elias’ words before you took a sip of your drink. “I don’t know, I want something serious and I know Jake can’t give me that.” You said quietly but Brock and Elias definitely heard you as they exchanged a look to each other.

Jake came back to the area that all of you were seated and nuzzled his face into your shoulder, clearly very drunk. “Hey,” He grinned while slowly closing his eyes as he couldn’t help but drift off to sleep.

“Are you sure you guys don’t have something going on? Secretly fucking or friends with benefits?” Brock joked quietly, looking at you rubbing Jakes back and comforting him. “Seems like you and petey are the ones that are secretly fucking.” You commented at Brocks words and his face immediately turned red.

By the next morning you had completely forgotten what you had said last night, the only thing occupying your head was the pounding headache from your hangover. “Hey,” Jake grinned while taking a sip of water in his kitchen and that was when you realized you had fallen asleep on his couch last night. “You’re creepy, were you watching me sleep?” You joked and threw a pillow at him. “For your information, I was not. I actually need to get ready for practice.”

“Do you mind taking care of Bruce and Donny today? I forgot they had to go to the groomers.” Jake asked nicely knowing you would say yes. “Yes, but only if you hangout with me tonight.” You smiled at him as he nodded. “Count me in, okay I really gotta go get ready.” Jake pulled you in for a hug and a light kiss on the head before he rushed to get ready, you waited till Jake left to get ready for the day. You had clothes there from spending time over there so much so you grabbed a pair of leggings and your favourite hoodie of Jakes before you hopped in the shower.

You ran some errands before you had to pick the dogs up from the groomer, you sat them in the backseat before taking a photo of you and the dogs to show Jake you had picked them up.

You started putting away the groceries and grabbed the ingredients you needed for dinner, you decided to make burgers and salad for dinner since you knew it was Jakes favourite meal and he was dying to try out the new grill he purchased the other day.

“Hey.” Jake whispered right by your ear which made you jump while preparing the salad. “I already knew you were here,” “Yeah but you still got scared.” Jake chuckled at you and sat on the stool for the kitchen island. “What’s for dinner?” Jake raised an eyebrow at you before you pulled out the hamburger patties. “Burgers, you get to use the grill that you’ve been dying to use.” You smiled as Jakes eyes immediately lit up. “Oh god, you are a literal man-child.” You sighed with a chuckle.

Since Jake was gone on a road trip, you went over to his house to take care of his dogs and the house, it was the second game of their road trip when Jake got his injury.

You couldn’t help but sigh as you saw Jake get hit, he was against Dallas when Jamie Oleksiak collided with Jake. But the sigh quickly turned into fear when Jake was struggling to get up. “Oh shit.” You mumbled to yourself as the refs whistled and the trainer went on to help him. Jake slipped a little but got off the ice quickly with the help of Bo and Brock.

You watched the replays of the hit that they were showing on tv before you texted Jake.

You were half asleep when Jake called you, you quickly woke up from the call and answered.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” Your voice was sleepy and Jake could tell. “Hey, I’m okay. Sorry did I wake you up?” Hearing Jakes voice made you calm down. “No, no its okay.” You mumbled, half asleep which made Jake chuckle. “I’ll be home tomorrow.” Jake quickly realized you weren’t listening when he heard your light little snores. “I love you” He whispered before hanging up to fall asleep as well.

You woke up early next morning and cleaned up around the house and waited for him to come home. “Oh god I look like a mess.” You mumbled as you saw a glimpse of yourself in the window. You quickly tried to fix your hair and outfit but quickly gave up and changed into a set of Jakes clothes along with a messy bun.

“Hey.” Jake said cheekily as he flopped himself on top on you, wincing a little from his injury. “Hey,” You mumbled quietly, now realizing you were asleep. “You’re home.” You grinned. “Would be better if it was our home though,” Jake winked as he whispered into your ear. “Jake,” You sighed as he kissed your cheek. “Y/n, just kiddinggg.” Jake said as he dragged on the ‘g’ and sat up on the couch.

“How was your trip? Well other than the injury.” You asked but quickly realized it wasn’t a good question to ask him. “The trip was pretty fun, but did you know the doctor actually said that cuddling will help out my concussion and my injuries?” Jake smirked as you looked up at him. “Oh really?” You teased, moving your body onto Jakes and burying your face in his chest while you traced the tattoos on his arm with your fingers. “Yeah, just like that.” Jake chuckled and rested his face into the top of your head.

Jake didn’t want anything super special for his birthday this year, just a little party at his place with close friends, which was surprising since Jake was a party guy.

“Morning, birthday boy.” You grinned over FaceTime to a half asleep Jake. “Hey.” Jake mumbled, pulling his blanket up to his head. “What do you want?”

“Woah, woah. I’m just trying to be nice and wish you a happy birthday,” You defended yourself as Jake laughed. “I’m just kidding, thank you y/n.”

You ended the call shortly after to go get ready for the day since Jake kept on whining about wanting to go back to sleep.

You snuck into Jakes house with your spare key, setting down the breakfast you had picked up from his favourite cafe. You tippy toed quietly up the stairs to Jakes room, trying not to wake him up yet. Sneaking into Jakes bed and cuddling up behind him. “Hey.” You mumbled against Jakes neck before giving him a kiss there. “Y/n?” Jake mumbled, chuckling a little. “How did you get in?”

“I have your key dummy.” You laughed, starting to play with Jakes hair and you knew he loved it. “I brought you your favourite breakfast.” You smiled as you saw the smile grow on Jakes face as well. “You did?” “Yep its in the kitchen,” Jake jumped up out go bed and headed downstairs as you sighed and laid in his bed for awhile.

Before you knew it, you had dozed off to sleep. Groaning as you woke up to the loud music playing downstairs combined with the sound of people talking. Making sure you looked presentable and awake before going downstairs.

“Hey, you’re up!” Jake exclaimed as you walked downstairs and greeted everyone, realizing that Jake was already very drunk. “The drinks are in the kitchen if you want one.” Jake grinned with his visible rosy cheeks. “Thank you.” You smiled at Jake and made your way to the kitchen, grabbing a red bull and taking a big sip so you can pour way too much vodka in the can than needed.

Completely tipsy and almost drunk, you found yourself sitting on top of Jakes lap with your face inches away from his. Jake softly but his hand on your cheek and you leaned in as well, realizing what you were doing and pulled away.

“Why won’t you give me a chance?” Jake whined at you pulling your face away from his. “Jake.” You mumbled quietly. “No, don’t give me that ‘Jake’ bullshit. Give me a reason.” “Its not that I don’t feel the same way about you, I do, but I don’t know what you want out of this and I want something serious, not one of your casual Friday night hookups, I want an actual relationship but I don’t think you want that.” You finally let it all out, the things you’ve been whining about to Brock and Elias, he finally knew.

It took Jake a moment to process what you said especially under the influence, but he tried to sober up before he could say anything else. “Just give me a chance y/n, I promise I can be the serious relationship you want.” You sighed at his words, knowing you needed another sip of alcohol before you could do anything else. “Tell me that in the morning Jake, when you’re sober.” You stood up and left the living room so you didn’t have to see the disappointed look on Jakes face, finding yourself in his bedroom and changing into Jakes clothes so you could drift off to sleep.

You woke up to Jake wanting to talk about last night immediately but you somehow successfully persuaded him to let you wake up and have a cup of coffee.“I know I haven’t had the best reputation with long-term relationships but I wanna try, with you. So just please, can we work this out?” Jake said quietly, he’s never had to do stuff like this before and you could tell he was taking it seriously. “You know how this is gonna end if it doesn’t go well right? I need you and I can’t lose you.” You said quietly, afraid to make any eye contact with him because you were tearing up at the thought of losing him.

“Then I won’t let it go bad.” Jake sat closer to you and tucked the loose strands of your hair behind your ear and he noticed the tears.

“You promise?” You mumbled, looking up at him. “I promise y/n.” Jake said while smiling lightly at you before you pressed your lips onto his and you could’ve sworn the kiss was out of a movie, it was perfect.
