Hello! Sorry this is going to be a long ask.
I'm writing a cast of four characters, all of whom have some form of disability and I'd like your input, especially since a few of them fall into tropes I've seen talked about on the blog.
I have autism, ADHD, and chronic joint pain that is undiagnosed but probably related to hypermobility. All of them have ADHD and autism but I'm not going to talk about that at length for any of them because I'm pretty comfortable with writing them.
Dispite the amount of disabled characters I have and the questions I have about how to portray them, this is not a story about disability or the disabled experience, but I do want to showcase my disabled characters in a nuanced way that highlights that their disability is not separable from them.
This is also for a fanfiction, and the source has some trouble with how it portrays disability (evil character with an eye patch, bionics that completely negate the disability) and I'm trying to figure out what I can modify and what I need to just throw out.
I'll go in alphabetical order and talk about them and the tropes I'm worried about falling into/what I want advice on.
Autumn (he/they)
He has ADHD, autism, classical EDS, is mildly HoH (about 20-30 decibels less than normal range), and has three fingers on his right hand due to an injury. They use a variety of mobility aids throughout the story, starting with only occasionally using a cane and ending with using forearm crutches on good days and a wheelchair on bad days.
The tropes/things I'm concerned about with them are the “good” wheelchair user, the noble dead disabled character, and finger prosthetics
The "pure/good" wheelchair user trope I'm partially concerned about because he becomes the moral core of the cast as time goes on and he gets more disabled. He doesn't become a better person, really, but everyone else gets Worse. He's still snarky and can be selfish and jaded at times, but I feel like it's harder to demonstrate that at the end.
Being the most honest and least willing to capitulate to doing terrible things leads to his execution, which is a turning point and a point of no return. I feel like this ties into a trope of the disabled character dying first, especially since he's the one who's using disability aids/is most explicitly disabled.
I've seen the posts about why finger prosthetics aren't useful/common, but I was thinking that he'd start off with canon-typical bionic fingers before eventually realizing that he doesn't need them and it's more hassle to put them on and off than it is to just not have them. Is this an okay use of finger prosthetics since it's kind of grappling with the trope itself? Or would it be better for him not to have them in the first place?
Right now I have it so Autumn’s sister Summer died and he named himself in her honor when he transitioned. That's pretty immutable at this point. However, right now I have her as d/Deaf, with much more profound hearing loss than Autumn. (Which is also why he knows ASL) Does this fall into a disabled dead character issue?
Chauncey (he/him)
Chauncey has ADHD, autism, burn scars, chronic pain (unspecified, based on my own experiences) and dyscalculia.
Chauncey's the one I'm frankly least concerned about any specific tropes. There are only one or two concerns I have with him:
As an author, it's important to know what disability a character has even if they don't know. I know in your FAQ you say “I'm disabled is it okay to x” is generally okay, but do you think I should have a more specific disability in mind that matches my symptoms or can I keep it no specificity?
He's a clone who was rapidly aged and I wasn't sure how to figure out if/how that might affect his dyscalculia since it's not exactly a situation that happens in real life but that's about it.
Morticia (she/her)
She's my protagonist. She has autism, ADHD, a visual impairment in the form of a missing eye, and visible scarring on her face.
She's heavily based on the canon character who was an “evil eyepatch” guy. I changed it so she actually has issues with said eye and made her less evil during the period of time she uses it but I'm not sure if I should just ditch the eyepatch all together.
She starts with a bionic eye (it's not perfect, but she can see out of it to some extent). Then she gets into some sci-fi bullshit and starts piloting around a robot telepathically, but her signals get crossed with her bionic eye, so she covers it with an eyepatch while she's piloting the robot. She does use this scheme to commit 28 murders, but the murders are kind of justified by the plot? She's really written as doing some ehh things for what she believes is right. I definitely wouldn't write the eyepatch that way if it wasn't in the source, but it was like the way to identify her character in the source, so it feels weird to not have it at all.
After that, she gets arrested, gets her bionic taken, and gets a prosthetic to keep appearances and hold the shape. Stuff happens, and she gets another bionic with some more visual info that is sometimes too much for her. She gets a lot worse than when she had the eye patch, but she does still have a noticeable eye difference. Her later bionic is totally customizable and she normally keeps it a glowing gold.
I have questions about her facial scarring because she uses it to play on people's perceptions. When she's campaigning and trying to look innocent and kind, she covers it as much as she can. However, when she feels like she is in control and can do whatever she wants without consequences, she doesn't bother or even chooses to try to cover her freckles but avoid her scars because she thinks they make her more intimidating. This results in her having her scarring visible during scenes where she's being "evil" but not when she's being "good." Is that okay? It feels like it's playing into the "villain with scars" but since she as a character is doing that, it feels less like the story itself is doing it (especially since Chauncey has similar or slightly more prominent scarring and doesn't do similar things), but I'm unsure.
She is evil, and disabled, but I don't want her to be an evil disabled character. I try to associate her covering up her scarring more with masking/trying to fit in than with her being “good” but I'm not sure if it comes off that way.
Mortimer (he/him)
ADHD, autism, and limb difference (upper arm amputee)
Mortimer is probably the character I'm most worried about with my disability rep (shocking considering the five huge paragraphs I just wrote about Morticia). He's the trope of “amputee that fixes his own prosthetics/tinkers on himself.” He also makes Autumn and Morti’s aids (at least until the arrest). He also kind of falls into an autistic savant but I'm less worried about how to navigate that since I'm very familiar with the autistic community, am autistic, and have other autistic characters.
I'm worried that if I make the prosthetics he makes not “cybernetic fix-all” it'll defeat some of what I'm trying to do with making him just as good as inventors who have done that in canon. I don't know how to retcon that canon without using an author's note, which feels disjointed and I want to avoid it.
To try to work with this and not ignore the fact he's disabled, I show the prosthetics needing maintenance and try to show them sometimes being uncomfortable or heavy.
However, this leads into my second problem with how I'm handling his disability. His character arc causes him to go from being the nicest one in the cast who is very meticulous but can sometimes have a temper, to becoming reckless, rude, and seemingly uncaring.
As he becomes more reckless and less willing to care for himself, he stops doing some of the necessary maintenance on his prosthetic, causing it to break more often and rust. I'm worried this looks like I'm tying his disability getting “worse” with his morality, since he also stops caring for others as much when he stops caring for himself.
I'm also not sure if it is okay for him to paint his bionic arm to try to look like a flesh arm, since he was a criminal and he was trying to make himself look less identifiable at a glance. And if it is, when he stops doing his maintenance on it, it makes sense for the paint to chip, but that would strengthen the association of him being more visibly disabled as he becomes meaner and harsher. I'm not sure if having Autumn bring the only one who's personality remains more or less the same while becoming more visibly disabled balences this out a little bit or if it's a point of having two tropes at the same time doesn't make either better. (If Autumn is a “good wheelchair user”)
Questions involving more than one character:
Autumn knows some ASL. Mortimer is an unrealistic character that knows far more than any one person can know, and he knows basically any language as far as the story is concerned. Autumn teaches Morti a little ASL, as well. Since Autumn can understand most conversation, they generally use it instead of whispering rather than in normal conversation. Is that an acceptable use of ASL?
Currently all of my visible facial and limb differences are due to injury. I have extremely few other characters with any prominence or description at all, certainly to the extent where it would be reasonable to know if someone has a difference due to injury or birth. Do I change/add something to these four so it's less All Injuries?
I mentioned before Mortimer and Morticia trying to hide their differences for different reasons. I don't really want to go into any sense of shame they have over it, just them hiding for practical purposes. If it's not appropriate to hide them for practical purposes, do I have people react as if they had hidden them or is that erasure? (e.g. Mortimer doesn't paint his arm and it's visibly mechanical. Is that something the police are looking to identify him by or do I ignore it? It feels weird to ignore it, but if it's causing problems for the characters it feels like a reasonable reaction would be to try to blend in, but is trying to blend in/hiding their disability just heightening the sense that disabled people need to hide?)

I will answer only some of your questions because I don't have enough experience with a lot of the subject matter here. I'd recommend looking at this post some time after it's published to see if maybe a follower had an answer/suggestion for you.
Now for the questions I'm able to answer:
For Chauncey;
It's 100% okay to base it on your own experience. At times disabilities are mysterious and unspecific, that's just how it sometimes is. The problem with this that appears from abled authors is that the symptoms or treatments just often don't make sense, because they have no clue what they're doing; confusing basic terms, making weird conclusions...
But you are a person with lived experience. You understand how your symptoms work and how you manage it from the best - first person - point of view. If someone is well-equipped to write a character with your disability, it's you.
For Morticia (cool name BTW);
As of the bionic eye; as far as I'm aware they don't really exist yet, but this is a sci-fi scenario so it's a bit different. (If you want to hear about the currently real options, here's a post that could interest you).
I'm slightly puzzled by her eyepatch fixing the signal issues; I would've assumed that it would transmit things either way (?) because with an eyepatch she would still see, just the inside of the patch and not the usual stuff. But my cluelessness here might be my fault by the fact that I'm not familiar with the source material. But if it's meant for a general (non-fandom) audience, I think it would be great if you could elaborate on the science here!
With the later eyes she gets, I advise you to keep her visually impaired even if her vision improves somewhat. It shouldn't be a cure. You potentially could think of it like hearing aids, where they can be more or less helpful, but are often more annoying than anything else and aren't fully "restoring" the sense by any means. Maybe her bionic eye has static, or weird spots, or causes double vision.
Now for the "hmm" part...

Please, please, please don't do this. To answer your question; not okay.
I have written a post somewhat about this kind of thing. I really dislike playing with ableism in this way. Portraying scars as "intimidating" on an already dicey character... just no.
To pull this off in a way that's not offensive, you would have to research disfiguremisia in and out. It would need active commentary and a lot of teaching-the-reader-why-this-is-bad, and if you have to ask if it's okay, then you just aren't ready for it. And that's fine! You don't have to write a scenario based on heavy disfiguremisia, so don't. Remember, it's not her acting a certain way, it's you writing her to act a certain way.
I don't want you to take this personally, but please just don't write this. Not like this, at least.
For the "fitting in" part, I addressed it in the post linked above; I don't think that I have anything to add that wasn't included there.
For Mortimer, the best I can do right now is give you a bunch of links that will hopefully be helpful to you. This is just way beyond my answering capabilities and we don't have any mods who are amputees at the moment, so you're at the mercy of follower input for the most part. But;

For the rest of the questions;

I would say yes! Some of the tropes that you're working if are Not Great, so adding a few additional characters that don't fall into them will help a lot. Try having some characters with similar disabilities that don't tick the issue-causing boxes. Throw someone with a facial difference that doesn't commit any kind of mass murder in there.

In real life they would probably be recognized by it, though I need to say that there is absolutely a part of the population who just Doesn't Notice. People can absolutely be oblivious, especially if the lack of limb is hidden by clothes. Particularly if there are a lot of things going on.
That said, if whoever seen them has noticed, then they would look for that. That's just the logical outcome. But I don't think an eyepatch helps much to hide the actual disability, they would still assume that the person with a bionic eye and the eyepatch-wearing person are probably the same.
You can potentially avoid it by making a large chunk of the population disabled, lol. "Girl without an eye" isn't very helpful information to hunt someone by when there's dozens of people with that description in the city.
For the end, I'm sorry that some parts of it might have come off as Not the Most Encouraging (the Morticia part...), please remember that I'm just criticizing the tropes and implications. I can kind of tell that whatever the source material is, it is way worse about its treatment of disability/facial difference, so I would consider it an improvement nonetheless. Still, it could be better. I hope that the above links and answers will help you with your project.

Hey! Mod Patch hopping in here to talk a bit about Autumn. I think that you’re aware of the tropes this could fall into is a good first step.
First of all, you mention Autumn is missing some fingers and has classical EDS. Both of these could make using a manual wheelchair more difficult. Is the wheelchair in question manual? If it is perhaps consider adding a power assist (perhaps like a fantasy version of a smart drive.
I’m not too concerned about him being “pure” because you mention that they are 1) working with other “immoral” folks. My suggestion would be to try and lean into the selfish and jaded parts of the character. Show his motivations aren't exclusively disability-related. I am a bit concerned about his execution. I understand that you might not be able to change that plot point but can you have other characters who use mobility aids and survive longer? They don’t have to be as major in the story.

I’m assuming TikTok is going to be the biggest beneficiary of this. But I wonder what it will mean in terms of politics and journalism during what appears to be a significant pivot to video. Not just in terms of national security because, as discussed previously, byte.dance is concerning there. But the people who do well on TikTok are not the same as Twitter. I am also concerned about what too online-influenced TikTok journalism will be like. I love to hear your thoughts.
I mean, I think a website with 10% of the "heavy" users provide 90% of the content and half the global revenue was never going to be sustainable or desirable anyway.
But it sounds like there's a couple of different factors:
-The decline in heavy tweeters has been since the start of the pandemic, so there's going to be a combination of deaths and user burnout and lack of new twitter content.
-Pornography/NSFW content accounting for 13% of the content (and growing) means that advertisers and other users aren't going to want to touch it (as indicated by the fairly big names who withdrew advertising on Twitter)
-The boom in cryptocurrency interest and discussions was never going to be sustainable, especially now that there's been a bust and decline in crypto now (and with increasing global efforts to regulate and corral it in addition).
-A good number of the people using Twitter for politics, like a lot of right wingers, decamped for other platforms, and those who use it for news and discussions are likely also connected to the issues about user burnout and disengagement, plus there's now twitch and tiktok and instagram and facebook live and youtube which allow for more customization and longer content.
-The study, and the Reuters article, pointed out that people who are interested in fashion or celebrities decamped to Instagram and TikTok, which are better platforms for those topics - but it also means a big loss in potentially active and heavy users and also a limited appeal for advertisers.
There's just so much competition out there regarding social media platforms and capabilities (China and India both have their own equivalents, and with populations in the billions, Twitter needs them more than they need Twitter, and that goes back to capability and appeal), and twitter doesn't have a whole lot that's super distinctive or appealing at this point, and that's before you factor in how relatively limited the overall userbase is. Only, what, 20% of Americans have a twitter account?
I think some of this was partially inevitable, just because of the rise of streaming and podcasting and having the ability to not only get your message or information out there, but not have the form or content restrictions that twitter does, and I think a lot of media and news orgs have started that transition and shift.
I think that it'll mean the need and pressure for better moderation and restrictions on tiktok (and other options) will grow, and more of a focus in how we debunk or fact-check and track news stories and disinformation, unless and until tiktok is just outright banned or shut down or a viable competitor comes along to challenge it. I also think that twitter will need to make some radical shifts and changes in order to stay competitive, though Elon Musk's ideas would make it more likely to choke itself to death.

When "Hope Itself has become Degenerative," Strive Anyway!
Addiction is a degenerative disease characterized by progressive and sometimes irreversible deterioration and partial or total loss of all matter of bodily functions and organs.
Some changes are unchangeable (I'm getting a little choked up here).
Imagine being the sibling, parent or child of someone deep into their addiction. Now imagine wondering if the addict doesn't stop now, they may be on the road to where certain changes to their brain will become permanent. It may be too late already, you think.
You know that the addict or alcoholic is still using because you see with your own eyes that they have been slowly dying. You are glad when they get arrested because you know that when they are behind bars, their disease has also been arrested. It's not living, but it's not dying either. You squeeze a little hope out of this jail cell interruption. This is wearing on you, has been wearing you down for years now. Your hopes are slowly eroding, hoping for the best, but beginning to expect the worst.
Each time, each relapse, each arrest, each drama more like the countless times before. Hope itself has become degenerative.

I warn you that I've seen people suffer permanent brain damage. Suicide. Complete and utter hopelessness. But I have seen change, too. The possibility of change. The reemergence of hope after the smallest hope seemed nothing less than foolish.
I have seen too, that recovery may miraculously spread outward from the human pool, purifying the waters. All may begin to heal. These waters may become restorative and resilient.

These are the waters in which we find ourselves. These are the waters of addiction, and these also are the waters of recovery. Every flick of our fins may move us towards the Beauty of Recovery and away from the Complicit and Degenerative qualities of Addiction.
Swim in the direction of Recovery and away from the progressive, downward pull of Addiction. There are 10,000 ways forward.

James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War-Machine: Paraplegia. He suffered a spinal injury in Captain America: Civil War leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. He uses leg braces to walk.
Charles Xavier/Professor X: Paraplegia. Professor X is a wheelchair user. He appears as such in both the X-Men comics and movies. Depending on the universe, his legs are either crushed?? or he has a spinal cord injury from a stray bullet during X-Men: First Class.
Matt Murdock/Daredevil: Visual impairment. Matt Murdock is blind - an injury he suffered by radioactive materials when he was a child. He deals with depression in the comics. He appears in various adaptations of the comics such as f.e. the Netflix show ‘Daredevil’.
James “Bucky” Barnes/The Winter Soldier: Amputee. He is portrayed as such in some of the comics, animated series, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has a prosthetic arm. In TFATWS he is in therapy.
Mercedes “Misty” Knight: Amputee. An explosion left her without a limb. Similar to the Winter Soldier, Misty has a bionic arm.
Steve Rogers/Captain America: Before Steve Rogers got the super soldier serum, he had various disabilities which differ according to various sources. Including rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, asthma, bone deformity/scoliosis, anaemia, heart trouble, colour blindness, partial deafness, having a limp due to polio.
Clint Barton/Hawkeye: Hearing impairment. In the comics (at least a portion of them), Clint is deaf. He uses hearing aid and sign language. Depending on the run, he lost his hearing because of a sonic arrow or had his eardrums destroyed.
Jubilation “Jubilee” Lee: In Wolverine #62 it was revealed that she has dyscalculia.
Eddie McDonough/Hornet: Eddie has Cerebral Palsy.
Maya Lopez/Echo: Hearing impairment.
Wade Wilson/Deadpool: Chronic pain. Terminally ill with cancer, he underwent an experimental treatment which caused physical deformities and chronic pain.
Dr. Steven Strange: After a car accident he’s left with permanent nerve damage in both of his arms.
Thor: Visual impairment. During the events of the movie Thor: Ragnarok he lost his right eye. In comics he’s implied to walk with a cane and have a prosthetic arm.
Nebula: She has all kinds of physical mutilations caused by her adoptive father - Thanos, as well as body parts replaced by mechanical ones.
Nick Fury: Visual impairment. He was scratched by Goose and lost sight in one eye. He wears an eye patch.

DSMP Scars and Disability Headcanons.
Part 1!
Tubbo
3rd degree burns mainly centered on the face, torso, and left shoulder, with some lesser burns fanning from these areas.
- Has to apply daily moisturizer and ointment to these areas because of dryness.
- Movement is a bit restricted in areas where the burns are worse because the skin is very taut and still tender.
- Because of the taut skin in his face, making expressions can be quite difficult.
- Left eyebrow is completely burned off and his right eyebrow is partially there.
- Heavily damaged tear ducts, he physically cannot cry. This causes his eyes to be very watery/leaky and quite irritated.
Heavy eye damage due to the Red Festival execution.
- Left eye is completely destroyed and he has a prosthetic in his socket or just wears an eye patch.
Left ear is completely destroyed, he cannot hear from his left side. He has partial hearing loss in his right due to many repeated explosions over the server’s events.
Left arm is gone from the upper part down due to Doomsday when he jumped in front of Tommy from Techno’s fireworks.
- He made himself a bionic prosthetic during Snowchester and mainly wears it when doing projects. When not doing projects he just wears a simple and comfortable sling made from Friend’s wool (Tommy knitted it).
3rd degree burn nerve damage
- Very intense nerve damage in the area of his burns. He cannot feel anything in those areas, whether it be pain or the cold.
C-PTSD
- Lots of long term repeated trauma over the events of the server. Pretty self explanatory.
Selectively Mute
- Due to his tendency to go unresponsive in stressful situations, even when he is the spotlight of said stressful situation.
Tommyinnit
Lost right leg from the knee down as well as his ring finger and middle finger on his right hand due to frostbite (from escaping Exile and walking to Techno’s house).
- Techno made him a basic prosthetic but then Sam made him a bionic prosthetic for his missing leg as he also made Ponk’s bionic legs! Tubbo is the one that updates and fixes it nowadays.
Crutch and Wheelchair user
- He mainly used crutches to assist him to walk just for stability reasons when he first got his leg amputated. And then used them to help with stability when he first got his prosthetic.
- He uses a wheelchair when he isn’t wearing his prosthetic and is having a bad day (mental exhaustion, fatigue, understimmed or overstimulated, etc).
- Sam made his wheelchair for him!
Iatrogenic Facial Nerve Injury (from his death in the prison).
- Right half of his face is droopy and paralyzed due to this injury. He can only move the other side even if movement can be difficult and twitchy.
- Mildly slurred speech.
- Difficulty chewing and consuming food when eating.
- Processing issues
Right eye damage due to nerve injury
- Slightly red eye (looks like pink eye)
- Partially blind
Hard of hearing
- Lots of close perimeter explosions will do that to you. He also has tinnitus.
C-PTSD
- Same reason as Tubbo, pretty self explanatory.
Autistic
- Lots of difficulty with understanding others and impaired communication (he explains things in ways he understands them but others may not get it).
- Much more likely to go non verbal than have an outburst nowadays when it comes to the bad days.
- Wears cardigans and sweaters because they don’t mess with his sensory issues and are fun to stim with.
- Gardening and animal husbandry are his special interests.

- From getting struck by lightning on Doomsday
Wilbur Soot
Schizoaffective Disorder
- He has bipolar type Schizoaffective Disorder.
- His symptoms got worse during the Election Arc and Pogtopia era due to increased stress, this leading to increased paranoia and disorganized thoughts.
- Kept this hidden from most people except Tommy and Niki because he didn’t want to be seen as a weak president. Niki and Tommy bee easily noticed when he was having “one of those” days and would aid him as best as they could (Tommy more often after the Election Arc).
- Often suffered through hallucination episodes by himself without anyone to help him cope through it because of this.
Knee braces (uses a cane to walk after revival)
- Just has pretty bad knees, especially after the Independence War. Can get stiff and sometimes ache or even lock up.
- Knees are especially bad after revival. So he uses a cane to help himself walk to catch himself if his knees decide to just lock up and he needs balance.
3rd degree burns on the left half of his body
- Because he was literally right next to the center of the explosion on the 16th he has a lot of burn damage (even with protection from Phil’s wings).
- Half of his body has bad nerve damage (similar to Tubbo’s) where he cannot feel anything on that side of his body.
- Also similar to Tubbo, the skin is very taut so he has limited movement and facial expression on that side of his face and body.
- Sometimes forgets to add ointment and moisturizer to his burns so he needs someone to remind him.
Heat Cataracts
- Foggy eyes and partial vision loss in both eyes because of the explosion. Vision loss isn’t super bad but he does need a good pair of glasses to help.
Huge Sensory Issues
- 13 years in limbo (basically sensory deprivation and isolation) will do that to you.
- Touch averse and very picky with his clothes. He likes his yellow sweater because it feels comfortable against his skin.
- Although not avoiding creeper blasts the loud explosion does bother him greatly, as do most loud noises. It can cause him to be confused and disorganized.
PTSD
Mainly from the war!
Partially Deaf
- Left ear is completely destroyed, he cannot hear out of it. With little hearing loss in his right due to Nov 16th.
- It’s very easy to spook him when approaching him on his left because of his heightened sense of his surroundings and general paranoia.
Philza
Missing one wing and has a brace for the other
- Right wing is completely gone and the left has severe burn damage (also feathers cannot regrow on said wing so what’s gone is gone).
- He cannot feel his left wing at all, which caused him a lot of distress but he slowly got used to it.
- Needs a brace for his left wing so the limp limb doesn’t drag on his back and so the wing doesn’t get dirty (it needs to be cleaned and have ointment applied to it daily).
3rd degree burns on back
- In his attempt to try and shield Wilbur from the blast he has lots of burn damage on his back.
- Similar nerve damage to Tubbo and Wilbur. Can’t feel his back at all.
- Techno needs to help him apply daily ointment and moisturizer to his back.
Walks with a cane!
- I just really like Caneza designs. Also he just needs help with balance walking sometimes due to a missing wing and the other being limp.
Deaf in right ear
- Due to Nov 16th.
Quackity
Crooked jaw and other jaw problems due to his fight with Techno.
- His jaw can lock up and often become stiff
- Chewing and eating can be difficult for him, he often has problems with food dropping from his mouth which caused him to often eat alone
Nerve damage in his face
- Also due to his fight with Techno (getting a pickaxe driven through your face will do that to you).
- Lower half of his right face is droopy due to paralysis, which causes him to have a bit of scowl and slightly slow speech.
Right eye damage and scar (Techno fight)
- Right eye is completely gone, so he often wears an eyepatch or has a replica eye.
- Very long and deep scar from his jaw to eyebrow that runs across his right eye. The muscle is a bit exposed and he has to keep that area clean daily otherwise it itches quite bad.
Hard of Hearing
- Slight hearing loss in both ears because of November 16th and Doomsday
PTSD
- Mainly from war
- Also trauma from his toxic marriage with Schlatt

Backstory
With Westernization coming to Japan as early as begin of the 19th century much of it’s culture would begin to integrate, yet unaware to the demon threat mostly due to the silencing of various governments, it was one fateful night that one of the guardswomen of a village was attacked by nightly creatures.
Suffering from many wounds a narrow escape was made back to the village where she pleaded for assistance in extra arms to fend of the thread, yet at the advent of the demons she had barely escaped, it was her body they would sacrifice as meal to the demons.
In the rage of her blatant betrayal, her will to fight reignited into something more powerful, something that would allow her to defend herself at least to exhaustion. Yet as end truly seemed near, an offer was given.
An offer that would change one life, and would bloodily end many others.
Abilities
Overall Abilities: Despite not being ranked as a Moon among demonkind, having eaten a village full of people, her ability has considerably strengthened, tentatively matching with higher ranked among the Lower Moons.
Immense Speed & Reflexes: Having been trained in combat before becoming a demon, these abilities only strengthen. Improving her (reaction)speed to even greater levels to keep up with multiple (low powered) demons at once and attacking them.

I know that considering (TCW-2008) refs/characters in this episode that it won’t be your fav but can you please share your child development thoughts for S02E05 please??
They may have been stuff I wasn’t fond of but there were so many cute Baby & Dad moments to make up for it!!
First of all, the puppeteers deserves ALL THE AWARDS for bringing Baby Yoda to life! Not just making Baby “come alive” in general, but also that sort-of-awkward way children move when they don’t have complete confidence in their limbs yet. The are doing a phenomenal job this season and I hope they are all safe and healthy and have all the chocolate they want. Not only is it fantastic from a special effects perspective, it really highlights how far Baby has come now that he’s not stuck in a pod all day and implies that Din is trying to keep him active and physically healthy, and giving him opportunities to develop his muscles and muscle control. (Just imagine them playing a makeshift game of chase through the Razor Crest!)
I absolutely loved Din saying “Hey, what did I tell you” because I have said those exact words in that exact tone SO MANY TIMES and also his Dad Voice is getting so much better! Baby actually listens to him and understands that Din expects him to listen! Of course he still wants the ball (and apparently takes it enough that Din has been practicing his Dad voice on that too, “What did I say about that” is another phrase I also use at work).
Though there may have been another reason he wants the ball this time - as a comfort item, like a child bringing their favorite stuffie to the first day of school. Baby was there when the Armorer told Din to find Jedi to bring the Baby to. He has been listening a lot when Din talks about finding Jedi to train him and give him to. I think Baby is very, very aware of the fact that the end goal is to leave him with the Jedi and is very afraid of leaving his beloved father. He would’ve had stable caretaker(s) at the Jedi Temple but in the last twenty years who knows what’s happened to him. His subdued, don’t-draw-attention-to-myself behavior in Season 1 definitely makes me think he’s been neglected, bare minimum, and possibly abused. Din not only treats him kindly but actually takes care of his needs, is kind to him, and is the most stable presence in his life. Of course he’d be terrified to leave him!
I think that’s also why he doesn’t play ball with Ahsoka, so to speak. We all know he can lift a mudhorn, a rock is no problem for him. He could do it in a heartbeat. But I think he understood that if he showed off for her, Ahsoka might take him away. So he refused for that, and because it’s very common at that age to refuse to do something to regain control of a situation. (That’s why you get kids enjoying telling you “No!” and the whole terrible twos thing.) If he refuses, he stays in control of what’s happening. But of course Din knows exactly how to tempt him with his favorite ball, and kids do want to please adults they like. Anything to hear that sweet, sweet positive reinforcement. So it wasn’t just the shiny ball that convinced Baby - it was the fact that Din was the one playing with him, and that Din so enthusiastically tells him good job. (And Din is noticeably more into it when using the orb. Maybe he and Baby have played with it before? So it’s more natural to both of them. And he was truly so proud of his boy!! It was adorable.)
It’s the same with hearing his real name, which he presumably hasn’t heard in twenty years. He responds when Ahsoka says it, but when Din says it? He’s instantly turned around, ears perked all the way up in “happy” mode. It’s special when Din says it, because Din is special to him.
Which then ties into the whole attachment thing. Baby is very healthily attached to Din. There’s a reason we stick kids with the same teacher for a year plus at a time, it’s because kids are comfortable with a regular person they can get to know, just like adults are. To Baby, Ahsoka is just some orange stranger and Din is his dad. Of course he is more attached to Din and has fears over losing him, especially if he’s been deprived of that for the last 20-odd years! It’d be different if Din was sticking around to transition Baby somewhere new, or just dropping him off for lessons. But leaving a parent permanently and abruptly after likely previous trauma? That would be horrible for Baby.
And re: The Jedi + attachments Ahsoka (and Filoni) are wrong on that. The Jedi do not forbid attachments, only letting your attachments rule you. Ki-Adi-Mundi is married and so were others, and there are plenty of Padawan-Master relationships to see - for example, Obi-Wan was attached to Qui-Gon and clearly loved him and was devastated by his loss, but it’s only when he conquers his emotions and calms himself is he able to defeat Maul, and afterward is implied/shown to mourn Qui-Gon and handle his grief in a healthy way. Anakin doesn’t fall because he’s attached to his loved ones. He falls because he’s willing to commit murder and genocide over his attachments. So “I can’t teach Grogu because he’s attached to you” is bullshit. “I can’t teach Grogu because he is attached to you and needs to be safely transitioned into Jedi life in an environment that is comfortable and safe for him, with your help as his adoptive father, and I have no way to do that here and/or don’t feel comfortable doing that” is much more accurate. (This is probably what would’ve happened if the Order was still around, anyway, and/or how he was actually taken in - the 3D TCW episode with the Jedi children shows the bounty hunters tricking the parents to kidnap the kids, implying that a real Jedi would work with the family to transition the children in a safe and healthy manner. The Rodian even says the Jedi have already spoken to her iirc.)
Of course even if Grogu is unhealthily attached to Din (which he isn’t, imo, he behaves like a child at a normal level of attachment to a regular caretaker he loves) then ignoring it and not doing anything about it is equally bad.... as we’ve already seen when he got upset with Cara last season. Baby must learn to control his powers so he doesn’t hurt himself or others, especially since he’s so young he doesn’t always have full control over his own emotions. “Big” emotions can be a lot for a kid; a screaming meltdown is bad enough when the kid can’t yeet you with their mind. I’ve been hit, kicked, bitten, scratched, had toys thrown at me, even been hit with heavy wooden blocks. A Grogu out of control with his emotions and using the Force? Terrifying. Yes, his attachment to Din makes him more vulnerable to his fears and anger - we’ve seen him choke Cara and while he only held back the mudhorn, in theory he could’ve done more. But that is just all the more reason to teach him control. Ignore harmful behavior and it will only get worse, and Din isn’t really equipped to help him navigate that since Din doesn’t understand the Force and can’t understand what Grogu says.
(Also lol at “He doesn’t understand” “He does.” You can 100% tell when kids understand you perfectly and are refusing to do it, even when a parent is making excuses for their darling. xD Especially since kids will frequently act/react differently to their parents versus other caretakers.)
“He’s hidden his abilities to survive over the years” I call partial bullshit on that. No, I don’t think Baby has done any long-term planning or had thoughts along the lines of “I’m being hunted and need to protect myself by pretending not to be a Force-user.” But I think he has probably figured out people react a certain way when he does Force things and perhaps decided “I shouldn’t make things float because then people will grab me/I will get taken away/other consequence I don’t like will happen.” That’s more in line with a toddler’s level of thinking/comprehension. And it adds greater weight to him saving Din from the mudhorn - he didn’t know how Din would react to him using the Force, if Din would try and hurt him or lock him in the pod or whatever, but he still wanted to save Din. Overall though I think Baby’s Force-use is in line with a toddler’s thoughts. “I want X to happen, I can make that happen with the Force, so I will make X happen unless I’m more scared of [consequence] happening.”
So overall a pretty revealing episode for Baby/Grogu. (I’m not used to the new name yet tbh.) Although I’m worried about how many times it will take Din hearing it to realize that yes, you are this baby’s father, get that through your beskar-plated skull.

Genji Heavy Industries (Part 10) No More Sacrifices
I love the MC. I love the MC... I love the MC
No one can stand upright within the realm of Yanling Majesty unless they have permission from the user himself. The person in the field must bear tens or even hundreds of times their normal weight. Blood will break through the skin from below the body and the brain is severely deprived of blood. In an effort to avoid blood loss to the brain, those affected will kneel or bow low to the ground. But even bowing, they may not be able to survive. As the power of Majesty continues to rise, the user can make anyone's bones crack and flatten their bodies to the ground. Although it is called "Majesty", it is not a kingly conquest at all, but rather an overwhelming super-gravity applied to the opponent, slowly and mercilessly crushing him.
This was Chisei’s plan, concentrating the group of deadpool in the center of the hall, forcibly overpowering them with the Majesty, and then setting them on fire. The fires were so hot that they would explode in a few minutes, and the heat and shockwaves would turn the floor into a fire pit. Finally, it was time for the fire to come out. Chu Zihang grabbed the flamethrower from Caesar’s back, and the ten-meter-long flame swept over the oil-soaked deadpool.
Immediately, the blaze rose ten feet high. The deadpool were completely immobilized and could only endure the burning. Pale faces burning, black hair burning, the deadpool group’s wails were deafening. Your headache returns at the noise.
"Quick ...... go!" Chisei Gen turned you by your shoulders and shoved you hard toward the elevator shaft before collapsing in a pool of blood.
You gasp. “Sequelae!”
But before you can go to help him, Chu Zihang has beaten you to it and shoves you again to the elevator. “Go!”
Everything in you rebels! “No!” This was just like when Renata pushed you over the cliff! You’re arms stiffen at your sides and your hands balled into fists. “No!”
Chu Zihang returned his sword to his hip, pounced on Chisei, and pulled him up from the pool of blood to take a look at his face. Zihang was greatly alarmed. Chisei’s heart was frantically beating to maintain his faltering body, and purple-black capillaries emerged from the surface of the skin. It is no wonder Chisei Gen decided to use this super Yanling after so much delay. This Yanling would put a great burden on his body. “Majesty” will drain the entire life force of the user in an instant.
The more high-end Yanling are, the more they burden the body. The mythical "Rhine", once released, will kill the user, who can only survive for a fraction of a second in his own domain.
"Go!" Chisei said again.
Chu Zihang suddenly understood the meaning of Chisei’s words. Once Chisei was too exhausted to support his power, the field of Majesty would also collapse. The deadpool will once again gain the ability to move!
You brandish the claw of the dead female Deadpool and fall on the still wriggling enemy beasts in a frenzy to disable them. But they were already starting to recover! Your face is covered in dried black blood and soot, but your tears are coming so quickly that they make pale tracks on your face. Your face was twisted like a demon’s. You weren’t angry at Chisei or Chu Zihang or even Caesar for the situation. It was these Deadpool who were now trying to make your friends tell you you have to go. You have to live! You have to leave them behind!
You were sick of hearing it and for provoking those words to be uttered, these Deadpool would pay!
Chu Zihang didn't even have to think about it to know that a Deadpool was pouncing on his back. Caesar found it and suppressed it with firepower. He grabbed Chisei and rolled to the ground to dodge as a giant flaming serpent fell from above, a deadly lunge by a Deadpool who had just been freed from the realm of Majesty. Chu Zihang completely ignored the fact that he was now on fire.
Its sharp claws gripped Chisei's calf, and Chu Zihang heard the slight sound of bones twisting. The death servitor’s grip was so strong that it could have left handprints on steel. But then it fell limp.
You’re standing on the Deadpool's back, the claw dagger lodged under its skull. You wrench the claw from its neck bones. “Take the damn sword and help me!”
Chu Zihang suddenly felt an additional thing in his hand, the hilt of Onimaru! At the key moment, Chisei had handed Chu Zihang his alchemy sword! Zihang rolled over and leaped up, swinging the blade into the Deadpool's chest. You leap out of the way, while Chu Zihang finished it off by drawing the last Sten submachine gun firing into its heart point blank.
There were more deadpool rising. Your eyes are a blazing golden terror as you dash through the piles of flaming bodies towards them with the claw dagger. In the dark, you can see the stirring deadpool's eyes opening as the field collapses. Those eyes have become your targets. Your laser pointer.
Channeling the fury of the female deadpool chasing the red dot, you dart from one body to the next, not planning on killing them -- that would take too long -- but severing their spinal cords at the neck. If you were even partially successful, they wouldn’t be able to crawl out in time to escape burning to death. Caesar and Chu Zihang had seen your cold killer’s aura before, but this aura was blazing hot like the sun. Chu Zihang had seen a glimpse of your fighting style before in Chizuru, when you anticipated his attack and cut off his approach to you by splitting the street in half with a wall of heat, all without looking up to confirm he was coming. Then when he fell from the sky, you were again ready, lifting up a piece of concrete to make him dodge and then ruining his landing with an earth tremor.
You were good at shooting and hand to hand combat, but your true power was your ability to predict the moves of the enemy and take advantage of them. With the snake, it was simple. Pinned to the ground, they could only rise up or roll over. Even as they thrashed to get at you, you simply followed their movement, like a homing beacon locked onto the back of their head and, once you’d severed their spinal cord, you moved on to where you were already keeping sight of the next target’s movements. You did all this without pausing. Within seconds, ten deadpool who had been released were suppressed by your knife the moment they started to recover. It only took 4 or 5 seconds for each one.
"Carry this guy to the elevator!" Caesar ran to Chu Zihang's side, the Western Watch firing in quick succession to release a cloud of mercury smoke. “MC! Let’s go!”
You nod and turn to flee. Suddenly you are hit with a blinding pain that makes you cry out. You turn to see the rising body of the deadpool that raked you across the back with its mighty claws. You knew where it had been positioned. It it had been lying there, eyes closed, seemingly already dead or subdued. It was lying alright. It was lying to you. Now its body was already in an S-curve, pulled back into striking position.
The roaring trap-jaw of razor sharp teeth thrusts forward and fills your vision but then it’s sent flying back by a barrage from Caesar! Caesar let’s out a furious snarl as he unloads the last of his machine gun into the monster. The gun smokes and sizzles a second before he realizes he’s out and then he tosses it to the side and runs to you. He picks you up and carries you towards the elevator shaft.
Neither of you say anything as you rush towards the elevator shaft. The eyes of the remaining deadpool are like Will o’ the wisps, dancing in dark patches between the flames.
Chu Zihang carried Chisei on his shoulders and moved towards the elevator. All of you were exhausted, your hearts were beating so violently that it seemed your chests were going to crack.
Then the ground shook. A sturdy death servitor gallops through the mercury fumes created by explosive shells, pulling itself along by its upper body. Its upper body is sturdy like a horse or a bear. Before mutating into a death servitor, it was probably a sturdy man. The dragon blood stimulated its muscle growth. Its shoulders are freakishly bulging. It’s arm span is long like a gorilla's. It has the most amazing snowy white swords in its hands! It picked up two long blades from the ones Chu Zihang had discarded in the fire, and approached in the form of a sword dancing snake god. In known records, there is no shortage of Deadpool using weapons. If they had weapons skills as humans, that memory can be inherited by the Deadpool. But such sophisticated knife skills had never been seen before by anyone in the team. Its snake body is enchantingly twisted, double swords flowing around the body, forming a flawless defense.
Caesar assessed the situation for a moment and set you down. “Go to the elevator.”
“No..No… No…” You couldn’t say anything more. Exhaustion reared its ugly head again and this time combined with blood loss and pain. It was happening again! When would he stop trying to sacrifice himself?
“MC. Look at me.”
You look at him. His eyes were as blue as Renata’s.
But instead of saying live, he said, “I promise I’ll come back.”
“Okay…” You say, but inside you still burned. When he saw your seeming submission to his order, he let you go. But you are done with sacrifices. You weren’t leaving without all of your friends. Your hands tighten around the smooth metal of the laser sight in your pocket.
Caesar was far too busy with his own issues to realize that, for this whole battle, you hadn’t used any of the ammunition that you had loaded onto your belt. You’d spent some shots to free the claw from the Deadpool female and use it as a dagger. You’d fired your gun to escape from the deadpool that trapped you. But after that, you hadn’t fired a single shot.
You swing the laser sight into the eyes of the Deadpool swordsman. The laser light sends excruciating pain through its skull and is too blinding to ignore. He rears back and gives a loud shout. You take off running, raise your pistol and start unloading all the ammunition you had on your person.
“MC!” Caesar yelled.
“Save the romantic fluff for your fiance, lover boy!” You skid to a halt, shining the light into the furious monster’s eyes. You spread out your arms and twitch your fingers in the universal sign of “come at me”
Your back hurt. God, it hurt. You could feel the blood running down and you knew your time was limited. But you would much rather spend your remaining time and energy helping Caesar escape than being a limp doll against the wall.
Caesar pulled out the antique shotgun from behind his back. The length of the barrel is absolutely amazing. It’s longer than you are tall! Where was he hiding that? In a pocket dimension? Your wide eyed stare made the Deadpool turn around, just in time for him to look directly down the barrel of that bad boy.
The shotgun fired as usual with a loud bang. The force of the large caliber bullet was so great that you had to jump out of the way when the snake man was blasted into the fire. Caesar was jolted backwards by the recoil. You run over to him, cackling like the naughty girl you were to help him up.
"What a time to play with knives and be cool." Caesar dropped his antique shotgun and drew his next weapon, an ordinary shot gun. "You're a fucking funny character, aren't you?"
The ground shook again as a huge shadow fell from above. It was a steel beam weighing over a dozen tons that plunged several inches into the floor like a spear of a god, spilling debris in a pile taller than you. The ceiling and walls were cracking. Another aftershock! Zigzagging cracks spread fast on the inner walls, and the laminated steel floor slab could not withstand the earthquake. The intensity of this round of shock waves exceeded 8.0. Flames in all directions, glare, and dust blurred your vision. The wooden statues of Buddha hanging on the walls turned into a blaze of fire and fell, and the black iron shrines were burned red. All of these had been carried from the old shrine of the Hydra family, relics that had been handed down for thousands of years… their lifespan ended today.
You finally reached the elevator door. The shockwave had not only just cracked the floor and walls, but it had broken the steel beam above the elevator door and blocked it.
The only way out was gone. Royal Fire could not destroy the walls of the Genji Heavy Industries building. In a few minutes, the fire of the explosion would sweep through the floor, and you would end up being buried with the deadpool. Your heart sank.
Caesar stood by your side and gave the debris an annoyed kick.
"I never thought I would die by jumping into the oven in the middle of a feast of roasted snakes ......"
"Then the way you planned your death is...?" Chu Zihang pulled out his sword at his waist.
"I was going to have a band and girls in sexy dresses, by a champagne-colored pool, with the sky littered with fireworks, and reporters from all over the world waiting outside my house for Caesar Gattuso's death."
Chisei suddenly stood up bracing against Chu Zihang's shoulders. He limped to one side and tried to press the down button of the freight elevator. The button lit up, the numbers above the elevator doors slowly changed, and the freight elevator was actually working!
This slow-running old elevator actually survived the earthquake!
"So that scum Lu Mingfei is okay too!" Caesar's voice was filled with relief.
“I’m going to tell him you said that.” You mumble weakly.
Chu Zihang cut off a piece of C4 explosive and inserted the fuse after adhering it to the elevator door. He dashed to you, embracing you in a hug and ignoring your cry of pain. With a loud boom, the aluminum door with steel plates embedded inside was blown open. You were trembling but you understood why he shielded you, you weren’t able to escape fast enough.
"Great, but those things seem to want to take the elevator too." Caesar turned his head to look behind him.
The "sizzling" sound of scales on marble tile and the sound of crying babies was approaching, and even Chu Zihang and Chisei Gen could hear it. In the flames and black smoke, a faintly bright snake shadow appeared. Those burning death servitors actually forced themselves to endure the pain of crawling over. Those who had their spines severed still screamed as though they could try to reach you by voice. These deadpool had the ability to sense your location by vibration and you’d just given yourself away. The deadpool who wielded two swords twisted his body enchantingly, looking very much like the snake god Naga of Indian mythology. Its twin swords burned red in the fire, stirring up a large wind. Caesar's large caliber lead bullet did not inflict a fatal wound on it.
"Your blood!" Chu Zihang whispered, "They smell the blood on you!"
Caesar suddenly realized. The deadpool’s thirst for blood and killing was rooted deep in their minds, and they would not let go even in death. Chisei Gen’s blood was the most delicious thing they coveted. Chisei had been wounded in the shoulder before, in the elevator shaft. The strong smell of burning could not hide the smell from them.
"Strip his armor off and throw it into the fire!" Caesar yelled low.
"I'm afraid it's useless. The Deadpool will immediately find out that it's just a piece of armor and continue exploring this way." Chu Zihang quickly dismantled the straps of the armor, the chest and then the shoulders, from Chisei’s body.
"In the Trieste, you were the first out of the cabin. Now leave the rest to me. Call me as soon as the elevator arrives, I'll get out of the fire as soon as possible. Give me cover fire." Chu Zihang is expressionless, never one to shy away from dangerous work.
You try to rise and find that the pain crashing through your body was too much and lower back to the ground.
Chu Zihang watches you struggle with no words.
You huff. “Fine.”
He nodded and unloaded a bullet from the shotgun, cut open the plastic cartridge case, and spilled the gunpowder on Chisei's shoulder. Caesar had already lit his cigar and pressed it hard into the wound. When the flames rose, even Chisei's face spasmed. The pain of burning nerve ends was enough to make the average person faint. The burn temporarily blocked the blood vessels and dried up the blood on the surface of the wound, thus removing the smell of blood from the body of Chisei. Chu Zihang put away the shotgun in the windbreaker, pulled out the sword. He’s not as good as you or Caesar at firearms. He’s far more trustworthy with a blade.
"Hey." Chisei said.
Chu Zihang twisted his head, to catch Onimaru which he tossed to him: "Use this blade to cut through the bones of the deadpool."
Chu Zihang nodded slightly, and did not say thank you. He suddenly sprang into the fire, the hem of his coat flapping like the wings of a great eagle. The swarm of deadpool reacted swiftly, and the sound of snaking went after Chu Zihang.

his full birth name is august ahn-evergreene, his last names being a combination of his maternal and paternal last names because his mother wasn’t going to allow her children to not have her last name in some fashion. however, in his twenties he drops evergreene and only uses ahn as his last name due to a rift with his mother / wanting an identity separate from her ( he’s not fond of his father either but he has a habit of leaving town so it’s easier for august to distance himself from that part of his family’s ‘legacy’ ).

he appears in his late 20s ( 27-30 ) but is around 60 years old due to the extended lifespan of a mage.
HEIGHT.
he stands at 6′1 ( 185.42 ). no, he’s not a sloucher and is the type to internally judge people who do because stand up straight wtf?

170 pounds ( 77.1kg ). he’s lean and not overly muscular; doesn’t do much heavy physical activity anymore due to his current ‘condition’.

OCCUPATION.
he is what the people of crescent creek call ‘the overseer’, the highest sitting member of the council of novema ( or just ‘the council’ for short ). they are the ones who ‘govern’ the town and its people, establishing laws and stepping in to resolve high-level matters between residents if it should come to it. with the council needing to hear matters from the magi, vampires, fae, werewolves, and other beings, august has a constant headache.

his day isn’t complete without having a nice, chilled glass of vintage red wine during dinner ( and maybe just drinking straight from the bottle by the end of the night ). he does enjoy drinking rosé during a nice breakfast or lunch depending on the bottle.

brooding. joking aside, he does enjoy sparring matches, ‘magical’ based sparring matches. he does practice taekkyeon ( korean martial arts ) and enjoys mixing spells in by shocking opponents, blocking their spells with his own wards, etc.
FAVOURITE SCENT.
the smell of freshly cut grass as well as the scent of pomegranates, vanilla, cinnamon, and musk. the former is bittersweet and nostalgic, reminding of his years as a teen: when he was young, oblivious, and only had to be concerned about being late to football / soccer practice. the latter reminds him of someone he would rather forget.
FAVOURITE PERSON.
i. his twin brother, ansel ahn. his death still hurts and he’ll always partially blame himself for it - despite the fact that there would’ve been nothing he could’ve done to change it. ( this is the part where that wand.avision quote is inserted in ). the loss of his brother dramatically changes the course of his life. ii. his lola, nora evergreene. she grounds him a lot. one of the few times he’s at peace is when he visits her for brunch every third saturday of the month. iii. his ex, audrey cramer. he would never admit it out loud though - at least not anymore.
T E N F A C T S —
he’s well versed in magical creatures : one of the 'gifts’ of being the overseer is the ability to traverse pass the veil - a barrier / entry way that exist between ‘earth’ and the many dimensions that exist beyond it. this ability, however, is one that has fallen out of use over the past few decades. ever the abnormally, august makes use of this ability for his own personal agenda. outside of the different races that already live within crescent creek ( witches, vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc. ), there are those that prefer to live freely in their own worlds rather than live in secrecy on earth. so yes, he has met unicorns and he thinks most of them are actually assholes.
on the nature of the veil : the origin of the veil itself is a mystery. all that is known that about its existence is that many millennium ago, those from different dimensions ( or ‘worlds’ ) were able to freely pass through it without the need of assistance or a spell. as time progressed and humanity began to rise, passage through the veil became increasingly more restricted, leading to entry ways within the veil being sealed and only accessible through the leader in each world ( ex. the overseer in crescent creek ). although the town of crescent creek has always traded with other towns, cities, etc. pass the veil, many of those trades have slowed to a stop entirely as those dimensions have become inaccessible. to somewhat ease panic and concern, the council has framed the issue being due to other dimensions permanently closing themselves off from earth ( a situation that has previously happened some worlds ). in truth, the veil itself has become 'infected’ by a foreign spell that’s led to the blocking of entry ways that lead into other worlds. due to not knowing the source of the spell and its affect on the veil, the knowledge of its presence is unknown to most people in crescent creek. // note: this is more of an overall ‘lore’ fact that explains the backdrop of what’s going on in this ‘world’ to understand other facts about him. in the grand scheme of things, this wouldn’t come up when interacting with him.
he doesn’t believe in astrologists, psychics, fortune tellers, etc. : which may seem contradictory considering he’s a literal magical being but in his experience, it’s typically humans pushing pseudoscience or mages using their magic to con clueless humans. people in that line of ‘work’ are hacks to him - especially since he’s seen it first hand with his own father’s profession.
over the past twenty years, he’s been continuing his brother’s research : ansel, his older, twin brother, had been studying the distortions within the veil in secret before his death a decade prior. although the status of the veil was supposed to be concealed to those outside of the council’s reach, ansel confided in his brother before his death. in august’s eyes, whatever spell that’s taken over the veil is an active threat and with the backing of onyx crane, a vampire on the council, and his cousin, faye evergreene, he began an almost obsessive-like determination to complete his brother’s work and find answers - even if it’s to his own detriment. // *note: with a big soap opera trope being people returning from the dead, it shouldn’t be shocking to discover that ansel, is in fact, not actually dead. he used a storm that hit the town as a means to fake his own death ( disasters that kill off characters is usually a soap opera storyline that happens during ‘sweeps’ period ) and left town for his own agenda.
the youngest overseer to sit in the council : his status as the overseer is one steeped in controversy due to...a variety of reasons: an overseer typically is replaced by another council member by vote or an apprentice to the overseer should they have one after an overseer’s death, resignation, or if they’ve been forcefully discharged from the position. none of these things applied to august’s own mother, tala ahn-evergreene, when he usurped her - blackmailing the council by threatening to expose the truth about the current threat of the veil. // *note: in every ( american ) soap opera, it is a staple to have a ‘thing’, whether it be a business, a central institution in town ( ex. a hospital ), or a position ( CEO of a company, chief of staff at a hospital, etc. ) that many of the characters are tied to or even fighting for control over. ELQ, the quartermaine’s family business on general hospital, often have storylines where family members are fighting over shares of the company, who should run it, or the family teaming up to oust an outsider that’s taken over the company ( funnily enough, there is a story like the latter happening on the show right now ). the point here is that being the overseer or even sitting on the council of novema is that ‘thing’ that people fight over to be on for various reason.
he takes his personal upkeep very seriously : there’s a lot of things one could say about crescent creek’s current overseer but no one can ever say they’ve seen august ahn not look put together when he’s out and about ( this is him going out publicly basically ). as someone who values consistency and control in his life but pretty much never has it, august actually highly treasures the time spent doing his morning / nightly skincare routines, getting his acupuncture treatments, and so on. he supports the self care movement essentially.
he ( as well as his siblings ) once witnessed one of his father’s affairs : it was an awful experience. -10/10. doesn’t recommend. this incident shapes his attitude towards relationships in general and how he operates within them. august has a very black and white attitude about relationships: you are either with him 100% or you’re not with him at all. it’s unhealthy and he has to unpack that. // *fun fact: this is actually a real event that happened with this family back in the sims 2 over ten years ago - they just all had different names, were a different race, and so on at that point.. they’ve changed a lot:tm:.
may be an active suspect for murder : it happens. when marlena cramer, a former council member, suddenly passes on, the town is overtaken by a wave of a grief...that soon becomes shock and suspicion when her death is rules to be from unnatural causes. between being one of the last people to see her alive and reports of him wanting her off the council, august becomes one of the prime suspects for her murder case. // *note: whodunit’s are probably up there with ‘who’s the daddy’ storylines in terms of being the most common soap opera staple ( ex. who shot j.r. on dallas ).
voted most likely to be successful in his HS yearbook : august was the picture perfect prom king, the jock that was friends with everyone on campus, and the one everyone expected ride off into the sunset with his hs sweetheart. on paper, august was well rounded - some would say outright perfect. today, those who knew him in high school would shake their heads and ask themselves what happened to the boy who always smiled at them when he passed you by in the hallway or whose laughter could easily be heard the loudest in a classroom. august, as he is now, is a stranger to those that once knew him.
it’s happening gradually but he is, in fact, dying : many of the worlds that had become unaccessible were not only blocked off but were actively decaying - many of its residents fleeing to other worlds before they were forever trapped in a dying one while others locked their entry ways to stop the spell from spreading to their own homes. the overseers in crescent creek were restricted from traversing the veil themselves due to the unknown risk of the spell, a rule that august actively ignores. every time he travels through the veil, the more the spell slowly eats away at him - a fact that he is well aware of and he has no desire to stop. he will keep traveling worlds ( and helping those he can ) until he finds the source of the spell and kills its caster himself.

during a misunderstanding or argument, the worst thing to tell him is that he ‘doesn’t understand’. even if the person is somewhat correct, august is a person that prides himself on being an objective observer of a situation, rational in his thinking, and not someone who lets his emotions dictate his choices. saying something like that to him would just further annoy him.
PERSONALITY TYPES THEY PREFER.
those who are smart, loyal, and efficient. those who are willing to dirty their hands on occasion, and believe that the ends do justify the means.

selfish and incompetent people, those who proceed to waste his time, useless people in positions of powers, jerky unicorns.
WHAT DO YOU FIND DIFFERENT / DISTINCT ABOUT YOUR PORTRAYAL?
the whole concept of this ‘world’ is based around soap opera cliches and tropes so the character is intentionally ‘tropey’ and meant to pull from different fictional men from the genre - as well as outside of it. i would say him being the leading man is unique within itself because people of color in soaps ( at least within american soaps which this is all inspired by ) are generally never the leads or involved in what i actually watch soaps for: the drama, the love stories, the scheming, the cheating, etc. they’re usually the straight men to the white characters; living well off but boring lives and are rarely given front burner stories. all black people in a soap opera are usually always going to somehow know each other, only date each other, etc. you can switch black people out with latinos, asians, etc. and it would still be true. the characters of color are easily written off as a result of this.
in general, soap operas are very white - and still are today. they have a history of casting white people as mexican characters, ex. lindsay hartley as theresa on passions. asian american soap characters are severly lacking - i could probably count the amount of i’ve seen on screen. a black actress formerly on general hospital mentioned how people jokingly called the show ‘generally white hospital’ behind the scenes. chad.wick bos.eman left all my children because of how much of a stereotype his character was - and he was right ( ironically, michael b. jord.an was his recast ). some shows are getting better, bold and beautiful currently has a story involving two characters cheating ( one of which is black ) and it’s hot af but it’s still not enough for the times we’re in. this isn’t a problem exclusive to soaps either - most media has a problem with this. people of color aren’t getting lead roles and especially not romantic lead roles - even if they do, the shows always make it a interracial romance with a white person ( ex. bridg/erton ) as if people of color of different races are incapable of dating each other.
finally, i’ve noticed that you rarely see asian american men portrayed as romantic leads or desirable ( at least in a non-fetishized way ) in western media. that’s pretty lame:tm: so that was also a factor when i revamped audrey’s love interest ( parts of ‘old’ him still exist, ex. him being a jock / king of the school as a teen, a complicated relationship with his brother, etc ). anyway, stan august uwu.

- Mom friend of the group along side of Patton
- Has Waardenburg Syndrome (a illness that is a result of a lack of melanin in certain aspects of a person caused by various reasons, which results in side effects from slight-to-complete hearing loss, poliosis, vitiligo, and heterochromia (really just light blue)
- Dee suffers from all the side-effects aside from poliosis
- Dee is able to read lips and knows ASL for when he doesn’t have his hearing aids
- Pretty laid back, chillest out of all the group
- Older brother figure to Virgil
- Has several pets including Kaa and several other reptiles
- Enjoys being a little shit, immediately got along with Remus when Remus started hanging around Virgil

When "Hope Itself has become Degenerative," Strive Anyway!
Addiction is a degenerative disease characterized by progressive and sometimes irreversible deterioration and partial or total loss of all matter of bodily functions and organs.
Some changes are unchangeable (I'm getting a little choked up here).
Imagine being the sibling, parent or child of someone deep into their addiction. Now imagine wondering if the addict doesn't stop now, they may be on the road to where certain changes to their brain will become permanent. It may be too late already, you think.
You know that the addict or alcoholic is still using because you see with your own eyes that they have been slowly dying. You are glad when they get arrested because you know that when they are behind bars, their disease has also been arrested. It's not living, but it's not dying either. You squeeze a little hope out of this jail cell interruption. This is wearing on you, has been wearing you down for years now. Your hopes are slowly eroding, hoping for the best, but beginning to expect the worst.
Each time, each relapse, each arrest, each drama more like the countless times before. Hope itself has become degenerative.
Unwillingly, you are swept up in your user's addiction too.
You, too, will now need help.
Whether you can feel it yet or not, you are becoming the victim of a victim of addiction. Twice removed from reality you may begin to wonder about those around you. Are they becoming a victim of a victim of a victim? Thrice removed?
Addiction spreads outward from the human pool, infecting the waters.
None will be untouched.
These waters have become dark and silent.
You have long felt that everything you do and/or don't do has somehow become part of the problem.
"You didn't cause it, you can't control it, and you can't cure it."
You'll hear this in an Al-Anon meeting. The 3 C's. Cause, Control, Cure. "You didn't cause it, you can't control it, and you can't cure it."
There are no 100% right or easy answers. Every situation is different. Every person is different.
It is easy to forget that Change is Possible.
"Addiction spreads outward from the human pool, infecting the waters. None will be untouched.
These waters have become dark and silent."
"Hope is still possible," I tell you.
You are reluctant. You've heard it all before, from the addict, from others in recovery, from deep within your own heart (I'm getting a little choked up here).
Change is Possible.
I've seen it before.
I warn you that I've seen people suffer permanent brain damage. Suicide. Complete and utter hopelessness. But I have seen change, too. The possibility of change. The reemergence of hope after the smallest hope seemed nothing less than foolish.
I have seen too, that recovery may miraculously spread outward from the human pool, purifying the waters. All may begin to heal. These waters may become restorative and resilient.
"It is not the most intellectual or the strongest of species that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able to adapt to and adjust best to the changing environment in which it finds itself."- Charles Darwin
These are the waters in which we find ourselves. These are the waters of addiction, and these also are the waters of recovery. Every flick of our fins may move us towards the Beauty of Recovery and away from the Complicit and Degenerative qualities of Addiction.
Swim in the direction of Recovery and away from the progressive, downward pull of Addiction. There are 10,000 ways forward.
Find your way forward because "nothing matters more than that we remain sober because when we remain sober everything matters more."
Recovery is possible, doable, irreplaceable.
Strive.
Strive on.
It is the least, the most and sometimes the only thing that we can do.
Strive on!

Wizard theories
I’ve bopped in and out of the fandom for the past year so I don’t know how much of this has been discussed, but whatever.
So the main plot of Wizards will be Douxie and crew bringing an end to the “real” war for the surface. They will do this with Seklos’ core, or whatever it is that made Gaylen’s core, which is also the source of at least some magic users powers.
The real war being whatever Morgana’s true goals are, whatever caused Merlin to call their fight at Killahead the real battle. Gunmar was looking for something during that fight, you can hear him shouting “Where is it” while he is posed on top of the bridge facing off with Deya.
I’m assuming what he’s talking about is the mysterious power source. Gaylen’s core came from Earth. Aaron Waltke recently said that Morgan’s power is older than she is, and her hand is at least part of the amulets power source.
Aja and Krel speculated that the amulets power source was not Earthly or from Akiridion.
The amulet’s glow pulsed and a heartbeat is heard as Jim wakes Merlin. Merlin is in a magical stasis recovering after depleting his powers. Fialkov and Coranda showed that Akiridion (royal) cores could be recovered in stasis and are powerful enough to power weapons capable of felling a god. Seklos had the four arms of a royal.
I’m assuming from the leaked poster that parts of the series will take place in flashbacks of Douxie during his apprentice days and during the height of the war for the surface. It seems like the most organic way to have massive lore drops and drive home any of the parallels the show wants to draw between the modern day characters and figures in Arthurian legend.
(side note: Arthurian legend is fanfiction written about fanfiction with dozens of interpretations to pick and choose from. The only parallels I have any confidence in is Jim paralleling Galahad, Zoe being Nimue, and Angor might have been Accolon.)
I’m not sure what side Douxie falls on the Merlin vs Morgana war.
He apprenticed for Merlin so he might be on his side, but Merlin has a history of turning his apprentices against him. Classically both Nimue and Morgana were trained by Merlin and turned against him, so there might be camaraderie there. Or he might not like either of them.
He works in GDT Arcane Books next to Nimue’s records but he hasn’t been shown interacting with Zoe so it’s hard to judge their relationship, more on that later.
Whatever side he’s on in this fight he knew it was happening in Arcadia and he came to take part, but he didn’t know enough about the new players to get involved safely.
Then the Eternal Night happened and everyone but Toby, Aaarrrgghh and two changelings skipped town.
But Douxie stuck around town because “the real battle” isn’t over yet, Morgana is only trapped in the shadow realm and will break out eventually. Douxie has been overtaxing his powers trying to keep everything under control until he can find a solution, that’s why a corruption mark is forming on his left hand.
I think the only reason he reached out with Archie, or Archie reached out by himself, at the end of 3Below is that Douxie is burning the candle at both ends and is running out of options.
That’s the end of the solid speculation, the rest is more iffy and less organized.
Three thoughts about why Douxie showed up in Arcadia:
1. He can sense magic and Claire’s ultimate portal forged a connection between her and Morgana allowing Morgana to start taking a foothold in the real world. Either of these events could have set off magic alarm bells.
2. He has some future site and Arcadia has had multiple events worthy of a premonition. Merlin’s future site is an inherited trait from his demonic father that cannot be taught. If Douxie had a demonic bloodline it would be three for three on at least partially inhuman heroes.
3. Someone just told him to come to Arcadia or he’s been there for a while, Ash Dispersal Pattern did open for Papa Skull.
This is more farfetched than the rest. But I think Zoe is Nimue is Seklos, and someone came after her to steal her power like Merlin taking Morgana’s hand. Douxie found out what was happening and either warned her and they both ran, or he managed to recover her core and run with that. They were hunted by either Bular or a Trollhunter.
Seklos depleted all of the power in her core stopping Gaylen and might have only started to recover when she was attacked.
Basically the Lady of the Lake is too powerful a character to be at full power at the start of the show, if her core is damaged and causing power loss or memory loss she would be nerfed until a solution could be found.
Not sure how close Douxie and Zoe are but I think they’ve been sticking together to stay safe. He’s using his magic to keep them hidden and maybe sustain her core if they don’t have the proper equipment.
