“Then honor her.”
I wanna talk about SHIELD Agent Hope Van Dyne
...who joined to honor her mother (the same reason she took Janet’s name), even though her father begged her not to and to work at Pym Tech instead.
...who bonded with Sharon over the weight of legacies and all the whispers behind their backs from those who doubted that their places were rightfully earned.
...who attended the SHIELD Academy alongside Maria, becoming fast friends (and soon, more than friends) and remaining each other’s favorite sparring partner long after.
...who took a long time to trust Natasha (both because of Nat’s past and her own generally standoffish nature), but with time, they became a formidable team on the field and off were known for their dry verbal sparring.
...whose faith in SHIELD was shaken upon meeting Ava Starr and worked in secret to help her, only for their plans to be cut off by what turned out to be Hope’s final mission.

me sitting here patiently waiting for the MCU to give me this team
give me the 6 of them being utterly fucking chaotic together
I NEED IT
this is the Thunderbolts line up I need in the MCU
let me witness the glory of these actors in the same room bouncing off each other
it would be perfection

Valentina: Where is everybody?
Ava: Antonia had a nervous collapse, Yelena is looking after her, Alexei went back to bed, Barnes is trying to kill Walker, and I’m in charge.
Valentina: Oh my god.
Ava: I know, right?

starting off the sideblog, here's what my lineup for the Thunderbolts would be.
First off, a bit about the characters that are getting cut:
Overall, the existing Thunderbolts lineup is very uninteresting in terms of the characters powers, and that's a major reason for all three of the characters I cut, but there's also some more specific reasons.
Bucky: Why is Marvel putting him on this team? Why can't he just be in Cap 4? Being on the thunderbolts really makes no sense for the character at this point.
Taskmaster, Red Guardian: Way too much Black Widow (2021) representation with these three around. I have very little interest in either character, so... Toss them.
This leaves US Agent, Ghost, and Yelena Belova. I feel like all three characters are pretty solid, and while Yelena isn't necessarily bringing much to the team in terms of powers, she makes up with it with personality.
With all that in mind, the four additions to the roster:
Baron Zemo
Is he in this movie or not? I genuinely don't know. I don't think I have to explain this one, he's just a perfect fit.
Trish Walker, AKA Hellcat
Last seen locked up in the Raft, same as Zemo. it's an absolutely perfect setup. In terms of powers, she's got superhuman dexterity and reflexes, minor night vision, and potentially a little bit of super strength. Her getting out of the Raft in Thunderbolts could help set up her eventually reuniting with Jessica Jones in a later project.
Mary Walker
The mercenary for hire with DID last seen in the very underrated Iron Fist Season 2. I am gonna be very disappointed if the MCU never does anything with this character again, and I think Thunderbolts could be a good spot to throw her in. She doesn't have superpowers that we know of, just general mercenary skills. However, last we saw her, she had just discovered that she has a third alter, which could potentially have mutant abilities, if they wanted to go in that direction. Initially I was reluctant to have Mary, since we already have a completely unrelated character with the last name Walker, but then I remembered that US Agent is named John Walker, so at this point I think it's funny if we have a bunch of Walkers.
Mike Peterson AKA Deathlok
This one might be slightly confusing to some. I mean, if I'm saying Bucky isn't a fit, then how would the shockingly similar Mike Peterson be any better? Well, I have a bit of a devious idea for this: what I would do is make it seem like this is a rebooted, more villainous version of Deathlok, but the twist is that he's the same one from Agents of Shield, and Mike is actually spying on the Thunderbolts on behalf of Shield, to try and determine what Val's end goal in creating the Thunderbolts truly is.
