#this turned into a character analysis that almost reads like a fic

Building off of what I wrote in my fic "Sparks," I'm really compelled by the idea of Ford genuinely no longer being interested in sailing around in a boat with Stan by the time they were seniors in high school.
I like the idea of it not being just a symptom of the resentment that had been building between them, nor it being a dream of Ford's that only paled in comparison to west coast tech, but it being a genuine loss of interest on Ford's end. I think it complicates things even further in some really juicy ways.
Like, imagine going through high school slowly losing more and more interest in the dream you've shared with your twin and only friend ever since you were little kids. How do you break it to him? How do you explain it to him without making it sound like a rejection of him? Without it making him hate you?
How do you explain it without it feeling like a spit in the face to all the hard work he's put into a plan that started out as a way of him comforting you by telling you "it doesn't matter what people say about you, you're going to be an adventurer who sails away into the sunset and never has to hear their mockery ever again, and there will be babes and treasure and heroism, and then they'll all see how cool you really are!"
And all through high school you think to yourself, "he's going to move on to more realistic dreams any day now, and then I won't have to say anything about it!" But no matter how many times you mention something else he could do with his life that he seems interested in, or bring up the challenging logistics of traveling around long-term in a boat, he sounds just as committed to the childhood dream as ever, and completely oblivious to how apprehensive you sound.
So resentment grows, little by little. Because that's easier than confronting the soul-crushing levels of guilt that are building up inside of you, every time you don't take an opportunity to tell him you don't want to do the plan anymore. You don't have a single person in your life who modeled how to have difficult conversations for you. As far as you know, having this conversation with Stan would crush him into tiny little pieces and then he would hate you forever, and you can't stand the idea of losing the only friend you've ever had.
So tensions grow. A lack of interest turns into a bitter resentment that, if you were really being honest with yourself, is directed more at yourself than it is at Stan.
And then the falling-out happens, and it seems like you were proven right. Stan hates you now, and he's never going to forgive you for giving up on his dream. But two can play that game, so you try to hate him too. Because if you hate him too, then maybe it won't hurt as much that he never came back. That he never even turned up at school, or by the boat, or in through your bedroom window in the middle of the night. He knows what dad's like, and how he says impulsive exaggerated things when he's angry, and haven't you both dealt with his harsh words countless times before and been able to dust yourselves off and joke about it later? So why isn't he back at home, joking with you about how absurd your dad acted that night, being impossible and belligerent about ruining your dream, but at least now you're even, because you've ruined his dream too.
-
And now imagine you find out he risked the lives of everyone in existence to bring you back, right after you had accepted your fate was to die killing Bill. It would be terrifying and confusing and infuriating. If he cared so much, why didn't he do something to reconnect with you sooner? Why did he ignore you in favor of trying to make it big without you? Why didn't he take the infinitely safer and simpler action of reaching out to you without you having to track down his address and send a desperate plea for help? You were convinced that he didn't care enough to bother with you unless you had an important enough reason for him to come. But even then, he thought your plans were stupid. He didn't want anything to do with you, not even with the world at stake.
Did he save your life out of guilt? Does he pity you that much? It doesn't add up with what he did in the decade leading up to shoving you into the portal. And the dissonance between the version of him in your head that hates you, and the man who held out his arms to welcome you back to your home dimension, is so strong that you feel like you're being lied to again, like you're back in the depths of gaslighting and manipulation that Bill put you through, even though there's no way that's what Stan is trying to do... right? You can't figure it out, so you run away from it. You don't want to know the answer to whether or not Stan hates you, because you don't know which answer would hurt more, so you try to make him hate you more than ever, because at least then you would know for sure how he feels.
And in the end, after he sacrifices his memories for you, and for the world, things seem clearer. The layers upon layers of confusion and anger and hurt seem to have washed away like drawings in the sand, leaving behind the simple truth: that you two had an argument, and didn't move past it for forty years, and despite everything you put each other through, you both still want to re-connect.
So you sail away in a boat together.
And at first, it's wonderful. It's exactly what you want. It feels like an apology to Stan, and a thank-you for saving the world, and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to heal the rift between you two, and it's good to be back on earth, and you wonder why you ever doubted the dream you two once had.
But then, after the first long journey you spend on the sea together, when you get back home to dry land, Stan is already talking about planning your next adventure out on the open sea. He recaps every adventure you had on the first trip, over and over again, and he wants to chat with you all through the morning and long into the night, and you don't have the words to explain to yourself that you don't have enough social battery for this, and suddenly you're slipping back into the horrifyingly familiar feeling of Stan being overbearing and needing space from him and how could you think that? How could you think that about him after everything he's done for you and everything he's forgiven you for? But the longer this goes on, the more you realize that you still don't want to spend the rest of your life sailing around with Stan. It's great fun in moderation, but the idea of your whole life revolving around Stan and going on adventures with Stan and being in a boat with Stan with no time to be by yourself thinking about your own things and figuring out your own dreams makes your skin crawl with a claustrophobic kind of panic that you still don't know how to put into words forty years after the first time this feeling grabbed you by the throat and ruined your friendship with Stanley.
But the first time this happened, it nearly ruined his life forever. You can't let yourself feel this. You don't feel this. You're happy to spend the rest of your life fulfilling Stan's lifelong dream, and making up for the time you crushed his dream, and sure, maybe he crushed your dream once too, and maybe it would be nice for him to support your dreams like you're now doing for him, but you can't say that. He saved the universe, and it would be horrible and ungrateful and cruel for you to try to voice these feelings, especially when you don't know how to voice your feelings without it making other people feel like you twisted a knife into their gut. So you try to pretend the feeling isn't there.
You go out on a boat with Stan again. You planned out another incredible journey together, and this should be fun, and you should be happy about this, but the unspoken feeling you shoved as far down in yourself as it could possibly go is eating you alive. The worst part? Stan is starting to notice. You have never been good at hiding your emotions. The trick to it has always been to convince yourself you don't feel it at all, and not think about it, and that has always worked like a charm. But whenever the emotion claws its way back up to the forefront of your mind, you can tell Stan knows something is wrong. So you can't even give him the happy ending he deserves. You can't even convince him that you want to be here on the open seas forever with him, like he deserves. And you keep trying and trying to hide it, but Stan keeps asking in roundabout ways, like "You're being awfully quiet, sixer," and "whats that look on your face?" and eventually it comes exploding out of you like a shaken-up soda bottle dropped on its cap.
And then it's like you're back at home in New Jersey again, standing in the living room while dad grabs Stanley by the shirt. It all comes pouring out of you, in the worst possible way, with the worst possible phrasing, like a pandora's box of monstrousness, and Stan tries to fight back against the sting of your words, but you're made out of acid and you're burning through him and you can see it on his face, and there's never any coming back from this, not this time, you'll just have to either jump into the ocean or become a monster forever, so Stan can hate you more easily again, and-
-and at the end of the outburst, you're still on a boat in the middle of nowhere in the ocean with your brother, in dangerous waters, and you have things to do to keep the boat running smoothly.
You can't run away from him. He can't run away from you. You're stuck here for at least a couple more weeks, even if you turned around and sailed back towards shore right away.
-
And the thing that compels me so much here, despite how unbelievably angsty it all is, is that it sets up a situation wherein the Stans might end up forced to actually address the decades of resentment and confusion and wanting-to-reconnect-throughout-it-all that they thought they could gloss over and heal with enough time spent adventuring together on a boat. They might end up forced to actually address the crux of the issue that drove them apart in the first place: Ford wanting a little more space to feel like his own person, and to feel like he's able to have his own dreams, too.
It wouldn't happen easily, nor right away, but if they were stuck together on a little boat in the middle of nowhere surrounded by magical creatures they have to protect each other from in order to make it back home alive, then after they had one fight where they brought up all the things they silently agreed to never bring up again, it would probably happen many more times, and each time it would leave them both angrier at each other than ever, until eventually something honest slipped through amidst all the saying-anything-except-what-they-mean bickering. And once enough of these honest moments slipped through, then they would have a thread to tug on to start to unravel the gargantuan knot of their decades of unresolved conflicts.
And then, eventually, maybe Stan could learn that he can have a good friendship with his brother without needing to be glued to him at the hip, and Ford needing a certain amount of alone time doesn't mean he dislikes him or wants to abandon him, and Ford could learn that he can be honest and have a meaningful connection with someone without it driving them away and making them hate him.
#succumbed to the stan twins angst visions and wrote 2000 words about this#ford pines#ford meta#this turned into a character analysis that almost reads like a fic#godswriting#<- i need to change my writing tag to this#something bothers me a little bit about the solution to their conflict being 'ford appreciates stan more now so he is now fine with-#-boat adventures with stan'. to me it leaves the initial conflict of 'he doesnt want to do that anymore' unresolved#obviously you could easily argue that ford never stopped wanting to go on boat adventures with stan and he just couldnt justify it to-#-himself when compared to the opportunity at west coast tech. but that has one less layer of conflict#compared to the possibility that he truly was not interested in boat adventures anymore. ESPECIALLY if its a manifestation of him#feeling suffocated by the whole dynamic-twins-duo thing#its normal to start wanting a little bit more space especially at that age. to want to have space to figure out who you are#the healthy thing would have been them talking about it and figuring out a compromise. like 'when ford needs space he can spend a few hours#-alone without stan being worried the whole time that it means ford hates him' and 'we still spend x amount of time working on the boat and#-we still chat on the way to and from school every day and hang out at the beach on weekends'#like of fucking course it was never about hating stan or about wanting to get away from him because of who he is as a person!#he literally just wanted to have a little bit of breathing room to be his own separate person. he just didn't know how to put it into words#I really think the crux of it all was them not knowing how to navigate that balance between independence and identity while staying close#so ford misattributing/reducing that feeling to 'I dont have the exact same dream as stan anymore. why does he still have that dream. oh no#feels like a good way of giving that conflict a tangible aspect to it thats easy for the stans to point at and talk about as a way of-#-alluding to the REAL core of the conflict between them.#and of course the show never says 'they sail around the world for the rest of their lives 24/7' so it's not like it Actually Conflicts with#-my interpretation of the conflict and how it should be resolved. but since its the last thing we see happen between them when theyre given#their happy ending. I feel compelled to say 'hey I know them living in the shack together and traveling in a boat every single year sounds-#-really fun and like a satisfying ending but I think they should have a Little Bit more space from eachother than that. Hanging out almost-#-daily but not literally being in the same house and same boat for the rest of their lives. bc if stan was ok with ford asking for that-#-little bit of space and if ford didnt panic and isolate himself from everyone whenever he needs like one hour of alone time? that would-#-feel like a big piece of the puzzle fitting into place for their conflict resolution and growth as characters. to me#and I think they deserve to have all the tied-up-loose-ends and resolved-conflicts and character-growth in the world.

I want to say that ‘The Vows’ couple are my favourite. I keep reading it again and again. There is nothing better than this. I love them so much. Whenever I see any part of it on my dashboard I read it again along with some other parts. I just love it so much. The reader’s character of being bratty, misunderstood, and not evil is so perfectly balanced. And Yoongi accepts her not just tolerates her, this is my fav part of this fic. He is so much in love with her. And even though she makes him really mad he still loves her the same.
OH MY!!! 😭Thank you so much, this analysis is spot on and exactly why I love writing them and I am so so happy that you're enjoying them.
Here’s another little drabble for you because Min Yoongi has been wrecking me today.
Pairing: Vows! Yoongi x reader
Warnings: Sex, swearing, Seokjin
By now, you're pretty good at recognising when your husband is genuinely angry. He's often difficult to read, but you've been making an effort lately, and you're starting to recognise his tells.
When his mouth is in a straight line and his brow's slightly furrowed, he's bemused. It's the expression he had when you hid all his left shoes.
When his brows are drawn together and his mouth opens slightly, he's irritated. He gets like this sometimes when you and Seokjin are arguing.
When his expression goes completely blank, you look at his hands. When his hands are like they are now, loosely clenched, and he looks at you with heat in his gaze, he's angry. It doesn't happen often, but you're quite sure, that on this occasion, Yoongi is angry.
Scratch that. He looks pretty fucking mad.
You think frantically about all the things you've done lately, trying to remember if you've done anything especially provoking.
He’s looking straight at you across the room, and you can feel his eyes burning into you.
What have you done this time?
Your husband's still staring at you, and if he didn't look so damn irresistible in the sharp black suit he's wearing, you'd already be running.
His gaze flicks down over your body, blatantly looking you over in a way that's unusual for him.
Ahhhh fuck.
You stole his suit.
The last time Yoongi and you had to attend a public event together, you went all out. You'd picked up a vintage gown, had it altered to fit you like a second skin, had spent hours being primped and preened just so you could turn up on his arm looking like the most perfect version of you money could buy.
Yoongi had barely blinked. In fact, he'd grumbled something about you making him late to the event.
And so today, when you'd walked past the suit laid out for him in his wardrobe area on the way to the shower, an idea of immense brilliance had flashed into your mind.
You'd reached out, plucked the hanger off the rack, and marched to your room with it clutched in your hand.
You'd sent him some excuse about working late and had told him you'd meet him at the hotel, and then you'd put on his suit.
Crisp white shirt, a jacket with a subtle pinstripe, and a black tie that you'd had to ask Mrs Gye to help you tie. You'd forgone the suit trousers entirely, and the jacket on you is long enough to cover your ass.
Just about.
The piece de resistance though? The platinum collar bar connecting both ends of the collar, tucked under your tie.
You're not entirely sure how you're going to get it off without help, especially since the look on Yoongi's face makes it seem like he's unlikely to want to help you right now.
You like the suit he has on though, now that you can see it more clearly. It's almost identical to the one you have on.
Trust your husband to have a backup suit on standby.
He even has a collar bar like yours, and damn he looks so sexy you want to jump his bones.
Belatedly, you realise the reason you can see all the detail on his suit is that he's much closer than he was when you last checked.
Shit. He's heading straight towards you, face like thunder.
You squeak and back away, straight into the hard chest of Kim Seokjin.
Seokjin sighs wearily.
'At least tell me what panties you're wearing so I have something to jerk off to later,' he says.
'I'll give them to you if you help me get away,' you say quickly, seeing an opportunity.
'You're not going anywhere,' Yoongi says. His hand closes on your arm like a vice.
***
Yoongi’s driving, one hand curled loosely on the wheel, the other on the centre console of his car, close to your bare thigh.
‘Nice suit,’ he says, the first words he’s spoken to you since you left the event.
You smooth the wool over your thigh. ‘Thank you, it’s Valentino.’
Yoongi looks at you like he can’t quite believe your audacity.
‘It looks like the suit I was meant to wear tonight.’
‘Yeah?’ you ask, all innocence.
‘I didn’t know you could tie a tie that well, I should ask for your help next time.’
‘Mrs Gye helped,’ you offer nonchalantly.
‘Where are the pants?’ Yoongi asks. He glances in the rearview mirror, signals to turn.
‘They didn’t fit,’ you say, shrugging.
‘Because they were measured specifically for me,’ Yoongi points out.
You give him a sidelong look.
‘You don’t like me in womenswear or menswear it seems,’ you mutter.
Because you’re watching, you see Yoongi flick his eyes to you.
‘I like you in everything,’ he counters. There’s a pause before he says, ‘and nothing.’
He slows the car, and you look around curiously at the darkness around you.
Yoongi pulls to a complete stop.
‘Why did you steal my suit to wear tonight?’
You don’t have an answer, but Yoongi doesn’t seem to be waiting for one.
‘Is it because I don’t buy you enough beautiful clothes?’ he muses.
‘I buy my own clothes,’ you point out, defiant.
‘Is it because it wasn’t enough for you that I came so hard when you were wearing that ridiculous dress at the last event, I passed out?’
‘You liked that dress?’ you ask, inordinately pleased.
Yoongi glowers at you.
‘If you didn’t act like such a brat all the time, I’d compliment you more,’ he growls.
You raise an eyebrow. ‘You like it when I’m a brat, Yoongi.’
He doesn’t deny it. Instead he looks out the window.
‘How many times do I have to come inside you before you realise how stunning I think you are?’
He turns back to you.
‘Jagiya, I will always think you are beautiful.’
There’s no heat in his voice now, the words come out with a quiet simplicity that rings with honesty.
You’re still processing when he continues, ‘and I will always think you look irresistible in my clothes.’
‘Are you angry with me?’
‘For stealing my suit and leaving me to have a replacement delivered at short notice?’
You turn to him.
‘I’m not angry,’ he tells you. ‘But if I were, how would you make it up to me?’
You bite your lip, then slide your seat back.
‘May I kiss you, Yoongi?’
He’s staring at your lips. ‘Yes.’
You slip your hand down his chest, past his belt buckle, down to his lap.
‘Here?’ you ask, hand over his lap.
‘Fuck, jagiya, please,’ he breathes.
You lean over and undo his pants, slide his half-erect dick out.
Yoongi reaches out, wraps a hand around your (his) tie, loosely.
‘Hey,’ he says, just as your lips touch his cock.
‘Mmm?’
‘Tap me if I’m holding too tight, ok?’
He waits until you nod before he leans back in his seat. His perfectly coiffed hair flicks forward as the back of his head meets the headrest, and his thighs spread as you lick along his cock.
He’s quiet as you suck him to full erection, the only clues you have that he’s enjoying it are the erraticness of his breathing and the way he’s twitching over your tongue.
‘Fuck,’ he groans, fist tightening in your tie, tugging you down.
It’s making the tie tighten around your neck, but you like how it feels.
‘Fu— uh—- uk,’ he groans again, stuttering as you hollow your cheeks and take him all in, the head of his cock nudging the back of your throat.
You swallow, and he slams a hand against the car window.
You reach under, cup his balls, and his hips jerk against your face.
He’s holding you so tight, filling your mouth with his cock so well you can barely breathe.
‘Gonna cum,’ he warns, ‘fuck, I’m gonna —-‘
He doesn’t finish his sentence, moaning long and deep as he shoots his release down your throat.
The tie tightens again, and then he lets go.
‘Jagi, are you ok?’
He’s tipping your chin up to see your face, and the concern in his expression makes you feel warm.
‘I’m ok, oppa.’
He pulls you up to kiss him.
‘Don’t ‘oppa’ me, brat.’
He’s undoing your tie deftly, unthreading the collar bar so he can unbutton your shirt.
‘Let me see,’ he grunts, unbuttoning your shirt rapidly, pulling the plackets apart to expose your lack of bra, the thin, sheer panties you slipped on.
He presses his thumb over your wetness, places his other hand over your exposed front.
‘What do you want, my love?’ he asks. He slides two fingers under your panties, tugs. ‘Want me to kiss you here?’
His knuckles nudge against your core, and he groans. ‘You’re wet, you like sucking my cock, don’t you, jagiya?’
His fingers slip inside you, stretching, scissoring, his movements fast and insistent.
‘Yoongi,’ you cry, and he laughs, thumb rocking back and forth over your clit, making you buck against his hand.
'You're so easy to please, my love,' he taunts.
A lock of hair's fallen over his forehead now, and he looks so good you could cry.
Yoongi cups your breast, squeezes. 'Your little pussy's so fucking tight, I can barely move my hand,' he tells you. 'Gonna come for me?'
You cry his name as your pleasure crests and you press your face into his neck.
Yoongi leaves his fingers inside you but wraps his other arm around you, pulling you into his chest.
The cool metal of his collar bar digs into your cheek.
'I'm gonna help you get re-dressed, ok, baby?' he says, voice low, rumbling in his chest.
'Then I'm going to take you home and we're going to do this again.'

Opps this post got forgotten! But if I don't post it today when will I!?
Okay so, I've been thinking for awhile on the question: why do I like terumob and why did it take over my brain? What is it about it...what caught my interest. As someone who was very NOT into ships when i first got into mp100, why did I crashland into this one?
This post has been in progress for like....weeks now? Nearly a month? 3 months? Yea.
Okay so. Here we go. THOUGHTS! On terumob and why the fuck I like it. Below the cut.
Like I mentioned, when I first finished Mob Psycho 100 in June of this year I wasn't into any ship. I was actually REALLY NOT into ships. I really liked gen. I wanted to explore the characters and I loved the complex relationships between everyone but I didn't want it to be overshadowed by romance. I purposely steered clear of any and all ship art.
But then I started to see some TeruMob fanart and I was like "Aw man, they are so cute and squishy." And I started to like them....just a lil bit. ONLY A LITTLE BIT.
BUT then I read more Teru-centric fics, read Teru analysis' and then I was like. Oh shit, Teru is 100% so into Mob it's like....this kid has it bad. He has a major crush. And even on the rewatch I am like WOW yep, confirmed in my brain, Teru has it bad. The subtext of his pinning is JUST so there for me. I didn't even have to look hard for it. I suddenly was very in on the Teru-one-sidded part of the ship.
But here's the thing, I'm not a big fan of ships like that... feels too unrequited. Hard for me to really like it. I need to have some level of something from both sides. Just how I am.
So that still leaves the question.
When and how does Shiego liking Teru work? Is there any subtext for that or am I just making it all up because I want the ship to work for me?
(which also is fine ya'll, no judgement if you ship two characters that barely interact, thats the fun of fandom stuff!)
I mean, all things considered, Shigeo likes Tsubomi. Scratch that, he REALLY likes Tsubomi. Shiego loves very strongly, like all his emotions. And he definitely likes Teru, they are good friends, so I kept thinking: where and how does that cross into a crush to me, for these characters?
Teru cares a lot, he adores Shigeo—Shigeo is kind, he is powerful, he is everything Teru wants to be. But are there places where I see this same level of intensity from Shigeo?
Annnnnnnnd then I got to their fight in season 3.
Tumblr media
Everything Shiego did to Teru was so pointed. So raw and angry. Like I said, I think Shigeo feels his feelings very strongly and, I don't know, just the fact that he PERSUED Teru to humiliate him EXACTLY in the same way again, tells me that their first meeting had an intense impact on him. We don't see a lot of his feelings on his meeting with Teru, besides the brief ??? in that episode. After meeting Teru, it's just...life goes on as normal for them. But deep down I don't think Shigeo ever really tackled his complex feelings about Teru and their first meeting.
So it all comes out, its all be stewing for AGES, and what comes out is mean. It's aggressive. It's almost sarcastic? It's what happens when we let things chew us up inside and comes out all twisted.
Teru evoked such a strong reaction from Shigeo, even if Shigeo didn't admit it or express it, that I can't help but think, after things have settled, after he has spent more time adjusting to his whole self...after they both take time to really examine themselves and grow....
....that Shigeo wouldn't develop stronger feelings for this boy who also turned his world upside down. Who made him feel such strong emotions, who changed his world too.
Teru was forever changed by meeting another esper his age.
I think Shiego was too.
And I think where I started to love them was after the finale, after Teru's acceptance of Shiego for who he was.
Tumblr media
I don't want to pigeonhole any of the espers into only being able to date other espers. But I also....yes, Shiego is a normal kid, but he is also Shiego.
Teru is a person who understands the strength it takes to keep that power, who has seen Shiego at all sides. His best and his worst.
But gosh this scene....
Tumblr media
OUGHGGH
Tumblr media
JUST THROW ME IN A RIVER WHY DON"T YOU
Tumblr media
Yeah this whole scene just.....just yea. OUGH.
But yeah I just feel like Teru's crush would only grow after that. He would see Shigeo as a person over an all powerful esper.
While I like to think Shigeo's would develop over time and them smack into him like a runaway freight train. Because Shigeo FEELS so strongly, for all his emotions. He feels sadness strongly, he feels love strongly, he feels anger strongly—he just feels everything SO strongly. That is why he is powerful, that is why he is who he is, that is why ??? became what it is.
Anyway. My thoughts have ended and that's all i got. Thanks for coming to my ted talk of rambling mess that has been in progress for months that I realized whelp with the anniversary of the end of S3 nearly here, mind as well post it.

Part 1
Tumblr media
Soooo!!! Last nights South Park was everything I wanted but didn't know I needed!!! Kenny with his hood I mean,,, I am deceased. I'm having some serious writer's block, so please feel free to send me requests, HCs too!! I wanna get to know you all, and thanks for all the love on my previous fics. I normally hate my writing so knowing you guys like it is amazing!! This fic contains string language, angst, toxic thinking, obsession and sexual themes. ALL CHARACTERS ARE AGED UP!! If you guys like this fic I can write more parts!! Loosely based on the Netflix show YOU!!!
Kenny hasn't been with another girl since the last time, and that was not something he wanted to repeat. That was until his eye was caught by you, and he couldn't tear his eyes away.
You were new here, family just moved to town and you had transferred to South Park High, and he was determined to know more about you.
It's not an obsession, he isn't obsessed, is he? So far he knew your name was y/n, you had moved here from the UK, so quite a far away from home, you were shy, trying your best to fit in, you were alternative in how you dressed, Kenny has already touched himself thinking about you, and he swore it was the best wank he'd ever had! It was clear to him that you were thirsty for that kind of attention, blushing as other boys talked and flirted with you, and his blood boiled, you would be his, who the fuck did these other guys think they were? How dare they even look at you in that way!
Although he didn't blame them, those short skirts, tight tops with too much cleavage and today was the day that Kenny's resolve broke, he could no longer watch from the sidelines, you were wearing the shortest shorts he'd ever seen with knee high socks and a lace bralette, no bra! God he was going insane. You had a flannel shirt tied loosely around your waist and Doc Martin boots on, and god you had tattoos! He swore you were so angelic looking it was sinful, and he knew he had to talk to you, before someone else could shoot their shot. You would be his. He was damned sure of it.
One problem though, how to approach you without creeping you out? You didn't know him, but he knew you, you were both meant for each other, you just didn't know it yet, but how to catch your attention. He'd have to think, and fast.
That was before his perverse thoughts were interrupted by the harsh ringing of the bell.
"Fuck." He muttered under his breath, slamming his locker in annoyance before making his way to English class, plopping down on his seat, lost in his own thoughts as the rest of the class filtered into the room.
He was once again distracted from his thoughts about you by the scent of your perfume, his head rising as you both met each others gaze, you smiled at him, as he gave you a gapped tooth smile back.
Trust the teacher to ruin his shot!
"Quiet class! I have a lot planned for todays lesson so let's cut to the chase, I have paired you all up for group work, you will be working in pairs! This is an analysis of the prose we have been reading, and I expect a presentation and a written essay that both of you must present to the class next week."
She turned her back, writing on the chalk board who was paired together, and Kenny swore his heart skipped a beat when he noticed he was paired with you. He's never wanted to fist bump the air so much in all his life, but he didn't want you to notice him geeking out over you.
"Please sit next to your partner and get started straight away!" You teacher said to the class, and you moved your seat beside Kenny's, you both sharing a desk.
"Hey, I'm y/n, I'm new here from the UK so sorry if some of what I say doesn't make sense, our slang is hard to forget." You laughed, and Kenny nodded.
"Most people can't understand me either." He mumbled, his hood up. Let her see your face, idiot! His brain almost screamed at him as he unzipped his coat, taking his hood down, and it didn't go unnoticed by his friends. They knew he was hot on your tail, and what Kenny wants, he gets.
Your mouth was wide as you studied your partners face, a blush on your cheeks. He was hot, his fluffy blonde hair sitting messily atop his head, his pale skin and subtle freckles and that adorable little gappy smile. Fuck! You'd only moved a week ago and already you were crushing on someone.
"I'm Kenny. We can meet at the park after school and work on our project if you're up for up it?" He offered, you would definitely be turned off if you seen how his family were and what his home was like, and he was not losing you because of his parents and their usual neglectful bullshit.
"Or you could swing by my house? I'll get us coffee and order some pizza?" You offered, twiddling your pen between your thumb and forefinger, trying to avoid direct eye contact out of fear of blushing in front of him.
"That sounds a million times better, thanks." Kenny replied, a small smile on his face, he took this opportunity to sneak a quick look at your cleavage, and he swore he could make out the shape of your hard nipples through your bralette, and were those piercings?! Fuck, what were you doing to him? Don't get hard, Jesus Christ don't get hard!
"Can I have your number? So I can send you my address?" You asked, offering him your phone to punch his number into.
And he gladly accepted, typing his number on to your phone, and while you were distracted talking to Wendy he quickly installed a tracking app on your phone, just so he could know where you were at all times, to keep you safe of course.
"There you go." Kenny replied, holding your phone out to you as you took it from him, smiling at him.
"So... tell me a little about you, Kenny?" His eyebrow quirked at your sudden question. Were you wanting to find out more about him because you were partnered with him and just being friendly? Or did you ask because you were interested in getting to know him, because he wanted to know everything there was to know about you.
"I'm eighteen, I've lived in South Park for my whole life, and I've always been known of the poorest kid of the school, thanks to Eric over there." He said, nodding his head in the direction we're the older boy sat, you could hear him laughing at his own jokes, he seemed like an ass.
"I have a brother and a younger sister, Kevin and Karen. Just a warning though, people here love to gossip, so if anyone is bothering you, let me know." Kenny said kindly, his eyes not tearing from you once, it was as if you two were the only people in the room, god how was he going to control himself when he was in your bedroom, just you two.
"So tell me a little about yourself, y/n." Kenny inquired, and he was genuinely interested, soul mates needed to know all there was about each other, and he was determined to know you, he just hoped that you'd let him.
"Um... I'm eighteen too, I'm an only child, live with my mother, but she has some... problems, y'know?" You said, and Kenny knew exactly what you meant, his parents were the crème de la crème of drug and alcohol addicts, so he knew fine and well what she meant. Maybe they moved here for a new start.
"You smoke?" He asked curiously.
"Yeah, you smoke weed?" You asked back, a small smirk on your face.
"Fuck yeah, I've dabbled with a lot of drugs, I mean, I've been exposed to them all my life." Kenny said, his eyes staring at his table, then back to you.
"I'll buy pizza and get us coffees if you bring the weed, deal?" You asked, putting your hand out to the blonde boy in front of you.
"Deal!" Kenny said, a smirk on his own face as the bell rang for the end of class.
You began packing up your things off your table and into your bag and as you bent down to grab your pen that had fallen on the floor, Kenny thought his eyes had popped fully out of his head. He stared at your ass and your thick thighs and my god how he wanted his head between them.
When you stood back up you finished packing and turned to see Kenny was waiting on you.
"If you wanna grab lunch together you can come with with me?" He asked, a small smile on his face, and boy did he hope that you said yes.
"That sounds lovely. Thanks, Kenny." You replied, throwing your back pack over your shoulder and beginning to walk out of the classroom with Kenny.
You could feel the eyes of other girls burning into the back of you as you both walked down the corridor, chatting together and making jokes as you both erupted into laughter.
Even though he was fully fixated on what you were talking about, Kenny was dazed, he was deep in thought, and it was all about you. About how your shirts hugged that perfectly round ass, how sensitive your nipples would be, what piercings would adorn them, did you have any tattoos that he couldn't see? His mind swirled.
As you both entered the cafeteria, he smiled and waved at his friends, before leading you over to introduce you.
"Guys, this is y/n m, she's new here. Y/n this is Eric, Kyle, Stan, Jimmy, Craig and Tweek." He said, pointing to each individual as he said their names, and you smiled.
"Hey guys, hopefully we can all be friends." You said, taking a seat between Kenny and Kyle.
"Kenny, how did you manage to get this pretty girl to befriend you?" Stan blurred outright, his cheeks going red as he averted both of your gazes.
"Um, we got partnered up together in English and it looks like we have a lot in common, and Kenny seems really nice." You said as the rest of the group nodded as if in sync.
"That makes sense." Kyle said to no one in particular and Kenny was in his own world again. You thought he was nice? He was making a good start, now he had to get you to fall in love with him, and he was pretty sure he knew how.
The rest of the day was pretty much standard procedure as far as Kenny was concerned, you had texted him, telling him to come over at 7pm.
So he had some free time on his hands. And he knew exactly what to do with it.

Rhaenys and Corlys anon back because I did not expected for my take to be so openly accepted. Thank you all for that!
I am going to say something that I think the majority of this fandom is afraid to voice out. I would honestly have made my very own post, but I am afraid of being attacked, so I decided on this ask instead.
A very big part — if not the basis — of the strange insistence that Daemon did not loved Rhaenyra but must have loved Laena is rooted in body shaming. Since Laena is described as slender, and Rhaenyra recorded as gaining weight after her pregnancies, people are not only unable to imagine a man genuinely loving a woman that does not fit their ideal standard of skinny, but they also see that rumoured change of her appearance as a reflection of her morals, even as a punishment.
(I say 'rumoured', because look at the official art or at the animated version of the Dance — Rhaenyra's waist is not slender, and while obviously voluptuous, she is not fat and she still looks absolutely gorgeous even after her pregnancies. So it was obviously an exaggeration by the maesters.)
Again I make a parallel with history — we are talking about an age where beauty of person equated beauty of character, and any slight deffect signified sin/unworthiness/bad morals. An age where, for example, blonde hair in a queen was ideal because it signified virginity, purity and it was associated with Virgin Mary. Rhaenyra's appearance being attacked is nothing else but mysoginistic propaganda.
(See how it is implied that men would not fight for her because her body changed after six pregnancies. Obviously that is a lie, since we know how many men raised at arms and supported her, and not even one of them made any remarks regarding her appearance.)
I have read a fanfiction centered on Laena and Daemon in which the very first remark made about Rhaenyra when she first appears is how she gained weight and therefore Daemon does not find her attractive at all. It's disgusting, demeaning, and screams internalized mysoginy. But women of this fandom are not ready for this conversation because they are far too busy self-inserting in their Laena and Nettles fantasies. That is why in these type of fics Rhaenyra is made to compare herself with them, to make her seem unworthy and undervalued, when that was never the case at all.
And not only that, but with Laena he is marrying a maiden, whereas with Rhaenyra he is marrying a mother of three. So if for some people that represents a turn-off, something that makes her less desirable, then they go and project their own distaste unto Daemon, claiming that he must have found her (and by extension her children) a burden as well. Even though the text gives us no proof about this, but every proof to the contrary.
It's a sensitive topic I would like to expand further because the way Rhaenyra's appearance is approached and discussed in this fandom is very sad, without any critical analysis or consideration. Basically, this is just to point out some things in the way I see them.
Hi there Queen (and sorry for this huge delay) ❤️
I have almost nothing else to add except a small observation on this "but with Laena he is marrying a maiden" -> I think this is something that they conclude because of everything you have said before. Because it goes with their idealised version of the "skinny, love worthy woman" and purity is another trait they had.
Laena was almost 23 at the time she married Daemon, and had been betrothed to another man for 10 years. A decade. She is also described as "bold" and someone who liked adventure.
The same fanfictions I have seen portraying Laena as completely innocent at 22 almost 23 - let's go back to the main asoiaf books and think back to how "innocent" women at this age were even if unmarried - will be portraying 14 year old Rhaenyra as completely loose, a deranged Lolita of sorts (who curiously turns chaste and boring the moment she married Daemon, at only 23, but details because while love changes a person Rhaenyra and Daemon DID NOT LOVE EACH OTHER OK?! 😡) using and abusing Poor Criston - who Alicent called out btw for being a creep - because let's look at it from his perspective :( (will no one think of the 30 something male?!) and being as wicked as Daemon if not more. Someone making Daemon darker and more deranged too, nothing like pure Laena and Nettles who brought out the best in him and saved him <3
I completely agree with you about Rhaenyra's appearance and I think it's especially sad when you see people, especially women, making Aegon II look like he hits the gym every day - let's look at official art of him for a sec - and Rhaenyra like she is Jabba the Hut.
PS: All of this is only about the asoiaf characters and books so kindly leave the lizard redacted show out of it.

Writing Year Wrapped (2023)
thanks for the tag @sallysavestheday
Tumblr media
3 Favorite Fics You've Written This Year
Red - a return to my favorite relationship of all times, Fingon/Maedhros after a semi-hiatus. I let myself feel more than think while writing this, and let the words turn into a painting. Thanks to @helyannis for making that painting come true (see above).
What Lies Beyond the End - the giving up of the Silmaril by Maglor has been and still is one of the most impactful moments for me in the Silm. The writing of this ficlet was a gloriously cathartic music-high.
To Find a Home in the Twilight - Aredhel! All about Aredhel and her contagious sense of freedom. I went wild with the worldbuilding here and dug into characters that are blank slates in canon. Thanks to @toastedbuckwheat for supplying art inspiration.
3 Fics That Stretched You the Most
Against His Wisdom - this was a personal challenge to convince my brain to accept a topic I found extremely challenging for a long time. I also really got my hands dirty with elven psychology and dug into Fingon and Fingolfin's complicated characters. Thanks to @polutrope and @ettelene for the encouragment.
The Seven Trials of Fingon the Valiant - this was a sweet challenge in learning how to co-write with someone else. I am a chaotic writer, I feel as I go, I let stories write themselves. I learned a thing or two about planning ahead and writing in order with @polutrope.
Character Biography: Húrin Thalion and Part 2 - these are not fics but reference works, but putting them here because it was a long labor. A deep dive into canon to look at the evolution of Húrin's character and a critical analysis of the themes and symbology surrounding his character. (also: 11.5k words for this stingy writer!). Thanks to @dawnfelagund for the support.
3 Favorite Lines You've Written (loosely interpreting "lines")
I'm taking quotes from landscape writing because it was very enjoyable this year.
From Voices That Were Once Ours
The hills of Himring stay to the west, and the plains unfold. Lothlann makes an uncomfortable flatness, naked and exposed. The Iron Mountains rise in the far distance and interrupt the seemingly endless sky. In the light of day, they seem almost fair, and for a brief moment, Finrod believes they are not the work of violence.
From What Lies Beyond the End
The jewel illuminates the liquid space around it, calling all life to itself. Sea creatures, enormous and minute, come to offer their welcome, spiraling in a meditative dance around its brilliant streaks. Even the seagrasses reach their slim fingers with such longing they all but detach themselves from the corral that nurtures them to grasp but a strand of light. It is a silent spectacle of marvel and dread, like the sight of an erupting mountain seen from a great distance. A convergence that perhaps should never be allowed to happen upon Arda, of Sea and Sky, of profound darkness and starlight. In that fleeting instant, Maglor comes to believe that for this alone, it was all worth it.
From Red
On the rare occasions when Fingon allows himself to think of Beleriand, one image takes shape in his mind’s eye above all others. The last moments of sunset spilling down the prairies of Ard-galen.  If one was to wait for the exact hour and find just the right angle, its hue matched to perfection the color of Maedhros’ tresses under bright daylight. The dark reds coming alive with the gentle swaying of tall grasses in the breeze, Fingon would wade between them with his palms spread open and believe that a beloved braid was untangling between his fingers.
3 Characters You Enjoyed Writing (that surprised you)
Caranthir in The Seven Trials of Fingon the Valiant
Galadriel in crowned with the Sun
Zimrahin Meldis in To Find a Home in the Twilight
3 Unexpected Inspirations
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin. This book left me reeling. Thanks to @searchingforserendipity25 for convincing me to finally read it. The Helcaraxë will never be the same after this.
Age of Empires, yes, the game. Fantastic outlet to let me plan and imagine all my battle-writing, military formations, units, etc.
Paul M. Barford' The Early Slavs: Culture and Society in Early Medieval Eastern Europe. It helped me think deeply about the relationship between the Edain and the Elven lords in Beleriand.
3 WIPs You're Excited About in the Upcoming Year
Fingon's Kingship long fic - Fingon-centric exploration of the period between Galdor's death and the Union of Maedhros. Focused on Fingon's relationship with Círdan, Húrin, Maedhros, and Maglor.
One Thousand Days - a ficlet for Maedhros & Maglor week exploring their relationship with the Esterlings.
Scion of Kings - looking forward to finishing this Fin-galad story inspired by art pieces by @ruiniel @welcomingdisaster and @searchingforserendipity25

SNS fics in January 2024
Below is a short list of SNS fics posted or updated in January 2024 (and one from 2007)! Remember to check the tags. Expand below to see the recommended fics!
the vines that grow by GreatLoversLieInHell (AO3). Complete. 100k words, 14/14 chapters. Rated: E. After getting discharged from the hospital, Naruto returns to a home that’s no longer standing. Sasuke, who doesn’t do well in cages, flees the first chance he gets. Unmoored, unsettled, Naruto looks to his motherland for answers. Uzushio calls her son home. The road to Uzushiogakure is long, but Sasuke walks it with him. Sasuke, who looks at him, hungry. Sasuke, who sees him, wherever the light gets in. A must-read for anyone who enjoys poetic language and explorations of the uncertainty that comes with setting out to find oneself. Finished this January, this amazing multi-chapter fic offers beautiful hurt/comfort and a romance that isn't just picture-perfect cliché but raw and real. This is an analysis of Naruto's character and trauma in a way that I haven't seen it before, embedded in a travel adventure that takes Naruto and Sasuke to Uzushio. Bittersweet, thought-provoking and a very worthwhile read. Did I mention beautifully written?
What They Made You by GrimTopography (AO3). Ongoing. 395k words, 63/? chapters. Rating: E. Naruto Uzumaki's Mother, Kushina Uzumaki died the night he was born and his father Minato Namikaze tried to save her by using his demon to save her. The demon breaks free from his binds and is drawn into the new born child. Minato is enraged by losing the love of his life and condemns Naruto to a life of abuse. Naruto has nothing but Kurama, a couple friends and his love for music. School is hell and almost everybody thinks he's a monster. What transpires when a popular newcomer, Sasuke Uchiha joins the school? One night changes everything, just how will it turn out? This is like two fics in one. The first few chapters are built to show how Naruto was born and how Minato became the villian. Kinda like a prequel. Kurama and Naruto have an amazing relationship in the fic and I just adore it so much. Naruto is a tall, muscular man with a deep raspy voice (a mixture of him and Kurama). Singer!Naruto is one of my alltime favorites so I vastly enjoyed this fic and it's freash take on the idea. The angst is handled well in this story. It's also a soulmate fic with a very interesting twist! The romantic relations between them are amazing! It's thrilling to watch them handle all that life seems want to throw at them. The plot is so wonderful it's like gold, and worth every single second of read time. The reread value is so good. I find something new every time I reread it and fall harder for the story each time. Slow updates, but is ongoing and updated still!
Neonlights by lilypheria (AO3). Ongoing. 34k words, 16/? chapters. Rated: E. Sasuke is a courier in the endless, futuristic city of Konoha. Usually his deliveries are nothing but unremarkable. Then he is asked to deliver a person, and all hell breaks loose. It's a GORGEOUS fic set in a futuristic world based on a few amazing video games. Kurama is an AI within Naruto and it's so fresh and cool to see! The world building is vast and paints such a fantastic picture as you read. It's almost like watching a movie/game play video in your brain. The plot is so detailed and thrilling. Full of intrigue and mystery and wonderful tension between Sasuke and Naruto. Updates are slow, but worth the wait between chapters!
Dis-Honor by One_of_a_Kind_99 (AO3). Ongoing. 33k words, 8/? chapters. Rated: E. Be a good Omega. Become a worthy match. Bring honor to your family. Joining the army pretending to be a beta to save his father's life was the complete opposite of what he was supposted to do. The line between honor and dishonor was thin, he had no idea which side he would land on at the end of it all. An SNS retelling of Mulan. Omega!Naruto, Alpha!Sasuke. The Mushu in this is hilarious. The author has similarities to the film while also truly making it their own. There is angst, spicy content, action, adventure and of course fun banter!
Under the Table by Sebastian (taydrawrs) (AO3). Oneshot. 2k words. Rated: M. Sasuke’s finger clenched around his phone and he could almost hear the case crack under the pressure.  His phone vibrated. >Please. The simple responses kept coming while Sasuke attempted to hold himself together. >I thought you cared about me. >I thought you were a kind and good person! He must be desperate if he’s resorting to compliments (and such fake ones) that he knows won’t work on Sasuke. >I have never begged anyone like this before. >Please! >Just one photo of your tits and- “Uchiha!” Sasuke slammed his knee (the same knee as before) under the table again.  This time, he let out a full stream of cusses, before lifting his head to meet the angry, steady eyes of his boss. Sasuke receives a text from his husband during a work meeting that brings back a few very potent memories. It's a sexy office fic with some spicy flashbacks and sneaky phone texting during a work business meeting.
The sky is red by Skyheaven (AO3). Complete. 61k words, 16/16 chapters. Rated: M. Turns out that Naruto's new high school friend was born a girl, but idetifies as a guy. Well, that wasn't a problem for him. Except that he falls in love with him. He'd never liked a guy, so he must like him because of his female body, doesn't he? What a terrible friend he is, what a horrible betrayal to have these feelings. Better bury them deep down. Down along with his beating heart whenever he sees his face. A high school AU with a trans Sasuke. He hasn't come out to his family or anyone and so when Naruto finds out they embark on a journey of self discovery together. It's very well written and informative. There are lots of feelings, angst and some family drama as well as extremely wholesome. Itachi is a good big brother and tries his best. Which leads to some very hilarious moments. It's just a beautiful read.
Love-Love by Watermelonsmellinfellon (AO3). Oneshot. >1k words. Rated: T. What if Sai had been just a little bit further on in his research about emotions, and asked if Naruto was aware that his fixation on Sasuke looks romantic... right when they see each other at Orochimaru's destroyed base? You have 5 minutes and need a little pick-me-up? This drabble is the perfect choice. Just one scene, set in shippuden, but sure to make you smile, chuckle or giggle. What's Canon anyways, I am pretty sure this is what happened.
Dead-Last Champ by Yaman999 (AO3). Ongoing. 178k words, 40/? chapters. Rated: M. Sasuke and Naruto were high-school sweethearts. In love through thick and thin. When Naruto decides to drop out of college to pursue his dreams of being a professional MMA fighter, his lover has a difficult time accepting the sudden change in course and uses it as an excuse to justify the biggest mistake of his life. Will Sasuke ever have the chance for redemption? Or will he have to sit by as someone else comes to sweep the love he let go off of his feet? A great ongoing fic. It's a modern AU with MMA Fighter!Naruto. It has a hurt/comfort tag and it uses it. Sasuke is very impulsive and selfish and spoiled when the story begins. He has no idea what he has or how to value it. Naruto is just starting out as an MMA fighter. Cheating fic leading to their breakup. Naruto finds support in his MMA village and grows, Sasuke spirals and needs to sort himself and his life out. Does Naruto feel complete or is something missing? Will Sasuke get his life together? Only time will tell if they find their way back to each other!
And some old gold for you all, dug up from the archives:
Guess Who by Hikari M666 (FFn). Oneshot. 2k words. Rated: M. Roped into working at a phone sex hotline, Sasuke loathes his job so much he's ready to kill. And when his very own 'satisfied' boyfriend rings the hotline, will his mood improve? Not bloody likely. SasuNaru, yaoi. Let me take you back 17 years, back to January 2007, when Hikari M666 published Guess Who - a short crack fic that has the boys in a really interesting situation! For some context about where Naruto was at in 2007 - the Japanese manga volumes were just at the part where Team Asuma go against Hidan and Kakuzu! In this AU crack fic, Naruto digs his own grave down a phone line, and Sasuke is murderous by the end. Hikari M666 was a fun writer with some great oneshots, including at least one more SNS oneshot, and wrote for some other Naruto pairings, as well as some other fandoms.
That's it! Reminder that this is not an exhaustive list, the team is small and has their own preferences, and to always read the tags.

Punch out!! Fic recs
Decided to make a fic recommendation post for newbies to the fandom and those who may not know where to look for good/fun fics! Also, feel free to send me an ask about fics I should look into and add for the list! I'm more than happy to add them or make a second post!
From Fanfiction.net:
Non shippy-
One win by SSBFreak, oneshot. A short thrilling read about one of the few mysteries of punch out lore!
Shattered Glass by Eric Alost, oneshot. Angsty and really nice, looks through the perspective of a potential 'win' of a certain boxer.
To have, To be by Kmoody, oneshot. Short, cute, sweet, and slightly shippy Joe/Kaiser if you squint.
Faith by Derpula, multi-chapter, finished. Very good read about mac's contender fight with Super Macho Man, includes both mac and Macho's perspectives. Interesting character development and analysis of both and definitely has its hair-raising moments!
Blurred Lines by Derpula, oneshot. A look into Doc and Macs relationship, very sweet and heartwarming with the slightest sprinkle of angst.
Accuser by kmoody, oneshot. A look into Glass Joe's internal monoluge after a fight, angsty and almost feels poetic.
La Confiance EN by kmoody, oneshot. Slightly angsty look into Glass Joe's fears before a match, featuring a cat and a happier ending! Also comes in a french version.
Home by dannyson97, multi-chapter, unfinished. A story about Joe and Aran getting into a matched together. Because it's unfinished, the fight is never seen but the opening chapters are charming all on their own!
Snapped by NightshadeOfDeath, multi-chapter, unfinished. A story about Joe making a mistake and facing the consequences. Looks into his personal fears and perceptions of himself.
Teenager versus French Gentleman by BoxingWGV, multi-chapter, unfinished. An interesting flip on the story of mac rising to the top of the wvba. Here, he can't even beat glass joe and we see some trials with other boxers as well.
Punch Out: The Champion Returns REMASTERED by the ender defender, multi-chapter, unfinished. A fun fic about mac rising to the top of a different boxing organization with an equally wacky cast of characters as the wvba and some cameos from our old faves! Its very similar to a fic later in the list, but with much shorter chapters.
Punch-Out!: Straight to the top by VittorioFGC, multi-chapter, unfinished. A nice fic retelling the events of the 2009 game blended with the original nes game with some additional details. It has footnotes as well, which I found very funny, and an Italian version.
Klaas Dekker's Punch-Out by Alexneushoorn, multi-chapter, unfinished. A fic set after mac retires, a rise-to-the-top story starring a new boxer named Klaas, featuring some original characters and others from the various games.
Shippy-
Act Out! by JesterrDraws, multi-chapter, unfinished. Au where the 2009 game is actually a movie! Ships so far: Don x Carmen, Bear x Tiger, Joe x Aran
PunchOut! Second Round by Vile.EXE, multi-chapter, unfinished. A sequel to the 2009 game where mac has to fight through a new sea of wacky characters to find out what's really going on and what happened to the WVBA. Very, very, very fun! Though light on story, it makes up for that with the silly characters that fit right in in the punch out universe. All opponents are ocs and there are cameos from the 2009 cast. The story is very much like 'the champion returns' but with more fleshed out chapters. Ships: Mac x OC
Experiments by Timeless Text Traveler, multi-chapter, unfinished. An nsfw story between Don and Joe where they get a little bit curious about each other.
From Wattpad
Non shippy-
Good Baguette/Bad Baguette: A Punch-Out Fanfic by Grant_Cohen, oneshot, unfinished. An au where Glass Joe gets magically turned evil. Only one chapter but it inspired my own evil Glass Joe so I'm putting it here.
Shippy-
(Punch Out Story) Heart on her Glove by RedCheshiree, multi-chapter, unfinished. Aran Ryan x OC story that's pretty cute.
Punch-Out!! Oneshots by GoEatDoorMoss/Bald Men Enjoyer, multi-chapter, on hiatus. Very good writing on the oneshots and plenty of fun if you're into oneshot books. Adding especially because Matt has written 3 things for me and I love its work to death.
From Ao3
Non shippy-
C'est La Vie by Midina127, oneshot. A short and sadder story centered around Glass Joe, it's almost poetic in my opinion.
An Unexpected Friendship by peegstheprez, multi-chapter, unfinished. A story about Aran and Mac becoming friends and the little adventures they fall into. Very sweet and charming and silly.
try that again and i'll fucking dogwalk you by ReleaseTheBogus, oneshot. A dark, bloody story about Aran's thoughts in the ring, featuring his sister.
The shower situation by Littlemacsboxingring2, oneshot. A short silly story about everyone getting mad at someone for hogging the showers in the wvba locker room.
Full Moons and Silver Spoons by NoonboryKedabory, oneshot. Teenage Glass Joe Babysits a baby Narcis, short, sweet, and cute.
Sportsmanship by Broken_Clover, multi-chapter, finished. Mac decides to befriend all of his opponents with varying rates of success. Extremely cute and funny as well.
Sweet Dreams? by X_Sukix29, oneshot. Hondo is being haunted by something and is protected by his friends in the major circuit. Works really well as a short horror story with a happier ending!
Forgive and Forget...? by X_Sukix29, oneshot. Don does not take his loss to Mac well and becomes a mess until Mac, and later the rest of the major circuit, talk him to his senses. An emotionally deep exploration of Don's character motivations and a falling out between the major circuit boxers that resolves to a happy end.
A Place for Everything by Broken_Clover, oneshot. A look into an au where Joe is a god of failure, mistakes, and hope. Less of a traditional story and more lore-like, but very interesting nonetheless.
D7- Animal by Broken_Clover, oneshot. A peek into a dark, post-apocalyptic au where the wvba gang, no longer human, finds Joe in the wasteland.
Rabid Punches by megidolaon56, oneshot. An excellent, dark story about Aran having rabies and giving it to Mac. Sad ending, but very much worth the read. Note that there is untagged use of the r-slur and the n-word (Though cut off).
Aran Ryan Goes to McDonald's by basedbiasedbogus, multi-chapter, finished. Joke story about Aran's adventures at McDonalds, funny and silly and not much else. Warning for the use of the r-word and a cut off version of the n-word.
I KNEW IT, MAC! by AceAndOver, oneshot. A joke story about Aran discovering Mac's deep, dark secret.
2 Months Ago (Underground Circuit Prologue) by AxolKat42, oneshot. Soda Popinski fights a mysterious opponent in the even more questionable 'underground circuit'. A good and interesting setup to a story not yet released.
C is for Culture by orphan_account, oneshot. A short drabble about unique elements of the boxer's cultures. Short and sweet but it gives and interesting insight into all the other boxer's lives.
The Houses in the Woods by Homosexual_Central, oneshot. Kid au where Hondo and Joe are being harassed by the local bully, Macho. They end up in a fight and are eventually rescued by Aran and later meet up at his house. Hondo and Aran become friends from all of this. Extremely cute story that gives a fun take on Aran and Hondo's personalities.
Black Roses by megidolaon56, multi chapter, finished. Don loses everything after Mac defeats him in contender mode- this is the story of how he becomes the Don we see during title defense. Extremely dark story, includes a lot of angst, violence, and overall terrible people but hoo boy is it a fun read if you like reading about characters going evil! Extremely violent and gore heavy in the last few chapters. Also a warning for abuse- Carmen is written as physically abusive and it's not talked about in the tags, nor is the use of the r-word in the last chapter just fyi. Bonus points for the double endings!
Shippy-
(Punch-Out!!) A Cheater's Reason by K1TT3N69, oneshot (technically) unfinished. This is the first 3 chapters of an unfinished fic exploring the reson behind Aran's cheating. Joe x Aran story that I'm sad never got finished.
L'Eau à La Bouche by seroquickshots, multi-chapter, finished. This is a smutty story where the reader rides Joe's face. I'm not one for x reader stories that much but this one was fun. Joe x reader, obviously.
Keep hittin' me, I love it by moonlight_museum, oneshot. Aran gets beat up by his boyfriend and then they bang about it. Aran x Soda Popinski, very kinky and a pretty short read.
The Night Was Young by floridacow, oneshot. Aran and Narcis have their own little fight club and things turn smutty. Aran x Narcis hatefucking.
Narcissus Lily and a Lucky Clover by Mushroom_king1994, oneshot. Very similar to the above, Aran and Narcis have a private fight, things get heated, and they bang about it. Aran x Narcis hatefucking extravaganza.
Punch Out!! Oneshots by gorebot, multi-chapter, unfinished. Two oneshots centered around Aran x Joe. In the first, Joe goes to a party and has to stay the night at a mysterious (and cute) stranger's house. In the second, Joe accidentally finds out Aran is trans and Aran doesn't take it well. Both are kinda nice if you like the ship.
Blowing Off Steam by Richard_Van_Lesbian, oneshot. A nice little romp between trans!Kaiser and Joe. Joe x Kaiser smut.
Knock Out!!! by CaptainBumble, onshot. Extremely horny Aran x OC smut fic with some very wacky elements that are actually kind of fun.
Punch-Out!! : Corruption Arc by kingminty, multi-chapter, unfinished. A very interesting au where the punch-out world is a little bit... off. Main pov is sandman and his inner narration and characterization is really fun! Ships so far: Joe x Sandman.
Just a Sketchy Guy by TheRazor, oneshot. Joe catches Aran doodling one day and the two bond over Aran's art. Aran x Joe fluff, really cute and sweet with some joke ships thrown in as well.
Ma Chérie by waffled_moron, oneshot. Joe, having lost his gear, goes snooping around the locker room to find it. When Macho catches him, it turns smutty. Joe x SMM, bonus point for it being t4t.
Imperfections by gutsw, multi-chapter, finished. Narcis feels insecure about his face and Aran comforts him (and then fucks him). Very sweet Narcis x Aran fic.
Red or Green by gutsw, oneshot. Joe and Soda are having sex and have to use a safeword. Soda x Joe, fluffy, smutty, and sweet.
Atemlos durch die Nacht by pair_of_keet, oneshot. Kaiser comes home tense from a match and reader aims to comfort him (with sex). Kaiser x reader smutty story, well written and a fun read even if you aren't into x readers.

Victory by JubiJumbo, oneshot. Joe helps Kaiser feel better after a match (With sex). Trans!Joe x Kaiser smutty goodness.
“Rough Match” by starofmourning, oneshot. Joe senses something is up with Kaiser and goes to confront him about it. A cute Joe x Kaiser confession story.
Other
Vanilla by kimbk, oneshot. A midnight baking project gone wrong! Gone sexual! Joe x Kaiser fluffy smut.

thoughts/analysis of davepetasprite^2
My feelings on them are kind of mixed! On the one hand, I think they’re an incredibly interesting character with a ton of potential, especially in fanwork, but on the other hand they get barely any screentime in the comic proper and pretty much the only thing they manage to do before heading off on their suicide mission is tank any chance of Davesprite ever getting to complete his character arc in a satisfying way.
As far as canon goes, I think they were probably a poor choice to add in. They don’t get enough of an arc to justify sacrificing a character as interesting as Davesprite for them, and there are some seriously uncomfortable implications attached to their whole “I got fused with a catgirl and now my depression is cured” thing. I think they could have been great if they’d been given room to really explore those implications, but they only get a couple logs worth of characterization before collide, so it ends out pretty unsatisfying, at least on my end. The way it’s framed, it’s almost like they’re supposed to be the conclusion to Davesprite’s character arc, rather than being their own character, which is just… no. You don’t get to conclude a character’s arc by turning them into a different character, that doesn’t work. That’s the start of an arc, not the end of one. Not the last one, at least.
For fanwork, though, I love them. There’s so much about them that’s worth reading into, and they’re incredibly interesting if only because their existence has necessary and intriguing consequences for any setting they’re placed in.
They’ve got memories from two different people, without really being either of them. In Dave’s case, they were the spare already and they’ve got a fair bit of trauma about it, so becoming an even “faker” Dave is bound to have some kind of effect on them. In Nepeta’s case, they’re the only version of her left, and the fact that they can’t be her, even while she’s a huge part of them, is going to Do Things to their head.
I also think they’re lying to themself about not having depression anymore. Like, they know they’re probably going to permadie to Lord English when they head off to fight him and they do it anyway, despite literally no one asking them to. That is not the behavior of someone with a healthy attitude towards the inherent value of their own existence. I’d give even odds as to whether the constant cheer is consciously a front or if they’re repressing so hard even they don’t realize how not ok they are.
I’m genuinely surprised there isn’t more fic of them struggling with The Gender Thing. Like, they’ve got memories of being both a boy and a girl, and they decide to be neither upon entering existence? There are some implications there. Like, do Dave and Nepeta have repressed Gender Feelings? Was Davesprite an egg? Them immediately picking a new gender doesn’t necessarily indicate that at least one of their components was looking for an excuse to trans their gender, but it certainly indicates something. And honestly, that not being the case would have it’s own incredibly interesting implications. Like, is their gender an extension of their identity issues? It could be. I’d read that fic.
Speaking of identity issues… wow, am I right? They’ve got at least two different kinds of impostor syndrome, three years of getting called a fake version of themself on one end and three years spent as a ghost interacting with dozens of alternate universe versions of themself on the other, and that’s not even getting into the whole ultimate self thing.
Basically, I just… I love them. They’re wasted in canon but fandom is fully capable of realizing their potential in its stead and every time I find a fic that does it well I end up rereading it multiple times because they’re just such a delight when they’re written well. They’re also the only nonbinary character in the main body of Homestuck and I’m not about to lie and pretend that doesn’t give me a massive bias towards them.

Hi!! this is a kinda random question, but I was just thinking about it. So we know that the Druskelle (and presumably most of Fjerda) are bigoted, racist, etc.. Does that stem from their culture and like the wars and stuff or is that part of their religion? I guess hypothetically could Matthias/Maya/your other Fjerdan ocs have corrected their prejudices and still believed in Djel or do the two beliefs contradict? Just wondering what your take is :)
Hi, thanks for the ask!
I absolutely adore religion in the Grishaverse and a while ago I wrote quite a long analysis on Matthias and Inej's relationship with their respective religions, mostly focusing on Djel since I feel I know more about Fjerdan religion than Ravkan having read the soc duology a lot more times than the other books, and I talked quite a bit about some of these things so I'll link that here in case anyone is interested and below I'll put a couple of quotes from that more specifically pertaining to what you've said here. Essentially, I believe that the Drüskelle order is a cult and represents a warped version of Fjerdan religion and that Matthias' journey of self-discovery and of learning to find the version of Djel that he believes in and that aligns with who he wants to be is one of the most beautifully written character arcs I have ever read.
Some quotes from my previous analysis:
"Theoretically, the Drüskelle are raised (forced) to believe the same basic principles of the religion that most of the religious people in the country are [...] However, what’s taken completely further is that the Drüskelle are told that the only way to be truly respected by their god is to take decisive action against Grisha people for their power, because it’s “demonic” and a warping of Djel’s gifts. Now first of all, none of the religious teachings we learn about as the reader even remotely suggest this, which suggest that it’s a baseless prejudice for which religion has been used as an excuse for so long that it’s become culturally ingrained and believed."
"Matthias even shows particular pride that he was personally told the secret of the second glass bridge by Jarl Brum himself"
"And this is the thing, ok, because by claiming that Djel will show the boys the path and then telling them himself (!!!!!!!!) Brum is claiming far more power than a servant of Djel and or Fjerda. No, now he turns himself into a messenger of Djel, a prophet if you will, just to reaaaalllly double down on that religious trauma he’s giving these kids. He is putting himself into the Messiah-like position; he’s saying that Djel sent him to them to tell them that they must kidnap and kill people to earn his love."
"in his own practice Matthias would appear to see Djel as a benevolent god"
"presented himself as a Messiah-like figure and effectively forced these young boys to believe that betraying him is akin to betraying Djel"
Okay I'm restraining myself from adding more to that list because I'm just sitting here reading through the original analysis going "ooo add that" "and that" "that too" and I'll just end up copy and pasting the whole thing if I carry on like this, so if you'd like to read more I should've linked it at the top :)
I'm gonna talk a bit about Djel and relationship with religion in terms of my Fjerdan OCs here, if anyone is interested but hasn't read the fic you don't have to have done to follow the religion info but it's worth knowing that it's set almost entirely in Ketterdam and takes place nearly 10 years after Crooked Kingdom :)
For my Fjerdan OCs religion is very much on my mind whenever I'm writing them, and I find it a very interesting thing to consider. So, I have three Fjerdan OCs in Daughter of the Rain and Snow: Maya, a Tidemaker and our titular character, Celina, a deceased (pre-events of the fic) otkazat'sya whose body was burned and who therefore cannot reach Djel, and Fiona, a Heartrender who lost her relationship with religion a long time ago and has no interest in taking it up again. I'm going to start with Fiona because I haven't really explored her relationship with Djel very much since she has had less scenes than the others thus far, but I tend to have quite fleshed out backstories for my side characters even if they don't make it into the story lol
Fiona is 22 during the events of the fic and has been working with Inej and the crew of the Wraith for almost four years. She made her way to Ketterdam at 17 after her family discovered she was Grisha and threw her out. In a desperate attempt to flee Fjerda - and notably not knowing any Kerch language - she signed an indenture contract with a Kerch merchant who offered her safe passage to the country. She did not know what she was signing, and her contract was written in Kerch, but she just wanted to get out of Fjerda as quickly as possible and this seemed like her only option. She was freed and ended up working with Inej when she was 18. Fiona had battled with her relationship with Djel for a long time after discovering she was Grisha and keeping it secret, but when her parents learnt the truth and started abusing her and eventually turned her out with nowhere to go and no protection to be found she adopted atheism completely, akin to the way Kaz and Wylan found their atheism. -
“Saints speed,” she said to Inej, who echoed the words she knew were said for her benefit alone.
Fiona had given up on Djel, the god she was raised with, and had no interest in taking up another. (Chapter 8) (I feel so weird quoting my own writing)
Religion is very much at the forefront of everything I write considering Maya and Celina, particularly since Celina only appears as a character in Maya's POV chapters (she exists more as a concept to Kaz, Inej, and Aimee, who connect her to things she represents to each of them but whom they never knew as a real person). Maya battling her relationship with Djel is very much in the forefront of the story and one of my favourite chapters is when she goes back to the tree she cut down in anger and prays for it; the chapter is essentially a long monologue of Maya talking to Djel and voicing every side of her argument out loud. I won't list everything here but I'll add this quote from the chapter:
“I’ve tried it every way,” she whispered, failing to fight the sobs that were growing in her throat, “I ignored it, I tried not to use it, I used it for others, I used it for myself, I used it for You. And I have somehow failed You every time. Maybe I deserve to burn now, but they say you are born Grisha. Did You really look at me and always know I would deserve to burn? From the very moment I was born? Perhaps this is all I am in Your grand tapestry of destiny; a game for You to play, a doll that You can take apart and stitch together at wrong angles. I am a broken toy that can be discarded and burnt whilst the world moves on as though I were never here. I made the wrong choices, but I thought they were the only ones left. You could have let me stay at home. You could have let her live - let both of them live. And I never would have done anything like this. I’m so sorry…” her voice broke and she felt the tears flooding over her cheeks as she collapsed over the ruined tree trunk and cried into its empty flesh, “I’m so sorry,” (Chapter 66 on tumblr, chapter 67 on AO3)
And the chapter ultimately ends with Maya asking Djel to teach her how to deserve forgiveness from Inej and the other characters for everything she'd done, or to at least teach her how to forgive Him.
I think one of the most important aspects of religion in terms of this and in terms of Maya and Celina's relationship with each other is that even though Celina knows Maya is a Tidemaker neither of them ever talk about it and Maya reached a point where she was actively afraid to bring it up because she didn't know how Celina felt about Grisha and she didn't want to jeopardise not only what is the only relationship she has with anyone right now but arguably what is the first relationship she's ever had that wouldn't be considered abusive (her relationship with her father is kinda up in the air, I know, but considering that he sold her I don't think it's a spoiler to say I hate that man's guts even though y'all have a little bit more to learn about him yet) since realistically Celina was the only person she had a real conversation with for three years and the only other people she spoke to in that time would be clients, Yennefer, and occasionally other girls at the Tulip Mill. Maya even saw Yennefer's death more as vengeance for Celina than she did for herself, saying that Yen's death was for Celina and Kaz's death would be for her before she finds out that Kaz was partially responsible for Celina's death in the worldview that she holds - and as Kaz considers himself no less responsible for her death than Rollins was for Jordie's. I don't know if I'm explaining it quite right but the fear that Maya developed surrounding other people's perspective on Grisha power preventing her from being able to share her feelings with Celina I found a really heart-wrenching detail to write and I was definitely hoping to present the idea that even if religiously the ideas don't contradict - considering that we see Celina adapt her belief in Djel to say that anything that she does at the Tulip Mill will be forgiven because she has no choice over it - culturally speaking it's still such a complex and difficult thing to move past that Maya isn't even sure she can ever express it to the only person she trusts, and I also hoped to touch on this idea with the flashbacks to the Ravkan boy at the Grisha workshop with Maya who didn't trust her because she was Fjerdan even though she was Grisha and had literally fled Drüskelle and her home country
Anyway I hope this made sense, it's starting to feel very rambly and random, and I hope that it was interesting to read. Thanks so much for teh ask and for your interest in the fic! <33

I really, really like Kim Dokja as a woman in fics.
A cursory dive into men and women in ORV.
PREFACE: I love this IP as it is, I'm not a gender studies expert, and I'm a cis woman. So this is just me musing on this, and hopefully encouraging other writers and fanfic aficionados to fuck with gender roles and have fun with it.
I'm also not 100% sold that any of this was intended by the author or that other readers will like or agree with this take — a lot of it is how I, personally, have chosen to frame the text for myself.
I’ll also say that genderbending KDJ to make the Joongdok ship into a cishet one can be viewed as problematic, but I’m not really talking about the ship. More about the characterization.
I’m basically about to give you 2,000 words of this. That’s a lot. But here’s my Tl;dr
[Spoilers ahead. Also CW for some talk about SA in the webnovel.]
Just in case you don't feel like reading a 2,000 word character analysis and musing on men, women, and the treatment of gender in ORV.
Because ORV is largely told from Kim Dokja’s perspective, his view of gender and their roles is incredibly impactful on the narrative and the story we’re told.
That trickles down into how we’re shown characters and, in turn, how he values certain traits attributed to his concept of gender roles.
In the real world, pre-scenarios, he’s only seen the worst of men. From his father to his bullies to assholes at work — men just suck.
Enter Yoo Joonghyuk, the fictional hero of Ways of Survival.
YJH’s masculinity is, to Kim Dokja, what every man should really strive to be. Yes, he’s very strong and very handsome — but he's also deeply emotionally complex. He also cooks, cleans, and raised a baby all by himself, SO.
Add women to the mix: KDJ is absolutely surrounded by strong and resilient women right from the jump. We saw what Han Sooyoung and Kim Sookyoung did with the little fuzzy knowledge they had in the early scenarios. I can’t even imagine what they could have done with KDJ’s reference material.
All that combined makes female Kim Dokja just... honestly a powerhouse of a character to explore in my opinion.
Men in the "real world."
Growing up, Kim Dokja's male role models were... lackluster. At best. And Kim Dokja didn't fit any of the forms of masculinity presented to him.
His father, the first male role model in most children’s lives, was an abusive piece of shit.
At school, he was bullied by other boys.
Moreover, he wasn't able to thrive in the army, nor could he thrive in a white collar environment (see: Han Myungoh).
And why the fuck would he want to be like that guy?
So Kim Dokja's male role model was found in a web novel. Yoo Joonghyuk, a fictional character, captured his attention.
Yoo Joonghyuk is what Kim Dokja believes an ideal man should be from his beginning all the way to his end — round zero to 1863 and beyond. He wants to be like that guy.
Yoo Joonghyuk = complex, strong, deeply emotional but resilient
Men in the real world = churlish, brutish, villainous, or otherwise just meatheads.
That leads me to men in the early scenarios.
From the earliest scenarios, Kim Dokja is surrounded by strong women. Right from the jump.
Yoo Sangah adjusts to the new world almost immediately. Jung Heewon's sense of justice makes her the strongest member of the group. Han Sooyoung is a BAMF. Lee Seolhwa is the smartest person in the room and the only woman who's ever caught and held Yoo Joonghyuk's attention. Hell, Shin Yoosoung is Kim Dokja's powerhouse ward and loyal follower — to the point that she reincarnates herself without her memories to serve his purpose.
Aside from Lee Hyunsung, whom Kim Dokja often describes as a being a real stand up guy, the only man he spends real significant amount of time with is Yoo Joonghyuk.
We have to remember that this story is from Kim Dokja's perspective, so it's entirely possible that there were other men around, but that he just didn't see it that way.
At any rate, the worst, least complex characters are often the men of the story. This is especially true of the men in the early scenarios, which show Kim Dokja’s POV a little more straightforwardly, so I’m going to use them as primary examples.
Take, for example, Chapter 17: Ep. 4 - Line of Hypocrisy, II. Here, Kim Dokja has come upon a disheveled Jung Heewon who's dying in the street with her "jacket...half removed and a bit of her skirt...torn," left for dead lying in the streets, slowly dying from poison gas. He assumes she's been sexually assaulted.
He quickly figures out who the attackers are, because they try to attack him too. When Uriel starts a bounty scenario to take the villains down, Kim Dokja says this:
Tumblr media
And again:
Men in the real world = churlish, brutish, villainous, or otherwise just meatheads.
Let's get even more literal here.
Take, for example, Song Minwoo, a bully from the pre-scenario world who shows up during the scenarios as a literal monster.
This is a villanous male in Kim Dokja's life who, coincidentally, has some of the same knowledge as him, having read some of the chapters of Ways of Survival. And he learned nothing, except how to bully better.
Yo FUCK that guy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's go for another example.
Quality Assurance Dept. Deputy Yoon Sangho and the Mino Soft coin farm.
Coincidentally (completely on purpose) in the same chapter we meet Song Minwoo, we're introduced to another male character who was actually not antagonistic IRL.
Guess what? He's antagonistic now.
As a quick recap, when Kim Dokja gets there, he finds that the coin farm has captured Han Sooyoung. They plan to "make content" with her, and Yoon Sangho offers Kim Dokja a first go at her if he gives them more resources.
Read panels left to right, top to bottom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ew.
So much ew.
ANYWAY. Will reiterate the pattern here:
Men in the real world = churlish, brutish, villainous, or otherwise just meatheads.
I don't think it's a stretch for sexual violence to be considered a man's weapon. I also don't think it's a stretch to imagine that Kim Dokja, in spite of knowing this, won't attribute it to gender verbally — he'll just show us how he sees it. That's... kind of his thing.
Let's touch on Yoo Joonghyuk as Kim Dokja's Masthead for just a second before getting into the women of ORV.
I won't get into the later scenarios too much, because a majority of the new male characters are transient aside from Yoo Joonghyuk and his various regressions. And then we get POVs from (ahem) other characters.
So I'll get into YJH's regressions.
I've really hammered in how much men suck in ORV, but not really much about why Yoo Joonghyuk isn't like that. He's Kim Dokja's companion. His foil. (The love of his life.)
This is where things get complicated, because this guy is literally Kim Dokja's role model and, in a lot of ways, the center of his universe.
But that's why it's also most interesting part.
Yoo Joonghyuk remains the masthead. And it's not for his physical strength.
In spite of all of his changes in personality, he's still the same person underneath, who's fundamentally lonely and depressed as all hell. He's seen lifetimes of loss and goes on to transcend humanity, time, and space to become a fucking god. Even so, he perseveres through it to find the very end.
That emotional resilience and strength is what Kim Dokja admires in his only male role model.
Now let’s turn our eyes to the women in ORV.
Oh, this is so juicy.
The characters that show the most development in both the short and long time, with the exception of Lee Hyunsung, are women. I'm just gonna name some of the women in the early scenarios. There are so, so, so many other examples, from constellations to YJH's mentor, etc.
In order of appearance (I think):
Yoo Sangah
The most adaptable character of the earlier chapters
She starts chapter 1 as a high-achieving, kind of prim lady. She very quickly makes a deal with her constellation to become a badass who wears a catsuit, becoming stronger and stronger, kicking asses and taking names. She's also still good with kids.
Once it's established she's not a love interest, though, her prominence largely fades from the story. Side-eye.
Jung Heewon
Literally the best person KDJ knows. The moral high-ground and trauma-buster.
As previously mentioned, her first appearance in ORV is as an SA victim. Within about 10 minutes of reading time, she shows that she's able to put aside her trauma and discomfort to get shit done (a very traditionally masculine trait, by the way). She serves as the absolute good of KimCom and is often portrayed at the angel on his shoulder. She's also one of the strongest characters in the series by the end.
Shin Yoosoung
The little girl who believed she was evil, and eventually became it until she defied her fate.
A little girl who will one day become a villain. It can't be understated how complex this girl's trauma is from the moment we meet her, especially knowing that her fate is to be betrayed and trapped in slavery for all of eternity.
Kim Sookyung
The Wanderer King, Kim Dokjas mother, a false villain.
Fate did Kim Sookie dirty.
First of all, she introduced Kim Dokja to reading and the joy of reading things again and again, which eventually led him to Ways of Survival.
When Kim Dokja killed his abusive father as a young child, she framed herself so that she'd take the fall for the incident.
She wrote a book to collect royalties and help him live an independent life while she was in prison. To protect him from the truth, she let herself be the villain to her own son.
He held onto that — he was bullied in school because of her, and he didn't know the truth. So he resented her.
And when the truth came out, and Kim Dokja realized she wasn't the villain, she was eaten by the Fourth Wall. Holy shit. Of course, she was spit right back out when Dokja begged for it, but holy shit.
Long story short: not only was she not a villain, she maintained an unconditional familial and selfless love for Kim Dokja and protected him from the worst trauma imaginable by taking on the role of a villain.
Kim Dokja as a woman.
In my opinion. Just mine. Based on all the above.
Kim Dokja as a woman in explorative fics is fascinating to me.
As someone who's never resonated with traditionally masculinity, admired the story for what it was, defied it in the way he did, and admired the protagonist in a deeply emotional way, I just... just...
AH.
Ruthless, cunning, manipulative, largely (largely) asexual (we don't have to get into that here), and probably (maybe?) aromantic (definitely aromantic) — these are all traits that subvert traditional femininity too.
And I have to say — the family of cishet wiil-they-won't-they tropes could also be greatly subverted here, because this isn't a romance. It's a story about companionship.
I want emotional intimacy without the physical intimacy. I want the physical intimacy without the emotional intimacy. I want platonic love explored without emotional or physical intimacy at all.
But most importantly, I want it from a female character. Because I think that would be fucking cool. I’m tired of “woman with bow and arrow hates dresses and isn’t like other girls,” and I’m also tired of, “woman likes dresses but goes so super traditionally feminine that she eschews any masculine traits at all.” There’s a flavor of empowerment in both. But I want to see a next evolution, pleeeease.

The Long Awaited Character Analysis
Arc 1 of the hermit zombie apocalypse au is now finished so I get to share all my little thoughts with you!! Just know that I might not be able to go as in depth with some of the characters as I do with others because they’re included in future arcs. If you don't want to hear me ramble about setting and morality, skip the first few paragraphs to get to the characters. But without further ado, let's get this started.
Just a warning, this is pretty long so prepare yourself (like seriously). Also if you have any more questions just send an ask my way!
~ ~ ~
Setting: So when I first started writing I originally wanted this to be set in more of a countryside town so that the zombies weren’t the main focus of the story. Yes, this is a zombie apocalypse piece, but the first arc was always supposed to be about introducing characters and moralities, as well as focusing on some of the more niche topics in an apocalypse setting. I eventually came to the idea of having it be set in a city, but having the idea of hordes.
The undead in this story have varying degrees of intelligence. While it’s unknown where the first wave came from, they are much smarter, and faster than any after them. As the infection is slowly passed down, the undead get dumber and slower, and eventually reach a herd mindset. The hordes are the biggest danger in the city, but thanks to Doc (the only good thing he really did) many of them have been contained or eliminated.
This solved my problem with having too much focus on the zombies, and created the perfect setting for this to take place. The city is very loosely based around Berkeley California. I figured it would be big, but not so big that there would be undead everywhere. Don't worry though, some later arcs will have some pretty heavy focus on the undead, so don't count it all out.
~ ~ ~
Morality: As mentioned in my notes on the fic, I don't like perfect characters. Every human is flawed in some way, and that makes characters no different. The interesting thing about this fic is that the simple human flaws that would be easy to ignore in real life are suddenly taken to the extreme. And not only are flaws blown out of proportion, but morality that would usually be deemed ‘good’ is not the way to live.
I will go a bit more into detail about the morality of certain characters later, but I wanted to make sure that not one person in this fic is perfect. Some characters may be easier to sympathize with, but none of them are objectively good. The whole point is that good has been turned in its head thanks to the nature of the apocalypse.
~ ~ ~
Watchers: I wanted to do something a little different with this fic and the Watchers. The idea is that the people reading this and those watching their series are the watchers of this fic. I’m still toying with the idea, but I really like the fact that the audience enjoys watching them play out so many different scenarios that they (mostly me really) shape and influence their stories a bit.
~ ~ ~
Characters: (In order of when they appear in the fic, not in flashbacks)
Grian(21): The whole premise of Grian’s arc is that he’s observant beyond normal levels. It’s not explored much though, as he gets sick rather fast (another thing I wanted to showcase would very easily happen in an apocalypse situation). Still, it creates an idea that he’s not very good at making friends, making his group of trusted people rather small.
The thing about Grian is that he’s fiercely protective of the people that he trusts. When he’s figured a person out completely, he almost feels bonded to them. Because of this, he places their safety over his from that point on. He only gets more stressed the more people he feels he needs to protect (something that will be shown in later arcs).
Grian is a realist though. He understands just how dangerous the world they are in is, and he constantly is taking into account the steps necessary to keep his group from danger. When he falls from that roof everything is thrown into chaos. Not only is he actively fighting a major infection and injuries, but he feels responsible for his group no longer being safe. Scar relieves some of that stress a bit, being the absolute goof he is, but it’s still not much. Throughout the weeks with Scar he’s finally able to relax just a bit, and understand that maybe he’s not right about everything.
Morality wise, Grian likes to think that he’s a good person. Once again, he is a realist, so when the idea came to him to set traps for Doc’s people he went with it quickly. It was the only way to protect his group, but it constantly is tugging at his conscience. He still believes that good people are out there, and that he might be one of them, but if he and they are not. then he will make sure none of them can get to his family.
Scar(22): Scar is a strange one, putting it simply. His upbringing made him grow up a lot faster than most kids did, and so when he was only 16 he started working for Doc. He was a collection boy who would run deliveries and collect any money or goods that Doc needed. Many of his older scars stem from fights and close calls he had through his years working for Doc.
The only reason he stayed with the Perimeter after the first wave was because of Cub. His brother meant the world to him, and he always felt he owed Cub for everything he did for Scar. Cub’s death absolutely rocked Scar’s world, and he spent months in his apartment, simmering. When he finally realized that he could make allies and receive great supplies from arms dealing, he jumped on the chance. By this time Doc had completely set up the Perimeter's tight security, but Scar had some friends on the inside willing to sneak him in and out.
He took everything he learned from Doc and used it to supply those against him. Not only that, he developed an alter ego, The Joker, who took every chance to destroy Doc’s work. In his mind, it was revenge for Cub, and it turned him into an unbreakable wall with a devilish smile and charm.
Over the course of the fic Scar starts to realize that maybe he doesn’t need to be that person anymore. Thanks to Grian he is able to heal a bit from Cub and be close enough with another person that his humanity starts to show again. He’s a very touchy person, and so the second he’s able to be around other people, he doesn’t want to let go.
Scar’s morality is pretty set in stone. He doesn’t think he’s a good person, and not a single person left is. He fakes optimism at every turn, but deep down he believes that good is something that doesn’t really exist anymore. His conscience died with Cub, and most guilty thoughts are immediately pushed away. Every once in a while he will realize that he’s out of line, but for the most part he’s able to justify his actions with the idea that good is simply a construct.
Etho(22): Etho is a firm believer of revenge. Arc 3 is solely dedicated to this idea of Etho’s revenge, and much of his background, but I can share that he’s had an interesting relationship with it since childhood. As a seemingly mild mannered Canadian, he uses that fact to his full advantage whenever he can. A lethal fighter, Etho is easily able to dispatch both undead and people without a second thought.
He firmly believes that he is a runner, not a protector, at least until he meets Bdubs. Before meeting Bdubs, Etho was alone, and he did many things that... aren’t exactly the nicest to say the least. His gun bears the marks of every person he’s killed, a fact that he never shared with Bdubs. Morality is not much of a concern to Etho. He makes decisions and he sticks with them. Whatever consequences that come are simply what happens.
His characterization will be much more detailed in his own personal arc which, I’m telling you right now, is the one I’m most excited for.
Bdubs(23): The thing about Bdubs is that he’s a very energetic person. Before the apocalypse he was an art major, but not really. He constantly blew off classes to go out and party. Being social is what makes Bdubs feel alive. When the wave hit, he quickly grouped up with anyone he could find. He constantly jumped ship when it seemed like his group was going down, and that’s when he met Doc.
The story behind Tango’s stabbing and Bdubs’ betrayal is all shared in arc 2 so I can’t tell it quite yet. It does cement the one trait about Bdubs that stays constant in this; he will do anything that is convenient for him, and will betray anyone to get what he wants. This makes his morality a little shady because he is practically loyal to no one except himself, and won’t hesitate to send someone towards their death because of it.
Etho seems to be the only one that combats that. Something about Etho’s nature makes Bdubs want to help him as well. In the months that they are partners, both sort of repress the traits that initially helped them survive. Together they survive by teamwork instead of betrayal and revenge, which I think is pretty neat.
Pearl(23, barely): Initially Pearl was the middle child in the family, but in order for her to be as advanced in her degree as I wanted, she had to be the oldest. She very easily falls into the traits of the middle child, as opposed to Grian who takes on the role of protector. She’s a very impulsive person, which helped her normally, but in the apocalypse kind of screws her over a lot.
Despite her medical knowledge, she doesn’t really feel all that well suited for the apocalypse. She believes the one thing that she has going for her is that red haze that has helped her survive time and time again.
That’s not the only weird thing she notices. She often dreams of a forest, a bloodstained axe in her hands. Every time she wakes all she can hear is 'something wicked this way comes' ringing in her ears. Pearl isn’t very superstitious, but she can’t help but believe that she was a warrior or something in a past life.
Pearl is also obsessed with the moon. On nights she doesn't dream of a forest, she dreams of the moon. Sometimes she’s running across the surface, sometimes she can hold it in her hands, but the moon is always her friend.
Her morality isn’t nearly as complicated as the others. She sees what her group does as a necessary evil, and that’s all. Despite having gone into health, she never really got to the point where she felt the need to take care of everyone around her. Depending on how good of a person you are to her, she will treat you accordingly. She will be getting a bit more characterization in arc 2 and possibly beyond.
Mumbo(20): Mumbo often believes that he should have died the first day when the zombies crashed into the science building. He’s not a great fighter, or a runner really. His talents lie in creating, and he creates some wild things in the course of this au. Because of this, he’s pretty harsh on himself, but he brings the group something really nice; level headedness.
Both Pearl and Grian are stubborn, even though Grian won’t admit it, and so Mumbo brings a nice balance to their insanity. He’s often creating something, so he’s always able to just be there to be around. While he may be a little awkward to talk to, he always has the best advice.
Despite his nervous tendencies, he handles himself rather well when it comes to the zombies and people. His height, and put together appearance is often rather intimidating to others. He will never admit that he owns over a hundred of the same white shirt either, and every time they pass his old apartment he restocks. (There was a sale once a year at his favorite shop and he bought at least 20 shirts every time.) Honestly he doesn’t even really want to wear it all the time, he just finds it funny now.
He is a very cut and dry guy morality wise. He doesn’t like death or killing people, but if it's necessary to survive he’ll do it. Killing zombies is never really a problem to him though, he never once saw them as people anyways.
Ren(25): Ren is a long time member of very seedy groups around the city. Similarly to Scar he started getting into the crime side of the city fairly young. Unfortunately he didn’t just do ‘deliveries’ and was often right in the action, seeing and doing awful things. Because of this, the group he was in had a lot of receipts and proof of his deeds. Even when he eventually wanted to leave, he was unable to due to all the proof against him.
This is the reason that Ren very quickly became loyal to Doc. Instead of expecting him to do the dirty work, Doc did it himself. Ren’s loyalty is almost detrimental to him at times though. Often he puts himself in far too much danger, forgetting that he is so high up in ranks. In his mind he’s still a low level grunt that does what the bosses tell him to.
Oftentimes he is compared to a guard dog. Thanks to years of experience, he has no problems threatening and killing those that oppose him. He is unwavering in his allegiance to Doc, until he starts to remind him just a little bit too much like his old group. Over the course of just a few weeks Ren starts to realize that Doc may not be the person he wants to protect.
Ren’s morality is rather questionable as he’s never really had a person in his life showing him what’s right. Because of this, he never really realized just how screwed up Doc’s worldview was until it got really extreme. Only when Martyn and him start to become friends does he realize that Doc isn’t having Ren do good things. More on those two in a later fic though.
Doc(26): Doc is one of the more complex characters in the sense that he genuinely believes he’s doing the right thing. Even before the apocalypse he saw nothing wrong with his crimes behind the scenes. In his eyes the government was corrupt and his ideals were the right way to do things.
With this mindset he got himself into a lot of trouble though. After a rather nasty war with another crime group he lost his hand to the leader, Dinnerbone. (He killed him though, a feat everyone thought was impossible) Doc is a very smart guy, so he ended up building himself an entirely new arm from scratch, only coming back better from the fight. Because of his power and determination, his people are extremely loyal to him.
When the zombies hit, he quickly realized that he could capitalize on this. His vision is to have the entire city under his thumb much like how he envisioned it before the apocalypse. This vision quickly gets many people on his side, and only grows his ego. Only when he finds out that Jimmy is a traitor does he begin to realize that maybe he doesn’t have everything under control.
Grian only irks him more. Being the brother of one of the few people to slip under his radar, he quickly sets his sight on him. His obsession with catching both Grian and The Joker (unknowingly Scar) starts to drive him insane. He starts to make small mistakes, which slowly leads to large cracks and distrust in his preciously built organization. It all falls apart at the Buttercup takeover, and he finally takes one last shot at Grian and fails.
His sense of morals is all but gone by this point in time. The only lives he cares about are those that are useful to him. The only person he sees as an actual person is Ren, everyone else is simply a chess piece for his victory. Because of this he feels no shame using them to further his goals. The only reason he gets so offended at Grian killing them is that it creates a loss in numbers.
Impulse(26), Skizz(27), Zedaph(25): This group and the Buttercup Resistance will be explored and explained in the second arc, but let me tell you, their dynamic is so good.
There are some more characters I haven't mentioned, but their stories will be thoroughly explained in later arcs. So far I’ve got a general idea of how the arcs will go, but it may be subject to change so don't take this as fact yet.
Arc 1- Grian and Scar (introduction of most characters)
Arc 2- Tango and Jimmy (Empires introduction and start)
Arc 3- Etho (y’all better be ready for this one)
Arc 4- Ren and Martyn (we're going back to third life for this one)
Arc 5- Joel and Lizzie (Along with Empires crew)
Arc 6 and on????

Shikama doji/sika madu yandere analysis, this is mainly for me and my friend that will probably never read this despite the fact that they'll probably never read it, warning bad words and sexual themes.
This same friend made me read the manga and I have to say no character has such a big of an impact on me as shikama doji gives me, this man is number two on my list of favorite characters, sitting right next to my beloved shiraori(btw I headcanon the both of them as siblings) and I've noticed a very short amount of fics on him, I've really only found one so if someone could send me some more I haven't found it be very appreciated.
Anyway moving on the analysis we go into the first part, his character.
To this day he remains very mysterious, he's an angel like character who's intentions still remain partly hidden, my greatest guess is that he wants to revive his son Mika but Mika is kind of alive? Maybe there's like two Mika's and he attempted to create a perfect replica of his son but failed so many times until we got our current Mika? Maybe our Mika is a reincarnation of his son and shikama knows this but that wouldn't make sense since he kinda was really unnice towards Mika when he was turning into a demon and destroyed his dreams, one thing is clear is that he has an attachment towards his son because he quite litterly kept him in a clear coffin for an unknown amount of time, I'd guess about a thousand years.
He also is very manipulative while making himself seem almost saintlike, he uses people and then abandons him, he seems to care about people by calling them endearments before threatening to kill them and attempting to follow through with it.
I imagine him as a controlling yandere, while also being a training yandere(one that trains you to act a certain way), he's not one to lose his temper but on the rare occasion he does I pray for you. He's also not big on physical punishments, most of the time he'd opt for mental ones, even so he does really not like punishments going more for positive reinforcement. Kidnapping you is a pretty much guaranteed but locking you up really depends on the situation, a bit protective but really possessive.
I have so many ideas for this guy and I'm so excited to share them with you.
If we were talking Platonic yandere I have a couple ideas.
1.you being the angel Mika's twin brother, after his son died he'd probably lock you up, on a tower like Rapunzel, funny enough I could imagine him singing mother knows best,.in this idea I don't think he'd ever let you talk to anyone other then him, he would leave you alone for days sometimes even months, only to appear at the most random times, brushing your hair so delicately as if he didn't just leave you totally isolated for the longest time. He's overprotective anyone that even dares go near you will meet death, you wouldn't believe how many of his fledgling vampire accidentally walked into your quarters and perished.
2. Your one of the orphans he took in and turned into vampires, in this idea he would give you a lot more freedom, not consistently worried that your going to die if someone bad even looks at you, though he would keep you with him all hours of the day, those other Orphans and salves he brought? They wouldn't even have the chance to express there jealousy towards you simply because you have never once left his side, he'd also occasionally wrap you in his wings and hold your tiny body next to him, I don't think he'd let you age, preferring to keep you as a tiny child that he could forever manipulate.
3. This is my final idea for platonic yandere and definitely the funniest in my opinion, imagine if you were his younger sibling and he absolutely adored you from birth, taking over the job of whatever parents the two of you came from, being there when you said your first word, when you took your first steps, EVERYTHING. The funny part of this comes from you, you've always known that your brother Is a psychopath, you know about the people he's tortured despite how hard he's tried to hide it, you want nothing more to get the absolute fuck away from him, he's absolutely fucking delusional, everytime you try to hide from him he somehow convinces himself that your playing hide and seek, every time you run he's right behind you asking where your going in such a hurry, he follows you everywhere and your trying to get the Frick away from him. Imagine you somehow manage to seal him away for a couple hundred years and you meet our Mika and yuu and get super confused about it, wtf is his son here and the weird creation that he made. Imagine just dreaming peacefully, feeling happy you don't have to deal with your brother anymore and waking up terrified when your brother whose now possessing shinoa is hugging you, screaming on the top of your lungs and bolting down the hallway of whatever house you decided to sleep in. Basically this entire idea is you running while screaming and him following you.
Moving on the the romantic yandere:
1. Imagine being a cute little bird he found one day, one of that he ended up liking a little too much, so much that he turned you human and kept you in a cage, a cute golden one only for the most beautiful of birds, almost no one knows about you and it's going to stay that way, he's very territorial over you, being an angel himself he thinks of birds as lesser beings, so technically he owns you.
2. Instead of shinoa getting him as cursed gear, he gets you instead, though unlike shinoa he ends up liking you a little too much, haunting your dreams every night, clinging so close, and forcibly possessing your body just so he could be a little bit closer to you, he's with you all hours of the day.
3. Your one of his servant, you were a slave he bought and you listen to every single one of his orders, when he wants you to kill someone you do it, when he wants you to watch as he tortures an innocent person you had the audacity to help you do it, when he demands that you place your head in his lap you do it. With him you don't have anymore free will, just him only him.
This is all I've got for now, pls let me know what you thought of this and feel free to give me your ideas! Have a great day.

Holi Dani honey. Today i have a very very long long question
How do you feel about Etta? I don't think I've ever read that you mention her, and in your fics I don't think she ever appears. Camille (iconic), Imasu (damn bastard) always appear and I think you mentioned Woosley once. But never Etta.
The story of Magnus and Etta hurt me a lot. It's my Roman empire lol so much love and it still couldn't work. That is hard. Magnus has had two great loves, I think Cassie herself said it, and they are Alec and Etta. And of course, he has loved other people because Magnus does nothing but with all his heart, but Etta is the closest to the kind of love he has with Alec. And it still didn't work because of something Magnus can't control: not being able to have children. And then Etta got Alzheimer's and everything was even worse.
It's easy to talk about Camille, Imasu, or Woosley because it's easy to hate them and identify their mistakes and how they hurt Magnus intentionally or by being cruel in the name of being honest. Etta is not like that, it is something more complicated and painful, more intimate, deeper. It's incredible how there can be so much love and so much pain intertwined.
I understand that it is difficult to write about her, because it is difficult to write badly about her and usually when people read Malec fanfics they want to read fanfics about their favorite couple, not read one of them in love with someone else. But that's why I wanted to know what you thought of her, what she made you feel or if you perceived her in a different way than mine.
I know TLND Alec would have taken Etta's existence very hard, he wasn't in a good place. But in another AU, do you think he would have gotten to know her? Do you think he would have always felt insecure knowing that Magnus loves someone else almost as much as Alec, even when he was the one he chose to marry and have children with?
I loved this analysis! Thank you so much for sharing this with me! I loved it very much.
I like Camilla as a character (not as a partner of Magnus), but out of all of Magnus' exes, Etta is my favourite too.
This whole little analysis reminded me of a quote from one of my future fics: "Sometimes the way someone breaks your heart says more about them the way they love you."
Not only did Magnus and Etta have a beautiful love, but they also parted so beautifully. It was pure and good. Not exactly the right person wrong time, but the right person too much/not enough time.
There are many things that I like about her. I like that she was mundane. I like that she liked the arts (just like Magnus). She liked Magnus for who he was and she was very transparent about what she wanted in that relationship and what she didn't. In essence, it was such an honest relationship. No games. Not from either side.
Etta actually does appear in TLND! She's in a chapter called "To Be Loved By Magnus Bane" (i think! it's in timeline 2). I've also alluded to her in a couple of fics, I think. Although I'm not very sure about that.
I wish more writers (including myself tbh) would explore other relationships of Magnus - either in a fic with alec or even as a standalone one shot or something. Because there is so much to explore and dive into.
You are SO right in that some fans/readers turn it into a competition. Magnus loves Alec more and Magnus never did that/this with this ex, but he did it with Alec. I think you can write about Alec being the love of Magnus' life, and still write about all the other great loves he had. It doesn't, in any way, diminish the love Magnus has for Alec.
As for your question - in a mundane au it really depends on the context. I think a younger alec definitely would've been insecure. But I'd like to think, Alec in general, would've been grateful for Etta for loving Magnus the way she did and for bringing light into his life (That's the Alec I know!)

Q&A with Darth Frodo
Hey, everyone! Two years ago, this project started as a way to reach out to authors who had left some beloved projects unfinished, mostly to reach out to them and see how they were doing, show them appreciation, and see if they needed any support in case they wanted to finish their projects or just wanted to have fun sharing behind the scenes information and tips through a Q&A.
As a part of bringing this project half-back to life, I would like to present the first Q&A of this project, in this case with the one and only @darthfrodophantom, who returned after almost 10 years to the phandom to share the ending for "A Secret Uncovered".
Special thanks to @dp-marvel94 for the questions submitted!
If you want to find out other amazing authors participating, make sure to check out this recommendation list for the project!
❇️ About Darth Frodo ❇️
[AO3] [FFN] A multi-fandom writer who has also written for Danny Phantom since the show was still on air, Darth Frodo joined the phandom classics early in the Fanfiction.Net era with beloved works such as "Tortured Truth" (2006) and "A Secret Uncovered" (First published on 2006). The latter was left on standby as life happened, but Darth's desire to finish the story was always close to her heart.
Her love for identity shenanigans and the philosophical analysis behind characters also took her to explore other ideas and stories back in the day, but also recently as she returned to the phandom for events such as Ectoberhaunt or the DP Reality Trip AU Zine, for which she published delightful new adventures.
Now that she has rewritten all of her first vision for "A Secret Uncovered" and added an incredible ending and epilogue, we reached out to Darth with a few questions...
❇️ Q&A ❇️
Q: What inspired you to write your story ("A Secret Uncovered")?
Darth: Not sure if you’ve caught on to this based on pretty much everything I write, but I love identity reveal fics. I love the awkward tension that happens right before, during, and after the reveal. I love the moment where you just don’t know how it’s going to turn out. And I love watching the aftermath of the characters struggling to adjust. I really wanted to write an identity reveal fic on a huge level that involved everyone finding out, and it kinda went from there.
Q: Who is your favorite character to write and why?
Darth: I feel like I have to say Danny because he’s pretty much my POV of choice. His internal monologues are so fun to dive into because he’s witty and snarky, but he can also be so clueless sometimes. I love putting him into different scenarios and watching him struggle through them. But if I had to pick a character outside of Danny, I’d have to go with Jazz. I just feel like I get her. She’s the mom friend and the big sister who ‘s an overachiever, and I love that. Jazz can connect pretty obscure dots, be the emotional comfort, and a voice of reason, which are so helpful.
Q. Are there any characters or types of scenes (action, dialogue, ect) that you struggle to write?
Darth: I feel like I struggle the most with transitions. How do we move from one scene to the next and conveying what happened in the downtime we don’t cover? How do we give the readers a sense of the emotional or logistical events that happened without actually having to spell it all out, but also not make it too exposition heavy? I want to include the details, but I don’t want to bog people down with exposition and passive tenses. It’s contrary to that “show don’t tell” tenet of writing, but it’s also acknowledging that from an editing perspective, you can’t show every minute. (Of course this is now all you're going to pay attention to when reading my writing lol)
Q. This one is based on a screenshot I saw on tumblr of a tweet saying "writing a fic consists of having one scene you want to write and scrambling to come up with an entire plot just so you can write one scene." If this applies to your story, what is THAT SCENE for your fic?
Darth: I actually did! I literally pictured the scene where Danny walks into school that first day after his secret has been revealed and everyone stares at him and whispers about him and crowds around him. When I first thought of doing an “everyone finds out” identity reveal, this was the first scene that popped into my head, and everything else spun from that concept.
Thank you so much Darth for the time to reply to these questions.
To anyone reading, we'll bring back the Q&A part of this project before we reach the 20th Danny Phantom Anniversary, as a way to hear from beloved writers and celebrate our phandom.
Stay tuned!

turn week day 2: content creator appreciation day!
Fair warning, this is mostly going to be rp blog related because that's the corner of the fandom I'm in mostly. I write on here and cabbxges-and-kings.
1. @annastrxng I always really treasure our threads from Hewlett to Abe to Rogers. I really love our Anna & Abe thread, even if it was crack related because of the cabbage cake. I feel like we have bridged the gap between Abe and Anna and how the writers gave them little to no chemistry. We have added more life to their ship than the writers ever cared to do. I always enjoy the chaotic nature of Rogers and Anna interacting and his dynamic with Philomena, both people wronged by Andre and their circumstances to where they come together by a mutual need of revenge. I also enjoy our Annlett threads and the idea of Ellie in the mix of s4, strengthening Hewlett's character arc in that season. I feel like nobody has the best grasp of Anna but you. I also really treasure our one thread of Hewlett and Elizabeth bonding over pirates, haha.
2. @honorhearted We've been writing for so long, I can't possibly talk about all our threads together. I fondly look back on our Hewlett & Ben Horse Girl Book ClubTM thread and can't help but imagine what could've happened in the show if they met personally. That thread really helped me develop Hewlett as a whole with how his past impacts the present. We also finished what the writers didn't care to finish between Rogers and Ben. Also the Abe and Ben bonding moments. You listen to my random ideas and you're always willing to interact with whoever, so I really appericate that. Thank you for joking around with me in dms and supporting my madness and to continue writing with me for 2 years.
3. @pagetreader A new mutual of mine. I always enjoy the thought and the depth in all your ocs and I can't help but notice how well you write Peggy. I really need to get to our drafts, but I'm really looking forward to exploring more with your ocs and seeing where our dynamics take us!
4. @calamity-bean This is a random mention because you aren't a roleplay blog, haha. But I've looked through your meta analysis of turn and I love every single one! I also loved your fic! I know you don't post turn content anymore, but I just wanted to mention you because I loved the way you explored the characters when turn was running. I also really enjoy your artwork in general.
5. @multipleoccupancy We haven't written in a while due to our busy schedules, but I still look over our stuff in my drafts. I'm always fond of Hewlett and to find another who appreciates him as I do and writes him with my muses is always a joy. I feel like you have a really good grasp of his voice and his mannerisms that I can't help but read your threads for him on my dash.
6. @anoseforrottenapples Best Mary hands down. I feel like Rose captures Mary perfectly to where she could've wrote her herself. I'm always amazed with her depth into Mary's background that all her headcanons are basically canon in my mind when I think of Mary. Rose is also very sweet and is always super supportive of my ocs, I couldn't appericate her more for it.
7. @retrograderesemblance I can't even begin to talk about all our dynamics throughout the year we've been writing, haha. I love how chaotic to complex our dynamics have gotten over time. I still re-read our threads from time to time. I think Lydia wouldn't be the oc she is today if she didn't interact with your muses. I always enjoy our ooc madness and how we can go from that to complex plot meta chatter. I really treasure all our threads, new and old, and I love how our writing flows so well together (and how our muses are almost seamless in the way they naturally interact with one another, like Sarah and Sean for instance).
