The porch light is on and you know you’re screwed. Walking up the creaky steps to the front door and gently turning the handle. Your stepdads figure, standing at the counter sorting some papers. He glances over at the sound of the door latching behind you.

“Nice of you to finally show up,” His gaze goes back to the stack of papers he’s sorting.

You place your bag on the stool next to him and go for the fridge. Grabbing a glass of water and taking a sip before answering.

“We lost track of time, I didn’t mean to-“

“It’s 1 in the morning. Curfew is 11.”

“I’m an adult. I don’t have a curfew that’s ridiculous.” You almost laugh.

“You live under my roof don’t you?”

He’s fully focused on you now. Standing there. No papers in hand.

You want to scowl back. But you’re already in trouble. And being a brat won’t help your situation. Not when Rick is already coming in at you. Backing you into the corner cabinet. Your ass hitting the cool marble as he approaches. Cornered.

“Answer.” He demands. Annoyed. No. Angry.

“Yes. I do.” You day through a clenched teeth. He’s still in his work clothes. The police uniform that Deanna gave him way back when they first arrived here. When he first met your mom. When he first took notice of you.

“Who were you with?”

“A friend.”

He breaths out what you assume is a laugh. An unimpressed huff of air and the smallest hint of a smirk pulling at his lips.

“A friend, hm. Don’t know many friends that touch eachother like that.”

He must have seen you. Watched the boy drop you off from his spot on his chair under the living room window. Watched you kiss the boy goodbye after he opened the car door for you. No doubt catching the way his hand grabbed your ass when he pulled you in for another.

Though Rick seems exceptionally calm if he had seen.

“I’m sorry.” It’s not sincere. And Rick can hear it too.

“About the boy? Or about being out past curfew. Curfew that’s been set in place for all of Alexandria by the way. Not just you.”

“Since when?” This is news to you.

“Since one of your friends fucked up and got three of our people killed.”

There was an incident. A recent one. Only a few days ago actually. Some pretty heavy drinking was involved. Shitty decisions were made and it cost the community three precious lives. An open gate in this world will do that.

“I didn’t realize. No one told me.” You’re telling the truth. He must sense it because his jaw relaxes slightly.

But he moves in even closer. If that was possible. You feel trapped. A heavy weight pulling you further into the counter space between his hands. Ricks strong arms framing your entrapment.

“You missed the meeting,” he leans in, though it doesn’t feel particularly intimate. More intimidating than anything. “I wondered why that was. Wouldn’t have to do with some… friend would it?”

You shake your head. Your heartbeat is off the walls and you want him to close the gap between you so desperately. You want him to bend his own house rules and make a fucking mess out of you right here on the counter. Right here in the kitchen where your mother could walk in at any moment.

Right where he refuses to touch you out of his own moral agenda. Outside it didn’t matter. But in this house, touching you was rare.

He’s so close it hurts. His nose almost brushing your cheek. The stubble on his jaw scratches your cheek as he moves to whisper in your ear. Lips so warm against your ear. Brushing the gold metal hanging from your lobe.

“I don’t believe you.”

His voice is quiet. Soft and deep. But It makes you shiver as if he’s just yelled at you.

“I-I…“

“Shhh,” he cuts you off. He’s smirking against your cheek. Though nothing about his demeanour is funny. You’re in trouble. That’s all you know.

“You broke the rules. And you lied to me-“

“I’m sorry-“

“Sweetheart, if you interrupt me one more time, your ass is gonna be sore for a week.”

You gulp. Fuck. Ok.

“You’re not getting away with just a slap on the wrist this time. Not tonight, baby.”

He kisses your lips. Gentle and warm. And you’re more than eager to kiss him back. To make it up to him. Anything. Everything. All for him.

It’s not like the boy from outside means anything. He’s nothing compared to the man you live with. The one that sleeps down the hall from you every night. Tempting you with just the smell of his skin and the blue in his eyes.

Your arms wrap around his neck to pull him in close.

“I’m sorry,” you whisper against his mouth between kisses. Muffled and faded into the moans that can’t seem to stay put.

“Sorry doesn’t cut it this time, sweetheart.”

You tug on his hair. Hoping he’ll just let you give him your body as a form of repentance. But it won’t be enough. He needs to punish you himself. To show you some real discipline.

“What are you gonna do?” You ask finally, pulling away for a moment. Just for show really. Giving your most innocent doe eyed act in hopes of even a smidge of pity from the officer.

He doesn’t buy it for a second.

He smiles and your heart skips a beat. You know by the look on his face that you’re in for a night. A week. Maybe longer.

You realize quickly that it isn’t a matter of what he was going to do to you. It was a matter of what he would refuse to do to you. No matter how hard you begged.

And judging by the arousal already seeping through your panties, he’d have you begging on your knees in no time.

I've always been into science fiction, fantasy, supernatural, action/adventure & thriller/suspense the most. I wrote 2 novels (it was supposed to be a trilogy) in my teen years involving these elements! it's called The Trial and it sucks, lmfao. I also have several short stories and novellas under my belt, editing accolades, and four poetry collections, three of which were published before I was 16 c:

in recent years though I've carved out a niche for myself. I primarily write queer erotica and medical dramas and was makin pretty decent money off of it, but I had to close commissions about a year ago for my mental/physical health. :c there is a reason why I keep an entirely separate blog for it lmao but I honestly love to talk about it.

I wrote a 200,000 trilogy in ten months flat, from Dec 2020 to Oct 2021. it blew up in my sub-community and has somewhat of a cult following. I actually created it as a love letter to a friend, and that's why the driving conflict is so weird and sexy lol. but I'm gonna b a lil more open abt than usual it because its fucking FAG MONTH BABEY!!!! kink belongs @ pride and w.e so it's basically this:

a colony of aliens is at risk of total extinction after a natural disaster decimated their planet and irradiated its inhabitants to almost complete infertility. earth, largely a planet that has not yet formally had contact with other intelligent beings, is contacted by this colony - they want to trade technology and information in exchange for "help" saving their dying race. in this world, capitalism fell, and deep space travel has been widely accessible for about half a century - the colony contacting the Global Governing Body is not a random event; unbeknownst to the humans, it was inadvertently put in motion by one of the original "separatists" (earth defectors).

the story revolves around two transmasculine main characters: one an enigmatic surgeon with a traumatic past, the other a bubbly but intensely focused scholar of the emergent field of xenopharmacology. the latter is just starting his transition at the beginning of this story, and the medical side of it - with all the neat scifi bells & whistles to go with it - is explored and described at length. they are both employed by the government program that was created specifically to serve/interface with the alien colony, and over the course of the plot, they realize they've been deeply in love.

by the second & third books, they find themselves at the centre of an extensive conspiracy driven by cultural trauma & steeped in human experimentation, genocide, and military conquest. it's all really quite elaborate for some niche as fuck porn lmfao and I've considered revising it for a more wide-spread appeal, but I've decided against it.

the revision I've started is so that I can do all the lore and worldbuilding that was born of the writing process, actual justice. I started rewriting in the manic period that occurred just before my most recent suicide attempt actually lol but the notes are both extensive and mind-bogglingly coherent and I'm excited to see it thru. (and it definitely doesn't hurt that my fans are climbing out of the woodwork to tell me how fucking excited they are for the reboot!!!!)

♡ - romantic headcanon: Lotor has never been in a relationship before (before that little manipulation thing he had with Allura that is, though I hesitate to call that a relationship just bc of the nature of it). When he was younger and still living at home there were certainly offers but he always turned them down bc he was afraid those people and their clans were just using him as an avenue to get close to Zarkon and the royal family (and ofc he was right).

The only reason he knew how a relationship needed to work at all/how he needed to behave with Allura is because of all of his work studying ancient altean society. He’s read a lot of their literature (that still exists) both fiction and non-fiction so he knew what to say and how to act to be considered charming and romantic to get and keep Allura’s attention.

ൠ - random headcanon: Lotor gets along much better with aliens as opposed to other galra. The only people he’s ever considered real friends have been either fully or partially alien, and really the only galra he’s ever been able to have genuine conversations with and not be defensive or uncomfortable around as an adult are Dayak (mainly because he was so young when he met her and just got used to the way she is, nothing she does surprises him or feels particularly threatening), and weirdly enough, Haxus (since Haxus grew up outside of the empire and around a lot of aliens and it shows. and Lotor knows very well Haxus doesn’t like Zarkon or any of the members of his court and would kill them if given half the chance, so they can bond over that and Lotor can talk about shit that pisses him off freely without worrying he's gonna get ratted on).

Sendak:

♥ - family headcanon: Sendak is adopted! By Zarkon back when he was a normal person and like...functional. He ran away from his bio family really young and Hax took care of him for a while, then he was officially adopted and raised in the royal family since about the age of 13. And since galra don’t really distinguish between adopted and biological children technically he’s the royal family's heir to the throne who would represent them at the kral zera, not Lotor since Lotor, while a biological child, is younger, and also isn't a full-blooded galra, which matters to a lot of people.

☆ - happy headcanon: Sendak actually likes and is very good with kids! He doesn’t and won’t have any of his own because 1) Haxus is very adamant that he doesn’t want any under any circumstances, and 2) He knows he’s far too busy to be a good parent, and he’s not willing to step away from his duties for that long to focus on children. But he is very involved with his clan and does set aside a good amount of time to be home and help with things (since typical galra families raise children communally). All of the kids in his family love him and he’s considered the fun clan elder.

Shiro:

♥ - family headcanon: Shiro was deffff an only child and had a lot of attention. Like parents, grandparents, everything. That’s why he's so well adjusted. He had a very good childhood despite being pretty sickly with his mystery illness while they were getting it under control. He’s also def the oldest of all the cousins, he has that kind of energy.

Unfortunately, he’s also probably the kid in the family that all the other ones get compared to, with him being so academically successful and an astronaut in his early twenties. It’s a lot to live up to so I'm sure some of his cousins would be salty if he wasn’t so personable.

☆- happy headcanon: Not all of Shiro’s missing year after getting alien abducted was horrible! The first and last parts def were but there was a good 6 month period in the middle where he was well taken care of and pretty comfortable as Haxus ended up sponsoring him (fic pending here I'm trying to write it lol but busy and tired😭)

Haxus:

☯ - likes/dislikes headcanon: Haxus likes material shit and could probably be considered a shopaholic if anyone were to develop the bravery/audacity to say that to him lol. He also likes to read. Anything he can get his hands on.

He dislikes large groups of people, especially other galra (tho this is heavily related to the social circle he’s stuck in, he’s much more sociable when he’s around ppl he likes). He also dislikes planets. He grew up and has basically lived the majority of his life in space so being on a planet is weird for him. He considers it gross because of all the insects and parasites and whatnot and he always goes straight to decontamination when he reboards his ship lol.

♒ - cooking/food headcanon: Haxus can’t actually cook, like really at all. Just the absolute bare minimum that even a kid could do, but beyond that he’s hopeless. If he applied himself he’d probably be decent at it, but tbh he just doesn't have the self-control or patience. Very much suffers from ‘will eat all the ingredients individually before they can be used’ disorder, plus Sendak primarily does all of the cooking, that's his main ‘creative’ hobby, and he’s very particular about his spaces. Haxus is messy af so he’s not allowed in Sendak’s kitchen to practice, so he just never learned and at this point doesn’t care to.

♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon: Hax is a high-energy workaholic who really likes to be doing something stimulating at all times, and he’s done everything in his power to blend his hobbies into his job so he rarely has to do anything he outright hates or that he finds boring. His Lt. job is basically just so he and Sendak can live together he rarely actually does any of the command or organizational tasks associated with his rank unless Sendak /really/ needs him to do something violent, since the two of them have majorly different ways of doing things and Sendak is a control freak. His main job is leading/organizing academic research and development for the empire that’s outside of the scope of what Haggar and her order work on (which is basically just...quintessence). This is also something he’d do as a hobby even if he wasn't being paid so he’s very happy with that.

■ - bedroom/house/living quarters headcanon: Haxus is kinda strange when it comes to his personal living spaces like he has a mega eidetic memory so his method of organization comes down to basically ‘i remember exactly where i put it’, which...ofc isn't a real system, so other ppl see him as messy/prone to major clutter. Any place he has to himself ends up like this inevitably. The only reason his quarters aren’t like this is because he and Sendak share and *Sendak* is organized to the point of being anal about it, so he puts everything away.

Fortunately, Hax does make up for this by being very very sanitarily clean. There’s a lot of stuff but it’s clean to the point you could eat off of any surface no problem.

i think i’m having to accept that tma is just not the fan space for me.  i enjoy it now, but the only reason i got into was for the ace rep.  i’m not a fan of horror OR scripted podcasts (like i am neutral to actively dislike them pretty much).  i was not expecting it to be a romance.  not to be the grouchy aro but i thought getting into a horror podcast would be like “safe” for not having romance.  and i really like the pairing actually!  and like literally everyone else i project so heavily onto martin.  my relationship with romance in fiction is usually like- i like the part where they’re falling in love/getting together.  then the actual relationship itself is...like dicey at best for me (in terms of enjoyment).  it depends how it is portrayed really- sometimes i get it, and a lot of times it just seems so unappealing.  and like now is not the best time for either of them so i don’t really...get it.  honestly it just feels like they’re getting on each other’s nerves but are still together?  idk why that aggravates me- i acknowledge this isn’t a rational way to feel about this fictional relationship.

ANYWAYS.  idk i guess i hoped getting into tma that i would really relate to jon’s experience.  but we don’t even get his experience!  we find out secondhand, and it’s not even clear what we find out- so much so that it took someone asking a question and the creator’s response to clear it up.  even then, it was some “HE might not think of it that way but that’s what it is i guess” which is some straight BULLSHIT (pardon the pun).  i just wanna state for the record that that is WEAKSAUCE FUCKING REPRESENTATION.  at least don’t be so much of a coward that we can barely tell you’re trying to out him as ace (without him knowing) and then skirt the issue

and i don’t think he really got how important ace rep is so i maybe can’t fault him for that but...it sucks.  at least like...educate yourself on ways it might be good to portray aces in media.  again, though, my expectations are a me problem.  i just think that like we don’t have enough extant ace rep to like...casually make a character that misses the mark in those ways.  like yeah there’s a vast wealth of ace experiences and there are tons of aces who would probably not be like super ready to accept that they are ace!  like i’m basically not out at ALL irl and so i get it!  but at least like you could maybe not make that one of the few ace characters we have to represent us?  ace rep is not at that point yet!  we need characters that are open and unashamed to be ace.  todd chavez was a really weird character for me to watch!  i was like way thrown off by how comfortable he was with talking about being asexual (even though it did take some time for him to accept it!  which is totally reasonable!).  but i think it was necessary because it weirdly went such a long way to normalizing it for me?  like i’m asexual!  i spent a large formative part of my late teens/early twenties interacting with almost all asexuals on the internet (aven).  if anyone is accustomed to asexuality it should be me, right??  but actually seeing a character be asexual and even discuss it proudly made me realize how much of a shameful secret i thought of my asexuality as.  i’ve definitely framed it as a forbidden or taboo topic and really separated my active, open asexual persona online from my irl persona.  anyway the fact that that one character had such an impact on me just goes to show how much we still need that kind of representation and not some bullshit rep.

okay onto fandom shit:

i just find there’s so much fan content (mostly fic!  because i don’t really engage in any other way and i don’t really have any desire to!  because it’s even worse for this than fic i have a sense!) that doesn’t want to think critically about what an asexual relationship means/looks like.  either they are not ace and have heard “oh okay aces ‘can’ have sex, well jon will just have sex!” or they are ace and idk have internalized that message as well?  either way i fucking hate people who don’t think about how that relationship might diverge from an allo one.  THEY ARE DIFFERENT.  ASEXUALITY IS ITS OWN THING.  IT IS NOT A THING WHERE YOU JUST DO WHAT YOUR PARTNER WANTS.  IT IS NOT A THING WHERE YOU SAY “OKAY SURE” AND NEVER DISCUSS BEYOND THAT OR BOTHER TO SET BOUNDARIES.  IT IS NOT JUST ONE CONVERSATION AND THEN DONE.  like an asexual relationship can be those things but i don’t think that’s an ideal relationship anyways?  (even for allos tbh..)  and idk why you’d want to idealize that in fandom anyways?  like you can make that relationship look like whatever you want!  why would you make it look like that?  (not to generalize or like invalidate anyone’s experience but i....feel like there is some internalized shit there.  especially when these things are presented without question?  like it’s one thing to present things one way and it’s another to do it without questioning.  one of my favorite ace fics (notably, not tma) is all about the ace character exploring his sexuality!  and having sex with his partner!  but it’s presented with such attention to all characters that i have no trouble at all.  having sex as an asexual is not inherently negative, but i cannot deal with media that doesn’t consider and address the implications of having sex as an asexual.

and honestly there’s so much discussion around the Issue (that i don’t even get involved in but it swirls around my peripheries of my fandom experience) that that aspect distresses me a lot!  because the people who disagree with me make me feel like shit.  i’m sure it is really confusing and difficult to be an asexual who is okay with sex, or interested in exploring sex, or whatever people would consider themselves.  it just feels antithetical to the asexual activism of ‘sex can be cool but it’s not necessarily for everyone.’  like, if you’re an ace who has sex or whatever, cool!  and i hope you can find your corner of the ace community that vibes with that.  i cannot, and like.  compulsory sexuality does not need propping up.  if sex is for you, then congrats!  you fit into the norm in that way!  you might not fit into the norm re: sexual attraction and i’m sure that’s not easy to reconcile.  however, i am not personally in a place where i can be the person who supports that uncritically when i’m still working within myself to understand where compulsory sexuality and amatonormativity have worked within me.  because i have been hurt by both of those things, MY primary goal is to work on dismantling those things (at least in myself, ideally in the world around me).  and people who do not have that as a goal and who instead want to mirror allo-ness in writing an ace character just don’t get the same consideration from me, unfortunately.  i guess this has helped me see that i should just fuck that noise.  if you want to make that the big thing you complain about on the internet i won’t stop you.  and...it occurs to me that’s what i’m doing!  so i’m going to refocus and stop just moping about my aro aceness and how i’m being ignored.  i’ve got better things to focus my time on than haters online.  i will not be dragged down to their mopey level!

also i feel weird and way too old for the fandom demographic (even though there are certainly fans waaaay older than me in the fandom!)  i think i’ve outgrown a lot of the fandom mentality.  wait is hockey fandom for old people?  (i’m fully not old but i’m probably old-ish for tumblr/fandom.  certainly old for tma fandom)  it occurs to me it’s sort of a graduation into a societally-acceptable form of fandom and it probably doesn’t appeal as much to younger audiences.  AND things can be as sexy/romantic or platonic as you like.

anyway all this is to say that i thought getting into media with aspec rep would be good for me but i think i must conclude that it has NOT.  it has actually just upset me way more than it has helped me feel good about being ace (which was the whole goal!).  i will be glad when it is over.  AND i’m glad i’ve really just been engaging with rqg fandom.  it is much more fun and a much better story!

Lukas Schimik Agreed ! Don't know why everybody hates it, I think it's still my number 1 TF movie! Optimus new look, Lockdown & Galvatron, KsI (bots), Dinobots, cast ( HATED this Sam & Mikeala ) and the TF/human conflict. Still love it. Miguel GC Gamer Age of Extinction is the only film that entertains that I don't skip any parts of the movie and I like all the characters in this film and the transformers designs are great, dino bots are Awsome. Vincent H well....bad taste is also bad taste at the end of the day. I know you younger kids think that everyone is supposed to have an opinion and everything is subjective blah blah blah but if you're a cinephile than the Transformers are objectively bad films. They are cynical cash grabs made to make money in China. Bay and the producers have said as much. I mean you can like whatever you want. If you wanna listen to Teletubbies soundtrack all day that's your right....but that does mean you have shitty taste. It's okay. Not everyone has good taste. urtpro 2 I'm not hating I'm genuinely curious. I certainly like it more than Last Knight but barely lol. I'm curious the reasons why AOE fans consider it one of the better Transformers movies. I will say it was nice to switch up the protagonist and all that since Sam Witwicky had worn out his welcome by the third film. And the actress who played Wahlberg's daughter was smoking hot, so that was a plus too. Oliver Parker I thought the premise of the world hating and hunting the Transformers(regardless of Faction), cuz of what happened in Chicago(in DOTM), was kool, MW was a refreshing Main Hero over Shia tbh, and Lockdown was Badass! Honestly kinda just laughed off the whole Romeo and Juliette law thing as being just a bad movie joke! I’m mean honestly I know there’s no such law, and as such it didn’t really bother me! Just rather thought it was somewhat silly! Yann Labeille Well Lockdown was a pretty good villain for once in the movies. However Galvatron went nowhere after this. Anthony That isn't true. I saw Bumblebee yesterday and I find it Like watching E.T., the movie is just on Charlie, not really much on Bee. The only g1 part is the first 5 minutes of the movie. Too much 80s references. Sometimes is even boring for me. It Was a cute movie but absolutely not my favourite. I still prefere the first one. Aron T-900 I'd rather get vibes from ET and Iron Giant instead of witnessing stupid humor, unnecessary hot shots, dogs humping each other, unrealistic explosions, parents acting like they belong in a cartoon, patriotism and confusing slo-mo action sequences. Cam Rich I preferred the first and third ones as they have so much more action in them making the films actually entertaining, when most of bumblebee is almost like a compilation of ‘cute’ little clips of bumblebee and that annoying girl taking up almost the entirety of the movie. 1.      Keep physical reminders around

       _You can keep these reminders in your bag, in your study area, in your car, wherever you’re at most frequently! A huge motivation of mine is South Korea, because I studied abroad there, fell in love, and hope to return for a longer-term stay. So, I keep a globe of the N Seoul Tower on my desk to look at when studying turns to just dying. As another example, I could clip a small Korean souvenir key chain with my car keys.

2.      Envision achieving your future goals

       _…and then express this vision through a creative story, mood board, drawing, fashion, etc. If you want to work for a big company one day, you could dress more business-casual next time you go out to school (or wherever you like!).

3.      Research companies you’d love to work for

       _Look up reviews or testimonies from current and past employees. Glassdoor is a good website for this; you can look up different companies and it will show you detailed reviews from employees. These reviews can even be broken down by positions (so you can compare what it would be like to work in the Marketing versus Finance department).

4.      Look up your dream home

       _Start with the place(s) you’d like to live in, and then look up real estate in the area to see how much your dream life costs. Don’t just focus on the finances though; see how the neighborhood is and what fun things there are to do nearby!

5.      Read an interesting article/book or watch a video on your preferred topic

       _Maybe you’re a stressed out biology student, but try to remember the cool/fun side of science! You could look up animal facts or interesting animal research videos, read about a new discovery in the science world, or read a sci-fi book.

6.      Backtrack

       _Look at your past achievements: past awards/recognition, transcripts from a term where you got your best grades, Dean’s/President’s List letter, welcome letter from your school’s honors program/society, job/university acceptance e-mail,etc.

7.      Remember your responsibilities

       _If you have any academic scholarship(s), odds are you have to keep your grades above a certain criteria. So, get to it!

8.     Make a motivational song/video playlist

       _Add songs that get you fired up or your favorite TED talks.

9.     Look to the motivational people in your life

       _Have successful parents/friends/professors that you’re super proud of? Let their stories inspire you. Or, look up other people’s success stories in your preferred field (especially those who had to overcome extreme obstacles to get there).

10.   Have a satisfying conversation

       _We’ve all experienced those long conversations that make us feel good afterward. Talk to a favorite professor, friend, or even a favorite studyblr (pick mee) about school, careers, and life in general.

11.   Bribe yourself

       _Sometimes we just need to promise ourselves a day of shopping, a cheat day, a day in bed watching movies, or whatever to keep us going ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

12.   Socialize wisely

       _As in, get together with classmates to study. Sometimes we need our feelings to be validated, so de-stress by ranting to each other about the homework and tests- and then help each other LEARN IT!

       _If meeting up with people isn’t possible, look up “study with me” videos on YouTube. I thought this was kind of weird, but sometimes friends just can’t meet up and studying next to someone really helps me focus. Sometimes this is the next best thing, okay? 😂

13.   Treat yourself

       _…to a new notebook, set of pens, highlighters, sticky notes, etc. New notebooks especially motivate me because you can write just about anything in ‘em. They can become bujos, dream journals, diaries, grimoires, space for your studies, a place for your fiction drafts, whatever you want!

14.   Scroll through studyblrs/grams

      _Like the one you’re looking at now! :D hii

15.   Create your own studyblr/gram

       _I started this blog mostly to help myself, tbh. I mean, I hope this blog inspires you all, but I assure you I’m probably the one who needs the most organization in her life 😂. Having a studyblr means making time to create original posts, reblog, and becoming involved in the community. Its definitely helped me study because my notes are basically useful content for my blog.

16.   Start a bullet journal

       _Or buy a pretty planner if you’re not that creative or too much of a perfectionist to start right away. Seriously, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Even if you want to post pictures of your spreads on your blog, you have time to get a nice theme going. So just start it, regardless of how your handwriting or drawing skills are at the moment. It will ALL get better with time and practice.

17.   Self-teach

       _Sometimes we need to get out of the classroom and find the joy in learning about the world through our own experiences. Its why we played as children. I used to love learning new languages and how to play instruments on my own, so I make time for it in my busy schedule.

18.   Volunteer

       _…at a high school or elementary school. Being a mentor to younger students can remind you why you wanted to do what you’re doing now. It’s good for reflecting. You can also tutor students at school to get back in the academic zone.

19.   Mental health is important

       _Sometimes a lack of motivation can mean more than simple student stress. Take care of your mind and seek help if you need it.

20.   Be grateful

       _Remember that being a student is a huge privilege, so enjoy the heck out of it while you can!

(I'm doing this partly in a live-blog fashion, so keep that in mind.)

1) But I/we aren’t trying to make any money out of it!

Well, see, this is where “illegal” comes in. You can’t break into somebody’s house, even if you don’t mean to steal anything. You can’t camp in someone’s backyard without permission, even if you aren’t raising a marijuana crop back there. And you can’t use someone’s copyrighted characters for your own purposes, no matter what those purposes are.

That's bullshit. This is bullshit. And btw, the law isn't always right, let's not forget. You can't compare those things; you're practically saying every musician who ever played a variation/remix of an existing temporary music piece without asking for the rights to use them but also without demanding money to show their work, are criminals. I guess say goodbye to street musicians. You're saying anyone who paints themselves a copy (or a variation) of Picasso's Guernica and hangs it in a public space (say, a coffee shop) is a criminal. Bullshit.

Oddly enough, the notion of using someone else’s characters never occurred to me. I just tried to do it on my own. Surprise! It worked.

Find All: “Jamie Fraser”. Replace with: “Joe Kerastopolous”. No problemo, all your own work, and any praise you get is duly earned.

How does this even make sense? The only thing this woman cares about are what names we use in fanfiction? If we don't then everything is solved?

4) But nobody would read stuff I wrote if it wasn’t about characters they already like!

Possibly true, possibly not. Depends on how good a writer you are, and how you go about displaying your work once you’ve written it. But—allowing for the moment that this argument holds water—what you’re saying is that a) you deserve an audience, no matter what, and b) you’d prefer to exploit someone else’s talent and hard work, rather than go to the trouble of making your own way.

Way to encourage newbie writers!

I already mentioned the shit she said about Donald Duck being created by Carl Barks. And she was paid by the Walt Disney Corporation, for crying out loud.

You know, not everyone wants to be a full-time writer. Some only want to do it in their free time after a work that has nothing to do with writing. What she's saying is to either dedicate yourself fully to writing or not at all. Again, way to encourage newbie writers.

This is, btw, one reason why fan-fic versions of popular characters so often seem superficial; they lack the depth that the Real Thing has—the writer has merely grabbed at the broadest impression of the character, not built them in complex layers.

Did she just ditch the entirety of fanfiction on the basis that they aren't as DEEP as the Real Thing? Even if in a lot of cases the opposite applies?

I understand the urge to take a story that’s fired your imagination and carry it on or explore other avenues that it might have taken. ¬_Everybody_ does this, when they’ve seen a movie or read a book that captured their imagination [...] Giving people intriguing possibilities is one of the hallmarks of good fiction. But what you do in the privacy of your own imagination is a matter of total freedom; what you do in public is not.

So... we have no freedom of speech then? I mean, I get calling out someone who is talking rude in public, but that's still this asshole's right, as it is my right to call them out.

Beyond the specific arguments against the concept remains the unfortunate fact that a terrible lot of fan-fic is outright cringe-worthy and ought to be suppressed on purely aesthetic grounds.

So are so, so many published books that had no connection to fanfiction whatsoever. Didn't see you going against publishing in general.

Now, I don’t go looking for fan-fiction written about my characters; in fact, I try _not¬_ to see it. But now and then someone sends me a link to a site displaying it [...]

See, if the writer didn't send you the link themselves, you shouldn't blame them for you getting exposed to it! There's a reason the majority of fanfiction writers don't want to send their writings to the original content creators. But you would’ve known that, had you asked the fanfiction community first before you tried to paint us as horrible people.

Now, look. Human beings are hardwired to be interested in sex. We just _are_. Any kind of sex, performed by anyone, anytime, anywhere. Bad sex, good sex, poorly depicted sex, elegantly drawn sex…it doesn’t matter. We have a genetic compulsion to _look_. We’ll look at _anything_ having sex, human or not.

And on your right side, you can see erasure of asexuality.

But…imagine opening your daily mail and finding a letter detailing an explicit sexual encounter between, say, your twenty-one-year-old daughter and your forty-eight-year-old male neighbor---written by the neighbor. At the bottom it says, “Fiction! Just my imagination. All cool, right?” This would perhaps prevent your calling the police, but I repeat…ick. I wouldn’t like people writing sex fantasies for public consumption about me or members of my family—why would I be all right with them doing it to the intimate creations of my imagination and personality?

Is she actually comparing her protective feelings to her fictional characters with the protective feelings to her own family? Is this woman mentally okay?

And personally, I would have called the police.

I'm treading carefully here since I haven't watched the show... but I do get an air of homophobia and discrimination against people who are into BDSM. Wouldn't surprise me, tbh, but I can't be sure.

I also mentioned the fact that she was angry someone wanted to write a fanfiction with her character in order to raise money for a charity. Hm. And then tried to cover it. Of course she would.

People in the book end of the trade watch these developments with a lot of interest—and some apprehension, knowing what happened to the music industry with the advent of Napster and file-sharing. The music industry still exists, of course, but it’s a lot harder for the creative people who _make_ music to make a living from it.

Dude, file-sharing harms the music industry because they take the original content and give it to the world for free. Writing fanfiction isn't copying the entirety of your book and giving it to the world for free. That's still file-sharing, blame the pirates. Fanfiction can fucking promote your work without you having to offer a single penny.

People who read my books tend to be both intelligent (not just because they like _my_ books, but by and large, it takes a fair amount of intellectual resilience to want to take on 1000-page books of any kind), and creative.

LOL honey, get over yourself already. Also, the Twilight series consist, overall, of over 2k pages. Does that mean anything for the people who read it? I read three of those books. Am I intelligent and creative too?

Characters—good characters, “real” characters—derive their reality from the person who created them. They _are_ the person who created them, refracted through the lens of that writer’s experience, imagination, love, fear, and craft. Another writer seeking to duplicate that character might equal—or conceivably surpass--the craft; they can’t touch the essence.

When you mess with my stuff, you’re not messing with my characters—you’re messing with _me_.

Who are the writers of the Outlander TV series again? Oh that's okay because you're making money out of it?

readers occasionally _do_ stumble over bits of fan-fiction, and—while they realize they’re reading fan-fiction at the time— still incorporate these _faux_ stories into their comprehension and memory of the real series.

I wonder if the script for the Outlander TV series is exactly, word-for-word the same as the script in the book series. Has she complained about that? (I’m actually asking this, though, I’ve no clue) Why should she complain about fanfiction? Because she doesn't make money out of the latter?

There is also the issue of a fan at some point writing a piece that inadvertently picks up a plotline that I have myself written, but that hasn’t yet appeared in print—and then turning around and claiming that I’ve stolen it from him/her [...].

*them. Also, that's one problematic behaviour. She's literally judging all fanfiction writers based on one problematic behaviour, what a grown-up.

Anyway, yeah, even if at some point I would have wanted to give her books a try... now I know I never will, purely out of spite.

Honestly though does anyone else find it hilarious that Shuichi’s absolute confusion didn’t break Kaito’s immersion in the fantasy in the slightest?

I do love the word ‘eccentric’ for Kaito, because it honestly wouldn’t have been the first thing to come to mind for me - but I guess to Shuichi, who is so withdrawn in himself and anxious all the time, an aggressively positive extrovert who chases his ambitions and believes in himself/everyone around him so strongly would be a completely alien concept to him! I actually think that it’s the fact that Kaito believes in Shuichi so strongly, and not just in himself, that throws Shuichi off the most, too!

So, um, did you guys have judges giving you scores? Was this done in private or via actual accredited competition? It’s clearly not a traditional race based on speed, so...

Assuming this fantasy is one that’s being judged by other people (because once again I’m thinking about the fantasy scenarios way too seriously), I can sort of see this taking place in the hangar before they go into their planes. It is their way of connecting. What else will they have once the competition is put to rest?

Kaito is going to have to confront the fact that all of the people he’s trying to nurture and help grow will be left behind once he goes into space, though. I... suppose this is hinting at that, just a little bit. He dreams big, but big dreams come with sacrifices.

But, of course, then he wouldn’t be able to ever achieve his dream of going to space.

S... Shuichi, you do remember that you aren’t actually the pilot he’s ‘talking’ to, right? It does seem significant that Shuichi is losing himself to the role, though. Has he done that in any of the other events? Minus Kokichi’s of course, considering the fact that Shuichi was himself in that one, I haven’t noticed anything on this level from the ones I’ve done so far. And with that said, you could easily read into it as Shuichi commenting on their training nights together. They do seem like the only times Shuichi has been legitimately happy - outside of his time with Kaede, of course.

Ah, that stings a bit. 8′D This is a pretty good reminder that, despite me loving the ship so much, Kaito’s perfect fantasy is not Shuichi - or at least, not Shuichi as he is now. Actually, I know the game is pushing for potential Maki!endgame but I think Kaede might fit the bill better. I remember noticing it a lot in the first chapter (and... uh, low-key shipping them tbh), but Kaito always seemed really impressed by Kaede, and whenever Kaito was about to chip in with what I imagined to be a big friendship/supportive-type speech about ‘never giving up!’ and ‘believe in your friends!’, Kaede would always beat him to the punch... and yet Kaito never seemed to feel threatened by her. They’re both pretty headstrong, and Kaede did strike me as being competitive in her own way - honestly, as a rarepair ship they would work really well together!

With that said, I can imagine Shuichi’s fantasy involving someone supporting them through all his worries (COUGHKAITOCOUGHKAEDE) so... you know. It almost feels like Shuichi is getting to live out a bit of his own fantasy situation right here - being in a position where he can hold his own against Kaito, and where Kaito recognizes him as an equal while still being his supportive self, with his eyes only on him...

also I feel like I should note, just because Shuichi isn’t Kaito’s ultimate ideal doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t be up there. In fact, I’d argue that Kaito’s big thing is raising people up to the level where they can be as confident in themselves as he is in them, and in himself. Maybe in the future when Shuichi reaches that level Kaito could see something more in him? okay maybe not in the game canon but post-game fan material wink wink nudge nudge guys plz

All jokes aside, it is pretty impressive to be able to work towards your goal with such determination. I can understand why Kaito could probably grate on a few people playing this, but I really find that sort of attitude impressive.

.... Quick question. Is Kaito saying ‘man’ as general slang or is he acknowledging Shuichi as a man? As in, Kaito is confirmed to be at least bi under the right (shounen) circumstances? I’M JUST ASKING... FOR SCIENCE...

It’s interesting to get it at this point, after the reveal of the disease he has. It’s another clear indicator that Kaito has trouble being honest with other people about vulnerabilities despite him doing his best to encourage other people to rely on him. And it’s strange, because he’s fully honest and eager about his own ambitions and passions! And love itself is a passion of sorts, but this is the type of thing that requires a certain level of vulnerability, and it’s also something where he doesn’t have full control over his destiny the way he does over his other goals - if the person doesn’t love you back, then there’s very little you can do about it. I hesitate to go so far as to say that he has a fear of rejection, but he definitely doesn’t want to be the one to say ‘I’m in love with you’ before the other person does, as far as I can tell...

“Quite literally, actually. See, look!”

But man, Shuichi is literally acknowledging the situation he’s in (dubious as it is lmao) and knows that there’s a 99% chance that Kaito wants to confess to his feelings to ‘him’. Shuichi, you do realize what a powerful position you have right now, right?

So I guess the question is whether Shuichi is hesitating because he doesn’t feel the same way, he just doesn’t want to take advantage of the situation... or whether Shuichi wants to earn that confession as ‘himself’, and not just as some fictional ideal manufactured by the power of the room they’re in. I suppose that depends on the viewer!

I’ve made it pretty clear that I’ve been shipping them for a while so, uh, you all probably know how I want to read it, but there is plenty of room for other interpretations too ~ they do have a fantastic bro-ship going on too!

Aaaah, Kaito :( I have a feeling that while he’d be willing to pursue a gay relationship with pilot!Shuichi, he understands how unusual that would be in ‘that world’. I wonder if that means he would be that open and understanding with his own sexuality if it ever came up in-game? He doesn’t seem to be struggling with his own feelings in the sense of ‘oooh ~ forbidden love ~’, but rather the idea of his rival’s own feelings being returned.

Between Kokichi’s love key and this one, Shuichi is a mess.

Soul space

I can tell I haven't been taking enough space for myself lately. I've been distracting myself with small travels, socializing, stress, work. I'm soon starting work as a Montessori teacher assistant for 2-3 year olds!! With all these retrogrades it might not be the best time for a new start, I'm also constantly tired, but I felt like I had to. Maybe because I'm trying to prove to myself that I can. Maybe because I want a schedule, I want to contribute with something and to be in a community of like-minded people. I've set an intention about this a few months ago! My mantra was "I'm working in a harmonious place with authentic people, where I can use my skills to contribute and to help". I tried to visualize it, to really feel it- and it seems to have worked!

I made small rituals of letting go of fears about it. I made this decision consciously and if it doesn't work for me, I'll as consciously quit. I want to explore, I wanted to make a change (I'm also moving to a new city), if I would've stayed in the same space I would've felt really frustrated. Maybe change for the sake of change can also be intertwined with purpose.

I feel really angry lately. Really angry and also turned on, like all my frustrations and impulses came to the surface and they won't let me go back to my safe space again. I do try to get back in there though. I'm overeating again, I gained some weight, the healthy lifestyle plans from the beginning of the year are history. I feel stubborn, frustrated, pissed off, self-righteous and indulgent about my pleasures. I want to enjoy and enjoy and enjoy.

I can tell that I've slipped out of my heart. This anger has kinda taken over. I'm not doing stupid shit because of it, just being more difficult and distant with my family and mostly avoiding interactions with close friends. Everything and everyone annoys me!! It partially feels like a game that I could stop at any time, but in the same time it feels very serious and necessary.

Maybe I'm angry for having stayed attached for so long (9 years) to someone who doesn't want me; for having let myself stepped on, used, ignored (by my childhood best friend, my dad, Cristina, Morco, Isabella) (not blaming them, my passivity and my young-naive-kid behavior are pissing me off); for having given 5 years of my life to a college that didn't nourish my soul in the slightest; for having ignored my attraction to girls for so long; for having considered myself inferior and unworthy of love (still have some anger towards the ones who emotionally deprived me); for judging myself in comparison with other people and not daring to follow my own way, to do what I feel is good for me. FUCK THIS!!!

I like to be alone, I like astrology (fuck me, it feels so good to be able to be authentic, no more meaningless daily interactions at college with brainwashed positivists. See? I could've bee myself with them all along, but I didn't, I was too afraid or ashamed), I like girls, I'd rather do something for myself than for someone else. These are all truths for me.

I'm pissed off at my friends as well; when I feel that our friendship is just a huge stagnating game (with Adina; I'm sick of being coddled by her and I'm pissed off by her health complaints, her small interests, her and her friend's self-indulgent lifestyle) (as I am by my own- see, the self-hate game); when I'm tired of their emotional immaturity (Paul), their pretentious analysis of my psyche (Shane); I'm done with Isabella, at least that, I don't know how long I could've tolerated her anymore. I don't feel particularly kind nowadays. Yesterday I felt like beating dad up, I'm immensely pissed off at how he's so apparently spiritual and wise but he knows shit about himself, he doesn't see his emotional reactions, his defensiveness, addictions, vulnerability, he just covers them with philosophy. I'm fucking tired of listening to his bullshit. With mom I feel little emotional connection nowadays and my expectations of closeness and understanding are gone. It's a relief, no more neediness, yet in the same time I feel like I'm living with two strangers sometimes.

I'm dramatizing, I love them; but right now I need to find my own way. I guess this is what this anger's all about. Beyond all the blaming, which I know is a game (that I have to play to blow off some steam), I feel a deep need to trust myself, my path, the world. To stand alone and to truly connect. But mostly to stand alone right now.

It feels like a cold time, I don't identify with love, self-love, self-compassion, idealistic quotes about the universe; I want something more tangible, more practical and real. Maybe it has something to do with this abundance of Earth energy (Virgo, Saturn in Capricorn, Uranus in Taurus); I think there's even a Grand Earth Trine tomorrow! I'm tired of coddling myself and others, daydreaming, being addicted to fantasies, getting lost in fiction. I want to do something real and good, I want to work, experience, grow, while at the same time taking care of the one thing I found I truly need- solitude involving reflection, yoga, nature, shamanic journeys. That's the plan right now.

Tbh I'm not worrying about the weight issue. I feel like it will solve itself as I do my thing. I'll soon get the impulse to regulate my lifestyle better, again- then I'll follow it- then I'll slip- and so on, until something will crack or fall into place, my attitude will shift, the world will be a different place, and the whole cycle will start again, but this time on a plane that's a lil higher. That's all.

Long-term I want an astrology site and small business, but not right now. Maybe not even this year. I was thinking of a blog with general astro stuff, joined by a Facebook page where I post daily or weekly updates with cool pics. Maybe told in the form of stories. Maybe in a symbolic manner, using shamanic journeys or visions- I have trouble with interpretations anyway, maybe because I rely on logic too much and I get stuck. Maybe also an Instagram page with updates! Ahhh

While I keep studying - astro, dreams, tarot :)

01: When did you first start writing?

My first ever time writing stories was in 2nd grade; we wrote stories weekly in my class. The first time I began to consciously write and consider myself a writer was probably 8th grade.

02: What was your favorite book growing up?

Ahhhh so many. Series more than individual books. Starting from when I was really young, my iconic series were: Clifford the Big Red Dog, Henry and Mudge, Horrible Harry, A to Z Mysteries, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Nancy Drew, and The Chronicles of Narnia, to name a few.

03: Are you an avid reader?

Actual books? Not as much anymore. I’m too tired or busy. I read fanfics, though :p

Where the Red Fern Grows lol one of the only books to date to make me cry.

Writing-specific? No.

Freshman year of college. I had to take this like early-level English class, and the focus was on nonfiction writing and stuff like that. My professor often picked apart my papers because he didn’t like my writing style, especially not my prose, because he said it was way too florid (flowery or wordy). That made me really sad, but then I had another professor who taught a senior level class who LOVED my prose, so. It’s all relative. 

10: What’s your biggest writer pet-peeve?

Mmmmmmm when people use the same word over and over and over again (which, I am so guilty of, so that’s probs why it bugs me haha) Also too many short sentences. I literally can’t read something if the syntax isn’t varied enough to flow.

11: What’s your favorite book cover?

OOOOoooo I like this one! But sadly I don’t pay attention enough to have an answer to this...Citizen by Claudia Rankine has a pretty thought-provoking cover. I also like the Penguin Classics cover of The Crucible.

Quote about writing? This was an important one for me as a growing writer and person, tbh:

As far as writing, I assume....honestly, being involved in fandoms and writing fanfiction! I’m only where I am now because I read so many great writers and  adapted their good habits to my own.

I haven’t been a fan of a ton of books turned to screen productions, so that doesn’t help. I liked the Narnia movies until the Dawn Treader. I liked the ASOUE movie, and I’m still deciding how I feel about the Nextflix series. Other than those, I can’t think of any significant ones, to me lol

It’s give and take between both, usually characters, though.

Favorite is customization and how no one can tell you that your own OC is OOC.

You’re young. Don’t worry about being amazing at first. You’ll learn and you’ll grow. Online, ins a supportive community, is a good place to start.

I really like the characters in The Book Thief, To Kill a Mockingbird, and East of Eden. I just really like the personalities and characterizations of those characters.

I’d start a new A Series of Unfortunate Events series about little Beatrice.

I've been following the discussions about the Supergirl cast incident and your opinion that a large part of the issue is that the cast doesn't understand fandom culture, especially non-canon shipping. As someone involved in fandom for a few years now, but has never seriously shipped a non-canon couple, I would agree that fanon shipping is a subculture all its own. And tbh, it's one that I've never quite understood in spite of being actively involved in fandom for years. (1/5)

I’ve asked non-canon shippers why why choose their ship, and isn’t it frustrating to support a relationship that they never get to see on screen? The general answer has been that they HAVE to ship non-canon, b/c the relationships they want to see (usually LGBTQ relationships) aren’t represented by most shows. OK, fair enough. But I still didn’t really get it. I can honestly say that I’ve never sent hate to anyone for shipping non-canon – that’s not my style – but I didn’t really get it. (2/5)

I had a small light bulb moment recently, though. An anon sent hate to one of my shipmates over her fic, in which she portrayed the main female character as overweight. (The character is not overweight in canon.) Anon called the fic – and the character – gross and asked the writer why she would twist the character that way. I was indignant on behalf of my shipmate that she’d been insulted like that for a work of fiction, in which she should be able to express herself however she wants. (3/5)

Furthermore, as an overweight woman myself, I was infuriated that this anon implied that fat women have no place in romance stories. Don’t I have just as much right to see myself represented in fic, as the thin and conventionally beautiful women do? And that’s when I remembered all the comments from LGBTQ fans who ship non-canon couples and just want to see themselves on screen, and it clicked. (4/5)

I am NOT trying to say that these experiences are equivalent. I know that the LGBTQ community struggles more for representation than a straight, white, overweight woman. But this is the (very roundabout) way that I, someone who’s actually in fandom, came to understanding non-canon shipping a little better. So I’m not really surprised that the showrunners and casts of popular TV shows don’t get it. It’s very unfortunate that they don’t understand, but not surprising. (5/5)

It’s good that you found a way to understand this.  I do know that a lot of fandom doesn’t understand it either.  Especially when “boy slash” and femslash actually have different and basically unrelated subcultures.

I’d add two things for you.  The first is that often times the canon LGBT ships aren’t treated the same way as canon het ships.  There is never a will they wont they phase for us.  We are always told before the characters even appear on screen who the designated gay couple is and there will only be one of them so sucks for you if you don’t like them.  Could you imagine what your shipping experience would be like if you didn’t get a choice to about which elements of a couple you prefer or not.  Sucks to be you if you like the tropes around Captain Swan.  All you get on screen is Rumbelle.  And you have no hope of getting another couple.  LGBT ships are often less visibly affectionate.  A kiss is racey.  All this stuff about implied sex scenes that Once canon shippers are demanding?  Pipe dream for us even when we’re dealing with canon representation.  Oh… and time.  Straight people always seem to think the LGBT couple is on screen a lot longer than they actually are.  By something like 50%.  So we get no choice, a less full story, and half of it.  And that’s if you are shipping a canon LGBT couple.

Where as if you are shipping an non canon couple anything in the world is possible.  The other day I reblogged someone who said that fan fiction was the only place two women meet and immediately start flirting.  It’s the only place where no one has to have a coming out story or explain their gayness.  A non canon LGBT ship is literally the only way we can find the stories that are written equally to the ones you enjoy on screen because we write them ourselves.

Do I love canon LGBT couples?  Sure.  More of them please.  But let’s stop pretending that they’re equal or they should be enough.

And let’s stop treating non canon shippers like they’re naive fools.  No one needs you to tell them that their ship isn’t happening.  Even if they’re asking when it will be they’re having a fantasy life where they are safe and normal and they get to ask content creators when they’ll be getting something that you get given automatically.  Maybe the casts and the writers don’t want to be pestered.  But why are we prioritizing a minor annoyance over someone’s right to just have a tiny space to imagine that they might be safe and normal and accepted totally? 

So nonnie i’m going to leave you with a charge, you straight shipper, the next time you hear one of your ship mates say “well they’re just letting them down easy” or “telling them the truth” or “letting them know it wont happen” I’d like you to tell them to stop assuming they know better than the non canon lgbt shipper.

Just introduce yourself, spend some time researching and praying, find out what works for you. Not every deity is going to mesh with you, and you won't mesh with every deity. 94. What techniques do you use to ‘get in the zone’ for meditation? Binaural beats or music! I have to lay down, I can't sit up and meditate. 95. Did visualization come easily to you or did you have to practice at it? I'd say it came easily, though it takes a bit for me to concentrate and not let my ADD ass wander off. 96.
