tbh ive been meaning to do this on my main blog bc I take these wayyy too seriously lol but ANYWAY heres my top 10 faves (in no particular order) that I can think of (tbh theres prob more i forgot about, or i wanted to keep only 1 per fandom... except tgcf)

do i even need to explain this one? loyal to a fault, just a cute lil puppy, one hell of a sculpted archers back, and he's head over heels in love with Xie Lian (but tbh same) i have a lot of thoughts about him on a daily basis on this blog (and also theres the #fx backstory au tag)

2. Noé Archiviste (the Case Study of Vanitas)

the absolute bestest boy of EVER... with a LOAD of unprocessed trauma (yknow the typical stuff like seeing your childhood bff get decapitated in front of you) and a lot more to come once we find out how he kills his boyfriend best friend, Vanitas...

look... theres *gojo girlies* uwu and then theres GOJO GIRLIES... i couldn't give 2 shits about how he's fan-serviced (tho im not complaining) but have you SEEN the amount of grief pumped into that man? he could explode in a fit of fucking insanity at literally any moment and take the whole goddamn world down with him bc what happened with suguru WASNT FAIR to him and satoru has more than enough power to go apeshit... but he DOESN'T... even after losing so many of his co-sorcerers... he still puts on a brave face to the end in order to protect the childhood of his students even tho his own youth was stolen from him during hidden inventory...

i read the manga during my last year of uni and when i tell you i SOBBED at the end... yes ofc for obvious reasons, but mostly bc my little Levi loses EVERYTHING. He is the SOLE survivor of the veteran scouts. He's missing multiple fingers, an eye, and the ability to walk. He was the strongest (yowaimo) but wasn't even granted the mercy to die at the end of his narrative! Broke my fucking heart.

so anyways we all know that martin has been working at the archives since he was 18, right? 10 years of gertrude robinson shenanigans that he probs never saw cuz he was in the library. yknow who else was around? gerard keay

imagine. bby martin, 18, who very much doesnt give a shit abt anything tbh, especially not himself, climbs atop a local library he likes (which is illegal but he doesnt care, hes chilling alright), working other jobs alongside the institute to pay for his mum's care and himself, stressed af, also still very much a teenager just trying his best, very unwell and it shows (but thats good cuz at least nobody questions his age too much)

also imagine. gerry coming up to the library, and very much seeing a?? person??? on top of it??? and goes "wtf" and climbs it, this somehow being the most interesting thing to happen despite all the shit from his mum, young but still a few years older than marto boy (4 years is my personal hc, so he's 22)

gerry sees martin and thinks "goddamn, its mental illness innit", notices martin is petting. a falcon?? what?? like its normal, and just kinda. strucks up conversation cuz martin looks very much like shit. also he's got a big bird in his lap (this is my crack hc that martin is like a disney princess)

martin, bless him, is very depressed and also tired and also doesnt have the energy to even smile so he just blankly looks at gerry and goes "oh what the hell, sure, he's hot why not" and proceeds to get a tiny wittle crush on gerry for the few months they meet in the library

gerry is fond of martin but thats it, doesnt want attachments, not with this lifestyle, not with his mother being a fucking greedy motherfucker, besides it only causes trouble. and he's not fooled, he knows martin is a bby. he hopes he gets better, cuz hes a nice kid

then gerry needs to deal wish some entities shit, he a busy boy as well, and he'll be away a little bit. he's trying to be more independent and find his own cases and shit without his mom, now that he knows her intentions and doesnt want her legacy. he wants his own. and sadly that means leaving martin alone for a little while

martin is very fucking upset but doesnt show it cause. well. he knows its not fair. he's grown to like gerry a lil bit and he's the only friend he's got. and now he's gonna be gone.

gerry wishes him good luck and tells him "take care of yourself yeah? if not for you, then for me." and that alone fills martin with some determination to actually get better. he doesnt know when gerry will be back, so he'll just. get better. he'll try. for gerry.

truly what happens is that he gets two years older and just a lot more accepting of what he's living in, so he jsut naturally gets better just by living basically the same way. he tries to take walks more tho, and starts writing again, cuz why not, gets into witchcraft again cuz he missed it (also a hc of mine, kinda crack, kinda serious), starts making tea for himself and then his coworkers

by 20, almost 21, he's still unwell per say, he's still depressed, but at least he's trying to do things he likes. thats what counts, hes trying. and he likes that. also he got a bit taller. and bigger, one of his jobs is kinda physically taxing so it just happens naturally

so when gerry comes back and sees martin smile at him, which never fucking happened before, also hes taller. and has muscle on his arms. and more freckles, look at that wow "i like men" basically

its kinda like, love at second sight, and gerry doesnt know how he feels abt it, so he procrastinates dealing with those feelings and just befriends martin all over again.

martin, for his part, had moved on from gerry a lil bit, but now the crush is back at full force, gerry looks cool, has new piercings, new tattoos?? his hair is still horribly dyed and he bullies gerry for it and this is when gerry finds out martin is a bit of a bitch, and also mean, and its cute

oo yeah, the stark differences in eng fics on ao3 and those that i’ve read in websites like pixiv/ weibo/ lofter/ typesetters is a high-context asian subtle/implicit intimacy vs low-context western loud/explicit intimacy (1)

tho ,, i think the setting (character + environment + time) and the prompt (au? canon? romance? slice of life? epic?) play into it. i think the differences that exist between portrayals of intimacy by east asian authors and by western authors largely stem from cultural philosophy, which could make some things jarring to those unfamiliar with either

tbh i'm the type of person who, when reading lit abt supposedly asian characters, would appreciate the story more if it was also true to the characters' culture, and so i'd also like to see them experience and understand love the same way asians experience and understand love. but that's just me (i know there are diaspora who like to see other things), and that's also for a concept that's more for peaceful romance/character-centric settings. it’d be a different case if the story is plot-driven, or historical, or apocalyptic

i personally prefer the nuance of intimacy in pieces by east asians bc that's what i like to see and what i'm familiar with. but either way, i don't mind the differences exist. it just means that there's a variety to all of our experiences. as long as it's written into the narrative in an organic manner, it will still feel like a love i can appreciate, whether romantic or platonic or anything in between.

the whiplash was intense when i opened a fic bc i was curious or bored (or both rly) and then boom, untagged daddy kink. SHSHS it makes me giggle sumtimes, since he’s a jpnese character, when it comes to gojou, bc personally i just can't imagine him calling anyone any kind of petname unless it means to fuck with them,,, like, for eg, in stsg fic i just can't vibe with gojou calling suguru anything but his name, but that's just me and largely the way i interpret their characters, and it's just nice to know that all the authors of jp/cn/kr fic i've read before feel the same way more or less ,, but that's it HSJJSJS if someone else decides they want gojou calling suguru this or that, then that's like, alright. that's what they want to write and see, yk, and there's nothing wrong with that, i'll just swerve respectfully lmao

also for pdas,, i think it definitely depends on the age of the couple and the setting

like, if they're a campus couple, pda is pretty common. handholding, picking each other up from class, study dates in the library/courtyard/cafe, going to drinking parties together, that sort of thing.

the most common petname i've heard cn campus couples use is "baobao/baobei" (寶寶/寶貝), which means precious/baby/darling. for jp couples, tbrh i've never heard anything ,, my friends and cousins don't use petnames either

honestly,,, if u're cn/jp and u're dating someone ur age or younger, u'd probs call them by their given name or a nickname with an affectionate prefix/suffix (小，阿，兒 etc or the norm ちゃん, くん, さん, 先輩/ 輩先 suffix) and ig u could call that a petname. if u're dating someone older than u, then u'd call them (insert name)-san or senpai/jie/ge if u and they want, and that would show how close u are. some ppl date and call each other by their full names, too, and even with honourifics. and some ppl use just their partner's given names.

for kr,, idk much but i think it’s usually 이,야,아 etc and noona/oppa/unni/hyung ????

for older couples, like married couples or people who are working, pda tends to lean towards petnames. "sweetheart", "honey", "wife/husband", that sort of thing. if they're parents, they'd probably call each other "dad", "mum" (I NEVER HEARD MY OWN PARENTS NAME LEAVING THEIR LIPS WHEN THEY ADDRESS THE OTHER)

but if its pda like,, making out in public, i don't think it's very common. i've never seen it shhsjsjs (arm holding can be rewarded with a stink eye from the conservatives elderly (mostly), from where i came from)

in fic, it's abt the same, which means it would depend on the age/setting/couple's preference with the addition of the author's preference which just,,, uh shows , ig

yes!!!! there’s a lot of reasons why i enjoy stsg fics and it’s because gojo and geto are always treated like people in stsg fics.....i’ve found that in a lot of reader insert fics you could replace gojo and geto with the male lead of those mafia boss stories on wattpad and it wouldn’t make a difference LMAO gojo and geto are often caricatures of themselves and it’s just something i’m personally not interested in.

also....i feel like there’s so much intimacy in how someone calls/says your name that just using pet names 24/7 gives it this superficial sense that i’m not really a fan of but then again, in fwb stories i totally understand.

another thing, I really feel like culture DOES play into it. obviously as asian people ourselves who come from a collectivist culture, our idea of love is different from the western concept of love. i feel like this especially comes into play when we see reader insert stories where the MC is super op and strong just so they can “match” gojo and gojo doesn’t need to worry about them even though it’s not even needed!! in asian cultures it’s not a burden to take care of people. it’s love. and i feel like western people don’t quite grasp that bc it’s such an individualist culture (this is a not nuanced at all / a generalization but u get the point)

id say that the events of the start of bnha p much happen as in like the whole sludge/slime monster and meeting all might

and we get the rooftop scene but instead when all might is asked if izuku can be a quirkless hero he hesitates for a moment but, knowing the answer HE wanted to hear, he says yes. or p much says yes

izuku isnt outright discouraged like in canon. i think all might though isnt the most motivated person about it bc that wasnt the case for him but he also knows what kids want to hear.. buuut also he like.. doesnt want this kid hurting himself

izuku sees small might form and all that but yeah he’s fucking determined

and id say the same shit with izuku running out to fight happens but when he’s heading home after being admonished he runs into small might and-

p much yagi grabs this kid by the scruff of his neck and is like you CAN be a hero without a quirk but please for the love of god do not go running into fights like that again. 

and so like in canon all might trains him BUT it’s not exactly to pass down his quirk. all might doesnt TELL him about his quirk but low key feels like this kid has the potential and shit. trains his body and shit before his entrance exams and all that and like in canon he ends up trying to pass on his quirk before the exam

this time though, upon izuku now finding out the truth of all might’s quirk, he.. declines. he’s like thank you but no thanks. i’ve thought about this for a while and like.. i want to do this without a quirk. without help

(later though bc it’s izuku he’s in his room fucking screaming internally because he turned down being all might’s successor WTF IS WRONG WITH HIM??? but dw this was a Good choice)

izuku is like.. mei’s fucking playgroud. it’s free realestate!! he is fucking insane and they become friends and he tries out her babies and really he just gets some kick ass support items. the support items arent everything but i mean they really help. between mobility and so on. and like this kid can pack a PUNCH/kick so like having his steeltoed boots and like brass knuckle equivalents etc help make it that much worse

anyway so sports festival ?? oh man!!! 

so for the sports festival honestly izuku didnt use his quirk much in canon ANYWAY so like easy translation imo. he uses his big ass nerdy brain !!!

but then we still get the scene between todoroki and him and when they get out there to duke it out like.. we still get that lovely “it’s your quirk” shit 

i think it’s a lotta just izuku using his brain to avoid being fucking frosted and like him getting some Good Hits in on shouto. 

he does loose. it’s not as explosive as the canon fight but he def sacrifices his own chance of proving himself even more by getting in the top three to just.. help shouto. bc that’s just who he is though and through

shouto may have gone a bit overboard and once again izuku ends up with a shattered arm. so worth it tho

(also listen i may not get to that point in all this but todomido/tododeku is a THING 10000% in this au)

Hii! You have a lot of fics and I can't decide where to start, so do you have any recommends for new readers where to begin??

Ha ha, I suppose this could end up being an issue in some cases, if like, you discover me through my art on tumblr first, then find out about the whole writing bit and decide to go check them out. I think most(?) have discovered me through my writing, so they already have a fic they’ve read first.

I guess for new readers, if you are open to start from anywhere (mostly I recommend just picking whatever seems to interest you the most at that moment) I’d probs say Reanimate, as it was the first fic ever I made for the fandom, and it has some characters that may pop up in some of my other fics. Not all but some. (Heads up tho, Reanimate being my oldest, it probably has more errors and typos, I haven’t gotten around to fixing that one yet given I’ve been so busy. I will eventually do that, hopefully)

To summarize that fic; Adult Izuku ends up transferred into the body of his teenager self in another world, where Tenko was saved and raised by All Might and thus is actually friends with him, and together they try to figure out wtf happened and get him home. Tenko’s dating Dabi/Touya but his dad doesn’t know about this at first in the story, as Tenko’s hiding it for reasons that the fic explains.

After that you can just sorta go whatever story you feel like.

Fantasy stuff? I got four fics for that; Depths (more serious and angsty but has fluff moments) the Neighbor (modern setting with fantasy elements.) unravel (Kitsune Tomura, unraveling a mystery and whacking people with his tail) and Soul Duality (not my favorite tbh, kind of a modern au with demon stuff of sorts. Readers still seem to like it tho)

Hardcore big brothering simulator with some romance on the side and character development? Crossroads got you covered.

More dramatic and chaotic romance that leads to surprising reveals, and Tomura being a dramatic musician? Violinist

Domesticated retired supervillain being a dad and adopting all the troubled kids in the nation? Family Secrets. Also baby Izuku and lil Tenko being adorbs and Inko is best mom

Also yeah, I mean, if you follow my tumblr this is probs obvious, but for majority of the fics, Shigadabi is the main pairing even if its not always the central focus. FS is the only exception, though I did plan Tenko start dating Touya/Dabi in the sequel. It’s not gonna be the main focus of the said sequel either, as primary focus is on Tenko himself (and Izuku, but not as much) and the romance thing is more gonna be another aspect of his life.

......In hindsight I think I often write it like that? Not as the main focus but just another important relationship Tomura has in his life. I think the only purely Shigadabi centric fics are Depths and Violinist. The Neighbor is close second to those but it also has a lot of other stuff.

I think that’s all non-connected/non-one-shots....?

so meeting you,, and finding out you’re going for the same faculty after your undergrad course ,,,. then you being genuinely comfortable with him and his jokes and openly willing to accept his humour

smiling when he finds you in the crowd, picking up his bag from the floor and making his way over to you to walk into the lecture together

and you decide hm? he sticks around, i’ll stick around

on a separate occasion in some study session he’s like

“are you my appendix because i have no idea how you work, but the feeling in my stomach makes me want to take you out”

and you’re like “wow looks like you went ahead in the course donghyuk we don’t have human anatomy until next year. but how’s tmr at 7”

it’s been a month since the whole south korea knew about the reestablishment of their monarchy with haechan rightfully claiming his place

it was also painfully obvious that the crowned prince has heart eyes for kim yeri and you’re not saying he’s been gushing over her for a month

the dreamies probably knew what yeri’s family’s lineage was by now

or how yeri likes her frappucino in starbucks

caramel frappucino with java chips, non-fat milk, still with whip

“somehow you don’t have to open your mouth to make my head hurt,” you cut through haechan’s daily rant on how yeri looks perfect wearing the school uniform which is ridiculous tbh

you’re wearing your school uniform yet he doesn’t notice you one bit but instead, your best friend makes snide remarks on the faded ketchup stain on the it you got weeks ago

renjun pops out from god knows where and sits in between you and haechan. you notice the dark bags under renjun’s eyes.

his words came out sluggishly, “it’s been an ugly day, guys. tell me something beautiful.”

yup, you were done with this whole kim yeri fiasco so you grabbed your backpack in a swift motion, leaving the dreamies dazed and confused

“i’m eating her food,” haechan announced in case chenle swipes your lunch

mark scoffs, glaring at the prince then muttering a “wow, so insensitive” under his breath before grabbing his things to search for you

the rest of the dreamies looks back at haechan silently chomping down your food. haechan shrugged, “what”

somehow the empty classroom at the abandoned fifth floor enveloped you in a weird sense of comfort though it was deemed to be haunted by most students. this had become your safe place when you didn’t want a proper interaction with another human being. 

throwing chalks from a distance, you released all your pent up distress towards the board. you heard a slight shuffling from the hallway. maybe this was a haunted classroom.

 “breaking chalks? is this how you relax?” mark asks, leaning against the door frame

you roll your eyes at him, “be thankful i’m not throwing a fit like the hulk”

mark finds a chair by the corner of the room, afraid you’ll throw something heavier than the chalk you were holding.

“may i ask why you’re here? this is a haunted place y’know”

“shut up mark, i don’t believe in ghosts. plus, i’ve had enough with yeri and her pretty eyelashes, her pretty uniform, her pretty new lip tint, her pretty new hairstyle, pretty kim yeri”

“sounds like haechan wants to be a kim yeri to me”

mark hears the desperation in your voice so he walks towards you, gets the chalk in your hand, and flicks it somewhere else. one minute you were standing side by side. the next minute, your face was buried on his chest, inhaling the sweet vanilla scent of his perfume.

“i’m jealous, mark, and i hate it.” you confess. “it feels like he’s rejecting me with every pretty kim yeri rant he does”

your voice came out muffled which sent vibrations across mark’s chest. he giggles.

“what a whiny baby”

you break from the hug and sent a glare to which mark found adorable

“who’s a whiny baby?”

“there you are!!! i’ve been looking all over the campus for you,” haechan remarks nonchalantly. he drags you out of the room before absently sending mark a look you can’t seem to comprehend.

haechan hauls you all the way to the field. his long strides didn’t let your short legs (compared to his) match with his quick pace.

you break from his vice-like grip on your wrist. “what the fuck are you up to now, hyuck? if you’re looking for someone to listen to your--”

everything inside the grand banquet was exquisite, like made out of gold exquisite, resplendent, and just really stunning. families from high-class societies, politicians, and royal families from other countries swarmed the venue with their classy suits and gowns and matching fancy jewelries,

and yet, here you are, looking like a garbage bag with studded fake gold earrings

you feel like a fish out of water hearing girls around your age asking each other who the designer was for their gowns, their tropical island hopping and how they practically hid from the sun so their skin would remain milky white

they also enthused about prince donghyuck’s exotic looks. hypocrite little bitches talking about hyuck’s skin color.

you were busy cursing the girls inside your head, you barely even noticed haechan standing right in front of you

“you look so...” haechan trailed off right about time when you snapped your head towards his voice

you wanted the ground to swallow you whole when you heard the girls suppress their snickers. you put a lot of thought into your whole outfit ever since he invited you. haechan was being an asshole and it definitely got to your nerves.

“you could’ve asked yeri instead of embarrassing me in front of them, loser. i didn’t want to be here anyway.”

“i can’t do that”

“why the hell not? you’re haechan, you’ve got an ego bigger than a balloon.”

“i was gonna ask her but it’s more convenient for me to ask you, okay”

that hurt. so much. for him, you were just convenience. he wasn’t even willing to bring you to the gala.

haechan scrunched his face, bewildered at your reaction. you feel your heart going to burst any second and not in a good way. this was all too much for one evening.

“why are you getting worked up? you know what, i don’t understand you these days. you’re always throwing a fit. you’re acting so immature.”

maybe you were acting immature and maybe, you also had feelings for him that you can’t even conceal anymore at this point.

“c’mon, you’re my best friend. you should be of convenience.”

just as you were about to walk past the doors of the banquet, you heard the host introduce your best friend as “your royal highness, prince donghyuck”

what you heard next shot chills down your spine and tears forming in your eyes, threatening to fall down at any moment

“and bethrothed to the prince, your grace, duchess yeri of seoul”

that was enough for you to end up on the entrance steps of the royal mansion, sobbing your heart away. haechan claimed you as his best friend but spoke none of this matter to you. it would have been nice to confess your heart out to him before all of this arranged marriage thing just so you could let go of the feelings you had for him 

but that’s not how life works, honey

“wanna get out of here?”

you glance at the owner of the voice, mascara streaming down alongside your tears. mark plastered a warm smile, almost apologetic, as he held out his palm for you to clasp.

“aren’t you gonna support your best friend?” you choked on your words a little but a sense of bitterness still escaped

“i’ve done enough supporting for the night. let’s go get chocolate ice cream.” mark winks at you playfully, making you feel a bit better on the inside.

with that, you gladly followed his steps, hand clasping the other like you were gonna wobble when mark lets go.
