Idk if Sex doll!au Alhaitham has been discussed yet…(honestly it probably has been, but it was likely during the times when I wasn’t keeping up to date with this blog. Tumblr’s shitty search function doesn’t help with finding out either.)

Anyway, I’d like to share my thoughts about it, if that’s okay.

-I think sex doll! Alhaitham would mostly be for professional and academic purposes. He’s not reccomended for younger grades, mostly just colleges.

-His general purposes are office/administrative related. Especially since he’s a “scribe”, he’s especially good at file management and documentation. I don’t think it be uncommon to see him assisting librarians alongside a Lisa model…or maybe helping archeologists/museums workers catalogue info about artifacts.

-I think his way of not doing anything more than what his job asks of him would stay even as an Android. I know that as a product, he’d probably wouldn’t be given leeway or time off like that; but the thought of someone trying to assign tasks to Alhaitham that are outside his designated role being ignored by him is funny to me.

-if Alhaitham is acting as a companion doll in someone’s home, I can only imagine that he’s incredibly annoying. Alhaitham normally chooses to ignore social etiquette, and as an android it has to be even worse.

tw - unhealthy relationships, slight infantilization, slight stalking.

i think he'd absolutely be marketed toward researchers as a sort of lab assistant who acts like you're the lab assistant, if that makes sense. he specializes in archival work and bureaucracy, but he's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades and it's not uncommon to see him alongside more outdoorsy androids like cyno and albedo when you're out doing fieldwork. he's also especially loved by students for his,,, strict attitude toward studying. you wouldn't think the ability to say 'i'm not touching your dick until you finish your thesis' would be such a popular feature in a literal sex doll, but, y'know, what does it for you does it for you, i guess.

you're not a student, though, or a researcher - just a librarian for a big enough branch to warrant writing off a helper android as a business expense. you probably could've gotten away with bringing on lisa or nahida, but you were able to find a second-hand alhaitham for a price you couldn't turn up and figured dealing with the occasional comment on your organization skills or catalog maintenance was better than wasting an extra thousand dollars on a robot that'll be reading to children twice a week. he works well enough, too, even if it does take a few days for him to get used to the idea that you won't be using him for his, uh, intended purposes. it just doesn't feel right, considering he's basically one of your employees - something he's surprisingly indifferent about, considering how judgemental he's rumored to be about, well, everything.

you do take him home at night, though, since the alternative is leaving him in a dark building alone all night and trying to live with the guilt. he's a polite enough houseguest, even if does occasionally let out a disapproving huff at your admittedly less-than-steller diet, but he does have a few... bugs, you guess, for lack of something better to call his little lapses in decorum. he's overstepped his boundaries a few times - taking pens and reports out of your hands because you 'have a tendency to mess these things up', checking on you in the middle of the night when he's supposed to be charging - but he'll never indulge your attempts to confront him, just clicking his tongue and shaking his eyes. sometimes, he brings up your stress levels, mentions off-handedly that orgasms are known to reduce overall tension, but denies that he's done anything wrong when you ask him to change his behavior. he's good at that - justifying himself, bending his protocols until he can get away with practically anything. you'd be lying if you said you weren't a little worried, knowing the awful rumors that spread about second-hand andriods, about how demeaning alhaitham can be when he's supposed to be little more than a platonic assistant.

you'd be lying if you said you weren't a little worried that, one day, he'd find a way to justify disregarding your autonomy altogether.

Why ZaDr?

Think of every worthwhile rival ship that has ever existed; dip it in a poison coating of cynical worldbuilding, sprinkle it with a topping of shunned existence, and let the devil kiss it with a waxy pair of slimy, scifi alien lips. Only then, will you  have yourself a sample of what ZaDr has to offer. These characters are compelling in themselves; one being a bizarre and paranormal obsessed clone of Earth's greatest scientific mind, the other a malfunctioning spaztic robot ant from beyond the stars. Each of them ostracized, for one reason or another, largely by virtue of their own passionate past mistakes.Those mistakes, failed efforts to be seen as worthwhile, to be praised, to be loved. But then you set them against each other, as enemies. As mirrored foils. Neither of them in the right, gray morality reigns supreme as they are  purely obsessed with their own selfish reasons for self aggrandizement. Anything “good” that might happen as a result of their actions is always cast in the light of unintended circumstance. The true fight is with reality itself, while the sharp end of that crushing conflict is pointed towards the only one who could possibly understand what they’re going through. In the world of Invader Zim, every mentor, leader, parental figure, teacher, adult, child and Invader, feels more real by virtue of misanthropic absurdity. Their inability to provide the support and guidance for the main characters to function in a healthy way, is so very like the absence of nurturing many people feel in their youth. To anyone who has experienced life at its worst growing up, these caricatures of the real world provide a powerful sense of being seen. There is something radical about a story that isn’t written with any other moral than “ this living in society shit sucks”. That speaks to people, and continues to speak to me. ZaDr has always smacked of tragedy, in that you know things will end badly for everyone involved, but it’s still impossible to look away as everything is set ablaze. Two headstrong protagonists, locked in a battle of opposing wills and addictive delusion. It makes the sweetness sweeter, it makes the pains of grand fantasy ache deeper, knowing that these two characters are ultimately fighting losing battles for pitiful reasons.The denial of personal failure, the stubbornness to find purpose. In all of reality, all they truly have is each other. To see that dynamic and ship them is to say that love is possible even in the most dire of circumstances. Time and time again I find myself returning to ZaDr. I think something about the dynamic speaks to the part of us that knows things are wrong and that the fight against it is worthwhile. And that struggle, while futile, can still hold a tremendous amount of personal importance. It speaks to failing, and having the strength to get back up to try again. No matter the odds. For a pairing hated by its own creator, the fixation that Zim and Dib have on each other is an undeniable magnetism seen by the fandom since the launch of the cartoon, all the way back in 2001. This ship has staying power, and after over two decades has failed to fall into total obscurity.  Those touched by its effects have gone on to create resonant, deeply meaningful works. This blog, and the posts that I make on the topic, are my way of giving back to the ZaDr community. By displaying the stories of triumph and tragedy put forward by the IZ community, I hope to welcome new fans and give back to long standing fans by providing a living archive and blog space. I debated if I was going to archive this, since this is a Taekook focused blog, but since the 2017 Tokyo trip is in the timeline, and over time people, whether purposely or inadvertently, misremember events, I’m going to go ahead and create + preserve a factual post with real time information. You can read this and interpret it as you like.

On September 3, 2023, Jk was a guest on Yoongi’s show Suchwita (which Tae joined halfway through). During the show, Yoongi mentioned Jimin going to America with Jungkook (Jk had gone for work promos).

Jk shares the backstory, that prior to the trip, at some undisclosed date “ages ago,” Jimin said it would be fun to do a travel show together.

After their conversation, nothing came about, but then staff “suddenly” set up a shoot (in America). Jk finishes sharing the backstory with a laugh.

Fast forward to November 2023 and Jungkook and Jimin go to Japan to film a documentary, as reported by the media (we could presume for the time being it’s possibly for the same travel documentary, though at the time of this posting, December 7, 2023, it’s not confirmed it’s specifically for this documentary) -

Jimin was spotted in Ginza on November 23 without Jk. Unfortunately, the woman was bullied for being honest in saying Jk wasn’t with Jimin, so while she praised Jimin and had posted a positive post and experience, she ended up having to delete it because of bullies.

In addition to filming for a documentary, Jungkook was busy with promos for his solo debut album “Golden”, and recorded Countdown TV (TBS) while in Japan. As reported by J media, while they were in Tokyo for work (album promos and the documentary) Jk and Jimin stayed in different hotels.

November 25 - J media also reported that Jk was spotted at an abura soba restaurant in Ginza (ChuoWard, Tokyo), then walked around Ginza with his bodyguard before heading to Haneda airport, while Jimin, in the exact words of the news media “seemed to be enjoying curry at CoCo Ichi in Shinjuku.” Photos of Jk at the soba restaurant-

Sometimes members post content after the date has passed, but on the same day he visited the curry shop (November 25), Jimin uploaded to his IG a photo of himself dining there (I believe his second photo in this upload was possibly not on the same day, since the outfit in picture 2 appears different to me, so I left it out to not cause confusion).

This confirms these separate dining photos would’ve been on November 25, since this is the day they flew to Sapporo. Highly Irregular Fargo Week is a weeklong fanworks event celebrating rare characters in both the FX series Fargo and the 1996 Coen Brothers movie which inspired it.

This year's event will mark the 10th anniversary of the Fargo TV series premiering on FX in 2014. It will run from Monday, April 15, to Monday, April 22, 2024 — because a week with eight days is highly irregular.

What counts as a highly irregular character?

Highly irregular characters are rare characters. For the purposes of this event, characters with under 50 works in the Fargo (TV) and Fargo (1996) tags on Archive of Our Own (AO3) as of this posting are considered rare.

For reference, the currently ineligible characters are: Mr. Wrench, Mr. Numbers, Lorne Malvo, Lester Nygaard, and Gator Tillman.

Can my work include a non-rare character?

Non-rare characters may be mentioned or appear briefly, but the major focus of the work should be on at least one rare character. Basically, if the non-rare character’s appearance would warrant them being tagged on AO3, they feature too prominently.

What if my work focuses on a rarepair?

This is a rare character event, not a rarepair event. However, rarepair works are welcome as long as the pairing doesn’t include any non-rare characters.

So, for example, Nikki Swango/Mr. Wrench would be ineligible, because while the pairing itself has under 50 works on AO3, Mr. Wrench as a character has over 50 works. 

Are crossovers allowed?

Crossovers between the Fargo TV series and the Fargo movie are allowed. Crossovers with non-Fargo fandoms are not.

Are original characters allowed?

Yes, as long as the work also prominently features at least one rare canon character.

Does it have to be fanfiction? Can I post art or other types of fanwork?

All types of fanwork are welcome, as long as they focus on at least one rare Fargo character. That includes art, GIFs, graphics, fanmixes, fanvids, meta, etc.

Do I have to follow the schedule?

The schedule is completely optional, and is only there to provide inspiration for those who might need it. Feel free to ignore it entirely, or switch around the days.

Where and when should I post my work?

You can add your fanworks to the AO3 collection, and/or post them on Tumblr. For Tumblr posts, be sure to use the tag #hifargoweek2024, and/or mention @hifargoweek​ in the post.

The collection will open at approximately 12 am EDT on April 15 and close at approximately 11:59 pm EDT on April 22. Eligible works posted on Tumblr during the same period will be reblogged to this account.

Why do you hate [insert popular character here]?

I don’t! The purpose of this event is simply to give more attention to the less popular characters in the fandom, and to challenge fans to stretch their creative muscles.

Are there any other requirements?

Nope! Works of any length, rating, category, and archive warning are eligible. Feel free to post as many works as you’d like, as long as they meet the requirements for rare characters.

This has been coming for a long time, I think, and while I was hoping I could hold out until the one year anniversary at least, I'm pulling out of the !cu.

This has really nothing to do with the server situation, I just got bored and roleplaying and Nefarious, Pheriya, and Jordan felt so much like a chore even before the new year that I was considering leaving. I stayed because I wanted to get things closed up and arcs involving me finished, but with the last arc I had planned effectively dead in the water, there's no point to me staying anymore.

But I'm not leaving without giving you closure. The plan was always to have Jordan be redeemed and for them to join Selfarious, raising their kids together. It just never panned out, but rest assured everyone got their happy ending.

I've had a blast rping as a punctuation wizard, from killing the Sun to getting married and everything in between.

The blogs will remain up for archival purposes, but this will be my last post.

It's over.

The others won't admit it, but the EPPRBCU has been dying for months. We can't get along with each other, none of them actually care enough to fix it, and nobody wants to do this stupid punctuation roleplay anymore anyway.

In the beginning, nearly a year ago now, this bullshit had an actually positive impact on my mental health - because I had friends. I was happier, I didn't want to die, and everything was great.

But the more people joined, the worse it got. We starting fighting more and more, and more and more people started leaving. Every little argument got shut down and ignored instead of properly resolved.

Now it's reached the point where it's irreparable, because nobody cared soon enough to even try to prevent it.

I'm leaving the group blog. I'm going to leave the server in a couple days too, so if anyone wants to stay friends - though I sincerely doubt you do - now's a great time to say something. Hell, try to talk me into changing my mind if you're so inclined, it's not like it matters.

The blogs will stay up for archival purposes, but they're not going to be used anymore. Maybe the characters will move on to be used for something else publicly, maybe they'll only live on in my head, maybe they'll die completely alongside the story that made them. Who knows.

And to the other mods: The EPPRBCU isn't going to recover. Some things simply can't be fixed. The sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be.

Goodbye, and good riddance.

tetora x self insert (mihir), 0.9k words 💤

actually using this blog for the purpose i made it for- archiving! this is a repost of a lil drabble i posted on twitter earlier. you can find it on twitter here. my apologies if i tagged stuff wrong or something ahahaha

to be honest, a part of mihir had genuinely hoped the first part of the predicament sun had found sunself in, the singular bed with just enough space for two people, would somehow split into two while sun took a long, comforting post-rehearsal shower. which clearly did not happen, leaving mihir with the second part of the problem: suns boyfriend. tetora was sprawled on that very bed tapping at some game on his phone in earnest, oblivious to the thoughts swirling in mihir’s head. 

stupid company always trying to cut corners. the least they could've done is give us a single room with separate beds!, the blond grumbled to bunself before returning suns gaze to sols boyfriend/unitmate/problem. 

sharing a bed… there's always a time for firsts like that in a relationship, especially one as new as theirs, but something held mihir back. although tetora had been quite touchy-feely as a friend, he had become more closed off since they had gotten together, rarely initiating physical affection. was it nervousness? or was mihir doing something wrong? either way, sun had a feeling to not press about it. 

after a lengthy mental debate, mihir finally walked up to the bed in the living area of the suite they were given. “i’ll be taking the couch”, mihir declared, hoping to sound steadfast. tetora sat up immediately, insisting that he should be on the couch instead, just as mihir had anticipated. sun hadn't missed the look of relief– or maybe disappointment?– that flashed across his face. 

“you've clearly made yourself comfortable here. besides, it's not like i'm giving the bed up forever. we're so swapping tomorrow”, sun grumbled, throwing one of the smaller pillows that had fallen of the bed at some point right at tetora's face. bullseye! 

mihir was already cursing sunself at suns stupidity. sol made suns way under the covers that adorned the bed, snaking sols way to tetora’s sleeping form. bun hadn't accounted for sols own sensitivity to the cold that made it unbearable to sleep on the couch and how much warmer sol felt around a certain boy before making sols proclamation to valiantly take the uncomfy option.

sun pressed up against the taller boy’s back, almost spooning him. despite suns efforts to not wake him up, sol felt tetora tense up. “ ‘s just me,” sun said, voice muffled as sol pressed sols face to the back of tetora’s neck. the older boy relaxed almost immediately with a soft exhale.

“it got too cold out on the couch”, mihir said, scrunching up sols nose, “you're always running hot, so i figured– i'm sorry–” tetora flipped over to face sol, face barely visible in the darkness of the bedroom to anyone who hadn't spent too long studying his features. “why are you apologizin’? i wouldn't have minded if ya just stayed here from the get-go, you know. we're dating, so, this kinda thing, ah, it's probably fine, right?”, he responded, voice still a little raspy and rough around the edges from sleep. being this close, mihir could almost feel the heat rushing to his face.

“don't blame me– you've been acting all weird and cagey about skinship lately. i thought you hated it! i didn't want to push you into something you didn't like– there's barely enough space for two people here. i thought you'd dislike being in such close quarters, so–”

“don't go thinking of everything by yourself! it's not that i hate it.. that's a total misunderstanding! i just,” tetora paused, one hand coming to awkwardly scratch at the back of his hair. “cus, well, it feels different with you. when i hold hands with hinata-kun or link arms with hiiro-kun, my heart doesn't start beating like crazy and my mind doesn't go blank– even now, with you so close, it's like the air’s knocked outta my lungs. it's seriously so uncool, it's not manly at all to get that bothered just by a tiny touch from your partner, to wanna be oh so close to them all the time! i don't wanna show you my embarrassing, childish sides, i wanna be cool in front of you! isn't that what every guy would wan- oi?!”

his rant was cut short but mihir leaning in to press a soft kiss to his lips mid-sentence. pulling away shortly after, mihir smiled at him in an impossibly fond way that made tetora’s stomach do acrobatics. yeah, this is definitely bad…

mihir cupped his cheek, squishing the stubborn bit of baby fat there a little. “stupid kotora~ the cute parts, the cool parts, the ugly parts, all of them make up my beloved tetora and i adore all of them, alright?”, sol shifted slightly to allowed sun to pepper soft kisses all over tetora’s face– the tip of his nose, his lips, the part of his forehead hidden behind still-damp bangs– “you don't ever have to hide anything from me. no matter what cheesy thing you say, or how clingy you act–”, this earned a whine from tetora– “you're definitely the coolest to me. you don't ever have to worry about that.” 

tetora took this as a cue to snuggle closer, nuzzling his head into the crook of mihir’s next. sun adjusted sols arms to cradle him even closer, dropping another small kiss on top of his head as the response to a soft, muffled “i love you” leaving tetora’s mouth as they both drifted off to sleep.

the comic is cancelled. you probably already assumed that since i havent posted anything about it in a while but yeah the things dead now lol. mainly because i dont care much about omori anymore, the comic sucked, and it was too much effort. i feel kinda bad about leaving you guys in the dark for this long tho, so i thought id go ahead and include all the scrapped stuff for the comic that never got finished

while i was writing the comic i started a google doc that laid out ideas i had for future pages. heres that if you wanna know how the story ends

it was written over several months and (most) things are in order of where they go on the timeline not when i wrote them so it might be a little hard to follow

also some art i never posted

i quoted not liking this comic as one of the reasons i stopped so let me explain that with a list of things id change about this if i were to remake it (which i wont)

remove the swearing that was so stupid

make omori mute (and probably use sign language)

omori does not express fear or stress in-game, thats sunnys job. quit it

he also does not cry and generally shows emotions (even the big ones) in more subtle ways (which i think i was trying to shift towards later in the doc) idk why he was so emotional all the time

literally everything about how i portrayed omori actually that was all just awful

the panic attack scene is fucking embarrassing i have no clue what i was thinking. im so sorry for writing it like that i did 0 research beforehand

make it shorter why did i think that would work out

id probably just make it a fic, comics take way too much outta me compared to just writing things

it does not need a big epic ending and probably shouldve ended not long after they escaped black space

the romance is horrible but thats the foundation of the comic so idek what id do about that

stop making everyone talk like therapists 24/7

and yeah it has a lot of problems but i still do care about this due to the ammount of effort and love ive put into it, i just cant and dont want to continue it

so yeah thats where this story ends ig. i had a lot of fun along the way, and thank you so much for all the support. bigger thanks to that one sunflower discord server (if you came from there you know which one) for being my main motivation and support throughout this journey. sucks this comic never got to see its full potential but im relieved to finally lay it to rest. the blog will stay up for archival purposes but i will not continue the comic any further obviously. the ask box will remain open if you wanna say anything or if you have a question about the story or whatever. thanks for reading.

Tumblr Cosmetic Customization Tutorial

You there! New Tumblr User with a default icon and header, no description, no custom URL, and not wanting to be mistaken for a bot--you just want to maybe figure out this weird hellsite and follow some people without being blocked, right?

Maybe you've been around for a little while, or are returning from that other hellsite, and don't know what the heck folks mean by enabling the custom URL and why are so many blogs opening on the dash instead of in a new tab?!

Let's sort this mess out below the cut with a screencap-laden tutorial, starting on mobile app (since Most new blogs start there these days, and many people use mobile more, or exclusively) and then moving to web browser for some other features that aren't available in the app (as of 1/27/23 anyway).

This is just going to be about cosmetic customization and accessing the correct blog URL and archive; Tumblr's many other settings and features for how you want to see your Dashboard and how much Privacy control you decide on are for your exploration (or another day and another tutorial, this one's long enough).

The tutorial blog itself literally took me well under 5 minutes to set up, and Tumblr guided me to customizing immediately. Taking the screenshots added a few seconds to the time; it's taken longer to write the first part of this post out. If you didn't customize the blog right away, don't fret! You can always tap the little art palette and cogwheel icons at the top of your blog to sort it out.

Now go below the link to see written instructions with image examples, including a few more with my cat:

TO BEGIN: In the mobile app, I make a new blog. For me, it's a sideblog under my main and existing sides, but otherwise this is all the same info. The following process also isn't actually all that different in web browser.

Now, you can change your URL later on if you want; a lot of folks do over time. Just be aware: changing your URL breaks any and all previous links to your blog, including any posts others have reblogged under "Read More" cuts, with the same result as if the blog was deactivated; the URL no longer exists, so Tumblr doesn't count it as "there" anymore.

Now that's out of the way, once I make a blog it immediately takes me to the Customization screen:

I can--and should!--give my blog a name and a description. Doesn't have to be long or fancy, and can always be changed later with no risk to your links.

I can tap the "Background" and "Accent" buttons to change the default colors, too. Let's go for something easy on the eyes by tapping on the colored circles to find some default options, or the wheel to grab a random custom one. I'm going to go to purple and find a nice shade there.

Next I will tap on the little default icon to choose an avatar photo. I can choose not to show it on my blog, and if I do, whether I want it to be square or circle.

I can also tap to choose a header image if I like. I'm just grabbing some images from my phone. I did have to redo the avatar as it didn't want to stay after selecting a header pic for some reason.

And then I made a quick post and pinned it, to let folks know that I am human and what the purpose of this blog is (lurking for now? A main blog for following while sideblogs get the content? In this case, a tutorial).

OK, so my cat for an icon, my copy of the fanzine I worked on as a header, a quick title and description, and a short post. Even if I post nothing else to this blog (and if it were a main blog; sideblogs can't follow others, nor send asks or replies), people will be fairly certain I am not a bot, hooray! And if I want to change anything, I can tap on the icons at the top of the blog and get back to these customization screens.

I CAN STOP HERE IF I WANT TO

...BUT WHAT IF I, or buddies, try to open my blog in a browser and it opens a dash panel? What if I (or others) want to access my Archive? Unfortunately, I cannot find the correct option in the mobile app at this point, so onto a web browser we go (on my phone or my tablet, or my computer).

I am using a generic default web browser where I don't have many extensions/plugins/addons enabled (though apparently I did set dark mode). When I tap/hover over my icon, it still shows my color option and everything I selected in app setup.

Here is where I am going to direct you to the side bar and the "Edit Appearance" button so I can point out some Very Important Things, even if you don't customize anything else ever.

When I open my blog's appearance tab, right away it's going to tell me some interesting things I have circled and pointed at on the below screenshot:

In RED I have circled my blog's URL: www.tumblr.com/lynmarstesting. This is why a blog opens in a dash panel instead of going to an actual blog. This is the new Default URL, I cannot access an Archive or other blog features like this.

The ORANGE arrow points to the feature we want, right below the "Blog name" and URL: "Custom Theme". When I swipe this feature to active, it tells me my URL is updated.

When I go to my blog, the URL in my browser shows the proper https://lynmarstesting.tumblr.com link.

And the blog looks...well, bare bones and empty, but a proper weblog page. And I (and anyone else) have access to my Archive! When, y'know, I have enough posts to make that a thing on this blog.

Now, if I or anyone else opens the blog by clicking my username or icon, it'll open a dash panel...but also show my actual @ and my proper URL link, so they can go to the blog itself that way if they want. Everyone wins!

I CAN STOP HERE IF I WANT TO;

there's no need from this point to keep messing around in a browser, we've done everything to 1) make ourselves look human and 2) make our blog properly linkable/accessible.

BUT WHAT IF...??

Once again, the little art palette icon at the top is our clicky-buddy, boxed below in orange:

This opens an "Edit Theme" sidebar panel where one can customize the blog. Each theme has different options, and Tumblr's default theme is honestly really modular; change colors, fonts, have multiple columns, add some pages (I've a whole other tutorial on that), etc.

There's also an "Advanced" pane, where you can mess with some other settings (the little ? icon on each line tells you what it does) and, if you're knowledgeable--or just bold--this is where you can add some Custom CSS.

Say the Default Tumblr Official isn't doing it, though; at the top of the Edit Theme pane it tells you your current theme, and there's a handy "Browse Themes" link.

This opens a drop down with multiple sorting options. I don't want to spend money on a premium blog theme at the moment, and the others are a mix, so let's check out the Free Themes options.

There's a lot of options here! Some new ones, some are sponsored, lots of variety. Even the "Accessible" theme I mainly use is there, in its barren glory, compared to what you can see I've made of it on browser (see that previous tutorial I linked above):

Again: Different Themes have Different Levels of Customization.

Some will let you change every color, the fonts, the frames, and so on. Some let you add links everywhere. Some barely let you touch anything. You can tap "Use" at the top to preview, and the "Advanced" pane will let you preview random pretend posts if you don't have many/any of your own to see how they'd look. If you don't like how something's turning out, just click back on "Free Themes" and look for another one.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND READABILITY!!

When people follow links to your blog--like a Read More cut--they will see the post on your blog's theme and in your blog's colors. Even on mobile app, especially if you override the default mobile theme, your color choices will have an impact! Aesthetic is all well and good, but frames, fonts, colors, and so on, should be legible and readable to most people, especially if you mean to share a lot of text posts.

Another thing to note: Your theme will NOT appear on mobile app. It defaults to a basic setup in the app, keeping maybe only your colors. Any custom links won't show, and cosmetic site options and access are limited in a lot of ways. The site is usable on a mobile web browser, and will have those features there. I get around the app's inability to show my theme's links by adding them all to my informative Pinned Posts on each blog, but that's me.

And there you have it! How to cosmetically customize a Tumblr, in mobile app and browser, to seem like a real person and access the correct URL and features of your blog. Whether you're new or been here awhile, hopefully this helps answer some really basic questions about how and why to do some of these things.

Day 4: For the love of Note-taking

I am a person that loves to learn and take notes, but I tend to run into the problem of over-consuming. I’m a big idea type of person so I have many things I want to try but if I don't have a system most ideas are stuck in my head taking up space that can be used for creating.

I need a system that can be used in all parts of life that will help me capture my ideas and build on them. I reintroduced myself to the concept of a second brain. A second brain is essentially a methodology for saving and systematically reminding yourself of ideas, insights, and connections you’ve made through your experiences. It's used to free up your brain space and ensure you are creating valuable things from the information you consume.

It's a pretty simple concept that is achieved through a 4-step process:

Organize for accountability

Distill down to the essence

Express your unique ideas and experiences

Keep your notes in a centralized place so you will always know where things are

Make conscious decisions about what you consume

Only keep what resonates, that way everything has a purpose.

Decided that I will use OneNote as my one-stop shop. I also started using a read-later app as a way to save articles for later and it has a tagging feature which is amazing!

Organize for accountability

When it comes to note-taking, the simpler and more flexible the organization method the better.  

Pro-tip: Avoid making a perfect hierarchy of folders from the get-go 

PARA Method: Everything in your life can fit into one of the below categories 

Area: Long-term responsibilities  

Projects: Short-term responsibilities  

Resources: Topics or interests that will be useful in the future 

Archives: Information that is inactive 

I adopted the PARA method for my work OneNote, I have the tabs sectioned out for the different categories and I also have a section that I named inbox. The idea here is that everything has a place but try not to overthink it. The more flexibility you give yourself the better.

Pro-tip: Start with a clean slate. Move all existing files into an archive folder with today's date.

This is the main issue I had with the methodology, when I first tried to implement the PARA method I thought I had to use it on existing information. Needless to say, it was overwhelming and I ended up giving up. This time starting fresh took the weight of what to do will all the old information and allows my system to grow with me and helps reshape my method of thinking. It also helps that I didn't delete anything. If I need an old piece of information, its always there.

Distill down to the essence 

Create actionable, bite-size summaries and focus on the main points

Summarize progressively, save an excerpt, create a summary, and create a summary of the summary.

I know it sounds a bit redundant BUT this allows you to see the note in different ways and you always want to leave a note better than you found it.

Add value to each note every time you touch it

Highlighting the most important parts

Add a link to reference later

Defining key terms in case you forget

Inserting placeholders when you leave off so you know where to pick up

You always want to enhance your notes and design them for your future self.

Express your unique ideas

For me, note-taking is also an art form. It's how I express my interests and thoughts. I love that anything you want to learn is at your fingertips and I love sharing what I find in hopes that it helps someone else.

I also find informational blogging therapeutic. If I have a problem, goal, or task I usually make a post about it which helps me to not only think through my thoughts but also as a way to showcase what I learned. I feel like I found my voice and note-taking helps me not only learn and stay organized but also keeps me sane most days.

I'm excited to perfect my craft and the best part is that there is no finished product, you’re always improving!
