It's hard to talk about the war in Israel.

It's hard because it seems that everyone I know who IS talking about it, is 300% on the side of Palestine and Hamas, and they're sharing articles that make Israel sound like a country of barbarians.

It's hard to talk about because I have a friend who lives in Israel, who's literal job is to study Jewish history and then teach it to others. And she's been updating me (and others on her Tumblr) about her experience during the war. She's been sharing articles and videos and first hand accounts, and it all sounds directly opposite to the propaganda I see everywhere else.

It's hard because it feels like everyone I know doesn't care that it's her job to know the history and the truth. They keep sharing the antisemitic articles and cheering for the downfall of any company that half-mentions support for Israel or doesn't outright support Palestine.

For some reason, people are looking at this war that doesn't effect 90% of them and seeing it in stark black and white. They're raging against a country that has never hurt them, in defense of known terrorists that have never done anything for them.

And it blows my mind that I can't even bring up the idea that I want my friend to be happy and healthy and safe and for her life to go back to some modicum of peace and stability in the country she loves, because too many people will accuse me of supporting genocide and colonization.

Honestly, wtf is happening. It's like watching Donald Trump win the election and wondering how so many people can suddenly be racist, close-minded bigots all over again. How has America (and maybe the world?) been convinced that Israel is nothing at all but an aggressor and Palestine and Hamas are nothing at all but innocent babies in need of defense?

To all the people who claim this IS a black and white issue - honestly fuck you. No war has ever been black and white, and you fucking know it. Your brain's just gone stupid over this war for some reason.

To the civilians in Palestine, you didn't deserve the war brought to your doorstep by the terrorists among you. I wish this war would end yesterday and aid can rush to you and help you heal. You didn't (and don't) deserve to have your friends and family caught in this crossfire.

To the civilians in Israel, you have never deserved the vitriol thrown at you. And you certainly don't deserve to hear the world calling for the eradication of your country and livelihoods, all while erasing the terrible deeds done against you in this war. I wish I could erase antisemitism from the minds of everyone in the world so that you could heal from generations of degradation and mistreatment. Long Chaggie rant ahead

I think a reason Chaggie get called "boring" is that they are waayyy past that beginning stage of their relationship TV love to glamorize.

They've been together for three years and already have that comfort level with each other that not everything is a new discovery. They accept each other's differences and just support. That's what a well established relationship is like.

Of course they are still heavily affectionate and loving with each other because duh, they're in love. Society loves to repeat the bullshit "losing the spark" problem in relationships and how "marriage is so hard" but most of these situations are people that barely even like each other let alone love.

I think that's why media loves showing either beginning stage relationships OR trope-y enemies to lovers and variants of that.

ESPECIALLY in the case of queer relationships because it's only fairly recently that it's been normalized onscreen and I don't think we're used to seeing a normal queer relationship. Like think about it.

Media has always loved showing the gays as deviant and toxic because that's been the only way it was allowed to be seen. I think many of us have gotten used to seeing ourselves that way that it's been normalized.

Personally, I'm in the boat of I'm sick being seen as deviant and like it's bad and wrong thing to be in love with someone of the same sex. For me, Chaggie has been healing because it's just two women being a healthy happy couple. Something that society and even family have told me is not possible which hurts beyond words to hear.

So yeah, I love Chaggie. It is the best wlw canon ship in fucking YEARS and I have been craving representation like this. The very things that I get dirty looks at for irl, is completely normal with Chaggie.

They can hold hands, lean in together arm around shoulder, quick casual kisses in public, give each other goo-goo eyes, just general affection and couple-y behavior as well as the "been together for 3 years" quirks and routines. Like I swear I cannot remember any other wlw ship like this so yeah, it's gonna hit me hard in the feels.

And when characters like Lute and Adam are disgusted or fetishize it, it's very obviously portrayed as villainous behavior. Everyone else just accepts them as they are.

Of course it's not just the normalization of those things but specifically in the context of they've been together for 3 years and are still very much in love and have nothing to prove to each other and just face any conflicts as they come like a normal couple.

Most media especially TV have gay couples break up after that amount of time just for drama points and cuz us gays cant ever last in a long term relationship apparently 😒 And I feel like that especially goes for lesbian relationships on TV. I've seen wayyy more long terms mlm relationships than wlw in main roles.

(Wonder if that's cuz it's just so unbelievable that women could actually love each other cuz society just is so attached to the idea that all women hate each other)

Basically fuck Chaggie hate. We need more wlw long term relationships like this onscreen. I'm tired of being seen as deviant and likely to be toxic. And I'm not saying they need to be perfect. They're obviously not and have some issues but that's a good thing. Every couple has issues.

I'm just saying not all gay onscreen need to almost destroy their relationship in order to repair it.

Can I just say I love the shipping scene in HLVRAI? Like, I've never been in a fandom where it's been this CHILL before. Each ship has appeal and could actually work (unless you're intentionally being weird about it, but I haven't really encountered those people, this is personal experience here), and it's just so-!

Frenrey is wonderful because they're both silly, if those two met under different circumstances you KNOW they'd be friends, and it can be about forgiveness and healing. I love that.

Freelatta is great because Tommy and Gordon always have each others' backs, and those two will see each other through thick and thin.

Sodashipping is delightful because Darnold and Tommy just click SO WELL, they have a lot of common interests outside of soda, and you guys who give Darnold a dog as well as so correct about that omg.

Darzen is really fun because these two have never once interacted in canon but so easily could have. Like Forzen probably had to go through that area to progress as well, what hijinx would they get into?

I don't see Gordon and Forzen being shipped just the two of them often (shoutout to hlvrv, that was unexpected but really fun), but that's another instance I could also see. They're polycule a lot of the time, which hell yeah.

Tomrey is awesome because of the pre-established friendship between Benrey and Tommy, how even down to the final wire Benrey didn't really want to hurt Tommy. Outside of shipping their relationship is just wonderful.

Darnrey is also fun in that regard. Gamer partners.

Benzon as well. This one really depends on your interpretation of canon but it's always fun when it pops up again. The history between those two has so much potential. I don't personally ship this one but it's always fun to explore.

Another I don't have the name for but Darnold and Gordon. Orang. And just the unconditional support from Darnold- wonderful.

Frenreylatta is just delightful. Like you take all the best parts of frenrey, tomrey, and freelatta and put them in a blender and you get pure wholesomeness. I fucking love this one. Absolute winner. And I also really love how usually depictions of this one don't hide the part parts, either, but it's still a generally more supportive relationship overall. Five stars.

Frenreylattarnold is also just *chef's kiss*. Darnold just brings a vibe to the group they don't otherwise have. It simultaneously makes it more chill and more chaotic.

Again I don't know the name, but add Forzen into the mix and you have a really fun, complex dynamic of people who just love each other. I'm so fucking here for it.

I can't not talk about my favorite ship here, though. Boomer sweep. Boomer wins. Every time boomer pops up on my feed I get so fucking happy. Chaos grandpas who fucking love and support each other SO unconditionally. They work through their trauma together while committing crimes. The stark contrasts between them also aid wonderfully to their dynamic, like how Coomer doesn't like video games while Bubby is a speedrunner. They each have their own lives but they want to spend them together. NO I'M NORMAL DID YOU KNOW THAT I SWEAR I'M NORMAL-

Gubby's a fun one, too, and from my understanding that one's a rarepair. But yeah, putting Bubby's firey personality next to Gman's calm and collected one creates a lot of fun opportunities, and helps explore the differences between Half Life and HLVRAI Gman in more in-depth ways. It's always fun when it pops up again, I love it. (Shoutout to catloki for this one.)

I don't member the ship name but adding Coomer in there is also really fun. Chaos grandpas take over the world together <3

I haven't seen Coomer and Gman being shipped individually before but I could also see that one. Coomer would be able to simultaneously meet Gman where he's at while also encouraging him to step outside his comfort zone, and also probably being a terrible influence on him gGFDHSJAKGF.

All this to say I'm not really a shipper. These guys could be just friends and I'd be okay with that, which I guess lends itself to the RTVS crew and how well they all stepped into character. Everyone just has dynamics with each other, that come out naturally, and makes it easy for us to really see where each relationship could go.

They're running laps around Ligament Manor's tree because that's what Orym wanted: everyone exercising together.

Ashton has already lapped everyone but Chetney several times and they're still going while half the crew has dropped out and the other half is seriously considering it.

The problem is, he's running out of energy when he should be able to keep on hauling ass. A few days ago, this wouldn't even be a problem. But a few days ago, he hadn't–

"You okay there, Ashton?" FCG asks, soft concern in their tone.

Ashton blinks back to present, finding their pace slowed and FCG wheeling along at their side.

And their hand is pressed to their sternum, right over where the Spark reformed its crystal within their chest.

"I'm fine," they dismiss.

"Ashton," Fresh Cut Grass says sternly, coming to a stop, their halted momentum bringing Ashton to a standstill as well. "We all promised: no lying to each other on this retreat."

Ashton sucks in air through his teeth. They did all promise that, and they've all been holding to it. It's just... it's a stupid fucking problem that they won't want to hear about, won't be able to fix. So what's the fucking point in worrying any of them? Life moves on and "I'm fine" is a lie everyone tells, even to themselves.

"Ashton, what's wrong?" FCG insists, poking his side.

A quick glance reveals no one else is here for them to be vulnerable in front of. It's... easier, mostly, when it's one-on-one.

"I think it took something with it."

"The who the what now?" FCG asks, obviously confused.

"The Spark. I think– I think it took part of me with it, when I had to puke it back up. The previous crystal it was in shattered, and the new one... it made it from me. And now I feel... less. Less sturdy, less stamina. More... f-fragile," Ashton softly confesses, studiously looking away from their friend. They're no good if they can't take hits all day and keep going. It's the mistake that just keeps taking.

"...Well, I wish you woulda said somethin' sooner. I coulda tried to heal you up already if I'd known," FCG responds with a touch of consternation.

Startled, Ashton's eyes are drawn back to his smaller companion. The aeormaton seems to be considering their magic and capabilities, their spell components.

"I– I'm not sure this can be healed, Letters," they quietly admit. It's kind of why they kept quiet about it. Didn't want to get their hopes up, didn't want the disappointment of another hurt no one can fix.

"Maybe not. But I'm certainly gonna try. That's what you do for the people you love, right?" he asks with all the innocence in world. Like telling Ashton that he loves them doesn't shake the genasi to their core.

"I mean, that's what the definition of love you decided on sounds like. Being there for the people you love, no matter what. Helping them and supporting them through whatever paths they take. I love you like that," FCG continues on. "I wanna be here with you. I wanna help you. So I'm gonna try to heal you."

"...Okay," Ashton whispers back, trying to keep the tears from falling. "Okay."

So here's the deal, this is inspired by one of the uses of Greater Restoration being it can "end one of the following effects on the target: Any reduction to one of the target's ability scores." So technically, FCG (or Fearne) could restore Ashton's CON score back to 18, if they knew to try. However, I will be completely unsurprised if, should this actually be attempted, Matt vetoes it on the grounds of "you/your spell isn't strong enough to undo what was done by a titan shard."

George has been her best friend since diapers, they've gone through every aspect of their lives together, that fact alone means that they're bonded for life

there was this one time: when they were around 16 maybe 17, g had organised this big surprise party for her birthday, it was absolutely amazing, he had managed to get a fuck ton of beer and weed from an older friend, his garden was full to the brim of all of their friends, some people she didnt know (not that it matter). but despite it being HER birthday party, he had invited matty who at some point in the night had said something about how the dress she was wearing would make all the guys think she was an easy fuck... she remembered how her best friend (a very drunk and high george) had laughed at mattys words... they didn't talk for weeks after that until one day her lanky friend appeared at her door, begging on his hands and knees to forgive him, saying how much of a prick he had been and how much he had missed her. somehow they grew closer after that, he would always have her back and she never questioned that.

they have their own handsake and george knows her disdain for something by one simple fact: she will crinkle her nose up at him, he'd do it back and then they'd laugh about it... it was their thing

she was practically his sister

Ross:

ross and lou grew close when they were kids, they were never as close as G and Lou (basically impossible to be) but there friendship was different

they're relationship has the same vibe as ross x matty, that kind of intense platonic love

And tbh she was that for him too, he remembers when he confided in Lou about his worries about carly in his relationship (very early on in their relationship), he told her how he was worried carly would leave him becuase they could never have a 'normal' relationship, they'd always be on tour, swarmed with fans, fans who (despite their sweet intentions) would always want to know everything about their relationship, Lou all but smacked him round the head, telling him he was being ridiculous, that he'd never find another like carly, someone who was so loving and accepting of everyone she met, told him he might as well marry her and that his thoughts although valid, were just thoughts, and that the realistic state of things was that carly was going to love him regardless.

he is someone who watches on the sidelines, showering her with love and affection and his admiration in his own way, often by doing simple things like "i got you xyz thing because i remember you mentioned it"

he loves how she makes carly feel welcome, always the first to talk to her and ask how she is (carly and hann and agreed that they'd ask her to be godmother)

okay i laid down and then didn't come back. anyway.

that is. horrible. knowing that one of their loved ones is going through something, not even knowing from pain how bad it is, only having a scar/mark. watching it shift and change as the injury heals.

there's probably a while where Kaldur is so confused because he keeps getting so many that heal way too quickly. they can't be Conner's, he isn't so easily wounded nor does he have a healing factor (as far as I'm aware? someone fact check me lmao. certainly not one as quick as Dick's) but it can't be Artemis or M'Gaan. finding out Dick is alive by science experiment means and realising that was all being done to Dick. the team always knowing if something is happening to Dick because those marks heal the quickest.

Wally getting them all at once is horrific to think about. especially cause he's just come out of the speed force; for a moment he thinks they're his own scars. he doesn't know what happened. and then he realises they're not real scars they're soul marks and his stomach drops.

Oh my god. everyone would have the brand from Slade. they would all know that Slade had branded Dick. not just marked him as something Slade owns, but specifically with such a barbaric instrument as white-hot metal. the knowledge as they watch it settle into their skin that Dick must have smelt his own burning flesh.

the scar on Dick's eye. seeing it slowly but surely track its way across his face, knowing that it's purposeful, not an accident, that there is probably something very bad going on right now while Dick takes this cut.

Okay I have to stop thinking about Dick. who else has had the shit kicked out of them.

man. M'Gaan's first field mission. she doesn't get a lot of them, but Bee would have sent her on at least one before letting her work with Renegade. the team seeing these injuries and panicking because it's not Dick. and it can't be Conner. and surely not Kaldur, he's locked up tight.

which leaves Meg and Artemis. Artemis is the only one who can logically surmise it's M'Gaan. fucking hell. M'Gaan was pretty much only hurt by fire or force in the show, she never dealt with stabs and genuine blows. she's a support fighter, really, until at least season two. and the whole team had a sort of thing in their heads of babying M'Gaan. knowing she's going through something, no ideas as to what, but that this could be the first time she's dealing with real genuine inescapable pain, without anyone by her side to help.

I can't handle this shit right now.

Thai QL Favorites Tag Game

Thai BL only adds some interesting wrinkles for me.

Favorite Thai QL: I think it is and always will be I Told Sunset About You. I've been in queer cinema for a long time, and I really appreciate how ITSAY reaches beyond the confines of BL itself and becomes a huge marker for queer cinema. Also, this show healed the hole that Love of Siam (2007) left behind. I spent over ten years holding in that angst, assuring myself and others that our pain would be worth it. Even after six years of BL, starting with Love Sick the series, I didn't feel like I could put that down until the final moments of ITSAY.

Favorite Pairing: In Thailand? I think it's Khaotung and First because of how special their friendship feels and the work that they've done recently together. Long-term, it's probably OffGun because of how stable they are. They established a blueprint for how to be a professional pair and keep the fans at an effective distance.

Most underrated actor: Honestly? It's Boy Nattapon. We give all the GMMTV boys their due, and obviously Billkin and PP get their flowers. Still, Boy holds the entirety of Ghost Host, Ghost House together. I don't think Todd Techit could have done that without Boy's presence.

Favorite Character: How dare you narrow this down to one character? For now I'm going with Uncle Man in 21 Days Theory. He is visibly queer man who spends the show trying to support his nephew, and reads that boy for filth when he comes at him sideways. He also helps his sister take care of her son, and then focuses on his own relationship with their dad. It's hard to be a gay uncle sometimes, and I think he captures that perfectly in an incredibly sweet show.

Favorite Side Character: It's Saleng from Moonlight Chicken. Mark is always doing incredible work in supporting roles at GMMTV, and the loyalty and care he inspires in Jim and Li Ming really holds that show together. Saleng is that cousin who is kind of a fuck up that you're just so relieved finally gets it together. I am always captivated by the way Saleng moves and how many folks rely on him as a way to say when they need to say. Since people sometimes say MLC isn't QL, I'll also say... Cheep and Dej from My Ride. It's always gay uncles fo rme.

Favorite scene in a QL: The opening scene in Moonlight Chicken is really good. However, I think it is the breakfast scene with the uncles in episode 8 of My Ride. Focusing on the way long-term love requires a relationship to shift and that it requires maintenance was really special for me at the time and I regularly think about that scene.

Favorite line in a QL: "You never understand me. I'm hurt." -Oh-aew, I Told Sunset About You

Most Anticipated QL (& why): Only Friends. I just think Jojo deserves it, and I think it'll be fun for all of us.

Healthiest relationship in a QL: I think it's still Dean and Pharm from Until We Meet Again. They're very good at each other, and all of their drama was external.

Most toxic relationship in a QL: VegasPete is the obvious answer, but I think I want to highlight Farm and Bright from Together With Me.

Guilty pleasure series: Love in the Air. Not a fan of MAME, but this one snuck past and got me.

Most underrated series: You're My Sky. I feel like the kind of muted response this show got signaled something about the way tastes for prestige BL wasn't a thing, and maybe contributed to the death of Nadao Bangkok. I think this show is really excellent, and it bugs me that it has such a low rating from so many of us.

6. Ymir/Historia (AOT) - I've had my issues with AOT so I don't end up talking about it a lot, but this is hands down the best ship. Historia was my fave character and they were IT to each other and the final letter Ymir sends to her is top five most devastating moments in the whole series. Love some tragic lesbians.

7. Hinako/Asashi (Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon) - Read a lot of published yuri at one point and this one was a standout. Hinako struggles with comphet, anxiety, trying to meet people's expectations of her, and is also good ace rep! The two of them start out as friends and Hinako coming to accept herself is sooo good, probably some of the best canon rep I've read (need an anime for this asap)

8. Rhaenicent (HOTD) - After Game of Thrones bombed so spectacularly at the end I thought I would not like HOTD, but they brought me back on board with the toxic lesbians. Literally inseparable from each other at the start and the one person that they trust, and it just devolves as EVERYONE around them fucks them over in a way where they end up blaming the other and are bitter and hostile about it, but even still after everything you can tell there's some love that never went away truly? Insane.

9. Pharah/Mercy (Overwatch) - ...Exposing myself as an overwatch fan....But these two have some of the gayest voicelines in the entire game (Pharah is my main so I would know lmao. I'm also automatically gay for any Mercy that pocket heals/buffs me ajssllflglh). Fly through the skies together and protect each other...HEAVY flirting while they're at it...Mercy is like the one person to know about Pharah's mommy issues....Yeah I like them lmao.

10. Utena/Anthy (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - Woooaaahhhh who saw this one coming as my fave sapphic ship....everyone? Ok. Anyways ship of all time to me. It's healthy. It's toxic. It's doomed. It's saved. It's canon. I can't even really put into words in one short paragraph why they work so well, but them and their relationship are the heart of RGU. When they get to the point where Utena realizes that what Anthy doesn't need is a prince to save her, rather that Anthy needs her own agency, and Anthy is FINALLY able to leave her abusive situation through that agency, and be able to find and love Utena with full trust. The queer and feminist themes of RGU really just make it unlike any other ship that I've seen.

This is going to out me as the anon but I got too many ideas and wanted to show really bad how the au designs are in my brain because a lot of @scrap-brainzone 's stuff inspired with it and aus so this is a babble about it and some extra info on my aus!

Going simple first, I wanted to show the differences, although I haven't touched Angelic Guardian in awhile and Hyperion brand new with posting I wanted to show anyways- I'll add tidbit about each under this, so sorry for anyone trying to decipher my chicken scratch

Underneath Ms Ceos heavy ass eyeliner and makeup is the eridium effects as displayed here, she's went under several different surgeries repeatedly trying to hide any of the effects and uses cameras and altering her look digitally to her advantage. Her big problem is she Can't let people know because she fears if people knew, they're going to try and kidnap her again. (Mildly irrational considering all her security but it's a fair worry.) She hasn't touched eridium since the end of BL2, so she's most clean, but with how much she had the damage has been done.

Ah, Fallen Heir au. Angel's given up caring about who sees, only hiding before to stay away from the Crimson Raiders and cultists, but after both sides know? It's so what to her. She's technically the most fit and least afraid to use her abilities because she doesn't care as much about hurting others around her. If I were to describe her attitude/self in one sentence of dialog it'd basically be, "They refuse to see me as anything but a monster, so that's what I'll be."

Alas, my dear Angelic Guardian. As you can see, she's very much not holding up well. Her suit uses eridium to help keep her going but still at what cost? She's technically extremely fit, but the repercussions are severe if she pushes too far. Her level of eridium poisoning is beyond dangerous, having been in stasis for 5 years while still receiving eridium to keep her alive. I'll end it here by saying this has severe consequences that unfortunately, she was doomed to face regardless.

Ai Ange? Well. Not very much of anything but mild traits. I, in turn, made one for Gaige with that au.

Angel isn't very the most comfortable with Gaige using eridium, mainly due to the fact its less "as needed" but she likes to test limits and see what she can really do.

moving on I made some goofies and such from my Fallen au, wanting to show interactions (Mildly for also scrap because I know tyreen and tygaige a favorite)

Tygaige alas, would heavy struggle unless we get villain redemption pt 2 like Angel, but she won't be very pleased about it at first before accepting. I'm a sucker for Gaigel, so it'll lean that way, but to entertain the idea would be interesting. I might do that sometime.

if you're curious though with Angel there, it is a shitpost and I have drawn it with the idea Tyreen was monologing, but Angel just turned off her shield and straight up shot a bitch. (Tyreen easily healed with eridium but it was the audacity that was most surprising) the fallen au is pretty funny because besides that, she's also: Made Troy punch himself, then also has made his arm punch Tyreen. Will hack their shows if she's upset enough and fucks with their things. General fun, yknow. An issue Ange faces in the end is because she's so "eridium enriched" it's like double tasty snack to the twins, so that's always fun. (In fairness to Troy and with another drawing, Angel in this au has also made Gaige punch herself a few times when she got upset. She's very petty and I support it)

AND LASTLY

This is a mild gift to scrap-brainzone! I'm really sorry thr quality and coloring isn't the best on this (or most of the images), I was mildly rushing from time and far too excited to finish this and post it to show.

also what's up with the wyll/eden/astarion polycule, how'd that happen

okay so to be clear this polycule exists only in my brain/the bg3 fic i wanna write and not in the actual campaign. but it means a lot to me and makes brain go brrrr

i like to imagine this polycule starting as like... wyll and astarion each separately develop romantic feelings for eden, and they have to figure out how they want to navigate that. i want to respect the fact that, in the game, wyll specifically says he's not interested in a polyamorous relationship, so this is kind of like... a what-if scenario for a situation where i think that might be something he'd be interested in.

because i don't think this is something any of them sought out, it just kinda. happened with time.

wyll and eden get together first, having their sweet slowburn romance over the course of the adventure. and, y'know, they really care about and support each other, and it's nice to see love blooming in such a dark, scary time.

but there's this pervasive sense among the party that they're fighting a losing battle. can they really do anything to change the world, after all they've seen? sure, they're not gonna stop trying--gods know eden is a determined son of a bitch and won't back down if he thinks there's even a minuscule chance of making a difference.

but it's wearing on them, and even though eden keeps going, it's clearly wearing on him, too. there's so much going wrong, it feels like, all the goddamn time. when does it end?

then... towards the middle of act 2, wyll picks up on something he's been subconsciously aware of, but hasn't acknowledged: the very clear feelings astarion is developing for eden. the two have always butt heads, but there's an underlying affection between them that catches his attention. and, sure, he's confident that eden isn't going to be unfaithful or leave him, but at the same time it does make him nervous.

does astarion have something he doesn't? does eden *want* him the way he wants wyll? is wyll prepared to potentially have to share eden, or lose him? he doesn't think he wants the answers to those questions.

this is something in the back of his mind for a few weeks, and he finds himself watching eden and astarion a bit more closely. eden does pick up on it eventually and asks him what's wrong, but he lies and says that nothing's wrong. why would there be?

then, wyll gets *severely* hurt in a battle, nearly dying in the process. and eden fucking *loses it*. he manages to save wyll's life, but it's still gonna take time for his injuries to heal. and that makes something click in wyll's brain: there is a very real chance he won't survive this journey, that even eden's determination to claw them out of hell might not be enough to save all of them. and, if he dies, what happens then? what happens to eden?

so, wyll, the self-sacrificing bastard he is, decides that, if he dies, then someone needs to stick around for eden. and... well, if he's right, and astarion does want eden romantically, then maybe he'll fit the bill. the same day he decides that, he seeks astarion out to talk to him and tell him, hey, if i don't survive this, i want you to take care of eden.

and astarion... does not react well. he seems deeply uncomfortable with this whole conversation, especially when he's always been sure that wyll hates him. he doesn't deny having an interest in eden, but he tells wyll off for being so willing to disregard himself in this situation (and also eden's feelings, too!). bold of him to assume eden wouldn't tear the world apart for him if it came to that.

as astarion says this, wyll picks up on a note of what seems like bitterness in the vampire's voice, as though he's resigned *himself* to the role of quietly pining from the shadows, never having the closeness he actually *wants* here, not having eden care about *him* as much as he does wyll.

basically, this whole conversation gives wyll a lot to think about.

and okay i'll admit i haven't ironed out all the details from there, but i know that astarion joins the relationship wayyy down the line from there, definitely sometime in act 3. it's not something they really sit down to discuss at first, though they do down the line when they have a moment to breathe.

i DO know that i want there to be a moment where like... *eden* is the one in peril this time, and astarion and wyll have a Moment while they're rushing to save him where it really clicks for them that... oh. yeah. at the end of the day, they both care about him, and maybe that *is* enough. they can both protect him and keep him happy, if he so chooses.

the dynamic is like. eden is dating both wyll and astarion, though wyll and astarion aren't dating each other. they might consider it at some point, but i don't think it's something they'd really want to go for.

and i'll be honest that i'm not sure if this particular dynamic would *work* long-term. maybe it could! maybe not! but it at least works for the moment they're in, even if it's rocky at times. eden has two hands.

the dynamic in my brain is like... wyll and astarion both love and care deeply about eden. eden loves and cares deeply about both of them. they team up to keep their little devil safe and in their arms, so they don't lose him as he throws himself into danger to protect them.

(also i know this isn't going much into eden's perspective, but i will be honest i'm a bit self conscious about how long this got lmao. another time, perhaps. idk idk i just love them so much)

astarion can be summoned as a deeply unhelpful but also funny little guy

overall I think in a straight up 1v1 fight emrys would probably win on melee grounds; smite + lay on hands + higher strength makes her a battering ram style fighter that sort of just throws rogues around until they cry. but would struggle as soon as leliana is out of range and, lets be real, leliana would probably be smarter about it and not take the issue head on, immediately putting emrys back into What She Struggles With (any fight that she cant just plow through with holy justice). so IT DEPENDS on who manages to kill who first, they're evenly matched in their respective talents! their respective talents just Clash greatly.

they're both evoking gods that do not give a shit about any of this during their fight though, which is just sad. honestly what would hurt them more than a fight to the death is probably sitting down and talking about how they're both ignored by god
