Season 2 of OFMD is gonna start with Stede and his crew walking into Spanish Jackie’s with no explanation of how he got them all off that inland in his tiny little boat, and Lucius is just going to be sitting there looking terrified as Spanish Jackie tries to convince him to become one of her husbands.

Thinking about the actual pirate qualifications of Stede's crew as I see them, and I'm pretty sure they fit into four categories:
1) Definitely a Pirate
Buttons - the man is clearly insane which is how he ended up serving as First Mate to Stede but he's got it all. An obsession with the moon and sea. Psychic bond with seagulls. Extreme violence. Inclinations toward cannibalism that he pretends are survival based 🤣
Roach - support role experience. He's one of the few people who has a distinct job but also clearly knows how to do it AND in a pirate context. He's at home in violent combat.
Black Pete - is he a good pirate? No. But I absolutely believe he has extensive deck swabbing / absolute bottom of the hierarchy experience and his piracy career just keeps going nowhere.
2) Maybe a Pirate
Wee John - very close to the threshold but I don't think he's definitive. Suited to the lifestyle with his love of explosions but doesn't act enough like a guy with a job to have experience with gunnery as a job.
Oluwande - strongest "could go either way" of them all. He canonically seems to have a lot of pirate adjacent experience if he was in tight with Spanish Jackie, but it's not clear if her operation involves piracy or even employs pirates. And his motivation for joining Stede is literally "fugitive getting out of town on the first ship that wouldn't ask questions".
3) Not a Pirate (Relevant Skills)
Jim - possibly controversial but true. Also incidentally why I find framing them as the most competent "pirate" on the Revenge to be a bit strange. Their backstory is a vengeance oath against a bandit gang straight out of a western, their skillset is "stabbing", and they only ended up on a boat due to the fugitive thing. Did they even know anything about sailing when they signed on?
Frenchie - his combat and seafaring aptitude is lacking, but he's an accomplished con man and thief. He's got the people manipulation skills. He's potentially got the brains for some real impressive work. He could make an unconventional but extremely fun pirate.
4) Not a Pirate (No Aptitude)
Lucius - maybe controversial that I said Frenchie might make a good pirate but not Lucius, but I'm sticking by it. The only reason he has a future on a pirate ship is because Stede is insane and emotionally stunted and there are career opportunities in that (which he's got the exact right skillset for). They aren't a piracy career though. Even the generally applicable reading and writing skill isn't going to make him a pirate bookkeeper or whatever - there's a mindset aspect. Roach has it, and Lucius very much doesn't.
The Swede - Does this one need explanation? Stede was hiring anyone.

Black Clover Movie thoughts and review:
The movie is a good treat to anime onlys and adds a bit of zest to the story line the manga is currently going with.
You know how Neon Genesis Evangelion has the same movies sent out with essentially the same plot but with a twist? This is what Black Clover Sword Of The Wizard King is going with.
Plot
The plot is a bit of a combination of what Lucius and Patri had going on. Lucius because this is literally some Exodus shit and Patri because it's limited entirety to the clover kingdom. This arc is a mix of Elf Arc and Spade Arc, whether you like or hate it.
It definitely gives the impression of a doomsday movie, where everything is falling apart and the characters somehow gotta survive it. The difference is that this is Black Clover, which means everything is going to be going as fast as humanly possible and survival alone does not get you a passing grade.
In a way, the plot and lore make this a bridge type of movie that connects Elf Arc with Spade Arc. I previously mentioned that Zenon is essentially Dark Timeline Yuno, and with this in mind, Conrad is Dark Timeline Asta. Lots of references back to Lemiel and the duties of Wizard kings to protect the people.
The plot does feel a bit copy pasted but because Conrad STAYED the big bad right up until the end, it gives a bit of a difference.
Conrad betraying the Clover Kingdom and THEN resurrecting the dead Wizard Kings who share his ideals is like pregaming the Lucius arc we have in the arc Currently, and likely will end up being as more fuel to the later parts of the manga arc.
I say this because in this thread, there's an active explanation on Black Clovers story line. The story was always planned to have 3 acts, Elf Arc from 1st to 222nd chapter is the first one, Spade Arc and this movie are second, and the current arc is the last one. This means there's no guarantee that the arc is gonna end with Lucius, but Lucius is a means to an end.
I say this because the story line of the movie fits in with a possible theme the third act is gonna focus on - Why have the Wizard King if all of them end up betraying the country anyway? Conrad and his doomsday plot fits on the same category as Lucius', so he ends up being a second example used against the position of Wizard king. It doesn't introduce anything new, so much as it propagates the already given themes.
Animation
The animation is absolutely killer. If nothing else, watch it for the animation. Every frame feels like it's given proper love and attention, from start to end. This is Black Clovers Neon Genesis Evangelion. Does it repeat the same tune over again? Yes, but it's got a twist to it and the animation is paired with it perfectly.
The JumpFesta that had the official release and exposition of the movie didn't hide that this movie was all about the fights and it was NOT lying. Very choreographed, lots of combination magics and stellar form.
Lore
Ngl, I was hoping for more lore on Wizard Kings and we did get it, but at the same time there was a bit of it all over the place. Nero has a job alongside Sally and Millie, which is out of left field and hilarious. It makes sense she's in a position of looking after Lemiels legacy after he's gone for real, with the development and preservation of magic tools.
We get some history of the wizard Kings and how even if you're the top dog, you still get backstabbers and prejudice. Some new stuff was introduced, like the Clover Olympics (Triumph), Imperial Sword being like an archive of all the wizard Kings and the mana veins, but it also doesn't go into depth on the history, origins or proper definitions. It's giving the audience pieces to work with but at the same time, this has been Tabata's way of work and we're kinda tired of guessing and getting crumbs to follow rather than a map.
What it DOES give the impression of picking up is that the role of the Wizard King is full of people wanting to hurt you and sacrifice. Lemiel sacrificed his life to protect the kingdom, Princia was ostracised for her insane strength and maybe sexism, Edward was trying to run churches for orphans to help them and ended up having all of that destroyed, Jester personally has seen the hellish oppression the nobles and royals dish out, Conrad had lost his ENTIRE squad and wife and ended up becoming a villain and Julius essentially lost his autonomy and freedom.
Being the Wizard King is both power and bondage and Asta's gonna have to implement some HELLA mad changes if he doesn't wanna end up the same way.
Characters
The movie is focused on repeating themes to hammer them down more, so some characters end up sorta placing in there as props or soldiers. Noelle had a good beginning run but ended up losing her magic, which made me a bit disappointed but her getting her luster back at the end and carrying the Edward fight was slay. The talk between her and Edward was giving grandfather vibes, and from Edwards flashbacks, one could almost assume that Edward is related to the Silvas somehow. The beginning of the movie had Asta and Noelle tagteaming in fights, so the movie seems to fill in the cracks of development we didn't get in the first timeskip.
If this movie has nothing, at least it has Mereos Lesbian Fighting Wedding. The current manga arc shows that Mereo is more than a fighting maniac and this movie hammers that point in. She cares about her squad, her brothers, Yami and even Asta. She fights as a way to connect to the people around her. This fucken movie loves Mereoleona more than anyone and they make it obvious.
Princia is like Dark Timeline Mereo, but instead of trying to kill each other like Zenon and Yuno or trying to get the other to switch sides like Asta and Conrad, Mereo and Princia are actively making out with their fists. The entire fight is Yaoi For Lesbians and its absolutely perfect for pride month.
Sekke, as per Tabata's Plan of The Gods as the best male runner up for Best Girl, is there. Unlike previous shows of his character in the anime and how he's currently inspired by Asta in the manga, Sekke acts as the civilian voice of reason in the movie. Sekke is a small-town boy who joined the magic Knights and is, once again, faced with a continental threat that threatens the kingdom. Naturally, the safest and SANEST way to go about this, especially for people who don't have the tools to stop it, is to run away. Evacuate and run to heart, because frankly they have better chances of doing that AND making it out alive than fighting Conrad.
Asta even actively acknowledged that that point IS the safest thing to do, for those who are aware they can't do it. It's a nice little touch up because most cowardly characters are looked down in shounen, but it's nice for it to eventually be shown as a reasonable response, even if Sekke is cowering the whole time cause what else is he supposed to do.
Yami in this movie was like the typical Yami we see, and it's nice to see how in this he always prioritises the people he cares about. Refusing Julius' orders to protect him, sending Noelle, Asta and Finral to run to the labs, even making an opening for the rest of the Knights to escape and telling Yuno to go and take care if Asta. This man is a team player and it shows.
Villains
Conrad, Conrad, Conrad. The mid-life crisis baby girl. The Miguel O'Hara of Black Clover.
When I say that this man is Dark Timeline Asta, I mean it. This man is EVEN AWARE OF IT. He sees himself in Asta and rather than hating that naive part of him, is projecting onto Asta and wants to reward him. Genuinely the first antagonist who Asta respects to a degree and vice versa. The man asks on 3 different occasions how he wants Asta to join and holds back on actively killing him until the very end.
This man became everything Asta wanted to be and ended up losing his squad, his wife and his love for the kingdom and decided to go full Lucius. Even then, he's still mentally ill enough to see the parallels and wanting Asta to become his successor. It's a way of self care through projection. He's so mentally ill. I know they had to kill him for continuity stability, which in BC is held up by glue and popsicle sticks, but if this man had lived to see Lucius pull his shit, he would've been the first to run around looking for Asta and ragging Lucius for killing him.
Princia and Edward share a but of a foil. Princia was feared and avoided to the point where she repressed all her emotions behind fighting, whereas Edward lost his entire support network and was traumatised by it. All the wizard Kings are traumatised. It begins to feel like a rite of passage.
Jester is a wild card. He talks about oppression and how uts affects people like he's seen it first hand, but he's the only dude who never gets a flashback. He's mysterious as fuck. You can't pinpoint this man's priorities.
In-Conclusion:
The movie is a fixer-upper in some cases, depending on the audience and expectations. JumpFesta made it obvious that the selling points were the fights, but the lore and little to no character interactions made it a bit lackluster. If added to canon, it feeds the anime only fans and manga fans may have an additional bullet to shoot in terms of "the final arc is gonna be about disbanding the wizard king title".
All in all, I'd give this 7.5/10. Very solid for what it promised, but super good parts either overshadow or make the bad ones stand out more. A bit flashy, but for a movie of a genre where said movies actively implement new abilities which never show up in Canon, Sword of the Wizard King sticks to what is already known and reiterates the valuable themes.

💚 Finally safe 💚 - Part 1
Severus Snape x reader
Summary: Y/N gets abducted before the battle of Hogwarts and now with the help of Lucius Severus found you and after a check-up at St. Mungo's he takes you home. But the things you survived haunt you.
Warning/content: mention of kidnapping, starvation, slight mention of torture, kissing, protective Severus, mostly fluff
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cellar's door opened and I was ready to fight with my bare hands if it meant I won't end up in the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange again. It felt like forever since one of the death eaters came down here. My stomach gurgled like crazy but right now the only thing I was focused on, was the two pairs of feet whose owners were carefully descending the stairs.
I was ready.
I hid behind the corner of the small wall next to the grate, with the rock that I found. The plan was to let them in, struck the one at the end on the head, then sprint out of there. It wasn't a great plan but it was the only one I had.
As the strangers stepped through the grate, I moved to execute the plan, but the owner of the blonde hair, who was standing in front of me, suddenly turned and caught my hand. I could see Lucius pulling me up and handing me to Bellatrix for another round of torture. I wasn't proud of it, but I was overcome with fear and my whole body began to tremble.
'Lucius!' I heard a familiar voice, dark and commanding which made the man who squeezed my wrist, let me go and step away from me.
And there he stood. The bat of Hogwarts or as I got to know him, the Half-Blood Prince.
Severus Snape.
There was no time for me to react, as he enveloped me in his warm hug, pulling me closer to himself. When he finally let me go his black eyes fixated on my E/C orbs as though he was trying to look inside my soul.
'Are you alright?' came the low growling voice once again, the same one I missed all these days or weeks (I had no idea how long they kept me here).
'No. But I will be now' I murmured as I nestled in the comfort he provided.
Not letting me go, he apparated what I assumed was St. Mungo's because it was so white compared to the cellar that I had to squint.
The healers sent out Severus which didn't help my nerves at all. They examined every scar that Bellatrx has left on my body and provided instructions for my full recovery, but said that if I can follow their directive then I'm free to go home.
I was relived and didn't want to give them the chance to keep me there for unnecessary check-ups, so I rushed out of the hospital room.
I stepped through the door, Severus immediately stepped up next to me, curling his left arm around my waist.
'Let's go home, darling' he said in my hair with a kiss.
'That sounds perfect' and with that, we apparated back to the little cottage where Jerome, Severous's mentor, waited for us with tea and biscuits as if nothing had happened.
'Y/N! How very nice to get you back!' hugged me the older man as soon as we stepped through the door. Severus took a step back to let him greet me but the dark-haired wizard looked like he is not gonna let me out of his sight for a while. The older wizard hugged me and that was the only indication of how worried he was because that hug... Merlin's beard... It felt like a desperate death trap.
'Thanks, Jerome I am glad to be back too' I smiled still a bit weak smile as I stepped back next to Sev. His hands immediately found mine and intertwined our fingers.
'I am gonna escort Y/N up to her room, she needs to rest for a while' growled Severus as an explanation for why he started to pull me towards the stares before we left the older wizard alone.
I would have tried and argued but he was so tense that I feared he could spontaneously combust any given second, so I just followed silently.
When the door closed behind us I let out a big sigh.
I was home.
With Severus.
And most importantly I was free.
The ex-slytherin's eyes followed me as I stepped up to the bed and just dropped down on it, suddenly feeling as tired as I have never felt before.
'You should sleep. I am not going anywhere. You are free and you are safe' he said calmly to calm my nerves and reassure me. A wide range of emotions still painted across his face: desperation, fear, anger, and some kind of calm that I assumed he felt at the thought of me being safe again.
'I'm not entirely sure if I can...' I whispered with my eyes fixated on the floor. I didn't know what will happen to Sev and me but I was certain that for a while I'm not gonna be able to leave behind the memory of Bellatrix's torture.
The trauma I experienced left a void in me that I couldn't explain to anyone or deal with yet, because I felt that if I confronted myself with what had happened, it would destroy me and I would never find my old self again.
Yet this discovery was immidiatley pushed away by the fact that I needed the dark-haired wizard more than ever.
'She used the Cruciatus curse on me' I said through my Legilimens ability hoping it would reach the man, standing before the door.
Either he was already ready to read my mind or he just sensed that I wasn't ready to speak out loud about what happened, he was ready to receive my message and his face told me everything in response.
If he could have had the chance to bring back the dark witch just so he can kill her again, he would.
He moved slowly towards me, kneeling before my tired body, taking my right in his hands.
For what felt like an eternity we just stayed there looking at each other and trying to communicate everything without words.
It was peaceful and in any other circumstance I would have enjoyed the situation, but right now I didn't want silence. I needed a distraction.
Anything at this point.
So before I could stop myself, cluching Severus as if he was a lifeline in the middle of the ocean, I moved closer and I kissed him gently as I repeated my mantra inside my head:
I am home.
I am with Serverus.
I am free.

genuinely, episode 8 was terrible. and like yeah, it's in part because of the slashed run time and max almost certainly behind the scenes saying that a s3 would need a hail mary but oh myyyy gooood
where was the development for zheng/jim/olu/archie?? why did auntie suddenly give her blessing to olu?? what changed her mind about softness?? where was the change except for the watsonian explanation that auntie and izzy mirror each other in their roles to their captains??
why did they fucking kill izzy - a disabled, elder queer man with a visible scar from a past suicide attempt?? and then it being to "free" ed from blackbeard!! but he had already let go of blackbeard. he was already offering support to ed to choose what made him happy just last episode!! it was ed who chose to return to the blackbeard leathers and it was completely independent of izzy!
(and god, the optics of killing off a suicide attempt survivor just to further another character's arc!!! and also that he's a queer man off who'd already survived suicide!!! killing off a disabled man to further the arc of the able bodied man that directly led to the disability!!! what the fuck!!)
(and that one shot implying izzy couldn't pivot to avoid getting a deadly belly shot because his leg limited his mobility. the implication that a disabled character died via his disability is just!!! it sucks man)
and also izzy saying ed's got a family and then it ends with just ed and stede alone while everyone sails off into the sunset? ok, and did the family promise to stay in touch? or do we not know that because the show chose to rush shit instead of just trying to make a more open but better paced ending work?
and god ed and stede's relationship was so rushed! ed reads a love letter from stede, they fight some brits, and suddenly their very real relationship problems are solved? what about their mutual issues around responsibility? what about their mutual issues around violence? what about ed being upset at stede for rushing things between them and becoming a bit of a fame monster? how am i supposed to believe that theyre emotionally ready to deal with each other's traumas?
neither of them have even remotely begun to learn how to support each other and learn to disagree healthily! nothing about their latest break up was resolved! stede still moved too fast, ignored ed's wishes about killing ned, and still was a fame monster! and ed still had issues with loving himself and viewing himself as someone beyond blackbeard! they've had some major disagreements and issues and those issues havent been properly explored or resolved!!
and god, ed's character arc!! where is he at the end of the season? has he been magically fixed by one of his oldest companions dying in his arms? he was on the first steps to healing and where is the rest? is the rest going to be fixed by stede's magic dick a la a fanfic? is it going to be fixed by completely divorcing himself from his time as blackbeard and so completely denying a part of his identity and years of his life?
and don't even get me started on how stede and ed's reunion run on the beach was juxtaposed with stede's s2ep1 dream spot of ed in a full beard and not talking in his real voice, in a dream sequence imo that clearly showed that stede was himself also not seeing ed fully for himself and instead for a different version of him!!
honestly, the only things i'm happy about are that lucius and pete are married (despite the jarring and tonally deaf tone change of all that) and that spanish jackie and the swede are chilling and scheming. otherwise everything feels bad and i hate it here

So, on Izzy seemingly enjoying the violence Ed does to him. I've been thinking if an explanation if it is that it's the Fawn response to trauma/abuse/fear? Responding to fear by trying to appease the person making them afraid.
Once the situation turns violent against Izzy, his demeanor changes (his face going from tense to slack when Stede has the knife in his face, his smile when Ed chokes him, making himself smile during the toe scene) and he attempts to deescalate the situation ("What are your demands?" when Stede has the knife in his face, "What can I do differently, huh? I'm open to suggestions!" when getting mutinied, stroking Ed's face and saying "there he is" while being choked, asking Edward if he should fetch Lucius after the toe incident) often by trying to appeal to the person threatening him (literally 3/4 of the previous examples and in the fourth example I'm not including in that 3/4 he's literally stroking Ed's face so...?) which seems to me like fawning.
So I don't think Izzy does actually enjoy these things, I think that's simply how he responds to being threatened in an attempt to stay safe.
Hmmm. Yeah, I can see that. I'm not positive I agree - mostly because I like reading him as masochistic, and his attraction to Ed would make anything like that seemingly sexy to him, but I don't think "fawn response" and "masochistic and into Ed slamdunking him like a basketball" is necessarily mutually exclusive, now I'm typing this, so hmmmm.
I think with Ed I tie it in with enjoying being thrown around by sexy man and Ed is the sexy man for Izzy
but Stede, the crew, and asking if he wants him to fetch Lucius? Yeah I can totally see that. Especially since fawn responses (in my experience from the outside) are often deeply psychological in that the person fawning actually believes what they're saying (that the person yelling/hurting them is in the right actually and they deserve it).
On the other hand, I'm not sure someone with a fawn response that strong could survive the pirate life for as long as Izzy surely has? Not without being used as a punching bag way more than I know how to consider.
Then again, if Ed scooped him out of constant punching bag and put him in a position of authority and power and took care of him until he could stand on his own two feet, it would explain a lot about the depths of Izzy's loyalty.

Since you read horus heresy how much Imperium apoligism is in it. Just wondering sorry
So far I'm only at book 4 (minus "A Thousand Sons" which I've read out of order), and here are my impressions:
"Horus Rising" does a good job setting up the grounds for an extended critique of the Imperium. Lots of small "makes you think" moments culminating in the encounter with Interex - a peaceful, prosperous human-xenos alliance which is aware of Chaos being a major threat - and Horus openly asking during the war council: "perhaps the Emperor's model [of human civilization] is too stringent". Future traitors except Erebus are written with care and feel like people who'd fit in an Astartes Legion, even the more... "gun-happy" ones aren't cardboard cutouts with an angry face. Erebus has bad vibes, but isn't doing anything overtly evil (outside of secretly stealing the cursed Warp dagger from Interex and sparking a conveniently timed conflict that prevents the Imperials from learning too much about Chaos).
"False Gods" doesn't really talk about the greater Imperium outside of the subplot about the (for now secret) God-Emperor cult, because it's too busy murdering the character writing from the previous book. Everyone is an idiot, a caricature, or both. Ignace Karkassy, a poet who (after surviving a lynching by Imperial soldiers angered by his drunken nihilistic rant about the Imperium eventually having to come to an end) ends up under captain Loken's "protection", gets repurposed into a writer self-insert to creep on women and occasionally snoop around the growing anti-Imperial/Chaos-driven conspiracy - but his subplot doesn't go too far. People like to meme about Horus' complaints about Imperial taxes and bureaucracy wasting his time, but he actually rebels because of plot convenience. And also because Erebus and his pet Chaos cult show him several psychic visions, including a vision of a future Imperium's shrine world where his father and (loyalist) brothers are worshipped, yet he is forgotten, I guess. Erebus' vibes are now so rancid even Loken starts picking up on them. Overall the book still makes an "Imperium bad" statement - a very flat, weak and unconvinced one - but also deploys fascist dogwhistles (for example avantgarde/modern/abstract etc. art being seen as worthless) without a hint of irony, doesn't really follow on what "Horus Rising" set up, and makes everyone on Chaos/traitor side blatantly and downright cartoonishly evil with next to no buildup or explanation. Horus wakes up from the Chaos dagger nap and is now a total asshole. So are Abaddon and Aximand, for some reason.
"Galaxy in Flames" and "Flight of the Eisenstein" (so far) suffer from having to follow up on "False Gods" and not having 1-2 books that'd elaborate on the Legions joining Sons of Horus in Istvaan system, forcing them to either squeeze in some last minute character buildup or just not elaborate on the Legion past superficial impressions ("Galaxy..." expands a little on EC, but largely skims over WE and DG aside from bringing up Garro). They also start falling into the mold of writing heroic loyalists - Loken, Torgaddon, Saul Tarvitz and Nathaniel Garro are all brave, kind, loyal, fighting for the good of mankind - vs. nasty traitors with little to no redeeming qualities - Eidolon is an arrogant and barely competent jerk, Lucius is a jealous narcissist, Abaddon is a bloodthirsty sadist, Aximand is an obedient tool, World Eaters are only here to murder things, Typhon feels like a rehash of Erebus (bad vibes, quietly sows anti-Imperial dissent and riles up others against the pro-Imperial faction of the Legion), and Grulgor is a rude arrogant asshole and a bully. "Flight..." has me especially worried so far because it centers the conflict between "Emperor-loyal" Terrans like Garro and "Primarch-loyal" Barbarossians while making it painfully binary and lacks mortal characters who can question Garro on his belief in the Imperium being a "force for good" like "Horus Rising". "Galaxy..." isn't too far behind though because of how it frames the fast-growing Emperor Cult and its "saint" as a good, holy force standing against the "darkness" of Chaos. There could be something to be said about religion giving people hope and relief, but sadly what we end up with lines up a lot with how Imperial faith in modern 40K gets framed in marketing and codexes - as if it's a wholly separate "sacred" anti-Chaos power and not just Catholic-flavored psykery.
It's been a while since I touched "A Thousand Sons" and I'd have to read it carefully again to separate my headcanons and early impressions from the actual text of the book. Unfortunately so far my attempts were squandered by either the story beats accidentally touching some personal sore spots (Council of Nikaea), hitting me with a wave of anxiety when I was already a frayed bundle of nerves (buildup to destruction of Human Webway and Burning of Prospero), or McNeill continuing his trademark Heresy novel habit of creeping on fictional women - and in ATS it specifically sets off a major trigger for me. Anyway, from what I remember the book is kind of... mixed on that front - on one hand Thousand Sons are fighting a losing battle to appease the Imperium which despises them on principle ("the more they know about us, the more they'll hate us") and many of Magnus' flaws are also the Emperor's flaws, but on the other I got the impression that the book is a little too happy to slam TSons for "abuse of power" and arrogance in a kind of... fash-dogwhistle-y ways. Like "your reliance on your powers makes you weak and soy, you should be a strong violent macho soldier who detests convenience and only cleans his gun with his hands", or "knowing too much about psykery is bad because you may as well be dabbling with Chaos and consorting with daemons without realizing it". The same kind of narrative that people will invoke to unironically claim that human spirit is so weak and easily tempted that it needs a dystopian tyranny and aggressive propaganda to be kept "strong" against "corruption". Y'know, another fash dogwhistle.
Tl;Dr: it starts off good enough, but then "False Gods" hits the second tower and everything falls apart. It may get better later, but I'm not going to read all the Heresy books. I also hope Graham McNeill grew and changed a lot since 2006-2009 because Jesus fucking Christ.

everything you said in your post, yes! but i was referencing this particular article from wizardingworld (that - harry potter's official site?) that basically stated that snape being in love with lily was "vital" for the plot and even went as far as to describe that if he wasn't "in love" perhaps he wouldn't have done half of the things he did. as in the intensity of his devotion and care were only motivated by romantic feelings, nothing else, only friendship wouldn't have had any power on him to make him "change". it pissed me off. the whole concept of him ""pinning"" forever has only had people say awful things about him when he never regarded his feelings for lily (the nature of them) in the story, only r*wling ever did, and no matter what they try to counterpoint to demonize his feelings, aside from snapping at her with a bad term and lack of grace, his behavior towards her wasn't very out of pocket. he wasn't like the actual devil to her. she wasn't any better than him as a friend either so trying to antagonize him and then going "pwoor lily snape was So mean and controlling to her úwù!!1" like????? naaaahhhh
I think I found the article that you're talking about. Is it 'What if Snape had never been in love with Lily Potter?'
Without Snape falling for Lily, we doubt their friendship would have survived for as long as it did.
Keeping Lily on side wouldn’t have mattered as much to him – and she wouldn’t have been there as the conscience to keep him on track.
Oh boy... that was horrible. Who's this 'we' anyway, cuz that ain't me.
People need to remember that Severus came from a dysfunctional family and Lily Evans was the first person to genuinely care about him, something that even the Slytherin gangs weren't able to provide to him. Sure, they respected and (maybe) looked up to him, but they weren't exactly close like him and Lily. So even if Severus wasn't romantically interested in Lily (personally, I already thought his love for her was platonic but whatever), he would still cherish and care for her as a friend.
The only person besides Lily who had ever shown him kindness in his memory was Lucius. We saw Lucius welcoming Severus into Slytherin with open arms and later taking him as a protégé during their school years. The fact that Lucius was shown in his memory but not Mulciber made me believe that he was not as important to Severus. The only reason he hesitated to choose between Mulciber and Lily was because he was blinded by his interest in the Dark Arts and he knew that Mulciber was destined to be part of the group he would soon join.
Not once have we seen Mulciber protect Severus from Marauders' attacks. Where was he during SWM? If Severus was truly close with Mulciber, this would be a vital part of his life, and he would have included him in his memory. If he can include Lucius, then he could have included Mulciber as well.
One thing I have learned is to ignore whatever the fuck JK Rowling said after the book ended. Not only was she very inconsistent, but some of her statements also make no sense. In an interview, Rowling stated that Severus joined the Death Eaters to impress Lily.
He wanted Lily and he wanted Mulciber too. He never really understood Lily’s aversion; he was so blinded by his attraction to the dark side he thought she would find him impressive if he became a real Death Eater.
How does that even make sense? How would Lily be impressed with Severus joining a group that targeted people like her? The only plausible explanation for this is that Severus believed Lily was attracted to bad boys, which was somewhat confirmed by J.K. Rowling herself.
MA: How did they get together? She hated James, from what we’ve seen.
JKR: Did she really? You’re a woman, you know what I’m saying. [Laughter.]
But it still doesn't make any sense because joining a cult that targets the person you love is fundamentally different from bullying, and it's hard to imagine that Severus wouldn't have recognized that. I'm pretty sure he was smart enough to know that it wouldn't work.
Well moral of the story, just don't give a fuck about whatever Jk Rowling/the official website say. Besides, that article was based on personal opinions, not facts. "We doubt" is the key word here. These were all just assumptions.

Headcanon time to try and explain the King Daddy disrespect:
Since he was floating around a space/time void for so many years vs the others running around fighting and doing what they can to survive in the darkened world, Noctis’s growth was stunted which is how he stayed with his young body (probably with some muscle atrophy) while Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio got bigger and buffer. Also, he had no means of shaving and got the unfortunate scuffy beard genes from somewhere in the Lucius bloodline. —💕

This makes a lot of sense, bless you Anon. I still don’t like that he looks like a bobble head, but with this explanation I can like… stop being so 😒 about it, LOL!
… I’ll still be mad that he had to die, tho. That I will carry to my own grave!

Actually you know how ofmd season 2 will start? It will start with a frozen shot of Lucius’s terrified face as he falls through the air with a voiceover playing “yup that’s me, plummeting to my death. Well, more like being ruthlessly tossed overboard to my death. You’re probably wondering how I got to this situation. Sometimes I wonder myself...” followed by the most intricate balls-to-the-wall bonkers explanation of how he survived and he's living in the secret passages and whatnot

imagine if yuu was from the little nightmares universe?
This was REALY FUN to write THANK YOU FOR THE ASK!
LN! Yuu
So tiny, and so thin it worries anyone that sees them
I'm assuming LN Yuu is the appropriated age for NRC, They survived long enough so They have mad skills at dodging, hiding, surviving.
Touch starved and hugs Grim like their life dependents on it
All the staff members freaked them out at first, bc: adults THAT AREN'T DEFORMED??? WHAT KINDA OF HALLUCINATION IS THIS??
Knows basic alphabet, and talks only the basic too, "hi" "hey" "here" "ok" "no"
They associated the uniform with "They are children too" so when meeting the tallest boys, They may be uneasy but the uniform saves them from a full on panic-atack
Leona and Malleus tried to explain that "no, I'm not a kid" but Yuu just points and says louder "Kid!" Noone can convince them otherwise
Was so suspicious of Ace on the beggining bc He was mean to them but grew to care
They care very much about anyone that's their friend so They make sure everyone is feeded, no matter if the kitchen staff would give more to anyone that asks, if one of the brain cell trio says they are hungry, Yuu will give their portion to them no questions asked, They're still working on this "bad habit" as the others say
They awake Ruggie's and Jack's big bro instincts and are almost immediately adopted by the savanaclaw trio
Very slippery according to Floyd
Rook's delighted to have a hunting partner and teaches Yuu more huntting technics and how to cook the animals They hunt with a sprinkle of first aid kit
Their primary way of showing care is by touching, holding hands, hugging, laying back to back, they're always touching their friends, on some "napping" days They seem lost in thoughts, looking a the sky while tightening their hold on a friends hand, usually Leona or Silver
Crowley is very careful around them and on the beggining gives them very easy and strangely healthy tasks
Divus is less flashy on Class A to not scare them, always gently petting their head no matter the out come of the group's potion, He scolds the other partners later
Trein is quite pleased that Yuu's more comfortable on his classes, always fully awake, some days Lucius robs Grim's spot and get realy good scratches, their memory is very good as He discovers while asking questions and is answered with the exactly same words He used to explain the subject, on spare time He's Yuu's alphabet teacher.
Vargas is impressed with the tiny thing agility and surprisingly strength! Easily one of His favorites, They need to gain weight tho, so He makes sure to give tips like eating raw eggs
Sam was a little suspicious of the child, His friends on the other side have said some interesting things about their "magic aura" that is supose to not exist, but grows fonder as the days passes by and He sees a little hint of curiosity and wonder in their eyes
As the days passes They look more and more healthy on this world and their first smile was on Trein's presence, He's very smug about it
There may or may not be happening a custody battle over this child bc Crowley ain't gonna send them back, no sir, HAVE YOU SEEN THE THINGS THE MIRROR SHOWED???
The ghost trio is winning the custody without anyone knowing, They were te ones to help Yuu understand basic chores and hygiene
Now for the fun part, the overblots
For them it's like another Tuesday
They've seen too many giant monsters to be startled now.
Yuu was ready to shot Ridle in the face
when the battle's over and Riddle comes back to normal, unlike the dwarfs mine's monster, They just stare... lost in thoughs... nobody knows what they were thinking, but Grim can attest that They cried... a lot that night.
Trust in Riddle got Dow for a little bit, however after a very detailed explanation on overblots They hugged Riddle so hard
Ever since then, after every overblot They hug the victim
The best at dodging and finding creative ways to defeat the monsters
Strangest thing is that the monsters always target them when They Scream a command and especialy when they're using themself as bait
When the battles became more dangerous They're sent to the infirmary, the nurse is horrified at their old injuries
When Grim starts going feral, everyone knows something is wrong, Yuu's scared of Him
When He overblots Yuu loses it
Screams, cries, reality itself looks to be changing around them. This is feral LN Yuu
The boys need to stop Yuu from hurting themselfs, Grim and everybody else
They spend three years at NRC
On the final day of their third year they ask to go back
"There are more children on my world, I want to help them before time's up"

Sirius x twin!reader where he runs away and doesn't say goodbye or anything, and they've always had a bad relationship because reader is like regulus and sirius is, well, sirius. baso angst where the reader is now ignoring sirius at hogwarts and sirius is trying to talk to her which is strange because before it was the other way round. she snaps and tells sirius how he knew what would happen if she ran away, and it was that she would get twice as many bad things to make up for sirius not (1)

despair.
dejection.
guilt.
it was clear as day in your thought-stricken mind, without a second thought it ran thickly through your families veins for generations. every single heir of the noble house of black had the one ranging emotion of anything in a malicious, loathsome, vile and horrid context.
brothers, they were suppose to protect their siblings, love and nurture them above anyone else. they were suppose to kiss your forehead when you were sad, play with your barbies till they wanted to rip out their eyes because you had nobody else to play with, they were suppose to show another emotion than trepidation.
twins, the bond shared between them in unmatchable to any other sibling, they shared a womb for nine months, a direct bond, no seperation for nine months, thirty nine weeks, two hundred and seventy three days, a total of six hundred, five thousand and seventy hours together. a bond that should last a lifetime, of happiness, absentminded chuckles, homeliness, and love.
that’s what it should have, that’s how it should look in the peering eyes of anyone who had looked upon the similar featured siblings.
sixteen years, the only thing you had receiving in attempts of happiness, absentminded chuckles, homeliness, and love; but not everybody got what they wanted, in return you had received the raw sickly end of despair, dejection and guilt. what could such a young girl do to upset her brother from the very second her life begun? since the first weep that left sirius’ mouth, it almost felt like a duty ringing through your brain like a recurrent lullaby rather than a curse to be ignored by your family, and to only serve them when they deemed necessary for your forgotten presence.
rather than the lullaby on how a spider ran up a web, the only word familiar words in your brain since the ripe age of six was ‘crucio.’ the red tinging flare that sped across your living room like a jolt of lightening from the sky had just become a familiar sight to see at while your panic stricken figure strided through your house for just a few seconds more of peace.
dense words could be shared with your twin, not even a ‘good morning’ on most days. maybe a subtle nod when he first saw you as you both woke from your slumber if you were lucky, maybe even a sparing glance once or twice throughout the day. the first and last born female at the hands of walburga and orion black was simply ignored, a nobody, absolutely and completely nothing.
atleast sirius was there, he may not have spoke to you, or even looked in your direction but his presence in the dreadful household could’ve been enough, enough to put your blearing mind at ease for the night. that you had survived another day, that the next passing day his presence still comforted you because he was still there, that even though he didn’t protect you; he could protect regulus when he deemed fit, and as much as it put you in a absentminded agony, you appreciated his efforts to your youngest brother.
the following morning you woke up, his presence was diminished. his aura had vanished, the pungent smell of nicotine had left no trace on the stygian walls, the husk smell of expensive leather no longer enveloped in your ventilation and the irritating scent of his nose itching cologne was in absentia.
twin-tuition the muggles muttered, when two siblings who shared a whom could know almost everything and anything about each other without a second blip of thought. the walk to his room was excruciating, because in your heart his comforting presence had fled. the pink floyd and beatles posters had been torn from the walls, the mahogany wood from his drawers had been completely dismembered and his closet had been utterly ransacked.
he had left; he had left you.
that was the feeling of despair.
not even a note in his absence, not an explanation, not a second thought, sirius was gone; and sirius was not ever coming back.
the duration of the winter ‘holidays’ had seemingly passed slower than usual with the absence of your brother, the dismembering two weeks had finally been put on hold on your mind. finally finding the will to get out of your bed and put your mental health back to where it could’ve functioned at a less than normal way, the usual way. except you were sent back onto the hogwarts express only clinging onto the younger brother you had left, mind you he would’ve went off the second he stepped aboard but three seconds with your brother could’ve put you off for nine hours.
there was no will to try, no persuasive black ‘i get what i want’ attitude left churning in your system, the feeling of disgust trembling through your veins that your family would never accept you as long as you remained ‘y/n’ and not ‘y/n black,’ so you had to do what was right to protect regulus. because even though his nurturing feelings were inattentive, you would still do what was necessary to protect him.
if you weren’t the keen resemblance of your family you could’ve believed that you were adopted, having no will to become a follower of the dark lord, and no will to produce dark magic.
yet, you did what you had to do, an action that in no way would have been thought about for you; but you had what the other noble heirs lacked, compassion.
every corner you turned you had no will to search for the gryffindor brunette, your eyes didn’t erratically search for his searing silver irises, you didn’t attempt to decipher the red and gold colours from the green and silver that could’ve been crowded amongst the library, or the great hall. any will you had left for the receiving end of love from your family had utterly vanished.
that was the feeling of dejection.
sirius knew that prior years to hogwarts that you had rapidly searched for him in every single corner, mind you even there was a possibility he wasn’t there; you never faltered, you still gaped intently. it gave him the slight aching pain that he carried with himself, but the viridescent green you wore had him believing that you were simply no better than lucius malfoy or evan rosier.
it began to itch at his neck that you no longer had the need to know if he cared, if he was in the same room as you, if you even had the decree to call him your brother anymore. seemingly, you were always in between the walls of the library, a vermillion, maybe amber hued book sturdy between your hands in your grasp as you flipped the pages.
if you hadn’t shared the infamous last name, people would have never believed the two of you were what you called siblings, twin brother and sister. the epitome prankster, outgoing, and womanizer of hogwarts, the timid, skittish, quiet pureblood slytherin; and they just happened to share the same blood.
the female twin adorned reading, not because each book had different words carved upon its ivory paper, and not because there were hidden messages upon the words she so happen to enjoy deciphering but she loved reading partially because it allowed her to cry over someone else’s sadness when she could no longer identify her own.
her heart left sunken, submerged into somebody else’s misery because her own feelings enough weren’t able to bare.
he was silent for once, his mouth not barking up a laugh with his mates, he wasn’t sauntering around like he owned hogwarts himself, he was timidly walking into the depths of the library that were hidden from students. he was suddenly thoughtless, but his mind was not clear, and now face to face with the ghost of his sister; someone whom he had no intention to know, but now the wave of empathy ridden into his bloodstream as he saw the sudden tears glaze her eyes.
“you— you don’t look for me anymore. i noticed that, you don’t try and, try and look.” he started almost rudely, the first sentence he had ever uttered to his sibling was assumably how she didn’t care for his presence anymore. he was unable to produce many words at his shock, his nimble fingers anxiously shoving themselves into the grey slacks he had boughten for this years semester.
“i tried, at first. but you’re not worth a look anymore, sirius, because everywhere i go, the shadow of you is all i see.” as you contributed your words they only continued to be more broken, and stammered. the whimper in your tone clear as day as you spoke to someone you once called family, and now a sudden stranger.
“you left sirius, you left your sister, you left your brother. you left the people that needed you most because you’re selfish, you were thinking of you, not of us. so you don’t fucking deserve to be considered anymore, you don’t earn my respect on being thought about, sirius,” you were tired, achingly tired of fighting. you were tremendously exhausted of trying to fight for just a tinge of acknowledgments from your family members.
“you knew if you ran and you didn’t take us with you it would get worse, and you did it anyway. that makes you a coward, i guess the sorting hat does make mistakes after all.” you concluded, now wearied from your brother suddenly giving you the time of day when you don’t care to yearn for it anymore. his decisions affecting you single-handedly the most, your emotions no longer considering his aching feelings as his sister dismissed him at the similar treatment you had recurrently received.
“now i’ve got this penetrating, life altering ink on my wrist, because of your foolish actions. i have to pay for it, and a husband awaiting me. so now that you’re going all cry baby on me because i don’t try and find you anymore, you can stick your dreary where it came from because your damage is done.”
he had no thoughts, no words, completely ambushed. his older twin sister, someone whomst he adorned as his role model as a young boy, something he would never admit to as a child due to his stubborn nature, was now a death eater and profused in an arranged marriage because he couldn’t give a thought about his despairing twin. but now sirius had finally revived the raw end of the final emotion,
he had felt the emotion of guilt.
because even though he was trying to scoundrel some effort of empathy towards you the only thing displayed in front of him was the way your eyes spoke a thousand words but no one ever took the time to read them.
he never took time to read them.
“you need to leave— you need to run! w—why are you still there?” he started to hastily question as he peered at you erratically. his mind suddenly starting to boggle with questions as to why you would keep yourself in such a harmful situation, why you wouldn’t just run like he did.
it was simple to you, you weren’t selfish, you weren’t sirius.
“because i cannot leave regulus in that god forsaken house, the dark lord and his pesky followers would find me, and our parents would torture me, and murder me without remorse.” you finished, saying it too him like you had scribbled it upon a paper and practiced reading it every night like you were preparing for an exam, as if you would be questioned and persuaded to leave under the hands of your parents.
“i heard you— with regulus, you wanted to take him but not me. you almost brought him with you to the potters,” you revealed to the gryffindor, finally having the will to tell him clearly, on how he had wronged you in life and that there was absolutely nothing he could do to fix his actions.
“why do you never pick me sirius? why do you not want me as your sister? ‘ve always tried to protect you, why haven’t you done the same?!” at first your tone was monotone, almost dead but as your words continued your patience grew shorter and your rage grew larger.
your hand further having to clasp over your mouth by the end of your sentence before your classmates would’ve have gotten curious, and nosy at the altercation that was happening between the death eater and the disowned behind the shelves.
“i don’t— i don’t know, i just, s’different.” he was left thinking in confusion as to why he treated you differently, maybe it’s because you were the eldest, maybe you were female and in his eyes you possibly resembled his mother, maybe he had absolutely no idea as to why he treated you different.
“you dont— you don’t know? suddenly when i don’t give a shit about you, your yearning for your older sisters love. well guess what sirius, you’re not going to get it. your damage is done and there’s nothing to reverse it; so bugger off with your gryffindor mates, and your new family. if you want regulus to have a decent life from what he can live left, take him now before they take him too.” you concluded,
your first and last conversation occurring with your brother, several words left unsaid as you left him dumbfounded in the library, feeling the shoulder on shoulder collision as you left.
breathe in, breathe out. simple, again, again, again. the valley of tears were almost screaming at your waterline to let loose, to cry, to scream, to do something, anything. perhaps instead, you stood astonishingly still inside the girls lavatory, thinking, just thinking.
‘what did i do in my past life to deserve this now’ it was a simple and clear question, one that could never be answered, one without an explanation.
but yet you yearned for such a simple, yet complicated answer, maybe in another life sirius had the will to know you, your parents had the decree to love you, and maybe you weren’t sent down a path of affliction.
but that was another life, it wasn’t yours.
time went by, seconds, minutes, hours, weeks and years. they flew by, and now you were no longer that sixteen year old girl. you were eighteen, dressed in ivory with a small train at your feet, makeup painted on your eyelids, a small veil placed onto your head and your hands throughly squeezed in another’s; with the dreadful matching injected ink into your inner left fore-arms.
as the years had flew to that moment, lost was a lovely place to find yourself, but it simply wasn’t enough; it would never be enough. you had to wear the mask, ever noble heir of black had their own personal one, the one that covered every detailed flaw of you.
because after watching both of your brother’s, your supposed nurturers, your protectors, the ones that were suppose to love each and every bit of your aching soul left, you never realized how strong you had to be until being strong was your only choice that remained.
because in essence happiness is just blissful delusion, that esentially wouldn’t last forever no matter how exceedingly much you pleaded to merlin for it too last a second, maybe a minute if you were lucky.
but noble heirs of black weren’t lucky, they were cursed. and now you were finally brought upon to carry the tradition your children would be barred with, now carrying the last name of ‘dolohov.’
still remembering clear as day, like the sun was beaming into your viewpoint that one conversation you had shared with sirius in the library. the despairing love still left in your heart for your brother, your brother who stood up for regulus.
no matter how much they dismissed you as their protector, as their sister, as someone who loved them, you would always carry love for them in your trembling heart. after the amount of curses you took in their place, the screaming threats, the weeps from both of your brothers that stained your clothes, the times you had to face your parents in their absence.
you still had love for them, even if it wasn’t returned.
perhaps someday when you found the courage you crawl back home, beaten, defeated, maybe half dead. but not as long as you could remember the mark of family embedded into your heart, and your arm.
the noble heir’s of black, imprisoned, dead, and married off.

Assuming you are still taking questions about the Incredibles (partial question partial rant sorry this got long I have Thoughts): One thing that drives me insane is the world building inconsistencies between the first and second movies, specifically when it comes to the rules of the "magic system," or how the superpowers work. It's a major (and very explicitly stated) point in the first movie that supers can take off their costumes and pass as completely normal people, which we can see clearly in both flashbacks and Syndrome's files. However in the second movie, with the exception of the Incredibles themselves and Voyd, the new Supers are clearly mutation-based, and would be unlikely to pass as normal civilians out of costume. Putting aside the sloppy character design in general, it's really weird to me that something that was such a clear-cut rule in the initial story would be discarded like that. One solution I had for this was that in the First Age of Supers, mutation-based heroes weren't accepted. With those older generations killed off by Syndrome, those more "mutated" would-be heroes can now finally come out of hiding after being shunned for so long. This would have definitely fit the themes of the movie, but I find it unlikely that it was the intended explanation. Pixar most definitely would have made that very obvious had it been the intention. What other factors do you think could have contributed to the wild shift in world building?
... You make a good point! We never see any heroes with mutations until The Incredibles 2! Feel free to rant! That's really interesting!
My running theory is that Supers were created by the government, aka someone found the way to activate the Super gene. It is possible that not everyone made the cut to the Super Hero program and that one of the reasons was that it was because they couldn't get a secret identity.
But I mean... Where did they live? Did they put them in a secret town full of people with mutations? Did they wear very large trench coats? I need answers.
But yes, Reflux is very very old so probably not physically fit to get a job as a super hero. I will argue that Krauscher has the potential to make even more collateral damages than Bob. Screech is... an owl.
Okay, you know what, they clearly didn't make the cut because of the mutations but you can argue that they didn't have the right of power.
As for Voyd and Electric Guy, I am going to argue that they were too young to be part of the first generation of heroes and that's why they have the usual character design.
So yes, what could explain the character shifts is that all the heroes we saw in The Incredibles were selected, had to go through training, and were obviously affiliated with the government (Bob didn't get his car with his own money). But to obtain all that, they had to graduate from whatever program they were in and I think that anyone who didn't make the cut, either because they weren't "stealthy" enough or because they weren't qualified enough, and they are the ones who survived Syndrome's purge.
So it's fun to consider that Bob, Helen and Lucius are the only remaining heroes actually trained for the job. Because I doubt that Devtech gave the same kind of training to the new generation.
