“Fuck my life; why the hell is he in here?” you exclaim as Sirius Black saunters into the library with all the swagger and arrogance of someone ready to cause a riot.
“Here we go”, another student mutters under their breath from across the room. You weren’t sure who, but you glared in the general direction of whoever had said it.
It was infamous that you absolutely loathed Sirius, and he, in return, hated you with just as much passion. You were natural enemies; he was in prideful Gryffindor, and you a cunning Slytherin, but the hatred delved deeper than just this. You thought he was a pompous, arrogant prick who bullied Slytherins - mostly you - and seemed to always get away with it every single time. He had directed his pranks towards you more times than you’d care to count. You were constantly on high alert, paranoid that another attack was coming from the Gryffindors. Seeing any shade of red filled your heart with dread every single day.
Today, you were having a relatively good morning, mostly spent revising in the library with a towering pile of books beside you. It was a warm summer’s day, so most students were outside, which was always your favourite time to study, not having to fight with the others for specific books or for an area of the library to work.
Another reason you preferred to stay in the castle was that the Marauders were likelier to be out, causing havoc where the crowds were formed. You cursed loudly at seeing them in the library, instantly ruining your calm day.
“Well, well, look what dirt turned up in the library. I’m surprised you even know how to read, Sunshine”, Sirius taunts as he immediately struts over to your table, picking up one of the books in your pile and idly flicking through it whilst leaning his weight against the table.
You sigh heavily through your nose at the nickname, loathing it more than any other pet name that he decided to call you, mainly as it originated from a prank in your first year where he’d stained your hair bright luminous yellow and thus, Sunshine was his favourite taunt. “Please fuck off, I’m only going to warn you the once Black, and give me the book back!”
“Why would I leave? These books all seem highly intelligent for your silly little mind. Maybe I should help read to you, see here, this is what they call the ‘title’, it means what the book is called-”
“Sirius, I swear to Merlin, if you don’t shut the fuck up-”
“What’s going on here?” the librarian rushes over, interrupting your seething threat with her stern face, glancing between you and Sirius, who was grinning, ready to woo the teacher.
“Oh, nothing at all, Professor. I was just asking if I could borrow this book when she started to shout at me”, Sirius explained with surprisingly good acting skills that had your eyes widening and mouth gaping open with anger.
Before you could even begin to justify Sirius’ lies, the librarian turned to you, her lips pursed and eyes sharp. “Please leave the library. I won’t have you causing a commotion like this”.
She leaves before you can stand up for yourself, your cheeks flooding with heat as your blood boils with anger. Especially as your enemy begins to laugh tauntingly, head tipping back as he obnoxiously laughs, throwing the book back onto your pile.
“Thank god for that; I might be able to concentrate without a slithering snake like you here”.
You stand abruptly, wand in your shaking hand as you rage angrily, “I fucking hate you!”
He steps closer, invading your personal space as he smirks down at you, “The feeling is mutual, Sunshine. Now, do you want me to help you pack up your crap, or can you manage that all by yourself?”
Before you can answer, you’re both interrupted by a calm voice, “Sirius, leave her alone, will you?” Remus tried to convince his friend to step away. With Sirius distracted, you start roughly shoving your items into your school bag before turning back to them both, especially Sirius.
“I hope you choke”. With one last glare, you purposefully bashed your shoulder into Sirius, knocking his balance slightly as you stormed off.
However, as you passed a couple of Hufflepuffs, you overheard one whispering to another, “They probably just need to fuck, and they’d get over this stupid tension”.
“What the fuck did you just say?!” you demand, stopping in front of them, looking between them as their heads dropped to hide their faces. “That’s disgusting. How dare you even say something like that-” you begin to chastise, your wand returning to your hand as a reflex to defend yourself.
“Excuse me!” the Librarian returns to your side, which only makes you more frustrated as you’re stopped from doing what you really want.
“I’M LEAVING!” you scream, gathering the attention of everyone; you promptly scowl at them all, specifically Sirius, who you expected to see grinning at you getting into trouble, but instead, he was only a step behind you with an odd, wondering expression on his face.
You don’t stay to ponder what he was looking at as you grip your bag closer to your body and storm off. How could someone even think something so disgusting!? You and Sirius fucking?! Absolutely not. You’d rather walk around Hogwarts naked than go anywhere near Sirius fucking Black.
A few hours later, you’d found your friend lounging beside the lake, where you promptly joined her with a huff. “Oh no, what did Sirius do now?” she says, knowing your sour mood could only be caused by one person.
You explain with increasing agitation, “And then, you’ll never guess what some Hufflepuffs said! They said that me and Sirius Black,” You shiver for emphasis, “Need to shag, and we’d stop arguing! I mean, can you believe it? That’s disgusting; I can’t think of anything worse!” You’d expected your friend to look disgusted, just like how you felt, but instead, she raised one eyebrow with an unphased expression. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Well, I mean… He’s not that bad to look at, and from what I’ve heard, he’s very much a people-pleaser in the bedroom. Anyway, you know what they say,  if you’re being teased by someone it’s most likely because they have a crush on them and I must say… You’re both always teasing each other”.
Even though your friend grins and mocks you, you still find it offensive that she would even say such a thing. “Are you kissing me? Sirius Black is a self-centred, arrogant asshole who only thinks about himself. There is no way I would ever go anywhere near him!”
“Yeah, but you can’t deny that he’s handsome. Even though he’s a Gryffindor, he's from the Black lineage, with his long hair, dreamy eyes, and stunning smile. There’s also the fact that he plays quidditch, so I bet those thighs of his are scrummy”.
Shaking your head at her words, you sigh, “That doesn't matter, he’s still-”
“So you admit it?” She cuts you off with a knowing smile.
“Admit what?” you question innocently.
“That you think he’s handsome”, she states confidently with a shit-eating grin.
“I’m not saying that, I mean- Uh… I don’t know!” You throw your hands into the air, exacerbated, “I guess he’s handsome, but that doesn’t change what an asshole he is”.
Your friend shrugs, “I don’t know. Maybe this answers all the tension. The two of you need to fuck, and maybe all the arguments will stop”.
“If you ever say that again, I promise I’ll curse you. Right, I’m changing the subject. I don’t want to think about him anymore. Are you still going to the party later in the Ravenclaw's common room?”
“Definitely! I can’t wait. Are you going?”
“Yes! I need a drink after today”.
As the moon came out to play, so did all of the older students throughout Hogwarts, as it seemed everyone was going to the party. Staring at yourself in the mirror, you sighed in frustration as you couldn’t style your hair correctly, too distracted thinking about that good-for-nothing, long-haired, handsome idiot.
There was that word again. Handsome. ‘Was he handsome?’ you thought to yourself. Of course, he was, with his grey sparkling eyes, he was one of the tallest in the year, lean from all of his quidditch playing, and his hair was always clean and effortlessly styled, and his clothes were always smart and expensive looking, the only part of him that you could tell was from his pure-blood status.
You hated that you couldn’t stop thinking about him. Undoubtedly, you hated him, but would it be the worst to shag him? You shivered at the thought, internally demanding that the idea needed to leave your mind immediately, ignoring the pulsing between your legs as an image flashed into your head of his face between your legs.
You shouted in frustration, giving up with your hair and deciding that it would have to do. At least your dress was beautiful, a Slytherin-green floor-length gown with silky smooth material accentuating your body and a long slit up the right side revealing your thigh. It was lavish and probably over the top for a common room party, but it was so rare that you could dress up, so you seized the opportunity. You’d applied a generous amount of make-up and silver high heels to match the dress, adding a couple of inches to your height.
The problematic part was sneaking up to the Ravenclaw common room, but thankfully, there was a system of students on the watch to lead the way there. Once inside, you poured yourself a drink of whatever was in the cauldron and found a couple of your friends already there.
Ten glorious minutes of happiness passed before it all came crashing down around you as James Potter shouted, “The party has arrived!” Not only him but the other Gryffindors had entered, making you roll your eyes and drink a hefty glug of the alcohol in your cup, savouring the burn as it rushed down your throat.
You couldn’t see him immediately, and you hate that you searched the crowd looking for him; you pretended that it was because you wanted to be prepared if he walked over to you and no other reasons whatsoever. There he was, standing with his back to you as he poured his drink with Remus.
‘Fuck’, you cursed to yourself, quickly looking away as your cheeks warmed. Why did he have to look so good? It seemed his surname was his favourite colour today as he wore all-black, well-worn combat boots paired with baggy black jeans and a tight t-shirt that seemed to stretch over the well-toned muscles of his arms and shoulders. It wasn’t just this that had your thighs clenching together to try and relieve some building tension. Still, for once, he’d decided to tie his hair up in a loose bun, some strays of hair already loosening, but for some reason, that only made him more attractive, and did he always have an earring?
You finished the rest of your drink as you realised just how much attention you gave Sirius. You need to get him out of your head, so dancing with your friends would be the best distraction for now, but you fully anticipated that he would come over and ruin your night sometime soon.
However, Sirius stayed on the other side of the party, which even your friends commented was odd, considering he always loved making your life miserable. You continued to shrug it off, saying you were having a great time because of it; however, your eyes wandered over to him occasionally, and it seemed he always had the same idea as you would catch each other's eye and then quickly look away embarrassed.
The night continued, the music increasing in volume, and now that you weren’t worried about Sirius interrupting, you slowed down with the alcohol, not wanting a hangover in the morning.
“SOMEONE SNITCHED TO FILCH, HE’S GETTING THE PROFESSORS! EVERYONE RUN!” A second later, the entire party was shoving and pushing each other to get out of the door, running in different directions.
Some teachers were already in the corridors, catching students, giving them detentions and taking away house points. You followed a small crowd, struggling to keep up with your heels, which you now severely regretted; however, it was a small blessing when Professor McGonagall caught the group at the end of the corridor, so you quickly turned down a deserted corridor, breathing heavily and beginning to sweat from the exercise and fear.
Just as you turned down a corridor dimly lit by fires on the wall, someone from behind grabbed your arm, forcefully pulling you in another direction. Before you can comprehend what is happening, you’re engulfed in darkness, and a broad hand is shoved over your mouth as you’re pushed against the door to the store cupboard you were just pulled into.
“Shhh, someone was behind us, " Sirius whispered from the darkness; even though you couldn’t see him, you knew his face was in front of yours because you could feel the warmth of his breath on your face.
Your instinct was to try and shove him off, but then there were echoing footsteps in the corridor outside. You both freeze, not even daring to breathe in case you’re caught. Both of you listened intently until there was only silence on the other side of the door as you slammed your elbow into his stomach.
His hand drops from your mouth, allowing you to whisper, “Get the fuck off me, don’t ever touch me again”.
Now that you had a moment to calm down, as he moved back into a space, you could see a slither of him from the gap around the door that allowed the light to seep in. Sirius chuckles lowly, rubbing his stomach from where you’d elbowed him. The deep laugh seemed to affect you straight between the legs as, for some reason, you found the noise mildly erotic.
“Why? You never know; you might like it when I touch you”, Sirius taunted, his voice soft and yet husky at the same time.
Your entire body seemed to buzz with anticipation and excitement at his words because there was no way Sirius Black had just flirted with you in some capacity.
“Shut up”, you say bashfully, folding your arms over your middle.
In the crack of light seeping in, Sirius' head tilted to the side, “What, no comeback, oh my witty little snake, have you lost your tongue?”
It seemed you had no air left in your body at his words, but you forced yourself to move away from the door, turning with the intention of leaving. However, he hears something you don’t as he’s pushing you flush against the door; even with your heels, he’s towering over you.
Before you could question what he was doing, he rested his index finger across your lips and whispered into your ear, “There’s someone outside the door”.
You can’t hear that, though, as there’s only the pounding of your heart rattling in your ears with how close he is to you. He was inhumanly warm, and this close, you could smell his addicting aftershave that reminded you of citrus and oak, but lingering in the background was vanilla from his shampoo as a couple of strands of his hair fell into your face. In this position, you couldn’t see him; even as your eyes adjusted to the darkness, you had to rely on your other senses.
You swallow audibly, causing your lips to press harder against his finger until the cool metal of his ring is indented into your chin. His breath is just as warm as his chest against yours, and this close, you could smell that he’d been drinking fire whiskey.
The pressure on your lips lightens as whoever is inspecting the corridor disappears again. Sirius doesn’t remove himself, though; instead, he allows his finger to do its exploration in the darkness, skimming across your cheek, over the shell of your ear, which causes you to shiver and your nipples to harden beneath the dress however the fabric was so thin that Sirius could feel them against his chest.
His finger continues to move down your jaw until it is at the point of your chin, pushing it up so you're forced to tip your head back further against the door.
“Sirius”, you whisper in a pleading tone, and he moves, fast and brutal as his mouth connects with yours. The kiss was fiery, full of passion and need. The hand under your chin desperately moves into your hair to hold your head in place while the other grips your hip, pulling your body closer to his. Your hands were just as grabby as one reached for his shirt, feeling the hard muscle beneath, and another moved to his jaw, feeling the softness of his recently shaved face.
You both moved as one, tilting your heads to the side to deepen the kiss further, mouths opening to allow the exploration of your tongues, tasting and wanting more. You weren’t thinking clearly, and neither was he but damn with the consequences.
Sirius bit into your bottom lip gently, tugging it back until it was snapping back to normal, but he didn’t stop there as his mouth began to move down your throat as he moved your head back. Open mouth, hot kisses were pushed into your skin until your toes curled in your high-heeled shoes.
You needed more of him, all of him, feeling so pathetically desperate that sweet little whines kept spilling from your lips as he sucked just below your ear like he knew that was your special spot.
Reaching behind his head, you roughly pulled the hairband out of his hair so, at long last, you could run your fingers through his soft locks. Sirius seemed to enjoy the touch as his hips thrust into yours, and you could feel the evidence of his arousal, rock hard in his jeans. Your arousal was currently ruining your underwear, clit throbbing and pussy begging to be touched in some way.
This could be a sign to stop and reason that this was your enemy. It had been since day one at Hogwarts, and now you’re ready to rip each other's clothes off.
As Sirius’ mouth moved lower, teeth scraping over your collar bones, you decided to be brave and lift your right leg, wrapping it around his hip to hold him closer. Sirius instantly gripped your thigh, groaning to himself when he was met with bare skin as he’d forgotten this was the side with the slit in the material.
“This god-damns dress”, he praised against your skin, which made you laugh lightly at how desperate he sounded. The heat of his palm against your naked thigh only made you want to feel him closer as he kissed you again. Higher and higher, his hand creepy, gripping your thigh until he pushed the silky material further up your body until you could feel your underwear was on show. This only encouraged you to pull his hips closer with your heel until his jean-covered cock was pressing against your panty-covered cunt.
Sirius shuddered, his hands tightening on your thigh and in your hair, as his tongue devoured your mouth, capturing every little moan you released as his hips thrust forward. It was your turn to tremble as the roughness of his jeans was felt through your thin underwear, nudging your clit and causing more moisture to gather in your underwear.
Everywhere felt like it was burning: your skin, core, and head. Everywhere that Sirius touched left a scolding mark as you couldn’t take it anymore, couldn’t fathom waiting a moment longer.
Pulling your face away from his, with a harsh pull on his hair to snap his head back, you roughly demanded, “Just fuck me already, Sirius”.
He grinned in the darkness as he rutted his hips harder against yours, knowing what you truly wanted. Sirius’ mouth returned to your through as he darkly said, “Say please”.
It was an effort not to roll your eyes, but you did huff as you, in turn, pressed your pussy against his crotch. “I’m not saying-”
Any sassy remark you were thinking of saying was cut off by the giant hand now wrapped around your throat, not hard enough that you couldn’t breathe but enough to draw your attention as his mouth hovered over yours. You could feel from the shape of his lips that he was smirking as he repeated with more emphasis and slowing of the words, “Say. Please”.
Your mouth dried of any saliva at the tone of his voice, instantly falling into submission as you quietly asked, “Please fuck me, Sirius”.
“Good girl”, he praises against your lips, making your knees buckle slightly, having never been praised like this before.
A hand wrapped around your ankle as he moved it back to the floor, and suddenly, you were holding onto the door as his body dropped to his knees, and you didn’t realise until now just how much you were relying on his body to keep you upright.
Sirius’ hands were underneath your dress, grasping the edges of your underwear and sliding them down your thighs. As you stepped out of them, he moved your dress back again, your bare pussy on display to him, and even though it was too dark for him to see, you could still feel the warmth of the flush on your face.
“We haven’t got time for that, just fuck me already”, you snapped at him. Of course, you would love for your earlier thought of his face between your legs to be a reality, but right now, you needed his cock inside you before you combusted on the spot.
Thankfully, Sirius didn’t argue or get you to beg for his cock any more as he stood back up, towering over you again as the rustle of his belt being undone was like music to your ears. “Always so fucking demanding”, he scolded light-heartedly under his breath.
Reaching for his waist in the darkness, you were planning on helping him undo his jeans to free his cock, and you wanted to feel what you were dealing with. Like every other time you’d known him, Sirius had other plans.
Your hands were pushed away as he grabbed your hips instead, but only so that he could turn you around. Your face was unglamourlessly shoved against the wooden door as Sirius rushed to gather the material of your dress until it was bunched around your waist. Clinging onto what he had planned, you pushed your arse out from him and were greeted with the pleasant sensation of something hot and hard against your cheeks.
“Spit”, Sirius demanded into your ear as he pressed his fingers into your chin. It felt filthy and slightly degrading to spit into his hand, but as you could hear him wiping the slickness onto his cock, you didn’t care anymore. In fact, it only added more eroticism to your thoughts.
Neither of you said a word as he adjusted the height of his hips, pressing into your arse cheeks to spread them slightly as suddenly something knocked against your hole. Sirius helped to guide his cock as he slid it into your pussy, your walls burning from the stretch of the sheer size of him.
“Fuck! You could have warned me you’re so big!” you chastised him. Inch after inch opened you up wider until his hips were flush with yours, and his hand rested back in your hair, pulling your head back against his shoulder.
“Sorry, Sunshine”, he chuckled, kissing your cheek with a hint of sarcasm in his tone. You couldn’t help but hear that stupid nickname in his sultry deep voice, and with his entire dick pressed into your cunt, you couldn’t help but squeeze him tighter. Sirius ground his hips in harder, smiling against your face, “I fucking knew you liked it when I called you that”.
You wanted to retort back to him, hating when he had the upper hand, but as he began to withdraw his cock, any coherent thought disappeared from your mind entirely. As he pushed back in, you couldn’t help but rise to your tiptoes, following the lead of his body fucking into you.
Sirius made sure you were accustomed to his size before beginning to properly fuck you. All the tension, the bullying back and forth, the teasing and times of losing your mind at the idiot that was Sirius Black had all been worth it as he fucked you unlike anyone before. He was toweringly tall when you were face to face, but when his chest brushed over your back, you felt much smaller as he seemed to crowd around you everywhere.
He breathed heavily into your ear, occasionally biting your lobe or sloppily kissing the junction between your shoulder and neck. However, it was the pounding of his cock that had you completely and utterly at his mercy. His strokes were deep and long, his entire length disappearing into your sopping-wet hole. It felt so unbelievably good that you didn’t even care that you were near enough to scream out your moans for anyone in the corridor to hear.
Your hand reached behind your head to find him, your fingers slipping into his hair again to hold them. Harder and harder, he pushed the two of you into the door; it was a surprise that the barricade didn’t break with the force he was putting into fucking you.
Then you felt the deep coiling in your core, like everything inside of you was tightening, all pleasure amplifying as your orgasm teetered on the very edge. It seemed Sirius could feel this too, with how tightly your spongey walls were suffocating him as he grunted louder into your neck.
“Wait, don’t cum yet; I’m so close, don’t cum”, you begged, not entirely wanting it to end just yet. Sirius gasped, his mouth opening wide as his eyes did the opposite as they clenched shut as he concentrated on fucking you and not orgasming.
It doesn’t take long to feel the first flutterings of that eye-wateringly beautiful sensation between your legs as you quickly stammer, “I’m cumming! Fuck- You can cum, please cum with me”. Sirius’ legs nearly gave out underneath him, hearing your sweet words.
As your pussy contracted in wet bursts around him, Sirius released every drop of cum inside of his body, deep into your walls so that you could feel yourself becoming full and it beginning to drip out as it became too much. His thrusts slowed to a stop as you both slumped against the door, catching your breath for a moment, the tiny store cupboard now becoming suffocating.
The after-orgasm guilt hit you like a tonne. What had you done? You’d just fucked your worst enemy, and his cock was still inside you.
You couldn’t help yourself; you needed to ruin the moment, need to get free and cry into your pillow over what an idiot you are, so with hate and distaste, you turned your head further over your shoulder. “This changes nothing between us”.
Sirius took a moment to process the words before his mouth was hovering over your ear, his breath tickling your skin, “Not at all, Sunshine, I still hate you”.
Good, you think. That’s what you’d hoped because you still hated him too… right?
With a grunt, you elbow his stomach again but with less force, just needing him to back away from you. Thankfully he did without any arguments, his softening cock slipping out of you and globs of his cum following this.
With trembling knees, you shoved your dress back down. Reaching around in the darkness, you found the door handle and turned, neither of you saying another word as you walked out of the door, hair a mess, make-up running down your cheeks, dress creased, lips swollen and cum still dripping down your thighs.
You walk with as much confidence as possible, keeping your head high as you try not to turn around and see if he is watching you walk away. It was only as you turned the corner that you realised you’d left your underwear in there with him; cursing to yourself, you turned back, not wanting another student or someone to find them. You weren’t sure if you were happy or sad when you returned to the cupboard to find Sirius gone, but not only that, but your underwear was too.

haven't been as active as usual recently, so a little blurb to make up for it <3 hope you enjoy
Warnings: Slytherin reader, flirty Sirius (the biggest warning here), eating and drinking (no alcohol), celebrating Christmas, the marauders being icons, barty and evan slaying
sirius black masterlist
You walked into the great hall with a charming grin gracing your lips, wishing your acquaintances and classmates from the other houses a ‘Happy Christmas’ as you passed their tables, eventually settling with your housemates at Slytherin’s table and once again thanking your dormmates for their gifts you had received from them that same morning. One of the gifts was a festive, stripy red and green jumper, which you had decided to pull over a band t- shirt after deciding you weren’t bothered to change out of it. Responding to the compliments you received regarding it with a playful wink, you began to pile food onto your plate- meals were always better at Christmas- whilst making conversation with Lucius Malfoy concerning the upcoming prefect meeting after teasing him for the holly wreath adorning his platinum head of hair. You laughed when he scowled, beaming at Narcissa in faux- innocence when she elbowed him fondly.
You were just thinking how your Christmas was starting off great when you heard a familiar voice calling your name from the next table over.
The Gryffindor table.
You looked in the general direction of the voice with a raised eyebrow. Of course.
Sirius Black.
He winked over at you at which you responded with a scowl, when he smiled: “Finally warming up to me are you? Wearing a bit of red in who knows how many years for my house colour? That’s desperate y’know, real desperate.” He shook his head, but there was a glint of amusement in his eyes. You huffed.
Trust the eldest Black brother to make Christmas about himself too- though you couldn’t deny that you were subtly eyeing him throughout your meal, waiting for him to make a comment as he usually did- whether in class, on the grounds or in the hall.
“You self- obsessed gremlin- funny, but ever thought red is a Christmas colour? You think you’re so clever, but that was just pure stupid- like saying your eyes are silver, a Slytherin colour, making you obsessed with me,” you called back triumphantly- though it was short- lived.
Sirius playfully shoved Remus who chortled beside him at your banter, but didn’t take his eyes off of you, looking you up and down. “Been looking at my eyes, have you y/ln?”
You roll your eyes and exhale sharply at his witty retort, internally cursing the colour rising to your cheeks as he smirked at you over his shoulder wolfishly, mouthing: ‘you look hot, by the way’.
You look away from him immediately, outwardly cursing Barty and Evan who were whistling and laughing at your somewhat amusing predicament.
Sirius’ lips quirked upwards, calling out a little louder: “Alright there? You’re as red as your jumper, love.”
You groaned and buried your face into your arms which were resting on the table- simultaneously kicking your snorting friends as they poked fun at you further. Sirius turned around successfully, blushing slightly himself at your adorable reaction as he smiled genuinely into his glass of pumpkin juice, ignoring James when he coughed out something which sounded suspiciously like ‘simp.’
hope this is good <3

dating sirius black? no, thank you...
…is what your first year self would have said. he was loud, rebellious, disruptive, mischievous. and any other adjective you could think of. he flirted with everything that walked, the annoying giggles of the girl he was trying to impress often rang through the halls. not to mention the aggravating pranks he and his friends pulled, of which your house always seemed to be the victims.
your younger self disliked sirius black wholeheartedly.
so she would definitely laugh in your face if she knew what you were currently up to.
“did anyone see you?”
“no, took the path you suggested.”
you grinned at your boyfriend, his arms quickly going around you as soon as you’re in reach, pressing a kiss to your lips. “i've missed you today.” he tells you, face inches away from yours. you shook your head, “sirius, you saw me at lunch not two hours ago.”
“tell me about it.” he mutters, diving back down to capture your lips. you smile into the kiss as he pulls you closer. before the both of you completely get lost in eachother, you break the kiss. “we’re gonna be late to class.” you warn when he leans back down. “i’m okay with that.” he mumbles, nuzzling into your neck.
“but i’m not.” you groan playfully, hands coming up to his chest as you barely put effort into pushing him away. “fine.” sirius relents, but keeps his hands on your hips, lovingly looking down at you.
sneaking around with sirius was thrilling, the risk of being caught only adding to the excitement. keeping your relationship under wraps had been a mutual decision. at the time, sirius was still living with his awful parents and them finding out he was dating someone would've been dreadful. them finding out the person he was dating was a slytherin? catastrophic.
you, on the other hand, had an okay relationship with your family. they didn't care about blood status, but they did care about reputation. you were specifically told not to ‘embarrass’ the family name. so that meant perfect grades, perfect attendance, perfect behaviour. if they found out you were dating one of hogwarts’ resident rebels and pranksters, it would not go over well.
but that had been before. both you and sirius have grown since the start of your relationship. he had moved out and was now living with the potters, free to live his life however he desired without the scrutiny of his parents.
you had managed to convince your parents that you were responsible and mature enough to make your own decisions. it had not been easy, but they trusted you enough to make the right choices regarding your future.
but it only recently occurred to you, why were you still keeping it a secret?
your secret rendezvous with the gryffindor boy were fun, yes, but you couldn't help but wonder how it would be to hold his hand in public, to kiss him without having to check if there was anyone around. you hadn't told sirius of your concerns yet, afraid it would burst the bubble the two of you shared.
you also wondered if sirius ever had these thoughts. though you’d force yourself not to dwell on it too much, a lingering anxiety forming as the painful thought of him not feeling the same clouded your mind.
as sirius held you close in a secluded corridor, you tried to muster up the courage to ask him,
“sirius?”
“yes, my love.” he hummed, smiling at you as he awaited your question. you take a deep breath, “i know we decided to keep us a secret,” your hands suddenly feel clammy. “do you ever, i don't know, think that maybe it's time to-”
“wait.” he cuts you off, holding up a finger as his eyebrows furrow. then his head suddenly snaps to yours, “someone’s coming.” he looks around cautiously as he hears footsteps approaching. “we’ll continue this later.” he said, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead before taking off, leaving you dumbfounded.
-
it was only halfway through mcgonagall’s lesson when your words finally dawned on sirius.
“maybe it's time,”
time for what? surely you couldn't mean ending your relationship. sirius knew you to be a very upfront and direct person. if something made you upset or angry, you would make it known. you were always honest with him, telling him exactly what was on your mind. if he did something wrong, you would most certainly not keep quiet.
but you didn't look angry, no, you seemed…nervous?
sirius spent the rest of the lesson (and the remaining classes) pondering what you were about to tell him before he foolishly cut you off. he decided to not even entertain the idea of the two of you breaking up.
a theory had crossed his mind, one that filled him with glee and excitement. were you about to tell him that you were ready to go public? to stop hiding your love for one another. he could only hope.
-
it was just before dinner. classes had ended for today and the boys were up in their dorms, discussing their daily antics.
“oh and preparations for the party are well under way, fellas.” james informed the group, making them hum in excitement. james liked to go all out for his birthday, this year he decided to throw a party for himself, with the help of his friends of course.
“are you inviting your girlfriend, pads?”
sirius almost choked on his own saliva. clearing his throat, he tried to manage his expressions. “girlfriend?” he asks cluelessly.
“y/n?”
his eyes widen, “y/n? y/n y/l/n? the slytherin? why would, uh- why would you think that?’ he can feel his heart pounding in his chest. he had been so careful. did they catch the two of you somewhere? did he accidentally let it slip? did you accidentally let it slip?
“you know we can see the two of you together on the map, right?” remus asks, eyes narrowed at his friend. sirius’ mouth falls open in silent shock, “oh.” he whispers before letting out a long groan. “oh. the map!” he slaps a hand to his forehead, reprimanding himself for his own forgetfulness.
“well, now we know why sirius isn't a ravenclaw.”
the boys laugh at his reaction, making sirius sigh. “why didn't you say anything?” he asks. they shrugged. “we figured you’d tell us when you were ready.” james tells him, patting him on the back. “plus, you seemed happy, so why intervene?” he added.
a smile grows on sirius’ face. “i am happy.”
james, remus and peter all nod proudly at their friend. “glad to hear it, padfoot. she's a lovely girl.” remus said, making them hum in agreement.
“yeah, she once switched seats with me so i could sit next to lily.”
“she also scared off some slytherins that were messing with me one time.”
“she gives me notes from the days i miss classes because, well you know.”
a warmth spreads through sirius as he listens to the most important people in his life approve of you and your relationship. he had no idea you were doing all of that. if his love for you wasn't already massive, it just grew tenfold.
“so it's settled, she's coming to the party.” james decides, clapping his hands together. sirius slightly deflates at that, his friends taking notice. “what's wrong?”
he lets out a breath, “we decided to keep our relationship a secret because of our families.” he mumbles. “sirius, you don't live with them anymore. i thought you didn't care what they thought.”
“and i don't. i’ve been wanting to stop hiding for months now.”
“so, it's her parents then? she still wants to keep it a secret.”
“yeah, no. i don't know.”
the boys gave him a confused look, “you haven't asked her?” remus furrows his eyebrows. sirius shakes his head, “what if she doesn't want to?”
“what if she does?” remus counters, pursing his lips. sirius let out a soft sigh, “i think she was gonna ask me that earlier, but then we got interrupted and i only realized after i left.” he runs a hand through his hair, the anxiety from earlier settling back into his chest.
“sirius,” james puts a hand on his shoulder. “we can tell you really care about this girl. so i say, you just ask her. maybe she's having the exact same worries as you right now.”
“yeah, i guess you're right.”
“of course, i'm right.” james boasts, gesturing his arms out. “okay, let's go to dinner. i'm starving.”
-
after your encounter with sirius came to an abrupt end, you spent the rest of the day trying not to think about it, which proved to be quite difficult as sirius occupied your mind very often. maybe you shouldn't have said anything. it's not that your unhappy with him, in fact its the opposite. you're the happiest you could ever be.
if he wasn't ready, then you weren't either. you were fine loving him in secret, because he was still yours either way.
you shook your head as if to rid your mind of the subject. taking a deep breath, you entered the great hall. it was already packed with hungry students, more filed in behind you. your eyes searched the room for sirius, sighing when you didn't find him.
a hand found its way onto your lower back, you slightly jumped before turning around when a familiar scent hit you.
“sirius, what are you-”
he cuts you off by pressing his lips against yours, hands cupping your cheeks and you feel him smile against your lips. your shock quickly wears off as you kiss him back, forgetting that you were standing in the great hall in front of the whole school. sirius breaks the kiss first, but still holds you close, a coy smile on his face.
you feel your cheeks burn red as you hold back a grin, looking around to see all of your schoolmates gawking at you. you press your lips together as you meet sirius’ gaze. “what was that?” you whispered to him, making him shrug. “just felt like it.”
“but i thought that-”
“i know. and i should've asked you earlier. all that sneaking around was fun, but i want to take you out on dates, show you off and kiss you whenever and wherever i want.
“i want that too.”
sirius smiles brightly at you before leaning down to press another kiss to your lips. “so, you wanna sit with me and the guys today?” he asks, entwining your hand with his. you nod excitedly, “oh, i bet they have tons of embarrassing stories about you.” you poke him teasingly, making sirius pause,
“actually on second thought...”

🫀 You have bewitched me, body and soul: Give me a character and I will tell you the different types of people he would fall for. Alternative: tell me about you and I will ship you with a character from my list and tell you why
Sirius black!!
Ohh! I have a couple of ideas for this one. The whole opposites attract trope has never been among my faves (cough, cough... Thanks mom and dad for it), but in this case is different. Also, I headcanon him as a Bi icon. That means gender neutral pronouns will be used for reader so everyone can feel included, just keep that in mind. In my humble oppinion Sirius Black would fall for:
Tumblr media
I know that tumblr always portrays him falling with an extrovert who can compite with his sass... But just hear me out
Option one: "Bookworm introvert"
Okay this may be influenced by my love for the wolfstar ship... But listen to me and you will see it too, okay?
He is a prankster, a loud troublemaker, the life of the party and I am nearly sure that he was a player in his younger years. I can see him being with girls (or boys too, depends of how conservative you believe Hogwarts in the 70's to be) who have a similar personality to his for hook ups and casual dating, but will never commit with any of them
He needs someone different who catches his eye and that's when bookworm!reader enters in the game
Maybe they are friends with Remus and Sirius meets them one day when they are talking to his friend. Or in a different scenario they would be best friends with Lily and as she and James have started dating Sirius take advantage of it and starts speending more time with them
Imagine him trying to get to know all their favourite authors so he can have a topic to talk about. Just so sweet...
I see reader to be from either of the four houses, but deffo a mudblood so he can piss of his parents yet again
Option 2: "Sarcastic overarchiever"
Okay, most of his pranks at Hogwarts are driven by his hate towards Slytherins. Malfoy? He sees him as a presumptuous bastard. Snivellus? A pushover dickhead. His own brother Regulus? Well, he tolerates him more or less until he joins the dark side
What I mean is that he really hates Slythrins. Imagine how much the marauders will mock him if he ended falling in love with a Slytherin
They being the best student, who always yearned for the gold start and being paired in a proyect with the lazy and carefree Sirius Black
Let's be serious (pun intended) they will hate each other at first. So enemies to lovers then?
He soon will find himself being worried with they overworked themselves and realize that they may care too much although he claims to hate their guts
For this one I don't think that blood status really matters as long as reader is against Pureblood supremacism

The hallways of Hogwarts are dimly lit, with tiny floating lamps in each corner. The soft currents of the cool wind make the flames dance and they scatter flickering patterns of light on the floor. It's late in the evening and you'd think it would be quiet. But it isn't.
The Slytherin prefect has managed to pin the wandering marauder under her wand and appears extremely displeased about it.
“That's absolutely not happening. Just go back to your dorm and don't be my problem,” (Y/N) whispers aggressively to the raven-haired Gryffindor as she steps closer to look intimidating.
He steps back wisely, pushing his back against the wall, and raises his hands in defense.
“Look, it's not that I don't appreciate your warm conduct,” Sirius exhales, feigning a smile as he urges her, “but I really, only need ten minutes. Please.”
(Y/N)'s face contorts in frustration and she suppresses an annoying cry. He has been testing her patience for the last twenty minutes. She should've reported him to a teacher right away.
“This is not a bargain, you mo—”
She stops speaking abruptly at the sound of steps coming from nearby. Her eyes dart at the corner of the corridor then back again at the boy pinned under her wand.
“Great. Malfoy. Just what I needed,” she mutters.
Sirius's eyes grow wide sensing the trouble, but to his surprise (Y/N) grabs his wrist and drags him along with her to the other end of the hallway.
“What are you—” He whispers confusedly as he watches her open the broom closet just around the corner.
“Shut up and get in!” She whispers back, pushing him inside.
Sirius frowns briefly before quickly holding the partially closed door in its place and gives her a taunting smile as the realization hits him.
“Are you hiding me?” He laughs, “From Malfoy?”
“Just do me a favor and shut up, okay?” She hisses, before closing the door just in time to see Lucius stalking toward her.
“What was that noise?” He asks, an eyebrow raised sternly at her.
“It was Peeves,” she answers, without missing a beat.
“Peeves?” Lucius frowns, before looking past her as if to confirm, “I just saw him on the second floor. Are you sure?”
“Hm, I'm sure,” She replies again, keeping her answers to a minimum.
Lucius studies her for a second and then his eyes move to the closet next to her. The door isn't closed all the way.
“What do you need that for?” He points at the door.
“Oh, that,” (Y/N) chuckles, then walks towards it and kicks it shut, “That— I was actually just putting all those supplies back inside. Peeves has been throwing them all over the place.”
If Peeves finds out about this lie, which (Y/N) is sure he will, he'll make her life difficult. But she can worry about that later, as this seemed good enough to convince Lucius because he steps back and looks away from the closet.
“Alright, well, keep a close eye everywhere. I heard some students are trying to sneak out. If you see anyone, you report to me,” he orders, pointing his index finger at himself.
Normally, (Y/N) would respond to his arrogance with a passive-aggressive comment, but since this doesn't seem like a good time, she lets it go.
“And I am going to have a little chat with our professors about the Poltergeist,” she hears Lucius mutter as he walks away.
She watches him turn around the corner and disappear and waits a good two minutes to make sure that he's really gone before opening the broom closet.
“Peeves is not going to be pleased with that,” Sirius states with a smirk, stepping out of the closet.
“Don't worry, I'll handle that,” (Y/N) returns a false smile, “Now get back to your dorm before I change my mind.”
She watches him as he sizes her up with a coy smile, then turns around and disappears towards the staircase.
— — — — — — —
The universe seems to be testing (Y/N), because as she goes to her assigned hallway to patrol, she finds Sirius Black in the same spot as she had met him the day before. Only this time, he was standing quietly by the broom closet.
“Quite a bit of routine of yours, is it?” she asks with the faintest hint of a smile as she approaches him.
He pushes off the wooden door and shrugs with a guilty smile. A gust of wind blows his hair in his face, and he takes a ring-clad hand from his pockets to brush the hair out of his sight. (Y/N) stares at his fingers and it is only now that she realizes how his rings make his hands look more mature than his boyish face.
“Why didn't you report me to Malfoy yesterday?”
“Is this why you sneaked all the way to ask me?” She raises an eyebrow.
“Sneaking isn't a problem,” he smirks with a shrug.
“I'm aware,” (Y/N) nods, her smile growing.
“Well?”
She exhales an exasperated sigh.
“Well, I know that  Malfoy holds a grudge against you,” she mentions and smoothly turns around to move to the other end of the hallway, “He would've landed you in a month's worth of detention with a lot of false details against you. And he would only do it for his amusement.”
“Yes, but,”—he slides his hands deep back inside his pockets and follows her— “why?”
“Why? Because I'm not a bully. That's why!” She scoffs before doing a mock courtesy bow, “Oh, I apologize if I don't fit in your Slytherin stereotypes.”
“That's not what I meant!” Sirius stresses, “Look, I don't believe my Head of the House would have spared me. And I honestly didn't think you'd let me slip out of your hands after you nailed me to the wall, ” he shoots her a wide grin, “So, just wanted to express my gratitude.”
(Y/N) tries but fails to inaudibly laugh at the innuendo and Sirius appears quite pleased with himself.
“Okay, if I accept your gratitude will you go back to your dorm and try not to get me in trouble?” She asks, her jaw tightening to avoid another grin creeping onto her face. One of her hands rests authoritatively on her hip.
“No promises,” Sirius smiles.
(Y/N) throws her head back in surrender, then starts walking knowing that the boy will now follow her for the rest of the evening.
— — — — — — —
Little did she know that it would not be the last night she would see Sirius. He came back the next day, and then the day after that, and another one after that until it became his routine for weeks. Every day he found a new excuse to stay and talk to (Y/N) until her shift ended. Sometimes it was about keeping her company, because how boring it must be keeping an eye on those empty hallways all alone. Sometimes it'd be about being there as a backup in case Peeves decided to get back at her. Or sometimes it was just about, well, getting on her nerves.
(Y/N), was very reluctant about his presence for the first few days. But eventually, she gave in. Mostly it was just back and forth bickering between them, but sometimes she would also vent to him if she'd had a difficult day. In return, he'd tell her about their latest prank that his friends and he cooked up (with a promise of confidentiality) or about James Potter's latest unsuccessful attempt to woo Lily Evans. Of course, that didn't mean that Sirius was completely off the hook. She still threatened to report him and complained about his constant talking, but she didn't have the heart to actually report him to Malfoy, so he ended up in the broom closet most days.
A voice hollers from the end of the hallway calling her name, and (Y/N) takes no time to recognize it. She's been worried she has started to hear it everywhere recently. His presence always makes her panic.
“I'm here! I'm here! I know, I'm late,” The cold, empty air is now filled with his voice, and (Y/N) winces at the sound.  “Sorry if I kept you waiting! James needed my help.”
A smile battling its way onto her lips. She doesn't dare to let him catch a glimpse of it.
“Keep your voice down, you nutter!” (Y/N) scowls at him over her shoulder  before continuing forward  to mutter, “And honestly, no one's asked you to be here.”
"Is that why you look so pleased?” Sirius quips up as he finally appears by her side.
A wide, blushing grin is now plastered on (Y/N)'s face and she wants to whack Sirius for it. But she suppresses the urge and looks at him instead.
His hair looks messier than usual as if he had rummaged through it several times with his fingers. His cheeks are flushed pink from the cool evening air. He's still wearing his uniform, and a loose tie hangs around his neck. The lack of an upper robe makes him look leaner than usual. He is walking so close to her that she feels the warmth radiating from him. Sirius Black has never looked more huggable. But (Y/N) keeps that thought to herself and averts her gaze away from him and instead says,
“Don't push your luck with me, Black.”
He follows after her as they continue down the long, familiar hallway with unfading grins on their faces and likely waiting for each other to break the pleasant silence that has fallen between the two.
Less to her surprise, Sirius breaks it.
“Did you have a good day?” he asks, then smoothly turns around, walking backward as he faces her.
“Yes,” (Y/N) answers, trying not to look amused by the small talk.
“Did you enjoy your dinner?”
Her eyes narrow at him, this time with a chuckle, as she tilts her head to the side.
“Why do you care? Don't you have some diabolical prank to plan with your friends?” Her hands lock behind herself.
“Diabolical?” Sirius pipes up, “Mind you, our pranks are extremely entertaining and much appreciated.”
“I doubt that, but whatever it takes to get you out of my hair, I guess,” (Y/N) shrugs as an amused smile finally takes over her lips.
“So you don't mind if I just go and set up a cozy little trap for someone?” He scrutinizes her suspiciously.
“Since when do you need my permission to get into trouble?”
“Well, you saved me from getting into trouble. So I owe you one,” he shrugs, returning a smile as he continues walking backward, “Besides, I wouldn't want to get you in trouble now that we're friends.”
(Y/N) glances at the infuriating curve of his lips and shakes her head as if those thoughts gathering inside her mind would fall out by that action.
“We are not friends,” she glares forward disapprovingly but stiffly trots towards him to turn him at an angle as they approach a turn.
If the floors were to burst open and engulf her inside it she would be grateful for it. The insides of her cheeks are possibly sore from biting so hard on them while trying not to smile. But despite that, she would hate for this night to end. If she could, she'd spend all her nights like this; sore-cheeked, blushing, stumbling around the cold hallways ‘til late, just so Sirius would look at her the way he is looking at her right now.
“Would it be such a bad thing to admit that you like me?” He challenges as he stops walking, the corners of his mouth turned up.
(Y/N) stops too. Her eyes glare at him with a stiff jaw before looking away as she tries not to let his blooming grin affect her cheeks.
Would it really be such a bad thing to admit her crush on Sirius Black?
“Well?” Sirius asks before he steps closer to her and ducks down slightly to be in her eyesight, “It can't be that bad, can it?”
A gust of wind sweeps through the quiet hallway and (Y/N) feels goosebumps rising on her skin. She hears her heart beating inside her ears after her fingers curl slowly around Sirius's loose tie.
“I guess not,” she murmurs looking up at him.
Sirius's gaze travels back and forth between her palm wrapped in his tie and her eyes, and with one soft tug on the little piece of fabric, she feels his lips on hers.
(Y/N) swears she felt the world stop spinning. His lips taste of what she assumes is the strawberry gum that he always offers her but she always refuses. His slow and teasing fingers crawl up her spine making her stomach clench. Her hands claw at the nape of his neck, and her fingers wrap themselves in his curls. No one has ever kissed her like this before. As if their life depended on it. Is this how every person who had ever kissed Sirius Black felt?
Sirius doesn't let her finish that thought, as he pulls her closer to him and engulfs her with the warmth of his arms while his teeth dig deep into her lips. With a breathless gasp, she has to pull away to catch her breath. Her hands still stay tangled in his hair, unable to break away from his touch as she feels the cold air caress her lips.
His grip on her loosens, but his hands remain firmly on her waist, holding her in one place. She can almost feel a smug comment forming in his head when his grin reduces to a sly smirk.
“Say a word and I'll hex you,” (Y/N) says quickly, returning his grin.
Sirius raises his eyebrows and makes an open and close motion with his lips as if to carefully shape his words.
“Can I come back tomorrow?”
(Y/N) only rolls her eyes before pulling him back into another kiss.

Stupid Snake-
𝘚𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘴 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘹 𝘍𝘦𝘮!𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳
Synopsis: (I don’t really know what that means right now, but I hope it’s a summary) When Sirius has to drag home the girl he’s [hated] for years, because she’s drunk and he has to confront his feelings for her.
𝘞𝘈𝘙𝘕𝘐𝘕𝘎𝘚: 𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 (𝘖𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘺 𝘢 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳), 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘰𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦𝘴, 𝘚𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘵 (𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴??)
[Ok, so this is really short sorta [shitty] writing. But I’m lonely and drunk and gonna write it because I can. ]
Tumblr media
Y/n L/n was nothing more than a stupid snake in Sirius Black’s opinion. She was an entitled, lying… snake. It didn’t matter that she’d befriended his entire group, she wasn’t trust worthy enough for him.
Though you didn’t truly feel the same about the boy donning the Black family name, you knew he disliked you because of your house but it really didn’t matter much to you. You thought (in your earlier years of school at least.) that, he may have something to offer you.
But after years of dealing with his constant act of “I’m better than you.” Just because he was a Gryffindor, you were done. You’d just entered your seventh year of school and you’d given up the false hope of befriending the haughty prick.
You were never one to trulylee let loose, you’d gone all through your life incredibly uptight. But tonight was not one of those nights. You’d be damned if it was.
You felt your body sway to the sound of ABBA flooding through the charmed speakers, your arms above your head. You noticed a tray of shots close to your face taking several and downing them quickly, you’d over-drank your personal record not so much as chasing any of the burning liquids.
Out of the corner of your eye you noticed a group of boys sat on the couch, a lengthy scarred, Remus, a short stout, Peter, and Sirius Damn Black.
‘Ugh, that prick’
But you couldn’t help but saunter (stunble) over, a smile gracing your lips as you plopped down beside the lycanthrope, “Remmyyy!” You slurred, “My love, I’ve missed you. Where’s Jamie?” You saw him open his mouth briefly registering sound coming from it before your vision fluttered to a close; your head resting against a dark haired boy’s shoulder.
Sirius glanced down, thoroughly surprised as you leaned down against him, your h/c hair spreading across his shoulder as a waterfall might splay across a rock at the bottom of a river. But he truly didn’t mind, Remus laughed shooting the Black boy an amused look, “She doesn’t drink much.” He explained shortly, but Sirius couldn’t just leave you there.
He might’ve been an ass, but he wasn’t barbaric. So, he pushed his hands under your head, the other arm bracing below your knees while he lifted you up.
‘Merlin, you were going to be the death of him.’ He thought, but nonetheless he carried your limp form up the stairs to his open dorm.
Inside, four beds were layed out in almost perfect uniform. The only thing that was seemingly different was the cleanliness of each bed and the *aesthetic* that it represented. Walking over to the third bed he lay your sleeping figure down.
You looked so peaceful when you were asleep, and he couldn’t help but feel a certain adoration towards you in that moment. Pressing a quick kiss to your forward he smiled gently, “Goodnight Y/n L/n. You stupid snake.”

I'm starting to realize that the problem with continuing to work on a mostly completed fic almost a year after starting to rewrite it isn't finding the motivation to keep writing. It's remembering what the fuck I was planning on doing in the first place. Because I just read the chapter summaries I wrote last February and they are really fucking misleading based on what I've been staring at for the last hour.

Part two of feisty slytherin reader where it’s just the boys being like kinda in love with reader and everything you can pick how reader responds
this ended up taking me way longer to complete than I thought it would! it also ended up way longer than usual. here's the lead up to our infamous poly!marauders x feisty!slytherin reader!!! 🫶
poly!marauders x feisty, fem slytherin!reader CW: head injury - not graphic or detailed but mentions blood.
“Okay Moony, if you’re going to help us win over Y/N, you should know she does not like dramatic public displays of appreciation.” James said sagely as he walked into their shared dorm room.
Remus spared Sirius a confused look from his seat in the chair, but from the way James was currently rubbing his arm Sirius had a pretty good idea of what just took place.
“Yeah, erm, I don’t think you have to worry about that with me, bubs. Thanks for the heads up though.” Remus added bemusedly.
“Let me guess.” Sirius taunted, rolling over onto his stomach so that he faced James. “The charmed roses following her around the halls wasn’t a hit?”
“No, but she did...” He sulked, pulling his uniform shirt off to expose a small albeit quite red welt on his upper arm.
“Awe, poor Jamie. Come here bubs.” Remus cooed at him, opening his arms to invite the boy into his lap.
James obliged all too willingly and snuggled up to the werewolf like he was a small toddler and not a giant beefy man-baby.
“Don’t mollify him when he’s out here botching our grand plans to woo the girl of our dreams.” Sirius said, causing Remus to roll his eyes and James to scoff indignantly.
“Well at least I’m working on it! What are you doing to woo her?” James retaliated.
Sirius offered him a wolfish grin. “Oh, I’ve got a little trick up my sleeve.”
Tumblr media
You had to get out of the castle. You could still feel everyone’s eyes on you, ogling you like you were some kind of freakshow.
You don’t know what kind of game those Gryffindor’s were trying to play, but you were not about to be the butt of whatever sodding joke this was.
Roses, really? Charmed to follow you around the castle as Potter smirked from the sidelines. Did he have any idea how humiliating that was?
So, yeah. You walloped him. In the arm. With your fist. Hard. But what else were you supposed to do!? You’d confronted him and demanded that he end the charm and all he said was ‘you look so cute when your nose scrunches up like that’.
He and Black have always been a bother – seemingly having taken some kind of interest in you for whatever reason. Lupin had always been more reasonable; one would think that he’d have evened those two out during their relationship, but apparently that was an impossible task. You supposed it was because he was all but one man.
But lately, even he was starting to stare at you a little too long, smile a little too softly, find too many excuses to be in your vicinity. It was infuriating.
So, you were outside.
It was nice outside.
Well, it was nice enough outside.
You packed yourself some snacks in your book bag, two blankets and an extra jumper to go sit by the Black Lake. You figured you should be able to enjoy some peace and quiet out here on your own.
You unfolded one of the blankets to lay onto the ground before sitting on it and then laid the second blanket over your lap. You could hear other students on the grounds in the distance and the soothing sound of the water lapping gently against the shore.
As luck would have it, a certain dog with long-black hair would set out to disrupt that.
“What are you doing here?” You asked the dog as it approached you calmly. You wondered for a moment if you should be scared before it stopped at the edge of your blanket to sit and tilt its head at you, his tongue falling out of his mouth haphazardly.
He didn’t look too scary, ignoring his size.
You craned your neck to look around, checking if perhaps he was here with someone, but it appeared that you were, in fact, alone on this side of the lake.
You felt something cold and wet nudge your pinkie, and you turned to see that the dog had laid down beside you with his head between his paws, nose next to your hand.
“If I pet you, are you going to bite me?” You asked him. He answered by nudging your hand again and offering it a little lick.
“You better not have fleas.” You muttered as you scratched behind the dog’s ears. You would have sworn he had furrowed his eyebrows at your comment if dogs could do such a thing. You noticed then that the dog had startling silver-blue eyes.
“Where are your people?” You asked, glad no one was around to see you conversing with a dog. He answered you by rolling over for belly rubs.
You scoffed out a laugh but acquiesced. “Fine, you can stay. But I came out here for peace and quiet, ‘kay?”
The dog seemed fine with that plan and let you read through two chapters of your book, only interrupting every paragraph or so for more pets. Eventually however, it grew too cold, and you decided to pack up.
Confirming your suspicions, the dog began to follow you towards the castle. You pretended like you hadn’t noticed or perhaps just didn’t care until you were near the greenhouses.
“For future reference, Black,” you said, turning to the dog who seemed to pause mid-step as you considered him. “I really am more of a cat person.” You smirked, turning to walk back to the castle alone.

“Here, let me get that for you.” James said, opening the door for you rather chivalrously in Sirius’ opinion.
“I’m not a delicate flower, Potter, I can open a door.” You muttered angrily, storming past him into the classroom.
James deflated a little as he followed you in, but perked up when Remus placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“I thought that was very sweet of you, Jamie.” He placated.
James gave him a half smile in response. “Thanks Moons.”
“I mean, what are we supposed to do? What bird doesn’t like dogs!?” Sirius grumbled, opting to ignore James’ whining.
“Don’t call her a bird, Sirius.” Remus chided.
“Probably didn’t help you’re a big ol’ mangy mutt.” James muttered petulantly.
“Oi!” Sirius called. “That’s not what you say when Padfoot snuggles you to sleep.”
James had the good graces to turn a little red at that.
Their conversation was interrupted (quite rudely if you asked Sirius) by Professor McGonagall as she began the instructions for today’s Transfiguration lesson: turning buttons into butterflies.
Sirius stole a concerned glance towards James to see Remus doing the same; they were horrified to see a mischievous look adorning their boyfriend’s face.
“Prongs...” Sirius warned, whilst Remus whispered a “remember what we talked about.”
But they both knew it was too late; there was no stopping him once James set his mind to something.
Sirius is quite sure it was the fourth butterfly that did you in; you seemed to consider the first a fluke, the second was annoying, the third made you suspicious, but by the fourth you’d had enough.
With little to no warning you turned and lobbed a large hard-covered tome at the group.
“I don’t know which of you tossers are behind this, but it reeks of Potter. So help me gods I will gut you and string you up to the rafters from your intestines if you don’t leave me alone!” You screeched.
“But how else will you know I’m crazy about you?” James pouted, causing you to groan exasperatedly.
“If you’re looking for some cutesy princess who will swoon at your sodding roses and butterflies, then you’ve got the wrong witch.” You spat.
Sirius smirked. “Oh, we have exactly the right witch.”
“I swear to Circe if you don’t leave me alone, I’ll sic Barty on you.” You threatened.
Sirius and James both scoffed whilst Remus smirked.
“Please dollface, you insult me. I’m not afraid of Junior.” Sirius taunted.
You narrowed your eyes at him menacingly before realization dawned on you. “Fine.” You said simply, giving Sirius a distinct uneasy feeling. “Perhaps I’ll tell Regulus.”
Sirius slammed his fist on the table and leaned forward. “You wouldn’t.” He seethed.
You smirked deviously. “Just try me, Black.” You sneered in response.
Did...did Sirius have a degradation kink?
Sirius was ashamed to admit that he had to take a very cold shower after that.

You had been sitting in the library trying to work on your Potions essay. You had felt fairly safe here seeing as the Gryffindor’s (at least the most problematic ones) had been sanctioned from using the library during quiet study hours on account of their typical foolishness.
Except one.
“Mind if I sit here?” Lupin’s lilting voice sounded from your right side before he sat down without waiting for your response.
“Why bother asking if you were just going to sit anyways?” You grumbled.
“Well, it was the polite thing to do.” He said, turning to face you. You held his gaze (his gaze, your glare) until he finally sighed. “I’ll leave if you want me to.”
You considered him for a moment. You couldn’t deny he was the least buffoonish out of the so-called Marauders though you’re not sure that amounted to much.
But he was quieter, kinder, softer around the edges. And he had been far more polite to you than his boyfriends.
“Are you going to flirt with me?”
One of Remus’ eyebrows (the one with the scar running through it, you noticed) raised expectantly as he considered you.
“Let me rephrase that.” You barked quickly, realizing your mistake perhaps a touch too late. “You may sit here, but if you flirt with me, I will stab you with my quill.” You punctuated your threat by blotting his hand which rested on the table with ink from the tip of your quill.
Remus smiled at the sight before returning his amber coloured gaze to yours. “Fair enough. I promise to try to restrain myself, but perhaps you ought to hold onto this hand for me just in case I slip up.” And he – the absolute sodding bastard – slid his left hand comfortably into your right.
You’d never seen someone make a move so assertively and smoothly before. There was nothing to say that any of this even affected Remus as he immediately turned his attention to his book. Was it hot in here? Your hand felt sweaty. Your throat felt tight. Your mouth was dry. Why didn’t you think to bring a bottle of water?!
“Erm,” you started, having to pause to clear your throat. “Just how am I supposed to get my work done with your hand in mine, Lupin?”
You had tried to sound threatening, but based off Remus’ smirk, you’d only managed to goad him further.
“You’re left-handed. Figure it out.”
These boys were going to be the death of you if you didn’t end up killing them first.

“You held her hand!?” James screeched in their dorm room that night whilst Remus smirked to himself. Sirius would make fun of James for his dramatics if he wasn’t just a pissed off about this.
“I’ve been working at this the longest out of either of you, and she lets you hold her hand?” He continued.
“She doesn’t like dogs,” Sirius grumbled, gesturing to himself, “she doesn’t like James. But the werewolf? Really. No offence Moons because I absolutely get the appeal.”
James snapped his fingers as he had a eureka moment. “I’ve got it! Remus; bite me!”
“James!” Remus scolded.
“It’s not fair.” James muttered as he fell onto his bed in defeat. “I’d be so good to her.”
Any ire from Sirius and Remus drained at that as they both moved to join their boyfriend on his bed.
“We know, bubs.” Remus conceded.
“We just...have to give her time. I’m sure she’ll come around, yeah? I mean, with Remus’ smooth moves, my undeniable charm, and your muscles? We’re unstoppable.” Sirius added, eliciting a smile from Remus and a gentle chuckle from James, though his usual light was diminished.
“We’ve just got to be patient, Jamie.” Remus concluded, causing James to groan.
“Patience.” He spat spitefully.
“A 'James ADHD Potter' special.” Sirius winked before kissing any further protests away from James’ lips.
“We’ve got Moony on our team now, bubs. We’re unstoppable.” He whispered, truly believing what he was saying.
If anyone could break through your hard candy-coating shell to reach the chocolate inside, it was certainly Remus Lupin.

You’d had the lovely idea of sitting outside on one of the few sunny days that Scotland got to see this time of year. Unfortunately, it seemed that everyone else had the same idea too.
A few Hufflepuffs were playing with a charmed muggle football, kicking it back and forth between the two of them and chasing after it when it opted to fuck off on its own. You didn’t understand the objective of the game, nor did you care to.
Remus and Peter Pettigrew sat on a bench not too far off playing a game of Wizarding Chess that, from where you were sitting, looked like Remus was winning.
You got so caught up in watching Lupin’s game with Pettigrew - in the way that the tendons in his wrist and hands flexed as he moved pieces across the board, and the way that his honey blonde curls fell in front of his eyes causing him to have to blow air upwards so he could see the board - that you noticed something flying at you far too late.
“Look out!” One of the dumb Hufflepuff’s shouted far too late as their charmed football soared into the side of your head, knocking you clean over where your head cracked painfully against a root of the tree you were sitting under.
You scrunched your eyes tight and tried to will your heart to start beating again and your lungs to cooperate, every part of your body seeming to have tensed out of instinct to protect itself.
“L/N! L/N! Come on, dove, open your eyes.” You heard a voice above you.
Why was the voice so worried? How long were your eyes closed? A gentle hand grabbed your chin and wiggled your head back and forth, causing you to hiss in pain.
“Sod...off.” You gritted through your teeth.
The voice chuckled and wiggled your chin once more. “There she is. Open your eyes for me.”
You hated being told what to do but decided to comply anyways.
You probably should have kept your eyes close because the sight made you feel dizzy for a completely different reason.
Hovering above your frame was Remus Lupin; his knees on the ground beside your elbow, one hand gripping your chin and the other gently moving hair away from your face and head.
“Atta girl.” He said with a smile.
“Get away from me.” You grumbled as you moved to sit up. Though Lupin hissed in protest, he helped you sit up nonetheless.
“Is...is she okay?” a timid voice spoke from somewhere behind Lupin’s shoulder causing his expression to darken considerably.
“You stupid wankers are so dead.” You spat as loudly as you could manage, though in your current state – that wasn’t very loud at all.
Your message was received loud and clear, however, as the two Hufflepuffs took off in fear.
“My sentiments exactly.” Lupin muttered as he turned back to you, jaw still tense.
You snorted indelicately as you brought a hand to your head. “Please, don’t tell me you actually care about me, Lupin.”
You hissed in pain as your hand came in contact with something warm and wet and slightly sticky. You pulled your hand back in front of you to inspect, only for Lupin to grab your hand rather harshly and wipe the blood away with a handkerchief.
“Is it so impossible to believe that we could actually care for you?” He muttered quietly, eyes focused on your hand, pointedly avoiding eye contact with you. You watched as his curls bounced with each wipe of his hand against yours. You thought of his gentle hands brushing hair away from your wound moments before. You thought of him begging you to open your eyes. You thought of him being the first one at your side when you were hurt.
And you thought about Black finding ways to be with you even when you staunchly refused his company. You thought of him taking time out of his day to tell you how ‘smoking hot’ you looked that day, even though he said it every day before that, too.
And you thought about Potter who always held the door for you, saved you a seat even though you never accepted it, showered you in affection even though it was public and quite embarrassing. And you thought of the way he always had a smile to give you, even when you gave him no reason to smile at all.
It wasn’t hard to imagine the three of them caring for anyone, quite frankly. Caring seemed to come second nature to those boys.
“No.” You admitted quietly. “It’s not impossible to believe that you could actually care. It’s just impossible to imagine why.”
He stopped rubbing at your hand and met your eye, seemingly contemplating what to say.
“Let’s get you to Madam Pomfrey.” He opted for. “Pete, let the boys know where I’ve gone when they’re finished with practice?” Lupin called over his shoulder.
“I can walk myself, Lupin.” You grumbled as he helped you up by your elbow.
“Yeah, yeah.” He grumbled back. “You’re not a delicate flower, we know.”
The two of you more or less muttered back and forth to each other the entire way to the infirmary, Lupin supporting more of your weight than he likely needed too but you didn’t feel the need (nor desire) to complain.
Madam Pomfrey was in the middle of looking after a first year Potions class who accidently set off an explosion of incorrectly brewed Cure for Boils which ultimately left each student (and Professor Slughorn) covered head to toe in painful boils.
“Mr. Lupin, if you could clean the wound for me. And Miss. L/N, drink the pain potion. Do not leave until I’ve had a chance to do a proper examination, okay?” She ordered as you positioned yourself more comfortably on the bed after she determined you weren’t about to die (or currently crying, as most of the first years were).
You took the pain potion dutifully and placed it back on the table beside your bed before you startled at the sudden cold wet cloth on your head.
“You are not seriously doing this right now, are you?” You spat.
Remus’ eyebrows drew together as his hands continued on in their task. “You heard the matron; I’m supposed to clean it.”
“I can clean it myself, Lupin; I’ll conjure a mirror.” You argued, causing the scarred boy to scoff.
“I do what I’m told L/N, and quite frankly, the matron scares me more than you do.”
“I must be doing something wrong then.” You sighed, thinking you hadn’t said that loud enough to be heard, but a startled laugh escaped Lupin’s lips.
“Why do you act so volatile?” He asked amusedly.
“It’s not an act.”
“I call bullshit.”
“Well, you call wrong, then, Lupin. I’m an arse and I find everyone exhausting. Deal with it.” You snarked sharply.
Lupin breathed a laugh through his nose. “Maybe we can find out what the hell your problem is over dinner sometime, then.”
Rotten bastard and his smooth talk...
“WHERE IS SHE!?” a voice echoed through the corridor just outside the entrance to the infirmary. Madame Pomfrey needn’t even look up from the boil she was currently draining of puss to know who she was about to scold.
“Mr. Potter, I will have you banned from this infirmary so fast if you raise your voice above so much as a whisper, do not try me. That goes for you too, Mr. Black.” She barked; eyes still focused on the first year’s arm in front of her.
Sure enough, a mop of curly hair, impossibly more wild than usual due to the flight on his broom, poked around the privacy curtains a second before it was joined by a fuming looking Sirius Black.
Potter’s eyes flew to where Remus’ hands were positioned on your head and your stomach lurched at what looked like tears pooling in Potter’s eyes.
“Potter...please, erm, please don’t cry?” You asked awkwardly, leaning away from Remus’ touch as you suddenly became very uncomfortable with this amount of attention.
“She’s alright, Jamie.” Remus sighed, pulling you back over to him gently by the shoulder and continuing his prodding at your wound.
“Who did it?” Sirius spat, arms crossed defensively across his chest and jaw tight as he stared hard at the wound on your head. You were horrified to admit to yourself that he was hot. You’d never really seen it before, how all the girls in your year (and other years) fawned over the long-haired boy.
But he was currently standing in front of you still adorned in his quidditch gear, hair pulled back into a low bun - though he had many fly-aways on account of his recent time in the air - his cheeks still dusted pink from the assertion, and he was currently fuming on your behalf.
Yeah...he was hot.
“Easy.” Remus warned.
“Answer me!” Sirius spat back.
“Pads. I mean it, leave it.” Remus said with finality.
Your eyes darted nervously between the two boys currently staring each other down, but Potter’s eyes were still steadfast on you.
“Let me, Rem.” He finally said gently – the most gently you’d ever heard from the rambunctious boy as he gently moved Remus aside and took over.
“I’m okay, you know.” You offered, not liking how worked up these boys were currently over you.
“I know.” He agreed. “I just hate to see you hurt.”
“Why?”
“Why?”
“Yeah, why.” You pressed. James looked like you just asked him to calculate the distance between the galaxy of Andromeda and our solar system using the measurement of broomsticks.
“I... I don’t want to see you hurt?”
“You want to see Snape hurt.” You countered, causing James’ face to harden.
“Snape’s a tosser.” He muttered darkly.
“I’m not any nicer than Snape.”
“See, Y/N. You’re so smart and lovely and perfect, but you are way off on that front.” James said through a laugh. “Snape is prejudiced, vindictive, and a racist blood supremist. You’re just combative.” He explained, punctuating the word combative with a gentle boop of your nose.
You wanted to break his finger.
But that would be combative, and you would rather die than prove Potter right, so you opted to roll your eyes instead.
“Did they even hang around to see if she fucking survived or did they just take off to avoid detention?” Sirius spat at Remus, not looking any calmer than he did when he arrived.
“They stayed.” You answered tiredly. “They took off afterwards, and not to avoid detention, but to avoid me.”
“And me.” Remus muttered quietly, looking dangerously close to going back out there to find them himself.
“Did you threaten them?” Sirius asked severely, though you weren’t sure who exactly he had asked.
“Yes.” You and Lupin both answered exasperatedly.
Sirius looked between the two of you before letting out a sigh. “Fine, but if I run into them, I’m hexing them into oblivion.”
“Not if I get to them first.” You growled.
Sirius’ face finally softened as he sat on the end of your bed and cautiously touched your ankle under the blankets.
“You sure you’re okay, Y/N?”
And you aren’t sure what did it.
You weren’t sure if it was the softness you saw in Sirius that you were sure you could have never even imagined possible from a person, let alone someone related to the infamous Black family. Or if it was the eyebrows of Remus Lupin that were furrowed in concern as he dutifully watched his boyfriend finish plastering a bandage to your head, or if it was the unbelievable softness of James Potter’s touch – in complete contrast to his fast, rough, bouncing personality that you were usually subjected to.
But dammit, you felt a tear slip down your cheek.
You wiped it away quickly and nodded your head in yes.
You braced yourself for the teasing, the cooing, the dramatic displays of affection. But Sirius quickly stood and disappeared behind the curtains, James began pouring you a glass of water, and Remus reached into his bag for something.
Remus returned to you first, breaking off a square of chocolate for you. “It’ll help.”
You were too embarrassed to argue and took it, popping it into your mouth dutifully.
“Here.” Sirius said as he appeared back at your bedside, handing you a vial.
“What is it?” You asked, your voice taut with emotion.
Sirius’ eyes softened again as he offered you a sad smile. “Calming draught. You can’t have any more pain potion, but this might make you feel better.”
“And if not, maybe you can convince Moony to share more of his chocolate.” James commented with a soft smile.
You grimaced at the taste of the potion and chased it with the water James had poured for you.
“Thank you.” You admitted quietly, shame colouring your tone as you looked to your lap.
“None of that.” Remus said as he handed you another piece of chocolate.
You took it skeptically. “Why do they call you Moony?”
No one said anything for a moment, but you could tell that neither James nor Sirius were moving a muscle as they watched Remus who in turn watched you.
“Because of my lycanthropy.” He said plainly.
You looked at the various scars before you started to laugh. Sirius’ face drained of all colour while James visibly tensed.
“Of course you are. Remus Lupin. Named after a man raised by wolves and the lupus, or wolf constellation. Oh gods, it was predestined, clearly.”
“Are...are you laughing at me right now?” Remus asked incredulously.
“It’s a little funny...no?” You asked back.
He looked as if he were torn between laughing and crying. “I pour my heart out to you – my deepest darkest secret, and you laugh at me?” He asked again, some amusement colouring his features.
“I told you, I’m an arse.” You said with a shrug of your shoulders.
“Does it bother you?” Sirius asked cautiously from the end of your bed, face appearing impassive for all intents and purposes.
“I don’t see why it should, it’s none of my business.”
“It could be.” Remus input.
“You don’t want me. I’m no good, Lupin.” You stressed, looking back down at your hands.
“Neither am I.” Sirius agreed.
“Me neither.” Remus added.
“I’m n-” James started.
“So what if the only one of us worthy of love and affection here is James?” Sirius said, cutting James off. “It’s not going to stop me from cherishing what I can get - deserved or not.”
You groaned and threw your head back onto the pillow, cringing at the effect the fast movement had on you and the pain that the movement elicited in your neck.
“Okay, what about this.” James conciliated. “You don’t have to agree to be with us, just give us a chance? The time of day? One Hogsmeade trip to let us fawn over you.”
You looked up at his deep brown eyes that felt so warm you wanted to make a home in them. Sirius, in all his bravado, looked pained as he waited for an answer, and Remus smiled encouragingly at you.
“Fine!” You acquiesced with a groan. “One Hogsmeade trip.”
Much to your chagrin, though not really at all, it ended up being way more than just one Hogsmeade trip.

part 1
cw: mention of injury, no details or anything though
James Potter x Slytherin!reader ♡ 1.5k words
You hesitate outside the doorway to the infirmary at the raised voices coming from inside.
You don’t need to be here, strictly speaking. James told you his injury wasn’t bad, and he has his friends to help him if he needs it, but…you can’t settle yourself down. You hadn’t liked the way he’d limped off the field, nor the tiny grimace on his face when Sirius had wrapped a bracing arm under his shoulders. It would be just like James to downplay how hurt he is to make you feel better, and the longer the game had gone on without him the more your guts twisted themselves into knots over the idea that he was in pain.
You’d seethed at yourself and your stupid soft heart all the way to the infirmary, where now you’re frozen just outside like a coward. Something inside you is coiled tight with tension at the idea of going to see James Potter, on purpose and in public, even though that’s dumb because now everyone at Hogwarts knows about the two of you anyway. Your sappy display on the quidditch pitch made sure of that. But now that you have official and widely-known claim to the girlfriend title, you have just as much right to see him as anyone else. You shove your anxiety back into your stomach where it belongs and open the door.
As soon as you’re inside, the voices become clearer. “—like this isn’t a big deal. The Prophet’s going to be all over the two of you by tomorrow, and we had to find out with every other fucking bloke at the school!”
“Pads, you don’t think I would have told you if I could?” James sounds exhausted, and something mutinous throbs in your heart. It’s followed quickly by the more familiar twinge of irritation at the use of those moronic nicknames they all have. “She made me promise not to tell anyone, including the both of you.”
They’re talking about you. Of course they’re talking about you. What else could possibly be more important after James has fallen a good twenty feet off his broom than his dating life? This is why you hadn’t wanted to tell people. Hogwarts wears away at private lives like dementors at souls, and the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin is too strong for your relationship with James to have any hope of remaining untainted once the gossip mill got ahold of it.
Your instincts are screaming at you to turn around and leave before they catch sight of you, but you force yourself to keep walking. If you start letting what people think about you and James affect you now, you’ll never be able to get past it.
Remus is the first to spot you, going still as if you’ve come to hex him, but James’ face splits into a lopsided grin that has the knots in your gut loosening very slightly.
“Especially you,” you say to Sirius as you brush past him, perching by James' pillow and weaving your fingers into his curls. There’s a wrap around his middle. It’s very hard to appear calm and blasé when you feel like you’re going to rupture something if he doesn't promise you he’s okay right this instant. “You’d have had all of Gryffindor talking about us within an hour.”
Sirius bristles but visibly shoves his temper aside, his voice matching your coolness as he says, “If I’d told anyone, Y/L/N, it would have been to inquire about whether anyone’s noticed you gathering ingredients for amortentia recently. James doesn’t keep things from us. Artificial infatuation is the only explanation for why he’d tolerate you and your secrets.”
“Oi,” James says, but you pat his head placatingly. You can fight your own battles.
“That how you got this one?” you jut your chin towards Remus, who’s looking somewhat entertained as he watches the two of you spar. “If I’m ever in need of the recipe, Black, you’ll be the first person I come to, but I don’t need to resort to such measures myself.”
Sirius glowers at you, and James sets his hand on your shoulder just as Remus wraps a pacifying arm around his boyfriend. “Alright, I think that’s enough,” the taller boy says in his usual calm manner, and though Sirius is still tensed for a fight, he allows himself to be drawn into Remus’ side.
James nods in agreement. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you guys, really. I thought I’d get a chance to before everyone found out, but…” He turns up his palms helplessly. “Things didn’t go as planned.”
“We’ll get over it,” Remus says, Sirius quietly fuming beside him. “Won’t we, love?”
Sirius looks up at Remus' face, which is clearly a mistake, because he softens like butter in the sun. “Yeah, yeah, just gimme a bit,” he grumbles halfheartedly. “Anything to keep our Prongsie happy, right?”
James beams, so clearly relieved at the settlement of the conflict that you feel a bit guilty for participating in it. He kisses you on the cheek, chuckling against your skin. “You stink.”
“Some of us stuck around to play the whole game,” you reply.
“Ouch,” James says, but he’s grinning. “Couldn’t really help that, could I?”
You give him a look to let him know you haven’t forgotten how his negligence had gotten him hurt. “Debatable.”
You hear Remus chuckle but don’t take your eyes off James’ face, inspecting it for signs of the pain you suspect he’s hiding. “How bad is it really?” you ask, softening your voice even though there’s no chance of his friends not hearing you.
James worries his lip, big brown eyes looking into yours guiltily. “Pomphrey says I broke three ribs and bruised my tailbone pretty badly. Minor concussion, too, but nothing serious.”
Sounds serious enough to you. You ghost a hand over the back of his head as if you’ll be able to find and fix his hurt. He leans into your palm though, so it’s not for nothing. “I’m sorry I walked away out there,” you all but whisper. “I should have stayed with you.”
James eyebrows pinch together. “Hey, sweetheart, it’s okay,” he promises just as softly. He knows what it costs you to talk like this in front of people, like you’re turning yourself inside out for them to judge and stab at as they please, but James has no such reservations. He dots a kiss, feather-light, at the top of your cheekbone, wrapping an arm around you protectively. “Thanks for coming, I mean it.”
You clear your throat. “Yeah, and in my fucking quidditch gear,” you say in your normal voice, attempting to banish the heavy mood. As if your heart isn’t still beating, hummingbird-fast and fragile, in your throat. “We both need to change and shower, and then you should rest. Did Pomphrey say you could leave?”
James nods, still looking at you like you’ve cracked open in his hands (he might be right; it feels like you have, and it wouldn’t even be the first time today). He rubs your upper arm affectionately, but his voice is easygoing when he says, “Yup, I’m good to go.”
Sirius steps forward, as though to remind the two of you that he is, in fact, also present. “Great. We’ll walk you back to the room.”
You turn to him, not quite ready for your time with James to be up and aching for the opportunity to dote on him in private. “That’s okay, I can take him.”
Sirius’ eyes narrow. “You can’t even get into our dorms.”
“Please, like Gryffindor’s riddles are so perplexing.”
“I don’t need an escort,” James interjects. He pushes himself up with a grimace.
You halt him with your hands on his shoulders and Remus says, “Don’t be stupid, Prongs, you can barely walk.”
“I’ve got him,” you say firmly. Sirius stares you down, but you don’t flinch from his stony gaze. You know he doesn’t trust you. You don’t think he’d willingly trust any Slytherin. Since you’ve been at Hogwarts, the talk in your house has always been that Sirius Black shuns his family because they’re all Slytherins. Although James assures you there’s more to the story than that, it’s still obvious to anyone that he considers his friends his true family. He won’t entrust just anyone with James’ safety. But maybe that’s one thing you can agree upon.
He must see something of this in your face, because after a minute Sirius relents, rolling his eyes. “Fine,” he says. “I wanted to stop by the kitchens anyway.”
James is looking between the two of you curiously, aware that something has transpired but not quite sure what.
You don’t give Sirius a chance to change his mind. “Alright,” you say, gripping James' forearms and helping him to stand. “Let’s go, pretty boy.”
James drapes his arm across your shoulders gamely, and the two of you start out the door. “I don’t think that’s the insult you think it is.”

Sirius: My father always told me that bad news is just good news in disguise.
Y/n: Was this before he disowned you?
Sirius: Yes, it was.

Random Ravenclaw: I wonder how Lupin-Black survives dating a chaotic mess like Weasley.
Random Hufflepuff: Right? He's good looking and all but I don't think I could survive the constant pranking and detentions.
~meanwhile with Y/n & Fred~
Y/n: Can I-
Fred: No love, you will not eat the levitation candy.
Y/n, pouts: But I wanna fly like Peter pan.
Fred: And I don't want you to end up on the Great Hall ceiling and never get back down. They're just prototypes, they're still in the works.
Y/n: But-
Fred: No buts, sorry love.

slytherin sweetheart. / s. black
sirius black x fem!malfoy!reader
5.7k words
summary — james and sirius see if sirius can break the slytherin ice queen’s shell for a prank – but it leads to much more.
authors note & warnings — borderline inspired by 10 things i hate about you, shit proofreading, underage drinking, forms of child neglect and abuse, lmk anything else!
(y/n) malfoy was an ice queen, a rich and powerful pureblood princess, older twin sister of lucius malfoy. because of that fact, the marauders, particularly james potter and sirius black thought to see whether sirius “the flirt” black could get her to swoon, to get you to swoon.
you walked through the halls, a permanent glare and wicked smile duo on your face as you walked in line with your brother. other slytherins walked behind you two, following like dogs behind the malfoy twins. building up to 6th year, your brother had built up a rather cruel reputation, and you always beside him, lumped you into said reputation. first and second years cowered at the sight of the two of you. and you also seemed to be a target of numerous pranks orchestrated by four gryffindors in your year.
those four gryffindors were now sneering at the gaggle of slytherins walking into the dining hall, including you and your brother.
“we gotta do something about them.” sirius starts, “all of our pranks don't seem to affect them.”
james forms a wicked grin as a practically visible lightbulb lights over his head. “make her swoon.”
“huh?” is all that stutters out of sirius’s open mouth, “how am i ‘sposed to do that if she hates us?” sirius stares at the bespeckled boy, stating the obvious.
“stop your other dalliances,” earning a scoff from remus, “and focus only on (y/n),” james explains.
“it’ll annoy the shit outta malicious,” james’s nickname for lucius, “and then just leave.”
a twinning grin makes its way to sirius’s face as peter shrinks into himself and remus sighs in disapproval, but when have they ever listened to him?
you practically hear hisses from your table right before feeling a body slide in next to yours on the bench. you turn your head, tossing your hair over your shoulder to find the outcasted black sitting beside you. you raise a single brow at him, a small scowl on your face.
“hey there, sweetheart.” you could feel lucius’ glare from across the table.
“don’t sweetheart me, black.” you respond, taking a sip of water from your goblet.
“what are you doing here?” lucius’ cruel voice spits at the raven-haired boy.
“just trying to get to know your sister here, malicious.” you have to stifle the laugh creeping up from your chest at the nickname. your brother turns to glare at you as sirius’ lips quirk up at your show of humanity.
“pick you up friday then?” sirius quips.
‘yeah, sure black.” you respond, voice dripping with sarcasm.
“i’ll be in the common room.” you say to your brother as you get up, fixing your already shortened skirt and leaving your half finished plate on the grand table as you walk past the curly haired boy, your walk as poised as ever. sirius leaves the slytherin table to prance back to his own, “phase one is in action.”
the next few days sirius smiles at you in your shared classes, offers to help you in potions (though you’re the one who ends up helping him), even offering to walk you to your classes and carry your books, all leading up to friday.
you do not know why he seems to like you all of a sudden, but it is nice to be liked.
friday arrives, classes are over, accompanied by all of sirius’ courting gestures. you’re getting ready with your dormmates, narcissa, who your brother has taken quite a liking to, and bellatrix, to go to a ravenclaw house party, and while it is a house party, plenty of ravenclaws had invited 90 percent of the 5th, 6th and 7th year students, so it was practically come one, come all. you had been putting on the finishing touches, some blood red dangly earrings and a matching necklace. adorned in those jewels and a black mini dress and black heels you headed down to the common room. a knock on the door interrupted the mingling in the slytherin common room, an unusual sound in the dungeons. narcissa moves to open the stone door, surprise coloring her face as she sees the rejected black. you climb the few steps to see what she's gaping at to see the same sight.
sirius black in a black button up, the top few buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up. at the sight of you his eyes widen slightly before meeting your gaze.
“friday right?”
you gape at him, your dark red lipstick outlining your shock. you cast a glance back at narcissa, who has a teasing look in her eyes, not bothering to look at bella who has a fuming glare at her cousin. you sigh and push black back from the door before following him out, allowing narcissa to close the door behind you, she’ll join you at the party.
“what is this?” you whisper yell at him, though, you're not even near angry, maybe more embarrassment, if that.
“told you i’d pick you up didn't i?” he sallies back at you. you roll your eyes at him before heading out of the dungeons and to ravenclaw tower. sirius follows behind you like a dutiful puppy before catching up to your poised stride.
“you’re lucky it wasn't lucius opening that door, black.” you spare a glance at him as you go through the maze of moving staircases to ravenclaw tower.
“oh what's malicious gonna do?” you let your laugh ring out this time, a heavenly sound to the boy beside you.
“you really shouldn’t call him that,” you glance over at him again, “even if it's true.”
you don't know what's come over you, your hardened, preserved, ‘ice-cold’ heart is being chipped away at by the boy beside you, why are you walking with him? laughing at his jokes about your brother?
you don't see the wondrous gaze sirius gives you when you look forward again, this time at the front of the ravenclaw door. sirius bares you the burden of knocking on the door as he does it himself. you can smell the firewhiskey breath of the boy who opens the door, ushering you and sirius in, eyes following hogwarts’ ‘ice-queen’ who’s arrived with sirius ‘the flirt’ black.
the sconces and candles lighting the common room have been enchanted to flare blue and purple. drinks cover the tables and drunk bodies grind together in the center of the room.
“well, you picked me up and escorted me to the party, black. that’s more than most men get, i'll see you later.” you leave him, slightly disappointed, with a little wave of your fingers as you take a shot from the table and glide yourself into the sea of bodies.
the party carries on, narcissa and bellatrix arrive. narcissa makes her way to you, no doubt to question what sirius black was doing at the slytherin dungeons, and bellatrix follows her, casting a glare towards sirius.
andromeda, the only black relative who had not hated sirius arrives as well, on the arm of ted tonks, a muggleborn hufflepuff, to sirius’s knowledge. she makes her way to sirius, a curious quirk of her lips clues him in to how this conversation will go.
“so.. provoking even more pureblood families then your own, then, sirius?” she asks in a teasing tone. he scoffs out a laugh.
“‘spose so..” he trails off, his eyes finding your figure as you dance with narcissa, a begrudging bellatrix standing close to the two of you, clearly not wanting to be near any non-purebloods.
“i hope you know what that’ll do to her.” andromeda says to him before walking off with ted on her arm, leaving a disoriented sirius reeling over his older cousin’s words. he feels a strong pat on his back, sending him jolting forward for a minute before turning to see james and remus.
“so how’s the situation with miss ice queen coming along?” james asks, a grin on his lips.
“oh— uh good.. good.” sirius responds, shaking himself out of the trance that andromeda’s comment had him in. remus lifts an eyebrow at him subtly but james steers the two over to the drink table before remus can say anything.
eventually, james gets drunk enough to saunter his way over to lily evans to try and win her heart as he has tried since 1st year.
remus and sirius move to a back wall, but sirius still has a view of you, still only one shot in, still having a grand time with narcissa.
the two boys are silent for a long while and sirius’s eyes find you again, his gaze is sweet, his mind as far from the ‘prank’ this was supposed to be.
“you like her.” remus states, snapping sirius out of his adoring trance.
“what?” sirius implores, whipping his head, curls slapping his face as he turns to look at the lanky boy.
“have you thought about what you might do to her if you just leave her, as james said?” he questions the ravenette.
“w.. well no..” sirius sputters.
“if she does fall for you and you leave her, you will break her heart.” he starts, “lucius knows you're courting her, which he will be able to tell that she has been heartbroken and likely tell his parents. do you understand that?” remus pushes.
sirius stays silent, he doesn't know what to say, or what he's even thinking.
“think about that.” remus states before giving sirius a pat on the shoulder before going to join marlene and mary at the drinks table.
sirius leaves the party early after that, and your eyes watch as he goes.
over the next few days, you and sirius grow closer, opting to sit with him in potions when he offers over your brother. which causes lucius to corner you afterwards, since it is the last lecture of the day. sirius casts you a glance before walking on with his mates.
“what is going on between you two?” his voice has no concern, only barely concealed rage in his hushed tone.
“n..nothing lucius, nothing.” he raises a brow at you, “i'm just having a bit of fun with him..”
“it better be that.” is all he says before he stormed off, a threat unspoken.
your face scrunches in his direction, he had always been on your side, or was it rather you had never deviated from his?
you pulled yourself together swiftly before heading to the dungeons to drop off your stuff. you pick back up only your potions things, stuffing them into a black messenger bag before heading to the black lake where you were supposed to meet sirius to study.
you stride over to where a mess of inky curls sits, a few feet from the lake. you plop your bag down before taking off your cloak, placing it down before sitting on top of it.
“so.. what did your brother want?” sirius asks.
not malicious? you thought.
“oh, nothing..” you say, an uncertain undertone in your voice, sirius picks up on it but doesn't pry. “let’s start with amortentia.”
sirius quirks his brow at you, to which you smile and scoff, “it's the first alphabetically, black.”
you both flip to the page in your potion books but sirius lays his on the ground and looks at you, as you are supposed to be testing him. “what are the ingredients to brew amortentia?”
he thinks for a minute, his eyes on the ground, before meeting your gaze again. “ashwinder eggs, rose thorns, powdered moonstone, peppermint, and pearl dust.” he recites them properly, causing a wistful smile to make its way to your face, “and what are the possible substitutions?”
“refined peppermint oil for peppermint, and mother of pearl for pearl dust,” he answers. a grin breaks out on your face that time, a sight sirius relishes in. you smack his arm lightly, “you know this stuff, black! why are you so clueless in potions?” you question him.
“well how can i focus with you next to me, sweetheart?” he asks as he breaks your gaze to look at the lake, he doesn't see the way you try to contain your smile or the way your cheeks flush. all he hears is your scoff.
you close your potions book and set it on the grass next to you.
“so why ask me to help you study, if i distract you so much?” you tease him, and it gets his heart fluttering.
“well you're hard to get alone, (y/n).”
your lips quirk upwards as he looks back to you.
“james keeps saying how he’ll beat you into the dirt during the quidditch game this saturday, he’s even planned a party for his undetermined victory.” sirius voices.
“undetermined? so you do have some faith in me, sirius.” god, the way his name sounded from your lips.
“if we do win, you’ll come to the party?” he asks, no, pleads.
“so james can rub his win in my face, captain to captain?” you quip.
“for me.” he replies, rousing you to silence, the soft, pleading tone in his voice making your cheeks flush once again.
“I'll come.” you respond, sirius’s eyes widening slightly before a grin breaks out on his face. he then hears james and remus calling him from across the green and swiftly packs up his things and gets up.
“i’ll see you later, sweetheart.” he says before dipping down briefly to kiss your cheek and runs off to his mates, leaving you a flustered mess in peace.
saturday came quick enough, and as the captain of the slytherin team, you bring your all, however when you hear sirius call your name you look up to see a bludger coming for you. thrown off, it hits the front of your broom, missing your body completely but snapping the front of your broom off and spinning it to the ground. you end up a little disheveled, but nothing broken. the game is called off since you have no stand-ins and gryffindor wins with the points they have.
after the game you keep true to your promise to sirius and shower, getting ready for the gryffindor celebratory party. bellatrix eyes you from her bed, fury behind her dark eyes. narcissa and andromeda help you get ready, however, curling your hair for you and getting your jewelry out. you decide on a dark red long sleeve dress, fitting your body perfectly. black heeled boots and a black headband, along with your blood red earrings and necklace complete your look. you kiss andromeda and narcissa on the cheek, leaving lip prints on each of their faces before heading to gryffindor tower.
you knock on the edge of the painting, careful not to mess with the fat lady, she ushers out a ‘thank you, dear’ before a younger boy, probably a 4th year, opens the door.
“what do you want, snake?” you're thrown off by the comment, used to people being afraid to look in your direction, since when have you become soft enough for others to notice?
sirius shoves past the boy, knocking him into the wall as he grins down at you, you give him a small smile in return, “you came.”
“promised i would.” you respond as he offers his hand and you take it. he admires the red dress that adorns your figure.
“suitable dress for the house who won,” james saunters around the corner, already tipsy, “only by default.” you quip back at him, he’s definitely less hostile to you now, but whether that's from sirius’s attention or the alcohol, you couldn't say.
when you enter the common room, it's filled with boisterous laughter and celebration, and you can appreciate their enthusiasm. you find the drink table, mainly firewhiskey, a preferred favorite of the gryffindor house. you toss back a few shots, scalding your throat, hopefully to relieve some of the pain from your fall earlier. sirius looks at you with concern.
“i can have fun, black.” you shoot at him and he laughs, “of course, babe.”
your cheeks heat at the nickname, or the alcohol, but you feel your vision haze slightly already. a few more drinks in and you're dancing on the coffee table in front of the fire. gryffindors around you are cheering you on but sirius had lost you in the crowd, he looks for marlene, finding her back by the stairs with dorcas.
“you seen (y/n)?” he asks over the thunder of the crowd, she only points at you and his eyes widen, making her and dorcas laugh. He pushes through the sea of people to get to the edge of the coffee table.
as soon as he does he sees and hears you hit your head on the chandelier floating above you, it throws your drunk body off balance and you stumble until you fall right into him. thankfully, he’s nowhere near as drunk as you are and braces for impact before lifting you off the table and away from the crowd as they continue to carouse.
he sits you on the, thankfully, empty stairs, and marlene and dorcas leave you two be. you cradle your throbbing head in your hand as sirius pushes back the curled strands of your hair falling in your face.
“you need to see madame pomfrey,” he states as you wince as he tries to examine the bump, thankfully no blood.
“no, i’m.. i’m fine.” you falter, your head falling forward slightly but he holds it up.
“stay awake, (y/n).” you only hum in response. he helps you off the stairs, holding you up against his body.
“marlene bring some water to the boys dorms, please.” he shouts over the crowd but sees marlene nod at him and give a thumbs up. he ushers you up to the marauders dorm, placing you gently on his bed, making sure you’re sitting up right. you slouch over into him, your forehead against his chest as he examines the bump on your head more thoroughly. it doesn't look terrible but you did hit it pretty hard. he crouches down to be level with you, your eyes are closed and your jaw is slack, he slaps your face gently.
“hey, hey, (y/n), no, wake up. (y/n), open your eyes!” your eyes flutter open at his voice and you gaze up into his stormy ones. “hey… your eyes have a little blue in them..”
he laughs at your drunk mumble, “right you are, sweetheart.”
marlene comes in with two big glasses of water, placing them on the nightstand beside you and gazing over to you, “feel better, sweetie,” she says before leaving the two of you and closing the door.
you break your gaze to look over at the water on the nightstand and sirius catches your line of sight, grabbing the water and handing it to you. you take generous gulps before taking a breath of air, “water’s good.”
“yeah?” sirius asks you, tucking stray hairs behind your ear. his curiosity can't help but take over him, “why are you so.. closed off?” he utters the words before he can stop his lips.
you explain to him how your parents had conditioned you in the ways of a pureblood wife, silent, poised, cold. How they’d locked you in a closet if you’d talked back. How they conditioned you not to cry.
He knew exactly how you grew up, he grew up the same.
His hand moved from your hair to cradle your cheek. You glanced up at him, seeing the look of understanding and you understood too.
“what a duo we are..” you mumble
“indeed.” he responds.
“i promise i'm here for you..” you mutter.
a comfortable silence overtakes the two of you, you gaze into his stormy eyes, deeper than you’d ever expected. you lean in gently and your eyes flutter close. your lips meet his for a brief second before he pulls back. your eyebrows scrunch as your eyes open again.
“another time..” he mutters out. you back away from him, finishing the glass of water before getting up and storming out of his dorm.
you avoid his gaze in all your classes on monday, opting to sit next to your brother instead during potions, he scowls at you but doesn't refuse you. you feel sirius’ gaze on you but you ignore it. after you get out he follows after you, calling your name. he tugs on your shoulder and you spin around to face him, a scowl on your face. “please, meet me at the lake in 20, please.”
you sigh at him and walk off, no definite answer to give him. 20 minutes pass and you exit the halls of the hogwarts castle, walking into the sun’s rays and onto the green. You spot a familiar raven-haired boy sitting by the lake, the same place you ‘studied.’ you walk over to him, sitting down beside him silently.
“you came,” he says, his tone bordering astonishment as he gazes at you.
“i promised.. i'm here for you.” you answer him.
he smiles at you and you can’t help but return it.
a few weeks pass as the fall bleeds into winter and the yule ball is brought up. you and sirius have begun hanging out practically everyday after potions. his mates, james specifically, have started to notice. when sirius gets back into the dorms — after missing dinner — and he sits his happy ass down on his bunk, james puts down the potions assignment he was attempting to work on.
“what’s with you and (y/n)?” james asks, no hostility in his voice, pure curiosity.
sirius snaps out of his giddy daze quickly, “nothing,” he replies, hesitation dripping from his voice.
“he likes her.” peter squeaks out.
when remus can’t talk about things going on in the group to everyone, he talks to peter about it — the boy’s so quiet anyway. james's eyes widen slightly while sirius’s practically bulge out of his head. he looks accusingly at remus who only throws his hands up in surrender.
“i mean it's fine if you do, sirius, but.. (y/n)?” james utters out, causing sirius to turn to him, a small glare in his eyes at his best friend.
“she’s not what you think she is.” he says coldly.
“hey, i believe you, mate! If you say she’s not a heinous stuck-up bitch, i believe you.” james says with a small smile, causing sirius to throw a dirty quidditch jersey in his general direction, pulling a laugh out of the tan boy.
“does this mean i can talk about her now? cause i've had to keep all my shit to myself and it is hard.” sirius says, getting approvals from his mates before he begins blabbing all about you into the night.
you’re huddled with narcissa and bellatrix in the courtyard when you feel a tap on your shoulder and see bellatrix sneer at whoever is behind you, causing a grin to pull at your lips as you turn to face sirius. bellatrix stomps off and narcissa follows her, but not before giving your shoulder a soft squeeze.
“sirius,” you regard him, tucking a loose curl behind his ear, causing his pale cheeks to redden slightly.
“go to the ball with me.” he asks, or rather urges. You let out a soft giggle, “i would love to.”
his face breaks into a grin at your response and he can’t help but cup your cheeks and plant a soft kiss on your lips, the kiss is all smiles and you giggle again when he parts. “you’ve gotta get to class, love,” he whispers.
“so do you..” you respond, but he only tucks a stray hair behind your ear in return and walks off. you have a soft smile on your face as you walk to charms.
unknown to you, your twin was behind one of the stone columns of the courtyard, witnessing your display of affection, and heads to his dorm to write a letter.
weeks pass and the ball creeps up. you’ve been to boutique’s on the higher end of hogsmeade with narcissa and have gotten dresses. narcissa’s a deep envy green, and yours to contrast, a deep red. floor length, the waist line just below your chest and thin straps. matching silk gloves run up your arms and your hair is curled and styled down. you walk down to the dining hall, revamped for the yule ball, with narcissa, her parting from you once she sees lucius, who had asked her. you glance around, not seeing sirius, but you spot marlene, along with dorcas and lily. you hesitantly make your way over to her, stopping a foot away from her. dorcas taps her shoulder and points to you and marlene turns.
“oh, hey doll!” she says before looking over your dress. “god, sirius is gonna lose his mind!” she comments, making you smile.
“you bet he is.” lily laughs out.
“you guys mind if i stay with you till sirius comes?” you ask gingerly.
“not at all, babe!” marlene affirms, they make you feel welcome immediately. the four of you chatter, lily mentioning something about how the boys are late to everything.
dorcas spots james followed by the others and waves him down. he makes his way over, arm circling lily’s waist as he steps up to you four. seems she finally gave in to him.
you turn to spot the other three, a few steps behind and when sirius sees you’re talking with his friends his heart stutters and then swells. He skips over to you, his arm copying james’s action. “amazing dress, love.”
marlene and dorcas simper at him and he gives them a look.
you end up spending most of the night with sirius and his mates, dancing in turn with the girls and your date. a slow song has just finished up and the girls whisk you away once again.
“is sirius good to you, truly?” dorcas asks you, and you smile, “he is, he’s sweet, and funny, and honest..” you say as you feel him creep up behind you leaning over your shoulder, “talkin’ about me, love?”
you roll your eyes at him, your smile widening at his mere presence. james saunters up behind him, throwing an arm around both sirius and you, squeezing himself between the two of you. “crazy how (y/n) got brought into our little group ‘cause of a prank,” james says, and you falter.
“what?” you ask, a confused smile still on your face but is wiped off immediately by james’s next words.
“yeah, near the beginning of the year we thought it’d be fun to crack your shell and get sirius to flirt with you and.. stuff..” james trails off as he catches lily’s glare, along with marlene and dorcas’s tensed faces, and then yours.
it was now silent in the hall to you — the shrieks and laughs of joy from the ball now drowned out. your eyes are glossed over with tears, but you dare not let them spill as you look at sirius accusingly.
“(y/n), listen—” he starts but you storm away, james dropping his arm as you speed out of the hall.
“do you not know when to shut up, james?” marlene whisper yells at him as sirius tries chasing after you.
he runs after you down one of the corridors as you're making your way back to the dungeons, he grabs your wrist, whirling you around. “(y/n), please listen!”
“are you going to deny what james said?” you ask coldly, he hadn't heard your voice like that in months, and it was as if he’d gotten a bucket of ice-cold water dumped on him. “well.. i can't but—”
you break out of his grasp, one tear slipping from the corner of your eye.
“don’t talk to me, black.” you storm off again, leaving him in the middle of the empty corridor.
the rest of the year passes in a blur, you’ve been shunned by your brother, and you were a cold, ice queen again. sitting alone in classes you don’t have with narcissa. you had appointed a new captain for the quidditch team and you quit. you spent your time in your dorm, sometimes by the black lake during quidditch games when you knew sirius couldn’t run off and find you.
and sirius.. he was in shambles, sulking practically the rest of the year.
summer came and you went home, riding in a train compartment with lucius, the silence enveloping the enclosed area was suffocating. you were grateful to finally get back to your manor, until you were stopped by your house elf from entering. your father came to the door, nodding at lucius before turning to you. “i understand you were involved with sirius black and his.. company.”
your heart stops and you nearly drop your luggage. tightening your grip on it, you manage to utter out, “..what?”
“you’ve become a blood traitor, (y/n). this is no longer your home.” and then he shuts the door in your face. a sigh forces its way out of your lungs and suddenly, all the walls and barriers you built around your heart shatter, the dam overflows.
your eyes well with tears and they overflow, the years of holding them back and pushing them down all come to surface. you sob.
only a few minutes later you hear a honk behind you. turning, you see what you're to understand is the knight bus. you take a ragged breath in before straightening your face, still trained to push down feelings. you step onto the bus and the ‘host’ asks where you're headed, “.. the leaky cauldron.” you utter out before sitting on one of the many beds that are not unlike the beds in the hogwarts dorms.
you get there and pay for a room. you stay for a few days, until your pocket money runs out and you have to leave again. you debate going back to malfoy manor for a few minutes before ultimately deciding it wasn’t a smart idea. it’s night again, you're not sure how long it's been since you weren't allowed in your house, you had rarely bathed, the days had turned into blurs.
you step out into the chilly air of london outside the leaky cauldron, your breath forming clouds in front of you. and in a few minutes the knight bus came again. you don't hesitate before stepping on this time. and when the host asks where you’re headed, you reply, “potter manor.” without thinking.
you’d remembered sirius telling you how euphemia, james’s mother, practically adopted him after being kicked out.
it’s only a few minutes before you've arrived. you thank the driver before getting off as it whizzes away again.
you take a few minutes to walk up to the door, and a few more beats to knock lightly on the door. your hear a warm ‘coming!’ from inside before you’re met with the sight of what you believe is james’ mom. her face visibly drops as she sees the state you're in.
“oh dearie, what happened to you?” she asks but you don’t answer as she ushers you in. she sits you at the large dining table as she ushers around the kitchen, she comes back a few minutes later with a steaming cup of vanilla-something tea. you graciously accept the tea, blowing before taking a scalding sip and warming your hands on the cup, your gaze trained down. you freeze as you hear footsteps and familiar voices coming down the stairs. james and sirius turn to see who euphemia’s guest is, only to see your mussed hair and blotchy face. your undereyes are defined in dark circles and swollen. you wipe your nose with the back of your hand as you look down at your lap.
“..(y/n)?” sirius asks, his voice soft.
“you’re the (y/n) sirius hasn't stopped talking about? no wonder you came here dearie.” euphemia says, “you can stay as long as you need, honey.” she says as she gets up, ushering james out of the room, telling him to make up a guest room, ultimately giving you and sirius space.
sirius moves swiftly to crouch beside you, he raises his hand tenderly to cup your jaw before turning you to look at him. “what happened, sweetheart?”
oh, that name.
your eyes well up again, “got kicked out..” you manage a grief-stricken laugh. his thumb swipes across your cheek.
“lucius told my parents about us and,” you hiccup, and continue in a softer voice, “i didn't know where else to go..”
his is hands move to wrap around your body, pulling you into a secure hug. “i’m glad you came, love.”
you bury your face in his shoulder, letting your tears soak his sweater.
he pulls himself away for a moment, running his hand through your hair to push them away from your face. “i swore to myself as soon as i could i’d explain.”
your eyes meet his but you stay silent, too tired to say anything.
“it did start out as a prank, our.. relationship, i will not lie to you, but the first day i talked to you i had already fallen for you. when you tried to stifle your laugh at my name for lucius, i wanted you to laugh at me forever.”
“malicious suits pretty well, though, huh.” you chuckle sadly, you're voice sore from disuse and tears.
“i did truly fall for you, (y/n), none of my actions were ungenuine.” he says as he moves to cup your face again. “please believe me when i say, you will never know how sorry and upset with myself i am for hurting you.”
your swollen, tear-stained face smiled at him. you lifted your hand to tuck a curl behind his ear, “there’s no need to apologize, sirius. I was a bit dramatic..”
“no, you weren’t, love. I should have told you, or just not done it at all.” he vindicates you. “i never want to hurt you again.”
“i trust you, sirius.” you say softly. he looks up into your eyes, his gaze flitting down to your lips briefly. you lean down and kiss him tenderly.
your lips taste of salt and vanilla but he pays no mind. he pulls away before caressing your face once more.
he stands, placing a kiss on the top of your forehead. “let’s get you some sleep, love.”

Brother’s Best Friend
Sirius Black x reader
In which Sirius Black finds comfort in the person he least expects.
Tumblr media
The same day that Sirius Black realized his parents were Slytherins was the same day that Sirius had sworn off all Slytherins forever. It started off as a childish thing, a one-sided, unspoken attempt to get back at his parents for all of their strict rules and exaggerated lectures about the importance of his pure-blood ancestry.
When he met James Potter on his first train ride to Hogwarts, the resentment towards Slytherins grew into a shared inside joke. Something that the two of them could continuously throw around. Never mind that James Potter was from a pure-blood family as well. The joke was just another feeble attempt to get back at his parents.
And then, he met Severus Snape. And then, he met the insults and snide remarks of his Slytherin classmates. And then, he had finally decided: there was no good that came out of Slytherin.
So it’s no surprise that when his little brother, Regulus, was sorted into Slytherin a year later, Sirius was devastated. Sirius was silent during the entirety of dinner and even remained silent as he arrived in his dorm. The other boys tried not to disturb him, but they had never seen him so quiet before, and it was starting to disturb them.
“Some evening,” Peter said awkwardly, a yawn emerging from him. Remus gave him a strict look before turning his attention back to Sirius, worry evident on his face.
The silence only seemed to grow thicker until finally Sirius sighed and his words rushed out, eager for release.
“I thought he was different. This whole time I thought he wasn’t like them,” Sirius began.
“I mean yeah, Slytherins can be awful, but he’s your brother,” James replied, attempting to soothe his best friend.
“Very insightful, James,” Remus said sarcastically from his side of the dorm. He leaned back against his bed frame. “But I agree. He’s your brother. You know him.”
“I don’t think I do anymore,” he replied solemnly, his eyes sullen yet harsh.
“Don’t be like that, Sirius,” said Remus, “just talk to him.”
Sirius doesn’t talk to him the next day. Or the rest of the year for that matter. He says what he has to during the summer but when school starts, he goes back to ignoring him.
It’s not easy to pretend that Regulus doesn’t exist. He started to play quidditch. He is one of the smartest in his year. And he’s always seen with a Slytherin girl that is in Sirius’ potions class. She’s reserved and intelligent. She seems polite enough. She talks with Lily Evans. She’s even pretty. But she’s also a Slytherin and Sirius believes that’s a good enough reason not to trust her.
She’s always with Regulus. They sit together in the Great Hall. They walk in the corridors together. Sirius spots her one day leaning against Regulus’ shoulder, laughing loudly at something he said. Sirius resents her for it. He hates her for knowing Regulus.
Later that day, Sirius is walking into Potions class when he spots her talking with Lily Evans. He tries to walk past unbothered, but then he hears her mention Regulus’ name.
“Regulus and I have a bet,” she says with a laugh. Sirius tries to ignore how sweet her laugh sounds.
“Is that right?” Lily chuckles and shakes her head.
“He’s the best seeker that’s ever been. Write it down. This Saturday. You’ll see.”
“He really doesn’t think he’ll catch the snitch?” Lily wonders curiously.
The girl responds back with a small pout. “He doubts himself a lot. I hate it. But I’ll win the bet, and he’ll see.”
Sirius rolls his eyes and continues walking. What does she know? Regulus is his brother after all.
Their conversation leaves him with an irritation that follows him the rest of the day and a worry that maybe he doesn’t know his brother anymore. James has tried cheering him up, but Sirius continues his sulking all day. He hardly eats anything when they sit down in the Great Hall. He goes to bed as soon as they make their way to the dorms. No one bothers him.
The next morning, the marauders don’t even have to ask Sirius what’s wrong. He wakes up determined and explains the whole situation to them.
“He doubts himself sometimes. I hate it,” Sirius says, mocking the girl as his story comes to an end. He shakes his head furiously.
“Are you talking about y/n?” asks Remus.
“Y/n? I don’t even know who that is. Did you hear anything that I even said?” Sirius looks as if Remus has just deeply betrayed him.
“The girl you keep complaining about. She’s Lily’s partner in potions,” says Remus as if this is common knowledge.
“A friend of Lily’s is a friend of mine,” says James, a teasing smile on his face.
Sirius thinks that maybe, given a different circumstance, he might have laughed. But James is supposed to always be on his side, so he makes a face of disgust instead. “You too? Peter?”
“She’s quite pretty,” He responds with a shrug of his shoulders.
“She’s a Slytherin,” Sirius mutters, but it’s loud enough for the rest of them to catch it.
“Really?” Remus rolls his eyes, “I thought we were past all of the house prejudice or whatever you’d like to call it.”
“That’s not why I don’t like her,” Sirius lies, quickly defending himself. He pauses as he struggles to come up with another valid reason. He continues on anyway, “she’s very… assuming. How can she possibly know how Regulus feels? I’m his brother. If anyone knows him it’s me.”
The three of the boys share a knowing look.
“Sirius,” Peter speaks up hesitantly “when’s the last time you even spoke to Regulus?”
Sirius isn’t sure why that question hits him as hard as it does, but it hurts. Surely it wasn’t that long ago. They spoke a little during last summer whenever he wasn’t at James’ house…
Sirius decides that he doesn’t owe any of them an explanation. He stands up quickly and mutters a faint, “excuse me.”
Sirius’ urge to run away leads him to the front of Hogwarts’ entrance. He finds it ironic that the first thing he notices as he exits Hogwarts’ front doors is the Slytherin girl, or Y/n as she sits alone near the Great Lake.
Sirius had no time to think about the reckless act he was about to make. He was fueled by the anger of Peter’s question and the fact that he really didn’t know when the last time he had spoken to his brother was. He figured the only obvious option was to blame her. The girl with soft eyes and a determined expression. The girl sitting with her back against the tree, seeming not to notice the ruckus of the other students around her, not even noticing Sirius’ haste steps towards her as she stares into her book.
“Y/n, is it?” he says finally as he comes to an abrupt stop in front of her. In a quick second, her eyebrows furrow and her gaze is on him. Her eyes even widen a little bit.
She takes a few seconds to respond, and in all of those few seconds, Sirius can feel himself growing impatient. Before she can even finish saying yes, Sirius cuts her off.
“It’s a bit cold out here to be reading don’t you think?” his tone is harsh.
“What?” she replies confused, and Sirius almost feels bad. Almost.
“It’s just that it’s cold, and you’re not even wearing a jacket and…” Sirius’ voice begins to falter. His pride doesn’t let him stop. “I’m Regulus’ brother.”
She nods. “I know that,” she says sharply.
Sirius is immediately taken aback.
“Fine. Who are you anyway, his girlfriend or something?” he replies back with the same sharpness in his tone.
She laughs loudly enough to surprise him. He looks at her in confusion, and she shakes her head. “Who are you to ask something like that? You won’t even look at him.”
Sirius tries not to let that hurt him, but it does. “I’m his brother.” He keeps saying this. He’s hoping that after saying it enough times this simple fact will make up for everything else.
“No. I’m not his girlfriend,” she replies.
“You just seem to always be with him,” Sirius presses on, and he knows he shouldn’t, but some pathetic part of him feels like by talking to her, he’s kind of talking to Regulus.
“He’s my best friend.” With those simple words, Sirius has the daunting feeling that he has completely lost his brother. He doesn’t say anything for a few seconds, and Y/n just stares up at him curiously.
“Why are you speaking to me, Sirius?” she asks after moments of silence.
“I don’t know,” he admits because isn’t it just the truth? He doesn’t know.
Y/n continues to stare at him, and it kind of annoys Sirius until she finally says, in a calm voice, “Talk to him before the match tomorrow.”
Sirius doesn’t really understand, but before he can ask, she’s adding on.
“ ‘Good luck’ or ‘you’re going down’ I don’t care what it is. Talk to him.” And with that, she goes back to her book.
Sirius is going to talk to him. The game is about to start, and Regulus is right there. He’s going to talk to him any minute now…
Regulus is already focused on the game. Most people have a hard time understanding Regulus, but to Sirius it comes naturally. He can see the way worry flickers across his face before immediately being pushed away. He feels the urge to reach out, to comfort him. And now he understands why Y/n had asked him to say something; he understands her conversation with Lily.
The whistle blows and Regulus is about to fly when Sirius blurts it out.
“Good luck,” he says to Regulus. Regulus is undoubtedly surprised. His eyebrows raise, and he’s quiet for a few seconds.
Then, he simply nods, “Sure, you too.”
Regulus doesn’t sound bitter. The interaction between them almost feels natural. Sirius smiles lightly. Although, it doesn’t take long for the brief happiness to subside into a feeling of guilt. He spent so much time resenting his brother for something outside of his control. He has a sinking feeling that he was wrong.
He tries to find Y/n in the stands, and when he does he breathes in sharply at the sight. She is smiling so brightly that he finds it difficult to look away. He hates to admit it, but he thinks he might have been wrong about her too.

Sirius x slytherin!reader who grew up together, him, regulus, and reader used to be inseparable.
Then sirius got sorted into gryffindor.
Sure, they still talked every once in a while, said hey when they passed in the halls.
Until he stopped. He stopped smiling back, stopped waving at her, stopped caring all together.
Regulus was so caught up in trying to fill the crack that sirius left in his family that he forgot about her too.
She feels abandoned, alone, unwanted. The two boys she grew up with were forgetting her, moving on to bigger things, and she was left behind.
Until one day, she sees sirius again, but it doesn't turn out how she thought it would. He doesn't apologise and take her away from her equally shitty family, as she'd always dreamed he would.
He sneaks into her dorm room late at night, talks her out of her clothes, and when she wakes up, it's to him sneaking back out. Whispering something about it being 'their secret'.
And so they contine like that. He's too blind to see he's hurting her, and she's too desperate to care.
She sees him around school but doesn't dare to say hi. She doesn't fit in with his new friends, with his new life. She's just a bad habit he can't be bothered to kick.
And it stings. It sends a sharp pain through her heart every time they make eyecontact at dinner, and he instantly turns away. He can't even risk looking at her.
And of course she's not the only one. She knows that. She sees him at parties, openly making out with other girls. Never her.
So she starts plotting. It starts off small, sending notes or sneaky hexes to girls interested in him, scaring them off without them ever knowing who it was.
Then, it was small inconveniences to his day. Hiding his books, sabotaging his homework, spreading a rumour. She knew it was hurting him, but it got him back in her bed at the end of the day.
And then it all got out of control. He started to slowly pull away, despite her best efforts to draw him back in, the small things weren't working anymore.
So she went bigger, messier. And then she slipped. He figured it out.
She was behind all the frustrating little things that made his life worse. She was behind the rumours and the lies and the things she didn't even care was hurting him.
And so it all comes to a front. Screaming, crying, accusations, insults. It's a mess of angst and hurt and pent-up emotions.
She's yelling about how he left her behind. How he forgot her and used her and how she'd struggled without him.
He's yelling about how she's needy and pathetic, and she could've ruined his life. How she needs to let go of the past. They were kids, for fuck sake.
He didn't need her anymore, but she still needed him.
