Extremely niche post ahead
Me, reading BBC Merlin fan theories and fiction, knowing authors are unknowingly making some of the best arguments against gun control that I have ever heard:

❝ Who is it that I owe my life to? ❞
❝ You owe me nothing. ❞
❝ I let each man cut me once before I kill him. ❞
❝ You will accord all respect to my people, or you will leave my service sooner than you'd wish, and with more scars than when you came. ❞
❝ He would have you. ❞
❝ I want every man who sees them to know the dragons have returned. ❞

Bods! Random question for ya:
If you had someone wanting to get into our little fandom, what fics on AO3 would you recommend to them and why? Positivity for your fellow authors is encouraged!
Fantastic question! I actually think that this entirely depends on what genre they like:
Do they prefer fluff, angst, crack, romance, friendship, what is the vibe they are going for?
Do they not have a book or show preference or do they have a strong preference?
Do they have specific characters or relationships they like to read about?
Do they want a quick one shot or a longer fic and are they okay reading a fic if the fic is in progress? This question might be more optional or mood dependent, but I thought I'd add it.
Another optional question: is there a specific type of AU they like?
Going through all the characters and possibilities might be a bit much, so I went through my bookmarks on AO3 as well as some of my mutuals works to highlight some personal favorites of mine, though that is heavily based on my preferences, so keep that in mind. If this person or indeed if anyone needs specific recommendation (e.g., "fluff featuring the four main kids book version only" or "angst involving the twins in the show" etc.) then I’d be happy to provide those, but as it is, there’s just too many wonderful author’s in the fandom and too many wonderful works to list here.
With that in mind, here is a list of some of my favorites and the genres they correspond to, while trying to provide a wide variety of authors, genres, book vs. show fics and characters. I tried to include fics I recently bookmarks so some of the newer less well-known stuff can get some attention:
nicholas and company destroy the prison industrial complex! by @mysteriouseggsbenedict: A book related crack fic about Nicholas and the mbs adults destroying the prison industrial complex. I laughed out loud while reading this, it's hilarious.
Innocent or not, you're not a bet I care to take by @sophieswundergarten: A book related angst/fluff piece about the relationships between the executives in the aftermath of canon events. It was an honor to have this gifted to me; I reread it all the time.
“There is no evil in sorcery, only in the hearts of men” by @myfairkatiecat: A show related fic that revolves around a magic AU that honest fits the show really really well and is criminally underrated. The way the element of magic is worked into the character dynamics really sells it.
here's to (never) growing up by @mollyhats: Between show and book canon (could go either way). Classic bonding and fluff with the kiddos, mostly hurt/comfort.
The Best Decision by @heyitsthatonesmolgay: the show versions of Nathaniel and Nicholas talk to their past selves. Great if you like one shots that you can read quickly, but then think about literally forever. Again, it was an honor to have this gifted to me, and I reread it all the time.
I can feel all my bones coming back and I'm craving motion by @oflightningandstars: A book fic about the Wetheralls focusing on elements of neurodivergency (which I love) that is really well written. Also includes Moocho, of course.
capture the sun by @mahpotatoequeen: A book centered fic about the life of Kate Wetherall that is really a deep dive into her character through the years. Beautifully written, a lot of hurt/comfort.
Food for Thought by @phtalogreenpoison: A book fic about Milligan and Number Two, once again focusing on hurt/comfort and disability head canons (you see now what I meant about my bookmarks reflecting my interests). Incredible read, highly recommend.
The Interview by @acollectionofcuriousreblogs: A book fic about Sticky Washington that's very good if you like angst. Super unsettling, but an amazing read.
someone only you could want by @kneeslapworthy: A show fic about SQ and Curtain's relationship healing post canon. This one is an older fic, but once again, underrated and still one of my favorites.
It's still raining by @sqenthusiast: A book fic about the executives and the shared hurt and trauma they suffer through under Curtain. Includes a lot of Jillson's POV, which is a rare one, so I really appreciated that.
Lifeline by @mvshortcut: A combination book and show fic about Constance and Nathaniel post canon. Amazing visuals, some great stuff in regards to the complexity of Nathaniel's character and brilliant utilization of Constance's psychic powers.
Fairytale by @fandom-queen-13: A book fic that is an fairytale retelling using the mbs characters (mostly the Wetheralls) that is extremely well done. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you like AUs, you should read this one.
The Alpaca by @lizardwoman-from-earths-core-2: An amazing fic that show how the show alpaca became a member of the Wetherall family.
Let all the singing follow them, and bring them comfort by @crow-in-springtime: Show Curtain takes the family to see Hades Town to make up for his many crimes. It's a fun time!
I'm sure there's a lot that I'm forgetting, again, I tried to provide a bit of a variety here, but if any of you ever have specific requests, I would be happy to dig those out for you.
And feel free to add onto this post if you want!

Doctor Faustus: Yearning for infinite knowledge and questioning his faith, Doctor Faustus forsakes his scholarly studies for the world of magic and sorcery. He makes a pact with the devil. If the evil spirit, Mephastophilis, will serve him for 24 years, Faustus will bequeath the devil his soul after his death and spend eternity damned in hell. Despite warnings from colleagues, Faustus is blind to the terrifying extent of his actions until it is too late. Going on a journey with Mephastophilis and displaying his magic to a host of influential and important figures, Faustus finally realizes that he has come to the end of his allotted time on earth and learnt nothing.
The Importance of Being Earnest: Two bachelors, John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff, create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure.
Propaganda under the cut!
Doctor Faustus:
Gay as hell (I wrote a 30 page senior thesis on this), beautiful writing, great if you're going through some shit and have christian guilt, then you can kin Faustus really hard
funny and also a great look at christianity and damnation. also faustus is gay for a demon
It's about Christianity and damnation where Faustus is bored of academia because he's too smart so he sells his soul to the devil for magic. Then, he pranks the pope and is gay for his demon attendant.
God this play is so good. A scholar, who's learned all he could of earthly things, sells his soul to the devil for magic. It's about sin, damnation, predestination. Is Faustus damned or is he damning himself? God it’s so good. Going to list some of my favorite lines now bc the writing is just so <33
When Faustus asks the demon Mephastophilis how he can be here on earth when he's damned to hell, he says "Why this is hell, nor am I out of it. / Think'st thou that I, who saw the face of God, / And tasted the eternal joys of heaven, / Am not tormented with ten thousand hells / In being deprived of everlasting bliss?" which is just so true. Like god that conception of hell is so. Like yeah. Of course anywhere other than heaven would be hell when one has experienced heaven. God.
So many lines from Faustus questioning his choice and wondering if he should repent and if he were to repent would God even forgive him like "Why waverest thou? O, something soundeth in mine ears: 'Abjure this magic, turn to God again.' / Ay, and Faustus will turn to God again. / To God? He loves thee not: / Thou God thy servest is thine own appetite." Like the “To God? He loves thee not” gets me every fucking time bc he is SO convinced that he’s damned, he’s SO convinced that there’s no hope for him and that God does not love him. Like. And "Whither should I fly? / If unto God, he'll throw me down to hell.” Again, he’s absolutely convinced that there’s no hope for him. Even if he wants to repent, it doesn’t matter; God will turn him away. And "What art thou Faustus, but a man condemned to die?" And, god one of my favorite Faustus being convinced of his own damnation lines, "But Faustus' offense can ne'er be pardoned! The serpent / that tempted Eve may be saved, but not Faustus." Even the SERPENT THAT TEMPTED EVE may be saved, but not Faustus. Like?? He’s so convinced of his own damnation that he believes that even if the literal serpent who caused the fall of humans could be saved, he would still be damned. Like god. Also, this whole spiel after another scholar is like call on God and repent to which Faustus goes, “On God, whom Faustus hath abjured? On God / whom Faustus hath blasphemed? Ah, my God—I would weep, but the devil draws in my tears! Gush forth blood, instead of tears—yea, / life and soul! O, he stays my tongue! I would lift my hands, but / see, they hold them, they hold them!” Like god. He would weep but the devil draws in his tears and he is weeping blood instead. He would raise up his hands to heaven but he is being held down. And like the beginning. The “who am I to call on God? God whom I have abjured and renounced? God who I have cursed and blasphemed? Who am I to call on him? Would he even answer if I did? If I could?” Like god. It’s so.
And finally, my fucking absolute favorite lines in the entirety of the play, which technically fall under the Faustus repenting category, but deserve their own number bc I love this part so much. Background: These are lines said by Faustus in his final monologue, a monologue that really starkly resembles Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. It is Faustus, minutes before the devils come to take his soul, pleading to God for the last time to have mercy on him. He says (bear with me this is long) “The stars move still, time runs, the clock will strike, / The devil will come, and Faustus must be damned. / O I’ll leap up to my God! Who pulls me down? / See, see where Christ’s blood streams in the firmament! / One drop would save my soul, half a drop; ah my Christ— / Ah, rend not my heart for naming of my Christ; / Yet will I call on him—O spare me, Lucifer! / Where is it now? ‘Tis gone: and see where God bends his ireful brows! / Mountains and hills, come, come and fall on me, / And hide me from the heavy wrath of God. / No, no? / Then I will run headlong into the earth: / Earth, gape! O no, it will not harbor me.” So what’s happening here? Faustus is watching the time tick by before the devil comes to take him. He is trying to leap up to God, to repent, but he can’t; there’s someone pulling him down. Is it the devil? Is it himself? Who knows. Then, he sees Christ’s blood in the sky. He’s begging for it. For not even one drop, just half a drop; if he could just have half a drop perhaps he could be saved. That line btw, while it is only in the A text of Doctor Faustus (there’s two versions of the play, the A text and B text), is often still included in the B text editions bc it’s just that fucking good. Anyway. He pleads to Christ, something he is not allowed to do under his contract with Lucifer; he is not allowed to call upon God or Jesus or say any holy names. So when he calls upon Christ, he knows what Lucifer could do to him for it, but calls on him anyway, begging Lucifer to spare him. But once he invokes Lucifer’s name, the blood in the sky disappears. Instead, now all he sees is God’s ireful brows. So, he tries to take shelter from God in the earth, but not even the Earth will harbor him. It’s just so. Like god. And finally, at the end of his monologue, right before the devils enter to drag him to hell, Faustus cries, “My God, my God, look not so fierce on me!” a line which is just so. A blatant blasphemy of “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me,” this line is everything to me. Like god. It’s just so. God.
Anyway, Doctor Faustus is fucking amazing and these aren’t even all my favorite lines, I have so many more and there’s so much more I love about this play, but this is already long enough. It’s just so good. It’s a meditation on predestination and damnation, it’s blasphemous, it’s wonderful. The writing is so good. I just love it so much.
The Importance of Being Earnest:
Queercoded love interest and Victorian dandies, what’s not to love?
Quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever read.
It's very funny.
there is a HANDBAG and it is a MAJOR PLOT POINT. jack pretends to be ernest because he's been doing it for ages and why not am i right? algernon pretends to be ernest to get a girl and also so screw stuff up. as one does. gwendolen and cecily have a REALLY passive aggressive tea party. this play slaps. it is so good. go read it and/or see it
“Nothing will induce me to part with Bunbury, and if you ever get married, which seems to me extremely problematic, you will be very glad to know Bunbury. A man who marries without knowing Bunbury has a very tedious time of it.”
Lady Bracknell: “I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square.”
Lady Bracknell: “My nephew, you seem to be displaying signs of triviality.”
Jack: “On the contrary, Aunt Augusta, I’ve now realized for the first time in my life the vital Importance of Being Earnest.”

Chapter 2: Four Marks
The journey of (Y/N) and Geralt continued as they left the familiar woods of their village and ventured into the unknown. Their path took them through winding trails and dense forests, encountering the occasional pack of vicious wolves and the eerie silence of ancient ruins. Each challenge they faced only strengthened their bond and sharpened their skills.
As they traveled, (Y/N) couldn't help but feel a sense of purpose and excitement that she had never experienced before. With Geralt by her side, she delved deeper into the world of monsters, magic, and mysteries, and she discovered a growing admiration for the Witcher's unwavering dedication to his craft.
Their journey led them to the bustling town of Posada, nestled at the crossroads of several important trade routes. It was a place where people of all walks of life converged, and rumors of monsters and dark sorcery were whispered in every tavern and marketplace.
Posada was a town plagued by a string of mysterious and gruesome murders, and it had sent fear rippling through the hearts of its inhabitants. Geralt and (Y/N) arrived in the midst of this turmoil, their keen senses immediately alert to the palpable tension in the air.
The Witcher and the hunter made their way to the local tavern, hoping to gather information about the recent killings. The patrons huddled in whispered conversations, their eyes darting nervously at the newcomers. Geralt approached the bartender, a grizzled man with a haunted look in his eyes.
"What can I get you?" the bartender asked, trying to sound nonchalant but failing to hide his anxiety.
"Information," Geralt replied, laying a few coins on the counter. "We're here to help with your monster problem."
The bartender hesitated before leaning in closer. "It's a devil, they say. Comes in the night, leaving nothing but blood and terror in its wake."
(Y/N) exchanged a glance with Geralt, her heart sinking at the thought of the town's suffering. "Where have the attacks occurred?"
The bartender listed several locations around the town, including an abandoned home at the edge of the forest, a local brothel, and a nearby farm. The victims were varied—men, women, and even children—all brutally killed with no witnesses to the crimes.
Geralt nodded in understanding, and he and (Y/N) set out to investigate. They decided to start with the abandoned home, as it was the closest to the town. As they walked through the cobbled streets, (Y/N) couldn't help but notice the fearful looks they received from the townsfolk. Posada was a place where Witchers were regarded with a mixture of hope and suspicion.
Arriving at the derelict house, they found it in disarray, with signs of a struggle and fresh bloodstains on the floor. The scene was unsettling, and (Y/N) could sense the presence of dark magic in the air.
They proceeded to the other locations, discovering similar gruesome scenes at each one. It was evident that a powerful and malevolent force was at play, and (Y/N) couldn't help but feel a growing sense of unease.
One evening, as the sun began to set, they returned to the tavern to regroup and plan their next move. Geralt's medallion had vibrated in response to the dark magic they had encountered, a clear sign that the source of the evil was nearby.
The bartender, seeing their return, approached them with a troubled expression. "You're back. Have you found anything?"
Geralt glanced at (Y/N) before addressing the man. "We've seen the aftermath of the attacks, and we suspect it's the work of a powerful creature. But we need more information. Is there anyone who might know something about the recent killings?"
The bartender hesitated for a moment before nodding. "There's an old woman who lives on the outskirts of town. They say she's got strange powers, talks to the spirits. Some folks think she might know something about the devil that's been terrorizing us."
Without wasting any time, Geralt and (Y/N) made their way to the home of the old woman. Her cottage was nestled in the woods, a place that exuded an eerie sense of otherworldly energy. The air was thick with the scent of herbs and incense, and the sound of chanted incantations filled the surroundings.
The old woman, a withered figure with deep, knowing eyes, welcomed them into her home. She introduced herself as Lyudmila and gestured for them to sit.
"You seek answers," Lyudmila said, her voice carrying a mystical quality. "I can sense it in your hearts. But be warned, the evil that haunts this town is not of this world. It is a curse, born of a great injustice."
(Y/N) and Geralt listened intently as the old woman began to tell them a tale of betrayal, vengeance, and the ancient magic that bound a vengeful spirit to the town. They learned of a tragic love story that had ended in betrayal, leading to a powerful curse that sought to claim innocent lives in its wake.
Lyudmila, with tears in her eyes, explained that the spirit could only be put to rest by righting the wrongs of the past. The details of the curse were complex and required them to uncover long-buried secrets and confront the bitterness that had festered for generations.
With determination in their hearts, Geralt and (Y/N) embarked on a mission to unravel the mystery and put an end to the malevolent spirit's reign of terror. It was a daunting task that would test their skills and the strength of their partnership.
As they delved deeper into the web of deceit and betrayal, (Y/N) found herself growing even more reliant on Geralt's expertise in dealing with curses and the supernatural. She witnessed his calm and analytical approach to each challenge, and it only deepened her respect for him.
Their journey through Posada was not only a test of their combat abilities but also a test of their moral compass. As they unearthed the dark secrets of the town, they found themselves making difficult choices and confronting the consequences of past actions.
In the end, it was their unwavering commitment to justice and the strength of their partnership that allowed them to lift the curse and release the vengeful spirit from its torment.
As they stood together in the town's square, the townsfolk who had once regarded them with fear and suspicion now looked upon them with gratitude and relief. The air was filled with a sense of hope and healing, and the Witcher and the hunter had once again made a difference in the world they traversed.
With the curse lifted, Posada was free from the shadow of darkness that had plagued it for so long. The townspeople hailed Geralt and (Y/N) as heroes, and the Witcher's medallion around her neck felt like a token of their shared victories.
Their journey continued, and the town of Posada served as a reminder of the complexities and dangers of the path they had chosen. As they rode away from the grateful town, (Y/N) felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination. The hunter and the Witcher were bound by more than fate; they were bound by their unbreakable bond, their shared sense of duty, and the enduring valor that drove them to face the monsters, the darkness, and the unknown together.

ok so I’m editing yet another merlin fanvid wip and currently collecting what scenes I may or may not use, so I’m already analysing media even more like a puzzle piece. maybe I’m reading too much into this! but I’m currently going somewhat feral over this train of thought
when Morgana introduces the fomorroh in a servant of two masters she coos and says “he’s a little grumpy. He’s not used to being out in the light.” and the camera is focused on Merlin.
Tumblr media
and wow my brain zeroed in on that double meaning.
Merlin, who hides half of himself in the shadows for fear of what secrets the light might shed, and what consequences it might wrought. Merlin, who gets rather grumpy and snarky when backed into a corner with the only escape a spotlight (until he fights his way out).
That’s not the only double meaning I connected. Further on in the scene, Morgana continues her little monologue about the fomorroh; it is a creature of dark magic. even if you cut off one head, another will grow in its place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and once again the camera focuses on Merlin directly after she says this. I know that obviously this is just to show Merlin’s naturally horrified reaction, and dread, because he’s putting together that whatever Morgana’s about to do to him, it’s not easily solved with the swing of a sword. But the camera focus just enables my love of double meanings.
Because Merlin is both mortal and immortal. You can try to kill him. And maybe you will succeed. Maybe you’ll chop off his metaphorical head and think you’ve triumphed. But he lives, he wakes, and he does not die. Merlin is dragged back to life, growing in the place of his old self.
Head after head after head. Life after life after life. Year after year after year.
And secondly, while this isn’t a double meaning, it’s got me thinking. Morgana called the fomorroh a creature of dark magic. and dark magic is called dark for good reason, from the examples we have gotten in the show - both the ones mentioned and seen, as part of the plot - but dark magic is still magic, isn’t it.
And Merlin is magic.
Merlin is all magic.
And as Merlin said, there is no evil in sorcery, only in the hearts of men. Dark magic is dark because of how it was abused by those who wielded it unchecked, by those with dark motives and actions. I have no idea if the fomorroh was created by those who practiced dark magic, if it manifested on its own from the use of dark magic, or if it existed neutrally like any other magical creature before it was either appropriated or trained or manipulated by those with dark magic, until it became associated with it. I’ve no idea.
Merlin and the fomorroh are both creatures of magic, dark or not. Both manipulated and used to manipulate. Both forced into the shadows and both toeing the line between mortality and immortality.

Does the Flame Envy the Moth?
Finrod & Easterling OMC
Platonic Pairing
Tumblr media
“And here I thought that the Elven folk were monogamous.” The King of Nargothrond sat with a perfect posture.
While to most he may seem unfazed, his thoughts were in turmoil. One may come to ask why the eldest son of Finarfin was sharing the same space with a prostitute. A male prostitute of Haradrim at that. How had the two most unlikely people on Arda ended up in the same room?
“You had the correct assumption. My people marry only once in our long life.” The lazy reclining figure of Raza shifted, resting lightly on his side. The elf ignored what could be seen as an alluring gaze as he continued speaking “I came here for the sake of my curiosity.”
Stretching his limbs like a cat in the warm winter sun Raza snorted at the royal “Aaah yes, my lord” he shifted his weight to his dangling leg pushing himself to sit straight once more “I have quite an experience in such matters ask what you like. This lowly one will try his best to please you.” He winked at the flustered elf.
For a moment both of them sat in silence as Raza idly twirled a wayward loose strand from his braid.
Finrod awkwardly cleared his throat. A distant part of him regretted coming to the brothel. It was no place for the likes of him. However, the questions burned too bright in his fea he needed answers desperately.
“Why sell your body when you’re perfectly capable of surviving with other means?” Felagund’s gaze was transfixed on inked tattoos that lingered on several visible spots on the Easterling’s body.
Adjusting several rings that sat on his fingers Raza thought about the answer. “Oh my King, the East does not follow the ways of the West.” He crossed his arms, drumming the prominent muscles of his bicep. “It is not kind to anyone. There are soldiers who fight the dark forces only to lose to them at the end of the day”
Raza pulled at the flimsy clothing that barely held on his shoulder. “There are farmers who mourn the loss of their crops to Morgoth’s sorcery. Their lives matter little to anyone.” Finrod flinched at the direct mention of the dark lord’s name.
Uncaring of his reaction the human continued. “And lastly King Felagund, are men like me” he stepped up from his seat. The knee-length black hair of the color of the night followed his back like a second shadow. He faced the seated elf directly while looking directly into bright gray eyes.
He smiled at the light blush that adorned the face of the elf in his room. “Men like me who are born slaves to either the dark lords of Angband or our very own people.”
Effortlessly lifting the sleeve of his gown Raza pointed at the decorative markings on his arm. “This is my inheritance from my ancestors, my King.”
Without a second thought, Finrod’s hand landed on the obscure drawings. He felt the warmth of blood that ran deep in the veins below the man’s skin. “Did it … was it done at birth?”
Raza didn’t move. He still faced the elf “I don’t remember anymore.” He cursed himself in his mind but he couldn’t stop the words forming on his tongue. “The Mistress told me that I had been dropped off by a merchant. My parents, probably busy tending to barren lands that bore nothing but more debt.”
“How old are you?” Finrod felt a foreign sadness in his heart. His people were guided by the Valar themselves, the Men of the West had been found by him but the East … the East had been forgotten. Left in the dark of evil to fend for itself.
The pity in Finrod’s eyes didn’t go unnoticed by Raza. It irked him. Yet he maintained the mask of nonchalance. He would not give even the King of faraway Elves the satisfaction of knowing his mind. “Exact age is unknown but I am somewhere close to my Twentieth summer.”
The man who spoke so casually of his enslavement would be a mere child to his people. How had they left their own distant kin in such a state? Finrod’s heart mourned for the hardships endured by the youth who now unblinkingly stared back at him in a challenge.
Moving away from the seated King Raza headed towards his dresser. “I reckon my appearance matters little to you, my King. I hope you don’t mind me taking off some of these embellishments, as some would say.”
Finrod shook his head and the Easterling lifted his feet to the dresser. With the ease of daily practice, he took off delicate anklets that rested on the ends of his legs.
Putting away the tinkling anklets Raza stared at the elf from his mirror as he worked on taking off hairpins. The Elven king fiddled with his fingers as he asked his next question, “Do you not wish for love? Does this not hurt you? Would you not like to be loved for more than just your body?”
Fearing judgment in the eyes of the other man in the room Finrod refused to make any eye contact. If the Eldar could sweat the room would be flooded right now.
Brushing his hair Raza pondered about the question. Did love matter to him? Appreciation for his body seemed sufficient on most days. At least this way he was of some value to someone. But what should he tell the elf who sat knocked like an arrow in the most uncomfortable chair in the room?
None had cared enough about East. It wasn’t difficult to discern guilt in the eyes of the elf. Somehow he had managed to blame himself for the entire East.
As if making a choice Raza slammed his comb on the dresser. He carefully pushed his hair to the side and he faced the startled elf. “Love to Men and Elves is a different thing, my lord. While your kind spends decades nurturing these feelings. We men come to this with barely enough time to know ourselves completely.” He paused to let the elven king speak.
He continued when Finrod remained silent “ It is like mining for a diamond in a mine of coal. While someone lucky might find their soulmate, truest of love, on the first try. The rest of us stumble in the dark, and heat. Some might die with a piece of coal clutched and others die cut by their mined diamond.”
The Elven king had long forgotten his notebook. Noticing the engrossed expression Raza continued “The coal might dirty hands and face but a diamond can’t burn itself to warm others.”
Finrod’s eyebrows were scrunched in confusion. He had forgotten all about his confusion. “Pfft.”Raza chuckled at his expression. Maybe the Westerners did not have a talent for metaphors after all.
“What I want to say is that even though I might never find that one truest of love I am still pretty content.” He motioned at the lavish room and pilling jewelry. “These are good enough for me my king. I do not think that love can feed stomachs or provide comfort. In fact, love stories of my people never end with a happy ending.”
Finrod hmmed deep in thought.
“Here you can take the bed, my king.” Setting up the sheets Raza gestured to the king. Standing up instantly Finrod shook his head “Quendi, my people don’t need sleep.” He frantically gestured at Raza.
Shaking his head the Easterling sat down on the chaise right next to the bed. “Fear not my lord I’ll lay here. The laws of my hospitality do not allow any discomfort to my guest.” With this, he plopped himself down on the chaise.
Staring helplessly at the empty bed Finrod sighed and started taking off his shoes. What would Amarie think of him? This bed probably-
“Worry not I do not use my personal rooms for work,” Raza said as he supported his head on his arm.
The Easterling saw the poised elven king panic and turn to explain his intentions back to him.
“Come on my lord! It’s my turn to ask questions. Hurry up.” Interrupting the Elven king’s thoughts Raza felt a sense of accomplishment when Finrod made himself comfortable on the bed.
That night Varda’s stars whispered the tale of the king of Nargothrond and a Haradrim. Maybe they sang a lament of lost kin or just a lullaby to soothe the anxious souls of the children of Illuvatar.

Merlin
ngl i totally forgot about that post and almost answered this with just "Merlin." but caught myself right before I hit post😭
sexuality hc: I hc merlin as acespec and gay right now<33
otp: Merthur. Always Merthur.
brotp: Merwaine. They're just besties🥰
notp: Mergana. I get the hype ig, but just a no for me. It's a jumpscare every time.
first hc that pops into my head: ngl I'm not a big hc person, but the first one I thought of was that Merlin wears a magical, invisible helmet at all times. Have you seen the show?? Getting blasted against the wall = death except for when it comes to Merlin? He gets magically thrown against the wall several times and he has no reason to think he's immortal. It only makes sense that he wears a little helmet to ward off death<33
favorite quote: "There is no evil in sorcery, only in the hearts of men. My request is that you remember this."
one way I relate to them: This man will not take any shit from nobody and honestly same. I have absolutely zero self-control and will go off on anyone who so much as glares at me, a friend of mine, or any random person I deem deserving of my protection.
something about them that gives me second hand embarrassment: The same thing that I listed above, tbh. He's constantly ready to throw hands even if that person could send him flying to another hemisphere with their pinky finger. Like those two scenes where he's fighting Arthur in the first episode? The "I could take you apart with less than that"? I cringe every time I'm sorry💀💀
cinnamon roll or problematic fav? Just look at him. Take one, single, short look at him. Look at that smile. Cinnamon roll, obviously. (He's a cinnamon roll that could totally kill you, but cinnamon roll all the same.)
