First Half of Miraculous Season 2 Done. Here's my thoughts:

The Collector: A pretty good start! They made the teens smart while still being dumb teens!

Despair Bear: Chloe needs a therapist, arguably moreso than a redemption arc and especially a downward villainous spiral. Also Dangit Grandpa

Prime Queen: Wow, this was a lot more chill than expected. Even Cat Noir was left aghast at what Nadja was doing, Nadja seemed to be pressuring Ladybug and Cat Noir more for views than anything else, and I'm not entirely sure Akuma personalities can be trusted.

Befana: Fun fact: This was the episode that got me into Miraculous in the first place because of how shocking it was. And then I discovered even more. In hindsight from watching the other episodes, it was relatively darker, but mostly because it's Marinette's friends and family that are getting G-rated killed instead of random civilians like every other episode.

Riposte: Kagami is here! I don't see too much chemistry with her and Adrien yet, but she's cool and I like her and feel like I could be friends in real life. Also this feels like a relatively uncommon trope, but I wish "X is blatantly a woman but no one notices" was spedran through by someone with brains.

Robustus: Pretty good, all things considered. From what I've heard about Miraculous lore, creating sapient or at the very least semi-sapient AI isn't that uncommon for weirdness hotspots, and I'm putting Max in the list of characters I think should have figured out Ladybug and Cat Noir's identity. (There's four now!)

Gigantitan: It turns out my favorite parts of Miraculous are the slice-of-life bits instead of the superhero bits the show is about! We got to see more of Marinette's friends! Alix! Mylene! Julie! The Eeby Deeby herself! Also it was really sweet to see Adrien's bodyguard calm down just by looking at the kid. Adrien's true daddy.

Dark Owl: No wonder these two aren't allowed to know eachothers' identities, considering how much of a loose tongue Marinette has!

Glaciator: Alright, it's finally time to talk about the sins of Marinette and Cat Noir, considering the fan content I osmosed before watching the series was heavy salt stuff, and I wanna see how much it holds up. So far Cat Noir has acted as if he's already dating Ladybug previously, and in this episode he got mad at Ladybug for not showing up at a date when she herself said she might not come due to having other plans. Isn't he supposed to be used to not-showing-up disappointment as Adrien due to his dad? Is it different because he's Cat Noir? Is this a breaking point? No matter, he eventually calms down and is ultimately the less bad member of the relationship. Marinette, meanwhile, doesn't have as many misdemeanors to her name but they're a lot worse. She stole Adrien's phone to get rid of an embarrassing message and got away with it too, what the hell, and also owns the schedule. Although I don't believe she stalked Adrien and made it herself due to how busy she is as both Marinette and Ladybug, that's just weird and wrong. I'm reluctant to call her a stalker, but her actions are still wrong. Ultimately, this relationship is going to need a lot of therapy and counseling to not crash and burn. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah. The ice cream episode. I think the ice cream guy can be wrong and he doesn't understand that.

Sapotis: Silly little fun episode, also it introduces the first new Miraculous holder! I'm honestly fine with it so far if it means more screentime for side characters. I honestly really like seeing Marinette's classmates. They're neat. Also I was this close to putting Alya on the list but she proves time and time again that she doesn't actually know Ladybug's identity.

Gorizilla: In this episode we are introduced to Adrien's deranged parasocial fanbase. I'm starting to understand some of his father's decisions at this point. This is what I was talking about with the schedule, by the way. These obsessive stalker creeps make Marinette look reasonable, and I wouldn't be surprised if the one guy who I'm pretty sure becomes Party Crasher discreetly stalked Adrien to get his schedule. Restraining orders need to be filed.

Captain Hardrock: One of the funniest episodes, up there with Dark Cupid. Also Luka is here! And he already has great chemistry with Marinette! And more Rosie and Julie content even if it's crumbs!

Your hands mess with the fabric of your pants as you sit in the chair. The bouncing of your leg isn’t easing your anxiety as you wait for your name to be called.

“Uh…” A woman with a clipboard exits and reads out your name. “(Y/n) (L/n)?”

You stand and follow her into her small office. It’s adorned with children’s books, toys, diagrams about mental health and her several degrees hanging behind her. The room is slightly dimmed and warm, with a subtle scent of vanilla.

“This is our first session together. I understand that it can be very nerve wracking.” She says while looking to your bouncing leg. “But I assure you, there’s nothing to be afraid of here. You can talk about whatever you want or not talk at all. It’s all up to you.”

You nod your head and watch as she writes something down on her clipboard. “What’s that for?” You ask pointing to her clipboard.

“This is how I log all my sessions with my patients. It’s all purely confidential and I won’t share this with anyone. Unless it’s putting your health at risk of course.” She replies.

You sit in silence for a bit before she speaks up. “Do you mind if I ask you a question? You don’t have to answer if you’re not comfortable.”

“Go ahead.”

She nods and proceeds with her question. “Why is it that you wanted to seek therapy? What brought you here today?”

“I’ve got a lot going on in my life and it’s kind of…stressing me out. I don’t really have any one I can turn to for help. So…I thought maybe therapy could help.” You admit while breathing out softly.

You hear her pen scratch against the paper before she speaks again. “What exactly is going on in your life that’s causing this distress?”

“A friend of mine...We got into an argument. I said some awful things I wish I could take back and I hurt him…” Your eyes are glued to the floor, but when you look up you see her nod.

“What started the argument?” She asks, continuing writing something down.

“He kept this huge secret from me. Which normally I wouldn’t mind but, he prides himself on hating secrets. But when I think about it…it wasn’t that big of a deal…” You muttered out as you rub your arm.

She hums while nodding. “And do you like this guy?” You perk your head and think for a second.

“We’ve been friends for a long time. I stopped talking to him for a bit and we recently reconnected. And I’m pretty sure he wanted to be more than…friends.” You say before swallowing the lump in your throat.

“And how did that make you feel?” She asks looking up from her clipboard.

“Um…I don’t know? I didn’t mind, he’s a nice guy…” You mumbled while gripping your knees.

She sighs before putting her clipboard down. “Alright. I’m gonna give you some resources so you can better understand your emotions and how you feel. For our next session I want you to tell me what you learned about yourself. Can you do that?”

“Yeah I can do that…”

That night you went online and filled out several questionnaires before sighing. “This is…ridiculous.”

The next therapy session was much more productive as you were able to unpack more of your issues. For the next couple days you drafted an apology. Something quick and to the point that’ll get your message across.

You transform and sit atop a random apartment before pinging Cat Noir. Adrien looks at his glowing ring, he transforms and looks at the location that’s been marked. Once he’s there he looks around nervously.

“You actually came…” You smiled.

“I thought it was important?” He sighs and starts to extend his weapon before you stop him.

“I wanted to apologize. Please, just give a moment of your time. That’s all I ask.” You plead while looking into his eyes.

“Fine.” He sighs before sitting down beside you.

“I’m sorry for being an asshole…it wasn’t cool at all. I understand now why what I said hurt you and I don’t want you to feel like that around me any more. I shouldn’t have hurt you, but I did.” You look over to him. He’s quiet for some time.

“Thank you…I forgive you but I’m still gonna need some time away from you…I have a lot to think about…” He stands and turns to you with a weak smile. “I’ll…see you around.”

“Take your time, I’ll wait for when you’re ready.” You reply. He smiles and nods before leaving.

‘I’m forgiven…but that doesn’t mean he’ll even want to be around me any more…And that’s okay. As long as we know that we’re okay now…’ You ponder while looking into the night sky with a determined smile.

The weeks after are looking up after all. Adrien is more outgoing than usual and when he’s Cat Noir he’s more determined than ever. Yet he still hasn’t reached out to you personally, but you understand and respect his feelings.

I found myself back in therapy this time in a better spot. I sniff the subtle vanilla and smile while crossing one of my legs over the other. My therapist looks to me with a polite smile as she places her clipboard down. “You’ve made a lot of progress since our first session. I’m proud of you for putting in the work and taking initiative.” She says while adjusting her jacket. “So, what brings you in today?”

“Well at this point you’re pretty much caught up on everything that’s going on in my life. I came here today to thank you, for listening and helping me.” I stand and nod my head to her.

“But you still have an hour? All you came to say was ‘thank you’?” She asks quickly standing.

“Yep. That’s it. But don’t worry, I’ll be back to update you. But in the meantime, just accept my thanks.” I wave before leaving. She sinks in her seat and smiles to herself.

I take a stroll into Paris, taking in every view there is. The pigeons chirping, the cerulean sky, the barks and meows, the Parisians going about they’re every day and my phone buzzing. I look down and pull it from my pocket and see a text.

Adrien: Hey, meet me at my place tonight.

You re-read the message several times before typing a simple: “Okay.” Sure it was basic but it gets the point across. You pocket your phone and go about the rest of your day in peace. As nighttime approaches you feel anxiety slowly seep into every pore of your body. In an attempt to calm your nerves you begin pacing around your room, which only makes it worse.

‘I just need to go on a walk…maybe that will calm my nerves?’ You wonder as you run outside and take a walk. Your chest rises and falls quickly as you breathe through your nostrils. Eventually you remind yourself to take deep, slow breaths and calm down. Once calmed down you make your way to Adrien’s and text him. The gates open and you walk inside to see Adrien at the top of his stairs.

“Up here.” He states with a tiny smile before turning and walking up to his room. You follow behind and enter slowly while looking for him. He exits his bathroom and waves you over. You enter the bathroom and look around with confusion.

“Um…what exactly are we doing in your bathroom?” You ask while chuckling. Adrien just pats the spot beside him on the floor.

“I just need to make some peace with myself…and with you as well.” He says, looking up at you with a sullen expression.

You sit down and bring your knees close to you as you hug them and watch Adrien. All that can be heard are his soft breaths. He turns to you and makes direct eye contact.

“Before I said I couldn’t look you in the eyes and say I forgive you. And I know I’ve said it before but I just wanna make sure you understand. I genuinely forgive you.” He whispers. You grab his hand in yours and shake your head.

“You don’t owe me anything. I do.” You whispered while pushing some of his hair behind his ear. He glances down at his wrist and begins touching it. “Our friendship bracelets…I’m not sure if you still have yours but I…kinda destroyed mine.” He whispered. His eyes look up at you and he smiles nervously.

You touch his wrist and rub it gently. “That’s okay, we’ll make new ones.” You both smile as your eyes meet. His eyes trail down to your lips as he slowly leans in. You lean in but before your lips touch both your miraculous begin blinking.

“Guess we’ve gotta transform…” You murmured as you slowly stand. Adrien nods quickly before you both transform.

Soon you’re both with Ladybug. “Alright now that you’re both here I need you two to distract.” She states as she motions to the akumatized victim. Cat Noir nods and grabs your arm.

“Follow my lead, mon amour.” He whispers while winking.

You roll your eyes. “As long as you promise me no more cat puns.” You said as you run by his side.

He pretends to act offended and clutches his chest. “You’re kitten me right?”

A groan erupts from your throat as you stare at him. “Let’s just get this over with already.”

When you land, Cat Noir extends his hand. “May I have this dance?” He asks while grabbing your hand and planting a gentle kiss upon the back of your hand.

You nod. “With pleasure, kitten.” He throws you in the air, you quickly dart into the enemy and after landing the first hit you bounce back. You grab Cat’s hands and begin dancing while occasionally swatting at the monster with kicks. He leans down into you as you lift your feet in the air. “Ready for the finisher?” He whispers.

“Let’s do it.” You whispered back while grinning. As you twirl you guide your hands down to his waist as you wind up for a throw.

You spin into a throw as you launch him towards the monster. “Cataclysm!” He shouts as he reaches his arm out. He flew past and destroyed a large advertisement that collapsed onto the monster, immobilizing it in the process.

Ladybug snaps the akumatized object before capturing and releasing the butterfly. Afterwards she fixes everything with her ladybugs and turns to you two.

“Did I miss something?” She questions while pointing to your hands. You glance down and chuckle as you noticed your hands intertwined.

Cat Noir blinks and averts his eyes to the side. “Not at all M’Ladybug…”

Her eyes rest on the both of you as she sighs. “Well, I’m glad you both are okay now. Just as long as this doesn’t make either of you prey for Shadow Moth.”

You’re quick to shake your head. “No, he’d be a fool to try and come for one of us.” Suddenly everyone’s miraculous begin beeping. “Looks like we’ve gotta go. Great job as always Ladybug!” You praised before leaping away.

Ladybug nods and swings away as you and Cat Noir head back to his house. After de-transforming you sigh as you sit on the ground while feeding your kwami.

“Where’d you learn to dance like that?” Adrien asks as he feeds Plagg.

“We had to do an elective and I chose dance since it seemed fun. Trust me, not as easy as it seems. I can already feel my body cramping.” You giggle while rubbing the back of your neck. Adrien laughs with you and takes a seat next to you. He nuzzled himself into your neck while planting kisses along your skin. Then he pulls away and looks into your eyes.

“I know this probably isn’t the best time to ask, but…” He doesn’t hold eye contact for long as he looks down. “Why were you mad at me?” He mutters.

“I…I was frustrated at first that you kept such a big secret from me. Obviously I was too but I didn’t see it that way at first. Then I realized that I didn’t know you. I knew Cat Noir and you as if you both were separate people but to then suddenly merge the two together…It made me wonder about myself.” You mumbled as you stared at the ceiling.

“…” He nodded slowly before shrugging. “I didn’t put that much thought into it. Hero or not, you’re still you. And…I’d love you regardless.” He smiles softly as he rubs his thumb across your cheek.

You cheeks tint a soft rose as you cough awkwardly and avert your gaze. “…You’re so cheesy…you know that?”

A small chuckle escapes him as he nods. “So I’ve been told.”

Okay it’s done, thanks for being patient. Honestly I wish I had an excuse as to why I was gone for almost half of the year. I suppose mental health could be one? But I feel like that would sound so cheap. (Cheap coming from me specifically, not coming for anyone else😭) Anyway, hope you enjoyed! I’m not gonna promise anything soon but I do have some drafts and ideas for stuff in the future.

ORIGIN STORIES: i've been asked a few times recently where the ideas for my characters came from, so i thought it'd compile a list.

burns, harris, juniper, burns, lila came about when i was in the third grade, reading maximum ride, enjoying x-m.en: fir.st clas.s and knew a kid named burns and thought, what if a kid named burns could control fire? i ended up writing spirit on a forum (following similar line of thought as the burns naming convention) and needed a reason for her to be alone, so i kind of built harris's personality around the need for spirit to be abandoned, and the other personalities came after that.

alex haven came about because [we @bluedprints already had theo] ezra haven said, and i quote, 'wanna get you fucking pregnant again' whilst having sex with spirit haven after their first couple's therapy session following ezra's unfaithfulness.

davy actually came about before second gen was a thing. i wanted to give juni a baby and wouldn't it just be crazy if @jupiter3's flynn was the father? then phoebe came about as we just kept adding to second gen and realized that juni/sam/flynn would have also had juni/sam kids

beck came about because i wanted more labkids one day because i was bored. @bluedprints and dax basically created the narrative of labkids with a vendetta against harris harris. tonje, dana, charlotte, river, and noel's ocs came first, then i made beck bc i felt left out

shipley (now written by @corsey) was the villain in the first spirit novel i tried to write. i knew he came from a cult, and i knew he also needed to be from a cult that no longer existed and that he was delusionally trying to continue doing the work of, so i came up with mackenzie, cass, and jm (the last of which now written by @jupiter3) to destroy the cult. i was ~losing my religion~ at the time so obviously i had to be edgy and say something about baptism and evangelical christianity as well. i ended up with elijah/shipley/mack as one triad and the throuple as another because trinities.

rachel is another product of the second gen baby boom.

rose was one of my first ocs affiliated with @bluedprints henry. we wanted siblings, we wanted sharp emotional contrast, we ended up sticking them in knight based on an idea tonje had about cult siblings that she fleshed out and invited me into

naomi is a product of the baby boom and also, doesn't rose with two beautiful baby girls and a loving husband just make sense for her arc?

graham is a product of the baby boom because @bluedprints' henry needs just one nice thing: his beautiful boys who were damaged and lost before henry.

kieran and cain came about as characters in the second version of spirit's novel. i needed a cult leader and i needed a right hand man. and then they just blossomed from there!

gabriela came about because i always knew comphet compelled cain to have sex with women during orgies in glass and second gen had a bit of a baby boom.

cullen came about because we needed some villains in second gen. naturally i made him kieran's son and the guy from you. instead, we have wife guy cullen glass (who also kills ezra haven)

alessandra came about to be an affiliated oc with @midcenturies' belén, daughter of the remarkable beatríz.

maryanne came about as an affiliated oc with @midcenturies @jupiter3 @corsey after we watched h.ustlers and wanted to engage with themes like femininity, feminism, sexuality, sexism, sex work, dubious ethics and morality, and modern survival.

adrien, kai-ming, kennedy, noah, esther, rian, jeremy, rian, and hassan were created for @bluedprints' archetype. i wanted to explore some of the same themes of surrealism and horror and obsessive artistry. i started to develop different ideas for artists/creators, their struggles, and their role in our plot.

olivia came about because of a plot i'm doing with @gildedlife coming up shortly that i'm super excited about!

hanna, veronica, and bianca came about bc @bluedprints and i wanted to give cassius and ezra some new york friends to have sloppy sex with on a regular basis. bianca specifically came about to be one of the many mothers to edwin's many children

mercutio came about bc tonje held a gun to my head and made me.

felicity came about because tonje and i put cassius through the ringer and he needed a respite. he needed the love of a good woman.

amelia came about bc i wanted felicity to have a daughter to raise with cassius :) and being a single mother before cassius made sense for her character development.

joe was created in a rp group because a) needed older skewing chars b) needed less grimy service industry rats in bands c) needed a normal guy on account of there being a werewolf waffle house

isla came about because we wanted a) california ocs for theo to interact with when they went to ucla and b) i wanted affiliated band ocs for a band called burger kink. isaac and clara followed, the former bc i wanted to give theo a sugar daddy, the latter bc i needed more evil women on my roster

elizabeth "busy" is @jupiter3's creation!

samuel came about because busy is edwin miles' (@bluedprints) oopsie daisy. aka he got her pregnant then fumbled her. yes.

rhea came about because i was watching real housewives and started thinking about people in the tourism industry having to deal with obnoxious rich people. i was further inspired by the flor.ida proje.ct

weston came about in an rp group created by @jupiter3 and others who aren't active on tumblr rn. basically they gave me a template for a final/slasher survivor and he just came about from that.

louis was an idea i had admittedly based heavily heavily heavily on an old ex who worked in restaurants with me and was putting off leaving our college town to pursue his masters.

maxwell is a product of the baby boom after we came up with the houlou ship @jupiter3

Miraculous x Atla because I want to

Marinette is absolutely Aang, adhd, absolutely whipped and crushing legacy to fulfill, also chats with past incarnations of their powers

Adrien is Zuko bc awkward and daddy issues but also badass and couldn’t plan something out to save his life

Alya is Katara, because fierce and protective but also goes into mom mode sometimes and got fooled by someone who wanted to hurt people

Nino is Sokka, smart, resourceful and protective of his people

Rose is Ty Lee, cheery and cute but also absolutely terrifying

Juleka is Mai bc girlfriends, but also stoic girl who doesn’t even flinch at weird stuff happening

Luka is Iroh, the one who Knows Stuff and who people should listen to more

Kagami is Suki, badass fierce warrior lady who loves her schemy boyfriend

Nathaniel is Haru and Marc is Teo, they just are

Alix is Toph because chaos gremlins

Lila/Cerise/I don’t even know anymore is Azula bc antagonist girl who needs therapy

If Marinette was a guy, let me tell you what would've happened. People would go WILD for a sensitive, artistic and cute boy who's lovesick and a big romantic. Him having Adrien's photos would never be a big deal bc from a long time, fandom is apologetic and too forgiving of a male characters action. He wouldn't be called a stalker, he would be called protective and so possessive and cute. I've seen ppl defend a guy who drugs the mc and sexually assaulted her. Trust me, this won't be a problem.

I know! Literally the only male main characters who get crap for their behaviour are Danny Zuko from Grease, Noah from Notebook, Howard Volovitz from Bug Bang Theory (who btw had character development unlike Raj who ACTUALLY deserves hate but doesn't get it) and Ross Geller from Friends. Everyone else is totally fine.

I know the praise for being "good fathers" Homer Simpson from Simpsons and Richard Waterson from The Amazing World Of Gumball get when they are both sh*tty fathers and sh*tty husbands.

Homer always whines about how much he hates his life and his own family and his job and literally all his friends tell him they would die for a life like that but he doesn't appreciate it. Every time Marge told him to do something useful for their household he doesn't want to do it and she has to. For a while I loved him because he's hands down the funniest character in the show until he found out Marge is going to see a therapist every week from how unhappy she is with her life, instead of talking about that to her and trying to make their marriage better, he chose not to tell her anything because he thinks the therapy is enough, he didn't even feel sorry for her because after therapy she's always cooking good meals and is in mood for s*x so it works for him. Every time he ruined something she made he gets rewarded in the end of the episode, and she and their kids always forgive him. He literally doesn't even care about Maggie, always makes Lisa's life harder, and HE LITERALLY CHOKES BART AND PEOPLE SEE THAT AS FUNNY AND NO ONE EVER CALLED IT OUT! Bart literally has trauma from that, it was established in the show and the movie. You know who is hated in that show? Lisa. Lisa, who is one of the sweetest characters and one of my favourite characters I relate so much to, is hated because of her religion, Homer is loved for being a jerk.

Richard Waterson is so bad my own grandma hated him! He does literally nothing around the house and kids, Nicole has to work and take care of three freakin children AND the household but he can get away with everything and people even see him as a good guy who "tries his best" because he spends all day in bed eating junk food.

Peter Griffin and Quagmire from Family Guy are also horrible characters. Peter is a bad father who hates his daughter and Quagmire is a LITERAL r*pist and people not only love Peter but also laugh at Quagmire's r*pe jokes and scenes where they hinted that he r*ped someone.

Patrick Star from Spongebob Squarepants is so bad that I was a kid and I already hated him. He's treating Spongebob like cr*p and uses him and Spongebob always has to apologise cuz HOW DARE HE BE MAD AT HIS BEST FRIEND WHO'S ALSO THE WORST FRIEND YOU COULD EVER HAVE and Patrick is so popular he even got a spin-off show.

Aaron Samuels from Mean Girls was the biggest hypocrite ever and no one hates him, everyone hates the main female character who was also a hypocrite but you know how it goes - she learned her lesson, she became a better person, and he got rewarded even though he's still a jerk and he doesn't even realize he's a jerk.

I already wrote about My Best Friend's Wedding and Made of Honor being two movies with the same plot but MBFW has a female lead and MoH has male lead and the female lead also suffered the consequences and learned her lesson and she lost and EVERYONE EVERYWHERE hates her, you won't see anyone on the Internet who loves her, but no one hates him who won by doing something terrible, never learned his lesson and never faced the consequences. She can't be with a guy she loves but he can be with a girl he loves and she is terrible he's not, he's a hero.

In that movie Emma the main character who's wonderful ended up with a guy who was is always criticising her and yelling at her and I don't see people complaining about that.

Gumball in The Amazing World Of Gumball is a really bad kid. He's selfish and mean for no reason and no one hates him and he doesn't get character development but you know what? I'm glad no one hates him cuz he's just a kid - and so is Marinette. Gumball is actually the most accurate representation of a kid his age. But he doesn't receive criticism for stuff Marinette receives criticism all the time, even when doing something bad wasn't in her intentions. Maxim Lavrov from The Kitchen is literally THE WORST main character I've ever seen in my life and I watched so much stuff. He is constantly stalking Victoria, his on-off girlfriend, literally 70% of times they had s*x that was because he literally forced her to do it even when she told him to let her go and that is seen as hot but actually that's r*pe, he stole her documents so she can't travel with other guy when they broke up, he poked holes on her tires to prevent her from leaving with someone else, he stole her medical records in hospital when she was pregnant to see if the baby was his, he spread rumours that she is dating their boss who's married and that she would date anyone who can buy her stuff, he fought his rival out of jealousy, he cheated on her twice with the same woman, he didn't want to do anything around their apartment and she had to everything herself when they got married, he didn't like her for being "too perfect", he dated the girl he cheated with the first time he broke up with Victoria and when karma did it's work and he got cheated on he pursued Victoria immediately as if he would actually date her again if he didn't break up with this girl and when Victoria didn't want to date him he blamed her for their relationship failing and he called her a gold digger, he always grabbed her by her hand forcefully and he was really rough with her when she didn't want to talk even when she was pregnant, he followed her everywhere ALL THE TIME and spied on her. I think only my mom and I can't stand him. Everyone else loves him on the fan page and everyone who's seen the show. They love him. The only consequence he suffered was when she broke up with him both times when he cheated but even in the end of the show they didn't get together but they were in good terms and they worked at the same place and he was allowed to take care of their daughter with her and he got a promotion too. Without even trying.

Shrek literally signed a contract to get rid of his family and I feel like I'm the only one who hated him in that movie, no one complains about that character downgrade cuz like how tf do you disown everyone you love and still get a reward in the end?!

Raymond, Robert and Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond are treating their wives horribly, no one said anything about them. They are all horrible, you don't know which one is worse. In fact, ELR makes abuse Debra, Raymond's wife, has to suffer from his family funny.

Fallon and Adam from Dynasty - Fallon always works on being a better person even when she breaks a vase while Adam kills people and all is forgiven

I'm sure there are a lot more other examples and these are just a few, but female characters ALWAYS suffer the consequences in stuff I watched. I don't remember ever seeing a female character cheating her partner and getting away with it, a male character is always forgiven for cheating after the female character is really hurt, she always forgives him and they are a happy couple. And don't tell me about rom com jerks who get the girl every time for treating her terribly. Also women in rom coms are shallow if they choose a hot tall bf but male characters can choose women who look like literal supermodels and that's totally not shallow. I just hate these stereotypes. "If male character did it they would get cancelled" I literally grew up watching male characters who never changed and those toxic ones ended up as a pop culture icons. It's a rare case when a male character's behaviour is called out.

Bish I literally had to watch people draw Chat Noir punching Ladybug and people saying he should do it in the comments and him getting praised when he yelled at her and that's totally fair from our fandom? That's not gender equality, that's misogyny.

Ok, fuck it, listen here's unpopular opinion on Marinette X Adrien. They should NOT be together and here's why:

Ok so I'm missing some episodes from the past and some future ones but that episode where they lost their memories, learned their identities and then forgot again? That's the shit

So listen, first of all they shouldn't be together because they NEED and I cannot stress this enough, need to work on their issues before they are ready for a relationship.

Adrien,

my sweet summer child, this boy was deprived of genuine care and kindness so now he dives in for any crumbs of it he can find, and that's what makes him a people's pleaser. He cannot say when things make him uncomfortable and people exploit it. He never get things that he wants like seeing that movie of his mother because in the end he's like ye those people destroyed this opportunity, invaded my personal space, basically HUNTED me down but I can't be rude so like I'll give my email address to the biggest most toxic stalker ever. BABY NO.

So when Marinette is *flirting* or whatever the fuck, either he can't tell and thinks she's just weird or nice or he just allows this because he cannot say no. Literally this boy cannot say no and it's fucked up, man. The way people toy with him like Chloe is straight up toxic (again I know they are 14) but she had so many redemption opportunities and she decided to keep being like this, and then Kagami or what's her face, who if I remember correctly almost forced him into a relationship because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. This isn't healthy, someone get him to therapy. And like I know they all are like 14 but for fucks sake noone is saying anything they are just like: "oh, he's sucha nice and kind person" yeah, it's the fucking isolation and trauma, thanks. Not to mention ISOLATION. Gabriel is straight up abusive mf someone call child protection services.

And lastly, this is very minor but worth mentioning. It's true that Chat Noir backed down when Ladybug told him she loves someone else. (There was a little jealousy arc but it lasted whole 15 seconds and was done for). But did he really? I mean as an audience we know that they are Adrien and Marinette so it doesn't make much difference to us, it's all a long and suffering misunderstanding but they don't know that. And he keeps flirting with her. He did from the very beginning, he doesn't do anything else though but every now and then he does mention how he loves her.

Now, I don't know about other people or Marinette but if I were her it would make my skin crawl. Like, if I knew he's serious not just being funny with his flirting, (and he is serious) it would make me super uncomfortable so idk if this is some reverse things where Marinette doesn't want to hurt his feelings being more vocal about it (ALTHOUGH she does repeats it over and over again that they are not a couple so maybe it does make her uncomfortable) but that's not ok folks.

But over all, he's a kid that's got a lot of catching up to do on social interaction and all, but him being with Marinette would be a disaster. First of all give this boy therapy. This is the ship, Adrien X Therapy. And then let him be in any relationship.

Marinette,

Oh boy ok before we start know that I don't hate her, she's a complex and in some ways more layered and realistic heroine than most media present and that's great however there are some concerning behaviours here.

First of all, her obsession with Adrien is borderline creepy. I really don't like how the show blew it out of proportions and just make her this unavailable to function creature that just lives off crumbs of Adrien's attention thrown her way. Can we talk about the fact that she memorised his schedule? His classes? His everything? That's stalky as shit and not in an endearing way. And I know Adrien notices but again won't say anything so this only encourages this behaviour and it's fucking uncomfortable guys. It's not comical or funny it's just weird. Because they are not throwing those things like "oh he probably has maths. Or he sometimes has photo shoot after school" no she straight up says "I have his life memorised".

Additionally, everyone knows she has this crush and fucking encourage it. Like everyone else in the school already paired up and they just go oh she likes him ok so we'll go along those crazy elaborate plans she has to capture, literally ambush Adrien so she can talk to him. Like no, children this is not how it's fucking done. You're supposed to put a stop to that.

Moreover, and boy oh boy this is the core issue: her jealousy. Like I get it she's 14 and has a crush and she is allowed to feel jealous. And I KNOW that in the end she does the right thing but that's the issue as well.

First of all the mere thought of Adrien talking with anyone else, like Chloe or Kagami or what's her face that lying girl makes Marinette rabid. It's toxic as hell. She doesn't trust Adrien's judgement and doesn't let him chose for himself which is one of core issues of HIS because he's usually not allowed to do that. So in a way that's again restricting another sphere of his life. And I know we as an audience know they are shittt people but like they don't? So let them learn that.

And the second issue with her jealousy. She is almost a female version of a nice guy when she's like that. She literally justifies any action of sabotage or scheming to not let other girl get close to Adrien with the fact that she's Ladybug and she know Adrien so we'll (cos she's a stalker) and she's convinced her judgement is better and they don't deserve him. She dead ass thinks she's Ladybug (a nice guy) so she deserves a guy. That's fucked up. And I know that in the end she does a right thing and that's she's allowed to express her feelings and all but after several seasons this is annoying.

THEY ARE NOT LEARNING FROM THE PAST THEY DO IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN

Like this whole Marinettes in love with Adrien but he's in love with Ladybug and they are the same person might have been a fun drama hook in season one but to drag it THROUGHOUT what is it? 5 seasons? This is tiring and annoying and boring.

Lastly, especially in the context of the above we need to talk about Luca. Marinette is clumsy and shy around a crush and babbly sure but can we compare how she acts around Adrien and how she acts around Luca? We know she's a disaster around Adrien and she is a stuttering blushing mess when talking to Luca but the moment Luca confesses to her (which let me be honest was smooth as fuck guys) she immediately forgets about Adrien. We know she doesn't do anything about it because she is still hung up on Adrien but it's almost as if she's hung up on the IDEA of him. Because she does know him, she THINKS she does but she doesn't. And she can't let go even if there is a perfectly normal and healthy relationship option open In front of her.

Again, I know they are children and all but there are some serious issues here that the show just kept on playing at as a joke or a drama source and that's not ok. The characters have no growth because of that and they seriously start turning Marinette into a toxic annoying stalker and Adrien into a passive hopeless guy when they both have much potential.

Different nonnie, but I totally wouldn’t mind a poly ship of Happiness x Marinette x Self-Confidence if you decide on it, especially in a fic where two big forces in her life are actively trying to keep her down, consistently for years with Chloe in the form of bullying and now a False Friend in First Friend’s clothing trying to groom her into her own Sabrina. With canon at the point that it is as well, I really just don’t have any problems with fics that have Marinette not ending up in any romantic relationship AT ALL, even with authors like yourself who’ve shown that they know how to do it right in previous work. You’re right in that Felix comes in way later and it may be contrived by the point in the story to include him at all, but if you do decide to include him I’m throwing my hat in for canon!Felix, relation and genetic twinning to Adrien included, because it would be really interesting to see how he would bounce off of DaB!Marinette with her not giving a hoot about his cousin’s—and therefore HIS—looks or status and actually personally disliking their whole monochrome, same-clothes-different-pattern fashion deal. Plus, though this might be me projecting and please feel free to correct me if I am, I get real aesthete and/or demi Marinette vibes from how Marinette describes Adrien’s appearance, so it would be interesting to see what Felix thinks of a girl who, on both beats, just isn’t super interested in him given what he’s probably used to. Plus, with the story not really focusing on Adrien outside of his interactions with Lila, Marinette, and maybe Nino, it would interesting seeing Felix figure out the whole Evil Butterfly deal going on with Gabriel and helping out given how hyper competent he is (or only how hyper competent the writers want you to think he is in his later episodes unfortunately) in-show.

Oh that'll be the first and for most for Marinette. It is going to be an angsty start for her, but it will get better for her.

And man I get that, especially with what I know of canon at this point and where she's at emotionally. She needs therapy far more than she needs a romantic partner. And you know, not all writings, fics, books, and even shows, need romance. I still stand that the best romances in a series that's an adventure story are the ones that are hinted at, but aren't the focus. And at this point in ML, I would rather that love and support of friends and family than her ONLY getting love and support from of her love interest. Especially with how they have been handling it >_>

On Felix preferences, noted. Luckily, this being fanfic, it can be easily arranged for him to come to Paris earlier; though I will put off him learning of the Agreste plot as I will need HM for a while as characters grow and relationships change and akumas can play a part in that. It's still the main reason I haven't had Felix figure it out yet in Copycat cause once he does, that fic should be close to coming to a close.

And to answer what you picked up on, yes, Marinette is on the ace spectrum for DaB (and for most of my fics), which is more me projecting cause I am ace myself. Felix is another I've always headcanoned to be more on the ace spectrum too. So if/when he shows up, expect him to also be ace coded.
