one of the things i love about young royals is that the s1 tagline being “love or duty” leads you to believe this is going to be like all of the other cliche royal/commoner modern romances where the journey ends with wilhelm realizing he can have both

but then the show is actually an interrogation of how the protagonist cannot maintain his role within the monarchy and have a healthy relationship because no one can be a fully realized individual within a hierarchical colonial institution AND coming into queerness is a stepping stone to the self realization that ultimately frees him AND it is actually the antagonist who gets trapped within the monarchy (while also losing love) proving that upholding the power of the ruling class is a narrative punishment instead of a reward… perfect show

How would the plot chnage if Gastón had had time to see Nina showing up as "felicity" and wearing blue to tehir date before running off

They would have a lot of relationship development during the rest of the season, building a good foundation for a happy and healthy one

They would get soooo annoyed at their best friends for not getting their act together at once

They would love playing matchmaker for them though, it would result in a lot of crazy situations between them trying to set the two up (after Matteo and Ámbar break up, of course, they’re not that kind of people) while Ámbar tries to sabotage everything that’s going right in Luna’s life

The Oxford admission paper thing wouldn’t happen because their relationship would be way more stable with him having more time to kill Nina’s insecurities

He would stay in BA, since their relationship is stronger and his whole life is there, it gives him a bigger reason not to leave

I feel like Luna and Nina would still help Eric with his stage fright, and as Gastón is busy with uni and doesn’t stop by as often, Eric still develops his crush on Nina, but one day Gastón shows up to surprise her, or to watch an Open and he realizes they’re a couple and his heart shatters, so he decides to leave Roller, like the little bitch he is
