The Trevor Project needs help holding upper management accountable for sudden devastating layoffs, and silencing those attempting to speak up about it!
The Trevor Project is a US-based nonprofit organization that provides support for struggling queer youth, providing 24/7 phone and text lines as well as other resources and community for many queer youth who are struggling to find support and a sense of stability. For those who work for this project, their jobs have meant everything to them, and the layoffs came suddenly, without the employees being able even so much as give feedback during this announcement.
"On the morning of June 14, The Trevor Project sent a meeting invite for 1:30 pm EST (2 hours before the meeting start time). The meeting was titled "988 Updates." In this brief meeting, staff at Trevor Project and staff contracted through Insight Global working for Trevor Project were informed that almost half of this 988 staff would be laid off and the last day for those folks would be July 2, 2023. Coordinators of the meeting from both Trevor Project and Insight Global turned off the chat feature and opened the Q&A, but have yet to still answer the questions asked by the staff. Leaders were stiff, emotionless, and cold while reading off of a script as if they were not destroying lives by what they were saying. 988 counselors and staff were also told not to stop taking crisis chats while this was happening, leading to our own self-crises while trying to support contacts. This was a highly unprofessional and inconsiderate meeting with life-changing news."
This has been utterly devastating for both the project, and those who are losing their jobs. Those affected were given a two week notice. As this is a primarily queer organization, many of those affected by these lay-offs face discrimination in their careers and have struggled to find jobs outside of queer affirming organizations.
As of writing this post, this petition only needs 255 signatures to pass, please sign if you agree that those in charge need to be held accountable and provide answers and solutions for the problems and damage that has been caused. You can also share this post, or the link to the petition itself to increase visibility. Thank you for reading.
We stand in solidarity with The 988 Trevor Project Team United.

Dear Nex,
You're never going to see this. I know. I felt the need to write this for you anyway.
Maybe my input isn't needed because I'm cis, but I hope you and everyone else who sees this knows in spite of my gender identity and the privilege I have as a cis male that I'm aware that I have, I mean every word that I say. I never wanted to be privileged. I don't want to be privileged. I'm so incredibly sorry that I'm privileged. I know it's not right. I know it's not fair. If my input isn't needed, so be it. But I'm going to share it anyway.
My sorrow and rage and pain has not at all subsided since February 20, when I learned of your death. You've been in the back of my mind ever since. The grief and anger hasn't gone away. What your friends said about you and your family as well, shows that you were such a wonderful person. I wonder if you had social media. I would've loved to be your friend if you had Tumblr.
I find myself enjoying sunny weather and thinking "Nex would've liked this". I look at my friends' pet cats and think about Zeus. When listening to rock I wonder if you liked the song I listen to.
You were mistreated by your peers in life, because of your laugh, which I'm sure was wonderful, and the way you dressed. Being yourself cost you your life. And now even in death people refuse to respect you. Transphobes running rampant, calling you your deadname, someone here on Tumblr celebrating your death, labeled as filth. And now? Now your cause of death has been labeled as suicide. Even though absolutely none of it makes sense, and nothing adds up. It just doesn't make sense. And even if somehow you did commit suicide, the day before you did you were physically assaulted by your peers for getting fed up with being mocked. You were bullied before that too. Bullied relentlessly and mercilessly just for being you. The blood is still on their hands.
I'm utterly disgusted by the medical examiner, the state of Oklahoma, the transphobes, even myself sometimes for being so privileged because of my gender identity. I shouldn't be privileged for being cis. We should all be accepted and treated fairly and with care and love and respect. If only things were that ideal..
I'm crying now even as I write this. I so desperately wish that everything was different. That you weren't killed. That you could continue to hang out with your friends and be a kid. Making new recipes. Playing with Zeus. Playing your favorite songs. Making music, if you liked doing that.
Recently my faith and belief in God has been tested. But if there's an afterlife, a Heaven up there, I hope you're having fun and enjoying yourself up there. When I die and reach Heaven, I'll be sure to visit you.
On the other hand, if there's not a Heaven, I hope you're enjoying your eternal rest. Whatever being dead is like without an afterlife, I hope you're ok.
But until then I'm going to try my damndest to ensure your memory stays alive. Posting about you on social media and reblogging posts about you like wildfire so people never forget. I'm not going to let anyone forget you, Nex. I promise you. Me and all of the other people grieving here on Tumblr will continue to say your name, whether our shouts fall on deaf ears or not. We're never going to be silenced.
I raise my cup to you, Nex. You will be avenged. Justice will be served.
I didn't know you and I never will. You never knew me and you never will. But all the same, even if we're eternally strangers, I love you, Nex Benedict. I'm sorry the school failed you, I'm sorry the ambulance failed you, I'm sorry Oklahoma failed you, I'm sorry the world failed you. And perhaps I failed you somehow. And I'm so unbelievably sorry if I did. But I hope keeping your memory alive, and saying your name, and seeking justice can make up for it.
Until we're angels in Heaven once more.
Love, truly,
Finley

Pins are now up! Making a new post for added visibly.
Continuing the #IllGoWithYou initiative started back in 2015 to let trans people know you'll go with them to a public gendered bathroom for safety and support. Public bathrooms can be a stressful thing for trans people, especially early in their transition. You don't have to be a cishet person to wear one of these, just be willing to help if someone approaches you about it.
Base cost is just to cover shipping, anything else on top of that will be donated to the Trevor Project!

This year we've helped raise almost $5k with SPN Family Giving for the J2M birthdays with proceeds going to Thinkery, Attitudes in Reverse, and Nova Ukraine.
The time has come for us to offer everyone a chance to own their very own priceless souvenir of the show we all love so dearly. In doing so, we also want to honor the largest (hopefully!) legacy of our fandom: using our collective power for good.
Right now we're offering up some of the most treasured autographed scripts in our collection in a raffle to benefit The Trevor Project, an organization near and dear to the hearts of so many Supernatural fans.
If you'd like to help us support The Trevor Project but don't want to be entered into the raffle, check the box next to "Hide my name from the public" so your donation will be anonymous to the organizers.
Update:

The Trevor Project.
https://www.thetrevorproject.org/get-help/
A Suicide Helpline for queer youth. They have calling, texting, and messaging, and you can easily close the page without leaving a trace.
They have saved me a few times. They're already pretty well known, but it's good to remind people. You aren't alone, and people care about you.
One topic at a time has helped raise over $100,000 to support this project. You can donate through his YouTube, and other places as well. I believe that Hot Topic (yes, the store) donates there as well, specifically with their partnership pride merch.
You guys are all my family, my community. Keep living on.

Before we start not reading, not researching, & jumping to conclusions via reblogs & things with the speed per capital society we live in, where is it sourced specifically (that isn't a tumblr post or a tiktok without citations) that the Trevor Project is in support of KOSA?
We have sources for GLAAD, GLSEN, and PFLAG (August 24, 2023), but I wanna know where the rest of this info comes from. Pretty convenient to say that an organization known for helping trans youth is in support of a shitty bill amidst all the ongoing chaos, especially when we live in an age of misinformation.
If anyone could link it to me, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Update: Okay so yeah this is kinda suspect, The Trevor Project in July 25, 2022 is all for KOSA here.

so the trevor project has done some really shady shit over the last year to their employees— transphobia going unaddressed WITHIN the company, poc quitting due to racism and no recourse, no communication or transparency from leadership, turning off public channels making it harder for people to reach out, hiring unqualified individuals in powerful leadership positions, unfair expectations for workers and pushes for productivity (for a suicide hotline!!), and much more.
the workers at trevor worked hard to become a union a few months prior due to the emotional and physical toll the job was taking on them and NOW trevor is talking about huge layoffs within the company for sudden, mysterious financial reasons— even tho they just received a government grant and started hiring for 988 (and even tried to layoff brand new hires for this) and it’s pride month in which they get the highest donations of the year.
so now on top of all the bullshit the workers have been dealing with prior to this— trevor is trying to union bust by pushing for layoffs and then posting NON-UNION jobs directly after ‘discussing the layoffs’
—this is completely unacceptable and actual bullshit for a place that is supposed to be safe for lgbtq+ individuals with the intent to help suicidal teens/adults. It’s not possible to support lgbtq+ youth while feeling attacked, hated, oppressed, and siloed. It’s unsafe and unhealthy and trevor should be ashamed for allowing all of this to happen and then trying to scare people away from the union.
If you would like to support the workers at trevor then go to their instagram page to like and share, and learn more of what’s happening and what can be done.

Every year I have this idea that I'm going to plan this out and write something profound. But it really just comes down to a few things, doesn't it?
❤️ There is no timeline (or requirement!) for coming out. Some people shout it from the rooftops immediately and some people keep it as their business forever. Both are valid and correct.
Ask yourself: Do I want to? Do I feel safe to do so? Do I have a plan if it all goes sideways?
🧡 Perhaps the most important point: nobody, and I mean NOBODY, gets to make that decision for you. That choice is yours and yours alone. Family, friends, partners, coworkers, teachers should never pressure you to come out.
💛 There is no timeline for “figuring it out”. Some folks just know and others figure it out later. Neither one is wrong. There’s zero shame in learning your sexuality in your 30s, 50s, hell even your 80s. The only “correct” time is when you say so.
💚 That being said… it can change! And that’s perfectly fine. No one would blink an eye because one day you declare you now like brownies instead of chocolate chip cookies. Or both. You learn more about yourself, you grow, you make more informed decisions. It’s all a process.
💙 Labels not required. Am I Gay/Lesbian? Bi? Queer? Aro? Whatever you decide, and are comfortable with, is a-ok. Even if that means no label at all. First and foremost you’re you. Not your preferences.
💜 A Special Lil note for the allies and supporters and others: This goes for anyone, but particularly those who didn’t figure things out (or feel like they could be open about it) until later. I say this as something of a late bloomer myself. Crying over Heartstopper? Suddenly adding all kinda rainbow merch to their house/vehicle/wardrobe? Going to Pride events? Making or sharing more pointed social media posts?
Yeah, they figured out they’re [insert label here]. Great, good for them but you’re sooooo over it. They’re X years old, why do all this now??? Like chill already.
Nope. You chill. Some of us are legit getting to experience this side of ourselves for the first time ever. And sometimes that is decades in the making. We’re unpacking a lot. So please hold your shaming and judgement. If it’s not hurting you or anyone else, for the love of everything just let them have this.
